- 0:00SPEAKER_01: This is what kills me about bird nerds.
- 0:01SPEAKER_01: What?
- 0:02SPEAKER_01: Uh Kelly, I'm calling you right out.
- 0:03SPEAKER_01: 9743.
- 0:04SPEAKER_01: So I started the show.
- 0:05SPEAKER_01: I said, I think I need Zach to swing by for just a minute.
- 0:08SPEAKER_01: Uh we have to go to the front of the house and find out.
- 0:10SPEAKER_01: Because I have this little teeny little bird.
- 0:12SPEAKER_01: I thought it was like a little finch or something.
- 0:13SPEAKER_01: It probably is a finch of some kind.
- 0:15SPEAKER_01: And uh or it could be a tit.
- 0:17SPEAKER_00: Uh I'm hoping it for your sake that it's a tit.
- 0:19SPEAKER_00: A black boobed tit.
- 0:20SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 0:22SPEAKER_00: Does it look black?
- 0:23SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 0:24SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 0:24SPEAKER_01: So at any rate, uh, I think it's living in- Could you actually see it?
- 0:27SPEAKER_00: Because I can never see it.
- 0:28SPEAKER_01: Yeah, no, well, here's what happened.
- 0:29SPEAKER_01: So I think he's living in this little basket of I thought they were fake flowers or eucalyptus or whatever.
- 0:34SPEAKER_01: It's a bit decorative basket on the front of the front door.
- 0:36SPEAKER_01: So when I go to open the door to go get the mail.
- 0:39SPEAKER_01: The bird's like, ooh, this is nice.
- 0:40SPEAKER_01: Yeah, well, no, he uh he he he takes this little beep and he f he lands right on this gutter area where you know the downspout, if you will.
- 0:47SPEAKER_01: He's like, Pardon me, excuse me.
- 0:49SPEAKER_01: I was a little bit different.
- 0:50SPEAKER_01: He actually flies a little bit closer.
- 0:51SPEAKER_01: I'm like, should I put my finger on?
- 0:52SPEAKER_01: Are you just gonna come sit on my finger?
- 0:54SPEAKER_01: And well, here's the problem with the bird nerds, 9743.
- 0:57SPEAKER_01: It was good, everyone.
- 0:58SPEAKER_01: Scott, sounds like you have a junko bird.
- 1:01SPEAKER_01: Okay, well, you're not helping me here.
- 1:02SPEAKER_01: What's a junko bird?
- 1:03SPEAKER_01: Or were you waiting me for for me to Google this?
- 1:06SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:06SPEAKER_01: I guess I could do that.
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: Junko birds are very small.
- 1:09SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:09SPEAKER_01: Possibly.
- 1:10SPEAKER_01: Did you see our our kind of looks like that, but then when you get to birds that size, they all look that way.
- 1:15unknown: I know.
- 1:15unknown: I can't tell the text.
- 1:16SPEAKER_01: Happy little dude, though.
- 1:18SPEAKER_01: Oh, it's a dark-eyed junko.
- 1:20SPEAKER_00: Ah, did you see that our co-worker has a deer that comes straight into our yard and her the deer was like eating out of her son's hand, will like kind of like play with her son.
- 1:32SPEAKER_01: Welcome to Tick City.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: She b oh yeah, I didn't even think about that.
- 1:36SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:37SPEAKER_00: Oh, that's a Megan.
- 1:39SPEAKER_00: This is a terrible idea.
- 1:41SPEAKER_01: You're absolutely gonna want to have the uh antibiotics on hand.
- 1:44SPEAKER_00: I saw the TikTok yesterday and I was like, oh my god, look at this deer.
- 1:48SPEAKER_00: It's like nudging it, Liam, and just being so sweet.
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:52SPEAKER_01: Baby though?
- 1:53SPEAKER_01: Baby deer?
- 1:54SPEAKER_00: It looks smaller.
- 1:55SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:56SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 1:56SPEAKER_00: I didn't ask if it's no spots, though.
- 1:58SPEAKER_00: I said, can I see your license, please?
- 2:00SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: Can I scan it before you buy it old enough to drive?
- 2:02SPEAKER_00: Before you buy these deer cigarettes.
- 2:04SPEAKER_00: Oh my god.
- 2:05SPEAKER_00: Deer cigarettes.
- 2:07SPEAKER_00: Now, if if anybody's going on a first date this weekend, is this a yes or a no for you?
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: Going on a walk on a first date.
- 2:15SPEAKER_00: I was listening to this podcast and it's called Jillian on Love.
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: She always is giving out like relationship love advice.
- 2:21SPEAKER_00: I just love it.
- 2:21SPEAKER_00: I eat it up.
- 2:22SPEAKER_01: I must have missed that.
- 2:23SPEAKER_00: I know you did.
- 2:24SPEAKER_00: I know you're really trying to improve on your relationship daily.
- 2:27SPEAKER_01: It just sounds like the worst podcast I've ever heard of.
- 2:29SPEAKER_00: It's awesome.
- 2:30SPEAKER_00: I love it.
- 2:31SPEAKER_00: And she but she said she's completely against walks on first dates.
- 2:35SPEAKER_00: Like, this is the season to do it.
- 2:37SPEAKER_00: Why wouldn't you go to a park and do a walk or park or market street or whatever?
- 2:41SPEAKER_01: Something.
- 2:41SPEAKER_00: No, she says that it because you're you're almost distracted and you're not looking at each other, you're walking next to each other, that you should actually be making a connection by looking at each other, which is why if you go to dinner, you sit in front of the person, you're talking and you're making that connection.
- 2:57SPEAKER_00: But honestly, I feel like I think she's wrong on this one.
- 3:00SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 3:01SPEAKER_00: I that's what I was thinking too.
- 3:02SPEAKER_00: Because when Zach and I get home from work, a lot of times we'll go walk junior, and that's when we'll talk about our day.
- 3:08SPEAKER_00: We're connecting.
- 3:09SPEAKER_00: I mean, granted, we connected prior to these regular walks, but I just think it's a great way to connect.
- 3:15SPEAKER_01: Here, I'm gonna go a little weirdly deeper on this.
- 3:18SPEAKER_01: I think uh I think she missed the boat on this because there are some baby hurdles to get over in the very beginning of what I don't even want to call it a relationship, of a getting to know you period.
- 3:28SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 3:29SPEAKER_01: The first little hurdle to get over.
- 3:30SPEAKER_01: Well, not the first, but one of the hurdles to get over, you'll you'll know.
- 3:33SPEAKER_01: Eating in front of someone.
- 3:34SPEAKER_00: Oh, god, yeah.
- 3:35SPEAKER_01: Never there's always a touch of anxiety because when I first got with Zach, it was like now I'm like, wah, wah, wah, wah.
- 3:42SPEAKER_00: Give me two of those.
- 3:43SPEAKER_00: I've got smears of mustard down my cheek.
- 3:46SPEAKER_00: How did I get in my hair?
- 3:47SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 3:47SPEAKER_01: Who knows?
- 3:48SPEAKER_01: But you know what I'm saying?
- 3:49SPEAKER_01: Like, there's that whole, like, especially if it's a dinner date at that point, you know, it's like there's the anxiety that goes with that.
- 3:55SPEAKER_01: So there's these baby hurdles.
- 3:57SPEAKER_01: What I kind of like about the idea of a walk on a first date is um you're gonna find out how you pace with each other.
- 4:04SPEAKER_01: Are you slow?
- 4:05SPEAKER_01: Are am I too fast?
- 4:07SPEAKER_01: Am I too slow?
- 4:08SPEAKER_01: Are you a stopper all the time?
- 4:10SPEAKER_01: And now I'm like, wait, I've been talking for where'd you go?
- 4:13SPEAKER_01: You know, there's a lot of I I honestly okay, maybe in New York City where there's an alley that somebody can push you down and do horrible things to.
- 4:20SPEAKER_01: I can understand that reason of not wanting to go on a walk.
- 4:24SPEAKER_00: That just went extreme.
- 4:25SPEAKER_01: Well, I know, but I'm saying I could see if she had said, well, you want to be careful, you want to be cautious, you don't know the person.
- 4:30SPEAKER_01: But I understand the connecting, but I also think you can connect walking around.
- 4:34SPEAKER_01: You really want to here's how you really find out if you're compatible.
- 4:38SPEAKER_01: How?
- 4:38SPEAKER_01: Go to a vendor fair with the person.
- 4:41SPEAKER_01: Now hear me out.
- 4:42SPEAKER_01: Hear me out.
- 4:43SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 4:43SPEAKER_01: So get on these vendor fairs.
- 4:45SPEAKER_01: No, no.
- 4:46SPEAKER_01: So Tiffany and I, this is a dead serious one.
- 4:48SPEAKER_01: Tiffany and I uh go to one in Hammondsport every year and it's laid out.
- 4:53SPEAKER_01: If you were to look at it with a drone, leave it to the guy in the room to be like, I'm gonna make a vendor fair sound cool, I'm gonna bring in drones.
- 4:59SPEAKER_01: If you were gonna look at it from a drone down, it's it's laid out like a star in their little center park.
- 5:04SPEAKER_01: It's like, here's the center and spokes on the wheel out.
- 5:06SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 5:07SPEAKER_00: And it's I know exactly what you're talking about.
- 5:09SPEAKER_01: Whatever reason, the best laid-out vendor park, uh vendor fair.
- 5:13SPEAKER_01: When you go to one where it's like in that, you know, sort of square or rectangle setup and it's like an outside ring.
- 5:19SPEAKER_01: You don't like that?
- 5:20SPEAKER_01: I get weirdly lost.
- 5:22SPEAKER_01: Like I'm like, ah, but here's here's what you do.
- 5:25SPEAKER_00: You're gonna find out real quick.
- 5:27SPEAKER_00: How is the simple thing such a struggle?
- 5:29SPEAKER_00: I don't get lost in the square.
- 5:32SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you're never gonna be my my my co-pilot on a trip.
- 5:36SPEAKER_01: But hear me out on this is if you are a person that's sort of like, oh, that one doesn't interest me, and you keep moving by, but the other person's like, nope, gotta stop at every single one.
- 5:46SPEAKER_01: It's one of those weird ways you know, can I do this with you?
- 5:49SPEAKER_01: I think the walk is actually the smarter thing to do.
- 5:51SPEAKER_00: I think that's the one that that's for you because your significant other is very interested in vendor fares.
- 5:56SPEAKER_00: You can't apply your scenario to everyone's scenario.
- 6:00SPEAKER_00: No, but it there is a lot of them.
- 6:02SPEAKER_00: I will be at one tomorrow.
- 6:03SPEAKER_00: There you go.
- 6:05SPEAKER_01: And there'll be eight more around the the community too.
- 6:08SPEAKER_01: So really come get your bring your first dates.
- 6:11SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I'm telling you.
- 6:12SPEAKER_00: See how it goes.
- 6:13SPEAKER_01: See the pacing, see what they're like, you know, see see what they buy.
- 6:17SPEAKER_01: See what they buy, see what they want to sample.
- 6:19SPEAKER_00: If they buy lots of popcorn, keep them.
- 6:21SPEAKER_01: Yes, if they buy us the pickle stand, if we spend an inordinate amount of time there and really get to get to know the person, yup, keep them, yes.
- 6:31SPEAKER_00: The t the decorative towels.
- 6:32SPEAKER_00: Bye bye.
