Transcript
- Lucas: Hey Luna, ready for another Dutch episode? Luna: I am so ready. What are we learning today? Lucas: Today we're going to the pharmacy again, but this time for something different: cream. Luna: Oh, like hand cream or face cream? Lucas: Exactly. So let's start with the basic phrase: Ik zoek een crème. Luna: Ik zoek een crème. That means 'I am looking for a cream'? Lucas: Perfect. Ik zoek een crème. Let's say it together slowly: Ik zoek een crème. Luna: Ik zoek een crème. Lucas: Now if you want to specify for the skin, you say: Voor de huid. Luna: Voor de huid. So 'for the skin'. Lucas: Yes. So you could say: Ik zoek een crème voor de huid. Luna: Ik zoek een crème voor de huid. That's a full sentence now. Lucas: Exactly. Or if it's for your hands: Voor mijn handen. Luna: Voor mijn handen. So 'for my hands'. Lucas: Right. So you could say: Ik zoek een crème voor mijn handen. Luna: Ik zoek een crème voor mijn handen. I like that. Lucas: Now, if you have dry skin, you can explain: Ik heb een droge huid. Luna: Ik heb een droge huid. That means 'I have dry skin'? Lucas: Yes. Ik heb een droge huid. Let's practice that. Luna: Ik heb een droge huid. Lucas: Good. And then you can ask: Hoeveel kost dit? Luna: Hoeveel kost dit? That's 'how much does this cost'? Lucas: Exactly. So let's put it all in a little scene. Imagine you walk into a pharmacy and say: Ik zoek een crème voor mijn handen. Luna: Ik zoek een crème voor mijn handen. Lucas: The pharmacist might ask: Voor de huid? Luna: And you say: Ja, ik heb een droge huid. Lucas: Then you ask: Hoeveel kost dit? Luna: Hoeveel kost dit? That's perfect. Lucas: Alright, let's review all five phrases. First: Ik zoek een crème. Luna: Ik zoek een crème. Lucas: Voor de huid. Luna: Voor de huid. Lucas: Voor mijn handen. Luna: Voor mijn handen. Lucas: Ik heb een droge huid. Luna: Ik heb een droge huid. Lucas: And Hoeveel kost dit? Luna: Hoeveel kost dit? Lucas: Great job, Luna. By the way, if you found today's episode useful, you know, these lessons stay ad-free thanks to listener support. Luna: Yeah, it's nice to have a clean show without interruptions. Lucas: If you'd like to help keep it that way, you can always buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. Luna: Totally. And we really appreciate it. Lucas: So now, let's do one more practice. I'll say a phrase in English, and you try to say it in Dutch. Luna: Okay, hit me. Lucas: I am looking for a cream for the skin. Luna: Ik zoek een crème voor de huid. Lucas: Yes. I have dry skin. Luna: Ik heb een droge huid. Lucas: Good. And how much does this cost? Luna: Hoeveel kost dit? Lucas: Excellent, Luna. You're really getting the hang of these pharmacy phrases. Luna: Thanks, Lucas. I feel more confident now. Lucas: That's the goal. Keep practicing these, and next time you're in a Dutch pharmacy, you'll be ready. Luna: Can't wait. See you next time! Lucas: Tot ziens, everyone!
