- 0:09that's still very loud. No one's complained yet, so I
- 0:12know. But I should.
- 0:14Actually will complain. Why can't I remember Luke?
- 0:18Why can't I remember to adjust that anyway?
- 0:22I'd like to apologize. Well, I'm not apologizing.
- 0:25I'm apologizing on behalf of a company.
- 0:27Why there was no podcast last week?
- 0:29OK, go on. My Internet provider was down
- 0:32for two days. Who's your in my building
- 0:34anyway? Who's?
- 0:35Your Internet provider. Iinet.
- 0:37All right, so please direct your rage.
- 0:41At iinet. They used to be good.
- 0:44I well, when I was in the country they were.
- 0:47I used to quite like them because they were very much
- 0:49Australian, like Australian call centres, fast response and I
- 0:53think it was TPG brought them out.
- 0:56Right. And so everything's been
- 0:58outsourced and I remember, yeah, they're not as good as they used
- 1:01to be. And I remember TPG being cheap.
- 1:05That's what I remember TPG. And cheap normally means cutting
- 1:09corners. Yeah.
- 1:11Yep. So I want my building doesn't
- 1:14have NBN and I want to go back to Aussie Broadband and it sucks
- 1:17because NBN must do. I thought they made sort of a
- 1:21law or a rule that any new buildings had to have NBN.
- 1:25All right. And so when I moved into this
- 1:27building, I knew it was only built like five years ago.
- 1:30So I've got, yeah, don't have NBN, like no issue.
- 1:34No, it appears the buildings on either side that were built
- 1:37before and after my apartment block have NBN, just my block
- 1:42does not. That's annoying.
- 1:44You even look at the NBN map and it's just my bit in all of the
- 1:48place I live is grayed out. I think maybe it doesn't work
- 1:54this way. I feel like we paid a little bit
- 1:56extra, Dan and I, when we lived in in Auburn, because our
- 2:00building was our building didn't have it or just our apartment
- 2:04didn't have it running to it. And I didn't have been in a
- 2:08building. And if everyone agrees, you can
- 2:11sort of yeah to get it running in.
- 2:14I feel like I did something and I got it put in for us like but
- 2:17it had to have been outside. Presumably it must be for you if
- 2:19it's in the other buildings. Oh, it's yeah, it's just weird.
- 2:23And to every now and again they will put a vote up.
- 2:28Supposedly I've gone through the minutes of the meetings to go.
- 2:32They did a vote like a couple of years ago to go.
- 2:34Hey, I'm. Certain they're voting no.
- 2:36And, well, they need a certain amount of people to vote yes,
- 2:39and most people don't care. Oh.
- 2:41I see. Yeah, right.
- 2:44I care does. It cost the building money to do
- 2:48it. Yeah, they have to pay to get
- 2:50the power, so that's why we have to vote.
- 2:53But it's sort of like I don't understand why it doesn't have
- 2:55it to begin with. Yeah.
- 2:57It would have been cheaper to do it then than it would be now.
- 3:00All. Right.
- 3:01So what you're saying is, as always, it's not your fault.
- 3:04It's never my fault. I try my best but it's not my
- 3:08fault. I was awake and I was in this
- 3:11chair and you were not here. I was awake.
- 3:15I didn't say you weren't, but you weren't here.
- 3:17Here being this room on stream yard.
- 3:20Actually, what I ended up doing once I sort of gave up on the
- 3:24Internet coming back, I went to the pub.
- 3:27Right. And then I stayed there to
- 3:28closing and then I had a horrible Sunday.
- 3:35Right. Horrible day.
- 3:37I did not go to the pub because it was 7:00 AM as it is now.
- 3:41There's nothing wrong going to the pub at that time.
- 3:44Well, if you work night shift. First of all, we don't have pubs
- 3:46and second, they wouldn't be open so.
- 3:50No, I used to remember having to go looking at the pubs when I
- 3:53worked night shift. Oh yeah.
- 3:56I knew where they were because sometimes you go for you'd want
- 4:00to go for a drink after work with people.
- 4:02And people do look at you a bit weird when you walk into a place
- 4:05at 7:00 in the morning after a beer.
- 4:09And there'd be sometimes I'd be home and there'd be people
- 4:11knocking on the door. I'd answer with a beer in my
- 4:13hand and they'd give me a look like, it's very early in the
- 4:16morning and I go, well, yeah, I've been awake all night.
- 4:19Yeah, this is my after work. I'm winding down.
- 4:22And also even if I hadn't, I would be still be having a beer
- 4:26at this time I. Don't need to get into that.
- 4:30I'm on vacation. I love.
- 4:35That's what I loved about Vietnam, because the beers were
- 4:37so cheap and everyone knew Luke would have his bus beer, his
- 4:40train beer, like he's walking beer.
- 4:42Luke would have a beer in his handy.
- 4:44Yeah. Yeah, yeah, you'd pre emptively
- 4:46set it up so you don't have to feel bad.
- 4:47Everyone just knows it's a thing.
- 4:49It's a thing. It's Luke.
- 4:51It's fine. I'm not an alcoholic, I'm just
- 4:53charming. Yes, yeah, I don't get silly
- 4:57drunk that often. No, that's true.
- 4:59That's. Because you're our time.
- 5:04I'm normally good now. The time I get silly drunk is
- 5:07when I'm drinking with people now.
- 5:09Yeah, yeah. So I tend to drink alone and I
- 5:14don't get silly. That's how that works.
- 5:18It sounds good and wholesome yes, we've got lots of news this
- 5:24week because we didn't talk about anything last week.
- 5:27So some of this might be a little out of date, but we can
- 5:30still talk about things. What have you?
- 5:32What have you got for us this week, Luke?
- 5:33I know you've. So when Asha Sharma took over
- 5:39Xbox, everyone was worried about her taking over.
- 5:43But I think a lot of people are starting to come around to she's
- 5:46made a lot of changes very quickly.
- 5:48I mean, I've seen some what I would consider positive stuff.
- 5:51Yeah, with the. Price stuff and all that so.
- 5:53And yeah, the price stuff that revamping the achievements and
- 5:57which is giving people in the achievement community hope that
- 6:00they're going to do a bit more with that, not just change how
- 6:03they come up. But one thing people were
- 6:05worried about because she came from the AI side of Microsoft,
- 6:09that she was going to force AI into Xbox and everything.
- 6:13Yeah, I don't know what you would do, but they were worried
- 6:15she was going to do something. Yes.
- 6:17And well, that actually already announced that Copilot was going
- 6:20to be coming to Xbox. OK, so you could say K Copilot
- 6:25get me this achievement and it. Was I was not get what Hey can
- 6:28you give me help on this or get a tip or so I don't quite know
- 6:32what it was it would just. Make some shit up.
- 6:34Yes, but evidently she's stopping that.
- 6:39All right, As in it was a thing that was going to happen and
- 6:43she's, oh, it was. 100% going to happen until she took over.
- 6:46Like they only announced it in March this year that it seems
- 6:50like coming to Xbox. I don't know whether it's that
- 6:53she's got, you know, the same taste as as ours or, or, you
- 6:59know, the Xbox games or is it she's just really good at seeing
- 7:03what's the reaction been to this stuff and then responding in a
- 7:05way that they haven't previously.
- 7:07Yeah, well, one thing she says she's very community driven.
- 7:10Yeah, OK. It's.
- 7:11Not just paying attention. So it's either that or they held
- 7:15off a lot of changes that they had ready to go until she took
- 7:19over, and then they're making a lot of changes that they've been
- 7:22sitting on to make it look so to make a replacement.
- 7:25Yeah, but I don't think so. I hope that's not the case.
- 7:28I really do hope that she is very much about the community
- 7:32and it does seem that way. So.
- 7:34Yeah, like with the price coming down, thumbs up.
- 7:37Yeah, no copilot thumbs up. What?
- 7:39What do we need that for? We don't.
- 7:41Yeah, I didn't didn't know how that was going to use work, but
- 7:45I was worried about it being there because it just means this
- 7:47Copart will debt be constantly running, just taking up hardware
- 7:52that I don't want it to. Apparently it is on Windows now,
- 7:55so I've so I've heard. OK, I know I use Chrome and I've
- 7:59got Gemini. Yeah, I've got.
- 8:02Built into Chrome, you can't get.
- 8:03Away from them now I know and Chrome keeps telling me, oh, why
- 8:06don't you try AI enhanced search?
- 8:07And I'm like, I thought I was because every time I type
- 8:09something you give me some fucking.
- 8:11Maybe it's true, maybe it's not true result.
- 8:14I thought that's what Google was always doing.
- 8:17Like Google knows what I'm searching before even I even I
- 8:20even don't quite know. Like because now when I search
- 8:23something on Google, I get the search results if I Scroll down,
- 8:27but at the top it's got that Google AI summary.
- 8:29And like that's kind of useful, but you have to check it because
- 8:35it makes stuff up sometimes. And like it's, I don't.
- 8:38Know I have been saying that where it'll give you a sort of a
- 8:40brief description of what you just searched.
- 8:43Now, what is, you know, tell me about, I don't know, some you
- 8:45tell me about Xbox achievements or whatever and it'll give you
- 8:48an AI summary at the top. And it's like, yeah, that's
- 8:51cool. I can't trust it though.
- 8:55No, like it might get things wrong because it has done so.
- 8:59I don't know. It's weird.
- 9:00And then but and the problem is just people don't check, they
- 9:04will just read that and go, Yep, we're done, not go and verify
- 9:07the sources of telling you're training from.
- 9:09Yeah. And then at some point when
- 9:10they're training the AIS and they're going to train it on
- 9:13that stuff. And so it's going to compound
- 9:16the incorrectness of things. Yes, I don't know.
- 9:21But anyway, we don't need. One thing one thing I think they
- 9:25should do is just block it from reading from Facebook.
- 9:29Yeah, we don't want it learning anything from Facebook.
- 9:31We don't want it learning anything from Facebook, Twitter,
- 9:34no, whatever the Trump one truth, is it true social, True
- 9:39social rumble? Any of them?
- 9:40Any of them. Yeah, because blue skies.
- 9:43Blue skies got similar problems on the other end of the
- 9:45spectrum. Like make sure you just take no
- 9:48information from them and I think it'll learn better.
- 9:51Yeah. So but now I'm excited for that.
- 9:55I'm excited that. You're excited for there to not
- 9:58be anything that changes. Yes, yeah.
- 10:03That's good. Bad console news.
- 10:10Bad. Bad console news for those who
- 10:12don't own a Switch to and want 1 is that it's getting more
- 10:17expensive. I'm going to guess because of
- 10:21AI. Yep, because of the the RAM
- 10:25shortage and everything the switch to here in the US is
- 10:28going up by 50 bucks which is a lot considering it's only what
- 10:33405 hundred bucks? I forget exactly, but I.
- 10:37Got to remember a lot of these companies like Nintendo, Xbox,
- 10:41they're not making their money off the consoles.
- 10:43Like they've got a very small margin on them, if any.
- 10:46Nintendo's apologized and said we're so sorry, we have to, we
- 10:51have to put the price up. We can't eat this cost anymore.
- 10:57So then Switch 2 is getting more expensive, and also the PS-5 has
- 11:03gotten more expensive and apparently sales of it have
- 11:05plummeted because it's. Really.
- 11:09Yeah, it's expensive and people just yeah.
- 11:13Also, I think people are being more careful about buying stuff
- 11:17at the moment. Because it's yeah across the
- 11:20ball and everything's getting a bit.
- 11:23What's just we're unsure what's what's going on.
- 11:26Yes, well, I know like our mortgage rates are going up
- 11:31constantly. Oh, really?
- 11:33Yep, when they were starting to come down, they're just now
- 11:36they're going back up because everything is and they're trying
- 11:40to slow down spending and no one can afford petrol.
- 11:45Is right US 6.34 and 6.45 yeah. So I mean that to me that's
- 11:51high, but what are the rates in Australia, mortgage rates
- 11:56Australia I have. No idea.
- 11:59Let's see, Commonwealth Bank says home loan rates are OK,
- 12:04they're similar. Yeah, I don't actually know.
- 12:07I just pay into it and I pay more than my minimum so I don't
- 12:11actually know what I'm meant to be paying.
- 12:13Ron, ya fancy pants, get that paid off.
- 12:16It's the plan. Get that paid off.
- 12:19I can retire, no, Who am I key on?
- 12:25Never get to retire. No inflation will take care of
- 12:28that. Yeah.
- 12:32In other it's not really console news, it's just game news.
- 12:36The Steam Controller. There's been reviews of the
- 12:38Steam control. Apparently it's quite.
- 12:40Store it looks cheap. Yeah, OK.
- 12:46Like I, I see what you mean. It's yeah.
- 12:49Like did they say it feels cheap?
- 12:54No. Because it feels solid.
- 12:57I thought they said it felt solid, but you're right.
- 12:59That photo at the top, yeah, I think it looks cheap.
- 13:01It looks like one of those third party Xbox controllers.
- 13:05Yeah. And the problem I have is it's
- 13:09where the thumb placements are. Yeah, yeah, it's on with the
- 13:12PlayStation Thumb placements, which I will never be able to
- 13:15get used to, which I understand because they've got the mouse
- 13:18buttons there. I think that's what they're
- 13:20meant to be. They're higher up than the
- 13:22PlayStation ones actually. OK.
- 13:24Yes, you look at actually if you Scroll down to the I guess maybe
- 13:30are they the, the, the Steam control is very large.
- 13:35Yeah, vertically. So and now I'm looking at it
- 13:37next to the PlayStation controller.
- 13:39The distance from the D pad to the left joystick is probably
- 13:44about the same. It's just that the controllers
- 13:46are different. I think it's because it looks,
- 13:50because it's got those touch pads, mouse pads, I'm not quite
- 13:54sure what to call them sitting under.
- 13:55I think it's sort of, yeah. Interesting.
- 14:02I actually wish I'd have got one of the original Steam
- 14:04controllers. Oh yeah.
- 14:06So I heard they were actually quite good, but then when I
- 14:08finally went, I'll give one a try, they were you weren't able
- 14:12to buy them anymore, but. I see it.
- 14:18But nothing beats a good old Xbox controller.
- 14:21No, I agree. That's that's my favorite
- 14:23controller one right here. I've got 1 here, one on charge
- 14:30over there. I've got about 20 in a box over
- 14:34there. Oh, just in case.
- 14:37They're all they're ones that have made it to retirement. 20 I
- 14:43mean, look at your gamers. Look, I'm going back from Xbox
- 14:46360 days, so OK. OK, All right.
- 14:49Have you got the big chunkers from the original?
- 14:51Xbox, I've got the Duke. I've even got a replacement
- 14:53Dukes. Yeah, right.
- 14:55Because they did a re release of them.
- 14:57Very cool. And I use them for racing games
- 15:00that I can't use the steering wheel on because I don't know
- 15:03those feel better for racing games, I feel.
- 15:06Like the sticks are worn in or something.
- 15:08Not the sticks, it's just that because you're not having to
- 15:11worry about the buttons as much, the buttons were always hard to
- 15:14get to on that huge controller. I thought you meant this.
- 15:18The busted old controllers in general you.
- 15:20Mean no, no, no. Just when I'm playing racing
- 15:22games, just having that big chunky controller.
- 15:25No. Interesting.
- 15:26Actually, I find it a bit easier because you're only really.
- 15:28Wait, can you use those on? Break.
- 15:30You can use those on your series.
- 15:33They've re released them. Well they did a re release here
- 15:35so the new ones. Gotcha.
- 15:38So the same size and everything, they've just.
- 15:41Are they wireless? No, they're not.
- 15:46They have to be wired, I mean. It's whatever, which is what
- 15:49they were originally. Yeah, exactly.
- 15:53Yeah, very cool. That'll be up on my wall soon as
- 15:56a little shrine to the ones that have failed me.
- 16:01Around a little picture of Major Nelson.
- 16:04Yep, Major Nelson didn't fail me.
- 16:07He just retired. He needs to come back.
- 16:09He didn't retire. He got fired, Luke, because of
- 16:13what he did. I don't know what it is, but he
- 16:17must have done something. He.
- 16:20I think he's think, was he meant to be coming back?
- 16:24Oh, I don't know. I mean, if she's listening to
- 16:26the community, maybe. Hang on.
- 16:28Yeah, Larry. Because I used to.
- 16:30While I didn't quite follow him a lot, I used to sometimes
- 16:33watching YouTube stuff. He has hinted at a possible Xbox
- 16:39return. Yeah.
- 16:41All right. Because he's sort of always been
- 16:45like the the face of Xbox and yeah, like I got a shock when he
- 16:50left, but that also shows how much I used to watch what he
- 16:54did. Yeah, I just.
- 16:56He was almost like, yeah, he he, I associate him so much with
- 17:02Xbox when yeah, they said that he was they were fired
- 17:05specifically. He was just like what?
- 17:07Like, yeah, just such a strange, Yeah, you feel.
- 17:12Like he moved off to Unity. Yes.
- 17:16Yeah. And he was laid off, Yeah.
- 17:20Yeah, fired is not the right quote, the right word, but it's
- 17:22funny. You're just fired.
- 17:24So I did. But also makes you wonder how
- 17:27much you should get paid. Yeah, yeah, he might have been a
- 17:33money sink. Yes, yeah.
- 17:36Speaking of money sinks, do you know Peter Molyneux?
- 17:42Yes. Creator of Populist, Dungeon
- 17:44Keeper, Black and White, and other such games.
- 17:47The one that used to how do I put this?
- 17:51He would lie about stuff to see if people were paying attention.
- 17:56Sure. Yeah.
- 17:58So he's, I, I didn't hear about this.
- 18:02This is a very long article that I you know, if you're if this
- 18:07sounds interesting to you, please give it a read.
- 18:08But he's got a new game coming out called Masters of Albion or
- 18:15something. Oh, I think I saw something
- 18:19about this. It Masters of Albion.
- 18:21Which? Makes it sound like Fable right?
- 18:23Which Albion? Definitely sounds Fable Y,
- 18:26although I don't think he's allowed to do Fable because
- 18:28Microsoft owns. That because I own it but Fable
- 18:31is set in Albion. Yeah, but so you could call it
- 18:33Masters of Albion shop and it looks like Fable if you look at
- 18:35the screenshot, sort of. But the the controversy about it
- 18:38is that this game was apparently funded using the money that they
- 18:43made on some other game called Legacy, which a lot of people
- 18:48seem to be saying was a crypto scam.
- 18:52Was that the one? No.
- 18:54Was that a different one where you had to click the block and
- 18:56whoever managed to click the last block and get to the centre
- 18:59became the ruler or something? Or is that a different game I'm
- 19:03thinking of? He did.
- 19:05Yeah, I don't know about that. There was, but there was like an
- 19:09NFC land plot thing on the map here and it basically like it
- 19:16was the idea was that if you invested money because of
- 19:21because of the game used crypto, you would make money and then.
- 19:26That's not how that works. And from what I can gather, they
- 19:30made a bunch of money and then the game just didn't do
- 19:34anything. And then they were like, oh,
- 19:35we've got a lot of money now, let's make another game.
- 19:37That's what people are saying anyway, is that basically, and
- 19:41then now they're being asked to, you know, pay for this other
- 19:45game. And it's like, well.
- 19:49See, I, I can't see Peter doing that.
- 19:52I can see people that he worked with doing it.
- 19:56But like, I, I suppose. Yeah.
- 19:58But he's not going to acknowledge that, is he?
- 19:59Because he's. Yeah.
- 20:01Yeah, you can't. But I don't know, it's like.
- 20:06Oh yeah, so the Pico Town Star earnings came just before the
- 20:10announcement of the initial NFT sale.
- 20:12So it started off super high and went to nothing as all rug pools
- 20:15do. Yes, yeah.
- 20:18And it's like, yeah, it's one of those.
- 20:19Did he not know what a rug pool was?
- 20:22And he also got scammed like some like other people, like
- 20:24when the one of the more recent ones that people were like, was
- 20:28this intentional? And it was that Hawk tour girl?
- 20:31Oh yes, they did a rug pool. She did a rug pool and she was
- 20:34insisting no, no, no, it wasn't a rug pull or whatever.
- 20:37And people were like, yes, it fucking was.
- 20:39You just don't know what that is.
- 20:41And you've got she didn't. And as well, yeah, she got a
- 20:43bunch of money. She's she got paid.
- 20:46She I think she got paid $150,000 for it.
- 20:49Yeah, we should use it. So she got paid, but I made the
- 20:52people. Money was the.
- 20:53People who made it, yet the people who were behind it, who
- 20:57went, hey, do this, they made a hell of a lot more.
- 21:00So I think she got screwed over because that was the end of her
- 21:04career. Yeah, I've not heard much about
- 21:06her since. Is she still Hawking on things
- 21:09or? I don't know.
- 21:12Have to have an only fans by now, wouldn't she?
- 21:14Talk to a girl, she's still around.
- 21:17OK, I haven't just heard anything about her and.
- 21:23OK so she's goffed up on TikTok according to this, but yeah it
- 21:31doesn't look she's doing much. Tried to explain herself this
- 21:37time last year. Yep.
- 21:41Yeah, I don't know, but yeah. So yeah, you think maybe Peter
- 21:45Mullen, you got taken in by the same kind of thing.
- 21:47Maybe because. He's hard to make a game though.
- 21:52Surely he must have had some idea of how this all worked.
- 21:55Yeah, but if you don't quite know how crypto works, you've
- 21:58got these guys coming going. You do this and but also it was
- 22:06never going to work. You can't invest into a game and
- 22:09then it's going to pay you to play it.
- 22:10It doesn't work. Yeah, I guess I don't really
- 22:13understand that. It's like the Jake Paul thing
- 22:15too with the. Yeah, what Cryptozool or
- 22:17whatever it was. Yeah, it's just like, I don't
- 22:20know these things at this point. I mean this is a while back so
- 22:23maybe people could be forgiven for not knowing, but at this
- 22:26point I feel like we just need to tell these people to fuck off
- 22:30whenever they come up with an idea like this.
- 22:32Well, there are so many. There are sites just dedicated
- 22:35to rug pulling and people still invest in them because they know
- 22:39people. Don't know.
- 22:41Well, no, a lot of them, some of them are like they know if
- 22:43they're getting like early enough and sell right away.
- 22:46Oh, they want to try and. Take advantage and there's the
- 22:49people who are and and people are just hoping that they might
- 22:55be lucky and get on to the next big thing.
- 22:57Yeah, yeah, because, because Bitcoin.
- 23:01There's Bitcoin. There's Ethereum.
- 23:04Yeah, well, it doesn't work like that.
- 23:08That's the problem is that it's always something that you don't
- 23:11expect. Like that was figures.
- 23:13I was talking to someone about this the other day.
- 23:15You know, like when when the prequels came out and we went to
- 23:20the midnight launch of all the toys and bought a bunch of toys
- 23:23and then ripped them open in the parking lot and everyone was
- 23:26like, you're crazy. And we're like, these aren't
- 23:27going to be worth shit. Who was right with that?
- 23:31They have they have made millions of these pieces of junk
- 23:36because they this is not the same as the original toys.
- 23:39Yeah, it's 1970. It's not.
- 23:41Yeah, it's 19. It's not 1977 where they didn't
- 23:44even have any to sell at Christmas and they sold you an
- 23:47empty box. Yeah.
- 23:48It's just that was a unique situation.
- 23:50Yep, it's the same with comic books now.
- 23:53Like, yeah, yeah, comic books you buy today are not going to
- 23:56be worth anything. In no, even the ones that are
- 23:58like variant covers that they try to make some kind of
- 24:02scarcity, those are kind of can be worth a little bit, but it's
- 24:04like they have to men and they engineer it somewhat.
- 24:08Yeah, you're not going to be selling that for $1,000,000 at
- 24:11any time. I.
- 24:12Wouldn't have thought so. Comics in general, actually.
- 24:15I know some somebody, someone's got a huge comic collection,
- 24:19some guy I think in New York somewhere, and he said that he
- 24:21somewhat regrets it because he thought it was going to be his
- 24:24retirement. Plan.
- 24:26And it just hasn't worked out that way.
- 24:28Like they're not worth that much money.
- 24:30No. They're not like they're not
- 24:31worth nothing. But it's not what he expected.
- 24:34Yeah, yeah, he's, he's, he can sell them all for probably more
- 24:38than what he paid for, but by a few dollars.
- 24:41But he thought I was going to make millions because you look
- 24:43at stuff like the, you know, the first issue of I was Action
- 24:46Comics 15 or whatever with Superman.
- 24:48And it's like, yeah, but at the time they didn't know that comic
- 24:51was going to be worth a billion dollars.
- 24:53It was just a freaking comic that they made.
- 24:55Yeah. And that's the point is because
- 24:57at the time it wasn't valuable and no one wanted it.
- 24:59And then and. People didn't know it was going
- 25:02to be worth something. That's sort of like the most
- 25:03expensive of the Star Wars figures, even from back in the
- 25:07day. They're the ones no one
- 25:09purchased. Yeah, yeah.
- 25:10Or the the the the the mistakes. Yeah.
- 25:16Yeah. Like, yeah, it's the ones that
- 25:19sit on the shelf forever. They're the ones that might be
- 25:22worth something one day because they're the ones that become
- 25:25scarce. They're not the ones that
- 25:26everyone brought 3 copies of. Yeah.
- 25:29Exactly. I still like my collection
- 25:31though. Yeah, of course.
- 25:32Well, yeah, it just buy things you like.
- 25:36Don't try to guess what's going to be valuable, because it's
- 25:39probably. Not going to work out, but yeah,
- 25:40I buy in a box. I open it right away.
- 25:42I don't care. I'm never going to start.
- 25:44It's never going to be worth anything.
- 25:46Or if I did, I made a huge mistake and it's done.
- 25:49Yeah, I mean, I've sold. I sold some stuff recently
- 25:52because I had collectible figures like these Tim Burton
- 25:56things that I'd bought years and years ago, and I looked at it
- 25:58and I was like, oh, actually worth a couple 100 bucks.
- 26:00Sorry, I'll sell those, but I'm not retiring.
- 26:02On it, no. It's just I'm just like doing me
- 26:06no good sitting in a in the base.
- 26:07But they probably weren't like you didn't buy them for five or
- 26:11$10 either. You probably spent a bit of
- 26:13money on them, I'm guessing. Probably like 30-40 bucks back.
- 26:17In the yeah, yeah. And then so like, I mean, it's a
- 26:20good return, but good. Return but.
- 26:23Well, is it because I had to move them from Australia to
- 26:25America at some? Point Yeah, it probably cost you
- 26:26that much to move it. It wasn't cheap and then you did
- 26:29nothing with it. No, they've literally just been
- 26:32in the basement in a box. And then I opened the box and I
- 26:35went, oh fuck, I've still got these.
- 26:36I should sell these. It's fun opening boxes that you
- 26:39don't forget what's in them. Yeah, cool stuff.
- 26:43I know. And you go, you get a wave of
- 26:44like, oh cool, my stuff. And then I was like, what am I
- 26:47doing with this? Like, I didn't even remember
- 26:50that I had this. Like, yeah, I think it's time to
- 26:53sell it. But look, let's jump back to
- 26:57games. Sure, there's a game coming out
- 27:00that I'm so happy you're getting a sequel to.
- 27:03Go on, there's. Ali in Isolation 2.
- 27:06Oh yeah. That that was a great game.
- 27:09It was a bit of a sleeper hit because I know it wasn't super
- 27:12popular at the time, like it didn't make its money back right
- 27:16away, but I think it. No, I mean it's very well
- 27:20regarded now. Yes, but I don't think it was at
- 27:24the time. I think a lot of people liked
- 27:26it, but I don't think it sold until much.
- 27:28Like very like difficult I guess.
- 27:31And like and scary. Yeah.
- 27:33And like I, I just gave up on it because it was just, you know,
- 27:39the stealthies, you know, it's not, not even the alien.
- 27:41There's fucking androids. Like it's like, no, I'm good.
- 27:45But maybe I should give it another shot.
- 27:46Does it have an easy mode yet? It does where I don't know how
- 27:52it does for the androids, but it makes alien like the easiest
- 27:55thing in the world to hide from. Like you can basically hide in a
- 27:59cupboard right in front of it and it'll go.
- 28:00I don't know where you went. Where did they go?
- 28:03Yeah, OK. But I mean, yeah, I mean the the
- 28:08atmosphere and the like, the design and everything.
- 28:11Yeah, the tone like. Hold on.
- 28:14Yeah, you nailed it. And I wonder if you're still
- 28:18playing as Ellen Ripley. No, I come on, doesn't it say?
- 28:2315 years after it plays, you're showing the shoes.
- 28:26Original. That's the original.
- 28:27Alien doesn't say. Yeah, but it looks like you're
- 28:33on a planet from the team, like, and then they're like, oh, is it
- 28:38LV 426? Which makes sense.
- 28:43Does it? Oh, it does if it's not.
- 28:46Yeah, it does it just, well, it does depending on when it's set,
- 28:51Yeah, and and all that stuff. But I'll definitely play through
- 28:54this again or try and finish it because I couldn't finish the
- 28:57first one because like, I'm not good with horror games.
- 29:00I'm really not sometimes. Just.
- 29:03Stress. Gets to me now and I'm thinking
- 29:05about it, right, because Hadley's Hope, right?
- 29:08There's a there's a window there where it could be set on
- 29:12Hadley's Hope, the window where they found the derelict ship and
- 29:18when Ripley and the marines arrive.
- 29:20So it would be set inside that window.
- 29:22But then also because it's a video game and because of, you
- 29:27know, the first one had a bunch of stuff in it, I feel like if
- 29:30they were going to do that, they're going to add a bunch of
- 29:32shit that's going to annoy me. Yes, it'll be like this wasn't
- 29:36in any of the movies like. As.
- 29:40It's like, as in like there'll be fucking androids running
- 29:42around. It's like, no, no, no, well,
- 29:43they didn't have that. Why didn't we see those?
- 29:46Yeah, because they could do it. Because wasn't the special
- 29:49edition where they actually start off with them finding the
- 29:53ship? There's an addition of aliens.
- 29:56When they go out, they find yeah, and then they go back.
- 30:00And they could do that, but yeah.
- 30:04Like you can play as someone who just lived.
- 30:07But I think that that'd be a very different game into
- 30:10isolation though, because isolation is more about you
- 30:13being by yourself first. This is there were gunfights.
- 30:16There were like full on gunfights.
- 30:19I'm talking about, not just the. Yeah, yeah.
- 30:22So I feel like it'd be potentially weird to do that.
- 30:26And if it's not that, where is it?
- 30:29I guess we'll find out. Well, as we know, that could be
- 30:31on any planet now. Yes, including Earth.
- 30:36Yep. Yes.
- 30:40They've been to Earth a few times, haven't they?
- 30:42Oh man. I didn't like that show.
- 30:50I watched it all. I didn't like it though.
- 30:52I liked bits of it, like there's stuff in there I like, but
- 30:55overall like this. This make mess messes up too
- 30:59many things for me. Messes up my vibe of the whole
- 31:03thing. Yeah, I haven't finished it yet.
- 31:06I will finish it, but yeah, just.
- 31:10Yeah. Bit weird.
- 31:13Yeah, not for me. Yeah.
- 31:20Well, while we're on movies, you've developed an interest in
- 31:25a movie, it seems. Oh, yes, so remember, I've been
- 31:32talking about how Felicia Day has been doing the same thing
- 31:35that Nathan Fillion did with the Oh, that's.
- 31:38Not what I meant by that, but we're sure we can talk about
- 31:39this. You developed a taste for that
- 31:42for Felicia Day a long time ago. Oh yeah, did, did very long time
- 31:47ago. There's something I didn't like
- 31:48about. So they, they, they're talking
- 31:50about now they're going to make a movie.
- 31:51Yeah, the Guild reunion movie. The most depressing thing I
- 31:55heard about the when they were talking about it is when they
- 31:58said to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Guild coming out
- 32:03and I'm going. It cannot have been that long.
- 32:07Wow. Yeah, OK.
- 32:10So it was 20 years ago the Guild came out, but they're going to
- 32:12be kick starting it soon. Yeah, I saw the video.
- 32:16They're all back together, which is.
- 32:18It was very interesting to see them all back together.
- 32:20Which? Well, I think they've always
- 32:21been friends and no. That's good.
- 32:24Like you know, they're all I don't know, it's just they just
- 32:28seem like they're odd bunch, which I think was intentional
- 32:33right when when she did the Guild like because you look at
- 32:36them and you go that's not a group of friends.
- 32:38There's a like random people, you know what I mean?
- 32:41Yeah. Which I think was intentional.
- 32:43Like is it the older guy and the the mum and then there's the the
- 32:46young? Like it's just, you know, it's
- 32:48yeah, yeah. So it's just nice that they are
- 32:51actually all friends. I was like, that's so
- 32:53interesting and cool. So it's.
- 32:57Yeah. So they haven't actually, the
- 32:59Kickstarter's not live yet. They've just come out to say,
- 33:01hey, it's launching sooner, signs will build up to get it.
- 33:04I think they'll get it done quite easily.
- 33:07Yeah, you're very surprised if they don't.
- 33:09Yeah, it's a launch Oracle, not Kickstarter launch Oracle.
- 33:15No, it's on Kickstarter as well. Is it?
- 33:18Yeah. OK.
- 33:21What's launch? I don't know what did she say it
- 33:24was. That's what she's linked to
- 33:25launch Oracle. Oh, I think that's just that's.
- 33:29Just a landing page. A landing page.
- 33:32It's actually going to be on Kickstarter that they're going
- 33:34to do it. All right, Cool, but bring it
- 33:38in. I'll watch it.
- 33:39I'll pay for it. I got to re watch the the old
- 33:43ones now I guess. Well, it doesn't take you long.
- 33:46Yeah, I suppose so. I still like the fact that the
- 33:49reason why she made this was actually I think it was just
- 33:52after she was working on Doctor Horrible's Sing along blog or no
- 33:56or it. Was after.
- 33:57There's other reason, other way around apparently.
- 33:59Yeah, that when the writers strike happened, she said to
- 34:04Joss. We yeah, you could just make
- 34:06something, you know, and put it on the Internet.
- 34:09Yeah, yeah, I did. But she'll I think Joss also
- 34:12gave her the idea for it, like just to go make something like
- 34:17he actually like he went like he went you're a bit weird.
- 34:21Do something yourself to. And then she made that.
- 34:24Yeah. So then that led to.
- 34:28Man they look so young in these old clips it's going to be weird
- 34:32to rewatch this 20 years ago. That's fucking.
- 34:34Weird. 20 years ago. Yeah, that that's just wrong.
- 34:38Yeah, yeah, you don't have your signed iPad anymore.
- 34:43I don't I got my signed photo of her.
- 34:47Oh yeah. Along with my signed napkin from
- 34:50Jennifer Hale. Crusty napkin.
- 34:58I've got my signed copy of Mass Effect 3 from Jennifer Hale.
- 35:01I've got my memory of talking to Felicia Day very briefly and
- 35:05then you being very angry at me because I wasn't allowed to it.
- 35:09Was actually quite good, even though I wasn't angry angry.
- 35:13No, I know. I know.
- 35:14I know, I know, I know. But we actually was lucky we got
- 35:17to talk to her for quite some time.
- 35:19Yeah, yeah. Because it was just we were sort
- 35:23of blast in line before the coming up to her break and then
- 35:25going, oh, you might not be able to get the seat.
- 35:27And I'm sort of like, well, no, no, we have to see her now
- 35:30because we're catching a flight and we can't come back for the
- 35:33next signing. And so were the last ones there.
- 35:36And then, yeah, we sat and spoke to her for 5-10 minutes.
- 35:39So it was quite nice. I know.
- 35:40And then so Luke jokingly told me I wasn't allowed to talk to
- 35:45her because she was his. Yes, and but I waited in line
- 35:50with you because you know, I'm a friend.
- 35:52And then you went up and you got your see your stuff sign and
- 35:54everything. And then they were like all
- 35:57right next. And I was like, Oh no, I'm not.
- 35:58And then I was like, you know what, fuck, I just waited in
- 36:00this fucking line for what, an hour?
- 36:02I'm going to talk to her. So I went up and I know, I said.
- 36:05Something stupid? Yeah, well, what else would we
- 36:08say it was? Of course it's going to be shoot
- 36:09I. Think I told her I liked her
- 36:11appearance on that fucking podcast with TB and and Dodger
- 36:16and everybody. Oh yes, he was like, oh OK,
- 36:19thanks. And then I remember afterwards
- 36:20thinking it was a fucking weird thing to tell her.
- 36:22Like, yeah, that's really a very specific thing that you're
- 36:25coming at nothing. She's acted in this podcast.
- 36:29You're on one episode. Not this fucking series you made
- 36:32or anything like that. Yeah, Oh, you were good on this
- 36:34fucking random podcast you appeared on.
- 36:36So only because she was Dodger. Yeah, I know, I know.
- 36:44I'm aware. Is she still doing anything
- 36:47Dodger? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 36:51She's a still streams and does YouTube and stuff like that.
- 36:53Yeah. I mean, she lives in the UK now
- 36:55and she got married with at least one kid and whatnot.
- 36:58Like so obviously different vibe to the Elden days.
- 37:01Yeah. Yeah, it's funny.
- 37:02Yeah, Dodger. I never really followed.
- 37:04Never really. Yeah, that's fair.
- 37:06Enough. But you were sure I was mine.
- 37:08Say it like. That no, yeah, packs were at
- 37:17that they were they were at and it's weird to how do I get ATV
- 37:22die? Fucking hell, that's going to be
- 37:24a while ago now. Actually, I yeah, Total Biscuit
- 37:27died in 2018. Almost what, like 8 years ago?
- 37:31Eight years ago now, yeah. Yeah, it's nuts anyway.
- 37:43But what you were originally hinting at is something else
- 37:46that has grown on me. Yeah, the Masters of the
- 37:50Universe trailer. I've seen it a couple of times
- 37:54more, and a new one, and it's starting to go.
- 37:56I might like this. Really.
- 38:00All right, Good. I don't know what it is and I'll
- 38:02probably see the trailer a couple more times this week
- 38:04because we're going to go to the movies this week because there's
- 38:06a couple of things that came out, but.
- 38:08I don't know it's you must go to the movies a lot, you know,
- 38:11because that's where you're seeing it, right?
- 38:13I mean I see trailers on YouTube when I look them up but.
- 38:15You're actually no, I only see trailers at the movies.
- 38:19Yeah, last thing I saw was Project Hail Mary and I'm
- 38:21unlikely to see anything else anytime soon.
- 38:23Well, no, I'm going to go see Mortal Kombat 2 this week and
- 38:28the sheep detectives. People are unhappy with you
- 38:30saying Mortal Kombat 1 was good, by the way.
- 38:33I don't know why. Actually, people were mad at you
- 38:37saying that Street Fighter didn't look good as well.
- 38:40No, they were upset. They they they called me up for
- 38:42who am I to judge? When I look I've got coloured
- 38:45hair and fusing don't. Worry about that person.
- 38:48That person's obviously an. Idiot.
- 38:50Well, I just said, look, it's a bit over the top for me.
- 38:54And hey, if Street Fighter Movie wants to make fun of me, go
- 38:57ahead. The Street Fighter movie
- 38:59hopefully has a scene where someone literally makes fun of
- 39:02you. I hope that's true.
- 39:04Yeah. All right.
- 39:04But you're into Masters of the Universe.
- 39:06I think I am. I'm not sure yet.
- 39:09I will go and see it and I'll let you know, but I'm starting
- 39:12to think it's not going to be as horrible as I once thought.
- 39:16All right, all right. So.
- 39:18I mean, let me know I've I'm not going to watch it, so let.
- 39:21Me know, I will let you know. Of course I'll let.
- 39:23You know, maybe I'll watch it one day, but something I will
- 39:27watch when it comes out. Have you seen Did you watch the
- 39:29teaser trailer for Zach Kreger's Resident Evil?
- 39:33I have not. Looks pretty good.
- 39:37People were a bit sceptical about as we talked about this
- 39:39back in the day. Wasn't this the one where was
- 39:43meant to be like lots of 1 liners or something?
- 39:45Yeah, yeah, yeah, it was, there was it was like a road trip
- 39:48comedy or whatever. I mean, it doesn't, it fucking
- 39:50doesn't look like one from this trailer.
- 39:52It looks pretty sick. So I think maybe there's been a
- 39:55misunderstanding or or something because so this looks cool and
- 40:00then people are upset. Well, so now they're upset that
- 40:05it's not a one liner road trip movie.
- 40:07No, they're upset that Leon's not in it, and it's not about
- 40:11the stuff that's in the games. And then he did an AMA on Reddit
- 40:14and he said, well, yeah, the game's already told that story.
- 40:18I don't want to tell that story. I'm telling the story of someone
- 40:20else. And then it takes place around
- 40:25the time of Resident Evil 2, but to somebody else, like it's what
- 40:29somebody else was doing during that period.
- 40:31And it's like, yeah, OK, good. I think that's.
- 40:35That's good. This is what we also say they
- 40:36should be doing if you want to, if you want.
- 40:38To know what Leon was doing during the time of Resident Evil
- 40:412. Play the game.
- 40:43Play the game. Yeah.
- 40:45And then you'll be doing what he was doing because you're doing
- 40:48it, Yeah. Yeah, I, I, no, it's, I think
- 40:53it's good to tell a different story.
- 40:54And I think they're very set a precedent with the Resident Evil
- 40:57movies that they're not really. Don't worry about those movies.
- 41:02I don't think. I don't think anybody's.
- 41:05But they made so many of. Them, I know, I know.
- 41:07And they were very, they were very financially successful.
- 41:10People should realise. Do people make fun of them and
- 41:12including me? But people ate that shit up
- 41:16apparently. I watched the first one.
- 41:20Oh no watch the I saw. I saw the first two.
- 41:23The first one was great and the second one got weird.
- 41:26And then I think from what I saw from bits and pieces, it just
- 41:30got weirder as it went. Yeah, they were like a real
- 41:35mixed bag actually. I like, I think about some of
- 41:38them. I think about and I go, Oh yeah,
- 41:39that bit was good. And then I look, I see clips of
- 41:41it and I go, I forgot that happened in it.
- 41:43Like it's just, yeah, very like. Didn't she end up having like
- 41:45superpowers or something? Yeah, yeah.
- 41:48Yeah, yeah, she was not a zombie, but she had like a. 1000
- 41:53clones of her and all this weird shit.
- 41:56Yeah, I was out long before that.
- 41:59Yeah, they're very odd. Yeah, but when your husband's
- 42:02making them and they're making lots of money.
- 42:05Yep, why not? I'll watch the first one again.
- 42:11The first one is good. I quite like the first one.
- 42:13Yeah, you can press. There's a movie coming out you
- 42:18might be interested in in theaters.
- 42:21It's called. It's a sequel to an Old movie
- 42:25sequel to The Terminator. It's called Terminated 2.
- 42:28You ever heard of? Two, you say?
- 42:29Yeah. If you heard about this movie,
- 42:31it's going to be in theaters. Maybe not in Australia actually,
- 42:36but over here in the US, Terminator 2 is going to be back
- 42:40in theaters. And I was like, that could be
- 42:42fucking cool to go see. See I know my local movie
- 42:45theatre, they will do have just random on a Saturday.
- 42:49They'll have like a just an old movie that I'll put on which is
- 42:52good. But this is an actual full on.
- 42:54Regal Yeah, 35th anniversary if you.
- 42:59Want me to and how many? The hard to go of all the
- 43:03formats they're doing, the original 35 and 70 millimetres
- 43:08prints, the 4K, the 3D, like they're doing just releasing
- 43:13everything. You choose which one you want to
- 43:14see. Yep, I don't know which one I'd
- 43:17want to see actually. Yeah, I feel like the original
- 43:2035 or 70 would be good, but I mean, it's just, it's a fucking
- 43:27great movie. I I'd be interested in it, but
- 43:31then again I could just watch it.
- 43:32I don't know, it's hard, but going to the movies is a
- 43:36different vibe. Well, yeah, and it's for me,
- 43:40it's actually a lot easier because I don't have to worry
- 43:42about children and. Yes, yeah.
- 43:46So I can just go. Or them.
- 43:50Well, no, I ain't going to go see a family movie this week.
- 43:53What are? You going to see this week?
- 43:55The sheep detectives. I've heard of that.
- 43:58Oh yeah. The sheep detectives.
- 44:00I saw a trailer for that for Project Hail Mary, maybe.
- 44:04Yeah. Yeah.
- 44:06I don't know. If Jacob gets murdered and the
- 44:08sheep go and solve the murder and I just think it looks fun,
- 44:12so I'm going to go see that it's.
- 44:13Got pretty good reviews. OK, good.
- 44:17Yeah, got some mortal combat to that this week.
- 44:19I don't know if I'll see one tomorrow and 1:00 on Monday or
- 44:22I'll see one on Monday and Tuesday, but I'm definitely
- 44:24going to go see them and I'll give you reviews next week.
- 44:26All right. So I look at the movies and I
- 44:28go. I wanted to start going to
- 44:30movies a lot more and I was for a bit and then the movies I had
- 44:35any interest in seeing just stopped.
- 44:38Right. But now we're getting a lot
- 44:41coming out. Yeah.
- 44:43Because like Mortal Kombat 2 ship detectives and I think in
- 44:47what, 2 weeks? So something I want to watch was
- 44:51something I'm going to watch. What?
- 44:57Star Wars, The Mandalorian Grogum.
- 45:00I was like, what are you talking about?
- 45:02OK, Yeah, yeah, yeah. I keep forgetting that fucking
- 45:04exists. Yeah, OK.
- 45:05Yeah, that's coming out on the 21st of May.
- 45:08Do you? Know what comes out on the 12th
- 45:11of June? Disclosure day.
- 45:17Disclosure Day, which I've got some bad news for you.
- 45:21If you're interested in that movie, it may be there may be a
- 45:26link between Disclosure Day and a movie of Steven Spielberg's
- 45:31that you don't like about mashed potatoes.
- 45:35Why does he need a sequel to a movie about mashed potatoes?
- 45:39No one has that much mashed potatoes at one meal.
- 45:42It's. Unrealistic.
- 45:44It it isn't necessarily a sequel, but it might be a
- 45:49spiritual successor and people are suggesting, I think Emily
- 45:54Blunt specifically suggested that it may answer some
- 45:58questions raised by close Encounters.
- 46:01Why it got funded? Because it's a good movie, like,
- 46:06and you're, you're, you're wrong.
- 46:08But yeah, I was like, oh, that's interesting.
- 46:13OK, yeah, it's been suggested by Emily Blunt and confirmed by
- 46:18O'Connor that answers some questions raised by close
- 46:20Encounters of the Third Kind. Yeah.
- 46:24Well, the only real questions of that, because wasn't that the
- 46:27aliens came back and they dropped a lot of people off that
- 46:32were taken years ago and then other people went onto the ship.
- 46:37Is that how I remember? It I believe that's correct,
- 46:39yes, yeah. So it might be answering well.
- 46:46I mean, probes do. Yeah, maybe.
- 46:48Who knows? Who knows?
- 46:51But I yeah, no, I think, I think that's interesting and it makes
- 46:56me want to go see it. Well, I'm just trying to think
- 46:58of what answers there are. I mean, tons.
- 47:02There's just aliens. We don't know anything about the
- 47:04aliens, you know, Why do they communicate via music where, you
- 47:08know, maybe, I don't know. People still think it's a good
- 47:12movie. Yeah, because it is Luke.
- 47:14I still think it's a good movie. I'm thinking it right now and
- 47:18I'm gonna I will watch close Encounters again before I go see
- 47:20this movie, just in case. I will watch Disclosure Day.
- 47:23I'll not watch the close close Encounters over again.
- 47:25All right. See yourself.
- 47:29Will you go see another movie that's coming out?
- 47:32When does this come out? Next year, I think.
- 47:34The Odyssey. I probably won't.
- 47:38It depends on its runtime. Depends on whether you have to
- 47:41decide on the ending yourself. That's your Christopher Nolan
- 47:46generally. Which I don't think he would.
- 47:48He can really do that with this movie.
- 47:51You know, you don't know what he can do because I'll tell you why
- 47:55he's done things already with this that have sparked debate.
- 47:58OK. Have you watched the trailer for
- 48:00this? No, I've seen bits of it but I I
- 48:03think clips. I've never seen the actual
- 48:06trailer, but I've seen bits and pieces of it.
- 48:09People are taking issue with the, I guess, sort of style of
- 48:16it in OK, so everybody's got American accents in it.
- 48:20Even actors who are British are doing American accents.
- 48:25Like basically it, it appears that he's just just decided
- 48:27everybody's American. Oh, not American, but has
- 48:30American accents in it, which is an interesting choice.
- 48:33And people are saying, is that just because Matt Damon can't do
- 48:36an accent? No, I'm serious.
- 48:39People are like, is that why? Because he wanted Matt Damon
- 48:43stars in it and they just wanted to make it look less silly that
- 48:45he had an American accent. So maybe everybody has one now,
- 48:48including like Reb Pattinson and Tom Holland, people, British
- 48:52actors. Yeah, I can't think of him ever
- 48:55doing like A and you can't. Do 1 and you can't do 1.
- 49:00So people are like, well that's stupid, but I mean they're
- 49:03making assumptions there. And then the other thing is that
- 49:07the language in the. Disregard the Xbox.
- 49:12Sound and that fucking Xbox. The language in the trailer is
- 49:19modern, let's say. Well.
- 49:23So. I'm OK with the language being
- 49:25modern. Like they're saying Robert
- 49:29Pattinson uses the word daddy like Tom Holland says.
- 49:34Dad content, he says. Does he say daddy?
- 49:38Something about you're a, you're a silly boy who misses his daddy
- 49:41or something like that. And it's.
- 49:42Like, oh, that's. Well, they didn't talk like that
- 49:44back then. And then, and then Matt Damon's
- 49:46yelling let's go. And it's like, well, they didn't
- 49:49say things like that back then. And then, yeah, I don't.
- 49:53Know, I think all that stuff is fine.
- 49:57Yeah, it's just the the point the article here makes is that
- 50:00people are pretty used to you. If you have a movie like, say
- 50:05that it's The Odyssey, right? And you've got all these actors
- 50:07in it. People wouldn't actually really
- 50:09care if Matt Damon had an American accent, Rob Pattinson
- 50:12had a British accent, Tom Holland had a British accent.
- 50:15That's why I had an American accent I find weird.
- 50:17People don't. People don't care about that
- 50:19though. No, that's quite weird.
- 50:22The language they're using is fine, it's the way they're
- 50:24saying. Why force people to put on an
- 50:26accent? Right, making them all sound
- 50:28American as as actually more jarring than just letting them
- 50:32speak their own accent. Like, for example, the example
- 50:34in here is that in 300, right, Which I didn't even think about
- 50:37this because you just accept it. There's fucking Scottish people,
- 50:41Americans, English, Australians, yeah, all playing fucking
- 50:46ancient Greeks and. It.
- 50:48Actually doesn't really even matter.
- 50:49Like, yeah. Well, you're not really like
- 50:52paying attention to people's accents, Really.
- 50:54It's like people have been trained just to ignore that at
- 50:57this point. OK.
- 51:01Yeah. And and also the the convention
- 51:04for for a long time has been if you're doing a movie like this
- 51:08and you're going to make everybody do an accent, then
- 51:11it's stage English accent. Like they're all supposed to
- 51:16talk like this. All right, well, we'll see what
- 51:20happens. I'm.
- 51:22I honestly don't know if I'm going to go see it.
- 51:25I will I I'll be say I'll say this, though, the trailer didn't
- 51:28wow me. Like it looks good, but like the
- 51:30trailer didn't really grab me. But then trailers for
- 51:34Christopher Nolan movies often don't.
- 51:37And then I, I mean, I loved Oppenheimer, but I the trailers
- 51:40for that didn't grab me so. I still think that physical
- 51:45effect bomb could have just been done better with special
- 51:48effects. Yeah, well, suit yourself.
- 51:52I don't mean I don't disagree. Yeah, yeah.
- 51:55It just seemed like they made a big deal about it being like all
- 51:58practical. And then it was just, oh.
- 52:01I know with the implication being blew up some part of the
- 52:05country which he didn't but. But no, I can give you a rundown
- 52:09of the movies that I've got on my list to see go on for the
- 52:12rest of the year at the moment. So I've got Sheep Detectives,
- 52:15Mortal Kombat 2, The Mandalorian, and Grogu movie.
- 52:20Unfortunately. What else we got?
- 52:23We've got Scary Movie, just because I like that movie that
- 52:28comes out the same day as Masters of the Universe, which
- 52:30I'll go see. Disclosure Day.
- 52:35Evil Dead Burn. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 52:37Trailer for that looks. Pretty cool that comes out the
- 52:39week before the Odyssey. So the odyssey?
- 52:42I'm still spider man. I thought that was next year.
- 52:45July 16th July is it. Fucking hell all.
- 52:48Right the 9th of July for with Ed and then the week after for
- 52:52odyssey. Yeah.
- 52:55Spider man brand new day super troopers 3 and one I'm really
- 52:59looking forward to No, that's Tom Drew.
- 53:01Forbidden cases. That's not what it is.
- 53:02Where's the Acme 10? Oh, Coyote versus Acme.
- 53:09Yeah, why is that on this list yet?
- 53:15Yeah. Then Resident Evil, Street
- 53:17Fighter? Yep.
- 53:20Avengers Doom Day. Oh.
- 53:22God, yeah. I'll go see it it.
- 53:26Might be all right. Well, I liked Fantastic Four, so
- 53:31I'm hoping it's changed direction a lot.
- 53:34I've. Seen Fantastic Four.
- 53:37You should. It'll be on Disney Plus now if
- 53:38you're. Oh, no, I yeah, yeah, I know it
- 53:42is. I just I keep forgetting it
- 53:44exists. Yeah.
- 53:46Yeah. That's about it at the moment.
- 53:48Are you going to watch this is TV?
- 53:50Are you going to watch Spider Noir?
- 53:54The Marvel stuff. Hell yes.
- 53:57It's pretty fucking good. There's a full trailer for it
- 53:59now, and I got to say it looks really good.
- 54:02I might have to I'm going to have to watch this trailer
- 54:04because I can't wait go to the movies and see it, but I just
- 54:06can't believe that Nick Cage gets to be Spider Man it.
- 54:10Looks it looks really good. It looks like like a, you know,
- 54:14the the shadow style noir sort of would look a little less.
- 54:19And I love the fact that they're doing 1 black and white and one
- 54:23colour like it's yeah, yeah. Because either way you want.
- 54:28Yeah, because I know there will be some people who go black and
- 54:30white and just not, not for me. So I like the fact that there's
- 54:33the option. Yeah, yeah, it's going to be
- 54:36cool. Oh.
- 54:37We have long to wait. That comes out at the end of
- 54:38this month. Yeah, Yep.
- 54:42And yes, Nicolas Cage as a private detective version of
- 54:47Spider Man in a, you know, 1950s style noir like series.
- 54:55I mean it's the character from Across the Spider verse.
- 54:59Yep. Yeah, and a stickless cage.
- 55:03I know it's yeah. It's just amazing that they
- 55:06managed to to make that exist. I'm happy that's I'll watch.
- 55:10It I don't know if it's something he's always wanted to
- 55:13do or if it's the fact he hasn't been in the movie for a while.
- 55:16They. Didn't know this was an option I
- 55:17guess. I guess I don't think he has to
- 55:20do that anymore. There was a period there where
- 55:22he apparently owed so much money that he.
- 55:24Had to be anything. Yeah, he just had to do movies.
- 55:26He couldn't say no. Same like same with Johnny Depp.
- 55:29I don't know. So they'll both Oscar Wilde.
- 55:32Yeah, yeah, right. Just.
- 55:39See, because I can believe it with Johnny Depp.
- 55:42I find it hard with Nick Cage. Yeah.
- 55:46I didn't think he would be quite as silly with money.
- 55:48I know Johnny Depp was ridiculous with it.
- 55:50Like even after his court case where you just hide out an
- 55:53Indian restaurant for everyone in the court case.
- 55:55Yeah, no, yeah, there's that article about Johnny Depp's
- 55:59spending where his account resigned and was like, I can't
- 56:03deal with this guy. You're not listening to anything
- 56:05I'm telling you to do. Why am I here?
- 56:09Yeah, apparently. And drinking like thousands of
- 56:13dollars of bottles of wine and things. 10s of thousands you'll
- 56:16buy again. Cake is a very, very expensive
- 56:18wine that's supposed to be an investment.
- 56:21And we would. Drink it all.
- 56:22Drink it like, drink it like I drink.
- 56:25Yeah, that's why I drink cheap stuff.
- 56:28Yeah, you're, you're. Nothing to do.
- 56:31You're you're a frugal mess. Oh, you've moved on from VB, I
- 56:35see. Yeah, I'm now on to my Santori.
- 56:40Santori. 196 Double Lemon. Double Lemon.
- 56:48Vodka, sochu and soda. Oh, OK, Shoju.
- 56:52Sochu. Soju.
- 56:53That's Korean. That's good, actually.
- 56:55All right, that sounds. Good.
- 56:56I actually quite like these. They're actually quite nice.
- 56:58Yeah, soju is fucking delicious. All right, there's a game I've
- 57:03been playing. I'm going to guess, would it be
- 57:07June? I have been playing that, but
- 57:11there's another game I've been playing by the same company.
- 57:15Yeah, Conan Exiled Enhanced came out.
- 57:18How does it look? It looks fucking awesome, like
- 57:22does. It look like a different game.
- 57:25No, because it like it is the same game.
- 57:28It's just like, it's like, I don't know, it just looks so
- 57:33good. Like basically.
- 57:34So they've they've just upgraded the whole game to Unreal Engine
- 57:385. It's got all new art assets.
- 57:41The UI is better and everything but I mean it's the same game.
- 57:45I just, I just, it's amazing. It must be just so easy to work
- 57:50with because games are just going look, we're just going to
- 57:52redo it in Unreal 5 and just it's the same game.
- 57:54But like, so I started a new game, I made a character.
- 57:58The character models are all there's all new options every
- 58:00they all look fucking incredible and they have a big Dick.
- 58:04Women don't have Dicks, Luke. Well, I'm sorry, shouldn't say
- 58:08that. You know, that's not anyway the
- 58:14so I know I made my way out of the desert to noob river and I
- 58:18built, you know, I did the first initial things and then built
- 58:21myself a shelter and stuff like that.
- 58:22And I sent you guys a screenshot and then I sent the screenshot
- 58:26and then Dan replied. Holy shit.
- 58:29Because looks like incredible. I just love the fact I still
- 58:35just funkhom give all credit like it's a game that.
- 58:39They did not need to do this. They're.
- 58:41Not making. Any money out of this?
- 58:43It's a free update and like unless people are going to buy
- 58:45it now, which I mean maybe. I reckon they would probably get
- 58:49a few more sales, but not. As I mean, I don't see how this
- 58:53was financially viable. I'm happy that it happened but
- 58:56I'm just so confused by it. And then still no plans to do it
- 58:59for the consoles at this time. Which well, I think.
- 59:04That maybe just because on consoles they're definitely not
- 59:07going to get new sales, maybe, I don't know.
- 59:09Maybe or they're just looking, well, they know the amount of
- 59:13people who are playing the game. So they, I know that's what I
- 59:16know. They're probably more people
- 59:17there. They can see it's just Dan on
- 59:20Xbox. Yeah.
- 59:21Like and do we want to invest that much money on Dan?
- 59:25Probably not. Yeah, no.
- 59:27But they know he's very busy these days.
- 59:29Yes. But he's going to get busier.
- 59:34Yes, and I mean, it's fucking great.
- 59:36Like I just think it's obviously I didn't know this was going to
- 59:42happen. I just randomly wanted to play
- 59:45Kodan Exiles again. Like what?
- 59:47What? A couple of weeks ago.
- 59:49And. And then now this has happened
- 59:52and I'm like what the fuck That's weird.
- 59:56What if you just saw something unconsciously pop up?
- 59:59Or is it just real, maybe random timing that well?
- 1:00:03Because I bought the PC version of it well, I did actually so
- 1:00:07the reason I I think the reason that I felt the urge to play it
- 1:00:11was because I've been playing dune awakening.
- 1:00:13I've been watching Dune Awakening videos on YouTube, and
- 1:00:16so YouTube was also the same creators, yes, doing Conan XL's
- 1:00:23content. And I saw a Conan XL's video and
- 1:00:25I was like, oh, that's right. That game's fun and that's why.
- 1:00:28And then just coincidentally, like a week in, I bought the
- 1:00:31game on PC, been playing on G Force Cloud, and then a week
- 1:00:34later they're like surprise. I have this really great update.
- 1:00:40See, I never, we never got far when we played it because I kept
- 1:00:42resending our server, but there's so much content in that
- 1:00:45game we got nowhere near to. There is a town A A a fucking
- 1:00:50shipping city village thing over on one side of the map.
- 1:00:54We've never even been over that side of the map like.
- 1:00:57We had our at the starting little bit.
- 1:01:00We had a little crappy camp. Yeah, yours was quite good.
- 1:01:03I had a crappy little camp. Have you ever even been to the
- 1:01:06town that's kind of near us? There was a town near us.
- 1:01:10Yeah, see, that's what I mean. Like.
- 1:01:12No, I had, there was an iron sort of.
- 1:01:16I knew where iron was and it would spawn.
- 1:01:17I just kept going, get ironing, mining it and coming back and
- 1:01:20getting more iron and coming back and that's all I did in
- 1:01:22that game. Well, there's a, there's a whole
- 1:01:24town slash city like you're supposed to be, and that's where
- 1:01:28Conan is. Conan's there you can go talk
- 1:01:29to. Him.
- 1:01:30Oh yeah. Didn't know he was there.
- 1:01:32Yeah, there you go. I should.
- 1:01:34Maybe look into that. It's.
- 1:01:36A good game but you won't be able to play it enhanced on your
- 1:01:40Xbox because. No, and I doubt they're going to
- 1:01:43invest the money in it. I just don't think it's.
- 1:01:46And we'll see if it's. Worth it for them.
- 1:01:48If it generates revenue, maybe they will.
- 1:01:51Yeah, yeah, seems unlikely. Yeah, that's it.
- 1:01:58But you know what we do to generate revenue?
- 1:02:01We're not going to talk about that, are we?
- 1:02:03No, no, no, no. This is the after party.
- 1:02:05I'm talking about Patreon. Yeah, Gotcha, gotcha, gotcha.
- 1:02:08Yeah, yeah. So yeah, we do have a Patreon.
- 1:02:12If you want to support us, you can go to patreon.com for as
- 1:02:15soon as $1.00 a month. You get the show early, but
- 1:02:19where it really comes into the $5 a month where you get to
- 1:02:22listen to the after party where we're going to continue talking
- 1:02:24for a little bit longer about more random stuff and have we
- 1:02:27have a couple of contenders for Geek of the Week.
- 1:02:30We do. Geek of the Week is when
- 1:02:31somebody has died and Luke can just decides who's the best
- 1:02:34person who's died this week. And it might be nobody if nobody
- 1:02:37is good, but are we going to discuss that?
- 1:02:40We've got some, there's some other game news we can talk
- 1:02:43about. We've got a few things we can
- 1:02:45talk about so. There's all my stuff.
- 1:02:47We're going to keep talking for for a while here.
- 1:02:50And when you sign up to get the after party, you get all of the
- 1:02:53old after parties too. You basically get on Patreon,
- 1:02:55you get a new podcast feed. It's not the public feed and
- 1:02:58it's just got, at this point, fucking tons of shit.
- 1:03:03Yes, yeah. If you like listening to us
- 1:03:05talk, there's a lot of it. There's a lot of it and you
- 1:03:08don't. Listen to us talk.
- 1:03:09Why? Why are you here at?
- 1:03:11This point, you've closed this by now, so yes, presumably if
- 1:03:16you're here, join us. Yes, and with that I'm going to
- 1:03:21end this recording and you can listen to the outro music.
- 1:03:25That I worked really hard on and have not turned the volume down
- 1:03:27for. So it's going to be loud, so be
- 1:03:30careful you've got headphones in.
