Latest / What's Your (Least) Favorite Scary Movie? / #333: Final Destination 5 (2011)
Transcript
- 0:06Hello, what's your least favorite scary movie?
- 0:10Death doesn't like to be cheated.
- 0:13Welcome to What's Your Least Favorite scary Movie?
- 0:15The podcast where we talk about the good, the bad, the ugly, any
- 0:19absurd, and all of our favorite scary movies.
- 0:21Because we believe every horror movie rightfully has his fan
- 0:24base. Even if we don't always get it.
- 0:25My name is Travis. My name is Jesse.
- 0:27And welcome back to our franchise coverage of this era.
- 0:30We are talking about Final Destination 5 today, yes, yeah.
- 0:37But before we do that, do we have anything that we need to
- 0:39announce? I hope not.
- 0:41Yeah, we'll. Probably have a Patreon episode
- 0:44up at some point soon and. That should be coming out real
- 0:46soon. That's for our budget tier
- 0:48patrons. And also be on the lookout for
- 0:51voting and potentially some other Patreon related
- 0:55announcements. Yeah, just keep an eye out.
- 0:57Keep an eye out on that Patreon, you know where to find it.
- 1:00All right, well then, without out of the way, I've got our
- 1:02poll for last week's movie. Yay.
- 1:05Last week we talked about fall, so we asked everybody, would you
- 1:08rather fall or descend? So that's fall as in climb up
- 1:12really, really high, or descend as in crawl down really
- 1:15underground. So you all want to guess who did
- 1:18that one that way? Yeah, I think it's pretty
- 1:20obvious. So the results, 42% would go up,
- 1:2558% would rather go down. This is a tough one for me
- 1:29because I'm terrified of both situations.
- 1:32I am really, really scared of heights and being as exposed to
- 1:36that as they are. Actually, it's the extreme for
- 1:39both of them. I don't know man.
- 1:41I guess I'll have to think about is it for sure that I'll die?
- 1:45Because if I'm going to die, I'd rather just fall quickly from a
- 1:49tower versus underground. Like you could just get stuck
- 1:53and like. That's the thing that gets me
- 1:55the tight. Oxygen, yeah.
- 1:57Yeah, there is a lot more claustrophobic underground.
- 2:00I think I would go up. Yeah, I think that's a.
- 2:03Yeah, like if I have a chance of making it, then I'd do The Cave.
- 2:06But if I'm, if I'm this is somebody that's going to die.
- 2:10Yeah, this is basically like a do you prefer to go up?
- 2:12Like are you? If you have to do 1 extreme
- 2:14sport, would you rather like rock climb or spelunk?
- 2:18Spelunk. OK, I'd rather go high.
- 2:21All right. Well, I guess we're not doing it
- 2:22together. No, I guess not.
- 2:24OK, well then that's it for that.
- 2:25I guess it's time for us to get into our episode coverage.
- 2:27Yeah, yeah. Final Destination 5 premiered
- 2:30August 5th, 2011 at the Fantasia Film Fest.
- 2:34Wide release August 12th, 2011. We watched it on our DVD.
- 2:37If you want to watch it as of March of 26, you can watch it on
- 2:42HBO Max or Cinemax. If you want to rent it, you can
- 2:45rent it on Prime, Apple TV or YouTube.
- 2:48Written by Eric Heiser, directed by Stephen Quayle, music by
- 2:52Brian Tyler and special effects makeup by Soho Video Effects,
- 2:56Prime Focus and Cosa Video Effects.
- 2:58OK, that's a lot. I do know one of the people that
- 3:01worked on this special effects team also worked on Dragon Ball
- 3:04Evolution, so we've got a lot of ties to Dragon Ball Evolution
- 3:07with Final Destination for some weird reason.
- 3:10Interesting. Yeah, I don't know how I feel
- 3:12about that. I'm conflicted.
- 3:14Because Dragon Ball Evolution is your favorite movie.
- 3:17Yeah, it's the best. It's my favorite.
- 3:20Nicholas de Gasto as Sam who we have previously talked about in
- 3:24drive through on a 2B or not to be.
- 3:27And who everybody also knows is an up and coming artist.
- 3:31Yeah, named Hunter. 1. Night one night.
- 3:34You made everything all right. Emma Bell as Molly, who we've
- 3:41also talked about so far on Frozen.
- 3:44And briefly, I had to too. Yeah, that's right.
- 3:47Well, cameo there. Miles Fisher is Peter Arlen
- 3:50Escarpeta as Nathan Ellen Rowe as Candace, who we've also
- 3:55talked about in Gatlob. Dude I didn't realize she was in
- 3:59that. I didn't either, but I wanted
- 4:01like once we had two common things.
- 4:03I've checked everybody's IMDb to see if.
- 4:05It's any time that. Was digging deep there, but
- 4:08Gallup, that was her very first to be or not to be episode.
- 4:12Jacqueline McInnes Wood as Olivia, PJ Byrne as Isaac, David
- 4:17Koechner as Dennis, Courtney B Vance as Agent Block and Tony
- 4:21Todd as Bloodworth. All right, time for a favorite
- 4:23game on the show. Budget expected considering this
- 4:28is the fifth in the franchise. Yeah, and we have 3 special
- 4:32effects production teams. Yeah, there's a lot.
- 4:35But I also know that the fourth was a little iffy.
- 4:38I'm going to say high bug Ted or low budget.
- 4:43Oh, OK. Well, it's it's high budget.
- 4:47Oh, really? Yeah, it's $40 million.
- 4:50Yeah, they threw a lot of change at this thing here.
- 4:53Had an opening box office of 18,000,000 worldwide gross 157
- 4:57million. OK, well, they made it back and
- 4:59then some. Yeah, for sure.
- 5:00IMDb 5.9. OK, that's that's a little rude.
- 5:04Yeah, I mean, you know, it's not the best.
- 5:07I think like as these movies go on, people are being less kind
- 5:12to them for some reason. So I have 3 movies from 2011.
- 5:16OK, surprisingly, a common theme.
- 5:19I'm going to tell you all right now, if you don't want, if you
- 5:21don't know anything about Final Destination 5 right now, like go
- 5:25watch it and then tune into this if you want to listen because
- 5:28I'm, I mean, this is kind of a spoiler.
- 5:30We're at the spoiler point now. Yes, now, OK, so the theme for
- 5:352011 is prequel, sequel. OK, that's a that's a very good
- 5:41theme 'cause this was a secret prequel sequel.
- 5:43Yeah, some of these are the same so, well, actually just one of
- 5:48them, but OK, the first one, Paranormal Activity 3.
- 5:52OK. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 5:53Which that one is all about Katie's origin with Toby.
- 5:57Yes, Toby. Toby.
- 5:59That released October 21st. 5 million Budget, 207 million
- 6:03gross 5.8 IMDb. 5.8 for paranormal Activity 3.
- 6:09I thought that that was the fan favorite, but I guess maybe not.
- 6:12Or maybe the maybe people are hating on the franchise now and
- 6:15they're just like knocking these as time goes by, you know?
- 6:18We need to pick back up on those.
- 6:20We do, Yeah, Sorry. Folks.
- 6:22Yeah, yeah. God, I think 3 was the last one
- 6:23we talked about. Oops.
- 6:25Yeah, All right. Movie number.
- 6:27Two maybe preview for April. Movie #2 The thing, now that was
- 6:33one that was a surprise prequel. Oh yeah.
- 6:36You want to know another interesting tidbit right there?
- 6:38Oh boy, same writer as this movie.
- 6:40So OK. Same Stephen Quayle or no?
- 6:43Eric Heiser did both scripts. Like, you know what, I'm going
- 6:48to mark this as a sequel, but really we're going back into.
- 6:53That it worked for one movie, not so much the other.
- 6:56So The Thing released October 14th, budget of 38 million, so
- 7:01about the closest the Final Destination Five budget, but a
- 7:04worldwide gross of 31 million. Yeah, but it's got the highest
- 7:09IMDb score of the bunch here, 6.3.
- 7:11Really. And.
- 7:13Another interesting thing, all of these movies here are
- 7:15released within like a two week span.
- 7:18Wow. OK, so it's a busy August.
- 7:20Yeah, no October. October.
- 7:21Sorry. August was the Fantasia Film
- 7:24Festival for this. OK, sorry.
- 7:25So the final movie, it's a favorite on this show.
- 7:27We love it. Wrong turn 4 buddy.
- 7:30Beginnings. Yes, that's.
- 7:33One of the best in the whole franchise.
- 7:34It honestly is, you know, even even as horny as Declan O'Connor
- 7:40is Declan O'Brien. Declan O'Brien Yeah, you fucked
- 7:44yourself up that time. It's usually me that gets that
- 7:46mixed up. Yeah.
- 7:47So that released October 10th, budget 3,000,000.
- 7:50Don't have the gross since it was straight to DVD, but an IMDb
- 7:53of 4.5. I want to say rude but I get.
- 7:57It I-100. Percent.
- 7:59Get it? I don't agree personally, but I
- 8:02understand where that's coming from.
- 8:05OK, so it's time for some tag lines.
- 8:07I've got 4-1 on the poster. Death has never been closer.
- 8:14Yeah. OK, see this is another 3D1 they
- 8:18did. This a little bit better than
- 8:21the 4th 1. I think that was one of the
- 8:23things that I said before was that in the fourth one, it felt
- 8:26very much like you could tell this is meant to be 3D.
- 8:29We don't really get that as much in this one.
- 8:30There are a couple of shots where I'm like this feels 3D
- 8:33oriented but for the most part it's not like.
- 8:36That they did a lot better with it this time.
- 8:38The second tagline this summer. Death decides how, fate decides
- 8:42when. No, see, we've never recognized
- 8:46Fate is like an another entity. We can't.
- 8:49No, I don't like that. I don't like that tagline and
- 8:51he's trying to introduce new lore.
- 8:53I like that summer lifts for or death lifts for summer, though.
- 8:56It's like the in the summer death is going to figure this
- 8:58shit out. Yeah.
- 9:00The other seasons it's like, yeah, I'll take it easy, which
- 9:03is kind of Fair because like, I don't think I've we've seen any
- 9:05of these movies take place in another season.
- 9:09What do you think about him? We should have like a winter
- 9:11final destination. You would hope there's.
- 9:13So much that can be OK. Yeah, that needs to happen now,
- 9:17people. Make it happen.
- 9:19All right, another one. Another one.
- 9:23DJ Khaled, they tapped him for A tag line.
- 9:28Like DJ, please help. He's like, so this is a sequel,
- 9:35right? All right, another one.
- 9:40Boom, There we go. Yeah, we all share a common
- 9:44destination. That's true.
- 9:47Yeah, yeah, I get it. And the final one, kill or be
- 9:50killed, which that's more of a theme in this movie, so I think
- 9:53that works. OK.
- 9:54Ish. Yeah.
- 9:55Yeah, it's OK. None of these are really that
- 9:57great, really. Yeah.
- 9:59If DJ Khaled did another one, I think that would be the winner
- 10:02here. Like realistically.
- 10:05OK, time for fun facts. Yay.
- 10:07So the success of the fourth one actually is why they backtracked
- 10:11on their decision for that to be the final one.
- 10:14OK, so did I make up it not being well?
- 10:16Received. It did.
- 10:16Well, yeah, I remember it did like over 180 million because we
- 10:20both made the joke like stop it at 180.
- 10:23Oh yeah, it did. It did.
- 10:25Okay, I don't remember our own history.
- 10:27We also discovered last night that we may have stolen the What
- 10:31Would Dominic Tretto do from the movie Blockers?
- 10:34Yeah, I thought we were gonna, we're gonna explain that.
- 10:36I thought like around the time of that segment.
- 10:40Nope, we just don't remember the lore of our own show apparently.
- 10:43Which is consistent for. Us, it was a subconscious thing.
- 10:46It's not like we just like, ripped it straight from the.
- 10:48Movie and The thing is yeah, blockers that he says
- 10:51specifically what would Vin Diesel do which I think is why
- 10:53Travis always says. Thin and it's like a VD.
- 10:55Yeah. What would Vin Diesel do?
- 10:57OK, but that's VDD, but also we don't like that because VD is
- 11:02venereal disease. We.
- 11:03Don't want that. Yeah, OK.
- 11:05All right. So yeah, they backtracked.
- 11:07They had a pretty quick turn around for this one right here
- 11:10because the last one came out in 2009.
- 11:11This is 2011. So yeah, pretty, pretty fast for
- 11:14a fast Not fast, pretty fast for a Final Destination movie.
- 11:18God damn it, we've got Fast and Furious on the brain now, so
- 11:22this is funny. And they announced it. 5 null
- 11:26destination Red now with A5 NAL followed by destination.
- 11:31But if you look at it, it kind of looks like it says anal
- 11:34destination. So they reverse that like a
- 11:38couple of months later. The part of me that likes to be
- 11:41annoying and pronounce numbers and words is torn with a part of
- 11:45me that's a 12 year old boy and wants to laugh at it looking
- 11:48like the word anal. It's just like, how did they not
- 11:50notice that? As soon as I saw that, I was
- 11:52like, that's anal. That is anal destination.
- 11:54That is like the porn parody of The Final Destination.
- 11:58Movie. No, no, don't put.
- 11:59I mean, I'm sure it already. Already yet Rule 37 I.
- 12:03Cannot do this. Rule 34.
- 12:05I can't fucking remember which one it is either way.
- 12:07The Internet is gross and the people on it are gross.
- 12:09You. Know this?
- 12:12That's what the rule is. Yeah, OK.
- 12:15So Heiser felt like the pressure was off after the previous film.
- 12:20That's that. That to me speaks like he did
- 12:22not think very highly of for. My God.
- 12:26Yeah, I couldn't believe that he said that.
- 12:29He's like, yeah, I don't necessarily feel like there's a
- 12:31lot of pressure on me right now. However, he did say that he
- 12:34struggled with creative depths in this series.
- 12:38I know, man. Like fucking dude throwing them
- 12:40under the bus. That's great, I love a petty
- 12:44bitch. He said a good death sequence in
- 12:46the Final Destination world is ridiculously hard.
- 12:49There are a ton of rules that you need to know are there, and
- 12:51I was pulling my hair out over it.
- 12:53Oh, that. So I guess the pressure's not
- 12:55completely off then. All of that has to be on the
- 12:59page. They don't let me cheat any of
- 13:01that. I can't say I'm going to let the
- 13:02director figure this one out. You can't cheat death.
- 13:06Yeah, oh dude, he was trying to cheat death.
- 13:08Holy shit. Damn, I like to imagine Tony
- 13:11Todd was like in the writers room and he's like, no, no, he's
- 13:14like, listen, I'm he's actually like the continuity expert on
- 13:17the films. Yeah, yeah.
- 13:21However, he did get inspiration for one of his deaths from his
- 13:24wife, who was getting LASIK at the time.
- 13:27Cool. So that is where the LASIK
- 13:30incident happened. There was a different take on
- 13:34that scene in another deleted scene that's on the Blu-ray.
- 13:37Our DVD sucks with special features.
- 13:39It didn't have anything on it, but apparently the Blu-ray is
- 13:41where it's at. But apparently in the alternate
- 13:44version, both of her eyes get fried gross and she still falls
- 13:48out the window. Well yeah, she can't see it all.
- 13:51I prefer this like panicky version where she just like
- 13:54trips and does a Bella Swan dies.
- 13:56Yeah, I kinda like it better too, then.
- 13:57Yeah. Bella Swan.
- 13:58Oh, Bella Swan dies. Thank you.
- 13:59Dude. If she was a wrestler, that
- 14:01would be her. That would be it.
- 14:04Yeah. Jeff Hardy would have to, like,
- 14:06give that to her. And the other one.
- 14:10There was another alternate death, which was Isaac.
- 14:12And his was that instead of the Buddha falling on his head and
- 14:16crushing him, it was the liquid of alcohol engulfed him in
- 14:20flames. No, I like that he got his head
- 14:23squished. I like that better too.
- 14:25I think they did the better take for both of those.
- 14:28Yeah, yes, OK. And we have some callbacks like
- 14:31we do with all of them. So I've got a list here of all
- 14:33of the things that that we have. So First off, when Nate goes
- 14:40into the office with a six pack that he stole from Roy, Yeah,
- 14:44that is the high spell I'll that has been throughout all of these
- 14:47movies. I like that they found a way to
- 14:49put that in there, but also holy shit, stealing alcohol from your
- 14:53employee's truck when you already have beef with that
- 14:55alcohol like. I couldn't tell if he was
- 14:57joking. It kind of sounded like a joke,
- 14:59but I could also see him being that pissed off at Roy that he
- 15:01was going to steal his beer. Yeah, I just that's there are so
- 15:06many layers of like there's so many layers of corporates going
- 15:11to shit their pants at this. Do corporates already shitting
- 15:13in their pants half of their staff died?
- 15:16I guess that's true because Nathan was about to be laid off
- 15:18anyway. Are they?
- 15:19Would he have been laid off because he was the assistant
- 15:21plant manager at the plant was still running?
- 15:23Yeah, they were still running. They were just running at 50%.
- 15:25They haven't cut back. So corporate would have been
- 15:27like, we really didn't need this shit right now, Nathan.
- 15:29Exactly, yes. So Speaking of Roy, when we see
- 15:35Nate at the bar where they're doing like the memorial for him,
- 15:38you can see in the background there's a picture of him sending
- 15:40to the number four race car from Final Destination 40.
- 15:43That's fun. Yeah, that's crazy.
- 15:46Also, the corporate's retreat that they're doing, they're
- 15:51going to work with a consulting company called 180 Corporate
- 15:55Consulting. On Olivia's desk, there's a
- 15:58picture of the Devil's Flight roller coaster from Final
- 16:01Destination 3. I saw that she.
- 16:03I like it was the the picture that gets shattered like it
- 16:06shatters over her face. And I saw it was for a ride.
- 16:09Yeah, but I didn't see what the ride was.
- 16:11I didn't. Notice that I was just paying
- 16:13attention to wear it with the glass cracked over her eye.
- 16:15OK. And yeah, I think that's
- 16:17actually it. That's all I got for the stuff
- 16:19there. But, you know, still, like, like
- 16:20all these movies do we always have a little bit of fun, like
- 16:23Easter eggs, stuff like that, old premonitions whatnot.
- 16:26Oh, wait, Actually, there's one more.
- 16:27The place where he works is called.
- 16:30P Sage. Well presage is one of the
- 16:33things apparently. I did read that presage is
- 16:37that's another term for premonition.
- 16:39But no, I'm talking about the restaurant he works at.
- 16:42It's called shit. Yeah, it's not called shit.
- 16:46It's. I've got it here somewhere.
- 16:48It's something. We'll talk about it in the
- 16:50episode. Yeah, it's not even eight.
- 16:52Yeah, it's something 80. No, it's O eight, Yeah.
- 16:56If you read it backwards, it says 1. 80 81 yeah, it's
- 17:00something with an O at the end and an 81.
- 17:02When we get to that point in the in the movie talk here, I'll be
- 17:06able to talk about it because I wrote it down.
- 17:07But whatever, that's it for fun facts right now.
- 17:10Guys, it's Sunday morning and things are weird, so I'm sorry.
- 17:13We're not that far out of whack. Come on, We're talking about DJ
- 17:15Khaled. We're talking about Vin Diesel.
- 17:18We're going on a pretty good clip here.
- 17:22OK, well, whatever. Let's get into it then.
- 17:23What do you what do you like about this movie?
- 17:26OK, so there are a lot of really relatable death fears in this
- 17:31one. Yeah, we've got the bridge
- 17:34collapsing. Shout out to my mom because I
- 17:37have so many memories of being terrified on bridges when I was
- 17:41younger that I thought were nightmares.
- 17:42And my mom was like, oh, no, that was just me actually being
- 17:44afraid of bridges. And I was like, oh, OK, cool.
- 17:46Jesus. Generational trauma.
- 17:48Yeah, my mom's got like a fear of like really tall bridges.
- 17:51Oh wow, how? Come, which I know sounds really
- 17:53specific, but that's. So funny because she she's the
- 17:56one that forced me to go on the Hell Evader ride with her at
- 17:59Kings Island. Well, yeah, she's also an
- 18:01adrenaline junkie. OK, I regretted that decision.
- 18:04Naomi, if you're listening to. This.
- 18:06I I think about that day sometimes I'm like, why the fuck
- 18:09did I ever do that? Because.
- 18:10It next time she tries to come up and go to Kings Island with
- 18:13either of us, she's she's alone. Yeah.
- 18:15That's why she convinced you to do it, because after the last
- 18:17time I did it with her, I was like, I'm never doing that
- 18:19again. She burnt that bridge.
- 18:24Also the LASIK, we had a whole conversation about it when that
- 18:28scene started because like the circumstances where we would be
- 18:32willing to do LASIK, not for you at all.
- 18:35Right now, you, you survive without your glasses most of the
- 18:38time. For me, I think the only
- 18:40situation I would do it is if it becomes very clear we're about
- 18:42to enter like a Mad Max style of like post apocalyptic wasteland
- 18:49and I wouldn't have to worry about like.
- 18:52Contacts. Contacts and glasses all the
- 18:54time. Then I might like be like, OK,
- 18:56cool. I'm going to go ahead and like
- 18:57as a contingency plan, do this LASIK.
- 18:59But like until that feels like more of a reality, which we
- 19:03can't get closer. I don't feel like I would want
- 19:07to do it just because it it's lasers gutting your eyes.
- 19:11Then we've also got like the acupuncture scene.
- 19:14That's scary. Kitchens are always terrifying,
- 19:19that scene. Where he's just, yeah, it keeps
- 19:22that one. You're on your toes and you know
- 19:24that he is, too. They did a such, they did such a
- 19:26good job with that one right there.
- 19:27And I'm just going to go ahead and say it.
- 19:29I think of all of the premonition deaths, Dennis gets
- 19:31it the worst. I know it's not how he actually
- 19:35died, but in the premonition how he's going to have the hot tar
- 19:38poured on him. Oh yeah, yeah.
- 19:40God damn, dude. Yeah, that's tough.
- 19:42But the great thing about this movie, it was a complete and
- 19:48total mind fuck, and it shouldn't have been.
- 19:50There were so many clues that this was late 90s, early 2000s.
- 19:55So I remember I went to see this in the theater with one of our
- 19:57very, very good friends, the person that actually married us.
- 20:01Yeah. And we came out of the theater
- 20:03and we're like, what the fuck? When you find out that this was
- 20:07actually a prequel the whole time and I was like making notes
- 20:09of all of the clues that were there.
- 20:11OK, so they're especially like some good music references cuz
- 20:15when Molly pulls up, she's playing every yeah, I will buy
- 20:18you a new life. That was a hit in the late 90s.
- 20:20You referred it on the radio at that time.
- 20:23But see, The thing is, a lot of these are like plausible in
- 20:26today's time too. Yeah, which is a good.
- 20:28It's good that it's ambiguous like that, but yeah.
- 20:30Yes, and I was actually going to talk about how, like, some of it
- 20:33is, you know, like, ambiguous. Yeah.
- 20:36And the band member that drops Olivia off says that he likes
- 20:41the glasses. She looks very Lisa Loeb.
- 20:43Not that nobody in, you know, the 20 tens would know who Lisa
- 20:48Loeb is, but more just like that was that much more timely.
- 20:52Late 90s or early 2000s. Yeah, for sure.
- 20:55We see Candace's school. They were the 1994 national
- 20:59champions. And again, it's like, well,
- 21:02yeah, they're going to keep their penance up even, you know,
- 21:04if it's been 2 decades, say one. But it does make it seem that
- 21:10much more competitive for somebody who's been doing
- 21:12gymnastics their entire life. Yeah, for sure.
- 21:15We also have Isaac, who is the head of IT, and he's got a flip
- 21:20phone. And technology is very cyclical.
- 21:23I've got a flip phone right now because it is currently cool
- 21:26again, but you know, like usually IT guys are either going
- 21:31to be like so possessive and obsessive about their security
- 21:36that they're going to like, you know, want to have something
- 21:38that is not super usably, you know, whatever, or they want the
- 21:43like top of the line stuff. Another thing from for that
- 21:47phone that I read was that the ringtone that he has too is one
- 21:50of those like old. It's like the very basic
- 21:54ringtone that we used to have when phones first started coming
- 21:57out. I don't pay attention to
- 21:58ringtones in movies because they're so very rarely like,
- 22:02relatable. Yeah, that's for sure.
- 22:05I feel like see and now if they were ever trying to do like a
- 22:07movie where it was like mid 2000s and they're trying to make
- 22:11it ambiguous, you would have like songs as ringtones.
- 22:14It's a birthday school, why don't you pick up your phone?
- 22:18God, I forget that's what happened in that movie too.
- 22:20Yeah, also, and this wasn't like a hint.
- 22:24I mean, it was kind of a hint, but like, so that is one of the
- 22:28things you just. Slap yourself at the end.
- 22:33Like how did I not fucking think of this?
- 22:35Yes. And like when I see like as I'm
- 22:37writing them all down, I'm like, man, I feel really stupid that I
- 22:41did not figure this out, but I like it.
- 22:43I like it when in hindsight something is obvious.
- 22:46It's so awesome. Yeah, it makes you like that.
- 22:48It's like they got me those fuckers.
- 22:50Fuckers. There's one more thing.
- 22:52The coupon that he gets from the person's drawer has an
- 22:55expiration date of 2000. See, and I didn't even look at
- 22:59the expiration date. Yeah, that's a good one.
- 23:01Yeah. So it was there.
- 23:03They weren't trying to hide it. No, they weren't.
- 23:06It was in plain sight, but just not like it was very fine
- 23:09detail. God damn pun.
- 23:13No, it's not. I'm not trying to make fun of
- 23:15anybody that has to wear glasses.
- 23:18Is that what you're saying? Plain sight.
- 23:20Plain because they get on Flight 180 at the end.
- 23:24Oh God, no. I'm too stupid for that, Jesse.
- 23:26Like I didn't even get what you were implying there.
- 23:29Come on. Like, I'm sorry you need
- 23:31glasses. Nobody's having the worst day of
- 23:34their lives today. Everybody have the worst day at
- 23:37work. Yeah, OK.
- 23:40You got anything else to add? No, I just, I love this movie a
- 23:43lot. OK, yeah, yeah, This is one of
- 23:45the better ones in the series for me too.
- 23:48I think this one has probably the best blend of comedy and
- 23:52tension than any of the other ones too.
- 23:55And I got to also add, from like a note taking perspective, that
- 23:59opening premonition was amazing. I have never had more notes on
- 24:03an opening premonition in this entire series.
- 24:05It was the longest one too, until Final Destination 6 came
- 24:09out. Yeah.
- 24:10But yeah, this was, this one was the the longest for a while
- 24:13there. One of the things that I really
- 24:16thought was cool about this one, Sam doesn't get any premonitions
- 24:20for any of the people's deaths. Yeah, we don't.
- 24:23He doesn't like he nobody. He doesn't get any signs
- 24:26whatsoever. People are just dying around
- 24:27him, which I thought was interesting.
- 24:29I kind of like that a little bit better.
- 24:30Really. Well, and I think just keeping
- 24:31you on your toes a little bit more.
- 24:33Yeah, and I think that makes sense because we kind of talked
- 24:35in the last one about how the lore grows a little bit with
- 24:37each sequel. Yeah, so they like made it more
- 24:40bare bones for. This one because he's a prequel.
- 24:42Yeah. And I also, that also explains
- 24:44why there isn't, you know, the, the, the, what is the word that
- 24:49I'm trying to think of where it's mandatory, the whatever,
- 24:55but we don't have anybody been like, I did some research on
- 24:57this and like a few years ago there was just flight 180.
- 25:01In every single movie. Yeah, we don't have it in this,
- 25:03but The thing is like compulsory, OK, we don't have
- 25:05the compulsory Flight 180 reference, but.
- 25:08The thing is, we know that there were past events because of the
- 25:11next movie. We go back in time a little bit
- 25:13further. That's not like a spoiler or
- 25:15anything. By the way, yeah.
- 25:17It was a thing there. But the thing that I like is
- 25:21this protagonist doesn't doesn't care.
- 25:23Yeah, he cares enough to where he's like, he maps it out, but
- 25:26whenever he figures shit out, he's like, I'm accepting it.
- 25:29I don't give. A shit, yeah.
- 25:30He's like, this is what's happening.
- 25:32I also like that he did not want to be in his apartment when
- 25:35Molly was like, shouldn't we be playing it?
- 25:37Say he goes, if I'm going to die, I'm going to die at least.
- 25:39No, I yeah, I like, I like cooking.
- 25:41It was, that was refreshing. I like seeing like a different
- 25:45reaction from one of the protagonists this time around.
- 25:48So that was kind of cool. Another cool thing that's
- 25:50different. The agent believes them this
- 25:52time. Kind of.
- 25:54But he like, he knows, like, he's like, he's like, I know
- 25:57that you guys aren't doing this shit, but I know that you know
- 26:00something. And that is enough for him to be
- 26:02keeping an eye out for them. And then when he goes in there,
- 26:05unfortunately he dies. I think he would have been fully
- 26:07on board with the whole thing though.
- 26:09He knew something supernatural was going.
- 26:11On he would have become a Kate Lockley.
- 26:13OK Oh yeah. From Buffy.
- 26:15Heard about Angel. Angel.
- 26:16Yeah, yeah. But yeah, you know, that's
- 26:19that's just one of the things about this movie, is it?
- 26:21It does enough difference with what, with how they go about
- 26:26writing these characters at these scenarios that it was
- 26:30refreshing. And then that ending, just to
- 26:32cap it all off was so awesome. This one is one of the best
- 26:35ones. OK, yeah, I agree with all that
- 26:38all. Right, bad stuff.
- 26:40I am really confused about everybody's ages because.
- 26:46I think they're like fresh out of.
- 26:48College young, yes, but like Peter is like the assistant
- 26:53manager and like I know that they make a whole point about
- 26:57Nathan. He's like fresh from school.
- 26:59I assume he's got a master. 'S See, now this is an era right
- 27:02here where college degrees meant shit like it actually meant
- 27:06something in the like, 2000, yeah.
- 27:08That's why we were told to get college degrees, because back
- 27:11then it matters. Even a bachelor's degree, they'd
- 27:12be like, this guy's getting promoted top of the fucking
- 27:15company. CEO own material right here.
- 27:18You got a bachelor's in psychology.
- 27:20Some days I just look at my masters on the wall and think of
- 27:24the lies of my earning potentials.
- 27:27The biggest like rug pulled out from under us of all time I
- 27:30think. Oh cool, this is just like a
- 27:33really expensive piece of paper. That's fine.
- 27:35But it's the truth like this and this era right here, a degree
- 27:38actually got you like good jobs out out of college.
- 27:41So I I believe it the same thing with Nathan here.
- 27:44He just graduated and he's become like part of the.
- 27:47Plan. Yeah, he's assistant plant
- 27:48manager. Well, either way, like still,
- 27:50that's really good. Fresh out of college.
- 27:53Yeah, OK. OK, yeah, so I'm confused by
- 27:58their ages. I'm confused by how long Sam and
- 28:01Molly have been together. They seem like college
- 28:03sweethearts. But it also seems like when he's
- 28:06like, this is my brother's wedding.
- 28:07Like, is this like her first time meeting is family?
- 28:11I kind of get like a sense of that.
- 28:12Maybe I don't know, but it's some kind of shitty of her to be
- 28:15like I'm not going out of the blue.
- 28:16Didn't even just. Cancelled her own ticket, Yeah.
- 28:18Shitty dude, red flag. Which that should also be like a
- 28:22hint for her to be able to easily cancel a ticket that
- 28:25somebody else bought. True, yeah.
- 28:28But yeah, those are really like the.
- 28:31I'm just I'm confused about the character timelines of things.
- 28:36I understand the story timeline, but it's like the interpersonal
- 28:40dynamics I'm confused about. I got you.
- 28:42The only thing that I could really complain about with this
- 28:44movie is I feel like they strayed further into the CG
- 28:49deaths the summer round. I miss the practical deaths,
- 28:52dude. You know, like like just go
- 28:54practical effects with this shit and it would be so much more
- 28:58effective. I think whenever you like
- 28:59because the CG dates it. Yeah, it definitely.
- 29:02Does the thing that always gets me every single time is that
- 29:05shot at the end of the premonition where Sam is cut in
- 29:08half by that sheet of metal and like the zoom into his eye, you
- 29:13can tell that's just like a CGI created version of his torso and
- 29:17it just, it's jarring. Yeah.
- 29:19And just go practical. Even if you go practical and it
- 29:22doesn't look 100% accurate, it always ages better.
- 29:26Just in my personal opinion, that's really bad.
- 29:29I could say bad. Why so?
- 29:30OK, ugly. Isaac.
- 29:34That's exactly where I wrote Isaac is a fucking asshole in.
- 29:37This he is a sex fest. He's a racist.
- 29:39Yeah. He's just.
- 29:42I just don't like him. He's pretty bad, man.
- 29:45He's ugly. Yeah.
- 29:47All right. Well then, absurd.
- 29:48Absurd. I'm trying to think of like, oh,
- 29:56OK, this isn't absurd and it's not necessarily the fault of the
- 29:59movie. Maybe.
- 30:00I don't know. I don't know who's responsible
- 30:01for the captions. But near the end, at one point,
- 30:04Sam is trying to let the head chef know that he's accepting
- 30:08the internship in Paris. And when he was like chef and
- 30:11the chef responds, we and the captions, captions, it speaks
- 30:18French. I know the bare minimum.
- 30:20You don't even have to know French to know what we means and
- 30:23say we. Everybody said what the fuck,
- 30:25captions and Travis had missed it and he said oh, did they
- 30:28spell it WE? And I was like, no, somehow
- 30:32worse than that. Man, that was so funny.
- 30:37I've got a lot of beef. Since we've mentioned Angel
- 30:39already, we are at like the 5th or 6th episode.
- 30:42The J August Richards has been in the show.
- 30:45He is now a part of the opening title.
- 30:49Oh yeah and they still anytime he speaks off screen they still
- 30:54caption him as a man. He has been a named character
- 30:59for multiple episodes. It's so.
- 31:03True. Man, that's bad.
- 31:05Captions are trying me this week.
- 31:09Yeah, it's funny. That was so funny.
- 31:12When that happened I was like, it's like shout factory level.
- 31:15Sort of speaks French, speaks French.
- 31:18We all know we we like see speaks Spanish like.
- 31:25No speaks Spanish. No speaks French.
- 31:33OK, no speaks English. That would be even better if it
- 31:38speaks English. This.
- 31:39Is the captions for the entire. Movie.
- 31:41Yeah, No effort. Somebody just don't.
- 31:44Like that shit? Speaks English.
- 31:45Speaks English. OK, the only episode I had was
- 31:50the fact that they they didn't pull any research like in past
- 31:55movies with this one. And it's like, I know that that
- 31:57shit has to happen. They make that shit.
- 31:59The thing, the thing that always gets me is like there's always
- 32:02documentation about this shit in the past in these movies.
- 32:07But like who the fuck is like making records of like the
- 32:09premonitions and stuff like that?
- 32:12Well, we see with the Flight 180, there are a lot of
- 32:16newspaper articles talking about Alex's premonition.
- 32:20I think that was the first one that was like a really big like
- 32:24documented event. No, I think that they do the
- 32:27same with the next movie too. That one, I don't know if it's
- 32:35we'll have to, we'll have to rewatch, but because that one is
- 32:37so far in the past. OK The thing is I I'm surprised
- 32:42that it didn't become a story in the The Final Destination, the
- 32:48first one because they are so big on researching this shit in
- 32:52that movie. Alex is so into like looking
- 32:55into all of that stuff. Surely he would have found
- 32:57something about this. I think it, I think it would
- 33:00depend on how that first one was reported.
- 33:03If it was reported as national news or local news, I know you
- 33:07are not there yet, but they're. They seem to be in the same area
- 33:10because they leave from the same airport, so either way he should
- 33:15be aware. We'll, we'll talk about it next
- 33:18month for sure. But I'm just like thinking of
- 33:21the like 1950s research being done in 11/22/63.
- 33:29Oh, OK, I can't talk about. That yeah.
- 33:32So I'm just like, I don't know if it was local news, maybe it
- 33:36would be harder to find if it was before, you know, like.
- 33:40So I want to say they cast those people so well at the end of the
- 33:44movie. Like for the longest time I
- 33:46thought that that actually was like, I thought that they used
- 33:49like footage from the first movie, did they not?
- 33:51No, it's recasted people because I I got a better look at the
- 33:54character Alex's face. That is not Devin Salwa, but it
- 33:57looks a lot like him. Oh my God, yeah, that's yeah.
- 34:00No, I just assumed it was like at the beginning of Fast X.
- 34:03No, because they also have like a shot, like Sam is in the shot
- 34:07in that right there. But like, when you look at it,
- 34:09it's different people entirely. Wow.
- 34:11Yeah, OK. Yep, I'm pretty sure at least
- 34:14now I'm second guessing myself. But I, I, I'm pretty confident
- 34:17either way. Let's move.
- 34:17On. Yeah, let's move on.
- 34:18All right. What are you rating it?
- 34:20I'm rating it a nine. Me too.
- 34:21Yeah, this is a great. One, this is a really, it's a
- 34:24really strong entry. OK, let's let's get in go.
- 34:29I will say I hate the opening credits on this one.
- 34:32It's so basic. It's so basic, the lettering is
- 34:34very poorly kerned and also like the music feels flat to me, like
- 34:39we don't have our normal wait. Was that like for all of them?
- 34:43I feel like that was only the 4th movie.
- 34:45It was the same like tune to it, but it was a lot flatter because
- 34:50I remember like I was listening for her.
- 34:52I was like, I want those like punches.
- 34:54I want. The it's a little bit more
- 34:55subdued. Yeah, OK.
- 34:59Yeah, and emotions. Yeah, like it's me at work when
- 35:01I'm trying to like, push through the last 30 minutes of the day.
- 35:04Yeah. OK.
- 35:05So we're at presage, presage, presage, whatever.
- 35:11It's an employee retreat. We got breakfast.
- 35:14We got pancakes. Sam, Sam, Sam made a whole
- 35:18little spread in. Peter was like, I just thought
- 35:20you were going to bring us stale Donuts and you would have been
- 35:22OK with that. Peter, that sounds like
- 35:24something you could have done then, if you're going to be
- 35:25bringing that shit in. Yourself, my boy, is management
- 35:28material. He's like, I thought you were
- 35:29going to bring pizzas, I thought.
- 35:32We would get cold pizza with no variety on the topping, so if
- 35:35you have allergy and dietary restrictions, a few.
- 35:39Yeah. And like Sam's like, yeah, By
- 35:42the way, do you think this will make up for my bad sales
- 35:45numbers? And he's like, have you seen
- 35:47them, by the way? He's like, yeah, I've seen them.
- 35:48He's like as your friends get your shit together, as your boss
- 35:52and ready to fire you. Yeah, and he's also trying to
- 35:55make a decision between being a professional chef or if he's
- 35:58going to be sales guy. Yeah, which?
- 36:02Which one do you have passion for?
- 36:03Dude, sales guy sucks. I'm just sales fucking sucks.
- 36:06I've done like I've. I've dipped my toes in there.
- 36:09Not for me. I hate it.
- 36:10Molly pulls up and Sam's like, I got to go take care of my
- 36:13relationship issues. And he's like, why did you
- 36:15cancel a ticket to fly to my brother's wedding?
- 36:18And she was like, listen, this just isn't working out.
- 36:20She dumped him right before this weekend.
- 36:23Corporate retreat. She dude, like save yourself the
- 36:26trouble. She is like giving you all kinds
- 36:28of red flags right there. You do not want to live your
- 36:30life with that person. She like the the type of person
- 36:34that would do something like that.
- 36:35Nah. I get where her heart is about
- 36:38like he is holding back on his dreams for me and I don't want
- 36:41to be responsible for that. I've I get that.
- 36:46I don't think the way she did it was awesome.
- 36:48I get where she's coming from with it.
- 36:50The thing is, it could all be fixed by a simple conversation,
- 36:53which we'll have later in this movie.
- 36:55Yeah, well, and that's something I guess I could have added that
- 36:57to my absurd How had they never talked about the possibility of
- 37:01Molly moving with him to Paris? There's How had that not come
- 37:05up? Which is what makes me wonder
- 37:06how long they've actually been together.
- 37:07They're young, dumb, and in love.
- 37:10Are they that in love though? No, I don't think so.
- 37:14So Dennis pulls up and he has Sam run to go get Nathan.
- 37:19Who? You've skipped over so many
- 37:21people. We have other.
- 37:23People Candace comes up, she is an intern.
- 37:26She is dating Peter. Olivia gets dropped off by a
- 37:30band member and he reminds her to bring her glasses with her.
- 37:35She was really celeb and says we have a gig next week and she's
- 37:39like, yeah, I'll be there and then.
- 37:41Her and Candace have like a little bit of back and forth.
- 37:43Here it was. It was kind of a weird bit of
- 37:45back and forth because it doesn't play into anything
- 37:47later. It really doesn't.
- 37:48I would have liked to see more of their like relationship.
- 37:52Yeah, for sure. Me too.
- 37:53And then Isaac is just, in general, a sex fest.
- 37:56He is bugging Molly when she's clearly upset and he's like hey,
- 38:00talk to me about it, right? And then Dennis is like, what's
- 38:04the one thing we can't recycle? Peter?
- 38:07Waste of time. So Sam runs to go get Nathan who
- 38:11is fighting with the union Rep Roy who is mad that like he just
- 38:16started 3 weeks ago and he's already going to be off for a
- 38:18few days. Dude, it's not his call.
- 38:20Yeah, like if you're going to be mad, some might be mad at his
- 38:22superior that hired him. Yeah.
- 38:24And like, The thing is, I kind of, I feel really bad for Nathan
- 38:27because he has clearly not received any kind of management
- 38:29training and he does not know how to talk to this union.
- 38:32And he's just. Look, I understand both of them.
- 38:36I understand somebody just coming in out of the blue and
- 38:39like, you know, jumping you for something like that.
- 38:41Yeah. But at the same time, you know,
- 38:44be like whatever. I don't like that's the type of
- 38:47shit talking you do with your coworkers.
- 38:49Yeah. Why was he off for two days but
- 38:51he just got here? Unions man, they fucking protect
- 38:54you. Yeah, unions are great.
- 38:57That's right. So Sam is Off has been offered a
- 39:01full time position at the flagship restaurant in Paris,
- 39:05but he was worried he was going to be leaving too much behind.
- 39:09But now he's not sure that there's anything to leave
- 39:12behind. No.
- 39:13So now they're on the bus, they're heading towards the
- 39:16corporate retreats. We get a couple of little Easter
- 39:19eggs on the drive there. We get a walk truck that passes
- 39:21by. Yep, Yep, Yep.
- 39:24And then he's he's watching the video there.
- 39:26It's the 180 consulting firm that they're going.
- 39:29To 180 Corporate Consulting there is a bridge doing
- 39:33construction and the bus radio plays dust in the wind and it
- 39:41just God this is so stressful because you can see a hole
- 39:45through the bridge down into the water.
- 39:48I hate that shot man. It's so stressful, Yeah.
- 39:50And like, they're, you know, driving and we're just seeing,
- 39:53you know, various things. And you're like, this feels
- 39:54really unsafe. And it feels like maybe there's
- 39:56not enough lanes closed to doing this bridge work safely.
- 40:01And as somebody is, like, sawing through some of the concrete, a
- 40:04big crack forms, and then several of the suspension cables
- 40:08snap. Yeah.
- 40:09It's because of like a big gust of wind comes by too.
- 40:11It causes all this to happen. And what's his name?
- 40:17Sam. He he gets off the bus.
- 40:19He's getting everybody off the bus before there's he only grabs
- 40:21Molly. Well, yeah.
- 40:23Because he's only wanting to save Molly.
- 40:24Everybody else is like, you can come if you want to, but I'm
- 40:26taking Molly. Yeah.
- 40:27And so they they all run off except for Isaac, Yeah.
- 40:31He was like, we went to the bathroom to have a private
- 40:33conversation on this phone. Yeah, he was just like, yeah,
- 40:36I'm on some dumb retreat with these Dicks from work.
- 40:39So that right in front of Dennis.
- 40:40Dennis. Dennis.
- 40:42So. Yeah, OK, so first to die.
- 40:46Let's see. Let's see.
- 40:47It's Candace. Yeah, Candace is, she falls and
- 40:50is in like, because the bridge starts kind of like buckling.
- 40:55She falls and she's impaled on a sailing boat mast.
- 40:59Then Isaac is still in the bus. He comes out as the bus itself
- 41:02is falling and he like crashes, you know, hits the water really
- 41:06hard. He's killed from that impact
- 41:08slash drowning. Olivia loses her glasses much
- 41:13like Velma of yore, and she's she's crawling along unable to
- 41:18see. I have some beef with how they
- 41:23show Olivia's blind POV cause like the blurriness, yeah 'cause
- 41:28they do the blurry in and out, like with her heartbeat.
- 41:31Oh, that's weird. Yeah, yeah, that's just.
- 41:33That's not how bad vision works like your.
- 41:36Vision is tied to your. Heartbeat.
- 41:37And it's not, it's not like oh, she needs better blood flow to
- 41:41her eyes to see. That's not how it works.
- 41:43They basically did it like a fucking war movie where like a
- 41:46bomb like a bomb went off next to her and she shell shocked or.
- 41:49Something like. Ears.
- 41:53It's just that's just how her eyes are like.
- 41:55Yeah, she's like, she's like Cordelia.
- 42:00She's having a vision. OK.
- 42:05So yeah, Molly has crossed this beam that is there for them to
- 42:09like, get to the other side of the bridge, and now Olivia has
- 42:12to crawl across without being able to see much.
- 42:14And Sam is trying to guide her across, except the bridge just
- 42:18keeps buckling. So even though she gets to the
- 42:20other half of the beam, because there's a little bit of a gap,
- 42:23she it's enough that she slides down.
- 42:25She falls into the water. And she's actually like she's
- 42:28fallen in a way that it hasn't killed her, even though it's a
- 42:31pretty far fall. But then a car falls on top of
- 42:35her. She falls into a river and still
- 42:38manages to get hit by a car. That sucks for her.
- 42:41Yeah. So Nate is next.
- 42:42He's whacked by a cable just out of the blue.
- 42:44That like from the bridge. Yeah, out.
- 42:47Oh his was so quick I even missed it at my notes.
- 42:50Then we get Dennis, who falls and he's like hanging to the
- 42:54side of the bridge, and then the tar from one of the machines
- 42:58spills. I think it's like the pavement
- 42:59that they're doing to try and like redo the Yeah.
- 43:02Either way, it gets all over him and fries him.
- 43:06It had to be it had to be so stinky.
- 43:08Like they retar the the Senior Center parking lot like once
- 43:14every year or two near our house and every time I drive past it
- 43:17after work it's like it's. Almost 2.
- 43:19Weeks it smells. Awful.
- 43:20Yeah, it's it's not that great. So followed by that we have.
- 43:26Peter and, yeah, Peter and Sam are jumping to like, the railing
- 43:30on the side, and they're doing a very poor job of trying to,
- 43:34like, climb it like a ladder. That's what they need to.
- 43:36But they're like, no, this is we upper body strength only glamour
- 43:41muscles, bro. And as they're doing that, like
- 43:45a truck is falling and some rebar falls out, impales Peter.
- 43:51And then Sam goes, Oh no, and then aluminum siding or she a
- 43:56sheet of aluminum siding or aluminum something falls and
- 43:58cuts him in half as you were saying.
- 44:00Peter's by the way, they do like an extra little bit of fuck you
- 44:04because he falls also and it's just that shot of him hid and
- 44:07his head wax the side of like the pavement at the bottom.
- 44:10I actually I kind of like that as a little exclamation point.
- 44:13I liked it too. I liked it too, but it's just.
- 44:15Like a little fuck you. Well, he kind of deserves in
- 44:18this movie. Well, he didn't deserve it at
- 44:20this point. No, but I'm OK with him.
- 44:23It's OK. All right, so.
- 44:24We did. Maybe Death didn't know he was
- 44:27going to be an asshole. Maybe Death actually was just
- 44:30like, hey, this time I'm going to give this guy a premonition
- 44:33because I need him to know that his friend deserves.
- 44:37This, I mean, you made it kind of clear to me because Molly was
- 44:40going to survive this no matter what.
- 44:41She maybe, no, she doesn't die. She doesn't die here.
- 44:44She didn't die in Sam's vision. We don't know that she wouldn't
- 44:48have died after Sam. That's true, but I'm pretty sure
- 44:51that she makes it. I just have to assume that.
- 44:53Because I have to assume she doesn't because of how the movie
- 44:56ends. Oh, no, Because of what you
- 44:59said, I think that this was all part of Death's design anyways.
- 45:04It's like he was bored and he's playing chess against himself,
- 45:06and he's like, all right, I'm going to do this.
- 45:09Oh, that's a good move. Like, I've never played this on
- 45:12expert mode, Yeah. Like the whole point was to get
- 45:14them to the plane. Yeah.
- 45:18OK, so snap back to the reality. Well, there goes gravity.
- 45:21Yep, because the bridge is falling and everybody's falling.
- 45:24Yeah, Sam, Sam is like, all right, We're I'm getting off.
- 45:27This whole thing is going to crash.
- 45:29Molly, come with me. So far, the premonition is true,
- 45:32except at this point, Dennis is like, God damn it, what did I
- 45:35say about recycling? Wasted time.
- 45:38So the the group of people who get off the bus afterwards kind
- 45:41of doesn't make much. Sense To me this is the
- 45:43flimsiest like exclusive people coming.
- 45:47Off they just kind of hop off the bus, like what the hell is
- 45:49going on out here? Like what?
- 45:50What business is this of yours? Why do you care?
- 45:53You know, it just doesn't make much sense to me, like why Isaac
- 45:56of all people is hopping off the bus.
- 45:57Also, apparently there were 17 more people on that bus, but I
- 46:00call bullshit on that. I know they say like it.
- 46:03It wipes out their almost entire office.
- 46:05Listen, I've been watching a lot of Dance Moms and if it's a
- 46:10close enough competition for them to charter a bus instead of
- 46:14going via plane, like their bus looks more full.
- 46:17And that's just with the handful of team members and their moms.
- 46:21There may have been multiple buses.
- 46:24That bus wasn't even full though.
- 46:27Was it not? No, they didn't pay attention.
- 46:29No, so that's why so many people were able to sit by themselves.
- 46:32Maybe they're the last of it. Maybe they're the last crew
- 46:34right there. They get the free seats.
- 46:35I don't know. I'm making too many excuses
- 46:37right here. Doesn't matter.
- 46:39Bridge collapses. Everybody makes it across safely
- 46:41except for those that stayed on the bus.
- 46:43Yeah. And they're like, how did you
- 46:45know? And then it cut stage and block
- 46:46saying, how did you know? He doesn't really believe that
- 46:50it's a vision because it's, you know, too convenient.
- 46:52But then the another agent comes in and is like, hey, yeah, so
- 46:57it's being ruled an accident due to high winds and structural
- 47:00damage. Before that, though, I loved
- 47:02this whole bit of him interviewing each character
- 47:05because the way it's cut. But also I like how he like when
- 47:08he gets to the relationship and he asks Sam, he's like, so you
- 47:10got dumped and he's like, what does that have to do with
- 47:12anything? It's just like, it's this is
- 47:13like a personal attack, man. Like people died.
- 47:15Like why are you? Why are you grilling me about
- 47:17getting dumped today? It's just this delivery.
- 47:20Like, why does that have to do with anything?
- 47:22It's so funny. God forgive me for, you know,
- 47:27having a bad day. Yeah.
- 47:29I'm sorry I saved some lives after I got broken up with.
- 47:33If I had a premonition about the breakup, I would have tried to
- 47:36stop that too. Dude that's a good ROM comrade.
- 47:40Getting premonition about the breakup man I love it.
- 47:43OK, so 86 people died on the bridge according to the news
- 47:48those. Numbers, I believe.
- 47:50Yeah, there's been more all being held as they are in all
- 47:52Final Destination movies. Dennis I I love he's doing the
- 47:57eulogy up there and he's listening off all of the people
- 48:00that died that worked at the company, One of them he's.
- 48:03Saying nice things about all of them, except for when he gets to
- 48:06Isaac. Who could forget Isaac?
- 48:09Isaac Palmer and I love Olivia and Nathan both laughing at it.
- 48:15Yeah. And the guy behind him behind
- 48:17them is very annoyed and guy. Beside them too.
- 48:20He's giving them a stink eye. I come from a family where we
- 48:26used our humor to cope. I would have done like, you know
- 48:29what? I do what you need to do.
- 48:31Yeah, time and. Place.
- 48:34I get it. They're laughing.
- 48:35He was memorialized and he was actually dead.
- 48:38Also, Tony Todd is there and he tells them death is a petty
- 48:42bitch. Yeah.
- 48:43He imparts some wisdom on that right there.
- 48:46So we get. Sam is chefing, yeah.
- 48:51He's being a chef and his shift is over, so.
- 48:54No, he gets. First of all, he gets a, he gets
- 48:58a dish returned. I'm not going to.
- 49:00I didn't write it down because it was too French speaks.
- 49:03French speaks. French prepared.
- 49:10And he says it's flat and the chef is like, let me taste it.
- 49:14Wee. He's like, it is good.
- 49:18Speaks English. The customer is an asshole.
- 49:21He just straight up ate after this customer.
- 49:24Yeah, I thought it was a little bit weird too.
- 49:26But, you know, I think that they live a little bit weird there in
- 49:29the restaurant industry. That's true.
- 49:33These people are all drugged up back there, including Chef We.
- 49:37We and then he goes to see Molly after.
- 49:40She was like, I thought you were working the late shift.
- 49:44All restaurant shifts are the late shifts.
- 49:47It's raining, so the power is like flickering.
- 49:49This feels very much like a call back to Miss Luton's death.
- 49:52Yeah, I was thinking the same thing.
- 49:53Yeah, because she's got the tea kettle going.
- 49:56And he was like, listen, when that happened, the only thing I
- 49:58could think of was you and getting you off that bridge and
- 50:01keeping you safe. And she's like, I don't want you
- 50:05skipping out on your plans because of me.
- 50:07You should go to Paris. It's all you've ever dreamed
- 50:09about. You shouldn't stay here just
- 50:11because of me. Meanwhile, Candace is at
- 50:14gymnastics practice. By the way, I read that her
- 50:17actor is actually a trained gymnast.
- 50:19OK, I was going to say, like, I feel like the extras in the
- 50:22scene have to be like actual gymnastics.
- 50:24One of them is like a Canadian competed for Team Canada.
- 50:27OK, cool. Yeah, but like it, I have to
- 50:30assume it was the one that was on the balance beam.
- 50:31It was. Yeah, it was yeah or yeah.
- 50:33Yeah, it had to be the balance beam.
- 50:35Yeah, cuz she's actually doing a routine up there.
- 50:37Yeah, cuz there are ways to cheat it when your main
- 50:40character isn't, you know, an athlete of the type.
- 50:42But I was going to be really impressed with her character.
- 50:47But knowing that she's a gymnast that that makes sense.
- 50:50So she's got like, you know, her good luck rituals, the rubber
- 50:53bands on her wrists and 1 snaps and.
- 50:56Bad. Luck.
- 50:57And she's like nervous about it and Peter's like, listen, this
- 51:01is your last practice of your college career.
- 51:03You got nationals coming up. This will be good for you.
- 51:07I get it. And yeah, you know, I would say
- 51:08the same thing. And she's just like, honestly,
- 51:11she's finding any excuse not to do it Like that.
- 51:14Anxiety, like, I recognize it because I get very, like,
- 51:18frantic when I'm anxious like that.
- 51:20Like, oh, well, why is this thing broken?
- 51:22Like, yeah, are we OK? Not only that, the AC is not
- 51:26working. Yes, I'm not setting.
- 51:27Up fans and stuff. Yeah, and she's complaining
- 51:29about it and maintenance is working on the AC and it starts
- 51:33dripping onto the very, very freight cord of this big ass
- 51:36fan. Oh, I was reading the Fray and
- 51:39the cord there. Apparently it's shaped like a
- 51:40skull. I've never noticed that before.
- 51:43I'd have to go back and look at it because it just looks like a
- 51:46giant safety hazard and I can't believe like they didn't even
- 51:50try and put electrical tape or something over.
- 51:51It should be like we didn't know.
- 51:53Yeah. And also one of the people like
- 51:56turns on the AC unit up top as they're trying to repair it and
- 51:59it causes a screw from the top all the way down onto the
- 52:01balance beam. I call bullshit on it, like I
- 52:04can get it it's desk design, but there's no way that's screwed
- 52:06in. Have you ever tried to change
- 52:08anything with a screw in your household?
- 52:10Those things bounce like a mother fucker.
- 52:12They do, yeah. They get lost so easily.
- 52:14And I've been especially plagued by this because I am on a streak
- 52:20of just replacing all of our outlets plates and our light
- 52:24switch plates. It's you have to be real careful
- 52:27with them. Oh yeah, that's true.
- 52:29So yeah, we got, we got our nice little setup going on here.
- 52:32So we got some people doing the type beams, and this person is
- 52:36doing her whole routine or balance beam, whatever.
- 52:39Yeah, she's doing the balance beam.
- 52:41What? It's not whatever.
- 52:43We know what I meant. The balance beam.
- 52:47The balance beam is where she's at.
- 52:49What is happening? She does her routine.
- 52:51It's good. She doesn't step on the screw.
- 52:54So we're like sitting here looking at all these possible
- 52:57options and we're like, don't know what's going to cause
- 52:59accident. She's up next on the uneven
- 53:01bars. Yeah, she chalks up.
- 53:03She's doing it. The coaches are not giving very
- 53:05good coaching advice. I wonder if this comes back to.
- 53:08You. What were they saying?
- 53:09All right. Good job, Candace.
- 53:12Work it out. Go hard.
- 53:14She didn't even get a very good vertical on the bar like that
- 53:16should have been like fix your vertical Candace.
- 53:19And the person that was doing like the flips off of the what
- 53:23is it where they're like going back and forth, like they're
- 53:25like flipping up and down and then they like launch themselves
- 53:27up to another bar and then they're like doing flips and
- 53:30they have to like flip all the way off of it and do flips.
- 53:32The dismount. I said flips like.
- 53:35I didn't know which. Gymnastics.
- 53:37That's just gymnastics at its core.
- 53:40But like, where you're like, you have to, goddamn it.
- 53:42This is also part of every routine.
- 53:44But like, where you have to, like, flip and then land and
- 53:47then land perfect dismount. Yeah, I promise.
- 53:52I respect the sport. I enjoy watching it.
- 53:55We've watched it. Yeah.
- 53:56Like it's a good sport. It's super crazy what they do.
- 54:00I don't know all the terminology.
- 54:02Look, it would be the same. Do you know any of the
- 54:04terminology? It would be the same if like in
- 54:06baseball, the batter's box, if you would have called that the
- 54:09beatbox, I would have been cool with that because you do beat
- 54:11the ball out-of-the-box. You know, it's the same thing.
- 54:16But like this is like the flip the flip rod.
- 54:24Look, I swear to God I respect gymnasts.
- 54:26I promise you I do. I just don't know all the
- 54:31terminology. I said I'm exclusively referring
- 54:34to uneven bars from now. On flip rods.
- 54:36Flip rods. I know the mounts or the vault.
- 54:41There you go. There we go.
- 54:42Yeah, there we go. Either way.
- 54:47So Depths Motion's going. One of the people slips.
- 54:53She lands on the nail. Yes, the person that was on the
- 54:55balance beam after Candace lands on the screw which causes her to
- 55:00fall because it goes like all the way up in her heel.
- 55:02She knocks over the chalk bowl which falls into where the fan
- 55:08is. The fan shoots all of the chalk
- 55:10dust over to the flip bars and. Which is where Candace is.
- 55:15And Candace bails out of her dismount very poorly.
- 55:18Yeah, like so poorly. She dies.
- 55:20Yes, she like breaks all of her bones.
- 55:23I'm going to relate to Ken or not Ken.
- 55:25Olivia here and like say I'm surprised that shit doesn't
- 55:27happen more often. How does that shit not happen
- 55:30more often? In a weird way it's almost like
- 55:33Olivia respects the sport cuz she's like, do you see the
- 55:36insane stuff? I respect.
- 55:39It's insane. I got to see people do that
- 55:41show. I'm like, how do you not have
- 55:42like life altering injuries every so often?
- 55:45You know, it boils my mind. Well you definitely have life
- 55:48altering injuries, it's the life ending ones that are more rare.
- 55:51I'm well, life altering injuries happen in all sports, but I feel
- 55:55like it would. I feel like that rate that would
- 55:57happen with gymnastics, gymnastics should be higher.
- 56:00Well, I mean, and that's why they do things like Simone
- 56:02Giles, who is like without exaggeration or cliche, she is
- 56:07the greatest gymnast of all time.
- 56:09She has done such difficult stunts that they will
- 56:13purposefully underrate the stunt she does because they don't want
- 56:18other gymnasts who do not have the same level of skill as her
- 56:21to try and do it, so that way they get a higher starting
- 56:24score. I understand that, but I think
- 56:26that's kind of bullshit. So like neuter somebody for
- 56:29their skill. Yes, no, I definitely agree.
- 56:32But that's that's why they do it is because they don't want other
- 56:34gymnasts to be like, well, I'm going to do the stunts.
- 56:37That way I have like a higher possible total score.
- 56:39That's so stupid. It would be like in baseball, be
- 56:40like, you can't pitch 105 mph because I have this Troye
- 56:43pitcher's arm. If you can fucking do it, do it.
- 56:46OK, whatever we're getting. Off.
- 56:47Yes, we're yeah. OK, so he she's dead.
- 56:50Yeah. Sam stops by to comfort Peter,
- 56:54and Peter is just in disbelief. He feels guilty because he
- 56:57encouraged her to do the practice.
- 56:59Yeah, he was like, she didn't want to, and I made her.
- 57:01Yeah, and then Sam sees Blood Worth in the background.
- 57:06Yeah. This is they don't know he's the
- 57:07coroner yet and they just he's just showing up at all these
- 57:10random. Oh, this is a creepy guy.
- 57:12I. Would understand that would be
- 57:13creeped out too. OK.
- 57:17So they're at pre Sage and it looks like they were trying to
- 57:20like box up some desks. Just people.
- 57:23They're they're showing up at work, but they're really not
- 57:25doing anything. And like, I get that.
- 57:28Yeah, because I've I've been there.
- 57:30Unfortunately there we had a Co worker pass away.
- 57:33This was several years ago, but I still remember that day at
- 57:35work because like, we all still had to work, but we're just like
- 57:39going through the motions. Yeah, cuz it's just like it's
- 57:43it's weird. I'm sure I've never had that
- 57:45happen, but I can only imagine it'd be strange.
- 57:48And yeah, everybody's just come talking in the office there, and
- 57:51they noticed Peter's just kind of being like they're surprised
- 57:54that he's there. Yeah, but he's just needing a
- 57:56distraction, so. I do like Dennis in the office.
- 57:58He's talking to somebody from corporate about all the steps he
- 58:01needs to do and he's like, shouldn't this be the like
- 58:03administrative manager? He's like the administrative
- 58:06manager is dead. Dennis, He's like, Are you sure
- 58:09you don't need somebody from corporate to come out?
- 58:11Like, listen, even if Dennis was a competent manager, the fact
- 58:15that like so many people like that's a, there's a lot to
- 58:19process with that type of thing. I mean paperwork wise, not just
- 58:21emotionally but like. And also responsibility wise,
- 58:24sharing commands like who does who's doing what here.
- 58:27Yeah, like you should send somebody from corporate to
- 58:29assist either way. Yeah, like that should be a
- 58:31thing that you do, but. Well, they're all just kind.
- 58:33Of corporate and a corporate. Yeah, they're all up there.
- 58:36Just kind of chilling now. And then Nate comes up up, he's
- 58:39got that six pack that he stole from Roy.
- 58:41So they're all like, hell yeah, let's make today interesting.
- 58:43And then Peter's like, I've got some alcohol to drop some whole
- 58:46bottle. It's like I'm going to drink
- 58:48this here with you guys or else I'm going to get drunk all by
- 58:50myself and. That's just sad.
- 58:51Like I'm going to be sad drunk either way.
- 58:53I can be sad drunk with friends, or really really drunk and sad
- 58:56by myself. Peter is the type of sad drunk
- 58:58that you don't want to be around though.
- 59:00Yeah. He is like one of those
- 59:01destructive. Peter's the guy that like you
- 59:04invite out because you're like, he just lost his girlfriend.
- 59:07That's really bad. Let's try and get him like out
- 59:09of the house. And then it's you're like, oh,
- 59:11no, this is not the environment Peter needed to be in.
- 59:15This is not it. And Isaac has gone through desks
- 59:19and he found that coupon that we should have clocked from RPOV as
- 59:23being expired. Oh.
- 59:26Yeah, Yep. So he wonders over there, and he
- 59:28redeems it. Hold on.
- 59:33Oh, OK, never mind. There's a lot of back and forth
- 59:35with this. Yeah, yeah, cuz like also while
- 59:37this is happening, Olivia's like her rides showed.
- 59:40Up. Yeah, she's gonna leave.
- 59:41Yeah, but as she's leaving, she knocks over her picture that's
- 59:44on her desk and it's like a little.
- 59:45This is the one premonition we get in this movie of like an
- 59:47upcoming death, I think. Yeah.
- 59:49Which is just her eye is like shattered over.
- 59:52Yeah, everybody else does a toast except for Peter.
- 59:56He is sad and then he's angry. He throws some shit against the
- 1:00:00wall. So Dennis calls Detective or
- 1:00:02Angel Agent Block about his outbursts.
- 1:00:05And he keeps just calling him a random stuff.
- 1:00:07Yeah, and like, I'm sure like I can, you can tell that Block is
- 1:00:11annoyed, but also he is still taking it seriously.
- 1:00:14This. Has probably been the 10th call,
- 1:00:15yeah. So, yeah.
- 1:00:16So Peter just got mad. He's like, is that weird?
- 1:00:19He's like, I mean, probably not like.
- 1:00:23Like call me when something. Actually happens.
- 1:00:26So Isaac goes to this massage parlor and he is just full of
- 1:00:31microaggression. Yeah, I mean, he's just being
- 1:00:34racist, sexist, all kinds of shit here.
- 1:00:37He's very strongly implying he's wanting to get a hand job
- 1:00:42instead of an actual massage. Yeah, so like they take, she's
- 1:00:46like, oh, I know exactly what you need.
- 1:00:48So she takes him back, gets him on the table, and then he closes
- 1:00:52his eyes, opens it up, and it's like one of the elder employees.
- 1:00:56Her name is Cho Cho, which interestingly, the captions give
- 1:01:00us her name. Speaks Chinese.
- 1:01:03Yes. Yes.
- 1:01:05But like she's actually speaking like they.
- 1:01:08Actually, give us some time for what?
- 1:01:09She's saying this time around. Actually put some effort into
- 1:01:12it. They just must hate the French.
- 1:01:14Apparently. Fuck in Paris.
- 1:01:17So yeah, she's being very aggressive.
- 1:01:20She's like realigning his spine and show like that and.
- 1:01:24He seems shocked and upset, but also like when she's done
- 1:01:27cracking his bones he's like, actually I feel pretty good.
- 1:01:30I feel like I could use that. It felt like it looked like it
- 1:01:32would be, really. Yeah, like that first back crack
- 1:01:35I just went. Yeah, and then she follows it up
- 1:01:38with some acupuncture. And he, I will give.
- 1:01:42I will agree with him on this one thing.
- 1:01:44Please, please, for the love of God, can we get new needles or
- 1:01:48at least disinfect these? Yeah.
- 1:01:51Yeah. And so she does.
- 1:01:52And here's The thing is that some people can understand a
- 1:01:54language that they can't speak it.
- 1:01:55So when he's like you do speak English, he doesn't know for
- 1:02:01sure that she speaks English. Just could have like, it's like
- 1:02:04when we're talking Italia like. Yeah, we as the audience know
- 1:02:08she speaks English because she says in Chinese with actual
- 1:02:12translated captions. Of course I speak English, but
- 1:02:14why would I want to talk to you? Yeah.
- 1:02:16Toshi OK. So one of these days, son, you
- 1:02:21are going to have to teach me Japanese.
- 1:02:25So she's like, OK, fall asleep for 30 minutes, I'll be back.
- 1:02:29And she moves his phone to the other side because she's like no
- 1:02:31distractions sleep. Yes.
- 1:02:33So he starts to well, she lets an instance.
- 1:02:37Before she leaves the instance, kind of, it erupts into a fire.
- 1:02:42It doesn't erupt. So it is not like the ash falls
- 1:02:46instead of into the tray. It falls onto a book that is
- 1:02:48below the incense holder that catches on fire and he is
- 1:02:53shouting, hey, there's a fire in here.
- 1:02:55And the walls are very thick, which we have noted because he
- 1:02:58was being gross when he came in and said I'm very noisy.
- 1:03:01I hope these walls are thick. So he's like, oh God, there's a
- 1:03:05fire. One of the legs on the table had
- 1:03:09come loose. So he tries to move.
- 1:03:11The whole table buckles under him and he falls more of those
- 1:03:15needles, like they go really far into him and they bend.
- 1:03:19Some of them are right there at his heart.
- 1:03:21Yeah, And it's, listen, I agree it's an issue.
- 1:03:25I agree it's something that needs to be taken care of.
- 1:03:27You're in a room with a fire, Slowly pull out these needles.
- 1:03:30Once you're out of that room, if he stops to pull a couple of
- 1:03:33them out and then he's about to walk out, here's his phone.
- 1:03:38And you can see him consider like, I should go grab my phone.
- 1:03:42And in the time that happens, the alcohol bottle which has
- 1:03:45spilled, that catches on fire. And now more of the room is on
- 1:03:48fire because, you know, it's a big spill of alcohol.
- 1:03:50It's kind. Of like an explosion, it
- 1:03:52launches them against the wall. He threw himself back a little
- 1:03:54bit. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:03:58Sell on the call later. While he falls up against the
- 1:04:01wall, the Buddha statue that he was knocking on before falls
- 1:04:05down right onto his head and crashes or crushes it so.
- 1:04:12Yeah, so now we cut to Sam realizing that Molly can just
- 1:04:18move with him. Yeah, like they can like they
- 1:04:21can do that. Then they get the news of Isaac.
- 1:04:25So they all, you know, are outside of the the parlor.
- 1:04:30And they're like, hey, here's. Another thing, I don't
- 1:04:31understand why they all go to each other's death scenes.
- 1:04:34Like I, if I, if I, I just wouldn't.
- 1:04:37Yeah, it's just weird to me. But they're all.
- 1:04:39Yes, because they don't even know.
- 1:04:41They're not even friends with Isaac.
- 1:04:42Yeah, they're not friends with Isaac and they don't really know
- 1:04:44that like. There's a strategy.
- 1:04:46Yeah, because, but they do see Bloodworth there and they're
- 1:04:50like, dude, why are you always here?
- 1:04:52And he just like looks at him and doesn't say anything and
- 1:04:55then closes the van door which just.
- 1:04:58Doing my job. Yeah, it it says corner on the
- 1:05:02back of his jacket, on the back of his jacket and on the back of
- 1:05:04the van. So, and he's like, I'm gonna
- 1:05:08tell you guys, this isn't the first time I've seen this shit
- 1:05:10go down. Yeah, Death has a plan and you
- 1:05:13guys fucked with it. You guys are A Wrinkle in Time
- 1:05:15that was not meant to be. So he's sorting that out.
- 1:05:18The past is obdurate. I read that 110 times this last
- 1:05:24week. Yeah, so they they kind of get
- 1:05:27the gist of what's going on here.
- 1:05:28He does tell them, though. The only way to do to get out of
- 1:05:31it is I think he tells them about the dying thing.
- 1:05:33But also, I think this is the first time he's shared this bit
- 1:05:36of knowledge with somebody you got to kill to gain a life.
- 1:05:39I think this is his theory anyway.
- 1:05:42But he's never shared that with anybody else.
- 1:05:45Well, because you have to remember this is technically,
- 1:05:48chronologically the first in the movie.
- 1:05:51Yeah. And so especially once we talk
- 1:05:54about bloodlines next month, I think this is his first, like,
- 1:05:57theorizing of this. He's like, OK, you, you know,
- 1:06:00Death is an accountant. It just wants the columns to add
- 1:06:04up. So swap your years out with
- 1:06:06somebody else, and then he's gonna figure out after all of
- 1:06:10this that maybe it doesn't exactly work that way.
- 1:06:13Yeah, I mean, it does work that way, but you know.
- 1:06:16Like, but death is still like, no, it's not gonna work as
- 1:06:19neatly as you want it to work, right?
- 1:06:22So Molly didn't die in the vision.
- 1:06:26And so like, as they're all trying to sit there and work it
- 1:06:28out and Peter gets mad that Molly didn't die.
- 1:06:30I know I don't understand because like, Sam saved her, but
- 1:06:33like, Sam died, you know? It's not like it's like if you
- 1:06:36listen to anything, Bloodworth said, death was going to get her
- 1:06:39if it wanted. And I got I got a fantastic
- 1:06:42picture of this. I need to send it to you so you
- 1:06:44can put it up with our trailers. But like, we pause it at a
- 1:06:46moment where he says Molly made it.
- 1:06:48She didn't die. And Molly looks fucking pissed
- 1:06:51in that moment, both that he's saying it and also like maybe
- 1:06:55she wishes that she too. Died to not share their shit,
- 1:06:58right? Now, yeah, like seriously, do
- 1:06:59you see how unstable he is? Yeah.
- 1:07:02So yeah. And this is going to be Peter's
- 1:07:05obsession for the rest of the movie.
- 1:07:08Molly, Sam and Nathan decide that they're going to go look
- 1:07:10for Olivia because I want to figure out, you know, trying to
- 1:07:13warn. They want to warn her.
- 1:07:14Yeah. So she is actually getting
- 1:07:16LASIK. She had her first consultation a
- 1:07:18while ago. The.
- 1:07:19Scene fucking kills me. Oh I hate action movies.
- 1:07:23And it starts with her being put in the chair and they use the
- 1:07:27fucking like like the things to hold her eyelids open.
- 1:07:30Oh my God, I can't handle it all.
- 1:07:33Right. OK, You know what was terrible?
- 1:07:35So I'm used to when I have any kind of procedure that involves
- 1:07:39anesthesia, you do those things after the person's asleep.
- 1:07:43Yeah, except for when I had to get an upper scope.
- 1:07:47They put the mouth thingy in my mouth before I was out.
- 1:07:51They're like open up. And I was like, I'm still awake.
- 1:07:53They're like, we'll take care of that in a minute.
- 1:07:55But I was like, what? And then they're like, well, in
- 1:07:583-2 and then, you know, the room went skinny on me.
- 1:08:03They were. Trying to go fast.
- 1:08:04They were trying to go. I had a schedule.
- 1:08:05There I was, so afraid that like I was going to be awake for the
- 1:08:10scope going down my throat. That's scary.
- 1:08:13That's a terrifying. Thing, Yeah, but like, I've
- 1:08:15never been alert enough to like, witnessed that medical
- 1:08:19equipment. Like, I know I've had catheters
- 1:08:21during surgery. I have no conscious recollection
- 1:08:24of them being put in or taken out.
- 1:08:26Yep. I don't.
- 1:08:27All I know is that it hurts to pee for a while after a
- 1:08:30catheter. That's that's as much
- 1:08:32information as I need about the experience.
- 1:08:36So OK, she's getting her IO wazered.
- 1:08:38It's wasting time. More than time.
- 1:08:44The machine goes a little bit wonky though.
- 1:08:46It goes a little bit too hard. Yeah, so she's, first of all,
- 1:08:49she's got the teddy bear and she's squeezing the life out of
- 1:08:52like, and also this LASIK office, I don't know why.
- 1:08:55It just it takes me back to 13D movies where you're like super,
- 1:08:58super common, you know, like in 2011.
- 1:09:00Yes. And they can drop off their
- 1:09:03glasses in the little bucket and makes you think of, you know how
- 1:09:05you have to do that after a 3D movie?
- 1:09:07I always kept them. I was like, I'll wear these one.
- 1:09:11Day my movies are so expensive nowadays.
- 1:09:14Yep. That's me.
- 1:09:17But yeah, so she's really, really nervous.
- 1:09:20And the doctor opens up this file and he's like, it's an
- 1:09:22incomplete file. I'll be right back.
- 1:09:24Just leaves are in there, strapped in, and the machine
- 1:09:28starts beeping. She's freaking out.
- 1:09:29She's like, should this beeping? Nobody's answering.
- 1:09:31So she reaches for the remote, knocks it to the floor, hits a
- 1:09:35button, and that button apparently means laser.
- 1:09:37Go crazy. Yeah, and Laser do go crazy and
- 1:09:41starts burning her fucking eyeball.
- 1:09:43Yeah. And then it's.
- 1:09:44Roasting. Our trio from the sidewalk has
- 1:09:46run, and they're like, where's Olivia Castle?
- 1:09:48She's in danger. And the doctors like, no, I do
- 1:09:50this procedure several times a day, like it's perfectly safe.
- 1:09:52And then they hear her screaming.
- 1:09:54They walk and she has managed to pull the eye thingy out.
- 1:09:57Every single I've seen this movie, I don't know how many
- 1:09:59times, but every single time I expect to see her eye come out
- 1:10:01with it. Yeah, oh God, I can't stand.
- 1:10:03It and she's like cut her hand because she was trying to block
- 1:10:05the block the laser and has cut her hand.
- 1:10:08She finally manages to get out of the chair.
- 1:10:12She is a wreck. They all come in, they see her
- 1:10:14and she goes help me and she trips and like I said she pulls
- 1:10:18the Bella swan and just flies through a window that is too far
- 1:10:22away for her to organically trip into with enough speed.
- 1:10:24You need to bust the window. Yep, and she just fucking
- 1:10:27crashes. And then her eye pops out.
- 1:10:30Oh yeah, that's right. So Asian confronts Sam and he's
- 1:10:35like look dude, I know like look I don't think you did this one.
- 1:10:39OK 2. Two deaths are an accident, 3 is
- 1:10:41a pattern. I don't think you did this.
- 1:10:44However, five systems had to fail for this to go as wrong as
- 1:10:48it did. Yeah, he's like, I just want to
- 1:10:51know, like. Tell me something.
- 1:10:53Yeah, give me something to work with, yeah.
- 1:10:55And they're like, we don't know what's up.
- 1:10:56He's like, I know you know something.
- 1:10:57And he's like, well, OK, we think that we were supposed to
- 1:11:01die that day. And now that we didn't die,
- 1:11:03death is now killing US1 at a time to fix it.
- 1:11:05And Agent Block is like, God damn it, what did I say?
- 1:11:10I think he kind of believes it there.
- 1:11:11He's like, huh, He's, he's, he's sitting on that one.
- 1:11:15So Sam is trying to remember the order because he has figured out
- 1:11:18that they're dying in the order that they would have on the
- 1:11:20bridge. So it's like we got to figure
- 1:11:22out who's next. We cut to Nathan, who's working
- 1:11:26on the time cards and Roy wrote fuck you on his time card.
- 1:11:30And Nathan's like, dude, you can't do that.
- 1:11:32He's like, you cut my hours. He's like, I didn't cut your
- 1:11:35hours. Corporate cut your hours.
- 1:11:37Because in case you hadn't noticed, half the office is
- 1:11:40dead. There's not as much work for you
- 1:11:41to do here right now. Yeah, got to Scull back 50%.
- 1:11:44So Roy and him get into a shouting match.
- 1:11:47There is a crane that's above them and Nate's like, hey dude,
- 1:11:51we need to move. But Roy is not listening to
- 1:11:54anything and then it falls and. So Nathan, like, kind of pushes
- 1:11:58him, and it feels like maybe he's trying to push him out of
- 1:12:00the way, but it pushes him into the way and Roy falls through a
- 1:12:07hole in the floor. Yeah, because the crane, like
- 1:12:11the crane, knocks it down. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:12:12And he falls onto the crane hook, and it like impales him.
- 1:12:16Right through the jaw. Yeah, and so Peter, Molly and
- 1:12:21Sam run in and. Peter's like, you fucking did
- 1:12:24it, didn't you? You killed him.
- 1:12:26He's like, dude, no, I did not. I was like, yes, you did.
- 1:12:28Tell me you did. And then he's silent for a
- 1:12:30little bit. He's listening.
- 1:12:31I know everybody's there. And he's like, yeah, I think I
- 1:12:34did. I think I did.
- 1:12:35And then Dennis comes down because Dennis just found that
- 1:12:37they're all laid off. No, yeah, he's like, like
- 1:12:40Peter's like, OK, who's next? And he's like, well, and then
- 1:12:43Dennis Anderson's like, what the fuck happened down here?
- 1:12:45And then a wrench just boom. Yeah.
- 1:12:47Because we we'd seen, like, some of the hydraulic presses during,
- 1:12:50you know, Nathan and Roy's whole argument.
- 1:12:52So you're like, oh, those are going to be part of it.
- 1:12:54Nope. They're part of Dennis's death.
- 1:12:55Dude death was like on one right here.
- 1:12:57He like rattled 2 off back-to-back.
- 1:13:01I'm like, boom, gonna get Nate then Dennis.
- 1:13:03Yeah, but I will say cuz Peter had spoken to Dennis just before
- 1:13:07this happened and he's like listen, it's killer be killed.
- 1:13:10Yeah, he told him. Yeah, and Dennis calls Agent
- 1:13:11Block and he's like, no, there was an actual threat this time.
- 1:13:14He wasn't just mad, he said killer be killed, I felt.
- 1:13:17That he was mad. He was mad at me.
- 1:13:18But. OK, so Molly doesn't want Sam to
- 1:13:22go to work. And he's like, listen, I need to
- 1:13:23not live in fear. How about you come to the
- 1:13:26restaurant after I'm done and I'll cook you some dinner?
- 1:13:29So there's lots of danger in the kitchen.
- 1:13:30But I like how we don't get a full shift of it.
- 1:13:32We just see him look a little bit nervous, and then he gets to
- 1:13:34work. And I feel like that is a good
- 1:13:37metaphor of dealing with trauma. Like, you do the work.
- 1:13:43You recognize you know the things that are upsetting and
- 1:13:46triggering and also present a possible danger, but you figure
- 1:13:50out ways that you can cope with it.
- 1:13:52Right. So it's the end of the shift.
- 1:13:55Sam's like Hey, Mr. Head Chef. And yeah, he's like, he says we,
- 1:14:00yeah, he speaks French, but he tells them that he will take the
- 1:14:04apprenticeship if the offer still stands.
- 1:14:06And he goes, It's yours. Oh, and here we go.
- 1:14:08I It's so boy. Cafe Miro 81 is the name of the
- 1:14:13restaurant. Yeah.
- 1:14:15So that's where we're at. It's now I'm.
- 1:14:17Going to look up what Miro means in French.
- 1:14:19OK, so Sam has prepared dinner for Molly.
- 1:14:23They're there in the restaurant, he's serving the dinner up, and
- 1:14:27then there's a knock on the door.
- 1:14:29It's Peter who is looking super disheveled.
- 1:14:33Huh. What does it mean?
- 1:14:35Commonly used as a familiar adjective meaning nearsighted or
- 1:14:38blind, as a batch quote, UN quote.
- 1:14:41I feel like that's got to be something for like the visions
- 1:14:45he's having. Right.
- 1:14:45Yeah. Yeah, interesting.
- 1:14:48OK, well, OK, so Peter enters. He's like super disheveled.
- 1:14:51He's well at first. He's just staring through the
- 1:14:54vengeance window as I wrote it in my notes, like, because he
- 1:14:59sees Molly and Sam having a nice dinner and then he comes in.
- 1:15:02He's like, listen. He invites himself in like a
- 1:15:04vampire. He's like, are you going to
- 1:15:05invite me in? Yeah, and Sam does, and they try
- 1:15:10and give him some food or drink, and he's like, so I went outside
- 1:15:14and there are a lot of opportunities to kill people.
- 1:15:17And Molly's like, oh, Peter, tell me you didn't.
- 1:15:20He goes no, because I realized I couldn't kill somebody who
- 1:15:23didn't deserve to die. But then I thought to myself,
- 1:15:26did Candace deserve to die? And then I thought to myself,
- 1:15:29Molly, why do you deserve to live?
- 1:15:32That I don't understand his logic here.
- 1:15:35This is just somebody trying to rationalize what he wants to do.
- 1:15:38Yeah, really, he's just trying to make it make sense in his
- 1:15:40head. So he pulls out the gun and he
- 1:15:43starts to try and kill Molly and Molly runs back to the kitchen.
- 1:15:47Sam tries to interfere but they get into like a little scuffle
- 1:15:50there and he knocks Sam out with some equipment.
- 1:15:53No, he like piss and whips him. Yeah, and then he starts just,
- 1:15:55like, turning on everything in the kitchen because he's like,
- 1:15:58listen, Molly, I'm going to kill you.
- 1:16:01It will save me. And then it'll be Sam's turn.
- 1:16:04I'm not going to kill Sam, but I'm also going to make the job a
- 1:16:06lot easier for death. He's like, so you won't have to
- 1:16:09live without. What an asshole.
- 1:16:10Yeah, and then Agent Block, here's the gunshots he comes in.
- 1:16:15Yeah, he knew. He knew something was going to
- 1:16:18happen with those 3. And so he goes in and he finds
- 1:16:21Molly 1st and she's like, listen, it's Peter.
- 1:16:24He's gone crazy. And then Peter comes up behind
- 1:16:26him and shoots him. And then the lights flicker and
- 1:16:28he's like, looks like I got Agent Block's ears.
- 1:16:31And then Molly's like, cool, so we're good, I guess.
- 1:16:34You just witnessed the murder of a federal agent, Molly.
- 1:16:37I can't leave any loose ends. I don't know what you think this
- 1:16:40scene in the kitchen is about to be Peter, but.
- 1:16:44Yeah, dude, yeah. What?
- 1:16:46He's very short sighted. Here, Yeah.
- 1:16:49So he, like Sam, jumps out of nowhere and tackles them and
- 1:16:53then they get into like a full blown wrestling match here.
- 1:16:56Yeah, at one point the gun lands on the gas range, which is on on
- 1:17:01Molly ends up joining in on the fight, too.
- 1:17:03And there's just like a lot of back and forth.
- 1:17:05And Sam eventually skewers Peter with like the Big.
- 1:17:11Skewer. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:17:13I was gonna say meat rotator. I don't know.
- 1:17:15I have not. We're calling them flippy rods,
- 1:17:16we're calling those meat rotators.
- 1:17:20We're just coming up with the names for things.
- 1:17:22So we need to just like put out an an official the final
- 1:17:25destination dictionary. Yeah, we also have butt guts,
- 1:17:28which we will get to see butt guts again.
- 1:17:30You're right, you're right. But yeah, so they're like, is it
- 1:17:35over? And then the gun finally shoots
- 1:17:37because it's overheated enough and it misses both of them.
- 1:17:39They're like, OK, cool. So it is over 2 weeks later, Sam
- 1:17:45and Molly, they're on a flight. They're getting ready to go to
- 1:17:47Paris. They're excited.
- 1:17:49They're full of beans. Yeah, And then there's a fight
- 1:17:53that breaks out. We see kids get escorted off the
- 1:17:55plane and. Look awfully familiar?
- 1:17:58Yeah, it looks awfully familiar. And they ask the woman next to
- 1:18:03him. They're like, oh, it's just some
- 1:18:04high school kids. One of them panics that he
- 1:18:07thought the plane was going to crash and like.
- 1:18:09Sounds like Oh no. Yeah, and then he cuts his thumb
- 1:18:13on the seat in front of him, and the plane has taken off and it's
- 1:18:17shaky and the lights are flashing and they're like, well,
- 1:18:19shit. Yep, looks out to the left.
- 1:18:22The engine exploded. Yep, and.
- 1:18:26We we see their tickets, it is like 180 to Paris.
- 1:18:29I thought it was. Yeah.
- 1:18:30I thought it was cool that we get to see what actually
- 1:18:32happened on Flight 180 this time.
- 1:18:33Yeah, Molly gets like sucked out of there.
- 1:18:35And yeah, she and she hits a wing in this split in half, much
- 1:18:39like Sam was in his premonition. Yeah, you're right.
- 1:18:43And Sam, holy shit, he gets a bad one.
- 1:18:45The plane explodes, but like, he's not instant death.
- 1:18:47He's just being like the flames are just hitting his face.
- 1:18:50I mean, it looks exactly like Alex's death in the first one
- 1:18:54where he's just being roasted in the face.
- 1:18:57Meanwhile there's a pub and they're doing a memorial for
- 1:19:00Ray. God, I love this.
- 1:19:02I like this one. Worker comes up and goes, Roy,
- 1:19:06OK, yeah, my handwriting's just bad.
- 1:19:08And he's like, it was good of you to come, Nathan.
- 1:19:10Nathan's like, I mean, I didn't like the guy, but I also don't
- 1:19:13think he that was a terrible way to die.
- 1:19:15And he's like, well, he didn't have long anyway.
- 1:19:17He goes, what do you mean he goes?
- 1:19:18Well, the company, they did an autopsy for insurance reasons
- 1:19:20since I have it on company grounds.
- 1:19:22And he was ready to have a very like an aneurysm any day now, a
- 1:19:27blood. Vessel on his head that was just
- 1:19:29about to pop. Yeah, and.
- 1:19:32And you could just see. Nathan's like and then there's a
- 1:19:35piece of airplane debris that crashes into the bar.
- 1:19:37Oh my God chills. All this is so fucking crazy.
- 1:19:40I love that ending. This ending is so good.
- 1:19:42Yeah, 'cause like, at that point we'd forgotten about Nathan.
- 1:19:44I did. Yeah, I was like, Oh yeah.
- 1:19:45Like I didn't even think about him, but damn.
- 1:19:48Just to like, fucking do Nathan dirty like that.
- 1:19:51They all die. Which does that mean that Agent
- 1:19:54Block, was he going to die because if.
- 1:19:59I think so. Peter got his years, but then
- 1:20:02they killed Peter. No, no.
- 1:20:03I. Think did they get Peter's?
- 1:20:06Oh, he was. Going to die then New Years.
- 1:20:08Yeah, yeah, he took Blocks. What if Block was supposed to be
- 1:20:11on that flight? That's what I'm saying.
- 1:20:14Fuck dude death you fucking trick.
- 1:20:18We do like an alternate timeline of all of these movies where
- 1:20:20just like 1 little change like affects the outcomes of all the
- 1:20:24rest of the movies. Just redo all of them that'd.
- 1:20:26Be amazing, I would love that. OK, but that's it.
- 1:20:30That's it. I still think it's a nine I.
- 1:20:32Do too. I'm right there with you. 9 good
- 1:20:35time man. What did Talia think of it?
- 1:20:39OK, well, Talia was very playful during this movie.
- 1:20:41She was. She actually really loved it.
- 1:20:43She loves it when traffic is bad because then she gets to bark at
- 1:20:48us and stand in the car and be like drive faster.
- 1:20:51I guess so, like we can make eye contact with the other people in
- 1:20:53the cars, yeah. She especially especially loves
- 1:20:56it if there's a motorcycle stuck in traffic.
- 1:20:59I like her. Her favorite thing in the world.
- 1:21:01She loves motorcycles, and if somebody on a motorcycle
- 1:21:05acknowledges her while she's in a car, I think that is as close
- 1:21:08to Nirvana as Talia has ever gotten.
- 1:21:10Yeah, that's the highlight of her day.
- 1:21:13So I think Talia would also give this a nine.
- 1:21:15OK, Zoe's ultimate warrior. I think it was Sam because Sam
- 1:21:23has been using the same wrestling moves that she's been
- 1:21:26using on Cordelia the past few days.
- 1:21:28There we go. That whole like, like launching
- 1:21:30her with their two back feet. Yeah, they've been fighting so
- 1:21:33hard the past few days, like play fighting.
- 1:21:35But like, Zoe is still a bigger cat.
- 1:21:37I don't. Think Zoe's playing, I think Zoe
- 1:21:39is. Trying Zoe didn't want to get
- 1:21:41into it, she would have ran away.
- 1:21:42But Zoe is like, I think Zoe's happy to have somebody to throw
- 1:21:45down with cuz she's like Scout never wants to fight.
- 1:21:48Scout only wants to fight Zoe when Zoe doesn't want to fight
- 1:21:51because Scout's lazy and she doesn't want to have to fight
- 1:21:54too hard, but she still wants to win.
- 1:21:57That's exactly right. So that's what happened, Yeah.
- 1:22:01Is this a hoot or a holler for Cordelia?
- 1:22:06She's never seen the first one. So she's like, what's the big
- 1:22:07deal, guys? Shoot, but she is she was
- 1:22:10playful and then she eventually settled it and like watched it.
- 1:22:13That's true. She was.
- 1:22:14She was into. It she actually does pay
- 1:22:16attention to movies. So I think this was a hoot.
- 1:22:20OK, I'll, I'll accept that. OK.
- 1:22:23Who did you relate to? Well, I related to Nate because
- 1:22:30if I were in that same situation there, I would bring a fucking 6
- 1:22:33pack to work of no, if we're in full fuck it mode, that's like
- 1:22:37yeah, let's just like fuck it, whatever, let's get drunk at
- 1:22:39work. That seems like a great idea.
- 1:22:44I think I probably relate to the guy in corporate trying to talk
- 1:22:48Dennis through how to do it. Yeah, and.
- 1:22:51Dennis, being like this isn't my job and the corporate driving
- 1:22:54like, well, it is actually, yeah.
- 1:22:58OK. Cool, we don't do a dream sequel
- 1:23:01for this. No, but we do need to ask what
- 1:23:04would Dom Toretto do? What would Dom Toretto do?
- 1:23:10He wouldn't have been stuck in traffic on that bridge in the
- 1:23:121st place. This wouldn't have ever been an
- 1:23:15issue for him. Because like, well, we watched
- 1:23:18Fast Sex last night. Yeah, we did.
- 1:23:20Which is like Dom, Toretto and Prime, like navigating, like
- 1:23:26roads and like structures. Listen and we have a very good
- 1:23:29stuff. Drove down like a fucking
- 1:23:30staircase and stopped a bomb, you know what I mean?
- 1:23:32We have a very good thesis we've been working on about how the
- 1:23:36Fast and Furious franchise is just Dragon Ball for.
- 1:23:40You're about to say grown men. A grown men.
- 1:23:42No, I was gonna say for dudes who don't wanna admit they like
- 1:23:45anime. Okay, yeah, it's.
- 1:23:47Anime that I mean there are people like you who acknowledge
- 1:23:50both. It's making a lot of really
- 1:23:53great parallels. So maybe we'll share that with
- 1:23:55you all at some point, but. True.
- 1:23:57Fast and Furious would not exist without Dragon Ball is basically
- 1:24:00what I'm saying. Yes, but he would, Yeah.
- 1:24:02I I feel like this is one that he could outrun Death.
- 1:24:05Like Death cannot get Dom Toretto on the bridge, at least
- 1:24:09like if there are other ways. You can, yeah.
- 1:24:10No, we've seen it in so many movies like that.
- 1:24:13Bridge is not going to take Dom Toretto.
- 1:24:14I guess crumbling he will just like Nos it.
- 1:24:17Yeah, I mean, there's like that like fast 9 when the wood bridge
- 1:24:21goes out. What does he do?
- 1:24:23He drives faster. Yeah, well, he like takes the
- 1:24:26fucking rail and just like swings on it.
- 1:24:30Yeah, he does the George of the jungle with his.
- 1:24:32Car that's why he would have done with one of the cables on
- 1:24:34this bridge here. He would have just George of the
- 1:24:35jungled all the way across. There we go.
- 1:24:38OK. New tagline Cross the bridge
- 1:24:44between life and Death I. Kind of want to do something
- 1:24:52like go full circle since this is like a, it's the fifth one,
- 1:24:56but like we start at the beginning, we're just starting
- 1:24:59all over again. Death.
- 1:25:00Cyclical. Death is just the beginning.
- 1:25:07Oh, I get that. That's good.
- 1:25:09I like that. OK, I had to think on that one
- 1:25:11for a second, but I got you. I like it.
- 1:25:14Cool. All right, cool.
- 1:25:15Let's do that. OK, OK.
- 1:25:18I think that's it for all of are things.
- 1:25:21Yep, those are from March. No, we gotta do reviews dude.
- 1:25:25Sure we do. So we'll start off with our IMDb
- 1:25:30review, which I got was a three out of 10 titled Anticipation of
- 1:25:34Death is Worse Than Death Itself.
- 1:25:38Core franchises typically stumble when they get to part
- 1:25:41fives. Friday the 13th part 5 terrible
- 1:25:43saw five awful Halloween 5 appalling I have.
- 1:25:47I disagree with everyone of those.
- 1:25:51Strangely, many of them use 3D as a way of pulling in the
- 1:25:54punters for gore effects that splatter into 3 dimensions.
- 1:25:58Found Destination 5 is nothing new and no exception to this
- 1:26:00rule. Despite not being completely
- 1:26:02awful, Jacroni's own office retreat survived suspension
- 1:26:05bridge collapse after one of the group inexplicably has a
- 1:26:09premonition of said disaster. Death doesn't like to be
- 1:26:12cheated, Tony tied ironic accidents, blah blah exposition,
- 1:26:17you're all going to die, yadda yadda 1 by 1 blah blah blah
- 1:26:19blah. It's the same old rehash plot,
- 1:26:22recycled dialogue, and overdone deaths that seem to defy logic
- 1:26:25and physics. As usual there is a last minute
- 1:26:27twist which by this point you're just waiting to be revealed in
- 1:26:31get it finished with. That doesn't quite add up for
- 1:26:34many reasons, but coherence has hardly been a strong point of
- 1:26:37the series. Basically, as basically all of
- 1:26:41this film offers, are a few scenes of dread intention which
- 1:26:45are all undone by a cheap fake quick deflating CGI core
- 1:26:48effects. Now once in my life have I ever
- 1:26:50been horrified by computer generated blood?
- 1:26:53Give me some tangible gore by Chris Wallace or Tom Savini by
- 1:26:57day or any day over something half hearted cartoon.
- 1:27:01Onto the movie and post production.
- 1:27:03The series has been cheating death for 12 years and it's high
- 1:27:06time the final destination reached its final destination.
- 1:27:12They have some points. They do because you even said
- 1:27:14yourself like rehash dialogue. You said the same thing like 5
- 1:27:17Times Now five months in a row. I agree with the effects.
- 1:27:22We do get a little bit cartoonish with the CG effects
- 1:27:25in this right here. I don't agree with the over the
- 1:27:27top deaths because that's kind of part of this movie is that
- 1:27:29it's it's a Rube Goldberg machine basically.
- 1:27:32Yeah, and it's all about building up that dread in
- 1:27:35suspense. And then like you're supposed to
- 1:27:36have those moments where you're on edge looking for anything
- 1:27:39that's going to be the thing that's going to cause the death.
- 1:27:43I I mean, I don't know. I mean, it's just like, why go
- 1:27:47to any Halloween movie if you're not going there for like the
- 1:27:50stalking and slashing, you know, Why go to any Final Destination
- 1:27:53movie if you're not there for the over the top deaths and like
- 1:27:56suspenseful dread build UPS? You know that's what they both
- 1:27:59are. So.
- 1:28:01If they're still doing that in the 5th movie, like good because
- 1:28:03like that's what I want if I'm a fan of that franchise.
- 1:28:06Yeah. I'd be mad if they tried to
- 1:28:08switch it up with something else, you know?
- 1:28:09Yeah, and if we're going to keep talking about these other
- 1:28:11franchises, think about how mad people were about Halloween 3.
- 1:28:15Yeah, exactly. Yeah, I mean, people like it
- 1:28:17now, but like you. Know Yeah, well and now people
- 1:28:20are super mad about Halloween ends.
- 1:28:23Yeah, I still am. I'm not going to be not mad
- 1:28:26about that for a long, long time.
- 1:28:29I don't know if I'll ever get over that one.
- 1:28:31He hasn't yet. No.
- 1:28:34OK, so let's do some listener reviews.
- 1:28:37So over on Instagram you say says death is a petty bitch.
- 1:28:42Yes. Death is very petty in this.
- 1:28:44Movie. I literally have that in my
- 1:28:46notes right here. The first time Tony Todd
- 1:28:49appears, I wrote Death is a petty bitch.
- 1:28:52Marini says best of the franchise.
- 1:28:55That's cool. I've never seen people say that
- 1:28:56this is the best one, but I'm glad that this.
- 1:28:58Is it rains up there for me? Yeah, it's up at the top for me
- 1:29:01too. Michael E Howard says Final
- 1:29:03Destination 5 May be my favorite of the series.
- 1:29:06Controversial. I know.
- 1:29:07The bridge scene and the LASIK death are a part of my
- 1:29:10nightmares. The end twist is pure genius.
- 1:29:13I love that you didn't notice all of the hints to the twist
- 1:29:16unless you watch again. Have to give it a nine out of
- 1:29:1810. Love it.
- 1:29:19All right. Once again, right, Right in line
- 1:29:21with us. Yeah.
- 1:29:22Another number with skies. So that's it for reviews.
- 1:29:26All right. Thanks guys for being there and
- 1:29:28dropping your reviews. We appreciate your supports and
- 1:29:31like Jesse said before, that's it for March, so we'll be
- 1:29:35heading into April here. Be on the lookout on our social
