The DiCecco Daily: How Eagles Plan To Deal With Heat; Injury Situation vs. Buccaneers · Inside the Birds: A Philadelphia Eagles Podcast

Speaker 1: Hey, what's up everybody. Welcome into this edition of to
• 0:13
Speaker 1: check Odaily. It's Andrew de Checko with a Friday edition,
• 0:16
Speaker 1: which means I have the final injury report news and
• 0:20
Speaker 1: we'll talk a little bit about maybe some of the
• 0:24
Speaker 1: game day activations and things like that and how the
• 0:27
Speaker 1: heat may ultimately affect that. So an injury news and
• 0:31
Speaker 1: this is not going to be a long podcast, we'll
• 0:33
Speaker 1: get right to it all. Everyone on the fifty three
• 0:35
Speaker 1: man roster is full go, except for cornerback of Dori Jackson,
• 0:41
Speaker 1: who's listed as doubtful with the groin injury. We spoke
• 0:44
Speaker 1: to a Dori Jackson Friday in the locker room and
• 0:48
Speaker 1: he talked about, you know, the big determining factor with
• 0:52
Speaker 1: his injury would be explosiveness, and he made it seem
• 0:56
Speaker 1: like it was going to be the day of type
• 0:59
Speaker 1: of situation, but also how his body responds after the
• 1:03
Speaker 1: day after putting in a lot of work on the groin.
• 1:06
Speaker 2: So he was limited Thursday and Friday.
• 1:09
Speaker 1: It seems when you're listed as doubtful, it seems like
• 1:13
Speaker 1: it's very unlikely that he's going to play, which would
• 1:15
Speaker 1: mean that third year cornerback Killey Ringo would be the
• 1:17
Speaker 1: starting cornerback this week. And there's a lot of questions
• 1:20
Speaker 1: about keiey Ringo, and I understand he entered the offseason
• 1:24
Speaker 1: as the odds on favor to be the starter, and
• 1:27
Speaker 1: he's got the youth, he's got the size, the speed
• 1:30
Speaker 1: and the physicality, and I'm sure there's a lot wondering
• 1:33
Speaker 1: why he wasn't maybe given an opportunity earlier in the
• 1:38
Speaker 1: season or something like that. But his opportunity is likely
• 1:41
Speaker 1: going to be Sunday against the Buccaneers under sweltering temperatures.
• 1:47
Speaker 1: But make no mistake, Baker Mayfield is going to be
• 1:50
Speaker 1: targeting kiey Ringo when he's out there. But what I
• 1:54
Speaker 1: will say about Keighley, and having talked to him earlier
• 1:56
Speaker 1: this week at in the locker room maybe Wednesday, he
• 1:59
Speaker 1: talked about out his mindset and I think you can
• 2:03
Speaker 1: see that his confidence never wavered. And Dori Jackson even
• 2:07
Speaker 1: said today he's going to be on the sideline cheering
• 2:09
Speaker 1: if Keeley is out there. And I asked him, where
• 2:12
Speaker 1: have you seen Keeley make the most shown the most growth,
• 2:15
Speaker 1: and he said, attention to detail, He's asking questions, And
• 2:19
Speaker 1: you couple that with the player who has that confidence
• 2:22
Speaker 1: and you don't worry about the psyche. It's now about
• 2:26
Speaker 1: can he do enough to hold up his end because
• 2:29
Speaker 1: he's going to be targeted heavily. But that's the old
• 2:33
Speaker 1: injury news, which means that jo Had Campbell and Zach
• 2:35
Speaker 1: Bond will both be playing, so everybody else on the
• 2:39
Speaker 1: fifty three man roster. So the Eagles entered this one
• 2:43
Speaker 1: pretty healthy considering what the situation has been over the
• 2:47
Speaker 1: past few seasons where they haven't been afforded that luxury.
• 2:51
Speaker 2: So I can't wait for this game.
• 2:53
Speaker 1: It's going to be very hot, and you know, the
• 2:56
Speaker 1: Eagles flew out there at four o'clock Friday afternoon. They
• 2:59
Speaker 1: land did Friday evening around seven o'clock. This is going
• 3:04
Speaker 1: to be a really good matchup. Now as we wrap
• 3:08
Speaker 1: things up, and this is again just a quick podcast,
• 3:10
Speaker 1: but you have to look at the heat and the
• 3:12
Speaker 1: situations that that presents, and for me, I would imagine
• 3:17
Speaker 1: that the Eagles are gonna want to go heavier in
• 3:20
Speaker 1: terms of their defensive personnel, especially, so you have to
• 3:23
Speaker 1: ask yourself where might that be? Because I was asked today,
• 3:27
Speaker 1: do you think it'll be a Z's ojealry? Do you
• 3:28
Speaker 1: think it'll be obo okoronkwoll. How do you think they're
• 3:31
Speaker 1: going to do it, because, in case you've missed it,
• 3:34
Speaker 1: Nolan Smith was placed on injured reserve Wednesday with the
• 3:37
Speaker 1: triceps strain. My answer to that would be, there's a
• 3:40
Speaker 1: world where you can see as he's o Jealari and
• 3:42
Speaker 1: potentially obo Ocaronquo as well, because Patrick Johnson provides a
• 3:49
Speaker 1: lot of special teams prowess, but the Eagles did not
• 3:51
Speaker 1: dress him last week. They also had Nolan Smith in
• 3:54
Speaker 1: the fold. But I would argue that having two players
• 3:57
Speaker 1: who can help you in a defensive rotation more so
• 4:00
Speaker 1: than maybe Patrick Johnson could, and obo Okoronqua has played
• 4:03
Speaker 1: special teams in his career, I think you're going to
• 4:07
Speaker 1: need a little bit more of a rotation at the
• 4:08
Speaker 1: edge rusher position than Fick Fangio typically implements. And then
• 4:13
Speaker 1: you look at the defensive tackle situation that activated all five.
• 4:18
Speaker 2: Last week, Ty Robinson the rookie being the fifth.
• 4:21
Speaker 1: Though Ty Robinson didn't see a snap in that game,
• 4:25
Speaker 1: he was active but didn't play on special teams or defense.
• 4:28
Speaker 1: This is a game where you could conceivably need all
• 4:30
Speaker 1: five in some capacity to keep that rotation churning. Looking
• 4:35
Speaker 1: at it from an elevation standpoint, that could also play
• 4:38
Speaker 1: into do you elevate a corner and who and what
• 4:43
Speaker 1: other position. Maybe it's someone like Gabe Hall from the
• 4:46
Speaker 1: practice squad when you talk about needing bodies for a
• 4:49
Speaker 1: rotation when the real field temperatures on the field are
• 4:52
Speaker 1: going to be over one hundred degrees, that's where it
• 4:55
Speaker 1: becomes imperative to have players that you can shuffle in
• 4:58
Speaker 1: and out to keep the energy going, to keep the
• 5:02
Speaker 1: different players fresh and having at least some semblance of
• 5:07
Speaker 1: energy throughout the game in order to really maintain that
• 5:10
Speaker 1: level of play that the Eagles have, that physicality, that
• 5:14
Speaker 1: attitude that they bring from a defensive perspective.
• 5:17
Speaker 2: So that's something that I'll be keeping an eye on.

Speaker 1: The Rookie Diary will be out on Inside the Birds
• 8:07
Speaker 1: dot Com Saturday morning. The podcast and the written form
• 8:11
Speaker 1: my story on a Dorri Jackson, which I really enjoyed
• 8:15
Speaker 1: putting together, is also on Inside the Birds dot Com.
• 8:17
Speaker 1: Talks about his journey as a fifteen year old moving
• 8:20
Speaker 1: by himself from the west the Midwest to the West
• 8:23
Speaker 1: Coast and how that sort of shaped his mindset. I
• 8:26
Speaker 1: encourage everyone to give that a read. So that's the
• 8:29
Speaker 1: situation right now. I'll obviously have more for you once
• 8:33
Speaker 1: we see the practice squad elevations, but this game would
• 8:35
Speaker 1: make a lot of sense, given the circumstances, to add
• 8:39
Speaker 1: another defensive lineman to the mix, especially if you think
• 8:42
Speaker 1: someone like Gabe Hall might be a little bit more
• 8:45
Speaker 1: game ready that, let's say, than a Ty Robinson, who
• 8:49
Speaker 1: again didn't play a snap last week, but was active.
• 8:52
Speaker 1: Gabe Hall played five snaps in the opener, so he
• 8:55
Speaker 1: at least gave you something. And I do believe that
• 8:58
Speaker 1: Gabe Hall is a little bit more game ready than
• 9:01
Speaker 1: Ty Robinson at this stage, based off of the actions
• 9:03
Speaker 1: of the coaching staff and everything that I saw in
• 9:05
  Speaker 1: training camp.
• 9:07
Speaker 2: Something to keep an eye on. Saturday four o'clock is.
• 9:09
Speaker 1: When the elevations are announced, and we'll have more for
• 9:11
Speaker 1: you on all the Inside the Birds platforms inside the
