- 0:00Yeah, what's going on everybody, Zach Wild pan Terra celebration getting rid of
- 0:04the role with the Australian chapter. Beautiful Zach, thanks for joining us this
- 0:08London by you got it man, Thanks for having me on my pleasure.
- 0:13So, as you say, Pantsera hit austraight a headline not very soon,
- 0:18starting in Melbourne on March of twenty first, before hitting Sydney of the twenty
- 0:23third in Brisbane the twenty four. So are you packed and ready to go
- 0:26mate or do you lean things like that to the last minute. Yeah,
- 0:30without a doubt. We just got done wrapping up the last run of the
- 0:35headlining shows and then we just did wrap it up right around your Madison Square
- 0:40Garden, which was pretty amazing. And then yeah, it's been a great
- 0:45time. I mean every night, you know, celebrating dying Vinnie and Philip
- 0:49and Wrex and this amazing thing that they created and just brings everyone together.
- 0:55So it's a it's a beautiful thing every night. Excellent and not Fast.
- 1:00Also features Lamb of God, Disturbed, Skindred, Housto of the who Ast,
- 1:03Alexander Prenny Moore Mane. So is there anyone on the lineup that you
- 1:07haven't played with before. I don't know. I mean, you know,
- 1:11I've been doing it long enough where you know, throughout the years you get
- 1:17to know everybody throughout you know, festivals and doing shows with them and then
- 1:22doing tours with them, so they're the lamb of God. Guys we've known
- 1:26for a while now. So it's always great seeing that. What's it like
- 1:32backstage and something like no face pray, like I can imagine it just be
- 1:34like a high school reunion or buddies catching up. Yeah, pretty much.
- 1:40I mean, but you know, mind you it is, I mean pretty
- 1:42stacked throughout the day. I mean, you know, between the sound checks
- 1:47and then we do uh the Panthera VIPs and the meet and greets and everything
- 1:51like that, so there's really not a lot of time to hang, you
- 1:55know, and then usually have to get done with the show. We split,
- 1:57so you know you're off to the next mm hmm. Well uh but
- 2:06yeah, but I mean at at times that we do get to hang,
- 2:07it's it's always a good time, man. Yeah. And of course this
- 2:12will be the first time that this lineup of Pansera has a tortoise trier with
- 2:16yourself and Charlie. But I'm telling the light up. So what can fans
- 2:21expect from the shape? Uh? Nothing, I mean, you know,
- 2:24uh, I mean basically we've been doing it now for about uh I mean
- 2:30not which I can't believe. I mean, it's been over a year since
- 2:31we first went down and had the first batch of rehearsals, the boot camp
- 2:38and everything like that, between uh playing down in Mexico City and everything like
- 2:42that, and then chip all the South American chapters. But uh no,
- 2:47it's it's every night, you know, Like I said, I'm beyond honored
- 2:53and uh to you know, pay tribute to Diamond, Vinnie and and and
- 2:57all the fellows. Man. It's just like I said, it's a beautiful
- 3:00thing every night. Man. Yeah, Now I want to talk about this
- 3:04Newture reversion of pants here a bit more, mate, Like you've been quite
- 3:07a little saying that it's just Phil Rex and a few of their buddies,
- 3:10like it's it's an interesting way look at it. Yeah, totally. I
- 3:14mean it's just like, uh yeah, well Allied Forces me and Charlie over
- 3:17here. So yeah, whatever, I mean, I always, you know,
- 3:22whatever talks about them us doing this panther celebration. It was just you
- 3:27know, I always told Bill and Rex and you know, whenever you guys
- 3:31deal with the right time and you'd want to do it, of course I'll
- 3:36be here to support you guys, and you know, pay tribute to the
- 3:42brothers. So that's that's why it's always been so yeah, I mean it's
- 3:46just like I said, I mean, we've all been friends for years,
- 3:49so it's just a gathering of friends going out celebrating what they created. Yeah,
- 3:54and the music world has been alive with rumors of this happening for years.
- 3:58Broight, But how long was it actually seriously being discussed by you guys?
- 4:03What doing the panthera celebration? Yeah, it's been for a while as
- 4:10long as I can remember. You know, after if the Diamond passed away,
- 4:13when when Vinnie was around, they there was talks about it then,
- 4:17so you know, before Vinnie had passed away. So uh but you know,
- 4:23I mean I just said, guys, if you if you ever need
- 4:25you know, no different than you know, your truck breaking down in the
- 4:29middle of the night and you call me up and you go, Zac,
- 4:30can you come pick me up? So it's like, no problem, I'll
- 4:32be there in a little bit. Look at it. And the first show,
- 4:38as you say, it was back at Mexico's Heaven and Hell Festival last
- 4:41year. So how the nerves before that show? Mate? Like, did
- 4:44you got a lot on your play? You're not just playing music, you'd
- 4:46like you say, you're celebrating the legacy. How the nerves? Just make
- 4:53sure you remember the songs. What a approach did you take before the kabookie
- 5:00drop? Oh, just make sure you remember the songs? And that was
- 5:11a shot like that had any guy down? Was it everything he expected?
- 5:15Oh? Yeah, it was amazing. I was probably that was probably the
- 5:18last time I got butterflies in my stomach, you know, before the Kabooki
- 5:24drop, like kind of like how I did my first show with Ossie back
- 5:28when I was twenty years old. So it was like the anticipation, like
- 5:31wow, the rush because otherwise, like you know, you just try and
- 5:35stay as calm as possible for the show. That's the way I was approaching
- 5:42you know, it doesn't matter whether you're playing a phone booth or you're playing
- 5:45in front of one hundred thousand people. It's just you approach it the same
- 5:48way. Yeah, And of course I like yourself and die bag with great
- 5:54friends. Right. So from a personal perspective, what does it mean to
- 5:58you to be up there playing music? Key right? Uh? Like I
- 6:02said, it's it's a beautiful thing, man, you know, you know,
- 6:05and you know, seeing seeing the reactions on everybody because you know,
- 6:11the Pantera faithful that have seen the band, you know, could take a
- 6:14trip down memory lane and just get flooded with awesome memories of back in the
- 6:20day. And then you have all the uh, the younger generation that never
- 6:27got this to witness the real things. So you know, for them to
- 6:32hear, you know, to still hear this music live just shows you how
- 6:39the strength of the songs and the strength of what the guy has created.
- 6:43So it's like I said, I think it's a beautiful thing every night,
- 6:46just seeing the looks on everyone's faces because I you know, I never got
- 6:49a chance to see Zeppelin live, so I mean it would be, you
- 6:53know, kind of the same thing with me if they went out and towed
- 6:57with Jason. You know, it's like the same kind of thing, you
- 6:59know. I mean, obviously you know it's not it's not zepp one,
- 7:02but it's just to hear those songs and see the guys reform. So that's
- 7:08what it's all about. Yeah, and then hell like if it all do
- 7:11you put your own spin on things? Like do you try and recreate what
- 7:15don did? Or do you put a bit a zach canto it at all?
- 7:18No? You just you You You play the wrongs. I mean,
- 7:21obviously I'm gonna play how I play, But you stay faithful to the songs.
- 7:26Yeah, but you've you've got your own distinct like Sam and people can
- 7:31tell it Zach Wald when you play the guitar. So is that that's still
- 7:35there in this? Yeah? Well, I mean if Dime was if Diame
- 7:39was doing the same thing for me, if he was filling in for Ozzie
- 7:42and he was, you know, was playing the solo and no more tears
- 7:45even no matter what, if he played a note for note, it would
- 7:47still have dimes touch and Dime's feel in his tone. So ah, yeah,
- 7:54it'd be it'd be like the same thing. So you know, but
- 7:56you stay, it's no different than when we were doing you know, Ozzie
- 8:01stuff. When I'm playing mister Crowley. You stay faithful to what Saint Rhodes,
- 8:05you know, wrote the same thing when I do Jake stuff, I
- 8:07stay faithful to you know, Jake sol and Bark at the Moon and everything
- 8:11like that. Yeah, and what's your personal favorite song to play? Very
- 8:16ready up there? Well, I mean we just put Floods in a set
- 8:24now and uh, you know, and that's just you know, really it
- 8:28was a really special song for Dime, you know, when he was really
- 8:31proud of that one. I mean, but I I love I love from
- 8:35the beginning to uh, giving the guys a hug before the kabookie drops right
- 8:41down to the ball at the end of the night, the whole the whole
- 8:45trip is just it's amazing. Yeah. And rumors also been circuliting than the
- 8:50moment might have. Bet you guys write some few music together. Is there
- 8:54any treat to that? What's that, buddy? Rumors have been circulating about
- 8:58this line up writing some original music together, and any truth to that?
- 9:03Uh? No, I mean, I guess that would be a bridge we'd
- 9:07crossed when we get there. But uh, we're so busy doing this right
- 9:11now. There's we've never even thought about it. Yeah, and no,
- 9:16first, you will also be playing with King Parrot. It came over and
- 9:20played some shows with the Over the end of last year. But now to
- 9:22get over those boys. Wait, who's that buddy King Parrot? Oh the
- 9:30King Parrot guys? Yea, because they're promost you're not. They're great guys,
- 9:33man, great people for sure. A kick ass band as well,
- 9:37good good laugh, aren't they. Yeah, without a doubt they kick ass.
- 9:43Said. There's a few other things happening with yourself a black Label Society
- 9:48at the moment, right, I'm starting with a new collaboration with Dunlop and
- 9:52some new guitar fedals, Right, so tell us a bit about that.
- 9:56Well, yeah, me and Jimmy just you know, we just reintroduced all
- 9:58the the tunnels I've used forever, so uh just you know, distortion,
- 10:03the my course, the phase and then we're putting out the roador vibe again
- 10:09in the wah so uh just trying true pedals and then I'm gonna be putting
- 10:13the strings out again. So uh yeah, it's just everything I use so
- 10:20and it worked. What that's the main thing exactly, And befose I just
- 10:28announced the berserkis feature in Black Lives Society. Cody James Cutch, Splkestone,
- 10:35Cherry and Hate small Mate like tell us about that what was now is the
- 10:37right time for you to put on your n festival. Well, you know,
- 10:41I'm training for the thumb wrestling and the Miss berserkis as well, so
- 10:45I'm looking I'm gonna That's why I'm training. My thigh gap, my uh
- 10:50is looking strong, and I'm in my diet's on point, so I'm looking.
- 10:56I'm looking forward to it. But yeah, it's just basically I've known
- 11:00all the bands that are on and I've known all everybody for years, so
- 11:03it's just uh, basically just putting a party together and just getting all my
- 11:07getting all my friends and getting everybody the jam at it. So I'm definitely
- 11:11looking forward to that for sure. Yeah, and there's somebody in the promotion
- 11:16too about a ride for Dime. What's happening then, Well, the Ride
- 11:20for Dime is going to take place. You know, we spoke with Rita,
- 11:22you know, because she's been doing that for years now, and then
- 11:26uh, you know, we reached out to Riada because we talked to her
- 11:28all the time and it's you know, she was We were like, Rita,
- 11:31you want to do the Ride for Dime over at that she was like,
- 11:33yeah, it'd be great. So yeah, we'll be celebrating Dime as
- 11:37well, and then uh, it's just going to be a gathering of you
- 11:41know, berserkers and just get the whole community together and everybody have a good
- 11:43time. Shit. Yeah, now what else is happening with Black Bible Society?
- 11:48Might got anything else to report for us. I've just been writing and
- 11:52stuff like that. So you know, we're recording and uh, you know,
- 11:58who knows where we're gonnaut the next album. I mean, obviously it'll
- 12:01be ready to go probably, I would figure maybe somewhere at twenty twenty five,
- 12:05maybe, you know, because I mean we're so busy doing everything right
- 12:09now. But I mean the only show we got coming up right now is
- 12:11the Berserkus and then uh, but the album, the album will be ready
- 12:16to go, I'm sure. But I mean I'm still writing away and I
- 12:18still got you know, even when we take these breaks from the Pantera celebration,
- 12:26I'll get in the studio and up in the Vatican here and then we'll
- 12:28just start recording some more stuff. Yeah, speaking of that too, right,
- 12:33Like you've done a lot of albums and a lot of writing over the
- 12:35years, right, sir, When it comes time for you to sit down
- 12:37and write, Like, do you find it becomes easier or hotter to come
- 12:41up with fresh new material? I guess the more you do it. No,
- 12:46I think with anybody, you know, a musician, you just sit
- 12:48and you just keep writing until you get something you like, you know what
- 12:52I mean. No, but it really is the truth. I mean,
- 12:56you know, you could be sitting noodling for a little bit and then all
- 12:58of a sudden, you know, a cool riff comes out or whatever,
- 13:01and you you know, and then you're off and running, you know.
- 13:07So, or you get inspired, I mean you could hear something, you
- 13:09know, you could be listening to Dabbot There's that one, or you know
- 13:13anything. I mean, if you're listening to the rock radio and then you're
- 13:16a cool rip or whatever and it inspires you to jam something and then you
- 13:20just it takes you on a completely different path and you end up coming up
- 13:22with a new song. So yeah, it just but you know, I
- 13:28think it's just you just keep writing until you get stuff that you're inspired with,
- 13:31and you then you have something. But I usually just sit down in
- 13:35there out in my gym out here that doom grew up ink Gyron dan Over
- 13:39there and I got my you know, practice lamp out there, and I'll
- 13:43just start writing, yeare cool? All right? Right, well, plase
- 13:46off for this, Like I don't want to give it too much attention because
- 13:50I hate dealing the negatives. But there are people out there who are spiking
- 13:54out against his panciery unything, right, So what message if you got to
- 13:58them before you to austraya Nothing? I mean, it's just like, you
- 14:05know, if you don't want to go, you don't go. It's not
- 14:09my job to convince anybody about anything that they should like pizza or they should
- 14:11like led Zepp on a Black Sabbath or the Rman Brothers, you know.
- 14:16But uh, my own thing is we're don't go. If you don't like
- 14:24vegetables, don't eat them. You're an absolutely champion, right No, But
- 14:31it's like the truth. I mean, I'm not going to try and convince
- 14:33somebody they should like led Zuppe on a Black Sabbath. They're like, I
- 14:35don't like them, I'm like cool, I like them. That just means
- 14:41more a Zeppelin as that habits for me, all right, Zach will absolutely
- 14:46pleasure talk me again. Bro, It's always always fund so we'll see you
- 14:50out here March twenty first for the first show in Melbourne, without a doubt,
- 14:56brother, So uh, we'll see you there. And until then,
- 15:00I'll talk to you a little bit, my brother. I'll try and I'll
- 15:03try and convince some of my friends to like zap One in Sabbath and and
- 15:07Balhalla Java. I'll do the same way. We'll see how we gotta combined.
- 15:13Ah hi, my brother. I'll be in a little bit, buddy,
- 15:15all right, God take care of man. Great talking to you,
- 15:18brother. Take care buddy,
