Latest / Inside Country with Wayne D / Megan Moroney Shares Emotional Story on Fan Connection
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Wayne d catching up with somebody who has avoided us
- 0:02Speaker 1: because of alcohol consumption.
- 0:04Speaker 2: I'm kidding, that's not why. That's not why.
- 0:06Speaker 1: Megan n Rumors, Meg and Roney, welcome back to the studio.
- 0:09Speaker 3: Glad to have you, dear, good to see y'all.
- 0:12Speaker 1: I gotta ask because obviously you didn't just come out
- 0:16Speaker 1: with all pink. You made a statement like this is
- 0:18Speaker 1: part of my next era of my music?
- 0:20Speaker 2: Was that a goal to like.
- 0:23Speaker 1: Bring the colors with where you're at musically and like
- 0:26Speaker 1: to make it more of it's cool because it's not
- 0:29Speaker 1: just like here's my song.
- 0:30Speaker 2: It's kind of like, hey, here's a whole new era,
- 0:32Speaker 2: here's a new experience, right I yeah.
- 0:35Speaker 3: I think with Lucky it was just naturally green and gold.
- 0:39Speaker 3: So that was that kind of a thing. And I
- 0:40Speaker 3: think I realized during the miok era that people I
- 0:45Speaker 3: was associating colors with my albums, but so did other people,
- 0:48Speaker 3: So am I okay? I would say all the venues
- 0:51Speaker 3: were about ninety five percent blue, but there was little
- 0:55Speaker 3: spots of greens, like full head to toe green, and
- 0:58Speaker 3: I took that as okay. There like a Lucky like
- 1:01Speaker 3: number one fan of Lucky and am I okay? Is fine,
- 1:04Speaker 3: but they're here for lucky. So I think even just
- 1:07Speaker 3: seeing that last year, as soon as I got you know,
- 1:10Speaker 3: as soon as I put out am I okay to
- 1:12Speaker 3: everyone was like, so what's the next color? Are you
- 1:14Speaker 3: playing the next color? And it kind of just I
- 1:18Speaker 3: already saw colors when I wrote songs, but it even like,
- 1:20Speaker 3: I guess, ramped it up even more because I'm like, oh,
- 1:22Speaker 3: now everyone's waiting on the color. I gotta really decide this.
- 1:25Speaker 3: So about like three songs into writing Cloud nine, I
- 1:29Speaker 3: was like, it's pink.
- 1:31Speaker 2: Gotta be pink.
- 1:31Speaker 1: We're talking before we hear record here about my daughter
- 1:35Speaker 1: freaking out coming to the show. I was like, she
- 1:38Speaker 1: was like, oh, her new color is pink. And at
- 1:41Speaker 1: that point, which I should have known this already, this
- 1:43Speaker 1: being my job, I go her color, well, yeah, it's
- 1:46Speaker 1: new music, so a new color. And I go, that's cool,
- 1:50Speaker 1: I think, and she goes, it's very Taylor Swift vibes.
- 1:54Speaker 2: Is that that's a compliment, right.
- 1:56Speaker 1: Like, oh yeah, yeah, because she's done a great job
- 1:59Speaker 1: at making it more than just her music, making it
- 2:02Speaker 1: an experience. Has that always been the goal for you
- 2:05Speaker 1: to make it more than like, I don't just want
- 2:06Speaker 1: to be a song you listen to.
- 2:07Speaker 2: I want to be like a whole vibe for you.
- 2:10Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean I think that I always have my
- 2:13Speaker 3: hands in every single part of my career, so it
- 2:15Speaker 3: just kind of happens naturally. But yeah, I love that
- 2:19Speaker 3: her shows are like an experience. I think my shows
- 2:23Speaker 3: are like that too, But yeah, it's definitely a compliment.
- 2:26Speaker 1: Obviously, it's everyone's talking end of year, like here's the
- 2:30Speaker 1: most listened to, the most downloaded, the most streamed.
- 2:32Speaker 2: And all that.
- 2:33Speaker 1: We saw the massive takeover down the street here of
- 2:37Speaker 1: an entire building.
- 2:39Speaker 2: Streams.
- 2:41Speaker 1: It's a different platform than the IHEARTRADIOPP which you should download.
- 2:43Speaker 2: And used all the time.
- 2:45Speaker 1: But it's that side of the success because obviously you
- 2:49Speaker 1: write the songs and you want to perform for people,
- 2:51Speaker 1: and maybe you don't necessarily even think about the streaming
- 2:54Speaker 1: success that you could have or where people are getting
- 2:56Speaker 1: the music. When you see numbers like that you've done
- 2:59Speaker 1: this year, is it like, is there a little holy
- 3:02Speaker 1: shit there?
- 3:04Speaker 3: I think yeah, definitely, When you like, like I went
- 3:07Speaker 3: out and took pictures down there, and when you see
- 3:09Speaker 3: like that many streams, I'm like, definitely can't count that high.
- 3:12Speaker 3: So it's definitely cool, But I don't focus too much
- 3:16Speaker 3: on that because I I've learned from like some mentors
- 3:19Speaker 3: that like you never you've got to stay kind of
- 3:22Speaker 3: like even keeled throughout the whole thing, because when really
- 3:25Speaker 3: cool things happen like that, it's amazing. But that's not
- 3:28Speaker 3: always going to be the case. So as an artist,
- 3:30Speaker 3: I think isn't a creative just as a creative person,
- 3:33Speaker 3: it's better for me to just be like, okay, cool,
- 3:35Speaker 3: and then I keep it pushing, you know, Like I
- 3:38Speaker 3: think that says like when I see that, I'm like, oh,
- 3:41Speaker 3: I have the best fans in the world.
- 3:42Speaker 2: So when it comes to things that you chase for, like.
- 3:48Speaker 1: I don't want to say fulfillment, but like you have
- 3:50Speaker 1: goals like I want to get to this, right, I
- 3:52Speaker 1: want to get to this.
- 3:53Speaker 2: For a lot of artists, it's like.
- 3:54Speaker 1: Oh, I want Entertainers of the Year or I want
- 3:56Speaker 1: ACM here or CMA there, and they'll get to that
- 3:59Speaker 1: and go, oh wow, how I wanted more.
- 4:01Speaker 2: It didn't do what I thought it would do better. Right,
- 4:03Speaker 2: What are some of the.
- 4:03Speaker 1: Lessons you've already learned career wise that you're like, oh,
- 4:06Speaker 1: I want to get that, but you got there and you're.
- 4:08Speaker 2: Like, oh yeah.
- 4:10Speaker 3: I mean I think with any I always say like
- 4:12Speaker 3: winning awards is amazing and there's it's always nice to
- 4:15Speaker 3: be validated by the industry or whether it's fan voted,
- 4:20Speaker 3: whatever it is. Yeah, no one's ever going to be
- 4:22Speaker 3: mad about winning awards. But like I said, I think
- 4:25Speaker 3: it's like how you act when you don't win and
- 4:27Speaker 3: being like like, you can't be hard on yourself for that,
- 4:30Speaker 3: because what matters to me is like I write a
- 4:32Speaker 3: song like beautiful Things and I have dad's writing in
- 4:36Speaker 3: moms writing in kids themselves being like this song saved
- 4:39Speaker 3: my life and like that kind of stuff to me
- 4:41Speaker 3: is what makes me like grateful to be able to
- 4:44Speaker 3: do it. It makes me want to write more songs
- 4:46Speaker 3: like that, and it makes me I've always felt for
- 4:49Speaker 3: some reason that this was like my purpose, especially when
- 4:51Speaker 3: I first started writing songs that like where I would
- 4:54Speaker 3: get messages from people that are like, you know, I
- 4:57Speaker 3: wanted to die and the song helped me. And I'm like, like,
- 5:00Speaker 3: when you get into this, you don't know that you
- 5:02Speaker 3: have that kind of influence on people. So when you
- 5:04Speaker 3: do realize you have that influence. I think that's what
- 5:07Speaker 3: I prioritize. But goals wise, I have random goals like
- 5:11Speaker 3: I want to wax.
- 5:12Speaker 2: Figure that's that's dope actually.
- 5:15Speaker 3: And like randomly, I want a song that like gets
- 5:19Speaker 3: played in every like TJ Max, like every thirty minutes,
- 5:22Speaker 3: like like you know what I mean, random goals just
- 5:26Speaker 3: because I'd be like cool, you know.
- 5:28Speaker 2: Listen.
- 5:29Speaker 1: The other thing about that is because like all we've
- 5:31Speaker 1: gone through the grocery store. I live like thirty minutes
- 5:34Speaker 1: south here, so like I'll go to the grocery store
- 5:36Speaker 1: on a Saturday and a random jam comes on at
- 5:38Speaker 1: it's a Kroger. Like they could totally put out an
- 5:41Speaker 1: album and call it Kroger Cuts and.
- 5:43Speaker 2: I would buy the hell out of that.
- 5:44Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 5:45Speaker 2: Right, So like life goals, I.
- 5:46Speaker 3: Can find random stuff. But the main purpose I think
- 5:50Speaker 3: of all this is to just make music that I
- 5:53Speaker 3: experience things and obviously was given a gift of songwriting,
- 5:57Speaker 3: and so I want to use that in a way.
- 5:59Speaker 3: As long as I'm writing and being authentic, then I'm like,
- 6:02Speaker 3: the words are great, but I just really care about
- 6:05Speaker 3: touching people and helping them get through shit.
- 6:08Speaker 1: Well, so That's interesting because a lot of artists, and
- 6:11Speaker 1: I'm not saying you in general, but I'm generalizing a
- 6:15Speaker 1: songwriter like just want to write songs. Yeah, you got feelings,
- 6:18Speaker 1: you got words. They end up melting together beautifully. I'd
- 6:22Speaker 1: imagine the goal wasn't always like I just want to
- 6:24Speaker 1: make people feel something. Right, If it wasn't, at what
- 6:27Speaker 1: point you talk about, you know, the songs connecting and
- 6:31Speaker 1: saving lives.
- 6:31Speaker 2: At what point we were like, oh, this is bigger
- 6:33Speaker 2: than I thought it would be.
- 6:36Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean at first, I was just writing songs
- 6:38Speaker 3: to get through my life because I didn't have any
- 6:40Speaker 3: other outlet, and that was like one thing where I
- 6:42Speaker 3: could write about it and then I would immediately feel
- 6:44Speaker 3: better about the situation because it's almost I explain it
- 6:47Speaker 3: to people, like this situation happened to me. I can
- 6:50Speaker 3: write about it. But now I put it out in
- 6:52Speaker 3: the world to help other people, and that doesn't I
- 6:54Speaker 3: just I don't carry that with me anymore. I carry
- 6:57Speaker 3: now I get to share this and like we can
- 6:59Speaker 3: all heal together and we can all enjoyed the same
- 7:02Speaker 3: music together. And I think it was when I was overseas,
- 7:05Speaker 3: and I can't remember if it was Australia or Europe first.
- 7:08Speaker 3: But when I heard people like singing Tennessee orange and
- 7:12Speaker 3: people like tearing up over Tennessee orange like over there,
- 7:15Speaker 3: that was when I was like, oh, this is like
- 7:17Speaker 3: way bigger than me, just like posting a song on
- 7:20Speaker 3: TikTok and seeing if people like it or not, and
- 7:22Speaker 3: like putting Georgia and Tennessee fans against each other like
- 7:25Speaker 3: this is like how do y'all even know, like what
- 7:29Speaker 3: the SEC rivalry is, you know? And yeah, I think
- 7:34Speaker 3: that was the moment where I was like, oh, this
- 7:36Speaker 3: is this is bigger than I ever imagined.
- 7:38Speaker 1: So I note there wasn't lots of a rivalry this
- 7:40Speaker 1: year the way things went to Tennessee.
- 7:43Speaker 3: I was promised national championship tickets if we make it there.
- 7:47Speaker 3: So since it's some prayers up for the dog.
- 7:50Speaker 2: Listen, we'll make listen.
- 7:51Speaker 1: Well, we're Switzerland when it comes to college football because
- 7:56Speaker 1: I'm from Minnesota, she's from from Vegas. We're hearing out
- 8:00Speaker 1: so there isn't like we we're bandwagoners, right, So if
- 8:04Speaker 1: you tell us we're Dogs fans for the rest of
- 8:06Speaker 1: the year, go dougs, learn how to break. I'm gonna
- 8:09Speaker 1: get my ass beat next time I go to Kroger now.
- 8:12Speaker 2: But it's fine. You're worth it.
- 8:15Speaker 1: When you look back, you're and I say, look back
- 8:18Speaker 1: right on a career that probably still feels so new
- 8:21Speaker 1: to you. But when you look back, you obviously talked
- 8:23Speaker 1: about connecting with fans. What are other moments that you're like,
- 8:27Speaker 1: I'm even in what we do, there's moments that we're like, Man,
- 8:31Speaker 1: I'm where I'm supposed to be. Like that that happened,
- 8:34Speaker 1: and now I know where I'm supposed to be. What
- 8:36Speaker 1: are a handful of those moments for you that have
- 8:38Speaker 1: happened maybe recently?
- 8:40Speaker 3: Oh, man, I mean it happens all the time. I
- 8:43Speaker 3: feel like since the beginning of my career, stuff has
- 8:45Speaker 3: happened where I'm like, this is someone else intervening in
- 8:48Speaker 3: my life, like that, this is like what I'm supposed
- 8:51Speaker 3: to be doing. The fact that my first show is
- 8:53Speaker 3: that the George's Theater opening for Chase Rice because he
- 8:55Speaker 3: just so happened to be at the sorority that I chose, Like,
- 8:58Speaker 3: I go back all the time and I I think,
- 9:00Speaker 3: what if I didn't rush Kad in college? That's like
- 9:03Speaker 3: such a small thing, But we were the only sorty
- 9:06Speaker 3: that had a concert for a flamthpy thing, you know,
- 9:08Speaker 3: So if we didn't, if I was in a different sorty,
- 9:10Speaker 3: the different flampy thing, I would have never even had
- 9:12Speaker 3: the opportunity to open for anybody. That would have led
- 9:15Speaker 3: me to where I'm at now. So it started since
- 9:17Speaker 3: the beginning, and I don't know, it happens all the time.
- 9:21Speaker 3: There was a Oh I found out too, I might
- 9:24Speaker 3: rill into signs and stuff. Wait when is this airing?
- 9:29Speaker 1: Actually, this won't air If you have something time sensitive,
- 9:33Speaker 1: we'll we'll chop it out and save.
- 9:34Speaker 3: Okay, Well in twenty fourteen, yeah, because it's been eleven years.
- 9:41Speaker 3: On October fourth, twenty fourteen, I met Casey musk Graves
- 9:45Speaker 3: outside of her bus and my dad pulled up the
- 9:48Speaker 3: picture and that's the iPhone said that, So I'm not
- 9:50Speaker 3: like just creepy and like at eleven fifty eight on
- 9:55Speaker 3: but on. So that was October fourth, twenty fourteen. Eleven
- 9:59Speaker 3: years later, October fourth, twenty twenty five, we got a
- 10:02Speaker 3: call from her manager saying that she was gonna be
- 10:04Speaker 3: on my song. And it's like exactly eleven years later. Oh,
- 10:08Speaker 3: and we found out at nine oh nine, and we've
- 10:11Speaker 3: been obsessed with nine because of Cloud nine. Yeah, so
- 10:13Speaker 3: it's just like when things like that happen, I'm like,
- 10:15Speaker 3: there's no way that this is all just like coincidental,
- 10:18Speaker 3: and I'm just like I'm just here and just got lucky,
- 10:22Speaker 3: Like there's there's no way.
- 10:24Speaker 1: So which really we started telling this story in the
- 10:27Speaker 1: ninth minute of the interview too, But I.
- 10:28Speaker 3: Mean, okay, we're getting we're getting all over wild.
- 10:33Speaker 2: We'll clip that.
- 10:35Speaker 1: Just let us know when that's okay, because I'd imagine
- 10:37Speaker 1: that's a track listing reveal type thing.
- 10:41Speaker 2: Yeah, just let us know when you know. Weird January nine.
- 10:47Speaker 1: Country music is such a cool family, and I know
- 10:49Speaker 1: that you have a unique relationship with Kenny Chesney. And
- 10:54Speaker 1: Kenny is a guy that we've gotten close with over
- 10:57Speaker 1: the years and like talk about just I mean, he
- 11:01Speaker 1: could get mobbed anywhere he went. But also if you
- 11:03Speaker 1: talk to him, it's like it's like he doesn't get
- 11:06Speaker 1: that he's Kenny Jacty.
- 11:08Speaker 2: What was that? How did that friendship form?
- 11:10Speaker 1: And what is support like that from somebody who is
- 11:13Speaker 1: widely established? Right, and you're still I don't want to
- 11:16Speaker 1: say you're new, but you're still very much establishing what
- 11:18Speaker 1: you want your career to be, right, what does this
- 11:20Speaker 1: support like.
- 11:20Speaker 2: That and how did that mean to you? And how
- 11:22Speaker 2: did that friendship start.
- 11:24Speaker 3: So we first went out to breakfast when I found
- 11:27Speaker 3: out I was going to open for him on the
- 11:28Speaker 3: Sun Goes Down tour. So it was early twenty twenty four.
- 11:31Speaker 3: We met for the first time, just so that our
- 11:33Speaker 3: first time meeting wasn't at the first show. And I
- 11:37Speaker 3: remember calling my mom and being like, I'm on my
- 11:39Speaker 3: way to breakfast with Kenny Chesney and my mom was
- 11:42Speaker 3: like nah. And now like he had this book come
- 11:45Speaker 3: out and he wrote my mom a personal like signed book,
- 11:48Speaker 3: you know what I mean. Like my mom and him
- 11:52Speaker 3: are friends now too, And it's just crazy how he
- 11:55Speaker 3: is Kenny Chesney. But he is everything you hoped he
- 11:58Speaker 3: would be. Generous. He is like kind to everyone. He
- 12:04Speaker 3: his team is incredible. Being able to learn from him
- 12:07Speaker 3: as a touring artist like definitely helped me on stage.
- 12:11Speaker 3: And I would watch him side stage every single night
- 12:13Speaker 3: because I'm trying to take notes. He's He's like, oh yeah,
- 12:16Speaker 3: this is the tenth time we've filled out the stadium
- 12:17Speaker 3: and I'm like, like, no chance in hell, I'm going
- 12:21Speaker 3: on the bus and like watching a movie, like I'm
- 12:23Speaker 3: like standing side stage taking notes, And I think just
- 12:29Speaker 3: his mentorship, like whether it's you know, with the business,
- 12:32Speaker 3: whether it's with touring, like outside of the business, just relationships, friendships.
- 12:38Speaker 3: He always he's gone through a lot and he has
- 12:41Speaker 3: a lot of advice to give, and he's just he
- 12:44Speaker 3: always checks in, makes sure like me and my whole
- 12:47Speaker 3: team are good, and he's just like so kind. And
- 12:50Speaker 3: I remember I remember at the very beginning, I was like,
- 12:54Speaker 3: I can't believe, like Kenny Jesney and I are friends,
- 12:56Speaker 3: Like this is crazy, And even though now I'm way
- 13:00Speaker 3: more used to it, sometimes I'm so like when he
- 13:02Speaker 3: puts his cowboy hat on and like has the show,
- 13:04Speaker 3: I'm like, damn, that's gay, Jess.
- 13:06Speaker 2: It's funny. Before that though, You're like, I know.
- 13:08Speaker 3: It was just a guy who had a beatie on
- 13:10Speaker 3: when I met him, so I'm like, oh, he's just
- 13:11Speaker 3: like a normal guy. And then when I saw him
- 13:14Speaker 3: at the tour for the first time with his hat on,
- 13:16Speaker 3: I was like, it's like putting on his superhero cape.
- 13:22Speaker 3: It's like, oh, shoot, I.
- 13:25Speaker 1: Also want to touch base with you on we are
- 13:28Speaker 1: as country radio. We are blessed to live in the
- 13:31Speaker 1: air that we do because the music being made by
- 13:35Speaker 1: the females in this genre is arguably the best it's
- 13:38Speaker 1: ever been, with the strength of artists, the strength of shows.
- 13:43Speaker 1: You have artists like you, artists like Kelsey Ballerini who
- 13:46Speaker 1: a handful of years we didn't know their names and
- 13:48Speaker 1: now they're headlining bridge Stone Arena, right which is a
- 13:52Speaker 1: massive deal. What does it mean for you to have
- 13:55Speaker 1: a piece of what's happening with females and country music
- 13:59Speaker 1: right now?
- 14:00Speaker 3: I think it's amazing. I mean, we all have such
- 14:03Speaker 3: distinct lanes too, and a unique perspective that I think
- 14:08Speaker 3: just feels really authentic. And thanks to social media, we
- 14:11Speaker 3: can promote ourselves and get the word out about our
- 14:15Speaker 3: music that way. And it's just really cool to see
- 14:19Speaker 3: so many women killing it, you know. It's like we're
- 14:22Speaker 3: giving the guys a run for their money. We're like, hello,
- 14:24Speaker 3: we're here. We're very much here.
- 14:27Speaker 2: As you should.
- 14:29Speaker 1: There is a weight that comes with that, though, and
- 14:31Speaker 1: a responsibility that comes at especially with the grind. How
- 14:35Speaker 1: do you unplug and what are signs you have for
- 14:39Speaker 1: yourself and signs you have for your team, Like, hey, Megan,
- 14:43Speaker 1: need's mental break here for a little bit. How do
- 14:45Speaker 1: you make sure that that stays a priority for you.
- 14:48Speaker 3: I think over the years, my fan or my team
- 14:51Speaker 3: has been really good at making time off for me.
- 14:54Speaker 3: They know about what I can mentally handle. So the
- 14:57Speaker 3: breaks are like already they're planned out ahead of time,
- 15:01Speaker 3: which I learned early in my career, Like, Okay, I
- 15:04Speaker 3: can't go to the UK for four weeks because like
- 15:06Speaker 3: by the fourth week, I'm not good. So I think
- 15:11Speaker 3: it's just taken time to get that balance. But honestly,
- 15:14Speaker 3: I'm obsessed with my job, and I think it's in
- 15:18Speaker 3: a healthy way. But it's one of those things where
- 15:20Speaker 3: like I used to write songs and play guitar, like
- 15:22Speaker 3: with my dad to like on weekends when there's nothing
- 15:26Speaker 3: else to do. So it's always been like fun for me,
- 15:29Speaker 3: and I feel grateful that it's still fun, you know,
- 15:32Speaker 3: Like I've got great people around me and amazing fans
- 15:36Speaker 3: that make it really enjoyable. And sure there's days that
- 15:38Speaker 3: it's harder and it sucks, but I think when you
- 15:41Speaker 3: zoom out and you can just tough it out, it's
- 15:44Speaker 3: like this is so great. You know like this, the
- 15:50Speaker 3: stars aligning and stuff like this. It takes so much
- 15:53Speaker 3: luck and God and timing for all of this to happen.
- 15:56Speaker 3: And I just try to take every moment, try to
- 16:00Speaker 3: be in the moment and not take it for granted.
- 16:02Speaker 1: Last thing I want to ask, because I know we
- 16:04Speaker 1: got to run. We are the second you leave diving
- 16:07Speaker 1: into day one of our forty eight hours Saint Jude Radio,
- 16:10Speaker 1: don we were talking to you were just there. But
- 16:13Speaker 1: also Saint Jude has been something that once you learned
- 16:16Speaker 1: about it, you're like, I'm in Yeah, I've heard You've
- 16:19Speaker 1: even something about what was it with dresses, Like you've
- 16:21Speaker 1: donated dress?
- 16:22Speaker 3: Oh yeah, I've donated some dresses of course.
- 16:25Speaker 1: So if you can real quick, whether it be what
- 16:27Speaker 1: Saint Jude means to you or a Saint Jude's story
- 16:31Speaker 1: that as I say, Saint Jude, you're like the first
- 16:33Speaker 1: memory that pops up, if you could share with us,
- 16:35Speaker 1: to share with our audiences.
- 16:38Speaker 3: Yeah. So I got to tour Saint Jude I think
- 16:42Speaker 3: a year ago, and it just like really changed my life.
- 16:45Speaker 3: I think when you go in there, there's so much
- 16:47Speaker 3: love in the halls, and there's it's one of those
- 16:51Speaker 3: things where you want to help, Like you go there
- 16:54Speaker 3: and you're like, like I was ready to drain my
- 16:56Speaker 3: bank account because I'm like, I want to do everything
- 16:58Speaker 3: I can to help these families. They're in such good spirits.
- 17:02Speaker 3: The nurses are so amazing, and I don't think you
- 17:04Speaker 3: get it until you really tour it. So I highly
- 17:07Speaker 3: recommend if I don't know even know if that's open
- 17:10Speaker 3: to everybody or whatever the situation is, but like it
- 17:13Speaker 3: really did change my life seeing it, and I've I've
- 17:16Speaker 3: made it a tradition to go there every year now.
- 17:20Speaker 3: I just went the other day, and I just want
- 17:22Speaker 3: to end my year that way, you know, to give
- 17:25Speaker 3: back and just show up for these kids that are
- 17:28Speaker 3: having a really hard time if you can just make
- 17:30Speaker 3: them smile and their family smile for just a second.
- 17:33Speaker 3: Like the people that work there were just saying, like,
- 17:36Speaker 3: we don't see them smile very often, so this means
- 17:39Speaker 3: so much to them. And whether it's you know, a
- 17:42Speaker 3: financial donation or my time and both, I just like,
- 17:46Speaker 3: I love Saint Jude and I got to sing beautiful
- 17:48Speaker 3: things for them the other day and it was the
- 17:49Speaker 3: hardest thing I've done in a while because the families.
- 17:54Speaker 3: Some of the families were like very emotional about it,
- 17:58Speaker 3: but it was a really cool moment. I'm grateful to
- 18:00Speaker 3: have a platform where I can write songs that mean
- 18:03Speaker 3: different things to different people, and maybe it gives them
- 18:05Speaker 3: a little bit of hope during a really hard time.
- 18:07Speaker 3: And it really everything I can do to help them.
- 18:12Speaker 3: It's like change my life going there. So highly recommend
- 18:15Speaker 3: anyone doing their research and figuring out what Saint Jude
- 18:18Speaker 3: is all about. It's it's amazing, it's.
- 18:19Speaker 2: Unreal the more you learn what happens. Yeah, and then
- 18:21Speaker 2: the families don't.
- 18:22Speaker 3: Have a bill, they don't have a bill, and they
- 18:24Speaker 3: make it. They also accommodate the families, like these poor
- 18:28Speaker 3: sick kids have brothers and sisters, and you don't think about,
- 18:33Speaker 3: you know, if you're not in a situation, you don't
- 18:34Speaker 3: think about like what it Oh, this kid has to
- 18:37Speaker 3: be away from their siblings. They allow the whole families
- 18:39Speaker 3: to just like everyone bring it on in. You don't
- 18:41Speaker 3: pay a bill, and they try to make it as
- 18:44Speaker 3: best they can for a really tough situation.
- 18:47Speaker 2: Listen, we're wrapping things up.
- 18:49Speaker 1: Thank you for the time, Thank you for coming down
- 18:51Speaker 1: to Broadway, because sometimes Broadway sucks.
- 18:56Speaker 2: Most most times it sucks. But thank you. We appreciate it.
- 18:59Speaker 3: Thank you. Should we get on a pedal tavern?
- 19:01Speaker 2: I bet you won't.
- 19:02Speaker 3: I will for real, Like when the album comes out,
- 19:04Speaker 3: we should do something.
- 19:05Speaker 1: We would do a pedal tavern and make it pink
- 19:10Speaker 1: an alcohol sponsored and free rides.
- 19:13Speaker 3: Free rides. We just like ask people. I'll just like
- 19:16Speaker 3: look like a bachelorette. I'll like have a little veil
- 19:18Speaker 3: on and.
- 19:19Speaker 2: Then but every song comes on, you have to go.
- 19:22Speaker 1: This is my job because we hear that ship all
- 19:26Speaker 1: summer down the copy instrue.
- 19:28Speaker 2: They can't
