Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Hey, it's your person, Michelle. I guess I'm back. I
- 0:04Speaker 1: know that it's only been one week since the last podcast,
- 0:07Speaker 1: and it's actually probably only been a week since I recorded,
- 0:10Speaker 1: but I feel like so much happened this week. That's
- 0:12Speaker 1: been like a year since I've done this. And I
- 0:14Speaker 1: don't mean in the world. I just mean my life
- 0:16Speaker 1: was really busy. So yeah, whatever, it doesn't matter. Yeah,
- 0:21Speaker 1: so today we're gonna do episode two of eighty six,
- 0:23Speaker 1: and I really don't have much to add to any
- 0:26Speaker 1: of this, so we'll just get started. And yeah, episode
- 0:29Speaker 1: two is called Spearhead. As we learned at the end
- 0:32Speaker 1: of last episode. And if you remember the end of
- 0:35Speaker 1: last episode, Lena or really I should say Lena because
- 0:39Speaker 1: I think I'm just pronouncing her name wrong, so I'll
- 0:41Speaker 1: try to say Lena from now on. She had just
- 0:44Speaker 1: connected like her power raid to the Spearhead processor so
- 0:48Speaker 1: she could talk to them, and Shin had just introduced
- 0:52Speaker 1: himself as Undertaker. Yeay, So that's exactly where we start from,
- 0:58Speaker 1: sort of, except on the other sid side of the conversation,
- 1:02Speaker 1: because we were with Spearhead last time and now we
- 1:05Speaker 1: are with Lena. So the first thing we see is
- 1:08Speaker 1: the glowing like power raids stone or whatever it is
- 1:10Speaker 1: on the back of Lena's neck, And just like at
- 1:12Speaker 1: the end of last episode, we hear Shin say, nice
- 1:15Speaker 1: to meet you Handler one. The date is May twenty second,
- 1:18Speaker 1: twenty one forty eight, which is exactly where we were
- 1:20Speaker 1: last time. We hear Shin say this is Spearhead Squadron's
- 1:24Speaker 1: combat commander personnel name Undertaker. Lena is just listening and
- 1:29Speaker 1: she looks real stressed because this is scary because Shin
- 1:33Speaker 1: is undertaker, and Undertaker apparently like freaks handlers or something.
- 1:38Speaker 1: So anyway, he continues, we received word of a new
- 1:41Speaker 1: handler coming. We look forward to working with you. Lena's
- 1:44Speaker 1: expression changes like she wasn't expecting such a pleasant greeting
- 1:48Speaker 1: from him, and she kind of gasps and says, as
- 1:52Speaker 1: do I nice to meet you, Undertaker. A petal falls
- 1:55Speaker 1: from one of the white lilies on the windowsill, and
- 1:58Speaker 1: then we go to the opening theme. Yay back from
- 2:02Speaker 1: the opening. We cut to that like dummy on the
- 2:07Speaker 1: bench you know where Spearhead lives, that has like the
- 2:10Speaker 1: sign that says pig around his neck, and we see
- 2:12Speaker 1: again that it is the twenty second of May twenty one,
- 2:15Speaker 1: forty eight. Shin is walking outside in the dark and
- 2:19Speaker 1: we hear a voice say hey there. Shin looks over
- 2:22Speaker 1: to see that guy with the spiky hair, the girl
- 2:24Speaker 1: with the black ponytail, and this dude with red hair
- 2:27Speaker 1: that I don't really know, just kind of standing over there.
- 2:29Speaker 1: They're like outside by that like garage or hanger or
- 2:32Speaker 1: whatever we're gonna call that, and Sin says, hey, spiky
- 2:35Speaker 1: guy's like the new one seems pretty dangerous, I think.
- 2:39Speaker 1: And I didn't really catch this while I was watching it,
- 2:41Speaker 1: but I think Shin kind of says like what over
- 2:44Speaker 1: here or like eh, because it only makes sense with
- 2:47Speaker 1: the next response, even though I didn't see like a
- 2:49Speaker 1: caption or anything. So the girl with a black ponytail
- 2:52Speaker 1: says the new handler, did you forget already? We see
- 2:56Speaker 1: someone walking over and he says Shin, Shin, ain't you
- 3:01Speaker 1: did it again, you bastard. The other kids kind of
- 3:04Speaker 1: look concerned, and they kind of start to back away,
- 3:06Speaker 1: and the spiky guy says, old man Aldrich is about
- 3:09Speaker 1: to go off again. Aldrich might be how his name
- 3:13Speaker 1: is pronounced. They don't really know. He has gray hair.
- 3:16Speaker 1: I think it's like longer, maybe in a ponytail. If
- 3:18Speaker 1: I'm remembering this correctly because I can write it down,
- 3:20Speaker 1: Thanks so much, Michelle. So he's like older, and he's
- 3:23Speaker 1: wearing sunglasses and he looks real pissed off. Anyway, he
- 3:26Speaker 1: approaches Shin and Sin's like, do you need something? And
- 3:29Speaker 1: Aldrich says, don't give me that. What I need to
- 3:33Speaker 1: know is why you keep smashing up your machines on
- 3:35Speaker 1: every mission. I keep telling you they have weak legs,
- 3:37Speaker 1: so don't push them. We see someone like a crew
- 3:41Speaker 1: person I guess working on Shin's juggernaut. That's like all
- 3:45Speaker 1: fucking messed up now, and Shinn says sorry. Aldretsch is like,
- 3:49Speaker 1: we don't have any spare parts. We won't be able
- 3:51Speaker 1: to make repair until the next batch comes in. Shin
- 3:54Speaker 1: is kind of walking into the garage now, and he says,
- 3:57Speaker 1: Fido should have brought back Kujo's machine. Looks like really frustrated,
- 4:01Speaker 1: and he glances over at that sign that Kujo wrote
- 4:03Speaker 1: that says one hundred and twenty nine days before I
- 4:06Speaker 1: end my service and fucking glory to the Spearhead Squadron,
- 4:10Speaker 1: and he says, yeah, I guess we could use ones
- 4:13Speaker 1: from theirs, But are you okay using parts from machine
- 4:17Speaker 1: that someone died in. He walks over to where Shin
- 4:21Speaker 1: is standing near his juggernauts, and Shin kind of like
- 4:24Speaker 1: turns to look at him, and he like bangs lightly
- 4:26Speaker 1: on the juggernaut next to his undertaker insignia, and Aldritch
- 4:30Speaker 1: looks kind of surprised, but then he smiles and he's like,
- 4:34Speaker 1: I guess it's a little too late to ask that. Okay,
- 4:36Speaker 1: got it? Undertaker? Kujo was lucky to die when you
- 4:39Speaker 1: were in his unit. You take all the other processors too.
- 4:42Speaker 1: What is happening? Oh my god, leave Shin alone. Oh
- 4:46Speaker 1: my god. I I guess it's good that Kujo died
- 4:50Speaker 1: where Shin was, but that seems upsetting. We see now
- 4:55Speaker 1: that Shin is carrying that piece of Kujo's jugg or
- 5:00Speaker 1: not that had the insignia on it, like he's holding it,
- 5:02Speaker 1: and Aldrich continues, by the way I heard the news,
- 5:07Speaker 1: what's the new handler? Like? Shin doesn't say anything for
- 5:10Speaker 1: a second, then he's like fine. Aldrich says, fine, listen you.
- 5:15Speaker 1: Shin has like gotten on top of his juggernaut now
- 5:18Speaker 1: and he starts to like go into the cockpit and
- 5:20Speaker 1: he says they sing to say hello, and that they
- 5:23Speaker 1: want to maintain good lines of communication, and I'll be
- 5:25Speaker 1: calling every day. Pretty rare for a Republic soldier. He
- 5:29Speaker 1: pulls a green toolbox out from under the seat, and
- 5:32Speaker 1: Aldrich says, so what you'd call an ordinary person. They
- 5:38Speaker 1: must live a hard life, the poor thing. He starts
- 5:41Speaker 1: to walk away. We see Shin open the box and
- 5:46Speaker 1: inside are just so many pieces of metal, each one
- 5:51Speaker 1: with a name carved into them. Shin puts Kujo's piece
- 5:55Speaker 1: on top, and he stares at them for a little while.
- 5:58Speaker 1: He looks rather a motionless, But we're not that stupid.
- 6:03Speaker 1: Right next, we get a low shot of a field
- 6:06Speaker 1: of purple flowers and there's a blue sky and power
- 6:08Speaker 1: lines in the distance, and there's a nice breeze coming through.
- 6:12Speaker 1: We see those train tracks and the purple flowers have
- 6:15Speaker 1: just taken over the field, like completely everywhere. And the
- 6:21Speaker 1: date now is May twenty ninety eight, so we're seven
- 6:25Speaker 1: days later. Inside, I guess, like the barracks, there's a
- 6:28Speaker 1: picture of Lena as the pig that that kid was drawing, like,
- 6:31Speaker 1: taped the wall and under it it says sixth handler.
- 6:34Speaker 1: We hear a voice say ready go, and another voice
- 6:37Speaker 1: say got it, and a third voice ay yes. There's
- 6:40Speaker 1: a lot of like bouncing sounds and it sounds like
- 6:41Speaker 1: they're playing some sort of like game that has a
- 6:44Speaker 1: ball in it. We get a shot of that mural
- 6:47Speaker 1: of the woman with the sword, and then Shin sitting
- 6:51Speaker 1: on a bench. We see him from behind, and he's
- 6:54Speaker 1: kind of in shadow because the light is coming from
- 6:56Speaker 1: in front of him, I believe, and some kids are
- 6:59Speaker 1: playing basketball also in front of him. We can't really
- 7:02Speaker 1: see them, We can just kind of see the basketball
- 7:04Speaker 1: every couple of seconds or something. And he is reading
- 7:08Speaker 1: a book and I tried to like figure out what
- 7:12Speaker 1: the title is, but I just can't. It looks like
- 7:15Speaker 1: it says leading ch then there's like an R and
- 7:20Speaker 1: then construction. I don't know what that means, or if
- 7:23Speaker 1: that's a real book or if they were just choosing
- 7:26Speaker 1: letters whatever. The cat is sitting next to him, and
- 7:31Speaker 1: we get a close up like side view of him
- 7:34Speaker 1: and we hear this like really weird staticky noise and
- 7:37Speaker 1: he looks up. We cut to that older blonde kid
- 7:41Speaker 1: putting a bucket on like a stack of like boxes
- 7:44Speaker 1: and supplies. I guess, and he says, there we go.
- 7:49Speaker 1: The spiky guy and the red haired girl and this
- 7:51Speaker 1: boy with brown hair are also there, and they're like
- 7:54Speaker 1: eating stuff like cherries it looks like, and some other
- 7:57Speaker 1: things like fruits out of like little bags and stuff.
- 8:01Speaker 1: The brown haired guy is also reading like a magazine,
- 8:04Speaker 1: which I thought was interesting, and it kind of looks
- 8:06Speaker 1: like they're in a town, and the spiky guy says,
- 8:10Speaker 1: big hall, huh. The red headed girl says, yeah, we'll
- 8:13Speaker 1: have a party tonight. There are also just like tons
- 8:16Speaker 1: of cans of like canned food, and that big orange
- 8:19Speaker 1: robot that we saw before is there, and it looks
- 8:22Speaker 1: like maybe the goods that they have are all on
- 8:25Speaker 1: like palettes or something, and the orange robot is like
- 8:28Speaker 1: kind of holding them up or something with like a rope.
- 8:31Speaker 1: I'm not really sure how to describe this, but it's
- 8:33Speaker 1: happening like the robot's gonna carry them back. The spiky
- 8:36Speaker 1: guy says, you get to go. Fido. The robot whose
- 8:40Speaker 1: name is Fido, I guess not slightly, but he like
- 8:42Speaker 1: doesn't have a head, so he's just got like a
- 8:44Speaker 1: body and like arms and legs, and again he's orange
- 8:47Speaker 1: and he's got like this red light slash like maybe
- 8:50Speaker 1: like lens kind of like in his body and it
- 8:53Speaker 1: kind of looks like maybe that's his face, but he
- 8:55Speaker 1: doesn't really have a face. And the blonde guy is like,
- 8:59Speaker 1: this isn't bullying, okay. Fido nods again and the red
- 9:03Speaker 1: haired girl says, no telling shin. Fido makes a bunch
- 9:06Speaker 1: of beeps and the red haired girl says, is that
- 9:09Speaker 1: a yes or no? Before we know any further, because
- 9:12Speaker 1: this isn't explained, I want to explain it. They apparently
- 9:16Speaker 1: are in a town, obviously, and this town is totally abandoned,
- 9:20Speaker 1: and they are just rating it for supplies, which I
- 9:23Speaker 1: mean you can tell by what's happening, but yeah, I
- 9:26Speaker 1: just wanted to make that really clear. And that is
- 9:29Speaker 1: where they're getting their food. They should not have access
- 9:33Speaker 1: to this actually, according to the like novel, they are
- 9:37Speaker 1: just given, you know, very plain rations I suppose while
- 9:41Speaker 1: they're in their military service thing. But this group clearly
- 9:45Speaker 1: has time to go out and explore the area and
- 9:47Speaker 1: get food, which is pretty cool. And why we see
- 9:50Speaker 1: them meeting like really cool stuff, I mean, at least
- 9:53Speaker 1: more so than the folks in the inside district or
- 9:57Speaker 1: wherever they are, like Lena. Anyway, continue along, all of
- 10:01Speaker 1: their power raids buzz like together, and we hear a
- 10:05Speaker 1: voice say, you guys who are out on a walk,
- 10:07Speaker 1: you hear me the spiky guys like, what's up THEO.
- 10:11Speaker 1: THEO says, weather report's changed, rain's coming. Spiky guy like
- 10:16Speaker 1: half gasps, and he turns back and looks kind of upsets,
- 10:19Speaker 1: and we see that in the sky approaching them is
- 10:22Speaker 1: a cloud of black dots. The spiky guy says, n
- 10:27Speaker 1: tags flight maybe and tugs flake. I don't know how
- 10:31Speaker 1: to pronounce German. And we hear THEOSA jammers too. That
- 10:35Speaker 1: means Radar'll be down. The red haired girl says. When
- 10:38Speaker 1: all they get here, we see a little bit more
- 10:40Speaker 1: of the town now, and it's like super nice, like
- 10:42Speaker 1: really old, quaint houses, but you know, like I said before,
- 10:45Speaker 1: totally abandoned and also it's like kind of hilly and
- 10:48Speaker 1: stuff really pretty. I would live there even if it's
- 10:51Speaker 1: abandoned because it's super nice and apparently they have lots
- 10:54Speaker 1: of canned food. So yeah. Anyway, we hear THEOSA in
- 10:58Speaker 1: about two hours, I'm told spikey guys like got it
- 11:01Speaker 1: heading back. THEO continues, There aren't any shepherds as sign,
- 11:05Speaker 1: it seems, so they'll just try to overwhelm you spikey guys,
- 11:08Speaker 1: like just sheep a duck hunt. Then he is like
- 11:11Speaker 1: kind of running, I guess to get back to his unit,
- 11:13Speaker 1: and we see that he's meeting cherries. He spits a
- 11:16Speaker 1: pit out in the direction of the Black swarm, and
- 11:19Speaker 1: the pit and the background kind of cross fade into
- 11:23Speaker 1: a bunch of Juggernauts lined up. We hear Shin say, good,
- 11:26Speaker 1: everyone's here attention. All of the kids in the group
- 11:29Speaker 1: turn to face him solemnly. They look like they're ready
- 11:32Speaker 1: for whatever is going to happen next. Shin says, I'll
- 11:35Speaker 1: explain the situation. There's one swarm close by and another
- 11:38Speaker 1: they're linking up with from the rear, supplying the first.
- 11:41Speaker 1: Probably we see everyone like getting ready and getting into
- 11:44Speaker 1: their cockpits, and Shin continues, as soon as that's done,
- 11:47Speaker 1: they'll attack. We'll ambush them at point three or four
- 11:50Speaker 1: on their route, establish a killzone on main Street where
- 11:52Speaker 1: we'll eliminate most of the enemy. We see someone we
- 11:55Speaker 1: can't really tell who in a cockpit, and the screen
- 11:58Speaker 1: like pops up in front of them, and it says
- 12:00Speaker 1: like system starting, and then the screen switches to the
- 12:03Speaker 1: exterior like it's a window, but it's not a window
- 12:06Speaker 1: because juggernauts don't have any windows, so they're relying on
- 12:09Speaker 1: I guess, like a camera on the outside to see
- 12:11Speaker 1: what's going on, which is kind of interesting. We cut
- 12:14Speaker 1: to the sky where these dark, massive cumulo nimbus clouds
- 12:17Speaker 1: are like rolling in with those black flying things coming
- 12:19Speaker 1: with them, and then we see a crumbling city streets.
- 12:23Speaker 1: The sun is kind of like peeking through the clouds,
- 12:26Speaker 1: like you know, creating like those streaks, and we hear
- 12:30Speaker 1: someone who I'm pretty sure is Theosa. Even in the spring,
- 12:33Speaker 1: it gets cold when the sun disappears, it looks exactly
- 12:37Speaker 1: like spring. Like I don't know how to describe the scene,
- 12:40Speaker 1: but it looks like it's spring. It looks like it's
- 12:43Speaker 1: just a little bit chilly, and yeah, if the sun
- 12:46Speaker 1: would kind of go behind the clouds, you'd be cold.
- 12:49Speaker 1: But otherwise it's like a perfect beautiful day, kind of
- 12:52Speaker 1: like it is today here. But whatever someone else says,
- 12:56Speaker 1: the cockpit gets awful cold considering how cramped it is.
- 12:59Speaker 1: Someone else is like, I mean, in the armour's paper thin,
- 13:01Speaker 1: and it has plenty of gaps in it. The redheaded
- 13:04Speaker 1: girl says, and it's slow, and someone else says, and
- 13:07Speaker 1: it breaks easily. The sunlight is slowly disappearing back behind
- 13:11Speaker 1: the clouds, and someone else says, yeah, it's a piece
- 13:14Speaker 1: of shit. We see Shin in a cockpit and his
- 13:18Speaker 1: power aid suddenly turns green, and we hear Lina say
- 13:21Speaker 1: Handler one to all units, the enemy appears to be approaching.
- 13:24Speaker 1: Deploy it point two oh eight and intercept them. Shinn says,
- 13:28Speaker 1: undertaker to handler one, were already deployed. He kind of
- 13:31Speaker 1: half shrugs, will intercept them at point three or four.
- 13:34Speaker 1: A little farther ahead, we see kind of the rest
- 13:37Speaker 1: of the Spearhead crew now looking kind of embarrassed for Lena,
- 13:40Speaker 1: which is really interesting because what we just learned here
- 13:43Speaker 1: is that Lena did not give them the order to
- 13:46Speaker 1: go out, So who did Shin did? So Lena didn't
- 13:52Speaker 1: know that there were people approaching, but Shin knew it before.
- 13:56Speaker 1: Like is he scouting? I assume he's got to be
- 13:59Speaker 1: like scout ahead or something, But it does make her
- 14:02Speaker 1: look pretty stupid, and yeah, like looking at the rest
- 14:06Speaker 1: of them, it just looks like they're all like, oh,
- 14:08Speaker 1: bless her heart, she's trying so hard kind of deal.
- 14:12Speaker 1: Lena says, that's fast. You're as good as they say, Undertaker.
- 14:16Speaker 1: The spiky guy suddenly looks up and we see a
- 14:19Speaker 1: screen and it says Legion approaching there. Looks like something
- 14:24Speaker 1: bright on the horizon now and he says, here they
- 14:28Speaker 1: come up ahead of them is a I wrote Pittsburgh
- 14:31Speaker 1: or San Francisco styles street. It's very very hilly. It
- 14:35Speaker 1: just like goes up and you can't see anymore at
- 14:37Speaker 1: the top because I guess it goes down on the
- 14:39Speaker 1: other side, and the army of Legion things slowly appears
- 14:44Speaker 1: as they're coming over the top of the hill. They
- 14:47Speaker 1: basically look like these kind of weird, low spidery looking things.
- 14:51Speaker 1: They're white, and they have guns on both sides of
- 14:54Speaker 1: like the middle part. And someone sighs and they're like
- 14:57Speaker 1: Legion's out in full force again today. On the screen,
- 15:00Speaker 1: it tells us that this weird spidery thing is called
- 15:04Speaker 1: ama Ease ama ease maybe, And I'm pronouncing it like
- 15:09Speaker 1: that because I read the Japanese, not because I understood
- 15:11Speaker 1: how to pronounce it in English. Or whatever I'm trying
- 15:14Speaker 1: to pronounce it in and it says it's a scout type.
- 15:18Speaker 1: Someone says, well, they're mostly amisee. We see the Amisee
- 15:22Speaker 1: things strolling down the street and someone says they're easy
- 15:27Speaker 1: to destroy, but they're kind of obnoxious. Now we cut
- 15:30Speaker 1: to some bigger robody thing with like legs and shit,
- 15:35Speaker 1: they all have like legs. Nothing has, you know, wheels,
- 15:39Speaker 1: which I don't know if that's a good idea. In fact,
- 15:42Speaker 1: in the late novel, I remember them talking about how
- 15:45Speaker 1: the Juggernauts in particular had weak legs. They kind of
- 15:48Speaker 1: said that earlier. And they're like good in some situations,
- 15:51Speaker 1: but in other situations, like if you have kind of
- 15:53Speaker 1: unstable ground, something soft or like mud, you're fucked. So
- 15:58Speaker 1: I don't know. Maybe these guys have figured that out,
- 16:01Speaker 1: or maybe they all just suck in different types of
- 16:03Speaker 1: landscape and this is just the right space for them. Anyway.
- 16:07Speaker 1: We see that the bigger leggy thing is a dragoon
- 16:11Speaker 1: type growl wolf, and someone says, growl wolves, what a pain.
- 16:15Speaker 1: Somebody else is like, I guess we have to take
- 16:17Speaker 1: this seriously today. Now we cut to some even bigger
- 16:21Speaker 1: mech things and they have like a big gun in
- 16:25Speaker 1: front of them, and they kind of look like tanks
- 16:28Speaker 1: with legs. Again, so many legs. Why do we have
- 16:31Speaker 1: so many legs on everything? And the screen tells us
- 16:35Speaker 1: that this is a tank type low. Maybe I don't know.
- 16:39Speaker 1: I'm trying to read the Japanese so it will help me,
- 16:42Speaker 1: so I'm gonna call it a low. The red haired
- 16:44Speaker 1: girl says, I really hate that guy. And someone else
- 16:47Speaker 1: is like a Loew's gun is twice as powerful as ours.
- 16:51Speaker 1: Someone else says it can kill you fast. This is
- 16:54Speaker 1: kind of an interesting way to tell us things about it,
- 16:57Speaker 1: which is I'm talking to each other anyway. Now we
- 16:59Speaker 1: see was flying things and it says electronic disruption type
- 17:04Speaker 1: and Tug's flake. Maybe. We see the spiky guy and
- 17:07Speaker 1: he puts his hands behind his head confidently, Okay, time
- 17:11Speaker 1: to get to work. He puts his arms down. In
- 17:13Speaker 1: the background, the song Answer starts to play and I
- 17:16Speaker 1: get like super fucking excited, and the silver haired girl
- 17:19Speaker 1: stretches her arms and I believe we see Shin adjust
- 17:23Speaker 1: his bluetooth thing that's on the side of his head
- 17:25Speaker 1: that I don't know what it does, and the legion
- 17:29Speaker 1: are coming towards them, and we see one of the
- 17:32Speaker 1: kids steady their hands on the controls. Then we cut
- 17:35Speaker 1: to a Juggernaut hiding behind the rubble of a partially
- 17:37Speaker 1: collapsed building as the enemy passes, and Shinn says, open fire,
- 17:41Speaker 1: and they like ambush them. Yay. Some of the Jyroonauts
- 17:45Speaker 1: are like firing from the top of buildings, and the
- 17:48Speaker 1: bad guys are like shooting and then like firing. Some
- 17:51Speaker 1: like missle things at the Juggernauts, and the Juggernauts like
- 17:54Speaker 1: duck back. And then one of the Juggernauts that was
- 17:57Speaker 1: like on a building like rappels down the side and
- 18:00Speaker 1: Shinn says, third platform withdraw to the southeast. Keep your
- 18:03Speaker 1: current targets close to you. So Juggernauts are like running
- 18:05Speaker 1: all over and doing stuff. And it's actually really hard
- 18:07Speaker 1: for me to narrate this because I don't always know
- 18:09Speaker 1: what's going on. And Shinn says, fifth platoon, maintain your
- 18:13Speaker 1: current position. When the enemy platoon enters the kill zone,
- 18:16Speaker 1: wipe him out with coordinated fire. He's a pretty good leader.
- 18:19Speaker 1: We cut to the blonde older kid and he says
- 18:22Speaker 1: black Dog Roger Snowitch reload while you can. We see
- 18:26Speaker 1: the silver haired girl and she says, Snowitch Roger as always,
- 18:29Speaker 1: thanks for the reminder. Uh huh. We cut to the
- 18:32Speaker 1: Juggernaut with the Fox on its side, and we see
- 18:34Speaker 1: the short blonde kid and he says, laughing Fox, same,
- 18:37Speaker 1: don't shoot me black Dog. Okay, So now I understand
- 18:40Speaker 1: what's going on. Laughing Fox is acting like a decoy,
- 18:43Speaker 1: and he's like leading the robots around and leading them
- 18:46Speaker 1: like right to black Dog so that they can fire
- 18:49Speaker 1: on them. And it's working so like they're fighting, but
- 18:52Speaker 1: it looks like maybe the kids have them on the defensive.
- 18:55Speaker 1: And then Shin hears some static and he looks up
- 18:58Speaker 1: and he says, all units, cease fire, split it up.
- 19:00Speaker 1: The Juggernauts all kind of like scurry off, and the
- 19:03Speaker 1: area just starts getting bombed. We hear Lena say handler
- 19:07Speaker 1: one to all units. That's a long range gunner type
- 19:10Speaker 1: scorpion fire. Be careful. Like the whole city is just
- 19:14Speaker 1: being blown to shit now basically, but that's okay because
- 19:16Speaker 1: no one lives there, even though, like I liked it
- 19:19Speaker 1: and I didn't want to see destroyed anyway, Lana continues,
- 19:22Speaker 1: I'm sending you the estimated location of their spotters, confirm
- 19:25Speaker 1: and take them out. We go to a cockpit and
- 19:27Speaker 1: it looks like maybe they're getting the data from Lena
- 19:30Speaker 1: now and we see that there are three gunners somewhere.
- 19:34Speaker 1: I guess, and Shin says, gunslinger four units. Okay, I
- 19:37Speaker 1: can't count at a distance of twelve thousand heading zero
- 19:41Speaker 1: three zero on the roof the red girl, who I
- 19:44Speaker 1: guess his Gunslanger says Roger on it. Shin continues, Handler
- 19:49Speaker 1: one directional laser based data transmissions can reveal our location.
- 19:53Speaker 1: Please limit yourself to verbal communication during operations. Yeah, he's
- 19:58Speaker 1: pretty cool. Tell her like it is. She's just exposed
- 20:02Speaker 1: your position apparently. Anyway, Shin's cockpit is kind of being
- 20:07Speaker 1: rocked around, and Lena says, I'm sorry. Shin continues, the
- 20:11Speaker 1: next set of observers will be approaching soon. Keep me
- 20:14Speaker 1: in forms of their location. Lena's like, okay, there's some explosion,
- 20:18Speaker 1: like something is shot off the roof, and then there's
- 20:21Speaker 1: like smoke, and when it clears, a juggernaut is like
- 20:24Speaker 1: scuttling along, and we hear Spiky guy say there's an
- 20:27Speaker 1: awful lot of them today, Undertaker, and Shin's like a
- 20:30Speaker 1: duck hunt, right, just enjoy yourself, Spiky Guy chuckles. We
- 20:35Speaker 1: see a metal case like dropping on the ground and
- 20:37Speaker 1: I didn't get what it is, but I think that
- 20:39Speaker 1: like Shin is reloading or something, and we hear him say,
- 20:43Speaker 1: there's definitely more loas than expected. The restricted vision makes
- 20:46Speaker 1: it more dangerous. We see that like, I guess the
- 20:49Speaker 1: case is being loaded with the help of Fido. I
- 20:52Speaker 1: guess maybe these are like helpful robot things. I don't
- 20:55Speaker 1: know anyway, Shin says we should start wheedling down their numbers.
- 21:00Speaker 1: Spikey Guy's like, you make it sound easy. A Juggernaut
- 21:03Speaker 1: ducks behind a wall as an army of lows like
- 21:05Speaker 1: shoot at it, and Shin says, I'll handle the lows.
- 21:08Speaker 1: You deal with the others in take command. Spikey Guy says, Roger,
- 21:11Speaker 1: that don't make Aldred scream his head off again. Ah,
- 21:14Speaker 1: they're friends anyway. Chintz Juggernaut like bolts around the corner
- 21:18Speaker 1: and we hear Lena say, Undertaker, what are you doing.
- 21:22Speaker 1: What he's doing is closing in on the tanks things
- 21:26Speaker 1: and he shoots at them and he like dodges a
- 21:28Speaker 1: missile by like an inch which is pretty cool because
- 21:31Speaker 1: these things aren't supposed to be very good at doing anything.
- 21:34Speaker 1: The juggernauts, that is, he pushes forward and he's like
- 21:37Speaker 1: dodging enemy fire, and he like leaps on one and
- 21:39Speaker 1: like shoots it from the top, which is pretty cool.
- 21:42Speaker 1: And he's like super good at evading and everything, and
- 21:44Speaker 1: he's closing it on the others, and he like takes
- 21:47Speaker 1: out this really large blade and he just slices one
- 21:49Speaker 1: of the dude's legs in half. Pretty cool. He slides
- 21:53Speaker 1: to a stop and spins around and shoots at another one,
- 21:56Speaker 1: and another shoots at him, but he like jumps and
- 21:59Speaker 1: uses his grap cook to like grab onto an overpass
- 22:02Speaker 1: and like pull himself up. Then he jumps down and
- 22:05Speaker 1: he lands right on top of one and he shoots
- 22:07Speaker 1: it from the top again. The other one that's still
- 22:10Speaker 1: there can't see him because of the smoke, so it's
- 22:12Speaker 1: like just waiting, and Lena thinks, so this is Undertaker.
- 22:16Speaker 1: We pull in towards the smoke and we start to
- 22:20Speaker 1: very slowly see Shin's red headlight from his juggernauts appear,
- 22:25Speaker 1: and then he lunges forward. We go to black. We
- 22:29Speaker 1: fade back in we are looking up at the overpass
- 22:32Speaker 1: and the sky is orange and there's like this white
- 22:36Speaker 1: stuff like ash, and then like I got real sad
- 22:39Speaker 1: for a second because banana fish. Anyway, there's ash, not
- 22:43Speaker 1: from banana fish, but the type of thing falling from
- 22:46Speaker 1: the sky and the Legion and that kind of cloud
- 22:50Speaker 1: of flying things are retreating. Spiky Guy and Laughing Fox
- 22:55Speaker 1: have their cockpits oven and Spiky Guy is just kind
- 22:58Speaker 1: of watching with his arms crossed while laughing. Fox stretches. Gunslinger,
- 23:04Speaker 1: who's also there, just kind of looks over chins insignia
- 23:07Speaker 1: and I'm supposed to let you know that as the
- 23:09Speaker 1: Legion move they make this weird clicking, popping noise, which
- 23:12Speaker 1: is kind of disconcerting. But they're leaving, so it's fine.
- 23:16Speaker 1: Shin is outside and he's looking off into the distance
- 23:19Speaker 1: and the sun is going down, and after a couple
- 23:23Speaker 1: of minutes, everything is just quiet except for the wind
- 23:27Speaker 1: and we see the title card Episode two, Spearhead. Yeah,
- 23:30Speaker 1: that's not it. We cut to Lena's screen with the
- 23:34Speaker 1: enemy positions on it, and Lena says Handler one to
- 23:37Speaker 1: all units that's long range gun or type scorpion fire.
- 23:41Speaker 1: Be careful. We see again that the day is still
- 23:43Speaker 1: May twenty ninth, twenty eight, so we're just seeing the
- 23:47Speaker 1: other side of what just happened. We're seeing Lena's point
- 23:50Speaker 1: of view. We're in the control room with her, and
- 23:52Speaker 1: she says, I'm sending you the estimated location of the
- 23:55Speaker 1: spotters three potential locations. Confirm and take them out. We
- 23:59Speaker 1: hear Shin say, handler one directional laser based data transmissions
- 24:03Speaker 1: can reveal our location. Lena looks down, kind of ashamed,
- 24:07Speaker 1: because she should be, and Shin continues, please limit yourself
- 24:11Speaker 1: to verbal communication during operations. Lena size, I'm sorry. Shin says,
- 24:17Speaker 1: the next set of observers will be appearing soon. Lena gasps.
- 24:21Speaker 1: Shin continues, keep me informed of their location. Lena smiles. Okay.
- 24:25Speaker 1: We get a close up of Lena's smiling mouth, and
- 24:29Speaker 1: then we cut to a new location. An old guy,
- 24:32Speaker 1: I assume a teacher, is standing at a blackboard pointing
- 24:35Speaker 1: to a map of the Republic of San Magnolia, which
- 24:39Speaker 1: kind of looks like a circle sort of. It's a
- 24:42Speaker 1: circular looking country. I mean, it's not perfectly circle, but
- 24:44Speaker 1: it's not like anything fancy looking anyway. The teacher says,
- 24:49Speaker 1: Stellar year twenty one thirty nine, nine years ago. He
- 24:53Speaker 1: is reading this from a book, which is weird because
- 24:55Speaker 1: he should know shit, He continues, war was declared on
- 24:59Speaker 1: the Republic of sand mag Nola by the neighboring Empire
- 25:01Speaker 1: of JIOD. They began an invasion with their autonomous combat machines,
- 25:05Speaker 1: the Legion. Okay, so now we know what's going on.
- 25:09Speaker 1: We see someone's hand taking notes, and the teacher continues,
- 25:12Speaker 1: but we estimate that, in fact, JIOD had been wiped
- 25:15Speaker 1: out by its own out of control legion four years prior.
- 25:18Speaker 1: Oh shit. We kind of cut to the students who
- 25:22Speaker 1: are paying all various sorts of attention. There are two
- 25:26Speaker 1: girls who are talking quietly, and there's this one dude
- 25:28Speaker 1: who's like trying to take notes, but his head keeps
- 25:31Speaker 1: dropping like he's about to fall asleep. The teacher continues.
- 25:34Speaker 1: Given that all legion have an operating time of fifty
- 25:37Speaker 1: thousand hours approximately six years, they'll be completely shut down
- 25:41Speaker 1: in about two years. How do you guys know this?
- 25:44Speaker 1: Why would you know this? Anyway? We cut quickly to
- 25:47Speaker 1: someone sitting observing and we see that he is an
- 25:51Speaker 1: arm man. That's his MP. So I think he's military police,
- 25:54Speaker 1: which is kind of scary. Guys. The teacher pauses to
- 25:57Speaker 1: look at him, and he seems like real, real nervous, because, Yeah,
- 26:02Speaker 1: I think having the military police observe your history class
- 26:06Speaker 1: is probably not a good sign. Probably means that you
- 26:10Speaker 1: have to teach something very, very specific or you'll get
- 26:13Speaker 1: in trouble. But what do I know? The teacher continues. Thus,
- 26:18Speaker 1: you new soldiers will only have two years before the
- 26:21Speaker 1: war ends, but during that time, we hope that you'll
- 26:24Speaker 1: do your best to fulfill your duties. After all, the
- 26:27Speaker 1: Republic's juggernauts he's tapping an image of them are vastly superior,
- 26:32Speaker 1: autonomous units compared to the Legion. I didn't get that sense.
- 26:36Speaker 1: Lena is biting her lip. Oh, she's there observing this class,
- 26:40Speaker 1: I guess, squeezing both of her hands together. The teacher continues,
- 26:44Speaker 1: not one fatality has taken place since their introduction. Yeah,
- 26:48Speaker 1: that's enough for Lena. She's like, that's not true. People
- 26:51Speaker 1: have died. Everyone looks over at Lena, confused. The teacher's
- 26:55Speaker 1: mouth is just hanging open and he's struggling to form
- 26:58Speaker 1: any sort of words. The military police dud looks up.
- 27:02Speaker 1: The teacher finally figures out what to say. Today, we
- 27:05Speaker 1: have a real handler who serves as a Juggernaut command
- 27:08Speaker 1: and control officer. Lena is I guess standing at this point,
- 27:12Speaker 1: and the teacher says, this is lad Alina Malise. She
- 27:15Speaker 1: wants to speak with you. Lena salutes and we see
- 27:18Speaker 1: that she's at the back of the room and the
- 27:20Speaker 1: class stands to face her, and she says, what I'm
- 27:24Speaker 1: about to tell you is the real history of the Republic. Lena,
- 27:28Speaker 1: what are you doing? Nine years ago, the Republic's regular
- 27:31Speaker 1: army was brought to the point of collapse in just
- 27:33Speaker 1: two weeks by the Legion's overwhelming firepower. The Republic's government
- 27:37Speaker 1: went on to make two decisions. She is walking to
- 27:40Speaker 1: the front of the auditorium now. The first was to
- 27:43Speaker 1: withdraw all citizens into eighty five administrative districts. The other
- 27:47Speaker 1: was to pass a special Wartime Peace Preservation Act. The
- 27:50Speaker 1: law strips citizenship and all rights from anyone who didn't
- 27:53Speaker 1: have silver hair and eyes like us Alba. Okay, the
- 27:56Speaker 1: race has a name. They would no longer be considered
- 27:58Speaker 1: human and wouldn't it sad be kept in carefully monitored
- 28:02Speaker 1: in tournment camps outside of the eighty five districts, and
- 28:05Speaker 1: due to that, as you're all aware, she points to
- 28:08Speaker 1: the map. Now, because she's at the front, the now
- 28:10Speaker 1: supposedly empty area became known as the eighty sixth district,
- 28:14Speaker 1: and the people who live there became known as eighty six. Okay,
- 28:17Speaker 1: now we know what's going on. They were forced to
- 28:20Speaker 1: build the Fortress Grand mur the wall isolating the eighty
- 28:23Speaker 1: sixth district. She pulls down a map of a Juggernaut
- 28:27Speaker 1: with its specs on it and says, and to pilot
- 28:30Speaker 1: the Juggernauts. She slams her fist against the diagram. There
- 28:33Speaker 1: are humans inside the Juggernauts, but because the ones inside
- 28:37Speaker 1: the eighty six aren't human, we say they're autonomous. The
- 28:42Speaker 1: teacher looks like he wants to die. Lena continues, and
- 28:46Speaker 1: even as we speak, they're out there surrounded by the
- 28:49Speaker 1: Legion fighting. The military police person is watching silently. Lena continues.
- 28:55Speaker 1: The news you see every morning isn't true. People are dying.
- 28:58Speaker 1: Dozens can die in a single back. At this point,
- 29:01Speaker 1: a student stands, but they're not human right, He holds
- 29:06Speaker 1: up a textbook. They're humanoid pigs. That failed to evolve.
- 29:11Speaker 1: Lena's like, they are human. I fight with them every day.
- 29:15Speaker 1: A second student says, you say you fight with them,
- 29:18Speaker 1: but have you ever gone to the battlefield. Lena's eyes
- 29:22Speaker 1: widened and she gasps. It's silent for a moment. Then
- 29:26Speaker 1: she says, I have just once. The students gasp, and
- 29:30Speaker 1: there's kind of a quiet shatter that erupts. She continues,
- 29:35Speaker 1: I went, but I didn't fight. The only ones who
- 29:37Speaker 1: risk their lives in battle are the eighty six, the
- 29:39Speaker 1: people that we stripped all rights from. She makes a fist.
- 29:43Speaker 1: The military police person stands. The teacher gasps and kind
- 29:47Speaker 1: of rushes over to Lena and says, very quietly, you
- 29:50Speaker 1: can't do this. Major. I told you not to say
- 29:53Speaker 1: anything that sounds like you've sided with them. Lena's like, teacher,
- 29:59Speaker 1: what does our nameation's flag stand for. The teacher's like,
- 30:03Speaker 1: what are you? Lena cuts him off. Freedom, equality, brotherhood, justice,
- 30:07Speaker 1: and nobility. The teacher says, those only apply to humans.
- 30:13Speaker 1: The eighty six look human, but they're not. You mustn't
- 30:16Speaker 1: misinform my students. Lena looks pissed, and she hears the
- 30:20Speaker 1: door closed and she looks over and the military police
- 30:22Speaker 1: person is gone. And I don't know what this means.
- 30:24Speaker 1: Is he going to tell someone so that like she
- 30:27Speaker 1: or the teacher can be arrested or is he bored?
- 30:29Speaker 1: Not sure? Lena siys the eighty six are teenage boys
- 30:33Speaker 1: and girls just like us, but they don't get to
- 30:36Speaker 1: enjoy entertainment or luxuries the way we do. They can't
- 30:39Speaker 1: laugh innocently like we can. We can't just leave them
- 30:43Speaker 1: there all alone. We can't see them, but if we
- 30:46Speaker 1: listen carefully, we can hear the voices of the nameless soldiers.
- 30:49Speaker 1: She pauses, even a part we look at the same stars.
- 30:55Speaker 1: We cut to Annette, who is kind of looking out
- 30:57Speaker 1: that window again like she did in the last episode,
- 30:59Speaker 1: and she says, and you told the new recruits that
- 31:03Speaker 1: Lena is in the changing room, and we hear say, yeah,
- 31:07Speaker 1: and that's like this time you'll get punished, right. Lena
- 31:10Speaker 1: opens the door and she's wearing a robe, and she says,
- 31:13Speaker 1: don't worry, Uncle Jerome will tell them how firmly I
- 31:16Speaker 1: believe in this. She smiles kind of slyly, and yeah,
- 31:20Speaker 1: lots of nepotism going on. Annette says, you're surprisingly cunning
- 31:24Speaker 1: about that, uh, ignorant, more like you're being protected. Huh.
- 31:30Speaker 1: Lena's face falls. It's not too late to change the
- 31:33Speaker 1: Republic's foolish mistake and that's like, okay, yeah whatever. Lena
- 31:39Speaker 1: kind of pouts a net continues, So how was your
- 31:42Speaker 1: meeting with the famous Undertaker? Lena says, we're communicating regularly.
- 31:48Speaker 1: We see her uniform like hanging in a cubby for
- 31:51Speaker 1: like kind of a long time while they have a conversation.
- 31:54Speaker 1: So we can save some animation budget, and Lena continues,
- 31:57Speaker 1: we synchronize with the Power Raid nightly, like nightly. What
- 32:01Speaker 1: do you talk about? Lena says, lots of stuff, some
- 32:05Speaker 1: of it not related to work or the mission, even
- 32:07Speaker 1: a part our hearts are connected, Ah, sweetheart, and also,
- 32:12Speaker 1: god damn, you're ignorance. Annette says, I told you not
- 32:16Speaker 1: to get too attached. We see Lena again and she
- 32:20Speaker 1: is sitting in a chair and she says, a capable
- 32:24Speaker 1: leader with solid combat skills, who's a little reckless, but bold.
- 32:29Speaker 1: He's a very good soldier. Undertaker isn't the scary man
- 32:32Speaker 1: that they say he is? Ah. She smiles really confidently,
- 32:36Speaker 1: and Nett's like, that's just what you think right. She
- 32:40Speaker 1: looks maybe a little annoyed and says, your heart rates elevated.
- 32:46Speaker 1: Lena kind of gasps and she blushes. Oh, she likes Undertaker,
- 32:50Speaker 1: even though she does not know him at all and
- 32:53Speaker 1: has never seen him. We cut to Lena holding up papers,
- 32:58Speaker 1: looking really confused. Apparently these papers are after action reports,
- 33:03Speaker 1: and the first one says first UTV Squadron Spearhead after
- 33:07Speaker 1: action Report. She is holding it up to the lights
- 33:10Speaker 1: with another report behind it, and they are the exact
- 33:14Speaker 1: same reports, like exactly. She picks up another one and
- 33:18Speaker 1: they all just kind of line up. They even have
- 33:21Speaker 1: the same date on them. They all say April second,
- 33:24Speaker 1: twenty one, forty eight. Lena exhales frustrated, and she's like, geez, yeah,
- 33:30Speaker 1: I can't believe if you're gonna send the same report,
- 33:32Speaker 1: you wouldn't at least change the date. The clock I
- 33:35Speaker 1: guess in her room chimes and she jumps. She's sitting
- 33:38Speaker 1: at her desk in her bedroom. She presses the power
- 33:40Speaker 1: raid and says power raid activate Synchronization Target Spearhead Processor.
- 33:45Speaker 1: We cut to outside of the window and we're kind
- 33:47Speaker 1: of looking in on her, and she smiles. Then she
- 33:50Speaker 1: looks confused, then smiles again and starts talking. It's kind
- 33:54Speaker 1: of cool because, you know, we know that she's talking
- 33:56Speaker 1: to them, but we can't hear what she's saying. We're
- 33:58Speaker 1: just kind of going by facial expressions, which seems like
- 34:01Speaker 1: maybe she's having a really nice time. Really, all we
- 34:03Speaker 1: can hear is the traffic outside. It's kind of a
- 34:06Speaker 1: cool scene. Then we go to the ending theme. Yay,
- 34:11Speaker 1: I guess so we didn't have it last week, so
- 34:13Speaker 1: I'll tell you a little about it. It's called Avid
- 34:16Speaker 1: and it's by here A, Yuki, Souana and Mizuki, and
- 34:21Speaker 1: the ending themes in this show are really cool. So
- 34:24Speaker 1: what we have is just this image from the episode,
- 34:27Speaker 1: which in this case it is kind of a shot
- 34:31Speaker 1: of the legion when they were like by that underpass
- 34:34Speaker 1: and she was jumping around and stuff. But it looks
- 34:36Speaker 1: like it's an old photograph and mostly it is blue
- 34:40Speaker 1: and gray except for like one weirdly red legion in
- 34:44Speaker 1: the middle, And it's almost like it is stop motion
- 34:49Speaker 1: multiple photographs of the same thing, because it's just kind
- 34:52Speaker 1: of slightly changing, like the scratches on the picture or
- 34:55Speaker 1: changing slightly or the angle, you know, like the picture
- 34:59Speaker 1: slightly turned a little bit diagonal in one, so it's like,
- 35:04Speaker 1: it's kind of nice. I really like it. And then
- 35:06Speaker 1: about halfway through it switches to the white lilies in
- 35:10Speaker 1: the vase on Lana's windowsill, and it's red background with
- 35:15Speaker 1: blue lilies, kind of the same stop motion multiple photograph deal.
- 35:19Speaker 1: I've never seen anyone else do this before, and I
- 35:22Speaker 1: just think it's really nice. Yeah, and that's it. No,
- 35:25Speaker 1: I'm just kidding. This show is really fucked up. And
- 35:27Speaker 1: it keeps ending and not actually ending. We cut to
- 35:31Speaker 1: one of the Spearhead Squadron people, the redhaired guy, pointing
- 35:35Speaker 1: a gun at the camera. He shoots. We see that
- 35:39Speaker 1: he's shooting at three cans that have like pictures of
- 35:42Speaker 1: animals drawn on them, and he knocks one over, but
- 35:44Speaker 1: I don't think he hits the other ones. They're outside
- 35:48Speaker 1: of like they're barracks. It's night and it's lid by floodlights.
- 35:52Speaker 1: We see that it is May twenty ninth, twenty one
- 35:54Speaker 1: forty eight, and we hear someone say, okay, one hit
- 35:57Speaker 1: on King Bear, two on Bunny Night, how do we
- 36:00Speaker 1: toe get seven points? Haruto's like I missed two shots. Huh,
- 36:05Speaker 1: I'm just not that good with handguns, Like I should
- 36:08Speaker 1: probably stop here and explain something. So we have these
- 36:11Speaker 1: people who have been stripped of their citizenship. They have
- 36:13Speaker 1: no rights. They shouldn't have guns, right, They really shouldn't
- 36:17Speaker 1: have guns because if they have weapons, they can revolt
- 36:21Speaker 1: against their captors basically, and actually they are not supposed
- 36:25Speaker 1: to have guns. According to the light novel. These guns
- 36:28Speaker 1: have just been found in the towns that they are
- 36:31Speaker 1: essentially looting. I mean, no one lives there, so they're scavenging.
- 36:35Speaker 1: So same thing as what was happening with the food
- 36:38Speaker 1: that they're gathering. They are gathering weapons when they find them,
- 36:41Speaker 1: which is why all these people have guns. But they're
- 36:43Speaker 1: totally not supposed to have them. But I'm glad that
- 36:45Speaker 1: they do. Gotta protect themselves, and I guess shit has
- 36:48Speaker 1: to shoot people in the head, yeay. Anyway, we cut
- 36:53Speaker 1: to food on a tray in someone's lap. Looks like
- 36:56Speaker 1: they're soup, maybe some chicken, and like an orange, like
- 36:59Speaker 1: it looks like one of the those Suma oranges. Looks good.
- 37:02Speaker 1: The person to their right is holding that cat, and
- 37:05Speaker 1: then we see that it's the spiky guy eating and
- 37:08Speaker 1: shin that's sitting next to him, and Shin is just reading,
- 37:12Speaker 1: not eating at the time. We hear a voice say
- 37:14Speaker 1: fidos at the canned sideways kaye. And then they keep
- 37:17Speaker 1: talking and Spikey Guy says, what do you think? Shin
- 37:22Speaker 1: just kind of looks at him confused, and Spikey Guy
- 37:24Speaker 1: swallows and says, point two oh eight. That's what the
- 37:27Speaker 1: handler woman said, right. Shin's like, yeah, it would have
- 37:31Speaker 1: been the ideal deployment point if we left at that moment.
- 37:35Speaker 1: Spikey Guy's like, yeah, it's such a teacher's pet answer
- 37:38Speaker 1: that it makes me want to throw up. But she's
- 37:41Speaker 1: not just some spoiled rich kid. We hear someone say
- 37:44Speaker 1: ride in, you're up. Oh cool. We finally get Spikey
- 37:47Speaker 1: Guy's name. His name is Rydin. He says okay, he stands,
- 37:51Speaker 1: and he starts to walk off towards the others, and
- 37:54Speaker 1: then to Shinn says but how long could you keep
- 37:56Speaker 1: it up? We get a low shot of someone walking
- 37:59Speaker 1: over to Shin. The cat gets off his lap and
- 38:02Speaker 1: kind of meows and scurries past the other person, and
- 38:05Speaker 1: we hear someone say, hey, kitty Snowitch. The girl with
- 38:09Speaker 1: the silver hair I think, and the Blue Eyes kneels
- 38:12Speaker 1: down and puts a piece of bread on Chin's tray,
- 38:15Speaker 1: which is sitting on the ground next to him, and
- 38:17Speaker 1: she's like, here you go. Shein's like thanks. The cat
- 38:21Speaker 1: is now trying to get the bread off of the tray,
- 38:23Speaker 1: and we hear someone say onjuw Onju. Who is snow
- 38:26Speaker 1: Witch looks over. It's the tall blonde guy who we
- 38:30Speaker 1: know as black Dog. I guess, and he says, I'll
- 38:33Speaker 1: help you. He's like sweating, and ANDU just holds the
- 38:36Speaker 1: entire tray out for him to take, and black Dog's like,
- 38:40Speaker 1: and Andrew says thanks. Black Dog is like yeah, sure thing.
- 38:45Speaker 1: He takes the tray and walks off, and the cat
- 38:47Speaker 1: is following, ANDU smiles because that was totally intentional to
- 38:51Speaker 1: just give him her task. And black Dog is like,
- 38:55Speaker 1: I'll pass out Onre's cake. Okay, it's cake and not bread.
- 38:59Speaker 1: Everyone's like yeah hey, ANDU, who is sitting down, turns
- 39:03Speaker 1: to Shin and says, is that a good book? Shin
- 39:06Speaker 1: looks down at it and says, when I'm thinking about
- 39:08Speaker 1: something else, it stops me from focusing on it. Uh,
- 39:11Speaker 1: what the book or what are we talking about Andre
- 39:15Speaker 1: just says I see so she gets it. We got
- 39:19Speaker 1: a close up shot of Shin kind of focusing on
- 39:22Speaker 1: his ear, and Aju says, it's always a lot of
- 39:25Speaker 1: stress for you. Huh. We hear someone call Shin. Shin
- 39:29Speaker 1: looks up how Tuto is waving to him from over
- 39:32Speaker 1: a little bit away and says, your turn. Shin's like hmmm.
- 39:36Speaker 1: He starts to take out his gun. He doesn't even stand.
- 39:38Speaker 1: He just shoots three times in rapid succession at the
- 39:41Speaker 1: targets Andju looks shocked, and Shin has like no expression
- 39:45Speaker 1: on his face, but he hits them all down like
- 39:47Speaker 1: it's nothing. Fido makes a bunch of beeps and he's
- 39:50Speaker 1: like waving his arms, and Howto is like, at least
- 39:53Speaker 1: stand up, you're not fun, Andu kind of tries her
- 39:57Speaker 1: best customer service smile face, and at this point Lana
- 40:01Speaker 1: buzzes in. She says, all units, may I have a word?
- 40:05Speaker 1: How Deitoe's like, oh, a new record, a full continuous week.
- 40:08Speaker 1: Shin says, it's fine, good work today, handler one. Some
- 40:12Speaker 1: of the kids kind of look away like, oh fuck her,
- 40:15Speaker 1: and Lena says, yeah, you too. You all seem to
- 40:18Speaker 1: be having a lot of fun. They look pissed. Shin says,
- 40:23Speaker 1: we're just killing time. Don't worry about it. Lena says,
- 40:26Speaker 1: I see, by the way, undertaker, I need to scold
- 40:30Speaker 1: you today. Shin is still looking at his book, by
- 40:33Speaker 1: the way, and he says, what is it. Lena's like,
- 40:37Speaker 1: so I went to read the patrol in combat reports
- 40:41Speaker 1: you filed since your arrival in Spearhead, and they were
- 40:44Speaker 1: all the same. Oh. Shin slightly shifts his position. Why
- 40:49Speaker 1: do you care what happens in the front lines. You
- 40:52Speaker 1: like to waste your time? Huh? I like him a lot.
- 40:57Speaker 1: Lena's like, part of a handler's job is analyzing leaders
- 41:01Speaker 1: tactics and formation tendencies. Shin takes a bite of the cake.
- 41:05Speaker 1: Lena continues, I understand that you don't send these because
- 41:09Speaker 1: we don't read them, but and that's our fault. So
- 41:12Speaker 1: I'm not mad, but from now on, do it properly,
- 41:16Speaker 1: because I'm going to read them. Shin flips to the
- 41:19Speaker 1: next page. I'm not good at reading and writing on
- 41:23Speaker 1: juice size laughing, Fox is like, well, there were no
- 41:27Speaker 1: schools in the camps. Everyone is like struggling to hold
- 41:31Speaker 1: back laughter because obviously, Shin reads very well, and Lena says,
- 41:37Speaker 1: I'm so sorry. The girl with black hair and the ponytail,
- 41:40Speaker 1: who I don't think we have a name for yet,
- 41:42Speaker 1: says it's not so much not good at but more
- 41:46Speaker 1: like too lazy to rate. Undertaker, ride In and some
- 41:50Speaker 1: of the other guys gasp. Shin freezes in the middle
- 41:53Speaker 1: of turning to the next page. The black haired girl
- 41:56Speaker 1: gasps apparently she just totally forgot Lena was listening, and
- 42:01Speaker 1: there's a long pause, and Lena says, Undertaker and Chin's like,
- 42:07Speaker 1: very well, Lena continues, send me one for all of
- 42:11Speaker 1: your missions up to this point as well. That's so
- 42:14Speaker 1: much work. Shin's like, will footage from the gun camera do?
- 42:19Speaker 1: Lena says, no, write them. Oh. Shin slams the book shuts.
- 42:25Speaker 1: The girl with the black hair and the ponytail flinches
- 42:28Speaker 1: and she raises her hands like she's praying, like please
- 42:31Speaker 1: forgive me. Shin kind of like waves her off, like sadly,
- 42:34Speaker 1: and Lena continues, if we analyze them, we can counter them.
- 42:39Speaker 1: Shin like points behind them, and Lena's like, you're an
- 42:43Speaker 1: ease unit, so your records are especially valuable. Shin looks
- 42:47Speaker 1: over and Aldretch is waving him over like towards that hangar.
- 42:52Speaker 1: Lina says, we can lower attrition across the whole battlefield.
- 42:56Speaker 1: Shin size and stands. Lena continues, including your unit, so
- 43:00Speaker 1: help me please ride. In's like so young, Lena says, No,
- 43:06Speaker 1: I'm about the same age as all of you. There's
- 43:09Speaker 1: this collective sigh, and Lena continues, how long has it
- 43:13Speaker 1: been since you joined the military. The girl with the
- 43:16Speaker 1: ponytail's like, we're all in our fourth year. I guess
- 43:20Speaker 1: Righton says, Undertaker's been here the longest. He's in his
- 43:23Speaker 1: fifth year. The girl with the ponytail looks over. Shin's
- 43:26Speaker 1: walking off. The cat is following him. Lena says, so
- 43:31Speaker 1: Undertaker is almost done with his term. Huh huh. Maybe
- 43:34Speaker 1: you have to do a full five years and then
- 43:36Speaker 1: you can leave. Is there something you want to do
- 43:38Speaker 1: when you leave the army and become a republic citizen again?
- 43:41Speaker 1: Somewhere you want to go or see? Shin says, I've
- 43:46Speaker 1: never thought about it. Lina's like, I see, everyone looks
- 43:53Speaker 1: pretty damn solemn. Lena continues, But you might want to
- 43:58Speaker 1: start thinking about it now. You might come up with something.
- 44:01Speaker 1: I'm sure it'll be fun. Shin smiles, you might be right.
- 44:06Speaker 1: Then we see the next episode title card I don't
- 44:09Speaker 1: want to die, and that's it. Yeah, So closing thoughts, Yeah,
- 44:16Speaker 1: that was definitely an interesting episode. So I guess starting
- 44:19Speaker 1: with just the end, it seems like there is a
- 44:22Speaker 1: term of service, and we did see from last episode
- 44:26Speaker 1: Kujo did say like one hundred and whatever days to
- 44:29Speaker 1: l I end my service. There is like a time line,
- 44:33Speaker 1: and maybe that's why these kids are all so young.
- 44:35Speaker 1: Maybe once they get out they go back to society.
- 44:39Speaker 1: But the way they responded and the way Shin responded
- 44:45Speaker 1: to Lena asking him that question about like what do
- 44:48Speaker 1: you want to do when you get out makes me
- 44:50Speaker 1: think that either very few people make it to five years,
- 44:55Speaker 1: which seems likely we've seen a lot of them die
- 44:58Speaker 1: and we know that the Republic doesn't care what happens
- 45:01Speaker 1: to them, or maybe like we don't have the whole story,
- 45:05Speaker 1: so it'll be interesting to see how that progresses. Of course,
- 45:09Speaker 1: Shin is the oldest, which makes sense. I mean, he's
- 45:11Speaker 1: the one who has to help them go, which is
- 45:14Speaker 1: what I don't understand. Like, I mean, I guess he's
- 45:18Speaker 1: mercy killing them, which is fine, but you know they
- 45:23Speaker 1: would be dead eventually anyway. I don't know. I don't
- 45:26Speaker 1: know why Shin has to shoot everyone in the head
- 45:28Speaker 1: or whatever he's doing whatever they consider making them go
- 45:31Speaker 1: like we saw with Kujo, So that'll be interesting. I'm
- 45:35Speaker 1: still trying to figure out why Shin knew before Lena
- 45:40Speaker 1: that there was an incoming legion rate. There's probably something
- 45:44Speaker 1: there that we'll learn about. Also, when he was talking
- 45:48Speaker 1: to Anju and he said that thing about like thinking
- 45:51Speaker 1: about something else stops him from focusing on it, what
- 45:54Speaker 1: is he trying to avoid by reading that book? Maybe
- 45:57Speaker 1: we'll find out. The other thing that I thought was
- 46:00Speaker 1: really interesting was Lena's interaction with that classroom of like
- 46:03Speaker 1: young you know, to be soldiers or whatever they are
- 46:08Speaker 1: the elbas I guess is what their race is called,
- 46:12Speaker 1: because for a second it seemed like she was telling
- 46:16Speaker 1: them something incredibly secrets and they were gonna be like,
- 46:20Speaker 1: oh really, but no, they all fucking know. These eighty six,
- 46:26Speaker 1: the people who are not Alba, who were forced to
- 46:29Speaker 1: live outside this wall that's supposed to be protecting them,
- 46:33Speaker 1: they are so dehumanized that it is okay that they
- 46:38Speaker 1: are fighting and forced to fight and forced to be
- 46:42Speaker 1: in internment camps because they're not people, right, So it's fine.
- 46:48Speaker 1: It's in their fucking textbooks that they're not people. And
- 46:52Speaker 1: I guess we're at a point. The war has been
- 46:54Speaker 1: going on for nine years if I'm remembering that correctly.
- 46:58Speaker 1: This group of young soldiers, they grew up with this,
- 47:03Speaker 1: Like let's say they're like, you know, they're eighteen now,
- 47:06Speaker 1: so this has been happening since they were nine. Yeah,
- 47:10Speaker 1: this dehumanization of these other races has been you know,
- 47:14Speaker 1: drilled into them since they were children, so they really
- 47:19Speaker 1: believe it. And it is much easier to hurt people
- 47:22Speaker 1: when you do not believe that they are really human,
- 47:26Speaker 1: much easier when you do not believe that someone is
- 47:29Speaker 1: like you. So I thought it was a cool reveal
- 47:33Speaker 1: that like they knew, they already knew. There's not some secrets.
- 47:38Speaker 1: Everybody knows what's going on, but they don't matter, so
- 47:43Speaker 1: it's okay. So no one is really dying because they
- 47:47Speaker 1: aren't people, and that's really fucked up. And I'm a
- 47:52Speaker 1: little bit sad now. So one of the good things
- 47:56Speaker 1: about doing like a an anime like eighty six is.
- 48:00Speaker 1: I mean, as people, we really need to be careful
- 48:03Speaker 1: how we treat people who aren't like us. The other
- 48:06Speaker 1: thing that scene in the classroom really told us is
- 48:11Speaker 1: how optimistic and naively optimistic, specifically Lena is. She has
- 48:18Speaker 1: come from a place of privilege, not just because she
- 48:20Speaker 1: is an Alba she is this silver haired, silver eyed person,
- 48:25Speaker 1: but because our family is military and apparently high up
- 48:31Speaker 1: enough in the military that she can just spout these
- 48:33Speaker 1: things that go against their society and not realize that
- 48:39Speaker 1: she's endangering herself or the people around her, like the teacher.
- 48:43Speaker 1: So yeah, she's fucking ignorant, and it'll be interesting to
- 48:48Speaker 1: see if she evolves, if she realizes that even though
- 48:53Speaker 1: she thinks she wants to change this and she wants
- 48:56Speaker 1: to save the eighty six, she's in the military and
- 49:00Speaker 1: she's fucking a little bit complicit, right, So yeah, I'd
- 49:03Speaker 1: like to see we will see how that is handled
- 49:06Speaker 1: going forward. So yeah, I think I'm probably done now.
- 49:11Speaker 1: So thank you for sticking around through this. I don't
- 49:15Speaker 1: have to say, like, I know it was terrible anymore
- 49:18Speaker 1: because we're not doing banana fish, but you know, I
- 49:20Speaker 1: hope that you're enjoying it. So far, we're only two
- 49:23Speaker 1: episodes in, so yeah, that's all I got. Of course,
- 49:27Speaker 1: next week we'll do I Don't Want to Die, which
- 49:31Speaker 1: sounds like it's going to be just the most fun,
- 49:34Speaker 1: uplifting episode yay. So yeah, I hope you have like
- 49:38Speaker 1: a really good whatever, and I will more or less
- 49:42Speaker 1: see you soon later weeps.
