- 0:24Don Armstrong: Louisiana's right down the road.
- 0:25Don Armstrong: Ai.
- 0:26Don Armstrong: I want to find out how you met Stan and everything.
- 0:28Don Armstrong: Uh-oh.
- 0:32Don Armstrong: Sorry.
- 0:33Don Armstrong: Can you hear me?
- 0:33Don Armstrong: I can hear you loud and clear.
- 0:35SPEAKER_04: We talk about that every time.
- 0:36Don Armstrong: I know that.
- 0:37Don Armstrong: It's so good.
- 0:39Don Armstrong: But you have to understand it's not the same listeners every time, Sheila May.
- 0:43SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 0:47SPEAKER_03: Just make up stuff.
- 0:48Don Armstrong: Just make up stuff.
- 0:50Don Armstrong: You've learned it from the expert.
- 0:52Don Armstrong: Yeah, there's that.
- 0:54Don Armstrong: More guests from the Golden Triangle Confab here at Loopy's.
- 0:58Don Armstrong: Jeff has his motor minute, and uh I'll review the 2026 Ram 1500.
- 1:03Don Armstrong: Oh my gosh, what a nice pickup truck that is.
- 1:05Don Armstrong: Just ahead, here on the In Wheel Time Car Talk Show.
- 1:08Don Armstrong: Howdy, along with Mike Out of this World Mars, we always need more Jeff Zeken, chief engineer and bottle washer.

- 1:29Don Armstrong: Sheila May Holt.
- 1:30SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 1:31Don Armstrong: Used to be Sheila May Murray.
- 1:32Don Armstrong: Well, I guess it's still Sheila May Murray Holt.
- 1:35SPEAKER_04: That's it.
- 1:36Don Armstrong: Is that the way it is on the marriage certificate?
- 1:38Don Armstrong: No.
- 1:39SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
- 1:39SPEAKER_04: I hadn't looked at it before.
- 1:41Don Armstrong: You don't need no stinking marriage certificates.
- 1:45Don Armstrong: You don't need any of that stinking stuff.
- 1:46Don Armstrong: And not only that, there's no revving of engines.
- 1:48Don Armstrong: There's no revving of engines.
- 1:51SPEAKER_04: What?
- 1:51SPEAKER_04: You can rev your engine.
- 1:52Don Armstrong: Of course.
- 1:53Don Armstrong: Jeff had some stupid story about going stupid.
- 1:56Don Armstrong: Go somewhere, but you can't rev your engine.
- 1:58Jeff Dziekan: There's rules, and they were one of the rules.
- 2:01Don Armstrong: Well, they're not car people, clear.
- 2:04Don Armstrong: Because if you can't rev your engine, then you ain't a car person.
- 2:06SPEAKER_03: That's right.
- 2:07Don Armstrong: And it doesn't make any difference whether it's got some muffled up LLS engine underneath the hood or not.
- 2:12SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 2:13SPEAKER_04: Rules are made to be broken.
- 2:14SPEAKER_04: Always.
- 2:15Don Armstrong: And we've been breaking them all our lives.
- 2:21Don Armstrong: So uh you're from this area.
- 2:23SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 2:24Don Armstrong: Orange?
- 2:24SPEAKER_04: From Orange, Texas.
- 2:25Don Armstrong: That's where my Were you born and raised over there?
- 2:28SPEAKER_04: No, Talladega, Alabama.
- 2:30SPEAKER_04: I'm a Bama girl.
- 2:32SPEAKER_04: Yep.
- 2:33SPEAKER_04: Yep, Talladega, Alabama.
- 2:35SPEAKER_04: But I grew up most of my life in Orange, and that's where my mom, Martha, and my sister Samantha, who are here with us today.
- 2:43SPEAKER_04: Yeah, Martha Margarita, she's here.
- 2:45SPEAKER_04: She just celebrated her 87th birthday.
- 2:48SPEAKER_04: She's here.
- 2:49SPEAKER_04: She's been saying hi to all the guys.
- 2:52SPEAKER_04: If any single guys are out there and y'all have a hot rod, just come on up.
- 2:56SPEAKER_04: I'm gonna introduce you to my mama.
- 2:59SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 3:00Don Armstrong: What about you?
- 3:01Don Armstrong: Yeah, you sir.
- 3:02Don Armstrong: Are you married, sir?
- 3:04Don Armstrong: You are now.
- 3:05Don Armstrong: Okay, right.
- 3:06Don Armstrong: You you got you got any single friends?
- 3:08Don Armstrong: Some widowers?
- 3:10Don Armstrong: Soon to be a very good friend.
- 3:11Don Armstrong: I mean, why not?
- 3:12Don Armstrong: I mean, she she's looking for a man.
- 3:14SPEAKER_04: So uh yeah, Mama Martha's out here looking for a man.
- 3:18Don Armstrong: Yep.
- 3:18Don Armstrong: So you know this is this is a bonus cruise-in that we're having here today.
- 3:24Don Armstrong: Yeah, well, soon to be, that's right.
- 3:26SPEAKER_04: Um well anyway, from from Orange, and um, like I said, that's where my mom and my sister they still live.
- 3:34SPEAKER_04: A lot of friends um I came out today to to see me um that I haven't seen in a while.
- 3:40SPEAKER_04: Our our UPS guy that used to deliver to us.
- 3:43SPEAKER_04: He's here.
- 3:44SPEAKER_04: I like him.
- 3:45SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I hadn't seen him in forever, and uh got one of my girlfriends, she's coming out.
- 3:49SPEAKER_04: Then we have some uh drag racing friends that drove all the way from New Orleans.
- 3:54Don Armstrong: And I noticed that there is a nice what is what is this, a comp?
- 3:57Don Armstrong: What kind of car is this?
- 3:59Don Armstrong: It's a super comp dragster is here.
- 4:01SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yes, so Cody Reed, he lives in Beaumont.
- 4:04SPEAKER_04: I mean he lives in Bridge City, and he's the one who owns that car now.
- 4:08SPEAKER_04: That was Chase's, and he sold it to Coco.
- 4:10SPEAKER_04: We call him Coco, and uh Coco follows the circuit with us, and we all have a drag race starting Wednesday next week in Belrose, Louisiana.
- 4:21SPEAKER_04: So we'll all go to that.
- 4:22SPEAKER_04: But Cody does fly the Lupi Tortillas um stickers on the side of the car and part of our team.
- 4:29SPEAKER_04: So nice, yeah.
- 4:31Don Armstrong: Well, um, yes.
- 4:33Don Armstrong: As a matter of fact, uh your son was instrumental in you getting into drag racing.
- 4:40SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 4:41SPEAKER_04: Well, actually, in matter of fact, Walter, uh Chase is dead.
- 4:44SPEAKER_04: Is Walter here?
- 4:45SPEAKER_04: Walter's here.
- 4:46SPEAKER_04: He's he's over there by the uh dragster.
- 4:49SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 4:49SPEAKER_04: Uh Walter's here.
- 4:50SPEAKER_03: He's hiding.
- 4:51SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 4:52SPEAKER_04: He's he's hiding.
- 4:53SPEAKER_04: He's very shy.
- 4:54SPEAKER_03: Uh-huh.
- 4:54SPEAKER_04: But um, yeah, so when Chase was six years old, uh, Walter and I found a uh junior dragster um at an old swap meet.
- 5:05Don Armstrong: Did you know anything about drag racing before then?
- 5:07SPEAKER_04: No.
- 5:07Don Armstrong: Nothing.
- 5:08SPEAKER_04: Nothing.
- 5:08Don Armstrong: Okay.
- 5:09SPEAKER_04: Nothing.
- 5:10SPEAKER_04: And uh Walter loved drag ra never drove a drag dragster dragster or a race car, but always loved cars.
- 5:18SPEAKER_04: He and his dad um used to work on cars together.
- 5:21SPEAKER_04: His dad actually, Walter's dad, who's now deceased, um, he built a nineteen twenty-four model tee and it had a wooden frame.
- 5:30Don Armstrong: Wow.
- 5:31SPEAKER_04: A wooden frame.
- 5:32Don Armstrong: And raced it.
- 5:33SPEAKER_04: No, never raced it.
- 5:34SPEAKER_04: No, just had it for car shows.
- 5:36Don Armstrong: Gotcha.
- 5:37SPEAKER_04: Yeah, and they actually took that car, the 24 Model T to a car show in Orange at the Wiener Schnitchel.
- 5:44SPEAKER_04: You know Wiener Schnitchel?
- 5:47SPEAKER_04: So Chase's grandparents are the ones who started that car show in Wiener Schnitchell in Orange long time ago.
- 5:54SPEAKER_01: And we would go over there from Mid County on Saturday night.
- 5:59SPEAKER_01: That was that was the place to go over there instead of coming over there.
- 6:01SPEAKER_01: Oh my god, so you've you've known the family all these men that didn't know them, but I we we ran, we were really close running into the same thing.
- 6:10Jeff Dziekan: You go to Wienersnitzel.
- 6:12SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 6:13SPEAKER_04: So that we've always been around cars, and then when uh Walter and I found that junior dragster when Chase was six, we kind of like took him to the Sears parking lot in Orange and like let him drive it around, and then when he got turned eight, then we took him to uh Navasota, and that's where he ran his first junior drag race.
- 6:34Don Armstrong: And back did that did they have actual race engines for that category of uh the junior dragsters?
- 6:40SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 6:40Don Armstrong: They did, they had race engines.
- 6:42Don Armstrong: Were they Briggs and Stratton?
- 6:44Don Armstrong: Briggs and Stratton, yeah.
- 6:45SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 6:46Don Armstrong: Yeah.
- 6:46SPEAKER_03: Yeah, sure did.
- 6:47Don Armstrong: Have you ever seen have you ever seen them run, David?
- 6:49Don Armstrong: They're they're the uh actually today it's become a whole thing.
- 6:53SPEAKER_03: Oh yeah.
- 6:54SPEAKER_04: Oh yeah, and they even have electric junior dragsters.
- 6:57Don Armstrong: Yes, I've seen that.
- 6:57SPEAKER_04: I'm like, what?
- 6:58SPEAKER_04: Yeah, which are very competitive, and I think the uh last year's world champion, um oh wow, sorry, I got distracted by the hopping cars.
- 7:09SPEAKER_04: Hopping cars, hopping cars.
- 7:11Don Armstrong: So um so the whole you know, it's so funny because um the whole drag racing thing has been a thing all of my well since really high school because I hung out with the drag guys and we went down to Houston International Raceway on I-45 down in Dickinson.
- 7:30Don Armstrong: And that's where uh I got indoctrinated and uh it's never stopped.
- 7:38Don Armstrong: And uh matter of fact, that's I met Stan on the NHR8 tour in Las Vegas of all places.
- 7:46Don Armstrong: Yes, and uh and it's it's been a whirlwind since 2006.
- 7:52SPEAKER_04: It has.
- 7:53Don Armstrong: You know, I'm only about 35 years old, but I look like I'm 90.
- 7:58SPEAKER_04: Ditto.
- 7:59Don Armstrong: And it's all because of tragic.
- 8:01Don Armstrong: Wait a minute.
- 8:01SPEAKER_04: I think it's there's a common denominator.
- 8:04SPEAKER_04: It's Stan.
- 8:04SPEAKER_04: I think Stan is aging us.
- 8:06Don Armstrong: Yeah, you think?
- 8:07Don Armstrong: Yeah, uh huh.
- 8:08Don Armstrong: Yes, I believe it.
- 8:10Don Armstrong: Uh I worked for Stan and Sheila for well, Stan uh for a couple of years.
- 8:14Don Armstrong: This is before they married, and uh it that in itself was quite a whirlwind.
- 8:20SPEAKER_04: Yes, yes, yes, that was fun.
- 8:22Don Armstrong: Yes, I and matter of fact, I started working for them after I left uh David Powers Racing and the top fuel team.
- 8:30Don Armstrong: And uh so I just kind of continued on, and really I've continued on in a different vein now with doing the broadcasting thing.
- 8:38Don Armstrong: So it's um still cars, it's never ending.
- 8:41Don Armstrong: And you know, I really got back into the car thing back when I was working for an undisclosed uh NBC affiliate television station.
- 8:50Don Armstrong: And um and I don't even want to mention the name, it's just like ooh, I can't believe that company is just absolutely horrible.
- 8:56Don Armstrong: I watched a new let me just go off the off the track here.
- 8:59Don Armstrong: I watched a news cast last weekend.
- 9:02Don Armstrong: They read now, this is a major market, okay?
- 9:05Don Armstrong: They read a news story that was incomplete.
- 9:08Don Armstrong: You know, the basic things broadcasting, who, what, when, where, why?
- 9:12Don Armstrong: That we don't we don't gotta go all that way.
- 9:15Don Armstrong: Now, let's not do that.
- 9:16Don Armstrong: We're gonna tell that story.
- 9:17Don Armstrong: Yeah, yeah.
- 9:17Don Armstrong: We don't want to tell half the story.
- 9:19SPEAKER_03: Too much work.
- 9:19Don Armstrong: And then then you got an anchor on there with some sort of a uh looked like a mobster suit with a 1980s blue shirt with a white collar.
- 9:28Jeff Dziekan: I think I know what you're talking about.
- 9:29Jeff Dziekan: Yeah.
- 9:29Jeff Dziekan: He's on there quite a bit.
- 9:32unknown: What?
- 9:33Don Armstrong: He's a market in charge of this place over there.
- 9:36SPEAKER_04: Oh, look at the look who's riding with that guy.
- 9:39SPEAKER_04: Trump.
- 9:39SPEAKER_04: It's Trump.
- 9:42Don Armstrong: That's very clever.
- 9:43SPEAKER_04: That's great.
- 9:44Don Armstrong: Yeah, I think we need those on our cars, don't you?
- 9:46Don Armstrong: Yeah, I think so.
- 9:48Don Armstrong: Well, it's it's been a whirlwind, it continues to be.
- 9:51SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 9:52Don Armstrong: And um, there's this one common denominator for me.
- 9:55SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it's Stan.
- 9:56SPEAKER_04: Stan.
- 9:57SPEAKER_04: Yep.
- 9:57Don Armstrong: Yeah.
- 9:58SPEAKER_01: Um it it's yeah, it's been that.
- 10:02SPEAKER_04: So that's that's what I was gonna say.
- 10:03SPEAKER_01: So I never mentioned his name three times and he shouted.
- 10:07SPEAKER_04: There he is.
- 10:10SPEAKER_04: Yeah, my current husband.
- 10:12Don Armstrong: The current husband.
- 10:13Don Armstrong: Yeah, you'll have to switch the camera so we can see that.
- 10:17SPEAKER_01: He's not in the shot yet.
- 10:18SPEAKER_01: It's it's coming around.
- 10:19Don Armstrong: If he stands there long enough, then uh yeah, you just have to follow that follow that camera around.
- 10:25Don Armstrong: Uh-huh.
- 10:25Don Armstrong: But uh at any rate, uh you know, this is an entertaining car talk show.
- 10:29Don Armstrong: I don't know.
- 10:30Don Armstrong: And we talk about everything and anything, uh, including I mean we've actually gone off the track and talked about underwear on this show before.
- 10:38SPEAKER_04: No, no, let's not do that.
- 10:39SPEAKER_04: We can talk about grandbabies.
- 10:40SPEAKER_04: Mine's here today.
- 10:41SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 10:42SPEAKER_04: My grandson's here today.
- 10:43Don Armstrong: And I'm hoping that uh my daughter is going to bring my grandson to the Easter tailpipes and tacos in Katie.
- 10:49Don Armstrong: You bought it.
- 10:50SPEAKER_04: Speaking of the weeks, you did?
- 10:52SPEAKER_04: Yay! We bought him a car.
- 10:54Don Armstrong: I did, I bought him a car.
- 10:55Don Armstrong: Um he's he now has a little uh electric car that actually has a radio in it that plays all sorts of different tunes, forward, backward, and it's also got you can drive it yourself or dad can drive it with the remote control.
- 11:09SPEAKER_04: I'm excited about the kids' car show, and I'm hoping that the Beaumont car show does really well and we can include a kids' one at in the future.
- 11:19SPEAKER_04: Sure.
- 11:20SPEAKER_04: Um, because I was so excited about the Christmas car show we had for the kids in in Houston, and I'm really excited about the Easter one, and I've been trying to encourage all the parents, especially the grandpa, to get out there and decorate their grandkids.
- 11:35Don Armstrong: What are you talking about?
- 11:36SPEAKER_04: Decorate your grandchild's pedal car, a rope remote control car.
- 11:41SPEAKER_04: Speaking of, I have a a new bad habit.
- 11:44SPEAKER_04: It's um tracking little pedal cars.
- 11:48Don Armstrong: Yes.
- 11:49SPEAKER_04: Uh-huh.
- 11:49SPEAKER_04: So I was online, a live auction the other day, I think it's called Invaluable, like that.
- 11:55SPEAKER_04: And so I'm watching it and I was after this little Woody Wagon pedal car because I wanted Tie Ty to have a matching pedal car like puppy.
- 12:05SPEAKER_04: And so sure enough, I'm like, yes, yes, yes, and I got it.
- 12:10SPEAKER_04: I've got the pedal card, Woody Wagon, it's gorgeous.
- 12:14Don Armstrong: Have you got it at home now?
- 12:15SPEAKER_04: Yes, it got delivered the other day.
- 12:17SPEAKER_04: But as I'm sitting here, Stan goes, What are you doing?
- 12:19SPEAKER_04: I said, mm-mm-mm-mm-mm.
- 12:20SPEAKER_04: This is my this is my deal.
- 12:22SPEAKER_04: You are not allowed you're not allowed to get involved in rural cars.
- 12:26Jeff Dziekan: You're gonna drop an LS in it.
- 12:28SPEAKER_04: Because I said, I needed a the Woody Wagon, and then we are getting ready to have another grandchild in June.
- 12:37SPEAKER_04: So um, I was looking for another another pedal car for that baby.
- 12:41SPEAKER_04: Well, Stan started looking, and next thing I know, he starts bidding under my number, and we had uh five pedal cars delivered the other day.
- 12:51SPEAKER_04: I said Where are we gonna put them?
- 12:53SPEAKER_04: So the deal was Is he drinking wine again?
- 12:56SPEAKER_04: No, mimosas.
- 12:58SPEAKER_04: That was in the morning.
- 12:59SPEAKER_04: So the deal was he started collecting pedal cars and we put his grandkids' names on them.
- 13:04SPEAKER_04: So when uh Ty Tai was born, I was like, Well, he needs one.
- 13:08SPEAKER_04: So then we found out Chase and Mariah were pregnant again.
- 13:11SPEAKER_04: I'm like, well, this baby's gonna need more.
- 13:12Jeff Dziekan: You have more pedal cars than grandbabies?
- 13:14Jeff Dziekan: So you need more grandbabies.
- 13:15SPEAKER_04: I think Chase and Mariah need to have about, I don't know, five more kids.
- 13:18SPEAKER_01: There you go.
- 13:19SPEAKER_01: Okay, I don't think he's listening.
- 13:21SPEAKER_01: Well, good luck on them.
- 13:25SPEAKER_04: Five more kids, Chase and Mariah.
- 13:28SPEAKER_04: Poppy ordered five pedal cars.
- 13:31SPEAKER_01: Gotta have drivers.
- 13:32SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 13:33SPEAKER_04: We might have to adopt some grandchildren.
- 13:36Jeff Dziekan: You got a whole team, you got a whole race team going on there.
- 13:39Don Armstrong: Exactly.
- 13:39Don Armstrong: Can you see?
- 13:40Don Armstrong: Tai.
- 13:40SPEAKER_04: Tai Tai, come see Shiji.
- 13:42Don Armstrong: Oh Lord.
- 13:44Don Armstrong: Well, uh, it's always good to have you on the show.
- 13:47Don Armstrong: Uh, and it's always it's kind of an extension of Stan because the conversation goes here and then it goes over here, and then we go down.
- 13:55Don Armstrong: Yeah.
- 13:56SPEAKER_04: That's because of you.
- 13:58Don Armstrong: True.
- 13:59Don Armstrong: You got it.
- 13:59SPEAKER_04: Y'all here's the most precious grandbaby in the entire world.
- 14:03SPEAKER_04: This is Ty Ty Murray.
- 14:04SPEAKER_04: And I'm sorry he did not get to bring his little um remote control Corvette this time because his father was in no party zone.
- 14:13Don Armstrong: And uh and how old is he now?
- 14:15SPEAKER_04: He's one and a half.
- 14:16Don Armstrong: One and a half.
- 14:17SPEAKER_04: Say hi.
- 14:18Don Armstrong: Get a little closer.
- 14:19SPEAKER_04: Tell everybody hi.
- 14:20SPEAKER_01: Move over here a little bit.
- 14:20SPEAKER_01: Got a shirt and everything.
- 14:22SPEAKER_01: Right there.
- 14:22SPEAKER_01: You're good.
- 14:23SPEAKER_01: Right here?
- 14:23SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 14:24SPEAKER_04: Tai Tai, wave to the crowd.
- 14:26SPEAKER_04: We're handing out autographs soon.
- 14:29Don Armstrong: Well, Sheila, thank you very much.
- 14:30SPEAKER_04: This is the future of drag racing right here.
- 14:33Don Armstrong: There you go.
- 14:33Don Armstrong: When we're in our wheelchairs.
- 14:36SPEAKER_04: So just real quick, tell me when we're doing the countdown.
- 14:38SPEAKER_04: But he already has his mom's junior dragster.
- 14:44SPEAKER_04: His uh Mariah's dad bought the junior dragster back.
- 14:48SPEAKER_04: So he's already ready and his mom's junior dragster.
- 14:50SPEAKER_04: And then Walter, Chase's dad, bought his junior dragster back.
- 14:55SPEAKER_04: So Ty and baby number two are gonna have their junior dragster, their parents' junior dragster.
- 15:01SPEAKER_01: Heritage racing.
- 15:02SPEAKER_01: Yeah, there you go.
- 15:03SPEAKER_04: Yeah, isn't that great?
- 15:04SPEAKER_01: It's great.
- 15:05Don Armstrong: I can't keep it all straight, but it's great.
- 15:08Jeff Dziekan: He's saying I need another nap.
- 15:12Don Armstrong: Sheila, thank you.
- 15:13Don Armstrong: Thank you all.
- 15:13Don Armstrong: Thank you.
- 15:14Don Armstrong: And by the way, I know that somebody here is in charge of judging the cars for our three chili pepper trophies.
- 15:20Don Armstrong: Yes.
- 15:21Don Armstrong: So uh we'll need that person here with the names of the people that are going to.
- 15:26Don Armstrong: That's going to happen at 1030.
- 15:29Don Armstrong: 1030.
- 15:30Don Armstrong: 10:30.
- 15:31SPEAKER_04: Okay, I'll make sure.
- 15:32Don Armstrong: Will you, will you?
- 15:33Don Armstrong: Because I know that if I tell anybody else, it won't happen.
- 15:37SPEAKER_04: So you're saying uh I can get the job done?
- 15:39Don Armstrong: Yes, I know that.
- 15:40Don Armstrong: I know that.
- 15:42Don Armstrong: Put the baby down, step away from the baby.
- 15:44Don Armstrong: All right.
- 15:45Don Armstrong: Just ahead, Jeff's motor minute and a review of the new Ram 1500 Longhorn Limo.
- 15:50Don Armstrong: Woo-hoo.

- 17:49Don Armstrong: Time now for Jeff's Motor Minute, Jeffrey.
- 17:52Jeff Dziekan: Yeah, here we go.
- 17:52Jeff Dziekan: Do you know that your uh tire sensing units, the TPMS units, are sending out signals and they can be tracked on that?
- 17:59Jeff Dziekan: This is a story from Leroy uh Marion uh about a week ago.
- 18:03Jeff Dziekan: A new cybersecurity study has uncovered a deeply unsettling reality.
- 18:07Jeff Dziekan: One of your car's most basic safety features may already be broadcasting your movements to anyone willing to listen.
- 18:14Jeff Dziekan: Tire pressure monitoring systems or the TPMS systems, now standard equipment in modern vehicles worldwide, were designed to purely prevent accidents caused by underinflated tires.
- 18:24Jeff Dziekan: Over a ten-week field study, researchers deployed low-cost radio receivers near roads and parking areas capturing more than six million TPMS transmissions over 20,000 vehicles.
- 18:37Jeff Dziekan: Each tire sensor continuously emits wireless signals containing a fixed unique identification number, and critically these signals are transmitted unencrypted.
- 18:48Jeff Dziekan: So what what is happening is that they're uh they're sending out signals to your car, but it's also being interrupted or are uh being picked up by other things in the area, and people can monitor where you're going, when you stop, where you're at.
- 19:01Jeff Dziekan: So that could be uh that could be kind of kind of detrimental.
- 19:04Jeff Dziekan: You could be in in trouble for something like that.
- 19:06Jeff Dziekan: So uh be careful.
- 19:08Jeff Dziekan: Uh I don't know how it's a fix or anything or what they're gonna do about it, but that's it's out there right now.
- 19:13Don Armstrong: I'm in trouble all the time.
- 19:14Don Armstrong: It doesn't make any difference if it was TMS.
- 19:16Don Armstrong: You know, I had to replace the TPMS tailpipe monitoring system.
- 19:21Don Armstrong: Tire pressure monitoring system.
- 19:23Don Armstrong: I had to replace those in the Corvette.
- 19:25Don Armstrong: Yeah, I remember that.
- 19:26Don Armstrong: Uh and what a pain.
- 19:27Don Armstrong: That was it.
- 19:28Jeff Dziekan: You had new tires.
- 19:29Don Armstrong: Didn't you get new tires and I got new tires, but I didn't replace them at the same time that I got.
- 19:32Don Armstrong: And that was a couple years ago, and then ding, one goes out.
- 19:35Don Armstrong: And I thought, okay, replace that one.
- 19:38Don Armstrong: Well, if one went out and the car is at the time twenty-three years old, it's probably time to get them all replaced.
- 19:45SPEAKER_01: Yeah, because they they were installed at the same time with batteries, so with the life on them.
- 19:50Don Armstrong: So I I got them uh, you know, new ones installed, and they work great.
- 19:54Don Armstrong: And getting them hooked up, synced up to the car was as easy as pie.
- 19:59Jeff Dziekan: Yeah.
- 19:59Jeff Dziekan: They do that when I had my tire replaced at uh discount, they have a little uh box of some sort and it goes and beeps and they set it to the car and all that.
- 20:07Don Armstrong: Mine, you have to reset it with a magnet.
- 20:10Don Armstrong: Oh, that's right.
- 20:11Don Armstrong: You got the the the the earth magnet when you did that.
- 20:13Don Armstrong: Yes, I had to spend I spent more on the damned earth magnet than I did on anything else.
- 20:18Don Armstrong: And you hold it up to the the nozzle on the on the tire.
- 20:22Don Armstrong: It's Dowstem, yeah.
- 20:23Don Armstrong: Right.
- 20:23Don Armstrong: And then you go in and you drill down the menu and it goes, oh, you're over there on uh the left front.
- 20:29Don Armstrong: Yes.
- 20:30Don Armstrong: Hit the button, ding! Yeah, there you go.
- 20:32Don Armstrong: So it's one of those kind of things.
- 20:33Don Armstrong: All right, time now for this hour's car review.
- 20:36Don Armstrong: I had a chance to drive the 2026 Ram 1500.
- 20:40Don Armstrong: Available trim levels include the Tradesman, Express, Bighorn, Lone Star, Warlock, Laramie, Rebel, Limited, Longhorn, RHO, and Tungsten.
- 20:56Don Armstrong: All of that.
- 20:57Don Armstrong: I had the Longhorn Crew 4x4.
- 21:00Don Armstrong: This is a standard or full-size body-on-frame pickup truck.
- 21:04Don Armstrong: Seats five people.
- 21:06Don Armstrong: Uh, complete redesign happened in 2019.
- 21:09Don Armstrong: You're thinking, well, this is 2026, isn't it?
- 21:11Don Armstrong: Time?
- 21:12Don Armstrong: Listen, they wouldn't be able to compete if they didn't update that thing every couple of years.
- 21:16Don Armstrong: So the complete redesign happened in 2019.
- 21:20Don Armstrong: The updates happened all the time.
- 21:23Don Armstrong: Exterior features, best looking exterior on the market, grill styles varying depending on trend.
- 21:31Don Armstrong: Distinctive rear lighting with dual exhaust trip tips back there, multi-function, optional tailgate is a head up competitor to Ford's.
- 21:43Don Armstrong: Engine size badging is on the hood, and it is big.
- 21:47Don Armstrong: You'll know just by looking at the hood what's under the hood.
- 21:51Don Armstrong: What I like, sheet metal appeals to me.
- 21:55Don Armstrong: What could use improvement?
- 21:56Don Armstrong: The side mirrors.
- 21:57Don Armstrong: Side view mirrors are so big.
- 22:00Don Armstrong: It obscures the view around them.
- 22:03Don Armstrong: There's got to be a you know what Ford did was they did some lowering of the actual side window glass and moved the mirrors down.
- 22:13Don Armstrong: And uh I think that's what Ram needs to look at.
- 22:16Don Armstrong: Anyway, interior highlights, it's got a three-screen dashboard.
- 22:20Don Armstrong: It's awesome.
- 22:21Don Armstrong: Uh instrument cluster, infotainment, and the shotgun person sitting over there in the passenger seat, they've got their own screen right there in the dashboard.
- 22:31Don Armstrong: It's very cool.
- 22:33Don Armstrong: You can't see it as a driver.
- 22:34Don Armstrong: They've got it somehow shaded that you can't see what's going on over there.
- 22:38Don Armstrong: So you can pull up, I guess, porn if you want to watch that over there.
- 22:42Don Armstrong: Um by the way, that one has its own controls.
- 22:46Don Armstrong: Um infotainment, excellent, easy to use.
- 22:51Don Armstrong: Uh sliding shelf inside the center console uh is uh really handy.
- 22:59Don Armstrong: And you slide that shelf back, you know, you've got your remote control, your phone, whatever is you want in there.
- 23:05Don Armstrong: You slide that back, and then you've got a race car that's just fired up back behind us here.
- 23:12Don Armstrong: That's the Super Comp dragster.
- 23:14Don Armstrong: Uh comfortable seating, uh all the adjustments on the thing.
- 23:21Don Armstrong: Uh it's a truck with multi-function bed, tie-downs, lighting, everything back there, and this particular model, what I liked.
- 23:29Don Armstrong: Uh Ram thought of everything on this.
- 23:31Don Armstrong: I don't think are they gonna make a loop through the parking lot?
- 23:34Don Armstrong: Maybe that's what they should do.
- 23:35Don Armstrong: What could use improvement?
- 23:37Don Armstrong: Upper trims are expensive.
- 23:39Don Armstrong: But I mean, you know, if you're gonna do that, then buy a trim level as opposed to one offing it.
- 23:49Don Armstrong: Engine, it's the return of the 5.7-liter Chemi V8 with a mild hybrid now.
- 23:56Don Armstrong: Turns out 395 horsepower, 410 pound feet of torque, through an eight-speed automatic transmission that's smooth as glass.
- 24:05Don Armstrong: Tower rating, 9,240 pounds.
- 24:08Don Armstrong: It'll haul 1,330 pounds.
- 24:10Don Armstrong: Get 16 miles per gallon in the city, 20 on the highway for a combined of 18.
- 24:15Don Armstrong: It was a time not that long ago that it only got 13 miles per gallon.
- 24:19SPEAKER_03: That's right.
- 24:20Don Armstrong: So this new setup really works.
- 24:21Don Armstrong: I got 16.2 miles per gallon over 379 miles.
- 24:25Don Armstrong: What I liked about it, that smooth V8 power with the mild hybrid.
- 24:31Don Armstrong: You cannot beat it.
- 24:33Don Armstrong: I'm telling you, those V8 engines rock.
- 24:36Don Armstrong: And I I drive all of the four cylinders, it doesn't make any difference what it is, turbocharged, I don't care.
- 24:42Don Armstrong: That V8, it rocks in that pickup truck.
- 24:45SPEAKER_01: It's just that low-end torque from that V8.
- 24:48Don Armstrong: It's also got available an optional Hurricane 6 high output engine, straight six in it, 540 horsepower on that straight six.
- 25:02Don Armstrong: I love the coil suspension, it acts like a Luxo limo.
- 25:06Don Armstrong: Wow, like it used improvement in the ride and handling nothing.
- 25:10Don Armstrong: This thing is just absolutely awesome.
- 25:12Don Armstrong: Base trim price, base trim price on this.
- 25:16Don Armstrong: Remember what that I what I was driving, and that was the Longhorn Crew Cab 4x4.
- 25:26Don Armstrong: Base trim price$75,405.
- 25:30Don Armstrong: Price is tested with some options,$86,205.
- 25:34Don Armstrong: Oh man.
- 25:36Don Armstrong: The base model price of this is$44,775.
- 25:43Don Armstrong: But here are the the other, they're all right there with it.
- 25:46Don Armstrong: Ford F-150,$43,935.
- 25:51Don Armstrong: That's the starting price.
- 25:53Don Armstrong: Starting price for the Chevy Silverado,$42,600.
- 25:57Don Armstrong: And the Toyota Tundra starts at$41,260.
- 26:02Don Armstrong: For a pickup truck.
- 26:05Don Armstrong: Yep, yep.
- 26:05Don Armstrong: You kidding me?
- 26:07Don Armstrong: It's a pickup truck.
- 26:08Don Armstrong: I go back to the days of what a pickup truck was just that.
- 26:12Don Armstrong: Bare bones pickup truck.
- 26:14Don Armstrong: You bought it to work with.
- 26:15Don Armstrong: Rubber, rubber floor mats.
- 26:17Don Armstrong: All that.
- 26:18Don Armstrong: Yeah.
- 26:21Don Armstrong: We're just we're just gonna open the microphones and listen to this for a while.
- 26:26Don Armstrong: So it's a race car that's right behind us there.
- 26:31Don Armstrong: That RAM doesn't sound that loud, but it sounds that good, though.
- 26:34Don Armstrong: They have quite that noise.
- 26:35Don Armstrong: It's got more creature comforts in it.
- 26:37Don Armstrong: Next week I'm gonna review the Chevy Equinox EV.
- 26:41Don Armstrong: And I know you'll want to tune in for that.
- 26:43Don Armstrong: Okay.
- 26:44Don Armstrong: You know how I am about EVs.
- 26:45SPEAKER_01: Not a hybrid, but a full EV.
- 26:47SPEAKER_01: A full EV.
- 26:48SPEAKER_01: Yeehaw.
- 26:48Don Armstrong: Well, if you're going to buy a if you're gonna buy it, this is a nice one.
- 26:54Don Armstrong: Go for it.
- 26:55Don Armstrong: I was I was quite taken aback by the whole thing, but you still gotta plug it in all the time.
