- 0:02Speaker 1: Two Teas in a Pod with Teddy Mellancamp and Tamra Jedge. Hi, guys,
- 0:10Speaker 1: welcome to this week's Two Teas in a Pod with myself,
- 0:13Speaker 1: Teddy Mellencamp and Tamra Judge. Who we have it on today?
- 0:18Speaker 1: Tamp Oh my god, I am so excited for this
- 0:20Speaker 1: because this is one of my very good friends. He
- 0:23Speaker 1: knows everything about every housewife ever. Um it's Dave Quinn.
- 0:28Speaker 1: He's a journalist and also in New York Times best
- 0:31Speaker 1: seller author of Not All Done, Insen Rose. So very
- 0:37Speaker 1: on Dave. Hello, du beautiful. So you're coming to us
- 0:44Speaker 1: from New York. How is it in New York right now?
- 0:46Speaker 1: It's crazy. It's the Omni Crown or Santa cron as
- 0:51Speaker 1: I'm calling it variant. It's just spreading like crazy and
- 0:54Speaker 1: everyone is mar all over again. And you just got boosted.
- 0:59Speaker 1: I just got boosted. Now I feel more powerful than
- 1:02Speaker 1: ever to go to the holidays and deal with my family.
- 1:07Speaker 1: Right I'm that you can do it. I know I
- 1:12Speaker 1: can do it, but I feel like I can't do
- 1:13Speaker 1: it right now. It's holidays and years all that stuff,
- 1:15Speaker 1: and I'm afraid I'm gonna get sick. So many people
- 1:17Speaker 1: I know that got it got sick. You it was
- 1:19Speaker 1: only four I got sick, but it wasn't terrible. I
- 1:22Speaker 1: didn't actually get sick. Yeah, I got boosted, but it
- 1:25Speaker 1: was just like my arm and my neck hurt and
- 1:27Speaker 1: I was tired. Oh is that what you were laying
- 1:30Speaker 1: on the ground the other day? Yes, that's what I
- 1:32Speaker 1: was laying on the thing. Not dramatic at all. That
- 1:37Speaker 1: being said, I don't even know if it actually made
- 1:40Speaker 1: me feel that way or it's like the placebo sometimes,
- 1:43Speaker 1: like I'm the person like you will take an AD
- 1:44Speaker 1: film and I'll be like, oh, my headaches gone, no
- 1:47Speaker 1: idea for actually that one AD takes the property. Well,
- 1:52Speaker 1: I yeah I got. I got knocked on my butt
- 1:54Speaker 1: with it. But I was the same way with every dose.
- 1:56Speaker 1: It just it's the same thing. It's like just a
- 1:58Speaker 1: fever for twenty four hours goes away and and no
- 2:01Speaker 1: big deal. Yeah, we have like a mandate now mask
- 2:04Speaker 1: mandate in Orange County, which you know aren't Orange County
- 2:06Speaker 1: is very yeah, And I'm like, and I went to
- 2:10Speaker 1: the Malias day and I wore mine, and I'm like,
- 2:13Speaker 1: oh my god, everybody's actually not everybody, but nine ever
- 2:16Speaker 1: somewhere wearing masks. Really yeah, because only when I go
- 2:20Speaker 1: to Orange County, It's a completely different world out there.
- 2:22Speaker 1: I'm like, hello, what's happening l A. I can't even
- 2:25Speaker 1: leave my card out. I don't even like go into
- 2:27Speaker 1: l A right now. But I feel like it's just
- 2:29Speaker 1: so many people have it right now. I knew people
- 2:31Speaker 1: in the hospital with it right now. Um, and I
- 2:33Speaker 1: think everybody knows somebody that's gotten it. So people are
- 2:36Speaker 1: scared now. Yeah, I like them time, Yeah, about time,
- 2:40Speaker 1: right two years in, it's about time. I like the
- 2:43Speaker 1: mask because I like not being able to smile at anyone,
- 2:45Speaker 1: Like I like just kind of you know what. I like.
- 2:48Speaker 1: It's just so much easier to just be like yes
- 2:51Speaker 1: and not have to do all those things that you
- 2:53Speaker 1: do in public to kind of make people feel like,
- 2:56Speaker 1: you know, you're approachable. I don't have to worry about
- 2:58Speaker 1: at all. I was in a homegood yesterday and I
- 3:01Speaker 1: have my mask on and this lady breach for the
- 3:03Speaker 1: same thing as me, and it was a big one,
- 3:05Speaker 1: like one of those big and nine and whatever, and um,
- 3:09Speaker 1: I said, oh, I'm sorry, and she goes, do I
- 3:13Speaker 1: know you? Like? I don't think so, and she's like, wait,
- 3:18Speaker 1: your tama right, And I'm like, yeah, Like, how did
- 3:22Speaker 1: you even know how you suppose my eyeballs? So, Dave,
- 3:27Speaker 1: you're a New York Times bestseller. Now, can you give
- 3:30Speaker 1: us a little bit more history for those of listening
- 3:33Speaker 1: that aren't clear on who you are, how you got
- 3:36Speaker 1: involved in the book everything? Oh my god, Teddy, I
- 3:38Speaker 1: feel like nobody knows who I am, and I don't
- 3:40Speaker 1: want them to. I love being in the background. This
- 3:42Speaker 1: is the weirdest thing to be like the guest. I'm
- 3:45Speaker 1: used to interview with both of you, so it still
- 3:47Speaker 1: feels very strange. But I've worked for oh my gosh,
- 3:50Speaker 1: almost twenty years now as a journalist in the entertainment
- 3:53Speaker 1: fields for publications like People Magazine and Entertainment Weekly, amongst others,
- 3:57Speaker 1: and always reporting on Housewives. I kind of built a
- 4:00Speaker 1: long beat for myself in that world, and then about
- 4:05Speaker 1: two years ago started this process of what would it
- 4:08Speaker 1: be like if we did a book around housewives. I
- 4:10Speaker 1: was talking with Bravo about that and making it into
- 4:13Speaker 1: an oral history. In June when the world went you know,
- 4:17Speaker 1: it was in the midst of their lockdown and the
- 4:19Speaker 1: Black Lives Matter movement was beginning. I was. I was
- 4:23Speaker 1: interviewing women five, you know, five different ladies a day,
- 4:29Speaker 1: pretty pretty much. I spent the summer of doing this
- 4:32Speaker 1: book and doing uh, putting everybody together. So it was
- 4:35Speaker 1: a pretty intense experience. We talked to over five people
- 4:40Speaker 1: and about five hours of interviews, but getting it all
- 4:45Speaker 1: transcribed and put together it was wild. But yeah, that's
- 4:48Speaker 1: the process. And you just answered about ten of our questions. Sorry,
- 4:53Speaker 1: you know, it's good, it's good. Did anyone decline? Oh yeah,
- 4:59Speaker 1: already asked for money? Oh yeah, a lot of people
- 5:02Speaker 1: ask for money. I have. I was keeping track of
- 5:05Speaker 1: all that because I thought it was interesting. A lot
- 5:07Speaker 1: of people wanted to get paid for it. I was like,
- 5:09Speaker 1: I'm barely getting paid for this. What are you talking?
- 5:11Speaker 1: Any name names? I mean, I don't want to blow
- 5:16Speaker 1: anybody's spot up, but come on, give us one. I
- 5:19Speaker 1: think that you would say, Well, Vicky Gumbilson asked for money.
- 5:23Speaker 1: Of course she did, of course she did. She used
- 5:26Speaker 1: to ask for money to go and watch what happens Lives.
- 5:28Speaker 1: They're like no, no, She's like, I'm not going anymore,
- 5:32Speaker 1: and then she goes the next time. Yeah, of course,
- 5:34Speaker 1: so she definitely wanted some coins. Okay, So the book
- 5:37Speaker 1: your idea or was it Bravo's idea and they came
- 5:40Speaker 1: to you or you went to them? How did that
- 5:42Speaker 1: work out? It was kind of a mutual discussion. They
- 5:44Speaker 1: asked me, like, if you wanted to write a book
- 5:46Speaker 1: about the house, it's what would you want it to
- 5:47Speaker 1: look like? And then I submitted a proposal about how
- 5:51Speaker 1: it would be, kind of outlining the idea of doing
- 5:53Speaker 1: in oral history and what that would look like. So
- 5:57Speaker 1: I like the way it's written because I'm not very
- 6:00Speaker 1: good about reading and get distructed, but this is very
- 6:04Speaker 1: It's an easy read. Yeah, that was the idea. And listen,
- 6:07Speaker 1: I don't want to be the one to say I
- 6:10Speaker 1: always say this is a book of It's a book
- 6:14Speaker 1: of opinions, of feelings, not a book of facts. So
- 6:19Speaker 1: it's like, everybody has their own opinions about it's not
- 6:22Speaker 1: a book of facts. It's not are you kidding me?
- 6:26Speaker 1: Everybody has their own opinion of how everything kind of happens. Well,
- 6:30Speaker 1: I want to talk about somebody's opinion and okay, sh
- 6:35Speaker 1: she pulls out the Obviously, this is like a reunion
- 6:40Speaker 1: day Okay, okay, So Kathleen French who worked for Evolution
- 6:46Speaker 1: if originally I don't know if you ever met her, Teddy,
- 6:48Speaker 1: she might have moved onto Bravo, but I met her
- 6:50Speaker 1: at Bravo. Yes, yes, okay, So she said tamer was
- 6:53Speaker 1: this girl from Glendora, California, with a working class roots.
- 6:57Speaker 1: Her mother was divorced. They didn't have a lot of
- 6:59Speaker 1: money in the house. This is a crocus ship. First
- 7:04Speaker 1: of all, my parents got divorced when I was twenty
- 7:06Speaker 1: seven years old. My dad had his own business, made
- 7:11Speaker 1: about two one or fifty thousand a year. We weren't
- 7:13Speaker 1: broke by any means. I was actually good money back then.
- 7:16Speaker 1: He was working classy under repair shop, used car sales
- 7:20Speaker 1: a lot, all that. But my mom didn't raise me.
- 7:23Speaker 1: Oh there you go. My parents were married until I
- 7:26Speaker 1: was twenty seven, so I don't know where she got
- 7:28Speaker 1: that information. I think that people's memories sometimes when they
- 7:33Speaker 1: tried to look back on things, could be a little fuzzy.
- 7:36Speaker 1: Did anybody try to rewrite what you know wasn't true?
- 7:39Speaker 1: Like you're like, I know what happened that didn't happen? Well, yeah,
- 7:43Speaker 1: I mean there were certain things that like I would
- 7:45Speaker 1: have to correct people on as they would tell me
- 7:48Speaker 1: their stories again and I would be like, but I
- 7:50Speaker 1: saw this on this show, like you ever caught this?
- 7:53Speaker 1: And they would say, well, oh, well did that happen first?
- 7:56Speaker 1: And so I caught some people in the process. But
- 7:59Speaker 1: I tried not to fact check everyone, right. I wanted
- 8:01Speaker 1: this to be a space for everybody. Just like if
- 8:04Speaker 1: I was to come back at you and take your
- 8:06Speaker 1: words out and remove things that you had said, yeah,
- 8:10Speaker 1: I wouldn't want to do that to someone else. I
- 8:12Speaker 1: was trying to hold the integrity of everything everyone was
- 8:14Speaker 1: staying as honestly as I could. Did your perspective change
- 8:26Speaker 1: on any Housewives after you wrote, like after you got
- 8:30Speaker 1: their interviews? Oh, that's so interesting, you know. I think
- 8:34Speaker 1: that everybody is really who they are pretty much down
- 8:38Speaker 1: to the core, and the people that we see on
- 8:40Speaker 1: TV are exactly who they are in front of the
- 8:42Speaker 1: camera as well. So if you were somebody who is
- 8:45Speaker 1: a little bit more guarded of a human on TV,
- 8:48Speaker 1: if you feel like when you're watching them that they're
- 8:50Speaker 1: putting out an act and they're trying to control a narrative,
- 8:53Speaker 1: that's exactly how they were in the interview as well,
- 8:55Speaker 1: so that didn't really shift that much. What I found
- 8:58Speaker 1: most interesting was talking to those produced hers and their
- 9:01Speaker 1: perspectives on people because it verified a lot of the
- 9:04Speaker 1: things that I felt as a viewer. And I mean, Teddy,
- 9:07Speaker 1: no one kind of encompasses that more than you. I
- 9:10Speaker 1: think that I was always such a fan of you
- 9:12Speaker 1: because as a viewer, I saw that you moved the
- 9:14Speaker 1: storyline along every season that you were on. You know,
- 9:19Speaker 1: there wasn't really conflict if it wasn't for the things
- 9:21Speaker 1: that you were doing. And I know, and we get,
- 9:25Speaker 1: both of us get shipped for that constantly, like yeah,
- 9:28Speaker 1: because people people don't really get that you have to
- 9:30Speaker 1: move story So, like example, what happened this year on
- 9:34Speaker 1: Housewives that felt on Beverly Hills that fell into their
- 9:37Speaker 1: lap and became a drama for them. We didn't have
- 9:41Speaker 1: that right. So we're like, they're looking to you to
- 9:45Speaker 1: be like, Okay, what's next? And so you have to
- 9:48Speaker 1: like live bigger than you may necessarily want to be.
- 9:52Speaker 1: You know, you have to make a show. But if
- 9:54Speaker 1: you remember, and somebody d mned me this, which was
- 9:58Speaker 1: a nice reminder because I had forgotten because I got
- 10:00Speaker 1: so much hate for so long. They said, listen, you
- 10:03Speaker 1: have to remember at the beginning, people loved you because
- 10:05Speaker 1: you're a fresh and opinionated But after you've gotten the
- 10:08Speaker 1: whole trouble with the dog thing and everything, then all
- 10:10Speaker 1: of a sudden, that's when you became boring. And it
- 10:13Speaker 1: was because that was an easy thing to say. That
- 10:16Speaker 1: hurts people's feelings, and people just shift. And you know,
- 10:21Speaker 1: if somebody has a strong fan base, they're gonna come
- 10:24Speaker 1: hard and they're gonna say the same thing over and
- 10:26Speaker 1: over again, just like in the show, to create a
- 10:28Speaker 1: storyline about somebody, right, And you're only as good as
- 10:31Speaker 1: this week's episode. So people love you one week and
- 10:33Speaker 1: they hate you the next. It's true and there's no winning.
- 10:36Speaker 1: I I joked, you know, watching this season of Beverly
- 10:40Speaker 1: Hills that there was fans saying, you know, it's bullshit
- 10:43Speaker 1: that Lisa Renna isn't talking about the fact that her
- 10:46Speaker 1: daughter is dating Scott Disick, she's hiding the truth. And
- 10:49Speaker 1: then the next episode she talked about it, and it
- 10:51Speaker 1: was the same person I saw on Twitter saying Lisa
- 10:55Speaker 1: Renna is using the fact that her daughter is dating
- 10:57Speaker 1: Scott Discac for line it's like, that's why you can't
- 11:01Speaker 1: take these serious, Like Teddy was saying, like she blocks
- 11:05Speaker 1: a lot of people right right to the point where
- 11:07Speaker 1: I don't even give a crap, like there's something wrong
- 11:09Speaker 1: with you if you're sending me these messages as long
- 11:12Speaker 1: as I'm talking about my kids. It makes me feel
- 11:14Speaker 1: really good to block somebody that repeatedly drives me nut,
- 11:17Speaker 1: like I'm like a go away because I've had to,
- 11:20Speaker 1: like because so much my business is online that I'm
- 11:23Speaker 1: like now blocked by Yeah, I know, but you should
- 11:26Speaker 1: restrict them instead of block them, because that way you
- 11:28Speaker 1: never know when they're gonna flop back and be like,
- 11:30Speaker 1: oh my god, I love Teddy. True, but makes me
- 11:33Speaker 1: feel better just to cut them out of my laugh completely.
- 11:36Speaker 1: They just they just get a fake account. But Teddy,
- 11:39Speaker 1: it was interesting because talking to producers, they were all
- 11:42Speaker 1: saying the exact same things again that I had felt
- 11:44Speaker 1: about you, And there was a lot of feelings there
- 11:47Speaker 1: again in that process of saying like, oh my goodness,
- 11:50Speaker 1: this is exactly like they were saying, how how what
- 11:54Speaker 1: what an integral player you were for those seasons and
- 11:57Speaker 1: how much they loved you, And it made me feel
- 11:59Speaker 1: a getting very valid in my feelings as a as
- 12:02Speaker 1: a viewer that I think is often missed in the
- 12:04Speaker 1: grand scheme with your back, I'm okay this way, but like,
- 12:09Speaker 1: I think that the part I loved reading what Chris
- 12:12Speaker 1: Colin had to say and Alex Baskin and our our producers,
- 12:15Speaker 1: because the truth is, you know, you can love me
- 12:18Speaker 1: or you can hate me. But what I was saying
- 12:21Speaker 1: was actually what was happening. So who were the producers
- 12:24Speaker 1: most shady too? You know, like, oh yeah, I called
- 12:29Speaker 1: them out and straightened out the world. I think that.
- 12:34Speaker 1: I mean, I'm obviously just thinking about your seasons. Producers
- 12:38Speaker 1: were very honest. No, but I think the producers were
- 12:41Speaker 1: very honest about about Gretchen. Yeah, I think the producers
- 12:46Speaker 1: were very honest about Lisa. I think that, you know,
- 12:49Speaker 1: both of them didn't participate in the book, right, Lisa
- 12:52Speaker 1: Vanderpunk did but only very quickly. She didn't, only to
- 12:55Speaker 1: promote herself. And how great is she asked? She asking
- 13:00Speaker 1: for royalties because of the name of the book. I'm
- 13:02Speaker 1: sure she is somewhere, but she actually didn't. You haven't
- 13:05Speaker 1: gotten the legal letters. I haven't gotten the legal atter.
- 13:07Speaker 1: She didn't we had to get of course, that approved.
- 13:10Speaker 1: And she didn't write that line. That was written by
- 13:12Speaker 1: Alex Baskin. Actually, yeah, lots of the taglines are and
- 13:16Speaker 1: by so Alex Baskin gave us the approval to do that.
- 13:20Speaker 1: So I don't think she has much of a legal
- 13:22Speaker 1: ground to stand under surprise to come after us. So
- 13:26Speaker 1: who refused to do it? Of all the housewives, well,
- 13:29Speaker 1: there were just a lot of women that didn't want
- 13:31Speaker 1: to participate for one way or the other. You know. Uh,
- 13:34Speaker 1: Bethany and Nini had their own experiences that they weren't
- 13:37Speaker 1: interested in rehashing. I was I'm gonna say it's about
- 13:41Speaker 1: Bethany really quick now, she tweeted, and I'm from my memory,
- 13:46Speaker 1: I'm trying to something about way to put women down,
- 13:51Speaker 1: probably like this is the book about putting women down
- 13:53Speaker 1: or something. I'm like, wait, didn't you build your whole
- 13:55Speaker 1: career Real Housewives of New York putting women down? I mean, yeah,
- 14:02Speaker 1: I certainly think a lot of people feel the same
- 14:04Speaker 1: way that you do about that. I think that Bethany
- 14:06Speaker 1: certainly had a view towards this that she's trying to
- 14:08Speaker 1: kind of move on from that. And I understand that
- 14:12Speaker 1: I would have loved to have everybody participate, and you
- 14:15Speaker 1: were both on the other side of my interviews. My
- 14:17Speaker 1: questions weren't about putting people down. I'm not interested that
- 14:20Speaker 1: there were plenty of people who chose not to put
- 14:23Speaker 1: anybody down, just as the nature of who I think.
- 14:28Speaker 1: You know, people wanting to speak their truth. And I'm
- 14:30Speaker 1: sure that you know, we all know what Bethany thinks,
- 14:34Speaker 1: we all know what Nanny things. So even though they
- 14:36Speaker 1: weren't participating, I don't feel like we lose anything. Everyone
- 14:40Speaker 1: is in the book, whether you talk to me or not.
- 14:45Speaker 1: Is there anybody that Brobo said, don't talk to this housewife,
- 14:48Speaker 1: we don't want her contracted? No, they were. They weren't
- 14:53Speaker 1: at all restrictive of anyone that I spoke to. There
- 14:57Speaker 1: were certain people I was going after that they were like,
- 14:59Speaker 1: you know, it's okay. You know, like if we don't
- 15:01Speaker 1: get them, it's not going to be the end of
- 15:03Speaker 1: the world. I was very upset about not getting and
- 15:06Speaker 1: I've said this before, but I was very upset about
- 15:09Speaker 1: um not getting Alex McCord and Simon Van Campen from
- 15:13Speaker 1: the real Houses in New York City. Those the first
- 15:15Speaker 1: couple of seasons we were on. I just thought that
- 15:17Speaker 1: they would be so interesting. Well, alex Is like moved,
- 15:21Speaker 1: They've moved to Australia, and I think they do. I
- 15:26Speaker 1: think they're just like really gone from this whole world
- 15:29Speaker 1: and they don't really want to go back. But I
- 15:31Speaker 1: was super interested in what they had to say. But
- 15:33Speaker 1: you know, at a certain point, there were so many
- 15:35Speaker 1: voices that you just have to kind of keep moving forward.
- 15:39Speaker 1: Is there anyone that you talked to that you thought like,
- 15:41Speaker 1: this person is not being authentic, this person is not
- 15:45Speaker 1: this person is kind of lying to me, or that
- 15:47Speaker 1: I don't trust this person. Yeah, I mean certainly I
- 15:50Speaker 1: had my own doubts. Uh. I find it very hard
- 15:54Speaker 1: when people say like I don't want to go back
- 15:56Speaker 1: and I don't want to look at all this stuff
- 15:58Speaker 1: and I want to move forward. I kind kind of
- 16:00Speaker 1: there's part of me that's like, I understand that that's
- 16:02Speaker 1: like the higher ground to play, But you're a human.
- 16:05Speaker 1: You must have real feelings about these things, and I
- 16:07Speaker 1: want to hear what you have to say, so that
- 16:10Speaker 1: for me always feels a little bit phony. You know,
- 16:14Speaker 1: did you have any juicy gossip about a certain housewife
- 16:18Speaker 1: that she just wouldn't talk about it. Yeah, you, I
- 16:23Speaker 1: stepped you. There was so much. There was stuff that
- 16:27Speaker 1: you had told me off the record that I was
- 16:29Speaker 1: trying to get you to tell me on the record,
- 16:31Speaker 1: stuff that I actually was physically present for and witnessed
- 16:35Speaker 1: with my own two eyes. So I couldn't get you
- 16:37Speaker 1: to talk talking about provo con. I'm talking about provo
- 16:41Speaker 1: con and I could not get you to go on
- 16:43Speaker 1: the record about it. Now you better believe she's going
- 16:50Speaker 1: to talk about it. But Ted, you have to remember that,
- 16:52Speaker 1: and Tamer doesn't remember this. When I was doing the
- 16:55Speaker 1: interviews for the book, she had recently been fired from
- 16:59Speaker 1: the Housewives, and you were pissed. You were like, you
- 17:04Speaker 1: called me up and you were like, Bravo, I'm not
- 17:06Speaker 1: doing this book. Shit, I'm not talking to anybody. I'm
- 17:10Speaker 1: never doing anything problem again, right, And I'm like, okay,
- 17:12Speaker 1: what do you want to know? I felt like it
- 17:16Speaker 1: took me kind of weeks to get you to I
- 17:18Speaker 1: was going through my bitter stage. Okay, it's fine, I understand,
- 17:22Speaker 1: first upset and I was crying, and then I was
- 17:24Speaker 1: I went through all the stages. Now I'm fine, of course,
- 17:27Speaker 1: but I wasn't going to get you. You know, I
- 17:29Speaker 1: didn't want to push you too hard because I didn't
- 17:31Speaker 1: want to lose yet. Yeah, that was the difference there.
- 17:35Speaker 1: Next time, just get me drunk anything. Well, Brandy Glanville
- 17:39Speaker 1: got drunk throughout the entire interview. She and there was
- 17:42Speaker 1: a certain point of like where I was like, Brandy,
- 17:47Speaker 1: I gotta stop talking to you because I think I
- 17:49Speaker 1: think you're a little loaded and it doesn't feel ethical anymore.
- 17:52Speaker 1: I haven't read the Beverly Hills section. What did she
- 17:55Speaker 1: have to say about the Denise Richard's situation? Is it
- 18:00Speaker 1: in a book? Yeah? Can you give us like a
- 18:02Speaker 1: little tease? I mean, she again stands by her experience.
- 18:08Speaker 1: And you know, everybody felt like the whole thing was
- 18:10Speaker 1: a total set up them going into that filming where
- 18:15Speaker 1: you were packing, Teddy, you were there, of course that
- 18:18Speaker 1: they feel a lot of people feel like that Kyle
- 18:21Speaker 1: and Teddy knew about this and that was all phony.
- 18:23Speaker 1: But according to everybody there that that was very real,
- 18:28Speaker 1: that none of you knew what was happening. If I
- 18:30Speaker 1: was going to know that that was the scene that
- 18:33Speaker 1: was going to change the entire season, I maybe would
- 18:36Speaker 1: have put makeup on would have made an effort. Normally,
- 18:40Speaker 1: packing scenes are never used, like one second of you
- 18:44Speaker 1: like pushing on your suitcase, like and so they're like, Teddy,
- 18:47Speaker 1: you have to go to Kyle's right now for packing.
- 18:50Speaker 1: I'm like, no, we leaved a lot. I'm not doing
- 18:52Speaker 1: that one. I'm tired. Anyone's pregnant. And they're like, we
- 18:57Speaker 1: we didn't get you packing. I'm like, and then went
- 19:02Speaker 1: over there bomb and then I knew. Once I was told,
- 19:05Speaker 1: I was like, well, I wonder who's going to be
- 19:06Speaker 1: the one to share it with everybody else? Yeah. The
- 19:11Speaker 1: way that I heard the story essentially go down was
- 19:14Speaker 1: that there were rumblings of this at Bravo Con. There
- 19:17Speaker 1: were rumblings of things that had happened at Bravocon, but
- 19:19Speaker 1: no one had said anything. And then a few Orange
- 19:23Speaker 1: County ladies let Chris Cullen know about their experience, and
- 19:27Speaker 1: then Chris Cullin flew from Bravo Con to Rome to start,
- 19:33Speaker 1: you know, the pre production process. On the trip, you
- 19:35Speaker 1: all flew from Bravocon back to New York and when
- 19:38Speaker 1: he was sorry, back to Beverly Hills, right, and when
- 19:41Speaker 1: he was in Rome, he got a phone call from
- 19:44Speaker 1: Kim saying I have this thing that Brandy wants to say,
- 19:47Speaker 1: and he said, oh my god, I just got hills.
- 19:49Speaker 1: She said, all right, well, and it was only because
- 19:51Speaker 1: that he had heard what had happened on Bravo con
- 19:53Speaker 1: that it had all made sense to him and said, okay, well,
- 19:56Speaker 1: there's a there's a packing scene going on tomorrow if
- 20:00Speaker 1: you want to stop by. Let me ask you both
- 20:11Speaker 1: because it's so interesting. You have a lot in common
- 20:14Speaker 1: in your experience on Housewives because both of you were, uh,
- 20:18Speaker 1: we're cast members that the producers I think, really leaned
- 20:21Speaker 1: on to expose things that were happening that were that
- 20:24Speaker 1: others were not courageous enough to do so. At that
- 20:27Speaker 1: dinner in Rome, Teddy, I mean it's in the book.
- 20:30Speaker 1: I know. We talked about it, like everybody was asked
- 20:33Speaker 1: to bring that up. Everybody was getting text messages under
- 20:36Speaker 1: the table. You were the one who answered it. Um.
- 20:39Speaker 1: I mean, in my the way that I am, truthfully,
- 20:42Speaker 1: the way I think that I had two options. I
- 20:46Speaker 1: could sit there and listen to us, waste our time
- 20:50Speaker 1: having the most stupid conversation that nobody was ever going
- 20:53Speaker 1: to use for anything, piss off all the production team
- 20:57Speaker 1: waste rome and then blindside Denise by her seeing the
- 21:01Speaker 1: conversation after the fact, or I could just get to
- 21:04Speaker 1: the point and handle it. And I was like, I'm
- 21:07Speaker 1: the only one here that can't drink, I'm pregnant, I'm
- 21:10Speaker 1: so tired, I'm jet lagged. Let's get this show on
- 21:13Speaker 1: the road. Like that's really how I looked at it,
- 21:16Speaker 1: and somebody had already and she was already so open.
- 21:20Speaker 1: And then when people came at me and said you
- 21:21Speaker 1: outed her, you did that, I was so confused because
- 21:24Speaker 1: I'm like, what are you talking about. She's already been
- 21:26Speaker 1: on Howard Stern sharing her experience with another woman. She's
- 21:30Speaker 1: blatantly sharing these experiences. Yeah, I for a few years.
- 21:35Speaker 1: I'm like, you know what, I'm not your puppet anymore.
- 21:37Speaker 1: Like I would be the one where I was at
- 21:39Speaker 1: a group party and they'd be like and then the
- 21:43Speaker 1: rest of the cast starts to resent you because they
- 21:45Speaker 1: know what's going on. They're like, oh, there, she got
- 21:47Speaker 1: us there having her us something or and you know,
- 21:50Speaker 1: they don't tell you what to say, but they'll be like, hey,
- 21:52Speaker 1: let's get this rolling, Like you know, why don't talk
- 21:55Speaker 1: about what happened. You know, Yeah, let's talk about having
- 21:59Speaker 1: a bass like and they'll they'll be like, you know,
- 22:02Speaker 1: I'll be like, Okay, I will because I'm just I'm
- 22:05Speaker 1: like a team player. Well, also, i'd rather say somebody's
- 22:08Speaker 1: face them behind their back. Yeah, so a conversation has
- 22:11Speaker 1: already had on camera. Of course I'm gonna say it
- 22:13Speaker 1: to somebody's face rather than talk about it with every
- 22:15Speaker 1: one of the other women, have them suffer and by
- 22:18Speaker 1: me doing terrible confessionals. And also you assume you like
- 22:23Speaker 1: I didn't. I assumed my last season on Housewives it
- 22:27Speaker 1: wasn't gonna be I wasn't gonna be so cut out
- 22:29Speaker 1: of it. You barely knew I was pregnant, Like I didn't.
- 22:34Speaker 1: I thought there would be other things to show of me,
- 22:38Speaker 1: that it wasn't just me coming for Denise. But what
- 22:41Speaker 1: ends up happening is you build those relationships. You think
- 22:44Speaker 1: that you're filming so much that you think, Wow, they're
- 22:46Speaker 1: going to show all these different aspects of my life,
- 22:48Speaker 1: and then they just show one, and of course the
- 22:50Speaker 1: audience isn't gonna relate to it. Wow, you're just a
- 22:53Speaker 1: ship ster. They're not doing that. You're a mom, you're
- 22:55Speaker 1: a business person. Now, that's what they do. And I
- 22:57Speaker 1: had that issue for many years because I didn't have
- 23:00Speaker 1: my kids in the show, so they never really saw
- 23:02Speaker 1: me as a mom. They just saw like the strongest
- 23:05Speaker 1: part of my personality on the show, and that was
- 23:07Speaker 1: stirring the ship. And I was good at it. So
- 23:10Speaker 1: you know, I got labeled the ship stir and I'm like,
- 23:12Speaker 1: whatever cut me employed for twelve years. I mean, listen,
- 23:19Speaker 1: I think that's why we called the book not all
- 23:20Speaker 1: diamonds and or a Truthfully, we wanted it to be
- 23:23Speaker 1: something that, you know, called back to the show. But
- 23:25Speaker 1: it's also it's not easy to be a housewife, Like
- 23:27Speaker 1: there are a lot of negative things that you have
- 23:30Speaker 1: to deal with on a daily basis that I think
- 23:32Speaker 1: that a lot of people don't really understand. So do
- 23:35Speaker 1: you have any other books in the works? Not yet,
- 23:39Speaker 1: but I mean I'm ready to continue down this path.
- 23:41Speaker 1: I I said that Below Deck, another popular franchise on Bravo,
- 23:45Speaker 1: is kind of perfect for this, so I would love
- 23:47Speaker 1: to jump in it. But I could also write a
- 23:49Speaker 1: sequel because there was so much in the book that
- 23:52Speaker 1: we couldn't keep in the book because it was just
- 23:54Speaker 1: too big, so I could write a whole another books.
- 23:57Speaker 1: Was there anything really juicy that they cut out that
- 24:00Speaker 1: You're like, why would they cut that out? Well? I
- 24:02Speaker 1: was surprised, you know, as a fan that there were
- 24:06Speaker 1: so many women who would film sometimes as test housewives,
- 24:11Speaker 1: possible housewives who wouldn't become housewives, who were then just removed.
- 24:14Speaker 1: There were two of them in Orange County. That really
- 24:17Speaker 1: shocked me that You're like, she was just around season ten.
- 24:21Speaker 1: There was one right Tamara um uh, Katie I believe
- 24:25Speaker 1: in human Katie Danielle, Yeah, yeah, who just filmed. They
- 24:29Speaker 1: filmed all season and we have a lot of those
- 24:32Speaker 1: stories on the record, but there was just no room
- 24:34Speaker 1: to kind of fit them in. And that really surprised
- 24:37Speaker 1: me as a fan. You know, it's like to think
- 24:39Speaker 1: that there was someone else in all those you know,
- 24:42Speaker 1: trips and and all those moments, and it was at
- 24:44Speaker 1: the same time filming confessionals and behind the scenes and
- 24:47Speaker 1: with her family and you just didn't see any of
- 24:49Speaker 1: that really shocks me. I'm kind of shocked that they
- 24:52Speaker 1: decided to do the book. Now, I would think that
- 24:54Speaker 1: this is something you would do, like when it's coming
- 24:57Speaker 1: to an end, don't know if it's coming to an
- 25:01Speaker 1: end or it's slow me down? What do you think?
- 25:04Speaker 1: I don't think it's coming to an end, but I
- 25:05Speaker 1: think there's a new chapter for sure. Starter you think
- 25:08Speaker 1: these crossover shows that you know you're a part of
- 25:11Speaker 1: one of them, and I think just new franchises coming.
- 25:14Speaker 1: I think it's kind of like turning a bit of
- 25:16Speaker 1: a page. Not to be too cheesy and puny about it,
- 25:20Speaker 1: but in the chapter of Housewives, I think it's like
- 25:23Speaker 1: the old days of the show feeling the way it
- 25:26Speaker 1: felt is kind of over, and it's it's the right time,
- 25:30Speaker 1: I think, to get people excited about what might be
- 25:34Speaker 1: coming next. Yeah, I mean there's new stuff. There were
- 25:37Speaker 1: just two new Housewives announced in Beverly Hills. Did you
- 25:40Speaker 1: see that, Teddy? I did. Do you know Diana Jenkins?
- 25:44Speaker 1: I do. I met her this year, So any t
- 25:49Speaker 1: that you can give us, like what would she be like?
- 25:51Speaker 1: I really like her. I thought, like immediately, I think
- 25:55Speaker 1: that especially coming into the setting, I I you, especially
- 26:02Speaker 1: meeting new people, you don't really know how to be.
- 26:04Speaker 1: She was immediately like chatty and easy going and like
- 26:09Speaker 1: showed herself. I think that you know she's going to have.
- 26:13Speaker 1: She's very opinionated, which is good. But she's funny and
- 26:16Speaker 1: she's beautiful, and she's got a true story, and you know,
- 26:19Speaker 1: so I think I think she'll be good. Teddy. Are
- 26:31Speaker 1: you filming this season? I am not, but I did
- 26:37Speaker 1: make a true I did something for extra and while
- 26:41Speaker 1: I was doing that, I may or may not be right.
- 26:46Speaker 1: I have to say. It's so interesting because you both
- 26:49Speaker 1: joined your respective franchises at very different times in the
- 26:53Speaker 1: history of them. Timber was just in the third season
- 26:55Speaker 1: at that point. I mean, she's a very revolutionary housewife, Teddy,
- 26:59Speaker 1: because she is the first housewife ever to express opinion
- 27:02Speaker 1: about another housewife. Up until that point, for two years,
- 27:06Speaker 1: nobody had said anything negative about the other. But she
- 27:09Speaker 1: was the first. Really. It was like I swear, they
- 27:13Speaker 1: had just been filming them almost like separately and then
- 27:16Speaker 1: occasional group scene, but it wasn't even like what it
- 27:19Speaker 1: is now, where it's group scenes and parties and all
- 27:21Speaker 1: that stuff. Um. But Camera was the first one who
- 27:24Speaker 1: joined and was like, you know, Gina ki ug I
- 27:27Speaker 1: could I could sell her under the table or whatever. Um.
- 27:31Speaker 1: And that changed the direction of the show. Teddy, when
- 27:35Speaker 1: you came into the franchise, Like now this show is
- 27:38Speaker 1: like a well oiled machine, and I think it's much
- 27:40Speaker 1: harder to kind of come in around the time when
- 27:43Speaker 1: you didn't now, uh, to get your footing with it,
- 27:46Speaker 1: and then what happens is it takes years for you
- 27:48Speaker 1: to actually build these real friendships like you have with everybody,
- 27:52Speaker 1: and then now you're on the show. Yeah. I think
- 27:54Speaker 1: what people don't remember about my first season. It's like
- 27:58Speaker 1: I came in what was like already five years old, uh,
- 28:02Speaker 1: didn't know any of them, and I'm sitting in Vegas
- 28:05Speaker 1: my first first time meeting everybody, and like they are
- 28:10Speaker 1: they are not having it, and I was like, this
- 28:13Speaker 1: is hard, you know, like this is so much harder
- 28:16Speaker 1: than I expect. I'm in my like, you know, pretty much,
- 28:19Speaker 1: I look like I'm a Tanya Harding's outfit, like my
- 28:23Speaker 1: still outfit, and they're all dressed there. I didn't get.
- 28:28Speaker 1: I glad myself. It's like a whole situation like I
- 28:31Speaker 1: just didn't know. You don't know until you know, and
- 28:35Speaker 1: then once you do know, you're like, wow, I really
- 28:37Speaker 1: I wish I never knew because this makes it so
- 28:39Speaker 1: much easier before. But I think you know, ultimately the
- 28:42Speaker 1: fact that I can have good friends with some of
- 28:43Speaker 1: the women shows that you can live at peace with
- 28:48Speaker 1: that you can go you know what. I may have
- 28:49Speaker 1: caused a lot of ship on the show. I may
- 28:51Speaker 1: have started a lot of drama, but ultimately the people
- 28:55Speaker 1: that I created relationships with their real and that shows
- 28:58Speaker 1: you know, long term, yeah, not so much. On my franchise,
- 29:02Speaker 1: we're gone nually, they don't talk to you anymore. I
- 29:05Speaker 1: know your your friend Trees became like Survivor. Uh we
- 29:09Speaker 1: talked about that before, Like on the podcast. It's like,
- 29:13Speaker 1: we're definitely like Survivor. Like people just want to bring
- 29:17Speaker 1: you down and take a business down and your family down.
- 29:20Speaker 1: And we're Beverly Hills like everybody's you know, they have conflict,
- 29:24Speaker 1: but they stand together like they're they're like true friends.
- 29:29Speaker 1: And again, it takes years to do that. In New Jersey,
- 29:32Speaker 1: Jackie Goldscheiner and Jennifer Aiden came in four seasons ago
- 29:36Speaker 1: now and they've built real friendships with these women and
- 29:40Speaker 1: now it's like now it's at a point where there's
- 29:42Speaker 1: long term. You know, they've known each other for four
- 29:44Speaker 1: or five years. They really have deep roots in some
- 29:48Speaker 1: of their arguments and they it is richer. So yes, absolutely,
- 29:52Speaker 1: And I think that's the problem with Orange County right now,
- 29:56Speaker 1: there's no real true friends since there's no I don't know, yeah,
- 30:00Speaker 1: well I do think it's the problem with the franchises
- 30:02Speaker 1: that they go down the years. It's difficult to maintain
- 30:06Speaker 1: that sort of thing, which is why the criticism towards
- 30:09Speaker 1: Beverly Hills always. I find very funny that people are like,
- 30:13Speaker 1: well there's a click or you know, Lisa of course
- 30:17Speaker 1: got tons of criticism and about standing by Erica, and
- 30:20Speaker 1: it's like, you want these people, these are real friendships,
- 30:23Speaker 1: Like it's so much more interesting if if they were
- 30:27Speaker 1: just co stars, none of it would matter. Well yeah,
- 30:30Speaker 1: I mean when even when it came to Lisa Wrenna
- 30:32Speaker 1: and everybody would say, well why are you standing? You know,
- 30:34Speaker 1: you didn't stand by Denise or you didn't stand by
- 30:36Speaker 1: so and so, but you're standing by Erica. I just
- 30:39Speaker 1: wanted to be like, well, yeah, she's my best friend.
- 30:41Speaker 1: You know, she's so I'm closest to what do you
- 30:43Speaker 1: think I'm gonna do? That's reality? Like, well, then there's
- 30:47Speaker 1: Lisa in Salt Lake City who's not was not standing
- 30:50Speaker 1: by jen Shaw, who she was friends with, and was
- 30:52Speaker 1: kind of like, I don't think I want anything to
- 30:55Speaker 1: do with us, But then when she saw her in person,
- 30:58Speaker 1: it was she didn't really say that, but her first
- 31:00Speaker 1: instinct was like, I don't want to get involved, and
- 31:03Speaker 1: that was her friend. So it's like, well, I would
- 31:07Speaker 1: probably if I s friend to somebody, be there for
- 31:09Speaker 1: them myself, right. I think you have to be there
- 31:13Speaker 1: for somebody until they're guilty they're guilty, or even figuring
- 31:19Speaker 1: out those steps like being a person that they can
- 31:21Speaker 1: actually communicate with during their hard times because it's not
- 31:24Speaker 1: always going to be good. Yeah, And again, it's so
- 31:26Speaker 1: black and white in everybody's eyes when they're at home.
- 31:29Speaker 1: But it's like if you've been criticizing somebody for five years,
- 31:32Speaker 1: six years, however, in the years now for repeating the
- 31:34Speaker 1: same behavior, and then that person changes and literally does
- 31:38Speaker 1: what you've been asking them to do, which is like
- 31:40Speaker 1: grow and change, and then you're still criticizing them for
- 31:43Speaker 1: that being the way they were. Ye, there's no winning
- 31:48Speaker 1: for anybody. Do you have a favorite franchise? I love
- 31:52Speaker 1: them all, really, Potomac has become one that I that
- 31:56Speaker 1: I kind of really enjoy it because I've never watched
- 31:59Speaker 1: not one Soda Potomac. You have to. It's crazy, it's
- 32:02Speaker 1: so good. I hear so many great things. I'm don't
- 32:04Speaker 1: well now that I have profit again, yes, I'm gonna
- 32:07Speaker 1: have to watch and timer they've had four cast members
- 32:11Speaker 1: now that they just wrapped season six, and they've had
- 32:13Speaker 1: four O g s who have remained on the show
- 32:16Speaker 1: in all six seasons, which is kind of a bit
- 32:18Speaker 1: of a record. So it's like, it's interesting to see
- 32:21Speaker 1: that core for still remain. Um, it's just very good.
- 32:25Speaker 1: It's I enjoyed that. I also, I'm a New Yorker.
- 32:28Speaker 1: I love New York. I love New Jersey because of
- 32:31Speaker 1: the fact that I'm Italian too, So I don't know,
- 32:33Speaker 1: it's very hard to pick a favorite. But so I
- 32:36Speaker 1: know we're running out of time, but I do a
- 32:39Speaker 1: little thing on my Instagram where I asked them to
- 32:42Speaker 1: ask questions for whoever is coming on and a common
- 32:45Speaker 1: question that I got which I really can't remember. So
- 32:48Speaker 1: I'm gonna have to ask you. While you were doing
- 32:50Speaker 1: the interviews for this book, did you ever say, well
- 32:55Speaker 1: so and so said blah blah blah. Did you use
- 32:58Speaker 1: any sort of to get more ormation or how did
- 33:01Speaker 1: you do it? No, So I tried to interview everybody
- 33:04Speaker 1: separately in your own little bubble because I didn't want
- 33:08Speaker 1: just like again, it's integrity is really important to me.
- 33:11Speaker 1: I didn't want to ever take anything you had said
- 33:13Speaker 1: an interview and bring it to someone else either, right.
- 33:16Speaker 1: I wanted everybody to be individual. So I would say
- 33:20Speaker 1: things sometimes like well, oftentimes like fans think this, or
- 33:26Speaker 1: people think this, and maybe that was repeating something another
- 33:29Speaker 1: woman had said, but I never said like well, I
- 33:32Speaker 1: talked to Renna and she told me this, and it's
- 33:35Speaker 1: just it didn't trying not to be outs in that way.
- 33:41Speaker 1: So I didn't do it that way. So who is
- 33:43Speaker 1: your favorite interview? I mean Carol Razwell and I to
- 33:53Speaker 1: Carol Razwel and I talked for twelve hours straight straight,
- 33:58Speaker 1: So that for me is it's always going to be
- 34:01Speaker 1: my favorite. She is a journalist and as well and
- 34:04Speaker 1: and has a lot of twelve hours experience. Yeah, she
- 34:07Speaker 1: just kind of had like a very interesting zoom out perspective.
- 34:10Speaker 1: She's actually the one who told me that a lot
- 34:13Speaker 1: of the arguments that you see on the show have
- 34:16Speaker 1: nothing to do with what they're arguing about and more
- 34:18Speaker 1: to do with the show in and of itself. That
- 34:21Speaker 1: that like framing of the show often encourages disagreement that
- 34:27Speaker 1: people can't actually say, which I thought was so interesting
- 34:30Speaker 1: and it's certain It's a slight red track red flag
- 34:33Speaker 1: to me that somebody could talk about themselves for twelve hours.
- 34:37Speaker 1: But she was journalist as well. Yeah, yeah, it was
- 34:41Speaker 1: more we were talking about the show and less about her,
- 34:44Speaker 1: but she was really interesting. I don't know that all
- 34:46Speaker 1: the interviews were super good, I can tell you. I mean,
- 34:49Speaker 1: I have still questions that I wish I would have
- 34:52Speaker 1: asked both of you. Okay, you have you have you
- 34:54Speaker 1: can ask? Is is each one question before we go?
- 34:57Speaker 1: It us your juiciest one star with Tam Okay, Uh gosh,
- 35:02Speaker 1: Tamera Okay. So, salary is always such an interesting thing,
- 35:06Speaker 1: and everybody talked very openly about how much they make,
- 35:09Speaker 1: how much they don't make, but there's always rumors about
- 35:12Speaker 1: how much people make. And knowing what your structure is,
- 35:15Speaker 1: knowing how much you made and you don't have to
- 35:17Speaker 1: give the number, what do you think about when you hear,
- 35:20Speaker 1: you know, these rumors about how much people make on
- 35:23Speaker 1: the Housewives shows. Do you buy into anything? No, I don't.
- 35:26Speaker 1: I mean certain times, I remember there's a time where
- 35:28Speaker 1: Vicky's like, can you believe so and so st arnin
- 35:31Speaker 1: he's making two million dollars a year and I'm like, yeah,
- 35:35Speaker 1: I don't know if that's true. And of course she
- 35:37Speaker 1: would send it right to Alex or Doug or somebody
- 35:39Speaker 1: out production and or Andy and like, why is she
- 35:42Speaker 1: making this much? I'm the o G. But I don't
- 35:44Speaker 1: really buy too much into it, Like forever they say
- 35:48Speaker 1: I make make six hundred dollars a year because when
- 35:51Speaker 1: I was going through a divorce twelve years ago, it
- 35:54Speaker 1: was in the court records, right. But we get raisons
- 35:57Speaker 1: every single year, so so yeah, and Robert does not
- 36:02Speaker 1: like us to talk about our contract or money or
- 36:05Speaker 1: anything like that. Yeah, But I mean you have to
- 36:07Speaker 1: laugh about the fact that when you see a report
- 36:09Speaker 1: and it's like Kathy Hilton is holding out for two
- 36:12Speaker 1: million dollars and now they've got her and she's making
- 36:14Speaker 1: two million. As a friend of that, you you have
- 36:16Speaker 1: to be sitting on the other end of this room.
- 36:19Speaker 1: I know that's not true. I've worked with them for
- 36:22Speaker 1: twelve years. A true who I don't care who you are.
- 36:25Speaker 1: Money wise, I can't tell you this. You make more.
- 36:28Speaker 1: You spend more of your first year on housewives than
- 36:31Speaker 1: you make. Yeah, and everybody told me the same thing,
- 36:36Speaker 1: especially if you were me, and especially it's funny with
- 36:41Speaker 1: glam squads and back then. To be honest, I wish
- 36:46Speaker 1: we never had glam squads because then every day because
- 36:50Speaker 1: like once it's like Beverly Hill started doing that and
- 36:53Speaker 1: it just became a constant. Then it's like, it's not
- 36:56Speaker 1: that you're trying to metamorphos yourself into other people, but
- 37:01Speaker 1: if you show up and you have not been glammed,
- 37:03Speaker 1: and everybody else's glad and in a costume, and you
- 37:06Speaker 1: show up and you're like, and you're messy, bun you
- 37:10Speaker 1: you're a spore thumb in the picture. Okay, you know
- 37:14Speaker 1: that more than anyone. Somebody was telling me the other day,
- 37:16Speaker 1: I wish they never did glam squads. Can't they have
- 37:19Speaker 1: one housewife strong enough to just show up as herself?
- 37:22Speaker 1: And I was like, yeah, they did. Her name is
- 37:23Speaker 1: Teddy Mellencapin. Everyone ragged on her at all. They're like,
- 37:28Speaker 1: get a silence. No one's ever happy. So I watched
- 37:35Speaker 1: Miami and everybody's going to a pool party and everybody's
- 37:38Speaker 1: getting their glam except for Gertie, And I mean she's
- 37:41Speaker 1: so beautiful anyway. So I'm like, a movie doesn't have
- 37:45Speaker 1: glamp Squad yet when it comes in the package. Um okay, So, Teddy,
- 37:50Speaker 1: you and I interviewed before while you were still a housewife,
- 37:54Speaker 1: before you learned of your exit, and I'm curious whether
- 38:01Speaker 1: you thought that was coming at all. Were you at
- 38:03Speaker 1: all surprised by it? I was completely surprised, to be honest,
- 38:07Speaker 1: because I had such a great relationship with production and
- 38:14Speaker 1: I had already had my meeting to come back, you know,
- 38:16Speaker 1: like all of these things, Like we had already talked
- 38:18Speaker 1: about what was going on in my life for the night,
- 38:20Speaker 1: Like I absolutely had no idea. I do know that
- 38:24Speaker 1: there was a new showrunner, so there was changes that
- 38:29Speaker 1: were being made, and that was kind of all I knew.
- 38:32Speaker 1: And then yeah, no, I mean when I when my friend,
- 38:36Speaker 1: when of my best he texted me and he's like, hey,
- 38:37Speaker 1: it's in daily mail that you got fired, I was like, well,
- 38:42Speaker 1: you found out on daily Mail. Yeah, So I mean
- 38:46Speaker 1: I think, do you did they telling you the producers
- 38:50Speaker 1: are Invidio, Bravo. What goes into deciding who's going to
- 38:54Speaker 1: be fired? Yeah, I mean my understanding is that production
- 38:59Speaker 1: often you know, advocates for who they want, but the
- 39:02Speaker 1: decision is always made by Bravo. Um and oftentimes in
- 39:06Speaker 1: both of your cases, in fact, producers very much disagree
- 39:10Speaker 1: with Bravo and those things and will fight back and say,
- 39:14Speaker 1: this is how necessary this person is to the show.
- 39:16Speaker 1: But Bravo makes the choices ultimately, and it seems to
- 39:20Speaker 1: be from from what they told me and uh and
- 39:23Speaker 1: we had that. I think in the book it seems
- 39:25Speaker 1: to be, you know, decisions that are made by like
- 39:28Speaker 1: three people at Bravo, and I think it's very subjective.
- 39:32Speaker 1: I understanding they do focus scripts to right so they
- 39:35Speaker 1: get feedback. I don't know how much of that they
- 39:37Speaker 1: take to heart, but yeah, I mean, look, data is data,
- 39:40Speaker 1: is what my understanding is, Like, you can interpret data
- 39:43Speaker 1: any way that you want to interpret data. So if
- 39:45Speaker 1: you're trying to look at something to you know, stand
- 39:49Speaker 1: by your decision, you're going to do that. But I
- 39:51Speaker 1: I talk to people throughout this and I would ask
- 39:54Speaker 1: about bringing people back or why did you fire this person?
- 39:57Speaker 1: And ultimately what I learned is at the it's very
- 40:01Speaker 1: subjective because they set rules. They'll say about one housewife, well,
- 40:05Speaker 1: she doesn't really have much more of a storyline, what
- 40:07Speaker 1: else is there to explore? And then I'm like, but
- 40:09Speaker 1: how about these five housewives who you've kept around, who
- 40:13Speaker 1: don't really have much of at That doesn't make any
- 40:15Speaker 1: sense to me. There's so many O g s on
- 40:17Speaker 1: the show that you know, they're just living their life,
- 40:20Speaker 1: and that's what I thought the show was about. But
- 40:22Speaker 1: if you're not, like, you know, getting divorced or robbing
- 40:26Speaker 1: a bank or you know whatever, you're not interested anymore. Again,
- 40:31Speaker 1: it's these are the sorts of things I'm saying. It's like,
- 40:34Speaker 1: you can't actually make a rule book towards it because
- 40:37Speaker 1: it is all totally subjective based on these three people.
- 40:41Speaker 1: From what I understand in their decision, I hear the
- 40:44Speaker 1: sirens in the background, and I missed New York. I'm
- 40:46Speaker 1: miss New York too. I can say one thing that
- 40:49Speaker 1: I did make a mistake on so right at the
- 40:52Speaker 1: end of my season, my last season, I was mad
- 40:56Speaker 1: because I was like, listen, you guys are using me
- 40:59Speaker 1: in negative like only and not showing any other part
- 41:01Speaker 1: of my life. I texted. The quote I text was,
- 41:04Speaker 1: I've trended on Twitter every single week from hate, and
- 41:09Speaker 1: you guys are giving me anything else but the negative.
- 41:13Speaker 1: Please like, I'm doing the work, I'm showing up. I
- 41:17Speaker 1: need you to show my life in some other capacity.
- 41:21Speaker 1: And ultimately the goodbye happened two weeks later. So well,
- 41:26Speaker 1: you know, for me, I was threatening not to go
- 41:28Speaker 1: to the reunion because I was so mad at how
- 41:31Speaker 1: it's kind of the same thing every way that they
- 41:33Speaker 1: could make me look bad. They made me look bad
- 41:35Speaker 1: my last season, and I was involved in this big
- 41:40Speaker 1: lawsuit and people were ringing it up. There's just a
- 41:42Speaker 1: lot going on. They show any my business and whatever.
- 41:45Speaker 1: And then so I'm like, I'm not going to the reunion.
- 41:47Speaker 1: There's no reason I'm quitting. I'm quitting. I was so dramatic, right,
- 41:51Speaker 1: and the day before the reunion, I was telling Alex,
- 41:54Speaker 1: I think I'm just gonna go and I'm gonna say that,
- 41:56Speaker 1: you know, I want to be the first housewife to resign.
- 41:59Speaker 1: I the reunion, this is my last season. It was
- 42:01Speaker 1: great piece out right. He's like, you're emotional. Don't do that, Please,
- 42:06Speaker 1: don't do that. You never know what you're gonna be
- 42:07Speaker 1: when they need to pick up letters come and then yeah,
- 42:10Speaker 1: no pick up letter came. Not to burst your bubble,
- 42:14Speaker 1: but you wouldn't have been the first housewife to do it.
- 42:16Speaker 1: Adrian did it by not showing up Brill union. She
- 42:19Speaker 1: was the first one because Andy made the rule of
- 42:22Speaker 1: if you don't show up to the reunion, then you
- 42:24Speaker 1: don't get to be a housewife. Oh and Lisa did
- 42:27Speaker 1: it too, right, right, but she did it after and
- 42:29Speaker 1: she had already let the press know before she didn't show. Well,
- 42:32Speaker 1: I showed up. I did my job. Yeah, no one's ever,
- 42:35Speaker 1: No one's ever showed up and quit. That's the thing, Teddy,
- 42:38Speaker 1: and I was encouraging you to do that, Teddy to time.
- 42:42Speaker 1: I remember I was like, you should just go and
- 42:44Speaker 1: quit it. It was I was so emotional. I had
- 42:48Speaker 1: a hard season. I had a lawsuit. I had just
- 42:51Speaker 1: found out days before the reunion that my ex husband
- 42:54Speaker 1: father and my kids had stage three throat cancer. I
- 42:58Speaker 1: was just like, how am I going to go back
- 43:00Speaker 1: to the show. My kids need me at home full time,
- 43:02Speaker 1: which it ultimately worked out for the best because they did.
- 43:06Speaker 1: I had Sophia full time and it would been just
- 43:09Speaker 1: too hard. I had to be there for her. Do
- 43:11Speaker 1: you think it worked out for the best for you
- 43:13Speaker 1: to Teddy? I think ultimately there are parts that I
- 43:18Speaker 1: think you go through a grieving process. I think there's
- 43:20Speaker 1: parts that are really challenging. You get used to it.
- 43:22Speaker 1: It's a new life for you. It opens more doors.
- 43:24Speaker 1: There are things that happen, and then once you get
- 43:26Speaker 1: through that, you let you gotta let yourself be sad
- 43:28Speaker 1: a little bit, and then all of a sudden, now
- 43:30Speaker 1: the things that I've been able to do since and
- 43:32Speaker 1: the life that I've been able to live since, I'm
- 43:34Speaker 1: really grateful for. And it's not I mean, I'm making
- 43:37Speaker 1: way more money than I ever made on the show,
- 43:39Speaker 1: so that's what it is. But I mean I missed
- 43:42Speaker 1: the fun times, I missed the travel. But you know, yeah,
- 43:45Speaker 1: I mean it's quite an experience, good and bad, and
- 43:49Speaker 1: it's hard to go back to your old life. Day.
- 43:52Speaker 1: Will you come back again for us? Literally any time now.
- 43:57Speaker 1: I've loved to hear all your opinions on Yeah, where
- 44:03Speaker 1: do people find you? I'm on both Instagram and Twitter
- 44:07Speaker 1: at nine days and I any d a d E
- 44:10Speaker 1: s well now that you are a public person. I
- 44:13Speaker 1: think you need to change your handles, Dave Quinn. Let's see,
- 44:17Speaker 1: I would love to number one author, number one best
- 44:20Speaker 1: selling author of Not All Diamonds and Rose. You guys
- 44:24Speaker 1: have to get it so any place you want to keep,
- 44:27Speaker 1: any place you want to send people to buy the book,
- 44:30Speaker 1: anywhere it's sold. Great. Thank you so much, big, thank
- 44:35Speaker 1: you so much. Thank you, Dave, Love you,
