- 0:01Hello there! Have you been building something and you're not real sure what
- 0:06is causing it to drag or is not where you hoped it would be?
- 0:11Welcome to Candid Coach Conversations.
- 0:13I'm Kimberly Boyd, founder of Live Life Fully,
- 0:16and today I have with me Amanda Kaufman,
- 0:18certified Live Life Fully coach and an author.
- 0:21Hi Amanda, thank you for joining us.
- 0:25I'm so excited to talk to you about this today.
- 0:28Yay, yay, yay. It's a topic that keeps coming up.
- 0:32Like whether it be coaches or writers,
- 0:36gosh, even some teachers I've heard say recently,
- 0:40you know, how come my classroom is not where I hoped it would be,
- 0:44or how come my book is not farther along?
- 0:47Coaches, how come my coaching business is not where I thought it would be by now?
- 0:51And so yeah, keeps coming up so.
- 0:54Yes, thank you for joining us and thank you for being willing
- 0:57to share your perspective on this.
- 1:00Of course, of course. I think,
- 1:02Kimberly, this is one of those questions that doesn't usually come up until
- 1:08we have a a lot of rapport because so often people do feel that they're
- 1:15supposed to be further along or they're supposed to like let's just
- 1:19say the plans haven't been working out the way they thought that it would.
- 1:22Ha ha
- 1:23And and I and yeah, it's my pleasure to talk about it because I do talk to
- 1:27a lot of entrepreneurs who
- 1:29kinda feel like either they have to give up on the vision or modify
- 1:32the vision to such an extent that they're no longer excited by it,
- 1:36or they have to accept this version of living that is full of hustle
- 1:41and grind and sacrifice and negativity and,
- 1:45you know, I I believe that you you you can actually keep the vision
- 1:49and have your plan and maybe like
- 1:55little more loosely held on exactly how and exactly when.
- 1:58Right? Yeah.
- 2:00Love it.
- 2:01Yeah.
- 2:03So tell us how, like how to keep that vision and yet loosely.
- 2:09Yeah, yeah. So I think like this is maybe getting a little bit meta,
- 2:16so you can yank me back if I if I'm going there,
- 2:19like too out there.
- 2:19Okay.
- 2:21Because I've really thought about this like very,
- 2:23very deeply. And so when we're not getting the result that we're actually seeking
- 2:28or or looking for, there's a a lot of reasons that that is happening.
- 2:33I like to separate it into two piles.
- 2:36The stuff I can control.
- 2:39And the stuff I can't control.
- 2:40And the stuff that you cannot control ends up being like this black hole
- 2:46void of energy and attention and consternation and just like emotion
- 2:52is just like And it doesn't go anywhere because you couldn't control it
- 2:54in the first dang place, right?
- 2:56Then
- 2:56Right.
- 2:59there's this the side of or the pile.
- 3:02I'm visualizing two piles. There's a pile of stuff that actually is.
- 3:08in your direct control. And I think where a lot of the frustration actually comes
- 3:14from is we mix those piles up,
- 3:17okay, so much. And and thinking about laundry piles for whatever reason,
- 3:22my brain went there. ~ what happens
- 3:23Cosh.
- 3:25if you put the red socks in with the white linens,
- 3:29right? It gets all
- 3:30Right.
- 3:30mixed up. Everything's pink. You're not quite happy with the white.
- 3:33You're not quite happy. Well the red still looks red,
- 3:36but
- 3:36The point is is it's a mess and now we've got to clean it up.
- 3:39So then more consternation, more more issue,
- 3:42more frustration. So I think like there have been many people far wiser than
- 3:47me that have said suffering comes from expecting the world to be different than
- 3:52it is.
- 3:53So true.
- 3:53And just because just because
- 3:56the world is different than your expectations,
- 3:59let's say your world, right? My world of bank account,
- 4:03my world of friend count, my world of maybe a title at work that I thought
- 4:07it was gonna have, or the performance rating of my kids that took these tests,
- 4:11or however whatever criteria you're using in your world to determine what
- 4:18is good and what is bad, like
- 4:22So much of it is not in your control.
- 4:25And the stuff that is in your control,
- 4:27we forget just how much agency we have to build skills,
- 4:32to nurture relationships, and to make better future decisions.
- 4:35So yeah, like when things aren't happening as quickly as you like,
- 4:40I think you have to look at both piles.
- 4:41You have to look at like how are you mixing it all up,
- 4:45and most importantly,
- 4:47Are you meeting yourself where you actually stand in terms of your capacity
- 4:52and your skills and your connections?
- 4:55Right? Or are you engaged in the fantasy that you can control things
- 5:02you can't control?
- 5:03Yes. It's so good. And when I think about my own life or and working toward
- 5:08a project or whatever it is, fill in the blank.
- 5:11~ when I start having, I'm gonna say doubt.
- 5:15So when I have that little doubt or big doubt creep in of gosh,
- 5:20this is taking longer than I thought,
- 5:22or I'm not good enough at this,
- 5:24and that's the reason like all those things.
- 5:27That's when I can take pause and usually it's kind of like overwhelm.
- 5:31And when I'm start feeling overwhelmed,
- 5:34usually, and I don't know who said this first,
- 5:37again, person way wiser than me,
- 5:39said if you're feeling overwhelmed,
- 5:40it's because you're overthinking.
- 5:41And when I really stop and look,
- 5:44I am overthinking. And what you're saying,
- 5:46Amanda, about this, what can you control and what's out of your control?
- 5:50~ that goes back to overthinking for me.
- 5:53Really, yes, right. If you stare at those piles of laundry for an example,
- 5:58they're not getting washed, they're not getting folded,
- 6:00they're not getting put away, they're not getting donated,
- 6:03nothing happening to them. You're just stressed by the laundry pile.
- 6:07Right.
- 6:08Right? And again, that's like not accepting what is,
- 6:12not accepting your own agency around the responsibility that you could take
- 6:17to attempt to affect change.
- 6:20And I think like we build a lot of things in our head before we build them
- 6:24in reality. And in our
- 6:26Yes.
- 6:27head, that is our perfect ideal world,
- 6:30right? Like we
- 6:31Okay.
- 6:31have all these expectations. I'm gonna pick on coaches just for a hot sec,
- 6:34because I've worked with coaches for so long and I just see this over
- 6:37and over again. The number one cardinal rule of coaching,
- 6:42and they forget it all the time,
- 6:44I forget it too, is.
- 6:46You cannot want change more than your client.
- 6:51So when coaches go to sell their coaching,
- 6:54for example, they are often really surprised at
- 6:59how the world doesn't really understand what coaching is,
- 7:02usually. Like and and they don't understand immediately the reasons that they should
- 7:08listen to you about it. So I think they get really surprised by.
- 7:12the amount of personal brand you've got to build and the amount of rapport
- 7:16you need to develop and have. And I think they get really surprised.
- 7:21And I know this like shook me to my core,
- 7:25but they get really surprised when they realize,
- 7:28my gosh, not everybody wants to transform today.
- 7:31Not everybody wants to make a change today.
- 7:34not everybody believes that that's even a priority.
- 7:37And if they believe if even if they believe the change is a priority,
- 7:41they may not believe that that priority rises above other priorities that that
- 7:46person has. So I think most coaches get like really surprised by
- 7:51the amount of rejection that a successful coach actually faces.
- 7:56And what's funny too, and I I think like we kind of do it to ourselves
- 8:00in the industry is as coaches,
- 8:02we're so positive.
- 8:04We're so helpful, we're so optimistic.
- 8:06So we like to say things like,
- 8:08you can do it, I believe in you,
- 8:10of course you can. Don't think small,
- 8:13break outside of the box. We say all of those things,
- 8:15which are true. And it is also true that most people don't understand what coaching
- 8:22is, most people have other priorities than listening to you about it.
- 8:25Most people need quite a bit of evidence and proof to be able to trust you quickly.
- 8:31And so those
- 8:33Those negative things that we don't talk about as often are not actually negative.
- 8:38This is a mindset shift. It's it's the color of the laundry pile.
- 8:43It just is. And if you can accept what is,
- 8:46this is where the real power comes from.
- 8:48And you can start getting some meaningful progress and real change.
- 8:51Is when you can accept that I'm gonna have to probably talk to lots
- 8:57and lots of people to find one.
- 9:00Who's really interested in what I'm doing?
- 9:01I'm probably gonna have to scream into the void of the internet for
- 9:05a long time before I build a meaningful personal brand.
- 9:08I'm probably going to have to learn communication skills that I
- 9:12do not presently have so that I can speak in seven second clips on the internet.
- 9:17Like that's not a natural way for people to communicate.
- 9:19Yeah.
- 9:20And yet that's the direction that we're really going.
- 9:22And so when I look at people who are really successful,
- 9:26it's not that they had the
- 9:29The world line up for them to just take all the obstacles out of their path
- 9:35and gave them all the resources that you don't have.
- 9:37Sometimes people are lucky and they do have some resources,
- 9:41but guess what? Like you probably are really lucky too.
- 9:44But are you looking at your luck properly to say,
- 9:47Right.
- 9:48like, I can leverage this capability or the skill set or this relationship?
- 9:52You know, in my case, when I started my business,
- 9:54I had a big old retirement fund that I went ahead and invested in myself.
- 9:58And
- 9:58You know, I was lucky I had that.
- 10:00And when it when I used it, it was gone.
- 10:03And so, like, luck is one of those things that we all have something that makes
- 10:07us really lucky, but not very many of us slow down to to say,
- 10:11like, how could I leverage this?
- 10:13Or will I give my permit myself permission to risk this thing so that
- 10:19I can take some steps forward,
- 10:22you know? And instead we tend to look at what everybody else has.
- 10:25And we assume nobody else has the obstacles.
- 10:28And that's just not real. But people that are very successful actually fail
- 10:33all the time. They fail a lot.
- 10:36They fall on their face. They get embarrassed.
- 10:39They have all these negative consequences that average people just don't want
- 10:43to even tempt. And so, but like when I look at how come not faster,
- 10:48I'm like, well, did you take any risks?
- 10:49Did you?
- 10:51risk being rejected? Did you risk not looking perfect?
- 10:54Did you put any skin in the game?
- 10:56Because if you didn't, I mean,
- 10:59I don't know for sure that that's the exact one reason,
- 11:02but when you pile them all up together,
- 11:04it tends to add up to that slower go.
- 11:07Mm-hmm.
- 11:09Yeah.
- 11:09Yeah, so good. And I know we were you were
- 11:11talking about coaches there for a bit.
- 11:13And as I'm listening, I'm like,
- 11:15yeah, and this applies to like all of life.
- 11:18I mean, yes, coaching was the example,
- 11:21but y'all, it really does apply to all of life.
- 11:25Truly.
- 11:27It really does. Cause like, where are you lucky?
- 11:29Already, where are you lucky? And you
- 11:30Right. Right.
- 11:32know, maybe you can use those things more effectively in your life
- 11:36and your circumstances and situation.
- 11:38And I think that obsession over where you're unlucky can be one
- 11:43of the biggest things that holds us back.
- 11:46Biggest things. Yeah.
- 11:49And then also you had mentioned skills.
- 11:51Like what skills do you already have?
- 11:53And I love you mentioned failure.
- 11:55I love well, I love the whole topic of failure,
- 11:59and we can talk about that in depth any other day.
- 12:01but really and truly, like looking at our skills or the things that
- 12:05we have accomplished, like that is evidence that we can.
- 12:09And I think it also goes back to time,
- 12:11desire, and energy. Where do you want to focus your time?
- 12:15Where do you want to focus your energy?
- 12:17So deciding like what do you truly desire?
- 12:21Get real clear, like get some clarity around that.
- 12:24and then okay, how much time?
- 12:28And what proof do I have that I can be successful?
- 12:32One of my coaches taught me that goals make demands.
- 12:36And I loved that one because
- 12:37Mm. That is good. Goals make to make
- 12:41I'm like, well, yeah, that actually really makes so much sense,
- 12:43doesn't it? Because if you have a desire,
- 12:46if you have something you'd like to achieve or become or create or do,
- 12:49you know, with your with your limited time on this earth,
- 12:52you probably don't already have it.
- 12:55And if you don't already have it,
- 12:57Then yeah, it makes sense. Like you don't have it.
- 12:59So this goal is going to make a demand.
- 13:01And I think what happens with a lot of people when it comes to goal attainment
- 13:05is they find out the price tag.
- 13:07And then they go, ooh, that's expensive.
- 13:10So I'm gonna give you some examples from business.
- 13:12because business is one of my favorite vehicles to do personal development through.
- 13:16Like my word, my life has changed radically because I became an entrepreneur,
- 13:20you know, and I've been challenged in ways that I was just never I never
- 13:25even thought I might be challenged as an entrepreneur.
- 13:26Yeah.
- 13:27And and I love
- 13:28Yes.
- 13:28it. I love the I love it as a vehicle for that reason.
- 13:31But like in business, you have this idea,
- 13:35right? Like you see a problem or a a gap in the world.
- 13:38I was actually talking with one of my entrepreneurial friends just this morning
- 13:40about this. Is most entrepreneurs see a problem in the world and then they go,
- 13:46I want to fix it.
- 13:48And that's admirable. That's amazing,
- 13:49right? Like, I actually really think that entrepreneurs and small business owners,
- 13:54they are the lifeblood of the economy because they dare to say,
- 13:58like, hey, this can be done better or this can be done faster or this can be done,
- 14:03you know, like it it's amazing.
- 14:05It's a huge engine of of our of our society.
- 14:08That being said, just because you see it as a problem does
- 14:13not mean that the market is ready.
- 14:17Or or or that your solution is exactly the the correct one for that situation,
- 14:22right? And what can happen as an entrepreneur is you can become very obsessed with
- 14:27solving problems. And so I see this a lot,
- 14:30like we're recording this in 2026.
- 14:32Right now I'm seeing a lot of entrepreneurs spending a huge amount of time in AI,
- 14:37which is not bad. I think that's a good thing.
- 14:39Use the new tool. And they're just going in willy-nilly.
- 14:43So they don't have a vision of like,
- 14:45what am I creating here today?
- 14:46Am I building a process? Am I improving a workflow?
- 14:49Am I doing research? Like, what am I doing before I open up the tool?
- 14:54~ the other
- 14:55Sure.
- 14:55thing I see is is a lot of like,
- 14:57I need to be visible. And there's a lot of people really working hard
- 15:01on visibility right now. And I gotta tell you,
- 15:03they're not even in business and they're working hard on visibility because people
- 15:09want visibility for a lot of reasons.
- 15:11So then you're in that entrepreneurial mindset,
- 15:13right? Like I gotta I gotta solve the problem of visibility.
- 15:16The problem is I'm not Tom Cruise famous,
- 15:19right? The problem is I'm not famous like this guru that I admire.
- 15:23And it's like, well, that may be a prop a problem,
- 15:26but is that your problem? Is that the problem that is truly standing
- 15:33in the way right now of your greatest vision?
- 15:37And so often when I'm coaching with people,
- 15:39we find out very, very quickly that the time and energy,
- 15:43attention and emotional energy that they're putting into their business
- 15:46is to solve problems that won't make them more money,
- 15:50won't get them more opportunities to get leads,
- 15:54won't get them more skills or more recommendations.
- 15:58They're doing things that they think they should do because it's a problem.
- 16:02And I saw I saw a funny reel the other day where it was like,
- 16:05Somebody was neurodivergent and listening to a doctor that was specializing
- 16:09in it and everything. And he said,
- 16:11just because it's problem-shaped does not mean that it's a problem for you to solve.
- 16:16And I was like, Wow, okay. So I have my theories about neurodivergence
- 16:20and entrepreneurship. Pretty sure there's a pretty high incidence
- 16:22of neurodivergence and entrepreneurship.
- 16:24But yeah, like just because it's problem shaped doesn't make it a problem that
- 16:28you need to put your resources and attention towards.
- 16:31So, you
- 16:31Sure.
- 16:31know, and even coming out of entrepreneurship,
- 16:33talking to the teacher.
- 16:34Who's frustrated that the kids aren't maybe scoring as high or the
- 16:39the school's not doing as well as you want it to?
- 16:41My heart goes out to you, of course,
- 16:43on that. And you are one person in this system.
- 16:47So what
- 16:48Right.
- 16:49is the stuff that you can control?
- 16:51It's the hours between when the bell rings and when when the bell rings
- 16:56as much as possible. And I know teachers,
- 16:58they give way more than that. And you are still one human being.
- 17:02in a larger society in a larger system.
- 17:04So getting much more clear about okay,
- 17:07I may not be able to solve the,
- 17:09you know, capital T H E problem.
- 17:13And in my area of influence,
- 17:17what are the dilemmas or challenges that are the most meaningful that if
- 17:22I worked on those things, I'm going to have the most impact towards that thing.
- 17:27And
- 17:28Mm-hmm.
- 17:28that's that's how you decide what to work on.
- 17:31Love it.
- 17:32Mm-hmm.
- 17:34So good. So when you find yourself in that
- 17:40I'm gonna say overwhelm or that la world,
- 17:43that would be my world.
- 17:45Yeah.
- 17:46How you catch yourself?
- 17:48I'll I'll be so honest, sometimes I don't.
- 17:51Say that's
- 17:52why I was hoping you would like help the girl out here.
- 17:55Sometimes I don't,
- 17:56right? Yeah. So, and I mean you're you're you're a genius at at at
- 18:00you know brain coaching and and therapy and all that stuff.
- 18:03Honestly, you're probably even more ~ qualified to to answer this,
- 18:07but I'm just gonna say from my own experience,
- 18:08I don't get a lot to say about how I feel at first,
- 18:13right? Like when when something happens,
- 18:15or I kind of get that presence of like holy Toledo.
- 18:19I am having a hard time actually breathing right now,
- 18:22you know, because it's just like that is the experience.
- 18:26Yes.
- 18:26I didn't decide to have that experience,
- 18:29you know. It really is more of like a open my eyes and realize,
- 18:32holy cow, I'm in a flat panic and I can't like what what is actually happening?
- 18:38So so for me, it's just like really finding out that I'm in the spiral and
- 18:44the way I usually find out is I'm actually already on the way out.
- 18:48So that's for me. And I do have some practices that help me get out faster.
- 18:53So one of the ~ one of the practices that I have is I journal every
- 18:59day anyway. And what that does is if I have let's just say ~ I've
- 19:06got a particularly stressful period and I'm writing down every day,
- 19:11whoa, today was really stressful because,
- 19:13whoa, today was really stressful because.
- 19:16today was really stressful because and I can like see that I am writing
- 19:20it down three days in a row. I'm going like,
- 19:23wait, hang on a second. Now, the I think what really makes this work is that
- 19:28I do it rain or shine, regardless of weather.
- 19:31So I used to journal only when I was pissed off.
- 19:34And I mean, hey, start where you are.
- 19:37It was a super helpful tool when I was feeling a lot of feelings and
- 19:41I wanted to process those feelings.
- 19:43But when the game changed for me was when I made it into a practice regardless.
- 19:47And when I say journal, sometimes it's literally one word because that's
- 19:52the energy we have today. ~ but it gives me this habit of noticing every
- 19:58day where I'm at emotionally and spiritually and otherwise,
- 20:02so that I can start to disrupt the pattern.
- 20:05I think the second big tell is actually relationships.
- 20:09So if I'm finding that people around me are kind of like,
- 20:12you know, starting to kind of get a little wide-eyed at me,
- 20:15and it's like, did you you okay?
- 20:18You okay? Right? Like you need people around you that are like,
- 20:21You okay? that will call you out on your bullshit,
- 20:23which honestly, like I didn't have a lot of that for like a lot of my life.
- 20:28So so one of the biggest things about entrepreneurship I've really appreciated.
- 20:33Is that it has opened the door to more high quality relationships where people
- 20:38notice it's like, hey, you've been kind of quiet,
- 20:40or hey, you know, you seem so happy.
- 20:44And no, you seem kind of like you're not.
- 20:46Has anything changed? And having people actually ask you that question
- 20:50and pause to hear the answer, that's like life game-changing stuff.
- 20:55But it really helps me stay out of that sensation.
- 20:58And the third tactic.
- 21:00And I I don't know how you're gonna feel about this one,
- 21:03is I I have largely banned the word overwhelm.
- 21:07~ love that.
- 21:09I have.
- 21:10Yeah, I know I know like you're you're big into language.
- 21:13The reason I banned the word overwhelm is because
- 21:18I would prefer to use more more specific language to describe
- 21:24the feeling I'm having. And what I found out with overwhelm for
- 21:28me was that sometimes I was using it when I meant that I was in kind
- 21:32of a depressive sort of a state where I was having a hard time motivating.
- 21:37And sometimes I was using it when I was in more of an anxious state where
- 21:40I was perhaps hyper-vigilant or like overactivated.
- 21:44And I was using the same word to describe both states.
- 21:47Now, both
- 21:48Yes.
- 21:49states stop me from making progress,
- 21:51right? So
- 21:52Yes.
- 21:53it's helpful to have a word versus saying I feel good or I feel bad.
- 21:57Overwhelmed better than that. But I challenged myself to say,
- 22:00like, and how are you really feeling?
- 22:03Because
- 22:04When I could do that, let's just say it's more of a motivation issue,
- 22:08more of like a depressive thing.
- 22:10I can go, wait a second. I can address that usually through physiology.
- 22:15Actually, I'll go for a walk, I'll hydrate,
- 22:17I'll have a nap, right? Like the the answer is high quality recentering.
- 22:24Yes.
- 22:24If
- 22:25if the overwhelm I'm experiencing is more like a hypervigilance,
- 22:28what's happening is my brain is catastrophizing about the future.
- 22:32Ha
- 22:32ha ha.
- 22:33And
- 22:33like really fixating on whatever seems really important to me at that time,
- 22:37right? So the solution to that isn't necessarily to sit,
- 22:41because if I sit in that, it goes.
- 22:43So
- 22:43Yeah.
- 22:44what I do instead is if I can identify like I'm really usually anxiety
- 22:49and frustration to me, like they go hand in hand.
- 22:52It's like I'm really frustrated.
- 22:53What's frustrating you or what's scaring you?
- 22:55What are you worried about? And
- 22:57I really slow that down to answer the question fully.
- 23:01I call it staring down the bear.
- 23:02With depression, staring down the bear is actually really bad.
- 23:06~ because I'm ruminating, I'm fixating on the thing.
- 23:07Right. Yes.
- 23:10But
- 23:10when I'm when I'm really like hyper-vigilant,
- 23:13staring down the bear to me is naming the fear.
- 23:16What am I afraid is gonna happen?
- 23:18And then what does that mean?
- 23:22And then what does that mean about
- 23:23Yes.
- 23:24me?
- 23:25And when I get all the way to the end of that,
- 23:27I realize number one, the thing I'm worried about probably isn't even a thing.
- 23:30Number two, the thing that I'm worried about,
- 23:33even if it is a thing, it's a thing I can totally handle.
- 23:35Right. And I can kind of come back to center.
- 23:38So either way, if you're in an overwhelmed state,
- 23:41it really is building the skills and tool sets for you to get back to center
- 23:46so that you can make higher quality decisions from there.
- 23:49Yeah, so good. And I love that you said that about overwhelm.
- 23:52and as you were talking, I'm like,
- 23:54~ first of all, love it that you've identified that it was like this overarching
- 23:59for two different things.
- 24:00It was like a
- 24:00big crazy storm cloud.
- 24:03Yes. And so when I think about overwhelm,
- 24:06mine is it's more of the anxious route of the uncertainty and am I can I
- 24:10get it all finished or there's so many balls in the air and so it is.
- 24:15It's about that anxious piece.
- 24:16So ~ yeah, so if you're listening and if you do use the word overwhelm,
- 24:21really identify
- 24:22how you're using it and what it means.
- 24:24The other thing that I love, of course,
- 24:26is that you talked about journaling because yes,
- 24:29anytime, rain or shine, it is so important.
- 24:32And for me in my practice of journaling,
- 24:35if I do write down about a stressful anything,
- 24:37I and I don't use always a never a whole lot.
- 24:41And I always, if I've written down a stressful thing,
- 24:45I really work really hard to
- 24:49write out three positive things.
- 24:51Positive or three gratitudes.
- 24:56Because I do
- 24:57Mm.
- 24:58want to offset. I don't want to program my brain to only look for the negative.
- 25:02I want to program my brain to focus on the gratitude and the more joyful events
- 25:08in my life. The other thing
- 25:09I
- 25:10love that practice. That's such a great
- 25:12Yeah.
- 25:13ad.
- 25:14What it's so it's helpful. And when we focus on gratitude every single day,
- 25:20side note, as a brain health coach,
- 25:22You lower your risk of Alzheimer's and dementia.
- 25:25So brewing on the gratitude.
- 25:29The other thing like to catch myself is I do some planning and preparing.
- 25:34So yes to the journal. If I'm gonna start a new project,
- 25:37focusing on a new event, whatever it may be,
- 25:41I do sit down with list of questions,
- 25:43one of which, okay, what is it that I want to work on?
- 25:45Duh. And then what could get in the way and how will I know when
- 25:52the whatever it is that I think will get in the way,
- 25:54like how will I catch myself?
- 25:56And I picture myself standing at the beach and the water's coming in
- 26:01and it's going in and out over my feet.
- 26:03But sometimes, I don't know what happens out there,
- 26:05but sometimes a big thing, I can stand in the exact same place,
- 26:09and all of a sudden the water's hitting my knees.
- 26:12And I'm like, what in the world?
- 26:14So I want to be able to catch whatever it is before it gets up to
- 26:18my knees and certainly before it gets to my waist.
- 26:20So
- 26:21I do some
- 26:21Mm.
- 26:21pre-planning and then I check in every week.
- 26:24How is this project going? Or how is this going?
- 26:27Whatever it is. How is it going?
- 26:30And where's that water? Am I drowning?
- 26:33So
- 26:34That's so good. That's so good.
- 26:36Yeah. And and I I love that metaphor.
- 26:39And what came up for me as you talked about it was being so thoughtful about
- 26:43the water, that situation, the challenges,
- 26:47the things that you're not feeling are moving fast enough or big enough in impact.
- 26:51You're starting to feel that sensation of getting knocked around or
- 26:55or drowning by it. Like checking in that it's yours.
- 27:00That is fully yours. Cause I think it's a wonderful thing to want the world
- 27:05to be better. I want the world to be so much better,
- 27:07you know? And we all form these opinions about the world will be better if.
- 27:12And the world is full of eight billion people.
- 27:15It is not your sole responsibility to correct the wrongs of society,
- 27:21right? And I know that that's like a really big thing to say.
- 27:25And it feels important to share because I think that a
- 27:28Sure.
- 27:29lot of people really are starting to feel like they're getting carried away
- 27:32by this current. And what's happening is you're you're simply noticing what
- 27:37was probably already there. It's just
- 27:39Hmm.
- 27:40that now you're spending an hour or two hours with it in your phone five seconds
- 27:45at a time and getting freaked out by these feeds and and all stuff that
- 27:49is designed to, guess what, freak you out.
- 27:52So I hope that you enjoy these podcasts because they're really meant
- 27:56and designed to lift you up and remind you of who you are.
- 27:59And yeah, I mean, if it's a big enough thing that you wanna do,
- 28:03don't do it alone. You can't. You're not designed to.
- 28:05Right. my gosh. Exactly.
- 28:07You're not supposed to. Yeah.
- 28:10Yes. So good. Okay, Amanda. So I'm so glad you joined us.
- 28:14And if you could leave everybody with one parting thought,
- 28:18what would it be today?
- 28:20My thought for you today is that if you judge yourself
- 28:25for not being there faster or sooner or better,
- 28:29just take a deep breath and recenter yourself.
- 28:32I promise you you're exactly where you're supposed to be on your journey.
- 28:35And it's absolutely perfect. And you're gonna be,
- 28:39you're gonna be just fine. Just like keep going and you know,
- 28:43keep trusting yourself to grow and you're gonna get to incredible places.
- 28:47You just gotta keep.
- 28:48on going.
- 28:50Yes. So good. Love it. Thank you,
- 28:53Amanda, for joining us today. And everyone,
- 28:56remember to live life fully and enjoy every moment.
- 28:59We'll see you soon.
