- 0:45Speaker: Welcome to the third episode of River City Mystery podcast.
- 0:48Speaker: Thank you for joining me tonight.
- 0:50Speaker: We're going to be looking into the disappearance of Teresa a
- 0:53Speaker: Rideout of Chandler, Indiana.
- 0:56Speaker: We talked a little bit about her in episode one four seasons, she
- 1:01Speaker: was Jack Barnett's fiancée slash girlfriend, who ended up missing
- 1:06Speaker: at the end of that episode.
- 1:07Speaker: Investigators were hoping she would show up at Jack Barnett's
- 1:10Speaker: funeral, but she never did.
- 1:13Speaker: She never showed up, and she was not heard from or seen since.
- 1:19Speaker: There hasn't been a whole lot
- 1:20Speaker: written about this
- 1:22Speaker: disappearance, there's not a
- 1:23Speaker: whole lot of information on the
- 1:24Speaker: internet.
- 1:25Speaker: As a matter of fact, when I
- 1:27Speaker: started looking into this case
- 1:28Speaker: several years ago, that's what
- 1:31Speaker: caught my attention with this
- 1:32Speaker: particular case.
- 1:36Speaker: I first heard about the story a few years ago, when I was
- 1:39Speaker: looking through one of the Evansville Courier press stories
- 1:42Speaker: about cold case files.
- 1:44Speaker: Teresa's case information was
- 1:47Speaker: one of the few cases mentioned
- 1:49Speaker: on there.
- 1:49Speaker: So I did a little background search to to see what I could
- 1:52Speaker: find out about it.
- 1:54Speaker: And there was just a remarkable lack of information about this
- 1:58Speaker: particular case, about Teresa, there was almost nothing.
- 2:02Speaker: The Indiana State Police website, which I've got a link
- 2:05Speaker: in the show notes.
- 2:06Speaker: If you go to River city mystery
- 2:07Speaker: dot com slash three, I'll have a
- 2:09Speaker: link to that particular Indiana
- 2:12Speaker: State Police post, but it still
- 2:14Speaker: has her name spelled
- 2:15Speaker: incorrectly.
- 2:16Speaker: It's, um, that's not the spelling of Teresa.
- 2:20Speaker: There's no photo of the missing person, which you think they
- 2:24Speaker: could have found a, some kind of photo or drawing or sketch of
- 2:28Speaker: the missing person.
- 2:30Speaker: The National Missing and
- 2:31Speaker: Unidentified Persons System,
- 2:33Speaker: also known as Namus, has a very
- 2:35Speaker: similar listing.
- 2:36Speaker: It looks like they're.
- 2:37Speaker: Those listings are connected.
- 2:39Speaker: Also, no photo of the missing person.
- 2:42Speaker: Just very, very short details on what happened.
- 2:47Speaker: Um, it literally says, um.
- 2:50Speaker: On September eleventh, nineteen ninety four, Teresa Rideout was
- 2:53Speaker: reported missing by a friend.
- 2:55Speaker: She's never been located.
- 2:57Speaker: It is suspected that foul play could have caused her
- 3:00Speaker: disappearance, and that is the end of the description of what
- 3:04Speaker: may have happened to Teresa in nineteen ninety four.
- 3:08Speaker: Normally when a person is missing, they have family and
- 3:12Speaker: friends who kind of.
- 3:13Speaker: There's always there's usually someone who can kind of step up
- 3:16Speaker: and be that point person who's always keeping everybody on, on
- 3:19Speaker: task and looking and looking and, and trying to dig into all
- 3:24Speaker: of the details of the case.
- 3:28Speaker: As I did my research, I found
- 3:31Speaker: out that Teresa really didn't
- 3:33Speaker: have many people in her life
- 3:35Speaker: that were dependable, especially
- 3:38Speaker: family.
- 3:39Speaker: Her family was basically out of the picture.
- 3:42Speaker: I had to really struggle to find information on even who she was
- 3:48Speaker: or where she was from and what kind of history she had, and I
- 3:52Speaker: knew it was going to be tough to get that information.
- 3:54Speaker: So I actually set up an ancestry dot com account, and I was
- 3:59Speaker: trying to dig and find out who her connections were.
- 4:02Speaker: Was she.
- 4:02Speaker: Did she have any siblings?
- 4:04Speaker: Uh, children.
- 4:05Speaker: Was she married?
- 4:07Speaker: Uh, because none of that information was available.
- 4:09Speaker: On any of the, um, in any of the
- 4:11Speaker: news articles that I was able to
- 4:13Speaker: find.
- 4:14Speaker: And I was able to find out a little.
- 4:15Speaker: Bit about Teresa's family life.
- 4:18Speaker: She had a mother who died when
- 4:20Speaker: she was only six years old, and
- 4:22Speaker: her father died when she was
- 4:25Speaker: seventeen.
- 4:26Speaker: She had no siblings, and she ended up going to live with her
- 4:30Speaker: aunt and cousins in Kentucky.
- 4:32Speaker: Shortly following the passing of her mother.
- 4:36Speaker: Not long after her father passed
- 4:37Speaker: away, Lisa married Michael
- 4:39Speaker: Rideout.
- 4:40Speaker: They lived together in Henderson, Kentucky, and they
- 4:43Speaker: had one son together.
- 4:44Speaker: In June of nineteen eighty, I
- 4:46Speaker: was able to connect with one of
- 4:48Speaker: Michael Rideout's relatives on
- 4:50Speaker: ancestry dot com to ask if she
- 4:52Speaker: could provide me with any
- 4:53Speaker: information on Teresa or the
- 4:55Speaker: disappearance or any kind of
- 4:57Speaker: family story that she may be
- 5:00Speaker: able to provide to help me do my
- 5:02Speaker: research.
- 5:04Speaker: And she responded, she did
- 5:05Speaker: respond, and she said, that's
- 5:07Speaker: basically a big family mystery
- 5:10Speaker: that nobody really knows what
- 5:11Speaker: happened.
- 5:12Speaker: She was not aware that there was any sort of foul play.
- 5:17Speaker: She said that Theresa was known to have loved the river.
- 5:22Speaker: They went to the river.
- 5:23Speaker: She and Jack Barnett went to the river all the time.
- 5:28Speaker: Went along with Theresa's dog River, who was named River.
- 5:33Speaker: The belief of that side of the family which.
- 5:36Speaker: This was Theresa's first husband's family.
- 5:40Speaker: The belief is that she drowned.
- 5:42Speaker: They just think she drowned in
- 5:43Speaker: the river and that there was no
- 5:45Speaker: foul play.
- 5:46Speaker: And she may have just drowned.
- 5:48Speaker: According to this person that I spoke with on ancestry dot com,
- 5:52Speaker: Theresa kept to herself.
- 5:54Speaker: She really didn't have very
- 5:55Speaker: close connections with family or
- 5:57Speaker: many others.
- 5:59Speaker: She mentioned that her son,
- 6:00Speaker: Matt, had to go to court to
- 6:03Speaker: declare his mother dead in order
- 6:06Speaker: to collect on an insurance
- 6:07Speaker: policy.
- 6:08Speaker: So on August twelve, two
- 6:09Speaker: thousand and two, a death
- 6:10Speaker: certificate was generated for
- 6:11Speaker: Teresa Rideout, and the death
- 6:14Speaker: certificate states that she is
- 6:16Speaker: presumed dead.
- 6:17Speaker: Last seen September second, nineteen ninety four.
- 6:21Speaker: Teresa and Michael divorced in the mid eighties, not long after
- 6:25Speaker: their son Matt was born.
- 6:27Speaker: It appears as though Teresa just kind of took off and it was even
- 6:32Speaker: paying regular payments, or that she was ordered to pay some
- 6:36Speaker: payments to Michael for his caring for their child.
- 6:42Speaker: And it doesn't appear as though she had much of a relationship
- 6:45Speaker: with her son, Matt.
- 6:48Speaker: Michael ended up remarrying, and, uh, he ended up passing
- 6:52Speaker: away from complications of diabetes at the age of fifty
- 6:55Speaker: two, and Theresa's son Matt, died in December of twenty
- 7:01Speaker: eighteen in Las Vegas at the age of thirty eight.
- 7:05Speaker: And with Matt's passing there,
- 7:07Speaker: really, that was the family, um,
- 7:11Speaker: that really had anything to do
- 7:13Speaker: with Theresa.
- 7:15Speaker: I'm not.
- 7:15Speaker: It doesn't appear as though Matt had much of a relationship with
- 7:17Speaker: her at all, but Michael was her her former husband.
- 7:21Speaker: He was no longer in the picture, so we're not sure where Theresa
- 7:25Speaker: spent from the mid eighties to the mid nineties.
- 7:28Speaker: That's not clear exactly.
- 7:31Speaker: She likely bounced around from maybe living with different
- 7:35Speaker: coworkers or or people she she might have known.
- 7:39Speaker: That's not known.
- 7:40Speaker: But we do know that she resurfaces in the mid nineties.
- 7:44Speaker: In nineteen ninety four, she starts dating Jack Barnett and
- 7:48Speaker: according to a friend of theirs, they had been living together in
- 7:52Speaker: Newburgh for about three months before the disappearance.
- 7:57Speaker: So what exactly happened that day that Teresa disappeared?
- 8:03Speaker: We have to start off earlier in the day.
- 8:06Speaker: Now.
- 8:06Speaker: She had a shift at Burger King.
- 8:08Speaker: She had to be at Burger King in
- 8:10Speaker: Evansville on Main Street at
- 8:13Speaker: eleven a m, according to an
- 8:15Speaker: Evansville Courier and Press
- 8:17Speaker: article.
- 8:18Speaker: Witnesses claim that Jack and
- 8:21Speaker: Teresa were both spotted the
- 8:24Speaker: morning of September second,
- 8:26Speaker: nineteen ninety four at the
- 8:27Speaker: American Legion Post forty four
- 8:31Speaker: in Newburgh.
- 8:33Speaker: Teresa had to be at work at eleven a m, so they left the
- 8:37Speaker: post, according to witnesses, at ten thirty a m, so that she
- 8:42Speaker: could be at her shift on time, which it appears as though she
- 8:46Speaker: did make it to work on time.
- 8:49Speaker: A friend of Teresa's had stated
- 8:51Speaker: that Teresa's car had had
- 8:53Speaker: mechanical problems and was
- 8:54Speaker: still parked at the house in
- 8:56Speaker: Newburgh.
- 8:57Speaker: So they were both riding around in Jack's red pickup truck.
- 9:01Speaker: And this is a bit of a sticking point with me that I can't quite
- 9:05Speaker: put my finger on.
- 9:06Speaker: I can't quite figure it out.
- 9:07Speaker: And it's always been kind of like a festering in my head.
- 9:12Speaker: Joe and Teresa drive from Newburgh, from the post forty
- 9:19Speaker: four to Burger King on Main Street in Evansville so she
- 9:24Speaker: could make her shift.
- 9:25Speaker: And it's unlikely that Jack would have that.
- 9:28Speaker: They would have gone to their
- 9:29Speaker: Newburgh home first before going
- 9:31Speaker: to Evansville, because there was
- 9:33Speaker: no mention that she was late
- 9:34Speaker: that day.
- 9:36Speaker: That just wouldn't make a lot of sense.
- 9:38Speaker: So Jack and Teresa drive to Burger King.
- 9:44Speaker: Teresa gets out of the truck, goes to work.
- 9:49Speaker: My question would be, did Jack drive off and come back and pick
- 9:57Speaker: her up at the end of her shift because she worked a shift?
- 10:00Speaker: According to her manager, she was in a good mood and she said
- 10:06Speaker: at the end of her shift, she, um, she said, see you tomorrow.
- 10:10Speaker: And that was it.
- 10:12Speaker: There was nothing there was no
- 10:14Speaker: weird vibe or anything like
- 10:15Speaker: that.
- 10:16Speaker: So my question about the truck is she was seen driving when she
- 10:21Speaker: left her shift.
- 10:22Speaker: Her manager actually asked her to drop the night deposit off.
- 10:27Speaker: She hadn't worked at Burger King Burger King very long, but she
- 10:31Speaker: had gained the trust of her manager, and everyone seemed to
- 10:35Speaker: think she was a good worker and dependable enough so that they
- 10:39Speaker: trusted her to take the deposit with them, with her, so that she
- 10:43Speaker: could drop that off at the Citizens National Bank up the
- 10:47Speaker: street, which she did.
- 10:49Speaker: So she was seen driving off from
- 10:52Speaker: work that night in the red
- 10:53Speaker: pickup truck.
- 10:56Speaker: If she did drive the red pickup truck as she was leaving work
- 11:00Speaker: that night, Jack Barnett had to be in that truck.
- 11:04Speaker: I think he would have come back and picked her up unless she
- 11:09Speaker: dropped him off at home before driving to work, which I don't.
- 11:14Speaker: It doesn't seem like she would have done that.
- 11:15Speaker: So when she left work, I believe Jack would have been with her.
- 11:19Speaker: That's my theory.
- 11:20Speaker: I don't see that posted anywhere in any articles, but I would
- 11:24Speaker: love to see the.
- 11:25Speaker: When she was making.
- 11:26Speaker: She did make the night deposit as well.
- 11:28Speaker: She.
- 11:28Speaker: That deposit was made and I would love if they had like a
- 11:33Speaker: camera surveillance to see who was in that truck.
- 11:36Speaker: Um, whenever they made that
- 11:37Speaker: deposit, if there was something
- 11:39Speaker: like that.
- 11:40Speaker: One wonders if they didn't get
- 11:42Speaker: in some argument on the way home
- 11:44Speaker: if it was both of them, maybe
- 11:45Speaker: Jack, maybe Jack was walking up
- 11:48Speaker: and down Main Street drinking
- 11:49Speaker: all day.
- 11:50Speaker: He. Maybe he was drinking early that morning at the post and
- 11:55Speaker: continued drinking that day on Main Street while, uh, Teresa
- 11:58Speaker: was at work waiting for her to get off her shift.
- 12:01Speaker: And maybe he was drunk and something might have.
- 12:06Speaker: They might have gotten into an
- 12:07Speaker: argument or something on the way
- 12:08Speaker: home.
- 12:08Speaker: Who knows?
- 12:10Speaker: To me, that's a little strange
- 12:11Speaker: that that it basically, I think
- 12:15Speaker: Jack had to be in the truck with
- 12:17Speaker: her when she drove off that
- 12:19Speaker: night.
- 12:19Speaker: That's my theory.
- 12:21Speaker: Just a theory.
- 12:23Speaker: And for me, that means that something could have happened on
- 12:28Speaker: the way home.
- 12:28Speaker: They could have gotten into a big fight or something.
- 12:30Speaker: And and I don't know what that
- 12:33Speaker: might have been about, but
- 12:34Speaker: obviously.
- 12:35Speaker: But it's just a sticking point with me when I was going through
- 12:39Speaker: the details of this.
- 12:40Speaker: It's.
- 12:40Speaker: So maybe you all have some ideas on on if that's insignificant or
- 12:46Speaker: if there's something to that After Teresa left work that
- 12:50Speaker: night made the night deposit.
- 12:53Speaker: She was not seen again.
- 12:55Speaker: She never.
- 12:57Speaker: She never came back and picked up her.
- 12:59Speaker: She had some checks at a Burger King that were unpicked.
- 13:02Speaker: They were never picked up.
- 13:04Speaker: So she also made the night deposit.
- 13:07Speaker: So if she was planning to make a just a run for it and quit, it
- 13:11Speaker: seems like you wouldn't make that night deposit if you kind
- 13:15Speaker: of planned on running or something like that.
- 13:17Speaker: So she she didn't pick up her last checks.
- 13:21Speaker: She just stopped showing up to
- 13:23Speaker: work after September second,
- 13:25Speaker: nineteen ninety four, which was
- 13:27Speaker: very out of character for her
- 13:29Speaker: based on comments from her
- 13:32Speaker: manager.
- 13:32Speaker: That was not like her.
- 13:34Speaker: They said that she was dependable and it would be
- 13:36Speaker: unlike her for her not to call in sick or to let her know that
- 13:41Speaker: she wasn't going to be there.
- 13:44Speaker: Some of the articles talk about
- 13:46Speaker: some of the friends that Teresa
- 13:48Speaker: had.
- 13:49Speaker: One of them was Carl Smith of Newburgh, Indiana.
- 13:54Speaker: Now, Carl was one of Teresa's closest friends in the area, and
- 14:01Speaker: one of the articles Evans, one of the Evansville Courier and
- 14:03Speaker: Press articles, Carl Smith is interviewed and he says that if
- 14:08Speaker: she was in trouble, she would come over and tell me about it.
- 14:11Speaker: We were just really good friends.
- 14:13Speaker: I probably knew as much about her private life as anyone.
- 14:17Speaker: She maybe would leave on the spur of the moment for a trip or
- 14:20Speaker: something, but not without letting someone know.
- 14:24Speaker: And it's unusual for her and the dog to both be gone.
- 14:28Speaker: The article goes on to say that Carl checked the river camp that
- 14:32Speaker: Jack Barnett owned.
- 14:34Speaker: He actually went with Jack's
- 14:36Speaker: ex-wife to check out the river
- 14:38Speaker: camp.
- 14:39Speaker: Now, Jack and Teresa loved the river.
- 14:42Speaker: Apparently, according to
- 14:43Speaker: everyone, they went there all
- 14:45Speaker: the time.
- 14:45Speaker: They loved hanging out by the river.
- 14:47Speaker: They.
- 14:48Speaker: Teresa's dog was named River.
- 14:51Speaker: They just.
- 14:52Speaker: That.
- 14:53Speaker: That appeared to be their thing.
- 14:54Speaker: They went there probably to drink a lot and, uh, hang out.
- 14:58Speaker: He had his river camp.
- 15:01Speaker: Carl thought that that would be a good place to go.
- 15:03Speaker: Check to see where, you know, if there's anything amiss there or
- 15:07Speaker: any evidence of anything weird.
- 15:10Speaker: I actually did a, um, a property search looking for what river
- 15:14Speaker: camp he might have owned.
- 15:16Speaker: And I, I looked through a lot of
- 15:18Speaker: them along the Ohio River and,
- 15:21Speaker: uh, Spencer Warrick Vanderburgh
- 15:24Speaker: counties.
- 15:24Speaker: And I could not find what river camp he might have owned.
- 15:29Speaker: Surely the police would have
- 15:30Speaker: looked in that particular area,
- 15:32Speaker: because that would be an
- 15:32Speaker: interest.
- 15:33Speaker: That would be a, a place to to hide a body.
- 15:36Speaker: If you were going to, I suppose you would be very comfortable
- 15:38Speaker: and familiar with that area, and you would know the locations
- 15:42Speaker: that might be easily overlooked if the police went there and
- 15:47Speaker: looked, which I'm sure it seems like they would have.
- 15:50Speaker: Seems like they would have found
- 15:51Speaker: something if if something was
- 15:52Speaker: there.
- 15:54Speaker: Carl said that they didn't see
- 15:55Speaker: anything unusual when they went
- 15:58Speaker: there.
- 15:59Speaker: Uh, he goes on to say that, uh,
- 16:01Speaker: he talked to Jack Barnett
- 16:02Speaker: recently.
- 16:03Speaker: He said, I talked to him
- 16:04Speaker: recently and they had plans for
- 16:06Speaker: the future and seemed to be
- 16:07Speaker: doing fine.
- 16:08Speaker: He said I was tickled to death
- 16:10Speaker: that she found somebody like
- 16:11Speaker: him.
- 16:13Speaker: It just doesn't add up.
- 16:14Speaker: Whatever happened to something that happened very suddenly?
- 16:18Speaker: So Carl, who was the closest
- 16:20Speaker: person to Theresa, had he seemed
- 16:22Speaker: like he was just kind of taken
- 16:25Speaker: by surprise that all of this had
- 16:26Speaker: happened.
- 16:28Speaker: He didn't seem to indicate that there was any abuse or anything
- 16:32Speaker: like that going on that would indicate that Theresa would have
- 16:37Speaker: been in harm's way a few days after September second.
- 16:41Speaker: This would be on September six, nineteen ninety four.
- 16:45Speaker: Gail Chapman, who was a friend
- 16:46Speaker: of Theresa's who also worked at
- 16:49Speaker: Don and Donna's sports Bar,
- 16:52Speaker: claims that a bartender who
- 16:53Speaker: worked at Don and Donna's sports
- 16:56Speaker: bar told her that Jack Barnett
- 16:59Speaker: came into the bar that day on
- 17:01Speaker: September sixth.
- 17:03Speaker: She said that Jack made no
- 17:04Speaker: mention of Miss Rideout's
- 17:06Speaker: whereabouts to the bartender or
- 17:09Speaker: to anyone at the bar if
- 17:11Speaker: something nefarious had
- 17:13Speaker: happened.
- 17:14Speaker: On September second, Jack, who you would think may have had
- 17:19Speaker: something to do with her disappearance or murder or
- 17:23Speaker: whatever, had it all together enough to be able to go to Don
- 17:28Speaker: and Donna's bar and sit there and calmly have a drink and eat
- 17:33Speaker: dinner or whatever he was doing there without mentioning
- 17:37Speaker: anything about Theresa, and apparently didn't appear off or
- 17:41Speaker: anything like that.
- 17:43Speaker: And as I discussed in the first
- 17:45Speaker: episode, Four Seasons on
- 17:47Speaker: September tenth, nineteen ninety
- 17:50Speaker: four.
- 17:50Speaker: So several days later, Jack Barnett checks himself into a
- 17:54Speaker: motel in Mount Vernon, Indiana, and proceeds to shoot himself in
- 17:59Speaker: the head after leaving a suicide note to his daughter, making no
- 18:05Speaker: mention of anything about Theresa in this note.
- 18:08Speaker: According to Jack Barnett's
- 18:11Speaker: ex-wife and other friends of
- 18:14Speaker: theirs who checked out the home,
- 18:16Speaker: there didn't appear to be
- 18:17Speaker: anything missing from the home,
- 18:19Speaker: and there was no body found in
- 18:22Speaker: the home or there was no
- 18:24Speaker: evidence of any sort of
- 18:25Speaker: struggle.
- 18:26Speaker: The only thing missing from the home was Theresa's dog River.
- 18:30Speaker: Now, I do have a couple of theories about what may have
- 18:33Speaker: happened to Theresa, and they're all just theories.
- 18:36Speaker: The first one is the obvious, and I think this is what the
- 18:39Speaker: investigators think happened.
- 18:40Speaker: And I think that's why there's little effort going into finding
- 18:45Speaker: the truth here.
- 18:46Speaker: Um. Is that Jack just snapped one night and killed her.
- 18:51Speaker: HID the body, killed the dog, hid it, hid the body.
- 18:54Speaker: Probably at the same place or whatever.
- 18:56Speaker: Dumped him in the river or whatever he did.
- 18:59Speaker: End of story.
- 19:00Speaker: Kills himself a week later.
- 19:03Speaker: And honestly, that that's probably the most likely story.
- 19:08Speaker: There are other theories, though.
- 19:10Speaker: Another theory that has been
- 19:13Speaker: rattling around in my head is I
- 19:16Speaker: know from talking to people and
- 19:17Speaker: from.
- 19:17Speaker: There are some articles that mention that it's possible that
- 19:21Speaker: Theresa and Jack were involved in the drug trade.
- 19:25Speaker: They did have some shady
- 19:27Speaker: associates and maybe some shady
- 19:29Speaker: dealings.
- 19:31Speaker: Maybe they owed money to one of these shady characters.
- 19:36Speaker: Maybe threats were made against Theresa and the dog, and maybe
- 19:41Speaker: somebody followed through on it.
- 19:43Speaker: Jack hangs around for a week
- 19:46Speaker: because he thinks maybe
- 19:47Speaker: someone's calling a bluff or
- 19:49Speaker: something.
- 19:50Speaker: And when he finds out it wasn't a bluff, he kills himself.
- 19:54Speaker: Or maybe he.
- 19:55Speaker: Maybe he thinks that she ran off with one of these associates.
- 20:01Speaker: And after he loses contact with
- 20:03Speaker: her for a week, he realizes that
- 20:05Speaker: either she's dead or she's run
- 20:07Speaker: off with somebody, he kills
- 20:09Speaker: himself.
- 20:11Speaker: That may explain why he was hanging out in a bar on the
- 20:15Speaker: sixth, acting like nothing was wrong, because maybe he.
- 20:19Speaker: Maybe he was in a phase where he was thinking that the Theresa
- 20:24Speaker: was going to come back, or this was going to iron itself out
- 20:29Speaker: because one of.
- 20:29Speaker: One of the problems I have with the murder suicide is the time
- 20:34Speaker: difference between the murder and the suicide.
- 20:38Speaker: I did some looking into statistics, and there really
- 20:42Speaker: aren't a lot of statistics on the difference in time between
- 20:48Speaker: the murder and the suicide.
- 20:49Speaker: I was going to.
- 20:49Speaker: I was trying to find out if it's
- 20:51Speaker: very common for murder suicides
- 20:53Speaker: to take place with a week
- 20:56Speaker: difference between the two
- 20:57Speaker: dates.
- 20:58Speaker: I usually you hear of a murder suicide.
- 21:00Speaker: It's the same time.
- 21:02Speaker: It's a murder suicide.
- 21:03Speaker: It's it's the same event.
- 21:06Speaker: You don't.
- 21:06Speaker: People don't normally wait a week to kill themselves and, you
- 21:10Speaker: know, go through their regular lives for a whole week.
- 21:14Speaker: Um, but I couldn't find statistics on to see how rare
- 21:17Speaker: that actually was or if that's unusual, I thought that would be
- 21:22Speaker: kind of helpful.
- 21:23Speaker: It just seems kind of strange that that he did wait a week
- 21:28Speaker: and, you know, was eating out and stuff like that.
- 21:32Speaker: Um, didn't mention anything
- 21:33Speaker: about it to anybody or act weird
- 21:36Speaker: to anybody.
- 21:37Speaker: So we don't know what happened to Teresa Rideout?
- 21:40Speaker: She's still a missing person.
- 21:42Speaker: She's still listed on these websites.
- 21:44Speaker: The Indiana State Police website on Namus.
- 21:49Speaker: She still pops up on every once
- 21:51Speaker: in a while, on a courier and
- 21:52Speaker: press article about the cold
- 21:54Speaker: case files with no new
- 21:57Speaker: information.
- 21:59Speaker: So I just I think that people
- 22:01Speaker: deserve to have their stories
- 22:03Speaker: told, even if they don't have a
- 22:04Speaker: massive family of hundreds of
- 22:07Speaker: thousands of people out there
- 22:08Speaker: looking and websites and
- 22:10Speaker: Facebook pages and things like
- 22:11Speaker: that.
- 22:11Speaker: Teresa really didn't have a, a
- 22:14Speaker: wide circle of people and really
- 22:16Speaker: not many of her friends that are
- 22:19Speaker: even listed in those articles I
- 22:20Speaker: referenced are even alive
- 22:22Speaker: anymore.
- 22:24Speaker: I know Carl Smith is not a
- 22:26Speaker: living anymore and he was the
- 22:28Speaker: closest friend.
- 22:30Speaker: There just isn't a network of people out there even looking.
- 22:33Speaker: But that doesn't I don't I think that that short.
- 22:36Speaker: I don't think she deserved that.
- 22:37Speaker: I think she deserves as much
- 22:39Speaker: attention on her case as anyone
- 22:41Speaker: else, so hopefully this
- 22:43Speaker: particular episode will
- 22:45Speaker: spotlight her disappearance and
- 22:47Speaker: let everyone know that it's just
- 22:48Speaker: as important as anyone else
- 22:50Speaker: who's missing.
- 22:52Speaker: And even if there are certain
- 22:53Speaker: assumptions that have been made,
- 22:55Speaker: that it's still an unsolved
- 22:57Speaker: case, that nobody really knows
- 22:59Speaker: what happened and anything is
- 23:02Speaker: possible.

- 23:16Speaker: your thoughts or theories on

- 23:22Speaker: episode.
- 23:23Speaker: You're welcome to do so.
