- 0:00Speaker 1: Fly from Midtown Manhattan. Here comes the Mark Simone Show
- 0:05Speaker 1: on seven two.
- 0:09Speaker 2: Well, hey, it's Wednesday. It's Opening Day, Yankees Opening Day
- 0:14Speaker 2: to day. Unfortunately, you can't see the game unless you
- 0:17Speaker 2: have Netflix, but most people have Netflix. It's the first
- 0:20Speaker 2: time opening days. Tonight they're playing in San Francisco, first
- 0:24Speaker 2: time the Yankee home day, Opening Day, which is a
- 0:27Speaker 2: big day, a lot of ceremonies, a lot of stuff,
- 0:30Speaker 2: first time. It won't be on regular television. You gotta
- 0:33Speaker 2: have Netflix to see it. Mets Opening Day is tomorrow,
- 0:37Speaker 2: So baseball season underway as of tonight. A lot to
- 0:40Speaker 2: get to today. We'll get to the latest on Iran
- 0:43Speaker 2: negotiations are taking place, that has been confirmed by both sides.
- 0:48Speaker 2: Now they've been taking place. We'll get to the latest
- 0:50Speaker 2: on Iran. We'll get to Savannah Guthrie, We'll get to LaGuardia,
- 0:55Speaker 2: and we'll get to crazy Mayor Mom Donnie, who now
- 0:58Speaker 2: wants to put tariffs on businesses here in New York.
- 1:02Speaker 2: The TSA, now it's interesting. The TSA still a big,
- 1:08Speaker 2: big shortage. Ice agents are doing a great job in
- 1:10Speaker 2: the airport. Despite what Chuck Schumer said, they're not shooting
- 1:15Speaker 2: people despite what Blumenthal and all the other Democrats that
- 1:21Speaker 2: there would be in the airport brutalizing people shooting, no
- 1:24Speaker 2: gun find in the airport from ICE agents. And the
- 1:30Speaker 2: problem is they've now made the negotiations are taking place
- 1:34Speaker 2: between the Republicans and the Democrats. They've actually made a
- 1:37Speaker 2: lot of progress in the negotiations, Republicans submitting to the
- 1:42Speaker 2: Democrats a deal that would be exactly what they wanted,
- 1:47Speaker 2: and Democrats turning it down. Now. The reason they're turning
- 1:50Speaker 2: it down is they believe, through their own polling, through
- 1:54Speaker 2: their own surveys, that the voters are blaming the Republicans
- 1:59Speaker 2: right now, there's no reason to do that. The Republicans
- 2:02Speaker 2: aren't really behind this, but that's what they believe is
- 2:06Speaker 2: the perception. So as long as they think the Republicans
- 2:09Speaker 2: are getting blamed, they'll keep this shutdown going. And this
- 2:13Speaker 2: tsa problem going. As long as it looks like it's
- 2:16Speaker 2: helping them, doesn't matter what's really true. So that's why
- 2:20Speaker 2: the delay they've offered the Republicans are offered every now.
- 2:23Speaker 2: The problem is the Republicans have to do more messaging wise. Now,
- 2:27Speaker 2: you got to remember, the Democrats will blame the Republicans
- 2:31Speaker 2: and the fake news the media will join in and
- 2:33Speaker 2: blame the Republicans. So for people not paying such close attention,
- 2:38Speaker 2: there's the perception that the Republicans that close down the government,
- 2:41Speaker 2: which when it's actually not true. So Republicans have to
- 2:44Speaker 2: do more. They got to go to the airports. They
- 2:46Speaker 2: got to hold press conferences there. They got to be
- 2:49Speaker 2: right there for great visuals, great optics, and explain what's
- 2:52Speaker 2: really going on. They're reporters all over. Let's see the
- 2:57Speaker 2: Atlanta Airport.
- 2:58Speaker 3: And there seems to be war lines open than normal
- 3:01Speaker 3: right now with the TSA workers here breezing people through.
- 3:05Speaker 3: In fact, a lot of folks have been showing up
- 3:07Speaker 3: shot at how short the lines are.
- 3:09Speaker 2: Yeah, the ICE agents have pretty much solved the problem
- 3:11Speaker 2: in a lot of airports. But again Republicans have to
- 3:14Speaker 2: go there, bring the cameras there, and let everybody see this.
- 3:16Speaker 2: Let's check the Philadelphia Airport.
- 3:18Speaker 4: ICE agents have arrived here in Philadelphia, but I do
- 3:21Speaker 4: want to point out this is an empty line right now.
- 3:24Speaker 4: We are standing in the middle where travelers come to
- 3:27Speaker 4: check in for TSA. Yesterday this was all the way
- 3:29Speaker 4: back to the garage. So good news today lines aren't
- 3:32Speaker 4: too bad.
- 3:32Speaker 2: TSA helping out Phoenix Airport.
- 3:34Speaker 4: Most of the travelers we spoke would say, well, it's disappointing.
- 3:37Speaker 4: The current shutdown is having a negative impact on TSA staff.
- 3:40Speaker 4: They're pleased to see ICE agents stepping it.
- 3:42Speaker 5: They're protecting us.
- 3:43Speaker 2: Yeah, but again, you need more coverage of this. Republican's
- 3:48Speaker 2: got to play this up. They got to force the
- 3:50Speaker 2: media to cover this a little more. Now, what is
- 3:53Speaker 2: it with Democrats and the ICE agents? They hate these
- 3:56Speaker 2: ICE agents. They've been a couple of ugly incidents, but
- 4:00Speaker 2: it's a billionth of one percent. Why do they hate
- 4:03Speaker 2: these ICE agents so much. Well, because they're rounding up
- 4:07Speaker 2: illegals and getting them out of the country, especially the
- 4:09Speaker 2: criminal illegal aliens. Democrats want the illegals here. It's very
- 4:15Speaker 2: important to them. Now Chris Murphy, he's this crazy, awful
- 4:21Speaker 2: Connecticut senator, but the Democrats love him because he says
- 4:24Speaker 2: the most outlandish far left things in the world. In fact,
- 4:29Speaker 2: there are a lot of Democrats are now looking to
- 4:31Speaker 2: dump Schumer as the leader. Get rid of Schumer in
- 4:34Speaker 2: the Senate and put in Chris Murphy. Big push. Now,
- 4:38Speaker 2: get Schumer out and put in Chris Murphy. But listen
- 4:41Speaker 2: to this Chris Murphy speaking yesterday, and he's always on
- 4:44Speaker 2: every wherever there's a camera there, he is. He's as
- 4:48Speaker 2: bad as Schumer, just always running around doing TV shows, appearances.
- 4:53Speaker 2: But he slipped, he slipped. He actually spoke the truth
- 4:57Speaker 2: out loud. They're really just for illegals, more for illegals
- 5:01Speaker 2: than for Americans. Listen to Murphy make this slip.
- 5:04Speaker 5: That's been a failed play for twenty years.
- 5:06Speaker 6: So you are right that that has been the Democratic
- 5:09Speaker 6: strategy for thirty years maybe, and it has failed to
- 5:13Speaker 6: deliver for the people we care about most, the undocumented
- 5:17Speaker 6: Americans that are in this country.
- 5:20Speaker 2: The people we care about most, the undocumented. He actually
- 5:26Speaker 2: said it out loud. So it'll continue, but we'll see,
- 5:31Speaker 2: negotiations will continue. The lines are much better ICE agents
- 5:35Speaker 2: and again they're not shooting anybody all over the place.
- 5:37Speaker 2: Remember the crazy Bloomenthal in Connecticut said they would be
- 5:42Speaker 2: shooting people and brutalizing people and grabbing kids away from
- 5:45Speaker 2: their families. He actually said that. Hakim Jeffrey said that
- 5:50Speaker 2: kind of stuff. And even Corey Booker jumped in yesterday
- 5:53Speaker 2: trying to say that these ICE agents they're violent, they're terrible.
- 5:56Speaker 3: He's taking that agency that is recklessly out of control
- 5:59Speaker 3: and bringing them tots under the lie that somehow.
- 6:02Speaker 2: This is gonna help deal with the long lines that
- 6:06Speaker 2: he created in the first place. This is an outrage Well,
- 6:10Speaker 2: the outrageous booker waited a couple of days too long,
- 6:13Speaker 2: because we've already done it for a couple of days,
- 6:15Speaker 2: and we've seen that they did make the lines longer.
- 6:17Speaker 2: They actually made the lions shorter. Tom Homan responded.
- 6:20Speaker 7: He's misleading American people. He's lying. I want him to
- 6:23Speaker 7: give me one example, just one when ices went into
- 6:26Speaker 7: a church to wrest somebody, or we went into a
- 6:29Speaker 7: hospital to wrest somebody, or we went into an elementary
- 6:32Speaker 7: school to wrest somebody. Just give me one example. You
- 6:35Speaker 7: know why he can't. There isn't anything.
- 6:37Speaker 2: Yeah, but they just make up this stuff. They get
- 6:38Speaker 2: on MSNBC, they go on Morning Joe and they say
- 6:41Speaker 2: they're arresting people in churches, they're arresting people in hospitals.
- 6:44Speaker 2: A lot of people talking about Morning Joe yesterday the
- 6:50Speaker 2: argument was against the Save Act and Morning Joe pointing
- 6:53Speaker 2: to Mika and saying Mika does not know where her
- 6:55Speaker 2: birth certificate is. She can't find it, so she can't
- 6:59Speaker 2: vote in this country. Under this act, she cannot vote.
- 7:03Speaker 2: And a lot of people falling for this. This is
- 7:06Speaker 2: totally misleading every American. If you don't have your birth certificate,
- 7:11Speaker 2: you can get it replaced in two seconds. There's dozens
- 7:13Speaker 2: of websites you can go to. The government has one,
- 7:15Speaker 2: and there's plenty of private ones. You can go to
- 7:17Speaker 2: these websites. Just google it. Just google replacement birth certificate
- 7:22Speaker 2: and hundreds of websites will come up. You can go
- 7:25Speaker 2: to any of these websites. All you can do is
- 7:27Speaker 2: type in your information. They will find your birth certificate
- 7:31Speaker 2: and for a little fee, they'll send you a new
- 7:33Speaker 2: birth certificate. You can have it in about four days.
- 7:36Speaker 2: Anybody can get a replacement birth certificate. It's it's very
- 7:38Speaker 2: easy to use. So they're totally totally misleading America. And
- 7:43Speaker 2: always count on Chuck Schumer. He's the one that says this.
- 7:47Speaker 2: Women are too stupid, they don't know how to get ID.
- 7:50Speaker 2: Minority voters too stupid, they don't know how to get
- 7:52Speaker 2: an ID.
- 7:53Speaker 8: Let's make it very clear, Donald Trump is the one
- 7:56Speaker 8: standing in the way of paychecks. For TSA workers with
- 8:00Speaker 8: a ridiculous attempt to pass the Save Act. Yeah, the
- 8:05Speaker 8: Save Act, which would destroy a lot of what we
- 8:09Speaker 8: know about democracy.
- 8:13Speaker 2: It Save Act just means you've got to be a
- 8:15Speaker 2: citizen to vote destroy democracy. Anyway, let's get to Iran.
- 8:21Speaker 2: There are negotiations tacond place. As we've been telling you,
- 8:25Speaker 2: Iran did put out a statement Monday, we have not
- 8:27Speaker 2: had any talks with the US. Well, technically that's true,
- 8:33Speaker 2: but they were kind of lying to you. We have
- 8:35Speaker 2: been in negotiations for quite a few days with Iran.
- 8:38Speaker 2: They were using a third party intermediary to negotiate. We
- 8:42Speaker 2: go through the third party. They go through the third party.
- 8:45Speaker 2: It's another nation. That's why Iran was technically able to
- 8:49Speaker 2: say we've had no talks with the US. They've been
- 8:51Speaker 2: working through a third party. Negotiations are They're going as expected.
- 8:57Speaker 2: The Iran is asked for all kinds of things that
- 9:01Speaker 2: we're never going to give them. They want control of everything.
- 9:03Speaker 2: There's President Trump on negotiation.
- 9:05Speaker 9: They're talking to us and they're talking sense. And remember
- 9:09Speaker 9: it all starts that they cannot have a nuclear weapon.
- 9:12Speaker 9: Just you know, I said yesterday they said, what are
- 9:15Speaker 9: the top ten. I said, well, number one, two and
- 9:17Speaker 9: three is they can't have a nuclear weapon.
- 9:19Speaker 2: Okay, now here's what it'll probably come down to. Iran
- 9:22Speaker 2: has given us like fourteen demands, twelve of which are ridiculous.
- 9:27Speaker 2: I think what it's going to come down to, they'll
- 9:29Speaker 2: end us at some point. The Straits of Hormuz. Now
- 9:33Speaker 2: it's not open technically, but there are ships coming through
- 9:36Speaker 2: the Straits of Hormoose right now and have been this week.
- 9:39Speaker 2: About ninety ships have come through, and they're ships that
- 9:42Speaker 2: are delivering Iranian oil and they're letting those ships through. Now,
- 9:46Speaker 2: the way they do it is they give them a code.
- 9:49Speaker 2: This is what they do also in a war in
- 9:52Speaker 2: the air, you know, when we're bombing the hell out
- 9:54Speaker 2: of Iraq and Israel's going to help us, other countries
- 9:56Speaker 2: are going to help us. Each plane has to transmit
- 9:59Speaker 2: a code. If it has the right code, we don't
- 10:01Speaker 2: attack them. They're allowed into the combat zone. So they're
- 10:05Speaker 2: using that technology on the Straits of horm Moose. If
- 10:08Speaker 2: the tanker has the right code, it can go through
- 10:11Speaker 2: the straits without being attacked. It transmits that code. Now,
- 10:15Speaker 2: what Iran is going to propose and so far, they've
- 10:19Speaker 2: let ninety ships come through because those ships are delivering
- 10:22Speaker 2: their oil. What they're going to propose is the use
- 10:26Speaker 2: that code system on tankers for anybody wants to get
- 10:29Speaker 2: through the Straits of horm Moose. If it's not one
- 10:31Speaker 2: of their tankers, they're going to want a fee, a
- 10:35Speaker 2: big fee. They're going to charge money to come through
- 10:37Speaker 2: the Straits of horm Moose. This is what the negotiation
- 10:39Speaker 2: will probably come down to, and from now on it'll
- 10:42Speaker 2: be a revenue generator. We'll have to pay to come
- 10:45Speaker 2: through the Straits of horm Moose. Now this is not unusual.
- 10:48Speaker 2: Egypt has been doing this for years with the Siuez Canal.
- 10:51Speaker 2: You got to pay a fee to go through the
- 10:54Speaker 2: Siuez Canal, bring your tanker through there. Now, it's not outrageous.
- 10:59Speaker 2: We do it all the time. You got to pay
- 11:01Speaker 2: a feed across every bridge, to go through every tunnel,
- 11:04Speaker 2: you got to pay a fee. It's easy pass congestion pricing,
- 11:08Speaker 2: all that stuff. So that's probably going to be the
- 11:11Speaker 2: final thing that'll settle this Iran making a fee off that,
- 11:15Speaker 2: and they're gonna need money. They're gonna need to rebuild
- 11:18Speaker 2: the country, so it'll probably work. It'll come down to that. Hey,
- 11:23Speaker 2: LaGuardia Airport. Well, it looks like I mean, the controller
- 11:28Speaker 2: looks like he just went brain dead allowing the truck
- 11:32Speaker 2: to come onto the runway when he had already cleared
- 11:35Speaker 2: a plane to land. But I guess they're trying to
- 11:39Speaker 2: help the controller a little. I mean, it's just they're
- 11:41Speaker 2: saying it was a number of errors. So it was
- 11:43Speaker 2: that error, but it was also a number of errors.
- 11:46Speaker 2: There weren't enough controllers on the fire truck didn't have
- 11:50Speaker 2: a transponder. There's radar that keeps track of all the
- 11:53Speaker 2: planes in the air, but they also have ground radar
- 11:56Speaker 2: keeps track of every vehicle on the ground and matches
- 11:59Speaker 2: it up the planes. And to do that, each vehicle
- 12:03Speaker 2: has to have a transponder transmitting a signal. That's how
- 12:07Speaker 2: the radar picks it up. And that fire truck didn't
- 12:10Speaker 2: have a transponder on it. But most fire trucks usually
- 12:14Speaker 2: don't have a working transponder. But here's the spokesman.
- 12:18Speaker 10: We have no indication there were transponders on any of
- 12:21Speaker 10: the trucks, but there are transponders on other trucks at
- 12:26Speaker 10: other airports. Across the nation. In this case, they did
- 12:31Speaker 10: not have transponders.
- 12:32Speaker 2: Yeah, so they're coming of all these explanations, but really
- 12:35Speaker 2: that controller he already cleared a plane to land. Once
- 12:37Speaker 2: you clear a plane to land, the plane owns the runway.
- 12:40Speaker 2: Nothing else comes on. So it was a big mistake. Now,
- 12:43Speaker 2: how many controllers were on? Were there enough?
- 12:46Speaker 10: We have identified the midshift generally as concern in other investigations,
- 12:52Speaker 10: largely due to fatigue because it spans that time frame
- 12:56Speaker 10: at your circadian low during the day when you're most fatigued.
- 13:01Speaker 2: I don't know, there's a little too much explanation the
- 13:03Speaker 2: circadian level, the fatigue when you're landing. I don't think
- 13:09Speaker 2: you want to know that the controller might be falling asleep.
- 13:12Speaker 2: Circadian level has to do with falling asleep fatigue. Do
- 13:16Speaker 2: you want a guy that's actually awake and watching the runway?
- 13:19Speaker 2: So hey, I did check on those some argument yesterday.
- 13:22Speaker 2: Whose fire trucks are they? They're not NYFD. I met
- 13:26Speaker 2: with the commissioner, the fire commissioner and all the top brass.
- 13:30Speaker 2: They do not control those fire trucks. They do come
- 13:34Speaker 2: in if it's a big fire. Those are Port Authority
- 13:38Speaker 2: fire trucks at the airport run by port authority. Are
- 13:41Speaker 2: they as good as NYFD? Nobody would answer on the record,
- 13:46Speaker 2: but I saw the looks in their faces, So you
- 13:47Speaker 2: don't don't count so much on those Port authority fire trucks,
- 13:50Speaker 2: not like the New York Fire Department, but when they're
- 13:53Speaker 2: in trouble and it's a big fire, they call in
- 13:55Speaker 2: the NAFD. But those were port authority fire trucks. And
- 13:59Speaker 2: again they didn't have transponders. There's a lot wrong with
- 14:02Speaker 2: the way things were run at LaGuardia Airport. Hey, Savannah
- 14:08Speaker 2: Guthrie finally did the first interview when she's going to
- 14:12Speaker 2: finally go on camera and talk at length. Well, Hoda
- 14:15Speaker 2: Cottby the Today Show did the first interview and she
- 14:19Speaker 2: broke down. She cried, it's unbearable, it's agonizing, She went
- 14:26Speaker 2: through the whole story. It's just agony, unbearable. So just
- 14:30Speaker 2: heart wrenching. But always count on NBC to totally exploit
- 14:35Speaker 2: the situation. They've broken it up into two parts. It's
- 14:39Speaker 2: going to be on both days Thursday, Friday. They're already
- 14:42Speaker 2: promoting it. They want you to watch. They'll take advantage
- 14:45Speaker 2: of that pain and suffering trying to get people to
- 14:48Speaker 2: watch the Today Show. She is going to return to
- 14:51Speaker 2: the Today Show. They're looking at April tenth for the
- 14:55Speaker 2: return date. Hey, we'll take some calls next. Eight hundred
- 14:58Speaker 2: three to two one zero seven ten is the number.
- 15:01Speaker 2: So give me a call, especially if you haven't called before.
- 15:04Speaker 2: Eight hundred three two one zero seven ten. Lease give
- 15:08Speaker 2: the number again. Some people say, well, you don't give
- 15:10Speaker 2: the number enough. Eight hundred three two one zero seven ten.
- 15:15Speaker 1: Mister New York Mark simone wr.
- 15:22Speaker 2: Let's take some calls. Eight hundred three two one zero
- 15:26Speaker 2: seven ten is the number. Let's go to Ron in Pittsburgh. Ron,
- 15:30Speaker 2: how you doing?
- 15:31Speaker 5: I'm good, Mark, how you doing today?
- 15:33Speaker 2: Good?
- 15:34Speaker 11: Hey? Love your show. Hey love Jimmy Fayler, Thank you
- 15:37Speaker 11: for that. And hey, if people complaining about Bencent, please
- 15:42Speaker 11: keep him on because I love that guy. Hey, but
- 15:44Speaker 11: I got the thing I wanted to call you about.
- 15:46Speaker 11: I have an idea. How about Cuba is having a
- 15:50Speaker 11: blackout while all the green people take their soul panels
- 15:53Speaker 11: and windmills and get rid of all the power plants.
- 15:55Speaker 12: You show us how they work.
- 15:57Speaker 2: Well, that's a good idea, but we the Cuba will
- 16:01Speaker 2: be free. At some point, probably this summer, they'll free
- 16:04Speaker 2: up Cuba and then a lot of people will be
- 16:05Speaker 2: heading to Cuba for all kinds of opportunity, lots of
- 16:10Speaker 2: lots of interest in Cuba. Now you can used to
- 16:12Speaker 2: imagine that by the fall you could have Iran free,
- 16:17Speaker 2: no more dictatorship. Same thing with Cuba. You could have
- 16:19Speaker 2: two of the biggest problems in the world all of
- 16:22Speaker 2: a sudden ended. Let's go to James in Secaucus. James,
- 16:25Speaker 2: how you doing?
- 16:27Speaker 13: Okay? Well, I want to ask you. A fourth of
- 16:30Speaker 13: July of a Saturday, celebrated Friday nine to eleven is Friday.
- 16:34Speaker 13: Chris was in New Year's Friday. Do you think he'll
- 16:36Speaker 13: put that prayer rug out? And if he does, well,
- 16:38Speaker 13: Kathy All will do anything about it?
- 16:40Speaker 2: Yeah? Well wait, wait a minute. Fourth of July is
- 16:43Speaker 2: on a Saturday this year.
- 16:45Speaker 13: Yeah, but they celebrated Friday a lot of places.
- 16:47Speaker 2: Oh why would they do that when it's on a Saturday. Well, anyway,
- 16:52Speaker 2: you mean they get we had Friday off that weekend,
- 16:54Speaker 2: not Monday.
- 16:55Speaker 13: Yes, yes, yeah, Friday.
- 16:58Speaker 2: I don't like that. We should get Friday and Monday.
- 17:00Speaker 2: We should get two days.
- 17:01Speaker 13: You're doing get Friday, Sadday, you get Friday, Sunday, you
- 17:05Speaker 13: get Monday.
- 17:05Speaker 2: Now you got me all confused. Who's on first? I
- 17:07Speaker 2: don't know? But anyway, thanks for Colin. Let's go to
- 17:09Speaker 2: Paul and White Plains. Paul, how you doing?
- 17:13Speaker 11: Mark?
- 17:13Speaker 12: I'm doing well, but I almost drove off the road
- 17:16Speaker 12: when I heard you say that Trump is going to
- 17:18Speaker 12: agree to allow the Iranians to tax every ship that goes.
- 17:22Speaker 2: Through this not not not not tax. But one thing
- 17:25Speaker 2: they want is a fee. It's not unreasonable. We do that.
- 17:27Speaker 2: Every country does that.
- 17:29Speaker 12: But but Mark didn't.
- 17:31Speaker 5: We all see.
- 17:33Speaker 2: It's going to keep going every A lot of countries
- 17:36Speaker 2: do it. It's perfectly normal. We do it, harbors do it,
- 17:38Speaker 2: ports do it. It's not unusual.
- 17:41Speaker 12: But isn't it giving them sort of like a little
- 17:44Speaker 12: payback for for what's going on? I mean, it seems
- 17:47Speaker 12: to make no sense.
- 17:49Speaker 2: You know, I could. We could keep doing this for
- 17:51Speaker 2: an hour, and you're gonna keep saying that it makes
- 17:52Speaker 2: no sense. I don't. It's again, I'd rather not give
- 17:56Speaker 2: him a fee. I understand your feeling, but it's not
- 17:59Speaker 2: unusual happenings, so it's got to be a reasonable fee.
- 18:01Speaker 2: You I mean, but a million supports Harbor's countries. As
- 18:05Speaker 2: I said, Egypt, there's a fee. Who used the Suez Canal.
- 18:07Speaker 2: It's done all the time. You know, you do it,
- 18:09Speaker 2: you go through it yourself. You want to go over
- 18:11Speaker 2: the throgs Neck, you're gonna pay a fee. You want
- 18:13Speaker 2: to go through the Lincoln Tunnel, You're gonna pay a fee.
- 18:16Speaker 2: You want to come into Midtown, You're gonna pay a fee.
- 18:18Speaker 2: Congestion pricing. Let's go to Mark and Allentown, Mark, how.
- 18:21Speaker 14: You doing, Hey, good morning.
- 18:25Speaker 15: Before I get to my question, my statement is that
- 18:28Speaker 15: I was shocked watching ABC News World last night how
- 18:31Speaker 15: they covered the poor girl that was killed in Chicago
- 18:35Speaker 15: and they've said illegal immigrant a few times.
- 18:38Speaker 5: That really floored me.
- 18:40Speaker 2: Wow, that's a big concession from them. Absolutely, it was
- 18:46Speaker 2: preally amazing. Yeah, this poor girl was killed by this
- 18:49Speaker 2: illegal immigrant. You see very little coverage of it. Actually,
- 18:54Speaker 2: you know, if it was the other way around, if
- 18:56Speaker 2: she killed the illegal immigrant, it'd be there'd be protests
- 18:59Speaker 2: all over the street, there'd be riots would be every
- 19:01Speaker 2: but uh, this is getting very little attention. But good
- 19:05Speaker 2: for ABC is maybe they're maybe they're waking up a
- 19:08Speaker 2: little Let's go to Linda and Pennsylvania. Linda, how you doing?
- 19:12Speaker 14: I'm good?
- 19:12Speaker 6: Hell are you?
- 19:13Speaker 2: I'm good?
- 19:15Speaker 5: I just have a question.
- 19:16Speaker 16: Why is there no outraged over the fact that White
- 19:21Speaker 16: is flooding and SEEMA is.
- 19:23Speaker 12: Not being paid?
- 19:25Speaker 2: Say again, what's flooding?
- 19:28Speaker 12: Okay, Hawaii.
- 19:31Speaker 7: Years Oh, Hawaii, Hawaii, and you hear nothing about SEMA,
- 19:37Speaker 7: and yet SEMA's one of the agencies that's not being paid.
- 19:40Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a good point. You have a very good
- 19:42Speaker 2: point after this were Republican Congress holding this up. If
- 19:46Speaker 2: the Republicans held this up here, it's all you'd be
- 19:48Speaker 2: hearing about is Hawaii is flooding while FEMA's not being paid.
- 19:51Speaker 2: FEMA is part of a department Homeland Security, not funded
- 19:54Speaker 2: at the moment. Let's go to Dennis in Long Island. Dennis,
- 19:57Speaker 2: how you doing?
- 19:59Speaker 16: Hey Mack? Great? Show Mark?
- 20:04Speaker 2: Everybody says, like a character from in nineteen forties movie
- 20:06Speaker 2: Hey Mark, why.
- 20:07Speaker 11: Are you Mark?
- 20:08Speaker 16: Yeah, Schulma wants to tell Schulma wants ice to take
- 20:12Speaker 16: their masks go up to identify them. Whant we even
- 20:14Speaker 16: the playing field all protesters cannot wear a mask so
- 20:18Speaker 16: we can identify the bad players?
- 20:20Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 20:21Speaker 2: Well, good idea. They do do that in some cities's
- 20:24Speaker 2: not allowed to wear a mask. But the problem is
- 20:28Speaker 2: you could have protesters with no masks and no, the
- 20:31Speaker 2: Republicans won't bother them, not gonna do anything about it.
- 20:34Speaker 2: But you know, the problem with a nice agent is
- 20:35Speaker 2: if he's not wearing a mask. In today's world, you
- 20:38Speaker 2: can take a picture of their face. You can reverse
- 20:41Speaker 2: image search it. You can find out who they are.
- 20:44Speaker 2: You can get their address. You can go on the
- 20:45Speaker 2: internet and do this, get their address, and then Democratic
- 20:48Speaker 2: protesters will go to their house and terrorize their children
- 20:52Speaker 2: and their family, yelling and screaming and causing chaos outside
- 20:56Speaker 2: their house. It's called doxing. You find the address, you
- 20:59Speaker 2: go to the house us and it's just going to
- 21:03Speaker 2: be a nightmare for these families. So that's why they
- 21:05Speaker 2: wear masks. Now, Republicans never do this kind of stuff,
- 21:09Speaker 2: never ever ever do this kind of stuff. They don't
- 21:12Speaker 2: surround somebody's house and try to terrorize their kids. So
- 21:16Speaker 2: that's the reason for the masks. They're not wearing masks
- 21:18Speaker 2: at the airports, and a lot of people are worried
- 21:20Speaker 2: about this, that they're gonna start photographing these ice agents
- 21:23Speaker 2: and start doing this stuff. So we'll see. Let's go
- 21:25Speaker 2: to Joe and NUTLEYT Joe, how you doing?
- 21:29Speaker 14: Yeah, Hey, Mark, how are you a longtime listener? I
- 21:33Speaker 14: just want to talk about the mid term elections coming up.
- 21:36Speaker 14: I've been hearing so much on even the Republican side,
- 21:39Speaker 14: how the GOP isn't going to do well in the elections,
- 21:43Speaker 14: and frankly, I just can't see how we can't do
- 21:46Speaker 14: well well.
- 21:46Speaker 2: No, I don't don't fall for a lot of fake
- 21:48Speaker 2: poles being reported. We played the clip of CNN yesterday
- 21:52Speaker 2: where they had a real poll and they had to
- 21:53Speaker 2: admit Democrats are so far underwater. They're down like fifty
- 21:57Speaker 2: five points unders now. But to remember, you can't predict
- 22:01Speaker 2: the midterms right now. People love to do it. They
- 22:03Speaker 2: love to predict, They love to guess. They love to
- 22:05Speaker 2: go to the polymarket, see where they gamblers. It doesn't
- 22:09Speaker 2: mean anything. This is like it's like trying to predict
- 22:12Speaker 2: who's gonna win the Super Bowl in twenty twenty eight.
- 22:14Speaker 2: You're way too far out to know what's gonna happen
- 22:16Speaker 2: in the midterms. It's a long way off now. Some
- 22:19Speaker 2: will argue that as you get into the late summer,
- 22:22Speaker 2: it gets set. I mean maybe in the midsummer it
- 22:25Speaker 2: starts to get locked in and so. But but that
- 22:28Speaker 2: even the midsummer, you're talking about months and months away,
- 22:30Speaker 2: got a long way to go. Hey, when we come back,
- 22:32Speaker 2: Roger Friedman will be with us, the great entertainment reporter.
- 22:36Speaker 2: Lots to talk to him about. We'll do that next
- 22:38Speaker 2: on seven ten WR.
- 22:41Speaker 1: It's the Marks Among Show on seven ten WR.
- 22:46Speaker 2: Well, Roger Friedman a great entertainment reporter. His website is
- 22:50Speaker 2: showbiz for one one dot com. You check it every day.
- 22:53Speaker 2: There's always new stuff up there. Show biz for one
- 22:56Speaker 2: one dot com. Roger Friedman, how you.
- 22:59Speaker 5: Doing, I'm great, Good morning Mark.
- 23:02Speaker 2: Hey, Savannah Guthrie is going to finally do the first
- 23:05Speaker 2: Today Show interview Thursday, Friday, breaks down christ.
- 23:09Speaker 5: Thursday and Friday. Yeah, well, no, I mean she wants
- 23:15Speaker 5: to go back. She has to go back to work.
- 23:18Speaker 5: It's a terrible story. Nobody's they haven't been able to
- 23:20Speaker 5: find the mother. It's been a huge public thing, and
- 23:26Speaker 5: I think to pave the way for her to come
- 23:27Speaker 5: back to work, she's got to do. Get it all
- 23:30Speaker 5: out on the table. So they'll do it. Thursday and Friday,
- 23:34Speaker 5: they'll get big ratings and then maybe a month later
- 23:36Speaker 5: in May, she'll come back.
- 23:38Speaker 2: Yeah, well I'm here in April tenth. That's the day
- 23:40Speaker 2: she's looking to coming back.
- 23:41Speaker 5: Oh April tenth, is that what they're saying? Okay, well,
- 23:44Speaker 5: then then she'll be back April tenth. And you know,
- 23:49Speaker 5: she has to go back to living, her kids have
- 23:51Speaker 5: to go back to school, and you know, life has
- 23:54Speaker 5: to go back to normal, and they may never find
- 23:57Speaker 5: this woman. Yeah, you know, who knows what's going to happen.
- 24:01Speaker 2: Not the best I think that maybe it's not the
- 24:04Speaker 2: best thing for the Tucson Chamber of Commerce. I mean,
- 24:06Speaker 2: you look at that goofy sheriff and those crazy locals,
- 24:09Speaker 2: and oh.
- 24:10Speaker 5: And the mayor of Tucson has never said a word
- 24:12Speaker 5: about this, not a word. This woman has never spoken
- 24:16Speaker 5: about it. I think at the beginning she says something like, oh,
- 24:18Speaker 5: we have a problem in town. That was February first.
- 24:23Speaker 5: This woman has not done a thing to help in
- 24:25Speaker 5: the case.
- 24:26Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, if I were looking at this, that
- 24:28Speaker 2: was very weird. Would not want to live in one
- 24:29Speaker 2: of these breaking bad kind of towns.
- 24:34Speaker 5: As New Yorkers, you know, we're against this generally speaking.
- 24:38Speaker 5: You know, I always said that in the movie Fatal Attraction,
- 24:42Speaker 5: when the family lived in Manhattan in an apartment building
- 24:44Speaker 5: with a doorman, nothing happened to them. The minute they
- 24:48Speaker 5: moved to the suburbs, Glenn Close got in there and
- 24:52Speaker 5: you know, boiled the bunny. So it took the kid hostage,
- 24:56Speaker 5: and you know, the whole thing. So it's much better
- 24:59Speaker 5: to be the city and be in a nice doorman
- 25:02Speaker 5: building and not have these problems.
- 25:04Speaker 2: Also, you'd have surveillance cameras on every inch of every block.
- 25:07Speaker 2: You would know what happened.
- 25:09Speaker 5: Well, this is a very weird story about missus Guthrie
- 25:12Speaker 5: because there doesn't seem to have been much security at
- 25:15Speaker 5: the house or anybody living with her. She's eighty four
- 25:18Speaker 5: years old and she can't walk or something. And the
- 25:22Speaker 5: night that she had dinner with a daughter and son
- 25:25Speaker 5: in law, they sent for her in an uber. They
- 25:29Speaker 5: didn't even go pick her up. I don't understand this
- 25:32Speaker 5: is not if she was so old and so infirmed,
- 25:36Speaker 5: they were sort of treating her like, you know, a package.
- 25:41Speaker 5: So there's a lot I hope that I doubt that
- 25:43Speaker 5: he will ask her these questions. But those are the
- 25:46Speaker 5: questions I would ask, like, why were you not why
- 25:49Speaker 5: didn't you have someone living in the house with your mother?
- 25:52Speaker 5: First of all, you know, and it's a remote area.
- 25:56Speaker 2: Yeah, no, they're good questions. But hey, have you been
- 25:58Speaker 2: watching this? Jfkjune your mini series? This series?
- 26:02Speaker 5: I watched a little bit of it, you.
- 26:04Speaker 9: Know, you.
- 26:07Speaker 2: Around for the real around how realistic does it look?
- 26:11Speaker 5: And not really realistic at all? And I'm sort of
- 26:15Speaker 5: offended by the fact that people are doing these uh
- 26:19Speaker 5: you know, they're dressing up as John Kennedy Jr. And
- 26:23Speaker 5: they're having contests about who looks like him and all this.
- 26:28Speaker 5: It's it's offensive. They died in a really terrible accident
- 26:32Speaker 5: and none of these people knew him. The people who
- 26:36Speaker 5: made the TV show didn't know him. And you see
- 26:40Speaker 5: a lot of people who worked for John complaining now
- 26:43Speaker 5: and saying that the show has no bearing on the truth.
- 26:46Speaker 5: Of course, Jack Schlossberg doesn't you know, believe it, and
- 26:50Speaker 5: has you know, really criticized Ryan Murphy. And also don't
- 26:56Speaker 5: don't remember, you know, don't forget Carol Bessett died and
- 26:59Speaker 5: her sister dies, So how hard is this show? You know?
- 27:02Speaker 5: For the that family. I think it's just exploitation.
- 27:07Speaker 2: Oh definitely. But they really went the great length and
- 27:09Speaker 2: expense to recreate all the locations of the nineties. All
- 27:12Speaker 2: the streets are filled with nineties cars. It does have
- 27:15Speaker 2: a good look to it. I know it brings back
- 27:18Speaker 2: a lot of memories. Hey, yeah, I don't know if
- 27:21Speaker 2: they're good memories. Yeah, tell us about Paul McCartney. What's
- 27:24Speaker 2: he up to?
- 27:26Speaker 5: Paul McCartney. The other day he started posting cryptic messages
- 27:32Speaker 5: on Instagram and now he's now even more cryptic messages
- 27:37Speaker 5: came out overnight and it looks like he's going to
- 27:39Speaker 5: be announcing a new album maybe tomorrow today, Tomorrow, Friday.
- 27:43Speaker 5: And it's amazing because he's going to be eighty four
- 27:47Speaker 5: and he never stops. And the album is called The
- 27:52Speaker 5: Boys of Dungeon Lane. Dungeon Lane is a street in
- 27:56Speaker 5: Liverpool where he grew up, where they all grew up.
- 27:59Speaker 5: And I think it's going to be a very autobiographical
- 28:02Speaker 5: album about his young days. And then, of course this
- 28:05Speaker 5: Friday and Saturday, he's playing two shows in Los Angeles
- 28:11Speaker 5: at the Fonda Theater. Were seats about twelve hundred people
- 28:15Speaker 5: each night and of course, the thing is totally sold
- 28:18Speaker 5: out and people are going to be lined up around
- 28:20Speaker 5: the block to try to get in. You know, he
- 28:22Speaker 5: did this a couple of years ago at the Bowie
- 28:27Speaker 5: at the Barry Ballroom here in New York. I went
- 28:29Speaker 5: to it. Getting into it, you literally had to give
- 28:33Speaker 5: a kidney to get in there. And the Barry Ballroom
- 28:36Speaker 5: is only about half as many seats. I think it's
- 28:39Speaker 5: five seventy five and everybody stood and it was an
- 28:44Speaker 5: amazing show. I'm sure that people in LA will have
- 28:47Speaker 5: a similar experience. And then I guess maybe the album
- 28:53Speaker 5: will come out for his eighty fourth birthday in June.
- 28:56Speaker 2: So from Penny Lane to That's pretty cool Penny Lane
- 28:59Speaker 2: to Dungeon Lane.
- 29:00Speaker 5: A Dungeon Lane, right, there are a lot of lanes
- 29:02Speaker 5: apparently in Liverpool.
- 29:07Speaker 2: Barry Manilow, what's going on with him?
- 29:10Speaker 5: You know, Barry Manilow, Neil Diamond, all these guys in
- 29:13Speaker 5: their eighties are putting out music. Barry Manilow has has
- 29:19Speaker 5: had a hit all winter on adult contemporary radio. It's
- 29:23Speaker 5: called Once Before you Go. Babyface remixed it and it
- 29:28Speaker 5: turned out to me a little bit of a hit.
- 29:30Speaker 5: So he's got a whole album coming out next month,
- 29:34Speaker 5: but all new songs. Health Wise, he has lung cancer
- 29:41Speaker 5: and he was operated on and it looks like he's
- 29:45Speaker 5: done very well. He's done very well and he's going
- 29:50Speaker 5: to start touring again next month. Oh okay, well that's great,
- 29:54Speaker 5: so it's pretty cool. And then Neil Diamond, he's putting
- 29:58Speaker 5: out an unreleased album from from decades ago that he
- 30:03Speaker 5: never put out. And now I kind of tell you
- 30:07Speaker 5: the first song is great. You know, the Neil Diamond
- 30:10Speaker 5: stuff I love is like solitary man. You know, it's
- 30:14Speaker 5: that before all that, you know, I am I said,
- 30:17Speaker 5: and all that and Hello America. But this album, this
- 30:22Speaker 5: song sounds pretty good. So maybe the album is nice.
- 30:25Speaker 2: It sounds pretty good to the musicologists and they love
- 30:27Speaker 2: but you know, there's a reason it was unreleased. You know,
- 30:34Speaker 2: they always give you the album we put back. The
- 30:36Speaker 2: missing cut wasn't missing. They just didn't want to use
- 30:38Speaker 2: it. It wasn't that good.
- 30:39Speaker 5: So yeah, but this this song sounds pretty good.
- 30:44Speaker 2: So I don't know.
- 30:45Speaker 5: I mean, I'm not a big Neil Diamond fan, but
- 30:46Speaker 5: I give him credit. You know, these guys keep plugging away.
- 30:49Speaker 5: You know, it's like as long as we're alive, we
- 30:51Speaker 5: just keep going. Nobody wants to retire.
- 30:53Speaker 2: Yeah, hey, we only got about thirty seconds left. Tell
- 30:55Speaker 2: us how Broadway's doing. Is business?
- 30:57Speaker 5: Okay, Broadway is booming. It was up five million dollars
- 31:02Speaker 5: this week from last week. All the shows are booming. Yep,
- 31:07Speaker 5: Hamilton is booming. The Harry Potter Show is booming. Everybody.
- 31:11Speaker 5: Everybody was up in the last week because of spring break,
- 31:15Speaker 5: and it's busier than ever. On Monday night, I went
- 31:18Speaker 5: to see Giant with John Lithgow, who's just a fantastic
- 31:22Speaker 5: actor and gives a great performance. Daniel Ratcliffe is doing
- 31:27Speaker 5: a one man show on Broadway. It's supposed to be excellent.
- 31:30Speaker 5: I haven't seen it yet. And then coming in June
- 31:34Speaker 5: is a sting to the Metropolitan Opera with his show
- 31:37Speaker 5: The Last Ship, which played on Broadway a few years
- 31:41Speaker 5: ago and now is coming back in sort of a
- 31:43Speaker 5: new form with beautiful sets, and it's supposed to be
- 31:46Speaker 5: had incredible reviews in Europe, and now it's sailing into
- 31:51Speaker 5: the Metropolitan Opera House for nine performances in June. That's it, nine,
- 31:57Speaker 5: just nine, that's it. Then he's got to move on
- 31:59Speaker 5: to the next.
- 32:00Speaker 2: Ye I don't like that they got to do more
- 32:01Speaker 2: than that, but anyway, it sounds good.
- 32:03Speaker 5: Well maybe they will, all right, Well.
- 32:05Speaker 2: Everybody check out Roger Freeman's website. There's always great stuff there.
- 32:08Speaker 2: Just go to Showbiz for one one dot com. Showbiz
- 32:12Speaker 2: for one one dot com. Roger Friedman, thanks for being
- 32:15Speaker 2: with us. Thank you, Take care. Hey, don't forget Bucking
- 32:19Speaker 2: Clay Noon Today, excellent show at twelve noon and the
- 32:24Speaker 2: most listened to radio show in America Sean Hendry at three,
- 32:28Speaker 2: Jesse Kelly at six, and Jimmy Fayla Real good show,
- 32:31Speaker 2: very funny every night at nine on seven to ten
- 32:34Speaker 2: wo R. If you're listening to Mark on the iHeartRadio.
- 32:38Speaker 1: App, save time and tap the preset button now. Now
- 32:42Speaker 1: back to the Mark Simone Show on woor.
- 32:47Speaker 2: Well. Hey, coming up after the news. Another hour to go.
- 32:50Speaker 2: We'll get to crazy mayor Mom Donne, who wants to
- 32:52Speaker 2: put tariffs on businesses in New York. We've got to
- 32:56Speaker 2: the shrinking, shrinking TV business coming up, and the whole
- 33:00Speaker 2: lot more to talk about in the next hour. Don't
- 33:01Speaker 2: go away. Back after the news on seven ten woir
