- 0:16Welcome back to the store, everybody.
- 0:17We're your host, Nick and Evan this week on WASD and beyond.
- 0:22Our reactions are stunned. We just saw a picture of Alex
- 0:26Jones with a Shitler mustache. The world's upside down.
- 0:33I have a photo for this. I have a photo for this
- 0:36response. I mean, it doesn't matter.
- 0:37We're recording so they they won't see it, but it'll.
- 0:40Be funny for you. I can look on my phone.
- 0:43I can look on my phone. Yeah, but that's what's
- 0:46happening. He, this clown said the effect
- 0:49that this mustache has had on women has been amazing.
- 0:53He says they don't know how to handle themselves.
- 0:55He says they're throwing their. I hate this word, but he they're
- 0:58throwing their panties at him. Yeah, I've.
- 1:02Yeah, I'm struggling to stand out.
- 1:03Yeah, I'm fucking I I hate what the world's becoming.
- 1:08Yeah, man, I think something in the like, no, something in the
- 1:15universe. It's not just limited to us.
- 1:17I think, I think there's like a universal, like there's a
- 1:20quantum issue going in behind the scenes and the the creators
- 1:24can't figure it out and they're trying to know what happened.
- 1:27It's affecting us. I know what happened too.
- 1:30Harambe died. That fucking kid.
- 1:33Yeah. If you're the kid out there who
- 1:35caused that fucking gorilla to die.
- 1:38I've don't know. No, no, no we don't.
- 1:40Know punch you in the nuts. No, we're not going to hurt that
- 1:43kid. We're not going to hurt that
- 1:46kid. However, we're.
- 1:47Not going to. We're not.
- 1:48Going to hurt our children around.
- 1:50I was our anchor being and now we've lost them.
- 1:52So things are going progressively more wrong, you
- 1:56know. They're bad.
- 1:57Everything's bad. You know what's kind of getting
- 1:59better? What?
- 2:01Video games. You know what's getting really

- 2:57Let's get into the show. Cool.
- 2:58So yeah, now that we've gotten all that out of the way, God, I
- 3:00just hate Alex Jones. He's already been banned from
- 3:02YouTube. He and because because of the
- 3:06stash. He and Nick Fuentes were both
- 3:08banned less than 12 hours after they were brought back or
- 3:10allowed back, which is really funny 'cause it's like it's,
- 3:15it's also, it's more just funny on the side of YouTube going
- 3:19like, maybe they've changed, maybe they won't violate our
- 3:23TOS. Like, have you been paying
- 3:24attention? You, you know.
- 3:26The best part about this episode so far?
- 3:30You're talking about how stupid I think that fucking guy is.
- 3:33But. Brody has his headphone
- 3:35headphones in right now at work going.
- 3:38Oh, yeah, he's like, he's like, where's this going to go?
- 3:40These two, these two idiots have whiskey in hand and are already
- 3:45talking about Alex Jones. They're supposed to be talking
- 3:46about video. Games let's Why don't we talk
- 3:48about video games? Let's do that.
- 3:50There's been a couple of good games that have come out
- 3:52recently. Yeah, you've, in my opinion, I,
- 3:55I've, I've, I've heard Kronos was up and down.
- 3:58Really. I know you hopped in and kind of
- 4:00immediately hopped out. Yeah, I got like 40 minutes in
- 4:03and then I kind of just was like, this is not for me.
- 4:06Did it feel? Like a bad version of Dead Space
- 4:08because I'm kind. Of hearing that it felt like
- 4:10just a cheap, cheap version of Dead Space and I, I hesitate to
- 4:14use the word cheap, but it just wasn't like there were things
- 4:19that were off to to me the the combat did not feel as visceral
- 4:23or intense. So that's kind of where more so
- 4:27was with me of like, it was supposed to be like Dead Space,
- 4:30but it wasn't really scary and it wasn't as intensive combat as
- 4:35I was expecting. You know, like in even the Dead
- 4:38Space remake, which is probably the most accurate Dead Space
- 4:41experience I've had because I didn't play the originals
- 4:43because I was probably too young at the time and also didn't
- 4:47really like horror or scary things.
- 4:52I love the remake, but the remake also gave me a sense of
- 4:55pure terror of like, I don't know what's around the corner.
- 4:59I don't know if I have the ammo to kill it.
- 5:02I don't know what I'm going to have to do to kill it.
- 5:05And also everything is disgusting and gross.
- 5:09And like, that was kind of the thing about it.
- 5:12I told that to you before was that Dead Space sort of kept
- 5:15this quality of like if it was environmental necromorph type
- 5:19stuff like growths on the wall or like, you know, just flesh
- 5:24that held up in the same way that the actual enemies did.
- 5:28So there was a sense of everything kind of matched.
- 5:31And in Kronos that doesn't really feel the same.
- 5:33The enemies you fight almost look worse than the environment.
- 5:36So it's sort of like takes you out of it right away.
- 5:40So yeah, that was kind of it. Also performance wasn't too good
- 5:43if you had frame Gen. on your input delay was insane.
- 5:47No, not dealing with that. We've had Borderlands 4 very
- 5:52well met minus Randy Pitchford being the dumb dumpy fuck that
- 5:56he is. Hey Randy, hop on the show.
- 5:59I don't know, let's talk. He will not.
- 6:02I don't think if you called him a dumb dumpy fuck, I don't think
- 6:05he would show. I don't think I would show up.
- 6:06I'm not the one dropping US BS full of porn everywhere.
- 6:10That's true. This isn't what he's in hot
- 6:11water for now though, right? This is he's just telling people
- 6:14to figure out how to run Borderlands for.
- 6:18And Brody and I talked about that last week.
- 6:19So it won't rehash. But also, Randy, give Duke Nukem
- 6:21back. Let's give that back.
- 6:24That's a special request. Yeah, let's give Duke Nukem
- 6:27back. You're not doing anything with
- 6:28the IP. No, give that back.
- 6:32Silk song, obviously. Smash hit.
- 6:34Everyone loves the game. I got some.
- 6:36Yes, you especially. Everybody in the discord has
- 6:40heard me rage over Grawl, the great worst boss in the fucking
- 6:46game. This thing is trash.
- 6:48It's not fucking fun. I don't know what made you, the
- 6:51developers team Cherry, think that was fun.
- 6:53It's not bullshit. I hate it anyways.
- 6:55I love the game though. I bet I could beat it.
- 7:00I bet you could because of how you hopped into soul the souls
- 7:07series. Oh, well, that didn't it wasn't
- 7:12immediate though. That was that took me time.
- 7:14Well, I had to get you guys to play the Co-op with me.
- 7:17That was the only way that I kind of like I got a good
- 7:20weapon. And then I was like, oh, I was
- 7:22like that Danny DeVito meme where I was like, I get it now,
- 7:25Like I understood what to do. I I guess so.
- 7:30But I do want to play a Silk song because I hear how
- 7:34difficult it is from you and Morgan and sometimes Steve, and
- 7:37I want to challenge myself. I think it'd be a lot of fun,
- 7:40so. It's a it's a great
- 7:42Metroidvania. I have it downloaded.
- 7:43Fucking time. Thank you Game Pass.
- 7:45So. I mean, it's it's fun.
- 7:47It's it's great. Yeah.
- 7:48Thank you, Game Pass. And there's so much coming out
- 7:50in October. But thank you, Phil.
- 7:53Thank you so much, Phil. P3.
- 7:56Doug Bowser is retiring from Nintendo.
- 7:58Yes, he is. That's.
- 7:59That's that's crazy. They're replacing with Mario
- 8:02Luigi. Luigi, Mario.
- 8:05Oh, Luigi, my bad. Mario Mario.
- 8:07Luigi Mario. That's.
- 8:08From the 90s film. My bad.
- 8:09Watch it I'm. Sorry I got really fucked up one
- 8:12night. Just watch Super Mario's film.
- 8:13That sounds. Like a violently fucked up
- 8:17before work day. No, that sounds even worse.
- 8:20Oh, come on. So, yeah, there's there's a bit
- 8:23of news right there. But you know, October's right
- 8:26around the corner. We got some huge, huge games
- 8:29coming out. You're talking about, you're
- 8:30talking about you. You missed Game of the year,
- 8:32contend contender Dying Light the Beast.
- 8:36Evan is playing Dying Light the Beast.
- 8:39Why don't? You briefly, yeah.
- 8:40I'm not going to talk about it too much.
- 8:42I'll just say I have 34 hours in it right now.
- 8:46I don't know where I'm at in terms of finishing the story,
- 8:47but I've loved it so far. It is basically like as if they
- 8:52took the lessons learned from 1:00 and 2:00 and just applied
- 8:55everything into a new game and it.
- 8:56Was the best rated game they've done right.
- 8:59Yeah, it's the well best rated Dying Light game.
- 9:01I don't know if these guys have done other.
- 9:03I know these guys have done other games.
- 9:04I don't remember what I think Dead Island, I could be wrong,
- 9:08but even either way, yeah, I mean they're pretty similar.
- 9:12But this game is a lot of fun. The parkour is really cool.
- 9:16I like that. The biggest issue, like I was
- 9:18talking about with our friend Morgan in the discord yesterday,
- 9:21was that the second game gave you an energy bar and you had
- 9:26basically very low energy at the beginning of the second game.
- 9:29So you couldn't enjoy a lot of the parkour aspect of it until
- 9:32you kind of levelled up significantly.
- 9:35Like I'm talking like maybe 1015 and then you're starting to sort
- 9:39of see the really fast-paced like Mirror's Edge parkour,
- 9:43whereas in this you are playing the protagonist from the first
- 9:45game. So a lot of those things you
- 9:46already know right off the the right out of the gate.
- 9:51So you get that parkour experience and there's no
- 9:54stamina drain on simple parkour moves like climbing, sprinting,
- 9:58you know, things like that. You're there's no stamina drain.
- 10:00The things that you that drain your stamina are hitting things,
- 10:03power attacks, combat some it both specific parkour moves like
- 10:10you know, like a drop kick will use stamina, but or like a
- 10:13charge kick or a regular kick will use stamina.
- 10:15But like, again, those are all combat things.
- 10:18So and then like I said, other parkour moves might, but the way
- 10:22that they sort of tie the story and you getting the like the
- 10:27beast powers is really smart. And all of those fights so far,
- 10:32I've only fought 3. They're called chimeras.
- 10:35That's a lot of fun. Like those boss fights feel very
- 10:37unique. They're very exciting.
- 10:39They all seem to have their own unique like kill animations,
- 10:42like when you kill them at the end, which is really cool.
- 10:44It's also particularly violent and almost feels like you're
- 10:46playing like the Doomslayer, but in like a like a parkour like
- 10:52zombie environment. The thing I do want to play, I
- 10:55would there, I would like to see.
- 10:56I would like. So to just wrap that up, I would
- 10:58give it like as of right now, I'm giving it like an 8 1/2
- 11:01nine, but I've heard it's surprising.
- 11:04Oh, dude, I love these games and this one has been the best out
- 11:07of all of them. Although I will say I'm playing
- 11:08it on just survival, which is like the normal difficulty.
- 11:12It's fucking hard. I get so I get so mad sometimes
- 11:16that I just Alta 4 when I died of something stupid.
- 11:18I'm just like, Nope, no, I'm done for now, like because I'll
- 11:21just I get I just get like now I'm I'm going to be mad if I
- 11:24keep playing. But like what I do want to play
- 11:27or I how I do want to play it is I want to see if I can get it
- 11:29for a couple of the guys that would be interested in it and do
- 11:33some Co-op because I've heard the Co-op is a lot of fun to add
- 11:37in all sorts of things like that.
- 11:39I guess my only gripe with it to wrap that up, like why I'm not
- 11:42giving it a 10 is I hate the durability aspect of those
- 11:47games. I hate having to constantly
- 11:50manage your weapons and repair them.
- 11:51And in this one, I have a particular issue too, because
- 11:56you only have a certain amount of repairs per item and the only
- 12:00way to raise those amount of repairs is to like upgrade the
- 12:03item itself from like a blue to a purple, purple, you know,
- 12:06legendary thing like that. That's kind of annoying.
- 12:10And then there are certain items like I found Kratos's axe from
- 12:15God of War Ragnarok. It doesn't look exactly the
- 12:19same, but it has like the Nordic writing on the side, which I
- 12:21thought was really cool. It's a legendary, but it it, it
- 12:26loses durability and it's irreparable.
- 12:29So you can't even fix it if like when it runs out.
- 12:32So like I'm, I've been using it and I just realized it's got
- 12:35like 60 out of like 150 durability left.
- 12:38That's like what, I can't fix it.
- 12:41So like what happens when I'm done with it?
- 12:43Does it just break? Something like that should be an
- 12:45unbreakable object. So yeah, that's what I'm
- 12:48thinking. So I might just look and see if
- 12:49there's a mod where you can just have like I'm sure there's a way
- 12:52to turn off just like as a cheat code, you know, like no weapon
- 12:56durability loss or something like that.
- 12:58I would honestly play through the game again and just have
- 13:00that just to see how that feels if it feels too overpowered or
- 13:03not, because some of it makes sense.
- 13:05Having a simple hammer would be cool, but like if I get like a
- 13:08legendary sledgehammer or something like that, it's kind
- 13:11of annoying that it breaks after a pretty quick.
- 13:14It's pissed me off Yeah like come on.
- 13:17Like I know the shit can last longer than that.
- 13:18But anyway, it's a great game. I highly recommend it to people
- 13:21who like zombie games, parkour games or a mix of those in any
- 13:26capacity. Also kind of scary, like the
- 13:28night time stuff is really good. I think that they've made that a
- 13:31very dangerous. You're powerful, but you can't
- 13:34kill the things at night still, which is kind of like I told you
- 13:39before, you know that feeling of when you were like a kid and you
- 13:41were playing a game with your friends and like, they would
- 13:43chase you and you had this sort of sense of primal fear?
- 13:46Like that Rush? Yeah.
- 13:47That rush, that's how it feels sometimes when you hear one of
- 13:50the volatile scream behind you and you see Chase started.
- 13:54You're like, I got, I got to run to the nearest safe zone.
- 13:58And those could be there's no fast travel so you have to run
- 14:02everywhere or drive and driving makes noise which attracts them.
- 14:07So when you get a chase on you, it's like you better start
- 14:11running and hope that you can avoid them.
- 14:13So no, it's good. I recommend it.
- 14:16Fuck yeah dude no I'm going to have to try this out.
- 14:18I love the gore physics of this game like all.
- 14:20That. Mechanics I've always, I've
- 14:21always loved that. I find myself hopping in,
- 14:24hopping out of those games unfortunately, and I don't know
- 14:26why, because they're fun. It's just I get they get a bit
- 14:29repetitive for me, but it is where it is.
- 14:33No, that's awesome. No, I can't wait to circle back
- 14:35to this with you and really talk about and dive into this game
- 14:38and how you're feeling towards the end of it.
- 14:42But let's just let's let's hop right into the meat and potatoes
- 14:44of this episode because we got a decent bit of ground to cover.
- 14:49I think a lot of this is going to be yadda, yadda.
- 14:52And also right, so you know, we're we're talking about the
- 14:57PlayStation direct. More importantly, we're going to
- 14:59talk about Wolverine, so let's get through the PlayStation
- 15:01Direct. Yeah, Soros looks cool.
- 15:04I like. Fraternal.
- 15:06I liked. I didn't play it, but I like, I
- 15:08like the way Soros looked made me want to play it it.
- 15:10It it's it Returnal was really fun.
- 15:13If you are able to get it on PCI think you get right on steam.
- 15:16I would get it. It's very fucking fun.
- 15:18It's it's cool. Oh my fucking God, if I can
- 15:23shout you all to that'd be good. Bizarros look great, It looks
- 15:29beautiful. The enemies look sweet, the
- 15:31weapons look cool, the environments look very awesome
- 15:35and just vibrant and bright and dark at the same time.
- 15:38And this game looks fucking sweet, so I look forward to
- 15:43that. The Battlefield 6 campaign
- 15:47trailer was shown. Very pumped for that.
- 15:49Obviously, I mean, we're going to be spending a lot of time in
- 15:52the multiplayer, but. Yeah, it was a big media day for
- 15:55them yesterday. Like just to quickly touch on
- 15:59that, they showed the trailer for the campaign in the State of
- 16:01Play, but they also like the bunch of the Battlefield
- 16:04Youtubers, dropped a bunch more info.
- 16:07We got to see some more. So if you go to some of those
- 16:09Youtubers channels, you'll see some exclusive gameplay of
- 16:12submissions because people got hands on footage of like some of
- 16:16the mission sections. There's nine missions in the
- 16:19campaign. One of them is basically kind of
- 16:22like their take on like a clean house mission from COD.
- 16:27So yeah, that should be pretty exciting.
- 16:28And then we also got to see some Portal gameplay where they
- 16:32showed off 4 in house game modes ranging from like a zombies game
- 16:36mode to jet racing to parkour, like combat.
- 16:41And one thing I thought was really cool is like top of the
- 16:44tower or something like that, where you basically are three
- 16:47teams racing to the top of one control point and a tower and
- 16:51you can shoot at each other up and down like vertically as
- 16:54you're like running up. So yeah, that looks really
- 16:56exciting. But yeah, I'm excited for the
- 16:59campaign. I'm excited for that game in
- 17:00general. I think, I think that they're
- 17:02going to have a pretty sweet launch compared to nearly the
- 17:05past 10 years. Yeah I agree we had Deus Ex
- 17:10remastered. Leave the game alone.
- 17:13Yeah, it didn't look very good. Let it be.
- 17:15It's a legendary game. Let it be.
- 17:18It. Looks uglier than it did.
- 17:21Yeah, Nightdive didn't get to do it so well.
- 17:23That's if it's not nightdive touching it, I don't give a
- 17:27fuck, right? Right.
- 17:29This looks uglier than it did. Yeah, I wasn't really impressed
- 17:32by it. It's just like if yeah,
- 17:35Nightdive is the studio. If you're going to have them do
- 17:37those games, that's who needs to do those games.
- 17:42So that pissed me the fuck off. God of War 20th anniversary
- 17:47controller. I think it's cool it, you know,
- 17:50it's very basic looking. Yeah, it didn't really strike me
- 17:55as anything. You know what, I'll say this.
- 17:57I've had my eye set on getting the limited edition Ghost of
- 18:01Yotek like one of the two either the gold or the black.
- 18:05I'm still kind of debating because they both look really.
- 18:08The gold though is kind of been I like the gold and white look
- 18:11too, like that kind of looks sweet on it so I'm not sure
- 18:15Accents. Off itself and all that.
- 18:17Dude, it looks nice. But this, I mean, like this one
- 18:21it yeah, it was kind of like if I had to choose, it's like I
- 18:24would rather get that for me personally just because, yeah, I
- 18:28felt like it was kind of like that's that's it.
- 18:31There would have been stripe. It would yeah.
- 18:32Like it would have been kind of cool if you kind of had maybe a
- 18:35mix of the Greek and Nordic like symbols there, right.
- 18:40Like you had that, but like you had the red stripe, maybe more
- 18:43reminiscent of the early games, but then you surrounded the rest
- 18:47of the controller with like the Nordic runes on the axe.
- 18:50Put a beard on the bottom of the controller.
- 18:52Yeah, make the the little leather grips like like furry or
- 18:56something. Beard hair.
- 18:57Yeah, beard hair. Yeah, that would be great.
- 18:59I think I'm. Touching my face right now.
- 19:00I feel, I feel gross. That yeah, it's pretty
- 19:02disgusting. I don't know why you said that.
- 19:04I don't. Know I'm fucking because I am
- 19:06who I am. There was an OK controller.
- 19:08I'm not super excited. I mean, I'm sure it's nice for
- 19:10the people who played the originals, but I didn't.
- 19:12I really only played 2018 in Ragnarok so.
- 19:15Yeah, no, I'm, I'm good on that Gran Turismo, right?
- 19:17That was a big. As some as the as the as the
- 19:22racing guy here, I'll just say like I was AI would have hoped
- 19:26for like APC announcement and instead they were just like spec
- 19:30threes coming to GT7. It's like, thanks.
- 19:34Like. Cool, I guess, like the car.
- 19:36The cars look nice. The game itself looks nice, but
- 19:38it's one of those games too where I I think it's probably
- 19:42better with a wheel like in some capacity, because I tried tried
- 19:46playing it with like a controller and even with the
- 19:49adaptive triggers. I felt it feels more heavy than
- 19:54even Forza Motorsport, which I don't think you've played any
- 19:57of, but like Forza Motorsport has a.
- 20:02I like the way the cars feel. They have a nice sense of
- 20:05balance and weight, but like it's also not like something
- 20:08where you can just shit whip a car around a corner that it
- 20:11shouldn't be able to do. So like you have to be mindful
- 20:14and you have to be aware of what you're doing.
- 20:17GT7 had always felt way heavier. The cars always felt like they
- 20:20had almost too much weight or like something like that.
- 20:24So I don't know. It's cool for the people that
- 20:26probably play it a lot, but like that's kind of the market
- 20:28they're catering to. The nice thing, I guess for them
- 20:30is that they've sold over 100 million like units since or as
- 20:34of June of this year, like overall for them.
- 20:38So like, you know, congratulations, that's probably
- 20:40a pretty big milestone. I'm sure, but also I I guess
- 20:43too. I don't know, like I said, I
- 20:46love racing. I I love racing, but it just,
- 20:49yeah, that didn't really get me as much as I thought it would.
- 20:52I would have preferred, like I said, APC announcement with that
- 20:54would be really cool. But yeah.
- 20:57But no, we didn't get. That no, so I don't care.
- 20:59So two more things I'll touch on.
- 21:04One's gonna be from the direct and one will not.
- 21:06The PlayStation speakers I guess.
- 21:12I, I don't know, I think they're cool because I don't have on.
- 21:17Those or. No, let me look.
- 21:19I I don't know, but I think they're cool.
- 21:21But I say that because I don't have any.
- 21:23So like when I have my own place, it'd be nice to have some
- 21:26speakers on my desk and I'd probably get those just because
- 21:28they would my only console would be APS 5.
- 21:32So it it would be a very seamless switch like they said.
- 21:34So that's kind of marketing exactly towards me.
- 21:38I'm waiting for his eyes to just expand here.
- 21:41He sees me squinting right now, trying to figure out that
- 21:44they're called Pulse Elevate. OK.
- 21:46So the Pulse Elevate speakers, there's got to be a price.
- 21:50I'm looking. Come on.
- 21:52Come on, I'm saying 100 and 5200 bucks.
- 21:56No Pulse Elevate Wireless speakers will launch in 2026 and
- 22:00will be available in both midnight black and white.
- 22:05Price. Price let me see.
- 22:09This is from the shortcut we the price is not yet confirmed, but
- 22:16these guys are predicting it'll be between 2:50 and 300 based on
- 22:19the pricing of other Sony audio. Sorry.
- 22:21Like that? Well, Sony.
- 22:24Which I mean, that's what I'm saying though, is like, like
- 22:26it's. Like, you know, they're gonna at
- 22:28least like. Like 250 for two wireless
- 22:34speakers that do like the AI, no?
- 22:37Subwoofer, right? No, it has a built in subwoofer.
- 22:41It has a built in subwoofer. It has like the directional
- 22:43audio, the AI like 3D audio mics and all sort of shit like that.
- 22:47And also it has the wireless, you know, you can just plug it
- 22:51into your PlayStation or into your PC and it works
- 22:53immediately. You don't have to do anything.
- 22:56So like yes, this is something for me.
- 22:59If I had the money, yeah I probably would.
- 23:01Cause it's like now I can just like chill and play game.
- 23:05Like if I'm not in Discord I can just chill and play games
- 23:08without having my headphones on like.
- 23:10I'll I'll consider it. It's.
- 23:12Yeah, now he's he's kind of thinking about it.
- 23:14Shut up you, because you know I have FOMO about not getting new
- 23:16shit. Well, yeah, but I mean, it's all
- 23:19in relation to what you really need, you know, I don't know if
- 23:22you need speakers. You don't really listen to shit
- 23:24without your headphones. I.
- 23:26Have 3. Yeah, man.
- 23:30Please, I'm sorry, OK, the speakers, what else did you want
- 23:33to talk about? This one, this next thing is not
- 23:34from the direct. Quickly touching on the Kojima
- 23:38then. Oh yeah, I thought.
- 23:43Anime. Oh yeah.
- 23:44Go on. Please, please go on.
- 23:45Please go on. Well, I don't have a lot to say
- 23:47'cause I didn't watch the whole thing, but I think a lot of the
- 23:50Death Stranding stuff is kind of cool.
- 23:52I like that the movie will not be covering the events of the
- 23:55games. That is the.
- 23:58I think that's cool. I think for as much guff as
- 24:02Kojima gets, he understands that shit though.
- 24:06He's he's inherently incredibly intelligent.
- 24:08He's just so far up his own ass sometimes.
- 24:11But like he learns from people like Guillermo del Toro, David
- 24:14Lynch, rest in Peace, George Miller.
- 24:19Like this is who's this is who Kojima is costly being like
- 24:24influenced by. So like of course the movie, it
- 24:28might deal with Sam Porter Bridges.
- 24:32You'll see him in the background.
- 24:34You're going to see him go. Hey, over here.
- 24:37That's yeah. But like that excites me to know
- 24:40that what if it was you didn't finish the game?
- 24:452. Yeah.
- 24:47No. Anyways, OK, I think I know what
- 24:52it might be. So I like one, just to briefly
- 25:01touch on it. I'm excited for his next two
- 25:05games, OD looked. Scary.
- 25:09OD looked good and OD was actually kind of cool because
- 25:11that entire shot they used of Hunter Schaefer was that one
- 25:14screen test that he showed a while ago of her like freaking
- 25:18out. So I like that that was sort of
- 25:20a call back to that and also part of the game.
- 25:23It looked incredible, which makes it terrifying.
- 25:26It also sound I saw it on Twitter.
- 25:28It might not be true but that OD is meant to be like the name of
- 25:34the game and then like the second tagline is his story.
- 25:39So like Jordan Peele will have his own like story in OD is what
- 25:45I saw. Like it's like going to be an
- 25:46anthology maybe of like horror done by different people.
- 25:50I can't confirm that. If they didn't say it, then
- 25:52don't believe in. Anything translate into film as
- 25:55well, is it not? I don't know it in the.
- 25:57Project he's doing. What game was it that sci-fi
- 26:01did? Or soup.
- 26:03Fuck. Not quantum break.
- 26:06There was like ATV show and a video game and some of the shit
- 26:09that the players are doing in the game were happening in the
- 26:12show. Fuck.
- 26:14I don't know, but it sounds like Kojima's trying to blur the
- 26:18lines between television, movie and video game, and that is
- 26:24Super. Not with, maybe not with OD, but
- 26:26I thought there was a second a third project that was supposed
- 26:30to be like a mix here. Quantum break is a unique video
- 26:35game that also functions as a live action TV series.
- 26:39Players make choices within the video game that directly
- 26:41influence the story presented in the accompanying TV show
- 26:44segments. The only other game that show.
- 26:46The only other thing that shows up related to what I just looked
- 26:49up is Black Mirror Bandersnatch which is actually off of Netflix
- 26:51now, which is. Odd.
- 26:54It's not odd. It's Netflix, Yeah.
- 26:57I hate Netflix. So what I am Oh no, don't dive
- 27:02deeper into AI mode. Sorry I got I panicked.
- 27:06I don't I don't like using it. I hate.
- 27:08That the entire discord yesterday just so AI bait
- 27:10driven. I don't know man, I got really
- 27:12pissed off because I'm like, you probably just like took the
- 27:14water of like several fish. This.
- 27:16Chad's going. Give me a minute, he goes
- 27:20actually, and I would chat. Him.
- 27:21I was like, come on, man. I was like, stop using this
- 27:24shit. We're going to get in trouble,
- 27:25Patrick. Star is so maddering.
- 27:27Squidward's pissed. Squidward's mad as hell.
- 27:33I thought that that like, if that ends up to be true, really
- 27:36cool. I'm going to play it and
- 27:37hopefully it's something that comes to PC 2 because I'm the
- 27:40type of person that if I'm going to play something truly scary, I
- 27:43stream it and play it with my friends.
- 27:44Xbox Game Pass. So it would be.
- 27:48Xbox Game Studios, yes. Yeah, it would be so it will be
- 27:51on PC, which is very exciting because yeah, I would love to
- 27:55stream it not even not just on Twitch, but like just in Discord
- 27:59as well like the the go on spot. Please.
- 28:02Well, I saw all the detail which I loved, especially like the the
- 28:06worms. Well, the matches the worms,
- 28:09yes, but like the worms, the worms, sorry, the.
- 28:11Worms. When she struck the matchbook,
- 28:15you could see every detail of the strike and then as it ripped
- 28:20up how the wrist, the baby candle.
- 28:25When that started to cry, I went no.
- 28:29Yeah, it's the little things, right?
- 28:30You know, you got to watch it a couple times and catch all those
- 28:32details. But yeah, like, that's a game
- 28:35I'd love to play with friends or like, have friends watch me play
- 28:38because it takes away from the scariest bit.
- 28:40But like, this looks exciting. And then the fizzent game.
- 28:47I want to your theory. Tell them your theory.
- 28:50It's not my theory. It's something that I saw on
- 28:52Twitter and I relayed to Nick. And Nick was like, dude, if
- 28:56that's what it is, then no way. I.
- 28:57Love him so fucking. Much people are speculating that
- 29:02the main character like the cover, 'cause you can't see
- 29:05their face is because they don't want to reveal that it's
- 29:07actually Robert Pattinson, which if it is, here's the thing.
- 29:14I was not a huge Robert Pattinson fan growing up as a
- 29:17kid because he was in Twilight and I fucking hated Twilight.
- 29:21So I did not watch it. And then I saw, I still need to
- 29:25watch. There's a movie that he was in
- 29:27that I I've seen as really good, free something, right?
- 29:31What is it? It's a, or a crazy ride or
- 29:34something like that. I'm, I'm, I'm totally a Robert
- 29:37Pattinson movies. Hold on.
- 29:38Sorry. I'm looking like a fool to the
- 29:40listeners right now, but I can't do this.
- 29:41I Pattinson movies. Robert Pattinson movies.
- 29:44Yeah, it is good time, good time.
- 29:48So like I've heard that is one that really shows his range.
- 29:51High Life was really good. The one with the the the black
- 29:55hole stuff was was awesome. And all the spum.
- 29:59Yes, well, high life is the one where, what's her name, Mia Goth
- 30:02gets like killed by a black hole.
- 30:05Like she gets stretched with the spaghetti vacation.
- 30:08You know what bums me out about her?
- 30:10Isn't she like, not cool? I heard she's a raging mean
- 30:14person. I'm.
- 30:15Sorry. Yeah, you know, I heard she's
- 30:18just a nightmare to deal with. That's what I've heard.
- 30:21So that that sucks if that's true.
- 30:23But the Lighthouse Tenant, The Batman and Mickey 17, I've seen
- 30:30all of those. I have Mickey, and so does
- 30:35Mickey. Mickey was.
- 30:36Yeah. That's where yo.
- 30:38Yo be don't blow the spot. Sorry bro.
- 30:44Yeah, but yeah, bleep that out, I said.
- 30:46Something, he said. The I'll bleep it out.
- 30:48Said the P word. I gotta bleep that too.
- 30:52What fucking who will? I didn't do anything if that's
- 30:59the case. I think that's going to be an
- 31:00incredible partnership. Nobody saw it like people like,
- 31:03I think it's going to be the like certain people saw coming,
- 31:06but like I think the general like.
- 31:07I could see. It coming Robert Pattinson is
- 31:11weird in the way Hideo Kojima is weird.
- 31:14So like, like, I mean, that's. A huge Death Grips fan.
- 31:19Well, I know what I'm saying and I mean that.
- 31:21I'm, I mean it in the nicest way possible, obviously, but like
- 31:25that would be so exciting and it would be so cool to play as him
- 31:28in a video game because it would, it would, it's, it's
- 31:32going to be in essence, I would feel it's going to probably feel
- 31:35the same way as when you got to play as Norman Reedus, where
- 31:38like there's going to be a room where you get to sit down and
- 31:40you get to sit and look at Robert Pattinson do things.
- 31:43And it would be something that he would find so fun to do.
- 31:46I mean, this is like, as far as I understand it, this is a true
- 31:49story. Robert Pattinson's a guy who
- 31:51went out with a stalker and just talked about how awful his life
- 31:54was until she got bored and left.
- 31:56Are you serious? I think that's a true story.
- 32:01I think that's a true story. The funniest thing I've that is
- 32:05I, we, I need to find that the funniest thing I've seen of
- 32:09Robert Pattinson because I, I hated Twilight, but I liked
- 32:12Twilight. I liked him.
- 32:14There's the thing about him. Maybe it's his beautiful eyes.
- 32:16He lied. He literally said that he made
- 32:18that story up to make interviews more interesting for himself.
- 32:23Oh, so he's even way? Cooler so he's even way.
- 32:26Dude, this guy's meta gaming the system.
- 32:28This. Guy is brilliant, so really
- 32:31quick because we have a lot more ground to cover.
- 32:32Sorry, there's a photo of him. Look it up.
- 32:36Look up Robert Pattinson, Death Grips, Beyoncé I.
- 32:40Think I've seen this. You are going to, you are going
- 32:42to freak. You're going to be like, that's
- 32:43not a real, it is a real photo. That's so funny, I'm looking at.
- 32:49Beyoncé with MC Ride and Robert Pattinson.
- 32:54You look in your phone. This is it, right?
- 32:57Let me see. Let me see.
- 32:59Hold up. Sorry, audience.
- 33:02Give me a minute. Did you send it?
- 33:04Discord. No, that what?
- 33:09No, that's not. That's not quite it.
- 33:12I see the real 1 next to it. Yeah, the real one's next to it
- 33:16anyways, you fucking fool. What are you doing if isn't is
- 33:20gonna be sweet if that is the case, I cannot wait to see more
- 33:22of that Yeah, we we also had the Pokémon Go thing, which I the
- 33:28minute I can play that. But here's the thing.
- 33:30I think it's augmented reality and.
- 33:33I'm not gonna. I'm not gonna buy glasses for
- 33:35that. I already tried that.
- 33:37Do you remember when I bought those stupid Amazon glasses?
- 33:40Yeah, yeah, I do remember that those that was a.
- 33:42Big fucking everyone was like those look dumb as fuck my boy.
- 33:46That was and I went. Funny little timeline.
- 33:49That was a year of me wearing those chunky fucking whatever.
- 33:53So that looks interesting. I may get I'm a shell.
- 33:57I don't care. Anyways, there was updates on
- 34:00the movie as you brought up. We have the credit card.
- 34:04I don't know why we have a Kojima credit card, but then we
- 34:08also have the Kojima Sake. Yes, you're going to be getting.
- 34:13That the minute, the minute I'm going to talk to my buddy
- 34:17Edmund. Edmund Freeland Market dogs hook
- 34:22it up, get the get these bottles, please.
- 34:25I know you listen, Edmund, that's my boy right there.
- 34:28Freeland Market, Woodhaven, MI Go check them out.
- 34:32Check them out on Instagram. Freeland Market.
- 34:34You're mad at me for giving up the spot and here you are.
- 34:36That's the liquor source plug I'm plugging my store.
- 34:39Bro, that's fair, that's fair. Can't argue.
- 34:41Dude, what do you think? I got this awesome bottle Liquid
- 34:44Death whistle pig, right? He's not even paid by them, by
- 34:49the way. He's just a different.
- 34:50Fruit I I just love that store and I get great Italian sticks
- 34:53from that store. Very tasty sticks, not Dicks.
- 34:59But yeah, that was a Kojima event.
- 35:01I I'm a bit, I'm a bit bummed that we didn't maybe see any
- 35:04more about Death Stranding too, because the game has been out
- 35:07for not too long. But there's, there's just so
- 35:10much more I want to play with that game and I'm finished with
- 35:12it. And I Death Stranding is not a
- 35:13game. I'm not going to go back and
- 35:15build the roads for people. I built my roads.
- 35:19Right. No, that's fair.
- 35:20I didn't do the same. I didn't do that either.
- 35:21Yeah, I didn't go back and rebuild or like go back and.
- 35:23Finish the game. I need to finish the other.
- 35:25I need. Yeah, I know I need to finish
- 35:26the game, but like I never went through and did.
- 35:28That myself is going to tear you to.
- 35:30Shreds. We'll see.
- 35:32You say that about a lot of games that I play, No.
- 35:34And then I. I'm.
- 35:35Telling you, you cry. You say that about a lot of
- 35:37games that I play though, and then I approach it with a sort
- 35:40of like Kendall Roy dead eyed stare.
- 35:43I feel like you do it on purpose in front of me.
- 35:46No, I. Walk off, you go up to your room
- 35:48and you can do this one of these things.
- 35:51No, I mean, I genuinely, I can't.
- 35:54I can't think of a game that well.
- 35:57I'm trying to think of a game that made me like feel a type of
- 36:01way. I got to say honestly, what?
- 36:03It's 2025 probably. God of War Ragnarok was like the
- 36:08last game that really made me. Don't make me do this as a
- 36:11father, yeah. Like I'm not going to dive back
- 36:13into it, but yeah, like that's probably the last time I felt
- 36:15like I love Spider Man 2 and I only just played that recently
- 36:18because it just came to PC, but like, that's kind of more of a
- 36:21triumphant story overall. We both have PS fives and they
- 36:25are glorified Netflix boxes. I love that.
- 36:29I love, I love that that game has been out for like 2 years
- 36:33and John badgered me about it for years to play it because I
- 36:35had APS 5 just in the background of my camera at all times.
- 36:39And he's like, when are you going to play it?
- 36:40When are you going to play it? When are you going to play it?
- 36:42I'm like probably fucking until it comes to PC.
- 36:44Came to PC, played it the day it came out.
- 36:47So I beat it within two weeks. And he was like, oh, so you
- 36:50liked it, Hon? I was like, yeah.
- 36:52He's like, why didn't you play it on the PlayStation?
- 36:53Like wanted to play it on the PC.
- 36:56Yeah, Spider Man stay spoiler free speaking.
- 37:01Yeah, good segue here. Insomniac's next game.
- 37:06Shout out Mark, by the way, on Instagram who is the lead gaming
- 37:12programmer for Insomniac. Shout out you.
- 37:16Thanks for following us. Shout out Mark.
- 37:19Hope you listen. Wolverine was shown off and this
- 37:24was something we all discussed. Me, Brody and Evan in fact
- 37:27discuss this prior to the prior to the the direct.
- 37:31Yeah, Priority, yes. We weren't sure if it was going
- 37:33to happen at the Direct. We knew there was a Wolverine
- 37:37announcement coming. We all, us three, had talked
- 37:39about it. It's common.
- 37:41We've known. We've known about it because
- 37:42they yeah. When did they show it off?
- 37:432 years ago? I think 2023, like Game Awards
- 37:462023. That sounds about right.
- 37:48It's. I think it's longer.
- 37:51Really. I'll have to find out.
- 37:54Let me look real quick so. We had been talking about this
- 37:57and we we speculated either the Direct or Game Awards.
- 38:02Yeah, luckily it was the direct. I think the direct was perfect
- 38:05for this. Wow, how?
- 38:08Five years. September 2021.
- 38:12Four years, yeah, because I remember it was still COVID.
- 38:17That's probably what, yeah, thinking about it, that's
- 38:19probably what screwed it up a lot.
- 38:20Do you think there's like a before COVID?
- 38:21Like before crisis? Not before COVID.
- 38:25I mean, it's been nailed to that board a long time ago.
- 38:28Now we got Covad. Not to go back into that.
- 38:33So in The Wolverine. I.
- 38:36Don't even know how to go into this now.
- 38:41Here's my. Auntie tattooed guy, I said it
- 38:44What you want us? Here's my, here's my thing.
- 38:46I don't mean this and then I, I mean this in like the the most
- 38:49beautiful way I can imagine 'cause it's a game I love from
- 38:52my childhood. If this game is, is like I'm
- 38:55expecting, I'm sure it's going to be more than this because
- 38:58it's Insomniac and I know how they are.
- 39:00I know how much detail and love they put into especially these
- 39:03Marvel games. I don't know if I've ever played
- 39:04an Insomniac game. Wait, they what did Insomniac do
- 39:07before Marvel Spider man? Don't put me in a box like that.
- 39:12Sorry, then never mind, we're not going.
- 39:13To go infamous, infamous. Infamous.
- 39:17Yeah, I loved Infamous. I played one in two.
- 39:21Oh wait, time out. No.
- 39:22Isn't that sucker? Punch Am I an asshole?
- 39:24You. You might be.
- 39:25I think that's sucker. Punch Sucker punch is infamous.
- 39:28Is infamous. Russian clank, Yeah.
- 39:30No, I played that, yeah. Dude, resistance.
- 39:33Oh my God. Resistance.
- 39:36Oh my God. So, yeah, like looking at all
- 39:39these now, I understand I've played through.
- 39:41Yeah, yeah, no. So I've played a lot of these
- 39:43games. I especially so.
- 39:44So yeah, I guess I was, I was an original player of Insomniac
- 39:48Games because as a kid, I mean, I was born in 2000, I was
- 39:51probably playing games by the time I was like 2 years old.
- 39:53So I definitely played Spyro. I played Ratchet and Clank.
- 39:58Ratchet and Clank was probably the Ratchet and Clank is the
- 40:01game I have a first memory of playing.
- 40:04Like that is the first game. Like if I go back through every
- 40:07game I ever played, Ratchet and Clank's probably the first one I
- 40:09ever like picked up for. Control from from Insomniac.
- 40:13It was Spyro for me, but I was also, that was when I was a kid,
- 40:17right? So like it would have been
- 40:18Spyro, like it weren't for me, like Naughty Dog.
- 40:20The minute I see the Naughty Dog symbol I think crash.
- 40:24Right, right. I don't even.
- 40:26Think of Last of Us. I think Crash Band.
- 40:29When I think of Naughty Dog, I think of Uncharted first,
- 40:31usually. That's usually what comes.
- 40:34Like Uncharted is what I played first from them because I played
- 40:37two and then I went back and played one, and then I played
- 40:40three and then Last of Us and then four, and then they had
- 40:44two. So yeah, I think of Uncharted
- 40:48usually for them. But anyway, back to Wolverine,
- 40:51like I loved X-Men Origins Wolverine, the the old Xbox 360
- 40:58game. I think it was on PS3 two, I
- 40:59don't remember I played it on Xbox 360, but I I or PS2, I
- 41:04don't remember which one. But like I, I, I, I loved that
- 41:07game. I loved it so much.
- 41:09I loved the animations. I loved the, the executions.
- 41:12I loved the the violence, the healing anime, like the healing
- 41:15factor, like it like knowing how hurt you were based on how
- 41:18damaged Logan's body was. And that's kind of the vibe I
- 41:23got from this where it's like it's it's going to be bloody,
- 41:25it's going to be violent, it's going to be rough around the
- 41:28edges. I loved how that I think those
- 41:31are things that don't really matter to a lot of people, but I
- 41:34like them and I like that they are not afraid to mention them
- 41:37where they're like, if you notice, like they're talking
- 41:39about even the cover art, the box art, the the title, the logo
- 41:43is more rough around the edges. Whereas like Spider Man is clean
- 41:46and pristine and sort of like proud.
- 41:49This is almost like it's unsure of itself.
- 41:52And I was like, dude, like they get it.
- 41:53They understand what makes these characters tick and that's what
- 41:57makes these games so good. Although I did see something
- 42:01really funny where there's they show that one like hallway scene
- 42:04where Logan just beats the shit out of that one guy.
- 42:07And some of us like, if you're wondering what the combo to do
- 42:10this is, it's XXXXXX. It's just acts like 15 times.
- 42:16So like, I hope they find a way to make it a bit interesting
- 42:19because I, I think it could, I don't think it could become
- 42:23repetitive because I don't think that that's what they would ever
- 42:26allow to feel. No, not with this.
- 42:28Character No, no. And I but, and I also am at the
- 42:31same point going like I'm going to love it because it's it's
- 42:36almost like seeing an insomniac side in the Marvel Universe that
- 42:39is going to be rough and bloody and violent and things like
- 42:45that. What are you doing scratching
- 42:47your muscle? Well, whatever the my dirt
- 42:50stash. Yeah, Wolverine is a character
- 42:55that is mature. This is not for children.
- 42:59He is not. He's a cigar smoking, whiskey
- 43:02drinking, alcoholic, very angry person.
- 43:07This is the. Darkest.
- 43:08This is the darkest side of our psyches that is trying to behave
- 43:13and trying to be the better person, but ultimately doesn't
- 43:17always get there. Logan's story is flawed.
- 43:21Logan is not a perfect person. He's not a perfect hero, but he
- 43:24tries. He is that part of us that wants
- 43:28to do better but can't always do that because he resorts to old
- 43:32ways and sometimes those old ways work.
- 43:36This is that and I love that. Like, I mean, the first show
- 43:41that we saw was Logan in a bar. Yeah.
- 43:43What better way to show what you're getting into than that?
- 43:48It. This is great.
- 43:49This looked. And as a comic lover, Omega Red,
- 43:57are you out of your fucking mind?
- 43:59That's what I heard. A lot of comic people or comic
- 44:01people were very excited about that.
- 44:03And like there's also a lot of other characters that they're
- 44:05going to like that they. Yeah, Mystique, she was.
- 44:08Disguised as Bastion. Yeah.
- 44:11Like I saw Bash and I was like, OK, cool.
- 44:13And then there was a Prime Sentinel, and then you had the
- 44:16Sentinel. Like the only thing missing here
- 44:18that I think they're not going to show.
- 44:20Really. Right.
- 44:21Omega Red is cool, but he's not Sabretooth cool.
- 44:25He's not Silver Samurai cool. Oh boy.
- 44:27Or Lady Deathstrike. Cool.
- 44:28Oh wow. Oh, sorry, I'm reading the
- 44:32development of the game on Wikipedia while you're talking.
- 44:35I'm listening to you. Yeah.
- 44:36Yeah, I saw. I read a sentence here that made
- 44:39my eyes perk up. Have you ever played Spec OPS
- 44:41the Line? The writer for that game, Walt
- 44:49Williams, is part of this. That game was incredibly dark.
- 44:54Mary Kenny served as the game's writer with Spec OPS the Line
- 44:58writer Walt Williams. So the we are in for a very in
- 45:03your head game. This is a mental illness getting
- 45:08like whoa. Let's the game's creative and
- 45:12game directors are Brian Horton and Cameron Christian
- 45:15respectively reprising their roles from Marvel Spider Man
- 45:17Miles Morales, with Horton describing the game as full size
- 45:20mature tone in contrast to Miles Morales as well.
- 45:26They are also everything's in the same Earth as well.
- 45:29They're all in Earth. 10:48 so this is shared with Spider Man.
- 45:32This could OK. And that's what drew them
- 45:36originally to this, by the way, that's what drew them to the the
- 45:39story and wanting to adapt Wolverine was that Wolverine and
- 45:44Spider Man share the they said that notably the fact that both
- 45:49heroes felt or feel deeply compelled to defend people who
- 45:53are less able to do so. So Insomniac eventually elected
- 45:57to pitch this idea to Marvel and Sony as their next licensed
- 45:59property following their successful collaboration with
- 46:01the two parties on making Marvel Spider Man.
- 46:04And of course, they obviously agreed.
- 46:07I think that's going to, I think that's going to be really cool.
- 46:11I love that. I don't know.
- 46:14I just, I, I have wanted to play Wolverine in a game like that is
- 46:22made for him since X-Men Origins, and I haven't had one.
- 46:27And so this is one of those games where it's like.
- 46:30As an adult now too. I don't.
- 46:32I don't like, and that's The thing is that you guys like, you
- 46:34and Brody are probably the other people that come to mind when I
- 46:37think about Wolverine because you guys love him in such a way.
- 46:40But you guys know him from the comics and you know him from
- 46:42like the TV shows, the animated TV shows.
- 46:45I basically know him and I'm doing myself a disservice with
- 46:49saying this. So please don't beat me up.
- 46:51Brody. I I really only know him from
- 46:54Wolverine tattoo. I know.
- 46:56Yeah, really. I'm really I'm playing with fire
- 46:58here. I really know Wolverine from the
- 47:05some of the some of the X-Men movies, particularly Logan,
- 47:10which Logan for me had a bless you profoundly deep impact.
- 47:18I don't know, you sneezed or coughed.
- 47:21Well, whatever. I don't know.
- 47:21I didn't know if you muted or not though.
- 47:23Now I look stupid. OK, thank you.
- 47:27Crazy. There it goes again.
- 47:29Shut up. Like Logan for me was a very
- 47:33impactful movie. So like I loved, but I got it in
- 47:38that sense of like right there with that heroes feel deeply
- 47:42compelled to defend people who are not able to to do that for
- 47:45themselves, right. Logan is kind of that almost
- 47:48that in essence, like bottled into two hours of like he is
- 47:54physically unable to fight on, but he keeps doing it because he
- 47:57knows other people cannot do what he can do.
- 47:59And like, he contends with, he has to, and he contends with his
- 48:03violence and his choices and like, I felt it to be a very,
- 48:07very deeply moving movie and, and.
- 48:11Seeing Xavier. Xavier is in that film.
- 48:15Is yeah, it's very, very sad. Fucking Xavier.
- 48:19It's very sad. Man who literally who would
- 48:23always did some cool things with.
- 48:26My alien, it also shows to like, I like that and that you don't
- 48:30really know what's happened in this future Earth so much.
- 48:33You kind of you're just giving. Yeah.
- 48:35You just are giving glimpses of it.
- 48:36And you understand that, like, the mutants have basically been
- 48:39all wiped out and they're like some of the last remaining and
- 48:43like that just had a very big impact on me.
- 48:45So like to see that Walt Williams from Spec OPS the Line
- 48:50is writing this or helping write it makes me feel very interested
- 48:55because it's like I think that game should learn more into
- 48:58that. Like I love I have a love hate
- 49:03relationship with the lassos too.
- 49:04This is cool. The The Boss and Beyond podcast
- 49:07is like a living archive of my slow love and hatred of this
- 49:11fucking game. But like like it gives me that
- 49:16game was very hated at the time for how it was not afraid to
- 49:20just piss you off as being the player.
- 49:23And I think that there's a way games can do that without
- 49:25necessarily being as rough around the edges as I think the
- 49:29Last of Us 2 did it where I felt like sometimes it just did it to
- 49:31piss you off and maybe felt like it had more of a self-righteous
- 49:36point than it was maybe worth it for.
- 49:38No, you're fine. I would like to see insomniacs
- 49:41take on something like that where like you have to play
- 49:44Wolverine and do something just pretty fucked up and and like.
- 49:47Have to do that. Like, like you have to, you have
- 49:51to make the player feel awful in a way that like, and I, I say
- 49:56that, you know, instead of just, I don't think that's necessarily
- 49:59the best terminology, but like you have to put them in the same
- 50:01mindset that Logan might be in at that moment.
- 50:07While playing this game, you need to make tough decisions
- 50:11that you know Logan doesn't want to make, but he makes them
- 50:14because he thinks those are the best decisions to make at that
- 50:18point in time. At that moment and.
- 50:21I cannot get this catch out of my throat.
- 50:24You're good anyways. But that is important to Logan's
- 50:28character. It is.
- 50:30I'll do the things that. Other people won't.
- 50:32Scott won't do right. Scott Summers will not do this.
- 50:36I will do it. Right, I will.
- 50:38Be the bad guy, because I have to be the bad guy to be the good
- 50:42guy. In the end, that's fucking fine.
- 50:44That's a very interesting idea that I hope they play with too.
- 50:47And that how does how does this, this particular Wolverine feel
- 50:52about that right? Does he does he is he more of a
- 50:55brooding Wolverine, or is he more of someone who like kind of
- 50:58accepts his fate as someone who will have to do violent things
- 51:00to achieve good ends? Or is he someone who will be
- 51:03more conflicted? And I think he'll be more
- 51:07conflicted. I think he'll be more
- 51:09conflicted. And I mean, the trailer kind of
- 51:11showed that too. Like, it showed a lot of great
- 51:13combat and a lot of blood and violence.
- 51:15And I thought that was a really great, like, I, I'm sure that's,
- 51:20to add to this is probably from a build that's very recent and
- 51:23it's coming out in a year from now.
- 51:24So I'm sure that by the time it comes out, it will be even more
- 51:27smooth. It'll be even more bloody, more
- 51:30violent. Talked about the blood.
- 51:31They had to get the blood just right.
- 51:33Well they even there was a someone who said too that the I
- 51:36don't know if it was during the state of play or if it was
- 51:38during something after that where I think they had mentioned
- 51:41how they almost felt that the the claws through the face was
- 51:45too much. After the state of it.
- 51:48Was after the. It was during, Yeah, it was
- 51:50after the trailer, yeah. And they were talking more about
- 51:52it. And yeah, I remember that that
- 51:53person had said yeah, like basically I think that that
- 51:56could have been too much. But then I saw it and I was
- 51:59like, it's gotta be. It's Wolverine.
- 52:02It has to be, well, it's also, it's also a pretty iconic move.
- 52:06I mean, that was a very big thing that he did X Logan a lot.
- 52:09In X-Men 2 during the mansion raid scene there is a scene
- 52:14because that was APG 13 movie. This is like what, 2002?
- 52:19Oh man, I was I I saw it with pops.
- 52:22I mean I was 2 if that's when it came out.
- 52:25It was me, Ed, Sandy and Pops. It was.
- 52:28It was called X2, right? X2 X-Men 2 So there's a scene
- 52:33when they striker and like government.
- 52:35Basically I. Was I was three years old
- 52:39they're. Rating the they're rating the
- 52:41school for the Gifted and Wolverine just drops out.
- 52:47A soldier turns around, boom, uppercut blades right through
- 52:50that, through the bottom jaw. They show.
- 52:53I went that's Wolverine. Like, this is who this character
- 52:58is. Yeah, once you, once you it's
- 53:01poking the bear. He's a nice guy.
- 53:04Yeah, yeah, poking the bear once.
- 53:05That poke, that, that that initial poke, go.
- 53:09All right, all right, bub, here we go.
- 53:12And like, yeah. No, never mind.
- 53:14Finish your thought and then I I want to ask you a question
- 53:16before we. I just I'd I think from the
- 53:20trailer alone Insomniac has shown me that Wolverine is in
- 53:25such good. Yay, I already finished is in
- 53:29such good hands. Well, I haven't done that yet.
- 53:32It's not the end of the night, so you know.
- 53:38You think that? You think that Wolverine's in
- 53:39good hands? Anyways.
- 53:43OK, great. YouTube check us out Spawn camp
- 53:46Co Wolverine is in great hands yeah, because they're they're
- 53:51really diving deep into the psyche of the you can see it
- 53:54there and people are like oh from a trailer yes yes.
- 53:58Well, everything after the the the fact that they've taken the
- 54:02time to make the cover art be rough, that they've chosen to,
- 54:08you know, go with they they've chosen to go with Liam McIntyre
- 54:13for the voice and, and Liam getting a chance to.
- 54:16Yeah, well, and well, and I didn't think it was going to be
- 54:19Troy anyway, because like, yes, I know he's in everything.
- 54:21But Troy I think does not, is not capable of doing a Wolverine
- 54:24voice. Like, I think he's capable, he's
- 54:26capable of doing a lot of things, including apparently a
- 54:28very good Harrison Ford impression.
- 54:31But like, he's he's really good at that.
- 54:34He's like incredibly good. I was just playing Indiana Jones
- 54:37the other day and I was like, oh, my God, I keep forgetting
- 54:39that it's not Harrison Ford. Like, so I didn't think it was
- 54:45going to be him anyway, but I didn't know who it would be.
- 54:47So and I I had seen his name before, but I didn't remember
- 54:50who he was. But like the fact that they like
- 54:54again, that the fact that the 10 minutes or so, the last 10
- 54:58minutes of the state of play was dedicated to not just the
- 55:00trailer, but also giving Insomniac the room to go.
- 55:03Here's our actors, here's our designers, here's our marketing
- 55:07people, here's everybody that's worked on this game for however
- 55:10many year, for essentially probably six years, 5 or 6
- 55:14years. And what they've wanted to show
- 55:18with this game for so long. And also it's coming to you in a
- 55:20year from now. And everything reflects Logan's
- 55:26personality. You know, the cover art reflects
- 55:30his, his roughness, his he's incomplete.
- 55:34He's not a finished canvas, so to speak.
- 55:38I, I hope that the game doesn't necessarily finish his story.
- 55:45I hope that it does leave room. I think that they will make a
- 55:47Wolverine too. So I'll just say that now
- 55:50they're going to, they're going to, I'll be 30 by the time it
- 55:52comes out. So that's wild to even think
- 55:53about. But that doesn't matter.
- 55:57To add to this to, to say my question or to ask my question
- 56:02to you, is there any specific, like if you had to name a
- 56:08couple, however many you want, Like what gameplay elements do
- 56:13you want to see in this that maybe we haven't seen from
- 56:17Insomniac or we have the play from Spider Man that you just
- 56:19want to see added into this? Like obviously I don't, I don't
- 56:22think this is going to be an open world game.
- 56:25I think this is going to be. Linear.
- 56:27I think it's going to be a linear narrative, but I don't
- 56:29think it's going to be short. I don't think it's going to be
- 56:30like 10 missions. I think it's going to be like
- 56:3220. Like I think this.
- 56:33Is going to be at least a 30-40 hour game.
- 56:36Right. I think it's going to have a lot
- 56:37of very. Long story with a lot of shit to
- 56:39do. I would like to see a mix
- 56:43between God of War, Spider Man with like hinges of Assassin's
- 56:50Creed. And what I mean by that is the
- 56:52movement at times the obstacle movement, right?
- 56:57So you see a wall in Assassin's Creed, you see a wall.
- 57:01You're able to fucking really just like parkour essentially.
- 57:05Mirror's Edge is a great example I suppose.
- 57:08Parkour and grab that wall and treat it.
- 57:11Dying like the beast. Dying like the beast is great.
- 57:13No that is dying light is great for this.
- 57:16Those are elements I want to see combat wise.
- 57:18I really want them to grow into their own ear, but like to take
- 57:21elements of God of War here. There are great elements in the
- 57:24new God of War games that are not just QTE.
- 57:28And what I mean by that is the combat and God of War feels
- 57:32fleshed out. It feels very visceral.
- 57:35Wolverine needs to go above and beyond that.
- 57:37When those adamantium claws strike, I need to feel as if
- 57:41those just tore flute through flesh.
- 57:45I need to feel weight. I need to adhere weight to those
- 57:48hits and tear and bone crush like.
- 57:54So to answer your question, I really want to see some mix
- 57:56between God of War and like Dying Light Assassin's Creed.
- 58:01Like there's a lot here, but I also want them to grow into
- 58:04their own thing here. Spider Man's a great example
- 58:06too. Spider Man.
- 58:08Yeah, like there's things you could look at Spider Man and go
- 58:10well, the Tucker on this and that.
- 58:11But like when you play Spider Man and I know the joke is you
- 58:15feel like, but you do feel like Spider Man.
- 58:18Oh, you're right. Well, like, people can make that
- 58:20joke all they want, but like, yeah, that's entirely the point
- 58:23of it. That's how you're supposed to
- 58:24feel. I mean, it would be pretty
- 58:25stupid if you played Spider Man and you felt like, you know,
- 58:27Nick or Evan. You shouldn't feel that way.
- 58:30Yeah, Yeah, I would be pretty mad if I played a Spider Man
- 58:32game and felt like me. Conflicted.
- 58:33When I play this game, I want the questions to be posed to me
- 58:38and what is what I'm doing right?
- 58:42I agree with all those points to to give my share of that
- 58:49question of like gameplay elements that I want to see.
- 58:52I'm going to get a bit more granular here.
- 58:57I don't want there to be a traditional health bar.
- 58:59I want it to be me getting damaged and the adamantium
- 59:04slowly showing the rest of his frame until it eventually is too
- 59:07much and he just dies. That'd be.
- 59:11Sick. Because that is how X-Men
- 59:13Origins did it and I'm sorry if a game from 2013 can do it.
- 59:16I don't understand why a game from 2025 can't.
- 59:18I'd be pretty annoyed if I kept watching Logan get shot with a
- 59:21billion rounds and I just see a bar go away and then I'm dead.
- 59:25I'd. Rather, I'd rather the skin just
- 59:26start. Going right exactly.
- 59:29Yeah. And well, and that would again
- 59:30be really cool to see because again, in 2013 or whenever, when
- 59:36when Origins came out, that was very cool because, yeah, he
- 59:40would get shot in the face and half of his face would get blown
- 59:43off. And you would watch it get
- 59:44rebuilt in real time as you were playing.
- 59:47And that's how you knew that you were at full health again.
- 59:50To add to that, again, more things from X-Men Origins.
- 59:54I would love to see environmental executions.
- 59:57So almost sort of like how in Doom Eternal or Doom 2016 where
- 1:00:02you would hit a demon a certain amount of times and they would
- 1:00:05flash a certain color and then then you got close, you'd be
- 1:00:08able to get the button prompt to do it.
- 1:00:09I think that that should be a thing in this as well as I'm
- 1:00:15sorry bro if you're next to a power box or an electrical box.
- 1:00:19Yeah, Wolverine should be able to stab you into it, shock you,
- 1:00:23and then, honestly, to add insult to injury, grab.
- 1:00:26His other arm and shock. I was gonna say give his claws
- 1:00:30like electrical powers for like 1015 seconds and now all of a
- 1:00:33sudden he's applying electrical damage to everybody.
- 1:00:36That would be more God of War like if anything.
- 1:00:39But I think that that's a really cool idea to mess around with
- 1:00:42because that gives you a lot of different, you know, it only
- 1:00:44works for probably certain elements, right, Where we
- 1:00:47probably wouldn't work for fire very much.
- 1:00:48He'd probably get pretty pissed off if he was on fire.
- 1:00:52But like that's also something I think that might be cool.
- 1:00:54I'm sure that there will be some sort of ability like in God of
- 1:00:57War Ragnarok where you can sort of have a special ability with
- 1:01:00might be Logan's rage and you can sort of come by.
- 1:01:03I'm sure that they'll probably do that where you have.
- 1:01:05I mean, God of War Ragnarok is a very kind of a pioneer in that
- 1:01:09in terms of a single player RPG and air quotes kind of like
- 1:01:13experience where you can that that left trigger or like the
- 1:01:18left stick or right stick, but you know, the combinations you
- 1:01:22can choose if that gives you more damage or just outright
- 1:01:25heals you or whatever. And I think that Wolverine
- 1:01:28should come with that level of customizability where I can
- 1:01:31choose if I want my my Wolverine to be more of like he heals
- 1:01:35instantly if I use that ability or he just is filled with rage
- 1:01:39and suddenly can attack even like the strongest of enemies
- 1:01:43with like basic attacks and deal some.
- 1:01:45Damage. Right.
- 1:01:46Yeah, exactly. Like that would be really cool
- 1:01:49to to see because. And I think that's kind of a
- 1:01:52hidden gem of that whole thing yesterday is that they showed
- 1:01:56not that much like they showed the trailer.
- 1:01:59They showed some combat and then yeah, well, they hit a lot in
- 1:02:02plain sight. But they also like, we didn't
- 1:02:04see the how the health system works.
- 1:02:07We didn't see if like your special abilities, if you have
- 1:02:10any. We didn't see how.
- 1:02:11About how he tracks things. Well, that too, yeah, we did see
- 1:02:14that. Like that was cool.
- 1:02:15No, we didn't. We didn't see how he tracks.
- 1:02:17Oh, we didn't see. Oh, no, we didn't.
- 1:02:19Yeah, you're right. Sorry.
- 1:02:20My bad. Because.
- 1:02:20He's got a super sniffer on him. Yeah, Yeah.
- 1:02:23No, you're right. So like that's going to well,
- 1:02:25that would also be really cool as like a couple of missions too
- 1:02:27where you're more, you know. Detective.
- 1:02:30Yeah, tracking something down. Well, I mean, that's kind of, I
- 1:02:32mean, that would be kind of pretty sick because like, I
- 1:02:37mean, that was the hidden gem for me and some of the Batman
- 1:02:40Arkham games was that you would have certain sections where it's
- 1:02:43like you're not beating the shit out of just some goons or
- 1:02:46whatever you are doing an investigation on like this
- 1:02:50murder that happened because, you know, Joker did it and, you
- 1:02:53know, you're like looking out, here's the bullet casing, here's
- 1:02:56where the trajectory of the bullet was, you know, and that's
- 1:02:58obviously Batman related. But it.
- 1:03:01Yeah, that would be cool too, where maybe, you know, Logan is
- 1:03:04hunting down Mystique and he's tracking her scent through the
- 1:03:07woods to maybe that bar in the trailer, you know, and he knows
- 1:03:11that she's in there somewhere. He can't tell, you know, and
- 1:03:14that's just. Think she's Jean Grey?
- 1:03:16Let's see that. I I think that they need, I
- 1:03:19think that would be so cool if they lean into a wider universe
- 1:03:22of mutants that are just on the same earth as Spider Man and
- 1:03:25just, it's like kind of this thing where they're just laying
- 1:03:28low. Like, I think they'd be really
- 1:03:30cool. Suit him wearing that suit and
- 1:03:32some cuts. Where are the civilian clothes
- 1:03:36that would? Imply to me that he took a trip
- 1:03:38back to the mansion. Yeah, it would imply that they
- 1:03:41clearly are some sort of team or he knows, he knows other mutants
- 1:03:44and they are, they've clearly been, yeah, at the mansion in in
- 1:03:48the group that was. Like Scott Summers, like popping
- 1:03:53in talking shit to you from the X Wing.
- 1:03:55And shit, didn't they have Galactus in that trailer
- 1:03:58yesterday too? I didn't see Galactus.
- 1:04:00No, that was so that was a. Sent.
- 1:04:01Who was that Sentinel? My bad, not Galactus.
- 1:04:03So that's that's a Sentinel that's in the larger X-Men
- 1:04:06universe here. Yeah, I hit my mic.
- 1:04:09Very good, Nick, very good professional.
- 1:04:13So what we do see is Omega Red. Yeah, we see Mystique.
- 1:04:18Yep. And we see her disguised as
- 1:04:21Bastion. Yep.
- 1:04:23We see a prime Sentinel, which is like, probably tougher
- 1:04:26enemies. Yeah, we see, We see a Sentinel
- 1:04:31at the end. But I'm curious to see if
- 1:04:33there's going to be an internal struggle with Charles Xavier,
- 1:04:36with the mansion, with Cyclops. I mean, dude, like, why could
- 1:04:41you not throw Wade Wilson in here?
- 1:04:44They hate each other. That's The thing is is.
- 1:04:49You may not cause the comedic effect.
- 1:04:51Yeah. But Deadpool is also, at times,
- 1:04:55a very serious character. It would, it would almost, it
- 1:05:01would almost take it out of me to be in that game and see Logan
- 1:05:04going through a near death experience for real one time.
- 1:05:06And then he sees Wade fucking Wilson show up and be like, hey,
- 1:05:10dummy, you're going to be all right.
- 1:05:13That's a Dick. Why would that not happen?
- 1:05:15It's not that, it's not that it wouldn't happen or it's like not
- 1:05:19that it shouldn't. It's just I think this is going
- 1:05:23to be more. Serious in tone.
- 1:05:24I think it's going to be more serious in tone, so they
- 1:05:26wouldn't allow for it. But I also am curious as to
- 1:05:28what. But I'm curious because at the
- 1:05:30end of the day, we're fans of all of these characters and we
- 1:05:34want to see them. But they're obviously there's a
- 1:05:36contract written somewhere where they're like, you will not bring
- 1:05:39up this this, this character, this character, this character,
- 1:05:42this character, this character. And that's what bums me out
- 1:05:44because it's like, oh. Magneto dude.
- 1:05:47Because there's a scene where Magnet in the comics where
- 1:05:50Magneto goes and rips out his adamantium spine or his
- 1:05:54adamantium, you know, frame the bones.
- 1:05:57Right. Well, I, I want like in a
- 1:06:00general sense, I think it's very, I think it would be very
- 1:06:03interesting if you gave a company like Insomniac, like if
- 1:06:07Marvel and Sony came to Insomniac and went, we're going
- 1:06:10to give you free rein for 10 years to make whatever kind of
- 1:06:13game you want with our characters.
- 1:06:16And like, it can include Wolverine in this instance and
- 1:06:19go, hey, this is what you're going, you know, we're going to
- 1:06:22give you use any mutants that you want, use any storyline that
- 1:06:26you want, use any comic references.
- 1:06:28You do whatever the fuck you want.
- 1:06:30We don't care. But like, you know, that when
- 1:06:33they go into these deals, they're given the option of
- 1:06:35like, well, you know, here's our original pitch.
- 1:06:38And then Sony and Marvel get together or they talk separately
- 1:06:40and then they get together and talk.
- 1:06:42And then they go, OK, well, whittle this down.
- 1:06:44We'll take this out. We'll take this out.
- 1:06:45We'll say they can't do this. And then they give it back to
- 1:06:48Insomniac. And that's me speculating.
- 1:06:50But I just assume that that is how some of these, you know,
- 1:06:54agreements might go down because they.
- 1:06:56Brought up the Sentinels though, which you have.
- 1:06:58To no, yeah, and you have to. But like I'm saying, in terms of
- 1:07:01like the Wade Wilson stuff or even just other characters, like
- 1:07:05maybe. Scott Summers Jubilee would be.
- 1:07:07Cool. Well, it all depends, but like,
- 1:07:09you know, a. Whole rogue.
- 1:07:11There could be, you know, certain things where like it's
- 1:07:13even just elements of the story where they say, hey, maybe we
- 1:07:16don't want our character to be associated with this right now
- 1:07:17because a movie is going to be, you know, because at the end of
- 1:07:20the day, you know that Marvel's going to be introducing the
- 1:07:22mutants at some point in the MCU.
- 1:07:24So like, they obviously want whatever happens in these games.
- 1:07:27And at the end of the day, it's kind of where I'm at the point
- 1:07:29of like, who gives a shit? Just make, you know, these are
- 1:07:31games separate. These are games separate from
- 1:07:33the movies. You know, they shouldn't be.
- 1:07:35You shouldn't, I guess, be worried about relating them to
- 1:07:37the movies if that's what, you know, they would end up being.
- 1:07:40But like, I am excited for this game and a lot of ways because
- 1:07:48it's just the next Insomniac superhero title.
- 1:07:51And like they've done so good with the previous three.
- 1:07:54They've done where it's like to see them get the opportunity to
- 1:07:57be more violent, more mature, more serious, more dramatic.
- 1:08:03It's basically like giving a studio a chance to flex another
- 1:08:06muscle and go like, hey, here's what we can do if we're given
- 1:08:10the chance to go a bit darker and deeper.
- 1:08:12And also with the character that's more tormented.
- 1:08:14I mean, and that's saying something because Spider Man's a
- 1:08:16pretty fucking tortured guy. But Logan.
- 1:08:19But Logan is is almost on a different level.
- 1:08:23Problem child. Right.
- 1:08:24Yeah, that's the. Beauty here Yeah, he is one of
- 1:08:27the most beloved characters in the Marvel pantheon in the yet
- 1:08:32he is the one with the most flaws.
- 1:08:34He is the one who is though he. He's almost the most human in
- 1:08:38some ways with that kind of statement.
- 1:08:40Exactly because he cannot die, technically there are ways you
- 1:08:44could kill him. Yes, but, but most ways no.
- 1:08:48Most normal ways he will not die from.
- 1:08:51With him being as what he is, right, I could relate to Logan's
- 1:08:55struggles. I can look at Logan like I've
- 1:08:58struggled with that. I felt that way.
- 1:09:00I have, yeah, been at those crossroads.
- 1:09:04And that's why this character is important for Insomniac to be
- 1:09:08ballsy enough. And it's easy to grab a game
- 1:09:11like Wolverine and go. We'll just make it violent and
- 1:09:14we'll like kind of. Right.
- 1:09:15Yeah, there's a way where you can, Yeah, just dumb it down
- 1:09:18until like we'll make it. Dumb it down, yeah, but this
- 1:09:21trailer shows me that that's not where they're going.
- 1:09:23I never, and yeah no never would have the millionaires go.
- 1:09:27On No, it's Insomniac. Yeah.
- 1:09:29Like they're not, Yeah, they're not.
- 1:09:30They're not in the business of doing that.
- 1:09:31They have. A and I'm happy that they have
- 1:09:34the IP because this game is going to be special.
- 1:09:36It is going to be just we have hero fatigue right now in
- 1:09:44cinema. We in in pop culture, there's
- 1:09:48hero fatigue happening. James Gunn disagrees.
- 1:09:52James Gunn does disagree. But I'm saying a lot of people
- 1:09:55look at Marvel and go, I'm just so over it, but this is a
- 1:09:59character that can really grab you and go, we'll hold on now.
- 1:10:04He's not the poster boy. I think to to add to this and
- 1:10:08not to disagree with you, but. Could you imagine a Superman
- 1:10:12that played like Brightburn? Have you seen Brightburn?
- 1:10:17I don't think I have. You stupid fuck, you've never
- 1:10:20seen Brightburn. I'm so sorry, you didn't deserve
- 1:10:23that. I don't think I have.
- 1:10:26We're watching it tonight. No, we're not.
- 1:10:29Are you? Going to bed after this.
- 1:10:30No, here's the thing. You made me lose my train of
- 1:10:36thought. I hate you.
- 1:10:37That's why we're. Both drinking and rambling on.
- 1:10:40No, you're good and I'm OK. That's fair.
- 1:10:45I just. Just in case you were wondering.
- 1:10:47I, I deserve that. No, there was something that you
- 1:10:52had just said that I wanted to respond to.
- 1:10:54I'm trying to remember what it was.
- 1:10:57It had, it had something to do with.
- 1:11:00It's just that I think that I want to see, I'm trying to say
- 1:11:09this in a way that isn't just basically repeating what I had
- 1:11:11said before. But like I, I want there to be,
- 1:11:15I don't want necessarily need them to push the boundaries of
- 1:11:17how a video game like this could be like a single player sort of
- 1:11:20superhero experience. I don't need them to necessarily
- 1:11:22push the boundaries of that. But I want them to go and say
- 1:11:25like the story itself, yes, it's going to be dark.
- 1:11:27It's going to be rough. It's going to make you question
- 1:11:31what you're doing in some ways. But I also love like, I, I would
- 1:11:36love to see just how they interpret this sort of character
- 1:11:39in a gameplay sense too. Of like, you know, are we going
- 1:11:44to have like, I like, I'm assuming the game is going to be
- 1:11:47violent all the way around, but like, is there going to be like,
- 1:11:51what kind of skill tree is that going to look like?
- 1:11:54You know, for Wolverine, you know, how are you going to
- 1:11:56diversify his gameplay? Like, because at the end of the
- 1:12:00day, he's a guy who has fucking big fucking forks for hands and
- 1:12:05like that's a that's a dangerous that's a dangerous enough
- 1:12:08ability. So like, yeah, like is, is the,
- 1:12:11is the, the the kicker for him going to be?
- 1:12:14Is being that the is the kicker going to be the fact that he has
- 1:12:17extreme movement or that like, and is that going to be a player
- 1:12:20choice where you can choose to Hey, do I want them to be more
- 1:12:22like a mirror's edge character or do I want to be more like a
- 1:12:25walking fucking tank that can just take a bunch of damage and
- 1:12:28or would. Have their own flaws.
- 1:12:30Right. Yeah, exactly.
- 1:12:31And like, that's where I'm interested because as far as I
- 1:12:34remember, they didn't really, really discuss the sort of
- 1:12:36gameplay options or perks or skills, whatever that you would
- 1:12:40have as Wolverine. And so that makes me very
- 1:12:43excited because a lot of their conversation yesterday went
- 1:12:47into, here's the trailer. Here's like I said, here's the
- 1:12:51artwork, Here's what we felt about what we wanted to do with
- 1:12:53the story. Here's like some snippets of
- 1:12:56characters that you'll see. And we've left other hidden
- 1:12:58ideas of other mutants that you might see, you know, a lot of
- 1:13:01things that are just teasing it, but like, really thinking about
- 1:13:04it from a perspective of like, OK, you load up Marvel's
- 1:13:08Wolverine. What does your first two hours
- 1:13:11look like? You know, what does your first
- 1:13:14four hours look like? What you know?
- 1:13:16Are you? I literally hope we are hungover
- 1:13:19or drunk. No, I'm not joking because I
- 1:13:24want to see him at rock bottom. That would be really that and
- 1:13:28that would be really cool. Like I, and that's what I think
- 1:13:30would be interesting is like Insomniac has a real opportunity
- 1:13:33here to just go, all right, let's just you know what Spider
- 1:13:39Man 2 starts with what Peter, you know, he's teaching at
- 1:13:43college, gets fired, eventually becomes enamored with the
- 1:13:47symbiote and all that sort of stuff, which I thought that
- 1:13:49entire sequence in Spider Man 2 is really good.
- 1:13:52Spider Man 1, you know, different, you know, again,
- 1:13:57upbeat sort of story. Miles Morales upbeat sort of
- 1:14:00story. Like it would be really
- 1:14:01interesting to for. And I think that would also be
- 1:14:04kind of a statement from Insomniac of Hey, we're coming
- 1:14:07out with this game in the first mission is Logan's hammered
- 1:14:12Logan. Logan's hammered and stumbling
- 1:14:15home from a bar and somebody pisses him off and so he fucking
- 1:14:17cuts his leg off. You know something something
- 1:14:21where he, he. Yeah, like in a drunken state of
- 1:14:24anger, just like mutilates this dude and he, he feels bad about
- 1:14:28it the day after and it haunts him for say.
- 1:14:31Half of the game. You know, like it's something
- 1:14:34where it's just like you have such an opportunity to lean into
- 1:14:39this sort of, that's what I loved about The Batman from
- 1:14:42rapper Pattinson was that they had this opportunity to lean
- 1:14:46into this very gritty, real, awful, brutal, dark Batman and
- 1:14:52in The Dark World that we hadn't really seen on television or
- 1:14:56film in a live action sense in a long time.
- 1:14:59And it's like, dude, the 1st 10 minutes, I just watched it the
- 1:15:02other day. The 1st 10 minutes of the movie
- 1:15:03is murder porn. It's literally the the fucking
- 1:15:06Riddler watching that governor outside of his house and then
- 1:15:09appearing in his house killing him and literally touching
- 1:15:12himself as he tapes the body up. Like, really?
- 1:15:16Crazy to start a movie like that, to start a movie like
- 1:15:20that. It's insane.
- 1:15:23The superhero movie, like that's insane.
- 1:15:26So like it would be, it would be incredible to see Wolverine do
- 1:15:30something similar where it's like, yeah, it's Wolverine just
- 1:15:33fucked up from a bar fight. And it's like all these people
- 1:15:37were humans and he got into a bar fight because he instigated
- 1:15:41it and like, he willingly killed all these people knowing that he
- 1:15:44was the cause of it. That right there.
- 1:15:47And he can't take it back. And he can't take it back, he
- 1:15:50can't fix it, he can't, he can't earn any of these things that
- 1:15:53and yet it haunts him. Like that would be so exciting.
- 1:15:58I don't know, like it's just even just talking about it with
- 1:16:00you right now is filling me with these ideas of how the story
- 1:16:03could go. And I'm very excited for how
- 1:16:05Insomniac does it because I know that they do these things well,
- 1:16:08like they've proven it again and again.
- 1:16:10I mean, Spider Man 2 kind of went into some dark places where
- 1:16:13I didn't expect with, with Peter being under the influence of the
- 1:16:17the symbiote. So like to see someone that is
- 1:16:20going to be obviously, I think just more naturally of a dark
- 1:16:25character. You know, Peter Parker is
- 1:16:27inherently a pretty bright guy. He's always very optimistic.
- 1:16:32Logan would argue is very much doom and gloom.
- 1:16:37But I'll get the job done whether I live or die.
- 1:16:39Kind of 10 year old to now. Nick is just so excited.
- 1:16:46I'm sure. Kidding me is going Oh my God, I
- 1:16:48get to see this hero I've loved. I mean, I wanna play X-Men
- 1:16:51Origins now to like almost refresh myself even though it's
- 1:16:54like, I have no idea how this game is gonna be.
- 1:16:57This episode feels like such. We're about to wrap it up, but
- 1:16:59it feels like such blasphemy to not have Brody here.
- 1:17:02It really does. With us.
- 1:17:04With us. It really does.
- 1:17:05I, I actually am very upset that he's not here because he's he's
- 1:17:08the biggest Wolverine fan I know.
- 1:17:10I'm calling it. We're doing 2 episodes on this.
- 1:17:12I would be so happy. Next week, we'll bring Brody.
- 1:17:14In I would be so happy to talk about this with him because I
- 1:17:16really want to hear his thoughts.
- 1:17:17I I think it'd be very interesting to see what he
- 1:17:19thinks of this and just let him speculate like what he would.
- 1:17:23I just want to let him go. Yeah, what he wants to see.
- 1:17:26Like I have to just let Brody go and just like.
- 1:17:28Yeah, it'd be a disservice not to, you know.
- 1:17:30What I mean? No, I agree.
- 1:17:32I'll. Do this.
- 1:17:32Insomniac has a very big obligation and job to do here,
- 1:17:37and I think if there was any studio to do it, it should be
- 1:17:40them. Yeah.
- 1:17:41Wolverine, again, Logan's flawed.
- 1:17:44He's depressed. He's an alcoholic.
- 1:17:47Yeah, he, but he, he's grounded. He's you.
- 1:17:52He's me. It's our worst parts about us
- 1:17:55mixed with the best heroic parts about us.
- 1:17:57And that's who Logan is, and that's who Wolverine is.
- 1:18:02He's the prick inside who's not going to take shit but will
- 1:18:06stand up on business no matter what.
- 1:18:09Right, exactly. For the right reasons.
- 1:18:12And that's Wolverine and I fucking love Insomniac for doing
- 1:18:17this and I'm so pumped. So that is where I stand on
- 1:18:21this. Evan, you have one last thing to
- 1:18:22bring up. Just reading through the
- 1:18:24Wikipedia page again in September 2024, Insomniac Games
- 1:18:31is core technology director Mike Fitzgerald confirmed that
- 1:18:33Marvel's Wolverine would support enhancements made by the PS-5
- 1:18:36Pro as they were being implemented into their existing
- 1:18:39games for the console. Side note because we didn't
- 1:18:41mention this today. The PS-5 Pro and the like, DLSS
- 1:18:46version of the PlayStation, stuff like the PSSR or whatever
- 1:18:49to do to get a pretty big upgrade next year that would
- 1:18:51make basically make running games like GTA6 or Marvel's
- 1:18:56Wolverine like not only a 60 but probably 120 for like a normal
- 1:19:01monitor. I love this thing even.
- 1:19:04More. Now regardless.
- 1:19:07I padded my PC on the top. Over the and I saw that over the
- 1:19:11summer, Brian Horton left his role as creative director on
- 1:19:14Marvel's Wolverine to join the initiative at Xbox Game Studios.
- 1:19:18If you know anything about the initiative, they were He briefly
- 1:19:22assumed the role of creative director on the Perfect Dark
- 1:19:26reboot prior to its cancellation in the studio's closure.
- 1:19:30So I feel really bad for Brian here, as he left Marvel's
- 1:19:33Wolverine to join the initiative at Xbox and then basically got
- 1:19:37fired shortly after. Perfect darkest game that should
- 1:19:41be released. Which is, Yeah, like, not to
- 1:19:44yeah, segue too much off of this, but like, really.
- 1:19:47I mean, to be perfectly honest, Xbox has now left themselves
- 1:19:49another year of letting PlayStation dominate with
- 1:19:52exclusives. I.
- 1:19:53Don't know when we get Fable. Like, when is Fable coming out?
- 1:19:58When is Forza Horizon 6 coming out?
- 1:20:00I mean, I just saw today that it's apparently revealed that
- 1:20:02it's going to be in Japan, which is fucking awesome.
- 1:20:05But like, yeah, where is it? Like but.
- 1:20:08I need to see it. Where's the next Halo game?
- 1:20:10Where is any of your other IPS? You mean poster boy?
- 1:20:13I don't know because the last one was just.
- 1:20:16AI mean I like the story, I don't care that other people.
- 1:20:18The story was good but the multiplayer dude that's.
- 1:20:21Not no, it's not. It wasn't good.
- 1:20:23I like the story. I like the one shot take that
- 1:20:25they did taking after God of War.
- 1:20:27I thought that was pretty cool. I don't know, I think that I
- 1:20:32think that's just it's going to be another PlayStation year of
- 1:20:35exclusives because it's like they just, they have them like I
- 1:20:37mean even this man, like dude, I mean they got Ghost of Yote this
- 1:20:43year and then they got fucking Marvel's Wolverine next year.
- 1:20:47Like I'm sorry, they don't need to release like 3 exclusives
- 1:20:50every year. Like this is like Ghost of Yote
- 1:20:52is going to be huge like. It's going to be massive.
- 1:20:55I don't think people that are understanding it because it's
- 1:20:58going to be like ghost of Sushima, but Elden Ring style
- 1:21:04where it's you can just explore and find things and learn things
- 1:21:08as you go and just naturally uncover the bosses.
- 1:21:12I know, I know, I know, sorry, sorry, we're already 20 minutes
- 1:21:14over 25 minutes over. But like, I just I'm so excited
- 1:21:18for the future of honestly PlayStation games because like
- 1:21:21they have, like I said, Ghost of Yote, they have Wolverine and
- 1:21:26I'm sure plenty of others in between that I can't think of
- 1:21:30right now. But that's.
- 1:21:32Fine. Regardless, I'm I'm so excited
- 1:21:35for Wolverine. I I'm going to probably
- 1:21:38pre-order it. I depending on however the
- 1:21:40collector's edition looks, I might get it too.
- 1:21:43Yeah. Yeah, I might.
- 1:21:45We'll see. I think this could be the one
- 1:21:46that Brody does get. He doesn't buy collector
- 1:21:48editions. I think he would get this one on
- 1:21:50a heartbeat. He's going to buy this.
- 1:21:51I think he. Yeah, he couldn't.
- 1:21:53Show right now, buy you're buying it.
- 1:21:56He couldn't not. You have to.
- 1:21:57I said it. Last time I got him drunk he
- 1:22:00bought a Steam deck. Yeah, I mean, yeah, we'll do
- 1:22:03that. We'll we'll do that on Thursday
- 1:22:05next week when Ghost of Yote is out.
- 1:22:07No more recording. We'll talk about it because I'm
- 1:22:09I'm set. I'm I got to set up my
- 1:22:11PlayStation again. I'll try and finish test
- 1:22:12training before Ghost of Yote comes out on Thursday.
- 1:22:14Let. Me know when you're doing that,
- 1:22:16I'll watch you the entire way through, yeah.
- 1:22:18No problem, I got it right next to me.
- 1:22:21All right, all right, everybody listen.
- 1:22:24We are pumped for Wolverine. We are.
- 1:22:27Fucking so excited. We we have an episode with Noah
- 1:22:31coming out for skate. Yep, and his thoughts on skate
- 1:22:34and my thoughts on skate. We have an episode with Brody,
- 1:22:37Evan and myself for Wolverine that'll get recorded ASAP.
