- 1:07Speaker 2: Welcome to Patriots Unfiltered.
- 1:11Speaker 4: That was some game that we saw. They almost pulled
- 1:14Speaker 4: that out, and I.
- 1:15Speaker 5: Think you will like it too, because there's a lot
- 1:17Speaker 5: of really unnecessary shots at me.
- 1:20Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean, I think it's not totally unnecessary, but
- 1:22Speaker 6: this is.
- 1:22Speaker 4: One of the rare press boxes where we were in
- 1:25Speaker 4: the front row, like against the glass.
- 1:27Speaker 7: Kind of apart from the external media too.
- 1:31Speaker 4: Yeah, they decided to keep Evan away from the rest
- 1:33Speaker 4: of the media. That checks out.
- 1:35Speaker 7: I'm not one hundred percent sure that everybody knew it
- 1:37Speaker 7: was a screen.
- 1:39Speaker 5: I love when Evan has those little stories about film
- 1:41Speaker 5: study like that.
- 1:43Speaker 4: It makes me I don't feel bad that.
- 1:45Speaker 8: It just makes me mad at the rest of the
- 1:47Speaker 8: team for not stepping up and helping him a little
- 1:48Speaker 8: more of it.
- 1:49Speaker 5: Sorry, That's why I said, Mike's not wrong to not
- 1:52Speaker 5: have He's.
- 1:52Speaker 4: Not gonna lose his blog of emeritus bad.
- 1:55Speaker 7: I don't necessarily have faith. I just have no choice.
- 1:58Speaker 5: Like three guys on the tea box and I have
- 1:59Speaker 5: like a PVD baseball show and Oh Peeby. We used
- 2:03Speaker 5: to coach UMass Roll football. We had a great kid
- 2:07Speaker 5: from Heavy John Shanna, I go great center put it
- 2:10Speaker 5: right there every time he started laughing.
- 2:13Speaker 2: Speaking of rare ends, this is Patriots Unfiltered.

- 2:22Speaker 4: All right, welcome to Patriots Unfiltered. Is Wednesday here at
- 2:27Speaker 4: Jillette Stadium. We're getting ready for the Chicago Bears. Gerard
- 2:32Speaker 4: Mayo had his Wednesday press conference where he turns the
- 2:34Speaker 4: page to the opponent, changes the page and you know,
- 2:38Speaker 4: no surprise. But he was very complimentary about Caleb Williams
- 2:45Speaker 4: and his ability to extend plays and his athletic ability
- 2:49Speaker 4: and all that, and said it'll be quite a challenge
- 2:51Speaker 4: for them. And I'm sure it will.
- 2:53Speaker 5: Be absolutely a lot of different things. Chicago has this
- 2:57Speaker 5: this is Wednesday's our data turn the page too. However,
- 3:02Speaker 5: that's on the field. Off the field, I think Chicago's
- 3:04Speaker 5: a little bit of a mess. Yeah, yeah, that that
- 3:07Speaker 5: Hail Mary has left a mark.
- 3:09Speaker 4: Really.
- 3:09Speaker 5: I think there's questions about the coach, Ibra Flus. I
- 3:13Speaker 5: think is in some trouble, didn't get seemingly a lot
- 3:16Speaker 5: of support from his players. This could be something to
- 3:18Speaker 5: keep an eye on.
- 3:19Speaker 4: Huh. Okay, yeah, I know that one of your shows
- 3:22Speaker 4: they were talking about is Ebra Flues on the Hot Seat.
- 3:25Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, as you say, the Zoe and the Beatle, Yeah,
- 3:28Speaker 5: talking about it right now. But yeah, I think DJ
- 3:31Speaker 5: Moore is a guy who's, you know, it's been a
- 3:33Speaker 5: really good veteran player. You know, his effort has been
- 3:37Speaker 5: called into question a little bit. He went out of
- 3:39Speaker 5: bounds on an early scramble by by Williams in the
- 3:42Speaker 5: game against Arizona.
- 3:44Speaker 4: He's been somewhat critical of of well, not not necessarily critical,
- 3:49Speaker 4: but not really backing his coachy.
- 3:52Speaker 5: You know. It's sort of like sometimes it's what you
- 3:54Speaker 5: don't say, yeah, that tells you a story. So Yeah,
- 3:59Speaker 5: they're a little bit of a crossroads. I think, you know,
- 4:02Speaker 5: they have some talent offensively. I don't think that's overstated.
- 4:05Speaker 5: I think Williams has a lot of ability. You know that.
- 4:08Speaker 5: I like him more than probably most, but he's been
- 4:12Speaker 5: a little erratic and he has good weapons to use.
- 4:14Speaker 5: And that's the difference between right now him and May.
- 4:18Speaker 5: I think that both of them has some questions with
- 4:21Speaker 5: you know, the coaching that they're getting. Shane Waldron got
- 4:25Speaker 5: there as the offensive coordinator. He's been under fire a
- 4:28Speaker 5: little bit too. The offensive line is a mess. They
- 4:31Speaker 5: get a lot of pass protection breakdown, just like Drake May.
- 4:35Speaker 5: The difference is they have three three you know, Dj Moore,
- 4:42Speaker 5: Keenan Allen, the rookie, Roma Dunze at wide receiver, Cole
- 4:46Speaker 5: Comet at tight end, and DeAndre Swift at running back.
- 4:48Speaker 5: So I would say that core of offensive options is
- 4:52Speaker 5: better than the Patriots.
- 4:53Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 4:54Speaker 5: So that's where I think Drake May is a little
- 4:56Speaker 5: bit of a disadvantage. And Drake May has played better
- 4:58Speaker 5: with less.
- 4:59Speaker 4: And he's had a few more extra games. Yeah, you know, Yeah,
- 5:03Speaker 4: so I would say on paper, their offense looks a
- 5:06Speaker 4: little bit better than the Patriots offense. But as we know,
- 5:10Speaker 4: the offenses don't play against each other, you know, so
- 5:13Speaker 4: how do you think we match up defensively against them?
- 5:16Speaker 5: Or I would worry about Swift? Yeah, you know, and
- 5:19Speaker 5: just not trying to like split the atom here, just
- 5:21Speaker 5: based off of what the problems have been over the
- 5:23Speaker 5: last say, six or eight game games. Swift has been
- 5:27Speaker 5: as productive as any running back in the league over
- 5:29Speaker 5: the last month or so, both as a pass catcher
- 5:33Speaker 5: in a runner. And the Patriots are we talked about
- 5:36Speaker 5: it yesterday, of about one hundred and sixty or more
- 5:38Speaker 5: yards on the ground in for the last five games,
- 5:41Speaker 5: So that to me is a major concern.
- 5:43Speaker 4: It seems to not get better as the game goes by,
- 5:47Speaker 4: almost sometimes gets worse. So that's something that we'll have
- 5:50Speaker 4: to look at. Is will the Patriots be able to
- 5:53Speaker 4: stop the run? And on the other side, establishing the
- 5:57Speaker 4: run has been non existed as well.
- 5:59Speaker 5: Yeah, and now that's an area of Chicago struggles. Yeah,
- 6:02Speaker 5: you know, their defense is pretty good, but their run
- 6:04Speaker 5: defense hasn't been very good. They're down in the lower
- 6:09Speaker 5: five anyway. I think they were twenty eighth against the run,
- 6:13Speaker 5: So maybe this is a week that you can turn
- 6:15Speaker 5: it around a little bit with Formadre Stevenson.
- 6:17Speaker 4: Yep okay, and then trade deadline is over, Patriots made
- 6:23Speaker 4: some kind of roster moves, more less trades, but more
- 6:28Speaker 4: more kind of roster moves.
- 6:29Speaker 5: Well, they they sent out one of those linemen, uh
- 6:32Speaker 5: that they picked up on waivers, Zach Thomas, one of
- 6:35Speaker 5: the guys, one of the four that they claimed on
- 6:38Speaker 5: the eve of the regular season. They let him go
- 6:41Speaker 5: yesterday and they brought in and now I don't have
- 6:44Speaker 5: the name in front of me, the gentleman's name that
- 6:46Speaker 5: they brought in, but he's an interior. The guy that
- 6:50Speaker 5: they just signed is an interior lineman. So they're still
- 6:54Speaker 5: searching in there to Freddy you know, you know, we
- 6:57Speaker 5: know it's been you know, a when who in and out.
- 7:00Speaker 5: It's been Michael Jordan left left guard, Leyden Robinson sort
- 7:05Speaker 5: of struggling a little bit at right guard. City so
- 7:07Speaker 5: had had some snaps at left guard. He's been in
- 7:10Speaker 5: and out. They're still looking for answers there. And I
- 7:14Speaker 5: think that's where the latest edition is a is.
- 7:17Speaker 4: A guard Monty Rice. They signed linebacker. Yeah, that's They
- 7:22Speaker 4: released Zach Thomas and they signed enter Brian Hudson.
- 7:27Speaker 5: No, I think they released him off the practice squad.
- 7:29Speaker 4: Did they not release them? Yeah, that's it. Yeah, so
- 7:32Speaker 4: they only signed Monty.
- 7:33Speaker 5: Is another guy that they signed the day before. That's
- 7:35Speaker 5: not all the day before. Maybe it's not official official yet, okay,
- 7:40Speaker 5: and that's why we didn't get a release on it.
- 7:42Speaker 4: But that could be.
- 7:43Speaker 5: But the Twitter machine had them signing a guy two
- 7:47Speaker 5: days ago. I can't remember his name, Okay, I apologize.
- 7:51Speaker 5: When Mike gets here, he'll he'll fill you in with
- 7:53Speaker 5: the details.
- 7:54Speaker 4: Sure, but it's not that consequential for this game coming up.
- 7:59Speaker 5: No, he's a guy they signed off for someone else.
- 8:02Speaker 5: It's another guy they signed off for someone's practice squad,
- 8:04Speaker 5: I believe.
- 8:04Speaker 4: So what do you what do you think they'll go
- 8:06Speaker 4: with in terms of the offensive line this game? You
- 8:09Speaker 4: know where they go back to where they were two
- 8:11Speaker 4: games ago?
- 8:13Speaker 5: So do you stick with Michael Jordan or do you
- 8:15Speaker 5: give City so another opportunity?
- 8:16Speaker 9: Right?
- 8:18Speaker 5: I think that all those things, I would definitely have
- 8:22Speaker 5: Trey Jacobs at right tackle and Michael Winnu that I
- 8:26Speaker 5: that I feel pretty you know, I feel pretty strongly
- 8:30Speaker 5: about that because I think a win who was a
- 8:31Speaker 5: better guard than tackled. He struggled at both, but he's
- 8:34Speaker 5: a better guard than tackle the other. The other guard,
- 8:38Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 8:39Speaker 4: Except for grabs and then Ben Brown sticks at center.
- 8:43Speaker 5: So yeah, I mean I think that that's the way
- 8:46Speaker 5: it shapes up right now. And then you got a
- 8:50Speaker 5: hope Badarian Lowe is physically up for it to stay
- 8:53Speaker 5: at left tackle.
- 8:54Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 8:55Speaker 5: Yeah, but there's no like, it's not like they have
- 8:59Speaker 5: five guys that you look, if they could just get
- 9:00Speaker 5: these five out on the floor, out on the floor
- 9:03Speaker 5: on the field, we're gonna be okay. I don't think
- 9:06Speaker 5: they have that. I don't think they have that kind
- 9:08Speaker 5: of a situation.
- 9:10Speaker 4: All right. Well eight five five Pats five hundred is
- 9:13Speaker 4: the tp X hotline podcast at Patriots dot com. Is
- 9:16Speaker 4: the email address I shouted out yesterday. If you want
- 9:20Speaker 4: to be included in the distribution list for the new
- 9:23Speaker 4: PU newsletter, all you have to do is email the
- 9:26Speaker 4: show and we'll automatically get you on the list again
- 9:29Speaker 4: podcasts at Patriots dot com. We had a number of
- 9:32Speaker 4: people take me up on that offer yesterday. Nice, So
- 9:36Speaker 4: you'll be uh added to the list and you'll be
- 9:39Speaker 4: getting the newsletter we're going to do that every week.
- 9:41Speaker 4: Alex is in charge of putting it together.
- 9:45Speaker 5: So she does a fine job when she's not butchering
- 9:47Speaker 5: me shoddy journalistic practice.
- 9:50Speaker 4: That's all right. Yeah, so, uh, you know, it'll be
- 9:53Speaker 4: more of a fun thing. Not it's not a newsy thing.
- 9:56Speaker 4: It's not like, oh, this is what happened. It's more
- 9:58Speaker 4: about the show, about us, about the callers and in
- 10:02Speaker 4: that type of thing.
- 10:03Speaker 5: Yeah, just just some good clean fun, just fun because
- 10:07Speaker 5: it's just fun, just a fun fact, just the PU.
- 10:09Speaker 4: Community, you know. So I like it? All right? What else?
- 10:13Speaker 4: Anything else? So anything we need to talk about before we.
- 10:18Speaker 5: Just I'm trying to remember everything. So we heard from Hunter, Henry,
- 10:22Speaker 5: Drake May, and Dietrich Wise. I did not hear from
- 10:24Speaker 5: Why because I left to make sure I was at
- 10:26Speaker 5: the show on time. I just I come away and
- 10:29Speaker 5: I walked in and I said to you, I just
- 10:31Speaker 5: really like Drake May a lot, like just I like
- 10:34Speaker 5: I like his sort of aura, Like I like the
- 10:38Speaker 5: way he presents himself. It just seems like and I
- 10:42Speaker 5: know this sounds like patronizing, but I just feel like
- 10:44Speaker 5: he's a good kid and they are kids, dos I
- 10:47Speaker 5: mean let's face it. Yeah, they're a lot younger than us,
- 10:51Speaker 5: so they're just kids. I mean, he's only a couple
- 10:53Speaker 5: of years older than my oldest son. So I just
- 10:57Speaker 5: feel like he clearly came from a good family with
- 11:01Speaker 5: good values, and he comes across that way. And I
- 11:04Speaker 5: know that sounds like really corny and who cares can
- 11:07Speaker 5: he play? You know? I think there's a lot of
- 11:10Speaker 5: guys in the league that came from a good background,
- 11:12Speaker 5: and you know, I you know, Caleb Williams is really
- 11:15Speaker 5: tight with his dad, right, That's that was supposedly one
- 11:17Speaker 5: of the problems. His father was too involved, right you know,
- 11:20Speaker 5: Like doesn't mean that either one of these guys are
- 11:22Speaker 5: going to be successful and be able to play. But
- 11:24Speaker 5: I just I kind of like the way that Drake
- 11:26Speaker 5: May presents himself.
- 11:27Speaker 4: Well, you know, one of the stories that Drake May
- 11:30Speaker 4: when he was drafted is his family and the fact
- 11:32Speaker 4: that he had all those brothers, similar to you know, Gronk,
- 11:36Speaker 4: and when you have all those brothers, you can't help
- 11:39Speaker 4: but be competitive.
- 11:40Speaker 5: Yeah, you know, and heaving Mason Rudolph. I think we
- 11:42Speaker 5: said this yesterday, but like having him say because I
- 11:45Speaker 5: don't know if people realize they talked about this during
- 11:47Speaker 5: the broadcast, that there's a connection there. He was very
- 11:50Speaker 5: good friends with Drake's older brother, I think Luke when
- 11:55Speaker 5: they were growing up, So Mason, Rudolph and Drake may
- 11:58Speaker 5: have known each other for a long time, even though
- 12:00Speaker 5: Rudolph is older. But Mason Ruodolf said, you know, it
- 12:05Speaker 5: was pretty clear that Drake was the best athlete of
- 12:08Speaker 5: the family. And to me, that spoke volumes that's a
- 12:11Speaker 5: very athletic family that's been very successful at high levels
- 12:15Speaker 5: in different sports, basketball and baseball. Yeah, so to have
- 12:19Speaker 5: a guy from the outside say, oh, yeah, that's a
- 12:23Speaker 5: good family, that's a lot of good athletes, but this
- 12:25Speaker 5: guy was the best athlete. Yeah, pretty impressive.
- 12:27Speaker 4: Well we're starting to see that, yeah, I mean we're
- 12:29Speaker 4: starting to see his mobility and the way he just
- 12:32Speaker 4: you know, scoots around the field there. You know.
- 12:35Speaker 5: It's yeah, you know, and you know, Henry talked a
- 12:40Speaker 5: little bit about you know, that play at the end,
- 12:43Speaker 5: and he was like sort of very critical of himself,
- 12:45Speaker 5: which I liked, Yeah, because he's like, you got bounced
- 12:48Speaker 5: back and can't get knocked out bounced there, it's not
- 12:51Speaker 5: a good play, he said. I know, people have been
- 12:53Speaker 5: trying to give me credit for being heads up. It's
- 12:55Speaker 5: not a good play, but you know what had happened.
- 12:59Speaker 5: I think that he's also being a good teammate there,
- 13:01Speaker 5: because then moments later you hear from May and May says, yeah,
- 13:05Speaker 5: I kind of think I had him right away on
- 13:07Speaker 5: that play on the initial you know, I wouldn't have
- 13:10Speaker 5: had to go through all that to have to score.
- 13:13Speaker 5: He probably missed him on an initial read. So I
- 13:17Speaker 5: kind of liked the way that they talked about themselves
- 13:19Speaker 5: rather than they were critical of themselves, rather.
- 13:22Speaker 4: Than sure they went over that tape already. Oh yeah,
- 13:25Speaker 4: and they pointed it out. So but again, we talked
- 13:29Speaker 4: about it yesterday. This is why we all pushed for
- 13:33Speaker 4: May to play, so that he could have experienced these
- 13:37Speaker 4: scenarios and learn from them.
- 13:39Speaker 5: And it's exactly right. It's like a it's riding on
- 13:43Speaker 5: a curve. Like the game that he played the other day.
- 13:45Speaker 5: I think you could make a strong argument that there
- 13:47Speaker 5: was a lot of good stuff in Yeah, if the
- 13:50Speaker 5: same game gets played two years from now, I'm not
- 13:53Speaker 5: going to talk about the good stuff. I'm going to
- 13:55Speaker 5: talk about the bad stuff, right because after you know,
- 13:58Speaker 5: twenty five thirty starts. Those kinds of things shouldn't be
- 14:01Speaker 5: happening anymore. You learn now, you learn.
- 14:03Speaker 4: You try not to repeat your errors. So so so
- 14:06Speaker 4: it's all good there, It's all good, baby. But you know,
- 14:10Speaker 4: Patriot's Nation is very nervous right now.
- 14:13Speaker 5: Why is Patriot Nation nervous?
- 14:14Speaker 4: They're nervous because the team seems to have taken a
- 14:19Speaker 4: step backwards, not just from where they were last year,
- 14:23Speaker 4: but from that where they were at the beginning of
- 14:25Speaker 4: the season. And they're nervous because they're not quite confident
- 14:30Speaker 4: that they have the people in the front office to
- 14:33Speaker 4: do the job of rebuilding this team.
- 14:36Speaker 5: Okay, I think the last part of that is a
- 14:41Speaker 5: fair concern, like do we have to do we pick
- 14:45Speaker 5: the right guys? And you don't know, I mean, even
- 14:47Speaker 5: if you're fully confident that they did, you don't know
- 14:50Speaker 5: that Mayo and Wolf is going to be the combination
- 14:53Speaker 5: that works. So I get that. Do you think that
- 14:55Speaker 5: they've taken a step back from last year?
- 14:57Speaker 4: From last year? I do on defense, and I know,
- 15:03Speaker 4: like a lot a lot of last year's defensive stats
- 15:05Speaker 4: were yeah, a little bit down, but from a depth standpoint,
- 15:11Speaker 4: game to game they were in better shape last year.
- 15:14Speaker 4: And you know, not again not to make excuses, but
- 15:17Speaker 4: it is what it is. They're under manned. They don't
- 15:20Speaker 4: have the horses on defense. They just don't.
- 15:26Speaker 5: See. Like I said, I'm not going to bog the
- 15:28Speaker 5: show down by telling you that I don't think this.
- 15:30Speaker 5: I don't think it's much different. I really don't like.
- 15:35Speaker 5: They played large you know, the last what thirteen games
- 15:38Speaker 5: last year without judaon and Gonzales I know, you know,
- 15:42Speaker 5: without Marcus Jones, but with a lot of guys that
- 15:44Speaker 5: weren't there last year either. Now, the big difference this year.
- 15:47Speaker 4: Is is bar more but and Bentley.
- 15:50Speaker 5: Yeah, but I'm talking about like the real standout players.
- 15:56Speaker 5: You have Gonzales in, Marcus Jones now in your secondary
- 15:59Speaker 5: and it's not really any better.
- 16:01Speaker 4: But you know, they just, you know, just they except
- 16:06Speaker 4: for in the early in the season when they were
- 16:08Speaker 4: getting blown out for a couple of games, they were
- 16:10Speaker 4: able to keep the score down, you know, and they
- 16:13Speaker 4: finished in the top of the you know, last year
- 16:16Speaker 4: they finished in the top of the league, you know,
- 16:18Speaker 4: in points allowed, and you know, it is what it is.
- 16:21Speaker 5: Well, what's the top of the league, eleventh, It's a
- 16:24Speaker 5: lot better than you know. Yeah, I mean I just
- 16:27Speaker 5: feel like, like I said, I don't want to what
- 16:31Speaker 5: they're saying. I just feel like people have not used
- 16:34Speaker 5: any nuance when talking about the numbers, like saying that
- 16:38Speaker 5: they lost ten to seven to the Giants with Tommy
- 16:40Speaker 5: DeVito playing quarterback, Like you're not really telling the whole story. No,
- 16:46Speaker 5: but do you know what I mean? Like, well, just
- 16:47Speaker 5: it only allowed ten points? No, but but I mean
- 16:49Speaker 5: Gardner minshew, they only allowed ten like you didn't see, Like, No,
- 16:53Speaker 5: the run defense of the run defense is absolutely valid.
- 16:57Speaker 5: Step back, that's.
- 16:58Speaker 4: Valid, you know. So I look at things like that
- 17:01Speaker 4: and it worries me. But again, you have to be
- 17:04Speaker 4: fair and say, okay, would they be better with Bentley
- 17:07Speaker 4: and Barmer in there?
- 17:07Speaker 5: Probably because I would also say.
- 17:10Speaker 4: Lawrence guy isn't there anymore? You know match you know,
- 17:13Speaker 4: well judn wasn't really there last year either, but they're
- 17:17Speaker 4: just under manned.
- 17:18Speaker 5: Yeah, I would say that it's it's absolutely fair to
- 17:21Speaker 5: say it's a step back the run defense. I also
- 17:23Speaker 5: think the nuance counts there too. You know. Again, I'll
- 17:26Speaker 5: go back to the Giants game. So they play the Giants,
- 17:29Speaker 5: and what's the main weapon on the Giants last year,
- 17:32Speaker 5: Saquon Barkley. Well, I can shut him down because I
- 17:36Speaker 5: have no fear of Tommy DeVito. Now here's where I'll
- 17:40Speaker 5: be fair about it. Yes, there is nuance, and they
- 17:42Speaker 5: might be said, I don't think this team right now
- 17:45Speaker 5: would shut down Saquon Barkley with a backup, with a starter, whatever,
- 17:49Speaker 5: because they haven't really been able to do that. So
- 17:51Speaker 5: that's fair to say that they've taken a step back.
- 17:53Speaker 5: I would say in run defense, I think that there
- 17:59Speaker 5: was a line of thought that this defense will keep
- 18:03Speaker 5: you in every game, and I think that was wishful thinking.
- 18:08Speaker 4: And the other thing I think people are just you know,
- 18:12Speaker 4: just annoyed with is other than may this draft is
- 18:16Speaker 4: not producing any contributors, starting with Polk, who I thought
- 18:22Speaker 4: was you know, a pretty much of a shut thing
- 18:24Speaker 4: at least to be an adequate you know receiver.
- 18:29Speaker 5: Yeah, there was a lot of questions about that. Today,
- 18:33Speaker 5: you know, they have seven wide receivers on the active roster,
- 18:35Speaker 5: which is high, particularly when you're not really getting a
- 18:38Speaker 5: tremendous amount of production from them. And then Polk in particular,
- 18:42Speaker 5: and you know, I thought Mayo talked about that a
- 18:46Speaker 5: little bit. He used the same anecdote that he's using
- 18:48Speaker 5: the past about you know how sometimes rookies can struggle,
- 18:51Speaker 5: and he got benched on third downs early in his
- 18:54Speaker 5: you know, early in his career in a game in
- 18:55Speaker 5: San Francisco, and he felt like he had a pretty
- 18:58Speaker 5: good rookie year. He mentions, you know, I ended up
- 19:01Speaker 5: being a Rookie of the Year that year and he
- 19:04Speaker 5: went through it. So I think, I think, if you're
- 19:07Speaker 5: a Patriots fan, that's got to be your hope that
- 19:09Speaker 5: this is just part of the growing process and maturation
- 19:13Speaker 5: for Jalen Polk, and this isn't the end. I've been like,
- 19:17Speaker 5: you guys know that I was not overly all aboard
- 19:20Speaker 5: the who Who Jalen Polk train, But that doesn't mean
- 19:23Speaker 5: I'm saying like, let's, you know, closed the book on
- 19:27Speaker 5: Jalen Polk. He's a bust. He's done. No, it's only
- 19:29Speaker 5: nine games, and I've seen guys get off the slow
- 19:32Speaker 5: starts before and be able to rebound.
- 19:34Speaker 4: Yeah. I was listening to one of your guys in
- 19:36Speaker 4: the This Morning on the radio, Mark Daniels, and he
- 19:39Speaker 4: was talking about how, in his opinion, in camp like
- 19:45Speaker 4: Polk was a standout, like he never dropped the ball
- 19:47Speaker 4: and always seemed to make a play, you know, per practice.
- 19:50Speaker 4: I heard that he was shocked.
- 19:52Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean I, like I said, I didn't see
- 19:55Speaker 5: it that way. I saw a lot of short, little
- 19:57Speaker 5: catches that were kind of man and that's all we saw.
- 20:01Speaker 5: That's all we really saw. I didn't see a lot
- 20:03Speaker 5: of separation. I saw good hands. The thing that's really
- 20:06Speaker 5: surprised me is that he's me dropped a couple. He
- 20:08Speaker 5: hasn't dropped a lot. Yeah, I think that's been overblown
- 20:11Speaker 5: a little bit, but he's dropped. He had a couple
- 20:12Speaker 5: of easy drops, and that surprised me because he had
- 20:15Speaker 5: really good He showed really good hands, strong hands. I
- 20:18Speaker 5: mean I thought in camp.
- 20:19Speaker 4: Like I'm trying to remember, but like the first few
- 20:21Speaker 4: games he did okay, and then something regulars.
- 20:25Speaker 5: Yeah, No, he's never had any success in the regular season.
- 20:28Speaker 5: I thought, he doesn't even have one hundred yards.
- 20:31Speaker 4: No, I know, but I thought starting out like he
- 20:34Speaker 4: had a few catches.
- 20:36Speaker 5: Yeah, he had like three catches for fourteen yards like
- 20:38Speaker 5: stuff like that. No, like he has not made any plays,
- 20:41Speaker 5: but something happened and yeah, he's fighting something from a confidence.
- 20:46Speaker 4: I don't know if it's Bill blasts or you know.
- 20:49Speaker 5: I do think he's fighting something.
- 20:51Speaker 4: Yeah, and it's not just the drops, it's the it's
- 20:55Speaker 4: the mistakes you crack me on. It's you know, like
- 20:58Speaker 4: you get on the field for two plays and.
- 21:01Speaker 5: That's when you know a guy is fighting it mentally
- 21:03Speaker 5: because he's thinking about everything he's doing. He gets a
- 21:05Speaker 5: holding penalty, he's trying to block a on a wide
- 21:08Speaker 5: receiver screen. He gets a holding call. He gets a
- 21:11Speaker 5: shift penalty, which seems to be a problem for all
- 21:14Speaker 5: the receivers. But again, I'm not ready to just say,
- 21:19Speaker 5: Jalen Polk, is you know this is a wasted pick.
- 21:22Speaker 5: I'm not ready to say that. I need to see
- 21:24Speaker 5: some more.
- 21:25Speaker 4: But they're they're looking at him, they're looking at the
- 21:27Speaker 4: the they're all sign that they picked.
- 21:29Speaker 5: So I'll tell you what they're looking at too, is
- 21:31Speaker 5: what's hurt in Polk is there are guys that were
- 21:35Speaker 5: picked around him that are contributing. They're not no one's
- 21:38Speaker 5: you know, blowing doors off or anything. But we talked
- 21:41Speaker 5: about some of those guys, Xavier Leaguet, Xavier Worthy, Kean Coleman,
- 21:47Speaker 5: Lad McConkie. These are all guys that were taken within
- 21:50Speaker 5: three or four slots of where the Patriots originally sat
- 21:53Speaker 5: in the second round, and they decided to move down.
- 21:56Speaker 5: They I think personally they tried to move up to
- 21:59Speaker 5: get Lee get and you know, they weren't able to
- 22:03Speaker 5: pull it off, so then they moved down. So in
- 22:07Speaker 5: moving down, the one guy that they passed on is
- 22:10Speaker 5: your guy McConkie, Ladd McConkie, who's been okay. He's I
- 22:13Speaker 5: think he's got like four hundred and fifty yards or so,
- 22:16Speaker 5: you know in his rookie year, So it gets open.
- 22:18Speaker 5: That's pretty good production, you know. And he's playing for
- 22:21Speaker 5: a good team too. It's not like he's putting up
- 22:23Speaker 5: plastic yards. I mean the Chargers are playing in pretty
- 22:25Speaker 5: well well.
- 22:28Speaker 4: So that has Patriot's Nation nervous. Is the rebuild seems
- 22:33Speaker 4: other than May there wasn't a lot of building.
- 22:36Speaker 5: And that's not enough, Like I understand, like the quarterback
- 22:38Speaker 5: is the only thing.
- 22:39Speaker 4: Like you, if.
- 22:42Speaker 5: You asked me to decide, if I had to pick,
- 22:45Speaker 5: it's a good pu topic. If you had to pick,
- 22:48Speaker 5: you get a really good draft class. Polk and Baker
- 22:51Speaker 5: are good, Wallace and Robinson are good, like these are
- 22:54Speaker 5: really good players, but May's a bust or May's a
- 22:58Speaker 5: really good player, and you don't get much from the rest.
- 23:00Speaker 4: Of course, I take May, would you he's the quarterback? Yeah?
- 23:06Speaker 5: For me, it's easy. And I think people might argue
- 23:08Speaker 5: with you on that.
- 23:09Speaker 4: But why can't I Why can't I have May and
- 23:12Speaker 4: one or two others? You know what I mean? Like that? No,
- 23:17Speaker 4: but to me, it's not a dilemma. You know, you
- 23:20Speaker 4: got May great.
- 23:22Speaker 5: Now you need to have a couple of those guys
- 23:25Speaker 5: lablished themselves as stars.
- 23:27Speaker 4: It should be less difficult to pick guys at other
- 23:30Speaker 4: positions than the quarterback and be successful. You know.
- 23:35Speaker 5: Well, I mean I think I think there's a good
- 23:38Speaker 5: study that could be done on that. I would push back.
- 23:41Speaker 5: I think there's plenty of misses at all positions.
- 23:44Speaker 4: Well that's why. But but when you're missing quarterback, there's
- 23:48Speaker 4: only one of them and now you have to.
- 23:50Speaker 5: Right and it's and it's a glaring thing. You could
- 23:54Speaker 5: say that when when the quarterback misses and a tackle misses,
- 24:02Speaker 5: you know, it's pretty you know, it can be pretty
- 24:03Speaker 5: obvious both ways. But who do you think people remember?
- 24:06Speaker 4: Right? You know, the quarterback all right, let's get to
- 24:10Speaker 4: the tpx hutline. We'll start with Eldred in North Carolina.
- 24:15Speaker 4: What's up Eldred heyd Hey in Nashville. I was with
- 24:24Speaker 4: Trey in Melvin and they were like, oh, we gotta
- 24:26Speaker 4: meet Aldred.
- 24:29Speaker 10: Melvin, me and mend But I like to meet Trey
- 24:34Speaker 10: y'all too.
- 24:34Speaker 11: I would like to do that also.
- 24:36Speaker 4: Yeah, Trey was saying, I gotta meet up. I gotta
- 24:38Speaker 4: meet Aldred.
- 24:38Speaker 5: You were missed, biggie. They were missing you. They wanted
- 24:41Speaker 5: to see you.
- 24:42Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 24:43Speaker 10: I wish I could have made it there, but I
- 24:45Speaker 10: don't know. But what my end is, I can't get
- 24:47Speaker 10: to Nashville if I take the long way around. Yeah, okay, well,
- 24:52Speaker 10: because forty forty is still knocked off from that hurricane
- 24:56Speaker 10: without twenty six going.
- 24:57Speaker 4: To Tennessee and you're a banded most of the other roads.
- 25:00Speaker 4: So that's you know, right, too much honky in of
- 25:03Speaker 4: the horn, right, yeah, too much radio listening.
- 25:06Speaker 10: But Fred, I agree agree the rest of past nations.
- 25:11Speaker 10: I don't trust people in the front offs to rebuild
- 25:14Speaker 10: because two of those guys being with the other regimes,
- 25:17Speaker 10: and to me, like I said during the draft, besides
- 25:20Speaker 10: Mate and Paul. You know I didn't want that pig either,
- 25:23Speaker 10: but I also say, if you show, I'll come around.
- 25:27Speaker 10: I'm coming around.
- 25:28Speaker 5: You did, and you're being fair about it. Absolutely. I
- 25:30Speaker 5: remember you saying that, Yes, if I.
- 25:33Speaker 10: Wanted a d Mitchell or if we couldn't get him
- 25:36Speaker 10: or somebody like you know, but I can't understand why
- 25:40Speaker 10: I see people through make some moves, you know, Bith Brown,
- 25:43Speaker 10: fourth rown, popping forth from field, retell me Elliott Wolf
- 25:48Speaker 10: couldn't find a certable tackle, not a started tackle, but someone,
- 25:52Speaker 10: you know, better than what we got for at least
- 25:54Speaker 10: a third, fourth round or fifth crown pick. You know.
- 25:57Speaker 10: You gotta be somebody somewhere on the online that's like that.
- 26:01Speaker 10: And I think that jackson be gone, Well, not that
- 26:04Speaker 10: Jacksonville guy, but the Minnesota guy says Darius gone. You know,
- 26:08Speaker 10: I think they got another one. That young guy's still there,
- 26:12Speaker 10: and I know he's work in progress, but he's got
- 26:14Speaker 10: to be better than what we got because they picked
- 26:16Speaker 10: him in the second or third round. Gotta be.
- 26:19Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 26:20Speaker 10: But I'm like past Nation, man, I'm a little nervous too, okay,
- 26:23Speaker 10: because Wolf supposed to go like a pack of wide
- 26:27Speaker 10: receivers but I ain't never seen pack with wide receiver
- 26:30Speaker 10: beside six two and float. Besides, those are just somewhere
- 26:35Speaker 10: else now anybody else. They can block, they can run,
- 26:38Speaker 10: they get over, they got speed, and I never so
- 26:42Speaker 10: you know, if he took the pack of way pick
- 26:45Speaker 10: these two guys. And I didn't like Folk anyway. If
- 26:49Speaker 10: he's down, hope for a Tuesday. But I know we
- 26:50Speaker 10: were gonna get him, and I'll let you go from them.
- 26:53Speaker 4: You'll have a good one, all right, thanks, Eldred.
- 26:55Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean a lot of the stuff that Aldi
- 26:57Speaker 5: Jeff said. I do remember him talking about like he
- 26:59Speaker 5: didn't he wasn't a huge may guy, but he did say,
- 27:02Speaker 5: you know, listen, if if he comes in he plays, well,
- 27:05Speaker 5: I'll i'll, I'll jump on board. And he did not
- 27:08Speaker 5: like the selection of Polk when they made it. So
- 27:12Speaker 5: and you know, like I said, the jury's still out.
- 27:15Speaker 4: And he mentioned something we talked about yesterday that this
- 27:18Speaker 4: front office regime was there when Bill was there. Uh
- 27:22Speaker 4: so are we getting more of the same? And the
- 27:25Speaker 4: question we raised and we don't know the answer to it,
- 27:28Speaker 4: is what say did they have during that regime? And
- 27:31Speaker 4: are they now? You know, obviously they have the ability
- 27:36Speaker 4: to now make those decisions. But it's the mindset different
- 27:40Speaker 4: right now than it used to be. And right now
- 27:43Speaker 4: the results are maze good and everybody else is not.
- 27:46Speaker 4: So it's still it's still I am not on the
- 27:50Speaker 4: let's fire everybody bandwagon, which I've heard, I've heard clear
- 27:54Speaker 4: out the front office.
- 27:56Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm not on that either. I have my reservations,
- 28:00Speaker 5: just like you said, like with some people you know
- 28:02Speaker 5: or not are unsure. But I feel like that's a
- 28:05Speaker 5: bad cycle to get on. Yeah, like we're going.
- 28:08Speaker 4: To hire me now, you're the team that you make
- 28:09Speaker 4: fun of.
- 28:10Speaker 5: We're going to hire people and we're going to cycle
- 28:12Speaker 5: through them in one year. Now, there's a fine line
- 28:15Speaker 5: because if you decide, if you get to a point
- 28:17Speaker 5: where you're like, this isn't the guy, then you need
- 28:20Speaker 5: to be aggressive and pull the trigger. I just don't.
- 28:22Speaker 5: I just don't think they we're there yet.
- 28:24Speaker 4: No, we're not there yet.
- 28:26Speaker 5: Yeah, And to me, it would be more about some
- 28:28Speaker 5: of the stuff that you see off the field, sort
- 28:31Speaker 5: of a lack of organization, a lack of direction. And
- 28:35Speaker 5: I'm not telling you everything has been perfect in that regard.
- 28:37Speaker 5: You know, we talked about the overtime taking into the wind.
- 28:40Speaker 5: So I'm not telling you everything has been buttoned down,
- 28:42Speaker 5: you know, perfect, But I haven't seen, you know, the
- 28:48Speaker 5: kind of insubordination that you see sometimes. I think, like
- 28:51Speaker 5: I said, I think she's seen some signs of that.
- 28:53Speaker 4: In Chicago, Jerrod kind of had an admission of bad
- 28:57Speaker 4: mistakes while at the same time saying, I'm the one
- 29:00Speaker 4: that has to make the decision, and you know, you
- 29:04Speaker 4: don't have to agree with it. But he did mention today,
- 29:08Speaker 4: you know, first time, you know, I feel I need
- 29:12Speaker 4: to get better in you know, uh, situational decisions, and
- 29:16Speaker 4: as I see more, I'm you know, I'm going to
- 29:19Speaker 4: get better. So that was without saying it.
- 29:22Speaker 5: Maybe that was a really good question. I think it was.
- 29:24Speaker 5: Andrew Callen.
- 29:25Speaker 4: It might have been a mission. I don't know if
- 29:26Speaker 4: we're in particular to that wind decision, but maybe that
- 29:31Speaker 4: was on his mind as well, because I'm sure he's
- 29:33Speaker 4: doing self scouting as well. Yeah, and knows that I
- 29:37Speaker 4: can be back.
- 29:37Speaker 5: I'd be curious to see how that decision was made. Yeah,
- 29:41Speaker 5: is there someone that you know is in charge of
- 29:45Speaker 5: you know, Okay, so the wind, the wind is going
- 29:47Speaker 5: this way. Hey, the wind patterns have changed or whatever.
- 29:50Speaker 5: Is there someone in charge of.
- 29:51Speaker 4: That but see or is it just I don't know
- 29:54Speaker 4: what he was talking about, because the wind pattern did
- 29:56Speaker 4: not change.
- 29:57Speaker 5: But I have had people tell me on the field
- 30:00Speaker 5: that there wasn't much wind. I've had people in the
- 30:02Speaker 5: press boxes that there was a significant wind. It was,
- 30:04Speaker 5: you know, like ten miles an hour like I'm sure.
- 30:06Speaker 4: Like it came and went. But I was you know, again,
- 30:11Speaker 4: I wrote it down in the blog, so I have
- 30:13Speaker 4: record of it. I'm not this is in hindsight. I
- 30:16Speaker 4: noticed a very stiff wind going from left to right
- 30:19Speaker 4: as you look at the Patriots bench. Then I looked
- 30:22Speaker 4: up and saw the flag, which verified that. I made
- 30:25Speaker 4: note of that, you know. And and then later on
- 30:29Speaker 4: I did not see that flag ever go down, ever
- 30:31Speaker 4: go limp.
- 30:32Speaker 5: So you don't want the flag.
- 30:34Speaker 4: We don't want the flag to go limp. No, so
- 30:39Speaker 4: and then he said that after the game, and I
- 30:41Speaker 4: was like, hmm, that's that's doesn't sound right to me.
- 30:44Speaker 5: So I and I do. I. You know, I gave
- 30:47Speaker 5: a lot of praise to Drake May for how he
- 30:49Speaker 5: handles himself. I think that was a very minor but
- 30:53Speaker 5: maybe the first and only example of a misstep for
- 30:56Speaker 5: him talking about that throw into the wind, because I
- 31:00Speaker 5: don't think that would have been a huge topic of
- 31:02Speaker 5: conversation had he not said that. Do you do you
- 31:05Speaker 5: think people would have gonna be saying, what are they
- 31:06Speaker 5: doing that? Like the broadcast didn't mention it.
- 31:09Speaker 4: You're right, you're right, and that's radar, And yes it did.
- 31:14Speaker 4: You're right, you're absolutely right. He said it right after
- 31:17Speaker 4: the game, and you know, seeing it live, I didn't
- 31:21Speaker 4: know that. It didn't seem to me like that was
- 31:23Speaker 4: a wind affected throw. It seemed to me like I'm
- 31:26Speaker 4: not sure it was.
- 31:26Speaker 5: But that's not the point.
- 31:27Speaker 4: No, no, no, but just looking at it, it didn't
- 31:31Speaker 4: seem that way. It just seemed like he didn't see
- 31:34Speaker 4: the center fielder. You know.
- 31:35Speaker 5: Yeah, that's that's how I saw it. I know, Evan said,
- 31:38Speaker 5: he felt said.
- 31:39Speaker 4: That I believe it. I believe in his mind that
- 31:43Speaker 4: ball was affected.
- 31:44Speaker 5: No, but my point is, when you're the quarterback hits you,
- 31:50Speaker 5: it's on you. And then I think.
- 31:52Speaker 4: He he said it was a bad decision the next day. No, no, no,
- 31:56Speaker 4: he said right after the game, he said that was
- 31:58Speaker 4: that was a bad decision.
- 32:00Speaker 5: Me because of throwing into the wind.
- 32:01Speaker 4: Well, I don't know.
- 32:02Speaker 5: Whatever he said, he didn't put enough on it into
- 32:04Speaker 5: the winds.
- 32:05Speaker 4: But he said it was a bad decision.
- 32:07Speaker 5: Yeah, I thought he really backtracked the following day, saying
- 32:11Speaker 5: the wind didn't have anything to do with that. It
- 32:13Speaker 5: was a bad play by me. But you know, I'm paraphrasing,
- 32:16Speaker 5: but I did like that he did that the day after.
- 32:20Speaker 5: But just going back, you know, it's it can come
- 32:27Speaker 5: off as excuse making. I don't take it that way.
- 32:29Speaker 4: How do we know that the next day he wasn't
- 32:32Speaker 4: talked to about you know, it was the coach's decision
- 32:35Speaker 4: to go that way. You're you're undermining your coach by saying.
- 32:37Speaker 5: That, Oh, that would be that would be my guest.
- 32:39Speaker 4: Yeah, I do think that because you know, one of
- 32:45Speaker 4: the great things about talking to players right after the
- 32:47Speaker 4: game is you get what they're really thinking sometimes. And
- 32:51Speaker 4: I think he really did think that the wind affected
- 32:54Speaker 4: that throw.
- 32:55Speaker 5: Oh I'm sure he did. Yeah, but don't you think
- 32:58Speaker 5: that's an excuse Even if it did affect the throw,
- 33:01Speaker 5: it's it's an excuse, right.
- 33:03Speaker 4: Well, but he said it was. But he followed that
- 33:06Speaker 4: up with saying it was a bad decision by me
- 33:08Speaker 4: right to throw that throw because of the wind, like
- 33:12Speaker 4: I should have known better.
- 33:14Speaker 5: Yeah, I think that's an excuse. I think that's bad.
- 33:17Speaker 5: Like I think that. I think that's an Aaron Rodgers
- 33:20Speaker 5: like response. Now, Aaron Rodgers has twenty years of blaming
- 33:24Speaker 5: other people and the things and other factors. This is
- 33:27Speaker 5: like a half of minor one little thing by Drake
- 33:30Speaker 5: May that I'm completely ignoring.
- 33:32Speaker 4: I don't know. I kind of look at it. I
- 33:33Speaker 4: knew the wind was against me. That was a bad decision.
- 33:37Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 33:40Speaker 5: But so it's not a bad decision you threw into
- 33:43Speaker 5: double coverage. It's bad decision you threw into double coverage
- 33:46Speaker 5: into the window. That's kind of like my point, like, yeah,
- 33:49Speaker 5: he might God have gotten it there if it wasn't
- 33:50Speaker 5: for the wind. Right, Okay, like it now again.
- 33:55Speaker 4: But at the end of the day, it was a
- 33:57Speaker 4: bad decision to go that direction.
- 33:59Speaker 6: On the toss.
- 34:00Speaker 5: Correct, That's what it comes down. And I just wonder
- 34:04Speaker 5: back to square one here, I just wonder what went
- 34:06Speaker 5: into the process. Did did Girod just say like at
- 34:09Speaker 5: one o'clock the wind is going this way, and we're
- 34:13Speaker 5: going to do this and then at four point fifteen,
- 34:16Speaker 5: he just said, well, you know whatever we already determined
- 34:20Speaker 5: at one o'clock whatever, like, because either way it's bad.
- 34:23Speaker 5: Like if it did change and he didn't take it consideration,
- 34:25Speaker 5: it's bad if it didn't change and he still went
- 34:29Speaker 5: into the wind knowingly, that's bad too, you know, And
- 34:34Speaker 5: I like part of it. I put on like it's
- 34:37Speaker 5: the coach's decision. Did he actually tell Joe Cardona, if
- 34:42Speaker 5: we lose the toss, we're going this way or that way?
- 34:44Speaker 4: I was going to say that, but I said, allow,
- 34:46Speaker 4: that seems so ridiculous that you don't have that.
- 34:49Speaker 5: I tho where you go out for the toss because
- 34:53Speaker 5: we have been here for twenty five years and we
- 34:56Speaker 5: know that that would be ridiculous. But we're just like
- 34:58Speaker 5: everybody else. Now, as you said a little while ago,
- 35:01Speaker 5: I don't know. I don't know if everything every.
- 35:04Speaker 4: Little given the directions if we lose the toss, this
- 35:08Speaker 4: is direction we want to, Like.
- 35:09Speaker 5: We know Matthew Slater was always told, but all your
- 35:13Speaker 5: scenarios ID.
- 35:15Speaker 4: Like Joe's been out there for tosses before, like even
- 35:18Speaker 4: he should know you know which way we're gonna go, Coach.
- 35:21Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 35:23Speaker 5: It's a great point.
- 35:24Speaker 4: Or maybe the excitement of that last play was just
- 35:26Speaker 4: still so much that it was an oversight, I don't know.
- 35:30Speaker 5: Or maybe the win wasn't that big of a factor. Yeah,
- 35:33Speaker 5: or maybe and it didn't matter right.
- 35:36Speaker 4: Right, Uh, let's go to Chris in New Hampshire. What's up, Chris, Hey.
- 35:43Speaker 12: Fellows, how are you doing good? I won't say Fred,
- 35:47Speaker 12: thank you very much. I've incorporated the Fred Smiff into
- 35:50Speaker 12: my life and since then I've had the courage to
- 35:53Speaker 12: post my girlfriend to start my own company. So I
- 35:58Speaker 12: really appreciate you show me that power move.
- 36:02Speaker 5: It's absolutely a power move. Good job by you. I
- 36:05Speaker 5: like it, so thank you very much for sure.
- 36:07Speaker 13: And if mister Craft is listening, Paul Priuliu needs a
- 36:12Speaker 13: new car. The PU crew have been the most entertaining
- 36:16Speaker 13: part of this team for going on but five years.
- 36:19Speaker 13: And if Paul can't get to work, that's gonna pick
- 36:22Speaker 13: the team.
- 36:22Speaker 4: Well, the letters can go to one Patriot Place.
- 36:26Speaker 5: I love this campaign postmarket.
- 36:28Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 36:28Speaker 5: I feel like you know, like.
- 36:29Speaker 14: You guys are great?
- 36:30Speaker 11: Thank you?
- 36:31Speaker 4: Okay, thanks Chris.
- 36:32Speaker 5: That high school teacher that everybody like rallies around, I feel.
- 36:35Speaker 4: Like that Yeah, you're gonna walk out one day and
- 36:38Speaker 4: it's just start crying. We're all going to be start crying. Yeah,
- 36:42Speaker 4: we'll put it on me. I get emotional, We'll put
- 36:43Speaker 4: it on the social media. Speaking of emotional, Hey.
- 36:47Speaker 3: Look who's back from the locker room? What was the mood?
- 36:51Speaker 8: Zoom out, Mike, what was it like the locker room?
- 37:00Speaker 4: Like?
- 37:01Speaker 3: What was it like in the.
- 37:05Speaker 4: Wistful kind of you know, I found myself kind of
- 37:10Speaker 4: humming it the other day? Hey, indeed, so Mike, what
- 37:14Speaker 4: was it like?
- 37:15Speaker 8: It was a pretty standard day. I wouldn't say there
- 37:18Speaker 8: was overwhelming energy or things usually we get in I
- 37:21Speaker 8: feel like wenesdayse guys are coming out of meetings and resetting,
- 37:24Speaker 8: so not a lot of you know, hanging around guys
- 37:26Speaker 8: getting ready for practice. We did hear from Christian Gonzalez,
- 37:30Speaker 8: Vaderian Lowe, and Kendrick Bourne. I really like Vederian low
- 37:33Speaker 8: I just he's just really accountable. He says the things
- 37:36Speaker 8: that I feel like you're thinking when he's like, yeah,
- 37:38Speaker 8: you know, we had the run game. We felt like
- 37:40Speaker 8: going early and it's an attitude we've got to get
- 37:42Speaker 8: back to it.
- 37:43Speaker 15: You know.
- 37:43Speaker 8: He was accountable on a lot of the mistakes that
- 37:46Speaker 8: you know happened some of the run you know, specific
- 37:48Speaker 8: run game questions that were asked to him. So I
- 37:51Speaker 8: just like how accountable he is.
- 37:52Speaker 14: You know.
- 37:53Speaker 8: I know it's it's been up and down for him
- 37:55Speaker 8: and a lot of injuries have affected him. But I
- 37:58Speaker 8: think all the guys are saying the right things right now.
- 37:59Speaker 8: You know, it's just a year two and seven. It's
- 38:02Speaker 8: you're up against it and you only keep pressing certain buttons.
- 38:05Speaker 16: Over and over again.
- 38:06Speaker 8: So you know, I guess urgency is the thing of
- 38:09Speaker 8: the week.
- 38:09Speaker 16: That's what Jarrod said at the top. It felt like
- 38:11Speaker 16: a lot of the guys are like, we got to
- 38:12Speaker 16: be urgent every week.
- 38:14Speaker 8: So they're all very aware of where they're at, what's
- 38:16Speaker 8: going right, what's going wrong right now? And yeah, it's
- 38:19Speaker 8: just overall though, felt like kind of a standard day.
- 38:21Speaker 4: And so some of our fans may not realize this
- 38:25Speaker 4: is a new thing this year, but cameras are no
- 38:30Speaker 4: longer allowed in the locker room. If you want to
- 38:33Speaker 4: do a video interview with somebody, you make a request
- 38:37Speaker 4: and they they walk them across the hall to the
- 38:40Speaker 4: old to the REVS locker room. Revolutionary in the building.
- 38:46Speaker 4: It's the locker room that they use, so it's a
- 38:48Speaker 4: separate room. Have you been in that room? And what's
- 38:51Speaker 4: the vibe in the camera room?
- 38:53Speaker 8: Oh, it's it's definitely different because, as you guys are
- 38:56Speaker 8: well aware, the camera men are a little different there.
- 38:58Speaker 8: You know, some salty dogs in there. Of course, you
- 39:00Speaker 8: know our steamed colleague. I guess Dan roach Of he's
- 39:04Speaker 8: on all access, right, we can call him a colleague. Yeah,
- 39:07Speaker 8: he's always in there asking questions. He makes fun of
- 39:10Speaker 8: me a little bit though, as I lurk, which I
- 39:13Speaker 8: like to, you know, listen and I walk around a
- 39:15Speaker 8: little bit. You know, Dan's right in the middle there
- 39:17Speaker 8: firing off the questions. But yeah, all the cameras are
- 39:19Speaker 8: set up, you know, they're already. They're all just kind
- 39:21Speaker 8: of sitting around waiting instead of standing in the middle
- 39:23Speaker 8: of the locker room waiting.
- 39:24Speaker 4: Different for different vibe in the camera room than the lock.
- 39:28Speaker 8: I think it is a different vibe because you don't
- 39:30Speaker 8: have to have your head on a swivel anymore. You know,
- 39:32Speaker 8: you don't have to be ready for a scrum to
- 39:34Speaker 8: break out at any moment. You know they're gonna just
- 39:36Speaker 8: bring the guys to you, so you can just sit
- 39:38Speaker 8: there and you know, be on your phone for a
- 39:39Speaker 8: little while if you want, you know, have some quiet time,
- 39:41Speaker 8: and they'll walk Christian Gonzalez right up to you.
- 39:44Speaker 4: And so when you when you're a camera person, you
- 39:47Speaker 4: request you know, let's say Vederian Lowe and the is
- 39:50Speaker 4: it kind of etiquette that okay, that's that person's interview.
- 39:55Speaker 8: No, No, everybody does it.
- 39:56Speaker 6: It's full. It's a full scrum.
- 39:58Speaker 8: Everybody sets up in a semicircle. You got, you know whatever,
- 40:01Speaker 8: it is five to ten cameras.
- 40:02Speaker 5: They request players like they as a media group players
- 40:06Speaker 5: and like Stacey and Aaron will get you know, the
- 40:10Speaker 5: three or four different guys that were requested.
- 40:12Speaker 4: Lucas go to that.
- 40:13Speaker 8: Lucas does a great job. Lucas has been wrangling guys.
- 40:15Speaker 8: Asked them today who we got? He was on top
- 40:17Speaker 8: of it and he had guys ready to go.
- 40:19Speaker 6: So say what do we got?
- 40:20Speaker 16: Yeah?
- 40:20Speaker 8: Yeah, he efforted Vedarian low that he wasn't sure I
- 40:25Speaker 8: level we did get Vidarian love.
- 40:26Speaker 16: So that was that was exciting.
- 40:28Speaker 5: How did Vederian Lowe look.
- 40:30Speaker 8: Physically physically not as uh not as jarring as I
- 40:34Speaker 8: saw last last week? I think when I was in
- 40:36Speaker 8: the locker room, it was like giant you know, shoulder
- 40:39Speaker 8: strap and a knee brain. I mean he was still
- 40:41Speaker 8: not quite dressed for practice yet, Paul. I know they're
- 40:43Speaker 8: wearn'ting full pads today, so I assume he probably will
- 40:46Speaker 8: be suiting up with a bunch of different braces and
- 40:50Speaker 8: slings of things of this nature. But uh, you know,
- 40:52Speaker 8: we talked last week, and yeah I talked again this week.
- 40:54Speaker 16: He's just I think I read in.
- 40:56Speaker 8: One of the doctors The's books he said, you know,
- 40:58Speaker 8: recommending covering football teams always talk to the offensive lineman.
- 41:00Speaker 8: They're the ones who know everything and are usually the
- 41:03Speaker 8: most talkative. And I think he's a He's just a
- 41:05Speaker 8: good example of that of a guy who I think
- 41:07Speaker 8: says all the things that you kind of want to hear.
- 41:09Speaker 8: You want to hear the accountability, you want to hear
- 41:11Speaker 8: on the bad plays.
- 41:12Speaker 16: You know, what went wrong?
- 41:13Speaker 8: Was?
- 41:14Speaker 16: Is my fault?
- 41:14Speaker 8: You know I have to be better on that, So
- 41:16Speaker 8: plenty of that. Of course, you know two and seven,
- 41:19Speaker 8: it starts to get old, and it's like, all right,
- 41:20Speaker 8: we just can't keep saying my bad, my bad every week.
- 41:23Speaker 8: At some point they've got to turn it around.
- 41:25Speaker 4: So there was no residual comments about the shift of
- 41:29Speaker 4: the line, you know, the change that they made that
- 41:32Speaker 4: to start the game.
- 41:33Speaker 8: No, no, no one really asked him about about that personnel,
- 41:36Speaker 8: but you know it did say shoot, what play was it?
- 41:39Speaker 16: I forget there was.
- 41:40Speaker 8: One play he said, you know, specifically him and him
- 41:42Speaker 8: and Jordan had a miscommunication.
- 41:43Speaker 5: Second and one second and one run to hasty there
- 41:46Speaker 5: was only one guy over there. Neither one of them
- 41:48Speaker 5: blocked them. Yeah, so yeah, it wasn't great across the
- 41:52Speaker 5: board for for all, I would say six guys that
- 41:55Speaker 5: played significant snaps.
- 41:56Speaker 8: Now and he and he he said it. I mean,
- 41:58Speaker 8: he's like, we have to do better as an offensive line.
- 42:00Speaker 8: We just can't get the run game going. That's on us, and.
- 42:03Speaker 16: You know it's it doesn't fix.
- 42:04Speaker 8: It, but at least you know that they're well aware
- 42:06Speaker 8: of what.
- 42:07Speaker 4: The what's the last time people have talked to Scott Peters? Defensive?
- 42:11Speaker 5: Last? Defense? Defense?
- 42:14Speaker 4: Last?
- 42:15Speaker 16: We should hear from him on Thursday.
- 42:16Speaker 5: Thursday will be the.
- 42:17Speaker 4: Next That will be interesting see what he has.
- 42:19Speaker 5: He talks every two weeks the position coaches. They alternate
- 42:22Speaker 5: offense and defense.
- 42:23Speaker 8: Yeah, a little rotation goings.
- 42:25Speaker 4: Go back to the tpx houtline eight five to five
- 42:27Speaker 4: past five hundred, fidel is in Tampa. What's up, Fiddel?
- 42:32Speaker 14: Hey you guys, Hi.
- 42:36Speaker 15: I had a couple of things I wanted to follow
- 42:38Speaker 15: up on. I called the pregame show this past Sunday,
- 42:43Speaker 15: and I was basically saying how Matt Smith was wrong
- 42:47Speaker 15: about and how Paul was right. But then Paul yesterday
- 42:53Speaker 15: you got me. You're upset because now you're wanting to
- 42:55Speaker 15: and usually I'm always team Paul all the way.
- 43:00Speaker 16: Not today you.
- 43:01Speaker 15: Said about none. It's about yesterday one point specific like
- 43:05Speaker 15: bringing in other teams rejects where I receivers like Jonathan Mingo.
- 43:09Speaker 15: I do not want that. I'm tired of the Taekwon Thornton,
- 43:13Speaker 15: the Jalen Polk's already I'm already tired of it. The
- 43:17Speaker 15: Chad Jacksons. I don't want anyone to reclamation project.
- 43:19Speaker 4: None of those are those are all draft picks.
- 43:22Speaker 5: Yeah, it's not really a reclamation project. The guy in
- 43:25Speaker 5: the second year he caught like forty balls as a rookie,
- 43:29Speaker 5: I know.
- 43:29Speaker 15: But he's obviously they're obviously wanting to move on because
- 43:31Speaker 15: they're like they don't like him, or they don't want
- 43:33Speaker 15: to see the potension with him. If he was good,
- 43:35Speaker 15: he's going through a rough time, they would put up
- 43:37Speaker 15: with it, especially it's a rookie contract.
- 43:40Speaker 5: But yeah, I mean yeah, and I get your point.
- 43:43Speaker 5: For Dell, just you know, real quick and we can
- 43:46Speaker 5: move on. It wasn't necessarily specifically Jonathan Mingo. It was
- 43:51Speaker 5: a guy not being used much wherever he is.
- 43:55Speaker 4: Kyle van Noy, Yeah.
- 43:56Speaker 5: Maybe you maybe you take him. That's that's the example
- 43:59Speaker 5: I used on the radio and the pregame show on
- 44:01Speaker 5: the other on my Chin Wing on the China.
- 44:05Speaker 16: The good stuff.
- 44:05Speaker 5: Well, Darius Slayton was one I used. You know, I
- 44:08Speaker 5: was okay, But I'm just like a guy who's not
- 44:12Speaker 5: playing a ton where he is that might be looking
- 44:16Speaker 5: to get into another situation, and you have eight games
- 44:19Speaker 5: really of no pressure to see if he can establish
- 44:23Speaker 5: a connection with Drake May. I'd be interested in that.
- 44:25Speaker 5: But Fidel to you a point. It didn't have to
- 44:27Speaker 5: be Jonathan Mingo. You're right, he hasn't really done anything
- 44:30Speaker 5: this year.
- 44:32Speaker 15: No, of course, And I'm not saying oh specifically him,
- 44:34Speaker 15: I just I'm tired of us having these players as
- 44:38Speaker 15: to our team, who I already could tell was not
- 44:41Speaker 15: gonna do anything. Even in PEAKEE Brady and Belichick, we
- 44:46Speaker 15: couldn't even get Mohammed Sanu to do anything for us.
- 44:50Speaker 15: So like, even if we had the best coach, best
- 44:53Speaker 15: quarterback of time, Mohamasanu was not studying us our team
- 44:56Speaker 15: at twent nineteen. I don't think Jonathan Mingo or any
- 44:59Speaker 15: other receiver, not just him specifically.
- 45:02Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, I just really Mama Sanu was at
- 45:04Speaker 5: the end of a decent career, thanks, and had nothing
- 45:07Speaker 5: really left to give physically, Like Jonathan Mingo was a
- 45:10Speaker 5: young guy, like there's no juice, Like Jalen hy is
- 45:12Speaker 5: a young guy like that, it's not a physical problem.
- 45:16Speaker 5: Is he good enough? I don't know, the answer might
- 45:18Speaker 5: be no. But like Mohammed Sanu, he was brought in.
- 45:21Speaker 5: He had a good career. He had a good career, yeah,
- 45:24Speaker 5: like you know, and then they brought him in sort
- 45:26Speaker 5: of the end of the line. You couldn't run anymore.
- 45:28Speaker 5: And if you remember, he heard his ankle really quick too.
- 45:31Speaker 5: So yeah, I think that that ended before it even began. Now,
- 45:34Speaker 5: I would have never given him a second round pick
- 45:36Speaker 5: for him, you know, at the peak of his health.
- 45:39Speaker 8: Right, that's jarring, Like you're expecting to get a lot
- 45:43Speaker 8: out of him, Like you're expecting him to really like
- 45:45Speaker 8: get you know, Fred brings.
- 45:46Speaker 5: Up Kyle van Noy, Like that's a good example, Like
- 45:49Speaker 5: Danny Woodhead. That's someone else's cast off that you found
- 45:54Speaker 5: a role for.
- 45:55Speaker 8: You know, and they've got to be creative like that
- 45:57Speaker 8: when you're at this point, you know, at this point
- 46:00Speaker 8: in the league, when you're at the bottom, you need
- 46:01Speaker 8: to turn over every single rock that you can. That's
- 46:04Speaker 8: why I like some of the stuff. Yeah, it's a
- 46:07Speaker 8: great one, Like and that was a team that.
- 46:09Speaker 5: Was Now my guess is you need to do that
- 46:12Speaker 5: like ten times to get a Ninkovic or to get
- 46:15Speaker 5: a van neyd. But like, you don't know if you
- 46:18Speaker 5: don't try.
- 46:18Speaker 4: Right, Kevin Ferry, he's a football coach and he's a
- 46:26Speaker 4: coach at the school he teaches that and he was
- 46:28Speaker 4: wondering if he could reach out to the gal that
- 46:30Speaker 4: does the Evan is back from practice and also Mike's
- 46:34Speaker 4: back from the locker room and the other jingles. I
- 46:36Speaker 4: would love to hear. I would love to talk to
- 46:38Speaker 4: her and hire her to work on a walkout song
- 46:42Speaker 4: for our football team next year. All Carrie Underwood, let
- 46:46Speaker 4: me know if she is at all interested we do
- 46:48Speaker 4: we pay. Feel free to give her my info.
- 46:51Speaker 16: I already sent her the email.
- 46:53Speaker 4: This is what you can get, so we'll be I'll
- 46:56Speaker 4: be interesting.
- 46:57Speaker 5: Opportunities, Mike, we provide opportunities.
- 47:00Speaker 16: I've been waiting all night for Friday night. Will that
- 47:02Speaker 16: be what it would be for the high school?
- 47:03Speaker 4: Yeah? So so Matt follow up on that and Kevin,
- 47:08Speaker 4: if it works out, we'd love to know, you know,
- 47:10Speaker 4: how it worked out. That would be great. So that's
- 47:14Speaker 4: pretty cool.
- 47:16Speaker 8: Go shoot it, you know, to watch his team walk
- 47:19Speaker 8: out to chill and kate to be pretty cool.
- 47:21Speaker 4: Yeah, let's see, I've got a lot of emails coming in.
- 47:25Speaker 4: There's a lot of emails. Yeah, and again, I just
- 47:28Speaker 4: want to remind people but that when you email the show,
- 47:31Speaker 4: we put you into our distribution list for the newsletter,
- 47:36Speaker 4: the PU newsletter. So even if you don't have a question,
- 47:38Speaker 4: just email the show and we'll get your name into
- 47:41Speaker 4: the distribution list.
- 47:42Speaker 5: No big whoop, Nope.
- 47:44Speaker 4: Josh writes in how do you see the current receivers
- 47:48Speaker 4: developing over the next few years? Right now, I very
- 47:51Speaker 4: much see the players as very similar to what the
- 47:53Speaker 4: Patriots have had in the past, but they need a
- 47:55Speaker 4: real threat so everyone can play where they actually fit
- 47:59Speaker 4: if they can get consistent. I see Pop Douglas as
- 48:01Speaker 4: an Edelman two point zero, as Edelman didn't really blow
- 48:05Speaker 4: up until a few years after he was on the team. Also,
- 48:08Speaker 4: I see Booty as an Ammondola two point oh and
- 48:11Speaker 4: if you can start catching the ball, I see Poke
- 48:14Speaker 4: as a LaFell two point zero. I think they just
- 48:17Speaker 4: need an upgrade at the number one receiver position and
- 48:20Speaker 4: at tight end with Henry turning thirty this year and
- 48:22Speaker 4: virtually nothing behind him long term.
- 48:26Speaker 16: I don't really see I don't really see Douglas.
- 48:29Speaker 8: I mean I don't want to. He's not Edelman. I
- 48:31Speaker 8: mean Edelman was every down kind of guy. Isle Yeah, physical,
- 48:35Speaker 8: and I like Pop Douglas.
- 48:37Speaker 16: I think he's uh.
- 48:39Speaker 8: I mean, I hate calling him the number three four
- 48:41Speaker 8: kind of but that's like, but.
- 48:44Speaker 5: Was really physical after the catch, they would he was durable. Welker.
- 48:48Speaker 5: Those guys were tough, and they proved it over and
- 48:52Speaker 5: over and over again across the middle with breaking tackles
- 48:55Speaker 5: and making guys miss yards after catch. I haven't seen
- 48:58Speaker 5: that from to Mario Douglas. He's right. Edelman didn't blow
- 49:04Speaker 5: up until later. But Edelman caught forty passes as like
- 49:07Speaker 5: the fifth option, yeah, like as.
- 49:10Speaker 4: A rookie, and he had some injury, Yeah, he.
- 49:13Speaker 5: Had he had injury problems at first. So maybe this
- 49:15Speaker 5: is the same kind of stuff with Douglas. Maybe all
- 49:18Speaker 5: of a sudden year three, year four, he's comfortable, he
- 49:22Speaker 5: clicks and he's more durable. He gets a little bigg absolutely,
- 49:26Speaker 5: But I'm with Mike, I don't I'm not looking at
- 49:28Speaker 5: that yet.
- 49:29Speaker 8: The thing that that could be interesting or it could
- 49:32Speaker 8: be at this point you're frustrated with is that all
- 49:35Speaker 8: those receivers are running contract for two more years. You know,
- 49:38Speaker 8: except for kJ Osborne, who's currently on the team, he's
- 49:40Speaker 8: on a one year deal. But Polk and Baker, we know,
- 49:44Speaker 8: Thornton's you know, got the rest of his deal, Douglas
- 49:46Speaker 8: got the rest of his deal, Booty's got two more
- 49:48Speaker 8: seasons on a hit. So I mean, I feel like
- 49:51Speaker 8: you have to just keep stacking these guys and making
- 49:53Speaker 8: them compete and hoping that that competition can bring out
- 49:57Speaker 8: the best in those crew because like the what we've
- 50:00Speaker 8: talked about. Do you feel assured of any of those
- 50:02Speaker 8: guys right now? Like, I like Pop Douglas, but he
- 50:04Speaker 8: is a slot receiver, like specialty kind of guy, which
- 50:08Speaker 8: is nice to have, but it's kind of like a
- 50:09Speaker 8: cherry on top of a Sunday that you know when
- 50:11Speaker 8: you don't have the fudge or the ice cream yet
- 50:13Speaker 8: you know you gotta go get.
- 50:15Speaker 5: The one guy. And I don't think he's really similar
- 50:18Speaker 5: in style to to Amandola. I think Amandola is the
- 50:22Speaker 5: slot guy like Edelman.
- 50:24Speaker 8: That's that's the Pop Douglas coump I was Booty.
- 50:28Speaker 5: I think I'm intrigued to see if this continues, Like
- 50:34Speaker 5: does he continue to find a way to get open
- 50:36Speaker 5: deep because he's been doing that. Yeah, and I and
- 50:38Speaker 5: I wonder if that's something that he can just consistently
- 50:41Speaker 5: as a knack for doing. The production hasn't been there.
- 50:45Speaker 5: I mean we remember because it's downfield plays, but he's
- 50:49Speaker 5: catching like two basses of the game.
- 50:50Speaker 16: Yeah.
- 50:51Speaker 8: I thought it was interesting too, low uh Lo said,
- 50:53Speaker 8: I mean kind of what Evan was saying to us,
- 50:55Speaker 8: like they were dialing up that shot play at the end,
- 50:57Speaker 8: the interception they were that was one hundred percent.
- 51:00Speaker 16: This is we're going to win the game right now.
- 51:01Speaker 5: With no question.
- 51:03Speaker 16: That was kind of cool.
- 51:04Speaker 4: Roy about the overtime win call, says, I'd rather believe
- 51:08Speaker 4: Cardona blew the call to play against the wind than
- 51:12Speaker 4: Mayo and the entire Pat's brain trust. Hopefully it's just
- 51:15Speaker 4: Mayo having his back.
- 51:17Speaker 5: I'd rather believe that too. Yeah, yes, I totally one
- 51:22Speaker 5: hundred percent agreement with that email. That'd be a much
- 51:24Speaker 5: better sign that the captain went out there and made
- 51:26Speaker 5: a mistake, then the head coach didn't even think about it, right.
- 51:29Speaker 8: Maybe guys got to be pretty aware of the window.
- 51:30Speaker 4: I would have say, sailors and did your sales. Yeah.
- 51:35Speaker 4: L from Wisconsin says I feel very down on the team.
- 51:38Speaker 4: I'm not sure we'd have the coaching front office to
- 51:40Speaker 4: build a good one for the team. This reminds me
- 51:43Speaker 4: of the old Colts. Manning would constantly press because he
- 51:47Speaker 4: knew if he punted the game was lost. I know
- 51:50Speaker 4: the points aren't similar.
- 51:51Speaker 5: This reminds you of the old Colts.
- 51:54Speaker 6: The score thirty five every night.
- 51:57Speaker 4: Yeah, they had one game in Denver where they didn't
- 51:59Speaker 4: punt the whole game. One game. I know the points
- 52:03Speaker 4: aren't similar, but this kind of feels the same. May
- 52:06Speaker 4: is the entire team. They can't run, they can't catch,
- 52:09Speaker 4: They just rely on him for everything, and the defense
- 52:12Speaker 4: doesn't help. Sure, the Titans only score twenty, but when
- 52:16Speaker 4: they go straight down the field on the first drive,
- 52:18Speaker 4: you're immediately playing from a deficit. So Elle is warried.
- 52:24Speaker 5: I agree with you, Worry, I just don't. I don't
- 52:27Speaker 5: necessarily agree with the comp one of the best teams
- 52:30Speaker 5: really of the last twenty five years.
- 52:32Speaker 4: The goals.
- 52:33Speaker 8: I mean, I found myself going back looking at the
- 52:35Speaker 8: ninety and ninety two pass just to like, for like
- 52:37Speaker 8: comps sick, that's like what that's a better con like
- 52:39Speaker 8: what we're what? We're bad teams? Know they what did
- 52:42Speaker 8: they really look like? But I mean I did look
- 52:44Speaker 8: at the ninety three season though, you know what, I
- 52:46Speaker 8: think it was four wins at the end.
- 52:48Speaker 16: I mean, it wasn't a great season, but.
- 52:50Speaker 5: No, they were one and eleven, but they lost a
- 52:52Speaker 5: lot of close games in November and then they started
- 52:54Speaker 5: winning those games in December, just like this season, and
- 52:57Speaker 5: you had something to build on.
- 52:58Speaker 8: Honestly, some signs of life, some signs of what kind
- 53:00Speaker 8: of identity this team is.
- 53:02Speaker 16: Are they tough to play against? Are they?
- 53:03Speaker 8: You know, it's just right now, it feels like teams
- 53:05Speaker 8: are licking their chops waiting to get right against them
- 53:08Speaker 8: for all the things that have gone wrong for these teams.
- 53:10Speaker 8: And you know, I think, you know, you look at
- 53:12Speaker 8: like the Chicago pass game. Evan was telling me he's
- 53:14Speaker 8: looking at some of the Chicago Beat writers and everybody's like,
- 53:17Speaker 8: do we get the third best quarterback in this trap?
- 53:20Speaker 16: You know, like they're like worried.
- 53:21Speaker 8: And it's like, have you met the Patriots defense yet?
- 53:24Speaker 8: Because this might be just Caleb Williams needs.
- 53:26Speaker 5: To get And it is funny because like two weeks
- 53:29Speaker 5: ago in London when he ripped apart Jacksonville, everybody was,
- 53:33Speaker 5: you know, singing the praises of how much development he.
- 53:35Speaker 16: Came back on.
- 53:36Speaker 5: And then you know, the fourth quarter in the Washington
- 53:39Speaker 5: game when he goes and he leads them on two
- 53:40Speaker 5: touchdown drives, one of which they botched because they tried
- 53:44Speaker 5: to hand the ball off to the offensive lineman. People
- 53:48Speaker 5: were like, wow, even when he had a bad game
- 53:50Speaker 5: for three quarters, he played his best and now all
- 53:53Speaker 5: of a sudden they give up a Hail Mary. The
- 53:55Speaker 5: team completely mailed it in last week. I think I
- 53:59Speaker 5: explained they gave up a fifty three yard run with
- 54:02Speaker 5: like four seconds left in the half, Like that's a
- 54:05Speaker 5: hard thing to do. You don't see that. Basically, they
- 54:08Speaker 5: were running the clock out and the guy took it
- 54:10Speaker 5: to the house and it was fourteen to nine at
- 54:12Speaker 5: the time. That ended the game.
- 54:14Speaker 4: That play seth and Portland, and that's the one in Oregon,
- 54:21Speaker 4: he says, not made. You were touching on this yesterday.
- 54:24Speaker 4: But the one thing I love the most about May
- 54:27Speaker 4: is that he's exactly like his draft evaluation, same strength
- 54:31Speaker 4: and same mistakes. That means they got it right, which
- 54:34Speaker 4: is most of the battle. It's all coaching, roster building
- 54:36Speaker 4: an experience from here. So the question is I didn't
- 54:39Speaker 4: expect them to be good this year and win a lot.
- 54:42Speaker 4: But the operation, as Paul often says, doesn't look right.
- 54:45Speaker 4: What do you think is the cause talent coaching or
- 54:48Speaker 4: absence of on field leadership due to injuries or something else.
- 54:53Speaker 8: I think all of those are an element of how
- 54:55Speaker 8: you get to this point.
- 54:56Speaker 5: But those kinds of things like the operation doesn't look right,
- 54:59Speaker 5: like that's part of the evaluation. Like did they get
- 55:02Speaker 5: it right? Like he's I agree with the idea that
- 55:08Speaker 5: may is playing to his draft profile. Yeah, I think
- 55:13Speaker 5: that's the easy part, that's identifying what the guy physically
- 55:16Speaker 5: can and can't do. I don't think there's a lot
- 55:19Speaker 5: of misses on that. I don't think there's a lot
- 55:20Speaker 5: of guys drafted because we think this guy can throw
- 55:22Speaker 5: the ball a country mile and then you get him
- 55:24Speaker 5: and he's Jones. Like the miss comes with quarterbacks in particular,
- 55:31Speaker 5: is what's upstairs right and his ability to operate an
- 55:34Speaker 5: offense and a lot of that stuff you can't really
- 55:37Speaker 5: know for sure, and that's why some guys are good
- 55:40Speaker 5: from a physical standpoint, Like just pure physically, do you
- 55:45Speaker 5: think there's a huge difference between say, the top twenty
- 55:48Speaker 5: quarterbacks in the league. Now, there's obviously a Lamar Jackson,
- 55:51Speaker 5: you know, Patrick Mahomes and a Josh Allen you know,
- 55:54Speaker 5: like that have a little bit more of a varied
- 55:57Speaker 5: skill set.
- 55:57Speaker 4: For the top twenty, but like, yeah, I mean.
- 56:00Speaker 5: Physically, Kirk Cousins has everything you need.
- 56:05Speaker 16: Yeah, Like, yeah, there's little shades.
- 56:07Speaker 5: But he's not as good as some other guys.
- 56:12Speaker 4: Jared Goff, it's the decision making in crunch.
- 56:14Speaker 5: Time, right, and some guys are really good at it. Yeah,
- 56:17Speaker 5: some guys are inconsistent, you know, from week to week,
- 56:22Speaker 5: from game to game, series to series, whatever. Trevor Lawrence,
- 56:25Speaker 5: Let's use Trevor Lawrence as the example, because I think
- 56:27Speaker 5: physically there's nothing he can't do right. But he's not
- 56:31Speaker 5: as good as Josh Allen right, well, Patrick Mahomes right Right. Physically,
- 56:36Speaker 5: he's probably on par with those guys. I'll bet you
- 56:38Speaker 5: he can throw the ball as well. I bet you
- 56:40Speaker 5: he can ry. I bet you you know. And I'm
- 56:42Speaker 5: not talking about his like forty times at the combine.
- 56:44Speaker 5: I'm talking about what's the guy play, yea, what can
- 56:47Speaker 5: he do physically right? Justin Herbert, what can't he do
- 56:50Speaker 5: physically right? But he's not as good as those guys.
- 56:54Speaker 5: That's where the evaluation comes in. Yeah, he run the
- 56:56Speaker 5: offense every week the way we want it run.
- 56:59Speaker 8: That's what's I think encouraging to me about May I mean,
- 57:01Speaker 8: I don't know claim to know that I can identify
- 57:03Speaker 8: him going through progressions, but I do know what a
- 57:06Speaker 8: quarterback who's calm in the pocket looks like. And I'm
- 57:09Speaker 8: excited about that. But at the same time, I feel
- 57:10Speaker 8: like I saw that with Mac a little bit at
- 57:12Speaker 8: the beginning and it faded. He kind of lost it, right,
- 57:15Speaker 8: he lost his pocket presence when right out of the gate,
- 57:18Speaker 8: I thought that was one of his best things.
- 57:19Speaker 16: So hopefully they can stay on that.
- 57:20Speaker 5: I agree, because I took that cheese too. Yeah, I
- 57:23Speaker 5: mean in twenty one, I what I saw for stid
- 57:25Speaker 5: him in nineteen I saw a poise in the pocket
- 57:28Speaker 5: from front of the mac Jones early in his career
- 57:32Speaker 5: that really disappeared as time went on.
- 57:36Speaker 4: Devin in Belleville, Canada rites And every time I see
- 57:39Speaker 4: at Toyota, I think of Paul's car woes. And this
- 57:42Speaker 4: has led me to think of some side hustles from
- 57:44Speaker 4: mister Perrillo. Oh, I suggest during the off season between
- 57:48Speaker 4: noon and two on Wednesdays, Paul should host an online
- 57:51Speaker 4: course for NFL coaches from the Perillo School of Clock Management.
- 57:55Speaker 4: He could also have a course for outsmarting analytics with logic.
- 57:59Speaker 4: Surely mister Krafft would let him host these as long
- 58:01Speaker 4: as he less Patriots coaches in for free. Good one.
- 58:06Speaker 16: It is one that's pretty funny. I was.
- 58:08Speaker 8: I was thinking they should have you like sit next
- 58:10Speaker 8: to the Madden guys when they do their mad although
- 58:12Speaker 8: they don't play it, but I think it'd be funny
- 58:14Speaker 8: if you were like letting them Madden. They're playing Madden,
- 58:16Speaker 8: you were yelling at them about like poor clock decisions,
- 58:19Speaker 8: like you.
- 58:19Speaker 5: Know Madden, though I don't really know Madden. That would
- 58:23Speaker 5: be hard.
- 58:23Speaker 4: If you could have a side hustle, now, would it.
- 58:25Speaker 5: Be anything that makes me money? I need money?
- 58:29Speaker 4: So the thing could make you money? What would you do?
- 58:32Speaker 8: You parties as a stel getdy you know, as.
- 58:36Speaker 5: I don't know if I knew, and I would do.
- 58:39Speaker 4: It UFC fighter hustling out. Yeah, you know, like I
- 58:43Speaker 4: wouldn't mind teaching tennis if I could, if it could
- 58:47Speaker 4: make you know, if I could make a good money,
- 58:48Speaker 4: and I.
- 58:49Speaker 5: Should, I say coaching baseball. You know, I follow the
- 58:52Speaker 5: footsteps of my mentor Brian Moore.
- 58:55Speaker 4: That's exactly what I'm talking about, right, Yeah.
- 58:57Speaker 5: So you somebody you really like to make money doing that? No,
- 59:00Speaker 5: you could make money teaching test You could make money
- 59:03Speaker 5: doing that, could I over? You know that's a that's
- 59:06Speaker 5: a rich man's sport.
- 59:08Speaker 16: Yeah, young rich wise to curse.
- 59:10Speaker 5: Oh we got a whole scandal white shorts. You love it.
- 59:14Speaker 4: I think they make like sixty to one hundred bucks
- 59:16Speaker 4: an hour.
- 59:16Speaker 5: And you would put put the grape smugglers on. That'd
- 59:18Speaker 5: be awesome. Oh yeah, the wooden racket still puts the
- 59:22Speaker 5: Felas shirt on a little board. Yeah, you puts it
- 59:27Speaker 5: all the way up here. Wilson T. Two thousands break
- 59:34Speaker 5: it out of retirement from the seventies. He actually has
- 59:37Speaker 5: an aluminum racket. You know, you know they have graphite now.
- 59:40Speaker 4: Right, said Wilson T. Two thousands. That's what I just said, guy, racket,
- 59:44Speaker 4: I know that's.
- 59:48Speaker 5: You go with.
- 59:49Speaker 4: The w was like the worst racket ever made.
- 59:51Speaker 5: Wasn't really because I had one.
- 59:52Speaker 4: It had a sweet spot the size of an apple.
- 59:54Speaker 5: Well, the rackets themselves at that time had very small
- 59:58Speaker 5: but this, this was like conn It was perfect for
- 1:00:01Speaker 5: Jimmy Connors because he hit the ball so flat, you know.
- 1:00:05Speaker 4: Uh. But it was a terrible racket.
- 1:00:09Speaker 5: But at the time was it a terrible racket? I
- 1:00:11Speaker 5: don't think so.
- 1:00:13Speaker 4: Well compared to wood you know, like when I was
- 1:00:17Speaker 4: I tried all those racks. I had Yamaha fiberglass, I had,
- 1:00:21Speaker 4: I had them all. I had the head gammel v
- 1:00:23Speaker 4: loss racket.
- 1:00:25Speaker 14: Whipping a whole.
- 1:00:27Speaker 5: Yeah, my brother used to like joke all the time
- 1:00:30Speaker 5: because we had like a number of like the old
- 1:00:32Speaker 5: wooden rackets, and then he'd had a T two thousand
- 1:00:35Speaker 5: and you know, when he would go to his matches
- 1:00:37Speaker 5: in high school, he goes, yeah, I'm just gonna put
- 1:00:39Speaker 5: like four of them in the bag, you know, and
- 1:00:41Speaker 5: show up. He did it once, he goes, yeah, I felt.
- 1:00:44Speaker 4: Like felt like an idiot, right.
- 1:00:47Speaker 10: Uh.
- 1:00:47Speaker 4: Todd's in North Carolina. What's up, Todd?
- 1:00:51Speaker 17: Hey, guys. I've been reading a lot of different things
- 1:00:54Speaker 17: about the old line, especially from Evan, and it seems
- 1:00:58Speaker 17: in a running game really needs to get back to
- 1:01:01Speaker 17: you know, North South instead of you know, trying to
- 1:01:04Speaker 17: attack the edges. And it seems to be that they
- 1:01:08Speaker 17: just feel that they don't have the linemen to do
- 1:01:10Speaker 17: to this outside runs that they're trying to set up
- 1:01:13Speaker 17: for the system. You think that they'll be able to,
- 1:01:16Speaker 17: you know, at least incorporate more you know, North South
- 1:01:19Speaker 17: type running. And do we have a fullback on the roster.
- 1:01:22Speaker 17: I'm not sure if we were not. And I was
- 1:01:24Speaker 17: really curious.
- 1:01:25Speaker 4: That as well.
- 1:01:26Speaker 5: Yeah, no, they don't we don't have a full.
- 1:01:28Speaker 16: Bet spare a lineman.
- 1:01:29Speaker 4: I mean it's not like like I know, they have
- 1:01:32Speaker 4: been going east west a lot, you know, the wide
- 1:01:34Speaker 4: zone and all that stuff, but when they go up
- 1:01:36Speaker 4: the middle they don't do that well either. Now these days.
- 1:01:39Speaker 5: They and they weren't. Like I just I think people
- 1:01:43Speaker 5: are forgetting how many broken tackles Stevenson created.
- 1:01:46Speaker 4: Right, yeah, they were getting penetration. It's either when they
- 1:01:50Speaker 4: were running well.
- 1:01:50Speaker 5: It's been a struggle. I don't I agree with Todd.
- 1:01:53Speaker 5: I don't think that all the alignment are necessarily built
- 1:01:57Speaker 5: for zone schemes. But I don't think that's the main problem.
- 1:02:00Speaker 4: When cold Strange was picked, was he picked with zone
- 1:02:03Speaker 4: schemes in mind?
- 1:02:04Speaker 5: You know, I think that's the theory.
- 1:02:05Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, But who else was right?
- 1:02:09Speaker 5: Like that's well, because that's when they were good. That's
- 1:02:12Speaker 5: when they the first the first attempt to change to
- 1:02:14Speaker 5: this style was twenty two with Maddy p problem was
- 1:02:19Speaker 5: they didn't have anybody who could implement it, install it right.
- 1:02:23Speaker 5: And that's when the whole story just came out about
- 1:02:25Speaker 5: like Kendrick Bourne's like that's not right.
- 1:02:28Speaker 8: Right now, they should have the pieces to install that
- 1:02:30Speaker 8: they just I don't know if they have the pieces
- 1:02:31Speaker 8: to execute it or at least across the board where
- 1:02:34Speaker 8: I just wonder how much this scheme is tied to
- 1:02:36Speaker 8: that outside zone that they're like.
- 1:02:39Speaker 4: Yeah, but it doesn't exist the best if if your
- 1:02:42Speaker 4: best supposed lineman is called Big Mike, is he suited
- 1:02:46Speaker 4: for this outside.
- 1:02:47Speaker 5: I don't think that's why I said I agree with Todd.
- 1:02:49Speaker 5: I don't think that.
- 1:02:49Speaker 8: They're overly suited for it, right right.
- 1:02:52Speaker 5: But I don't think that's the problem. I don't think
- 1:02:55Speaker 5: they they haven't run, you know, like like like Evan says,
- 1:02:58Speaker 5: gap and duo all that effectively either, you know, like
- 1:03:02Speaker 5: how many games have they had, Like their long run
- 1:03:05Speaker 5: has been like five yards seven yards?
- 1:03:08Speaker 4: You know Dan's and Daytona Beach. What's up, Dan? Are
- 1:03:14Speaker 4: you at the track?
- 1:03:16Speaker 11: Can you hear me?
- 1:03:17Speaker 5: Yes?
- 1:03:19Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 1:03:19Speaker 18: So I have three I have three pics for you guys.
- 1:03:22Speaker 18: What do you guys think about the grades that just
- 1:03:24Speaker 18: came out today from CBS Sports about they gave the
- 1:03:28Speaker 18: Patriots the d H for often, the D for defense,
- 1:03:32Speaker 18: and the Steve Bluff, which is an improvement from last
- 1:03:35Speaker 18: year from an F for special teams. And they gave
- 1:03:38Speaker 18: the overall coaching UH a key in minus. I think
- 1:03:42Speaker 18: those grades, in my opinion, are pretty accurate for the
- 1:03:44Speaker 18: current staden the Patriots. My second take is, I was
- 1:03:49Speaker 18: reading this report yesterday about uh a good veteran name
- 1:03:54Speaker 18: that could possibly could could could uh sense to come
- 1:03:57Speaker 18: in and help drive since he's having a lot of
- 1:04:00Speaker 18: issues with uh, you know, trying to learn on the
- 1:04:03Speaker 18: job as a head coach. They mentioned Ron Rivera since
- 1:04:06Speaker 18: he wouldn't really be, you know, interested in being a
- 1:04:08Speaker 18: head coach a really good advisor.
- 1:04:13Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:04:14Speaker 18: The last take that I have would be them adding
- 1:04:18Speaker 18: that that change in face backs that they need. I
- 1:04:22Speaker 18: still don't think they running backs that they got are
- 1:04:25Speaker 18: besides Remandre Gibson. But I don't think that Michael anything.
- 1:04:33Speaker 8: Okay, thanks for the call, Dan, So with a great
- 1:04:37Speaker 8: grades would.
- 1:04:38Speaker 5: D on offense taking laps the offense, D defense, D
- 1:04:43Speaker 5: minus maybe and then D minus for coaching and a
- 1:04:46Speaker 5: C plus for special teams. Yeah, yeah, I would say, Yeah,
- 1:04:51Speaker 5: I mean that's probably about right. I mean I think, yeah,
- 1:04:53Speaker 5: I mean plus only because of the last two games
- 1:04:56Speaker 5: with Marcus Jones's punt returns.
- 1:04:57Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, if they were three and three or
- 1:04:59Speaker 4: four and four. Then okay, you get c's. Maybe I
- 1:05:02Speaker 4: would have had it.
- 1:05:03Speaker 5: I would have special teams I don't think have been great.
- 1:05:06Speaker 5: But the last two games, Marcus Jones has been electric,
- 1:05:09Speaker 5: as I've often predicted, so he.
- 1:05:11Speaker 4: Brings the grade up. But yeah, I mean, you can't
- 1:05:13Speaker 4: argue with d's when you're two and seven, right, and.
- 1:05:17Speaker 8: There were games to be one. I mean there were
- 1:05:18Speaker 8: a couple of games they could have won too. You
- 1:05:20Speaker 8: know how much difference without to make a couple of
- 1:05:22Speaker 8: extra plays a couple extra wins.
- 1:05:24Speaker 5: Right, And that's like part of my my point, Like
- 1:05:26Speaker 5: everybody execution brings you scored. Everybody said that last year,
- 1:05:30Speaker 5: you know, like, oh, they could have easily won X,
- 1:05:33Speaker 5: Y and C. Yeah, but when you're not a good team,
- 1:05:35Speaker 5: you don't win those games.
- 1:05:36Speaker 16: That's the sign.
- 1:05:37Speaker 5: You know, they easily could have lost the two games
- 1:05:38Speaker 5: that they won too easily, right, I mean I think
- 1:05:45Speaker 5: there's a camera angle out there in the Jets game
- 1:05:47Speaker 5: that they actually lost that game. Like I'm just saying,
- 1:05:50Speaker 5: that's how close it is. You know, you win, you win,
- 1:05:53Speaker 5: you win a couple by by a blade of grass
- 1:05:56Speaker 5: in both cases, and you lose a game by a
- 1:05:59Speaker 5: heel against Miami game that you easily could have won,
- 1:06:02Speaker 5: and I'm sorry you lose two games in overtime. Those
- 1:06:04Speaker 5: are games you could have won, absolutely right.
- 1:06:07Speaker 4: Yeah, but you kind of are what you are Franklin
- 1:06:10Speaker 4: and Baltimore. I know the absence of Pepper's, Barmore and
- 1:06:14Speaker 4: Jennings have been impactful.
- 1:06:17Speaker 5: Jennings hasn't been out, No, I think you might have
- 1:06:19Speaker 5: missed one game. You missed one game anyway.
- 1:06:24Speaker 4: I know they've been in on the capability of the defense,
- 1:06:27Speaker 4: but I also think their impact has been quite overblown.
- 1:06:31Speaker 4: Those players, for instance, really didn't change the fact that
- 1:06:33Speaker 4: for the past few weeks, any team with the semblance
- 1:06:36Speaker 4: of a passing attack pretty much had their way with
- 1:06:38Speaker 4: the secondary. And I still think they have a glaring
- 1:06:41Speaker 4: weakness covering scatbacks. The focus has been rightly on the
- 1:06:44Speaker 4: offense in this post Brady era, but I also think
- 1:06:47Speaker 4: fans may need to realize the defense needs an overhaul too,
- 1:06:52Speaker 4: at all three levels. Ps I would like to sign
- 1:06:54Speaker 4: up for the newsletter.
- 1:06:57Speaker 16: You signed up?
- 1:06:58Speaker 4: Yeah, magic has I mean offenses had their way with
- 1:07:04Speaker 4: the secondary.
- 1:07:05Speaker 5: I think passing games have Yeah. Yeah, I think you
- 1:07:09Speaker 5: can do whatever you want against the Patriots. If you
- 1:07:11Speaker 5: have an offense like Tyler Huntley couldn't Yeah, but did enough. Yeah,
- 1:07:19Speaker 5: Trevor Lawrence certainly did.
- 1:07:20Speaker 16: Yeah, Yeah, it's true.
- 1:07:22Speaker 8: I mean, you know, it's just as hard when you
- 1:07:23Speaker 8: lose guy's injury what it could have been, and you know,
- 1:07:26Speaker 8: when you spend all this time lamenting what Christian Barmore
- 1:07:29Speaker 8: would have meant to this team, what bril Pepper's presence,
- 1:07:31Speaker 8: you know, might have meant to keeping these guys together
- 1:07:34Speaker 8: and maybe getting them over the hump in.
- 1:07:35Speaker 16: A couple of those games that they were close.
- 1:07:37Speaker 5: Tennessee threw for like two forty the other Yeah.
- 1:07:39Speaker 8: Right, but there's no question with a backup. Yeah, they need,
- 1:07:42Speaker 8: they need, they need to add some bodies. I mean,
- 1:07:44Speaker 8: you get Barmore back, and you got White and godcha.
- 1:07:47Speaker 8: I mean those are three pretty good pieces to start from.
- 1:07:49Speaker 8: But the edges, the edges of the defense need to
- 1:07:53Speaker 8: be reinforced. And I mean, we'll see with Jennings if
- 1:07:55Speaker 8: he's able to you know, really emerge as you know,
- 1:07:58Speaker 8: I like him as a rotational guy. But to me,
- 1:08:01Speaker 8: if you can't impact the past game, that's that's it.
- 1:08:03Speaker 16: You know, for me, it's hard.
- 1:08:05Speaker 5: It's hard Levron Gotchaw is I think a good run
- 1:08:08Speaker 5: stuffing defensive lineman. I just you know, I don't know
- 1:08:14Speaker 5: what that gets you, you know. And I think Anthony Jennings.
- 1:08:17Speaker 5: You notice, but he's a physical player, Anthony Jennings. But
- 1:08:21Speaker 5: I don't think he impacts games. I don't. I mean
- 1:08:23Speaker 5: he's played well, I might try. Like Mike had a
- 1:08:26Speaker 5: joke to, these.
- 1:08:27Speaker 4: Guys are being asked to be playmakers and they're a lot.
- 1:08:31Speaker 5: No, those two guys aren't being asked.
- 1:08:33Speaker 4: To be playing Anthony Jennings.
- 1:08:34Speaker 5: No, he's not. He's not being asked to be a player.
- 1:08:36Speaker 5: He's asked to set the engine.
- 1:08:39Speaker 4: I think dfls, Yeah, I think, But.
- 1:08:42Speaker 5: He's not like being asked to go out there and
- 1:08:44Speaker 5: play like Lawrence Taylor.
- 1:08:45Speaker 4: Okay, who's the guy on the front seven that's being
- 1:08:47Speaker 4: asked to do make plays? To make a play to
- 1:08:51Speaker 4: who's your playmaker in the front seven?
- 1:08:52Speaker 5: They don't have any.
- 1:08:53Speaker 4: It's my point. Somebody needs to step like these guys
- 1:08:56Speaker 4: are trying because no one.
- 1:08:58Speaker 5: But Anthony Jennings's role is to make plays.
- 1:09:02Speaker 4: It is right now because no one else is doing it.
- 1:09:05Speaker 4: No one else can, and his role should be.
- 1:09:08Speaker 5: I think he's playing exactly the same as he did well,
- 1:09:10Speaker 5: but that's like two years ago. Well, Matthew Judah and
- 1:09:12Speaker 5: Joshua on the edge.
- 1:09:14Speaker 4: His role should be a complimentary player to guys like.
- 1:09:17Speaker 5: That critical of Anthony Jennings.
- 1:09:19Speaker 4: But he can't be right now because he needs to
- 1:09:21Speaker 4: be the guy.
- 1:09:23Speaker 5: I don't think he's playing any different. He's doing exactly
- 1:09:25Speaker 5: what he did.
- 1:09:26Speaker 8: Yeah, they could definitely use more out of him, but
- 1:09:30Speaker 8: I just he I mean, he might be playing more
- 1:09:32Speaker 8: snaps right and people points he's playing more snaps and
- 1:09:35Speaker 8: he's got more pressures.
- 1:09:36Speaker 5: But it's not like they're sending him on these like
- 1:09:39Speaker 5: it's third and ten in there and he's lining up
- 1:09:41Speaker 5: and you know he's got ahead of steam and he's
- 1:09:43Speaker 5: trying to beat the tackle after you No, that's not
- 1:09:46Speaker 5: really what he's being asked to do.
- 1:09:47Speaker 8: Yeah, and you mean you have to know when you
- 1:09:49Speaker 8: signed him to a three year deal that this is
- 1:09:51Speaker 8: kind of who he is, you know, like, and it's
- 1:09:53Speaker 8: fine to be part of a rotation, but you know,
- 1:09:55Speaker 8: now you're seeing something.
- 1:09:56Speaker 4: I think you've got a lot of complimentary players that
- 1:09:58Speaker 4: aren't being allowed to be complimentary right now.
- 1:10:00Speaker 5: Yeah, if you see, I would agree with your thought here.
- 1:10:04Speaker 5: If people are being critical of the players, right, Like
- 1:10:07Speaker 5: if you're saying, well, Anthony Jennings thinks, I mean, how
- 1:10:10Speaker 5: many plays does he make?
- 1:10:11Speaker 4: That's unfair, right.
- 1:10:12Speaker 5: Because that's not what he is. I don't think that
- 1:10:15Speaker 5: people were doing that to Anthony Jennings like Keon White.
- 1:10:19Speaker 5: If people are saying this guy should be a fifteen
- 1:10:22Speaker 5: sack guy, he should be like Chris Jones and be just,
- 1:10:25Speaker 5: then that's not fair to Keyon White. That's not what
- 1:10:27Speaker 5: he is.
- 1:10:28Speaker 4: He wasn't. Yeah, you know, we talk about the evaluation
- 1:10:32Speaker 4: coming out of the college. That's not what his evaluation was.
- 1:10:35Speaker 16: No, No, you know.
- 1:10:37Speaker 5: So if you know, and this is one of those
- 1:10:39Speaker 5: things that if that's the way people are perceiving these players,
- 1:10:43Speaker 5: then I would agree with you. You're asking them to
- 1:10:44Speaker 5: do too much.
- 1:10:45Speaker 4: Then, But on every defense you need some a guy
- 1:10:49Speaker 4: or two that is your playmaker.
- 1:10:51Speaker 5: They don't have it. They don't have it, certainly not
- 1:10:53Speaker 5: in the front seven.
- 1:10:54Speaker 8: And especially against the pass. And I think that's what's
- 1:10:56Speaker 8: most glaring. Like I think like if the run defense stunk,
- 1:10:58Speaker 8: but you had some good pass rushers that could, you know,
- 1:11:01Speaker 8: like it would look a lot different than You've got
- 1:11:03Speaker 8: one guy who's able to set the edge, but otherwise they.
- 1:11:06Speaker 16: Run all over them.
- 1:11:07Speaker 8: They're in short distances, no way the passing defense can
- 1:11:09Speaker 8: get off the field.
- 1:11:10Speaker 5: I would say that the starting safeties Peppers and Dugger
- 1:11:13Speaker 5: and Gonzales, there are guys that can make plays. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:11:18Speaker 5: but I don't really see anybody in the front seven
- 1:11:20Speaker 5: that fits that description.
- 1:11:22Speaker 4: With bar Moore out, yep, let's see, he writes in
- 1:11:27Speaker 4: h do you think instead of looking at Elliott for
- 1:11:29Speaker 4: the draft picks not working out so far, we should
- 1:11:33Speaker 4: blame the Italian evaluators for the team if the players
- 1:11:36Speaker 4: don't work out, since they see more games of these
- 1:11:39Speaker 4: players and the coaching staff well, no, I mean Elliott.
- 1:11:43Speaker 4: They all see all the game, They see all the tape.
- 1:11:45Speaker 4: They may not see them live like the you know,
- 1:11:48Speaker 4: the area of scouts, but they all see all the tape.
- 1:11:52Speaker 5: Yeah, and that's unfair to say, like, well, it's the
- 1:11:54Speaker 5: scouts of bringing bad players to them, like they all
- 1:11:56Speaker 5: have access to everybody, right right, yeah, and ultimately one
- 1:12:00Speaker 5: guy makes the decision.
- 1:12:02Speaker 8: How much change did happen to the scouting department though
- 1:12:04Speaker 8: with Bill leaving? I mean, did it mostly stay the same,
- 1:12:07Speaker 8: and Elliot just kind of took it over, Like I don't.
- 1:12:09Speaker 5: Think most of the guys stayed like Cam Williams and
- 1:12:11Speaker 5: I think Patrick Stewart.
- 1:12:14Speaker 4: Yeah, Stewart's still here, Marshall Ooms still here.
- 1:12:17Speaker 5: Yeah, I think a lot of those guys stayed the same.
- 1:12:19Speaker 18: Ye.
- 1:12:21Speaker 4: A little over undergame from Anthony Christian more games played
- 1:12:27Speaker 4: this season one and a hey under Underkay, I'll go over.
- 1:12:33Speaker 4: I'll go over, okay four, I mean he hasn't even
- 1:12:36Speaker 4: started practicing.
- 1:12:37Speaker 5: And he won't according to.
- 1:12:40Speaker 4: Catch it today right catches by Poke rest of the
- 1:12:43Speaker 4: season ten and a hey.
- 1:12:47Speaker 5: I'm going to take the over.
- 1:12:48Speaker 16: I am two, I am two. I am I gotta
- 1:12:50Speaker 16: believe he's got.
- 1:12:51Speaker 4: A couple of touchdowns by Hunter Henry rest of the
- 1:12:53Speaker 4: season two and.
- 1:12:54Speaker 5: A hay.
- 1:12:56Speaker 4: Under under, I'll take over.
- 1:12:58Speaker 5: It's got one in nine games. Yeah, he's going to
- 1:13:01Speaker 5: have three in the last eight. I'll take the under.
- 1:13:04Speaker 8: Well, Mike gets better, I know, And I teach you
- 1:13:07Speaker 8: bucking I'm bucking your teachings.
- 1:13:09Speaker 5: What did I teach you?
- 1:13:10Speaker 16: Fall? The trends?
- 1:13:11Speaker 5: Trends, you know, That's that's why I'm driving around one
- 1:13:14Speaker 5: hundred and fifty two hundred and fifty thousand mile.
- 1:13:18Speaker 8: Trend that keeps running and it's going to continue.
- 1:13:20Speaker 5: That can't get inspected.
- 1:13:23Speaker 4: But as Drake gets better, maybe you know, maybe a
- 1:13:27Speaker 4: Hunter Henry has more chances. Maybe you know, you never know,
- 1:13:30Speaker 4: and he's got something to prove now after being knocked out.
- 1:13:33Speaker 5: Of play half of those games with Drake May.
- 1:13:35Speaker 4: No, but Drake May is gonna get better now.
- 1:13:38Speaker 5: Better than he's already been.
- 1:13:39Speaker 4: Yeah. Oh yeah, I hope so. Yeah, Sash wait sacks
- 1:13:44Speaker 4: by key On White rest of the season four and.
- 1:13:46Speaker 8: A hey, oh the rest of the see I think
- 1:13:50Speaker 8: he's got four. He hasn't had one since week two.
- 1:13:53Speaker 8: I'm gonna that's a trend.
- 1:13:55Speaker 5: I'm gonna go with the trend there too, and say.
- 1:13:57Speaker 4: Under players who end up with one thousand yards receiving
- 1:14:01Speaker 4: for the season.
- 1:14:02Speaker 5: Hey for the Patriots?
- 1:14:04Speaker 4: Yeah? Under Yeah?
- 1:14:05Speaker 5: Is anybody even sniffing that?
- 1:14:07Speaker 4: Yeah? I don't think so. A number of nods. Paul
- 1:14:10Speaker 4: gives the rest of the season a hey, oh oh
- 1:14:13Speaker 4: stop it way over that over for the Patriots.
- 1:14:17Speaker 5: Oh that didn't say that?
- 1:14:19Speaker 4: Ah, well, what if we it was for the Patriots?
- 1:14:22Speaker 5: Under Hunter Henry has four hundred and fourteen yards. He
- 1:14:27Speaker 5: leads the team right then on then no one's even
- 1:14:30Speaker 5: close to a thousand yard pace.
- 1:14:36Speaker 4: Okay, let's see lots of emails. Bad call, Paul, says
- 1:14:44Speaker 4: David in bethleem May took. May took blame by saying
- 1:14:48Speaker 4: he should have thrown the ball harder into the wind.
- 1:14:51Speaker 4: If Paul said his wife picked out his shirt, he's
- 1:14:53Speaker 4: avoiding blame and skirting disaster. Was that mean?
- 1:14:57Speaker 5: I don't know, but yeah, how you could? You could
- 1:15:00Speaker 5: take it that way? That was how Fred took it. Yeah, Dave,
- 1:15:03Speaker 5: that's how.
- 1:15:03Speaker 16: That's how Fred took into the wind.
- 1:15:05Speaker 4: He should have Well, he took.
- 1:15:06Speaker 5: It that he was blaming himself for not throwing it
- 1:15:08Speaker 5: properly into the wind.
- 1:15:10Speaker 4: I took it that he was blaming himself for even
- 1:15:13Speaker 4: making trying to make that throw.
- 1:15:15Speaker 5: I think he shouldn't have talked about the wind. I
- 1:15:17Speaker 5: think quarterbacks when they throw an interceptions shouldn't talk about
- 1:15:20Speaker 5: the wind. And just in full disclosure, Mike, I have
- 1:15:25Speaker 5: a crush, as you know, on Drake May. Yeah, I'm
- 1:15:27Speaker 5: not being critical of Drake May at all. I always
- 1:15:29Speaker 5: say like that might be the first example of a
- 1:15:32Speaker 5: minor misstep that. He immediately the next day took back.
- 1:15:38Speaker 5: You know, I might have been trying to make myself
- 1:15:39Speaker 5: feel better. I think was the way he ended that
- 1:15:43Speaker 5: like that on EI. That's all like, this is not
- 1:15:46Speaker 5: a it's not an Aaron Rodgers situation. You have to
- 1:15:50Speaker 5: do it for like fifteen years on every interception to
- 1:15:53Speaker 5: be Aaron Rodgers. Like Drake may had one minor like
- 1:15:56Speaker 5: half a line at the end of a very disappointing loss.
- 1:16:00Speaker 5: I'm willing to give him a pass on that.
- 1:16:02Speaker 4: Let's go to Melvin in Tennessee. What's up, Melvin? How
- 1:16:05Speaker 4: you doing?
- 1:16:06Speaker 5: OK?
- 1:16:07Speaker 19: What was going on?
- 1:16:07Speaker 4: Hey?
- 1:16:09Speaker 14: Hey? It was of course good thing you read Mike
- 1:16:12Speaker 14: Trey Barry. It was it was out the time in Nashville.
- 1:16:17Speaker 14: So I just want to say that real quick. And
- 1:16:19Speaker 14: then to talk on Marcus Jwnes now probably been talking
- 1:16:24Speaker 14: about him, but see him lines like he's out something
- 1:16:27Speaker 14: about like how he run and he has just enough
- 1:16:31Speaker 14: distance to not get past up and kind of lost
- 1:16:33Speaker 14: defenders to sleep and then like starts around him. He's amazing.
- 1:16:38Speaker 14: It was kind of alarming to see how, you know,
- 1:16:42Speaker 14: electric he is. But it's great to that is that
- 1:16:45Speaker 14: offense is so bad. I know, I mean fraid you
- 1:16:48Speaker 14: talked yesterday about which one DC. I guess more confident
- 1:16:51Speaker 14: going forward with and just I feel even though with
- 1:16:55Speaker 14: Jiri being there, and I know all these teams look
- 1:16:58Speaker 14: so good against us for some my reason on offense,
- 1:17:01Speaker 14: but I'm gonna gets the defense a little bit more
- 1:17:03Speaker 14: of a fast. But i haven't seen anything on the offense,
- 1:17:06Speaker 14: so I'm a lot more concerned with them going forward.
- 1:17:09Speaker 14: And I don't know, like I said, Drake, of course,
- 1:17:13Speaker 14: Drake is fine, but without some type of something from
- 1:17:16Speaker 14: some of those receivers, it just makes me feel It
- 1:17:20Speaker 14: does make me feel like we have the right people
- 1:17:22Speaker 14: in place. But I'm gonna give them a little more
- 1:17:24Speaker 14: time far I started just you know, going on a
- 1:17:27Speaker 14: deep end about him, but I would like to see
- 1:17:30Speaker 14: the rest of the year him type of get some
- 1:17:32Speaker 14: type of development. I want to get away from the Bourne,
- 1:17:34Speaker 14: get away from hunting hand and Henry support. I want
- 1:17:36Speaker 14: to see him developed something with pulp. We got to
- 1:17:39Speaker 14: get that going. If we're going to make anything in
- 1:17:41Speaker 14: the long run, they have to get at least some
- 1:17:44Speaker 14: type of deduction from those receivers so they can get
- 1:17:46Speaker 14: them the same TABE. Yeah, and that's about all I
- 1:17:48Speaker 14: get good stuff.
- 1:17:51Speaker 4: I wonder how things are going in practice with Pope.
- 1:17:54Speaker 4: That's a good question, you know, like does he look
- 1:17:57Speaker 4: better in practice? Is it well? Is you know what
- 1:18:00Speaker 4: you're seeing in practice, what you're seeing in the game.
- 1:18:03Speaker 4: You know, recently, I'd be interested to know that.
- 1:18:05Speaker 16: Yeah.
- 1:18:06Speaker 8: Bourne talked about him a little bit today in the
- 1:18:07Speaker 8: locker room and said, you know, he's got to get
- 1:18:11Speaker 8: out there today and put start stacking a google of practice.
- 1:18:13Speaker 8: But he also said, you know, he came in Monday
- 1:18:15Speaker 8: with me and we lifted together, and you know, I
- 1:18:17Speaker 8: just I think he's got the right mindset, and you know,
- 1:18:20Speaker 8: I mean to be honest, I was a little bit bugged,
- 1:18:22Speaker 8: like when they asked your Rod like do you feel
- 1:18:23Speaker 8: like he's past it? And he's like, yeah, I think'sas So
- 1:18:25Speaker 8: I'm like, why how has he passed it? Like he
- 1:18:27Speaker 8: had another game of no production, which I imagine is
- 1:18:31Speaker 8: continuing to weigh on him.
- 1:18:33Speaker 5: So I'll tell you how I took I agree with you,
- 1:18:35Speaker 5: by the way I took that as well. A couple
- 1:18:39Speaker 5: of weeks ago, I made it really innocuous comment about
- 1:18:41Speaker 5: him maybe having a mental hurdle that he needed to
- 1:18:45Speaker 5: get over and it wasn't taken well by the player.
- 1:18:48Speaker 5: And now he goes out. He's on the field for
- 1:18:52Speaker 5: whatever A handful of snaps couldn't have been too many, Yeah,
- 1:18:55Speaker 5: I don't know off the top of my head. And
- 1:18:56Speaker 5: he gets one target, no catches two penalties. Instead, I'm
- 1:19:00Speaker 5: going to sort of give him a pass for that.
- 1:19:02Speaker 5: I play good cop this week in an effort. I'm
- 1:19:06Speaker 5: not telling you that many it was right or wrong
- 1:19:08Speaker 5: for doing it, but I think that's what he was
- 1:19:09Speaker 5: trying to do.
- 1:19:09Speaker 8: Somebody did on Ei too with that, because I think
- 1:19:11Speaker 8: he was a specifically about those penalties and kind of
- 1:19:14Speaker 8: pushed back on both of them being his fault.
- 1:19:15Speaker 16: So tough, trying to make it work somehow, And I
- 1:19:19Speaker 16: think he's.
- 1:19:19Speaker 5: Making an effort to say, Okay, I offered up what
- 1:19:22Speaker 5: I thought was kind of an innocuous comment and it
- 1:19:24Speaker 5: wasn't taken well. Now I'm going to go the other
- 1:19:27Speaker 5: way and try to you know, now this one, you
- 1:19:31Speaker 5: need to embrace him. We've heard that all off season.
- 1:19:33Speaker 5: You know, you guys struggling a little bit. Let's make
- 1:19:36Speaker 5: sure he knows that we're not giving up on him.
- 1:19:38Speaker 4: It seems to be a lot of okay, backtracking.
- 1:19:41Speaker 5: You always know when Fred's ready on a.
- 1:19:45Speaker 4: It's just this is too much being said, And because
- 1:19:49Speaker 4: too much is being said, there's too much of having
- 1:19:51Speaker 4: to now clean up what was said the next day.
- 1:19:53Speaker 5: Well, there's way too much being said by the players,
- 1:19:55Speaker 5: if you ask me, I don't want to get back
- 1:19:57Speaker 5: into that argument from two weeks ago, but I think
- 1:20:00Speaker 5: everybody's a little too comfortable.
- 1:20:02Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:20:03Speaker 20: Uh.
- 1:20:03Speaker 4: Steven Austin says, I love when Carlos call in and
- 1:20:06Speaker 4: there's a lot of background noise and Fred's questions them.
- 1:20:09Speaker 4: I love how he asked them with a straight face,
- 1:20:10Speaker 4: what are you doing flying an airplane? Or the time
- 1:20:13Speaker 4: when Paul asked the guy did he drop his phone
- 1:20:15Speaker 4: in the volcano? My question to you guys is did
- 1:20:19Speaker 4: the receivers get worse every year in the past three years? Also?
- 1:20:23Speaker 4: Was Jacobe Meyers our best receivers in the past five years.
- 1:20:26Speaker 4: I know that we need a true number one, but
- 1:20:29Speaker 4: I don't even think we have a number two that
- 1:20:31Speaker 4: can get open and catch consistently like Myers did. Boy,
- 1:20:35Speaker 4: we could really use a guy like him. Now, I
- 1:20:37Speaker 4: was hearing Pope was supposed to be the guy when
- 1:20:39Speaker 4: we drafted him, but I'm not seeing it anywhere. Also,
- 1:20:42Speaker 4: I was already fired up about Drake Maye from his
- 1:20:45Speaker 4: play in the field, but he had an answer to
- 1:20:47Speaker 4: a question in his press conference about how he's not
- 1:20:49Speaker 4: going to change the player he is and he's gonna
- 1:20:52Speaker 4: make teams pay for dropping out guys, and boy, I
- 1:20:56Speaker 4: was ready to run through a wall for that guy.
- 1:20:58Speaker 4: Never felt like we ever got anything authentic from that
- 1:21:01Speaker 4: from mac Jones.
- 1:21:04Speaker 8: Yeah, there's an element of Drake. I think that's just
- 1:21:07Speaker 8: a little bit more wearing his emotions on.
- 1:21:10Speaker 16: His sleeve, and I'm not kind of telling you what
- 1:21:12Speaker 16: it is.
- 1:21:12Speaker 5: I like him. Mack felt very much that comment, though, No, yeah,
- 1:21:17Speaker 5: I want I like the other comments that he had
- 1:21:19Speaker 5: today more than that about you know, it's the league.
- 1:21:23Speaker 5: You need to you need to throw the ball, you
- 1:21:24Speaker 5: need to be you need to be able to perform
- 1:21:26Speaker 5: in the pocket more conventionally in this league. And that's
- 1:21:30Speaker 5: that's what I want to hear, because I think he
- 1:21:32Speaker 5: knows it. I think he's smart enough already to know
- 1:21:34Speaker 5: I can't do what I did Sunday and every week.
- 1:21:36Speaker 4: The AVP told him that film stuff.
- 1:21:39Speaker 5: But he also knows it.
- 1:21:40Speaker 4: Too.
- 1:21:41Speaker 5: You know, that's how you're going to succeed is being
- 1:21:44Speaker 5: able to throw the ball.
- 1:21:45Speaker 4: But listen, if if on this team, no every no
- 1:21:50Speaker 4: one can get open and you see green Grass take it,
- 1:21:53Speaker 4: take it.
- 1:21:53Speaker 5: Yeah, I would rather have him sit, sit in it
- 1:21:56Speaker 5: and like try to fight through the progression and figure
- 1:21:59Speaker 5: out where he's supposed to go.
- 1:22:00Speaker 4: He's got so much time back there.
- 1:22:02Speaker 5: No, I'm not saying never run. He takes off quickly.
- 1:22:05Speaker 5: A lot he does, and I'm not telling you.
- 1:22:09Speaker 4: Usually it's because the pocket is like this big around.
- 1:22:12Speaker 5: But I don't want to lose that element. I want
- 1:22:14Speaker 5: him to get the other stuff down and then have
- 1:22:17Speaker 5: this in spots.
- 1:22:18Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, that's all. I would prefer that too.
- 1:22:21Speaker 5: I love the athleticism.
- 1:22:22Speaker 4: I would prefer that.
- 1:22:23Speaker 5: I don't really care about the success rate right now,
- 1:22:27Speaker 5: like whether they you know it's the two and seven, Yeah,
- 1:22:31Speaker 5: I think it's much more valuable if on third and
- 1:22:33Speaker 5: sixteen he can sit in the pocket and find a
- 1:22:36Speaker 5: play to make, as opposed to I might be able
- 1:22:38Speaker 5: to run for this. Yeah, well yeah you might.
- 1:22:41Speaker 4: Unfortunately, I don't think there's that opportunity to sit in
- 1:22:44Speaker 4: the pocket.
- 1:22:45Speaker 5: Well, that's a problem. That is a problem, and that's
- 1:22:48Speaker 5: why people didn't want to play him. Well, not you
- 1:22:51Speaker 5: and I, not Mike.
- 1:22:54Speaker 4: Nolan in California. I definitely do not want already what
- 1:23:00Speaker 4: I don't want to already look ahead to the off season.
- 1:23:04Speaker 4: I just want to keep enjoying the development of May. However,
- 1:23:06Speaker 4: at two and seven, I'm thinking of how well and
- 1:23:09Speaker 4: fastly he is developing. Next season will be huge, and honestly,
- 1:23:13Speaker 4: I hope we get a wide receiver through free agency. Okay,
- 1:23:17Speaker 4: that's good?
- 1:23:18Speaker 5: Noah, Wow, Freddy's very I have you noticed Freddy's a
- 1:23:22Speaker 5: little dismissive today.
- 1:23:24Speaker 8: Well, because I think he's having trouble getting through all
- 1:23:25Speaker 8: these emails trying to find good ones.
- 1:23:27Speaker 4: Yeah, a lot of emails.
- 1:23:31Speaker 5: Mike, why don't you read tell over me? There you go,
- 1:23:35Speaker 5: very undertoned, understated.
- 1:23:37Speaker 4: Matt writes in what do you think benefits the Patriot's
- 1:23:41Speaker 4: future more A not winning any more games this year
- 1:23:44Speaker 4: and flipping the number one pick next year into multiple
- 1:23:47Speaker 4: number ones an additional later round picks. Or B winning
- 1:23:52Speaker 4: a few extra games this year and not getting any
- 1:23:55Speaker 4: additional picks, but showing some growth and gaining some confidence. B.
- 1:24:00Speaker 5: Yeah, B for sure, I have a question for the
- 1:24:03Speaker 5: and I don't know the answer to this. Sometimes I'm
- 1:24:05Speaker 5: not a lawyer, so I can ask a question I
- 1:24:07Speaker 5: don't know the answer. To get the number one overall pick,
- 1:24:12Speaker 5: trade down how we get multiple ones?
- 1:24:15Speaker 4: That's why I kind of questioned that when I read.
- 1:24:17Speaker 5: It now, you might be able to get them in
- 1:24:19Speaker 5: future years, right right?
- 1:24:22Speaker 4: Yeah, But like.
- 1:24:23Speaker 5: I think there's this notion like you're trade so I'm
- 1:24:25Speaker 5: gonna give you like two ones for your you know,
- 1:24:27Speaker 5: in a two place here.
- 1:24:29Speaker 4: First of all, they have to have to who is like.
- 1:24:31Speaker 5: And I don't know the answer. I don't know the answer.
- 1:24:34Speaker 5: Who has them?
- 1:24:35Speaker 8: Yeah, we just I don't know. I don't see it
- 1:24:38Speaker 8: this year with that, I don't want the number one
- 1:24:40Speaker 8: overall pick. I think it's gonna be hard to trade.
- 1:24:42Speaker 8: I don't think there's a player that's like that.
- 1:24:43Speaker 5: It seems not not necessarily YETI number one overall pick.
- 1:24:46Speaker 5: Because I do think that the email is right, you
- 1:24:49Speaker 5: probably should be able to get multiple let's say day
- 1:24:54Speaker 5: one slash two picks. You should be able to get
- 1:24:56Speaker 5: another two another maybe a future one, you know, for
- 1:25:00Speaker 5: sliding down a little bit. But if you're asking me
- 1:25:03Speaker 5: what i'd rather have I'd rather have might do so
- 1:25:06Speaker 5: theory of nineteen ninety three. Let's show some some progress here,
- 1:25:11Speaker 5: Let's find a way to win some games, and let's
- 1:25:13Speaker 5: start establishing a winning.
- 1:25:14Speaker 4: Culture that's more valuable. Let's go to Florida, but Toronto.
- 1:25:21Speaker 4: I'm sorry, Aaron's there.
- 1:25:24Speaker 21: Hey everyone, I want to make an observation about Drake
- 1:25:28Speaker 21: May and the offensive play calling backed up by real stats.
- 1:25:33Speaker 21: So anecdotally, though, I think Drake looks confident at the
- 1:25:35Speaker 21: line of scrimmage when he's made audibles and he seems
- 1:25:39Speaker 21: to have the quote unquote answers to the test. And
- 1:25:42Speaker 21: the stat to back it up is he hasn't been
- 1:25:44Speaker 21: called for a delayed game yet, and I don't think
- 1:25:47Speaker 21: we've had to use the timeout to prevent being called
- 1:25:50Speaker 21: for delay game. We've seen the over the past couple
- 1:25:53Speaker 21: of weeks that Jets and the Titans burn timeouts and
- 1:25:56Speaker 21: I think being called a couple of times. So it's
- 1:25:59Speaker 21: a nice kind of comparison to see there. Thinks that's
- 1:26:02Speaker 21: very positive sign of Drake's comfort and optimism in his development. Thanks,
- 1:26:07Speaker 21: I'll take it off the air.
- 1:26:09Speaker 4: Okay, all right, some observations from Aaron.
- 1:26:13Speaker 5: You are being maintained.
- 1:26:14Speaker 4: Okay, but guess what.
- 1:26:19Speaker 3: Has returned from practice? Has returned from.
- 1:26:30Speaker 8: Oh boy?
- 1:26:32Speaker 4: Okay?
- 1:26:34Speaker 6: I evn Hello.
- 1:26:35Speaker 4: A quick question before you get into all your observations. Yes,
- 1:26:40Speaker 4: during the game when you were there live, yes on Sunday,
- 1:26:43Speaker 4: did you feel that last throw by May was affected
- 1:26:47Speaker 4: by the win? In real time?
- 1:26:49Speaker 5: He said, yesterday?
- 1:26:50Speaker 4: Oh did he?
- 1:26:51Speaker 3: Uh?
- 1:26:53Speaker 7: In real time? It didn't dawn on me in real time. Uh,
- 1:26:58Speaker 7: definitely saw it on film that it died a little bit.
- 1:27:01Speaker 4: Okay, That's all I wanted to know, because in real
- 1:27:04Speaker 4: time I didn't. That wasn't something that I was thinking about.
- 1:27:07Speaker 22: No.
- 1:27:08Speaker 7: I think the only thing that I thought of in
- 1:27:09Speaker 7: real time was like he underthrew him, like, you know, like,
- 1:27:13Speaker 7: because that's not real time.
- 1:27:14Speaker 4: I was like, you didn't see that, guy, I.
- 1:27:16Speaker 7: Know, I really thought it was underthrown in real time,
- 1:27:18Speaker 7: And I was like, I don't think I've ever seen
- 1:27:21Speaker 7: him underthrow a.
- 1:27:21Speaker 5: Ball, Like I would say, both of those things are accurate.
- 1:27:24Speaker 7: Yeah, like air mailing it, sure, underthrowing it.
- 1:27:29Speaker 4: Okay. Anyways, anyway, more important, I digress. Who's there?
- 1:27:33Speaker 7: So Patriots practice today in a very very sunny, very
- 1:27:38Speaker 7: very warm day at practice unseasonably warm. It was pretty
- 1:27:44Speaker 7: good attendance, but no Kyle Duggar still at Patriots practice
- 1:27:48Speaker 7: dealing with that ankle injury kept him out the last
- 1:27:51Speaker 7: couple of weeks, and a new absence to Michael Hasty
- 1:27:54Speaker 7: was not at Patriots practice today for reasons unknown. So
- 1:27:58Speaker 7: those are your two absences. Everybody else was dressed and
- 1:28:02Speaker 7: accounted for some stuff that we can discuss on the
- 1:28:05Speaker 7: offensive line that had the media grousing, oh grousing, which
- 1:28:10Speaker 7: we do like some more rotation, and it looks like
- 1:28:16Speaker 7: the guards are going to be moved around potentially. Now,
- 1:28:19Speaker 7: I want to just preface this with you know, it's Wednesday.
- 1:28:23Speaker 7: They try out new things all the time.
- 1:28:25Speaker 4: Time.
- 1:28:25Speaker 7: We've seen some weird combinations at practice during our access
- 1:28:30Speaker 7: to practice limited in the season, and then we get
- 1:28:32Speaker 7: out there on Sunday and it's not what we saw
- 1:28:35Speaker 7: on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, So let's not jump to any conclusions.
- 1:28:40Speaker 6: But we did see Mike on went.
- 1:28:42Speaker 7: Who at left guard and Leyden Robinson at right guard
- 1:28:46Speaker 7: for the brief time that we were out there, and
- 1:28:50Speaker 7: left guard Michael Jordan. I mean, I've written about it,
- 1:28:52Speaker 7: everybody's written about it has really kind of dropped off
- 1:28:55Speaker 7: here and between Robinson and so, and then hopefully you
- 1:28:59Speaker 7: get cold strange back eventually too. The thought has crossed
- 1:29:02Speaker 7: my mind of how safe is Michael Jordan's job in
- 1:29:07Speaker 7: the starting lineup?
- 1:29:08Speaker 4: Now.
- 1:29:08Speaker 7: I did not have Michael on Winho moving to the
- 1:29:10Speaker 7: other side on my bingo card.
- 1:29:11Speaker 4: But that's where I say media was grousing about this.
- 1:29:14Speaker 6: A little bit, okay, a little bit left guard.
- 1:29:17Speaker 4: Of all the media members, which media member is most
- 1:29:21Speaker 4: likely to just say all right, I've had enough and
- 1:29:23Speaker 4: walk out on the field and start yelling at the coach.
- 1:29:26Speaker 7: I don't think I don't think anybody would do that.
- 1:29:29Speaker 6: No, no, no, I don't think anybody would do that.
- 1:29:32Speaker 5: But look, I have a couple of people that think
- 1:29:35Speaker 5: that they should do that.
- 1:29:38Speaker 6: I'm staying away from that, but one of them.
- 1:29:39Speaker 5: Wouldn't have been that practice, though.
- 1:29:41Speaker 6: I definitely understand.
- 1:29:43Speaker 7: You know, look, they changed up the offensive line last
- 1:29:47Speaker 7: week seemingly to get Leiden Robinson in there after two
- 1:29:50Speaker 7: okay weeks you know for the group, certainly the two
- 1:29:53Speaker 7: best pass protecting weeks that the group has had all
- 1:29:55Speaker 7: season long. Then they put it in a blender and
- 1:29:58Speaker 7: now you're taking your best offensive lineman and on went
- 1:30:01Speaker 7: who who's played tackle, he's played guard. Now he's going
- 1:30:04Speaker 7: to potentially flip sides to the left side. There's just
- 1:30:07Speaker 7: a lot of moving around for Mike on Wendy right
- 1:30:10Speaker 7: now too. And I'm just you know, my thoughts on it.
- 1:30:13Speaker 7: You just wonder how much he's on board with the
- 1:30:16Speaker 7: fact that they just keep on moving him inside, outside, left, right.
- 1:30:21Speaker 7: You know, it's not exactly a comfortable way to.
- 1:30:24Speaker 4: Look look at the bear. Is there anything going on
- 1:30:27Speaker 4: with their front where you would say, okay, we need
- 1:30:29Speaker 4: to move one when.
- 1:30:30Speaker 16: Year to the left.
- 1:30:31Speaker 7: They have a really good front. I mean their pass
- 1:30:32Speaker 7: rush is really really good. But it's more, you know,
- 1:30:36Speaker 7: Montes sweat on the edge if he does play, didn't
- 1:30:38Speaker 7: play last week, but he likes to rush over the
- 1:30:40Speaker 7: right tackle, So that one I can't really understand. You know,
- 1:30:43Speaker 7: I don't really see them as a team like a
- 1:30:45Speaker 7: Jeffrey Simmons or something like that on the inside that
- 1:30:48Speaker 7: is going to necessarily draw a matchup like that. But
- 1:30:52Speaker 7: you know, in pass protection, you always want to put
- 1:30:55Speaker 7: your best guys on the blind side of the quarterback,
- 1:30:57Speaker 7: and that includes that guard as well as tackle, So
- 1:31:01Speaker 7: that that could be the thought process. But again, I
- 1:31:04Speaker 7: just want to put it out there that this does
- 1:31:05Speaker 7: not mean that this is going to be the starting
- 1:31:07Speaker 7: line on Sunday.
- 1:31:09Speaker 4: So we'll see, okay. And you said it was unseasonably warm,
- 1:31:13Speaker 4: yet they were in pads today, correct.
- 1:31:15Speaker 7: Full pads, full pads Wednesdays, and they were, yeah, it was,
- 1:31:19Speaker 7: I mean it was. It was warm, like it was
- 1:31:22Speaker 7: seventy seventy five degrees like bright, bright sun right on you.
- 1:31:26Speaker 6: A little windy, little wind, but it was warm.
- 1:31:30Speaker 4: Okay.
- 1:31:30Speaker 16: You said it was Robinson back on the right.
- 1:31:31Speaker 7: Side, Robinson at right guard, who they they seem to
- 1:31:36Speaker 7: obviously have some sort of infatuation with, And we all
- 1:31:40Speaker 7: went back.
- 1:31:40Speaker 6: And forth on it.
- 1:31:41Speaker 7: And I understand that he's a young player, rookie that
- 1:31:45Speaker 7: you like, that you're trying to develop, and you're trying
- 1:31:48Speaker 7: to see what you have and as a two win
- 1:31:50Speaker 7: football team, like that's sort of the types of things
- 1:31:52Speaker 7: you should be doing. But at the same time, he
- 1:31:54Speaker 7: gets in there and he really really struggles in pass protection,
- 1:31:57Speaker 7: and you don't want to get Drake May killed. So
- 1:31:59Speaker 7: it's it's a tight rope that you're walking by having
- 1:32:02Speaker 7: him play so much. I would say until he's ready,
- 1:32:04Speaker 7: and I.
- 1:32:05Speaker 16: Don't think you's.
- 1:32:06Speaker 8: We haven't seen him at left guard ever, have we.
- 1:32:08Speaker 8: I mean I remember him right guard right now.
- 1:32:09Speaker 7: Yes, So he played left guard in twenty twenty one.
- 1:32:13Speaker 7: That's how they because they had Shaq Mason still at
- 1:32:15Speaker 7: right guard in twenty one in Max rookie season, they
- 1:32:19Speaker 7: tried on out at left guard. Think after they let
- 1:32:22Speaker 7: Joe Toney leave in free agency and Ted Carris ended
- 1:32:26Speaker 7: up replacing him in the starting lineup that year because
- 1:32:29Speaker 7: he struggled at left guard and then Carris came in
- 1:32:32Speaker 7: and that was the line Carris andrews Shaq Mason for
- 1:32:36Speaker 7: the rest of the season, and that's you know, kind
- 1:32:38Speaker 7: of when they jelled and came together. Was on went
- 1:32:41Speaker 7: on when he went to the bench. So his one
- 1:32:43Speaker 7: stint that left guard back in twenty one did not
- 1:32:45Speaker 7: go very well.
- 1:32:46Speaker 8: Okay, do you go to a new place today, Fred?
- 1:32:48Speaker 8: It seems like it takes a little longer you go
- 1:32:50Speaker 8: off the beaten path.
- 1:32:51Speaker 4: I think they try to place called pizza time. Oh yeah, Well,
- 1:32:56Speaker 4: now that the media is back together, any Nashville stories
- 1:33:00Speaker 4: from the.
- 1:33:00Speaker 7: Media, No, none, none that I can share on the air.
- 1:33:03Speaker 6: I don't think.
- 1:33:04Speaker 7: Oh they're always stories. Okay, they're always stories, all right?
- 1:33:09Speaker 6: Oh yeah, who.
- 1:33:11Speaker 4: Well, who do you think is a media member most
- 1:33:14Speaker 4: likely to get in trouble on the road.
- 1:33:15Speaker 7: You're trying to get me in trouble right now, is
- 1:33:17Speaker 7: all you're trying to do.
- 1:33:19Speaker 4: I mean, people like to know what are media contingents like,
- 1:33:23Speaker 4: you know, because a lot of people they either read
- 1:33:25Speaker 4: the globe with a herald or they listen to they
- 1:33:27Speaker 4: don't know the whole scope of the media contingent.
- 1:33:31Speaker 6: You know, everybody's very well behind.
- 1:33:33Speaker 8: I think, yeah, I would say, like not even trying
- 1:33:35Speaker 8: to avoid any I think it's a pretty straight laced group.
- 1:33:38Speaker 16: I don't think there's gonna.
- 1:33:43Speaker 4: He's got this big music thing. He's always gone big concert,
- 1:33:47Speaker 4: body surfing and all that.
- 1:33:48Speaker 8: Such a thing about Mike said, maybe a lot of
- 1:33:50Speaker 8: listeners don't know that along with excellent Patriots coverage, he
- 1:33:55Speaker 8: loves live music. Well, no one you've ever seen before,
- 1:33:57Speaker 8: except for maybe No Socks. Those two they're like peas
- 1:34:00Speaker 8: in a pod.
- 1:34:00Speaker 5: Well, they go to a lot of them together.
- 1:34:01Speaker 8: Well, we were when we were in Vegas a couple
- 1:34:03Speaker 8: of summers ago.
- 1:34:03Speaker 16: I remember we had dinner.
- 1:34:06Speaker 8: At that terrible place oh yeah, we had like a
- 1:34:10Speaker 8: big lunch or we had big dinner. Of course, tons
- 1:34:12Speaker 8: of apps. But then we walked about thirty dollars Hamburger,
- 1:34:14Speaker 8: random like just a random little person playing not in person.
- 1:34:17Speaker 16: The band playing.
- 1:34:18Speaker 8: Off to the side of the strip was like, can
- 1:34:20Speaker 8: we go do this?
- 1:34:21Speaker 16: Like he was in like he just loved it.

- 1:36:33Speaker 22: Yeah, yeah, think just this week Caleb Williams be able
- 1:36:37Speaker 22: to do a lot. How much time did you spend
- 1:36:40Speaker 22: when you look back on it with Caleb and j
- 1:36:43Speaker 22: the whole process of the spring and how do you
- 1:36:45Speaker 22: look back on that?
- 1:36:46Speaker 4: Was it a WorldWind? What was it like for you?
- 1:36:48Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 1:36:48Speaker 26: I think you know both as rookies, you know, coming
- 1:36:51Speaker 26: out as quarterbacks, you spend a lot of time with
- 1:36:53Speaker 26: those guys. We see him someone someone visits some at
- 1:36:56Speaker 26: the combine. Really with Caleb, I've seen him since high school,
- 1:36:59Speaker 26: you know, going to the same camps, was at the
- 1:37:01Speaker 26: lead level with each other. We got some college visits together,
- 1:37:05Speaker 26: so kind of the whole thing, kind of going through
- 1:37:08Speaker 26: the process again. You know, we cut up with each
- 1:37:10Speaker 26: other in college. You know, we were friends and and uh,
- 1:37:13Speaker 26: you know, enjoyed watching him do his thing. And now
- 1:37:15Speaker 26: I'll get a chance to compete. So you know, anytime
- 1:37:18Speaker 26: you're going east to rookie quarterback and in the same class,
- 1:37:21Speaker 26: or any quarterback in your class in general, you know,
- 1:37:23Speaker 26: it's it's a little extra. So well, looking forward to
- 1:37:26Speaker 26: going out there and getting a chance to you'll play
- 1:37:28Speaker 26: the Bears, or how all these.
- 1:37:30Speaker 4: Guys are doing throw up or how well have you
- 1:37:32Speaker 4: mind it? Or how these steps are doing.
- 1:37:37Speaker 26: Yeah, I think the biggest things you see him on
- 1:37:38Speaker 26: the film. You know, I'm just watching Jayden play the
- 1:37:40Speaker 26: Bears defense and and watching these teams, and I think
- 1:37:43Speaker 26: that's it's pretty cool. I think you see some of
- 1:37:44Speaker 26: the highlight plays, and but I think the biggest thing
- 1:37:46Speaker 26: to see how the overall teams doing. And uh, that's
- 1:37:49Speaker 26: the main goal for you know, really all the spookys
- 1:37:51Speaker 26: and in this classes you'll put wins win calumn and
- 1:37:55Speaker 26: you know, if we get no chance to do that
- 1:37:56Speaker 26: and we got to, we'll get some more in that column.
- 1:37:58Speaker 26: That's the most impressive thing that Kiel does on the field,
- 1:38:01Speaker 26: knowing his game as well as you do see him.
- 1:38:03Speaker 3: Knowing him for so long.
- 1:38:05Speaker 26: Yeah, I think just the play is never over with Caleb.
- 1:38:09Speaker 26: That's the biggest thing. And also I think it's his
- 1:38:11Speaker 26: talent of throwing, making difficult throws, you know them kind
- 1:38:15Speaker 26: of kind of the normal, you know, the regular eye
- 1:38:17Speaker 26: if your quarterback you kind of see like Man's that's
- 1:38:19Speaker 26: a good throw. I think, you know, watching one week
- 1:38:21Speaker 26: he's played the Jaguar of this year. He get Keithan
- 1:38:23Speaker 26: Allen kind of on a little seam, you know, back shoulder.
- 1:38:26Speaker 26: You see those like that, and like you kind of
- 1:38:28Speaker 26: you take that for granted. You know, he's just so talented,
- 1:38:30Speaker 26: and I think just kind of getting through to like
- 1:38:33Speaker 26: I said, I get to know him and seeing compete
- 1:38:35Speaker 26: and you know, we never played each other, so his
- 1:38:36Speaker 26: first time, so it'll be pretty cool.
- 1:38:38Speaker 20: It's been a few days, so you've got a chance
- 1:38:40Speaker 20: to really look at the film and reflecting that last
- 1:38:42Speaker 20: play and regulation in the game on Sunday. And if so,
- 1:38:46Speaker 20: what did you see different from what you were actually
- 1:38:49Speaker 20: feeling at the time trying to move?
- 1:38:51Speaker 26: Yeah, you know they pop cover two and you know
- 1:38:53Speaker 26: I had Hunter. You know, within the first couple of
- 1:38:55Speaker 26: seconds of the play, I could have made it a
- 1:38:57Speaker 26: lot of easier in the back end zone. So arn
- 1:39:00Speaker 26: not just making a playing keep play a love, but
- 1:39:01Speaker 26: really probably just more you no matter myself for not
- 1:39:04Speaker 26: having making the play, having to play a lot less stressful.
- 1:39:07Speaker 14: Said, he looked at you.
- 1:39:08Speaker 5: Because he had a bound.
- 1:39:10Speaker 3: If you give you a look.
- 1:39:11Speaker 5: Like, don't you a fall exactly?
- 1:39:16Speaker 4: I did?
- 1:39:16Speaker 10: What was that look like?
- 1:39:18Speaker 15: And what's that.
- 1:39:19Speaker 26: Communication Like, Yeah, I think it's a better re move.
- 1:39:22Speaker 26: You know, he's kind of waving in the back. I
- 1:39:24Speaker 26: saw him before, you know, I saw Madre kind of
- 1:39:26Speaker 26: peel back at the end. But uh, now we were
- 1:39:28Speaker 26: just laughing after the game about it. Those are the
- 1:39:31Speaker 26: things that you remember, you know, looking back in twenty years,
- 1:39:34Speaker 26: remember play like that. So it was a it was
- 1:39:37Speaker 26: a veteran move. And also just I think somebody told
- 1:39:39Speaker 26: him take hi knee, maybe coach McNeill said taking knee
- 1:39:42Speaker 26: instead of you know, waving like he's open.
- 1:39:44Speaker 18: So understand it.
- 1:39:46Speaker 4: Yeah, I figured nobody.
- 1:39:47Speaker 26: Nobody was guarding him, guarding him, so I figured he
- 1:39:49Speaker 26: probably had stepped out of bounds. So uh, just just
- 1:39:53Speaker 26: lucky we end up scoring.
- 1:39:54Speaker 16: And forcing overtime.
- 1:39:55Speaker 24: Drake character or starts now with you're looking to improve
- 1:39:58Speaker 24: on and what.
- 1:39:58Speaker 3: Do you think you can do better?
- 1:40:00Speaker 5: Yeah, affect the football.
- 1:40:01Speaker 26: That's the biggest thing.
- 1:40:02Speaker 16: I think.
- 1:40:03Speaker 26: You know, there's times where you know my decision making
- 1:40:05Speaker 26: and you know whether it's ball scary in the pocket,
- 1:40:07Speaker 26: and you know, knowing when that timer goes off of
- 1:40:09Speaker 26: my head. You know, little things like that, and other
- 1:40:12Speaker 26: than that, just taking taking the right play I think
- 1:40:15Speaker 26: is the biggest thing you're taken incompletion that last you know,
- 1:40:17Speaker 26: it's first down, known situation, or at a third down
- 1:40:20Speaker 26: and around midfield the first interception I threw. You know,
- 1:40:23Speaker 26: I think sometimes the punt's not that not the worst
- 1:40:25Speaker 26: thing there, you know, or maybe you go try to
- 1:40:27Speaker 26: make a play a check down and kind of get
- 1:40:29Speaker 26: a broken tackle and pick up the first so kind
- 1:40:31Speaker 26: of knowing the situationally, it ca almost the best play
- 1:40:33Speaker 26: for this football team instead of kind of you know,
- 1:40:36Speaker 26: kind of being as aggressive in certain situations. I think
- 1:40:38Speaker 26: you're growing that and storing these in your situations and
- 1:40:41Speaker 26: these these uh kind of in my in my memory
- 1:40:44Speaker 26: bank for times when hey, you know I did this
- 1:40:46Speaker 26: last time. Maybe try a different thing, or maybe try
- 1:40:49Speaker 26: to be more conservative, and I kind of know when
- 1:40:51Speaker 26: to attack these football teams because I'm gonna be aggressive
- 1:40:54Speaker 26: that kind kind.
- 1:40:55Speaker 3: Of over again.
- 1:40:59Speaker 26: Yeah, No, it's cool. You know, I grew up, you know,
- 1:41:02Speaker 26: my older brother Luke and Mason you were best friends
- 1:41:04Speaker 26: and got a It was pretty coul having U kind
- 1:41:08Speaker 26: of an older kind of friend that kind of went
- 1:41:11Speaker 26: through the quarterback, you know from he's from South Charlotte,
- 1:41:14Speaker 26: was in South Carolina kind of rock Hill area. But uh,
- 1:41:16Speaker 26: going off to college and going into the combine, going
- 1:41:19Speaker 26: to the drafts kind of had a guy I kind
- 1:41:21Speaker 26: of looked up to to kind of ask questions and
- 1:41:24Speaker 26: ask about the quarterback world that I knew on a
- 1:41:25Speaker 26: personal level. So it was it was awesome having a
- 1:41:28Speaker 26: guy like Mason that kind of shifted into Sam once
- 1:41:30Speaker 26: I got to North Carolina. But it was definitely a
- 1:41:32Speaker 26: pretty cool moment playing Mason and and have them growing up.
- 1:41:35Speaker 26: And I remember being you know, five and six years
- 1:41:37Speaker 26: old and he was a teenager and playing quarterback in
- 1:41:39Speaker 26: the backyard. He was throwing me the football, So it
- 1:41:41Speaker 26: was pretty cool. No, it's not not toll yeahs not
- 1:41:46Speaker 26: toall defense. Yeah, I think I think it's the other
- 1:41:51Speaker 26: Bears defense. I think they're always gonna be you know, physical,
- 1:41:53Speaker 26: physical defense. You know, the good up front, have some
- 1:41:55Speaker 26: good edge guys. Again, so like every d line's got
- 1:41:58Speaker 26: some good guys in the edge, but I got some
- 1:42:00Speaker 26: you know, they're gonna go after the football that we
- 1:42:02Speaker 26: were preaching ball security and you know, play a lot
- 1:42:05Speaker 26: of zone, so I think we're gonna have to You'll
- 1:42:07Speaker 26: find find times and in zone coverage where we gotta
- 1:42:10Speaker 26: find guys open and I kind of make guys uh
- 1:42:13Speaker 26: like yards after the catch and then they're gonna sprinkle
- 1:42:15Speaker 26: on some man, so win them one on ones. But
- 1:42:17Speaker 26: I think they're good up fronts think Edmonds in the
- 1:42:19Speaker 26: middle is a good player. And on the edge, like
- 1:42:21Speaker 26: I said, they got Montes so and you know, lockdown corn.
- 1:42:24Speaker 26: In this league, it you got to be mindful of.
- 1:42:26Speaker 26: So they can do a lot of different things. And
- 1:42:29Speaker 26: I think they they've played some good defense this year,
- 1:42:31Speaker 26: so we got to We've got a tough challenge.
- 1:42:33Speaker 20: With a bunch of erg What would you say in
- 1:42:35Speaker 20: the biggest areas and for the first five.
- 1:42:38Speaker 7: Stars, where you feel like what you put on tape
- 1:42:40Speaker 7: and where you said, okay, I've gotten better in this
- 1:42:42Speaker 7: area incrementally you go through the first ye starts.
- 1:42:47Speaker 26: I think my you know, my first and second down.
- 1:42:49Speaker 26: You know, decision makings I think been big. I think
- 1:42:52Speaker 26: where it's run checks or you know, one high two
- 1:42:54Speaker 26: high stuff, different things that we're getting in out of plays.
- 1:42:57Speaker 5: Be proud of the way that you.
- 1:42:58Speaker 26: Know, I feel like I've done well. And it's perhaps
- 1:43:00Speaker 26: to TC in the quarterback room of what he does
- 1:43:03Speaker 26: and preparing us in the quarterback room of being ready
- 1:43:05Speaker 26: and really and that thing, you know, making some plays.
- 1:43:07Speaker 26: I think that's part of my game and I'm proud of,
- 1:43:09Speaker 26: you know, sometimes extending some plays and taking plays with
- 1:43:12Speaker 26: my feet and picking up a first down on third
- 1:43:14Speaker 26: down with my feet can go along way with with
- 1:43:16Speaker 26: an offense. So looking forward to hopefully helping do some
- 1:43:19Speaker 26: more of that, and you do a better job of
- 1:43:21Speaker 26: finding these guys you know, open and let them do
- 1:43:23Speaker 26: their thing.
- 1:43:24Speaker 4: We can make it please.
- 1:43:25Speaker 5: I notice you conferred to a bunch of long yardage situations.
- 1:43:28Speaker 5: I was wondering to those kinds of get long yardage?
- 1:43:30Speaker 2: Is it more instinctive when you want or are you saying,
- 1:43:32Speaker 2: you know what, They're just gonna drop all the way
- 1:43:33Speaker 2: back and I see an opening I'm just gonna take.
- 1:43:35Speaker 26: Yeah, I think it's more instinctive things to kind of
- 1:43:37Speaker 26: feel back there. Obviously, you know, I'm I'm a pastor first,
- 1:43:40Speaker 26: you know, I want to be a pastor in this league,
- 1:43:41Speaker 26: and you got to be a pastor in this lead
- 1:43:44Speaker 26: to be successful. And I'm trying to find these guys
- 1:43:46Speaker 26: and when they're dropping, you know, when they're dropping seven
- 1:43:48Speaker 26: and rushing four and there's some rush lanes and they're
- 1:43:51Speaker 26: you know, the Titans had kind of a deepest mentality
- 1:43:53Speaker 26: to sit back and zone and kind of everybody's looking
- 1:43:56Speaker 26: at me. I'm like, yeah, go make a play. So
- 1:43:58Speaker 26: I think there's different times and times, and man, we've
- 1:44:00Speaker 26: got guys running away that you can kind of make
- 1:44:02Speaker 26: some scrambled plays. But you know, I'm trying to be
- 1:44:04Speaker 26: a pastor first and help these guys pick up the
- 1:44:07Speaker 26: first downs.
- 1:44:08Speaker 5: So thank you.
- 1:44:15Speaker 6: And now great moments in.
- 1:44:19Speaker 4: History? How are we gonna do this? Who's gonna go first?
- 1:44:22Speaker 4: I have it?
- 1:44:22Speaker 5: Mike, alex Evan, Paul frank I alex Evan, Paul fred
- 1:44:27Speaker 5: How's that?
- 1:44:29Speaker 6: What's clockwise?
- 1:44:30Speaker 4: Mike Evan?
- 1:44:32Speaker 6: It goes the way of the clock. I haven't, y boomer.
- 1:44:41Speaker 4: I look at my phone hand.
- 1:44:45Speaker 6: In your apartment.
- 1:44:46Speaker 2: That's another great moment from.
- 1:44:50Speaker 4: All right back here on Patriots Unfiltered eight five five
- 1:44:53Speaker 4: past five hundred, it's Evan, Paul, Me, Deuce, Matt and
- 1:44:57Speaker 4: the Booth talk to Patriots. Our last segment. Not that
- 1:45:01Speaker 4: we have a lot of segments, but they only have two.
- 1:45:04Speaker 5: Usually talk about once.
- 1:45:09Speaker 4: I was gonna say something coming out of the break,
- 1:45:11Speaker 4: and I forget what it was, all right, So I'll
- 1:45:13Speaker 4: just go to the I'll just go to the calls.
- 1:45:15Speaker 5: All right, Yeah, it'll come to you.
- 1:45:17Speaker 4: Yeah, go back to the TPX outline. Let's go to
- 1:45:20Speaker 4: Brad in Ohio. What's up Brad, Brad? He's gone okay,
- 1:45:29Speaker 4: No Brad. How about Dennis and Boston? What's up Dennis?
- 1:45:35Speaker 11: How's it going good? Before I get to my main point,
- 1:45:39Speaker 11: I have a comment for for Paul. I gotta tell
- 1:45:42Speaker 11: you you're in on it a little bit too. I
- 1:45:44Speaker 11: love the Seinfeld I think they're a lot more common
- 1:45:47Speaker 11: than people realize on the show.
- 1:45:49Speaker 16: Had a good one today off air.
- 1:45:50Speaker 5: Keep them up, Fred, Fred's a big Seinfeld guy.
- 1:45:54Speaker 11: Yeah, oh Fred, good, that's true.
- 1:45:56Speaker 10: I have heard you.
- 1:45:57Speaker 4: I discovered Seinfeld.
- 1:45:59Speaker 5: He did.
- 1:46:01Speaker 11: The guy Seinfeld that you Okay?
- 1:46:04Speaker 4: All right?
- 1:46:06Speaker 7: I feel like Fred could have been on Seinfeld.
- 1:46:09Speaker 4: Got that right.
- 1:46:10Speaker 6: Yeah, he's got that kind of character.
- 1:46:12Speaker 11: He got that right. And also, Paul, I don't know
- 1:46:15Speaker 11: if you know this, Kirkman and thinks very highly of you.
- 1:46:18Speaker 11: He hates pretty much everyone, And he said the other
- 1:46:20Speaker 11: day Paul Barulo was a very nice guy. One of
- 1:46:23Speaker 11: the only guys who was ever nice to be treating
- 1:46:25Speaker 11: me normally. I like, thinks very.
- 1:46:28Speaker 4: Highly Norman normally.
- 1:46:31Speaker 11: I don't know, But.
- 1:46:34Speaker 1: I don't know if Kirk normally and being a stand
- 1:46:38Speaker 1: up a hold of people, and that's what most of
- 1:46:40Speaker 1: the media have been to Kirk over the years was
- 1:46:43Speaker 1: not well.
- 1:46:44Speaker 5: I mean, let's face that, I don't know him all
- 1:46:46Speaker 5: that well. But you know, I met him a few times.
- 1:46:48Speaker 5: Seem like a guy. We actually did TV at NBC
- 1:46:50Speaker 5: Sports Boston a couple of times together. Seem like a
- 1:46:53Speaker 5: nice guy to me. I liked him. I liked him
- 1:46:55Speaker 5: a lot.
- 1:46:56Speaker 11: Still rare, rare praise. But okay, into the uh, the
- 1:47:01Speaker 11: down part about my call. I've sort of sort of
- 1:47:04Speaker 11: been building up this as a Pats fans since January
- 1:47:07Speaker 11: when Kraft let Belichick go. I kind of sort of
- 1:47:12Speaker 11: turned on Craft. I mean, always love them for saving
- 1:47:14Speaker 11: the Patriots, but I think a lot of Pats fans
- 1:47:16Speaker 11: it's to me, I know you guys, you know, work
- 1:47:18Speaker 11: for Craft and work for Patriots, and I actually think
- 1:47:20Speaker 11: you're very honest, and you don't you know cowtail or
- 1:47:24Speaker 11: anything or you don't have any directives like you said,
- 1:47:27Speaker 11: but I said, it might but it still might be tough.
- 1:47:29Speaker 11: For you to think like this that he just it
- 1:47:32Speaker 11: sort of seems like he really just wants to be
- 1:47:35Speaker 11: liked by everyone. You know, he's he's turned on his
- 1:47:38Speaker 11: friends in the past to a p CNN and the Globe.
- 1:47:41Speaker 11: You know, he didn't really defend Brady into flate Gate.
- 1:47:44Speaker 11: He just wants to be liked by everyone and kind
- 1:47:47Speaker 11: of eventually countails to the noise when people want to
- 1:47:50Speaker 11: Belichick out fired the greatest coach of all time, all
- 1:47:53Speaker 11: he had to do was say, look, we've been trying
- 1:47:55Speaker 11: for a few years. At this point, you know, we
- 1:47:58Speaker 11: think it's best to move on. Bill's the greatest coach
- 1:48:01Speaker 11: of all time. We appreciate everything he's done, but we're
- 1:48:03Speaker 11: going to go in a different direction. He didn't do
- 1:48:05Speaker 11: it that way, and I think this is a major
- 1:48:08Speaker 11: mistake to get rid of Belichick. I'll never you know,
- 1:48:10Speaker 11: have a different opinion on that they can win another
- 1:48:12Speaker 11: Super Bowl. It's not going to change my opinion, and
- 1:48:15Speaker 11: I'm willing to give Mayo a chance. But I think
- 1:48:16Speaker 11: the irony is Craft, who wants to be liked by
- 1:48:19Speaker 11: everyone's gonna kind of go into the end of his day.
- 1:48:22Speaker 11: He's liked by less people for making.
- 1:48:24Speaker 4: This move for getting rid of Belichick keeps me correct. Okay,
- 1:48:30Speaker 4: all right, thanks Dennis.
- 1:48:31Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean I appreciate his opinion, and he said,
- 1:48:34Speaker 5: you know, I'll never be convinced otherwise. I think it
- 1:48:38Speaker 5: was time. Yeah, And that's not because of you know,
- 1:48:41Speaker 5: I kind of agree with some of the sentiments. I
- 1:48:43Speaker 5: think it would have been better if he had just
- 1:48:45Speaker 5: sort of if Robert had just sort of straightforward made
- 1:48:47Speaker 5: the move. I think he did try to kind of
- 1:48:49Speaker 5: middle it a little bit, and I think that's that's
- 1:48:51Speaker 5: backfire because I think it's drawn resentment from Bill now
- 1:48:55Speaker 5: and I think his point about being liked, Yeah, he
- 1:48:58Speaker 5: has probably alienated some people, but not I don't think
- 1:49:01Speaker 5: necessarily because he made the move. I think it was time.
- 1:49:04Speaker 5: I think Robert was absolutely right to make the move.
- 1:49:06Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:49:07Speaker 5: So I mean it's hard to I mean, I know
- 1:49:10Speaker 5: it's hard to say that when they're two and seven
- 1:49:12Speaker 5: and Mayo's going through all kinds of rookie growing pains,
- 1:49:15Speaker 5: and you know, we see it every week, but it
- 1:49:18Speaker 5: wasn't people I think forget how bad it got.
- 1:49:20Speaker 8: There were two and seven last year too, Yeah.
- 1:49:22Speaker 5: And it looked miserable, just like it is now, Yeah,
- 1:49:27Speaker 5: I think people forget.
- 1:49:29Speaker 4: I think, you know, we all saw the dynasty and
- 1:49:31Speaker 4: all that, but I think there's still more details to
- 1:49:34Speaker 4: come out. There will be some other form of whether
- 1:49:38Speaker 4: it's a book or something that somebody else writes, that
- 1:49:41Speaker 4: will have more information on this interesting.
- 1:49:43Speaker 8: So I would love it, I mean and honestly, like
- 1:49:46Speaker 8: I would just love to have and I know everybody
- 1:49:48Speaker 8: will clamor for the the controversy stuff, but I just
- 1:49:52Speaker 8: like to know his explanation for why did your football
- 1:49:54Speaker 8: team end up a four win team in twenty twenty three?
- 1:49:58Speaker 8: How did you get to that point from twenty twenty
- 1:50:00Speaker 8: to that point those four seasons?
- 1:50:02Speaker 5: How why I'd like to have him honestly talk about
- 1:50:06Speaker 5: these things, you know, like so we can get into
- 1:50:09Speaker 5: the draft picks and what went into them and why
- 1:50:11Speaker 5: did they all of a sudden for five years didn't
- 1:50:14Speaker 5: have a draft class to fall back?
- 1:50:15Speaker 6: Are we talking about Bill or Bill? Yeah?
- 1:50:18Speaker 7: Yeah, I just personally as a fan or whatever, like,
- 1:50:23Speaker 7: I just don't really care about the owner.
- 1:50:25Speaker 6: I mean that, with all due respect.
- 1:50:27Speaker 4: Sports fans, we shouldn't care about the owner.
- 1:50:30Speaker 27: Yeah, I just don't, right, That's what I mean, Right,
- 1:50:35Speaker 27: The owner should get rich and enjoy being the owner
- 1:50:38Speaker 27: of the team, and fans should be focused on the
- 1:50:42Speaker 27: players and the coach.
- 1:50:43Speaker 7: As long as as long as he's he's spending money
- 1:50:47Speaker 7: to make the team better and he's putting the right
- 1:50:50Speaker 7: people in charge to run the team. Those are the
- 1:50:53Speaker 7: two roles of an owner, whether he's doing things to
- 1:50:56Speaker 7: make his friends happy or not happy. Like the caller
- 1:50:59Speaker 7: was saying, like, I just don't know why that bothers you, Like,
- 1:51:01Speaker 7: if that that does, that's fine. I just don't know
- 1:51:04Speaker 7: why that matters, Like why does it matter? You know,
- 1:51:07Speaker 7: what he does to alienate people or not alienate people.
- 1:51:11Speaker 7: Those are the two things of an owner. You know,
- 1:51:13Speaker 7: mister Craft's done a great job of that for the
- 1:51:15Speaker 7: better part of his ownership.
- 1:51:16Speaker 4: Their their job is to hire the head coach and
- 1:51:19Speaker 4: spend money when they're asked to spend money, Right.
- 1:51:22Speaker 6: That's that's it.
- 1:51:23Speaker 7: And if you want to critique him on the money thing,
- 1:51:25Speaker 7: and I get it, But other than all his relationships
- 1:51:29Speaker 7: and stuff like that, I just I don't know why
- 1:51:32Speaker 7: that would impact how you think about him as the
- 1:51:35Speaker 7: Patriots owner.
- 1:51:36Speaker 8: Yeah, let's kind of on the line of why it
- 1:51:38Speaker 8: interests me With Belichick, of just pure football, and Paul,
- 1:51:41Speaker 8: your thing is like explicit at being like the truth,
- 1:51:43Speaker 8: like be completely like tell us everything right. But that
- 1:51:46Speaker 8: to me is like, look, you won a Super Bowl
- 1:51:49Speaker 8: and then five years later you had a four to
- 1:51:51Speaker 8: one season.
- 1:51:51Speaker 4: Why how like?
- 1:51:53Speaker 8: And I think a lot of like you know, we
- 1:51:54Speaker 8: would sometimes joking sometimes not say that a lot of
- 1:51:57Speaker 8: the stuff that he was going to do was like
- 1:51:59Speaker 8: out of spite, like oh you want that, well, then
- 1:52:01Speaker 8: I'm going to do this. Like a lot of the
- 1:52:03Speaker 8: decisions along the way were kind of painted as that,
- 1:52:05Speaker 8: which maybe there's some truth, maybe not, But I just
- 1:52:08Speaker 8: I still can't quite wrap my head around how the
- 1:52:12Speaker 8: greatest coach of all time could make so many poor
- 1:52:15Speaker 8: personnel decisions over that period and not somewhere find something,
- 1:52:20Speaker 8: you know, to stop, to build off of and to
- 1:52:23Speaker 8: kind of turn it around. It just a little spike
- 1:52:25Speaker 8: in twenty twenty one, but.
- 1:52:26Speaker 16: Otherwise it was just straight down.
- 1:52:28Speaker 4: I think there was I think, you know, things came
- 1:52:31Speaker 4: to a head with the handling of mac Jones and
- 1:52:34Speaker 4: the offense, and you know, whatever the reasons were, they
- 1:52:40Speaker 4: ended up clashing Bill and mac Jones, and you know,
- 1:52:44Speaker 4: I think Bill was resentful of Mac for the way
- 1:52:48Speaker 4: he behaved in that year two and not really in
- 1:52:52Speaker 4: his mind giving Patricia in Joe Judge a chance at
- 1:52:58Speaker 4: their new positions, and so like their relationship, I think
- 1:53:03Speaker 4: fell off from there and it never got you know, healed.
- 1:53:07Speaker 4: And then I think Bill was upset, maybe because he
- 1:53:09Speaker 4: felt he was forced to bring in Bill O'Brien in
- 1:53:12Speaker 4: year three. You know, so like those last four years,
- 1:53:16Speaker 4: it fell apart. It fell apart. That's what happens. And
- 1:53:19Speaker 4: again I've said it before, the amazing thing is that
- 1:53:22Speaker 4: it didn't happen sooner. You know, us on teams, you
- 1:53:26Speaker 4: don't have all that success for twenty years and everything
- 1:53:31Speaker 4: you know, and you have that coach that lasts for
- 1:53:34Speaker 4: twenty years. And now I'm not saying everything was hunky dory,
- 1:53:38Speaker 4: but like that you make it that far. Most teams
- 1:53:41Speaker 4: don't make it that far.
- 1:53:43Speaker 10: Uh.
- 1:53:43Speaker 4: It's it's more amazing that it did than oh, it
- 1:53:46Speaker 4: broke up after twenty four years. No, the amazing thing
- 1:53:49Speaker 4: is it didn't break up sooner.
- 1:53:51Speaker 7: I think one of the more like underrated you know,
- 1:53:54Speaker 7: things that are untold stories I guess that we don't
- 1:53:57Speaker 7: talk about enough is the amount of like brain drain
- 1:54:01Speaker 7: that left the organization. While all this was happening, you know,
- 1:54:05Speaker 7: Nick Casario takes the Houston Texans job, Ernie Adams retires,
- 1:54:10Speaker 7: Dante retires, Ivan Fears retires, Like you know, all these
- 1:54:13Speaker 7: guys from the dynasty that were Bill's guys that were
- 1:54:17Speaker 7: sort of developing these players on the coaching staff or
- 1:54:20Speaker 7: picking the players in Casario's case, like they all left
- 1:54:24Speaker 7: and it kind of felt like at least covering the team,
- 1:54:27Speaker 7: that everything just then all of a sudden fell on
- 1:54:30Speaker 7: Bill And it's like, what he can't do everything right?
- 1:54:34Speaker 7: Like he couldn't evaluate the draft, coach the team and
- 1:54:37Speaker 7: all that all it was.
- 1:54:38Speaker 4: And this is where I don't know the answer to
- 1:54:40Speaker 4: but did it have to fall on him? Was it
- 1:54:43Speaker 4: his choice to bring in maybe more high priced or
- 1:54:47Speaker 4: more experienced people to surround him, Like did he not
- 1:54:50Speaker 4: want that challenge to his authority or did he want
- 1:54:55Speaker 4: to do it and he wasn't allowed to. I don't
- 1:54:56Speaker 4: know the answer to that.
- 1:54:57Speaker 7: Yeah, it just feels like those you know, those years
- 1:55:00Speaker 7: with those drafts, Like if you think about it, that
- 1:55:02Speaker 7: Bill during the season is coaching the Patriots and then
- 1:55:06Speaker 7: he parachutes in for the draft, come January and February
- 1:55:10Speaker 7: and then tries to take over the draft and start
- 1:55:12Speaker 7: evaluating players. It's like these teams are to have these
- 1:55:16Speaker 7: scouting departments that are on the scene, you know, this
- 1:55:18Speaker 7: weekend at LSU Alabama, like the Patriots will have scouts there,
- 1:55:22Speaker 7: and every other team will have scouts there, and so
- 1:55:24Speaker 7: on and so forth. And then you have the head
- 1:55:26Speaker 7: coach who's also the GM and all of a sudden
- 1:55:28Speaker 7: he comes in and is like, I'm gonna just cram
- 1:55:31Speaker 7: film for the next couple of weeks and then, you know,
- 1:55:34Speaker 7: make my draft board out of that. I don't think
- 1:55:37Speaker 7: that that's how good teams draft, you know, how they
- 1:55:41Speaker 7: build a board. Building a board starts the fall prior.
- 1:55:45Speaker 7: Oh yeah right, And I think if you have one
- 1:55:48Speaker 7: guy doing all that kind of stuff, you know it
- 1:55:50Speaker 7: did it felt like the details weren't there, like they
- 1:55:53Speaker 7: were spread a little bit too thin.
- 1:55:54Speaker 4: Yeah, so you know, and you know, and little things
- 1:56:00Speaker 4: like what happens when Robert Kraft questions him on that,
- 1:56:03Speaker 4: what kind of respons does he get? Does he get
- 1:56:05Speaker 4: respected in a straight answer or does he get you know,
- 1:56:10Speaker 4: and did that go on for twenty years?
- 1:56:12Speaker 11: Yeah?
- 1:56:13Speaker 4: I mean, while you're winning, you tolerate it.
- 1:56:15Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean you throw in there too. Josh McDaniel's
- 1:56:17Speaker 7: going to the Raiders and then taking like half the
- 1:56:20Speaker 7: offensive staff with him to Vegas. So you lose your
- 1:56:23Speaker 7: offensive line coach, you lose Lombardi, who is a guy
- 1:56:26Speaker 7: that they thought was, you know, coming up their ranks
- 1:56:28Speaker 7: a little bit. Josh takes all these guys with him
- 1:56:30Speaker 7: to Vegas. So that's another half the coaching staff that's
- 1:56:34Speaker 7: just wiped out. And now Matt Patricia is the offensive
- 1:56:37Speaker 7: coordinator and Joe Judges the quarterbacks coach, and like all
- 1:56:40Speaker 7: this stuff just kind of came to a head where,
- 1:56:43Speaker 7: you know, all this exodus of football acumen just sort
- 1:56:46Speaker 7: of walked out the building.
- 1:56:47Speaker 8: Since she's question though, I mean, certainly some of those
- 1:56:49Speaker 8: guys stayed the whole time, but like they had, you know,
- 1:56:52Speaker 8: Charlie and Romeo left, and you know they were able
- 1:56:54Speaker 8: to overcome that, and a couple of years they had
- 1:56:57Speaker 8: one of the greatest offensive seasons in football history. So
- 1:57:00Speaker 8: it's just, well, I get it's a bigger thing of
- 1:57:03Speaker 8: like Ernie and Dante and you know, it's everybody, but
- 1:57:07Speaker 8: you can lose coordinators even.
- 1:57:08Speaker 4: When you were losing Romeo. When Charlie Bill was complimented
- 1:57:12Speaker 4: for having a bench. Yeah, he's always complimented for having
- 1:57:16Speaker 4: that pipeline of young guys that started, as you know,
- 1:57:20Speaker 4: assistants and had worked their way up so that when
- 1:57:23Speaker 4: you know, these guys left, somebody would start the role.
- 1:57:26Speaker 4: They wouldn't get the title right away, but they'd start
- 1:57:29Speaker 4: in that role and then in a year or two
- 1:57:31Speaker 4: later they'd get the coordinator title.
- 1:57:34Speaker 5: And you do wonder if it happened. I mean, obviously
- 1:57:36Speaker 5: the coaching situation you can see, but like in personnel side,
- 1:57:40Speaker 5: and I don't have all the years that all this
- 1:57:43Speaker 5: stuff happened committed to memories. The timeline might not line up.
- 1:57:46Speaker 5: But you talk about Cassario, he leaves, and you know,
- 1:57:50Speaker 5: think about some of the guys they lost as top lieutenants,
- 1:57:54Speaker 5: like Bob Quinn goes to Detroit to run Detroit for
- 1:57:57Speaker 5: a little while, Monte Austin Ford, you know, goes, John
- 1:58:01Speaker 5: Robinson goes, like these are probably guys that he probably
- 1:58:05Speaker 5: had earmarked for the replacement if and when I lose
- 1:58:10Speaker 5: Scott Pioli and then Nick Cassario and my bench is gone.
- 1:58:14Speaker 5: Thomas Dimitroff even before that you know.
- 1:58:16Speaker 7: I mean Dave Ziegler left the year afgu he went
- 1:58:20Speaker 7: with McDaniels, right, And Ziegler was a big part of
- 1:58:24Speaker 7: the twenty one which is probably the best draft, even
- 1:58:27Speaker 7: though it hasn't looked great now, it was probably at
- 1:58:30Speaker 7: the time the best draft that they had had in
- 1:58:31Speaker 7: this period of time that we're talking about.
- 1:58:34Speaker 6: And then he leaves also.
- 1:58:35Speaker 5: So it's been you know, four or five six years
- 1:58:38Speaker 5: of tough drafts. You wonder if you can tie it
- 1:58:40Speaker 5: back to they just didn't have the replacements in place
- 1:58:44Speaker 5: like they used to. Yeah, ye, in personnel.
- 1:58:46Speaker 4: Yeah, instead of a gradual exodus, it was starting to,
- 1:58:51Speaker 4: you know, be more rapid fire and you couldn't keep up.
- 1:58:54Speaker 4: But I don't know. It's like I said, I think
- 1:58:56Speaker 4: there's a lot of details that we're not privy to
- 1:58:59Speaker 4: that maybe someday we will. Let's go to back to Ohio.
- 1:59:04Speaker 4: Brad's gonna give it another shot. What's up, Brad?
- 1:59:07Speaker 10: How you doing?
- 1:59:08Speaker 19: Guys?
- 1:59:08Speaker 11: Can you hear me?
- 1:59:09Speaker 4: Yeah? Yep?
- 1:59:11Speaker 10: All right?
- 1:59:11Speaker 13: Great?
- 1:59:12Speaker 18: Uh, he love to go work, you would do great.
- 1:59:15Speaker 16: Uh.
- 1:59:15Speaker 19: Just a couple of thoughts I have here, Uh, primarily
- 1:59:20Speaker 19: about the offensive line obviously, was just the most glaring issue,
- 1:59:26Speaker 19: is there ever a chance that will see City saw
- 1:59:29Speaker 19: again be able to run block even on the right
- 1:59:32Speaker 19: side of more uh? And then when will Kayden Wallace
- 1:59:38Speaker 19: be back? And is there any chance at all that
- 1:59:41Speaker 19: will see low sou Brown in a WINU and Wallace
- 1:59:47Speaker 19: all at their original position on the offensive line this year,
- 1:59:55Speaker 19: which must sounds like it might be an asking law.
- 1:59:58Speaker 19: But then my next question is, you know, so that
- 2:00:04Speaker 19: they can build continuities, do and stay keep that group together.
- 2:00:08Speaker 19: And then with the receivers, I mean, does Evan have
- 2:00:12Speaker 19: any idea what's going on with Baker if he's gonna play.
- 2:00:15Speaker 4: Or had a shot to play last game and he
- 2:00:19Speaker 4: you know, played a couple in there a couple of
- 2:00:21Speaker 4: times thanks to the call Brad.
- 2:00:23Speaker 8: I mean, I Evan's report today with him when you
- 2:00:25Speaker 8: going back to left guard was like more of a
- 2:00:28Speaker 8: disappointment for me for City because it seems like they're
- 2:00:31Speaker 8: off of trying to work him in at all.
- 2:00:33Speaker 5: Was I No, this is not a health thing for City.
- 2:00:36Speaker 5: So he's been on the active roster for the last
- 2:00:39Speaker 5: several games. They obviously feel like the guys that they're
- 2:00:42Speaker 5: playing are better than him, better options than him.
- 2:00:45Speaker 4: Finish up the show, El writes in he says, guys,
- 2:00:48Speaker 4: I'm confused about the call. He said we had and
- 2:00:51Speaker 4: fired the greatest coach of all time. But I don't
- 2:00:53Speaker 4: remember ay Andy Reid ever being here. Oh but wow, wow, Okay.
- 2:00:59Speaker 5: I did not see that ending. I didn't see that coming.
- 2:01:03Speaker 4: All right, that's gonna be it for this edition of
