- 0:00Speaker 1: Well, good evening, listeners. Thank you so much for coming
- 0:03Speaker 1: on and taking time to listen to Lamenta Vogue podcast,
- 0:07Speaker 1: another episode for you. And today, it's a special one
- 0:12Speaker 1: for me because my mom, she was a mom in
- 0:17Speaker 1: her late 30s, early 40s because she struggled with infertility.
- 0:21Speaker 1: So it took her 12 years to have me. And
- 0:24Speaker 1: then shortly after me, she had my sister. And her
- 0:27Speaker 1: story was just really special and always stuck with me.
- 0:30Speaker 1: But then when I got older, I started realizing how
- 0:33Speaker 1: many women, at least around me, seemed to have pregnancies
- 0:37Speaker 1: really quickly. I didn't hear many women say, oh, it's
- 0:39Speaker 1: been 12 years. Or I didn't even hear a lot
- 0:43Speaker 1: of people share miscarriage stories. Or it was kind of
- 0:46Speaker 1: something you'd find out years, years later if somebody wanted
- 0:50Speaker 1: to share with you this struggle that they had had.
- 0:52Speaker 1: But it's after they had had children or They had
- 0:55Speaker 1: come to this place in their life when that was
- 0:57Speaker 1: just no longer something they were pursuing. And I just,
- 1:01Speaker 1: I came across Maddie Ferguson's page, who is on the
- 1:05Speaker 1: podcast today. And she has been struggling with infertility, her
- 1:09Speaker 1: and her husband, for about nine years. And she's just
- 1:14Speaker 1: really honest about her struggle on her Instagram channel, which
- 1:18Speaker 1: I'll link below. And then on top of it, I
- 1:21Speaker 1: found out that she and her husband have created this
- 1:23Speaker 1: app that they will be launching publicly in June, June 15th,
- 1:28Speaker 1: for individuals who are also struggling with infertility or conceiving.
- 1:33Speaker 1: And they can kind of join this app and see
- 1:36Speaker 1: if you can find a community that just feels similar
- 1:39Speaker 1: and experiences the same things that you're going through and
- 1:42Speaker 1: have even like FYI information for you. And it's just
- 1:45Speaker 1: like a new place where people can connect and be
- 1:49Speaker 1: open with one another. And it's like its own social channel,
- 1:52Speaker 1: which is just really cool. So Maddie, thank you so
- 1:56Speaker 1: much for joining the podcast.
- 1:58Speaker 2: Yes, absolutely. Thank you so much for having me.
- 2:01Speaker 1: So I have to say to start out, what was it,
- 2:06Speaker 1: you know, how did you feel about putting your story
- 2:11Speaker 1: and documenting your infertility journey with so many people? You know,
- 2:16Speaker 1: because your friends and family, it's interesting when I started
- 2:19Speaker 1: a channel I only, I wasn't afraid of what strangers
- 2:23Speaker 1: would think. I was only afraid mostly of what my
- 2:27Speaker 1: immediate circle would.
- 2:28Speaker 2: Think about it.
- 2:29Speaker 1: And so I wondered for you, when you went out
- 2:32Speaker 1: there and started sharing, was it, how was that hard
- 2:35Speaker 1: for you? Did you feel comfortable? Were you like gung-ho
- 2:38Speaker 1: about this? How did it get started?
- 2:41Speaker 2: That's a great question. Honestly, the vulnerability, and.
- 2:46Speaker 3: It was really hard to get over to even see
- 2:50Speaker 3: myself watching the videos back before I posted them.
- 2:53Speaker 2: I was like, do I really want to post this?
- 2:55Speaker 3: Do I really want my family and friends to see
- 2:58Speaker 3: this side of me?
- 2:59Speaker 2: Because I'm an open book.
- 3:01Speaker 3: I'll talk to anyone about my story and my journey,
- 3:03Speaker 3: especially if it can help someone. But it's a little
- 3:08Speaker 3: bit different when there's people in my family and my
- 3:11Speaker 3: friends that they don't truly understand.
- 3:13Speaker 2: And so when I'm talking so vulnerably about the deep
- 3:16Speaker 2: and
- 3:17Speaker 3: Dark secrets or whatever, the stigmas around infertility, then I
- 3:22Speaker 3: was like, well,
