- 3:02Speaker 3: without further ado, the big Aristotle Shack, where you at, Babby.
- 3:49Speaker 2: What's happening? You're live in this motherfucker.
- 3:57Speaker 5: God damn, it's like it's like Game seven.
- 4:01Speaker 2: It is. What's going on? And the Hawks fans of
- 4:04Speaker 2: the building.
- 4:06Speaker 3: Okay, okay, Shack Shack, First and foremost, thank you, brother,
- 4:11Speaker 3: We appreciate it. PhD NBA gentlemen and a scholar. But
- 4:17Speaker 3: more important than anything, great father. So before we start,
- 4:21Speaker 3: I want to wish you yes and every father out
- 4:23Speaker 3: there today.
- 4:25Speaker 6: Fathers, yes, yes, yes, yes, yeah.
- 4:32Speaker 3: So Shack, We're not even gonna waste any time. Let's
- 4:34Speaker 3: get right into it. Everybody take your seats. Now, it's
- 4:36Speaker 3: time to larn. It's tim a lure pads out. So
- 4:41Speaker 3: Magic Johnson, the Great Magic Johnson, gave you some advice
- 4:44Speaker 3: when he was eighteen years old about financial literacy. You know,
- 4:47Speaker 3: we always hear about seventy percent of NBA players going broke,
- 4:51Speaker 3: a lot of the NFL players going broke, rappers, entertainers.
- 4:54Speaker 3: But you're somebody who obviously made a lot of money
- 4:58Speaker 3: while you were playing, but you probably don't. I will
- 5:00Speaker 3: quad youupho tripled your net worth after you're playing.
- 5:03Speaker 5: It's a success story.
- 5:04Speaker 3: So what are some of the jewels that he gave
- 5:06Speaker 3: you when you was a young man that you still
- 5:08Speaker 3: carry with you to this day.
- 5:10Speaker 7: Well, at first, before I met Magic Johnson, I spend
- 5:12Speaker 7: a million dollars in one day, so I knew nothing
- 5:16Speaker 7: about financial literacy. My agent calls me and said, hey,
- 5:19Speaker 7: I got a check for a million, so shit, you
- 5:22Speaker 7: know me, I already had that black Mercedes lined up,
- 5:26Speaker 7: so I said, I'm about to go get the Mercedes
- 5:28Speaker 7: with the wheels, the pull out deck. So it costs
- 5:31Speaker 7: one fifty. So when I get back to the crib,
- 5:34Speaker 7: my dad said, where's mine at? So in my mind
- 5:37Speaker 7: I'm like a million minus one fifty. Shit, I got
- 5:39Speaker 7: eight to fifty left right. So I go buy him
- 5:42Speaker 7: one and go buy my mother one. You know, I
- 5:44Speaker 7: get some ice against some ear rings, and get a
- 5:46Speaker 7: couple of suits. So I get a call from the
- 5:48Speaker 7: bank manager. He says, you spend a million dollars and
- 5:52Speaker 7: I was like, no, I didn't. So then when I'm
- 5:54Speaker 7: I'm looking at the paperwork, I see Fiker. Now get mad.
- 5:58Speaker 7: I'm like, hey, I don't know no mother fucking fighters.
- 6:03Speaker 7: So like I didn't, Like, I had no idea what
- 6:05Speaker 7: fighter and income to a sales tax stay taxed. I
- 6:09Speaker 7: had no idea what that was. So then I said, okay,
- 6:13Speaker 7: I don't want to be like the rest of these
- 6:14Speaker 7: NBA players. I got to teach myself because this is
- 6:18Speaker 7: something that we don't know. Like, you know, my family work, work,
- 6:21Speaker 7: paycheck to paycheck. We never had no money. But I
- 6:25Speaker 7: had to get that binds. I had to get my
- 6:27Speaker 7: mom a bench, like. I just had to get that first.
- 6:29Speaker 7: So after I spent that million dollars in the day,
- 6:32Speaker 7: I sort of, you know, educated myself, and it's okay
- 6:35Speaker 7: not to know nothing. So if you don't know nothing,
- 6:37Speaker 7: you just ask questions. So everybody I saw that was successful.
- 6:41Speaker 7: How you do that, How you do that? How you
- 6:44Speaker 7: do that? And the first book I bought was The
- 6:47Speaker 7: Dummies Guide to Starting your Own Business. Everybody, everybody should
- 6:51Speaker 7: get that book because they give you all the answers
- 6:53Speaker 7: on how to start a business, how to be successful,
- 6:56Speaker 7: what to look for. So after that I became a
- 6:59Speaker 7: little more literate, but I still didn't know a lot.
- 7:03Speaker 7: Then when I went to La Magic was having a function.
- 7:06Speaker 7: He got some praise. I got a little bit more praise.
- 7:09Speaker 7: I thought I was the man, and he said, it's
- 7:12Speaker 7: all right to be famous, but at some point you
- 7:14Speaker 7: want to start owning things. I didn't know what that means.
- 7:17Speaker 7: So I went back to the book and I'm looking
- 7:19Speaker 7: up sole proprietorship, you know, joint venture, all this stuff,
- 7:24Speaker 7: and I'm devising my plan.
- 7:27Speaker 8: That's a valuable lesson, right.
- 7:28Speaker 6: We always made that quote that former education can make
- 7:31Speaker 6: you a portion, but self education can make you a fortune.
- 7:35Speaker 8: And so I'm glad that you said that.
- 7:36Speaker 5: Part.
- 7:37Speaker 8: One of the things that I love that you.
- 7:38Speaker 6: Said is that you invest in things that changed people's lives,
- 7:42Speaker 6: and so one of those things was Google in two
- 7:44Speaker 6: thousand and four, before the IPO. Can you talk about
- 7:47Speaker 6: how you got introduced to Google and the CEOs or
- 7:51Speaker 6: the company itself.
- 7:52Speaker 7: Believe or not, that was by accident. Wow, I'm at
- 7:55Speaker 7: the Four Seasons sitting in some white guys and their
- 8:01Speaker 7: kids recognize me. So I'm just being nice, sound on
- 8:06Speaker 7: the grass taking pictures, and a gentleman says, hey, man,
- 8:09Speaker 7: I respect you. I like what you're doing in the community.
- 8:12Speaker 7: I want to tell you about this company Google. I
- 8:14Speaker 7: didn't know what he was talking about. So another good
- 8:17Speaker 7: thing is always half. It's always important to have somebody
- 8:20Speaker 7: smarter than you that works for you.
- 8:24Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 8:25Speaker 7: Absolutely, If you're the smartest guy in the room, there's
- 8:29Speaker 7: a problem. So he talking all this white boy stuff.
- 8:34Speaker 7: I don't know what he's talking about. But I was like,
- 8:36Speaker 7: you know what, I got some white boys. I understand
- 8:38Speaker 7: your language. It sounds good what you're saying, search Engine Future,
- 8:42Speaker 7: all that sound good. But nah, I'm not doing that.
- 8:45Speaker 7: I hooked him up with my guy. My guy was like,
- 8:47Speaker 7: it looks pretty good, let's do it. I put in
- 8:50Speaker 7: a bag, and then a couple of years later, I
- 8:55Speaker 7: got a bigger bag. And then and like I always
- 9:01Speaker 7: go to these text conferences because I like to hear
- 9:04Speaker 7: smart people talk like some people talk too much, and
- 9:08Speaker 7: I like the people that talk too much because I'm
- 9:10Speaker 7: stealing all this shit. So Jeff Bezos. Somebody asked Jeff
- 9:19Speaker 7: Bezos how you get so rich, and he said, I
- 9:22Speaker 7: invest in things that change people's lives.
- 9:25Speaker 2: Shit.
- 9:30Speaker 7: So the first thing I did. I was coming out
- 9:33Speaker 7: of the Orlando Arena and this lady was chewing me
- 9:38Speaker 7: a new one. You m efforts charging these babies three
- 9:42Speaker 7: hundred dollars for shoes blah blah blah blah blah blah blah.
- 9:45Speaker 7: And I was like, ma'am, I don't make the price.
- 9:47Speaker 7: I apologized, and I had some money in my pocket.
- 9:50Speaker 7: I was like, here you go, baby, go buy your
- 9:52Speaker 7: son Jordan's whatever he wants. She smacked the money out
- 9:54Speaker 7: of my hand. So at that point I went home
- 9:57Speaker 7: and I thought about it. I was like, you know what,
- 9:59Speaker 7: I don't I feel right charging the kids that want
- 10:02Speaker 7: to be us one hundred and two hundred dollars shoes.
- 10:05Speaker 7: I already had a relationship with Walmart. I had another line.
- 10:09Speaker 7: So I met with the CEO of Walmart and I said, look,
- 10:12Speaker 7: I want to I want to be the number one
- 10:13Speaker 7: shoe seller of Walmart. So we did a deal that
- 10:17Speaker 7: was in ninety five, and ever since ninety five, I've
- 10:19Speaker 7: sold over four hundred million Bear.
- 10:21Speaker 8: Four hundred million plap it up for that, lap it
- 10:23Speaker 8: up for that.
- 10:24Speaker 2: The mom's on it.
- 10:25Speaker 7: Mine's are twenty nine ninety five, nineteen ninety five. But see,
- 10:30Speaker 7: the secret is, I know us. It's not that we
- 10:33Speaker 7: don't want to wear twenty dollars shoes. We don't want
- 10:35Speaker 7: to wear shoes that look like they cost twenty dollars.
- 10:39Speaker 7: I know how to go, so again, I'll hire some designers. Shit,
- 10:43Speaker 7: if the you know Adida's got three strikes, my shit
- 10:46Speaker 7: gonna have four.
- 10:48Speaker 8: That's case Swiss, that's KSE Swiss.
- 10:49Speaker 2: Case whatever.
- 10:51Speaker 7: So and then you know, with with me being who
- 10:55Speaker 7: I am, you know, some kids still get picked on
- 10:57Speaker 7: when they go to school, but it's still a little
- 11:00Speaker 7: bit of you know, respect behind my name.
- 11:02Speaker 3: People don't fully understand that. And I want to dive
- 11:04Speaker 3: even deeper because as a young person, you have foresight.
- 11:08Speaker 3: I believe you turned down a seven million dollar extension
- 11:11Speaker 3: from Reebok to start your own company. So speak about
- 11:15Speaker 3: that as far as the power of betting itself, because
- 11:17Speaker 3: there's people out here who might have a two hundred
- 11:19Speaker 3: thousand dollar job that they are afraid to leave. So
- 11:23Speaker 3: you turned down a seven million dollar extension from Reebok,
- 11:26Speaker 3: which was twenty years ago, and bet on yourself, and
- 11:30Speaker 3: like you said, it ended up working out real big
- 11:32Speaker 3: for you.
- 11:33Speaker 2: I took a chance.
- 11:36Speaker 7: What I realized from the previous business that I wasn't
- 11:39Speaker 7: going to outsell Michael Jordan. But people know who I
- 11:42Speaker 7: was right because Michael used to kill me a foot
- 11:46Speaker 7: locker like they wasn't even looking at my shit, which
- 11:49Speaker 7: is cool. I understand that's Mike and I ain't tripping.
- 11:52Speaker 7: So I said, if I go somewhere where nobody's at,
- 11:56Speaker 7: it's all mine, right, And then I said, you know
- 11:58Speaker 7: what us a lot of kids out there that that
- 12:02Speaker 7: you do want to have something respectable on their feet
- 12:04Speaker 7: or respectable names, something that looked good, and it's going
- 12:07Speaker 7: to work, and it's the right thing to do, because
- 12:11Speaker 7: again I didn't feel right charging the little kids one
- 12:13Speaker 7: hundred and two hundred dollars for shoes. First year, I
- 12:16Speaker 7: felt good about it, but then I after you know,
- 12:17Speaker 7: reality kicked in. I was like, this ain't right, this
- 12:20Speaker 7: ain't right. So I invested in something that's going to
- 12:23Speaker 7: change people's lives, and I just went for it. You know,
- 12:27Speaker 7: being a CEO starts up here. Everybody in this room
- 12:31Speaker 7: is already a CEO.
- 12:33Speaker 6: Yes, yeah, yeah, copping up for yourselves for sure, for sure,
- 12:36Speaker 6: But you don't you don't have to be a you
- 12:39Speaker 6: don't have to own a business to be a CEO.
- 12:41Speaker 7: Being a CEO is a mentality. If you have that mentality,
- 12:44Speaker 7: if you have that belief, it will work. Of course,
- 12:47Speaker 7: there's gonna be some ups and downs. When I first
- 12:50Speaker 7: started sell ten thousand pair, twenty thousand pairs, fifty thousand pair,
- 12:55Speaker 7: and then it just kept going. So you know, I've
- 12:58Speaker 7: been doing this since since ninety five, ninety five to now,
- 13:00Speaker 7: that's what thirty something years, four hundred million pair. And
- 13:04Speaker 7: then I went to China and did the same thing,
- 13:06Speaker 7: get some of that Chinese money, getting ennyone.
- 13:10Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 13:12Speaker 3: But what people don't even digging even deeper to the
- 13:15Speaker 3: situation where Reebop you actually designed the logo and talk
- 13:20Speaker 3: about that because you I believe you did that when
- 13:22Speaker 3: you was in college.
- 13:23Speaker 7: You know, it's crazy. It was simple how I did it?
- 13:27Speaker 7: So Michael Jordan's jump Man and I dunk a lot shit.
- 13:31Speaker 7: I'm dunk man, That's how I did it. So I
- 13:35Speaker 7: went to no I'm saying. So I went to the office,
- 13:39Speaker 7: got a registered. I can only afford to get a
- 13:41Speaker 7: register across the United States, so I had it.
- 13:44Speaker 2: So we had a marketing class.
- 13:46Speaker 7: The marketing professor said, show us something that could be
- 13:50Speaker 7: sold in the future. So I came with the Shak shirts,
- 13:53Speaker 7: Shaq underwear, shak sock, Shack shoes. And at that time,
- 13:57Speaker 7: big men were not selling. Only as was selling that
- 14:00Speaker 7: was Doctor Magic Johnson, Larry Bird. So the guy gave
- 14:05Speaker 7: me an f He said, this will never work because
- 14:07Speaker 7: big guys don't sell. So then I thought about what
- 14:11Speaker 7: he said. It made a lot of sense. So as
- 14:12Speaker 7: I'm back in my dorm room, I'm sitting I seen
- 14:15Speaker 7: this dumb ass dog on TV and I'm just sitting there.
- 14:23Speaker 7: This dude got like twenty commercials, and I go through
- 14:26Speaker 7: the store. He got cups and hats. So now I
- 14:28Speaker 7: go back and study him. And every commercial he did
- 14:31Speaker 7: was funny. So I said, a Hi, if I ever
- 14:33Speaker 7: get the chance to do a commercial, I just got
- 14:35Speaker 7: to add a lot of humor to the commercial. So
- 14:37Speaker 7: I've always had the ability to create my own commercials
- 14:40Speaker 7: and it's working out pretty good for me.
- 14:43Speaker 6: One of the other things that happened in college is
- 14:46Speaker 6: and you actually turned into a business, was the lack
- 14:48Speaker 6: of the ability to get car insurance. And so now
- 14:51Speaker 6: you have a deal with the general insurance. Can you
- 14:54Speaker 6: tell about that story, because a lot of times people
- 14:55Speaker 6: see the commercial and they see the cartoon, it's oh,
- 14:58Speaker 6: this is not serious, but no, this is something that
- 15:00Speaker 6: you've been doing for a long time because of that story.
- 15:02Speaker 7: In college, everybody everybody had a car but me. So
- 15:06Speaker 7: I'm walking one day and I see this Bronco too.
- 15:09Speaker 7: That shit was raggedy, but it was a car fifteen hundred.
- 15:14Speaker 7: So I get the peil grant for eighteen hundred. So yeah,
- 15:18Speaker 7: we know that, we know the pelgrand so we know that.
- 15:21Speaker 7: So I go to the bank and get about three
- 15:23Speaker 7: hundred and I get the rest in ones, so I
- 15:26Speaker 7: got the big knot. So then I go buy the
- 15:29Speaker 7: car and the guy says, hey, man, before I let
- 15:33Speaker 7: you drive, you need insurance. I'm like, what's insurance? He said,
- 15:37Speaker 7: you need insurance. So I go to all these places
- 15:41Speaker 7: three hundred a month and two hundred a month. So
- 15:44Speaker 7: now I got to go back to the dude like, hey, man,
- 15:46Speaker 7: I need my money back. I can't afford an insurance.
- 15:49Speaker 7: So he said, no, go to this place. And the
- 15:51Speaker 7: place I went to was the General. And the reason
- 15:54Speaker 7: why I do commercials for the General now One day
- 15:58Speaker 7: took care of me when I was young, but it
- 16:00Speaker 7: affordable insurance. We ain't got time these days, especially since
- 16:04Speaker 7: they laying people off. We ain't got time to be
- 16:06Speaker 7: paying five hundred and six hundred four insurance. So it's
- 16:10Speaker 7: really a quality insurance company, just like all the other companies.
- 16:13Speaker 7: But we decide we're not overcharging people, and you get
- 16:17Speaker 7: the same thing. So that's why I'm with the General.
- 16:19Speaker 7: I'm more about I'm more about introducing products that are
- 16:22Speaker 7: affordable to people rather than just you know, introducing everything.
- 16:27Speaker 8: So lo to you for that.
- 16:28Speaker 5: That's a fact.
- 16:30Speaker 3: Let's get back to this logo because I don't I
- 16:31Speaker 3: think that that might have won over a few people's heads.
- 16:34Speaker 3: It's valuable lessons in this situation. A you was in college,
- 16:37Speaker 3: you was an All American, you're the top basketball player
- 16:40Speaker 3: in college. You come up with an idea, your professor
- 16:44Speaker 3: tells you that's a bad idea, gives you an f
- 16:47Speaker 3: and said, big men are not marketable. So a I
- 16:51Speaker 3: think that a lot of times in our life we
- 16:54Speaker 3: let people dictate our future by their opinion. You could
- 16:58Speaker 3: have easily said you're right, but also you didn't take
- 17:00Speaker 3: it personal because in a way he kind of was right.
- 17:04Speaker 3: But you realize that you had to become a personality.
- 17:08Speaker 3: So that's why when you saw the commercials. But Mackenzie,
- 17:11Speaker 3: it's like, okay, the shock and the fool people see
- 17:13Speaker 3: you dancing and all that, they think, like, you are
- 17:16Speaker 3: a nice guy. But that's also part of the marketing
- 17:19Speaker 3: play because you knew you had to make yourself a
- 17:21Speaker 3: lovable character.
- 17:22Speaker 7: Do me a favor. If you feel like you're somebody,
- 17:25Speaker 7: put your hand up. This is the quote I tell
- 17:29Speaker 7: my kids. If a nobody can influence to somebody, then
- 17:33Speaker 7: that nobody wins. But the question of the day is,
- 17:36Speaker 7: who the fuck are you? Nobody think about that. I
- 17:41Speaker 7: don't let people tell me what I can and can't do.
- 17:44Speaker 7: It won't happen. So he's saying, he's saying, big guys
- 17:47Speaker 7: ain't gonna sell it. I'm like, okay, all right, whatever,
- 17:51Speaker 7: don't do this, don't do that, okay, whatever, Like it
- 17:53Speaker 7: don't matter what they say. You gotta whatever you believe,
- 17:56Speaker 7: you go for it, and you gotta understand before you
- 17:59Speaker 7: succeed much first, learn to fail. Like if you fail
- 18:02Speaker 7: one or two times, you and you stop pursuing your dream,
- 18:06Speaker 7: you ain't ready anyway.
- 18:08Speaker 8: That's a valuable lesson. A lot of people discount that.
- 18:12Speaker 2: Right.
- 18:12Speaker 6: I read this quote and said that failure is the
- 18:15Speaker 6: beginning of the journey. It is right because after that
- 18:17Speaker 6: point you've now learned what not to do.
- 18:20Speaker 8: So a lot of people got to get really understand that.
- 18:23Speaker 2: Right.
- 18:23Speaker 8: You have to feel at some point to know, and
- 18:25Speaker 8: you learn from.
- 18:25Speaker 5: The mistakes of others.
- 18:26Speaker 3: So obviously Michael Jordan a goat, but he doesn't own
- 18:31Speaker 3: the junk Man logo. And there's actually a lawsuit a
- 18:33Speaker 3: few years ago with the photographer that took that picture.
- 18:36Speaker 3: Nike paid them like ten thousand dollars. But think about
- 18:39Speaker 3: how valuable that logo billions. That logo itself is worth
- 18:43Speaker 3: billions of dollars. So you learned from that and said, Okay,
- 18:46Speaker 3: I got the dunk Man logo, but you own that logo.
- 18:50Speaker 3: So artists, entertainers, you see people that don't own their masters.
- 18:56Speaker 3: You've seen the horror stories. Learn from it, don't continue
- 18:59Speaker 3: to make the same mistake.
- 19:01Speaker 7: Yes, I've always learned from mistakes. My father was a
- 19:04Speaker 7: drill sergeant. So when every every time somebody did something crazy,
- 19:08Speaker 7: I got a whooping len bias passed away from doing cocaine.
- 19:12Speaker 7: My father came in and told me a new one.
- 19:16Speaker 7: He came in the house. He said, if you ever
- 19:18Speaker 7: do coke, I'll kill you. And I'm so young and dumb,
- 19:20Speaker 7: I was like, I don't. I don't do coke. I
- 19:22Speaker 7: drink PEPSI. It just hit me with that, with the
- 19:26Speaker 7: two piece bo bo. That's why I don't. That's why
- 19:29Speaker 7: I don't do drugs. One time he caught me sipping
- 19:32Speaker 7: on the beer, he made me drink a twelve pack
- 19:35Speaker 7: to the head. That's why I don't do stuff like that.
- 19:37Speaker 7: Every time every time I athlete did something crazy, I
- 19:39Speaker 7: would get in trouble. So, you know, rather than really
- 19:43Speaker 7: cute and judging people, I just learned, you know, from
- 19:45Speaker 7: the mistakes.
- 19:47Speaker 6: So just the logo, I'm thinking from my perspective and
- 19:50Speaker 6: I wanted your take on it. This is something that
- 19:52Speaker 6: you sketched in college. If we go to LA right now,
- 19:56Speaker 6: that logo is in front of the Staples Center.
- 19:58Speaker 8: What is that feeling like for you?
- 20:00Speaker 5: Oh, don't let that go over your head, ladies.
- 20:01Speaker 3: And this is an idea that he's sketched in his college.
- 20:05Speaker 3: And then he got a statue in front of the
- 20:07Speaker 3: Staples Center of that same logo.
- 20:10Speaker 2: I made for Christige.
- 20:14Speaker 7: I see, I see a lot of kids in here,
- 20:19Speaker 7: and I tell kids the same thing. Listen to your
- 20:21Speaker 7: mother and father. I wasn't the smartest guy in her room,
- 20:25Speaker 7: wasn't the brightest guy in a room. But I listened
- 20:27Speaker 7: to my mother and father. They believed in my dream.
- 20:30Speaker 7: They made me believe in my dream, and I just
- 20:33Speaker 7: I just wanted to fight. I'm a fighter. Like when
- 20:36Speaker 7: you tell me I can't do nothing, I'm gonna just
- 20:38Speaker 7: go and do it. So when I first got to La,
- 20:41Speaker 7: nobody could be as famous as Magic and kareem you'll
- 20:44Speaker 7: never win and all that, and I'm saying, Okay, you're
- 20:46Speaker 7: a nobody. I'm a somebody. I ain't trying to hear
- 20:49Speaker 7: all that. And you know, you just keep fighting. So
- 20:52Speaker 7: the first four years, me and Kobe we got swept.
- 20:54Speaker 7: We ain't give up. We just kept going, and then
- 20:56Speaker 7: we won three in a row. I got traded. You
- 20:59Speaker 7: all know the story. But again, doesn't matter what anybody
- 21:02Speaker 7: tell you. It's what you believe. And again, everybody here
- 21:05Speaker 7: is a CEO. The CEO is mental.
- 21:09Speaker 3: So yeah, one of the things that you're known for
- 21:12Speaker 3: is being a franchise owner. You own a bunch of franchises.
- 21:17Speaker 3: They talked about it earlier, Papa John's twenty four hour fitness. Yeah,
- 21:23Speaker 3: any other that I'm missing five guys, but you sold
- 21:26Speaker 3: your soul far soul five guys.
- 21:28Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 21:30Speaker 3: But so the franchise. It's a lot of NBA players
- 21:34Speaker 3: that a franchise. Jamal Mashburn, Chauncey Phillips, Chauncey Billups, Magic Johnson,
- 21:40Speaker 3: Junior Bridgeman, a person that probably nobody here has ever
- 21:44Speaker 3: heard that.
- 21:44Speaker 6: That's not true because they listened to lead hopefully. They
- 21:47Speaker 6: want hopefully, so y'all should know Junior Bridgeman.
- 21:50Speaker 5: But Junior Bridgeman is interesting.
- 21:52Speaker 3: Can you talk about the story of Juliet Bridgeman and
- 21:54Speaker 3: how he influenced you.
- 21:56Speaker 7: I always use people that are better than me to
- 21:59Speaker 7: influence me. So coming up, Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, doctor
- 22:03Speaker 7: j and business is Junior Bridgeman because he did the
- 22:07Speaker 7: same thing I did as a professional basketball player. After that,
- 22:11Speaker 7: he bridge out into business. Dudes a billionaire. So even
- 22:16Speaker 7: though I'm forty nine, I don't feel ashamed when I
- 22:20Speaker 7: say I want to be like somebody else. I strive
- 22:23Speaker 7: to be like him. And he owns a lot of things,
- 22:25Speaker 7: and he is a very impressive man. The Papa Johns
- 22:28Speaker 7: was a very interesting story. So after the dude did
- 22:32Speaker 7: what he did, I was already trying to get franchises,
- 22:36Speaker 7: but he kind of turned me down. So after the
- 22:39Speaker 7: dude did what he did, a friend of mine said, hey,
- 22:42Speaker 7: we're gonna go buy Papa John's. I said, what you mean?
- 22:46Speaker 7: He said, come with me. So we go in and
- 22:49Speaker 7: a friend that I know he buys Papa John's and
- 22:52Speaker 7: he said, shack, I want you a boar. I said, well,
- 22:55Speaker 7: you know, you messed up with my people. He said, no,
- 22:57Speaker 7: it wasn't me, it was him. I said, well, you
- 22:59Speaker 7: know they messed up with my people. I said, if
- 23:02Speaker 7: you if you put me on board, I got to
- 23:05Speaker 7: be on the board. I gotta be in charge, and
- 23:08Speaker 7: I got to get some franchises. I got to help
- 23:10Speaker 7: y'all understand what's going on. So the first thing I did.
- 23:15Speaker 7: When they came in, they say, hey, man, the numbers.
- 23:19Speaker 7: The numbers are still the same. We're not getting any better.
- 23:21Speaker 7: I said, can I be frank? I said yeah. I said,
- 23:24Speaker 7: how y'all gonna call people the N word and then
- 23:26Speaker 7: charge them the highest price for pizza. We ain't going
- 23:29Speaker 7: for that, show talk about it. We ain't going for that.
- 23:34Speaker 7: So I said, first thing you need to do, drop
- 23:36Speaker 7: them prices. Though, So you dropped the prices, things start
- 23:40Speaker 7: getting back, And at first I took a lot of
- 23:42Speaker 7: flat and I understood because a lot of times I
- 23:45Speaker 7: don't tell people what I'm doing because I don't want
- 23:48Speaker 7: it to be perceived as bragging. He do this, he
- 23:50Speaker 7: do that, I'm doing business for me. It was a
- 23:54Speaker 7: great thing to do. And listen, Papa John's is a
- 23:57Speaker 7: good brand. The guy just messed up, but he had
- 23:59Speaker 7: to pay for that. He sold it to us. So
- 24:01Speaker 7: now that he sold it to us, I'm just gonna
- 24:04Speaker 7: make sure it's right, slowly but surely. But a lot
- 24:06Speaker 7: of people you sell out this and that. But one
- 24:09Speaker 7: thing I will never do is sell my people out.
- 24:11Speaker 7: I'll never like if he was still involved, yes, sir, listen,
- 24:16Speaker 7: if he was still involved. I would never do that,
- 24:19Speaker 7: but he out, My man owned it and I own
- 24:22Speaker 7: it now, so we're straight.
- 24:24Speaker 8: And the marketing is amazing. By the way, So when

- 26:23Speaker 9: Coach, the energy out there felt different. What changed for
- 26:25Speaker 9: the team today?
- 26:26Speaker 4: It was the new game day scratches from the California
- 26:28Speaker 4: Lottery player is everything. Those games sent the team's energy
- 26:31Speaker 4: through the roof.
- 26:32Speaker 9: Are you saying it was the off field play that
- 26:34Speaker 9: made the difference on the field.
- 26:35Speaker 4: Hey, little play makes your day, and today it made
- 26:38Speaker 4: the game. That's all for now, Coach.
- 26:40Speaker 9: One more question play the new Los Angeles Chargers, San
- 26:43Speaker 9: Francisco forty nine ers and Los Angeles Rams Scratchers from
- 26:46Speaker 9: the California Lottery. A little play can make your day
- 26:49Speaker 9: peacely Responsiblit must be eighteen years or older to purchase
- 26:52Speaker 9: plate or claim.
- 26:52Speaker 8: It's a come.
- 26:53Speaker 6: Is there a specific thing that you're looking for when
- 26:55Speaker 6: you're trying to investigate company? Obviously you wanted to change lives,
- 26:58Speaker 6: but is there any other crime area that you're looking
- 27:00Speaker 6: for when you want to get into a company.
- 27:02Speaker 7: Man, I just want to make people happy and make
- 27:04Speaker 7: people smile. So the general because that's affordable insurance. Ye,
- 27:09Speaker 7: shack shoes for the kids. What else? Papa John's because
- 27:13Speaker 7: you know we love pizza. Yeah, I sold my anti ns. Yeah,
- 27:18Speaker 7: because black people don't like pretzels that much, so I
- 27:23Speaker 7: had to switch it up.
- 27:24Speaker 6: Now, the cinnamon ones we eat? What the cinnamon flavored
- 27:27Speaker 6: ones we eat? Right, y'all eat the cinnamon pretzels?
- 27:31Speaker 8: Yeah?
- 27:31Speaker 2: Yeah, nobody eat no cinnamon pretzels. We do.
- 27:38Speaker 7: If you don't get your motherfucking Vince Carter looking at
- 27:41Speaker 7: us out there, you don't eat no cinnamon putting my
- 27:46Speaker 7: hell no, they're crazy.
- 27:50Speaker 3: No choice, you're making. So it's the spices and all that.
- 27:53Speaker 2: No, I don't. Yeah, it was a good investor.
- 27:56Speaker 8: But like yah, bigs live man.
- 28:02Speaker 5: But before I'm gonna ask you another question.
- 28:04Speaker 3: But before we go there, it's a lesson in humility
- 28:08Speaker 3: and not to look past anybody. The reason why I
- 28:10Speaker 3: brought up Junior Bridgeman is because, like I said, the
- 28:13Speaker 3: vast majority of people who've never heard of him. He
- 28:15Speaker 3: played in the NBA in the nineteen seventies. I think
- 28:18Speaker 3: the most he ever made was like two hundred thousand dollars.
- 28:20Speaker 3: He worked in Windy's during the off season. He didn't
- 28:23Speaker 3: work in Windy's because he needed the job. He worked
- 28:25Speaker 3: in Windy's to learn the business. So after he was done,
- 28:28Speaker 3: he started investing in Windyse franchises. He ended up owning
- 28:31Speaker 3: over four hundred Windys franchises and became the second largest
- 28:33Speaker 3: Windys franchise.
- 28:34Speaker 5: Owner in the world, not American, in the world.
- 28:37Speaker 3: And he amassed a network for four hundred million dollars
- 28:40Speaker 3: in a process no no, no, no no. So then he
- 28:44Speaker 3: sold that. He sold all of those and flipped it
- 28:48Speaker 3: and now he's nine hundred million. So Shaq said, he
- 28:51Speaker 3: looks up to him. So if you just looking at it,
- 28:52Speaker 3: like Junior Bridgeman, he's not an All Star, he's not
- 28:57Speaker 3: a Hall of Fame. You might he might be in
- 28:59Speaker 3: an audience right now you walk right past them.
- 29:02Speaker 5: You never know who you're sitting next to.
- 29:04Speaker 3: And just because you're not at the top of a
- 29:07Speaker 3: certain level now doesn't mean you can't get to the
- 29:09Speaker 3: top of something else later on.
- 29:11Speaker 8: And that's and that was one of the things.
- 29:12Speaker 6: He was at the top of a list, right So
- 29:14Speaker 6: when you I read the story where he said that
- 29:17Speaker 6: you searched up NBA players with the greatest fortune and
- 29:20Speaker 6: you thought your name would be.
- 29:21Speaker 2: On them, I thought I was at the top.
- 29:23Speaker 8: You're even close to your surprise, it was Julia Bridgman.
- 29:27Speaker 7: You know it's crazy because I was at the airport too,
- 29:29Speaker 7: like NBA richest players. I was like, I was like
- 29:43Speaker 7: number seven. I'm like, damn, I'm broke compared to these dudes.
- 29:49Speaker 7: But it just it just motivated And like the crazy
- 29:54Speaker 7: thing is, I never wanted to be rich. I just
- 29:57Speaker 7: wanted to be able to buy my mother or anything
- 29:59Speaker 7: she wants. That's it. I don't care about. Look, you
- 30:04Speaker 7: can't you can't take none of this with you, just
- 30:09Speaker 7: like some of the ladies in here, and you know
- 30:11Speaker 7: some of your parents. My mom used to cook us breakfast,
- 30:16Speaker 7: iron our clothes, go to work, come home, cook dinner,
- 30:22Speaker 7: never complain, So that was motivating for me.
- 30:24Speaker 2: I said.
- 30:25Speaker 7: The first thing I said, I said, when I get
- 30:26Speaker 7: this money, you ain't gonna have to do nothing ever
- 30:30Speaker 7: again in your life.
- 30:31Speaker 8: I heard a little West Indian.
- 30:33Speaker 7: Seriously like nothing so and she's she never asked me
- 30:39Speaker 7: for nothing. But right before Kobe died, my sister passed away,
- 30:43Speaker 7: so my family was living in Orlando. I only got
- 30:46Speaker 7: to see him four times at work. It's like, y'all
- 30:48Speaker 7: got to come home with me, So mother, go pick
- 30:52Speaker 7: a house. You know she's still want of them old school,
- 30:54Speaker 7: my baby, that's too much. I'm like, you want it,
- 30:57Speaker 7: and like it feels good to just tell them, yeah,
- 30:59Speaker 7: give me at without what iut do with without no
- 31:03Speaker 7: checking credit or none of that. Like the ladies Like
- 31:05Speaker 7: she was like I need to check your credit. I
- 31:07Speaker 7: was like, I beg your pardon, excuse me. Yeah, my
- 31:14Speaker 7: mama is like, baby, don't do that. I was like,
- 31:16Speaker 7: hold on, mama, she disrespected me. Hey, lady, I want
- 31:20Speaker 7: this house. And I want the ten day closing right now.
- 31:23Speaker 2: Do it?
- 31:23Speaker 7: Thank you appreciate it. So that's that's that's what I'm
- 31:27Speaker 7: doing for. So you know my kids. My kids are
- 31:33Speaker 7: older now and they're kind of upset with me and
- 31:36Speaker 7: not really upset, but they don't understand.
- 31:38Speaker 2: Because I tell them all the time we ain't rich.
- 31:41Speaker 2: I'm rich. Yeah, we don't know.
- 31:45Speaker 7: You got to You got to have bachelors or masters.
- 31:48Speaker 7: And then if you want me to invest in one
- 31:50Speaker 7: of your companies, you're gonna have to present it boom
- 31:52Speaker 7: boom boom and bring it to me. I'll let you know.
- 31:54Speaker 7: I'm not giving you nothing. The girls out, I'll take
- 31:58Speaker 7: care of the girl. But my boys they're not getting nothing.
- 32:01Speaker 6: Do you see the entrepreneurial spirit and get children? I
- 32:04Speaker 6: know some of the boys are playing basketball. Did you
- 32:07Speaker 6: see that.
- 32:07Speaker 2: Spirit in them? Yeah?
- 32:08Speaker 7: I do, but I try to let them figure it out.
- 32:10Speaker 7: You know, listen, it's one rule education. I don't care
- 32:15Speaker 7: if you play basketball. I don't care about none of that.
- 32:18Speaker 7: Because listen, I got six kids. I would like a doctor,
- 32:22Speaker 7: somebody own a hedge fund, a pharmacist, a lawyer, someone
- 32:26Speaker 7: who owns multiple businesses, someone to take over my business.
- 32:29Speaker 7: But I tell them, I say we not. I'm not
- 32:31Speaker 7: just going to hand it to you. You got to
- 32:34Speaker 7: earn it so they'll they understand. So for Christmas, one
- 32:38Speaker 7: of my sons got all a's. I said, man, go
- 32:40Speaker 7: pick what you want. So he come back with the Tesla.
- 32:45Speaker 7: I said, you better take your ass crossed straight to
- 32:47Speaker 7: the chargers. You better get you a charger. I ain't
- 32:51Speaker 7: getting about fucking tesla. No dog, better get you a charger.
- 32:58Speaker 7: The V six at that, I get the hell cat.
- 33:01Speaker 7: You don't get the hell Cat.
- 33:04Speaker 3: Let me ask you a question, cuz you're a very
- 33:07Speaker 3: observant person and you make investments based off of the things.
- 33:10Speaker 2: That you observe. Ring.
- 33:12Speaker 3: You were early invested in Ring, and it's an interesting story.
- 33:16Speaker 5: So can you tell that story.
- 33:18Speaker 2: So this is the.
- 33:19Speaker 7: First time I'm not living like a spoiled breat I
- 33:22Speaker 7: love Atlanta. These are my people. I live amongst the people, right.
- 33:27Speaker 7: So I call a security company, say, hey, man, I
- 33:30Speaker 7: need some cameras because people are still crazy now, so
- 33:34Speaker 7: I need some cameras. So the dude comes to the
- 33:37Speaker 7: house eighty thousand. I'm not paying no motherfucking eighty thousand.
- 33:44Speaker 5: Be there.
- 33:45Speaker 7: Call another company sixty five thousand. I'm not paying that either.
- 33:53Speaker 7: So I go to best Buy. I'm getting TV and
- 33:55Speaker 7: stuff at the house and I see this little the
- 33:57Speaker 7: ring camera and the crazy thing about it is I
- 34:00Speaker 7: hooked it up myself. I put it on the door.
- 34:02Speaker 7: I forgot about it. I'm way in China, me and
- 34:06Speaker 7: my man Rock, we're doing like this. You know, there's
- 34:08Speaker 7: this thing in China and somebody rings a bell and
- 34:11Speaker 7: I'm talking to him. I was like, damn, my people
- 34:13Speaker 7: don't know about this. So I went to the conference.
- 34:16Speaker 7: I told the guy, said, hey, my name is Shaquille O'Neil.
- 34:19Speaker 7: I want to invest in your company, and you're gonna
- 34:22Speaker 7: pay me to do commercials. And then whatever happens happened.
- 34:25Speaker 7: So I invested some money in it. And then a
- 34:28Speaker 7: year later Jeff bas was about the company I make us. Look,
- 34:32Speaker 7: it's good for us. It's affordable security that really works.
- 34:37Speaker 7: I mean, just think about my other security in my
- 34:40Speaker 7: other house. I paid a lot of money for it.
- 34:42Speaker 7: They don't call the phone, you can't see who's who's
- 34:46Speaker 7: you know, doing what. So I actually liked this guy.
- 34:49Speaker 7: I was like, you know what, I want to invest
- 34:51Speaker 7: in you know he did.
- 34:53Speaker 3: How much did Jeff Bezos by the company for you?
- 34:55Speaker 8: A cool billion?
- 34:56Speaker 2: A cool billion billion.
- 34:58Speaker 5: Billion would a be? Congrats on that one. Congratulations.
- 35:03Speaker 2: I didn't get that money.
- 35:04Speaker 6: I know you didn't early investor as an early investor.
- 35:08Speaker 5: Another another story that you told.
- 35:11Speaker 7: Me when I get a bigger Niles, I'm gonna start
- 35:14Speaker 7: walking around with those shoes on.
- 35:16Speaker 2: Whoa motherfucker toes? Just out?
- 35:19Speaker 6: Shot shot, shot, shot shot. This picture is on the
- 35:23Speaker 6: Internet of your toes.
- 35:24Speaker 2: I'm sorry.
- 35:25Speaker 8: You can't do that.
- 35:27Speaker 2: Toes just gonna be out.
- 35:29Speaker 3: You had you halfway there, you got sway sway loafers,
- 35:32Speaker 3: halfway halfway there.
- 35:34Speaker 5: My shoes.
- 35:34Speaker 6: I like to shoot like this, we like to shoot
- 35:39Speaker 6: like it's the toes that I'm concerned about.
- 35:42Speaker 7: My toes ugly as hell the word, respectfully.
- 35:47Speaker 8: Probably the worst. I've ever seen.
- 35:48Speaker 2: My ship bad, I know it.
- 35:53Speaker 5: Playing with the Great Kobe Bryant.
- 36:00Speaker 2: They got to happen. Where the god the cameras on
- 36:02Speaker 2: his feet.
- 36:04Speaker 5: They put it?
- 36:05Speaker 2: Oh, y'all want to see my toes?
- 36:06Speaker 5: No?
- 36:07Speaker 4: No, no, yo zoo man.
- 36:20Speaker 8: I thought it was a photoshop the first time I
- 36:22Speaker 8: saw it.
- 36:23Speaker 3: My ship terrible, damn, can't I see some things you can't.
- 36:30Speaker 2: I see you can'tot see that.
- 36:31Speaker 6: No, that might that's earned your leadre First, I'm not
- 36:35Speaker 6: sure if that was a tone down on what the
- 36:37Speaker 6: ugly feet?
- 36:38Speaker 2: So what billionaire feet?
- 36:41Speaker 5: Shack playing?
- 36:42Speaker 2: My feet looked better than them ugly short? You got
- 36:45Speaker 2: on at that? I thought I wasn't gonna come back. Huh,
- 36:57Speaker 2: what's wrong with them?
- 36:58Speaker 8: Don't let him do that? Shot it, y'all stop laughing.
- 37:00Speaker 8: That's my brother, So I'm laughing, y'all.
- 37:02Speaker 2: What's happening?
- 37:02Speaker 5: He thought about that?
- 37:03Speaker 3: He thought about that shaky at what's shaky?
- 37:06Speaker 8: Why you need him shaky? Where you bat?
- 37:10Speaker 5: I got? I got reinforcements, man.
- 37:13Speaker 3: Nah playing playing, playing with the great Kobe Bryant, and
- 37:20Speaker 3: as far as his work ethic, what did you learn
- 37:24Speaker 3: from playing and seeing somebody so focused, so determined?
- 37:29Speaker 5: Uh? What did you learn from that?
- 37:31Speaker 3: And and what's some lessons that you can kind of
- 37:33Speaker 3: give the people here because you played with him, and
- 37:35Speaker 3: you as a teammate and you were a friend of his.
- 37:37Speaker 7: When I say I didn't learn anything from him, I
- 37:39Speaker 7: don't mean that in a disrespectful way, because every CEO
- 37:43Speaker 7: here has their own route, right, You don't have to
- 37:46Speaker 7: follow my route. You got to follow your route. Kobe
- 37:50Speaker 7: was different, like he worked, work, work, work, work, work,
- 37:55Speaker 7: I work, go to the club, work, go to the mall,
- 38:02Speaker 7: work in people's DM what like this. But he just
- 38:08Speaker 7: wait wait wait wait where where were That? Ain't me?
- 38:13Speaker 7: But the way he did it was just our mentals
- 38:18Speaker 7: were similar. He wanted to be the best ever. I
- 38:22Speaker 7: didn't want to be the best ever. I wanted to
- 38:23Speaker 7: be the most dominant ever. So he but he worked,
- 38:28Speaker 7: he worked, did he work, And I'm glad he did
- 38:30Speaker 7: because I definitely wouldn't have got three without him.
- 38:33Speaker 2: I know that.
- 38:40Speaker 7: And the last five brothers that was up here, they're
- 38:45Speaker 7: all CEOs, right, but you know why they all get
- 38:48Speaker 7: along one word respect. So I'm sure they have arguments
- 38:54Speaker 7: or beefs or whatever. But as long as the respect
- 38:57Speaker 7: is there, the success will always be there. We had
- 39:00Speaker 7: our differences. He wanted to shoot. I'm like, nah, don't shoot.
- 39:03Speaker 7: Throw it to me.
- 39:06Speaker 8: Expectfully.
- 39:07Speaker 7: True story were in Massons squad guard. I'm at the
- 39:10Speaker 7: free throw line. Halle Berry's walking down the steps. I
- 39:15Speaker 7: had to call the time out. Huddle up, hey, Holly,
- 39:24Speaker 7: here to see me. Don't nobody. Shoot that motherfuck up
- 39:26Speaker 7: at me, Kobe, Nobody, No she here, shoot shoot shoot
- 39:32Speaker 7: that ship. See what happened? One two, three? Break? And
- 39:45Speaker 7: I made the first one, so I thought I was.
- 39:46Speaker 7: I was like, hit, I made it. I missed the
- 39:54Speaker 7: second one, though, but we are. It's just that was
- 39:59Speaker 7: our argument. I shoot, you shoot. That's because you got
- 40:03Speaker 7: two CEOs on the same team. And he was definitely
- 40:07Speaker 7: a CEO, the way he thought, the way he played,
- 40:10Speaker 7: and that's why he's one of the greatest ever. And
- 40:13Speaker 7: again I'm glad I was. I'm glad I was a
- 40:15Speaker 7: part of that. But each individual CEO has their own route.
- 40:24Speaker 7: Like the way he did it is cool. The way
- 40:26Speaker 7: I did it's cool, but you have to create your
- 40:28Speaker 7: own route. Like he never went to the club. I
- 40:31Speaker 7: got to go to the club when I come to.
- 40:34Speaker 7: Like when we was in l A and I'm coming
- 40:35Speaker 7: to the Atlanta. We got a night off, Magic City,
- 40:38Speaker 7: Baby Ring, make it ring. But you think I'm gonna
- 40:45Speaker 7: just sit in the room, No I'm not and focus
- 40:49Speaker 7: on the game.
- 40:49Speaker 2: No I'm not.
- 40:52Speaker 7: You know why I got to kimba my tumbo guarden me.
- 40:55Speaker 7: I ain't got to do nothing, but that what I said, Hey,
- 41:00Speaker 7: why aboutute check and alert?
- 41:03Speaker 6: He ain't worry about not speak speaking of Kobe. When
- 41:07Speaker 6: I think of one of your greatest highlights, it's the
- 41:09Speaker 6: crossover at the top of the key out of you
- 41:11Speaker 6: that sends out to the finals.
- 41:14Speaker 8: I want to know what, in your.
- 41:15Speaker 6: Perspective, what is your greatest highlighting business thus far? What's
- 41:19Speaker 6: something that you look at and say, you know what,
- 41:22Speaker 6: this is incredible. I'm so proud that I did this.
- 41:25Speaker 7: I don't like to seem like I'm bragging. What I'm
- 41:29Speaker 7: gonna ask you a question. Who owns who owns Marilyn Monroe?
- 41:40Speaker 7: Marylyn Monroe Playboy? Who owns Elvis Presley? Who owns Forever
- 41:46Speaker 7: twenty one? Who owns J C? Penny Me.
- 41:54Speaker 2: The Deezel? Yeah? My real.
- 41:59Speaker 6: Hey, stand up for that, y'all Stop playing Stop playing.
- 42:05Speaker 3: Talk heavy, talk heavy, My real talk to talk to.
- 42:12Speaker 7: So my real business, my real business is I own
- 42:16Speaker 7: fifty brands. So when I was retiring, I'm looking around,
- 42:22Speaker 7: I'm like, how does Michael Jackson and all these guys
- 42:24Speaker 7: live forever? So one of the chapters in the book
- 42:28Speaker 7: Joint Ventureship, So I called the three companies that helped
- 42:31Speaker 7: people live forever, and they brought my band for a
- 42:34Speaker 7: lot of money. So I took half that money put
- 42:37Speaker 7: it back in the company. Now I'm the number two
- 42:38Speaker 7: guy in the company. Instead of taking all that money
- 42:42Speaker 7: and just saying, okay, you control fifty percent of my brand, Nope,
- 42:45Speaker 7: I'm gonna put it back in just in case, because
- 42:49Speaker 7: you always got to keep an eye on them, right.
- 42:51Speaker 2: They could.
- 42:52Speaker 7: They could have bought my brand and made me go away,
- 42:54Speaker 7: but I'm like, nope, put money back in the company.
- 42:56Speaker 7: Now I own all those other brands. So if Shat
- 42:59Speaker 7: goes away, we still got Elvis. You ain't nothing but
- 43:05Speaker 7: a hound dog. So that that's how I was looking expectfully.
- 43:11Speaker 2: Y'all want to see my toes again, Throw your.
- 43:15Speaker 5: Toes in the air in a way, talk heavy before
- 43:22Speaker 5: we leave.
- 43:22Speaker 3: I want to, I want to. I want to end
- 43:24Speaker 3: this vibe. You had the honor of sitting down with
- 43:28Speaker 3: a lot of great people. You uhould do music. You
- 43:30Speaker 3: got a bag from music. But you said that the
- 43:34Speaker 3: late great Christopher Wallace, notorious b I G. You had
- 43:37Speaker 3: the honor of him doing a song with you, and
- 43:40Speaker 3: you say afterwards, your eight and he was telling you
- 43:44Speaker 3: about his dreams about what he wanted to do in business,
- 43:47Speaker 3: what he wanted to do an entrepreneurship, fatherhood. He never
- 43:51Speaker 3: got a chance to do that. He was killed when
- 43:53Speaker 3: he was twenty four years old. So people here, can
- 43:57Speaker 3: you talk about that and what's the importance of living
- 44:00Speaker 3: for today, taking action today because tomorrow is not promised, and.
- 44:07Speaker 7: Living for today you take advantage of all opportunities. I
- 44:13Speaker 7: like rapping. I'm not a rapper, right, I know this,
- 44:17Speaker 7: So I go onto our Citio Hall show. I like
- 44:21Speaker 7: being different. I don't want to just come in a
- 44:22Speaker 7: suit and talk. So I say, yo, let me wrap up.
- 44:25Speaker 7: My favorite rap group at the time is fu Shnaking.
- 44:29Speaker 7: I killed it. So the next day my agent said,
- 44:32Speaker 7: hey man, these guys want to give you a record deal.
- 44:35Speaker 7: Like now, I'm not interested. Ten million for three albums. Shit,
- 44:38Speaker 7: I'll take it. I'll take it. But then I said,
- 44:43Speaker 7: you know what, They're not gonna like me rapping by myself.
- 44:47Speaker 7: Tell them I want to rap it all my favorite
- 44:49Speaker 7: my favorite rappers. They agreed to it. So I get
- 44:53Speaker 7: a song called you Can't Stop the Rain, and I'm
- 44:57Speaker 7: riding in the car. I already got my verse done
- 44:59Speaker 7: and he says, my name I'm slamming brothers like Shaquille,
- 45:02Speaker 7: and I'm like, even though I'm in shock, I'm still
- 45:04Speaker 7: a kid and a fan. I'm a regular person. I'm like, damn,
- 45:07Speaker 7: Biggie know who I am. So I had somebody contact Puff.
- 45:11Speaker 7: I send the jet to go get Biggie. He comes down.
- 45:14Speaker 7: So now I'm like, this is Biggie. I already got
- 45:16Speaker 7: my verse done. If Biggie say my shit is terrible,
- 45:19Speaker 7: I'm gonna be devastated. So I'm like, and I hit
- 45:26Speaker 7: playing big. He's like I was.
- 45:31Speaker 2: So.
- 45:31Speaker 7: Then I said, yo, here's a pin in the pad
- 45:33Speaker 7: because I had the studio at the house pinning in
- 45:35Speaker 7: the pad. I'm gonna be in the house. Let me
- 45:38Speaker 7: know when you get done. He said, no, I'm ready. Now,
- 45:41Speaker 7: I say what you mean. He goes in the booth,
- 45:44Speaker 7: killed it. But it was real raid and r and
- 45:47Speaker 7: I was like, big.
- 45:50Speaker 8: I gotta tell this in Walmart.
- 45:53Speaker 7: I hated to do it too. He said, oh, yeah,
- 45:55Speaker 7: the kids kids, my bad, and then he went and
- 45:57Speaker 7: spit the other verse. But it was just it was
- 46:00Speaker 7: just amazing. And then he was a cool guy. We're
- 46:02Speaker 7: in the house and Ate got on the sea. Dude,
- 46:05Speaker 7: he just told me all his dreams, I told him
- 46:07Speaker 7: all my seekers. I told him how to get it done.
- 46:10Speaker 7: And then the next time I see him was the
- 46:11Speaker 7: night before he passed away.
- 46:14Speaker 2: He was a good brother.
- 46:14Speaker 7: But moral of the story is take advantage of all
- 46:17Speaker 7: opportunities right now today.
- 46:20Speaker 5: Can we got one more question?
- 46:21Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 46:21Speaker 3: Go ahead, all right, all bonus route. It's called Bonus Round,
- 46:25Speaker 3: it's called the biggest. So we had a lot of
- 46:29Speaker 3: entertainers and athletes. They get robbed. We heard an unfortunate
- 46:33Speaker 3: situation with Fato.
- 46:34Speaker 5: I saw a god. We interviewed him.
- 46:36Speaker 3: They give access to that business managers, they give access
- 46:38Speaker 3: to the accountants to pay their bills for them.
- 46:41Speaker 5: And all of that. You learned that early on.
- 46:43Speaker 3: As far as the power of attorney in college, and
- 46:45Speaker 3: you said you're not with that, Explain.
- 46:47Speaker 7: That you have to have education to know what you're
- 46:50Speaker 7: looking at. See what I'm saying. So I have the
- 46:54Speaker 7: education to when I feel like I'm getting robbed, I
- 46:56Speaker 7: can go look at the books be like what is this.
- 47:00Speaker 7: If you don't have education and you put trust in
- 47:02Speaker 7: somebody else, then they can tell you whatever. So you know,
- 47:07Speaker 7: like when I say educate yourself, you don't have to
- 47:09Speaker 7: have a degree. Look at that book, dummies got how
- 47:12Speaker 7: to start your business learn learn about assets and liabilities,
- 47:15Speaker 7: learn about you know what I'm saying, learn about you know,
- 47:19Speaker 7: debts and credit dudes and don'ts. So that's the first
- 47:22Speaker 7: thing I wanted to do. I got the book. Then
- 47:25Speaker 7: I got my bachelor's, then I got my master's. Because
- 47:28Speaker 7: every time I go set up a meeting to be
- 47:29Speaker 7: me and my white boys, like the people be like, hey, Shack,
- 47:33Speaker 7: how you doing, And then they turn and start talking
- 47:35Speaker 7: to my white boys. But they don't know I'm in charge.
- 47:37Speaker 7: The white boys were for me. So I said, okay,
- 47:41Speaker 7: I got it, y'all. Don't think I know what I'm
- 47:42Speaker 7: talking about. When got my masters, So now everybody talk
- 47:46Speaker 7: to me, and you just have to be educated to
- 47:49Speaker 7: know what you're looking at.
- 47:50Speaker 2: It's okay to have somebody pay your bills.
- 47:52Speaker 7: But like me, I get something every first and at
- 47:55Speaker 7: fifteenth and it comes straight to my office, which is
- 47:59Speaker 7: my phone. So I go up the room. I like
- 48:01Speaker 7: that hook up and I'm looking, hey, man, what's happening.
- 48:10Speaker 7: We only saw how many pieces last week?
- 48:13Speaker 2: Nah?
- 48:14Speaker 7: Man, you need to fix you, Like, like, I know
- 48:15Speaker 7: what I'm looking at like again. I can't say we
- 48:18Speaker 7: sold a thousand pieces and then we only sold twenty. No, no, no,
- 48:21Speaker 7: no no, something's wrong with that picture. Let me see
- 48:26Speaker 7: your toes.
- 48:27Speaker 5: No glass boy talking about my toe?
- 48:33Speaker 10: Glass boy.
- 48:44Speaker 3: Gotta got I got you, Oh, Shack man, it's been
- 48:49Speaker 3: an honor of pleasure. I gotta my son really wanted
- 48:52Speaker 3: to come.
- 48:53Speaker 2: I got a question. Are you light skin of brown skin?
- 48:56Speaker 11: Oh?
- 48:56Speaker 2: Here you go? Here you go, yeah, cause here you go.
- 49:00Speaker 8: At you this son.
- 49:01Speaker 7: All the brown skin homies put your hand up, you
- 49:05Speaker 7: light skin cats. Think y'all high, y'all niggas ain't hot,
- 49:09Speaker 7: dark skinned, brown skin.
- 49:10Speaker 2: We run this.
- 49:13Speaker 5: We run this, Yo, play some drake.
- 49:19Speaker 2: You better not playing, no drake, drake on.
- 49:23Speaker 8: We only leave it.
- 49:23Speaker 3: If drake Come on, Shack, I gotta ask you what
- 49:27Speaker 3: last day?
- 49:28Speaker 5: My son loves. He's ten years old, and I'm like,
- 49:30Speaker 5: how you no? Shock?
- 49:31Speaker 7: I could tell he like skin, he got pretty lips,
- 49:33Speaker 7: pretty team. Hey you got old. That's shot shock, that's fuss.
- 49:43Speaker 7: Tell me about pretty as boy? Yo, I hate you,
- 49:49Speaker 7: pretty mother? Oh my son. My son loves Shack, And
- 49:55Speaker 7: I'm like, how you know?
- 49:56Speaker 5: Shock? He's ten years old.
- 49:57Speaker 3: He's like shocking a fool, So he I had to come,
- 50:00Speaker 3: but he had to stay in New York for my
- 50:02Speaker 3: cousin's graduation. But he's like, can you just give me
- 50:05Speaker 3: a shout out? His name is na Sid. Can you
- 50:07Speaker 3: give him a shout out? Does not see it like
- 50:10Speaker 3: nas naw.
