  So even the things that feel like our actions, repenting,

  sewing. Or a builder doesn't just stop

  building because the Bible says unless the Lord builds the

  house, those who build it labor in vain.

  They still lay the bricks. Those examples make it very down

  to earth. We act all the time in daily
• 7:37
  life, doing our part while recognizing there are forces or
• 7:42
  factors beyond our control or full understanding.

  And that's the connection the material makes.

  Just as people act an ordinary life, trusting in certain

  outcomes despite not controlling everything, so too should a

  person simply believe, trusting God's promise despite the

  mysterious spiritual dynamics involved in the new birth.

  instead of the offer itself. Exactly.

  And they suggest that kind of hesitation is like spiritual

  suicide. It's prioritizing figuring
• 8:40
  everything out over responding to the command to believe.

  But is it really presented as that simple?

  Or is there a genuine theological complexity that's

  hard to navigate? Well, the material acknowledges

  that some truths are hard to explain perfectly, but it also

  focus away from trying to perfectly understand every

  theological knot or, you know, striving in your own strength,

  somehow make yourself born again.

  And towards simply responding in faith, responding to the
• 10:19
  gracious command, the invitation to believe in Jesus, it lifts

  that burden of self regeneration and points you to trust the one
• 10:26
  who promises to do that work in those who come to him it.

  Becomes about responding to a promise of trust.

  Well, I'll put yes. So we've taken a deep dive today

  into these sources about the new birth, about faith, about the

  Holy Spirit's work. We've seen how essential this

  supernatural change is, that salvation is clearly linked to

  faith, and how the sources bring these together.

  God's sovereign work happening in those who believe, enabled by

  the Spirit, even if mysteriously.

  And we also heard that strong counsel not to let the apparent

  difficulties or the theological puzzles paralyze us or prevent

  simple act of. Believing, right?

  So maybe something to consider as we finish if believing in

  Jesus is presented in these sources as the surest evidence

  that the Spirit has done or is doing the necessary work of new
