- 0:01Speaker 1: Mark Marximon on seven to ten wor well with us
- 0:08Speaker 1: right now. The finest columnist in America, Michael Goodwin, his
- 0:12Speaker 1: column every Sunday and every Wednesday in the New York Post.
- 0:15Speaker 1: And you can read all of his columns. They're all
- 0:17Speaker 1: up on the New York Post website. Michael Goodwin. How
- 0:19Speaker 1: you doing, Good morning, Mark?
- 0:22Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 0:23Speaker 1: Hey. What a contrast President Trump making a powerful speech
- 0:26Speaker 1: about American exceptionalism versus Mom Donnie lecturing us about what
- 0:31Speaker 1: America means. What did you think of those two speeches?
- 0:36Speaker 3: Yeah, contrast is it's the right word. I mean, there's
- 0:39Speaker 3: like two different countries talking about But you know, Mark,
- 0:44Speaker 3: my own view of all this is how what an
- 0:50Speaker 3: extraordinary country we are and have been, you know, and
- 0:55Speaker 3: watching the parade of.
- 0:57Speaker 2: The talarships and whatnot.
- 0:59Speaker 3: And I was on NBC of all places, hardly a
- 1:04Speaker 3: favorite of the center or the right, but it really
- 1:10Speaker 3: was to me driven home by the sense that the
- 1:14Speaker 3: world benefited from America's independence, right, and of course through
- 1:22Speaker 3: our wars through the First World War the Second World War.
- 1:26Speaker 3: What would have happened to the world and America not
- 1:30Speaker 3: played as a leading role along with others. Of course,
- 1:34Speaker 3: but without America, the West would have lost both of
- 1:39Speaker 3: those wars. And yet, and so I saw all these
- 1:44Speaker 3: ships coming to dignitaries, the outpouring of American citizens as
- 1:50Speaker 3: something of a recollection and appreciation for America's place in mankind.
- 1:59Speaker 3: I mean, what the liberation, the independence movement started here
- 2:06Speaker 3: and spread around the world. I continue to spread. It's
- 2:11Speaker 3: not down yet. Obviously there's still a China government, there's
- 2:15Speaker 3: still Russians.
- 2:16Speaker 2: But and then the other places, Korea for the North Korea.
- 2:21Speaker 3: And yet America's impact on the world in the freedom alone,
- 2:27Speaker 3: but then the wealth creation right, the free speech, all
- 2:32Speaker 3: of these things have shaped mankind in ways that I
- 2:38Speaker 3: think I didn't I kind of knew, but didn't fully
- 2:41Speaker 3: appreciate until I saw this outpouring of adoration really for
- 2:48Speaker 3: America and forest birth.
- 2:52Speaker 1: Yeah, is it funny that we used to have to
- 2:55Speaker 1: go to Vietnam to fight communism? Now we've got to
- 2:57Speaker 1: do it in New York and Seattle. That's right.
- 3:01Speaker 3: We don't need a gun this time, but we can
- 3:03Speaker 3: just use the ballot box.
- 3:06Speaker 1: So what do you think the midterm elections? Could this
- 3:08Speaker 1: be the issue that determines the midterms? Communism versus democracy
- 3:12Speaker 1: could have come down to that by the fall.
- 3:16Speaker 3: Look, I think that's a very big undercurrent. Whether it
- 3:21Speaker 3: becomes the main current, I don't know yet. I think
- 3:25Speaker 3: it's hard too soon to say, because I think the
- 3:28Speaker 3: Iran war it still hangs over the President and the
- 3:32Speaker 3: Republicans in ways that are hard to reject predict.
- 3:36Speaker 2: I mean, there's no time for the permanent piece to
- 3:41Speaker 2: be made or for more war to be resumed. So
- 3:46Speaker 2: I think God is kind of the wild card at
- 3:49Speaker 2: this point.
- 3:50Speaker 1: Yeah, we're talking Michael Goodwin. If you watch those crazy
- 3:53Speaker 1: Sunday showt they go after the present for every single
- 3:55Speaker 1: thing he does, thinking the next one will bring him down.
- 4:00Speaker 1: They've already tried seventeen thousand things, and they keep thinking
- 4:03Speaker 1: the reflecting pool, the crypto, something will bring him down.
- 4:07Speaker 1: Shouldn't they just start to realize nothing's going to bring
- 4:09Speaker 1: him down, forget about him, just plan for the future
- 4:12Speaker 1: and find some candidates.
- 4:14Speaker 3: Yeah, look, this is what the left always does. It's
- 4:19Speaker 3: look some of his pure politics. He sees on your
- 4:23Speaker 3: opponent's weaknesses. And the difference here, of course, is the
- 4:29Speaker 3: media is doing the job of the Democratic Party. The
- 4:34Speaker 3: party doesn't so much stress things as it does repeat
- 4:39Speaker 3: the stories and the media spreads.
- 4:43Speaker 2: The media is.
- 4:44Speaker 3: A very important arm of the Democratic Party, particularly when
- 4:49Speaker 3: it comes to going negative against Donald Trump.
- 4:53Speaker 1: Yeah, so what do you think happens with mom Donnie.
- 4:57Speaker 1: I mean, as much as he all the horrible things
- 4:59Speaker 1: he says, he doesn't seem to do much. I mean
- 5:02Speaker 1: there's no grocery stores, there's no free buses. It just
- 5:05Speaker 1: seems to be all talked. Does that mean we'll easily
- 5:07Speaker 1: get through the next three years?
- 5:10Speaker 2: I don't think so.
- 5:11Speaker 3: I think the talk you mentioned Mark, I think is
- 5:18Speaker 3: it's a continual campaign for him. Of course, you had
- 5:22Speaker 3: his own victory, and now you have all the leftists,
- 5:26Speaker 3: the socialists being elected to state legislature and Congress, and
- 5:33Speaker 3: pretty soon it'll become nationalized. I think it's happening in
- 5:37Speaker 3: various parts across the country. So in some ways, Mom
- 5:42Speaker 3: Donnie is the leader of a new movement. Unfortunately he
- 5:48Speaker 3: picked up seem and picked up associates. But I still
- 5:53Speaker 3: don't think we have tested the corps, which is, can
- 5:58Speaker 3: he govern? Can he make things better for the ordinary citizen?
- 6:04Speaker 3: Not by providing a free government grocery store, but can
- 6:09Speaker 3: you keep this any safe? Can the schools go back
- 6:12Speaker 3: to teaching fundamentals instead of indoctrinating kids. So I think
- 6:19Speaker 3: the challenges, the real challenges are still ahead for him.
- 6:24Speaker 1: Yeah, well we'll see. Let's get to ram just for
- 6:29Speaker 1: a second. If you're watching these Sunday shows the networks,
- 6:33Speaker 1: it's we accomplished nothing in Iran. Truth as we crippled
- 6:37Speaker 1: their military, we've shut down their economy. When you bet,
- 6:42Speaker 1: then if you came back in a couple of months,
- 6:44Speaker 1: it will have worked out for us that Trump will
- 6:46Speaker 1: pull this off somehow, I hope.
- 6:49Speaker 3: So I think that's still a possibility. But you know
- 6:54Speaker 3: one factor, mark that someone mentioned to me the other day,
- 6:58Speaker 3: and I've been thinking long this same lines, which is
- 7:02Speaker 3: I don't think anybody in the Pentagon or the White
- 7:06Speaker 3: House really anticipated how much pain the Iranians would be
- 7:12Speaker 3: able to endure and not surrender. I mean, as you,
- 7:18Speaker 3: just as you said, we knocked out so much of
- 7:21Speaker 3: their military, so much of their military infrastructure.
- 7:26Speaker 2: And yet they have not surrendered.
- 7:28Speaker 3: They have not given up the p upon the Trump card,
- 7:34Speaker 3: the nuclear issue, and of course the missiles, and of
- 7:39Speaker 3: course the proxies Hamas Hezbollah, So they haven't really given
- 7:45Speaker 3: up anything that we went to war over. So that's
- 7:49Speaker 3: a remarkable thing that I think kind of clouds the
- 7:53Speaker 3: future of the outcome.
- 7:56Speaker 1: Yeah, well that's all true, but we kind of neutralized them.
- 8:00Speaker 1: Going to be launching any October seventh right now in
- 8:02Speaker 1: the condition they're in, are they No.
- 8:05Speaker 3: I think that's a good point. But we haven't. We
- 8:08Speaker 3: haven't freed their population. Uh, they're still They haven't given
- 8:14Speaker 3: up rhetorically even any of their you know kind of
- 8:20Speaker 3: chaos and their Islamic revolution. They haven't modernized anything out
- 8:26Speaker 3: their economy or their government.
- 8:28Speaker 2: So they were very achievable goals when the war started,
- 8:36Speaker 2: but they look less achievable now than they did then,
- 8:40Speaker 2: and that to me, I think, to me and to
- 8:43Speaker 2: a lot of other people, is probably a surprise.
- 8:46Speaker 1: Yeah, although you know, we got to keep a memory.
- 8:48Speaker 1: This is only a few months. This is not like
- 8:50Speaker 1: five years of the world.
- 8:51Speaker 2: You need two.
- 8:52Speaker 3: So, yeah, the seas Fire has lasted longer than the war,
- 8:55Speaker 3: So it's.
- 8:57Speaker 1: A few months. But Michael Goodwin, there was no column yesterday.
- 9:01Speaker 1: You ruined my whole weekend. Oh but Wednesday you'll be back.
- 9:07Speaker 2: I'll be all right.
- 9:08Speaker 1: You can read them wednesday in the New York Post.
- 9:10Speaker 1: Michael Goodwin brilliant as always. Thanks for being with us,
- 9:14Speaker 1: My pleasure. Thank you, Mark, take care. Hey, coming up,
- 9:17Speaker 1: we got a lot to get to. We'll get to Oh,
- 9:19Speaker 1: we didn't even mention the fireworks, the Macy's fireworks, the Washington,
- 9:24Speaker 1: DC fireworks. Now supposedly those are the biggest fireworks ever
- 9:27Speaker 1: in the history of America. Normally like Macy's fireworks, it's
- 9:31Speaker 1: like eighty thousand fireworks. DC was eight hundred thousand of them.
- 9:36Speaker 1: And if you live out in the suburbs, each town
- 9:39Speaker 1: did their own fireworks. It was like three It wasn't
- 9:43Speaker 1: much of anything, but they were pretty spectacular fireworks on TV.
- 9:48Speaker 1: But we'll get to that. Coming up. We'll get to
- 9:51Speaker 1: President Trump and big day to day for Wall Street.
- 9:54Speaker 1: He rang the opening bell first day of the Trump accounts.
- 9:57Speaker 1: We've got a lot to talk about, So don't go away.
- 10:00Speaker 1: Mark Simone here every day ten to noon, and then
- 10:03Speaker 1: at noon you got Buck Sexton and Clay Travis with
- 10:05Speaker 1: a great show every day. Then at three o'clock they'll
- 10:08Speaker 1: most listen to radio show in America. Sean Hannity, who
- 10:12Speaker 1: covered he listening today. He was there for the fireworks
- 10:15Speaker 1: both nights he was there at Mount Rushmore, he'll be
- 10:19Speaker 1: here today to talk about it. And then at six
- 10:21Speaker 1: o'clock he got Jesse Kelly. Then at nine o'clock, what
