- 0:03Speaker 1: It's a podcast call twenty five whist and they were
- 0:09Speaker 1: a whist So, yeah, it's too bad, But what did
- 0:12Speaker 1: you expect. It's a podcast called twenty five Whistles twenty wine.
- 0:19Speaker 2: Welcome to the show. Blow the whistle. Yeah I saw
- 0:21Speaker 2: this last week. But a guy who broke the world
- 0:24Speaker 2: record for running a mile. So his name is Josh Kerr.
- 0:28Speaker 2: I think he's Australian. He ran a mile in three
- 0:33Speaker 2: minutes and forty two seconds. What and that's the world record? Now,
- 0:39Speaker 2: dang Mike, when you hear that as a runner, it's
- 0:41Speaker 2: from Great Britain.
- 0:42Speaker 3: That's insane, Like that's I mean, I could do double
- 0:45Speaker 3: that and that would be fast for me.
- 0:47Speaker 2: What I heard somebody comparing it to is if you
- 0:49Speaker 2: take the treadmill to gym and you go all the
- 0:51Speaker 2: way up as fast as it could possibly go, and
- 0:53Speaker 2: you just that that's even faster than that for a mile.
- 0:58Speaker 4: That's crazy.
- 1:00Speaker 1: How does how do people get that much better at things?
- 1:04Speaker 1: And I'm talking about humans right, Like this is a
- 1:08Speaker 1: record because in all these years humans have not been
- 1:11Speaker 1: able to do this, but now all of a sudden,
- 1:13Speaker 1: this guy named Josh Kirk can be way faster.
- 1:16Speaker 2: Than everyone, but he only beat the other record back
- 1:18Speaker 2: a second or something.
- 1:19Speaker 1: Oh it's okay, so it's a slowly yeah.
- 1:22Speaker 2: And forever they couldn't break a four minute mile. And
- 1:25Speaker 2: I think I've told this story before, but they it
- 1:29Speaker 2: was kind of the fairy tale that one day a
- 1:31Speaker 2: human's going to break a four minute mile, and then
- 1:34Speaker 2: once someone finally did break it, it showed it as possible,
- 1:37Speaker 2: and then the people start being a four minute mile
- 1:39Speaker 2: all the time.
- 1:40Speaker 1: Got it?
- 1:41Speaker 2: The story is the formut mile was once considered humanly impossible,
- 1:45Speaker 2: a physiological barrier doctors believed would literally burst a man's
- 1:50Speaker 2: heart if he ran a mile in less than four minutes.
- 1:54Speaker 2: May sixth, nineteen fifty four, a twenty five year old
- 1:57Speaker 2: British medical student named Roger Banister proved the world wrong.
- 2:02Speaker 2: It was cold, it was raw, there were crosswinds, so
- 2:06Speaker 2: not wins behind him. He almost called the attempt off
- 2:10Speaker 2: due to weather. Just before the race, the wind dropped
- 2:13Speaker 2: and so he ran. He was paced by a teammate
- 2:17Speaker 2: at first, and then different teammates because they can't run
- 2:20Speaker 2: it that fast, and so he was paid by different
- 2:25Speaker 2: teammates at thirty no, no, a minute a lap right,
- 2:31Speaker 2: so if he can do a minute a lap, and
- 2:34Speaker 2: so he then took over and got ahead at a
- 2:38Speaker 2: minute fifty eight seconds and he finished in he surge
- 2:45Speaker 2: did on the final back stretched sprinting the last three
- 2:48Speaker 2: hundred yards, he crossed the tape and collapsed into the
- 2:51Speaker 2: arms of the crowd three minutes fifty nine seconds and
- 2:56Speaker 2: four tenths of a second.
- 2:57Speaker 5: Wow.
- 2:57Speaker 2: Right now, this had been forever, like decades that they said,
- 3:03Speaker 2: you can't do this. Here's medically why one of the
- 3:05Speaker 2: reasons your heart would burst. I think about that. For decades,
- 3:08Speaker 2: no one had done it. He did it, big deal.
- 3:10Speaker 2: Forty six days later, somebody else did it. Oh yeah,
- 3:13Speaker 2: I guess because like if the shows it can be done,
- 3:15Speaker 2: and if that's what the doctors.
- 3:16Speaker 1: Are saying, like, hey, your heart will blow up if
- 3:19Speaker 1: you try this, who's gonna try it. I'm not trying it.
- 3:22Speaker 2: People tried it, though, they just couldn't beat four minutes.
- 3:25Speaker 1: So it's so mental, is what you're saying.
- 3:26Speaker 2: It's exactly what it was. And then after that happened,
- 3:29Speaker 2: people started to do it. Now obviously not everybody. It's
- 3:32Speaker 2: still very hard. Yeah, like we can't do it. And
- 3:34Speaker 2: the guy that just set the world record. You know,
- 3:36Speaker 2: he ran it at three minutes forty two seconds, So
- 3:38Speaker 2: you're talking about all those years you've only got a
- 3:41Speaker 2: seventeen and some change second difference. But pretty wild.
- 3:44Speaker 4: Did he say what he ran it on? The guy? Well,
- 3:46Speaker 4: either one get it? The track is it? It can't
- 3:49Speaker 4: be like the street, It can't be.
- 3:50Speaker 1: Try It got to be a track, right you try,
- 3:52Speaker 1: and it's got to be outdoors, right, Like you can't
- 3:54Speaker 1: have an indoor no element track because this guy wrote
- 3:57Speaker 1: like all the wind and everything, and I feel like
- 3:59Speaker 1: if you're going to beat a record, it's got to
- 4:01Speaker 1: be in the elements.
- 4:03Speaker 2: I think it could be indoors. Yeah, because with the
- 4:05Speaker 2: elements too, they won't even count it. Especially in sprinting,
- 4:08Speaker 2: if you have any sort of backwind, it doesn't count.
- 4:12Speaker 2: You can have the world record, but it'll say wind
- 4:13Speaker 2: aided and it doesn't count as the record.
- 4:15Speaker 1: That's like long drives in golf really yeah.
- 4:18Speaker 2: Back like a long drive contest they don't allow win.
- 4:20Speaker 1: Oh no, I'm not saying that. I'm just saying that,
- 4:22Speaker 1: like the people that have like four hundred and twenty
- 4:24Speaker 1: yard drives, that's because they hit the cart path a
- 4:26Speaker 1: few times.
- 4:27Speaker 2: Oh yeah, No. I was playing with Matt Castle and
- 4:29Speaker 2: we were playing at his club, and I, you know,
- 4:32Speaker 2: I have that driver that's like a mini driver, and
- 4:35Speaker 2: so I was not confident in my driving because I
- 4:37Speaker 2: haven't played in forever. And so I got the mini
- 4:39Speaker 2: driver out and I was hitting it pretty good. And
- 4:41Speaker 2: I was probably hitting it two thirty with the mini driver.
- 4:44Speaker 2: When I would hit it good, it probably take sucks
- 4:46Speaker 2: off twenty yards, but I hit it. It's gone, but
- 4:51Speaker 2: in the middle we couldn't find it. And it's one
- 4:53Speaker 2: of those frustrating times where you're like, I know, I
- 4:54Speaker 2: hit it in the middle and you can't, and then
- 4:56Speaker 2: you go, we gonna like gallery rules. Somebody's got to
- 4:58Speaker 2: ask that at first. And the gallery rule is if
- 4:59Speaker 2: there was a gallery, they'd find your ball, not you
- 5:02Speaker 2: might've hit it in the woods or not. Because if
- 5:04Speaker 2: you hit it, maybe you hit in the woods, it's
- 5:06Speaker 2: in the woods, the ball is lost. But if you
- 5:08Speaker 2: hit it in the middle and you can't find it,
- 5:09Speaker 2: there's just something weird happening. It's somewhere. So he's like, dude,
- 5:13Speaker 2: we saw you hit it in the middle. Just put
- 5:16Speaker 2: it down somewhere. And so I was like, okay. So
- 5:19Speaker 2: I put it down and he went up because he
- 5:21Speaker 2: hits it a mile.
- 5:22Speaker 1: Oh, I'm sure he does.
- 5:23Speaker 4: Does he have a nice swing. We talked about a
- 5:25Speaker 4: little bit.
- 5:25Speaker 2: I can't remember fluid. Yeah, And he hadn't played much
- 5:29Speaker 2: five kids. He's tall, everything about him is athletic, good looking.
- 5:34Speaker 1: Yeah, Govin what okay?
- 5:37Speaker 2: And he's at his ball and he goes, hey, there's
- 5:41Speaker 2: a ball right in front of the green and the groom.
- 5:43Speaker 2: It's like a three hundred and seventy yard hole. And
- 5:45Speaker 2: I was I said, that's probably a range ball or something, goes,
- 5:47Speaker 2: I was playing one of those little soccer ball type things.
- 5:50Speaker 2: Always it looks like a soccer ball in no way.
- 5:55Speaker 2: So I hit my ball and it wasn't a great jot.
- 5:57Speaker 2: It was like fringe right from where I was.
- 5:59Speaker 1: It was like one it was your provisional because you thought,
- 6:02Speaker 1: no way, that was yours.
- 6:03Speaker 2: Not a provisional one. I dropped but didn't count as
- 6:06Speaker 2: a drop because the gallery rules.
- 6:08Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:08Speaker 2: And so then I was walking up to it and
- 6:09Speaker 2: it was my soccer ball right by the green, which
- 6:11Speaker 2: meant my drive would add to be like three hundred
- 6:13Speaker 2: and seventy five yards, except hits carpath, sure, because the
- 6:17Speaker 2: carpath then cuts in the middle of the faraway like
- 6:20Speaker 2: and it hit the carpath, roll all the way down
- 6:21Speaker 2: and rolled off. Yeah, so that drive yeah, really three
- 6:25Speaker 2: and seventy yards.
- 6:26Speaker 1: But they counted too, Like if you google, like what's
- 6:28Speaker 1: the longest driving a PGA tour event, and I'll tell you,
- 6:31Speaker 1: and it's of course they hit the carpath like twenty times,
- 6:34Speaker 1: that counts. Yeah, I mean wherever it lies, and then
- 6:37Speaker 1: that's how long the drive is.
- 6:40Speaker 2: Huh you think there'd be a rule where it wouldn't
- 6:42Speaker 2: count for like the records.
- 6:43Speaker 1: Do you know that there's only been one I want
- 6:47Speaker 1: to mess this up one uh hole in one on
- 6:53Speaker 1: a par four, only one in tour history.
- 6:58Speaker 2: I don't know how I feel about that, because at
- 7:00Speaker 2: first I would go, yeah, well, of course because par
- 7:02Speaker 2: four's but then there are some really short par fours,
- 7:05Speaker 2: yeah that the guys do drive.
- 7:06Speaker 1: Yeah, they can do that.
- 7:08Speaker 2: So I guess I'm just that's interesting. I guess I
- 7:10Speaker 2: don't feel any way about it.
- 7:12Speaker 4: Yeah, when I searched it, yeah, two thousand and one. Yeah, yeah,
- 7:15Speaker 4: Andrew McGhee.
- 7:16Speaker 1: My kids make me google the dumbest things.
- 7:19Speaker 2: Ever, you go minus three on one hole, how about that?
- 7:22Speaker 1: Let's get the and I bet he didn't even win
- 7:24Speaker 1: the tournament.
- 7:25Speaker 4: I mean, you ever heard of Andrew McGee?
- 7:26Speaker 1: Never?
- 7:27Speaker 2: Yeah, I looked up the Ryan Fox thing because I said,
- 7:30Speaker 2: what I saw about him is either he played slow
- 7:31Speaker 2: or fast. I didn't know. I just knew his pace was.
- 7:34Speaker 2: Apparently he's a really really fast player. Het the ball
- 7:36Speaker 2: and hits.
- 7:36Speaker 1: It and just hits it.
- 7:37Speaker 2: No practice.
- 7:37Speaker 6: He was like, I got to play.
- 7:38Speaker 2: Yeah, just get up, hit it and move on.
- 7:41Speaker 1: That's funny. I have one kid that takes ten practice
- 7:43Speaker 1: wings and the other one no practice wings.
- 7:45Speaker 2: Your kids still playing a lot of golf?
- 7:46Speaker 1: Yeah, they love it.
- 7:47Speaker 2: Do you ever ship them out with just those two?
- 7:48Speaker 2: Digest your kids?
- 7:50Speaker 1: So yeah. So the other day, my twelve year old
- 7:54Speaker 1: was like, Hey, a couple of my friends are gonna
- 7:55Speaker 1: go play. They have a tea time at like two o'clock.
- 7:58Speaker 1: Can you just drop me off and I can play
- 7:59Speaker 1: with him? Yeh, no problem. So I took him. I
- 8:01Speaker 1: dropped him off and it was a threesome. And then
- 8:04Speaker 1: about like fifteen minutes later, I called to check in, like, hey,
- 8:07Speaker 1: did you guys tea off? Like what hold you guys on?
- 8:09Speaker 1: He's like, oh yeah, we're on whole three. Everything's good.
- 8:11Speaker 1: They teamed us up with some man, so he's playing
- 8:14Speaker 1: with us. I'm like, what, that's weird. And I and
- 8:16Speaker 1: I had him one speaker, and my wife's like, they
- 8:18Speaker 1: teat him up with a man, like who is this man?
- 8:22Speaker 1: So she starts freaking out, but I'm like, it's okay,
- 8:25Speaker 1: Like it's golf, like that happens. You know, if there's
- 8:27Speaker 1: threeesome going out, they'll throw a random in there with
- 8:30Speaker 1: twelve year olds.
- 8:31Speaker 6: Though I thought it was kind of weird.
- 8:34Speaker 2: Yeah, kind of weird. And I bet you they only
- 8:36Speaker 2: did that if it was packed that day. Huh yeah,
- 8:39Speaker 2: Like why is that a pack day? Because otherwise don't
- 8:41Speaker 2: you just let the one go after the three?
- 8:43Speaker 1: This course is like known to just like you can
- 8:46Speaker 1: show up and if there's room, they'll throw you in.
- 8:49Speaker 1: So like, cause I do that sometimes. I'm usually the
- 8:51Speaker 1: three kids. No, they've never put me with kids. I've
- 8:54Speaker 1: played with college students before, fine, which is totally different.
- 8:57Speaker 2: It's weird. It is kind of weird with twelve year
- 8:58Speaker 2: old You're right, yeah, it's not pedo weird.
- 9:01Speaker 1: Well, my wife was like pedo, like, do we need
- 9:04Speaker 1: to pick him up?
- 9:04Speaker 4: Even if you're that guy?
- 9:05Speaker 5: Though?
- 9:05Speaker 4: Are you like, go ahead?
- 9:07Speaker 2: Guys? I wouldn't want to play.
- 9:08Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, like al wait, you guys go ahead, I'll
- 9:10Speaker 4: be behind or whatever. Let me go first one of
- 9:12Speaker 4: the two.
- 9:13Speaker 1: So I had all these questions when I picked him up, like, well,
- 9:15Speaker 1: so who was this Guy's like, ah, I don't know.
- 9:18Speaker 2: Probably like Epstein Bill.
- 9:22Speaker 1: He goes, they're like, probably old. He was older than you,
- 9:25Speaker 1: you know, like older than you.
- 9:27Speaker 2: I think it's okay if you're like sixty plus though
- 9:29Speaker 2: too fair.
- 9:31Speaker 1: So and I said, was he good? He's like he
- 9:33Speaker 1: was okay. But here's the thing. He made us all
- 9:35Speaker 1: tea off from the Blues and I'm like, you guys
- 9:38Speaker 1: are twelve? He said yeah, He's like, are you guys
- 9:41Speaker 1: girls or men? So he made him play from the
- 9:45Speaker 1: Blue Teeth.
- 9:46Speaker 6: That's all.
- 9:47Speaker 1: That's funny.
- 9:49Speaker 2: I wouldn't have if I were to them, but that's funny. Yeah,
- 9:51Speaker 2: but they did play from the blis.
- 9:52Speaker 1: He's like, dad, I played so bad because I couldn't
- 9:54Speaker 1: get to the green in like four shots.
- 9:57Speaker 2: Yeah, they didn't have like a leader amongst the thirty
- 9:58Speaker 2: to be like oh, dude, shut up like one.
- 10:02Speaker 1: That's what I told my wife to him, Like they're fine.
- 10:03Speaker 1: They're all together, you know, like nothing bad is gonna happen.
- 10:07Speaker 1: They're all together. Like I'm sure they're they're good.
- 10:09Speaker 2: You see Pat mcafe's putting out of a countrysic album. Yeah,
- 10:12Speaker 2: I did.
- 10:13Speaker 4: I thought it was a joke at first, and then
- 10:15Speaker 4: I kept seeing it. I'm like, this is not a joke.
- 10:17Speaker 2: And then I saw a pictures I'm writing with Ernest.
- 10:19Speaker 4: I saw that picture.
- 10:20Speaker 1: Yeah, so then the songs are going to be pretty good.
- 10:22Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean, Ernest is a great writer. I don't
- 10:24Speaker 2: know who else he wrote with if it was all
- 10:26Speaker 2: with Ernest or Yeah, but he's gonna put out a record.
- 10:30Speaker 1: Well, it's like John Daly. You know, he's put out
- 10:31Speaker 1: a couple country records. I wrote one song on one
- 10:34Speaker 1: of his albums.
- 10:35Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 10:35Speaker 2: I mean, you have money, you just you just write
- 10:37Speaker 2: and record. I mean Pat McAfee, though, is like the
- 10:39Speaker 2: dude right now is kind of weird. I mean he's
- 10:42Speaker 2: I feel like people are unfairly going at Pat McAfee
- 10:44Speaker 2: right now.
- 10:45Speaker 4: Is the layoffs?
- 10:46Speaker 2: Yeah, and you saw the Ryan.
- 10:47Speaker 1: Clark Oh yeah, now that was a layoff right. That
- 10:50Speaker 1: wasn't firing.
- 10:51Speaker 2: That was a layoff. Now he got laid off a
- 10:56Speaker 2: day before pretty much everybody else did because he got
- 10:58Speaker 2: cut during that show.
- 10:59Speaker 1: That's what. But he said, it's like mid show they
- 11:01Speaker 1: got he got cut.
- 11:02Speaker 2: Weird situation. Somebody leaked it to OutKick. OutKick called ESPN
- 11:07Speaker 2: and said, hey, we just heard Ryan Clark is being fired.
- 11:10Speaker 2: We're going to give you an hour to respond to
- 11:11Speaker 2: us or we're going with it. ESPN goes, well, we
- 11:14Speaker 2: don't want him to hear about it in an article.
- 11:18Speaker 2: We have to tell him. He just happen to be
- 11:20Speaker 2: doing that show. They go tell him they let him go.
- 11:22Speaker 2: It was in the middle of the show. It wasn't
- 11:23Speaker 2: on camera. Someone walks up and whispers and while he's talking, producer, Yeah,
- 11:30Speaker 2: so he got let go. ESPN give it to the
- 11:32Speaker 2: Athletic real quick so they could break it instead of
- 11:34Speaker 2: out Kick. So Ryan Clark got let go, Karl Ravitch
- 11:37Speaker 2: got let go. I know a lot of people got
- 11:39Speaker 2: let go. And ESPN does layoffs every year. This was
- 11:42Speaker 2: a big one. Now where I think Pat McAfee is
- 11:45Speaker 2: unfairly taking the brunt of this is I don't know
- 11:49Speaker 2: if it's rumored or if that's what it is. He's
- 11:51Speaker 2: making sixty million dollars a year for his show, but
- 11:54Speaker 2: his show is not owned by ESPN. First of all,
- 11:58Speaker 2: it doesn't matter how much somebody makes. It doesn't have
- 12:00Speaker 2: to him anybody else. Like it's two different things. Yeah,
- 12:05Speaker 2: he should get everything he can get because that's what
- 12:07Speaker 2: we do. These other guys aren't negotiating their deal's worried
- 12:09Speaker 2: about other people producers making their money like it's it's
- 12:12Speaker 2: just not how this business works. You get what you
- 12:15Speaker 2: can get, and that's what you got. Because let's not
- 12:19Speaker 2: a true scenario. But Carl Ravage when he did his
- 12:21Speaker 2: last deal, I don't know, he's making a year a
- 12:23Speaker 2: couple million bucks a year. Well, if they're like going
- 12:25Speaker 2: to fire two production guys and Carl Ravage and making
- 12:29Speaker 2: two million bucks a year, but if they didn't pay
- 12:31Speaker 2: as much ticket he kept two production guys, call Ravage
- 12:33Speaker 2: doesn't go no, no, no, take my money and pay
- 12:36Speaker 2: the production guys. That that doesn't happen.
- 12:38Speaker 1: So does McAfee own his own show.
- 12:40Speaker 2: Yes, and ESPN basically leases it. Yeah, so, but when
- 12:45Speaker 2: they pay him that money, that sixty million, it's for
- 12:49Speaker 2: the show. It's for him to pay his co host,
- 12:51Speaker 2: it's for the technique, it's it's all of it. It's
- 12:54Speaker 2: for the entity. Now, some of that also could be
- 12:56Speaker 2: part of the money he's getting for doing Game Day
- 12:58Speaker 2: because he does work for them when he does that. Yeah,
- 13:01Speaker 2: so that's different. But for his show, and they're going
- 13:04Speaker 2: sixty million, they're paying that for the full, polished up product.
- 13:10Speaker 1: So is that let me see if this is a
- 13:11Speaker 1: fair comparison. So is that like Friends the TV show
- 13:14Speaker 1: or The Office? A company owns the office, right, like
- 13:18Speaker 1: a production company owns the office, then they lease it
- 13:22Speaker 1: or NBC pays for it to air. It is that
- 13:25Speaker 1: kind of the same.
- 13:26Speaker 2: Sure, NBC you can pay for like the rights to it,
- 13:29Speaker 2: But then those deals can be different to where the
- 13:32Speaker 2: network is then in charge of paying the actors, but
- 13:35Speaker 2: it can be paid through the production company.
- 13:37Speaker 1: You can pay to the actor specifically more complicated or like.
- 13:39Speaker 4: A script, like a movie script, like is he selling
- 13:42Speaker 4: his show to ESPN? My way off there?
- 13:45Speaker 2: I guess I don't just don't know what you're saying, Like.
- 13:47Speaker 4: When you have a script that you wrote and you
- 13:49Speaker 4: want to sell it to a Warner Brothers or something
- 13:52Speaker 4: like that, and you sell them that script for them
- 13:55Speaker 4: to make, but you also own the right to that movie.
- 13:58Speaker 2: So they're going to buy the script. The movie company is,
- 14:00Speaker 2: they're gonna pay for the right to the script. Yeah,
- 14:02Speaker 2: and then they're going to pay the actors. The movie
- 14:04Speaker 2: company is themselves. That production company is different. But for
- 14:08Speaker 2: the sake of this story, he's still making a crapload
- 14:11Speaker 2: of money, tens and tens and tens of millions of dollars.
- 14:15Speaker 2: But that's not his job to worry about what that
- 14:19Speaker 2: network is doing business wise. And so people if Pat
- 14:22Speaker 2: McAfee wasn't making all the money or best to keep
- 14:24Speaker 2: their job, you don't know that. You literally don't know
- 14:27Speaker 2: if that will be the case because one doesn't mean
- 14:30Speaker 2: the other one has to happen.
- 14:31Speaker 1: And what's going on with the NFL network.
- 14:34Speaker 2: That's that's interesting too. Well. Another story is like t
- 14:36Speaker 2: Bow got a new contract, right, it's not as big
- 14:38Speaker 2: as McAfee, so well, if t Bow were taking less money,
- 14:41Speaker 2: it could have saved they Those things don't work together
- 14:44Speaker 2: hand in hand like that. Now it can affect overall
- 14:47Speaker 2: spreadsheets and differences, but it's not tip for tat one
- 14:50Speaker 2: for the other. No, And it's a business. It's not
- 14:53Speaker 2: a huge it's a people have to run businesses. Yeah,
- 14:55Speaker 2: and they're doing what they it's not perfect good, Well,
- 14:58Speaker 2: they're doing what they think is best for the business
- 15:00Speaker 2: so they can keep their job. And can you make
- 15:02Speaker 2: in their money?
- 15:02Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 15:03Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 15:03Speaker 4: They think it's like the players that take pay cuts,
- 15:05Speaker 4: like a jaylen Brunson, like, oh, he's taking a pay
- 15:07Speaker 4: cut so his teammates can stay. Like they think it
- 15:09Speaker 4: works like that.
- 15:10Speaker 2: In the end, there's no salary cap in media, right exactly,
- 15:14Speaker 2: And they take pay cuts not because the team can
- 15:16Speaker 2: only afford so much. It's because there's a literal salary cap.
- 15:19Speaker 2: They're not allowed to spend more than that. So ESPN
- 15:25Speaker 2: owns NFL Network. They bought NFL Network. Now what NFL
- 15:29Speaker 2: Network NFL owns is ten percent of ESPN. YESPN, Yeah,
- 15:35Speaker 2: that's so that's that. So all the people that work
- 15:39Speaker 2: for NFL Network then became ESPN employees. So now ESPN's
- 15:44Speaker 2: got all these employees and they're going with too many employees,
- 15:49Speaker 2: so we've got to make cuts. And what I had
- 15:52Speaker 2: heard is what they were going to let contracts run
- 15:54Speaker 2: out and then just not renew them. But like Tom
- 15:57Speaker 2: Pelisar's Pelsario is awesome, and he had one year left
- 16:00Speaker 2: on his deal and so he got cut because he
- 16:02Speaker 2: was an NFL network guy that ended up being ESPN.
- 16:06Speaker 2: But media, everything's consolidating because it has to. There's layoffs
- 16:09Speaker 2: in our industry all the time. And we work for
- 16:13Speaker 2: the biggest company, so that one's louder than others because
- 16:15Speaker 2: it's more. But every it happens with every company it is.
- 16:19Speaker 2: It's very difficult. But what people are trying to do
- 16:21Speaker 2: now is do their own thing and own as much
- 16:24Speaker 2: as they can, so if it does happen, they have
- 16:27Speaker 2: a thing already built. Where Pat Pat McAfee did is
- 16:29Speaker 2: he started his own thing first.
- 16:31Speaker 4: Yeah, like Steven A.
- 16:32Speaker 2: Smith makes a ton of money to ESPN thirty forty
- 16:35Speaker 2: million dollars year whatever he makes, but he's also now
- 16:37Speaker 2: building his own thing as he's doing that, so that works.
- 16:42Speaker 2: But McAfee did that before.
- 16:44Speaker 4: Yes, before he got the ESPN. Yeah, yeah, so he
- 16:47Speaker 4: already had the foundation.
- 16:49Speaker 2: But Pat McAfee did not get Ryan Clark fired.
- 16:52Speaker 4: No, you said clip going around where he's like calling
- 16:56Speaker 4: Clark out, but it's from yeah, six years ago.
- 16:58Speaker 2: If Ryan Clark, well Ryan Clark. So why that clip
- 17:01Speaker 2: is so viral is because, again I'm just reading stories
- 17:05Speaker 2: and I'm just talking to people. I do have pretty
- 17:09Speaker 2: significant connections inside the sports media world, really good ones did.
- 17:15Speaker 2: I get to know a lot of stuff. And so
- 17:19Speaker 2: the thing that Ryan Clark really was putting a negative
- 17:23Speaker 2: light on was he was talking to Peter Schrager during
- 17:27Speaker 2: one of those shows. I don't think it was it
- 17:29Speaker 2: was good up yet and he was like, we didn't.
- 17:31Speaker 1: Play yeah, and then Treger got offended by that. Yeah,
- 17:38Speaker 1: it looked like they were fighting, but I feel like
- 17:39Speaker 1: that's an everyday thing on that show.
- 17:41Speaker 2: Yeah, but that one was a very unprofessional, immature way
- 17:46Speaker 2: to have that argument.
- 17:48Speaker 1: But man, you know, every athlete wants to say that,
- 17:51Speaker 1: but these non athlete commentators.
- 17:53Speaker 2: But it's really dumb because the best athletes are terrible
- 17:57Speaker 2: at knowing about the game because they were able to
- 18:00Speaker 2: just be athletic and dominate. So Michael Jordan wasn't a
- 18:02Speaker 2: good owner. It's why all the great coaches that were
- 18:05Speaker 2: athletes were scrubs or Division two players, because they had
- 18:08Speaker 2: to learn how to play it at a higher level
- 18:11Speaker 2: with limited physical tools and their minds because they weren't
- 18:16Speaker 2: a plus players. So when you get these guys that
- 18:18Speaker 2: are good, they're going, well, you didn't play well. Honestly,
- 18:20Speaker 2: if you're real good, it means you didn't have anyway.
- 18:24Speaker 2: That being said, he said he didn't play. Peter Striker's
- 18:26Speaker 2: really great at what he does.
- 18:27Speaker 1: He's good.
- 18:28Speaker 2: But it's you tell me, Okay, you can say it
- 18:30Speaker 2: to me, right, I get one the shows. I have
- 18:32Speaker 2: a big opinion. I'm like, you know what, I might
- 18:35Speaker 2: not be a chef or kill the cow, but I
- 18:38Speaker 2: can tell you a good freaking hamburger.
- 18:39Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 18:40Speaker 2: Like, it doesn't take that. There's an advantage to playing,
- 18:44Speaker 2: you know, a different part of it. But that happened,
- 18:47Speaker 2: real bad look on him, but it seemed like it
- 18:49Speaker 2: made him look like a dick. But there's an older
- 18:52Speaker 2: clip that Kevin's talking about where he was kind of
- 18:54Speaker 2: doing that about sam punters and kickers weren't players. If
- 18:57Speaker 2: Pat McAfee had him on this one, mcv was doing
- 18:59Speaker 2: his podcast from the black room. In the dark room,
- 19:00Speaker 2: yeah yeah, And McAfee's like, okay, so if you say
- 19:02Speaker 2: players like you ever thrown a touchdown pass? And he's like, no, no, no,
- 19:05Speaker 2: it's okay. Okay, you have a run one in. It's
- 19:08Speaker 2: like no, no, no, no, you ever whatever whatever, And
- 19:11Speaker 2: he goes, no, no, no, he goes, I have I've
- 19:13Speaker 2: thrown a touchdown, I've run one in. So by your logic,
- 19:16Speaker 2: I'm more full player than you are. And they were
- 19:19Speaker 2: having a good time with them. Yeah, but that's what's up.
- 19:23Speaker 4: That's just the Internet like just bringing something back, some
- 19:26Speaker 4: old back that like people will think what's relevant now
- 19:28Speaker 4: and like it just happened when it just didn't.
- 19:30Speaker 2: It's like the Taylor Swift clips that get brought up
- 19:32Speaker 2: on me from whenever she was in fifteen years ago
- 19:36Speaker 2: and with no context soever, none whatsoever, And I'm like,
- 19:39Speaker 2: you poison them cookies or yeah whatever whatever it was,
- 19:43Speaker 2: and people have no idea.
- 19:44Speaker 4: Have you seen these, Kevin, No, what are you talking about?
- 19:47Speaker 2: I get them sent to me all the time. People
- 19:48Speaker 2: like you treat a Taylor like crap, but there's no
- 19:50Speaker 2: context about it, and she's just funny and fine. We
- 19:53Speaker 2: had her and I had a good relationship. But if
- 19:56Speaker 2: you just see the clip, well you know how I
- 19:59Speaker 2: interview you anyway, like if I know them, yeah, we
- 20:02Speaker 2: pick at each other, but you didn't know that and
- 20:05Speaker 2: so people are always look at how he treated her,
- 20:08Speaker 2: and so I don't mind it because I like the
- 20:10Speaker 2: engagement and I don't look like a huge dick to
- 20:13Speaker 2: the kind of a dick.
- 20:14Speaker 1: Yeah, you don't look like a huge And it's hard
- 20:17Speaker 1: for me because I was there. I saw the whole
- 20:19Speaker 1: conversation and there was nothing crazy about it.
- 20:21Speaker 2: And there were multi I mean, and I knew her
- 20:24Speaker 2: when she was here. I knew her a little more
- 20:26Speaker 2: than just coming in on the show.
- 20:28Speaker 4: Yeah, you saw her and had a little bit of
- 20:30Speaker 4: a relationship as far as like a friendship outside of
- 20:32Speaker 4: the show.
- 20:33Speaker 2: Yeah, so I felt like I could kid around with
- 20:34Speaker 2: her and that's what it was. Yes, But it's that
- 20:37Speaker 2: and the Internet keeps bringing that up. It gets fat
- 20:39Speaker 2: people all the time.
- 20:40Speaker 1: Without Ryan Clark clip though, I mean, it's like, this
- 20:43Speaker 1: is the clip that got him fired, and I'm like, okay.
- 20:45Speaker 4: Guys, so that was almost a year ago.
- 20:47Speaker 2: It is the clip though, that probably puts some negative,
- 20:49Speaker 2: for sure, taste in people's mouth because that I don't
- 20:52Speaker 2: mind the debating even if, cause that's what those shows are.
- 20:55Speaker 2: Yell at each other, yeah, Skip yelling at freaking steven A,
- 20:58Speaker 2: yelling at Shannon is yelling whoever's on that show in
- 21:01Speaker 2: the morning now. But that was a that was like
- 21:03Speaker 2: low blow.
- 21:04Speaker 1: I s where I've seen like one of the MBA
- 21:07Speaker 1: of the you know, Kenny or Chuck or one of
- 21:11Speaker 1: those guys telling Ernie like no offense, but you didn't play,
- 21:14Speaker 1: or like somebody like that. I've heard that so many
- 21:16Speaker 1: times and I get it, Like there are some things
- 21:19Speaker 1: I'm sure players are like you don't understand because you've
- 21:21Speaker 1: never been in a locker room during a championship game.
- 21:24Speaker 2: And I would think like a locker room dynamic thing
- 21:26Speaker 2: would be fair, but you still don't say that. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 21:31Speaker 2: but if you're like breaking down tape and you're comparing
- 21:34Speaker 2: what I think there are nerds, and I'm a nerd
- 21:37Speaker 2: in a lot of ways on a lot of things
- 21:38Speaker 2: that actually know more than people who used to play.
- 21:41Speaker 4: Yeah, it's just it's like an insecure thing to me.
- 21:44Speaker 4: That's how I look at it, Like I don't know
- 21:45Speaker 4: what they'll say, so I'm gonna say you didn't play.
- 21:47Speaker 4: You have no idea, like you don't have an argument,
- 21:49Speaker 4: or like you don't know anything about music because you
- 21:51Speaker 4: don't even know how to play the guitar or whatever.
- 21:53Speaker 1: You call it acoustics.
- 21:54Speaker 2: So yeah, acoustic guitar.
- 21:57Speaker 6: Idiot.
- 21:58Speaker 4: I brought that up to play away. I was like,
- 21:59Speaker 4: how do you say this kind of guitar short of
- 22:00Speaker 4: a picture? And she's like acoustic. I'm like, dang.
- 22:05Speaker 2: One of my favorite coaches in college football, Eli Drinkwitz,
- 22:08Speaker 2: University of Missouri, and I talk to him. Coming up
- 22:10Speaker 2: in just a second. All right, let's take a break.
- 22:13Speaker 2: All right, I want to bring in which, by the way,
- 22:15Speaker 2: I did my power ranking of favorite SEC coaches this year.
- 22:18Speaker 2: For the first time ever, you're number one coach favorite
- 22:21Speaker 2: SEC coach. You're number one here is Yes, coach Eli Drinkwitz,
- 22:26Speaker 2: your number one. Congratulations. How do you feel about that award?
- 22:28Speaker 5: Actually, that's one of the highlights of my career so far.
- 22:31Speaker 5: I mean to be on the Bobby Bones number one ranking.
- 22:34Speaker 5: I think it's probably because we're both from the said
- 22:36Speaker 5: Arkansas but means a lot to me, for sure.
- 22:39Speaker 2: I'm going to bleep out this number. But coach, this
- 22:41Speaker 2: is a real question, and I mean this seriously. I'm
- 22:42Speaker 2: going to bleep out the number though, so it's not
- 22:44Speaker 2: going to hit Let's say there was someone who gave
- 22:48Speaker 2: the program over the last few years, would you like
- 22:51Speaker 2: treat them like, like ignore them in every way possible.
- 22:54Speaker 5: My gosh, I have lunch with somebody about once every
- 22:57Speaker 5: two weeks. It's done less than that. I mean, I
- 23:01Speaker 5: treat those guys. We've got a group called out of
- 23:03Speaker 5: the Tiger.
- 23:03Speaker 7: They do.
- 23:05Speaker 5: And bleep that number out, but well, we do a
- 23:11Speaker 5: weekly zoom call with them. We do a yearly event
- 23:15Speaker 5: for them.
- 23:17Speaker 2: So I mean ghosted like a check that you just
- 23:20Speaker 2: found out was crazy or something out there. It's a Yeah,
- 23:24Speaker 2: it's a weird relationship. I have found that donating makes
- 23:27Speaker 2: me like care more but also be like irritated but
- 23:31Speaker 2: also appreciate more. Like that's got to be a weird
- 23:35Speaker 2: negotiation with like your donors right to make them feel loved,
- 23:38Speaker 2: like even if things aren't going right.
- 23:39Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, honestly, it's created a totally different relationship
- 23:43Speaker 5: with your guys, just because honestly, when I lose, I
- 23:48Speaker 5: feel very down, you know, and I feel like I've
- 23:50Speaker 5: disappointed them and have a little bit of shame to that.
- 23:53Speaker 5: And so then you know, it's like, how do you
- 23:55Speaker 5: reintroduce yourself to that conversation with those guys when or
- 24:00Speaker 5: if the players not playing very well, Like you know,
- 24:02Speaker 5: we had a situation what we called and you know,
- 24:05Speaker 5: really wanted to get a certain player and then he
- 24:08Speaker 5: didn't perform the way we wanted him to perform. And
- 24:11Speaker 5: you know, all those guys that shift in the money,
- 24:13Speaker 5: how do they feel about it?
- 24:15Speaker 7: So it's a it's a unique time and place for sure.
- 24:19Speaker 2: Do you ever have a relationship with the player and
- 24:20Speaker 2: the player doesn't you know, the injury's not out there
- 24:23Speaker 2: and you know the player's battling something, but it's not
- 24:25Speaker 2: being shared and you're seeing seeing them kind of get
- 24:27Speaker 2: raked over the calls and you're like, man, just isn't
- 24:29Speaker 2: fair because people don't know.
- 24:31Speaker 5: Yeah, actually happened with our quarterback last year. He was
- 24:35Speaker 5: battling some injuries, you know, just beat up from the
- 24:37Speaker 5: games and wasn't quite playing up to what he had
- 24:40Speaker 5: wanted to play or maybe the fans had expected him
- 24:43Speaker 5: to play. And so you know, he's getting some unfair criticism.
- 24:47Speaker 5: But it's a competitive advantage to not put it out there,
- 24:50Speaker 5: you know, from the other team knowing what he's battling.
- 24:54Speaker 5: So it's just one of those things that if you
- 24:57Speaker 5: allow your emotions and mindset to be dictated by social media,
- 25:01Speaker 5: you're always going to be in a funk. So you know,
- 25:05Speaker 5: we talk about ignoring the noise. It's harder now than ever,
- 25:08Speaker 5: but it's something that you have to find some application
- 25:11Speaker 5: for somehow.
- 25:12Speaker 2: Do you guys have a therapist that talks to the kids,
- 25:16Speaker 2: maybe not even about performance, but even things like social media.
- 25:20Speaker 7: Yeah, we do.
- 25:20Speaker 5: We constantly are going through mental performance coaches, people coming
- 25:25Speaker 5: in here visiting with our guys.
- 25:27Speaker 7: About mental health.
- 25:28Speaker 5: But we do have a mental performance coach who's actually
- 25:32Speaker 5: a professional golfer, professional golf mental performance coach too, and
- 25:37Speaker 5: he spends time with us and he does a really
- 25:39Speaker 5: good job of trying to communicate to our guys about
- 25:45Speaker 5: really more mental preparation, mental reps, but also that downside
- 25:54Speaker 5: of allowing other people to speak into your mindset.
- 25:57Speaker 2: And it's really not a one size fits all, right,
- 25:59Speaker 2: because everybody take success and failure differently, and so you
- 26:02Speaker 2: have to treat every player different, right, Yeah.
- 26:06Speaker 5: I mean that's the challenge too, right, Like I'll get
- 26:08Speaker 5: up in front of our team and I'll deliver what
- 26:10Speaker 5: I consider a bang out message, and I think I've
- 26:12Speaker 5: got everybody, and you go out two days later and
- 26:15Speaker 5: it's totally you know, five guys completely didn't listen or
- 26:18Speaker 5: not paying attention.
- 26:19Speaker 7: So yeah, everybody's different. Everybody mental health's different.
- 26:24Speaker 5: You know some people, you look at Baker Mayfield, he
- 26:26Speaker 5: loves talking trash. That's what gets him going. He likes
- 26:30Speaker 5: that back and forth to figure it out. You know,
- 26:32Speaker 5: there's other players that once they start talking trash, they
- 26:36Speaker 5: lose their focus and emotional control. So everybody's wired a
- 26:39Speaker 5: little bit different. You got to try to figure it out.
- 26:42Speaker 5: Luther Burden was one that when he was talking trash,
- 26:45Speaker 5: just getting the ball if somebody else talked trash to him,
- 26:48Speaker 5: just getting the ball because he was fixing to do
- 26:50Speaker 5: something electric. But I've got other guys that, you know,
- 26:53Speaker 5: they just can't quite handle that same conversation.
- 26:56Speaker 2: Were you able to keep up with Luther as rookie
- 26:58Speaker 2: er last year at all?
- 27:00Speaker 5: Oh? Yeah, yeah, In fact, I keep up with Luther.
- 27:02Speaker 5: He just got engaged to his longtime girlfriend Kendall. He's
- 27:05Speaker 5: had a heck of an off season. Yeah, we stay
- 27:09Speaker 5: in touch. We're pretty close and in fact, you know,
- 27:11Speaker 5: Coach Johnson had sent me multiple texts throughout the year,
- 27:14Speaker 5: just really proud of the growth that he had shown
- 27:17Speaker 5: in the development that he's had as a player.
- 27:20Speaker 2: What is your philosophy on recruiting freshman.
- 27:23Speaker 5: I think you're still We're still a developmental program and
- 27:27Speaker 5: the quickest way to retain NFL players is to recruit them.
- 27:33Speaker 7: But also understand, you know, at programs.
- 27:36Speaker 5: Like the University of Missouri, you're you're probably not going
- 27:38Speaker 5: to go sign a top five class, So you've got
- 27:40Speaker 5: to be able to what we call rusty trucks. You
- 27:44Speaker 5: want to go get some rusty truck type players who
- 27:46Speaker 5: are developmental players. Play for the love of the game,
- 27:48Speaker 5: play for the love of the Oval Tiger. Just want
- 27:50Speaker 5: to be a Missouri Tiger, grow and develop into a player,
- 27:54Speaker 5: and then save some money for the transfer portal and
- 27:58Speaker 5: figure out if you can get sobody who maybe doesn't
- 28:01Speaker 5: have all the size and skill that the NFL was
- 28:06Speaker 5: looking for, but develops that while they were, you know,
- 28:10Speaker 5: at a different school, and try to get those guys. So, man,
- 28:14Speaker 5: it's a tough combination right now. You know, you look
- 28:17Speaker 5: at the five stars right now, and the price that
- 28:20Speaker 5: you have to pay to get them variable with that
- 28:25Speaker 5: if they do or don't play earlier in the career.
- 28:27Speaker 5: You know, we've done some four and five star studies
- 28:30Speaker 5: of our own program, and if those guys don't play
- 28:33Speaker 5: in the first year, that's our highest risk for transfers.
- 28:36Speaker 5: So it's a real balancing act right now trying to
- 28:39Speaker 5: figure that out. And there's no real formula. There's just
- 28:42Speaker 5: we're now starting to get into some data points that
- 28:44Speaker 5: you can detect trends and make decisions based off that.
- 28:48Speaker 2: From where I sit just watching a bunch of games,
- 28:50Speaker 2: I would just not want to recruit many freshmen because
- 28:53Speaker 2: just that you're going to pay a lot of money
- 28:54Speaker 2: for a four or five star kid, and again, if
- 28:57Speaker 2: they don't get whatever play time based on hype they
- 29:01Speaker 2: feel they deserve or their parents deserve, they're going to leave.
- 29:03Speaker 2: So you basically just wasted a bunch of money invested
- 29:06Speaker 2: unsuccessful investment to a bunch of money for a kid
- 29:09Speaker 2: that's going to go somewhere else.
- 29:11Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, that's the risk you run. But the
- 29:15Speaker 5: inverse of that is also true. If you get a
- 29:18Speaker 5: four or five star and they do contribute and you're
- 29:21Speaker 5: able to retain them, then you're getting a guy who's
- 29:24Speaker 5: going to be a potential All sec All American NFL player.
- 29:29Speaker 5: So I think you have to figure out that balancing act.
- 29:32Speaker 5: You know, for us, Luther Burden was a risk worth taking.
- 29:35Speaker 5: Bretton Norfleet's been a guy that has been able to
- 29:38Speaker 5: play really at a high level. Donovan Alubadet is a
- 29:40Speaker 5: guy who was highly recruited. Marquis Grossiel as a guy
- 29:44Speaker 5: that was highly recruited. So we've had those success stories
- 29:48Speaker 5: of putting in the money, putting in the effort getting
- 29:51Speaker 5: those guys and then development.
- 29:53Speaker 7: We've also, you know, we've missed.
- 29:54Speaker 5: We signed the number one defense end in the country
- 29:57Speaker 5: who was a five star from the state. He left
- 30:00Speaker 5: after the first semester. So you know, there's both sides
- 30:03Speaker 5: of it. But if I do know this, trying to
- 30:09Speaker 5: sign a player out of the portal that has five
- 30:12Speaker 5: star ability and capabilities, you're going to break the bank
- 30:15Speaker 5: doing that too.
- 30:16Speaker 7: So it's you've got to figure out which one you
- 30:18Speaker 7: can do and afford.
- 30:19Speaker 2: Watching you guys last year and Matt Hardy was amazing
- 30:23Speaker 2: and so, but he can only do what he can
- 30:25Speaker 2: do if everybody else does what they can do, and
- 30:27Speaker 2: so it kind of it's a kind of precarious situation
- 30:29Speaker 2: because if you don't have the line and you don't
- 30:31Speaker 2: have the quarterback like he's not really able to flourish.
- 30:34Speaker 2: Do you expect the same kind of numbers from him?
- 30:37Speaker 2: Do you have the people that can make sure he's
- 30:38Speaker 2: able to run.
- 30:39Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 30:40Speaker 5: I feel very good about our offensive line. In fact,
- 30:42Speaker 5: I think we've greatly improved our offensive line. And it's
- 30:45Speaker 5: hard to say when you lost a third round draft
- 30:47Speaker 5: picked and a four year starter at center, But I
- 30:50Speaker 5: do think that you know, Dom Judice, who started arrest
- 30:54Speaker 5: for left guard last year, moves into center. I think
- 30:57Speaker 5: he's very capable of He's a great player, strong leader.
- 31:00Speaker 5: You know, we retained Kaden Green, who's a premier left
- 31:02Speaker 5: tackle in the country. We are right tackle and left
- 31:06Speaker 5: guard played for a significant time last year, and then
- 31:09Speaker 5: went out and got a couple of transfers who will
- 31:11Speaker 5: compete for the right tackle spot. So I think that
- 31:14Speaker 5: combination with two returning starters at tight end with Brett
- 31:18Speaker 5: Norfleet and Jordan Harris Jordan from Pine Bluff, Arkansas, I
- 31:23Speaker 5: think a mod's going to have every opportunity to do
- 31:26Speaker 5: what he did last year. Now, he did have two
- 31:28Speaker 5: three hundred yard games, you know that that's a pretty
- 31:31Speaker 5: remarkable thing to accomplish.
- 31:33Speaker 7: I'm not sure he'll.
- 31:33Speaker 5: Get two of those again, but he's going to have
- 31:37Speaker 5: every bit of capability to do that. I do anticipate
- 31:40Speaker 5: the biggest you know, the biggest challenge for us is
- 31:43Speaker 5: to improve at the quarterback position with not only fewer takeaways,
- 31:49Speaker 5: but increased the explosive plays. We haven't been able to
- 31:53Speaker 5: be as explosive as we need to be down the field,
- 31:56Speaker 5: and so bringing in Austin Simmons, you know, that's going
- 31:59Speaker 5: to be a huge part of whether or not a
- 32:02Speaker 5: Maud can be what he was last year.
- 32:04Speaker 2: So Simmons, in your mind, he's the guy to start.
- 32:08Speaker 5: Yeah, Yeah, Austin be our starter. He had a really
- 32:11Speaker 5: good spring. He's very capable. He's got as much arm
- 32:14Speaker 5: talent as anybody I've ever been around.
- 32:17Speaker 7: And now it's just about getting comfortable.
- 32:19Speaker 5: You know, one of the mistakes I made last year
- 32:21Speaker 5: was dragging out that quarterback competition and not really allowing
- 32:24Speaker 5: our team to get comfortable with the leadership in place.
- 32:27Speaker 5: And I think you know, when you have guys who've
- 32:31Speaker 5: been in the program multiple years and you have a
- 32:34Speaker 5: quarterback competition, I think.
- 32:35Speaker 7: It's a known quantity who those guys are and what
- 32:37Speaker 7: their leadership is.
- 32:38Speaker 5: When you're trying to do that out of the transfer portal,
- 32:41Speaker 5: I think you're putting those guys in the transfer portal
- 32:44Speaker 5: in a really bad spot.
- 32:45Speaker 7: And I didn't do the best that I could for
- 32:48Speaker 7: Bo last year and giving him an opportunity to lead
- 32:51Speaker 7: the team.
- 32:53Speaker 2: We just had a daughter four months ago, first first
- 32:55Speaker 2: kid for me, and so we had a little girl.
- 32:58Speaker 2: I know you have four four girls, right, I do? Okay,
- 33:03Speaker 2: what's up? What if I do well?
- 33:06Speaker 7: Is this the first child?
- 33:08Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 33:09Speaker 5: Oh man, you're in great shape. They're awesome. For the
- 33:12Speaker 5: first ten or twelve months. Honestly, all you can do
- 33:15Speaker 5: is change diapers and help your wife out. You're not
- 33:18Speaker 5: going to get real a whole lot of interaction. But
- 33:20Speaker 5: once they start smiling, it's over. Once they start smiling,
- 33:24Speaker 5: once they can start gibbering and feel like they're communicating
- 33:27Speaker 5: to you, you got the world by the tail. Honestly,
- 33:33Speaker 5: it's awesome.
- 33:34Speaker 7: Now. You know, I will tell you this.
- 33:37Speaker 5: You might want to put a little bit less money
- 33:39Speaker 5: into nil and a little bit more money, not really
- 33:42Speaker 5: into weddings. I was really concerned about weddings. But my
- 33:45Speaker 5: oldest daughter's sixteen now, and she's thinking about college, and man,
- 33:50Speaker 5: like these dorm rooms, those are exorbitant costs right now,
- 33:54Speaker 5: Like you can hire somebody to decorate a dorm room
- 33:56Speaker 5: for you. And like going to school sororities. It makes
- 34:01Speaker 5: a wedding look like a walk in the park.
- 34:03Speaker 2: Do they get free tuition? Tho if they go to Missouri?
- 34:07Speaker 7: I mean, now what they paid me and they ain't
- 34:09Speaker 7: giving me free tuition? Are you giving me?
- 34:11Speaker 2: I thought like, if you worked at the school, you
- 34:12Speaker 2: got free tuition.
- 34:14Speaker 7: We get we get a little bit of a discount.
- 34:16Speaker 7: I'm sure.
- 34:17Speaker 5: But you know, that's going to be the toughest recruiting
- 34:20Speaker 5: battle I've ever had, is trying to figure out.
- 34:23Speaker 7: If I can keep my sixteen year old at the
- 34:25Speaker 7: University of Missouri.
- 34:27Speaker 5: She actually went and toured the University of Arkansas last spring,
- 34:30Speaker 5: and she's got a couple other schools on her mind
- 34:32Speaker 5: that she wants to look at. So we got a
- 34:34Speaker 5: real battle on her hands. You know, that's that's an
- 34:38Speaker 5: interesting deal. I told them that I would only pay
- 34:42Speaker 5: for the school that I coach at or Arkansas Tech University.
- 34:46Speaker 5: Other than that, they have to get scholarships. Now, my
- 34:48Speaker 5: wife hasn't agreed to that same deal. But that's that's
- 34:51Speaker 5: what I'm going with right now.
- 34:52Speaker 2: Hey, Russell Bill's blown up. I don't know if you've
- 34:54Speaker 2: been back in a minute, but they got like Super Walmart.
- 34:57Speaker 2: Now it's got everything.
- 34:59Speaker 7: I mean, it blew up and the Waterburger went under.
- 35:01Speaker 2: I know that way. It's gone crazy. That it had
- 35:05Speaker 2: the one Waterburger forever in the state of Arkansas. I
- 35:07Speaker 2: was legendary to get That's where it was legendary. How
- 35:10Speaker 2: does Waburger go under anywhere?
- 35:12Speaker 7: I don't know.
- 35:13Speaker 5: I mean, I honestly thought about buying it and trying
- 35:15Speaker 5: to keep it rolling, but I didn't think that'd be
- 35:17Speaker 5: a good idea in Russellville if they knew I was
- 35:20Speaker 5: the owner.
- 35:20Speaker 7: Too many razorback fans.
- 35:22Speaker 2: You act like they just give you a bed, bath
- 35:24Speaker 2: and beyond ten percent off coupon to get your daughters
- 35:26Speaker 2: in school there.
- 35:26Speaker 6: I thought it was.
- 35:27Speaker 2: Something like the deal was a little better, like to
- 35:29Speaker 2: get your kid like wherever you worked.
- 35:34Speaker 7: Bed bath and beyond.
- 35:36Speaker 5: I thought it was like Cole's bucks Man they match,
- 35:38Speaker 5: you know, you get as coals dollars or something.
- 35:41Speaker 2: Do you kind of want your kids to go somewhere
- 35:43Speaker 2: farther though, so they can have an experience that's their own.
- 35:48Speaker 5: I think that's the biggest battle, right is I want
- 35:52Speaker 5: them to experience life outside of the shadow of their
- 35:54Speaker 5: dad being the head football coach. But you'll you're starting
- 35:58Speaker 5: to probably feel it now. I mean, part of the
- 36:02Speaker 5: reason I live and breathe is my kids, and it's
- 36:05Speaker 5: hard for me to come to grips with the fact
- 36:09Speaker 5: that they won't be in my you know, wouldn't be
- 36:11Speaker 5: you know, a mile or two from me, you know,
- 36:14Speaker 5: So that's the real challenge. I think one of the
- 36:17Speaker 5: books I read this past spring with the Five Types
- 36:21Speaker 5: of Wealth, and one of the challenges they bring to
- 36:23Speaker 5: you is that you know, from zero to eighteen is
- 36:26Speaker 5: the most time you're ever going to spend with your children,
- 36:28Speaker 5: and that's the hardest times of your life. That you
- 36:30Speaker 5: work and you think that you're saving up all this
- 36:33Speaker 5: money so that when you retire, you'll spend time with
- 36:35Speaker 5: your family and make it up to them, and that's
- 36:38Speaker 5: just not really the case.
- 36:39Speaker 7: So that kind of hit me in the face because
- 36:43Speaker 7: I spent so much of my time.
- 36:46Speaker 5: Not really being there for my girls, and now I've
- 36:49Speaker 5: really tried to be totally different. Like last Friday night,
- 36:52Speaker 5: I took my girls out fishing. We went catfishing at night.
- 36:54Speaker 5: I mean, just trying to make up as much time
- 36:56Speaker 5: as I can. So I can't imagine in two years
- 36:58Speaker 5: her being, you know, halfway across the country, well.
- 37:02Speaker 2: At Liasta Shows to Arkansas, that I'd just be a
- 37:05Speaker 2: little drive down the road.
- 37:06Speaker 7: Yeah, I ain't driving anywhere.
- 37:10Speaker 2: Just one more football thing. I was looking at your schedule.
- 37:13Speaker 2: Everybody's schedule in the SEC is hard, no doubt about it.
- 37:16Speaker 2: Your schedule kind of sucks, coach, that's all. You guys
- 37:18Speaker 2: got a doozy.
- 37:21Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 37:22Speaker 5: I mean I think I've looked through just about every
- 37:25Speaker 5: SEC schedule.
- 37:27Speaker 7: They're all difficult. It's so it is what it is.
- 37:31Speaker 5: I mean, I think we were ranked as the hardest
- 37:34Speaker 5: schedule in the SEC, you know, from the nine game schedule.
- 37:37Speaker 5: You know, I think we played basically five playoff teams,
- 37:41Speaker 5: which is good. You know. I think the best friend
- 37:43Speaker 5: of any quarterback is a good defense and run game,
- 37:46Speaker 5: which traditionally we've been able to do. I think our
- 37:48Speaker 5: quarterback's got plenty of arm talent, which is going to
- 37:51Speaker 5: mean it's gonna come down to one possession games in
- 37:53Speaker 5: two minute drives, so you know, we'll be right there,
- 37:57Speaker 5: have to catch a few breaks and see how it goes.
- 38:00Speaker 2: One of my good friends coaches Kansas, what do you
- 38:02Speaker 2: feel about Lance? Do you have any comment on him?
- 38:05Speaker 7: Man?
- 38:06Speaker 5: I like Lance. I got a tremendous amount of respect
- 38:09Speaker 5: for Lance. I think he's done a really good job there.
- 38:14Speaker 5: That's going to be a challenging game on you know,
- 38:17Speaker 5: the Friday, I think September eleventh.
- 38:22Speaker 7: But he's done a really good job.
- 38:24Speaker 2: Do you ever go to places, it's been my last question,
- 38:26Speaker 2: like other stadiums and go, dang, this is awesome, Like
- 38:29Speaker 2: I need to make a call so we can get
- 38:31Speaker 2: whatever this thing is like in technology they have.
- 38:36Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean I've done that quite a bit. When
- 38:38Speaker 5: we played in Columbia South Carolina I think in twenty
- 38:42Speaker 5: twenty four and they had their lights show to start
- 38:44Speaker 5: the fourth quarter, you know, I called Shane and said, hey,
- 38:47Speaker 5: what do y'all got there?
- 38:48Speaker 7: And then brought it back to our administration.
- 38:50Speaker 5: So absolutely, I think in this league, man, like, everybody's
- 38:56Speaker 5: trying to be on the cutting edge, and you're not
- 38:59Speaker 5: willing to figure out what everybody else is doing to
- 39:02Speaker 5: try to make it You know special. We kind of
- 39:04Speaker 5: did that at the University of Arkansas. I mean they
- 39:06Speaker 5: closed in their North End zone redid that the Broil Center,
- 39:11Speaker 5: and so that's what kind of gave us the idea of, Hey,
- 39:13Speaker 5: we really need to put in the new north End
- 39:16Speaker 5: Zone complex for us, which will be open this year.
- 39:18Speaker 7: So we're always trying to improve our condition.
- 39:22Speaker 6: Coach.
- 39:22Speaker 2: Always good to talk to you. I feel like we
- 39:24Speaker 2: did it about once a year. I do root for
- 39:25Speaker 2: you guys and so, and I do watch more Missouri
- 39:28Speaker 2: games than I should because I like you. And that's
- 39:30Speaker 2: all that matters, you know, just relationships. It's the relationships
- 39:33Speaker 2: we've we've we got along the way, isn't that right? Coach?
- 39:36Speaker 5: Absolutely, man, That's what it's all about. And look forward
- 39:39Speaker 5: to seeing you. Are you going to be at our game?
- 39:41Speaker 5: I think it's on October thirty first at Arkansas. I mean,
- 39:43Speaker 5: I'll give you a sideline pass if you want to
- 39:45Speaker 5: be on.
- 39:46Speaker 2: I might stand on there. I honestly might stand on
- 39:48Speaker 2: your sideline. With my relationship right now with the athletic
- 39:50Speaker 2: director up there at Arkansas, I might put on all
- 39:52Speaker 2: black and gold for that one game and just do
- 39:54Speaker 2: DX suck at the whole time.
- 39:57Speaker 7: Well, I don't know about the sucking.
- 39:58Speaker 2: Okay, all right, fair enough, more than fair.
- 40:00Speaker 5: You're more than welcome to get a sideline passed from us.
- 40:04Speaker 5: And I won't even require you to donate to our
- 40:06Speaker 5: nil I'll just do it out of the principle of
- 40:08Speaker 5: a great relationship and friendship.
- 40:09Speaker 2: You do out of the principal of trolling Arkansas. I
- 40:11Speaker 2: you ain't full of me. Coach, Hey cool? Okay, yeah maybe,
- 40:16Speaker 2: but there you go, coach, good to see you, good
- 40:19Speaker 2: luck and uh yeah, I'll be watching.
- 40:21Speaker 1: Thanks coach, and dad has left the building. Oh yeah,
- 40:28Speaker 1: it's just us boys. I was looking at this. Uh
- 40:32Speaker 1: do you see that the Chiefs are getting a new stadium.
- 40:35Speaker 4: I did.
- 40:35Speaker 1: There's like renderings of a new three billion dollars domed
- 40:39Speaker 1: stadium for the Kansas City Chiefs, which is crazy to
- 40:43Speaker 1: me that they're actually thinking about getting a dome. Yeah.
- 40:46Speaker 4: I don't think most fans are happy about that. Chiefs
- 40:49Speaker 4: fans why, because they love their arrow Well it's even
- 40:52Speaker 4: called arrowhead anymore. I think it's something named and then
- 40:55Speaker 4: airfielder gf GHA.
- 40:58Speaker 1: Anyway, you still you can't call it arrowhea anymore because
- 41:00Speaker 1: of that. I thought it's like the the that name stays,
- 41:04Speaker 1: but then sponsors change probably that.
- 41:08Speaker 4: I mean, that's good, We'll call it Arrowhead. Go ahead,
- 41:11Speaker 4: we'll call it Arrowhead because they love the atmosphere. I mean,
- 41:14Speaker 4: everyone knows the Chief Stadium as like the loudest stadium
- 41:16Speaker 4: in the NFL, or the maybe the Seahawks, and I
- 41:19Speaker 4: think being outdoors in the cold Kansas City and January
- 41:22Speaker 4: playoff time, they live for that. So now it's going
- 41:26Speaker 4: to be like this climate controlled stadium.
- 41:29Speaker 1: See look, this is what they said. So this is
- 41:31Speaker 1: a clark Hunt talking about it, saying that the intention
- 41:35Speaker 1: of the dome is to to the intentions to amplify
- 41:41Speaker 1: crowd noise by keeping it contained. It is going to
- 41:44Speaker 1: be a glass ceiling. But that noise that they're known
- 41:47Speaker 1: for is the whole strategy is to contain that noise,
- 41:50Speaker 1: which is I think is what's that number that they
- 41:52Speaker 1: always talk about.
- 41:53Speaker 4: The decibel? The decibel one something.
- 41:56Speaker 1: I had a number. I had a neighbor that had it, shoot,
- 42:00Speaker 1: had it written in her house.
- 42:01Speaker 4: She had a tattoo.
- 42:03Speaker 1: It was like there was like a neon chief sign
- 42:05Speaker 1: in her window and the underneath it was like whatever
- 42:07Speaker 1: one two one forty two point two decibels. They're proud
- 42:12Speaker 1: of that, so I guess the idea is to contain that.
- 42:15Speaker 1: And honestly, if all that sound is contained, they'd be
- 42:19Speaker 1: way louder.
- 42:20Speaker 4: I don't believe that.
- 42:21Speaker 6: That's not what it's about, right.
- 42:22Speaker 3: They want to host super Bowl exactly. You gotta have
- 42:25Speaker 3: Adobe to host the super Bowl. They want events to
- 42:27Speaker 3: come there and not be affected by the weather. They
- 42:30Speaker 3: don't care about the atmosphere.
- 42:31Speaker 1: You're saying, I got got Yeah, it's all about business.
- 42:35Speaker 3: Look at the one they're building here, right down the street.
- 42:36Speaker 3: They're building it so they can have concerts here. It
- 42:39Speaker 3: looks beautiful, so we could get WrestleMania here. It's not
- 42:42Speaker 3: about the environment. It's a business thing. It's just like restaurants.
- 42:45Speaker 3: You ever go to McDonald's Now, they all look the
- 42:47Speaker 3: exact same Yeah, so they can flip the building. You
- 42:49Speaker 3: go to a pizza hut, it doesn't look like that
- 42:51Speaker 3: old pizza hut building anymore. Yeah, they create it so
- 42:53Speaker 3: if they need to sell it down the line, they
- 42:55Speaker 3: all have to look the same same things. With all
- 42:57Speaker 3: these stadiums now, they all just have to kind of
- 42:59Speaker 3: have this uniform look. They don't care about atmosphere. They
- 43:02Speaker 3: care about what they can host in that building.
- 43:04Speaker 1: And Mike, you kind of killed it for me.
- 43:05Speaker 4: Dude, and I let them down. It's all sad.
- 43:07Speaker 1: No, you're telling me what Santa Claus dude. Gosh, yeah,
- 43:11Speaker 1: I guess so, I mean, I guess you're right. I mean,
- 43:13Speaker 1: it is all business. But it's just crazy though, because
- 43:17Speaker 1: some of these stadiums are known to be the outdoor stadium.
- 43:20Speaker 1: I mean, you know, the cheap Arrowhead forever has been like,
- 43:24Speaker 1: oh man, it's freaking cold, and Arrowhead there's gonna be snow,
- 43:28Speaker 1: like you know, I had a dome everything.
- 43:31Speaker 4: Now Packers, there's a few that are like even the
- 43:34Speaker 4: bills they're gonna be in that Domemills. Yep, that's gonna
- 43:36Speaker 4: be weird. It'll take some time, people will get used
- 43:38Speaker 4: to it like everything else, but it'll just gonna be weird.
- 43:41Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, anyway, so they're building three billion dollars too,
- 43:45Speaker 1: that's crazy.
- 43:45Speaker 3: I think they ever come out looking that good though,
- 43:46Speaker 3: because the renderings look cool, but I feel like once
- 43:49Speaker 3: they actually build them, they don't look as cool as
- 43:51Speaker 3: they're hyping them up to be.
- 43:53Speaker 1: You're right, the renderings always look cool. There are people
- 43:56Speaker 1: walking around and joined beers.
- 43:57Speaker 6: And everybody happy. They're like, Oh, this is gonna be
- 43:59Speaker 6: the best thing ever. They're like, that's all right.
- 44:01Speaker 1: I just thought of something that I saw yesterday I'd
- 44:04Speaker 1: never seen before. And call me a bad sports fan
- 44:06Speaker 1: if you knew about this and I did it. I
- 44:08Speaker 1: was watching the Cubs last night and they were doing
- 44:11Speaker 1: a cup snake. Have you ever seen this?
- 44:14Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 44:14Speaker 4: Outfield?
- 44:15Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I've never seen this before.
- 44:17Speaker 4: Wait, like at a Cubs game or ever. It was
- 44:19Speaker 4: at a Cubs I'm saying, have you never seen it?
- 44:21Speaker 4: As ever?
- 44:22Speaker 1: Ever, I've never seen a cup snake before?
- 44:25Speaker 6: Have you, Mike, No, I know what you're talking about.
- 44:27Speaker 1: Okay. So it's like everybody gets their beer cups, I'm
- 44:30Speaker 1: talking everyone, and they try to make a snake out
- 44:33Speaker 1: of them. Okay, And this thing was covering the whole section.
- 44:38Speaker 1: It must have been thousands and thousands of cups and
- 44:41Speaker 1: it was kind of falling apart. So it takes everyone
- 44:43Speaker 1: in the stadium to kind of, you know, piece everything together.
- 44:47Speaker 1: It was the coolest thing I've ever seen.
- 44:48Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 44:48Speaker 4: Like it's got that shape of a snake where it's
- 44:50Speaker 4: like a big old s and it just curves and
- 44:52Speaker 4: curves and then if finally I think we'll break off
- 44:54Speaker 4: and everyone oh no.
- 44:56Speaker 1: And you think about it and it's a lot of
- 44:59Speaker 1: cups because every cup takes this much, yeah, you know,
- 45:03Speaker 1: like an inch, and then it's just like cup after
- 45:06Speaker 1: cup after cup. Pretty impressive. Yeah.
- 45:08Speaker 4: I think about a lot of beer.
- 45:10Speaker 3: I think about how expensive it is, fourteen bucks of beer.
- 45:14Speaker 1: Because beers ain't cheap. What's your favorite stadium that you've
- 45:17Speaker 1: been to.
- 45:18Speaker 4: Can we take we have to take bias out of this,
- 45:20Speaker 4: I assume or.
- 45:21Speaker 1: No, I mean not necessarily. It's your favorite of all time?
- 45:25Speaker 4: Okay, Fenway Park, I mean it's my favorite place ever.
- 45:30Speaker 1: Better than Gillette but oh god, yeah, yeah, what's wrong
- 45:32Speaker 1: with Gillette?
- 45:33Speaker 4: Ah, It's just like a normal football stadium. There's nothing
- 45:36Speaker 4: like crazy to it. I haven't been there since they
- 45:38Speaker 4: have that huge TV at Gillette a couple of years ago,
- 45:41Speaker 4: last year whenever they did install that. But there's just
- 45:44Speaker 4: something about Fenway where it's that, you know, it sounds cliche,
- 45:46Speaker 4: but you walk in you feel that like old history
- 45:50Speaker 4: in the ballpark. The seats are all tiny, the stadiums small,
- 45:53Speaker 4: like you feel like you're on top of the players,
- 45:55Speaker 4: the green Monster, the green Monster that you've seen growing up.
- 45:58Speaker 4: So it's just like this Fanny See Land. For me,
- 46:00Speaker 4: I mean, I've been to Europe multiple times. It's still
- 46:03Speaker 4: till this day. Fenwi Park my favorite place I've ever
- 46:05Speaker 4: been to in my favorite place to visit over Europe. Yeah,
- 46:09Speaker 4: I've been to the coliseum. Guess what, Fenily Park.
- 46:11Speaker 1: Over the Coliseum Colisseum. You know what did it for
- 46:14Speaker 1: me was the the what's the sign? Sitco?
- 46:17Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 46:17Speaker 1: For me that when I saw the sign for the
- 46:19Speaker 1: first time, I'm like, that's legit. Yeah, because I've always
- 46:22Speaker 1: seen it on TV and.
- 46:23Speaker 4: The old school that Coca Cola Cola bottles.
- 46:26Speaker 1: Yes, yes, I think for me it's probably I mean
- 46:31Speaker 1: I love Cowboys Stadium obviously, but I think of all time,
- 46:34Speaker 1: going into Wrigley is special almost the same way you
- 46:39Speaker 1: describe like, you know, it's like going back in time, dude.
- 46:42Speaker 1: Wriggly is like you expect to see al Capone there.
- 46:45Speaker 1: It's almost like they've done such a great job at
- 46:47Speaker 1: keeping it looking old. Yes, like because because it looks
- 46:51Speaker 1: like it's going to fall apart at any minute. But
- 46:53Speaker 1: I'm sure they've inspected it multiple times to where it's
- 46:56Speaker 1: not it's safe.
- 46:57Speaker 4: I remember I went there year and a half two
- 47:00Speaker 4: years ago. That was overrated.
- 47:02Speaker 1: Man, what do you mean?
- 47:03Speaker 4: Like I just I was waiting for that like nostalgic
- 47:06Speaker 4: feeling that you're talking about, that we're talking about with
- 47:08Speaker 4: Fenway too. Just never got it.
- 47:10Speaker 1: Maybe it's just too much hype for you.
- 47:12Speaker 4: Maybe, and maybe I like tried to like put it
- 47:16Speaker 4: up with Fenway and then me being a Red Sox fan,
- 47:18Speaker 4: like that's just unfair. Maybe I don't know. I just
- 47:20Speaker 4: it was cool, but it just felt like kind of
- 47:22Speaker 4: like another stadium to me.
- 47:23Speaker 1: And then you see the ivy on the wall, like yeah,
- 47:26Speaker 1: I love all that, and then the numbers that they
- 47:28Speaker 1: manually changed, which I think Fenway has too.
- 47:30Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, that is cool.
- 47:31Speaker 1: I agree, that's freaking awesome. Yeah, Mike, I feel like
- 47:34Speaker 1: you're a ballpark guy now, because like every time you
- 47:38Speaker 1: are to a ballpark guy now, every time you go
- 47:40Speaker 1: on vacation, you're like, I'm gonna go see a baseball
- 47:42Speaker 1: game in this city.
- 47:43Speaker 3: That is my wife and i's thing, art bucket list
- 47:45Speaker 3: thing is to go to every ballpark. And we're like
- 47:48Speaker 3: six in so we're still early on in it, But
- 47:50Speaker 3: we want to go see a game at every single ballpark.
- 47:53Speaker 6: What are your six We've been to a Diamondbacks game.
- 47:56Speaker 3: I love that stadium because it's right in the middle
- 47:58Speaker 3: of the desert, but it's it's like super hot, but then.
- 48:01Speaker 6: You get in there and it's nice and cool.
- 48:02Speaker 1: Yeah, that's weird.
- 48:03Speaker 6: I've been a.
- 48:04Speaker 3: Reds game, Braves, Yankees, Mets, White Sox, so I haven't
- 48:08Speaker 3: been to Wrigley.
- 48:09Speaker 1: And the Reds is the great American ballpark. I what
- 48:12Speaker 1: to call it? What was that?
- 48:13Speaker 2: Like?
- 48:13Speaker 6: Pretty generic?
- 48:14Speaker 3: Really kind of oldish, kind of just like there's not
- 48:18Speaker 3: a whole lot of characteristics that stick out about that park.
- 48:22Speaker 4: I've been to that one. I've now neither of I
- 48:24Speaker 4: I'm trying to think of the ones. You haven't been
- 48:26Speaker 4: to the New Rangers one.
- 48:28Speaker 6: I haven't been a New Rangers one.
- 48:29Speaker 5: Now.
- 48:29Speaker 3: I went to the old one. That's the first ever
- 48:30Speaker 3: sporting event I went to as a kid.
- 48:32Speaker 4: That old one is so cool. I love that one.
- 48:34Speaker 1: The old one was awesome, and I've been to the
- 48:36Speaker 1: new one and I feel like I feel like the
- 48:39Speaker 1: older one one is better, Like why build a newer one?
- 48:41Speaker 7: Went?
- 48:42Speaker 1: And the thing that's crazy it's literally right across the street.
- 48:44Speaker 6: Yeah, it's still there. They have concerts there all the time.
- 48:47Speaker 4: Aren't they going to build a hotel out of that?
- 48:48Speaker 4: I heard or something or that just all talk. Probably
- 48:51Speaker 4: the old one.
- 48:51Speaker 6: That is turn it into something.
- 48:53Speaker 4: Eh, yeah, that new one is. I went there the
- 48:56Speaker 4: first year is open, super nice.
- 48:57Speaker 1: Where do we go, Mike? What's that place called with
- 48:59Speaker 1: a big TV's next to it? Live? Oh?
- 49:02Speaker 6: Yeah, Texas Live.
- 49:03Speaker 1: Have you been? Yeah, dude, that place is awesome.
- 49:05Speaker 6: That's the best place to watch a game.
- 49:07Speaker 1: We went, Kevin, remember, yeah, you're there.
- 49:10Speaker 4: Remember in the Cowboys games they walked through with the drums.
- 49:13Speaker 4: Remember the drum line was.
- 49:14Speaker 2: That with you?
- 49:14Speaker 4: I've been twice? It was another one. Oh, the Cowboys
- 49:17Speaker 4: are playing that night and the drum line, Cowboys drum
- 49:19Speaker 4: line walks through Texas Live and they go to the stadium.
- 49:22Speaker 1: Wait, we went to the game though? Why did I
- 49:24Speaker 1: don't remember that?
- 49:25Speaker 4: Well, we went to the actual game, so maybe it
- 49:27Speaker 4: was the time I didn't go to the game but
- 49:29Speaker 4: they were playing.
- 49:29Speaker 1: Oh I don't know, because we did go to Dallas
- 49:32Speaker 1: together to go to the US went. Yeah.
- 49:34Speaker 2: Yeah, do you.
- 49:35Speaker 6: Remember that, Mic, Yeah, we went there.
- 49:37Speaker 1: Do you remember his story though about the drum line.
- 49:39Speaker 6: I remember people partying.
- 49:40Speaker 1: What are you talking about?
- 49:42Speaker 6: Times?
- 49:43Speaker 2: Was that?
- 49:43Speaker 4: Wait, we're talking about that? Did you dream that maybe.
- 49:48Speaker 1: Maybe what's going on with your leg?
- 49:50Speaker 4: Dude? I got an update. So first of all, in
- 49:54Speaker 4: our health system, and this is gonna be too long.
- 49:57Speaker 4: Our health system here is just crazy.
- 49:59Speaker 5: Man.
- 49:59Speaker 1: You got play some music.
- 50:01Speaker 4: I hate it. That's all I'm gonna say. Okay, just
- 50:03Speaker 4: to get an MRI. It took a week. I had
- 50:05Speaker 4: to call like fifty different people. But anyways, I got
- 50:07Speaker 4: the MRI and the doctor just messaged me about an
- 50:11Speaker 4: hour before we came on here with the results and
- 50:16Speaker 4: he said, this.
- 50:18Speaker 1: Is a live reading of the results.
- 50:19Speaker 6: No, you haven't ready yet.
- 50:20Speaker 1: Oh boy, No, I read it.
- 50:22Speaker 4: We gotta take the leg. Yeah, I read it.
- 50:23Speaker 1: Ye we got amputate.
- 50:25Speaker 6: He said.
- 50:26Speaker 4: It looks like I have a medial meniscous bucket handled
- 50:29Speaker 4: type of tear, which can certainly cause a lot of
- 50:32Speaker 4: pain and lock up your knee. I'm gonna have to
- 50:35Speaker 4: get orthopedic or a surgery, arthoscopic surgery like we talked
- 50:38Speaker 4: about last week, which is the best case scenario in
- 50:41Speaker 4: terms of it's quick, easy. You're walking on it on
- 50:44Speaker 4: the same day and they don't do any like invasive
- 50:46Speaker 4: surgery or anything. And so I got to call this
- 50:48Speaker 4: number today, which I'll do and make an appointment to
- 50:51Speaker 4: get the surgery and hopefully, uh move on. Man. So
- 50:55Speaker 4: it feels so much better than it did a week ago.
- 50:56Speaker 1: That's kind of happened. Half good news bad news because
- 50:59Speaker 1: I didn't know it was a tear. So they confirm
- 51:01Speaker 1: that it.
- 51:02Speaker 4: Is a terror. Yeah, they said it's to a meniscus
- 51:04Speaker 4: bucket handled tear, but no ACL damage.
- 51:07Speaker 2: Which is great.
- 51:08Speaker 1: That's good.
- 51:08Speaker 4: Yeah, that's really And.
- 51:10Speaker 1: So the surgery is gonna be like at the doctor's office.
- 51:12Speaker 1: You don't have to go into the hospital or anything.
- 51:14Speaker 4: Yeah, a little doctor. I guess they just scope it
- 51:15Speaker 4: out real quick and get in there and I don't know,
- 51:18Speaker 4: they're like it's forty five minutes and he's excellent, blah
- 51:21Speaker 4: blah blah. You're walking on in the same.
- 51:22Speaker 1: Day, dude. When they do things at doctor's offices, that
- 51:25Speaker 1: kind of freaks me out.
- 51:26Speaker 4: A little bit inside, Like not the hospital.
- 51:28Speaker 1: Yeah, Like I had had some something done with my
- 51:31Speaker 1: nose like a long time ago. It was like a
- 51:33Speaker 1: rotor ruter through my nose because I can only breathe
- 51:35Speaker 1: through one nostril. Random. But then they were like, all right,
- 51:39Speaker 1: it's gonna be just doctor, come to the doctor's office.
- 51:41Speaker 1: We'll do it there or whatever. And then some weird
- 51:42Speaker 1: dude comes in and that's the anatistaeologist. I'm like, what
- 51:46Speaker 1: they knocked me out and everything, and I'm just in
- 51:48Speaker 1: some dude's office. It's a weird feeling.
- 51:50Speaker 4: Yeah, that's a little weird, but.
- 51:52Speaker 1: I'm sure here's gonna be fine.
- 51:53Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't have to get knocked out. I don't
- 51:55Speaker 4: think actually I don't know. Nah, I don't think so
- 51:57Speaker 4: forty five.
- 51:57Speaker 1: Minutes you'd have to get knocked out.
- 51:59Speaker 4: What did they just like, numb you.
- 52:00Speaker 1: They're gonna cut your knee open, they have to knock
- 52:02Speaker 1: you out or else. Like you'd look at it, right, Mike.
- 52:05Speaker 3: Like you'd be like, I don't think they're gonna knock
- 52:07Speaker 3: them out for this. They said you'd leave the same.
- 52:09Speaker 4: Day, right, Yeah, let's bucket handle, Remember.
- 52:13Speaker 1: Dude, I think if they're gonna cut into you, they
- 52:15Speaker 1: have to knock you out.
- 52:16Speaker 4: But it's like, I think the difference between.
- 52:18Speaker 1: We are talking three just three doctors talking about.
- 52:22Speaker 4: Big surgery is like it's non invasive. Maybe I'm just
- 52:26Speaker 4: being optimistic here. Let's see.
- 52:29Speaker 6: I mean they might knock you out if you want to,
- 52:31Speaker 6: Like you asked to be knocked out.
- 52:34Speaker 4: Oh yeah, did you put you under?
- 52:35Speaker 1: Usually you knock me out and just do things to me.
- 52:37Speaker 1: Don't tell me what it is.
- 52:38Speaker 4: Just stay in your room. So we'll see. I'll schedule that.
- 52:43Speaker 4: But I'm going to Canada, so hopefully I don't make
- 52:45Speaker 4: it up. Find Canada, and hopefully I don't make it
- 52:49Speaker 4: any worse out there.
- 52:50Speaker 1: I heard you talking to Mike talking about you're going
- 52:51Speaker 1: to BAMF.
- 52:52Speaker 4: Yeah, we're gonna do that for a couple of days.
- 52:53Speaker 4: You go into a wedding my wife's best friends getting
- 52:55Speaker 4: married this weekend, and then we're like, might as well
- 52:57Speaker 4: while we're out there, say a couple extra days and
- 53:00Speaker 4: I will see BAMP, which would be cool. I've heard
- 53:02Speaker 4: nothing but great.
- 53:03Speaker 1: You're going to Alberta, Alberta, that's where you're going. Yeah,
- 53:06Speaker 1: and Mike, you're jealous or what?
- 53:07Speaker 3: Yeah, I've seen BAMP online and we were gonna go
- 53:09Speaker 3: last year. But it's kind of a hard trip to
- 53:11Speaker 3: get there. But it looks beautiful.
- 53:13Speaker 1: Is that the one that has like the clear blue
- 53:15Speaker 1: waters in the mountains. Oh, dang, I've seen those.
- 53:18Speaker 4: Yeah, so I'll send you pictures.
- 53:20Speaker 1: But you know what I've seen. I've seen the TikTok
- 53:22Speaker 1: videos where they say, like, just twenty minutes out of Nashville,
- 53:25Speaker 1: it's really bamp.
- 53:29Speaker 4: But Ray just sent me a video that somebody a
- 53:31Speaker 4: couple walking on the trails getting attacked by a bear
- 53:33Speaker 4: in bamf. So that's great.
- 53:34Speaker 1: You know what to do, right you see a bear?
- 53:37Speaker 4: Scare them off?
- 53:38Speaker 5: No?
- 53:39Speaker 1: Wait, what do you do? Mike?
- 53:40Speaker 6: If it's brown, lie down? If it's black, stand back?
- 53:44Speaker 1: What's you lie down?
- 53:47Speaker 2: Like you're dead?
- 53:48Speaker 6: Oh it's black? You fight back? There you go?
- 53:50Speaker 4: You fighting?
- 53:52Speaker 6: Are you anything that rhymes is true?
- 53:55Speaker 5: Mike?
- 53:55Speaker 1: I don't like that one. Dude.
- 53:58Speaker 6: You're good back yet.
- 54:00Speaker 4: You make yourself big for the white look at the light.
- 54:04Speaker 3: I haven't had a disadvantage though, because if you have
- 54:06Speaker 3: to run from it, you don't want to be this.
- 54:08Speaker 4: I know, I know. That's no trails for me.
- 54:11Speaker 1: I've never heard that before. That's what I'm not going
- 54:14Speaker 1: to use that one.
- 54:16Speaker 4: I'm not fighting no bear, dude.
- 54:17Speaker 1: All right, we're done. That was fun. Anything else, guys,
- 54:23Speaker 1: We're about to be here.
- 54:24Speaker 5: Man.
- 54:24Speaker 1: Oh I know my wife calling My wife goes football
- 54:28Speaker 1: like it's almost coming, like I know, And I told her,
- 54:30Speaker 1: like I'm excited. She's like, why are you excited? The
- 54:33Speaker 1: Cowboys are not going to be good and you do
- 54:36Speaker 1: this every single year, And I'm like, you don't know that.
- 54:38Speaker 1: You have no idea. Our offense is the same offense,
- 54:42Speaker 1: same dudes are coming back, Pickens lamb Dak Williams.
- 54:48Speaker 4: Yeah, great, And I feel like the Cowboys usually do
- 54:51Speaker 4: better when they don't have huge expectations.
- 54:54Speaker 1: Oh so don't so I shouldn't say that.
- 54:56Speaker 4: No, I'm saying like nationally, I mean, the Cowboys always
- 54:58Speaker 4: talked about but like when they're not coming in like, oh,
- 55:00Speaker 4: they're gonna get win it, but that division's wide open.
- 55:02Speaker 1: I know, dude. I'm excited. All right, Mike you good.
- 55:06Speaker 6: I mean, I just feel like it's our year, like
- 55:08Speaker 6: I really do. Like, I just feel like it's our year.
