- 0:01Speaker 1: Broadcasting live across the world right now.
- 0:05Speaker 2: This is the John Jay and Rich radio program. Okay,
- 0:08Speaker 2: so this is the couple's podcast featuring Blake and John j.
- 0:13Speaker 2: Couple's podcasts on the radio station, but it's also going
- 0:16Speaker 2: to be on my podcast, the John Jay VanNess Podcast
- 0:19Speaker 2: and with us today, Blake, you and I are going
- 0:22Speaker 2: to interview our son Kemp and his girlfriend Catherine. Okay,
- 0:26Speaker 2: so I asked. I went on the social media and
- 0:31Speaker 2: asked people to ask questions of you guys. But first
- 0:35Speaker 2: I thought we would just see if there's anything organic
- 0:37Speaker 2: that we want to come up with, if you, Blake,
- 0:39Speaker 2: you have questions for them, or if you guys have
- 0:41Speaker 2: questions for us, because you guys are at the beginning
- 0:44Speaker 2: of your relationship and we are at the end of ours.
- 0:48Speaker 3: Really something I need to know and we're at the
- 0:53Speaker 3: end we are.
- 0:54Speaker 2: I mean, you know, there's a very few couples that
- 0:57Speaker 2: last as long as these two over here. Quite impressive.
- 1:01Speaker 2: So I do have a bunch of time. Do you
- 1:04Speaker 2: have a bunch of questions for you guys? But Blake,
- 1:06Speaker 2: do you have anything you want to ask them?
- 1:10Speaker 3: I don't know, guy, Do you put me on the
- 1:12Speaker 3: spot on the spot.
- 1:13Speaker 2: You knew were coming to do a couple of podcasts,
- 1:15Speaker 2: but I hadn't think of it.
- 1:16Speaker 1: I think I have one for you guys, So okay,
- 1:18Speaker 1: good y'all are both very busy people. So again, like,
- 1:22Speaker 1: how do y'all keep it intentional when we do have
- 1:24Speaker 1: the time to swim with each other, because there's a
- 1:25Speaker 1: million things going on probably in your head of all
- 1:27Speaker 1: things you have to do, So how do you make
- 1:29Speaker 1: sure you're like in the moment with each other and
- 1:31Speaker 1: not focused on all the little things going on.
- 1:33Speaker 3: That's such a good question because now that you've been
- 1:36Speaker 3: hanging out with us for the last month, you can
- 1:38Speaker 3: see how we operate, which is which is very chaotic,
- 1:43Speaker 3: but we try to be We try to put each
- 1:47Speaker 3: other first and we try to like go to each
- 1:50Speaker 3: other's things, So like his podcasts, I try to go
- 1:53Speaker 3: with them, or we try to go run errands, or
- 1:56Speaker 3: we try to do those things so that we're together.
- 1:59Speaker 3: And on the weekend, we pretty much stay with each other.
- 2:02Speaker 3: So whatever happens on the weekends, whatever's going on, we
- 2:05Speaker 3: try to stay with each other. One of the things
- 2:08Speaker 3: that I think saves our marriage is every Saturday and
- 2:10Speaker 3: Sunday morning, we have coffee together and we play backgammon
- 2:14Speaker 3: and that's my favorite John Jay time.
- 2:16Speaker 2: She also wants to make love at noon every day.
- 2:20Speaker 4: Excuse me every day?
- 2:23Speaker 3: That was coming something totally inappropriate. Yeah, just joke, And
- 2:30Speaker 3: I don't think that's I think that's you.
- 2:34Speaker 2: All right. Well, here's a question for you guys know
- 2:37Speaker 2: your dad world. So you've you've been a part of
- 2:41Speaker 2: the Vadass family living with us for a little over
- 2:43Speaker 2: a month, maybe a little month. So what's been your perspective?
- 2:46Speaker 2: What do you think so far?
- 2:49Speaker 1: You know, Okay, it's very different from the dynamic I'm
- 2:54Speaker 1: used to, but in a good way. Like your home
- 2:57Speaker 1: is very like the environment, it's so homey, which is
- 3:00Speaker 1: like obviously, but.
- 3:02Speaker 4: Like I've never not felt welcomed or a part of it.
- 3:05Speaker 1: Y'all make me feel very included, which I'm very grateful for.
- 3:09Speaker 1: And yeah, it's just like a very loving environment. I
- 3:12Speaker 1: can tell you guys love each other. I can tell
- 3:14Speaker 1: that the brothers love each other.
- 3:16Speaker 2: Do you think that it's too much? Like we do
- 3:18Speaker 2: too much? Like I always feel like we're going one
- 3:20Speaker 2: hundred miles an hour with the exception, like yesterday was calm, finally,
- 3:24Speaker 2: but do you think that there's a lot going on
- 3:26Speaker 2: in this family.
- 3:27Speaker 1: I can tell that each person has a lot going on,
- 3:31Speaker 1: but it doesn't ever seem very chaotic to me, which
- 3:34Speaker 1: it might to you guys. But I'm used to like
- 3:37Speaker 1: I'm kind of all over the place all the time,
- 3:39Speaker 1: so a million things happening at once is kind of
- 3:41Speaker 1: how I operate.
- 3:42Speaker 4: So it's it feels functional to me.
- 3:45Speaker 5: I feel like we do a really good job of
- 3:46Speaker 5: having family time.
- 3:48Speaker 4: Yeah, I agree. The family dinners.
- 3:50Speaker 1: Yeah in the morning, like you said, with the coffee
- 3:52Speaker 1: and backgammon, and.
- 3:53Speaker 5: Even when like one person is in here, like Dutchess
- 3:55Speaker 5: in here right now, we're still going to have family
- 3:57Speaker 5: dinner tonight, so it's like we still get like some
- 3:59Speaker 5: sort of time together.
- 4:01Speaker 3: Does it drive you crazy that there's five dogs all
- 4:04Speaker 3: the time going crazy?
- 4:06Speaker 4: I love it. I had a lot of dogs growing
- 4:07Speaker 4: up too, But y'all's dogs.
- 4:09Speaker 1: Just blend well together, so it's never like this big
- 4:13Speaker 1: of an issue like our dogs in the past, you've
- 4:15Speaker 1: had ones that don't get along or that are crazy
- 4:17Speaker 1: and don't y'all's dogs just feel like part of.
- 4:19Speaker 5: The family now that they're old, though, like she doesn't understand.
- 4:22Speaker 5: Now now they're old and they're they're a lot more mellow.
- 4:26Speaker 5: Like growing up, six dogs was way too many because
- 4:30Speaker 5: they were all younger and running around and causing problems.
- 4:33Speaker 5: She gets the fun part where there's like like Charlie
- 4:36Speaker 5: doesn't do any that much anymore, Maggie just hides on
- 4:39Speaker 5: her Dutch's bed all day, Bellow doesn't do anything. They
- 4:43Speaker 5: used to be pain in the asses.
- 4:46Speaker 3: But you growing up, it wasn't just six dogs. I
- 4:49Speaker 3: mean we had the shelter in our house for seven years,
- 4:52Speaker 3: so you grew up with twenty dogs running over.
- 4:55Speaker 5: That's what I'm saying. So like now she's like, oh,
- 4:57Speaker 5: like it's so great now, and I'm like.
- 4:59Speaker 1: Yeah, now, but I'm also an animal person, Like that's
- 5:02Speaker 1: what I want to do in my career.
- 5:03Speaker 5: You have no idea what it used to be like,
- 5:06Speaker 5: it was crazy, do no kind of air I literally had.
- 5:10Speaker 3: We literally had dogs in every room and.
- 5:15Speaker 5: Everyone's an animal person til puppies ship in your bed.
- 5:20Speaker 2: So you guys knew you were coming on this podcast today, right, Yeah?
- 5:23Speaker 2: Is there a reason you decided not to dress nice?
- 5:26Speaker 5: Do you know what there actually is?
- 5:28Speaker 2: I can't prepare for I had a skin appointment before this,
- 5:32Speaker 2: and I told you to look homeless.
- 5:33Speaker 5: Well, last time I showed up to a skin appointment,
- 5:36Speaker 5: I had pants on and I couldn't take the pants
- 5:40Speaker 5: off in like a nice way to show like everything
- 5:44Speaker 5: that needed to be shown.
- 5:45Speaker 2: So I made sure to wear shorts with a shirt.
- 5:49Speaker 2: It's just plain white T shirt.
- 5:50Speaker 5: I no, okay, I'm keeping it authentic.
- 5:53Speaker 2: Here are some questions for you guys from from our audience,
- 5:57Speaker 2: because you guys have been together now how long? All
- 6:00Speaker 2: a little over a year and a half. So are
- 6:01Speaker 2: you guys this this isn't the question. I'm doing a
- 6:05Speaker 2: pre question. Are you guys at the I Love You stage?
- 6:08Speaker 2: Do you guys say I love you to each other? Yeah? Okay,
- 6:11Speaker 2: The question is who said I love you first? I did.
- 6:15Speaker 5: I think if that's the kind of questions we're getting,
- 6:17Speaker 5: it could just be me for all of them.
- 6:19Speaker 4: That is not true.
- 6:20Speaker 5: I could just be the answer for that.
- 6:22Speaker 2: JUSTI.
- 6:23Speaker 5: I take so much initiative, which I learned from you.
- 6:27Speaker 2: Well, but you said it first, not you.
- 6:29Speaker 1: I was more of like I'm I don't think I'm
- 6:32Speaker 1: a shy person, but I think I was pretty shy
- 6:34Speaker 1: going into everything because it's all first and camp has
- 6:39Speaker 1: definitely been more of like a leader in the relationship
- 6:42Speaker 1: and taking the initiative and we've kind of been learning
- 6:45Speaker 1: as you go.
- 6:46Speaker 4: And so, yeah, he did say it first.
- 6:48Speaker 2: Did you say I love you back? Or did you
- 6:49Speaker 2: say I know you do?
- 6:53Speaker 4: No, I said it back. I said it back.
- 6:55Speaker 2: Okay, what was your first impression of each other?
- 7:04Speaker 5: Well, my first impression we actually so I met her
- 7:06Speaker 5: because I slid in her dms and she didn't respond
- 7:08Speaker 5: to me, So that was my first impression. My first
- 7:12Speaker 5: impression was that she didn't like me at all.
- 7:14Speaker 2: And then it was.
- 7:15Speaker 5: Just like whatever, okay, Like you slid her damns, it
- 7:18Speaker 5: was like, what's up? So this was my line and
- 7:20Speaker 5: she claims it's a bad line, but I promise you
- 7:23Speaker 5: it's fire. So she put a picture of a farmer's market,
- 7:27Speaker 5: like she was there's a lot of farmer's markets in
- 7:29Speaker 5: Hawaii where we went to school, and she put a
- 7:31Speaker 5: picture of a farmer's market, like she's at a farmer's market.
- 7:34Speaker 5: And I figured I would use something where it's not
- 7:37Speaker 5: weird and she has something to start the conversation. So
- 7:41Speaker 5: I asked her about the farmer's market. And I answered,
- 7:43Speaker 5: and she didn't respond for ten days.
- 7:45Speaker 4: No, no, no, he's wrong, he lies. I responded within like
- 7:49Speaker 4: an hour. I told him where the farmer's market was,
- 7:51Speaker 4: everything that he asked about it.
- 7:53Speaker 5: And then transactional response, No, no, that's not true.
- 7:56Speaker 1: I actually that's probably the best response you could have
- 7:59Speaker 1: gone for me, because I wouldn't have answered anybody else.
- 8:02Speaker 1: And then I did answer, and then eventually a little
- 8:04Speaker 1: conversation happened.
- 8:05Speaker 4: He asked me, what do you recommend.
- 8:07Speaker 1: I'm like, I've never been in this farmer's market before,
- 8:09Speaker 1: and I'm the kind of person that's like, I'm going
- 8:11Speaker 1: to tell you the truth.
- 8:11Speaker 4: You were just instead of answering. I was stressed, so
- 8:14Speaker 4: I waited until I tried something and then I answered.
- 8:16Speaker 4: And so that was a few days later. But I
- 8:18Speaker 4: didn't ignore him. I didn't.
- 8:21Speaker 2: Seems like you guys are off a little bit on
- 8:22Speaker 2: that one. She said. She responded ten days.
- 8:25Speaker 5: No, how long did you leave my one of the messages?
- 8:28Speaker 4: How week?
- 8:29Speaker 2: Wait? So that was your I said, what was your
- 8:31Speaker 2: first impression? She did respond to your dead what what
- 8:33Speaker 2: was your first suppression of him? So I'm when you
- 8:35Speaker 2: first man in person?
- 8:36Speaker 1: Yeah, that's what I was going to do when we
- 8:37Speaker 1: met in person. So we met at one of the
- 8:40Speaker 1: beaches on the north.
- 8:40Speaker 4: Shore of Hawaii.
- 8:41Speaker 1: I was just like, it was my roommate and I
- 8:44Speaker 1: his roommate, and then another one of their friends, so
- 8:47Speaker 1: there was both my roommates.
- 8:49Speaker 4: There were six of us, three guys, three girls.
- 8:52Speaker 5: And.
- 8:53Speaker 1: I honestly had no idea what to expect going into it.
- 8:56Speaker 1: I was kind of just assuming, Oh, we're all just
- 8:58Speaker 1: gonna hang out as friends.
- 8:59Speaker 4: Like whatever happens happens. Whenever I met him.
- 9:02Speaker 1: I just immediately like he was just the nicest, funniest
- 9:05Speaker 1: person I've ever met, and you could tell you he's
- 9:07Speaker 1: a genuine person, and it was somebody that I knew
- 9:10Speaker 1: i'd want to keep in my life and keep talking
- 9:12Speaker 1: to and see where it could go. And so it
- 9:14Speaker 1: was actually a really good first impression for me, but
- 9:16Speaker 1: also came off pretty shy, which he's not a shy person,
- 9:20Speaker 1: and I thought he was for like the first two weeks.
- 9:24Speaker 2: Who apologizes first after an argument? Have you guys had arguments?
- 9:28Speaker 4: Not like any mean crazy?
- 9:29Speaker 5: The only thing we argue about, I feel like, really
- 9:31Speaker 5: and always comes back to me not listening.
- 9:35Speaker 3: So I would say me, like fatherlikes son.
- 9:38Speaker 5: Yeah, I would say, that's what it is.
- 9:40Speaker 2: Who spends more money?
- 9:43Speaker 5: I mean I feel like that's really easy for me, Okay,
- 9:47Speaker 5: I mean I just I eat the same thing every
- 9:49Speaker 5: day if I can. She loves to shop. I sit
- 9:53Speaker 5: outside the store.
- 9:55Speaker 2: Who's more romantic? Also me? When that's also me?
- 10:00Speaker 1: Well, like I said, he's very much the leader, so
- 10:03Speaker 1: he's kind of the one that sets the dynamic.
- 10:05Speaker 5: I would say, also me, I'm trying to think of
- 10:07Speaker 5: a romantic thing I've done, but now I'm blanking, of.
- 10:09Speaker 3: Course, But you've put together dinner for some of your occasions.
- 10:13Speaker 2: Who takes longer to get ready?
- 10:15Speaker 5: Me a lot?
- 10:18Speaker 2: Okay, what's the biggest green flag about the other person?
- 10:24Speaker 5: How she treats animals and the way she does like
- 10:30Speaker 5: things like every like what's like, if you're gonna do it,
- 10:37Speaker 5: you might as well do it one hundred percent. Like
- 10:39Speaker 5: I feel like that's the way she does everything, which
- 10:42Speaker 5: is like like I really love that about her, Like
- 10:45Speaker 5: she's working the dog shelter right now, and like like
- 10:48Speaker 5: every bowl has to be spotless, every dog, Like it's
- 10:52Speaker 5: it's crazy. It's sometimes sometimes like I'm like, all right,
- 10:56Speaker 5: let's just like, let's let's move on, like let's like
- 10:59Speaker 5: it's over, like that we don't have to be so
- 11:01Speaker 5: amble about something, but like cleaning, like the kitchen doesn't
- 11:04Speaker 5: have to be spotless all the time, but it has
- 11:07Speaker 5: to be spotless all the time.
- 11:08Speaker 2: What about you, Kathery, what's the biggest green flag about him?
- 11:11Speaker 4: Minus? He's very attentive. He like the people he's around.
- 11:15Speaker 1: He gives you his all, and you know, like you
- 11:17Speaker 1: know he's listening. You know, who cares if I ever
- 11:21Speaker 1: bring up something like oh I should I talk to you?
- 11:23Speaker 1: And you were on your phone and I felt a
- 11:24Speaker 1: little ignored, Like it doesn't happen again. He makes sure
- 11:28Speaker 1: that you feel like cared for and acknowledged.
- 11:31Speaker 2: Who's most likely to fall asleep during a movie? I
- 11:35Speaker 2: have a heart.
- 11:36Speaker 5: I don't really nap, ever, So.
- 11:37Speaker 2: Mostly, what's something about your parents? What's something your parents
- 11:43Speaker 2: don't understand about your generation?
- 11:47Speaker 5: That's a great question. So you guys don't understand about
- 11:54Speaker 5: our generation?
- 11:55Speaker 2: Do you have something?
- 11:55Speaker 1: No?
- 11:57Speaker 2: I think we have.
- 11:57Speaker 5: Honestly, the only big difference is technology.
- 11:59Speaker 2: But like.
- 12:02Speaker 4: I think it was easier, not like necessarily easier, but.
- 12:06Speaker 1: Romance and chivalry was a bigger thing back then because
- 12:09Speaker 1: there wasn't technology getting in the way. Like, as you said,
- 12:12Speaker 1: we met through Instagram, and I think back in the
- 12:15Speaker 1: day before Instagram was this big thing, it would have
- 12:18Speaker 1: been nice to meet in person and then just.
- 12:19Speaker 4: Go off that genuine connection.
- 12:21Speaker 1: But then again, we were able to meet in a
- 12:24Speaker 1: way that we probably wouldn't have been able to otherwise.
- 12:26Speaker 2: You don't think you would have bumped to each other
- 12:27Speaker 2: in school we.
- 12:28Speaker 1: Had previously, oh you had yet we had mutual friends,
- 12:32Speaker 1: and I had seen him before, but we hadn't really
- 12:37Speaker 1: talked or met, and so it wasn't really a thought
- 12:39Speaker 1: in either of our heads.
- 12:40Speaker 5: Well, she does like the marine biology and she's really smart,
- 12:43Speaker 5: and I was just baseline business with all.
- 12:47Speaker 2: Yeah, we were kind of like, what are your biggest
- 12:53Speaker 2: goals for the next five years? Both of you?
- 12:59Speaker 5: Well, that's a great question because I'm currently in the
- 13:01Speaker 5: phase of life where I'm trying to figure that out.
- 13:05Speaker 5: So you write down your goals every night and stuff,
- 13:07Speaker 5: but they change all the time. I feel like I'm
- 13:09Speaker 5: in where I don't I don't know every day.
- 13:12Speaker 3: You have different goals every day.
- 13:13Speaker 5: I don't say every day, but they change all the
- 13:16Speaker 5: time I.
- 13:17Speaker 4: Get some goals you're working on right now?
- 13:19Speaker 5: Yeah, so's I.
- 13:21Speaker 3: Can I follow up to that? Go ahead?
- 13:23Speaker 2: No, well, I asked him, and I was gonna answer,
- 13:25Speaker 2: what are your biggest goals the next five years?
- 13:28Speaker 4: Like together or on our own either.
- 13:30Speaker 1: So right now I kind of just figured out what
- 13:33Speaker 1: I want to do with my life, like the direction
- 13:35Speaker 1: I want to go. So right now I'm working really
- 13:37Speaker 1: hard to get into that school, and so that's going
- 13:41Speaker 1: to be probably the next five years of my life
- 13:44Speaker 1: is best school. And then when I get out of that,
- 13:46Speaker 1: I would like to be mentored, figure it out come
- 13:50Speaker 1: the best I can, and then hopefully start my own practice.
- 13:55Speaker 4: So that's kind of like my five year goal.
- 13:59Speaker 2: It's a good goal. Had your follow up?
- 14:00Speaker 3: Like what was on your vision boards that you guys
- 14:04Speaker 3: did this year and have you accomplished any of it?
- 14:07Speaker 2: So?
- 14:09Speaker 5: Ours were mine?
- 14:11Speaker 2: Was?
- 14:11Speaker 5: Money was one on there, I know family churches on
- 14:17Speaker 5: their basketball was on there, my own fam my health
- 14:20Speaker 5: was on there. So like just like wide things that
- 14:23Speaker 5: I want, like wide scope things that I want to
- 14:26Speaker 5: really like have emphasis on, but there weren't any like
- 14:29Speaker 5: specific have this done.
- 14:32Speaker 2: Have this done that?
- 14:32Speaker 4: Kind of He talks about traveling.
- 14:34Speaker 1: Yeah, travel and Japan was on there, so we were
- 14:36Speaker 1: able to do that one. And he's got We've kind
- 14:39Speaker 1: of built like a little bit of a bucket list
- 14:41Speaker 1: of places where I want to go.
- 14:42Speaker 5: And hopefully Guatemala now as one.
- 14:45Speaker 4: Yeah we just got today.
- 14:47Speaker 5: Why because you can camp next to a volcano and
- 14:49Speaker 5: you wake up when it explodes.
- 14:52Speaker 2: You guys lived in an island where there's volcanoes.
- 14:54Speaker 1: All over the players really like, yeah, there are active
- 14:56Speaker 1: ones on all who but neighboring islands?
- 14:59Speaker 2: Okay, Ken? This is from this is a Kemp specific question.
- 15:03Speaker 2: What is something your dad taught you that you appreciate
- 15:06Speaker 2: now but didn't appreciate growing up.
- 15:10Speaker 5: One thing like Dad used to do all the time.
- 15:13Speaker 5: And I don't even know if Mom used to you.
- 15:14Speaker 5: This is like we'd like get in the car like
- 15:16Speaker 5: us and Jake and Dutch, and he would just always
- 15:21Speaker 5: talk about how much like he loves like our mom
- 15:23Speaker 5: and you like without you even being in the room.
- 15:26Speaker 5: So like you just like make sure that when we
- 15:31Speaker 5: have a significant other, which for me is Catherine and
- 15:35Speaker 5: a woman, Jake and Dutch, I'm not totally sure, but
- 15:38Speaker 5: that when we do that, it's someone that likes and
- 15:41Speaker 5: has cared about like our mom.
- 15:43Speaker 2: Okay, now on the flip side, that's something your dad
- 15:47Speaker 2: says all the time that drives you crazy. I'm doing
- 15:52Speaker 2: driving crazy. I don't know. Yeah, I don't think do anything.
- 16:00Speaker 5: There's nothing like, off the top of my head, you
- 16:03Speaker 5: leave yogurt lids all over the place.
- 16:06Speaker 2: In my house.
- 16:06Speaker 3: Doesn't make the trash into the trash. It's wild.
- 16:13Speaker 5: It's just like we because like I get it with PSH.
- 16:17Speaker 5: But when there's just like you found a way to
- 16:19Speaker 5: put the yogurt in the trash, but the lid isn't
- 16:22Speaker 5: in the trash.
- 16:23Speaker 3: No, he doesn't put the yogurt in the trash. I do.
- 16:25Speaker 2: But then you leave the lids.
- 16:27Speaker 5: Someone leaves just the lids around here.
- 16:30Speaker 2: What's the most embarrassing thing about having a dad who's
- 16:33Speaker 2: on the radio.
- 16:37Speaker 5: Honestly, I don't even think it's the radio stuff that's crazy.
- 16:40Speaker 5: Some of the social media stuff. I feel like I
- 16:41Speaker 5: get sent a lot and stuff I send you no
- 16:46Speaker 5: like the stuff you'll post. People send it to you normally.
- 16:51Speaker 5: It's just like teammates, friends, the dances recently have been
- 16:54Speaker 5: one or great.
- 16:56Speaker 2: He just I don't know. Do people know that it's
- 16:58Speaker 2: a I hope they don't. They don't.
- 17:02Speaker 5: Mom's laughing over there. But she's the one, like that's
- 17:05Speaker 5: she's the target audience for AI, and she thought she
- 17:08Speaker 5: thinks everything all people who post AI videos of dogs
- 17:11Speaker 5: and stuff dancing, it's she's the kind of person that
- 17:14Speaker 5: believes all of it all the time.
- 17:16Speaker 3: Oh my god. The two dogs, the Golden Retriever Chuck
- 17:19Speaker 3: and Berry and the like, they are hilarious, So like.
- 17:24Speaker 5: Those funny nothing but like that.
- 17:28Speaker 3: Does it bother you that you live in a glass house?
- 17:31Speaker 5: No, because I don't, like I don't feel like I
- 17:34Speaker 5: have personally anything that's like like so private and like
- 17:38Speaker 5: we haven't even going, like I don't know just how
- 17:39Speaker 5: when you when it's been that way since you were born,
- 17:42Speaker 5: it doesn't like really bother I think.
- 17:44Speaker 3: That's a good question for Catherine. Yeah, does it bother
- 17:47Speaker 3: you that you have entered the glass house?
- 17:51Speaker 1: No?
- 17:52Speaker 4: They give a pretty open book.
- 17:53Speaker 1: So whenever I hear y'all's family everything that goes on
- 17:56Speaker 1: and it's on the internet, it's just whatever.
- 17:59Speaker 2: It's bad ass.
- 18:00Speaker 5: I think when like I think it's happened like twice
- 18:03Speaker 5: maybe where like someone comes up to me and they're like, oh,
- 18:06Speaker 5: like you're John Jay's son or what. We're at the
- 18:09Speaker 5: Cardinals game and someone said, oh, like you're Kemp's corner
- 18:11Speaker 5: and I was like, and she was right next to me,
- 18:13Speaker 5: and I was like, you get that's a.
- 18:16Speaker 4: Few times so like Kemp's Corner's corner.
- 18:19Speaker 2: It makes me feel like the man there were.
- 18:21Speaker 3: Thirteen corner needs to light it up?
- 18:24Speaker 2: What advice of your dad turned out to be? Right?
- 18:29Speaker 5: There's a lot. I feel like, I don't know, she
- 18:34Speaker 5: chmoozing dad day, leaving places early. It's been great advice.
- 18:41Speaker 5: Nothing good happened. It's funny because like as like I've
- 18:43Speaker 5: got he used to say nothing good happens past like
- 18:46Speaker 5: eight pm. And then like I've gotten a college and
- 18:49Speaker 5: like our coach, I would say, like, nothing good happens
- 18:52Speaker 5: past twelve pm, And I was like, the way I
- 18:54Speaker 5: was raised, it was eight pm, just because like who
- 18:57Speaker 5: he is, so he'll he'll say that, like, like what
- 19:01Speaker 5: happens in between that gap of eight and twelve? Like
- 19:04Speaker 5: I don't know, I think, yeah, but like that's one
- 19:07Speaker 5: I feel like that has really been. He used to
- 19:10Speaker 5: like always tell me like the health stuff, like he
- 19:16Speaker 5: wishes he knew, like especially when I was like growing
- 19:19Speaker 5: up and I was like a teenager in before college
- 19:21Speaker 5: and stuff, when he would be like, like, tell me
- 19:23Speaker 5: all about the health stuff. The matter is like sleep
- 19:25Speaker 5: and rest and recovering all this stuff, and I like,
- 19:27Speaker 5: I feel like I see it now, especially with Dutch,
- 19:29Speaker 5: where they just blow him off and then like eventually
- 19:31Speaker 5: like you're like, oh, like that stuff really is important.
- 19:34Speaker 5: It changes lives.
- 19:37Speaker 2: Catherine, what's the best thing about Kemp that nobody sees?
- 19:44Speaker 1: I actually so one of Kim's friends, Kio two, once
- 19:47Speaker 1: and asked how I'm able to deal with Kemp not
- 19:51Speaker 1: being emotional. They're like, he's just very Yeah, they said
- 19:54Speaker 1: that you are very to yourself. You're not emotional, so
- 19:56Speaker 1: like there's not like affection or emotion there, and I
- 20:00Speaker 1: I was like, what are you talking about. I think
- 20:02Speaker 1: Kemp's one of the most affectionate, caring people I've ever met,
- 20:05Speaker 1: and it's also very disciplined and determined, and I feel
- 20:09Speaker 1: like a lot of people just brush past that and
- 20:11Speaker 1: don't realize. And I don't know if he's just more
- 20:15Speaker 1: affectionate because it's me, but I never got the impression
- 20:18Speaker 1: that he didn't he wasn't like an emotional affectionate person.
- 20:22Speaker 4: But some of your friends have said that to me,
- 20:23Speaker 4: so that's something I At first I was like, oh
- 20:25Speaker 4: my gosh, like is he not emotional? And then I
- 20:28Speaker 4: kind of paid attention to I was like, you know,
- 20:30Speaker 4: I see.
- 20:30Speaker 2: Him with you, and I think he's extremely emotional and loving. George,
- 20:33Speaker 2: I agree, Yeah, Catherine, here's another question. What's something John
- 20:36Speaker 2: Jay does that made you think Yep, that's definitely Kemp's dad.
- 20:40Speaker 5: That's a great question.
- 20:44Speaker 4: Definitely the humor. Kemp says some gross things sometimes and
- 20:48Speaker 4: I know exactly would get them from or just like jokes.
- 20:52Speaker 1: He says, Actually, it was funny because whenever we were
- 20:56Speaker 1: watching the interview you were doing, there was a mannerisms
- 20:58Speaker 1: where I was.
- 20:59Speaker 4: Like, oh, Ken does all the time?
- 21:01Speaker 5: Like for me, you know what I do all the time,
- 21:04Speaker 5: And I catch myself soon It is the thing when
- 21:05Speaker 5: you're standing against the wall and you put your back
- 21:07Speaker 5: leg up.
- 21:09Speaker 2: Do you know what I'm talking about? I mean I do.
- 21:10Speaker 2: I don't recall. I mean I know I do it,
- 21:12Speaker 2: but you do.
- 21:12Speaker 5: It all the time all the time, and I will
- 21:15Speaker 5: catch myself doing it and I'll be like like, oh,
- 21:17Speaker 5: like I know exactly where I get that from, you
- 21:19Speaker 5: know what I.
- 21:20Speaker 3: Mean, I'm like in an event or something.
- 21:22Speaker 2: There's something I do that I get it for my
- 21:26Speaker 2: dad and it's the weirdest thing, Like he'll do this
- 21:28Speaker 2: with his nose. Have you ever done that? Before?
- 21:32Speaker 5: I do that?
- 21:32Speaker 2: You do that? My dad would sit there and pinch
- 21:34Speaker 2: his nose with his two fingers and I'd be like,
- 21:37Speaker 2: I would just look at it. Somehow I do. I
- 21:38Speaker 2: find myself doing it all the time. Let's see, here's
- 21:41Speaker 2: another one, Catherine is just for you. What's Kemp's dream job?
- 21:48Speaker 1: See, this is the worst time to ask that because
- 21:50Speaker 1: I would have had a very solid answer.
- 21:52Speaker 4: But now he's kind of changing his mind.
- 21:55Speaker 1: So I think, as of right now, with all the changes,
- 21:58Speaker 1: maybe just owning his own business. I'm seeing where that
- 22:01Speaker 1: can take him. But I do know that he also
- 22:05Speaker 1: thinks about maybe be an agent or starting the grad
- 22:10Speaker 1: assistant to get into that. So probably either sports agent
- 22:14Speaker 1: or some kind of sports management and then maybe his
- 22:18Speaker 1: own business.
- 22:18Speaker 2: Okay, Kemp, what is Catherine's biggest pet peeve that I
- 22:23Speaker 2: do or like? Or in general?
- 22:30Speaker 5: Not lifting up the toilet seat. That's like, I don't
- 22:35Speaker 5: know if that's her biggest But that's just when that
- 22:37Speaker 5: stands out because like especially I've never done that my
- 22:40Speaker 5: entire life. And now like she gets on me.
- 22:42Speaker 3: For putting the toysy down down, Yes, that would be kind.
- 22:47Speaker 4: And sometime he doesn't lift it and then he peas
- 22:49Speaker 4: on it.
- 22:50Speaker 3: Oh yeah, I don't have to put on those, thank you.
- 22:53Speaker 3: And then I have a dog that goes puts his
- 22:55Speaker 3: mouth in it and drinks it.
- 22:58Speaker 1: Well. I was raisen pretty much an all girl house,
- 23:01Speaker 1: so I've never deald like that's never been a thing.
- 23:03Speaker 4: And he was raised out pretty much, so that's normal
- 23:06Speaker 4: for him and not for me.
- 23:07Speaker 3: He normally doesn't go into toilet. He goes in as outside.
- 23:12Speaker 4: Is so weird to me.
- 23:15Speaker 1: Past the bathroom to go outside of Yes, it's so strange.
- 23:20Speaker 2: Kemp. What's Catherine's favorite movie?
- 23:23Speaker 5: Okay, she like is not a big movie person. But
- 23:26Speaker 5: I would say Top Gun.
- 23:30Speaker 4: That's because I watched it recently.
- 23:33Speaker 5: I don't know what would you say your favorite movie is?
- 23:35Speaker 4: I think I have a few, but I don't.
- 23:38Speaker 1: He's right, I don't really watch movies or TV, and
- 23:41Speaker 1: it's usually recency bias if I do.
- 23:44Speaker 4: But I would say of all time.
- 23:46Speaker 1: Probably the first Fast and Furious or the hangover.
- 23:51Speaker 2: Hangovers great.
- 23:53Speaker 3: These guys love the hangover.
- 23:55Speaker 4: I really like what we just watched that Michael Jackson.
- 23:58Speaker 4: I thought it was pretty good. You know his favorite
- 23:59Speaker 4: movie Sky watched too Much TV? Favorite movie?
- 24:04Speaker 2: You have a favorite movie? I haven't.
- 24:06Speaker 5: I don't know if I have a favorite movie. I
- 24:08Speaker 5: have an answer that I always use what step brothers like.
- 24:12Speaker 2: Yeah, that's great.
- 24:13Speaker 4: That was the first one we watched together. My fellos
- 24:15Speaker 4: would do the old thing.
- 24:16Speaker 3: I so the three of the boys can rattle off
- 24:20Speaker 3: that movie where.
- 24:21Speaker 4: They always do it. I never know they're talking about.
- 24:23Speaker 4: Now I'm catching on.
- 24:25Speaker 2: If you could give one piece of advice to your
- 24:29Speaker 2: future married sels ten years from now, what would it
- 24:35Speaker 2: be interesting?
- 24:37Speaker 5: I think we should go to bed and wake up
- 24:39Speaker 5: at the same time every day.
- 24:41Speaker 4: Okay, oh like that one?
- 24:44Speaker 2: You think that's okay, So that's advice.
- 24:47Speaker 3: Wait a minute, Does it count if you go to
- 24:49Speaker 3: bed at the same time but one stays up and
- 24:51Speaker 3: reads and.
- 24:53Speaker 4: Then, you know what, I think that does count?
- 24:56Speaker 3: Doesn't it count?
- 24:57Speaker 4: I think so? But I think I know where he's
- 24:59Speaker 4: going off.
- 24:59Speaker 3: Why are you laughing?
- 25:01Speaker 5: Because I you know that's something he complains about is
- 25:03Speaker 5: him going to bed and you staying up in but
- 25:05Speaker 5: he wears a mask.
- 25:06Speaker 4: Schedules you have.
- 25:08Speaker 2: Mom, there's places all over the house to read. She
- 25:10Speaker 2: wants to read in bed with me.
- 25:11Speaker 3: Because we have a because I want to be close
- 25:13Speaker 3: to him. I'm like that dude, and I want to
- 25:16Speaker 3: be in my own comfy bed and she moves and
- 25:19Speaker 3: then it.
- 25:19Speaker 2: Wakes me up and whatever. You know, that's a whole
- 25:22Speaker 2: other couple.
- 25:22Speaker 1: I think keeps going off that one because whenever we
- 25:24Speaker 1: first met, I'm very much a night ol. I would
- 25:26Speaker 1: go to bed at two or three am. She's in
- 25:28Speaker 1: bed by like seven.
- 25:30Speaker 3: Yeah, I was definitely a dark outside.
- 25:32Speaker 2: It's going to bed early better.
- 25:35Speaker 4: Yeah, I like it now, but that was never a thing.
- 25:37Speaker 5: I could go to five or six and you can
- 25:39Speaker 5: get so much done and then I freaking love it.
- 25:41Speaker 3: You getting up at five or six.
- 25:42Speaker 1: Not these days, like in Hawaii is getting up at
- 25:47Speaker 1: five when about at seven it was really hard for
- 25:49Speaker 1: me to catch up to But I got there, and
- 25:51Speaker 1: it's actually it is a lot better. I definitely function better.
- 25:54Speaker 1: But my advice to us would be just listening. I
- 25:57Speaker 1: think the small things end up adding up and they
- 26:00Speaker 1: and so if you're just being attentive. I'm one of
- 26:03Speaker 1: those people that I like just being observant and reading
- 26:06Speaker 1: the situation. And I think that really helps and pays
- 26:09Speaker 1: off because if I say something once or point out
- 26:13Speaker 1: something once, I don't want to have to point out
- 26:14Speaker 1: one hundred times, which he's pretty good about that. Or
- 26:17Speaker 1: if I ask for help on something, I don't want
- 26:19Speaker 1: him to be either on his phone not listening and
- 26:23Speaker 1: not helping, and then I have to say it ten
- 26:24Speaker 1: times and then he finally is like, oh what, I
- 26:27Speaker 1: don't like that.
- 26:28Speaker 3: Oh that's nice that you learned that before you get married,
- 26:33Speaker 3: because thirty years in it's a tough one.
- 26:35Speaker 2: What do you mean their phones like this didn't exist
- 26:38Speaker 2: when we were doating.
- 26:38Speaker 3: I know we had to actually talk to each other.
- 26:42Speaker 2: That's a big thing you guys. You got to communicate.
- 26:43Speaker 2: That's my advice to you. Anyway, I'd say that's a
- 26:46Speaker 2: good podcast right there. We could wrap it up a
- 26:48Speaker 2: couple's podcasts. Thank you, Catherine, thank you for having us. Yeah,
- 26:52Speaker 2: all right,
