- 0:00I'm learning how to hit record on the phone.
- 0:02That's weird. It's about last week on the
- 0:04phone. Thank God.
- 0:06Actually, it might not be my last week on the phone.
- 0:08PAX next. It's probably be on the phone on
- 0:10the pax for pax next week. But the week after that, I'll be
- 0:14back to computer. I'm back there with you.
- 0:17Is it in the room with you right now?
- 0:19My computer is in the room with me, but I'm sorry.
- 0:22Is it dead and we're having a seance?
- 0:24Is it in the room with you right now?
- 0:26Can you hear me? No, it's here.
- 0:29But I just find that running just using stream Yard, just
- 0:32when I'm using 5G, just going through the phone, it's just,
- 0:35it's just easier and better than trying to stream to my computer.
- 0:40And my computer is going to need like a billion updates because
- 0:42it hasn't been plugged in for two months.
- 0:45That's a long. Time we're going to demand that
- 0:47you actually just you read all the articles today as we talk
- 0:51about them so. Oh yeah, great.
- 0:52You read through them and then Matt and I will comment.
- 0:55Yeah. So what's up first, Luke?
- 0:58There, there was a link to get into the chat, yeah.
- 1:02Yeah, All right. Cool.
- 1:04Yeah, there was. Yeah, that's as.
- 1:06Far as I got, welcome to Multiple Nerdgasm with your
- 1:11hosts, Matt, Luke, and Dan. Multiple Nerdgasm, Your guide to
- 1:19all things nerdy. We can talk about something near
- 1:28and dear to your heart. Yeah, we can.
- 1:30I know this is just stressing you out.
- 1:32You've been away a little bit. To see in the news, go by on
- 1:36your phone. Unable to check in on your piece
- 1:38of Xbox? Well here's the thing Luke, in
- 1:42the past you've attempted to continue streaks and scores and
- 1:47things whilst on holiday. Yeah, but this time you were
- 1:50like, no, I'm just want to drink martini.
- 1:52Just couldn't do it. Yeah, well, apparently Microsoft
- 1:55news. They've noticed this.
- 1:58No drop in in. An enormous downward spike.
- 2:03And so they've. Gone, well, I guess, and they've
- 2:05gone. Oh fuck, just kill the Xbox.
- 2:07Just kill it. We're fucking done.
- 2:10Well, well it's sort of weird because they're releasing a new
- 2:13the new handheld in like 2 weeks.
- 2:17Yes, I think all the news didn't.
- 2:19See this Luke, you did say this handheld will be the last Xbox
- 2:23and everything will just be on the handheld from now on.
- 2:25You did say that. I, I did say their, their, their
- 2:28goal is to basically stream console balls are over, They're
- 2:33going streaming. That's the future and that's
- 2:35what they're going to focus on and that's why they're.
- 2:36Buying up their own, that's what they're doing.
- 2:38Nintendo just leaned into the Switch now.
- 2:40Like yeah, they're not doing another console.
- 2:43Nintendo would just. Nintendo have always done their
- 2:47own thing. Nintendo have never been
- 2:49involved in anything. I don't know man, the the the
- 2:52console wars used to just be fucking Sega versus.
- 2:55Ninja and Nintendo. Yeah, back in the day.
- 2:58And then Sega died, then the Sony came in, and then Microsoft
- 3:03came in, and then they battled. Nintendo sort of stayed in it
- 3:07for a while. Didn't they just split up And
- 3:09you've got to? Remember when when there was
- 3:11just PlayStation One and Nintendo 64?
- 3:15Like Nintendo was still a massive contender in in the
- 3:19field, better console. I think people.
- 3:22Forget now. Yeah, yeah.
- 3:25It's not about that. Yeah, it didn't matter, did it?
- 3:28Well, then the particular news of of note, right?
- 3:31So Microsoft, apparently a bunch of retailers here in the US have
- 3:35just said we're not going to sell Xboxes, which is
- 3:37interesting. Costco in particular, and then
- 3:40and others that I can't recall, they all just said we're not
- 3:44going to sell Xbox consoles anymore because we have trouble
- 3:47getting them and it's just not worth the hassle.
- 3:49And it's like, OK, interesting. Well, does it have something to
- 3:53do? With tariffs or?
- 3:54I think I, no, I don't know if it's that.
- 3:56I think, well, the, the rumour is that Microsoft's winding down
- 3:59production on them because they don't want to commit to them.
- 4:02Because like I think it, it does to me point to what you're
- 4:05saying, Luke, is that they don't want to sell consoles anymore.
- 4:08So maybe they're not, you know, manufacturing them in the
- 4:12numbers. Well, yeah, 'cause that's, that
- 4:14sounds like a lot different. It's not like, no, we don't want
- 4:16to sell them anymore. It's just sort of like it's hard
- 4:19for us to get it. So it's hard for us to keep the
- 4:20stock. So we've got to put a slide, a
- 4:23section for us to advertise them when we're not getting any
- 4:27here's. What?
- 4:28We'll hold on back up, GBT. What are we saying here?
- 4:31Are we saying that Xbox or Microsoft plans to only release
- 4:35PC games? Like what?
- 4:37What are we talking about? Where my?
- 4:38Xbox play my. Xbox.
- 4:39Games so OK, so the other big news, the other big news is that
- 4:44there's this massive price change in the Game pass.
- 4:49So Game Pass Ultimate, which used to be for me in the US, 20
- 4:53bucks a month will now be 30 bucks a month, which is a big
- 4:57price jump. That's like 50% price jump.
- 5:00And then there that's ultimate. And then the middle one will be
- 5:03professional and that'll be 15. Let me look at this.
- 5:07So I don't get you. It'll jump up to see.
- 5:11They're mostly only talking about Ultimate Premium.
- 5:13Premium will be. 15 and then essential will be 10 and if you
- 5:19want the cloud stuff, you've got to get Ultimate.
- 5:22The ultimate. If what?
- 5:25What does Ultimate give you now? Ultimate now gives you all the
- 5:28games, right that you can play. It gives you the cloud stuff and
- 5:32it gives you like. DC as well as console.
- 5:37Oh. Yeah, PC Game Pass, Yeah, OK,
- 5:39so, and if you still want all that stuff, the other thing is
- 5:41too, that new ultimate will include the Ubisoft and the EA
- 5:45Play stuff too, which is actually a pretty good bonus.
- 5:47I actually. Want actually I was looking at
- 5:50the Ubisoft one. It's not Ubisoft Plus entirely.
- 5:54It's Ubisoft Classic. I see.
- 5:56Yeah, right. So you.
- 5:57Still have to pay for shadows if.
- 5:59I thought that's a bit dodgy. Yes, that's on sale right now.
- 6:02I considered it because it gets away.
- 6:05We get to why I've got a lot of extra money.
- 6:06How? Much, but he plays.
- 6:08That's been included for a while.
- 6:11Xbox. Oh shit, $65?
- 6:14Yes, I'll pay $65 for it absolutely straight.
- 6:18Here we go, ChatGPT says I said why have retailers?
- 6:22Why are retailers no longer going to sell the Xbox ChatGPT
- 6:25sales? And so this is fact, right?
- 6:27Chat, Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 6:28Fact Yes, Costco confirms it will no longer carry current
- 6:31generation Xbox consoles as part of a business decision in quotes
- 6:36some other retailers. Well, sorry, is that implying
- 6:38that it's not a business decision?
- 6:40Yeah. Some kind of ironic business
- 6:42decision? Yeah.
- 6:44Also, why can't I say? Decision.
- 6:45It's definitely not for sexual gratification.
- 6:47Yeah, for a business decision. Other retailers like Sam's Club
- 6:53have begun discounting their existing inventory and reducing
- 6:56future orders after Microsoft recent price hikes.
- 6:59Oh yeah, they have put the price of the consoles up.
- 7:01That could be tariff related. But in Europe and other regions,
- 7:05this Series X is often out of stock and many retailers have
- 7:09said they're not expecting to be restocked.
- 7:12And Xbox console. Sales have dropped.
- 7:17We're all, they're always out of stock.
- 7:19So we're gonna just not sell them even though the second.
- 7:22We get them, we sell out, they've sold out.
- 7:25Maybe it's maybe it's a hassle to to constantly be like, yeah,
- 7:28sorry, we don't have any of those people get mad at them or
- 7:30whatever and it's like. So just back up because I mean,
- 7:35I'm, I'm a, I'm a, you know, a, a, a a pretty casual user of
- 7:39Xbox. I only, I have an Xbox casual.
- 7:42I pay $22.00 a month for my Game Pass and it just gives me the
- 7:48games that are in Game Pass. Yeah, I got charged yesterday,
- 7:51still $22.00. So yeah, yeah, it's next month.
- 7:53So good. November.
- 7:56Well, I don't want to pay more and maybe I'll just cancel it
- 7:58then because I. So I was thinking about it but.
- 8:01Then Indiana Jones is going to disappear right when the DLC
- 8:04comes out, yeah. But here's the thing.
- 8:06Right I was. Thinking about this the other
- 8:08day, you go first, you go first. Double check.
- 8:11Double check what plan you're on.
- 8:13If you're not playing on PC, no. No.
- 8:18Well, maybe Indiana Jones. But the other thing is too that
- 8:20Ultimate is the only one that gives you the day one AAA
- 8:24releases. You don't get them on the
- 8:26others. That's the other.
- 8:28That's the other thing, yeah. So they don't tell you what the
- 8:33games are because obviously that would be a long list, but
- 8:35Ultimate gives you 400 plus games, Premium gives you 200
- 8:39plus games, and the Essential gives you 50.
- 8:43So it's a restriction on what the games are too.
- 8:46I don't know exactly what the restriction.
- 8:48Is OK, but. So I was thinking about it
- 8:50right. So I was like, to be honest, I
- 8:52barely have time to play my Xbox and so had I thought about this
- 8:58even before the price hike, I might have done the same thing.
- 9:00But I was like, you know, what I should do probably is cancel it,
- 9:03put the money that I pay for it every month aside and just buy
- 9:08games and I'm. Pretty sure you come out.
- 9:11Ahead. And so that's what I'm doing.
- 9:12I've cancelled it and I'm gonna see if it affects my life
- 9:15negatively. What's that?
- 9:18I would not come out ahead. I would come out so far behind.
- 9:21It's not far. Yeah, that's true.
- 9:23I, I'm, yeah, we'll see. I but I'm fairly certain.
- 9:27But even right now, I play No Man's Sky quite a bit.
- 9:30I own that. I, I basically haven't used Game
- 9:33Pass in months. So it's see, now that I've had
- 9:37my attention drawn to that fact, it kind of seems silly to pay
- 9:39for. I've been back in Australia for
- 9:43what, two days a day or something?
- 9:46I've already spent $300 on the games.
- 9:49Well, I've just spent $65 on a game, so.
- 9:51Oh, you did in the background there you.
- 9:54Go. I brought Borderlands 4, I
- 9:56brought Mafia, The old country. I'm just I'm thinking.
- 9:59Of oh, that looks great and I hate mafia shit 'cause I I just,
- 10:04I just do want, just, I don't wanna.
- 10:06Play little crime, just sick of it.
- 10:08No, but it's true. I, I just, they're not people
- 10:10I'm interested in role-playing as.
- 10:12They're not right. People.
- 10:14Italians. Italians hold in what is this
- 10:16Boston in the in the. 1900s. I'm I'm enjoying it so.
- 10:22Far old country. Looks very cool.
- 10:25Looks very. Cool, yeah, I'm enjoying it so
- 10:27far, but I'm also jumping between that Borderlands 4.
- 10:31I've got Gears of War Reloaded, installing of course.
- 10:36How's Borderlands 4 on? Has Randy punched in the face at
- 10:41any point? No.
- 10:42No, it's only on PC. Not while Luke is saying it's
- 10:45fine. OK, yeah.
- 10:46So Randy only punches PC players.
- 10:48Gotcha. Yeah.
- 10:50And, and a lot of times with PC players, it's just maybe you
- 10:53need to accept you can't play an ultimate and a four year old
- 10:56machine. Just putting that out there.
- 11:01He's drunk the Kool. Aid.
- 11:02He's getting that sweet Gearbox money Licks.
- 11:05Well, that's true. I think people have gotten used
- 11:07to. Remember when we grew up, you
- 11:09could not play a new game on a computer that was six months
- 11:13old. You had to upgrade.
- 11:14Oh yeah, he's a more RAM, new video card, new something.
- 11:18Now you can actually buy something and it will last you
- 11:21years. And I think people are getting a
- 11:24bit used to that. And now this has come out and I
- 11:26think people are just Luke stands.
- 11:29I don't want to upgrade. OK, So if I'm just taking back
- 11:32to Microsoft for a SEC, so you're saying there might not be
- 11:37an Xbox 5 or whatever the. Fuck it will be an Xbox.
- 11:40Five, that's the case, OK. There will be.
- 11:43Well, let's say there's not. OK.
- 11:45But there's not going to be a six is I'm just trying to I'm
- 11:48just trying to say like are they going to stop manufacturing
- 11:51will? There be a 7 point, there might
- 11:52be a 7. They have they, they have.
- 11:55They have been saying for a long time there will be at least one
- 11:58more Xbox. But I guess it doesn't matter,
- 12:01it's a hypothetical and my question is what will I be able
- 12:04to play my Xbox games on in five years time?
- 12:07Anything. It's the whole idea is.
- 12:10But not an Xbox I I guess is my question right?
- 12:13You'll be able to get a controller, you get a dongle,
- 12:16you play it through your television, you play it through
- 12:19your computer, you play it through your phone.
- 12:21It's going to be just cloud. Or this handheld that comes out.
- 12:24OK, fair enough. Yeah, well, if that's the case.
- 12:26That's that's a lose, that's the future, the.
- 12:29Other interesting thing about the handhelds is they're not
- 12:31making these. So that could also be more freak
- 12:35more common is that third party put third parties making the
- 12:39consoles. That could be the next thing too
- 12:41right. Do you know OK, do you know you
- 12:44know for a fact that the Xbox fives in the.
- 12:47World seems very certain about it.
- 12:49Yeah, I have. From what I've read they they're
- 12:52wearing. Nelson in the room with you
- 12:53right now. Is he pulling the gun at you?
- 12:57I've always heard there's at least one more Xbox coming out.
- 13:01I think Sony are still the ones that are.
- 13:03No, no, don't do it. Sony are the ones that are still
- 13:08consoles are always going to be the thing.
- 13:10Microsoft are going, consoles are going away.
- 13:13We'll wait and see. Well, but a couple of game
- 13:16builders coming next week. Oh, you've got one.
- 13:19Yep, a pre-order one. Xbox.
- 13:21Yep. OK, interesting.
- 13:22I am very interested. To hear it runs locally right?
- 13:26It doesn't just do. Cloud, it runs locally yeah,
- 13:29it's got like a one terabyte hard drive on it, so I'll be
- 13:31able to install and. It's pretty fucking impressive.
- 13:34So it's a Series X. Yeah, like, yeah.
- 13:39And like, I don't know the exact specs, but it's he.
- 13:42Didn't he? Didn't it's?
- 13:43Definitely up there like in a run Series 6.
- 13:45But no, it's only, it's only like even for Australia, it was
- 13:50like $1600. I don't, I don't know if that.
- 13:53Fuck, I mean, yes, yes, yes, that's.
- 13:55But don't. But I am.
- 13:56I am so poor at the moment, it is not funny.
- 13:59My switch too was 500 bucks. Hence why I didn't like.
- 14:03The other thing I'll look at with this is you can actually
- 14:05use it as APC like I've been using my other handheld.
- 14:08It's APC. Everything in your house you can
- 14:10use as APC you. Could use that recliner as ATC,
- 14:13yeah. You could use that.
- 14:15That long neck, that. Long neck can be run through my
- 14:18first VD episode. Brought to you by Victoria
- 14:21Bitter VB for a hard We'll be in Victoria for a hard earned
- 14:25thirst. It's my first non Vietnamese bee
- 14:29or non self Asian bee in two months.
- 14:35He's gone now. Well, I'm just about who you're
- 14:36on. Local no comments, you're over.
- 14:40There. Happened to be at a restaurant
- 14:42for lunch and they had Beel Lao on the menu and I was like.
- 14:44Did you feel that that Beel Lao had a strange after taste that
- 14:48was Luke's I? Didn't actually I quite liked
- 14:49it. Yeah, I don't remember it having
- 14:50a strange after taste either. I.
- 14:52Liked it enough to have more than one.
- 14:54Maybe that's why you don't remember.
- 14:56It could be. And, you know, people are very
- 14:58angry about the price hike, and there's been a lot.
- 15:01Like your little bit angriest? I wasn't angry, it just made me
- 15:05think about it. And like I said before, had I
- 15:08thought of it, made me think about it in a way that had I
- 15:11thought not thought about it, I might have just continued to
- 15:12pay. But actually really, I made me
- 15:16realize I probably shouldn't be paying for it at all because I
- 15:19don't use it so. Yeah, that's that's a good
- 15:21point. What I felt.
- 15:22About Netflix until Alien Earth came out and now I'm like.
- 15:26Netflix. No Netflix, I didn't worry.
- 15:28About EA At the moment, EA is gonna be a lot.
- 15:31Because they got bought by Saudi in.
- 15:32A few months. Yeah, that's it was unusual.
- 15:35And been. Brought with debt, I can't wait
- 15:38till part of the. Deal is just.
- 15:41Stimulator comes out. Out of the deal is $20 billion
- 15:44of debt, so they want to make that money back as quickly as
- 15:48possible. So oh God, I don't know how you
- 15:51can buy stuff with debt. Well, yeah, I don't know, it's
- 15:55all a bit dodge anyway. Look, there's lots of dodgy
- 15:59stuff to talk about tonight. We could talk about.
- 16:02We could. Luke, I'm just going to rattle
- 16:04off some some of the things and you tell me whether we're
- 16:06talking about them now or in the after party.
- 16:08OK? All right.
- 16:09You ready? P Diddy.
- 16:11OK. Give me a second.
- 16:12I'm just turning some stuff off because my connection sucks.
- 16:16Everything's off, Go for it. Just reach into your asshole and
- 16:20turn something off. That's what it looked like.
- 16:22I'm gonna. I want the listeners to think
- 16:24that's what. You can get ones that you can
- 16:25control from your. Phone Luke Assholes.
- 16:31Yes. Luke, you'll be pleased to know
- 16:34we've got some Neil Gaiman follow up.
- 16:37We've not stopped. About Neil Gaiman.
- 16:40No, we've got racism news. Yeah, we've got racist news
- 16:44today. Racist.
- 16:45News. Great.
- 16:46Yeah, we've got some Jesus Christ news.
- 16:49Yeah, you do. You said that.
- 16:51Isn't that him being back in the wrestling ring?
- 16:55We had some James Bond news that was so good it was in here twice
- 16:58at 1:00. .0 Yes, actually it was in there three times because I
- 17:01because I realised you'd put it in, I'd put it in and then I'd
- 17:03also pasted the incorrect link to something else.
- 17:06So. We can talk about that right now
- 17:09if you want. It it was James Bond day the
- 17:12other day I found out. Oh yes, and I saw a great meme
- 17:15and I I saved it to send it to you because I didn't want to
- 17:17send it before you were away. What's?
- 17:19James Bond's day. Yeah, Why was it James Bond day?
- 17:24Why was it James Bond day? I know it's the 37 B of.
- 17:30He couldn't be July. Was it James Bond Day?
- 17:33It was James Bond Day because October 5th marks the world
- 17:35premiere of the first film. Doctor.
- 17:37No, that's why. Oh, OK.
- 17:39I mean, I mean. That's James Bond Film Day then,
- 17:42surely. And also that's not the first
- 17:44James Bond film. It's the first Sean Connery
- 17:48James Bond film. But anyway, whatever.
- 17:50I watched Automation, Secret Service.
- 17:53Just just quickly, we talked about that a little bit last
- 17:56week. I did watch it.
- 17:58It is slower than I recall. I did enjoy it still.
- 18:02And I think I ever noticed the fact that Jeff Leesby just has a
- 18:07fucking Australian accent. Yeah, I've never noticed that
- 18:09before until this time when I and I guess as a kid I didn't
- 18:13think of it. But well, I think in the 60s
- 18:16Australian accents sounded a little bit more British, though
- 18:18didn't. They, I mean, it does, it's not
- 18:20a very strong accent, but he is like, oh.
- 18:22That bloke never happened to the other.
- 18:24He's never happened to the other bloke, yeah.
- 18:25And yeah, he said. I remember that line and then
- 18:28when he said it, I was just like, oh, he's he's Australian.
- 18:30Yeah, he's Australian. Yeah.
- 18:33This is my bloody mind. I I've been on 2 tours for two
- 18:36different tours so I had to meet like two different tour groups.
- 18:38A lot of some thought I was from the UK to begin with somehow
- 18:42instead of Australia which I. Don't know.
- 18:46Yeah, that happened when Matt and I first went to America
- 18:49together. That's what everyone thought.
- 18:51Yeah, or New Zealand for some reason, just not Australia.
- 18:54Oh. Sure.
- 18:54Yeah, Yeah. No one knows about Australia.
- 18:58Yeah, that's right. I could never think of people
- 19:01thinking I did not have an Australian accent.
- 19:03It just blew my mind. Here's the meme I saw today.
- 19:06New James Bond movie James. If you can't overcome your
- 19:08generational trauma, you'll never discuss what it means to
- 19:11truly sacrifice Old James movie. Hi, my name is Rebecca Arse.
- 19:20They were a lot simpler. He There's so much woman hitting
- 19:24in this in an emergency Secret Service.
- 19:27He slaps. I don't remember Lazenby hitting
- 19:29a lot of women. I remember he slaps one really,
- 19:31really good and then there's another one a bit later on with
- 19:34the the Countess. They it's at the end of the
- 19:36movie and they're trying to escape Blofeld's thing in the
- 19:39Alps. He's a little.
- 19:40We've got all the time in the world for me, like.
- 19:42Yes. And then her dad, she's like,
- 19:46mom, we've got to go. And she goes, no, I'm not
- 19:47leaving without James. And she he's like, yes, you
- 19:49already punches her in the face and knocks her out her dad and
- 19:53then throws her in the helicopter.
- 19:55Yeah, we've got daughters. We understand.
- 19:58And then also the whole subplot of, you know, the guy, her dad
- 20:01is trying to get James Bond to marry his daughter.
- 20:04And and then he's like, I've kept an eye on everything you've
- 20:07done for my daughter, and Bond's like, everything.
- 20:09And he goes, yeah, don't worry about that.
- 20:14And he's like, I think I want you to marry her.
- 20:16And then there's something about she needs a man to Make Love to
- 20:20her until she loves him. Jesus.
- 20:23Like what the hell works? Hey, who says that about their
- 20:28own daughter? Yeah, BB, have you, have you
- 20:31ever told a woman that you're gonna?
- 20:33Fuck her too, she loves you. And see now well that.
- 20:35Goes. I mean, I've heard Mike Tyson
- 20:37say that, but that was about a man, yeah.
- 20:43Yeah, and it was. That was some fucking smack
- 20:46talk. That was the scariest shit I'd
- 20:48ever heard in my life. Hang on, fuck you till you love
- 20:51me, faggot. I'd have nightmares about that
- 20:53forever if my cousin said that to me.
- 20:56So it's slower than I remember and also this funny just because
- 21:00it's it's kind of an odd style after the Connery ones.
- 21:05Like the style of it's quite different.
- 21:06It's a bit more artsy and like the like the beach fight starts
- 21:10like really beautifully shot and stuff like that.
- 21:12It's some weird stuff like. Driftwood in the front
- 21:14foreground and stuff. Yeah, it's like, oh, this is
- 21:16nice. But then there's and there's a
- 21:20lot of long action scenes that are very cool, which I'm pretty
- 21:24sure that like that's what I probably liked about it, you
- 21:27know, that I'm remembering when I was a kid.
- 21:28But it does have a lot of really good long action scenes and the
- 21:31way they handle the cause. A lot of it is green screen,
- 21:33like all the skiing stuff, it's really green screen, but it's
- 21:36done quite well in that they're short shots and it's like kind
- 21:40of like like they worked around the limitations of that pretty
- 21:43well. I.
- 21:43Think. But he does.
- 21:46Do. No, but they don't show it for
- 21:49too long. It's like quiet.
- 21:50I was like, oh OK, they've they've been smart about it.
- 21:54But he's got so many 1 liners in this.
- 21:57Oh, really? Like they've been dubbed on.
- 21:59So like he's like, he's like he's fighting.
- 22:03And then Phil gets hit by a branch and then all of a sudden
- 22:05you just hear like it's clearly dubbed because he's branched off
- 22:09and then like he's like continuing his branch.
- 22:14Also, if I recall, it's from Her Majesty's On Her Majesty's
- 22:18Secret Service that the frilly the Austin Powers costume is
- 22:26based. On right, definitely.
- 22:29And it's pretty much a one to one.
- 22:30It's apples to apples too. Like, I mean, it looks
- 22:32ridiculous in a, right? Yeah, Oh yeah, no, but in in a
- 22:37fun way. Like yeah sure, but what I mean
- 22:39is like. But it has a very distinct look
- 22:41that's different to the others, I think.
- 22:43Yeah, because that whole sequence where they're up in the
- 22:45Alps thing and he's brainwashing the women and that.
- 22:47And then this is fucking awesome.
- 22:48Funny. So funny when he's like, because
- 22:51there's like 10 women there. And then just fucking James Bond
- 22:56and then the staff of the clinic or whatever it is.
- 22:59But then he goes to one of the women's rooms because she writes
- 23:02her number on his leg under the kilt.
- 23:04And that's that, that great line where she's writing on his leg
- 23:07with lipstick underneath. And then the and he's like, and
- 23:11then nurse says everything right?
- 23:12He goes, oh, yeah, it's just a slight stiffening.
- 23:17And then he goes to her room, bangs her and he tells her
- 23:22something about she says, oh, he goes, don't turn the light on.
- 23:25You look so lovely in the light of the fireplace or whatever.
- 23:28Oh, because he's supposed to be gay.
- 23:30And she says, oh, you didn't like Ben.
- 23:31And he said, oh, normally I don't, but you're such a such a
- 23:34picture here in the in the shadows or whatever.
- 23:36He says the same and then he goes back to his room and one of
- 23:37the other women is in his room and he just says the exact same
- 23:40things and bangs her as well. Like this is like literally 1
- 23:44after. The And you know what?
- 23:45I bet that wasn't in the script. And then lazily was like, you
- 23:48know what I did once I was at this resort with all these
- 23:51women, they all thought I was gay.
- 23:52And then I I literally banged each one of them one after the
- 23:55other. Yeah, but it's it's it's the
- 23:57exact same lines. I say, oh man, this is very,
- 24:01very James Bond. Love it.
- 24:02My, well, my favorite, not my favorite ever James Bond line,
- 24:07possibly my favorite Roger Moore James Bond line is though, is
- 24:11which one is it where he's going then to meet doctor so and so
- 24:15and then he meets her and he just goes a woman.
- 24:22Some good good woman action in this actually.
- 24:24The Countess beats the shirt of a bunch of dudes at the end.
- 24:27Oh, OK. Well, that was progressive at
- 24:29the time. Yeah, she kicks her ass.
- 24:31Yeah, it's normally been. For.
- 24:33Up where two women are trying to stab each other.
- 24:36Yeah. Yeah, which ones gonna get?
- 24:38That's a game, Yeah. But then the the the Bond girls
- 24:41always just kind of faint or they get punched.
- 24:43They literally get punched out like in From Russia with Love
- 24:46punched out and then Bond fights the Russian guy.
- 24:49And then sleeps. Does he?
- 24:49Fucking judo. Throw pussy galore in.
- 24:52Yeah, into the into the straw. They judo throw each other back
- 24:56and forth and then he just. OK, jumps.
- 24:57Oh that's that's less creepy if you're both doing it.
- 25:00Yeah, wow. Oh, if she's fighting back, it's
- 25:04less creepy. It's a fair fight then.
- 25:06He won and he gets to take his prize.
- 25:09Yeah, he's gonna fuck it though. She loves.
- 25:11It that's how it works, How? It works in James Bond.
- 25:15The Bond news is yeah. So it's sorry.
- 25:17That wasn't. The Bond's anniversary Goldeneye
- 25:21was back in theaters for a little bit.
- 25:22I didn't get a chance to go to see that, unfortunately.
- 25:26However, people have noticed this week.
- 25:28Amazon owns James Bond now, so all the movies of are up over
- 25:32there. Remove the gun from all the
- 25:34posters. On there now I understand that
- 25:38they want posters without guns, but these are the classic
- 25:40posters with just now they just. Photoshoot the guns out.
- 25:44They just go like that for more like this for no.
- 25:46Reason 1 looks so strange because he's just like he's
- 25:50like, remember this, He's still Yeah, he's going to punch you in
- 25:55the. Arm.
- 25:55Yeah, he's going to. Yeah.
- 25:57Made you look. It's just so interesting.
- 25:59I would love if I saw if I finally met Pierce Brosnan like.
- 26:04He punches you. That.
- 26:08Doesn't mean that anymore. Actually, I think that's like a
- 26:10isn't that a racist thing? I was about to say it either
- 26:13means gay, Nazi or racist with one of them.
- 26:17Oh, no, no, no, I don't think it is.
- 26:19I think it means inside job like it's we're telling you.
- 26:23Don't worry, this is a false flag.
- 26:26Oh, is that because I think people were talking about how
- 26:28Trump used to do this all the time when he was talking, but I
- 26:31think he just does that because. Yeah, no, I think before that it
- 26:34was turned into a hand and green nose.
- 26:37We're not talking about shootings and things.
- 26:39So if you saw that they meant, oh, that was a false one, don't
- 26:42worry about that. That's just letting the elites
- 26:44know that that's that's planned and not real and.
- 26:48Very good. I watched Just the Hunt for
- 26:51Osama bin Laden on Netflix this week.
- 26:52Three-part doco. Did they find him?
- 26:56They did find him. He was in a blue no no.
- 26:59Blue though. Was it a hot air?
- 27:01What? Who references that?
- 27:03Remember the thing about the kid that went up in the?
- 27:06I forget it. And then went missing and then
- 27:08he was in it. Was a hoax?
- 27:10Never mind, never mind. Fair enough.
- 27:12I don't remember the kid that got there was a kid that they
- 27:16their father tried to go viral so pretended his kid trapped in
- 27:20a balloon and flew off and yeah, but.
- 27:23It was a hoax, yeah. There's it with hoaxes, man.
- 27:26Like you're definitely gonna get caught as.
- 27:28Dad was doing this at the whole time and knowing the whole.
- 27:31Time you should have known. If you'd asked me last week, I
- 27:34would have said that my interest in 911 and all things related
- 27:36are at best don't really care and at worst a bit tedious.
- 27:41I've heard about it a lot, right.
- 27:42I don't know why I clicked on this.
- 27:44I honestly don't know why, but it's so well made.
- 27:47It's it's so thrilling. But this is like the
- 27:50establishment's version. Like this is so pro CIA like
- 27:54it's, it's, it's, it's all like it's, it's very biased.
- 27:58You know, there's no, there's it's, it's, it's a one.
- 28:02Size Bunny. I've got the the hunt.
- 28:04Let's. Go get him and we the hunt for.
- 28:06Him was I remember hearing at. The yeah, yeah.
- 28:10Yeah. Very, very beginning.
- 28:13They actually said we think he's fighting in Pakistan.
- 28:16So yes. So no guns.
- 28:17They never went. They haven't said anything about
- 28:19it as far as I can tell. I mean, it's fairly.
- 28:20Obvious. I just did 1 guns on their
- 28:21posters. Like, yeah, I mean, it's not a
- 28:23big deal. It's just that we know these
- 28:25posters. It just looks odd because, yeah,
- 28:26because exactly the Connery's there like this.
- 28:28And it's like, well, there any reason he's standing like that?
- 28:30It's because he's holding the gun like.
- 28:32Yeah, yeah, to. Like, yeah.
- 28:35Put something else in his hand. OK, A cigarette.
- 28:37No, Fuck no. We can't show anything in this
- 28:39movie. Serene.
- 28:41Look, it's a fist that he's going to use to punch a woman.
- 28:45Luke's falling off the Internet. Hang on, Luke, hang on.
- 28:48We're not catching any. We're getting any of this.
- 28:51He's still talking about bin Laden.
- 28:55Yeah, Yes, they, they addressed that.
- 28:58So what they did was they they bombed the caves in Pakistan,
- 29:02but then didn't send in any drought, grab any drowned
- 29:05troops. So no, we still kind of eat.
- 29:09Luke. I'm sure what you're saying is,
- 29:11is really. Oh, no, no, no.
- 29:13He's gone. He's either he's gone frozen or
- 29:15he's just looking at me. Yeah, he's just disgusted in
- 29:17this. Could be either Live from
- 29:20Australia says in his tagline. I don't think so mate, I don't.
- 29:22Think so? No, no, no, that makes sense
- 29:24actually, because I've. Oh.
- 29:25Oh great, now there's two of him.
- 29:28Oh, it's Tuke Alderson. Weren't you the 1 recording?
- 29:32Oh it just records. Stream Yard is the one
- 29:34recording. I'm not saying we talk about
- 29:36this now, Matt, but did you read this racism news for this week?
- 29:39Very funny. I've seen the.
- 29:42I've seen it in here. I think it's.
- 29:43I assume this is the one you mean. #21.
- 29:46Yeah, I, I did not know that. I did not hear about that, but
- 29:48hello, welcome back. No idea what happened, but I'm
- 29:51here moving on. Matt, you saw a movie this week
- 29:55that I want to watch. Oh, I did.
- 29:57Yeah, I did. I watched Weapons the Zach.
- 29:59Cragger I wanna see that. Horror film weapons.
- 30:02It's fucking really good. Really good one.
- 30:05Really different. Really is.
- 30:06This available in Italy or did you go to the cinema?
- 30:10I set sail, so I was Yeah, good. It is available.
- 30:14It's, you know, if you liked barbarian, you'll like this.
- 30:17Basically, it's not, not doesn't.
- 30:20Like the bad? News like like barbarian does,
- 30:23it's like more of a slow. Yeah, fine.
- 30:26You know, revealed, but you know, the premise of the film is
- 30:30the, the, the, the tagline is or whatever.
- 30:32You know the synopsis. It's a set in a small town.
- 30:36One night at 2:17 AM, all the kids from one class at the local
- 30:40elementary school. Oh yes.
- 30:42Run off into the night and then disappear.
- 30:45No one knows where they. Are they run off really weird?
- 30:47Like don't with their arms. With their arms out and the town
- 30:50is trying to all the towns trying to figure out what the
- 30:52fuck is going. On weird details like that that
- 30:55make these stories the creepiest, it's got all.
- 30:58Yeah, it's it's got a lot He's he's good, man.
- 31:00He's it's got a lot of weird creepy shit.
- 31:02And then and and also like barbarian, lots of detail in
- 31:08side characters that, you know, sometimes you don't get that
- 31:10these days. Like it's, it's a very just a
- 31:13very fleshed out world. All the characters are very
- 31:15interesting, lots of weird. Creepy these days.
- 31:17Do I have to take you back to the, the, the horror movies of
- 31:20the 70s and 80s, Matt, that we grew up?
- 31:21Yeah, fair enough. Even the main characters didn't
- 31:24have characters. Fair enough it's but it's all
- 31:28very fleshed. Out.
- 31:29We're teenagers and we're at camp.
- 31:31I hope nobody stabs us today. Yeah, the plot is they wanna
- 31:34fuck each other and this guy wants to murder them.
- 31:36That's the plot. Or someone in his family does.
- 31:38Auto no. I'll go Alien.
- 31:41They fleshed out some of those side characters a little bit.
- 31:44So we're all about like, we want to get paid.
- 31:45Like where's our car? That's that's the kind of thing
- 31:47I'm talking about is that they feel like real people and but
- 31:51there's this fucking weird shit going on.
- 31:53It's anyway, it's very good I. Forget to count when I think
- 31:57about horror from that era, but it you're right, it's 100%
- 32:01horror movie before it's science fiction or anything.
- 32:03And yes, you're right, the characters are great.
- 32:06Like the space truckers, they've got space trucker concerns.
- 32:10Yeah, but not even they are not even 1 unit brain like those
- 32:14two. I can't even remember what they
- 32:16but they argue about shit you know they don't want.
- 32:18They want more. Yeah.
- 32:20Not Burke. Burke's from Aliens.
- 32:22Yeah, I know the the two the the engineering guys.
- 32:25Yeah, yeah. Yeah, it's great.
- 32:27Yeah. They argue about the fact that
- 32:28they don't want to go look at the distress call, but they have
- 32:30to, otherwise they lose their share of the thing.
- 32:32You understand everybody's motivations and it's all very
- 32:35Yeah, yeah, that's great. Yeah.
- 32:37The weapons. Scene and Matt, I know, I know I
- 32:39told you that I liked Alien Earth, but I I will, I will say.
- 32:44You gone back on it now. No, it's not that I've gone back
- 32:46on it, but it's just like the more you think about it.
- 32:49No, I haven't even watched anymore.
- 32:50It's just I've thought about the the stuff I've already watched
- 32:53and I like it less the more I think about it.
- 32:55You know what I mean? It's like while I'm watching it,
- 32:57I'm OK, and then afterwards I'm like, why is this happening?
- 33:00Yeah. Yeah, there's a lot of stuff
- 33:02like that. And I also something I found out
- 33:04really interesting this week is apparently he wanted to set it
- 33:09later. Whoever he was told no, no, no,
- 33:13it's got to we want it to be a prequel, which and I was like, I
- 33:16think I feel like if it was set later, there's a bunch of stuff
- 33:19that would bother me less. I just think the fact that it it
- 33:24set in a timeline where it is undermines so much about
- 33:27everything that comes after it. Because a lot of the tension of
- 33:31the Alien films is like fuck man if one of these things get to
- 33:34Earth. Yeah, if like 1.
- 33:36Literally, yeah, that's literally a lot of the tension
- 33:39in those movies. And then now it's like, Oh no,
- 33:40there's already a bunch of them, don't worry about it.
- 33:42Like I. Don't know, it's just.
- 33:45Yeah, yeah, you can. You can baseball bat them.
- 33:48Yeah, exactly. Yeah, Well, I don't want to
- 33:50spoil anything, but. Oh no, you can't.
- 33:53It's. Fine, you know, in case we don't
- 33:54spoil it. OK, we've got fucking people can
- 33:56one of the synths can just talk to them and tell them what to
- 33:58do. And it's this little pet now.
- 34:00Like it's just, there's so much stuff about it that I'm like.
- 34:05The hot synth. There's a hot sync now.
- 34:10I'm assuming I know which one you mean.
- 34:11No, not that one. No, the the first sequence in
- 34:18the first episode was like Ridley Scott back in the 70s,
- 34:21shot an extra 20 minutes that he didn't use and they whacked that
- 34:24on like it's because they're so good.
- 34:26The original idea was that that ship was sent out because of
- 34:30Alien, and it's like, well that makes so much more sense.
- 34:32Yeah, yeah, yeah. Like, keep that, keep David
- 34:35Spate's original setting for Prometheus and everything
- 34:38continues better than it currently does.
- 34:40Stop. Whereas what they've done, for
- 34:42some reason, the studio said no, no, no, we want it set
- 34:44beforehand. And so it's like, OK, yeah, it's
- 34:46just a bit weird now. Just going back to what you were
- 34:48saying about knowing everyone's motivation in the Alien movie,
- 34:52you also found out everything you needed to know about the
- 34:55company in that movie, everything they wanted you to
- 34:58know without any real conversations about it.
- 35:01And then this starts by someone going.
- 35:03Waylon Utani. Yeah.
- 35:05Don't they own spaceships? They do.
- 35:07In fact, they own the one we're on now.
- 35:09Like, it's. Yeah.
- 35:12Like, Luke, I'm not exaggerating all that much, really.
- 35:15It's. It's it's very, but I do.
- 35:17Have a question mark too? They don't trust the audience to
- 35:20figure things to to. Understand aliens on Earth even
- 35:24before this if you go off Aliens versus Predator.
- 35:28No. We, we don't.
- 35:30We don't. We don't talk about that.
- 35:32I mean the answer is yes, but no.
- 35:35I've seen far worse Alien movies than Alien versus Predator now,
- 35:38so it gets a pass. I know, who would have thought
- 35:40that? I mean, at least Alien versus
- 35:41Bros got Lance Hendrickson in it.
- 35:42Right, yes, which? That was just confusing though.
- 35:48They made it work. And he can't explain it.
- 35:50I can tell you that. I asked him.
- 35:51He said oh fucking. They just made him.
- 35:54They made all of them look like him, right?
- 35:56They were just like, oh, this one looks exactly like you.
- 35:58Well, that was him in Alien versus Predator, I believe.
- 36:01Like that's actually. Yeah, but that's why there are.
- 36:05Yeah, but then why don't any of the others look like him?
- 36:08It's all it all falls apart there.
- 36:09Why doesn't? Ash look like him there other
- 36:11engineers that work there I don't know fuck.
- 36:13Lance went there because they went, hey, he's a check, would
- 36:17you please tell him to do another movie?
- 36:18And he said yes, please. Where do I sign?
- 36:22And what's his name he played at?
- 36:25What's his name? Bilbo, Ash.
- 36:27Yes. Ian, he, he was like, Nah, I'm
- 36:31done. He wouldn't come back.
- 36:32So therefore he had to be Lance. Well, somebody made a face of
- 36:36him, didn't they? Is it?
- 36:37Was it? For Romulus, yeah, isn't.
- 36:39He. Yeah, terrible.
- 36:41Took that money, now he's in. He's passed on.
- 36:44Yeah, there's a lot of things that I don't know why he's in
- 36:46there in an otherwise perfectly good movie.
- 36:48Yeah, I really like Romulus. And then at a certain point I
- 36:50was just like, oh man, they've really.
- 36:52Tested my patience. Yeah, why is this happening?
- 36:55You could just tell it was studio interference.
- 36:57Make him. Say the line absolutely.
- 36:59No reason he should say that. Yeah, oh, the enemy was very I
- 37:02would have been OK with all of that.
- 37:04All of that was good. It's just that there's other the
- 37:06just some of the other stuff. It's just like like basically
- 37:11this Ash being there was so unnecessary.
- 37:14Like it really pulled me out of it because I just kept thinking
- 37:16why is he there? Doesn't make any sense.
- 37:19And I know it's not with him, but like this we've not
- 37:22established the fact that since all have to look the same
- 37:24because they don't look the same, There's a since it doesn't
- 37:26look like that in this fucking movie.
- 37:29Like, yeah, that's true, yeah. Anyway.
- 37:37Before we move off Alien, I was going to make a point.
- 37:39It's just all good. Speaking of horror movies, just
- 37:42briefly, this will be quick because I don't know a whole lot
- 37:44about this. I've just seen this trailer.
- 37:47If you ever wanted to see a horror movie about Jesus.
- 37:51Look, I hadn't, but I fucking do now.
- 37:55It's got Nicolas Cage in it as the Carpenter.
- 37:58It's not, apparently. So this is not, they're not
- 38:01explicitly saying anywhere here that it's Jesus, but it's Jesus
- 38:04and it's basically, well, you just looked at what it is.
- 38:07Yeah, I'm, I'm watching the trailer now.
- 38:10It's about a Carpenter whose son has supernatural powers back in,
- 38:14like in, you know, just before 0. 18 in Nazareth in Nazareth
- 38:19and his son's got. Supernatural powers and it just
- 38:23looks fucking great. Someone's getting nailed to a
- 38:26cross, so. You're going to say Nicolas Cage
- 38:28is going to be Jesus? No, it's his son, just called
- 38:33the boy. So Nicolas Cage plays Joseph as
- 38:37in Mary Ann Joe Joseph Carpenter.
- 38:40And it's. A of the Carpenter.
- 38:42That's just movie. Has you just accepted that she
- 38:45got pregnant without him having sex with her and just went Yep
- 38:50God God would be pregnant? OK, it's.
- 38:53Just it's described as a genre bending spectacle that defies
- 38:56expectations at every turn. And I think it's going to be
- 38:58fucking great. It's.
- 38:59Defying my expectations just by watching this trailer because
- 39:03even though you you'd put in the spreadsheet what it was, this is
- 39:07not what I was expecting. This isn't some be horror.
- 39:11This is this shock, like it's beautiful, made for the
- 39:14Christian channel, like it's looks like it's done really
- 39:17well. Yeah.
- 39:19The film tells the dark story of a family hiding out in Roman
- 39:22Egypt, known only as the Boy. The Son is driven to doubt by
- 39:25another mysterious child and rebels against his guardian, the
- 39:28Carpenter, revealing inherent powers and a fate beyond his
- 39:31comprehension. As he exercises his own power,
- 39:34the Boy and his family become the target of horrors both both
- 39:37natural and divine. It looks fucking great.
- 39:41It's basically it's, yeah. Jesus.
- 39:43As a horror movie, yes. As a horror, OK, Speaking of
- 39:45young horrors have. You seen?
- 39:47Actually, have you seen there's another horror movie coming out?
- 39:52It's called Very Young Frankenstein all.
- 39:56Right. Is it Mel Brooks?
- 39:59Yeah, yes, he's 100 and he's written this.
- 40:02Excellent. Well in pre production I take
- 40:05it. When I was a kid I legitimately
- 40:08thought that Mel Brooks coined the phrase asshole because I'd
- 40:11only ever heard it said in Mel Brooks movie.
- 40:16I was like, there's like Mel Brooks humor again.
- 40:19Just before we move on from horror movie.
- 40:21So have you seen that the makers of the Winnie the Pooh horror
- 40:24movie have a new one coming here?
- 40:27What is? It then something else, right?
- 40:29OK. So it's lapsed into public
- 40:31domain now, has it? Yep, so I think it's Bambi's
- 40:36mother. I don't.
- 40:37I've only seen a very short trainer and I'm assuming it's
- 40:39Bambi. Mother gets killed and Bambi
- 40:41goes on a murderous rampage. I'm I'm imagining it's I spit on
- 40:45your grave, but with a deer. Oh, it's called Bambi the
- 40:48Reckoning. Oh my God, look at this.
- 40:50OK, look at this poster. Oh fucking hell yeah.
- 41:01I think it's just going to be this company's thing now.
- 41:04Absolutely. They're just waiting for
- 41:07anything to come out in public domain and they're they're
- 41:09basically already filming something ready to release.
- 41:12Great. Business.
- 41:14Model. OK.
- 41:15There's more that I support the whole library.
- 41:17I don't even necessarily want to watch this or the Winnie the
- 41:20Pooh one, but I'm glad somebody's doing it.
- 41:23This trailer looks great, all right, I mean.
- 41:26Oh, there's a trailer even. Yeah.
- 41:28Oh look, it's it was. It's from the director of the
- 41:31Straight to DVD Mummy Reborn. Oh, that's the one.
- 41:36We're with Jet Li, right? Mummy Reborn.
- 41:39Yeah, I think it is. Is it reborn or is it?
- 41:43No, not even. Not.
- 41:45Not even that one. Jeez, what is?
- 41:47That it's got literally no one you've ever heard of in it.
- 41:50You don't. Need anyone anymore?
- 41:52You don't need anyone. It's meant you're meant to think
- 41:55it is, though, by a little by a lot of the signifiers on this
- 41:58poster. Absolutely.
- 42:00Yeah. No, you don't need stars
- 42:01anymore. Stars.
- 42:02That's the whole thing about how the movie stars don't make
- 42:05movies anymore. It's about no franchises and.
- 42:09Well, there are 1,000,000 great actors out there.
- 42:11Why do you need to have the draw card anymore?
- 42:15Just let Gary Oldman play all the parts.
- 42:18Yeah, he could do it. Eddie Murphy can do it, and Gary
- 42:21Oldman can. I'd love to see Eddie Murphy do
- 42:24like I would get Gary Oldman do an Eddie Murphy style movie but
- 42:26like dead serious. Like no jokes, just.
- 42:29Didn't Jerry? Didn't Jerry Lewis star
- 42:32professor? Oh yeah, you're right.
- 42:34Yeah, and it was Jerry Lewis and it and it was there is some.
- 42:37Oh yes. Oh, he just played.
- 42:41Oh, anyway. There's also one called the
- 42:44Absent Minded Professor which I've heard.
- 42:47Of that. They remade as Flubber.
- 42:51Oh yes. In the absent minded professor,
- 42:53he invented Flubber. Yeah, OK.
- 42:56I get those two mixed up too. Gary Oldman is in the news this
- 42:59week because, Oh yes, he is. He was knighted.
- 43:03Yes. He's Sir Gary.
- 43:05My turn to be knighted. Now, yeah.
- 43:08His real voice is more than his acting voice, he just sounds
- 43:11very chilled out when he talks normally.
- 43:13Yeah, I saw this interview with him when he was like some bird
- 43:16came in and said would you sign my left breast or I want to get
- 43:21it tattooed over? And I said, have you got a pen?
- 43:26But he's just, yeah, he just, he seems very cool because he's he
- 43:31he's such a good actor and he plays some very intense
- 43:33characters. And then just here, just hearing
- 43:35him talking right now when he's just talking normal.
- 43:38This is so strange. He's just like such.
- 43:41A I'll put this out to our listeners.
- 43:43If you want my signature tattooed on you, just let me
- 43:45know or happily sign away. Yeah.
- 43:48All right. I did read some stuff about Gary
- 43:53Oldman that made me not like him as much though.
- 43:55Oh no, Oh no, He. Has he done bad stuff?
- 44:00No, no, no, it's all consensual. It's just not something that
- 44:02fits in with my personal morals. No, I didn't feel, I feel with
- 44:07celebrities. He.
- 44:08Says you had to point out when this is this.
- 44:11Too young are we talking? No, no, no, no.
- 44:14He he was living in England with his wife and his a little baby.
- 44:20And then and then a Hollywood production came to film a movie.
- 44:24He got a part in it. He liked the look of the female
- 44:27lead, Miss Uma Thurman. And she said come to America
- 44:32with me and you can be famous. And he did.
- 44:35And he left his wife and his kid and went off with her and shit.
- 44:38I was like, oh, that's not nice. But I mean, that was probably
- 44:41his big break, you know what I mean?
- 44:42We probably thank her for putting.
- 44:45Thanks. For the professional.
- 44:46You're in motion. But yeah, but but I just was.
- 44:50She was she and I go. Well, it's like when you.
- 44:53I would explain it. When you.
- 44:55Yeah, but don't you love seeing like this is Lionel Messi's
- 44:58girlfriend. He's.
- 44:59She's been with him since before he was fake.
- 45:01Oh, I love all that stuff. Yeah, yeah, he's Brosnan as
- 45:03well. Well, it's sort of weird.
- 45:05Like, until I found out that Harrison Ford used to sleep
- 45:07around, I always thought that him and his first wife were
- 45:11Yeah, someone who were going to be together forever.
- 45:13Until he found out he was fucking Carrie Fisher, then just
- 45:16left her for Lisa Flockhart or whatever her name is and was
- 45:21sleeping around the lot. You think he was a nice guy?
- 45:23I'm. Sure.
- 45:24He was. There's no he about it though.
- 45:26I, I mean, I think Harrison Ford was, was the real life James
- 45:29Bond. To be honest, that's how I
- 45:31imagined his life. And I don't think I'd.
- 45:32Probably do a movie about. I don't.
- 45:33Think less of him knowing the stuff 'cause I already thought
- 45:35that. Like true, I do.
- 45:37No, I do really think less of him for the Carrie Fisher story
- 45:40where she's basically 18 year old girl.
- 45:43The crew got her drunk and the crew was gonna.
- 45:47The crew will get to take advantage of her.
- 45:49So Harrison Ford rescued her by going to get in the car.
- 45:56I'll take you away and then. Frozen.
- 46:00Yep, had his way 10. Year old guy I've.
- 46:04Dropped out again. Yes, Oh, I've.
- 46:07Story I've just. Started to get into that story
- 46:10and he fell off completely. You heard 18 year old girl.
- 46:15Girl. The crew were about to.
- 46:18I'm back. There you go.
- 46:20So. So what did you do, Luke?
- 46:22Oh, don't you remember the Carrie future?
- 46:25No, actually this method. Yeah, you were there, Matt.
- 46:29You were on that crew. Remember?
- 46:32We were trying to get a drunk. And then Harrison kept going to
- 46:36be like, come on, get my couch. Yeah, yeah, my cars let me let
- 46:39me take you away. We should do a short film where
- 46:42we play the rest of the guy's gone and she just left with him.
- 46:45He wasn't even there. I've been here for 45 minutes.
- 46:49I'm giving. Too much to dream. 5 minutes.
- 46:55Have you seen that? As they, they, they go around on
- 46:57social media all the time. There's photos of her trying on
- 46:58in the movie. There's photos of her trying on
- 47:01Peter Weller's glasses at that award ceremony.
- 47:05Yeah man mate, what a hottie. She was, but I think she made
- 47:10her way through the A list of Britain and America in the late
- 47:1570s and early 80s you. Know what I mean?
- 47:17Like includes in case you're like Oh no, no, no.
- 47:20She fuck, she would admit this. She yeah, you know, admit this
- 47:24like live in person. She talks about it all the time.
- 47:26She yeah, I fucked. Everybody like if if, if you.
- 47:28She didn't give a shit. If you type in Carrie Fisher
- 47:31lovingly staring at there'll be a list of different celebrities.
- 47:36She's just. Like she wounded so much she she
- 47:39needed to at a young age to a gay actor on Broadway.
- 47:44I don't know. Jesus, my goodness.
- 47:47Me. And I think her mother was
- 47:49supportive of this. Right.
- 47:51Oh yeah, that could be famous too.
- 47:52What? Debbie Reynolds, Debbie.
- 47:54Reynolds, that mum, Debbie Reynolds.
- 47:56That's right, yeah. It's a documentary about it.
- 47:58Mum is. Debbie Reynolds singing in the
- 47:59rain. Is that who I'm thinking of?
- 48:01Debbie Reynolds didn't. Didn't Carrie Fisher's dad leave
- 48:04her mum for Elizabeth Taylor or something?
- 48:08She had a very messed up life because Debbie.
- 48:11Reynolds was, yeah, a very holy messed up.
- 48:14Life, yeah. And listeners, listeners, if
- 48:17you're, if you're young and you think Elizabeth Taylor, that old
- 48:21lady, fucking Google Elizabeth Taylor 18, then come back to me.
- 48:25But that was back in the day, like where they weren't getting
- 48:29paid a lot of money. They were being fed drunk my
- 48:32friend. Flickr to right now and tell me
- 48:34that that's not the most beautiful woman in the world in
- 48:361959. We're like movie stars today,
- 48:39that we're rich. The studio would pay for
- 48:42everything for them, but they weren't.
- 48:44Telling Ellen, telling them that they'd tell little kids that
- 48:47parents were dead so that they would get a good crying.
- 48:50Scene. That's right.
- 48:50Yeah. Quickly on horror films.
- 48:53Before we go, there's a new trailer for Frankenstein and it
- 48:56looks fucking incredible. Yeah, I haven't seen the trailer
- 48:59yet, but I do. Watch this Frankenstein.
- 49:01Wonderful. Yeah, I'll probably try and go
- 49:05see that in the movies, to be honest, because just because I I
- 49:07watched the sort of trailer and it looks like I want to see that
- 49:10on a big screen. I want to see this in a a little
- 49:14movie cinema, like one with the old projector and you can still
- 49:18kind of hear the rain outside. It looks visually reminded me a
- 49:22lot of Crimson Peak, as we call it, Crimson Peak, which that was
- 49:27visually stunning. So yeah, I'm into it.
- 49:30Gila Deltour is great. I'm trying to get back into like
- 49:34regular it's. Amia.
- 49:36Trying to get back into regular timeframes, I thought I'll go.
- 49:38I'm going. To finally do that, there's
- 49:39nothing on for the name of this episode.
- 49:42It's Amia. Yeah, me, I got.
- 49:46No. My funniest joke that Matt's
- 49:47ever done is for no. Me no.
- 49:48There's not right now, actually. I'm sorry.
- 49:51I think we're having some trouble with your connection,
- 49:52Luke. But I did hear what you said,
- 49:54and hopefully I'm not. Talking yet we made it out by.
- 49:56Yes, there is nothing on at the theaters right now.
- 49:57I looked the other day because I was trying to look to see when
- 49:59Gold and I was on. Yeah, nothing.
- 50:03Yes, yeah, we did. We did.
- 50:06I've even written it into the spreadsheet.
- 50:12It's Orson Welles, just funny. See you anything?
- 50:17Sorry Luke, your connection is behind and it's no very funny.
- 50:21I don't feel like I'm behind. We're just a bad thing.
- 50:23Oh. Good.
- 50:25You absolutely are though, unless you unless you didn't
- 50:28just say that. Let me try and stand up and get
- 50:32a better reception. While Luke's catching up, man, I
- 50:35was reminded of something today that I had not thought about in
- 50:39many, many decades. Did you?
- 50:41You, you a little kid in in England?
- 50:43Did. Did you ever watch Worzel
- 50:45Gummidge? Yes, of course.
- 50:47Worzel, Gummidge. You thought about it lately,
- 50:49because I sure hadn't. Luke, do you know where this is?
- 50:53It's this I have. No idea what this is.
- 50:55Dark Show Kids show in England about scarecrows.
- 50:59Scarecrow. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 51:02So the the costume is very creepy.
- 51:05Wait, who is that guy? Now that I'm looking at it, I'm
- 51:07like, who was that? Actor Mackenzie Crook is
- 51:10developing a remake. Oh, of course he is.
- 51:13Oh, is it? Holy shit.
- 51:14It's Jon Pertwee. It's Doctor.
- 51:16Who? That's right.
- 51:16OK, That's who it is. Yeah, Yeah.
- 51:19Yeah, yeah. Well, didn't know that when I
- 51:20was watching this as a kid, because when I was a kid,
- 51:22Sylvester McCoy was Doctor Who and no one else.
- 51:25Was that and also Cat Weasel is the other show I remember from
- 51:28when I was a kid. Yeah, Cat Weasel was a very
- 51:31strange Is it? Cat Weasel is a magician from
- 51:33the time of the Normans who is cast into the future by magic.
- 51:37Yes. Yes, the only one I can probably
- 51:40think of that I would know from that time would be the Wombles.
- 51:44Oh yeah, the Wombles. Yeah, same time.
- 51:45Yeah, Yep, Yep. Of.
- 51:47The land under. Well, hold on, hold on.
- 51:49The Wombles. Tingwell.
- 51:51Is in. The Australian dog wait.
- 51:54What cat weasel's Australian is it?
- 51:56No, no, no, no, Bud Tingwell, the lawyer from the cast.
- 52:00Wells, Bud Tingwell of the and the Pitch Week kids.
- 52:04Yes, yes. But I always think Bud Tingwell
- 52:09is a made-up person because of that sketch.
- 52:11Luke Yes, I have to remind myself.
- 52:13So do I. That part of it is real.
- 52:15Yeah. Yeah, you've.
- 52:16Already seen cat weasel. Oh no, it's a British show or an
- 52:18Australian show? No, 100% no, it is British.
- 52:20OK. Yeah, it's the most British
- 52:22thing there is. But I don't want to watch the
- 52:26wonderdoy. And horror from England from the
- 52:2970s and like it's. Do you remember the show Chucky?
- 52:33Chucky. Chucky yeah.
- 52:35It's about a kid who has like, he, they think it's an imaginary
- 52:38friend, but it's actually like an alien being that he talks to.
- 52:41That's just energy. And I remember the liking the
- 52:45show a lot as a kid. And I've read the book at some
- 52:47point, and it's actually really, really, I think it's been a
- 52:50while. I remember it being really,
- 52:52really good. Yes.
- 52:54Oh, it's based on a John Wyndham novel.
- 52:56OK. Yeah.
- 52:58Yes, kid has an invisible extraterrestrial friend.
- 53:01But aren't they now trying to get away from kids talking to
- 53:05their imaginary friends to tell secrets?
- 53:07Probably. I think they're trying to get
- 53:08away from a lot of the shit we used to watch as kids because
- 53:10they've realized. This is why it's not
- 53:11philosophicalism. Weird.
- 53:13I am. I am going.
- 53:15To for that reason. Oh.
- 53:17Yeah, right. Yeah, his imaginary friend.
- 53:20You. Shouldn't tell secrets to your
- 53:21imaginary friend, you should tell it to your parents.
- 53:24Yeah, yeah, to actual. People adult.
- 53:27Yep. John Wyndham and cheap made for
- 53:32TV British adaptations from the 70s has reminded me.
- 53:35Matt. I assume you didn't, Luke.
- 53:37Maybe you did. I don't want to.
- 53:38I don't want to profile you as not the horror guy.
- 53:41Matt, did you ever watch the TV series Day of the Triffids?
- 53:46Yes, that was fucking good and I watched that a couple of years
- 53:48ago. Oh, Luke did watch it.
- 53:50Good, good, I. Haven't seen it yet.
- 53:52Yeah, this is great because the, I mean, the, the, the start, I
- 53:55mean the premise people is everyone on Earth, there's a
- 53:58meteor shower, everyone else goes blind looking at it and
- 54:03alien plants kill everyone and they can't run or hide because
- 54:06they're blind. But it starts off much like 28
- 54:08days later. It's it's somebody who was in
- 54:10hospital while that was happening.
- 54:12And so he's OK and he had eye surgery and so he's been
- 54:17bandaged, which is why he had, he's the only person in England
- 54:19who hasn't gone blind. But that's this really great
- 54:22thing because he gets his, the other makes a call or gets a
- 54:24dictaphone and starts talking about how fucking talking.
- 54:27But then he starts going, yeah, at 7:00, the sun's going to
- 54:31start to come up and, and you can see that it's well after
- 54:34that. And the sun's already streaming
- 54:36through. And you know, he doesn't, he
- 54:38doesn't know what time it is. He thinks it's much earlier.
- 54:40And it's just without, without anybody saying anything.
- 54:44They're just set up in this one shot.
- 54:46OK, something has fucked up and this guy doesn't know about it
- 54:49yet. That and day of the not day off,
- 54:52just the tripods is another yes thing I used to watch and I read
- 54:57the books and is it that the opening scene of Tripods
- 55:02actually really scared me when I was little because they I don't
- 55:04know if you it's like the village of people.
- 55:06So basically the premise of Tripods is that these aliens
- 55:08from another planet, they're in these big metal machines with
- 55:11three legs and they go. Four of the world's, really.
- 55:13Yeah, right. But in the opening sequence of
- 55:16the show is like this village, and I think it's opening of the
- 55:19book too, villages, they give you the young people go and then
- 55:23they the tripods take them up into the tripod and they put
- 55:26this little cap, skull cap thing on them, this little metal
- 55:29thing. But it like sucks them up in a
- 55:31tube. And it was, yeah, fucking scared
- 55:33the shit out of me when I. Was like, yeah.
- 55:35Yeah, like my go to. When I think about it now I go.
- 55:39Yeah, my go to I'm sure if I. Looked it up on YouTube, it
- 55:41would look ridiculous because it's the 80s.
- 55:44Yeah, I go the Andromeda straight.
- 55:46I just love that movie growing up, which I don't think it's
- 55:49really horror more. That was that weird genre of
- 55:53like government tests in the desert that could end badly for
- 55:59everyone genre. That was only in there.
- 56:02Basically and early 80s. Like.
- 56:03Like Copenhagen? Yeah, like an asteroid here and
- 56:07there's this. It's brought a disease that they
- 56:10don't know what it does and it's killing everyone.
- 56:11They're trying to find what what it is and how to stop it.
- 56:15Disaster movie, I guess you'd call it.
- 56:17Would you like that? Genre Pandemics.
- 56:21Oh, don't talk about pandemics. No, we'll get a little citation
- 56:25over the video. Yeah, yeah.
- 56:27You know what they didn't have back then?
- 56:28They would have sorted it out. Ivamecton.
- 56:31Yeah, yeah. Well, it is time for the after
- 56:35party. Well, I don't have no idea
- 56:38what's coming up in the after party because I have no access
- 56:41to anything so. Good, you have no idea what's
- 56:45coming. No like.
