- 1:28Speaker 1: should be a place for you to drop your questions.
- 1:30Speaker 1: And we've already gotten so many great ones. So I
- 1:32Speaker 1: wanted to start off. Oh can I find it? Oh? Yes, okay,
- 1:37Speaker 1: so here it is. Mike s asked right there, what
- 1:41Speaker 1: was both Joel and Daniel's history with Scrubs and what
- 1:43Speaker 1: brought y'all to the podcast? Okay, um, I can tell
- 1:47Speaker 1: my story really really quick. I was in the office
- 1:50Speaker 1: very early one day because I'm an early riser, and
- 1:53Speaker 1: our boss, the fabulous Jack, said, Hey, are you Scrubs fan?
- 1:57Speaker 1: I said, I'm a human, so yes, of course I
- 2:00Speaker 1: love Scrubs and so I had to check it and
- 2:02Speaker 1: he was like, okay, well, we've got a really important
- 2:05Speaker 1: call with Zack and Noneald today. Could you come on
- 2:07Speaker 1: and talk to them? I mean, guys, I was six
- 2:11Speaker 1: weeks maybe into my employment. I I was like, fresh,
- 2:14Speaker 1: what is this what we're doing? Oh my gosh. So
- 2:17Speaker 1: we sat down they started pitching the show, which is
- 2:20Speaker 1: pretty much all the core elements we talked about in
- 2:22Speaker 1: that conversation didn't make it to the show, and I
- 2:25Speaker 1: was I was hooked up. I was like, I have
- 2:27Speaker 1: to be the one to produce this show. And so
- 2:30Speaker 1: I got really lucky and I was excited and I
- 2:31Speaker 1: loved it. Daniel, how'd you come to be a part
- 2:34Speaker 1: of it? Got you? Jil friends Well, in very similar experience,
- 2:37Speaker 1: I was. I was the only engineer at the office
- 2:39Speaker 1: that day. No, you know, at the time, my position
- 2:44Speaker 1: in the office was basically to be the person who
- 2:47Speaker 1: starts the recordings, who make sure that every recording goes smoothly,
- 2:50Speaker 1: everybody is equipped properly and is good to go when
- 2:53Speaker 1: an actual recording starts. And same kind of thing where
- 2:58Speaker 1: Jack was like, hey man, we need we need someone
- 2:59Speaker 1: to you know, set up the Scrubs recording. And I
- 3:03Speaker 1: knew that high school me who watched Scrubs every single
- 3:05Speaker 1: episode was a huge fan and actually sang guy love
- 3:08Speaker 1: at a high school performance. It was like, I, oh yeah,
- 3:12Speaker 1: I was like, I got I'm I'm in. So I
- 3:15Speaker 1: dropped off some equipment for the boys and here we
- 3:17Speaker 1: are a whole live show. Two live shows later, Oh,
- 3:21Speaker 1: oh my gosh, We're so lucky. That we've got to
- 3:23Speaker 1: be a part of this show. You guys, the fans
- 3:26Speaker 1: are incredible and we're not gonna make you wait anymore.
- 3:29Speaker 1: You the main attractions are coming up right now, right now, guys,
- 3:35Speaker 1: welcome seven dotle. Hello. I can't hear our music. Play
- 3:43Speaker 1: our music play loud? Yes, Donald, you picked this jam.
- 3:58Speaker 1: This is a banger. I know this banger. I don't
- 4:01Speaker 1: know if you know this. No, I need to get
- 4:03Speaker 1: to know the bob. What are you doing, Pop and
- 4:05Speaker 1: a half? What has happened in your life that you
- 4:07Speaker 1: are not listening to the radio. We don't. We are
- 4:11Speaker 1: down with iHeart and you don't know popular music? That
- 4:14Speaker 1: is that his new jam? That Bruno's new jam. Not
- 4:17Speaker 1: only Bruno, it's Anderson Pack Like it's freaking silk Si.
- 4:21Speaker 1: You're stilk sonic baby. Hi, everybody, we're dimes. You wouldn't
- 4:27Speaker 1: be a hundred dollars. Donald waved everybody. Donald waved everybody. Helloha,
- 4:32Speaker 1: Hi everybody all over the world. I'm so glad you're here.
- 4:38Speaker 1: We're so excited. We had so much fun doing this
- 4:40Speaker 1: last time. That put on put on Gucci for y'all,
- 4:43Speaker 1: and Donald's in his closet and his daughter just took
- 4:46Speaker 1: a shower, so he's it's very hot in there. He's
- 4:49Speaker 1: wearing little little mist it's a little I'm wearing. I'm
- 4:52Speaker 1: wearing corduroy in Manhattan on the summer for you guys,
- 4:55Speaker 1: because I wanted to look my best. I only I
- 4:59Speaker 1: only have suits. I don't have summer suits. I don't
- 5:02Speaker 1: have summer suits either. Yeah, summer suit is like remember
- 5:06Speaker 1: when Obama wore that suit and got all that flak.
- 5:09Speaker 1: That's a summer suit. Yes, it's light. I don't have
- 5:13Speaker 1: any light suits anyway, everybody, All I got is winter suits.
- 5:17Speaker 1: I'm so glad we're here and donald don't feel bad.
- 5:20Speaker 1: You can strip layers as the show goes on. I
- 5:23Speaker 1: would like to because this is really hot. I know
- 5:25Speaker 1: you have a hand towel for your forehead because you
- 5:27Speaker 1: like rappers. You're you know, like they keep up on
- 5:30Speaker 1: the stage and they go like this, yeah dat yeah
- 5:33Speaker 1: yeah you got have to do that. Yeah, because it's
- 5:35Speaker 1: warm in this room. Yeah, you look sweaty as fu already.
- 5:38Speaker 1: Plus the light, the light is really really hot. You
- 5:41Speaker 1: guys like, no, I like to take the jacket off
- 5:43Speaker 1: now yet, Okay, okay, come on at least let us
- 5:46Speaker 1: welcome our first guest, but not just yet. I just
- 5:48Speaker 1: want to say I'm so excited. I didn't really know
- 5:51Speaker 1: which episode we were doing, and I just watched it
- 5:53Speaker 1: and we picked one of the saddest episodes, Scrubs this Street.
- 5:59Speaker 1: You like, you were like, yo, you should do a
- 6:01Speaker 1: rap recap for this. And then I watched the show
- 6:04Speaker 1: and I was like, you gotta be out of your mind.
- 6:05Speaker 1: There's no way. It's just like every like everything that
- 6:08Speaker 1: could happen. Did you think you could happen? Did you?
- 6:11Speaker 1: I got a little okay, well, show us where you
- 6:14Speaker 1: started and where where where would have gone? And then
- 6:16Speaker 1: you realized that it was a very depressing episode. Okay,
- 6:19Speaker 1: it's pretty quick, but it goes like okay, but it's
- 6:22Speaker 1: the intro. I imagine, hey, hey, hey, it goes like this,
- 6:25Speaker 1: okay your head yeah wait, hold up, yeah, it's back
- 6:29Speaker 1: that fire recap. You could tell by the Swell client
- 6:32Speaker 1: tell we you tract that me, DJ Daniel, Joel lind
- 6:36Speaker 1: Zach All, the real class act. It's a well known fact. Yo,
- 6:40Speaker 1: I come through with the good news to kill your blues.
- 6:43Speaker 1: And then I watched the show and I was like, wait,
- 6:44Speaker 1: hold up Goode very name. That was so good, So
- 6:57Speaker 1: I love it in my mind. You like wrote in
- 7:00Speaker 1: intro and you're like, this would be awesome, and then
- 7:01Speaker 1: you watch the show and you're like crying. You're like,
- 7:03Speaker 1: I can't rap about this ship. There's no way, there's
- 7:05Speaker 1: no way, there's no way. It's so sad. The shining
- 7:10Speaker 1: bright spot of comedy in the show. We'll get into
- 7:13Speaker 1: his Rob Rob Maso. And by the way, it's, by
- 7:16Speaker 1: the way, the funny thing about Scrubs, the ultimate the
- 7:19Speaker 1: ultimate example of you can have the crazy, sad things
- 7:24Speaker 1: that happened in the show, and then the other main
- 7:26Speaker 1: story is the silliest fucking thing with Rob with Rob,
- 7:30Speaker 1: with Rob. Can't see his name, Rob Mashio. You see
- 7:33Speaker 1: Mashio or Mashio. I say mash I call him mash
- 7:36Speaker 1: Rob Mashi, I say Mashio. All right, we'll find out
- 7:39Speaker 1: maybe one day what it is. All right, Listen, we
- 7:40Speaker 1: have a I have so many surprises. Donald doesn't even
- 7:43Speaker 1: know about some surprises. I don't know who's on the
- 7:45Speaker 1: show tonight. Yes, I wanted to keep it from my
- 7:47Speaker 1: from my lover. Now Joel, we have a pole going
- 7:50Speaker 1: just because we want you to to know we do polls.
- 7:52Speaker 1: How's the going so far? Guys? We asked everyone what
- 7:55Speaker 1: their favorite podcast song is, Daniel, can you give us
- 7:58Speaker 1: an update? All right? Well, when this pole comes up again,
- 8:02Speaker 1: I will be able to give you a full on update.
- 8:04Speaker 1: But right now the chat is flying so fast. Are
- 8:07Speaker 1: people happy in the chat? Different? Oh, they're thrilled. Okay,
- 8:09Speaker 1: to make sure you, guys, make sure you have them
- 8:12Speaker 1: to look directly in the lens. You Jim, Carol, Michael, Carl,
- 8:18Speaker 1: Stephen Doan, Jabari how Ling, Lisa. Yeah, you say your name.
- 8:32Speaker 1: If we hadn't said your name, I'm talking to you.
- 8:34Speaker 1: Make sure you ask the questions because Well is going
- 8:36Speaker 1: to look through them and look for good questions. Okay
- 8:40Speaker 1: to me, without further ado, I can't waste any more
- 8:43Speaker 1: time bringing Donald focus. I'm sorry, I was just talking
- 8:47Speaker 1: to all the girls. I love you. I'm around the
- 8:50Speaker 1: way yo. Okay, I'm hyped, I'm ready, I'm ready. I know,
- 8:54Speaker 1: I know this is very exciting. We don't normally if
- 8:57Speaker 1: we were naming people and then all of a sudden,
- 8:58Speaker 1: I got into Lisa, Angela Pamelo, Renee, I love you
- 9:03Speaker 1: from around the Way. You remember that ain't Daniel my
- 9:08Speaker 1: I around away girl El cool jeez the one, but yes,
- 9:18Speaker 1: totally I listened. Guys, we have a jam pack show.

- 9:34Speaker 1: watching the live show. I love you for real. I
- 9:37Speaker 1: always always talks to these famous as though they watch
- 9:40Speaker 1: like no offense, Hello, But that's true? All right? Listen? Uh,
- 9:45Speaker 1: why don't we count galling into the theme song and
- 9:47Speaker 1: then bring in our guests? Sounds great to me about
- 9:53Speaker 1: show me about a bunch of talks and nurses story?
- 10:04Speaker 1: So getata around here? Are yet around here? M h?
- 10:17Speaker 1: Shut up now. The question in the pole is, of course,
- 10:21Speaker 1: what's your favorite song? I thought after that, maybe Joelle,
- 10:23Speaker 1: we could do what's your favorite sound effect? Noise on
- 10:26Speaker 1: my pad? No? Please, god, no, no, no no no.
- 10:28Speaker 1: Why Why are you worried? Are you worried it's gonna
- 10:33Speaker 1: idea it is? Are you worried it's gonna be? That? A? Right?
- 10:36Speaker 1: So Joel, when we're done with this poll, can you
- 10:37Speaker 1: switch it to my most common sound effects noises. Dani
- 10:41Speaker 1: will know them. Do you want to check in with
- 10:43Speaker 1: the pole right now? Yes, check it out. We'll bring
- 10:45Speaker 1: the pole up. So uh, the question was what is
- 10:48Speaker 1: your favorite fake doctors? Can we show the pole? Um? Um? Kayla? Kayla?
- 10:52Speaker 1: Is our tech rep today? Kayla? Is it possible to
- 10:54Speaker 1: show the poll? Or is that weird? Get? We could
- 10:57Speaker 1: get the mainscreen up, it would show, it would show
- 10:59Speaker 1: the tire, it would show the entire live stream. Okay,
- 11:02Speaker 1: we'll be kind of small, but I'm happy to read
- 11:04Speaker 1: it to you. Are you reading the meantime? Wait at
- 11:07Speaker 1: the bottom? The Caller song by Travy Webby Okay, no offense,
- 11:11Speaker 1: Travy great song. Offense. Fourth place. Zach's ice Cream Song. Oh,
- 11:20Speaker 1: I'm glad that's pulling because sorry, Dale, I'm glad it's
- 11:22Speaker 1: pulling because it's brand new and um and I gotta
- 11:26Speaker 1: I took a recording. Sorry, I can't digress for one moment,
- 11:29Speaker 1: you guys, I want to play. I went out there
- 11:31Speaker 1: today to the ice cream team, and I wanted you
- 11:35Speaker 1: to hear what I hear non stop, NonStop my recording. Um,
- 11:39Speaker 1: you'll there's a man that the ice cream truck parked
- 11:42Speaker 1: and blocked the corner, and a gentleman an electric wheelchair
- 11:45Speaker 1: couldn't get by, And so you'll hear him complaining, rightfully
- 11:48Speaker 1: so about this freaking ice cream truck. Okay, this is
- 11:53Speaker 1: what I hear all day long, story all day Donald
- 12:07Speaker 1: It's it's really that perfect, like slightly off pods, fucking
- 12:17Speaker 1: eyes creamy, come on your eyes all right? Well, I'm
- 12:23Speaker 1: glad that's ok when we say come get your eyes
- 12:27Speaker 1: creamed off cream Okay. Third is Casey, come down here higher.
- 12:38Speaker 1: I do know what it pulled higher, it's a bomb.
- 12:40Speaker 1: Well in second place, another Travvy Wavy classic Joel Monique
- 12:44Speaker 1: is down. I mean, I really think that's the finest
- 12:47Speaker 1: song that's ever been written by Travy Labby Well, according
- 12:50Speaker 1: to our audience, the number one most favorite song on
- 12:52Speaker 1: Fake Doctor's Real Friends. Did you try to get the things? What?
- 13:04Speaker 1: Is it? All right? All right? Without further ado, without
- 13:09Speaker 1: further ado, um our special guests, one of the greatest
- 13:13Speaker 1: actors in the world. Uh. If you don't believe that,
- 13:17Speaker 1: watch this fucking episode. Holy shit is he good? Ladies
- 13:20Speaker 1: and gentlemen, Mister Johnny ce McGinley, there is exactly sir, Johnny,
- 13:32Speaker 1: how are you, sir? I'm good. We're back at school.
- 13:35Speaker 1: Everybody's Kate just came home from soccer match's here. We're
- 13:39Speaker 1: We're in full effect. We're in full effect. Um, Johnny,
- 13:43Speaker 1: I gotta tell you, when I picked the episode, I
- 13:46Speaker 1: didn't know that it would be one of the saddest
- 13:49Speaker 1: episodes ever. Um. And also I read online that it's
- 13:53Speaker 1: one of our highest rated episodes, you know, in terms
- 13:55Speaker 1: of there's I guess I AMDB or other or other
- 13:58Speaker 1: metacritic they bolt or fans or I don't know, maybe
- 14:02Speaker 1: fans and critics they rate each individual episode somehow. And
- 14:06Speaker 1: I'm told this is tied with another one for people's favorite. Wow.
- 14:12Speaker 1: And you know why that is, Johnny, because I'm just
- 14:14Speaker 1: gonna die right And this one, this is uh, it's
- 14:18Speaker 1: build a tad Quill tad quill with Bill obviously all
- 14:21Speaker 1: the writers, but Tad's name is on it. Believe, so
- 14:23Speaker 1: John Michelle shout him out, dude. Our editor John Michelle
- 14:26Speaker 1: directed this episode. Our editor John Michelle did a fantastic
- 14:29Speaker 1: job directing this episode. But Johnny, C I just gotta
- 14:33Speaker 1: go right to it, holding shit, your performance in this
- 14:36Speaker 1: episode is incredible, and I just want to know, how
- 14:39Speaker 1: did you, How did you prepare for this? How did you?
- 14:42Speaker 1: What did then? Actor doesn't just dive into a performance
- 14:46Speaker 1: like you give at the end of this show. What
- 14:48Speaker 1: did you? What was your process? Especially after five you know,
- 14:52Speaker 1: as you know, I keep these, uh and I had
- 14:56Speaker 1: three I had three notebooks for this season because the
- 15:00Speaker 1: twenty four episodes, so we were we were fully into it.
- 15:04Speaker 1: And by the time we did this, I wrote down
- 15:07Speaker 1: that in September we went to the Emmys together, that
- 15:11Speaker 1: the spring, the fall before this would have been in
- 15:15Speaker 1: March or so, because it was towards the end of
- 15:16Speaker 1: the season. In November, I went up with my girlfriend
- 15:20Speaker 1: at the time who would become my wife, Nicole, and
- 15:24Speaker 1: we went up to see Fritz San Francisco lose to
- 15:27Speaker 1: the Giants in the NFC Championship, and so a lot
- 15:31Speaker 1: of things were happening in This was season five, and
- 15:35Speaker 1: I wrote in my notebook, I was obsessed this year.
- 15:40Speaker 1: In the front of the notebook, I put show up,
- 15:44Speaker 1: tell the truth, compassion, and give love, and I thought
- 15:47Speaker 1: that was and I didn't even know that Billy was
- 15:50Speaker 1: going to write this episode, but that's what I was
- 15:52Speaker 1: obsessed with this year, I was obsessed with compassion. And
- 15:57Speaker 1: about four years before this, I went down to to Southport,
- 16:01Speaker 1: North Carolina, and I did an okay baseball movie called
- 16:05Speaker 1: Summer Catch. And one night I was driving to Wilmington,
- 16:10Speaker 1: which was about thirty minutes from where we were Wilmington,
- 16:12Speaker 1: North Carolina, and on the way home from Wilmington, I
- 16:17Speaker 1: heard the song on the radio by a group called
- 16:22Speaker 1: kick Ki KTA and I pulled over and it was
- 16:27Speaker 1: this women's ensemble. You can play it if you want, Daniel, Daniel,
- 16:31Speaker 1: you hadn't I think we do a night And I
- 16:34Speaker 1: pulled over. It's it's suffered talking over, so it's okay.
- 16:38Speaker 1: But I pulled over, and I've never heard anything like it.
- 16:42Speaker 1: I'd always it's a it's a women's Oakland, California vocal
- 16:46Speaker 1: ensemble group that goes mostly Eastern European like harvest songs.
- 16:53Speaker 1: I came to find this out. I didn't know any
- 16:55Speaker 1: of this. I just pulled over. The next day, I
- 16:58Speaker 1: called the radio station and I asked them what they
- 17:01Speaker 1: were playing and they filled in the information and I
- 17:03Speaker 1: just told you, And I felt like this, this women's
- 17:10Speaker 1: choral ensemble was sticking me, and then when we did
- 17:17Speaker 1: this episode, I pulled it up and it was what
- 17:20Speaker 1: was going through my mind when you and I were
- 17:22Speaker 1: doing the third act of this episode, of the whole time,
- 17:25Speaker 1: And what it reminded me of was the isolation I
- 17:29Speaker 1: felt when Max was born and we were in the
- 17:32Speaker 1: neonatal intensive care unit for those two or three weeks,
- 17:35Speaker 1: and it was very confusing, and what's Down syndrome? Anyway,
- 17:39Speaker 1: and I always felt like I had done something wrong,
- 17:43Speaker 1: and so this blame, this blame game happens in the
- 17:46Speaker 1: special needs community where you surely you did something wrong
- 17:50Speaker 1: and it turns out you had nothing to do with it.
- 17:52Speaker 1: And it's kind of an arrogant thing to think anyway.
- 17:55Speaker 1: And so I just want to pause. I want to
- 17:57Speaker 1: pause you there so you guys can turn the music off.
- 18:00Speaker 1: It's beautiful, but I just worry it's distracting for people,
- 18:03Speaker 1: um Johnny, I just for people that don't know Johnny
- 18:08Speaker 1: has a son with Down syndrome. And so you're saying
- 18:10Speaker 1: you tapped into that experience because Cott what Cox is saying,
- 18:16Speaker 1: somehow making what happens in this his his fault, his doing.
- 18:22Speaker 1: That's the connective tissue, and it had nothing to do with.
- 18:26Speaker 1: I didn't know if Billy would render this storyline. But
- 18:30Speaker 1: I'm familiar being an Irish person, I'm familiar with blame
- 18:36Speaker 1: and guilt, and I that was all very accessible to me,
- 18:43Speaker 1: immediately accessible, as well as the posture when when you
- 18:47Speaker 1: come in and we're in that doctor's room, that that lounge. Um.
- 18:53Speaker 1: I remember, I remember holding my stomach for two weeks,
- 18:56Speaker 1: two or three weeks while we were down at the
- 18:59Speaker 1: hospital with Actually, I just kept I don't even know why.
- 19:03Speaker 1: I don't have any stomach issues. I don't I don't
- 19:08Speaker 1: suffer from from throwing up and stuff. I just felt
- 19:12Speaker 1: like my insides were gonna burst. And that's that's what
- 19:16Speaker 1: was accessible to me in this episode. Yeah, well, god,
- 19:19Speaker 1: it was so beautiful, and I'm sure I speak on
- 19:22Speaker 1: half of everyone watching. Thank you for tapping into that,
- 19:25Speaker 1: because you know the magic of this show, Johnny, as
- 19:29Speaker 1: we always say, and as we said before right before
- 19:31Speaker 1: you came on, is that Bill Lawrence could create something
- 19:35Speaker 1: that could have I mean, I got goosebumps while you
- 19:37Speaker 1: were talking. I got goosebumps about five times while watching
- 19:39Speaker 1: the show. And then the other storyline is Todd Um
- 19:45Speaker 1: just pretty much deciding that he's coming with his sexuality. Yes,
- 19:49Speaker 1: he's what Joel, what goes beyond fluid? He will have
- 19:52Speaker 1: sex with any Isn't that queer? Isn't that what you
- 19:56Speaker 1: can You can use a term queer or polyamorous, whatever
- 20:00Speaker 1: best fits your situation. Yeah, fold how do you fold
- 20:04Speaker 1: an age there? Because at the end he reveals he's
- 20:06Speaker 1: also very tracking the seniors. I mean, all you're open whatever,
- 20:14Speaker 1: you're still that about time? Yeah, I too, this is
- 20:20Speaker 1: but he's walking down that fucking hallway at the end, dude,
- 20:23Speaker 1: and he's like that. I like that. What does these
- 20:27Speaker 1: things like? I like that. I like that. I like that.
- 20:30Speaker 1: I like that. Can you do that storyline in two
- 20:35Speaker 1: thousand and twenty one? Could you do that in two
- 20:37Speaker 1: thousand you could go further up further? Yeah at Italian sausage.
- 20:44Speaker 1: No no, no, no, no, no. He can't be a
- 20:46Speaker 1: sexual harasser. Yeah, he certainly can't be. He what is
- 20:49Speaker 1: he doing to the women's breast. He can't be doing
- 20:52Speaker 1: the motor boating. Motor boating, that's not a lot a lot.
- 21:00Speaker 1: I have a question to ask. There's a little behind
- 21:02Speaker 1: the scenes thing. What if I just press record right now? Oh,
- 21:09Speaker 1: I didn't press record either, DWN. You never told us
- 21:16Speaker 1: to talk about it a little. You never mentioned it,
- 21:22Speaker 1: and I forgot. But it's wrong. Now for those of you,
- 21:25Speaker 1: for those of you that's all listen, for those of
- 21:28Speaker 1: the audience knowing, for those of you in the audience
- 21:31Speaker 1: wondering what we're talking about. We're supposed to be audio
- 21:33Speaker 1: recording this for the for the eventual real audio podcast,
- 21:38Speaker 1: and Daniel, our engineer in charge, never told us to
- 21:42Speaker 1: do that. Daniello, let's start from the top. Can we
- 21:46Speaker 1: take it from the top. Yes, let's start off. Let's
- 21:49Speaker 1: start all over from the very beginning. This is why
- 21:51Speaker 1: we have backup recording a very good in our defense,
- 21:58Speaker 1: you never told us to audio record that. For those
- 22:02Speaker 1: of you who are listening to the audio recording, UM, sorry,
- 22:05Speaker 1: I don't know what's going on with my mike either, man, Like,
- 22:08Speaker 1: this is not good right now, I'm not an audience
- 22:12Speaker 1: watching the show. Just focus on you. I just wanted
- 22:14Speaker 1: to say, I just wanted to make it clear that
- 22:16Speaker 1: I forgot to do that. I'm sorry. Okay, listen, it's fine.
- 22:22Speaker 1: Let's go to the top of the show, guys, because
- 22:24Speaker 1: we are here to do a Scrubs Rewatch podcast. It's
- 22:27Speaker 1: called My Lunch, and all JD wants is to go
- 22:32Speaker 1: to lunch with his mentor his hero, uh, doctor Coxon.
- 22:37Speaker 1: He's got an angle for it, and Johnny, you want
- 22:40Speaker 1: nothing to do with it. I think it's genius when
- 22:44Speaker 1: you go. When you go because it's ludicrous, it's just
- 22:49Speaker 1: because it's ludicrous. It just seems like you're telling your
- 22:53Speaker 1: absolute truth. Yeah, there's no way, there's no I don't
- 22:58Speaker 1: think JD's putting on it in his mind. There's no way,
- 23:03Speaker 1: there's no way. You don't want to. And interestingly enough,
- 23:07Speaker 1: you know, Cox doesn't give JD many inklings that he
- 23:12Speaker 1: truly cares about him. He doles them out very sparingly.
- 23:15Speaker 1: But he but he does in this episode at the end,
- 23:18Speaker 1: he really does say hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, I
- 23:21Speaker 1: want to give you you need to know this about
- 23:25Speaker 1: blaming yourself. And it's the writing is so genius because,
- 23:29Speaker 1: of course, unexpectedly, it's the setup of the it's the
- 23:32Speaker 1: setup of well it's unexpected to Johnny, but to the audience.
- 23:37Speaker 1: I was like, this is such a setup to it.
- 23:39Speaker 1: He's going, yeah, but you're watching it from an actor
- 23:42Speaker 1: writer perspective. I saw any of that coming. Well, I've
- 23:46Speaker 1: seen this episode quite a few times now too, but
- 23:49Speaker 1: I will I will say this from the from my perspective,
- 23:52Speaker 1: it was like, oh, he just set himself up. When
- 23:55Speaker 1: he when he's giving JD this speech about how you
- 23:59Speaker 1: know you can't blame yourself and he has these three
- 24:03Speaker 1: patients in the hospital hanging on by a thread. It
- 24:07Speaker 1: was like, dude, you are you are you are jinxing yourself.
- 24:11Speaker 1: You do what Cox hates to do, you know what
- 24:14Speaker 1: I mean? When like the episode when he's pitching the note,
- 24:16Speaker 1: when he's throwing the note hitter in the hospital with
- 24:18Speaker 1: all the patients and somebody's and everybody's trying to keep
- 24:21Speaker 1: it down because they don't want him to know it's
- 24:23Speaker 1: the exact same thing here. But he crosses the line
- 24:25Speaker 1: and says, you know this is you know it's it
- 24:28Speaker 1: can't be your fault. Don't don't blame yourself, right, and
- 24:31Speaker 1: then it kicks him in his But this is where
- 24:33Speaker 1: it kicks him in the button. This is where it
- 24:34Speaker 1: got me, because when the first two passed away, it
- 24:36Speaker 1: was like, oh, okay, they were gonna die anyway. But
- 24:40Speaker 1: when the dude with deliver was it deliver of the kidney.
- 24:45Speaker 1: Kid with him. It's a kidney. Dave Bradford is, Yeah,
- 24:48Speaker 1: with the kidney. He wasn't supposed to die. Cox says
- 24:53Speaker 1: he had another month. He had another month. Yeah. A
- 25:00Speaker 1: dear friend of mine we went to NYU Grad together,
- 25:02Speaker 1: Dave Allen Warshovski, who is now the dean of the
- 25:05Speaker 1: grad Acting Theater program at USC. Wow. Oh, he's one
- 25:11Speaker 1: of the finest actors on the planet and also an
- 25:14Speaker 1: acting coach that I use. Used him for uh for
- 25:18Speaker 1: to get ready to go to Glen Darry Glen Ross
- 25:20Speaker 1: I was Jackie came to see I did a revival
- 25:24Speaker 1: of Glen Garry with Al Pacino and Abi kana Vali
- 25:27Speaker 1: about five years ago, and I went that I was
- 25:29Speaker 1: commuting down to USC to use David as my coach.
- 25:32Speaker 1: And wow, so there's a lot of history there before
- 25:37Speaker 1: or after, before or during while you were doing the play.
- 25:42Speaker 1: Did you go before to get coached or during? Yeah?
- 25:45Speaker 1: Two months. I spent two months community back and forth
- 25:48Speaker 1: to USC from out here in albou And it yielded.
- 25:52Speaker 1: It yielded all the dividends that I wanted it to.
- 25:54Speaker 1: I felt I was about to say because so you
- 25:56Speaker 1: went in there just ready to go. Then, yes, did
- 25:59Speaker 1: you start off book, Johnny, when did you start? When
- 26:02Speaker 1: you when you start off? Yeah, that's for those of
- 26:04Speaker 1: you who aren't familiar with theater. You it's very you know,
- 26:08Speaker 1: you start the rehearsal process and then as you're rehearsing
- 26:11Speaker 1: you begin to memorize it. And it's such a ball
- 26:14Speaker 1: or power move that few men or women would do
- 26:18Speaker 1: other than Johnny c McGinley. Just show up on day
- 26:20Speaker 1: one off book, because what's genius about that? If you
- 26:24Speaker 1: can do it, or have the wherewithal to do it
- 26:27Speaker 1: is then you're just there. Then it's about exploring and
- 26:30Speaker 1: not worrying about memorization. You're not in your head. You're
- 26:32Speaker 1: not paranoid like we all are about getting the memorization
- 26:36Speaker 1: down for a play. You're showing up on day one. Okay,
- 26:40Speaker 1: let's find this character, let's find these scenes. Let you
- 26:42Speaker 1: work with the legendary Paccino and the legendary Bobby kind
- 26:46Speaker 1: of volume. It was a great Kyndamit cast, Dynamite cast
- 26:50Speaker 1: that was bucket list stuff. And to me, it felt
- 26:54Speaker 1: like even if you put that to be with Al
- 26:56Speaker 1: Bobby and and and Richard and everybody on Broadway. Even
- 27:00Speaker 1: if you put that on your bucket list, it would
- 27:02Speaker 1: be fucking folly because you're never going to get to
- 27:04Speaker 1: do it. And so when I got to it, it
- 27:07Speaker 1: wasn't lost on me. So I said, I set up
- 27:09Speaker 1: a theater boot camp out here, and I had some
- 27:12Speaker 1: young kid from Pepperdine come over and just say the
- 27:16Speaker 1: off lines. Just I said, if you fucking say a
- 27:19Speaker 1: word to me about coaching or any input, I'm going
- 27:21Speaker 1: to punch in the fun. Just say the fucking lines.
- 27:26Speaker 1: And I put a metronome. I have a rehearsal space
- 27:29Speaker 1: out here. I put put a metronome in the rehearsal space,
- 27:32Speaker 1: and so that I would go at different cadences. I'd
- 27:35Speaker 1: be really quick, and then sometimes I would go slower
- 27:38Speaker 1: because I wanted to be ready for fucking everything. I
- 27:41Speaker 1: wanted to be ready for the cell phone to go off.
- 27:43Speaker 1: I wanted to be ready for the purple hairs at
- 27:45Speaker 1: the matinee. And I fucking well was. I was ready,
- 27:50Speaker 1: and it was the most exciting goddamn thing I've ever
- 27:53Speaker 1: Listen you actors, who are you, actors who are aspiring
- 27:56Speaker 1: actors who were watching Johnny C. Puts the work in
- 28:00Speaker 1: he had. You know, people are like, how does he
- 28:02Speaker 1: do these monologues? You don't just you don't just show
- 28:04Speaker 1: up in the morning and go, oh, I have a
- 28:06Speaker 1: monologue today. Johnny C has a rehearsal space. He would
- 28:09Speaker 1: videotape himself. He would look what he's telling about the metronome.
- 28:13Speaker 1: I mean, man, Johnny, you put the work in and
- 28:16Speaker 1: and man, does the metronome is genius? Man, that's how
- 28:19Speaker 1: you find Yeah, wow, that's amazing. I've never thought of that.
- 28:25Speaker 1: That is amazing. Um. Also, they were late, so it's
- 28:29Speaker 1: so a syncopatent. But weren't there times when al Pacino
- 28:33Speaker 1: just totally forgot his lines and you're all like, oh no, no,
- 28:40Speaker 1: we're out in the theater. When you forget your line,
- 28:42Speaker 1: it's called going up. And whenever I would go up,
- 28:45Speaker 1: he would start to put put the front of hair
- 28:49Speaker 1: forward and he would say, and the dua. There was
- 28:54Speaker 1: the dua. I went through the dua and everybody knew
- 28:58Speaker 1: Owl's up. The second most scary thing is when one
- 29:12Speaker 1: of the people that you're with on stage forgets their
- 29:14Speaker 1: lines and you're like, oh no, oh no, oh no,
- 29:17Speaker 1: I gotta help them, but how do I help them?
- 29:18Speaker 1: And then the scariest thing is when you're like, oh, no,
- 29:23Speaker 1: I and then you start getting panicky and you're like,
- 29:25Speaker 1: I don't know what any of my lines in the
- 29:27Speaker 1: next scene are. Either I get chilled, I get chilled.
- 29:32Speaker 1: I did Romeo and Julia as I did Romeo. When
- 29:36Speaker 1: I first gott of college and regional theater outdoors or
- 29:39Speaker 1: it was like a park in Connecticut, three thousand people
- 29:41Speaker 1: would come, and I knew that when I started, I
- 29:45Speaker 1: would start at the back of the park, like three
- 29:46Speaker 1: thousand people on blankets and my entrances Romeo was weaving
- 29:50Speaker 1: my way through them, and you know, I had a
- 29:52Speaker 1: mic on and I knew the second I started talking.
- 29:54Speaker 1: Romeo speaks for pretty much two and a half hours
- 29:57Speaker 1: with a few interruptions, and I was like, I I'm
- 30:01Speaker 1: nervous now thinking about it. And this is when I
- 30:03Speaker 1: was fresher in college. And so what I would do
- 30:05Speaker 1: is I would every single every single show Johnny before
- 30:11Speaker 1: I would get there early, and there was a church
- 30:14Speaker 1: that was part of our dressing rooms, and our dressing
- 30:16Speaker 1: rooms were in the church, and I would go into
- 30:18Speaker 1: the chapel and I would recite my entire show in
- 30:21Speaker 1: the church, because it was the only thing that would
- 30:24Speaker 1: calm me down is I would sit there and recite
- 30:26Speaker 1: the entire Romeo performance alone in the church before because
- 30:31Speaker 1: and then I would stand at the back of three
- 30:33Speaker 1: thousand people and go, Okay, here we go, and I
- 30:38Speaker 1: would just start calling, Oh my god, I don't know
- 30:41Speaker 1: if I could do it anymore. I don't know if
- 30:42Speaker 1: I could do anymore. It was I don't know that
- 30:45Speaker 1: I have a memory like that. Now you still have it.
- 30:48Speaker 1: You forget, That's the amazing thing about That's the amazing
- 30:51Speaker 1: thing about place. Within a month, you forget everything. But
- 30:54Speaker 1: if it's put in front of your face and you've
- 30:55Speaker 1: done the show before it's you, you jump right back
- 30:59Speaker 1: in rather fast. Uh. You know, that's that's very interesting
- 31:03Speaker 1: that you used you used to do that. I I
- 31:06Speaker 1: used to wait right before, like ten minutes before I
- 31:09Speaker 1: would go on stage. I would speed my lines through
- 31:13Speaker 1: the entire play. I would speed as fast as I could, Yeah,
- 31:17Speaker 1: as fast as I can, and then go on stage
- 31:21Speaker 1: ready to go. And there's no safety net, you know,
- 31:24Speaker 1: for those of you who aren't in theater, there's not.
- 31:26Speaker 1: You might think there's someone who whispers like it's that
- 31:28Speaker 1: that that person, that person doesn't exist anymore. Um, you know,
- 31:33Speaker 1: you're just on your own, You're and now in the
- 31:35Speaker 1: contemporary play, your fellow actors could be like you probably
- 31:39Speaker 1: want to be asking who's on the phone, don't you
- 31:43Speaker 1: You know in Shakespeare that is nobody. All right, get
- 31:55Speaker 1: back to let's get back to the episode, Jill Tracy. Um, yes,
- 32:01Speaker 1: you can't, you can't, you can't. We Sibermash's first entrance
- 32:04Speaker 1: because sorry, sorry sorry with with two orders and and
- 32:08Speaker 1: and and a part of a community that doesn't abide
- 32:12Speaker 1: any bullshit anymore. Um, when he came in and said
- 32:15Speaker 1: Italian sausage, I was really proud of Rob for Connadian
- 32:19Speaker 1: doing it, but I thought it was really fucking offensive.
- 32:21Speaker 1: I did. Yeah, dude, oh dude. Uh, the Todd is
- 32:25Speaker 1: the most offensive character in Scrubs history. The Todd is
- 32:28Speaker 1: very most offensive. Is this was Hall of Fame shit,
- 32:33Speaker 1: Oh yeah, this is this is the Todd. This is
- 32:36Speaker 1: coming out party too. That first of all, even the
- 32:38Speaker 1: Todd doesn't ever touch women, and then this episode, right
- 32:42Speaker 1: does he does? He does motor Boat two two of
- 32:46Speaker 1: our lead cast women, which is uh, certainly not appropriate um,
- 32:51Speaker 1: but but I laughed out loud, Johnny when you when
- 32:54Speaker 1: I say I got a ride from a friend to
- 32:56Speaker 1: the supermarket, and then we were that I'm white nuts on?
- 33:02Speaker 1: Was that the first? Was that the first eagle not
- 33:05Speaker 1: the first eagle, but it might be the first eagle
- 33:08Speaker 1: that's not riding a human being. Brendan Frasier was the
- 33:13Speaker 1: first eagle, and then there were many donald eagles and
- 33:16Speaker 1: then we just saw me eagle a patient. Uh, what
- 33:19Speaker 1: do you call a patient's family member? Um, now you're
- 33:23Speaker 1: eagling on the top of a porch. By the way,
- 33:25Speaker 1: how am I holding onto the porch? She's I'm like,
- 33:27Speaker 1: I got my hands. Like, Johnny, do you remember if
- 33:31Speaker 1: that was green screen or if we or if we No,
- 33:35Speaker 1: we went right behind the hospital on the other side
- 33:37Speaker 1: of the river, that neighborhood, and you got up on
- 33:41Speaker 1: top of the car. Maybe I was strapped to something. No,
- 33:44Speaker 1: I no, I had. I had some sort of stunt
- 33:46Speaker 1: rig that was strapping me to the top of the car.
- 33:48Speaker 1: I was doing it. I have a question ahead, where
- 33:51Speaker 1: the heck is the supermarket set at? Because it's clear
- 33:55Speaker 1: that it's a set. Obviously, No, it's not a set
- 33:58Speaker 1: that was the actual practical location. No, No, they found
- 34:01Speaker 1: they didn't want to deal with a big corporation, so
- 34:03Speaker 1: I think they found a mom and pop store. You know,
- 34:05Speaker 1: it's a pretty small looking store. They must have been pissed.
- 34:08Speaker 1: How many days did you spend their blocking their what
- 34:11Speaker 1: do you mean pissed? They got they got paid, they
- 34:13Speaker 1: got a location. But they could probably make you in
- 34:16Speaker 1: that food. No, are you new to the industry. They
- 34:18Speaker 1: do a calculation by how much they're gonna lose, and
- 34:21Speaker 1: they charge you more than that. Hey, I don't like
- 34:22Speaker 1: the condescending tone. That's car I will I will say that.
- 34:27Speaker 1: I thought. I thought when Nicole Sullivan, who plays the
- 34:32Speaker 1: gal at the deli, who had been on the show
- 34:35Speaker 1: quite a few times, and she's such a good actress,
- 34:38Speaker 1: so you're fixing you, she just drives. I'm gonna shed
- 34:42Speaker 1: sorry everybody, I can't fuck it's it's too hot for
- 34:45Speaker 1: Cord getting hotter in here. Yeah, I'm gonna just keep
- 34:47Speaker 1: taking it off. There we go. We need more talk
- 34:50Speaker 1: on me I made. I wanted to make a good
- 34:52Speaker 1: first impression. All right, she shows up, I can't show them.
- 34:57Speaker 1: I can't show she shows up and she just drives
- 35:00Speaker 1: that you and I have nothing to do, and she
- 35:02Speaker 1: just drives it. Yeah, yeah she does and she doesn't
- 35:08Speaker 1: and all the riffing. He's like, oh no, no, no,
- 35:10Speaker 1: no way, but I shouldn't have That's just that's just her.
- 35:12Speaker 1: She's so good at that kind of time. I remember
- 35:15Speaker 1: the first time I ever saw Nicole Sullivan ever do anything,
- 35:19Speaker 1: and it was mad TV. I had never heard of it,
- 35:22Speaker 1: and they parodied Clueless and she played Share she played Alicia.
- 35:28Speaker 1: I wasn't in it. There was like some dude something.
- 35:31Speaker 1: It's all right, But when I say, she crushed like
- 35:36Speaker 1: she was doing such a great Alicia Silverstone. And I
- 35:40Speaker 1: remember being like, yo, this woman is amazing. And so
- 35:44Speaker 1: when she came on the show, I was, I was.
- 35:46Speaker 1: It was. It was an exciting moment for me because
- 35:49Speaker 1: I I watched her for a really long time, you
- 35:53Speaker 1: know what I mean. Her and Michael who also was
- 35:55Speaker 1: on the show. Yeah, um, what do you guys? Graze
- 35:58Speaker 1: um the supermarket raising Um it seems to be controversial.
- 36:03Speaker 1: I've never been a Let me try this pretzel. No,
- 36:06Speaker 1: I don't think I'll buy any today because it is
- 36:09Speaker 1: steel it. Yes, I was gonna say it's gross. Like
- 36:16Speaker 1: people's hands in food and then your mouth and then morph.
- 36:19Speaker 1: I I just think about how many times like I
- 36:22Speaker 1: touch a tomato or a freaking U pair at the supermarket,
- 36:28Speaker 1: you know what I mean when I respected exactly, so exactly.
- 36:32Speaker 1: That's my point right there, that's my point. I'm gonna
- 36:34Speaker 1: take it. But there are people you can't do that.
- 36:36Speaker 1: I'm not talking about that. The section that we're in
- 36:39Speaker 1: with like the yogurt covered pretzels and the little things
- 36:41Speaker 1: that you can fill a bag with. There's lots of
- 36:44Speaker 1: people that consider it fine to just do a little
- 36:46Speaker 1: like taste tester. No, I'm not feeling it today. Noah, man,
- 36:51Speaker 1: that's gross. Take your hands off. I didn't even do that.
- 36:57Speaker 1: When there's there's Costco, there's Costco where you walk around
- 37:03Speaker 1: and take samples, all do it different. But now when
- 37:07Speaker 1: you put your hand in that thing, when you put
- 37:08Speaker 1: your hand in the whatever it is that dispenses the
- 37:11Speaker 1: nuts sort of pretzels, whatever that is. Yeah, yeah, now man,
- 37:16Speaker 1: that's looks nasty. It's nasty. That's nasty, man, that's nasty.
- 37:21Speaker 1: You know another thing that Bill, the other thing that
- 37:24Speaker 1: Bill did so well was really make her so lovable.
- 37:27Speaker 1: I know she's annoying and living together? What is that there?
- 37:34Speaker 1: And working together? We're working together and together, working together,
- 37:42Speaker 1: and we have to weather any storms because we're living together.
- 37:49Speaker 1: We're Christie, I can't get and we're living together. What
- 37:55Speaker 1: is happening? What is happening? Someone's welcome to our podcast. Welcome, Welcome,
- 38:05Speaker 1: I'm welcome, Welcome, Welcome, welcome, Welcome to our podcast, working
- 38:08Speaker 1: together and living together, working together and living together. Sleep
- 38:12Speaker 1: on hijack to where we're wearing so arnt swag. Yeah,
- 38:17Speaker 1: as always, I'm here with my wife Kristin Miller. I
- 38:20Speaker 1: can tell you Cristal Lawrence. Yeah, freme answer every time. Well,
- 38:25Speaker 1: you know, we worked together on Scrubs, on Cougartown. Christ
- 38:29Speaker 1: is also the music supervisor on all my shows. You
- 38:32Speaker 1: can ted Lasso. Um hey, look, you guys all know
- 38:35Speaker 1: how this works. If you live with someone in a
- 38:37Speaker 1: relationship we also work with, you can text Joel see
- 38:42Speaker 1: where you work together and hit us up with the question.
- 38:44Speaker 1: Yeah christ podcast say that. So we got some cool
- 38:49Speaker 1: guests today. Our first guest you know, from Scrubs, from
- 38:52Speaker 1: like every Ali our Stone movie from Broadway, so many
- 38:57Speaker 1: t shows, including Brooklyn nine nine right now, say had
- 38:59Speaker 1: a John, see you again with a little time. Thank you, buddy. Thanks,
- 39:07Speaker 1: you'll be on here of course. Funny and look the
- 39:11Speaker 1: next guest. I want to bring one right away. You
- 39:12Speaker 1: know from Scrubs, tons of great TV shows, movies, clues,
- 39:16Speaker 1: remember the Titans waiting to exhale Donald Phaison. Let's bring
- 39:19Speaker 1: on Donald Faison. Thank you for having me on the show. Yeah, yes,
- 39:26Speaker 1: from Chicken Little Zach. Yes, so we have some questions
- 39:35Speaker 1: if we want to start with but the uh, this
- 39:38Speaker 1: is real, like one of the weirdest things for me.
- 39:40Speaker 1: I can't believe you hijacked our show. Hey, your question
- 39:44Speaker 1: eventually one of the things that first time I was
- 39:48Speaker 1: working together because I fired to be I can use.
- 39:50Speaker 1: I really enjoyed the spending time all of you too.
- 39:53Speaker 1: But one of the weird things about it for me,
- 39:56Speaker 1: list on Scrubs, John, you've done constant you know, movies, tchats,
- 40:01Speaker 1: we had romance scenes and sex scenes. It had to
- 40:04Speaker 1: be a little weird getting to know me as a
- 40:06Speaker 1: friend when you were doing romantic scenes with Krista. Does
- 40:09Speaker 1: it change the biball for an actor if you kind
- 40:12Speaker 1: of are friends with the spouse, is there and we're
- 40:15Speaker 1: just around all the time. What are you doing? Because
- 40:18Speaker 1: I told you I told a story on one time
- 40:21Speaker 1: Zack and Donald had a show and I told the
- 40:23Speaker 1: story and there, oh my god, Jo, don't carry into
- 40:26Speaker 1: this one time. Don't stan to really make out? And
- 40:33Speaker 1: you had instructed her or you diabolically told her to
- 40:37Speaker 1: kiss me with her tongue and I and she did,
- 40:40Speaker 1: And I came up to your room up on the
- 40:43Speaker 1: up on the fifth floor, fourth floor, and I told
- 40:46Speaker 1: you you did it, and then you waited one one
- 40:48Speaker 1: thousand you and you leaned in and you go, how
- 40:51Speaker 1: did it feel? Which is just hard. Anything I can
- 40:59Speaker 1: do to help the act process right the well. But
- 41:02Speaker 1: the real question I was that because Johnny and I,
- 41:04Speaker 1: you know, we've both been doing this for a good
- 41:06Speaker 1: one while. And that went down the first season the show.
- 41:09Speaker 1: You had to have a sex scene with christ Was
- 41:13Speaker 1: it weird? It with me being there and just being
- 41:18Speaker 1: on set and said, oh, she looked smoking hot during
- 41:21Speaker 1: that stup. I was so attracted to Christa Miller and
- 41:25Speaker 1: my my new boss wrote a scene where I had
- 41:29Speaker 1: to make out with her, and I being I truly
- 41:31Speaker 1: remember being very very nervous and um and I definitely
- 41:35Speaker 1: kept my lips very very close. I kept them pursed.
- 41:39Speaker 1: But then and then, as we got to know each
- 41:42Speaker 1: other and become closer, I was I was hoping that
- 41:44Speaker 1: I might get another opportunity, but I never did. No.
- 41:47Speaker 1: Well that's for incessor. You said you met a question, Um,
- 41:54Speaker 1: why why didn't I get to do a love scene
- 41:57Speaker 1: with Donald? Yeah? Said that he didn't want to do that.
- 42:01Speaker 1: He said, no, I would never I would never say that.
- 42:07Speaker 1: I would never say that a sexy vibe I heard. Yeah,
- 42:21Speaker 1: I did hear that you're about to start working on
- 42:23Speaker 1: a movie if you're awesome, gal Pal, I said, gal Pal,
- 42:26Speaker 1: And I want to hear you know about that really
- 42:28Speaker 1: honestly for a second. But first, as we do every week, Well,
- 42:31Speaker 1: we've got a question from the audience. Yea, oh cool.
- 42:36Speaker 1: Me and my wife both work at a bank. I
- 42:37Speaker 1: love it and she hates the job. I know I
- 42:39Speaker 1: should be okay with finding a new job, but is
- 42:41Speaker 1: it normal for me to be upset too? Yeah? I
- 42:44Speaker 1: think I mean, Look, I'll answer first. I think it's
- 42:46Speaker 1: just probably a product of you missing her and cherishing
- 42:49Speaker 1: and finding you. Guys spend together at work, so it
- 42:51Speaker 1: probably needs that you guys actually work well together, and
- 42:54Speaker 1: you're gonna have to find a way to fill that.
- 42:56Speaker 1: I will tell you right now, when christ I work together,
- 42:59Speaker 1: tell him you treat me. It's the only time that
- 43:00Speaker 1: you Bill at work. But I listened to him at work,
- 43:05Speaker 1: not at home. And really, I think your wife she
- 43:11Speaker 1: hates it. She should she should be able to find
- 43:13Speaker 1: a new job. You'll be fine. We hear at home,
- 43:18Speaker 1: all right, to ask about Zach and flows movie. But
- 43:21Speaker 1: I'm afraid that's all we have time for. You know,
- 43:23Speaker 1: we have time. We have time, don't remember plays out
- 43:28Speaker 1: back up, Charlie plays out? Whoa dann know? Dan leaves?
- 43:34Speaker 1: Can you stay for a little bit longer? Yes? Absolutely, Yeah,
- 43:42Speaker 1: it's not a good it's gonna say. Guys. Man, everybody,
- 43:50Speaker 1: calmed down, Calm down, Zack. This is a moment. I
- 43:54Speaker 1: am back to the I am back to being the
- 43:56Speaker 1: host of the show. Geez. By the way, I know
- 44:00Speaker 1: you guys, let me joke. I want to sincerely thank
- 44:03Speaker 1: you for allowing me occasionally come on my podcast. You
- 44:12Speaker 1: guys are nice enough to let me come on here
- 44:14Speaker 1: and talk. This is super cool. Let me love you
- 44:17Speaker 1: guys that I'm so happy that you're here. Don't play
- 44:21Speaker 1: his bad anymore because we're wait, wait, all right, no
- 44:27Speaker 1: more song, bring them back? Everybody, everybody calmed down. Um,
- 44:33Speaker 1: I'm so happy you guys are here. Um, this episode,
- 44:36Speaker 1: Bill is I think the ultimate example of your ability
- 44:41Speaker 1: to do something so dramatic and something so silly simultaneously.
- 44:45Speaker 1: You've got this tragic death of Jill Tracy alongside Rob
- 44:50Speaker 1: discovering that he's sexually attracted to everything that's a human
- 44:54Speaker 1: being that you guys were at first of all to
- 45:00Speaker 1: prove that I listen. Um, I am proudly a grazer
- 45:03Speaker 1: even today. I have plenty of money to buy yoga pretzels.
- 45:06Speaker 1: If you're in a grocery store and you're seeing that
- 45:08Speaker 1: I've had a handful of those presses, well, you're also
- 45:13Speaker 1: the type of person that everybody could have a slurpie
- 45:18Speaker 1: in their head, and you're the type of person that
- 45:19Speaker 1: would be like, oh, let me get some of that.
- 45:22Speaker 1: He does it. I don't share marriages. Nothing better in
- 45:29Speaker 1: the world than the first fire of somebody else's meal.
- 45:32Speaker 1: Bill would. Bill would walk up to a crew member
- 45:35Speaker 1: and and and be like, can I get a sip
- 45:38Speaker 1: of that coke? Addus is the first time he worked.
- 45:45Speaker 1: Bill lent into the Buyer's turkey sandwich office plate the
- 45:49Speaker 1: lessons don't leave your sandwich. That's a lesson. Billy, tell
- 45:56Speaker 1: us about Nicole Sullivan, because you guys are friends. Were
- 46:00Speaker 1: there were just you do you heard backstage Sunday. We
- 46:04Speaker 1: were just talking about how talented she is and how
- 46:07Speaker 1: eugeniously made. Even though she's supposed to be annoying, she
- 46:10Speaker 1: is lovable and you root for her and then and
- 46:13Speaker 1: then of course she dies and it's so sad. So
- 46:16Speaker 1: just tell everyone who's listening. I was watching. How did
- 46:19Speaker 1: you guys get to know Nicole? And how did she
- 46:22Speaker 1: come to the Scrubs world? She was Nicole was friends
- 46:25Speaker 1: with Christian she can go. Yeah. No, we lived. We
- 46:28Speaker 1: lived in the school um place in Laurel Kaye. And
- 46:31Speaker 1: if there's all these houses kind up and apartments, Jennifer
- 46:33Speaker 1: Anderson lived up there like all these actors. Nicole was
- 46:37Speaker 1: in there. Gabby Allen, who was a writer on Scrubs,
- 46:40Speaker 1: lived in my house, and so Nicole moved into the
- 46:43Speaker 1: middle floor and we became friends. She lived underneath me
- 46:46Speaker 1: and we both always thought she was you know, especially
- 46:49Speaker 1: the world that you guys were all in scrubs where
- 46:51Speaker 1: you had to be able to switch on a dime
- 46:54Speaker 1: between comedy and gooping around and drama. We need Nicole
- 46:57Speaker 1: could act, but we both knew her first and format
- 47:00Speaker 1: as a female Neil Flynn type, in that there is
- 47:03Speaker 1: almost no better female improviser when you can go to
- 47:06Speaker 1: the grocery store and say, hey, can you just make
- 47:08Speaker 1: up some stuff about what you're eating and maybe you
- 47:10Speaker 1: want a few more nuts, and she's she's so quick,
- 47:14Speaker 1: but much like Neil and our whole cash, she can
- 47:16Speaker 1: turn the corner and crush your hat. One years. That
- 47:20Speaker 1: was so amazing just watching her do that, a little
- 47:22Speaker 1: bit like, no, I shouldn't have it, Well I will,
- 47:23Speaker 1: but I wanted the backup for the turns was so amazing. Yeah,
- 47:28Speaker 1: I'm working with Nicole now actually on an m trip back.
- 47:37Speaker 1: I hope to make a reprieve. Yeah, come on it, bro,
- 47:40Speaker 1: Where's Donald's part was already in the script? Yeah, numerous times,
- 47:45Speaker 1: so I know that he's a perfect Johnny And I
- 47:49Speaker 1: have a question for you. Have you ever run into
- 47:51Speaker 1: Hugh Jackman? Yeah? What's going on? Yeah? Okay, I need
- 47:55Speaker 1: to know the story. Is this something that you wrote, Bill,
- 47:58Speaker 1: or is this something that no Hugh Jackman, But that's
- 48:02Speaker 1: a billy quick. I can tell you a real story
- 48:04Speaker 1: is that I wants And I don't know if it's
- 48:07Speaker 1: the s or not. On the internet read a real
- 48:12Speaker 1: sounding thing that said Hugh Jackman had a kid that
- 48:15Speaker 1: got shit at school because of scrubs, saying, um uh,
- 48:21Speaker 1: you know the doctor Cox saying of that about Hugh Jackmans.
- 48:24Speaker 1: I reached out to his agent and I wrote in
- 48:26Speaker 1: a note which is the truth of this. It said
- 48:29Speaker 1: we were trying to pick somebody. Wrote the agent a
- 48:33Speaker 1: note that said, please pass us on to Hugh and
- 48:37Speaker 1: his son if he wants. And I think the guy
- 48:40Speaker 1: said that it wasn't a big deal. It's just somebody
- 48:42Speaker 1: trying to get quicks or whatever quicks were back then.
- 48:44Speaker 1: But a letter is saying because of the reds are
- 48:46Speaker 1: what we truly try to do. It said it would
- 48:48Speaker 1: be fun for John mcginwiy to hate somebody that is
- 48:51Speaker 1: otherwise unhatable, for doctor Cox to love someone, I mean,
- 48:55Speaker 1: to hate someone because he's just too darn talented and
- 48:58Speaker 1: good at everything and accessible and kind and seems to
- 49:02Speaker 1: have no flaws. We felt that that human being would
- 49:05Speaker 1: bother doctor Cox. She was very cool. Oh, it was
- 49:08Speaker 1: like it was like an alpha male competition thing, like,
- 49:10Speaker 1: oh my, he's good at everything. What's the honest right now?
- 49:13Speaker 1: The guy can sing, he can dance, he's a leading man,
- 49:16Speaker 1: he's a Broadway start, he's gonna be a music man.
- 49:19Speaker 1: Bill I will be their opening night. It's gonna but
- 49:21Speaker 1: doesn't annoy on some level? Well, this is a bigger
- 49:24Speaker 1: question for christ Donald, johnny See, and Zach. Everybody has
- 49:27Speaker 1: a different thing when they see other people that are
- 49:30Speaker 1: very talented. Okay, so when I went and saw a
- 49:33Speaker 1: Book of Mormon that Trey and Matt wrote, and they
- 49:36Speaker 1: run to that before that really are done kind of
- 49:38Speaker 1: south Park and south Park Movie Team America. And I
- 49:41Speaker 1: saw it and saw that they were able to do that.
- 49:43Speaker 1: I went from really enjoying it and then to getting
- 49:47Speaker 1: furious that it was so good and then hating them
- 49:50Speaker 1: because I couldn't do it. And so that's how I
- 49:52Speaker 1: look at other talented people. That's how you can't do that.
- 49:55Speaker 1: It's probably healthy. So it probably makes you healthy that
- 49:57Speaker 1: you're like the top you're under in town because you're
- 50:00Speaker 1: you don't have that many people to hate like, if
- 50:01Speaker 1: you had this problem and you were not successful, you'd
- 50:04Speaker 1: have to hate so many people. Yeah, problem, it's still
- 50:07Speaker 1: fun ways to do it. But the real question is
- 50:10Speaker 1: for you all, do you do you get blown away?
- 50:12Speaker 1: I'll ask you because you're you get going away when
- 50:14Speaker 1: you see an actress do something that you're just like,
- 50:16Speaker 1: oh my gosh, I don't know if I can do that,
- 50:18Speaker 1: or you just do you go like, oh, I can't
- 50:20Speaker 1: do that. No, feel it's inspiring really yeah, And then
- 50:24Speaker 1: there's an article that actress is done. I want to
- 50:27Speaker 1: read it like, I'm really inspired and interested. It seems
- 50:30Speaker 1: like about you, John, you see something, I'm just I'm
- 50:34Speaker 1: interested for all free on that. If you see someone
- 50:36Speaker 1: while you're doing to get it, I get inspired. I
- 50:40Speaker 1: get really inspired. That's too healthy answers. I'm sorry, I
- 50:46Speaker 1: sweat everybody. I'm sorry. I can't help it. Virtual I
- 50:53Speaker 1: help it. I can easily recognize that, uh, that a
- 50:59Speaker 1: great performance. I didn't get salty and and and upset
- 51:04Speaker 1: because part of it is me realizing I'll probably never
- 51:09Speaker 1: be able to do what I just saw. One and
- 51:13Speaker 1: then fury, yeah, and then fury. Then the anger comes.
- 51:17Speaker 1: But at the end of the day. I'm always a fan.
- 51:18Speaker 1: I hate nobody, I love everybody and so hate I
- 51:22Speaker 1: would like to take in my heart that people would
- 51:24Speaker 1: take his respect. But like Chris and I saw Betrayal,
- 51:28Speaker 1: Harry Pinchers Betrayal, I'm huh and uh. You know, guy
- 51:32Speaker 1: that inspired dating man inspired so many different writers. And
- 51:35Speaker 1: I was just sitting there and digging on the performances
- 51:37Speaker 1: in the play and they just got more and more annoyed. Hey,
- 51:44Speaker 1: that's something you inspired you. I'm like that guy. That
- 51:49Speaker 1: guy I'm I'm never like that, but I do get
- 51:52Speaker 1: mad with every time I leave a Marvel movie or
- 51:55Speaker 1: something like that. Not because I hate the movie. I
- 51:57Speaker 1: love the movie so much, and I'm like, that's never
- 52:00Speaker 1: gonna happen for me, you know what I mean, That's
- 52:02Speaker 1: how I feel. And so yeah, he went to see
- 52:04Speaker 1: the premiere Black Widow and Kevin Figgy introduced it and
- 52:07Speaker 1: I was with Donald like, oh no, he's gonna go tackle.
- 52:11Speaker 1: I would have would have been like like hold him,
- 52:13Speaker 1: like on his knees, like Kevin, you need this, I
- 52:16Speaker 1: need this. I got I got from my wife and
- 52:20Speaker 1: from Zach, don't you. Yeah. On one side he held
- 52:23Speaker 1: his arm and on the other side. I held his
- 52:25Speaker 1: other Honest, there's a different version of zafter. Do you
- 52:29Speaker 1: guys ever use it as ball border material? Like for me? Yeah,
- 52:32Speaker 1: sometimes I do go, oh my god, help my game. Yeah,
- 52:36Speaker 1: I get inspired. I also get humbled sometimes I go,
- 52:38Speaker 1: I go, I can't. I don't think that I can
- 52:41Speaker 1: do that. And I and I. You know, when I
- 52:44Speaker 1: saw like bo Burnham's special inside, I thought, like, I
- 52:49Speaker 1: am good. I'm very lucky to work in this industry,
- 52:53Speaker 1: and I'm proud of what I do. But I'm not
- 52:56Speaker 1: like that could that was incredible? You know, I like,
- 52:58Speaker 1: I get someone times it makes me humble. I go,
- 53:01Speaker 1: I think, I'm okay. You know, I'm proud of the
- 53:03Speaker 1: work I do, but I might not be that good.
- 53:06Speaker 1: You know. Yeah, it's you guys all have healthier responses.
- 53:09Speaker 1: I'll try and get there. You know. The other thing
- 53:12Speaker 1: I've been focusing on about this is a true admission
- 53:14Speaker 1: before we have to swick. It's kids, it's teachers, parent
- 53:18Speaker 1: night school. I'm parch because you can tell the true story.
- 53:22Speaker 1: My wife I has sow here, My wife has a suted.
- 53:25Speaker 1: My wife has here and was taken away from me
- 53:28Speaker 1: before because apparently Burke Bill with work forty seven times
- 53:33Speaker 1: and okay, guys, guys, don't pick her. That's what it's like.
- 53:47Speaker 1: That's what it's like. Looks like when you go on
- 53:49Speaker 1: vacation with them. That's what it's like. That's what it's
- 53:52Speaker 1: not going to go on vacation with them. And that's
- 53:54Speaker 1: what's happening on one side of the table. And then
- 53:56Speaker 1: you cut to me and I'm like, oh way, I'm
- 54:00Speaker 1: so far. You just see your mom and dad. Stop fighting,
- 54:05Speaker 1: Stop bickering. I'm good sports. Can you fightless? You know
- 54:09Speaker 1: how many times I've been in the back seat and
- 54:11Speaker 1: we're racing somewhere and they're in the front seat and
- 54:13Speaker 1: they're driving, bickering, and I'm just like, guys, And then
- 54:23Speaker 1: she'll be like, Zach. And then she'll be like, Zach,
- 54:25Speaker 1: will you tell Bill that he's a bad driver? And
- 54:29Speaker 1: I'm I'm not going to tell that he's a bad driver.
- 54:31Speaker 1: He's like, look look at what what what are he's doing?
- 54:35Speaker 1: And he doesn't he's a slicker and he's not paying attention.
- 54:38Speaker 1: You know what Johnny see does Zach because he just
- 54:39Speaker 1: sits back and watches it like a tennis match that
- 54:41Speaker 1: they used. Look I think he gives him joy. He doesn't.
- 54:45Speaker 1: He doesn't get caught. John likes it. He likes Okay.
- 54:50Speaker 1: We love you, guys, We love you. Thank you for
- 54:54Speaker 1: away her show. Yeah, hey, come on, Donald, Johnny Ce,
- 54:58Speaker 1: come on leaving to get I'm working together. Anytime you, guys. Yeah,
- 55:01Speaker 1: thank you so much for doing our podcast. Thank you.
- 55:07Speaker 1: It's one of my most successful podcasts. Yeah, anytime, anytime, Bill, anytime,
- 55:11Speaker 1: no problem, Thank you, guys. Oh my god, that was exhausted.
- 55:23Speaker 1: Ye yo, I'm so tired too well. I need it
- 55:28Speaker 1: now so much. By the way, By the way, when
- 55:34Speaker 1: you go on vacation with them, I'm not lying, that's
- 55:36Speaker 1: that's it. It's like that the whole time, and you're like, guys, guys, guys, guys,
- 55:40Speaker 1: just let's just all not talk for a secondly. It's
- 55:48Speaker 1: fun man, I like, they're very funny, but they're I
- 55:51Speaker 1: love them, they're my best friends. But they are so intense. Johnny,
- 55:55Speaker 1: you know, you spend time with them for the summer.
- 55:59Speaker 1: H Chris and Billy running a place run around the
- 56:02Speaker 1: corner from here, and they came over and the two boys,
- 56:06Speaker 1: Will and Henry were with them, and uh, they started
- 56:11Speaker 1: talking about summer camp, boys summer camp, and they all
- 56:14Speaker 1: got into summer camp mode, which grosses christ out. It
- 56:18Speaker 1: grosses her out the whole everything about it, the dirt,
- 56:22Speaker 1: the filth, the things that go on in boys summer camps.
- 56:26Speaker 1: And they were clear on that and they just pummeled.
- 56:29Speaker 1: It was like they were giving her a root canal,
- 56:32Speaker 1: and it was they pick up on Billy and Christa's
- 56:36Speaker 1: way of attack, and they just there was three against one.
- 56:41Speaker 1: It's three against one, and christ of course I teamed
- 56:43Speaker 1: up with Christian did to protect her. But it's brutal. Yeah,
- 56:49Speaker 1: they're they're there. They make it work. It's you know,
- 56:55Speaker 1: by the way it goes without saying audience that they
- 56:57Speaker 1: are clearly the inspiration for Jordan and doctor Cox. I
- 57:01Speaker 1: think it's safe to say. I think I think catch up.
- 57:04Speaker 1: I think you're safe to say that. Let's take a break.
- 57:07Speaker 1: We'll be right back after these fine words. Um is
- 57:16Speaker 1: surprise guest one here, Yes, now, the way we're gonna
- 57:21Speaker 1: do this, Johnny, close my eyes, no, john Johnny c
- 57:24Speaker 1: as well, you're gonna cover your eyes or close your
- 57:27Speaker 1: eyes and okay, now surprise you're gonna oh my god,
- 57:52Speaker 1: you're gonna give me a heart attach quietown, quietown, quietown.
- 58:05Speaker 1: Everybody come down, Ken, but you have to be quieter
- 58:13Speaker 1: because you're not the host. You have to be a
- 58:15Speaker 1: little quieter. Oh man, all right now, quietown? Now, Bill,
- 58:22Speaker 1: your guest, yes, all right, let me cover my eyes
- 58:25Speaker 1: a right, cover your eyes? Bill, You cover them too.
- 58:28Speaker 1: It's surprised. Guest one here. Oh no, Guest one is frozen.
- 58:32Speaker 1: No this one. Oh, Guess two is here. Okay, let's
- 58:38Speaker 1: start with guests two. You're gonna start with guest two. Okay,
- 58:41Speaker 1: cover your eyes, guys, Bill, cover your eyes. I'm serious,
- 58:43Speaker 1: no cheating. Let's bring any guests two. Guests two, please
- 58:46Speaker 1: don't say anything. Don't say anything. Okay, now, guests to
- 58:50Speaker 1: say something that will reveal to these three men who
- 58:53Speaker 1: you are. Let's take it after the banana ham now match.
- 59:12Speaker 1: I'm glad to have you here because this episode is
- 59:15Speaker 1: really mostly about you and Johnny C but at polar
- 59:18Speaker 1: opposite sides of the drama comedy spectrum. Guests one is
- 59:23Speaker 1: back for now, I know. But Guess one is gonna
- 59:25Speaker 1: wait while Joel and Dan'll figure out her tech issues
- 59:28Speaker 1: his or her tech issues. Um first, Bill, Yes againy
- 59:33Speaker 1: haven't seen him a long time, Doctor Cox, haven't had
- 59:36Speaker 1: a chance to tell you that shit your name rocks
- 59:48Speaker 1: this year up. Robert questioned about the banana hammocks because
- 59:54Speaker 1: I was in the Central Park a Chief's meadow, Johnny,
- 59:58Speaker 1: see you know it well, Bill, you norwell. And there's
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: a lot of gay men and European men and perhaps
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: straight man although stereotypically not their things wearing speedos and
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: their penises are held pretty tightening, I think against their bodies,
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: whereas you in the show. I've now watched five seasons.
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: There's a lot of bounce. Why is there's in your
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: in your hand? Why is yours not held like the
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: men in Central Parks? It's got a lot of swing
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: to it, like an elephant trunk. Well, listen, I should
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: get older. There's even more swing and sway to it.
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: Guesham balls familiar worth it. Oh yeah, it's not your balls, Rob,
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: it's the actual trunk. If you see, I've studied five
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: episodes of the show. There should be a separate podcast
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: on the hog a tempeg beans, the fiddle battle, the
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: wham Bam boom ten hog joke. Said one thought, all right, listen,
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: what's the anaconda joke Donald Um. Someone says that Judy
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: who says, is that the one? Someone says I went
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: to see anaconda? And and then someone I think it's Carlos, says,
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: is that the one with the giant snake? And he
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: pops up and goes no. And he pops up and
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: says what Rob go no, this is the one with
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: the giant snake. I went back there for an hour
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: for a setup. My back is killing me, but I
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: nailed it. It's about commitment, which is just th lines
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: from the show all the rest of the podcast. Remember
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: all your lines, I remember, remember them all. By the way,
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: if you ever wonder what it's like to have an
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: erection in that last nine hours, asked me in twenty minutes.
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: Though these are all bills, all come from the mind
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: of Bill Sir, all the comedy. So I'm gonna I'm
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: gonna be semi trying to keep us on the episode
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: a little bit. So. Then we cut to a series
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: of people who say that you lie robbed the character
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: Todd has lied about having sex with them. And the
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: first two are Sarah, I've been on the show before, Renee.
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: Who's Sarah standing? You remember that she was a bartender
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: at a wedding was it Donald? Where she serves him
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: a drink? And then the next is Katia, who was
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: Judy's standing and says, god no, and then another woman
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: says are you kidding me? And then we cut to Gloria.
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: She goes, is that the big, tall black security guard
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: with the hook hand? Yes? They go no, Well, then no,
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: I have not seen with him, which means that, which
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: which means that not only is phill it means not
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: only is Glorious sleeping with Leonard, but she hasn't learned
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: his name yet. Do you guys want to know? By
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: the way, I'll tell you something that is interesting because
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: I heard you guys ro it in the show. So
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: it could be argued that some of the Todd's jokes
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: across the line into inappropriateness and uh and by the way,
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: I'm going to throw out big words and being Fancy's anachronistic.
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: I think back in the day, you know shows would
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: have you know, jokes like that dropped all the time,
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: even on six and seven o'clock syndicate shows. It was
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: just you know, part of the lexicon and gags. But
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: you guys started to talk about I think this is
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: the episode that it becomes fairly clear that Todd maybe
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: was overstating, you know, in a turn in a way
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: of overcompensating, and he is kind of attracted to all
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: hotness in any gender. And uh and I can try,
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: but I can tell you the way writers Jon's evolved,
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: it's because people go as much fun as it is
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: for the men and women in this writers room to
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: obsess about writing these jokes. I did not write in Urendo,
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: but I remember whoever it did was proud of it
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: for a month, you know. Indo, I think in Urendo
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: is probably the best one of all of them. But
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: the point being, um that this is where we decided
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: that Todd should be an equal opportunity offender. He shouldn't
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: be obsessed with all hotness. It should obviously be indictative
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: of the overcompensating that young you know, kind of alpha
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: male jockey surgeon males do. And we kind of adopted
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: one of the reasons that Todd exists in the first place.
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: You guys talked about that air hammock is as we
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: were showing the women of this show scantily clad in
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: brawls and nightgowns. Including my wife. We said we have
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: to always match that the two or just male nudity,
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: and you gave it was our guy. By the way,
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: nobody wants to see it now A little long no
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: no no no no no no, A little freight around
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: the edges now and it met that just be there.
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: Let's now, so I gotta say, funny, a funny bid?
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: Here is that? Uh so Bill's trainer? Uh yes, here again.
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: Jurgen DeMay, he wrote wrote that book that that the
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: Todd is reading called The Action Hero Body, which I'm
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: sure you can buy, we'll give you're gonna plug ye,
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: And that's actually Jurgen uh in the photos that Rob
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: is looking at for no reason. Okay, can I ask
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: a question ahead, Donal. Did y'all laugh when Neil does
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: the face while he's spying on j D and the
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: Big Guy like that? If you watch the end credits
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: for this show, like just the end credits alone, you
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: will laugh so hard because Neil Flynn has the perfect
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: sitcom face. You know when the name bounces under, you
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: know when it's under. So it would be like Donald
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: Faison and I'll be like at my locker and then
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: I'll look at you and be like, yeah, yeah, he
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: has the perfect when he sees you rubbing the oil
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: on the guy's pectorals, yeah, and he pops up. Just
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: look at that. For those of you who watched the
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: show with us, rewind, go back to the credits and
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: just look at it. And then I laughed, So I'll
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: understand that moment though. So the janitor, they're they're gossiping
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: about whether the todd is gay. The janitor, Pipes said,
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: the janitor assumes talking about me. That was absolutely yes.
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: And of all the things you and your writers came
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: up with, is that I am painting oil on muscular
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: man so you can eat it off from later. Yes.
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: And then I say that actor was a football player
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: from usc was he He was in very good ship.
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: He was ready, he was He became a broadcaster, a
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: good color for a little while for a local fox,
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: killing you and I don't know what happened, but he was.
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: He was an aspiring television journalist. Well that's the body
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: I have in my mind, Johnny, that's the one I
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: have in my mind now. I laughed out loud. When
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: Sarah and Elliott says her brother Barry used to dance
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: and leather jeans for sorry, sorry, he used to dance
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: for Japanese business man. Yes, And then there's a couple
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: of sentences and then she says, sort of wistfully, Barry
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: used to dance and leather jeans. He'd come home and
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: they'd be stuffed with Yeny had a good brother, Barry,
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: which I love because of her. You know, her parents
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: were so conservative. Yeah we have been. We didn't get you, guys.
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: Such a sad thing that, uh, that great actress played
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: Sarah's mother passed away. Yeah. I used to love her
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: on Nike where I grew up with Nike. It as
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: a favorite show, and uh, that was one of the
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: ones I used to watch regularly. And she was like
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: all the people who respond to because you guys are
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: talking to Cole. Isn't it fun when you think of
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: guest stars that show up on the show are just game,
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: you know what I mean? And she was someone that
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: just showed up and you know, I was like, you're
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: the worst mother in the world. You say, short, thanksgiver
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: pad face, and you should just be awful and not
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: have a sympathetic phone in your body. And she was like, gotcha,
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: and she was just awesome. Um, hey, there's another guest here.
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: Should I close my eyes? Wait? No, the guest guests
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: too is having technical problems and no they're ready to go.
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: Hold on, let me guess this one is out. Yeah, Donald,
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: you think I'm not like im managing the problems. I
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: don't want the audience to know about our technical issues.
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: Um so then we steal this podcast earlier. You can
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: come on to my other podcasts if you want to
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: talk to you good and movie it has less technical
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: problems in this one. Oh my god, let me Randall
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: Randall Winston. Randall Winston, our line producer. Making out with
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: Gloria was very funny. Yeah, by the way, one of
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: the cool things that you guys should point out. And
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: I'll go back with a little tribute question for John
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: and Donald and Rob if they remember so. Um, if
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: you're a crew member on one of our shows and
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: we all can't family and friends, I'm sure you guys
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: still talk to and see some of those the gang
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: around town. Um got talked to a lot of them
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: more than most shows. They appear in our show and
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: have huge funny moments. Katy were this one, you guys
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: remember all? I mean remember all the different whether it
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: was Sean or Ethan. We talk about it. Yeah, we
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: talked about going on the podcast Bill. You should tune in.
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: It's a good part. Unt. I didn't say that though
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: I could buy the way I can hit them. Do
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: you want me to hit the button that allows along
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: the internet, don't. I think I just did it down
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: the face. I just didn't jam the reaction. God, let
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: me let me call everybody. Calm down, calm down. So sorry,
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: letter letter, I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. I was
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: so unintentional. I wanted to say special guests, and I
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: forgot Donald Donald. I'm surprised. Let a lumber in. Yeah,
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: y'all better catch me while you can. Ridiculous. You know
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: you can't trust all people. With this electronic check, you
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: can catch all you want. Yeah, it was so beautiful.
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: It is so good to see you, and it's good
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: to see all of you guys too. As much as
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: I could hear, it was horrible. I'm like, I'm in
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: a nightmare. Oh I was watching. We had this in
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: a chat. I'm not doing. Oh, we're so glad to
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: see you a Loma. We've been on the podcast. A
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: Woman's so good to see your fair boy on your podcat. Yea. Literally,
- 1:11:22Speaker 1: the only reason I say was I wanted to apologize
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: in front of God everyone for killing you when I
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: thought they were done to see you. Yeah, it was
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: Zach by the way out of Love. I'm gonna let
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: Zach tell this story because I so ruined the surprise
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: by accident. Zach, It's one of my favorite stories. You
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: have to you have to tell it. It involves a car.
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: Oh I watched. I knew that Alma was gonna die
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: in an episode because Bill thought that the show was
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: coming to an end um and he thought, well, we
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: gotta go out. Was something dramatic, like Nurse Roberts is
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: one of the most beloved characters. Let's we gotta you know,
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: that's what you do. Show's ending. We gotta kill somebody else.
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: So I pulled in in the driveway in the parking
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: lot of the hospital and I see a Looma in
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: this brand new, beautiful like escalade and I'm like, I'm
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: I because I because I was close to like to Bill,
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: and I knew inside scoop, I knew this episode was coming.
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: And Aloma is like meet me, and I'm like, oh no,
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: oh no. So then so then Bill kills off alone.
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I'm like, no, why you might want to
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: tell Alma because she just got an escalade. Yeah, that
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: would have been real nice. And then I would still
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: be driving the Santa Fe if I'd known that, you know,
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: just say well then, but Loma, it is a testament
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: to build that. When the show got it got picked
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: up again, he went, oh shit, I feel bad. I
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: gotta bring a Loma back to life. I go, I go,
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: how the fuck are you gonna bring a Homa back
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: to life? He goes, She's gonna have a twin sister,
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: and oh, I'm cut up. Oh my god, the truth
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: comes out. I thought this was Bill's brilliant idea, all right,
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: I was. I felt so bad because I wanted you
- 1:13:40Speaker 1: there at the very end, you know. And uh uh
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: that was when the show was supposed to end all
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: that stuff, and uh like, no, I go ahead and
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: do one more season. I'm right back, yeah, and I'm yeah,
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: and I'm like this. But the part was the network going, hey,
- 1:14:02Speaker 1: who's this new nurse? Truly? Uh, you know, like when
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: they started seeing when they started seeing dailies, they're like,
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: did that character die? Right? It's all good? Yeah? Yeah,
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: when I walked in my dressing room and Bill came in.
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: I was like, oh no, this can't be good nothing.
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: And I'm like, yeah, yeah, no, they don't show up
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: in my dressing room. Okay. Ever, my ass was going die.
- 1:14:37Speaker 1: I knew. Do you know what my my absolute favorite
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: thing is. It's a different episode, but I've watched it
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: a hundred times along it and you and Judy over
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: the years were so good together. And she is doing
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: her goodbye to you, you know, and your brand dad
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: and the phone plug, and she wants to say goodbye
- 1:14:59Speaker 1: before you go, and she's given this amazing speech. And
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: in a couple of the dailies, I could see you
- 1:15:05Speaker 1: getting emotional and crying. Lawyer, Yeah, man, I remember, and
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: I touched my heart so much, you know what I mean,
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: and made me I'm not only about the show about
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: YouTube and how special that it was nice when people
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: talk about really emotional moments in the show. You know,
- 1:15:20Speaker 1: obviously this was an episode, and of course the Brendan
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: Frasier episode, but they so often talk about that episode
- 1:15:27Speaker 1: of Loma with the connection that you and Judy had
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: and how how beautiful your performances were together. Then you
- 1:15:35Speaker 1: got to talk off John to see in that episode. Yeah,
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: it kills one of my favorite as well. I must
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: say it was awesome. We couldn't on the top, but
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: I don't think it would have been as emotional for people.
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: But Ianway's been funny. If you had his twin brother
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: come back and he's like the most respectful person. I'm hey, Alma,
- 1:15:53Speaker 1: because we haven't had you on and we've had these
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: other guys on. Do you remember your audition story or
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: how you came about getting the landing the Rule of
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: Nurse Roberts. I remember the audition. It's one of my
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: favorite stories. How I went in because this was a
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: four line role and I go into this audition. I'm
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: totally unimpressed and I'm like, okay, let me get in
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: here and say these four line go and get the
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: hell out of here, falling out of the chair, laughing
- 1:16:24Speaker 1: and shit. And then I'm like, what is his problem?
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: And then the casting director said he told me later,
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: he said, boys, she better get this partner. She's gonna
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: kill me. And then I go home. I you know,
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: my agent says, oh you got the part, and I
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: was like, oh, that's great. And then she calls me
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: and says, they want you to do a table read.
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: I said for four lines, and she said yeah. So
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: I was like, all right, all right, So she gives
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: me the address. It's up in some deals somewhere. I
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: have a raggedy Jaguar. She always liked nice carars, and
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: it's got bad breaks that I'm trying to get to
- 1:17:03Speaker 1: Bill's house and I'm like, what the hell. I get
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: up there and all you guys know each other. The
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: only person I halfway know is Donald. Yeah, because we
- 1:17:13Speaker 1: did trimping together. Not one scene together, not one scene.
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: That's what I'm saying. Halfway new him, you know. And
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: I'm like, why, you know, having a great time, you're
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: all getting, you know, off having I'm like, I'm ready
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: to go. So wait. I'm sitting here reading the script
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: and I get ready to say the first two lines,
- 1:17:34Speaker 1: and some girl over there says them, and I'm like,
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: oh lord, I move up here for two lines. I
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: couldn't believe it. I was floored. So I get in
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: my car and I'm like, I have two lines in
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: this series? Two lines, Carol, Can you believe it? I
- 1:17:50Speaker 1: had four? Okay, fast forward, I'm doing an interview and
- 1:17:54Speaker 1: the and the person interviews me says, um, I heard you,
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: Um did the pilot Force Scrubs And I said, oh yeah.
- 1:18:04Speaker 1: She said it got picked up, and I said, wouldn't
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: it be funny if they picked me up with that show? Well,
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: it turned out to be the best job I have
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: ever had. I was like, God, so Bill, thank you
- 1:18:23Speaker 1: from my retirement. It's fabulous because I'll tell you why.
- 1:18:31Speaker 1: I can tell you exactly why you have to go
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: to that table reading our heads. Everyone here will tell
- 1:18:37Speaker 1: you what it means to be a home run here
- 1:18:39Speaker 1: and this weird thing of table reads for networks, which
- 1:18:44Speaker 1: we have to do to get that show picked up.
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: In the first couple of episodes is one person coming
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: in and just body slamming a scene with one line
- 1:18:54Speaker 1: can literally change the vibe when you you guys all leave,
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: and that when people go, oh that sucks. Oh that
- 1:19:00Speaker 1: was great. And I don't know if you remember, but
- 1:19:02Speaker 1: everybody at the network level thought that one of the
- 1:19:06Speaker 1: core lines of the pilot was can you just pronounce
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: him dead so I can go home? Don't expect it
- 1:19:17Speaker 1: to be poignant and funny at the same time, because
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: it also said what the difference was between the dude
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: on the first day and the woman that had been
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: there for a couple of years, you know what I mean,
- 1:19:26Speaker 1: And it was a huge kind of building block in
- 1:19:29Speaker 1: the show. I'm so grateful you stayed around and he
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: didn't get so pissed that he just refused to come
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: back truly and alone back the sheet. She gotta work now,
- 1:19:43Speaker 1: you don't know alone You're You're so funny and we've
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: been watching the show for five seasons now, and you
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: would make Donald and I laugh so much. We just
- 1:20:03Speaker 1: crack cup. You are so funny on this show. Yeah, well,
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: you two were scandalous on the show. I'll never forget
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: the time that you mooned Sarah and I was next
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: to her. Sorry by the way, speaking of party, Speaking
- 1:20:20Speaker 1: of which, Rob, Rob has a hilarious picture, Rob, can
- 1:20:23Speaker 1: you hold it up? Or is that just digitally? But
- 1:20:25Speaker 1: it was. It's a picture of of both Alma and
- 1:20:30Speaker 1: Judy looking at you and your banana hammock banana hammockue.
- 1:20:35Speaker 1: I never saw such hungry looks in their eyes. Yea,
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: holding up? No, hold it up? Put it in focus, Rob,
- 1:20:48Speaker 1: looking at the eyes and look at what they're looking at.
- 1:20:51Speaker 1: It's hard. I never saw two women so hungry in
- 1:21:00Speaker 1: my life. Anybody ever asks you what being actors like,
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: you just show them that picture. Let's just get right there.
- 1:21:06Speaker 1: I just take it down to the banana hammock and
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: let the magic Happensten No, I mean, I don't know
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: about you guys. I know, Rob, you've been very, very
- 1:21:16Speaker 1: very nude on the show. dB you have, Johnny, I
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: know I have. It was something that we kind of
- 1:21:23Speaker 1: as the men on the show, we kind of had
- 1:21:25Speaker 1: to do it, though you spoke about it earlier, Bill,
- 1:21:28Speaker 1: But it was like we got really, we got really
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: really nude, Like I got all the way because I
- 1:21:34Speaker 1: think a whole forever and on shows, but it's so
- 1:21:37Speaker 1: far for a movie or whatever, and women go down
- 1:21:40Speaker 1: to underwear night gowns and ship and the dudes don't
- 1:21:42Speaker 1: do jack And so we knew we were being inappropriate
- 1:21:46Speaker 1: a lot of ways. So we thought, when I'm watching
- 1:21:48Speaker 1: back now, I when I'm watching back now, I'm walking
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: into Rob's body and Johnny's body, and I'm just like,
- 1:21:54Speaker 1: oh my goodness, dude, do some fucking push ups? Like what? Yeah, Well, Johnny,
- 1:22:01Speaker 1: Johnny set the bar, you guys, Come on, yeah, Johnny,
- 1:22:03Speaker 1: do I remember I remember lunch time and Johnny would
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: just get fuel. He didn't get lunch, he just got fuel,
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: That's what he would say. We had him down the
- 1:22:12Speaker 1: basement there was that we could go lift down and
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: the more dude, you put him exercise bike into your
- 1:22:19Speaker 1: dressing room and would literally read your script and do
- 1:22:22Speaker 1: exercise for hours, giving all those rewrites. So I had
- 1:22:25Speaker 1: to I had to figure out a way to learn.
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: I am. So I'm still out there, by the way,
- 1:22:31Speaker 1: and even everything in the last second. If that makes
- 1:22:33Speaker 1: you guys happy as a group of tents, really all
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: you do that too, Jason and I both kind of
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: It's true. Johnny, you remember getting scripts when when when
- 1:22:47Speaker 1: when they weren't done yet, and you'd be like, um,
- 1:22:50Speaker 1: why are we um standing on the table and he'd
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: be like, oh, oh, oh yeah, yeah, you guys, um
- 1:22:56Speaker 1: we're still writing that. But there's a reason you guys
- 1:22:58Speaker 1: end up on the table later. Let Johnny Goad. Johnny Goad.
- 1:23:07Speaker 1: Dressing rooms were all up on the fourth floor, as
- 1:23:09Speaker 1: well as administrative at the hospital. Whenever I say a hospital,
- 1:23:13Speaker 1: people think I'm being all method. We shot in a
- 1:23:15Speaker 1: defunct hospital and dressing rooms were up on the fourth floor,
- 1:23:20Speaker 1: Baku and Wardrobes, and Billy would do these rewrites. I'd
- 1:23:25Speaker 1: memorize whatever he sent here on Sunday and Sunday night
- 1:23:28Speaker 1: and Sunday morning, and then I'd get to the hospital
- 1:23:32Speaker 1: on Monday, and the poor ads and second and thirds
- 1:23:36Speaker 1: they wouldn't knock on my door anymore. I'd just see
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: them slide the pages under the door. They didn't want
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: to incur my wrath. I want to share with you
- 1:23:48Speaker 1: one quick memory about Johnny C if I can. Yes.
- 1:23:50Speaker 1: It was season nine, one of if not the last
- 1:23:54Speaker 1: days of the series, and he had a page long
- 1:23:58Speaker 1: monologue and I was in the scene and he nailed
- 1:24:01Speaker 1: it in one take. And I couldn't believe after nine
- 1:24:04Speaker 1: years he was working this hard and doing this well.
- 1:24:07Speaker 1: And they shot it one more time just in case.
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: But I just will never forget the work a hook
- 1:24:11Speaker 1: of John C McGinley, and I just want to share
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: that with you guys right now. Yeah, Billy's rewrites that
- 1:24:19Speaker 1: you memorize the first and second and third draft and
- 1:24:22Speaker 1: then god damn at the fifth draft is really freaking good. Bill.
- 1:24:28Speaker 1: Would you ever be nervous to go tell Johnny like, Hey, um,
- 1:24:32Speaker 1: I know you memorized every nervous it sucked if it
- 1:24:37Speaker 1: was exponentially better, even though he'd get mad and he'd
- 1:24:39Speaker 1: read it, and he'd always be like, it's better. I'm sorry,
- 1:24:47Speaker 1: I gonna go back downstairs and dude, bye bell brother.
- 1:24:56Speaker 1: All right, listen, we have a question here. Yeah, let's
- 1:24:59Speaker 1: say question here. John c McGinley speaks often of living
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: life with gratitude. Yes, this is from Eric Weiss. How
- 1:25:10Speaker 1: could each of your characters incorporate that philosophy philosophy into
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: this episode? Um, how could each of our characters? Well,
- 1:25:22Speaker 1: I wanted to say on a serious note, you know,
- 1:25:24Speaker 1: this episode is about missing clues. I mean, we all,
- 1:25:29Speaker 1: you know, I have people in our lives that we
- 1:25:31Speaker 1: assume are fine and aren't. And I think that m
- 1:25:36Speaker 1: j D really struggles with the fact that he found
- 1:25:39Speaker 1: this woman annoying. Uh you know, she had been suicidal before,
- 1:25:43Speaker 1: I believe, and he's just like, uh, you know, both
- 1:25:46Speaker 1: Cox and and and and JD are just want to
- 1:25:49Speaker 1: get away from her. And I think there's a there's
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: a really serious conversation about missing clues with the people
- 1:25:57Speaker 1: we love in our lives and um and and not
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: checking in on our on our people, and of course
- 1:26:05Speaker 1: in terms of gratitude, being grateful and being filled with
- 1:26:11Speaker 1: gratitude when you are feeling mentally healthy and not and
- 1:26:15Speaker 1: thank God that you don't have a mental health problem
- 1:26:19Speaker 1: that would that would make you consider taking your life.
- 1:26:22Speaker 1: You know, my daughter wakes up every morning, she's twenty
- 1:26:27Speaker 1: two now, right, and I go and I say to
- 1:26:30Speaker 1: her when I see her in the morning, hey, how
- 1:26:33Speaker 1: are you doing? And she always goes, I'm alive, dad,
- 1:26:37Speaker 1: And you know what I mean, and that is I
- 1:26:41Speaker 1: am so grateful that she understands the moment that she's
- 1:26:46Speaker 1: in right now, and that she's living at this young
- 1:26:50Speaker 1: age and understands that tomorrow isn't promised. So I gotta
- 1:26:53Speaker 1: go get it today and I gotta go live it
- 1:26:55Speaker 1: today and go make it happen today. I'm so grateful
- 1:26:59Speaker 1: for that. I'm gratefu for her mother and putting that
- 1:27:01Speaker 1: in her and I'm grateful that, you know, I get
- 1:27:04Speaker 1: to witness it. And so living with gratitude, I am
- 1:27:07Speaker 1: so grateful for my children and my wife. I totally
- 1:27:12Speaker 1: get it, man, I totally understand m that just that,
- 1:27:17Speaker 1: just that quote living with gratitude, I'm so grateful for
- 1:27:21Speaker 1: you guys. I'm so Alma, I'm so grateful to see
- 1:27:23Speaker 1: you right now. Like I mean, it could be the
- 1:27:25Speaker 1: weed wearing off. I don't know what it is, but
- 1:27:26Speaker 1: I just like I told you not to get high.
- 1:27:28Speaker 1: What's wrong with you? I smoked a little bit like
- 1:27:31Speaker 1: you promised to show my badum Aluma with a question
- 1:27:36Speaker 1: for Alma, go ahead, um now, Alma. A lot of
- 1:27:39Speaker 1: times on the show, they referenced all the hygiens that
- 1:27:42Speaker 1: happened at Nurse Robert's above ground pool party. Do you
- 1:27:45Speaker 1: remember this at all? No, I don't remember the above
- 1:27:50Speaker 1: ground pool parties because my pool was in ground as
- 1:27:55Speaker 1: well as Jagoozy, so clearly I put that out in
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: my mind. I'll go into those parties. Well, yeah, the
- 1:28:06Speaker 1: above brown pool party was actually something that was I
- 1:28:09Speaker 1: think it's mentioned in season one or two. Uh, and
- 1:28:13Speaker 1: there were a lot of them. There were a lot
- 1:28:15Speaker 1: of references to like and we never go there. There's
- 1:28:18Speaker 1: never a scene there, like there was a fight. There
- 1:28:21Speaker 1: was a fight one time where Johnny chokes out where
- 1:28:25Speaker 1: where Cox chokes out, uh ted the lawyer like apparently
- 1:28:31Speaker 1: apparently a lot of fans are on the on the
- 1:28:33Speaker 1: on the chatter asking what does Aluma think may have
- 1:28:36Speaker 1: gone down at those above ground pool parties? And I
- 1:28:38Speaker 1: just wanted if you, yeah, she would only be thinking
- 1:28:41Speaker 1: about it, because clearly you guys talked about it. I
- 1:28:45Speaker 1: probably never had a line about it, so I'm like, yeah,
- 1:28:50Speaker 1: And also I only read my scenes, so I don't
- 1:28:57Speaker 1: know what's going on. That's hilarious. Um okay, well put
- 1:29:05Speaker 1: that question up. What was the scariest something about stunts? From?
- 1:29:08Speaker 1: Put that one up? All had to do on scrubs.
- 1:29:12Speaker 1: I told you LLL watched the show cool Jo. Okay,
- 1:29:19Speaker 1: from LLL cool J. What were the scariest stunts? That's
- 1:29:22Speaker 1: not in my mind, Donald, it's um um, So what
- 1:29:29Speaker 1: were the scariest stunts? Um? Rob. I imagine for you
- 1:29:32Speaker 1: it might have been that bungee jumping through your underwear. Yeah,
- 1:29:36Speaker 1: the four story atomic wedger was the scariest because I
- 1:29:38Speaker 1: was hanging from the roof and then they dropped me
- 1:29:42Speaker 1: and I had a harness around my like upper inner
- 1:29:45Speaker 1: thigh and it like it was it hurt. By the
- 1:29:48Speaker 1: way you guys talked about why was I wearing a
- 1:29:50Speaker 1: bespeckled banana hammock in that scene? A couple of weeks
- 1:29:53Speaker 1: ago on your podcast, and the reason was if they
- 1:29:55Speaker 1: made a speedo to cover the harness. And it was
- 1:29:59Speaker 1: not quite that my go to banana hammock, I see,
- 1:30:03Speaker 1: but it was really big and thick because there was
- 1:30:04Speaker 1: a harness and I was strapped in it. It left
- 1:30:07Speaker 1: the bruise. Yelled that commitment. You yelled like it did too.
- 1:30:12Speaker 1: It hurt, It hurt, but it hurt in a good way.
- 1:30:14Speaker 1: Mine was being mine was being on mine was being
- 1:30:18Speaker 1: on fire in that in that scene where episode I directed, actually,
- 1:30:24Speaker 1: um Jad catches on fire and I didn't do the
- 1:30:29Speaker 1: full burn. We switched to a stuntman who did a
- 1:30:31Speaker 1: full body burn. Um but I had to have my
- 1:30:36Speaker 1: back catch on fire and they put me in a
- 1:30:40Speaker 1: suit and they covered my hair with the anti flame
- 1:30:42Speaker 1: stuff and they gave me this like pep talk and everything.
- 1:30:45Speaker 1: But I was legitimately on fire, which I couldn't believe
- 1:30:49Speaker 1: they were letting me do, but they did. And I
- 1:30:53Speaker 1: definitely remember that that being the scariest thing. Don't you
- 1:30:56Speaker 1: had to put me out? Do you remember that? But
- 1:30:58Speaker 1: I don't know if that was really you. That's the thing, like,
- 1:31:01Speaker 1: I don't know if that was a switch I don't
- 1:31:02Speaker 1: know a cowboy switch. So what happens is I, Well,
- 1:31:08Speaker 1: that was a different part when I popped up smoking,
- 1:31:10Speaker 1: But when I first ran into the bathroom, I was
- 1:31:13Speaker 1: legitimately on fire on my back. And then Denny had
- 1:31:17Speaker 1: the guy come out and he was fully on fire,
- 1:31:19Speaker 1: like no, no effects were at it. He was. It
- 1:31:21Speaker 1: wasn't fucking insane. And then he went down and you
- 1:31:24Speaker 1: and another stunt man off the camera put him all out.
- 1:31:26Speaker 1: And then I popped up smoldering, and I'm like, whoa,
- 1:31:28Speaker 1: that was a doozy or something. I do remember. I
- 1:31:32Speaker 1: do remember. I remember this, the stunt man saying to me,
- 1:31:36Speaker 1: when he goes down, you gotta put him out. Donald,
- 1:31:38Speaker 1: I do remember that. Donald. Do you remember your scariest stunt?
- 1:31:41Speaker 1: Did you have any super scary stunts? No? I don't
- 1:31:44Speaker 1: think did a lot of scary stunts? No, not on this,
- 1:31:47Speaker 1: not on this one. At least it wasn't scary for me. Oh,
- 1:31:51Speaker 1: I see, because you're so darn manly. I wanted to
- 1:31:53Speaker 1: talk about your chiropractic adjustment from the janitor, which is hilarious. Wait,
- 1:31:59Speaker 1: so this is what happens Elliott and Carla. I feel
- 1:32:03Speaker 1: like they need to nurture relationships in the hospital. And
- 1:32:09Speaker 1: so now now that Todd is no longer this you know, uh,
- 1:32:13Speaker 1: he's no longer the straight sexual harassmer, They're like, well,
- 1:32:15Speaker 1: he could be our new gay best friend. Yes, they're
- 1:32:18Speaker 1: excited to have a gay best They're they're very excited
- 1:32:20Speaker 1: to hang out with Todd as a as a gay
- 1:32:22Speaker 1: man because they they're excited to have a gay best friend. Right,
- 1:32:25Speaker 1: But this, this happened before in some way where the
- 1:32:30Speaker 1: janitor had dreams of being a chiropractor, and the girls,
- 1:32:35Speaker 1: wanting to nurture that relationship, somehow convinced Turk to play
- 1:32:42Speaker 1: guinea pig for the janitor's adjustments. Right, and Turk gets
- 1:32:47Speaker 1: his neck almost broke, and it's hilarious. Dude, Donald, I
- 1:32:51Speaker 1: don't know what it is about you screaming in a
- 1:32:53Speaker 1: high pitched voice. It started, we all know it began,
- 1:32:56Speaker 1: and clueless, but I didn't screaming a high pitched voice
- 1:32:58Speaker 1: and clueless. Okayluss I scream in a low Okay, well, okay,
- 1:33:02Speaker 1: I take it back. Then there is something about you
- 1:33:05Speaker 1: screaming in a high pitched voice that makes me crack
- 1:33:07Speaker 1: up every single time. And the way that that John
- 1:33:10Speaker 1: Michelle shot there where you turned to the way you
- 1:33:13Speaker 1: turned the camera and the sound effect and then you
- 1:33:15Speaker 1: scream that was fucking hilarious. But then sells it. He
- 1:33:20Speaker 1: does a dead sailor drop and then dead sailor drop
- 1:33:26Speaker 1: is when you drop like a plank. Yeah, Johnny, you
- 1:33:28Speaker 1: always fall like that in the show. It's my favorite.
- 1:33:33Speaker 1: And Donald does a dead sailor drop and Zachie, you
- 1:33:36Speaker 1: did it perfect out of the bath when you're in
- 1:33:38Speaker 1: the ice you get and that was a big fall
- 1:33:44Speaker 1: dead sailor drop scene. Yeah. Um, okay, so that that
- 1:33:50Speaker 1: was amazing. Now Todd, um, the Todd is so confused. Okay,
- 1:33:56Speaker 1: he says he's dead in his gay on and um,
- 1:33:59Speaker 1: but it's I don't think he's confused. Well what do
- 1:34:03Speaker 1: you think, Rob? I mean, it's funny to talk about
- 1:34:05Speaker 1: this seriously, but like, okay, so you mostly were heterosexual
- 1:34:11Speaker 1: and then the women sort of talk to you because
- 1:34:13Speaker 1: they think you're gay, and then you came out of
- 1:34:15Speaker 1: that meaning like maybe I am fluid whatever queer and
- 1:34:21Speaker 1: you just really embrace it. I say, hey, hey, mick head,
- 1:34:26Speaker 1: is that package for me? You know what is? And
- 1:34:30Speaker 1: then I say to do hey, buddy, we should totally
- 1:34:32Speaker 1: have SEXI maybe totally ruined it, fou. And then you go,
- 1:34:37Speaker 1: you were really you said as someone else, you were
- 1:34:39Speaker 1: really impressive. Though, the young handsome guy comes up to
- 1:34:42Speaker 1: you and goes, hey, um, you were really hute. You
- 1:34:45Speaker 1: were you were really impressive in surgery and do you
- 1:34:49Speaker 1: know the line? You want me to say it? And
- 1:34:50Speaker 1: I go, hey, thanks, And you were really impressive in
- 1:34:52Speaker 1: the shower this morning, you know, dong was to this day.
- 1:34:59Speaker 1: That's my most requested joke. That's on cameo. Really, Oh,
- 1:35:02Speaker 1: that's it. Don give me You're impressive. Hey, happy birthday.
- 1:35:06Speaker 1: I'm really impressed with you. You're really impressive in the shower.
- 1:35:08Speaker 1: You know, don watch. We should mention that you're on cameo,
- 1:35:13Speaker 1: Johnny c Are you on cameo? Yeah? Sure, so there
- 1:35:16Speaker 1: you guys go alone. Are you on cameo? No? I
- 1:35:19Speaker 1: don't know what that is. I told you, Okay, well
- 1:35:22Speaker 1: we're gonna get you. No, but we're gonna get you
- 1:35:25Speaker 1: on cameo because it's a it's a fun it's a
- 1:35:27Speaker 1: fun thing. And uh and and if you're listening, if
- 1:35:30Speaker 1: you're viewing, you can get both. Johnny Sea, you can
- 1:35:33Speaker 1: send messages to your friends from from Johnny or Rob.
- 1:35:37Speaker 1: I'm sure Rob has to say don jokes. How many
- 1:35:40Speaker 1: times a day do you have to say? Don? All
- 1:35:42Speaker 1: my cameos are in character or in varying degrees of characters.
- 1:35:46Speaker 1: So it's just, you know, but Jingo's boobs and hogs
- 1:35:51Speaker 1: bone organ suction. Let's play John Madden football on her xbox.
- 1:35:56Speaker 1: Just keep going, I do like two to three, and
- 1:36:00Speaker 1: it's of all, you know, it's pure sexual innuendo. Indo
- 1:36:07Speaker 1: keep ALONGA keeps saying how old she is? But I
- 1:36:09Speaker 1: swear I got haven't seen you so long? You look
- 1:36:11Speaker 1: exactly say than that's great? Um we um sorry one second,
- 1:36:23Speaker 1: I just wryed. The other Rob line that made me
- 1:36:24Speaker 1: laugh out loud was he turns to the girl, one
- 1:36:29Speaker 1: of the nurses, and he says, admit it, we joint
- 1:36:32Speaker 1: and she says I was sad because my dad ted,
- 1:36:35Speaker 1: and he goes, I wasn't you know we watched the
- 1:36:43Speaker 1: show the other night, Amanda and I and uh you know,
- 1:36:46Speaker 1: she said, still together? Oh yeah, we love We can't
- 1:36:50Speaker 1: keep wait you're still yeah? Man and I going strong.
- 1:36:54Speaker 1: Everything's great. Our dog is Max is right here walking
- 1:36:57Speaker 1: around what Donald's trying to say is we didn't know
- 1:36:59Speaker 1: if you were together not. But she we just watched
- 1:37:01Speaker 1: the episode where where I'm flirting with her at the
- 1:37:04Speaker 1: bowling bowling alley. Yeah right, I saw you guys watch it. Jesus, sorry,
- 1:37:08Speaker 1: guys are animals, Jesus. No, No, she's a very beautiful lady.
- 1:37:12Speaker 1: What are you gonna do? I don't blame you. I
- 1:37:14Speaker 1: don't blame you. But we watched the episode and then
- 1:37:16Speaker 1: the janner is like, what are you? Because I'm checking
- 1:37:18Speaker 1: out all the people and I'm like, I'm the Todd
- 1:37:21Speaker 1: And then it cuts to like Johnny C and like
- 1:37:23Speaker 1: losing three patients, and like she just said that was
- 1:37:26Speaker 1: so funny and now I'm crying. Yeah, that is it,
- 1:37:31Speaker 1: you know. And I didn't. I didn't get I didn't
- 1:37:33Speaker 1: really get emotional until the third dude, because that's the
- 1:37:37Speaker 1: one that hurt, you know what I mean, when the
- 1:37:39Speaker 1: guy with the with the kidney issue, when he goes
- 1:37:42Speaker 1: that's that's the one that hurts, you know, because because
- 1:37:45Speaker 1: he was friends with doctor Cox and and the other
- 1:37:49Speaker 1: two at least we knew. The writing tells us that
- 1:37:52Speaker 1: they could die at any moment, whereas Cox reveals, Um,
- 1:37:57Speaker 1: you know he he could have lived another month, right, Johnny.
- 1:37:59Speaker 1: But I think there's two interesting things there. One that
- 1:38:03Speaker 1: lands when we turn on to Judy and Duty's reaction
- 1:38:09Speaker 1: to Cox flipping things and flip it's like a light switch.
- 1:38:15Speaker 1: For me, it's the water work to just go because
- 1:38:17Speaker 1: it's off a Judy. To me, it's all about Judy.
- 1:38:20Speaker 1: And then the other thing that was really interesting there
- 1:38:23Speaker 1: was that we shot it a bunch of times and
- 1:38:26Speaker 1: the line was he wasn't about to die. Was in
- 1:38:28Speaker 1: neub he could have waited another month for a kidney,
- 1:38:32Speaker 1: and we shot it an you're done and Zachie, you
- 1:38:35Speaker 1: came over and I'll bastardize this. But the operative word
- 1:38:39Speaker 1: was he, not that he was going to die. The
- 1:38:43Speaker 1: die wasn't the operative word, it was that he. And
- 1:38:46Speaker 1: so I went over to John Michelle and you were right.
- 1:38:48Speaker 1: And I hadn't tracked that in my brain. And I
- 1:38:51Speaker 1: went over to the director, John Michelle, who was also
- 1:38:53Speaker 1: the editor on the show, and I said, can we
- 1:38:55Speaker 1: do one more? Because the operative words not die, it's
- 1:38:58Speaker 1: he that to distinguish this room, Yeah, And it was
- 1:39:03Speaker 1: a note that game, and it was genius. I gave
- 1:39:06Speaker 1: you a note you absolutely Oh god, I hope that
- 1:39:10Speaker 1: was appropriate. Now I wasn't directing the episode, it was
- 1:39:13Speaker 1: appropriate and take to take that's in the show. Wow, well,
- 1:39:18Speaker 1: I I You've done so much fabulous work on the show, Johnny,
- 1:39:22Speaker 1: but you your work at the end of this episode.
- 1:39:24Speaker 1: I'm sure there's so many doctor I'm sure there's so
- 1:39:26Speaker 1: many doctors and nurses and healthcare professionals that have been
- 1:39:29Speaker 1: in the position that that that you so beautifully articulate,
- 1:39:34Speaker 1: um with just wanting to fucking trash the room out
- 1:39:38Speaker 1: of frustration, and um I get goosebumps and tears in
- 1:39:42Speaker 1: my eyes every time I see it. And then you
- 1:39:46Speaker 1: turn around as you're leaving and I try and go
- 1:39:49Speaker 1: I'm like, where are you going? By the way, that
- 1:39:50Speaker 1: with the worst shifts not over? Yeah, and uh and
- 1:39:54Speaker 1: the tears in your eyes. It's just like You're like,
- 1:39:57Speaker 1: I'm out of here. And I know. We then go
- 1:39:59Speaker 1: into a a little bit of an arc of of
- 1:40:01Speaker 1: you not wanting to come back to work, which is
- 1:40:03Speaker 1: which we're about to start. Yeah, you get real depressed.
- 1:40:08Speaker 1: The character gets real depressed. Cox gets real depressed. Um.
- 1:40:12Speaker 1: I thought for some reason that when Brendan Fraser passed.
- 1:40:16Speaker 1: That was the that was the big one. But this
- 1:40:19Speaker 1: one that's coming up is a like you don't you
- 1:40:22Speaker 1: don't want to come back? And then we have the
- 1:40:23Speaker 1: big party for him, right, and they're welcome back. It
- 1:40:27Speaker 1: doesn't that happen? Welcome back cox Her. I don't know.
- 1:40:29Speaker 1: Is that it's about it's gonna happen? I don't know.
- 1:40:32Speaker 1: I wish I still had the T shirt though. Let's
- 1:40:34Speaker 1: take a break. We'll be right back after these fine words,
- 1:40:43Speaker 1: joel Um and Daniel, you can come back in for
- 1:40:46Speaker 1: a second. How's the chat or people enjoying the show?
- 1:40:49Speaker 1: People are loving it. It is insane in there. Hi,
- 1:40:52Speaker 1: everybody to keep your thoughtful questions and your love. I
- 1:40:56Speaker 1: love it. Yeah, and everybody has there been an answer
- 1:40:59Speaker 1: on which sound effect they like the most? Daniel, what's
- 1:41:02Speaker 1: what's happening with that pole? I bet you what you're
- 1:41:04Speaker 1: trying to get into. Well, we will have that poll
- 1:41:10Speaker 1: up shortly. But in the meantime everybody started saying high,
- 1:41:14Speaker 1: over and over all, right, and and we'll get back
- 1:41:19Speaker 1: to you shortly. Okay, put up the new poll because
- 1:41:21Speaker 1: we only have about ten minutes left, right, is that
- 1:41:25Speaker 1: one up yet, I think it should be. It should
- 1:41:28Speaker 1: be up. Shortly we were. We submitted, we submitted options
- 1:41:31Speaker 1: for the poll. A little while ago. I had some
- 1:41:33Speaker 1: good suggestions. Okay, here we go. Okay, okay, you're ready.
- 1:41:38Speaker 1: We're getting results. Any results come in? Oh we got
- 1:41:42Speaker 1: some results. Okay, let's see at the bottom of the table. Yeah,
- 1:41:46Speaker 1: tied for last place. Bomb noise and thunderous applause. Whoa
- 1:41:53Speaker 1: whose adults? How about that? We got about We're we're
- 1:42:00Speaker 1: about about three hundred. We just started, it just started. Okay, okay, okay,
- 1:42:05Speaker 1: second last. What you're trying to get into a dayo shoon? Okay.
- 1:42:10Speaker 1: Thought to be closer up in third place, Zach stopped
- 1:42:14Speaker 1: talking about your willies. Okay, go ahead, second place. We'll
- 1:42:18Speaker 1: shout out to me. You honor me? Yes, do you
- 1:42:22Speaker 1: hear this? The ship's broken, Dan Dane broke that shit
- 1:42:30Speaker 1: you broken? In the number one, Zach I love you. Yeah.
- 1:42:39Speaker 1: Most popular vote by a long shot, Donald, Johnny if
- 1:42:45Speaker 1: you and Alma If you don't know, that's Donald's wife
- 1:42:47Speaker 1: Casey saying Zach I love you, Zach, I love you.
- 1:42:50Speaker 1: Very popular sound effect. Um tell us what you're up to? Johnny?
- 1:42:57Speaker 1: I know that you're doing Brooklyn ninety nine. It makes
- 1:42:59Speaker 1: me jealous that they get to work with you. Tell
- 1:43:02Speaker 1: us how that's going. That's great. We shot it right
- 1:43:05Speaker 1: in the middle of COVID. It's uh. They have the
- 1:43:08Speaker 1: same arc as us. They got canceled. Uh and then
- 1:43:11Speaker 1: they got picked up like scrubs and yeah, they took
- 1:43:15Speaker 1: they got canceled, then COVID happened, so they took a
- 1:43:18Speaker 1: whole year off and then when they were back on,
- 1:43:21Speaker 1: they said, you want to come in a big arc
- 1:43:23Speaker 1: on this thing. It was fantastic, So it was it
- 1:43:26Speaker 1: was a great gig in the middle of COVID. Did
- 1:43:28Speaker 1: you get to work with Andre Brauer? Yeah, he was
- 1:43:31Speaker 1: a total hercules. I think he's such a fine, fine actor.
- 1:43:35Speaker 1: He walks on water. It's fantastic. Yeah. And um, Rob,
- 1:43:40Speaker 1: how's the real estate going? If you want to buy
- 1:43:42Speaker 1: a house in Santa Monica, Rob is the guy who
- 1:43:45Speaker 1: will sell it to you. Rob, What's what the heck
- 1:43:48Speaker 1: is going on with these prices? Though? Man? Like, last
- 1:43:53Speaker 1: year is now three million men, blame me Rob on that. God,
- 1:44:00Speaker 1: last year is now three million dollars because of COVID.
- 1:44:05Speaker 1: People want their own castle, so they can be away
- 1:44:08Speaker 1: from everybody else, And there's this mentality like my my
- 1:44:11Speaker 1: home is my is my sanctuary from the world we
- 1:44:14Speaker 1: live in. And there's a scarcity of inventory and interest
- 1:44:17Speaker 1: rates are down. And in the last twelve months, I've
- 1:44:20Speaker 1: sold like sixteen million dollars worth of real estate in
- 1:44:23Speaker 1: Santa Monica. So it's just fid for you. I just
- 1:44:26Speaker 1: did the math. I just did the math on twenty
- 1:44:28Speaker 1: percent of it. And that's where the big cameo mins
- 1:44:35Speaker 1: where the money is. And Alma, you made a joke
- 1:44:37Speaker 1: about being retired. I hope that's not true. Ye Did
- 1:44:41Speaker 1: I just see you on a show recently? Weren't you
- 1:44:43Speaker 1: doing a Disney show? Or and you guys just got
- 1:44:49Speaker 1: picked up. She was grooving for a while there. That
- 1:44:54Speaker 1: was great. He had a damn all right, Well she
- 1:44:58Speaker 1: went out with the bank. We'll never know. Hey, So
- 1:45:03Speaker 1: you know, I'm tired of this damn thing. So I'm
- 1:45:06Speaker 1: gonna say very quickly, I am collecting my retirement and
- 1:45:12Speaker 1: have been since oh nine. But I have not stopped working.
- 1:45:15Speaker 1: I am still working. I'm doing a show in Atlanta
- 1:45:19Speaker 1: called Young Dylan with a Little Kid was discovered on
- 1:45:22Speaker 1: The Ellen Show. Yeah, yeah, I play his grandmother. So
- 1:45:27Speaker 1: and it's for Tyler Perry and Nickelode. Are you living
- 1:45:30Speaker 1: in Atlanta right now? Are you living on the Are
- 1:45:32Speaker 1: you living on the Tyler Perry in the Tyler Perry Compound? No, no,
- 1:45:36Speaker 1: we did do the compound in December. You know, he
- 1:45:39Speaker 1: locked us all in and flew us on a private jet.
- 1:45:42Speaker 1: I was like, oh, yeah, this is I don't want
- 1:45:44Speaker 1: to get on the commercial, like no more now. Yeah,
- 1:45:48Speaker 1: but yeah we were locked in, but now no, we
- 1:45:52Speaker 1: go and you know, I have a house there, so
- 1:45:54Speaker 1: I go and stay in that house when i'm there.
- 1:45:56Speaker 1: And then I hope you never stopped working alone, because
- 1:46:00Speaker 1: I hope you never stopped working because you are a fine,
- 1:46:02Speaker 1: fine actress and you're hilarious and your drama work is
- 1:46:05Speaker 1: beautiful and you don't look like you've aged one hour
- 1:46:07Speaker 1: since we saw you. Ah, well, you're so kind. It
- 1:46:12Speaker 1: was good seeing a guys. I love you, Guys. I
- 1:46:17Speaker 1: would give you, but I'm but I'm my machine's broken.
- 1:46:21Speaker 1: Apparently thunder Aplause isn't liked either. No, that's just a
- 1:46:24Speaker 1: way the pole is gonna have new results. Rob. It
- 1:46:27Speaker 1: was great to see you. We love you. Um you guys,
- 1:46:30Speaker 1: go to cameo. If you want Rob to send a
- 1:46:33Speaker 1: message abouts dong to your friends. Great, Actually I might
- 1:46:39Speaker 1: do that for Christmas. Into banana hammock. Do you get
- 1:46:42Speaker 1: into banana hammock? No, that's extra. Yeah, that's like, could
- 1:46:48Speaker 1: you look up an old friend. I wouldn't say Dynamite.
