- 11:22Speaker 7: What is it about this team that like if you
- 11:25Speaker 7: were to put a headline behind this team and what
- 11:27Speaker 7: you learned about them, what makes them uniquely them?
- 11:30Speaker 5: Yeah, I think maybe playing for a bigger calls a
- 11:32Speaker 5: bigger purpose than just themselves.
- 11:35Speaker 9: It was a team I think that truly wanted to
- 11:37Speaker 9: win for Texas, A and M, which you don't always see.
- 11:39Speaker 9: Techags Live brought to you by David Gardner's Jewelers hang
- 11:42Speaker 9: out weekdays from eight to eleven on the zone.
- 11:46Speaker 10: He was born.
- 11:49Speaker 11: You know Homer, these l names film is.
- 12:00Speaker 1: He's not responsible? Ray Wailly Hubbard wrote that song. We
- 12:06Speaker 1: already know that. Let's see I have stuff coming.
- 12:20Speaker 2: We'll hear from some Maggies tomorrow Thursday before they head
- 12:27Speaker 2: to Birmingham and Hoover, Alabama.
- 12:35Speaker 12: That's not the one I want.
- 12:39Speaker 2: I'm looking for. Let me let me go back to
- 12:44Speaker 2: this because I just signed up for a couple of interviews.
- 12:54Speaker 2: I'll figure that out later. Let's move on and we'll
- 12:57Speaker 2: get to that. The earlier we get to stuff, the
- 13:03Speaker 2: more we'll have time for.
- 13:07Speaker 1: Clint Black.
- 13:08Speaker 2: Not that the other stuff we have isn't important. By
- 13:11Speaker 2: the way, Scott Clin Dinnan will join me tomorrow. We
- 13:14Speaker 2: will have some topics tomorrow and on Thursday we have
- 13:20Speaker 2: got the Clark Eisenhower Outdoor Edition.
- 13:25Speaker 13: I'm going to be.
- 13:25Speaker 2: Talking to an author who has co authored a book
- 13:28Speaker 2: called Fishable Feasts. It's a coffee table book about fly
- 13:32Speaker 2: fishing all over the world. It includes recipes on how
- 13:37Speaker 2: to serve the fish you catch and some terrific photos,
- 13:43Speaker 2: like I said, of incredible areas. And one of the
- 13:48Speaker 2: great things about fly fishing is it takes you to
- 13:52Speaker 2: just some awesome, awesome places. So we'll do that on Thursday,
- 13:58Speaker 2: and on Friday. We think young Ryan Starr will be here.
- 14:04Speaker 2: We think, if not, Caleb will be here, Riley will
- 14:08Speaker 2: be here. The studio will be full, and I'll have
- 14:12Speaker 2: my weekly interview with Kirk Bowles on Friday as well.
- 14:17Speaker 1: All right, courtesy of our friends at.
- 14:21Speaker 2: Tech SAgs, Bucky and Mike Elko, we're speaking to the
- 14:27Speaker 2: Dallas A and M Club, and let's hear from Bucky
- 14:32Speaker 2: as he visits with media.
- 14:34Speaker 8: Bucky your second signer. You are a signer. Were you
- 14:37Speaker 8: just for their nuts? I mean last year we got here,
- 14:42Speaker 8: I think you didn't.
- 14:44Speaker 14: Have a team, we didn't have any coaches, we didn't
- 14:46Speaker 14: have anything really putting together. Now we kind of going
- 14:49Speaker 14: through it a year. We got a whole team together,
- 14:51Speaker 14: so I get to enjoy this nurve everywhere. Last year
- 14:54Speaker 14: like didn't have any James scheduled or anythday. So I'm
- 14:57Speaker 14: looking forward to uh to get a kickback and a
- 15:00Speaker 14: business till can.
- 15:01Speaker 15: You kind of just talk about your prot class, what
- 15:03Speaker 15: you like about it, what you feeling?
- 15:04Speaker 11: You know what I see?
- 15:05Speaker 8: It got some good players. That's what I like the
- 15:07Speaker 8: most about it.
- 15:08Speaker 14: Right, and uh, I think it's a compliment each other. Well,
- 15:11Speaker 14: we got a shooter, drivers, slasher der fenders, got more
- 15:16Speaker 14: lan than last year.
- 15:18Speaker 8: I think our coaches did a really good job.
- 15:21Speaker 14: We have some really some great assistant coaches on our
- 15:24Speaker 14: staff identified what we needed. Obviously, this day and age
- 15:29Speaker 14: of it's a do the limit to what you can
- 15:31Speaker 14: get money wise? Right, everyone thinks that it's like hey.
- 15:40Speaker 8: But there's a limit to what you can get.
- 15:42Speaker 14: Obviously, it's not like a menu you get to choose everything.
- 15:45Speaker 8: There's a price tag. The players a face.
- 15:47Speaker 14: But for the cab that we had, I think wegether
- 15:50Speaker 14: good team I love and Aaron's saying, hey, just get
- 15:55Speaker 14: this GZ guy and they kind of come to get it.
- 15:57Speaker 8: Yeah, you know, we're looking at every avenue for players.
- 16:01Speaker 14: We know that, and uh we doank sure you want
- 16:03Speaker 14: to have to play against it, you know, and so
- 16:06Speaker 14: we saw him, you know, he never got to the poel.
- 16:09Speaker 14: So you know, we, uh, you want to play out
- 16:12Speaker 14: the basketball and you know, obviously I think they want
- 16:16Speaker 14: to be a part of that. Let me be a
- 16:17Speaker 14: part of Texan Enum. So, uh, we're thinking we're going
- 16:20Speaker 14: to get fit and uh, we're looking forward to a
- 16:23Speaker 14: lot of the future. But goes in this sort of
- 16:26Speaker 14: eligibility process for him, Yeah, he gotta you'll pop up
- 16:29Speaker 14: a waiver process, you know, and uh we go about
- 16:32Speaker 14: it that way. I can't comment too much on it,
- 16:34Speaker 14: you know, but uh, you know I'm listening forward your Uh,
- 16:39Speaker 14: I wouldn't want to get more Canca sauce.
- 16:42Speaker 4: The returners that you have on campus, Mackenzie honestly kind
- 16:45Speaker 4: of lighting that group.
- 16:46Speaker 3: Just what do you like about the groom.
- 16:47Speaker 8: Than saying it, Yeah, I mean we've got some continuity.
- 16:50Speaker 8: I think that matters that, you know.
- 16:51Speaker 14: I mean, yeah, I think for the most part, you know,
- 16:57Speaker 14: almost everybody wants to dates have to say, and even
- 17:01Speaker 14: guys that couldn't sometimes for in this day and age,
- 17:03Speaker 14: it's for financial reasons, right, And so I would say
- 17:07Speaker 14: that that you know, just because the player may lead,
- 17:10Speaker 14: don't always assume it is because they didn't want to
- 17:12Speaker 14: be stick.
- 17:13Speaker 8: And I think that's a good thing.
- 17:15Speaker 16: It's everybody he had wanted to be a part of
- 17:17Speaker 16: Van Hill and with this group that we had, I
- 17:20Speaker 16: thought to me we had a kind of an overachiefing
- 17:23Speaker 16: group in some way based on preases.
- 17:25Speaker 8: If I'm then.
- 17:26Speaker 14: Grab a lot of guys together last year, But now
- 17:29Speaker 14: I think we got some guys that can tell what
- 17:30Speaker 14: the foundation was that was way last year and kirotos
- 17:34Speaker 14: this group, and I think our expetitions can.
- 17:36Speaker 8: Be even higher. The cod being do easy.
- 17:42Speaker 14: He he's moving in the right direction.
- 17:47Speaker 8: He should start doing full work here in the summer
- 17:50Speaker 8: at some point.
- 17:51Speaker 14: We don't know Rens, but I was concerned a little
- 17:54Speaker 14: bit about his foot, but all this stuff in the
- 17:58Speaker 14: past month, he's really turned the corner and he's breaking
- 18:01Speaker 14: that until the four couple, and obviously he's such.
- 18:04Speaker 8: A hard work that do getting back.
- 18:08Speaker 14: He's quickly as someone can for that injury because he
- 18:11Speaker 14: worked so hard. As reality, he's gonna leasy guys this
- 18:17Speaker 14: this whole backs for.
- 18:22Speaker 8: People ask as all decide to try to get PJ.
- 18:25Speaker 14: Well, he's a leading returning at scorer and all the
- 18:28Speaker 14: cause basketball and he lived an hour and Freddie mant away,
- 18:31Speaker 14: he used to pretty easy decision, right hot this DJ
- 18:36Speaker 14: really wants to He's a great talent, great players. I
- 18:39Speaker 14: think he's on the a win and he really wanted
- 18:41Speaker 14: to be at n L. If you look, there's a
- 18:43Speaker 14: lot of great options. He could have gone about anywhere.
- 18:46Speaker 14: And you know, you know it was not just I'm
- 18:50Speaker 14: going there gonna financial reasons or something like that.
- 18:53Speaker 8: He had a lot of great options. He never thise
- 18:55Speaker 8: he wanted to come man him, do you want to
- 18:56Speaker 8: be an aggie?
- 18:57Speaker 14: And they wanted to win a hidness, So I think,
- 19:01Speaker 14: you know, there'll be a great fun in the league.
- 19:03Speaker 14: These other players complicated, complimented Wells and the guys that
- 19:07Speaker 14: we signed all condition. You know, Archie from Vis is
- 19:12Speaker 14: a really good player, Jalen Less is a really good player,
- 19:15Speaker 14: Jalon Shelley is.
- 19:16Speaker 8: A really good player. And obviously buy's in the rn uh.
- 19:18Speaker 14: The guard folks, you know what I'm saying, and that's
- 19:21Speaker 14: time to getting another place that any kind of difference
- 19:23Speaker 14: to this.
- 19:23Speaker 8: We're just listen as they call back guards. But the
- 19:27Speaker 8: one thing I do like you start bringing this down.
- 19:29Speaker 8: You know you got Haggerty, Oh columbing seches.
- 19:33Speaker 10: You got Zach Cleming from Tectic Dommit from Tectic Jet
- 19:36Speaker 10: Defensive Protection Texas.
- 19:39Speaker 8: He got Archies from Texas. You got one or two
- 19:43Speaker 8: more tech.
- 19:44Speaker 14: I'm talking on living out, but point being, you got
- 19:46Speaker 14: a lot of people from tests. But where you re
- 19:49Speaker 14: line up and lea play, you know, felt the vibralary
- 19:53Speaker 14: t They're gonna know the heck I get made.
- 19:56Speaker 8: What's your favorite part about Sayer? I just seeing everybody.
- 20:00Speaker 8: I like seeing the path now that my baggage. I
- 20:03Speaker 8: can't like you.
- 20:03Speaker 10: I didn't know I was walking in news. I had
- 20:05Speaker 10: no idea. I literally I didn't know if they're gonna
- 20:08Speaker 10: talk to people. I was literally getting down a long
- 20:11Speaker 10: joll bess thoughtful. I kind of I got the wings
- 20:13Speaker 10: thinking that.
- 20:14Speaker 8: So I walk out there thousand beep on. Then I forget.
- 20:20Speaker 15: So I I just like, what makes A and M.
- 20:24Speaker 14: Really grace is that if you're in college station, it's
- 20:27Speaker 14: all about daggies. But when you go across the state,
- 20:30Speaker 14: you know you got people that are all about bagging
- 20:33Speaker 14: and this is this is real, This is real that
- 20:36Speaker 14: I'm not saying here that I've been I grew up
- 20:40Speaker 14: in Scy country. But there's something special about the honor
- 20:49Speaker 14: of the people associated Texas A and m I mean
- 20:53Speaker 14: that like Mariyad is not fool to not do the
- 20:57Speaker 14: right thing, you know what I'm saying now, Respect that
- 21:00Speaker 14: like a great deal because you know it's not as
- 21:05Speaker 14: company as you think.
- 21:05Speaker 8: You got the hood approach these days. One guy sets
- 21:08Speaker 8: up and down thirty gud do the whole thing because
- 21:10Speaker 8: that's what the herd does. But that's not it here.
- 21:13Speaker 8: And so it's played to associate with the minute you're
- 21:16Speaker 8: proud to wear him on the on your shirt.
- 21:21Speaker 17: Spirit the last spine time that we hold it and
- 21:31Speaker 17: then let's see what's would develop.
- 21:33Speaker 18: You know.
- 21:34Speaker 19: You know there's two things are dealing with ers are
- 21:36Speaker 19: dealing with a scholarship and then money, right, so you know,
- 21:40Speaker 19: I mean there's only so much money to go around,
- 21:43Speaker 19: and then they're the scholarship.
- 21:44Speaker 8: So you know, we hear a lot about people say
- 21:46Speaker 8: we why did they and them go get this out?
- 21:48Speaker 2: You know then?
- 21:49Speaker 8: Or why do they get this out? I think that
- 21:51Speaker 8: they forget that, like you know when this stuff adds,
- 21:53Speaker 8: that's at three, so you know we're looking this last spot.
- 21:57Speaker 8: We do have a scholarship, That's what I'll say.
- 22:00Speaker 14: And that's the only all we have a scholarship, having
- 22:04Speaker 14: a fridge concepts have the boy time?
- 22:07Speaker 20: Was it just like to use easier you to but
- 22:10Speaker 20: you said yes, well at this floor class yes, the
- 22:16Speaker 20: last night.
- 22:17Speaker 14: Why I think it beats your reveal when you're show
- 22:19Speaker 14: up and you you're showing what you're going to groove,
- 22:24Speaker 14: and you're showing people that we're in sexted in Jerseys
- 22:27Speaker 14: the last of them, Fridgit Plass, you're not lape worms
- 22:31Speaker 14: and where should be when sampor Jersey.
- 22:34Speaker 20: I did that one on the play White and we
- 22:37Speaker 20: were showing that we asked successfully he was about to
- 22:39Speaker 20: the firsts and then we showed that these I read
- 22:44Speaker 20: the show and some of the gays are just lod
- 22:46Speaker 20: in the air. What it was White, But so a
- 22:49Speaker 20: kind of he has a staff. Does players know what
- 22:51Speaker 20: they're getting into? Right?
- 22:53Speaker 8: And uh, there's no where they.
- 22:56Speaker 14: Know where and then there's obviously no excuse the other
- 22:58Speaker 14: way because they seen it, you know how We're gonna
- 23:01Speaker 14: play what we're going to demand and that will make
- 23:04Speaker 14: coaster these issues.
- 23:06Speaker 8: You never been in Pahamas and yeah, I've never been
- 23:11Speaker 8: to the event.
- 23:11Speaker 14: I've been to Bahama before, but on our senior trimp
- 23:15Speaker 14: in high school to Bahama somehow or back alive.
- 23:19Speaker 8: Still a lot after that. But now I'm excited about it.
- 23:22Speaker 8: I mean, we watch it. It's uh has a really
- 23:24Speaker 8: good teams in it.
- 23:27Speaker 14: Maybe at this task, I'm looking for that career walk
- 23:31Speaker 14: most of fortulays of clear waters.
- 23:40Speaker 8: Yeah, yeah, so you know, you know we we just
- 23:44Speaker 8: mentioned the crack that we had tied the Berto Blacks.
- 23:48Speaker 14: I mean, you know he's he's on Nikolas at the
- 23:51Speaker 14: guard for us earlier as a hyphlay kid than Gosh,
- 23:55Speaker 14: I'm signed.
- 23:55Speaker 8: Thank John got Irvin you know you're talking.
- 23:58Speaker 14: About in the front port is he's good at a
- 24:01Speaker 14: high school d he was at a forty and of bound.
- 24:04Speaker 8: You know what I'm saying.
- 24:04Speaker 14: You got McKenzie and Bacco, you got Zach Klemills, who
- 24:08Speaker 14: got Jenue Benson.
- 24:09Speaker 8: You've got Kate Phillip was right, he can play it all.
- 24:13Speaker 13: Over the floor.
- 24:14Speaker 14: But guart Agile and Mercedor he got Chris but Dermot.
- 24:19Speaker 14: So you know we going to add up those dives
- 24:21Speaker 14: and pretty much three deep and.
- 24:22Speaker 8: All the spots. So I'm pleased you, I really am,
- 24:27Speaker 8: and just just talk guy stripper with the portals. Now.
- 24:31Speaker 14: I think Cave is going to be a really good
- 24:33Speaker 14: player for us because he was a part of the
- 24:36Speaker 14: Lee A team where he was pretty much for cap.
- 24:39Speaker 8: You have that team. That's Ennessee.
- 24:40Speaker 14: I've known him a long time. That's from Alabama. I
- 24:44Speaker 14: know what he's about. He's a connector and so that's
- 24:47Speaker 14: an addition of that to this selfie bray. But Russ
- 24:49Speaker 14: wasn't doing all. You got paid his pride like the
- 24:51Speaker 14: Jens another Bates tried here this in this off season.
- 24:54Speaker 14: Making have to deterior that's it.
- 24:56Speaker 2: That's uh, Bucky. Look, I know the is a little funky.
- 25:01Speaker 2: It's because we compressed it to take a lot of
- 25:04Speaker 2: that crowd noise out. But I think you got the
- 25:10Speaker 2: vast majority of the GISTs that he was talking about
- 25:13Speaker 2: this year's recruiting class at coaches Night. The Brass County
- 25:18Speaker 2: Coaches Night is a week from Saturday evening on the thirtieth.
- 25:25Speaker 1: Then they'll go to.
- 25:26Speaker 2: Austin in July fourteenth, fort Worth on the fifteenth, and
- 25:32Speaker 2: Houston on July twentieth. I broke them up a little
- 25:36Speaker 2: bit this year, three in May, three in July. So,
- 25:40Speaker 2: having said that, let's hear a little bit from Mike Elco.
- 25:45Speaker 13: Well, Mike, how do you.
- 25:47Speaker 21: Feel like the program is now compared to maybe when
- 25:49Speaker 21: you were last couple of years at this event and
- 25:53Speaker 21: what do you hope to share with everybody here tonight.
- 25:56Speaker 20: Yeah.
- 25:56Speaker 22: I think it's just another step in building the foundation
- 25:59Speaker 22: and taking this thing where we want to go. I
- 26:01Speaker 22: don't think we've ever really spoke about where we were.
- 26:04Speaker 22: I think we've always spoke about where we want to
- 26:06Speaker 22: go and then the direction we want to head in.
- 26:08Speaker 22: And so it's another exciting offseason. I think a lot
- 26:11Speaker 22: of things are pointing in a real positive direction around
- 26:13Speaker 22: the program, and it's great to get out and see
- 26:16Speaker 22: the id's and then go out and visit with the globes.
- 26:19Speaker 8: Just being in Dallas.
- 26:20Speaker 13: Talk about the ties to Dallas and your program, just
- 26:22Speaker 13: some of the kids.
- 26:23Speaker 14: That have come from the city.
- 26:24Speaker 13: Yeah, obviously it's a huge recruiting fertile ground.
- 26:26Speaker 22: You know, here in Houston have been the predominant cities
- 26:29Speaker 22: for us, and I think we've done a really good
- 26:31Speaker 22: job branching out in.
- 26:32Speaker 13: The East Texas some other areas too.
- 26:34Speaker 22: But anytime you're up here in the Metroplex, you know
- 26:36Speaker 22: how big football is and how important it is that
- 26:39Speaker 22: you go up here and you establish.
- 26:40Speaker 13: Roots and how big I can play and the recruiting
- 26:43Speaker 13: battles to come.
- 26:44Speaker 21: What do you reflect back on the spring? What are
- 26:47Speaker 21: maybe one or two things that you're kind of happy
- 26:49Speaker 21: about what.
- 26:50Speaker 13: Your program was able to do. Yeah, I just think,
- 26:52Speaker 13: you know, we're continuing to take strides.
- 26:54Speaker 22: You know when you look at at a lot of
- 26:55Speaker 22: the things that are indicating success around your program. Thirteen
- 26:59Speaker 22: guys at the comp and we had double digit draft picks,
- 27:02Speaker 22: so those things are all really good.
- 27:03Speaker 13: We were able to go out and have a really.
- 27:04Speaker 22: Good cycle in signing high school kids in combination with
- 27:08Speaker 22: portal kids to create a very competitive.
- 27:11Speaker 13: Environment for us this spring.
- 27:13Speaker 22: And so you know, now as we head into the summer,
- 27:15Speaker 22: I just think the programs in a really healthy state,
- 27:17Speaker 22: and again everything is about just continuing to move forward.
- 27:20Speaker 21: Speaking of the combine, just how did you take that
- 27:22Speaker 21: in and how nice is it to just see a
- 27:23Speaker 21: bunch of techa and m.
- 27:25Speaker 13: Pop up off the court. Yeah, I think that's the
- 27:27Speaker 13: step for us.
- 27:28Speaker 22: I think if you look at the markers for what
- 27:30Speaker 22: good programs look like, ten draft picks is clearly that marker.
- 27:35Speaker 22: We established that very early. We spoke about that very
- 27:38Speaker 22: very openly, that that was something we wanted to get to.
- 27:41Speaker 22: You know, I think we had twenty in the six
- 27:43Speaker 22: previous years, right, and so we weren't anywhere near it,
- 27:46Speaker 22: and so it's a good step. It's a good sign
- 27:49Speaker 22: for a program.
- 27:50Speaker 21: How please are you with just recruitings going right now?
- 27:53Speaker 21: And how much easier is it to kind of sell
- 27:56Speaker 21: when you have that perfect concept from last season?
- 27:58Speaker 13: Yeah? Just again, everything we've talked about out is elevation.
- 28:00Speaker 22: You know, this program needed to find a way to
- 28:02Speaker 22: elevate itself to become the program we were capable of.
- 28:05Speaker 22: And obviously on field success, development, success in the draft,
- 28:10Speaker 22: you know, those things play a big part of it.
- 28:11Speaker 22: But you know, we're just starting to scratch the surface.
- 28:14Speaker 22: You know, those are those are markers we've got to
- 28:16Speaker 22: continue to hit year in and year out, and I
- 28:18Speaker 22: think the more we do that, the more we'll become
- 28:20Speaker 22: the program we want to be.
- 28:22Speaker 9: You've been in a lot of different recent sporting events
- 28:24Speaker 9: Savannah Bananas, you know, softball, some.
- 28:26Speaker 23: Some baseball as well.
- 28:27Speaker 9: Just how cool is it to see a lot of
- 28:29Speaker 9: these events, specifically the Savanna Bananas come to a stage
- 28:32Speaker 9: like Kylefield.
- 28:32Speaker 13: Yeah, I think it's all really cool.
- 28:34Speaker 22: I think obviously, you know, bringing in the Savannah Bananas,
- 28:36Speaker 22: having one hundred and two thousand set in the record
- 28:38Speaker 22: for their attendance, and then what has become a really
- 28:41Speaker 22: really popular sporting group. You know, there was a little
- 28:43Speaker 22: bit of a unique draw to that. One of the
- 28:46Speaker 22: Savannah Banana has played Little League with my son back
- 28:48Speaker 22: in Bowling Green, Ohio, so that was really cool. And
- 28:52Speaker 22: you know, but then even just to see some of
- 28:53Speaker 22: the success of our other teams. You know, we're hosting
- 28:55Speaker 22: a regional in softball this weekend. Baseball's fighting for a
- 28:59Speaker 22: national seat, Women's golf just advance today. There's just a
- 29:03Speaker 22: lot of really really positive things going on around Texas
- 29:07Speaker 22: and m athletics and women's tennis is gonna play in
- 29:10Speaker 22: the Elite eight, and just it's it's really cool to
- 29:12Speaker 22: be part of a really special group that's succeeding on
- 29:14Speaker 22: and off the pitch, and it's good to be.
- 29:16Speaker 13: Around those guys.
- 29:18Speaker 21: I remember you said in the spring consistency, urgency, kind
- 29:21Speaker 21: of the mantra you want this team and Marcel to have.
- 29:24Speaker 13: Have you seen them kind of live up to that
- 29:26Speaker 13: so far?
- 29:27Speaker 15: Yeah.
- 29:27Speaker 22: I mean you're not living up the things until the
- 29:28Speaker 22: season starts, and so you know, there's nothing to live
- 29:31Speaker 22: up to right now.
- 29:32Speaker 13: We're a work in progress. We're building.
- 29:34Speaker 22: You know, we've got to be ready to go for
- 29:37Speaker 22: September and then obviously be able to sustain it through
- 29:39Speaker 22: the entire season.
- 29:40Speaker 13: What's your favorite part about these coaches Nights.
- 29:43Speaker 22: I think just getting out and seeing people who have
- 29:45Speaker 22: dedicated their lives to Texas A and M football. You know,
- 29:48Speaker 22: you look at a guy like Mike Henderson and everything
- 29:50Speaker 22: that he's put into this club and.
- 29:51Speaker 13: What he does for this event, it's just really cool.
- 29:54Speaker 22: And then you get out in the audience and you
- 29:56Speaker 22: just see a lot of people that take so much
- 29:58Speaker 22: pride in Texas A and M footb offs and in
- 30:00Speaker 22: athletics and the university as a whole, and so it's
- 30:04Speaker 22: just it's a really special university and it's it's a
- 30:06Speaker 22: really unique.
- 30:06Speaker 13: Place to be around. Did you get a chance to
- 30:09Speaker 13: talk to Levion. I know it's kind of came out
- 30:11Speaker 13: that he's retiring and what he maybe meant.
- 30:13Speaker 14: To you guys.
- 30:14Speaker 13: Yeah, obviously he was a great player for us. He's
- 30:16Speaker 13: a great young man, you know.
- 30:18Speaker 22: Unfortunately that it didn't work out for him, but he'll
- 30:21Speaker 22: go on and he'll be a really really successful night.
- 30:23Speaker 2: And so mikelco at the Dallas A and m Coaches Night.
- 30:30Speaker 2: I hope you enjoyed that. And like I said, the
- 30:33Speaker 2: one in Brezes County a week from Saturday on the thirtieth,
- 30:38Speaker 2: coming up. By the way, Vanderbilt leading Kentucky five to
- 30:43Speaker 2: four in the eighth inning.
- 30:45Speaker 1: Of that game.
- 30:45Speaker 2: It's still going on. It was, by schedule, supposed to
- 30:50Speaker 2: be over an hour ago, but that's not happening. I'm
- 30:55Speaker 2: not sure when LSU and Oklahoma are gonna play, but
- 30:58Speaker 2: it'll probably be er tomorrow morning. That's my guess. That's
- 31:04Speaker 2: what you get for trying to play. You know, they
- 31:06Speaker 2: started at nine thirty this morning. They started at nine thirty.
- 31:16Speaker 2: That's seven hours ago. We're in the eighth inning of
- 31:21Speaker 2: game two. The Game three was supposed to be starting
- 31:27Speaker 2: right now. There's no way to'll start before five fifteenish.
- 31:32Speaker 2: If they're lucky, and then that means well, probably nine
- 31:41Speaker 2: to nine thirty at the earliest for game four this evening.
- 31:46Speaker 2: All right, we'll keep you updated on that. We've got
- 31:48Speaker 2: a high school report coming up. I want to send
- 31:51Speaker 2: you to Galleria, either the day Spa on Rock Prairie
- 31:56Speaker 2: across from Scott and White, or right there at the

- 34:10Speaker 12: I love the fact that Aaron Rodgers and Mike McCarthy
- 34:12Speaker 12: get to come back together. On the other side of
- 34:14Speaker 12: the coin, though, is the Pittsburgh Steelers franchise and them
- 34:18Speaker 12: being able to stabilize the most important position in all
- 34:20Speaker 12: the team sports. And I don't think this signing helps
- 34:22Speaker 12: them do that any way, shape or form, and until
- 34:25Speaker 12: they find a viable long term solution, They're going to
- 34:28Speaker 12: continue to stay on the treadmill of mediocrity Unsportsman Life.

- 34:58Speaker 9: I'm Caleb Rapley and and today we are jumping out
- 35:01Speaker 9: to the Polaris Fun Center phone line to visit with
- 35:04Speaker 9: the head coach of the Lake Creek Lions baseball team,
- 35:09Speaker 9: mister Jeremy Shram, coach. Thanks for joining me today, Yes, sir,
- 35:14Speaker 9: so your Lions getting ready to play in the regional
- 35:17Speaker 9: final round of the UIL.
- 35:19Speaker 6: Five A Division one playoffs.
- 35:21Speaker 9: It's been a great playoff run so far, especially after
- 35:25Speaker 9: a very, very tough schedule in the regular season. You'all
- 35:29Speaker 9: played a lot of tough tournaments, and District seventeen is
- 35:32Speaker 9: always one of the most competitive districts in baseball in
- 35:36Speaker 9: the state. So how do you think having that, you know,
- 35:39Speaker 9: that really tough regular season, how much has that been
- 35:42Speaker 9: a benefit for you now that it's playoff time.
- 35:44Speaker 28: Well, I think especially during the tournament season, the tournaments
- 35:49Speaker 28: we played in, the competition we played in our non
- 35:51Speaker 28: district schedule, he really prepared us for district. We played
- 35:57Speaker 28: some really good teams, some ranked teams in six day
- 36:00Speaker 28: and it allowed it kind of exposed us in areas
- 36:04Speaker 28: that we weren't as good as what maybe what we thought.
- 36:08Speaker 28: Uh it show it made very clear what we need
- 36:11Speaker 28: to get better in. And then uh it really prepared
- 36:15Speaker 28: us to get ready to play in District seventeen five
- 36:18Speaker 28: A and then Districts seventeen five A. It's just it's
- 36:21Speaker 28: a meat grinder each week. You have to show up,
- 36:25Speaker 28: you have to be ready to play. It's really good competition.
- 36:29Speaker 20: You know.
- 36:30Speaker 28: In our playoff run there we've played some good teams
- 36:34Speaker 28: in the playoffs, but I think in our district we
- 36:36Speaker 28: played some teams that did not make the playoffs that
- 36:39Speaker 28: would also be having success in the play would be
- 36:42Speaker 28: having success too. So it prepared us, you know, really
- 36:46Speaker 28: for us though, each and every day that we show up,
- 36:50Speaker 28: our goal is to work and to get better and
- 36:52Speaker 28: to make ourselves better. And we really you know, playing
- 36:55Speaker 28: good teams and that is good. But the focus from
- 36:58Speaker 28: the beginning of the year to the right now is
- 37:00Speaker 28: every time we walk out the fields just continue to
- 37:03Speaker 28: get better.
- 37:03Speaker 9: So you mentioned those tournaments really helped you understand where
- 37:08Speaker 9: you were as a team versus you know where you
- 37:10Speaker 9: thought you were at the beginning of the season. What
- 37:12Speaker 9: were some things that maybe surprised you about about this
- 37:16Speaker 9: squad based on your expectations from earlier in the year.
- 37:19Speaker 28: I wouldn't say there's nothing when it comes to performance.
- 37:25Speaker 28: There's really nothing that they have a surprises because in
- 37:29Speaker 28: off season when we showed up in August, our seniors
- 37:32Speaker 28: they're really good leaders. We have a great senior group
- 37:35Speaker 28: this year that has led us through off season now
- 37:38Speaker 28: and the kids that put in work each and every
- 37:41Speaker 28: day that they're here, and a lot of these kids
- 37:43Speaker 28: outside of school when they when school bell ends and
- 37:47Speaker 28: you know off season was done, they were staying late
- 37:50Speaker 28: and working. So there's really nothing that has shot me
- 37:55Speaker 28: about the success that they are having. But I would
- 37:58Speaker 28: probably just say senior leadership has been a big part
- 38:01Speaker 28: of our success this year. A lot of our seniors
- 38:05Speaker 28: have been on varsity for three years. Three years ago
- 38:09Speaker 28: we went five rounds deep to the regional finals, so
- 38:13Speaker 28: they've been there and they knew what it took to
- 38:15Speaker 28: get there. So I would really credit that is what
- 38:19Speaker 28: has helped us. But in terms of early season schedule.
- 38:24Speaker 28: Maybe our record wasn't what it should have been or
- 38:27Speaker 28: could have been, but I just give it credit to
- 38:30Speaker 28: the teams we were playing. And you know, not everybody
- 38:34Speaker 28: schedules six eighteen, but we do because we're just trying
- 38:40Speaker 28: to push ourselves and make ourselves better. And every time
- 38:44Speaker 28: we go out there and play good competition, you know,
- 38:46Speaker 28: it only prepares us for when we need to win games.
- 38:50Speaker 9: So we talked about earlier how tough District seventeen was.
- 38:53Speaker 9: Your relions ended up with the seven and five district record.
- 38:56Speaker 9: So after that, you know, really back and forth, up
- 39:00Speaker 9: and down stretch of games. You've won six in a
- 39:03Speaker 9: row in the first three series of playoffs. So what
- 39:06Speaker 9: have been some of the keys to success there.
- 39:09Speaker 28: In the playoffs? The key for us has been our pitching.
- 39:14Speaker 28: We have pitched really well. Our starters have gone out
- 39:17Speaker 28: there and given us four or five innings and has
- 39:21Speaker 28: really kept the bats from the other team really quiet
- 39:23Speaker 28: and silent. And then the guys that have come off
- 39:26Speaker 28: the bench to finish out games have done well. So
- 39:29Speaker 28: our pitching has done very well for us in this stretch.
- 39:33Speaker 28: You know, we're playing good defense too. Right now, it's
- 39:37Speaker 28: not like we're making outrageous plays. We're just we're just
- 39:40Speaker 28: dominating the routine play and pitching and defense. It just
- 39:45Speaker 28: gives you a chance every game.
- 39:47Speaker 8: You know, you we are in the.
- 39:49Speaker 28: Playoffs, we are facing better pitching. Uh you know, guys,
- 39:53Speaker 28: they are pitching us, they're scouting reports out on us,
- 39:56Speaker 28: so runs are hard to combine. So with with that
- 40:00Speaker 28: being said that, you know, really during the stretch we've
- 40:03Speaker 28: pitched and we've played really good defense.
- 40:05Speaker 9: So we've got the regional final on deck tomorrow night
- 40:09Speaker 9: at six pm in Sweeney You'll be taking on Victoria East.
- 40:14Speaker 9: The Titans very successful so far this season, over thirty wins,
- 40:19Speaker 9: undefeated in district play, district champions from District twenty two.
- 40:24Speaker 9: So what do you expect to see from them in
- 40:27Speaker 9: this regional final matchup?
- 40:29Speaker 28: And top of their batting lineup, they can swing it
- 40:31Speaker 28: pretty good. They have four guys up there that can
- 40:38Speaker 28: put the ball out of the ballpark. But after that,
- 40:42Speaker 28: on the backside of the lineup, they may not be
- 40:45Speaker 28: hitting home runs, but they are budding people over They're
- 40:49Speaker 28: doing the little things right, So you know they're gonna
- 40:53Speaker 28: be a good team to face here in the regional finals.
- 40:56Speaker 28: Obviously they're going to have a couple arms that are
- 41:00Speaker 28: good too. I mean, they're here in the fourth round
- 41:02Speaker 28: for a reason. But yeah, I feel that it's going
- 41:05Speaker 28: to be a series, just like the last couple of stays.
- 41:07Speaker 28: We're just going to go out there and we're gonna
- 41:09Speaker 28: have to play the way we're capable of playing, not
- 41:12Speaker 28: really too caught up about them as much as we
- 41:15Speaker 28: are worried about us how we go out there and perform.
- 41:17Speaker 9: So I've noticed with Victoria East in particular, that lineup
- 41:22Speaker 9: you were talking about very strong, but it's also very
- 41:25Speaker 9: senior heavy, and I know that's something that can really
- 41:28Speaker 9: make a difference, especially in the playoffs, just having that experience.
- 41:33Speaker 9: How much of an impact do you think that makes
- 41:35Speaker 9: in your opinion, Well, I think.
- 41:38Speaker 28: The experience of playing in the regional finals that's help
- 41:41Speaker 28: a team. I mean, when we start talking about experience,
- 41:45Speaker 28: you know, we have our lead off hitter, Jackson Marshall,
- 41:49Speaker 28: who started for US as a sophomore and we played
- 41:51Speaker 28: in the regional finals. Renew Kirk started in this lineup
- 41:55Speaker 28: as a sophomore in the regional finals, and Pete Tremeil
- 41:58Speaker 28: was also a contributed as they were sophomores. I think
- 42:02Speaker 28: that experience does help. When you have played in games
- 42:05Speaker 28: this late in the season, they understand how we need
- 42:09Speaker 28: to prepare to be successful. So for us, I can't
- 42:14Speaker 28: speak on Victoria's but for us, those seniors that have
- 42:17Speaker 28: been there done that, not only are they playing well,
- 42:21Speaker 28: but they're leading this group in the right director and
- 42:23Speaker 28: how we're supposed to prepare ourselves each and every week.
- 42:26Speaker 9: All right, Coach, Well, thank you for your time today.
- 42:28Speaker 9: Good luck this week against the Titans.

- 45:46Speaker 11: The Astros were in Minnesota last night to take on
- 45:48Speaker 11: the Twins. Minnesota came out swinging as they took a
- 45:51Speaker 11: three to dozing lead in the fourth thanks to a

- 46:09Speaker 6: A two run homer for Josh Bell, his second of
- 46:11Speaker 6: the ball game, and the Twins lay three to nothing.
- 46:15Speaker 11: The Twins would add three more in the sixth for
- 46:17Speaker 11: a six nothing advantage. Houston would fight back, scoring three
- 46:20Speaker 11: in the seventh, and they had the tying Wren up
- 46:22Speaker 11: to bat in the ninth, but came up shore as
- 46:25Speaker 11: they fell with a final score six to three. Houston

- 47:38Speaker 2: being with us on this Tuesday. Clint Black will join
- 47:42Speaker 2: me coming up in the second hour of the program.
- 47:46Speaker 2: But right now I'm gonna I'm scrolling through the social
- 47:49Speaker 2: media today and I always look at the the Dan
- 47:54Speaker 2: Patrick bits that they put up from his show. I'm
- 47:56Speaker 2: a fan have been for a long time. He's a
- 47:59Speaker 2: friend of the show, and he took a call and
- 48:04Speaker 2: it hit on the subject that I have talked about
- 48:08Speaker 2: a couple of times on our program, and it's becoming
- 48:13Speaker 2: more and more prevalent because once the network's admitted they
- 48:18Speaker 2: pipe in bird sounds to their golf coverage, it seems
- 48:23Speaker 2: like they have doubled down on the volume and the
- 48:30Speaker 2: loop that they run and are unapologetic for it. And
- 48:35Speaker 2: here's how this discussion started today on the Dan Patrick Show.
- 48:40Speaker 6: David in La, Hi, David, what's on your mind?
- 48:44Speaker 15: Good morning, gentlemen, And you were hubbed yesterday. That just
- 48:49Speaker 15: frankles me.
- 48:49Speaker 11: To no end.
- 48:51Speaker 15: A somewhat of an avid birdwatcher, I've been crying sal
- 48:55Speaker 15: for years against the piping bird song made broadcast where
- 48:58Speaker 15: they did their fatigue. What I find is they often
- 49:01Speaker 15: will get the species right for a geographic area, but
- 49:04Speaker 15: not to the cringeworthy degree that they're depicted. So, for example,
- 49:09Speaker 15: like at the Masters, you'll hear loops of northern cardinal
- 49:13Speaker 15: whitebirded sparrow eric robin because they have very melodiate songs,
- 49:18Speaker 15: but you would never hear them singing to that degree
- 49:21Speaker 15: in those manicured habitats, and Dan, as a man who's
- 49:24Speaker 15: played on multiple courses, don't you find it strange you
- 49:28Speaker 15: never hear blackbirds, crows, beasts, all those long loving birds
- 49:33Speaker 15: that every golfer knows work on every fairway.
- 49:38Speaker 33: David, can you sense when these are fake bird sounds
- 49:42Speaker 33: on a golf broadcast?
- 49:44Speaker 15: Absolutely? Yes, They're just overdone. They're too cloying. I think
- 49:51Speaker 15: that if they dial back a little, the birds are
- 49:55Speaker 15: correct generally for those geographic areas, but they're you can
- 50:00Speaker 15: tell their.
- 50:01Speaker 6: Loops, and it felt like that at Quail Hollow.
- 50:05Speaker 33: It felt like the same bird was following the leaders
- 50:08Speaker 33: around the golf course and really at a remarkably high pitch.
- 50:15Speaker 15: I agree they tend to favor white shorted sparrows. I
- 50:20Speaker 15: hear that a lot and cardinals.
- 50:23Speaker 6: All right, well, thank you, David.
- 50:26Speaker 33: Maybe maybe CBS or nb C should hire him just
- 50:29Speaker 33: so he can be their their bird expert or what
- 50:32Speaker 33: bird sounds you pipe in?
- 50:34Speaker 6: Why do why do we need to do that? Yes, Todd,
- 50:38Speaker 6: but I was just going to ask you what does
- 50:39Speaker 6: that say about a sport?
- 50:40Speaker 34: And it's not just golf, So I'm not picking on
- 50:42Speaker 34: golf that you have to pipe.
- 50:43Speaker 13: In fake noise.
- 50:44Speaker 6: What does that say that in the NFL?
- 50:47Speaker 34: Why, like you said, why is that needed?
- 50:49Speaker 14: Why?
- 50:50Speaker 34: What is it about the sport that's not inherently entertaining
- 50:52Speaker 34: enough that we've got to have all these sound effects.
- 50:54Speaker 33: Well, I understand if you're going to pipe in sound.
- 50:58Speaker 33: Let's say it's in Atlanta or it's in Indianapolis and
- 51:01Speaker 33: it's indoor, and you want to create more of a
- 51:04Speaker 33: home crowd advantage. There, there's no advantage to piping in
- 51:09Speaker 33: this bird and it was one bird, and damn was
- 51:12Speaker 33: he busy?
- 51:13Speaker 6: He sang for like five hours? Yes, Doling.
- 51:17Speaker 5: So this I found an article from twenty nineteen because
- 51:20Speaker 5: there is that kind of conspiracy about the mass of
- 51:22Speaker 5: them doing this at the Masters as well, and from
- 51:25Speaker 5: the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. John Fitzpatrick first noticed this
- 51:29Speaker 5: happening in two thousand because the PGA Championship was in
- 51:34Speaker 5: Kentucky and like the call just said, he was hearing
- 51:37Speaker 5: birds like white throated sparrows that don't exist in Kentucky
- 51:40Speaker 5: in the summertime, Dan Dundne, But I don't.
- 51:44Speaker 8: Know why you do this.
- 51:46Speaker 33: You is it to create that much more ambiance? And
- 51:51Speaker 33: if you're tuning into golf. I want to hear the
- 51:53Speaker 33: sounds of the actual golf ball, golf club, not a
- 51:58Speaker 33: silver throated red sparrow or something.
- 52:01Speaker 35: Yes, Paul, I completely disagree. I love the fake birds sounds.
- 52:04Speaker 35: When you go out to a golf course or park,
- 52:07Speaker 35: there's a natural sounds of nature around you, and I
- 52:10Speaker 35: don't think they can mic them up naturally during a
- 52:13Speaker 35: golf event because from hole to hole there's different birds,
- 52:15Speaker 35: there's fewer birds, and they want consistency in the broadcast
- 52:18Speaker 35: and they pump in bird sounds for but it's not real.
- 52:22Speaker 1: It's real to me, dammit.
- 52:24Speaker 33: Okay, but what's it say about you if you're manufacturing
- 52:28Speaker 33: and you know an environment, the ambiance there for an event.
- 52:33Speaker 13: I don't know.
- 52:33Speaker 6: It seems wrong, but I'm just a purist when it
- 52:36Speaker 6: comes to bird sounds.
- 52:38Speaker 5: Yes, Well, when the Truest Championship atquil Holla, which you
- 52:42Speaker 5: were talking about, you texted us and said, are you
- 52:46Speaker 5: guys hearing these bird sounds? And I hadn't really noticed
- 52:48Speaker 5: it that much up until that point, and then after
- 52:50Speaker 5: that text, it was all I could hear, and to
- 52:52Speaker 5: the point where I think I started hearing when they
- 52:54Speaker 5: would like reloop around like, I was like, this is
- 52:58Speaker 5: too repetitive.
- 53:00Speaker 33: Yeah, I didn't want anything bad to happen to the bird,
- 53:02Speaker 33: but I did want the bird to be quiet for
- 53:05Speaker 33: a little while.
- 53:06Speaker 35: Yes, Paul, and it's quail hollow. Generally, female quails are quiet.
- 53:11Speaker 35: Male quails are quite loud, and they produce a shrill sound.
- 53:14Speaker 6: You don't want that on TV. Well, but at least
- 53:17Speaker 6: it's natural to the habitat there. You're a purist, Yes.
- 53:23Speaker 5: Yes, it's funny that Augusta, uh may or the masters
- 53:27Speaker 5: may or may not have been piping in bird sounds
- 53:29Speaker 5: because don't they get rid of all the animals on
- 53:31Speaker 5: the property.
- 53:32Speaker 33: And I guess the tough accusation, I don't know. I
- 53:35Speaker 33: don't want to get involved in that crossfire with Augusta. Allegedly, yeah, allegedly.
- 53:41Speaker 33: I haven't played Augusta in thirty years, so I want
- 53:45Speaker 33: to make sure that I'm still in good standing with
- 53:47Speaker 33: the folks there.
- 53:48Speaker 34: Yes, time we're used to it, but when you're attending
- 53:50Speaker 34: a live sporting event, I guess it would sound really weird.
- 53:53Speaker 34: How to take it up? When you're burner berner, burner
- 53:57Speaker 34: and all the different sounds, It is that necessary that
- 53:59Speaker 34: did always exists. I'm sure back in the old days,
- 54:02Speaker 34: at some point someone felt the need that we need
- 54:04Speaker 34: an organ and we gotta constantly have durn.
- 54:08Speaker 13: Why is there that?
- 54:09Speaker 33: Yeah, but I know that that's not real. Okay, but
- 54:13Speaker 33: you're right. You know, growing up going to a sporting event,
- 54:16Speaker 33: I didn't need to be told to get up or
- 54:20Speaker 33: cheer or applaud any of that stuff. Now it feels like, hey,
- 54:24Speaker 33: we got to get this crowd going a little bit, yes, Marvin, So.
- 54:32Speaker 22: You don't like it on the jubbo tryn at football
- 54:33Speaker 22: stadiums when a players like, come on, everybody, it's third down,
- 54:37Speaker 22: get up?
- 54:38Speaker 30: All right?
- 54:42Speaker 6: Oh yes, oh yeah, make some noise.
- 54:45Speaker 1: It's third down, get up.
- 54:46Speaker 13: I think they're they're up.
- 54:50Speaker 2: They all make good points, right. I don't need the
- 54:53Speaker 2: bird sounds during golf tournaments. I'm not watching to hear
- 54:59Speaker 2: birds in the back. I don't need to go to
- 55:02Speaker 2: any sporting event, and some like you can't hear yourself.
- 55:08Speaker 2: I know this is an old man talking, right. It
- 55:11Speaker 2: has gotten so loud with music. I'm going to I
- 55:17Speaker 2: guess I'm just well, I'm just old. But we all
- 55:20Speaker 2: know that I'm just going to see the game. I
- 55:23Speaker 2: want the game. I want to experience. The game doesn't
- 55:25Speaker 2: matter baseball, football, basketball, Just the game. That's all I need.
- 55:30Speaker 2: I don't need to be entertained during timeouts. I know
- 55:34Speaker 2: that the attention span of prior of future generations, younger
- 55:42Speaker 2: generations is small, so I guess you need all of that.
- 55:47Speaker 2: I don't need to be told when to applaud. I
- 55:50Speaker 2: don't need to be told when to get loud. And again,
- 55:55Speaker 2: I don't want bird calls. And that's all I get.
- 56:00Speaker 2: Bird calls when I'm watching golf, it's all I get. Okay,
- 56:05Speaker 2: I got that off my chest. Thanks to Dan Patrick
- 56:08Speaker 2: for bringing the subject up. Marvel Craft, locally owned, locally operated.
- 56:12Speaker 2: Joe Orsak and his staff have been doing this over
- 56:15Speaker 2: a quarter a century now. Stop by their showroom at

- 56:23Speaker 2: they do with granted countertops, courts, redoing kitchen baths, remodeling construction.
