- 0:09Speaker 1: Well, here we go, third hour morning show with Preston Scott.
- 0:14Speaker 1: How are your friends? It's Wednesday, July twenty, fourth show,
- 0:18Speaker 1: five thousand, two hundred and two. Jose, can you see
- 0:23Speaker 1: over there running the radio broadcast in Studio one A.
- 0:27Speaker 1: I am here in Studio one B, and I'm thrilled
- 0:29Speaker 1: to have back with us on the program. Good friend
- 0:31Speaker 1: of the show, he is Heesus Rodriguez, retired US Border
- 0:35Speaker 1: Patrol agent. As always, thanks for your service to our country,
- 0:38Speaker 1: my friend. How are you?
- 0:40Speaker 2: Good morning, Sarah? Doing well in yourself?
- 0:43Speaker 1: Well, I'll tell you I've been anxious to get your
- 0:47Speaker 1: thoughts from your perspective on the events of the last
- 0:51Speaker 1: few weeks. Let's start with what was your reaction? Where
- 0:55Speaker 1: were you when you heard about what was going on
- 0:57Speaker 1: in Pennsylvania in the attempted assassination of Donald Trump.
- 1:01Speaker 2: I was in the yard working on a project and
- 1:03Speaker 2: my daughter came out to tell me that something had happened,
- 1:06Speaker 2: and so we were I walked in the house and
- 1:09Speaker 2: we started looking at, you know, watching the TV, and
- 1:11Speaker 2: I well, something that one of the guys, one of
- 1:13Speaker 2: the agents that sent me on half of social media.
- 1:17Speaker 2: And you can tell that when he turned his head
- 1:19Speaker 2: and also he grabbed his ears like thor and said,
- 1:22Speaker 2: oh smokes, they took a shot at him. And so
- 1:24Speaker 2: you know it went from there shocked, I mean shocked,
- 1:28Speaker 2: and actually to be very honestly pressed and very upset
- 1:32Speaker 2: mad because you know they let that happen.
- 1:36Speaker 1: Define that for me when you say I know what
- 1:38Speaker 1: I think when I say they, what do you think it?
- 1:43Speaker 2: The way? There's always all of these people that have
- 1:47Speaker 2: come out against and and and I keep telling my
- 1:50Speaker 2: wife and you know, I'm going to take this this route.
- 1:55Speaker 2: It's I I truly believe it is. There are evil
- 1:59Speaker 2: people all over and that don't want him in there
- 2:02Speaker 2: for various reasons. And I think it's just the goodness
- 2:09Speaker 2: versus the evil and people, and it's not going to stop.
- 2:12Speaker 2: I don't foresee it stopping it. I think it's just
- 2:15Speaker 2: going to keep ramping up. And if you know, God willing,
- 2:18Speaker 2: he comes out in victorious in November. I think it's
- 2:21Speaker 2: just not it's going to continue. They don't want him
- 2:24Speaker 2: in there.
- 2:25Speaker 1: I was going to ask you if if you were
- 2:28Speaker 1: to guess at the polling, if there was one of
- 2:33Speaker 1: the Border patrol agents that are tasked with keeping people
- 2:37Speaker 1: out of our country that are trying to come in
- 2:39Speaker 1: illegally and bring some kind of order to what is
- 2:42Speaker 1: a very burdensome process. Would you say that the majority
- 2:48Speaker 1: or what percentage would you place on those that would
- 2:53Speaker 1: prefer Donald Trump in office versus those that would prefer
- 2:56Speaker 1: Joe Biden and now Kamala Harrison office.
- 3:00Speaker 2: I'd say probably over seventy five to eighty percent of
- 3:03Speaker 2: the agents are are in supportive of President Trump coming
- 3:06Speaker 2: back in the office. And I mean, it's just it,
- 3:11Speaker 2: you know. You I'm talking to the agents and even
- 3:13Speaker 2: some of the younger agents that are that are coming
- 3:15Speaker 2: in or are barely starting in their career. I've heard
- 3:17Speaker 2: comments saying I didn't sign up for this moment, and
- 3:19Speaker 2: I always saw him. I understand that. But the pegelon
- 3:22Speaker 2: has swung a different and a different direction than what
- 3:25Speaker 2: it was before. But like my journeyman once told me
- 3:28Speaker 2: years ago when I came in, he says, the Pegeant's
- 3:30Speaker 2: going to swing in different directions. But when it swings back,
- 3:33Speaker 2: you know, in a direction that's favorable to us, you goes.
- 3:36Speaker 2: In some instances, it can swing back pretty hard, he goes.
- 3:39Speaker 2: So you know, you got to be ready for these
- 3:41Speaker 2: for these swings like that. He goes, Just do do
- 3:44Speaker 2: what you're supposed to do with the oath that you took,
- 3:47Speaker 2: and do it to the best of your ability. You know,
- 3:49Speaker 2: we can't control politics.
- 3:51Speaker 1: When when I'm gonna I'm going to make a phrase,
- 3:54Speaker 1: I give you a phrase here, and I want to
- 3:56Speaker 1: get your reaction. As a former Board of Patrol agent
- 3:59Speaker 1: and from the perspective of someone who has still got
- 4:03Speaker 1: many friendships and relationships within Border Patrol, Jesus Kamala Harris,
- 4:08Speaker 1: borders are.
- 4:12Speaker 2: Not needed. She never she never showed up at the border,
- 4:17Speaker 2: So what's the point, I mean, what's the point of
- 4:19Speaker 2: putting her in that position? You have to have somebody
- 4:22Speaker 2: that will learn about the border and will take action
- 4:26Speaker 2: on whatever the agents or whatever the higher ups are
- 4:30Speaker 2: are asking for it in order to control the border.
- 4:34Speaker 1: Okay, all right, we've got a lot of issues to
- 4:36Speaker 1: talk about. Hazos stand by. He's kind enough to join
- 4:40Speaker 1: us as we kind of try to understand what's happening
- 4:46Speaker 1: on the southern border. Because in every survey it is one,
- 4:50Speaker 1: two or three. Usually it's one or two as the
- 4:54Speaker 1: most important issue in the upcoming national election. Some subjects
- 4:58Speaker 1: will just make you furious. Don't worry. We're here to
- 5:02Speaker 1: make it all better. There you go, Yes, it's okay.
- 5:06Speaker 2: Yes, This is the.
- 5:08Speaker 1: Morning Show with Preston Scott Levin passed the hour. Hazeus
- 5:15Speaker 1: Rodriguez with US US Border Patrol agent retired our guests,
- 5:19Speaker 1: Jesus no particular order here, but Joe Biden's stepping down.
- 5:25Speaker 1: It's Kamala Harris. What what do you think is is
- 5:29Speaker 1: that impacting numbers at the border right now, the fact
- 5:33Speaker 1: that it it looks as though Trump may come back
- 5:37Speaker 1: into office.
- 5:39Speaker 2: So the numbers are down right now in some parts.
- 5:42Speaker 2: I know in California they're still pretty they're pretty busy
- 5:45Speaker 2: out there. And if you've seen some of the news reports,
- 5:47Speaker 2: there's that huge gap that they have in the in
- 5:50Speaker 2: the border wall out there. So they just all come
- 5:52Speaker 2: into that one area and and just wait for the
- 5:54Speaker 2: Border Patrol to come pick them up there and and
- 5:56Speaker 2: take them to the stations. So the numbers are down,
- 5:59Speaker 2: like and like in Arizona, the numbers are down because
- 6:02Speaker 2: it's the monsoons are here, the rains are here, so
- 6:05Speaker 2: it slows traffic down because a lot of the access
- 6:08Speaker 2: roads that lead to the to Some of these spots
- 6:10Speaker 2: where they're crossing are not passable because of the rains,
- 6:14Speaker 2: But as soon as it drives up, they're gonna it's
- 6:16Speaker 2: gonna start kicking ramping up again. So now now you're
- 6:20Speaker 2: hearing that there's another caravan coming, and that's what I was,
- 6:24Speaker 2: That's what I have been fearing for quite a while
- 6:27Speaker 2: that if the numbers and everything starts to trend in
- 6:30Speaker 2: the direction of forty five, that the numbers are going
- 6:35Speaker 2: to start to increase come fall into winter, and then
- 6:39Speaker 2: if he will become victorious, I think the numbers are
- 6:42Speaker 2: gonna just explode because they're going to try to come
- 6:45Speaker 2: get in before he he takes office. And so with
- 6:50Speaker 2: that present, I fear also that you're going to have
- 6:54Speaker 2: You're gonna you might have that problems where some of
- 6:57Speaker 2: these illegal aliens are gonna take on the age in
- 7:00Speaker 2: order to avoid being apprehended, and you could see some
- 7:03Speaker 2: assaults taking place out in the border as well, because
- 7:06Speaker 2: you know that when if it comes back in that
- 7:09Speaker 2: they're going to go back home and they're not going
- 7:11Speaker 2: to be you know, cut loosen and be allowed to
- 7:14Speaker 2: remain in the country as they are right now.
- 7:16Speaker 1: What do you make of the polling that shows that
- 7:18Speaker 1: the overwhelming majority of Americans believe and support the notion
- 7:24Speaker 1: of mass deportations of people that have illegally broken into
- 7:28Speaker 1: this country.
- 7:29Speaker 2: You know, President, That's been discussed a lot out here,
- 7:33Speaker 2: and I will tell you that it honestly, on paper,
- 7:38Speaker 2: it sounds, it sounds good, But in reality, I don't
- 7:42Speaker 2: know how you're going to be able to pull it
- 7:44Speaker 2: off because you'd have to pull agents from the field
- 7:48Speaker 2: out in the border to to do such a project
- 7:51Speaker 2: like that, are such an enforcement action like that, plus
- 7:54Speaker 2: you know the ICE agents as well, you'd have to
- 7:57Speaker 2: Really there's a lot of logistical nightmares that I could
- 7:59Speaker 2: say of that you know that you would have. And
- 8:02Speaker 2: where do you start, you know, and where does it end?
- 8:04Speaker 2: Because I mean, honestly, personally, I think you can you
- 8:07Speaker 2: can probably close your eyes, put your finger on a
- 8:10Speaker 2: map of the United States and if you were to
- 8:12Speaker 2: look around there, there's probably legal aliens everywhere in this
- 8:16Speaker 2: country now, even though we person we used to get
- 8:19Speaker 2: them out in the desert and some of them were
- 8:21Speaker 2: headed up to Alaska. What does that tell you? And
- 8:23Speaker 2: this was years ago? Can only imagine what.
- 8:26Speaker 1: If you took the approach of your leaving the personnel
- 8:30Speaker 1: on the border, but you're going to just let kind
- 8:32Speaker 1: of the internal apparatus. You're gonna you're going to follow
- 8:35Speaker 1: through on the policies that are supposed to exist. Where
- 8:38Speaker 1: there are detainers on people. When someone's arrested and we
- 8:41Speaker 1: know that they're illegally in this country, Okay, that's you're
- 8:45Speaker 1: starting to load up the train and the plane and
- 8:47Speaker 1: the vehicles with those people. What if you just took
- 8:50Speaker 1: a more pragmatic approach to the deportation issue.
- 8:54Speaker 2: Oh yeah, that's that's that's always that was always something
- 8:57Speaker 2: that they would do. They would have a UNI in
- 9:00Speaker 2: the stations called warcap Okay, and so they would go
- 9:03Speaker 2: to the jails and interview people and they were if
- 9:06Speaker 2: they determined they were legal aliens, they would put a
- 9:09Speaker 2: detainer on them. So when they were going to get released,
- 9:12Speaker 2: that agency would call the station or the stations and
- 9:15Speaker 2: then they would go pick them up and then start
- 9:16Speaker 2: the deportation process. And in some instances, in some areas,
- 9:20Speaker 2: you still have local law enforcement that call the Verbtrol
- 9:25Speaker 2: and they respond and then they determine their their ali
- 9:27Speaker 2: image and then they go from there. If they're legal,
- 9:29Speaker 2: they take them into Coustee unless the county or the
- 9:32Speaker 2: state's going to take them into custy for whatever, you know, crime,
- 9:35Speaker 2: And then of course you again you put a detain
- 9:37Speaker 2: on them and hold them until they turn them over
- 9:40Speaker 2: to you to the agency w.
- 9:41Speaker 1: FLA at w FLA, FBM dot com, on your phone
- 9:45Speaker 1: with the iHeartRadio app and on hundreds of devices like Alexa,
- 9:48Speaker 1: Google Home, Xbox, and Sono Santiheart's radio station twenty one
- 9:56Speaker 1: minutes past the hour, Heyeseus Rodriguez, US Border Patrol agent
- 9:59Speaker 1: retired Mike guests he joined us multiple times a year
- 10:03Speaker 1: here on the program. And certainly the southern border is
- 10:07Speaker 1: a huge issue. Do you agree azeus that it's you know, one, two,
- 10:11Speaker 1: or three on everyone's list of most important.
- 10:14Speaker 2: I'd say so. I mean, it has to be up
- 10:17Speaker 2: there because of all the previous activity that's been happening
- 10:21Speaker 2: down there. I mean, in all the high numbers that
- 10:25Speaker 2: the agency was seeing, plus the number of godaways, I
- 10:29Speaker 2: mean that they're just taking a they're taking a stab
- 10:31Speaker 2: at at the possible number of god aways, and it's
- 10:34Speaker 2: probably a lot higher than what they've put out.
- 10:37Speaker 1: And that's kind of where I wanted to go here,
- 10:39Speaker 1: because you know, one of the things that has been
- 10:41Speaker 1: noted is literally nearly two hundred nations worth of people
- 10:48Speaker 1: in the sense of different nations represented crossing our borders
- 10:52Speaker 1: illegally but notably. We've got Islamic extremists, We've got Chinese nationals,
- 10:57Speaker 1: and we know that almost weekly now China, these nationals
- 11:00Speaker 1: are trying to get their way on the US military basis,
- 11:04Speaker 1: and so I'm curious, is there ever any level of profiling.
- 11:09Speaker 2: I would assume that with the intel that the agency
- 11:13Speaker 2: now has with overseas, there probably already have an idea
- 11:17Speaker 2: of the type of person the persons that are coming
- 11:21Speaker 2: up towards the border, whether it's Chinese nationals or or
- 11:24Speaker 2: from other countries. So it's it's kind of amazing that
- 11:28Speaker 2: you have so many. I was shocked even in some
- 11:31Speaker 2: of the numbers that some of the agents are telling
- 11:33Speaker 2: me that they were they were getting from China and
- 11:35Speaker 2: from some of these other countries. I mean countries that
- 11:37Speaker 2: you that you have to look up on the map
- 11:39Speaker 2: to see where they're where they were coming from. It's like, wow,
- 11:42Speaker 2: it's amazing. And then I never in my career I
- 11:46Speaker 2: had never seen that type of activity like that.
- 11:50Speaker 1: You know, it's one thing for people to come across
- 11:53Speaker 1: that are, you know, from Central or South America. I
- 11:57Speaker 1: mean it's sort of like okay, you can see the path,
- 12:00Speaker 1: but I immediately am suspicious of people that are coming
- 12:04Speaker 1: from the Middle East and from China because I'm thinking
- 12:06Speaker 1: to myself, how do you even afford the journey?
- 12:09Speaker 2: Well, it's that's mudgeling organization pressing that you know I've
- 12:13Speaker 2: discussed before. You have a smuggling organization that is like
- 12:17Speaker 2: an octopus. There's tentacles everywhere, so there are people that
- 12:20Speaker 2: that will and and on top of that, you have
- 12:23Speaker 2: these NGOs that exist in other countries that will kind
- 12:26Speaker 2: of help people to get from you know, from point
- 12:29Speaker 2: to point B all the way up to the border area.
- 12:31Speaker 2: So you know, it's all it's there. It's a very
- 12:34Speaker 2: very sophisticated and a well funded and probably the logistical
- 12:39Speaker 2: uh NGOs or other groups that help facilitate all these
- 12:45Speaker 2: people that are coming up. And then of course the
- 12:47Speaker 2: cartails are heavily involved in it because they're making money
- 12:50Speaker 2: hand over fist, so they're you know, they know the
- 12:52Speaker 2: logistical how to get people from you know, these places
- 12:55Speaker 2: all the way up to the border and across. I
- 12:57Speaker 2: was just going to ask you that they're coaching them
- 12:59Speaker 2: too as they cross. What to say, what not to say?
- 13:02Speaker 2: You know, all of these things that the agents will
- 13:05Speaker 2: tell me that they would find multiple SIM cards all
- 13:08Speaker 2: over the border because they would pull it out of
- 13:10Speaker 2: the out of their cell phones before they cross, so
- 13:13Speaker 2: the agents or the intel agents couldn't access it to
- 13:16Speaker 2: look to see who they were in communications with or
- 13:18Speaker 2: what they had.
- 13:20Speaker 1: Wow, I was just going to ask you, is there
- 13:23Speaker 1: any has there been any change in the cartel activity
- 13:28Speaker 1: since we've had this attempt at assassination or with Biden
- 13:33Speaker 1: stepping down or is it too soon to tell?
- 13:35Speaker 2: You shouldn't tell right now. I think it's gonna like
- 13:40Speaker 2: I said, you'll see You'll see it. If the numbers
- 13:42Speaker 2: start to ramp up in in uh in forty five
- 13:46Speaker 2: directions and they start to really you know, take a
- 13:50Speaker 2: take go up in numbers and people supporting him for
- 13:54Speaker 2: return of the presidency, I think he's going to start
- 13:57Speaker 2: to see a lot more of that activity on the
- 13:59Speaker 2: border account.
- 14:00Speaker 1: Do we still have more agents leaving than those that
- 14:04Speaker 1: are interested in serving?
- 14:07Speaker 2: I'd say that you do have quite a bit of
- 14:10Speaker 2: agents leavings because they're frustrated with the job. Guys that
- 14:13Speaker 2: and girls that probably wouldn't have retired, but are as
- 14:17Speaker 2: soon as they hit that that point where they can retire,
- 14:20Speaker 2: they're walking out. And and the other thing to Preston
- 14:22Speaker 2: were losing them to two different agencies, you know, these
- 14:25Speaker 2: different other federal agencies, and so you know, they they
- 14:29Speaker 2: they're frustrated with what's happening and what's what's still happening,
- 14:32Speaker 2: so they're they're looking elsewhere.
- 14:35Speaker 1: Yeah, but really, do we want to go work for
- 14:37Speaker 1: the federal government somewhere else? At least for now?
- 14:43Speaker 2: I know, I know. And then and it's sad because
- 14:46Speaker 2: you know, in my career we've run into agents that
- 14:49Speaker 2: you know, either that that I knew or that had
- 14:53Speaker 2: were agents in the past. And the one thing they
- 14:55Speaker 2: always say is that, man, I wish I could be
- 14:57Speaker 2: back out in the field. I really miss being out
- 14:59Speaker 2: in the field. And you left to these agencies. Why
- 15:01Speaker 2: did you leave? You know, you should have stayed out.
- 15:03Speaker 2: You know, you should have wrote it out.
- 15:04Speaker 1: But well, let me ask you this, if if if
- 15:08Speaker 1: Donald Trump is returned to office, do you expect there
- 15:12Speaker 1: to be a surge in those that are willing to
- 15:16Speaker 1: serve on the border.
- 15:20Speaker 2: I would hope so, Preston and and I'm I'm banking
- 15:25Speaker 2: not that the recruitment recruiters are doing a good job
- 15:27Speaker 2: of doing that outreach, which they are, I would hope so.
- 15:31Speaker 2: But it's got it's not going to be an overnight.
- 15:33Speaker 2: It's gonna take am It's gonna take a while before
- 15:35Speaker 2: you can start to see that those numbers of every
- 15:38Speaker 2: increase of agents. But don't forget, you know, you have
- 15:41Speaker 2: your local agencies and some of these local agencies and
- 15:44Speaker 2: even county agents that are offering a lot of money
- 15:46Speaker 2: too to these people, you know, to the same applicants.
- 15:48Speaker 2: So you you know, they are an applicant now in
- 15:50Speaker 2: today's in today's world for law enforcement, they can pick
- 15:53Speaker 2: and choose where they want to go because there there's
- 15:55Speaker 2: there's there's money being thrown around signing bonuses. All right.
- 16:00Speaker 1: It is always it's great visiting with you. My best
- 16:02Speaker 1: to you and your family is Zeus and thanks for
- 16:04Speaker 1: the time, Thank you, sir. Kick care Hey Zeus Rodriguez.
- 16:08Speaker 1: I'll point out up at five am before five am
- 16:11Speaker 1: local time in Arizona to join us live here on
- 16:15Speaker 1: the Morning Show with Preston Scott, twenty seven minutes past
- 16:18Speaker 1: the hour.
