- 0:00About performance again. And I think what I'm worried
- 0:01about is just a bit of a trend in terms of how we're starting
- 0:05the games and, you know, how we're playing ourselves.
- 0:08I'm worried that, you know, there's some old habits creeping
- 0:11back in. I'm just so fed up of mainly
- 0:14like Keen Skulls but Gary Neville.
- 0:17Why are they being so negative towards it?
- 0:20How? Are we fellow Reds?
- 0:21Probably not great after that defeat last night, but welcome
- 0:26to the latest review of the match against Newcastle last
- 0:30night where we lost two, one with me, Span and Jazz.
- 0:34Jazz, our first defeat on the pod.
- 0:38Are you feeling? Yeah, just frustrated.
- 0:43I felt like obviously the ten men, you think it's you've got
- 0:48to win this. But I guess I think you
- 0:52mentioned it last time that the trend hasn't been great in the
- 0:54last few games. I think I was a bit concerned
- 0:57going to the game anyway because of the type of performances
- 1:01Newcastle usually play against this and they're so combative
- 1:03and they just felt like we played into their hands really
- 1:06with kind of a lethargy and sloppiness and similar to what
- 1:09we've been doing against in the in the other games.
- 1:12Obviously red card, you think, OK, ten men, it's on.
- 1:16But yeah, very disappointed. But in a way, I guess trying to
- 1:21take positives from it, like, OK, it's a test now see what
- 1:25Carrot can do. How could he pick the team up
- 1:27from a loss? So yeah, frustrated, annoyed,
- 1:30angry. But like if you'd said the
- 1:35record start before you took over, you'd go absolutely, let's
- 1:39do this, I'll take that all day long.
- 1:40So still got a little positive overall.
- 1:43But yeah, slight concerns over the actual play in the last few
- 1:48games. Yeah, that's fair.
- 1:50Obviously I've said in the last pod that I was worried and I
- 1:53really wanted to come in his pod today and be completely wrong
- 1:56and I wanted us to have been fantastic and blown Newcastle
- 2:00away. But unfortunately I was well,
- 2:04kind of right. You bang on, right Yeah, but my
- 2:07I probably would have taken a draw now thinking about it and
- 2:10that point and moved on. Yeah, just some morning trends,
- 2:14which obviously we'll we'll get into and that's what made me
- 2:16nervous. And as I mentioned, I was
- 2:18praying that actually it'd go the other way, but wasn't meant
- 2:22to be. And our first defeat to dissect.
- 2:25So let's let's get into it and you know, before we do, if you
- 2:29subscribed, thank you very much. If not, please, please, please
- 2:32subscribe, follow whatever you're watching or listening.
- 2:36It really, really helps us and make sure you don't miss a
- 2:38thing. So make sure you hit that
- 2:39subscribe or follow up on. That'd be great.
- 2:42OK, so yeah, predictions then. So I went for one, one I went
- 2:46for Brian for us and Hall to score run for me and you went
- 2:52for a 2 ball win. Jazz, Cesco and Brian and you'd
- 2:55have Gordon now. Yeah, I did.
- 2:58Yeah, yeah, I meant 21 win for Newcastle, but I've seen I
- 3:02mostly got lost in translation. Yeah, yeah.
- 3:04I thought I was odd at half time 11.
- 3:06I was like, oh, this is odd. But we're definitely winning.
- 3:10Like I think I'm actually too pretty confident we've got to
- 3:12win this now. 10 men and yeah, we'll get into it.
- 3:15But yeah, as you can tell, I'm still annoying.
- 3:17It's still annoying. I had a little thought, I'm not
- 3:19going to lie, when God has got, I remembered back to your
- 3:22prediction, I thought, oh, this would this would be good.
- 3:24Yeah, she has, he's on. She has, he's on.
- 3:26But yeah, both wrong. You weren't positive.
- 3:29I went negative and it ended up being more negative.
- 3:31But yeah. Yeah, the record to listeners, I
- 3:34will always go positive and I'm never predicting anything other
- 3:37than a win. And I will be grumpy and real.
- 3:42No I will, I will be positive, love United, really want us to
- 3:46win every game. But I don't know I just had a
- 3:47weird feeling and I don't like having them feelings and I wish
- 3:50I was wrong but. Right.
- 3:52We hadn't won it in at Newcastle since 2020, so like if we'd got
- 3:57a draw out of it, you'd probably go actually not a bad result to
- 4:01see how we played. So I was kind of going to be
- 4:03expected to come on here disappointed with a draw but
- 4:06take it Newcastle away type vibe.
- 4:08And obviously, yeah, not an amazing golden fair, but yeah,
- 4:13just just just killed me. But there was always almost not
- 4:17the worst part of it. If I make sense, Yeah, it's the
- 4:20performance, right? Yeah, you can lose a game and
- 4:22sometimes you could be like, oh, we're unlucky.
- 4:24All that kind of stuff is there's no there's no debate for
- 4:27me last night. But before we get into the main
- 4:29moments, just quick, quick chat on the lineup that was chosen.
- 4:33So first of all, Maz in for Adelo, Mazuri and Fidel.
- 4:37Yeah, I think, I think I had Gallo and Mazuri and Shaw
- 4:43because I thought Shaw would be injured.
- 4:44Yeah. So kind of the pretty much the
- 4:48team I wanted on there. So yeah, no real complaints,
- 4:53can't really judge character. The team he picks, I think he
- 4:56picking the only real change you can make there is Ahmad in front
- 5:02three, I guess is the only real 1 you can think of.
- 5:05Yeah. So yeah, as expected, really.
- 5:08I was pretty happy to be fair when I saw majority coming
- 5:10because I think I said to you as well, nice to actually see
- 5:14Carrick seeing some of the stuff that we've been seeing because I
- 5:17remember through the Ameren period, you just just watch
- 5:20players and think how is he getting picked?
- 5:21But he just he just start and obviously we we've had some
- 5:24question marks over download Mazra, we come in played really
- 5:27well. So, you know, I didn't expect
- 5:30that all to be dropped from Mazerari.
- 5:32But when he did get picked up, OK, you know, he's clearly been
- 5:35yeah, yeah, he's clearly been watching as well and he's
- 5:37clearly not brave enough to make some decisions even if a player
- 5:40has been playing. So I was pretty happy.
- 5:43And then obviously Ben started, which always makes us happy.
- 5:47And yeah, McGuire made it. And then just on the Newcastle
- 5:51side, just Ramsdale in for Pope. Really rich now?
- 5:54Yeah, it's annoying. Looks like a good decision.
- 5:56Right. Yeah, because I.
- 6:00He had a stormer, to be fair, like he didn't have to a lot of
- 6:02saves, but the says he did make were really good ones.
- 6:04I guess. He wasn't like he's battered and
- 6:06peppered, but the says he had to make with really, really good
- 6:10save. So yeah, frustrated.
- 6:12Very. Frustrating.
- 6:14But yeah, I was pretty sure for the lineup and like ready to go.
- 6:16And, you know, even though I was a little bit worried, you know,
- 6:19then you start to watch the game, you think, right, here we
- 6:21go. But Newcastle started so much
- 6:24brighter than us, didn't they? Yeah, yeah, like even like the
- 6:28first like 4 minutes, they just like, I think it's mainly down
- 6:32the left wing, so Gordon's wing. So bands like, well, they're
- 6:37kind of interchanging, but they just kept getting down there,
- 6:40creating chances, getting crosses, getting to the byline.
- 6:42Everything I wanted us to be doing, they were doing.
- 6:45And they just straight away made the game physical, combative and
- 6:51essentially their game plan of how I thought they want to try
- 6:54and play and what has worked against us in the past.
- 6:58Stay away. You were like, OK, it's
- 6:59happening again. Even in the first 5-10 minutes,
- 7:01you could see like, Oh no, like this isn't ideal.
- 7:06So yeah, yeah, as expected I guess.
- 7:09I mentioned it before, but what is up with us with our stats?
- 7:12Is it just funds? I think we're in 3rd.
- 7:15You know, there's a chance here to kick on as well.
- 7:18We know that Lucas are on the ropes generally in terms of like
- 7:20how they're performing. So where's that like, you know,
- 7:24and really kind of going for it. I was just like, where are we?
- 7:27And it wasn't, I don't think it was because Newcastle were
- 7:30fantastic and they were just smuggering us and we just again,
- 7:34we just look flat and just didn't start well.
- 7:38And honestly, I don't know, Yeah.
- 7:41Obviously in the Last Post part it's literally just energy dust.
- 7:47Didn't they first at the start? Almost most of the games are
- 7:49there, but like particularly at the start, I just felt like what
- 7:52we're doing, like how are we not fired up for this again?
- 7:55Like Liverpool lost yesterday, so we can get a chance here to
- 7:58make an even bigger gap on them. I don't know if they would have
- 8:00known the scores at half time and things like that of viewer
- 8:03games, but it's like, how are you not getting fired up for
- 8:06this? Like Monday?
- 8:08It's like a night game. Newcastle was a good away
- 8:10stadium, good atmosphere and we just kind of look pedestrian.
- 8:14It was, yeah, frustrating. But then again, like you said,
- 8:17it's same for the last West Ham, Everton, Palace, and a lot of
- 8:25the games have been very kind of sluggish, yeah.
- 8:29So it's really frustrating. But then that that's the thing
- 8:31again, where is this crop of players and you're just looking
- 8:34at it's just desire and just one because but and that's when I
- 8:37posed the question of Carrick and the team, because you know,
- 8:40and his staff just to say, if they're all starting flat, then
- 8:45is it something we're doing in terms of preparation or warm up
- 8:48or something like that? But you know, we've we've been
- 8:50here before with these players, with previous managers.
- 8:52So why is it just don't get fired up for a game?
- 8:56It's and James is a great place to play football, you know,
- 8:59under the lights. I couldn't get going.
- 9:01It's just so frustrating. Yeah.
- 9:04Really annoyed and then an early early chance for trivia with
- 9:07that crazy leaked cross that. Yeah, like a fluky one.
- 9:12It looked like Yarrow kind of knew it was like him and lemons
- 9:15are kind of like it's fine. And then it's like when I was
- 9:17wondering, oh, she that was really not that fine because I
- 9:21usually could have hit, hit like the top, top of the inside the
- 9:25post. That is probably a goal.
- 9:26Yeah. And so, yeah, a bit of a bit of
- 9:28a scary one. And he didn't didn't wake us up
- 9:32the. Earth no, I didn't and just
- 9:33watching your old kind of watch it go the post is normal as well
- 9:38yeah she just. Like, Oh yeah.
- 9:40Didn't want to hurt himself, did he?
- 9:42But he got very lucky that I kind of only hit the post.
- 9:44Yeah. And then it's, to be fair, a bit
- 9:47of a sparked a bright spark for me in a, in a terrible
- 9:50performance Cunya with some good stuff down the left.
- 9:52To be honest, I thought he was at least going for it and trying
- 9:55compared to yeah. I think our best chances came
- 9:59from us running at them on the wings, cutting in from the wings
- 10:05because a lot of the game was just through the middle password
- 10:08sideways, kind of trying to pin balls into a really congested
- 10:11area. The time we started making
- 10:13chances was kind of a bit more out wide and and going at
- 10:16players and every time like Kunya would run out them into
- 10:20the box and Brian a few times they looked scared.
- 10:23And so it's just like, I know we didn't do enough.
- 10:27Yeah, Cuna was a bright start. I'd say more more in the first
- 10:31half than the second-half. I think you you dropped off in
- 10:34the second-half, which is again, annoying because you know, less
- 10:36man. But yeah, in the first half I
- 10:38think I've messaged like he was probably our best player and the
- 10:41only one really trying to do anything.
- 10:44And again, just like, how is that not like infecting people
- 10:49to try more and be a bit more daring?
- 10:51Like, I think we said it and you messaged it saying it's like
- 10:54just a lack of risk, right? Yeah.
- 10:56Just, yeah, just why? Why they like, you've been
- 10:59winning games, you've been scoring good goals.
- 11:02I just don't know what. I know that he was like
- 11:05Newcastle completely dominated, so that's why we couldn't do
- 11:07that. It was just we were just letting
- 11:09the game. This is by.
- 11:11Yeah. Is it fair?
- 11:12Is it a lack of desire? I just think sometimes, you
- 11:15know, I look at the opposite. The thorn in our side probably
- 11:18all night was Joe Linton just running with the ball, just
- 11:22going for it and they're just passing through the field.
- 11:25And he did, to be fair to him, he did that lovely little dummy
- 11:28then completely. So, yeah, yeah, sold Bruno and
- 11:31one of a player and ended up setting up that band Chance,
- 11:33which was just wide as well. Yeah, I did enjoy that, even
- 11:36though it was against us. And you can tell that I'm
- 11:39clutching at straws what I'm asking this Chance.
- 11:41But McGuire taking goal kicks, what was what was going on
- 11:43there? Because he wasn't even just
- 11:44doing some short ones. He was doing some long ones as
- 11:46well, which is a bit. Yeah, I don't really know.
- 11:48It's because it's not like Lemons has had dodgy
- 11:51distribution on that being. I'm kicking it past.
- 11:53I don't really know why. I guess there's something
- 11:55tactical maybe or? Yeah, I.
- 11:57Didn't really get it. And he kicked a few, so I don't
- 11:59think he had an injury. He kicked a few.
- 12:01So I didn't see an injury, but I was, you know, noted that down
- 12:04to be like, what's going on there so.
- 12:06Yeah, I don't really know why. Oddness and then you are a bit
- 12:09of a UFC guy. Chess.
- 12:11But the Danburn double elbow, what do you reckon?
- 12:14I like, how's that? Did he get looked at?
- 12:17I don't know why he like he elbowed him twice and the first
- 12:23one was more of like when I saw the replayers on the first one's
- 12:26not bad, but then he does a proper one.
- 12:27I'm like, how is that not getting picked up?
- 12:29Like it's just again, we've said it before.
- 12:33The consistency of refereeing is absolutely, I think the referee.
- 12:38I find it very frustrating in this game, like just blow for
- 12:42everything like it was a physical game, but like in a way
- 12:46that if someone got particularly Newcastle players, especially
- 12:49after they were, it was 11 and they're 10 men like everything
- 12:53like one that will touch there on the floor.
- 12:56And then it was like 2 minutes went to stand up again and
- 12:59constant like, so just again, tactics from Newcastle would
- 13:02spot on because it was like frustrating us and it's kept us
- 13:05out of our rhythm that the referee was allowing that.
- 13:07And it really annoyed me again, like I think we have 5 minutes
- 13:10stoppage time and it's just that there's there was more there
- 13:14because of this kind of time wasting and that physical game,
- 13:19but not physical at the same time because everything was like
- 13:20throwing yourself on the floor. Just really, I really annoying
- 13:23and like trippy. I like he annoyed the hell out
- 13:25of me the whole game. Like he's a gob shite, like
- 13:28chatting away and yeah, really annoying.
- 13:31Like, yeah, obviously I'm annoyed, but I think the referee
- 13:34did play his part in creating that game.
- 13:36I thought the right for the poor game and when he got that crazy
- 13:38spell just fucking everyone, Yeah, I think he just kind of
- 13:42lost the game a little bit. But yeah, yeah, we are clutching
- 13:46shows a little bit because it was a very poor at least 20
- 13:48minutes from United to begin with and you know, even longer.
- 13:51But then worth mentioning the first Ramsey yellow card for the
- 13:56full on Casamero. That's the yellow in it.
- 13:58You can't. That was definitely, yeah, yeah,
- 14:01yeah, definitely fine. Again, looking for kind of
- 14:04bright sparks. I did think Cesco's little in
- 14:07and out with Bruno and some other players into his feet was
- 14:10pretty nice. I do like your little flicks and
- 14:12some of these combinations that he, you know, he was fine.
- 14:14With and he started the the mainly chance in the wing.
- 14:18He started a really nice little, little one of those little
- 14:21switch pass things to Brian and Brian obviously like that was
- 14:25really good. And yeah, he's, I think that he
- 14:28didn't get taken off because I think he's still, I was trying,
- 14:32I just don't think the team was setting him up for success
- 14:35because they weren't, weren't taking enough risks and
- 14:37basically not putting enough decent crashes in.
- 14:39Like, did we get down the byline at all and put a cross in?
- 14:44Like, yeah, I don't think so. I remember.
- 14:47QE did like really one where he did a really good bull run and
- 14:50then played across the box and yeah, go there, but you're
- 14:54definitely not enough. It was more kind of nothing that
- 14:57yeah from Central and then Bruno kind of killing him into the
- 14:59back post and things like. That yeah, or like a lot of like
- 15:02on the floor is trying to drill it into players, which is really
- 15:05hard when you've got like a bat 4 sat there next to you or two,
- 15:09two defenders on you. Like I just don't think they
- 15:12were playing enough to his strengths really.
- 15:14This again, we'll get to it. But like, maybe Ahmad would have
- 15:17opened up more because he's a bit more direct.
- 15:19He likes to run to the byline and try and get across.
- 15:21And so, yeah, frustrating. And I guess in this game I felt
- 15:25like we missed Felon doggy as well.
- 15:29I think he's been a good game because he's so physical and
- 15:34he's direct as well, and I think we just missed that directness
- 15:36and CUNY was operating a bit of it, but Brian was just inside
- 15:40too much, I think. And just like him, Bruno, like
- 15:43everyone's are so close together so it's easy for Newcastle to
- 15:46defend. Like no one was getting out to
- 15:48the wings to put balls in. And yeah, it was really
- 15:50annoying. No, I think you make a great
- 15:51point. I think we've missed Doggy since
- 15:53you've been injured, obviously using such a good form.
- 15:55And he just offers something different just like you say,
- 15:57just he's direct, he's strong, he's fast and he just gets his
- 16:01down that left side which we were missing.
- 16:03But you just mentioned it briefly as well.
- 16:05But that that mainly chance was was a good one.
- 16:08Yeah, so sweetly and don't really I know where he pulled
- 16:14that from and. Also, it's one of those ones
- 16:16where it's like a lot of a lot of times, even if you get a hand
- 16:19to it, you only get like fingertips and it still kind of
- 16:21goes in, but you nicely get a strong hand on it as well and
- 16:24bend it around the post. It's sort of doing a really nice
- 16:26goal. It well worked as well.
- 16:28Yeah, it was. And he's one of those ones where
- 16:30you score a goal like that and maybe that ignites everything.
- 16:34Yeah, but again, didn't happen to get so.
- 16:37No, I'm not. I'm not feeling.
- 16:38After all, we had the Brian. Is it a sitter?
- 16:41I called it a sitter but. Yeah, it so it was in a way.
- 16:46But anyway, you watch the replay, it does bounce up just
- 16:48before he strikes it. So you I think in the
- 16:50commentaries I always lean back is that no, you didn't really.
- 16:52It's just the actual way it hit it, just bad timing in terms of
- 16:56the way it bounced just up. So it looks like he just
- 16:59ballooned it. But in reality, I think if I was
- 17:00on the floor it was a goal, but it's because it just slightly
- 17:02flipped up. So it was a really good chance
- 17:05obviously. But I looked at RFG after the
- 17:09game and it was like 1.28 something on that.
- 17:12So it's like a card that big a chance.
- 17:14Obviously they've seen. It's not it's not.
- 17:16It wasn't like a naughty .7 type chance.
- 17:19It was because it banned stuff like that.
- 17:21And I think there was a defender just in front of him.
- 17:24There was one to his left, so there wasn't a massive space for
- 17:26him to obtain for. But obviously he didn't get on
- 17:29target and he ballooned over. So it looks a lot worse than it
- 17:31was. So there was a chance, yeah,
- 17:34percent. You expect him to do that.
- 17:35He's expecting to do better because he's own good form and
- 17:37been scoring and he's and he's a great player.
- 17:40And a bit more magic from Cunya to create it as well.
- 17:43So yeah, you would expect. Yeah, really good.
- 17:44Again, running direct into the box like running at players and
- 17:48a really good he's actually shot was actually a really decent
- 17:51shot as well. Like, I wasn't really expecting
- 17:52it to be that good. One of those ones that I kind of
- 17:55wish it popped out to Cesco just because he's in form, but it
- 17:58kind of was coming to Cesco and hit one of the defenders and
- 18:00then went over to over to Brian. So annoying.
- 18:04Yeah, very annoying. Very annoying.
- 18:06That's my my word of the part is annoying.
- 18:10Put out there in life nobody was and that's the thing and The
- 18:14thing is with in Bramall's the kind of thing you want to finish
- 18:16our chances as well in it. He's the post to person at the
- 18:18minute and the team you probably put your money on and said to
- 18:21convert that. So that's a shame.
- 18:23And then came the sending off for Ramsey.
- 18:27So obviously goes down after lemons.
- 18:30And I'm thinking, oh, is it a pen?
- 18:32And then we look at it and he ends up getting stand off.
- 18:34What do you think about it? Yeah.
- 18:36Why did it didn't didn't get touched?
- 18:38No, I didn't. So I saw some commentators
- 18:40saying, oh, it's not a diver. So well, if you didn't get
- 18:42touched, then why is it falling on the floor?
- 18:43Yeah, but there's no reason to. It wasn't like he'd, you know,
- 18:46sometimes when players are really fascinated, try and slow
- 18:48down, they kind of stumble. It wasn't like, well,
- 18:51situations. He literally just did die.
- 18:52He did dive, yeah. It's like he just.
- 18:54Fell to the floor. So I'm happy that the referee
- 18:58called it because it was a second yellow.
- 19:01So I don't think they can be aggrieved by it.
- 19:03Like don't dive when you're on the yellow card, like it's your
- 19:08own fault. So it was a dive, but at the
- 19:11time it was a good dive because I thought it was a pen.
- 19:12So did I. When I saw it, I was like, Oh
- 19:15no. And then yes, I think it was a
- 19:18fair card, he. Was described as harsh on TNT,
- 19:21wasn't it? And I think Eddie Howe as well
- 19:23said he fell over. But yeah, when you look at that,
- 19:25there's no contacts and. But he doesn't, he doesn't get
- 19:28touched and then he kind of almost, he's another step past
- 19:31the keeper and then he drops. It's like, well, it's not.
- 19:34They said he's a dive, so I don't soft like he hasn't
- 19:40already on a yellow. I don't think anyone will be
- 19:41saying that's a harsh yellow for a dive.
- 19:44You'd be like, that's a dive, so it's a yellow.
- 19:46So like there's no complaints from our side at all.
- 19:49I think. I think the referee got that one
- 19:51right. Yeah, and the fifth time we've
- 19:54had a player sent off against it this season, and I'm going to
- 19:56say, Chad, I don't like it, I don't want it.
- 19:58I don't now. I'm trying to say that's the
- 20:00that's the the kryptonite of us is.
- 20:02But he saying 10 men. Yeah, I feel it just gives teams
- 20:06a bit more of a, you know, coming together and incentives
- 20:09to go right. We've got 10 men backs against
- 20:11the wall and then you're up against it where you know it's.
- 20:14And also they don't you think that that they get that
- 20:17mentality and then we relax more, yeah, and think, oh, it's
- 20:19going to come. So our intensity almost drops
- 20:21because you're like, oh, we'll score.
- 20:23It will just happen. And then obviously in this game,
- 20:26it nothing happened for a long time.
- 20:28And then we started like last 5-10 minutes, you got intense.
- 20:30It's like just bring that intensity straight away.
- 20:33Yeah, because they're up against it, but we just like, we'll get
- 20:37into something out of a minute, but just they behave exactly how
- 20:41teams do when they feel aggrieved against the red card
- 20:44against ten men. But we didn't respond properly.
- 20:47We just went, Oh yeah, we'll score.
- 20:49Don't worry, it'll happen. It didn't even again.
- 20:51It didn't even feel like at any point that we had an extra
- 20:55player. It was crazy.
- 20:56I thought it felt like we had 10 men in there, 11.
- 20:59Yeah, it's a fair play to have. He he did it against Liverpool
- 21:03as well. He couldn't have had two up tops
- 21:05still and had the OR kind of two up tops, last three in the field
- 21:09interchanging. And I'm like, well, that play
- 21:12wasn't like he sat back and blocked it like Everton did.
- 21:15It was like they played football.
- 21:16They were trying to win still. So that's even more frustrating
- 21:20is that it wasn't like we were kind of getting so low block for
- 21:23half, half the game. Like they only went really into
- 21:26a proper low deep lot once they got the second goal for the last
- 21:28few minutes. So again, it's really
- 21:31frustrating that we didn't bring the energy that you need knowing
- 21:35that their energy is going to, especially Newcastle with their
- 21:37fans and when they feel they're agreed, like they're going to
- 21:40get even more by on the team. Yeah.
- 21:41And there's such a chaotic, combative team, like it's almost
- 21:45good for them. And we just didn't respond to
- 21:47this. Yeah.
- 21:49Annoying, annoying. We need to do a little bit of a
- 21:52bingo card for every time. You know how I said after the
- 21:55game that you you wanted to basically give us the width and
- 21:59not make it end to end. And to be honest, it's smart,
- 22:02right? Because we don't have we don't
- 22:04really have the width to exploit and we deal with a counter.
- 22:08So definitely did a job on us and maybe that's something we
- 22:10can talk about as well in terms of Carrick and maybe some of us
- 22:14as we go on. But yeah, then obviously not
- 22:17long after they're sending off, they get that penalty
- 22:20apparently. I give you that one.
- 22:22Different penalty, yeah, no, it's really annoying me.
- 22:24That really, really annoyed me because it was Bruno in like
- 22:28hero I'll do it all mode because cats had that decent amount of
- 22:33space on him and it had time, but then no one shouted him or
- 22:36he wasn't paying attention. Obviously the ball got nicked
- 22:38off him. Then Bruno was right there.
- 22:39He's when he passed the cast and he just went into savior mode
- 22:42sprinting after him. I think he almost tried to have
- 22:44a bite bite at him first yeah, then he went out to to Mazria.
- 22:49I think he was and then he then comes back in again and it
- 22:53wasn't necessary. No, absolutely no need to do it
- 22:56was a foul. And it's just one of those times
- 22:58where you bit like just a little bit Bruno, like I'm never going
- 23:03to criticize him for like what he does.
- 23:04He's unbelievable, like just a bit stupid, just a really stupid
- 23:08challenge and unnecessary. And it just gave them even more
- 23:12like something more to grab hold of after that, the injustice
- 23:15day, they're perceived injustice to then to then get that
- 23:18penalty. Yeah, you obviously you want
- 23:20your players running and fighting back, but it was just a
- 23:22bit rash, wasn't it? I think, like you say, yeah, and
- 23:25can't really argue. And then John Gordon, I'm an
- 23:28England fan, so obviously I've got an interest in him for the
- 23:30World Cup. I can't figure that guy out.
- 23:31Like sometimes I think he's he's got a lot of potential and I
- 23:35think he's a, you know, he's a good player and can be
- 23:37effective. But I'm not sure is he as a
- 23:40Scott with no interest in England, what do you?
- 23:44I think he's he played well against us.
- 23:47Yeah. I just don't think, I just think
- 23:48he's very standard like, I mean a standard good player.
- 23:52Like, I think England are better attacking players and attacking
- 23:56options, but I guess this season it looks like his numbers are
- 23:59pretty good. Yeah.
- 23:59But I think he's already, I think that was his sixth
- 24:01penalty. So maybe he's just got a lot of
- 24:05penalty goals. But yeah, like he shows a lot of
- 24:08flashes and I thought he did play well to be fair for them
- 24:12yesterday. So yeah, like, I wouldn't, I
- 24:16wouldn't take him in United. That's for.
- 24:17Sure, No, definitely not. Definitely not.
- 24:19But yeah, he doesn't miss pens. I think he's a six yeah, it's
- 24:23like more like 8. I think he's not missed, I
- 24:25heard, but wasn't a great pen really, but effective just down
- 24:28the middle. I like the.
- 24:29Like the feet, if he had size 13 feet or something that was a
- 24:33save and I think his feet are, but like a couple of sizes more
- 24:38are the same because it was just and he dived too well because I
- 24:42would have definitely he would have saved that wise.
- 24:43But you can't miss penalties. Yeah, annoying.
- 24:47Really annoying. Really annoying.
- 24:49However, then immediately struck back pretty much with very well
- 24:53worked free kick with the whole Bruno and Castamero combination.
- 24:57Yeah, yeah, I never bring your assists.
- 25:00Really good header from Castamero kind of making up for
- 25:02his mistake because he obviously well, both of them making it for
- 25:04their mistakes because obviously Katamara lost the ball when then
- 25:07Bruno obviously felt made the foul.
- 25:08So nice to see they combine and then half time like 1/1 as well.
- 25:12We didn't deserve it to be 11, but they've got 10 men.
- 25:17Amazing opportunity. We've got it.
- 25:18We're going to go win this now because going in at one nil that
- 25:21probably now thinks like would we've been better going in one
- 25:24nil down? You think because, well, just
- 25:27because then maybe there's like there's more fight, there's more
- 25:30like we need to get an equalizer, there'll be more
- 25:33energy. But because there's one one
- 25:35again, I'm going back to that kind of mentality where they
- 25:37just think it's going to happen no matter what.
- 25:39Yeah, that's where I'm going from.
- 25:40So maybe actually going in one nil down might have actually
- 25:44been better from a mentality and an energy perspective and maybe
- 25:49character would have taken. I'll speak about his Subs in a
- 25:52minute, but like some more risks in the game.
- 25:55Yeah, and I see, I see the logic.
- 25:57I kind of just was thinking how we really got away 1 here
- 25:59because the first half was dire, Yeah, and I was like to get that
- 26:03goal straight away, it zaps Newcastle, it takes away their
- 26:06advantage. You know, we've got a man extra
- 26:08as well. So I was just hoping that we
- 26:10come out and be like, right, let's get this done because we
- 26:13didn't, we didn't deserve it, let's be honest.
- 26:17Yeah, got the goal going in. Don't know what Carrick said,
- 26:20but we come out in the second-half as well and still
- 26:23just flat. I mean, like you say, some
- 26:26chances which we'll go into, but you generally thought it's not
- 26:29good enough when you've got that man advantage.
- 26:30Now you've got there, you know you've got that advantage as
- 26:33well and you just scored like there's so much to go out, you
- 26:36know, see see a drop in points as well.
- 26:39Go for it. But we just didn't challenge
- 26:41that. No, I just didn't.
- 26:44Same thing again, energy and just like I said, I just don't
- 26:47think they looked like they had 10 men.
- 26:50Like there was no, we just weren't utilizing.
- 26:53I don't think we're passing quickly enough to to to make the
- 26:56space to show that space that should be there when there's
- 27:00when there's one less man. Like again, we messaged about
- 27:03this, but Kobe just sideway passes, no risk not putting
- 27:08anything out to the to the wingers.
- 27:10And like, I think in the second-half, I think Carrick
- 27:12maybe did say like get wider because I think Huner and Burma
- 27:16were a bit more on the touchline, but the ball wasn't
- 27:19going to them enough. So yeah, really frustrating.
- 27:22But there was a spell from like 45 minutes to 60 minutes where I
- 27:26think they dominated. Yeah.
- 27:27Like they had more the ball they were attacking.
- 27:30I think at one point I saw a start came up that was like
- 27:33second-half they had eight touches in our box and three
- 27:36shots and on, and we'd had 0 touches in their box and zero
- 27:40shots. And like that just epitomized
- 27:44it. I was like, what?
- 27:45What is going on here? Just like, honestly, where's the
- 27:47space? Find the space.
- 27:48I just think it's because they were moving too slowly, so it's
- 27:52easy for Newcastle just sit there.
- 27:54Like I said, it wasn't a low block but I think also because
- 27:57Newcastle were offering a threat the other end that everybody's
- 28:02got out tactics basically we did and outplayed.
- 28:05But I think some individual performances and you prefer, you
- 28:08just mentioned that probably now was a good time to talk about as
- 28:11well just Kobe Mane, you know, I mean, I find I'm an England fan.
- 28:15I think he is brilliant or can be brilliant.
- 28:19I think he's got so much potential.
- 28:22I just said to you during the game like we need more from him
- 28:25a little bit in terms of it's too safe.
- 28:27But he's a very, very clever footballer.
- 28:29Like little touches, little triangles, but that can't be him
- 28:33for 90 minutes. Like if you're going to have
- 28:34Castonero and him, granted we've got some really good attacking
- 28:38plays in front of him, but I think he needs to take a gamble
- 28:40some more. Like we've seen, you know,
- 28:41against City, like dropping the shoulder.
- 28:43He's got it. As you have to say, yeah, he.
- 28:44Got it, any locker, but sometimes he needs to break the
- 28:46line. Sometimes he needs to do
- 28:48something different and actually, you know, penetrate
- 28:50the a little bit. He's a completely different
- 28:53profile of player and build and everything.
- 28:55But Joel Lindam was doing it all night.
- 28:57He was just getting the ball and charging and going through.
- 29:02And I think Kobe sometimes was just to to my left, to my right.
- 29:05The irony is, yeah, yeah. Carrick used to get told this,
- 29:09didn't he like, oh, you just say cyber.
- 29:10Yeah, yeah. He's a phenomenal player and I
- 29:12do think that little, the job that Kobe does of connecting and
- 29:16passing is critical. So I'm not saying that they say
- 29:19it's a bad thing. I just think he needs to add
- 29:21another dynamic to his game where sometimes it's less
- 29:23predictable and he just takes a few more.
- 29:25Yeah, but don't you think in the City, the Arsenal games he was
- 29:31doing that though, like like you said, there's there's where he
- 29:34dropped the shoulder. He was definitely showing a bit
- 29:36more of that mid range passing out to the out to the wings, and
- 29:40I've not seen that for last few games.
- 29:41I don't know why that's disappeared because that was
- 29:43what was getting everyone's attention.
- 29:44Yeah, obviously he's still doing the little stuff really nicely,
- 29:47but he's dropped the other stuff, like he's dropping the
- 29:50few runs of the ball or doing a little shimmy here and there and
- 29:53then spraying the ball out. So that's the frustrating
- 29:55because you know, he's done it. He's done it recently.
- 29:57So is it just because he's not been playing for a lot of season
- 30:01and he's tired or whatever? But I don't know.
- 30:03He's still getting 10 days rest between the game or whatever it
- 30:05is in most cases, so it should be there.
- 30:08Yeah. It feels like he's almost
- 30:10playing now, like you think he would should have played in
- 30:13those first games where he's trying to get to speed up with
- 30:16not playing for so long. So maybe I don't know what it
- 30:19is, but yeah, it's frustrating because, you know, he's got it
- 30:22in his locker. So is it a tactical thing or is
- 30:25it something he's just not doing?
- 30:28Yeah, maybe it's a bit of both and it's it's it's a tough one
- 30:30because we need it. And I think under Ameren we
- 30:33became the Bruno show. And obviously we know we love
- 30:36Bruno when he's a key player. But every it was like NFL,
- 30:38everything will go to our quarterback and then he'd try
- 30:41and create something. And there's a bit of that now.
- 30:43But I feel that we need different players in the team
- 30:45and copy the frustration from it is like he's got it in his
- 30:48locker to be that other person who's finding those that no one
- 30:51else can see or sometimes, yeah, dropping the shoulder, getting
- 30:54into spots and creating stuff. So again, this is I'm definitely
- 30:57not getting on onto Kobe. I think he's a great player and
- 31:00he's got the world in front of him, but he's just almost there
- 31:03and asked for a little bit more from him, you know, a little bit
- 31:06more risk taking. But again, like you said, you
- 31:08never know what he's being told by the coaching staff, whether
- 31:11it's just to play that role. But I hope not because what we
- 31:14saw against City and Arsenal for him was was exciting.
- 31:16So want more of that from him because you know, we love him
- 31:21and we want him to be the player that he can be as well.
- 31:24But then going back to some of the moments cast customer only
- 31:28shot off the Dallow and Agate and mentioning it because this
- 31:32is starting to gain some of the decisions when I saw them stubs,
- 31:34you know, some of them, you know, I think sure, sure was
- 31:37obviously had been ill, but I was a bit like, oh, not happy
- 31:41about those players coming on at that time, yes.
- 31:44Same, like, I just don't know why you really have to take a
- 31:48scenario off because it wasn't like I think they were paying 10
- 31:51men. Yeah, so they should get more
- 31:54tired quicker than Casimiro does, for example.
- 31:58And then the dollar won. I don't just wasn't brave enough
- 32:04in my opinion. Like you still won one.
- 32:06You've got 10 men. Like throw Kakunky, you know
- 32:10what I mean? Like somewhat just throw a bit
- 32:12more attacking. Put I'm out at right back, you
- 32:14know, I mean just something more attacking.
- 32:17It was yeah, I like, I just think it could have been a bit
- 32:20brave. Bit more brave, but easy.
- 32:22Just showing quite isn't just definitely showing just our
- 32:26squad. Yeah.
- 32:27Isn't there Other than being able to switch an attacker for
- 32:31another attacker as soon as there's any issues in the field?
- 32:34Yeah, Agate. And to be fair, I thought Agate
- 32:36actually played pretty well when he came on, to be fair to him.
- 32:41But yeah, when you've got he's your option, you're never
- 32:46confident that the game is going to improve.
- 32:47He's not going to improve the game at all.
- 32:50In most cases, you'll make it worse.
- 32:52And I think most people would rather have a slightly tired
- 32:54Castanero on this is a Bugatti and that's that's what I think.
- 33:00So yeah, really kind of when I saw her Subs, I was just a bit
- 33:03like, what's that going to do? Yeah, it's just, I didn't think
- 33:07it's going to change the game in any positive way.
- 33:09And I think that's what Subs should be doing.
- 33:11Yeah, it's, you know, 10 men, 11, Yeah, it's exactly.
- 33:15Yeah. Not the kind of players that you
- 33:16want to come on. You know, my heart sank a little
- 33:20bit. And yeah, I mean, question like
- 33:22Shay Lacy, what, you know, where's he done, for example,
- 33:25you know, he was an exciting player.
- 33:26Yeah, Wide, just a little of that.
- 33:29Again, young players. So we can't put everything on
- 33:31that, but you want those type of players to be coming on and. 10
- 33:35men, the risk having them on, we lost anyway, right, because of a
- 33:39counter having Shay Lacy on bringing attacking flair doesn't
- 33:44that wouldn't wouldn't have caused more goals, if that makes
- 33:47sense. Yeah, it creates more
- 33:48opportunity. It's an unknown player for them
- 33:51to defend against. It's really tricky.
- 33:53Like that's the kind of player you want to be bringing on.
- 33:56And so yeah, really like we'll get to some of those other
- 34:00steps. I guess one was injury base but
- 34:02Oh my God. Yeah, but before that as well,
- 34:08we had the Gordon mystery Makana, just completely
- 34:11unmarked. Yeah, I think it was, it was
- 34:14Kobe marking him, was it? Yeah.
- 34:16Because again, it was a bit like a bit like the Euro one where
- 34:21against Palace where he just kind of went one way and then
- 34:24quickly went the other way and mainly just got completely done
- 34:26by it and thankfully fluffed it. But it was, Although again,
- 34:32probably would have preferred them to score then than when
- 34:34they actually did because they would have a lot more time to
- 34:35try and get equalizer. But yeah, poor.
- 34:38We got away again, we got away, we won and generally just
- 34:40wasn't, you know, wasn't good enough for United.
- 34:43However, we then we had a little bit of a spell of Bruno playing
- 34:46chances and just basically chipping the ball into the back
- 34:49post for headers. So we had the Euro header, which
- 34:52I think you should have scored that.
- 34:54That was the best chance of the game, I'd say.
- 34:56Like he just, he had to put it. He could put it basically
- 35:01anywhere else on target, he would have scored it, but he put
- 35:03it basically right at him. Yeah, a decent height, but he
- 35:07was, he had time. There's no one on him at all.
- 35:08He completely lost his marker. So had had to score there.
- 35:11Like when he didn't score as that was it.
- 35:14That was the chance. Maybe they need to be some head
- 35:16and neck training with Benjamin Sesco.
- 35:18He needs to plan a class of yeah, the power he gets or a
- 35:22customer. Oh yeah, because you're just
- 35:24didn't have it did. He always ones where like if he
- 35:27almost like if he'd come off his bloody nose or something or his
- 35:30eyeball and like it got it a slightly different angle, he
- 35:32probably would have scored. Yeah.
- 35:33But because it kind of hit him dead in the forehead, he just
- 35:35went straight to the keeper. And it's yeah, really.
- 35:37And. Then while we're on headers, the
- 35:39Agate header is all quite a difficult one that I liked.
- 35:42What was harder on that? Yeah, like your little looper,
- 35:45but yeah, like it was it it wasn't like a really clear cut
- 35:50chance that it wasn't like the other one.
- 35:51I think he goes he made it into a chance, but then against my
- 35:54his ones with if I wanted to assess who's not 5 foot 4 at
- 35:59all. You got it totally.
- 36:00I suppose. He's not 6, he's not 6 foot five
- 36:03who can get his head right over it.
- 36:05So he's just why he's wondering. Wish it was why wasn't Cesco
- 36:08getting that delivery for the 1st 70 minutes?
- 36:11Like that's the kind of thing it was, which is frustrating.
- 36:14Fun fact, Aunty Soragate in a restaurant when I was with Mrs.
- 36:18S as. Well, than you are sure than
- 36:21you. He was sat down so I can't be
- 36:23sure, but I think he's definitely bigger than 54.
- 36:26Short theme is. Yeah, that little look at Mrs. S
- 36:29on the on the way in, to be honest, before you saw today
- 36:31because he saw me walking in. Cheeky, cheeky, yeah.
- 36:34So but then when I saw it was a Garcia, I was like, Oh yeah, OK,
- 36:36you can look. That's fine, yeah.
- 36:39So what you're you're Mrs. S getting to Boston.
- 36:41She's. Yeah, she's she's running off
- 36:43with the Emmanuel. She's running off with the
- 36:45Garcia. You can't blame her.
- 36:47You cannot blame her, Right? Completely lost my way.
- 36:51Now let's get back to football. And then as he was an attacking
- 36:55so Ahmad and Josh came on for Maine and then Buem all thoughts
- 37:00on those. Yeah, I might would like to see
- 37:03earlier. And also I get like I said, I
- 37:05probably would have liked him to maybe come on at right back just
- 37:10to offer like doubly attacking threat and keep keep Brian on
- 37:15because I just keep them guessing.
- 37:16But as soon as I'm I was out there, I know it's going to get
- 37:18to I'm out and there's no kind of threat really coming from
- 37:20garlic. And then Josh again, it's a bit
- 37:24like actually again, a bit like Ugarte.
- 37:26I thought he actually played quite well.
- 37:29Like he did some quite good stuff.
- 37:30You'll see that really good shot and he was kind of linking up
- 37:33quite well. But it's just not the player
- 37:36who's going to change the game for us.
- 37:37Like maybe one in 10 games, you'll make a big impact and
- 37:40score that goal might go in, but on the whole you don't back Josh
- 37:44to to change the game and which is a shame.
- 37:48I thought he actually did all right when he came.
- 37:50On that guy though, let me talk about Josh quickly.
- 37:52So like I think it was in Bermo who said he's surprised the Josh
- 37:56was surprised him more than anyone in how much skill he's
- 37:59got. And I feel the same about Xerxe.
- 38:03I'm just like, the guy is too chill.
- 38:06He's almost got like that bird. Yeah, they have a tough swagger
- 38:08about him, but not really justified.
- 38:10In a minute. Now the.
- 38:11Output. Yeah, just.
- 38:12Want to, like, shake him? What is it?
- 38:14I'm going on on Sundays. Yeah.
- 38:16But is it the daddy long legs? It's the most poisonous and
- 38:18can't use it. It's like Josh, the
- 38:21understanding long legs in football.
- 38:23Yeah, literally. Like me.
- 38:24Come on. Like you've got.
- 38:26He's got his first touch. And what he's capable of on the
- 38:29ball is absolutely brilliant. But sometimes I just want to
- 38:33shake the guy and just go like you need to also find a gear.
- 38:37Shake him and say you're gonna this is your last Basie 10 games
- 38:41to maybe keep a united career. Yeah.
- 38:44And he just doesn't seem that asked.
- 38:46He must know he's probably gonna get sold in this summer if he
- 38:49doesn't make a certain impact. And he's a lady said he's got
- 38:53he's got the kind of most of the raw attributes there.
- 38:55It looks like he's got a skill. He's a big, he's a big unit.
- 38:57He's got a good passer. He showed he has a good shot on
- 39:00him. He just doesn't put it together
- 39:01enough. And I feel like it's just
- 39:03application or anything. It's just like, yeah, he said.
- 39:06He's just chill to chill. To chill, yeah, relaxed man
- 39:11needs to get you. We need to shoot a lot more and
- 39:13get him going. But yeah, that's my little
- 39:14roundabout was actually be again because I think he's got in
- 39:17there if he could. And then we had a Bruno effort.
- 39:22It's kind of the high on Live from the edge of the Box Junior
- 39:25again. And then obviously a key moment.
- 39:28Annoyingly, Murphy and Azula came on for Elenger and Gordon
- 39:33and Murphy's always a bit of a handful and so when he came on I
- 39:36was a bit nervous about him coming on Assoula.
- 39:39I've seen bits but wasn't. But I've literally not seen him
- 39:42before. Yeah, I was like, he's this guy.
- 39:45He's mint. That's how he's unbelievable.
- 39:49Absolutely rapid and world. He's striking it.
- 39:51Is he meant or is he also because we then had to bring on
- 39:54the last year for Maserati as well?
- 39:57Oh my God. Well, last year.
- 39:59Why is he coming on instead of Kikonki?
- 40:02Kikonki's like a unit Athletic can play centre back and play
- 40:06right back, left back, wherever. Like, Oh my, he's probably
- 40:10played more football than the last year, obviously kind of
- 40:13youth level. But you know, I was watching him
- 40:15and I'm like, what is he doing? He was everywhere but doing
- 40:19nothing. Like he was defending like a
- 40:22lunatic, but not actually defending.
- 40:23And then at one point we were attacking down the left and he
- 40:26was up there kind of in the box and then suddenly sprinting back
- 40:29but not doing anything. I think that was maybe actually
- 40:30for the goal. I was like, what I what was he
- 40:33doing? I only saw him.
- 40:34I didn't think he touched the ball.
- 40:38So bad. Yeah, I know.
- 40:40I. Don't know why he's coming on.
- 40:41I know you're a passionate member of the Right Back union,
- 40:44but I think I would have rather you come on.
- 40:45It was a bit like you coming on, like as a United fan, just like
- 40:48running around going. It's amazing.
- 40:51Yeah, I've got it. He's got the energy.
- 40:54And then burn after 2 minutes. Yeah, just running like a blue
- 40:57ass spot. Fly like he was.
- 40:59He was. He was just sprinting at people,
- 41:01wasn't he? Just like.
- 41:02Yeah, but it was ridiculous. Oh God.
- 41:08Yeah. So that wasn't great, but then
- 41:10what was? It you should start next week.
- 41:12That's for sure. Yeah.
- 41:12Captain Molassia. Weird, Weird decision.
- 41:16Weird decision. See, I'm seeing you got like,
- 41:18heaven on the bench as well. You just, you know, you'd offer
- 41:21that height for crosses and things like that as well and.
- 41:23He's and he's pacey as well. Yeah.
- 41:25He's not slow, yeah. Not just backed his actually a
- 41:28little bit. He did have that effort after
- 41:29that as well then, which was another.
- 41:31Yeah, that's another one. Like that is a really, really
- 41:34good save. Like that was some strike.
- 41:37I think he's actually, when he hit it, I think he thought he
- 41:39was in. Yeah, he did I.
- 41:40Thought it was in. Like how we get.
- 41:43He's going top corner. How We Get Done by Aaron
- 41:45Ramsdale. He's everyone.
- 41:47'S annoying like shouty keepers as well celebrates everything
- 41:51and Dan Burn annoyed me at one point where he he did like a
- 41:55blocked across and then celebrated like it won the World
- 41:58Cup. I was like like you.
- 42:04Nice, nicely censoring yourself. Actually, I like it.
- 42:07You can tell this is a complete different energy from other
- 42:09podcasts with all the stuff in there.
- 42:12I love it. I love it.
- 42:14And then, just while we're disillusional, A sealer even
- 42:17you've never even seen runs past Charlie Robertson molasses and
- 42:23literally scores an absolute worldly from the edge of the box
- 42:26that I think still curling now. Yeah, ridiculous.
- 42:30Like yeah, he went, he went like his run.
- 42:35Obviously they should have stopped his run.
- 42:36I think he was it was it was. I think McGuire goes to him and
- 42:41then he drops back, which is he should have just cluttered in
- 42:44basically was really sure just cluttered in.
- 42:47Don't think even the money any car and.
- 42:51Then he basically came inside the ball.
- 42:54Yeah, because because McGuire was tracking him and then he
- 42:57kind of was like, and I think last year was coming from this
- 42:58side and then McGuire drops back and then he just runs past both
- 43:01of them and you're like the McGuire was closer, I think to
- 43:04disrupt him or slow him down. But because he dropped, then the
- 43:08space carried on being open, and then the fly just fucking fuzzed
- 43:13around. Him and then just buzz it yeah,
- 43:18I mean and. Then he just popped it in the
- 43:19corner. I got like the finish was
- 43:20unbelievable. It's been like that, that bit of
- 43:23game where Roger scored two, well, deeds.
- 43:25It's like sometimes you can't stop those.
- 43:28But the game should have been like, we should have won that
- 43:33game based on not based on performance, but based on the
- 43:35situation. And so like, the Newcastle
- 43:39deserves to win, not based on like, creating lots of chances
- 43:42and doing lots, but based on their approach to the game, the
- 43:46application of their tactics, their energy and their response
- 43:49to having ten men. They did deserve it, but not in
- 43:51terms of like, they should have scored seven goals.
- 43:54But you know, I mean, they deserved, they played better
- 43:56than us and next year their game plan much better than we did.
- 43:59And that goal was just yeah, yeah, really good goal.
- 44:02Like from a from a finished perspective, but annoying.
- 44:05More like poor defending I would say.
- 44:06One little point and look, it's a great strike and like say I
- 44:09think it's still curling now and I won't have a bad word said
- 44:12about lemons. But when I watched your back and
- 44:14I watched it back a couple of times, he weirdly just kind of
- 44:17maybe it's not quipped and but just watches it almost like and
- 44:21it's not a million miles away from him.
- 44:22And I was just a bit surprised that he didn't even die for it.
- 44:26Was it that good of a strike that he just thought no?
- 44:28I think it was. I don't think he, I don't think
- 44:30he was, I don't think he can blame him for anything.
- 44:33No blame, no blame. I think I was just just because
- 44:35he's brilliant. I was just he literally just
- 44:38twist his body. I'm kind of one me and just
- 44:40watched it go in. I.
- 44:41Thought I think it was going to the corner flag.
- 44:44It's going towards the corner flag and then whipped in
- 44:47basically. So he was like, oh, that's
- 44:48that's probably going to be a goal kick.
- 44:49And then it. He's put that much whip on it,
- 44:52yeah. Bend it like cool quip.
- 44:56Yeah, I love it. Well, at least we're laughing.
- 44:58But unfortunately, the end result?
- 45:01Bad performance, United, Newcastle went to one missed
- 45:05opportunity. You know, even a point would
- 45:07have been, you know, would have been helpful.
- 45:09I've taken the .100%. Yeah, but wasn't to be, wasn't
- 45:12to be. That difficult question when
- 45:14we've lost them. We're annoyed, as you said,
- 45:16about 30 times on this podcast already, but man of the match
- 45:19from your point of view? Basically a random one, but I
- 45:23think he made a massive impact on the second-half and really
- 45:29help them applicate their their kind of 10 man structure.
- 45:33Billy Willock, like he kept causing problems and I think he
- 45:38kept us on edge because multiple times he won fouls on the wing.
- 45:43He kept running out, running out with it and we kept, again, he
- 45:46kept going down a lot as well. And I genuinely thought he was a
- 45:51major impact on them kind of getting that goal in second-half
- 45:54and keeping us on edge back then potentially be on the score.
- 45:59So yeah, random one, but I'm saying him, he's thinking made a
- 46:01massive impact in that game. Yeah, it's a fair show, fair
- 46:05show. I am.
- 46:06I've mentioned him a couple of times, but I kind of probably
- 46:09thought about Joe Linton. I think the game just yeah, he's
- 46:12a he's a beast in he, but he was just thorn in our side all day,
- 46:15I think in terms of just making runs and connecting, you know,
- 46:20the attack as well. So he was definitely a handful
- 46:22and then a player that I definitely mentioned in the
- 46:25preview and just someone I really appreciate.
- 46:27It's just Lewis Hall, I think he's a very tidy footballer left
- 46:30back. Yeah, yeah, I.
- 46:31Thought you did a good job as well and then show replacement.
- 46:38Maybe not. For some reason I'm hesitating.
- 46:43He's, I would say he's probably better than what sure does now,
- 46:47yeah, but he's not. He shouldn't.
- 46:50Basically, we should have a better left back than both of
- 46:52them. Yeah, right.
- 46:53Yeah, yeah. I think that's where I'm at.
- 46:54I think he's a good player, good player for Newcastle.
- 46:58Not sure if I'd be excited to bring him in, particularly to
- 47:01start position. I also did a little, I did a
- 47:04little mention for Cunion. Definitely not a man on a match
- 47:07performance, but I did like some of his.
- 47:09In terms of United players, for me, he was the one that kind of
- 47:12got about it the most and tried to make things happen.
- 47:16So a little mention to him. But yeah, I think he definitely
- 47:19has to be a Newcastle player for yeah, yeah, just on Newcastle
- 47:22generally. Thoughts on them?
- 47:24We mentioned them in the preview and we had some question marks
- 47:27over him. After you've seen them against
- 47:28us, what do you think? I think they just that's what
- 47:33they do really well is that kind of backs against the wall.
- 47:37Everyone hates us. Like they they play well in like
- 47:41physical, physical chaos is what I kind of say, and that's their
- 47:45kind of style, particularly when they got some of their better
- 47:48players that injured and that would have a kind of proper
- 47:51striker money. So like, I think I feel like
- 47:55they're probably slightly better than where they are in the
- 47:58league at the moment, but because of Champions League
- 47:59football. But they I don't think they
- 48:01should be pushing for Champions League football again, based on
- 48:04their current team and tactics. Yeah.
- 48:05And they're just one of those teams that they turn up like,
- 48:08don't they? They, I think they're 10 men
- 48:09against Liverpool early in the season and played, played
- 48:13exactly the same. I think Liverpool got a late
- 48:14winner rather than they did. But yeah, it was that that young
- 48:18kid who came on and scored for Liverpool.
- 48:22And I think that's the kind of game they love, say, playing us
- 48:27and a night game kind of backstairs the wall.
- 48:29When they play over to their home, they lose.
- 48:32I think they lost their last three games at home.
- 48:34Yeah, before that. So I guess a bit almost a bit
- 48:39like us in a sense that they can get themselves up for the big
- 48:41games, but they let the lesser games kind of drift and that's
- 48:45why they are where they are. And then that's kind of
- 48:49annoyingly, we deemed them as a lesser team, so we didn't turn
- 48:51up. Yeah, no, yeah, I'm with you.
- 48:54I deem yesterday a little bit more about was being bad than,
- 48:57you know, them being then great. You know, I think like you said,
- 49:01Eddie Howe got it right versus Carrick.
- 49:04Yeah. And then you mentioned it in the
- 49:06preview as well, but I just don't know if their business has
- 49:08been has been that good. And obviously Zac was a massive
- 49:11loss for them as well, you know, in terms of the goals that he
- 49:13brought. So yeah, I don't see them as
- 49:17someone who should be, you know, challenging anytime soon, but
- 49:21annoying makes it more annoying because they were there for the
- 49:23taking and we just didn't. We didn't sure.
- 49:26Even though they, you know, they had a pretty good, good game
- 49:28plan. Let's try and find some positive
- 49:31chess in what was there. I'm going to start with my row,
- 49:34I think. Again, just good player, tidy
- 49:37player coming in is at least, you know, just pretty solid.
- 49:41And what about you? Yeah, the whole thing you also
- 49:45mentioned is fantastic hair transplant he's had.
- 49:48A wonderful. Very fit last night, wasn't it?
- 49:50Very, very. Good job, luscious locks that
- 49:53he's now got. Yeah, yeah.
- 49:55Yeah, he's not got, yeah, Paul says.
- 49:58I think he got a same last year, right?
- 50:00He was class. Any game on?
- 50:04He's lost it. To be fair, I I'm really
- 50:09struggling to pull anything out that I can really say.
- 50:12Like Junior for the first half was making runs, but I think he
- 50:17just looked better than everyone else because everyone else is so
- 50:19poor. Like I don't think for example,
- 50:22like Yarrow defensively wasn't he didn't cause any of the
- 50:26issues. It's fairly solid.
- 50:29He's had a bit of stick recently.
- 50:30So I'd give him like he was probably a 7 out of 10, maybe a
- 50:35six because he could have scored the header.
- 50:37But yeah, basically I don't really have many positives, I'm
- 50:41afraid. No.
- 50:41Fair enough. Yeah, I think if I'm really
- 50:43being optimistic, I think you mentioned at the start as well,
- 50:47hopefully this is now just a test for Carrick.
- 50:49You know, if you're going to really, if you're going to
- 50:51really evaluate him on potentially getting the job,
- 50:53it's moments like this where we need to see something, right.
- 50:56It's Yeah and the. Game next game as well, right
- 50:59against one of the the key rivals for for Jamie's league,
- 51:02massive home. Yeah, like that's a huge.
- 51:05It's almost a perfect game I think for us to respond to
- 51:07again. Part of me thinks would be
- 51:10better if it'd be more of a test that Carrick and Harry respond
- 51:15and Harry got a team prepared after a loss for Wolves or
- 51:19Bournemouth. But because it's Villa and their
- 51:21arrival, I assume and hope that the team are going to be well up
- 51:26for it on the back of a loss. And it's it's a rival for
- 51:29Champions League football. So again, maybe it's not the
- 51:31complete test, but it's a massive 1 to see what he does.
- 51:34Does he change tactics? Does he just get them fired up,
- 51:37get the mentality right, get the energy right?
- 51:40It's annoying we have to wait whatever it is 11 days to find
- 51:42out. Yeah, really annoying, really,
- 51:43and I will do it. We'll do a full preview of Dylan
- 51:46next week, as well as to make sure you subscribe.
- 51:48Don't follow in for that. But yeah, I think it'd just be
- 51:50interesting to see now you know, what the response is.
- 51:53So that's one definitely not positive, but something I think
- 51:56is an opportunity for us to really evaluate Carrick and
- 51:59yeah, because, yeah, real bad performance again.
- 52:02And I think what I'm worried about is just a bit of a trend
- 52:05in terms of how we're starting games and, you know, how we're
- 52:09playing ourselves. I'm worried that, you know,
- 52:11there's some old habits creeping back in the plays of almost
- 52:14like, you know, the honeymoon period has passed now.
- 52:16And I just don't want us to return to that.
- 52:18There's no need because he wants to know that, you know, you want
- 52:20to be part of the winning united when the mood's up and stuff
- 52:23like that as well. So I hope it is a bit of a bit
- 52:26of a, you know, not that. And we can, you know, we can we
- 52:30can actually have a bit of a response.
- 52:31So there's some time there. Let's make ourselves a little
- 52:35bit happier and everyone listening before we go Wolves
- 52:38versus Liverpool, so. Absolutely love it.
- 52:43Because I'm such a kill cat, I was actually playing snooker and
- 52:46was just getting the there was there is the disclosure on my
- 52:50phone. And then I saw Wolves went one a
- 52:52lot and I was like what? And then I saw Liverpool
- 52:54equalizer fire. We go, we'll get a win and then
- 52:57a late winner for Wolves. Fantastic.
- 53:01I say like fair play to to them since since he's come in like
- 53:08they've got, they've become really hard to because even the
- 53:10games they've not won, they've been mainly drawing.
- 53:13So yeah, yeah, fair play. And obviously to beat Liverpool
- 53:16was amazing. Like you just wonder like if
- 53:18they've made the change earlier, could they stay up?
- 53:20Like I think obviously them still 9 points adrift or
- 53:24something mad like that, but be in Liverpool and be drawing with
- 53:28Arsenal and like like it could go on a mad run.
- 53:32It'd be the greatest of escapes ever if they do it, but I think
- 53:36they just left them too much to do.
- 53:37But lovely to see Liverpool drop some more points and obviously
- 53:41annoying we didn't capitalize on it.
- 53:43But always love to see this guys is these.
- 53:45Yeah, it gave us a bit of a runway, right?
- 53:48It made the defeat less of a thing, yeah.
- 53:53I think I saw a start that they they've, I don't think they've
- 53:57lost 5 but there's five games now.
- 54:00Liverpool this season have conceded like 90 plus minute
- 54:06equalizers or losses, which I'm here to hear for, especially
- 54:09because at the start of the season they kept getting last
- 54:11minute winners. Yeah, and it was like also sign
- 54:13a champions. Actually, you just shake me so.
- 54:17Yeah, no, but I made this, made things a little bit easier,
- 54:20which is nice. Chelsea thumb, Villa 41.
- 54:23They're gonna have the tails up now.
- 54:24I couldn't expect that. Yeah, didn't see that come in
- 54:27like I saw. Obviously vendor went one up as
- 54:29well. So, yeah, it was not expecting
- 54:33that score really. Like, I think that's Chelsea
- 54:36though, isn't it? It's very much hot and cold.
- 54:38You don't know which one's going to turn up.
- 54:39And I think I don't know what's going on.
- 54:41Villa, like Emory's normally kind of Mr. Calm, calculated
- 54:47kind of things just took over. Nice.
- 54:48But they had was it this season had a really bad start.
- 54:51They want a massive run, but that massive room was lots of
- 54:54worldly goals, lots of goals from outside the air.
- 54:56So maybe they're just finally catching up and some of these
- 54:59shots we were going crossbar and in and I just hit the crossbar
- 55:02and not, you know what I mean? Like, but obviously it's good
- 55:06time hoping to be playing them. But again, similar situation.
- 55:10They've got time to prepare. Probably going to be really
- 55:12fired up. So give me a really interesting
- 55:15game. I mean, we have, we play them.
- 55:16Big game, big game. Just back on Chelsea.
- 55:18Some sweet sweet fantasy points for me and Joe Pedro upfront.
- 55:21Unfortunately not captain. I had also benched Matty Cash
- 55:26for Sanesi, which is a good move because Cash got -1 and Sanesi
- 55:30got 11. So very happy with that
- 55:32management decision which is. My fantasy has gone down the
- 55:35drain. On the slide.
- 55:37And on the slide and the old slide and.
- 55:39Then let's quickly mention the title race.
- 55:41Unfortunately. So Arsenal got the winners that
- 55:44he drew. Yeah, it's obviously this.
- 55:48I'm obviously happy because I don't want to still in the
- 55:50league, really hate Arsenal fans.
- 55:52Yeah, because they're absolutely awful Yeah, I think I posted
- 55:56something on our social showing like thinking they're better
- 55:59than Real Madrid and soccer should be bell and door and all
- 56:01this crazy, crazy chat they have so just annoying that they're
- 56:05going to win the league. But I'm still overall I'll be
- 56:06happy that they win the league, but I'm just I'm just not
- 56:10mentally prepared for good time. Is the World Cup actually is
- 56:12coming? Because there'll be less noise
- 56:14for the whole summer about Arsenal being the greatest team
- 56:17on earth because yeah, it's got another like stinky one nil win,
- 56:22didn't they against Brighton and yes, City drawing at home to
- 56:26Forest? Yeah, I think just shows they're
- 56:28there. I think everyone kind of
- 56:30predicted it and not really that's it, the season.
- 56:34So I think Arsenal go on and win it now.
- 56:36Yeah I agree, but also on the city stuff, Forest getting that
- 56:40point and West Ham winning really dragged Spurs down into
- 56:44it. Yeah, yeah, big time.
- 56:47Is it one point difference between Spurs and.
- 56:49They're on 29 and Forest West Ham around 28 I think.
- 56:55And I don't think Spurs, his games are getting any easier.
- 56:57They played, I saw rumours that they might be thinking of a
- 57:01sacking Igor already. It's like that club is madness.
- 57:05What are you, Big Sam? Big if they get pulled into
- 57:09that, honestly, the wheels are going to come up and if they get
- 57:11pulled, if they end up signing a bomb free, all the fans are
- 57:14going to panic and it's going to be mad honestly, it's going to
- 57:17be absolutely mad it's. Mad I'm here for it, yeah.
- 57:21But yeah, that was that was kind of that was the match week.
- 57:25And now unfortunately we've got an FA Cup weekend which we're
- 57:29not part of and no United game for 10 days, which is the worst.
- 57:34So please out there, be careful what you listen to and what you
- 57:37died, yes, because you know what, it's going to be like kind
- 57:39of yesterday because of Carrick's not the right man.
- 57:41You know, you've already got schools chatting nonsense and
- 57:44social and there's going to be all that stuff now in terms of.
- 57:47Can I have a rant about about this?
- 57:49Go for it. I'm just so fed up of mainly
- 57:53like keen Skulls, but Gary Neville like he's your old
- 57:57teammate, like assuming you get along celebrating goals
- 58:01together, why are they being so negative towards him?
- 58:05Like how is it helping Manchester United?
- 58:08Like, even if you agree that agree with that, I'll think of
- 58:10that in the background. Like you don't need the money to
- 58:13get clicks and more views on your podcast or your Instagram
- 58:17story, whatever it is. Like you're not social media
- 58:19stars desperate for cash. Like, what are you doing?
- 58:22Just support the club like you can.
- 58:24You can be negative and you can speak kind of constructively or
- 58:30mention negative things. But the way like, stores his
- 58:32post last night, like, it's like childish, like it's like school
- 58:36ground, like bullying, like Carrie not so special now.
- 58:40It's like Carrie's never said he's special himself.
- 58:43It's the media. The Carrie doesn't talk much
- 58:45over them when he has to. Like, it's just so annoying.
- 58:48And they're all at it. Like all of them are just so
- 58:50negative. Like Keen saying, oh, wait, if
- 58:52we win, if he wins all 17 games, I still wouldn't hire him.
- 58:56What the hell? Like, I think his record at the
- 58:58moment still is one of the best ever United manager.
- 59:00I know it's a small yeah sample size, but I just really
- 59:04frustrating that these like skull is my favorite player ever
- 59:08on the pitch but like he started tainted just gonna like just
- 59:11support the club yeah in the right way.
- 59:13And if you think things are slight negative, think about how
- 59:15this is going to impact united, how it's going to impact the
- 59:18payers, how it's going to impact impact Carrick and just be like
- 59:22well actually maybe I won't post that on social media because I
- 59:24don't think he's deleted it now on the story to try and find it.
- 59:27I couldn't see it, just really annoying.
- 59:29And then why? But why?
- 59:31Why is it negative? I totally agree with you.
- 59:33Like what is the motivation? You know, like, obviously
- 59:35they're allowed to be frustrated too.
- 59:36And also and you know, they care about United and want us to win.
- 59:39But it's at times like this where you want to look to those
- 59:42players to get like pills of wisdom or just something we
- 59:45haven't seen, not some stupid, you know, little whinge about
- 59:50what's going on or, you know, just something that makes, yeah,
- 59:53annoyed. So yeah, I totally agree.
- 59:55It's just I don't I don't get it.
- 59:56And I don't understand why they jumped on it.
- 59:58Maybe it's what's. The game for your love of the
- 1:00:01club. Exactly.
- 1:00:02Particularly when it's like karaoke.
- 1:00:03He's actually just, you know, really conducted himself super
- 1:00:05well. And yeah, actually, we've showed
- 1:00:08some promise. So strange.
- 1:00:11Don't get it at all. Do not get it at all.
- 1:00:13No, it's really annoying me. I just see lots of point now
- 1:00:15I've stopped listening to some of the podcasts they're on
- 1:00:20because I'm like podcasts I always used to listen to enjoy.
- 1:00:22I've just been like, like you hear Gary Neville buddy again
- 1:00:26one time. Think of her PC.
- 1:00:28Way to say it. But like waxing lyrical about
- 1:00:31Bernardo Silver everybody week and thinking Cesco's is still
- 1:00:35got to prove himself. Obviously Cesco's not a complete
- 1:00:37player, but like, where's some positivity around the goals he's
- 1:00:40scoring and the upturn in performance?
- 1:00:42Like just so frustrating. I Skulls.
- 1:00:46Come on the fellow Reds podcast and explain yourself.
- 1:00:49What you up to What you up to Yeah, let's have a chat.
- 1:00:52Let's have a chat. Get out there, get out there.
- 1:00:55But yeah, really annoying. We've got 10 days now to kind of
- 1:00:58lick our wounds and stuff. Stay positive.
- 1:01:01You know, it's been a been a good one.
- 1:01:03It's been a good one. It's been a good period.
- 1:01:05Obviously we've had some dips in performance, but you've got to
- 1:01:08think about some of those results we've had as well.
- 1:01:10And where we're sat on the table is Rosie.
- 1:01:12So I really hope that Carrie can and his team can can really sit
- 1:01:16down and and dissect what's going on and we can get a
- 1:01:19really, really good result against filler.
- 1:01:21As I mentioned, we'll do a proper preview of that game next
- 1:01:25week. So so watch out for that.
- 1:01:28But yeah, let's leave it there, Chaz, and thank you.
- 1:01:31Thank you very much for watching and listening.
- 1:01:33Whatever you're doing that Please remember to subscribe.
- 1:01:36Please remember to follow. Give us a like give us your
- 1:01:39comments as well. What do you think?
- 1:01:40You know, I'm sure you're frustrated as well.
- 1:01:42Let us know what what you saw. Have we missed anything and how
- 1:01:46come we? Did I say annoying in this
- 1:01:48podcast? Let us know, let us know, but it
- 1:01:53wasn't I wasn't. It really was.
- 1:01:54Get one more in there. But yeah, thanks.
- 1:01:57Thanks so much, as always, for watching my loving doing this
- 1:02:00even in these these ones where we've not got the win.
- 1:02:03Different, different energy, but it was it was fun as well.
- 1:02:06So yeah, hope you all have a great weekend and we'll see you
- 1:02:10in the next one.
