[UNKNOWN]: with great responsibility comes great delay in editing.
• 0:04
[UNKNOWN]: So this is a message from your editor from the future just letting you know this episode was recorded at the beginning of this week.
• 0:12
[UNKNOWN]: So you will hear us talk about D23 in the upcoming announcements as if they are in the future.
• 0:18
[UNKNOWN]: But by the time you're listening to this episode, that's already happened.
• 0:22
[UNKNOWN]: So, if you are interested in a recap of the biggest, most important Marvel announcements from D23 and mine and Jones reaction to them, then stick around until after the outro music for that.
• 0:36
[UNKNOWN]: Alright, now let's jump back into the past to hear what Jones and I think about this new Spider-Man movie.
• 1:11
[UNKNOWN]: Welcome to Comics Versus, a Lorhoun's podcast to your guides to psychic mind-hoping logistics.
• 1:17
[UNKNOWN]: I'm Alicia taking a break from my new job as a PR manager of one wayward young red-headed mutant.
• 1:24
  [UNKNOWN]: And I'm John.
• 1:25
[UNKNOWN]: Someone who fully believes that anyone can put on the mask and be Spider-Man.
• 1:30
[UNKNOWN]: So, Kevin Feige, cast a live action Miles Morales already.
• 1:36
  [UNKNOWN]: She's come on.
• 1:38
[UNKNOWN]: I mean, he'd said that after a beyond the spiderverse, right?
• 1:44
  [UNKNOWN]: Potato potato?
• 1:45
  [UNKNOWN]: Potato?
• 1:45
  [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I mean.
• 1:46
  [UNKNOWN]: Potato stuff.
• 1:47
[UNKNOWN]: I'm talking small potatoes stuff.
• 1:50
[UNKNOWN]: You talking big, big potatoes stuff.
• 1:52
  [UNKNOWN]: Potato stuff.
• 1:54
[UNKNOWN]: I think also something like this like he needs more than just a new black panther to come back from this this whole Wonder Man hit and the implications thereof and the blade and we talked about it well deserve the implications by the way.
• 2:08
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah check out our the first half hour of our supergirl episode is actually talking about it's talking about Marvel and B.C.
• 2:17
  [UNKNOWN]: News so.
• 2:18
[UNKNOWN]: And we'll probably get back to it once we, you know, do our prep for doomsday.
• 2:22
[UNKNOWN]: So, this is not going away for you, it's not going away.
• 2:28
[UNKNOWN]: So with today, we'll start with our spoiler free fresh takes of Spider-Man brand new day.
• 2:36
[UNKNOWN]: But we will then proceed to fool on spoilers from the movie, comic books.
• 2:40
[UNKNOWN]: MCU and TV shows as well, basically everything can be discussed.
• 2:44
[UNKNOWN]: One exception I'm putting down is that we will avoid spoilers for the current season of X-Men 97 for now.
• 2:51
[UNKNOWN]: Do watch this channel for our breakdown of that season that we'll be coming.
• 2:56
[UNKNOWN]: We're talking about, it'll come out about two weeks after it wraps up this Wednesday.
• 3:01
[UNKNOWN]: I think it's going to wrap up like a day or so after this comes out.
• 3:05
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, um, and then yeah, stick around until the end of this episode for a section at the end for some more direct comics comparisons put together by Jean.
• 3:14
[UNKNOWN]: Jean, thank you so much for putting together the notes today.
• 3:17
  [UNKNOWN]: Oh, yeah.
• 3:17
[UNKNOWN]: Thank you for giving me the opportunity to flex my typing muscle.
• 3:22
[UNKNOWN]: I don't think thank you for flexing your brain muscles with you.
• 3:27
[UNKNOWN]: Do you want to take us away, set us up?
• 3:30
  [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, sure.
• 3:30
[UNKNOWN]: So this is the fourth MCU Spider-Man movie.
• 3:35
[UNKNOWN]: between the Disney and Fox collaboration, I'm thinkin' this.
• 3:40
[UNKNOWN]: This is seven to the same world as the Thunderbolt movies, the Daredevil, Disney Plus show, and all the previous MCU offerings.
• 3:49
[UNKNOWN]: So everything, Avengers, Daredevil, anything, MCU related, this is seven to the same universe.
• 3:58
[UNKNOWN]: Our director is one of our phase, Alicia.
• 4:01
[UNKNOWN]: Justin Daniel Cretan, who directed one of our faves, Eliseo, who directed actually, yeah, two of us raised Eliseo, Junxi in the legend of the Ten Rings was a movie that he directed, as well as this year's number one show according to me, one demand on Disney Plus.
• 4:24
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, he was one of the creators and and showrunner Andrew guest made clear.
• 4:30
[UNKNOWN]: Dustin Daniel Cretan's schedule is not the problem in that cancellation.
• 4:34
  [UNKNOWN]: Yes, he did.
• 4:35
[UNKNOWN]: Just putting that up there again.
• 4:37
[UNKNOWN]: Um, the writers for the brand new day movie were Chris McKenna and Eric Sommers, McKenna Sommers, what are writers on the three previous MCU Spider-Man films.
• 4:50
[UNKNOWN]: And this movie is not a direct adaptation of any Spidey comics from way back when.
• 4:58
[UNKNOWN]: So there is a Spidey comic brand new day, but this is not a adaptation of that comic book.
• 5:05
[UNKNOWN]: Um, this was the budget an estimated 225 million.
• 5:12
[UNKNOWN]: That's a lot, but yeah, and the total box office, um, so so far, there's over a billion in this first week.
• 5:22
[UNKNOWN]: So I guess it made the 225 back.
• 5:25
[UNKNOWN]: So I clipped a short blurb from a variety article about box office that came out on August 9th, yesterday's we're recording, and it says after opening to a record setting 355 million domestically, that's a crazy opening weekend for Justin the U.S. and a heroic 932 million globally.
• 5:47
[UNKNOWN]: Spider-Man, brand new day, has now generated a staggering 655 million in North America and 1.67 billion globally.
• 5:57
[UNKNOWN]: And this is, again, this is less than two weeks.
• 6:00
[UNKNOWN]: It flew past the billion dollar mark in just six days and is barreling toward 2 billion.
• 6:05
[UNKNOWN]: at this pace box office watchers are wondering whether Spidey has the staying power to become the first movie to ever reach one billion at the domestic box office and become the soul film to hit three billion globally.
• 6:17
  [UNKNOWN]: Maybe we'll see.
• 6:18
[UNKNOWN]: So that's that's the the moving goal.
• 6:22
  [UNKNOWN]: That's not a staggering.
• 6:23
  [UNKNOWN]: That is staggering.
• 6:23
  [UNKNOWN]: That is staggering.
• 6:25
[UNKNOWN]: We'll see if it reaches that.
• 6:26
[UNKNOWN]: But that's what that's now what people are waiting to be impressed by.
• 6:30
  [UNKNOWN]: Oh, boy.
• 6:31
  [UNKNOWN]: Wow.
• 6:32
[UNKNOWN]: Those numbers are just, you know, my gosh.
• 6:35
  [UNKNOWN]: Spectacular.
• 6:36
  [UNKNOWN]: Amazing.
• 6:39
[UNKNOWN]: So this was filmed primarily in Scotland with Glasgow.
• 6:43
  [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, again.
• 6:45
  [UNKNOWN]: Like supergirl.
• 6:46
[UNKNOWN]: Glasgow playing the stand-in for Mondani sorry not Mondani stand-in mean to say New York City.
• 6:55
[UNKNOWN]: So, Glasgow thank you for representing the NY in the way that you did in this film because it came out really well.
• 7:11
[UNKNOWN]: Metacritics, the critics are at 66.
• 7:15
[UNKNOWN]: We're 71% given it positive review.
• 7:19
[UNKNOWN]: I can't believe Metacritic is so low.
• 7:21
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I was shocked by that when I saw it as well.
• 7:26
[UNKNOWN]: But the users gave it an 8.0 and 85% positive reviews.
• 7:33
[UNKNOWN]: The letterbox scores was a 4.1 which is remarkable.
• 7:39
  [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, for letterbox.
• 7:40
[UNKNOWN]: Somebody said this is not like it.
• 7:42
  [UNKNOWN]: No, no, no.
• 7:43
  [UNKNOWN]: It was a letterbox.
• 7:45
  [UNKNOWN]: I wrote it.
• 7:46
[UNKNOWN]: Come at me on letterbox.
• 7:48
  [UNKNOWN]: I'm one of you.
• 7:50
[UNKNOWN]: but it is like, you know, superhero movies aren't necessarily, of course, there's a lot of us who love these movies on there, but definitely it is a place that, you know, people flock to who are really into a wide variety of films and may turn their noses up at superhero movies, but even with some
• 8:19
[UNKNOWN]: Really enjoying this you know as they should We have a runtime of two hours and 25 minutes.
• 8:27
[UNKNOWN]: Did you feel it flew by?
• 8:28
[UNKNOWN]: They didn't feel that way.
• 8:30
[UNKNOWN]: No, it's a little bit for me.
• 8:32
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, and I'm a peculiar rating What do you think
• 8:38
  [UNKNOWN]: Um, I see.
• 8:39
[UNKNOWN]: I had it at a one.
• 8:40
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I see you put a one and I, um, I can't disagree with that.
• 8:44
[UNKNOWN]: I would definitely, I would heartily recommend this one to Marilyn for the same reason that I would recommend that I did recommend Thunderbolts to her.
• 8:52
[UNKNOWN]: I don't think she's gotten a chance to watch it.
• 8:54
  [UNKNOWN]: I don't know.
• 8:54
[UNKNOWN]: But it because it is, it's also, it makes me think of Riley who, um, anyone who doesn't know did the 28 years later podcast with us?
• 9:04
  [UNKNOWN]: Yes.
• 9:04
  [UNKNOWN]: Yes.
• 9:05
[UNKNOWN]: third one probably going into production beginning of 2020, seven, just saying anyway.
• 9:09
[UNKNOWN]: Um, but yeah, Riley was saying, um, also drawing comparisons between this and Thunderbolts.
• 9:14
[UNKNOWN]: And I felt that a lot while I was watching it, that there's similarities in it in that they're telling, compelling stories by putting the characters first and focusing on like the mental health of you know, these crazy worlds and superheroes.
• 9:31
[UNKNOWN]: And yeah, we'll talk about a particular,
• 9:33
[UNKNOWN]: speech in this that made me quiet.
• 9:36
[UNKNOWN]: Okay so let's get into our spoiler free fresh takes really quickly.
• 9:43
  [UNKNOWN]: Tell me yours.
• 9:46
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah I really liked it obviously.
• 9:49
[UNKNOWN]: I was just we were just talking off air about I did a double feature with the Odyssey and I watched this one first and it was such like the cinematic ride that I really
• 10:03
[UNKNOWN]: tharses and like the feeling and you know the joy and the tears and then when I went to the Odyssey, that was one that took more intellectual appreciation after the fact rather than joy while watching and as in the case of this one.
• 10:19
  [UNKNOWN]: So
• 10:20
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I just, I haven't been able to get to the movie theater recently as much as I would like as much as, you know, to justify my unlimited past.
• 10:31
[UNKNOWN]: And on this outing, like, I would say of those two biggest movies right now, this is the one that actually really delivered what I was looking for when I really needed.
• 10:49
[UNKNOWN]: It's my favorite MCU Spider-Man movie.
• 10:52
[UNKNOWN]: If will people be upset with me, if I call it my, I have a resenci bias problem.
• 11:00
[UNKNOWN]: So, it's between this and the first Toby movie from my favorite Spider-Man movie ever.
• 11:07
  [UNKNOWN]: But about you.
• 11:09
[UNKNOWN]: All right, so hands down, this is the best, my favorite, and I think the best MCU Spidey movie.
• 11:18
[UNKNOWN]: It made me believe in the character's ability to be significant in this next phase of the MCU.
• 11:25
[UNKNOWN]: If they choose to go that route, I didn't really think this Spider-Man, as we've just seen, can be a linchpin for whatever phase comes next, whether they tell them no meat and story, whatever,
• 11:41
[UNKNOWN]: Spider-Man can be a linchpin to all of it.
• 11:43
[UNKNOWN]: And I think I did not go into this movie believing or even thinking that I would want such a thing.
• 11:51
[UNKNOWN]: So hands down the best MCU Spider-Man movie.
• 11:56
[UNKNOWN]: This is the best Spider-Man movie that we've got.
• 11:59
  [UNKNOWN]: Also compared to...
• 12:01
[UNKNOWN]: Compared to Toby, compared to... And your girlfriend?
• 12:04
[UNKNOWN]: This is the best Spider-Man movie.
• 12:06
  [UNKNOWN]: Okay.
• 12:09
[UNKNOWN]: I think the action sequences were amazing, wanted to be taken care of, shout out to my, my boy Mike, we're talking about it on the block yesterday, and just, there's this one sequence where we both agree like it has to be top five and MCU cinematic history.
• 12:30
[UNKNOWN]: Can I get a hint, Richard is in involves two other characters.
• 12:36
[UNKNOWN]: Okay, all right, you have to shut down when we go through this.
• 12:39
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, we're excited definitely.
• 12:42
[UNKNOWN]: And I also agree with you with the emotional beats that they made in the issues that they're showing and trying to tackle with this movie.
• 12:51
[UNKNOWN]: in how they approach thunderbolt and also how they approach one demand.
• 12:56
[UNKNOWN]: You can see that these three movies are doing things and asking questions of their characters and also asking questions of us, the audience as to what it means, what is the toll that it takes to have these extraordinary
• 13:20
  [UNKNOWN]: as a human being.
• 13:21
[UNKNOWN]: And I think Spidey, Thunderbolts, Wonderman, in their own ways, because they didn't come at it, talking about the same issues, they all show different aspects of how people are trying to cope.
• 13:37
[UNKNOWN]: And I think that is a great achievement that the MCU has done for superhero storytelling, quite frankly.
• 13:50
  [UNKNOWN]: Mm-hmm.
• 13:51
[UNKNOWN]: I want more of it.
• 13:52
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I mean, it makes me glad that Drake, it makes me glad that Jake Shrier, the director of Thunderbolt is going to also be doing the X-Men movie.
• 14:04
  [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, yeah.
• 14:06
[UNKNOWN]: And I thought the supporting characters were handled really well.
• 14:11
[UNKNOWN]: And they didn't overtake the narrative.
• 14:15
  [UNKNOWN]: They were supporting characters.
• 14:16
[UNKNOWN]: You know what I mean?
• 14:19
[UNKNOWN]: It wasn't just strictly, it wasn't fan service, it wasn't just like, here's the shiny person that you, I know you wanna see and blah, blah, blah.
• 14:29
[UNKNOWN]: They really supported Spider-Man, Peter Parker in this film, and I thought that was admirable as well.
• 14:37
  [UNKNOWN]: Mm-hmm.
• 14:41
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I mean, it was, okay, to whom would you recommend this?
• 14:46
  [UNKNOWN]: To whom?
• 14:47
[UNKNOWN]: Is there anyone, okay, let me rephrase.
• 14:49
[UNKNOWN]: Is there anyone to whom you wouldn't necessarily recommend this?
• 14:53
[UNKNOWN]: Because like, I'm thinking about it.
• 14:54
[UNKNOWN]: I'm like, would I recommend it to my parents?
• 14:56
[UNKNOWN]: Yes, would I recommend it to my sister, obviously?
• 15:00
[UNKNOWN]: Would I, you know, recommend it to my neighbor?
• 15:04
  [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, why not?
• 15:08
[UNKNOWN]: What I recommend to my cats.
• 15:09
[UNKNOWN]: Yes, there's swinging and threads.
• 15:15
[UNKNOWN]: I think I agree with you.
• 15:16
[UNKNOWN]: I don't think there's anyone that I would not recommend this film to.
• 15:21
[UNKNOWN]: I think you would you would find something in it for you to latch on to whether you like superhero movies or not, whether you like action movies or not, whether you know, you like fantastical things or not.
• 15:35
  [UNKNOWN]: I think.
• 15:36
[UNKNOWN]: There is something for everyone here.
• 15:39
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I would say in terms of whether you like superhero movies or not, I would say this is a great one to understand why people do love superhero movies, those of us who do, because it's not, you know, I do love certain things that are technically superhero movies, but are actually something different, like, you know, you know, I like the horror tinted stuff like where we'll buy night or the upcoming clay face or something, but these are not.
• 16:07
[UNKNOWN]: typical superhero movies, whereas this is a typical superhero movie.
• 16:12
[UNKNOWN]: It has all of the superhero hallmarks, but doing it at a top level.
• 16:19
  [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
• 16:20
  [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
• 16:21
  [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
• 16:22
  [UNKNOWN]: I agree.
• 16:22
  [UNKNOWN]: I agree.
• 16:23
[UNKNOWN]: All right, so anything else you want to add?
• 16:27
[UNKNOWN]: Um, I don't know, what was your theater experience like?
• 16:30
  [UNKNOWN]: Oh, my gosh.
• 16:37
[UNKNOWN]: Anybody who's listening, let me tell you how proud of a pop-up I am for my 10-year-old.
• 16:46
[UNKNOWN]: So there's a particular part in the film, The Theater is packed by the way.
• 16:51
[UNKNOWN]: There were maybe six under 12-year-old children there.
• 16:58
[UNKNOWN]: Everybody else was a Delta teens, right?
• 17:06
[UNKNOWN]: clums into my chest, and absolutely starts balling.
• 17:10
[UNKNOWN]: I mean, he is crying.
• 17:13
[UNKNOWN]: He's like, no, this can't, he's happening.
• 17:16
[UNKNOWN]: And just tears, and they, big, audible cries.
• 17:26
[UNKNOWN]: And a minute passed, and he's crying, and we're watching them, and trying to console them, I'm like, just look at, look on the screen,
• 17:34
[UNKNOWN]: Take a look, see what's happening.
• 17:36
[UNKNOWN]: And then all I hear, someone go, Spidey, and it's as if my 10-year-old gave this room full of teenagers and adults licensed to let their emotions go.
• 17:53
[UNKNOWN]: And nearly half of the theater was in tears.
• 18:00
[UNKNOWN]: So I really feel like this little boy is 10 year old tears, gave people permission to cry.
• 18:09
[UNKNOWN]: And I felt so amazed by that.
• 18:12
[UNKNOWN]: That he felt so comfortable to just be able to do that.
• 18:17
[UNKNOWN]: Just not holding in, not being brave or all the bullshit that we say to people and just sitting in an cry for that moment that he felt.
• 18:28
[UNKNOWN]: the sadness that he was feeling, watching this film and if a film can do that, I mean, come on man.
• 18:37
[UNKNOWN]: So, me, let's just say my theater going experience was amazing.
• 18:42
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, mine was normally this I would see this movie opening night and I actually I had booked a ticket to see it in Dolby, which yeah, there's there's an I max and I'm so damn, but it's like a whole expensive time consuming thing.
• 18:56
[UNKNOWN]: So yeah, it's going to go be then just work stuff.
• 19:00
[UNKNOWN]: It's just been work stuff lately.
• 19:02
[UNKNOWN]: So I ended up not seeing it until the second weekend, which is one reason why we're doing it in this now.
• 19:10
[UNKNOWN]: And so in then I ended up having to go in during the afternoon and booking a smaller theater just because that's when the timing lined up.
• 19:20
[UNKNOWN]: So it wasn't like what I expected but still I just noticed as I was rescheduling.
• 19:27
[UNKNOWN]: I noticed how sold out everything was for both this and the Odyssey, so it's great for theaters.
• 19:34
[UNKNOWN]: I know this has been great box office-wise, both of those films in terms of just giving theaters a boost, even though
• 19:43
[UNKNOWN]: numbers may be down prices are up unfortunately but just seeing people get excited that they have to go and see these movies and to the theater was still packed even though I went on this random weekday afternoon but I had the opposite experience where well I had just sit in the second row because it was so packed.
• 20:04
[UNKNOWN]: And from just looking around me, I felt like I was the only real adult there, like luckily the people on the side of me were like maybe 20, so.
• 20:14
[UNKNOWN]: But then the front row was all a bunch of young kids.
• 20:19
[UNKNOWN]: And they were so enthralled the entire time.
• 20:22
[UNKNOWN]: Like yeah, when this thing, the scene that made me cry, which I think is a different scene than the one that made your song cry.
• 20:28
  [UNKNOWN]: Okay.
• 20:30
[UNKNOWN]: by crying scene came on.
• 20:31
[UNKNOWN]: I also heard the people next to me going.
• 20:34
[UNKNOWN]: But the kids were like, I don't think the kids responded to that.
• 20:38
  [UNKNOWN]: It's too mature.
• 20:39
[UNKNOWN]: But they, yeah, we're responding to everything else.
• 20:42
[UNKNOWN]: They were so into it.
• 20:44
[UNKNOWN]: And then at the end, someone had clearly told them, you have to stick around until
• 20:49
[UNKNOWN]: the end of the credits for another scene and they were like and so they were they were doing that and happily doing that But then you know, they get bored.
• 20:56
[UNKNOWN]: They're like doing things at the flashlight and the feet against the screen One's just doing forward roles all over the universe.
• 21:01
  [UNKNOWN]: The theater.
• 21:02
[UNKNOWN]: I'm like, oh, I don't know about those floors dude But then at the end of it I just as a scene was coming on the one kid stood up and turned around and looks back at the theater He's like all these people stayed for the scene
• 21:17
[UNKNOWN]: Welcome to the world of Superhero movies.
• 21:22
[UNKNOWN]: Oh, that one should get to see it started.
• 21:25
  [UNKNOWN]: That's funny.
• 21:27
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, so it was, it was a different experience than I would normally have with this kind of movie and I was worried like, oh, I'm missing out on having, you know, the biggest fans and opening nights and all that stuff, but actually it was still, sometimes it's nice to see a film like this with a crowd that's maybe not as invented, yes, yeah, and still and see how they still respond to this, how they're still sucked into this and yeah.
• 21:58
[UNKNOWN]: Alright, so shall we take a break before we get into the spawner section or break down?
• 22:04
[UNKNOWN]: Alright, we'll be right back with spoilers.
• 22:26
  [UNKNOWN]: Okay, and we're back.
• 22:27
[UNKNOWN]: Be warned, this is full spoiler territory.
• 22:31
[UNKNOWN]: We're gonna be talking about the film, and anything else that can come up that can help us make sense of the film and what we saw, we'll be talking about, except as Alicia pointed out, X-Men 97.
• 22:44
  [UNKNOWN]: Um, seconds into it.
• 22:46
  [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
• 22:47
[UNKNOWN]: Okay, so here we go.
• 22:50
[UNKNOWN]: Peter Parker is a known and that is a terrible thing for him and Spider-Man.
• 22:55
[UNKNOWN]: The movie starts, we find Peter with Dr. Stranger's spell, has made everyone forget who he is.
• 23:03
[UNKNOWN]: Peter Parker does not exist at all, but thankfully for New York City, Spider-Man is still here, Redqualing and slinging around in order to save the city from all manner of criminals.
• 23:16
[UNKNOWN]: He stops the hand, bulls eye, tombstone, scorpion, and the city loves Spider-Man, even
• 23:25
  [UNKNOWN]: But who loves Peter?
• 23:26
  [UNKNOWN]: Hmm.
• 23:28
[UNKNOWN]: So, what did you think about the opening setup?
• 23:33
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I mean, the intro montages already get you a little emotional when you see like Peter disappearing from all these scenes with him and Ned and MJ.
• 23:45
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, and that's that's a theme that goes throughout.
• 23:50
[UNKNOWN]: Like it really made my heart hurt sometimes at certain points.
• 23:53
[UNKNOWN]: Oh, yeah, we're past boilers.
• 23:54
[UNKNOWN]: I can say specific things, but like.
• 23:58
[UNKNOWN]: You know, we'll talk about the scene more later, but when MJ is just like, I just don't remember you, I'm just not that person.
• 24:06
[UNKNOWN]: I've seen a lot of people pointing out the Gomorrah parallel with the other Peter Quill.
• 24:13
  [UNKNOWN]: Yes.
• 24:15
[UNKNOWN]: John's favorite character in the world.
• 24:16
[UNKNOWN]: I didn't think about him that one minute of this film.
• 24:20
[UNKNOWN]: You refuse to remember he exists until forced.
• 24:24
  [UNKNOWN]: Yes.
• 24:26
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, it was really, there's that emotional back bone of just this guy who's trying to help people, but he's so low and except for, well, yeah, we had a new character who comes from the comic books, yes, you can talk more about her.
• 24:55
[UNKNOWN]: her name is Jean, and my name is Jean.
• 24:58
[UNKNOWN]: No, but I mean, it's not Jean and Greg.
• 25:00
  [UNKNOWN]: I know, yeah.
• 25:01
[UNKNOWN]: Because there was something someone was getting.
• 25:03
[UNKNOWN]: I forgot who it was.
• 25:04
[UNKNOWN]: Someone was getting called out for a spoiler saying he liked the character Jean, but he could have actually been talking about the wolf then.
• 25:10
  [UNKNOWN]: Oh, yeah.
• 25:11
  [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
• 25:12
[UNKNOWN]: Heather, the hot first name is Jean, do we even hear hot first name in the uh I don't I guess it didn't like strike me like I took me the longest time because I didn't know the comic characters It took me the longest time to realize that I was like who's the wolf who's the wolf?
• 25:30
[UNKNOWN]: Oh, it's her, that's her last name I get in now.
• 25:32
  [UNKNOWN]: Gosh.
• 25:34
[UNKNOWN]: So the tech that the wolf, let's keep it, is so cool.
• 25:37
[UNKNOWN]: His peel is only friendly seems.
• 25:42
[UNKNOWN]: Well, he doesn't talk to anybody else.
• 25:45
  [UNKNOWN]: And, um,
• 25:46
[UNKNOWN]: It's a nice way to show that he's working with the police, I guess, in some capacity, that he's not totally out there just doing this thing by himself that he has some sort of support system, even though he's not using it to this full capability, but someone is there who he at least can bounce ideas off about this superhero stuff.
• 26:14
[UNKNOWN]: I am very happy that they reimagine this character from what she was in the comic books because
• 26:25
[UNKNOWN]: Not she, however, like she was in love with Spider-Man, what she would take pictures of him and she was in an abusive relationship with her father who was a cop, her partner, love interest in the comics was also abusive, he becomes
• 26:44
[UNKNOWN]: He becomes a villain, called Sim Eater, who eventually murders her and Peter finds, goes to her apartment and finds, you know, all these pictures and this show of love for him that he didn't
• 27:09
[UNKNOWN]: although she had a longer history in the comics, but to me, it's still fringing.
• 27:15
[UNKNOWN]: And basically he goes to try and, you know, sinning to exact vengeance and his stop from doing from killing him by Daredevil, you know, basically.
• 27:27
[UNKNOWN]: You're better than that, you don't do this, you know, type of bullshit.
• 27:32
  [UNKNOWN]: So yeah, very happy.
• 27:34
[UNKNOWN]: That's not the detective to the wolf that we got on screen.
• 27:39
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, there's more of a motherly vibe of anything.
• 27:41
  [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, definitely.
• 27:42
  [UNKNOWN]: But friends, definitely, too.
• 27:44
[UNKNOWN]: There was cute with the whole thing with Rishi's like, where are my kids' names?
• 27:47
[UNKNOWN]: And he's like, well, one is, when the one is Poppy, because she just called him like, don't do that puppy or whatever she said.
• 27:54
[UNKNOWN]: But then at the end, he comes back and he says, tell them, and I'm sorry, I forget their names on the top of my head, but he's like, says them by name, tell them I said hello.
• 28:04
  [UNKNOWN]: Yes, yes.
• 28:05
[UNKNOWN]: Can you imagine, like, your son, if you were calling on the phone with Spider-Man all the time, how chill would he be?
• 28:11
  [UNKNOWN]: They were very chill.
• 28:13
[UNKNOWN]: They were, like, excited, but he would not be chill at all.
• 28:17
[UNKNOWN]: At all, this is the, like, get about it.
• 28:24
  [UNKNOWN]: Um, yeah.
• 28:26
[UNKNOWN]: So again, I thought this was a great setup to open the film with, you know, like as you pointed out the montage of people forgetting him.
• 28:37
[UNKNOWN]: And just hand, you really felt like he was alone, you know, from the very beginning.
• 28:45
[UNKNOWN]: And I will say one thing that I did
• 28:55
[UNKNOWN]: So there's a lot of, there's quite a few, you know, visuals that they took directly from the comic book actually, from the, um, excuse me, they took from the view game and the comic books too, yeah.
• 29:07
[UNKNOWN]: So that was really, that was really something like the whole bit with the phone, the tracker, all of that stuff is from the video game.
• 29:24
[UNKNOWN]: I do what I and I know like people say that Spider-Man 2 game especially is like one of the best ever with a swimming mechanics and everything Yes, I still haven't played it, but it's oh my I still like I have played it at least and I don't have a place they
• 29:40
[UNKNOWN]: But I have this like I tend to toward these, you know, RPGs that take a million hours and stuff and I still have my backlog of those that I'm working and that's why I am a PlayStation person because the best platform or it was at least for those.
• 29:55
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, that's a blind spot.
• 29:58
[UNKNOWN]: So it's good to know, it was, because I know also you can see online, there's all these comparisons of where they exactly recreated these shots, these famous images from comic books.
• 30:10
[UNKNOWN]: And I know, Dustin Daniel Kretten was complimenting Tom Holland's control of his body to do these, you know, Archie's back a certain way blah blah blah to mimic these shots within a split segment.
• 30:25
[UNKNOWN]: I guess the ballet pays off.
• 30:27
  [UNKNOWN]: That's true.
• 30:29
  [UNKNOWN]: That's true.
• 30:30
  [UNKNOWN]: Quick question.
• 30:32
[UNKNOWN]: How do you think Peter can afford everything that we see that he has?
• 30:37
[UNKNOWN]: They don't have a job, man.
• 30:38
[UNKNOWN]: It's like Tommy from Martin.
• 30:41
[UNKNOWN]: People got a job, man.
• 30:43
  [UNKNOWN]: You can know this.
• 30:45
  [UNKNOWN]: It's going on.
• 30:46
[UNKNOWN]: I've been talking about this with some people.
• 30:48
[UNKNOWN]: And here's one theory that he still has some stark money left over.
• 30:54
[UNKNOWN]: Okay, that could be that could be.
• 30:56
[UNKNOWN]: And maybe also his AI EV, who was voiced by Naomi Watts by the way, I didn't realize until after the film.
• 31:03
  [UNKNOWN]: I didn't realize that.
• 31:05
[UNKNOWN]: And apparently, she also played his first on-screen mother, so this is like a nice callback, but anyway, but so I was wondering, like, is that partially at least based on Tony Stark AI, probably, but...
• 31:19
[UNKNOWN]: My other thought was, is he, you know, Peter Parker famously becomes a photographer and then takes and sells pictures of himself as Spider-Man saying like, I happen to know Spider-Man here by some pictures of what if he's doing the modern version of that, where he's selling, you know, videos of himself and that's how they have videos online.
• 31:43
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I said all of it.
• 31:46
[UNKNOWN]: And all those explanations are good for me.
• 31:48
[UNKNOWN]: I had a conversation with a friend, another friend who said, how does quite upset that Peter had all this stuff with no money?
• 31:59
[UNKNOWN]: And I'm just like, yo, if that's what you've said about, bro, just like, you know, reevaluate, take a step back.
• 32:07
[UNKNOWN]: How did you afford the new Samsung Flip phone?
• 32:10
  [UNKNOWN]: Exactly.
• 32:10
[UNKNOWN]: We take a step back.
• 32:11
  [UNKNOWN]: Just a little bit.
• 32:14
[UNKNOWN]: So, but I accept all those explanations that you just gave to me totally cool.
• 32:19
  [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
• 32:20
[UNKNOWN]: We saw a mere Sheila from Daredevil.
• 32:24
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I thought she would be in it more.
• 32:28
  [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
• 32:29
  [UNKNOWN]: What's the reason?
• 32:30
[UNKNOWN]: But what do we think about the fact?
• 32:31
[UNKNOWN]: So she was giving the key to Spider-Man.
• 32:34
[UNKNOWN]: And that's exactly like basically that's all we got as a clip we saw on the trailer or giving the key to Spider-Man.
• 32:39
[UNKNOWN]: So it seems she's like mayor of the city, which we thought, OK, after the end of Daredevil born again season two, fine, that makes sense.
• 32:47
[UNKNOWN]: But yeah, that seems like
• 32:50
[UNKNOWN]: an abrupt about I hope Daredevil season three talks about what happened to this anti-vigilante task force initiative obviously it's been disbanded and they seem to have gone the other way because they're now giving keys to the city to vigilantes and like big ceremonies.
• 33:06
[UNKNOWN]: I mean you got to ride the wave do you remember the end of their travel?
• 33:14
[UNKNOWN]: Season season two we're with fish
• 33:18
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I mean, yeah, I mean, I think I think that it's a good sense, no, yeah.
• 33:25
[UNKNOWN]: You got to ride the wave where the sentiment is and after that image of this just killing people.
• 33:31
  [UNKNOWN]: Mm-hmm.
• 33:32
[UNKNOWN]: I think they just had to say, doing about face.
• 33:38
[UNKNOWN]: and to try to get public sentiment back on their side.
• 33:42
[UNKNOWN]: So I'm about the politicians.
• 33:44
[UNKNOWN]: So it wasn't surprising to see that to me, given how their devil season of their devil ended.
• 33:53
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, and obviously one of the quote unquote cuddlyist superheroes in New York, I don't see them giving the key to the city to Frank Castle, for example.
• 34:02
  [UNKNOWN]: Right, right.
• 34:03
[UNKNOWN]: Love, Frank, and then we get the key to say.
• 34:06
  [UNKNOWN]: Hahaha.
• 34:08
[UNKNOWN]: a key to the word on it either okay give him a key to the murder in parent.
• 34:16
[UNKNOWN]: Oh my gosh, right now again the key to the city.
• 34:20
[UNKNOWN]: Oh, no, no, all right, so let's move on, yeah.
• 34:25
[UNKNOWN]: So we have Spidey stops a rampaging tank with help from Frank asshole.
• 34:32
  [UNKNOWN]: Let's frankly, really helpful.
• 34:33
[UNKNOWN]: I'll just say I'm just doing it out there,
• 34:36
[UNKNOWN]: And out of control tank is making his way towards the Department of Damage Controls New York City headquarters.
• 34:43
[UNKNOWN]: Frank tries to stop it in his way, but Spidey isn't having it.
• 34:47
[UNKNOWN]: Not can Frank out of the chase with the webs on his patty mouth.
• 34:52
[UNKNOWN]: Spidey catches the tank after he crashes.
• 34:54
  [UNKNOWN]: PG13.
• 34:54
  [UNKNOWN]: Sorry.
• 34:57
[UNKNOWN]: after crashes into the DODC, building and finds that woman at the wheel who immediately becomes confused as to where she is.
• 35:07
[UNKNOWN]: Spidey realizes that something is moving from person to person gives chase and finally catches up on a roof when it's apparent that whatever is doing this is trying to free Scorpion Mark Gargen, who is in a helicopter.
• 35:19
[UNKNOWN]: It speaks to Spidey via a guard, but finds out that Spider-Man's mind can't be broken
• 35:26
[UNKNOWN]: So why do you think that is?
• 35:28
[UNKNOWN]: Why do you think, um, he, his mind blocks that, is it Spidey sense related?
• 35:34
[UNKNOWN]: Like, I had two things.
• 35:37
[UNKNOWN]: I thought it was maybe the, uh, the Spidey sense, his, his own mutation from, you know, the Spider-Man fight, from the Spider-Man fight.
• 35:49
[UNKNOWN]: Then I also thought maybe it was Dr. Stranger Spell.
• 35:54
  [UNKNOWN]: Hmm.
• 35:55
[UNKNOWN]: casting some sort of block for anyone to try to see Peter Parker, who was around during the time of the spell.
• 36:09
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, that's what I thought there was also that thing where at one point Dr.
• 36:14
[UNKNOWN]: Strange was trying to like take something he pushed like Astral pushed Peter out of his body Yeah, try to take something from him and meet the arm of the body was moving on its own.
• 36:24
[UNKNOWN]: He's like that shouldn't be a That shouldn't be happening right so maybe it's something you unique to the spider bite But they haven't explained it.
• 36:33
[UNKNOWN]: I don't think I found an explanation to spider man being
• 36:38
[UNKNOWN]: unable to be controlled telepathically.
• 36:41
[UNKNOWN]: Hopefully, they'll do it again to it more, assuming there will be more telepathic storytelling.
• 36:47
[UNKNOWN]: I have to give a shout out to the many extras or day players who played the inhabited is what they called them, the people who, you know, basically, we can say now it's Jean Grey, the Jean Grey was jumping between them, and they had to do, first of all, this almost like sort of dance movement.
• 37:04
[UNKNOWN]: It was amazing, it was amazing.
• 37:06
[UNKNOWN]: It was like a choreograph dance so we could just follow where the jumps were happening to in the bodies with like jerk smoothly forward and then, you know, as the spirit leaped from one to the next.
• 37:18
[UNKNOWN]: Um, yeah, it was, and then just, um, all the looks like, she loved how she was kind of taunting him.
• 37:26
[UNKNOWN]: And because it turns out she wanted him to follow her, um, but, yeah, just having like these random people look back.
• 37:33
[UNKNOWN]: That was, that must have been, that was cool.
• 37:36
[UNKNOWN]: That was cool, so what do you think of the deal, D.C. We first saw them, we saw them where, what do we first see them in?
• 37:45
  [UNKNOWN]: Miss Marvel?
• 37:46
  [UNKNOWN]: I guess so.
• 37:47
  [UNKNOWN]: Miss Marvel?
• 37:48
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, definitely there and then Wonderman.
• 37:51
  [UNKNOWN]: So yeah, I forgot.
• 37:52
[UNKNOWN]: I was like, why wasn't Agent Cleary in this movie, but then I'm like, of course, he was moved to LA.
• 37:57
  [UNKNOWN]: Right.
• 37:57
[UNKNOWN]: That's why he's in Wonderman earlier.
• 37:59
  [UNKNOWN]: Right.
• 37:59
  [UNKNOWN]: It's okay.
• 38:00
  [UNKNOWN]: He's in LA now.
• 38:01
[UNKNOWN]: But it's like, obviously, we've seen nothing good from them.
• 38:07
[UNKNOWN]: So, of course, immediately, I'm like, Peter, don't trust these people, and then, then that we see that he's quote unquote tamed the hand, I'm like, oh, okay, that's going to go well ultimately, I'm sure.
• 38:23
[UNKNOWN]: And then it's like, okay, we are trying to copy the tech of the various villains that we arrest.
• 38:29
[UNKNOWN]: And on the one hand, like, it makes a certain kind of sense that you would want to do that.
• 38:33
[UNKNOWN]: Why wouldn't you want to learn from your enemies, so to speak?
• 38:37
[UNKNOWN]: But on the other hand, as soon as they scanned Peter's body, I was like, uh, oh, I don't know.
• 38:44
[UNKNOWN]: I don't think I like whatever you might do with that information.
• 38:48
[UNKNOWN]: Don't like this at all.
• 38:50
[UNKNOWN]: Remember, I called out the Department of Damage Control from Ms. Marvel.
• 38:55
[UNKNOWN]: I mean, they were behind these bears.
• 38:56
[UNKNOWN]: I would say where they were racist there, too.
• 38:59
[UNKNOWN]: Terrible, terrible terrible, you know.
• 39:02
[UNKNOWN]: And it was seeing Metzger, who was the head of the department.
• 39:07
[UNKNOWN]: He just seems like he just seems shady.
• 39:12
[UNKNOWN]: Well, so I, like, even though he plays a questionable character in severance, but he tremble to him and has such a compelling screen presence that, like, I wanted to like his character here.
• 39:25
  [UNKNOWN]: Ah, no.
• 39:26
  [UNKNOWN]: No, no.
• 39:27
  [UNKNOWN]: He walked on screen.
• 39:28
[UNKNOWN]: He doesn't have to take on.
• 39:29
[UNKNOWN]: Well, first of all, the fact that they were going to shoot the man, and if he didn't take off his mask, like, option one should be you can just leave.
• 39:38
[UNKNOWN]: Um, yeah, but then so he pops in and I, you know, it's immediately, I'm like, that is one fake ass smile.
• 39:45
[UNKNOWN]: I don't think that's a single thing that comes out of this man's mouth.
• 39:50
[UNKNOWN]: I was kind of low key upset at Peter for not seeing it, you know, because he's been around the blood.
• 39:57
[UNKNOWN]: He was, his mind hasn't been erased, so he, he's seen a lot of different things.
• 40:08
[UNKNOWN]: I think that's a by-product of him being alone is he's looking for connection anywhere.
• 40:16
[UNKNOWN]: You know what I mean?
• 40:18
[UNKNOWN]: And he, I, I, I, I was questioning why he was closing up to damage control.
• 40:30
  [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
• 40:31
  [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
• 40:32
[UNKNOWN]: His body senses didn't tingle, or, you know, I mean, but it was also, as his spider sense, it was, I found it strange that as his spider sense was kicking in more, he became less aware of gene gray in the various bodies.
• 40:47
[UNKNOWN]: And I'm very curious why would that be?
• 40:49
[UNKNOWN]: Is it because it's actually, we're giving too much credit to the spider sense, and it's actually his human intuition?
• 40:59
[UNKNOWN]: But yeah, he was like a bit, Peter, you're being a bit too naive and living on your own the past few years.
• 41:06
[UNKNOWN]: I don't think you should be this naive.
• 41:08
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, yeah, just, you know, every, it just, I was just like, do everything that you've gone through.
• 41:16
[UNKNOWN]: How can you trust this guy?
• 41:20
[UNKNOWN]: You went through the civil war.
• 41:22
  [UNKNOWN]: You went there.
• 41:24
  [UNKNOWN]: You went there.
• 41:25
  [UNKNOWN]: You went there.
• 41:27
[UNKNOWN]: you know, trying to get the sacovial accords, you know, to track people with powers, you do all the result of that.
• 41:36
  [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
• 41:36
[UNKNOWN]: So, and the thing that I again, the thing that I came back with was that loneliness and being on your own, these people to make choices that if they have support that maybe they wouldn't normally make.
• 41:51
  [UNKNOWN]: Mm-hmm.
• 41:53
[UNKNOWN]: You know, if you have somebody to bounce your ideas off of somebody who you trust, you know, they can give you a different way of looking at a situation.
• 42:04
[UNKNOWN]: And this is what made the movie, one of the aspects of the movie that was so compelling is that, you know, I just felt like he was trying to connect wherever he could.
• 42:24
[UNKNOWN]: and how do you be true to someone when you're keeping part of yourself away from them at all times?
• 42:37
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, and so that's why I met.
• 42:39
[UNKNOWN]: And I thought the tank chased down the street was really cool.
• 42:44
[UNKNOWN]: The way that he slung into Frank's truck and dropped kicked them out of the truck, I really appreciated that they showed how strong Spider-Man can be like a lot of times, people don't think of Spider-Man as being really strong.
• 43:07
[UNKNOWN]: If he doesn't hold back, he calls a lot of damage to a lot of people.
• 43:15
[UNKNOWN]: And I love an odd couple team up and yeah, I think that Spider-Man and Punisher is a great one.
• 43:22
[UNKNOWN]: Obviously, it has comics, precedents, but also just the fact that apparently Tom Holland and John Bernthal are friends in real life.
• 43:31
[UNKNOWN]: They've done a lot of movies together and like they famously helped each other audition for them, see you.
• 43:38
[UNKNOWN]: So, yeah, that it came across on-screen.
• 43:41
[UNKNOWN]: You felt that genuine warmth between them, even though Frank is typically such a prickly dude, but he is a prickly dude.
• 43:48
[UNKNOWN]: And this is why I always, I'm a Frank defender.
• 43:50
[UNKNOWN]: He is a prickly dude who shows his soft belly to the right people.
• 43:55
[UNKNOWN]: I mean, I ask you a question.
• 43:56
[UNKNOWN]: If you were a comic book person,
• 44:04
[UNKNOWN]: Right, as you are now.
• 44:06
  [UNKNOWN]: This is regular person.
• 44:07
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, just a regular comic book person.
• 44:09
[UNKNOWN]: You recombled, you know about Superheroes.
• 44:11
[UNKNOWN]: You have knowledge of all those things.
• 44:14
[UNKNOWN]: Oh, it's not living in, but just okay.
• 44:15
[UNKNOWN]: No, you know, no, you, right?
• 44:18
[UNKNOWN]: You have the knowledge of all these things, right?
• 44:21
[UNKNOWN]: You never heard of this movie.
• 44:23
[UNKNOWN]: You never spoke to anyone about this movie.
• 44:26
[UNKNOWN]: Didn't read about the movie, nothing at all.
• 44:30
  [UNKNOWN]: And you're sitting there.
• 44:33
[UNKNOWN]: The mind swaps start happening.
• 44:37
[UNKNOWN]: Do you save yourself telepath?
• 44:41
[UNKNOWN]: the jumping from body to body.
• 44:43
[UNKNOWN]: You know what it kind of, I mean, the thing is I know a lot of stories that do have this whole jumping from body to body.
• 44:50
[UNKNOWN]: Like, what was the one again?
• 44:52
[UNKNOWN]: Was it with Denzel Washington with the Sohta?
• 44:55
  [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, that's all then.
• 44:56
  [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
• 44:56
  [UNKNOWN]: Uh-huh.
• 44:56
  [UNKNOWN]: Uh-huh.
• 44:57
[UNKNOWN]: That's what I, that's that was the first one I thought of, and there's definitely other ones.
• 45:01
[UNKNOWN]: So, yeah, just based on
• 45:05
[UNKNOWN]: I have seen the similar stories, but I wouldn't have guessed Gene Gray per se because I personally, I haven't read every dream, Gene Gray comic, but she is one of my favorite X-Men, but I, yeah, this to me is a new way of using her powers and maybe there is precedence I'm not sure.
• 45:26
  [UNKNOWN]: Totally agree.
• 45:28
  [UNKNOWN]: I...
• 45:29
[UNKNOWN]: If we didn't know all the rumors and all the speculation and anything out there, everything out there, I am hard pressed to believe that anyone sitting in the theater at the moment that the mind swaps a happening immediately picks up that this jean gray.
• 45:55
[UNKNOWN]: her powers in a way that we really haven't seen before on.
• 45:59
  [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
• 46:00
  [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
• 46:01
[UNKNOWN]: And I like, um, I like the day established that that 33 foot rule thing come back to that, but um, yeah.
• 46:10
[UNKNOWN]: And I don't mind the shortcut of like, I have an AI that can calculate the jumps because people are doing these dramatic dances when she jumps.
• 46:17
[UNKNOWN]: So it's like, that's fine.
• 46:17
  [UNKNOWN]: That works.
• 46:18
[UNKNOWN]: It may, it may sense
• 46:23
[UNKNOWN]: All right, so let's move on to our next one.
• 46:26
  [UNKNOWN]: Can a Spider-Man mutate?
• 46:30
[UNKNOWN]: So we get Peter crashes MJ in Ned's party because he sees Ned's on the street and he follows him.
• 46:40
[UNKNOWN]: Ned and MJ are having a party at their apartment and Peter brings some flowers and he's looking around, reminiscing.
• 46:52
[UNKNOWN]: And he sees MJ, kiss her mysteriously unnamed boyfriend.
• 46:59
[UNKNOWN]: Can speak you isly unnamed.
• 47:01
  [UNKNOWN]: He returns home.
• 47:04
[UNKNOWN]: And before you know it, his spider powers are going haywire.
• 47:08
[UNKNOWN]: He shoots organic webs from his wrists, passes out, and wakes up in a cocoon of webbing.
• 47:15
[UNKNOWN]: He sneaks back down inside of his apartment.
• 47:19
[UNKNOWN]: Guess on the elevator, wearing his neighbor's juicy guitar jumpsuit, and tries to figure out what is going on.
• 47:26
[UNKNOWN]: When the mind jumps a strikes again, using Scorpion, spidey nearly kills him with his newly heightened senses strength and aggression.
• 47:36
[UNKNOWN]: He badly enters a cop, and the wolf tells him to take a break and get his act together.
• 47:42
[UNKNOWN]: So what does he do?
• 47:43
[UNKNOWN]: He sucks to science to shithead of the situation.
• 47:47
[UNKNOWN]: He talks to Professor Banner, yes, that Professor Banner.
• 47:51
[UNKNOWN]: Then creates an inhibitor chip that will turn off these new mutations of his.
• 47:57
[UNKNOWN]: Meanwhile, the mind jumper has found out his secret identity, finds his apartment, and the letter that he wrote to MJ all those years ago at the end of Spider-Man No way Home telling her of the race history and of their love.
• 48:12
[UNKNOWN]: MJ is threatened, so Spidey races to try to protect her.
• 48:17
  [UNKNOWN]: What did you think?
• 48:20
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I mean, this was, um,
• 48:23
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, there was, there was a lot here and I got distracted by so I'm on as Fandi is playing just credited in the credits.
• 48:30
[UNKNOWN]: Also the boyfriend, anyone else, there's a really, she also plays as a, as a, as a richer in, um, uh, so I was, so I was, so I was, so I was, so yeah, um, and so, okay, we have to dig into this real quick first.
• 48:49
  [UNKNOWN]: Do we?
• 48:50
[UNKNOWN]: I am stuck on the idea.
• 48:51
[UNKNOWN]: The fact that he's so, and he was also like, I expected him to be more than that scene, but no, he's brought up other times, but he doesn't show up again in any other points.
• 49:00
[UNKNOWN]: And I'm like, this is definitely a character that's coming back.
• 49:04
[UNKNOWN]: Is, are we going to find out his name's Harry?
• 49:09
  [UNKNOWN]: Ha, man.
• 49:14
[UNKNOWN]: Why would you want to explain who is who Harry is for anyone who didn't get that?
• 49:18
[UNKNOWN]: Harry Osmoan is the son of Norman Osmoan, Spider-Man's best friend, Peter Parker's best friend, who eventually becomes a villain, because he feels he thinks that Spider-Man kills his father.
• 49:35
  [UNKNOWN]: Right.
• 49:36
  [UNKNOWN]: So Willam Defosa?
• 49:37
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, the James with his face, Franco character from
• 49:45
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I don't know if I want to see a Harry and Peter thing again.
• 49:49
  [UNKNOWN]: Okay.
• 49:51
  [UNKNOWN]: Okay.
• 49:52
  [UNKNOWN]: Okay.
• 49:52
[UNKNOWN]: I kind of like how they've done this version of Spider-Man in the MCU as having like a different cast of characters around him and I'm willing to explore those different cast of characters without the background that we get.
• 50:14
[UNKNOWN]: I'm hoping it's not heavy on the hospital.
• 50:17
[UNKNOWN]: OK, I mean, I wouldn't mind it personally.
• 50:22
[UNKNOWN]: I think that it would be good casting.
• 50:24
[UNKNOWN]: But I'm trying it like who else could of be like Eddie Brock or something?
• 50:29
[UNKNOWN]: Because we saw the only Eddie Brock we saw was from a different universe.
• 50:35
[UNKNOWN]: So we know that variants can look wildly different in this multiverse.
• 50:41
  [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, that is true.
• 50:42
  [UNKNOWN]: I don't know.
• 50:44
[UNKNOWN]: I'd have to give it some a lot more thought about who it could be.
• 50:48
[UNKNOWN]: They just made it suspicious by not saying anything.
• 50:51
[UNKNOWN]: No, it definitely, you know, I think your instincts are right that is probably Harry.
• 50:57
[UNKNOWN]: You know, but for me, I kind of just want a different character.
• 51:01
[UNKNOWN]: Give me somebody brand new, introduce, introduce some other thing into Peter's life.
• 51:08
  [UNKNOWN]: Okay.
• 51:10
[UNKNOWN]: Can I also ask you about, do you think they paid a lot of attention to Peter's neighbor, the one he stole the juicy couture jumpsuit from?
• 51:18
[UNKNOWN]: Because also at a point before that, she's like, oh, you live on the same floor?
• 51:21
[UNKNOWN]: It's me like she's interested and he's not having it.
• 51:25
[UNKNOWN]: But it made me wonder if this, and also unnamed, made me wonder if she might turn out to be one of Peter's short lived girlfriends from the comics.
• 51:41
[UNKNOWN]: made me feel like they might be potentially having this person being set up for future, references, but I just, I mean, you know, it's, it's Matt and Electra and it's Peter and MJ.
• 52:00
[UNKNOWN]: is Bruce and Selena, it's Clark and Lois, you know what I mean?
• 52:06
[UNKNOWN]: No, yeah, I think that's why I say short-lived girlfriend.
• 52:09
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I mean obviously MJ's with someone else right now.
• 52:13
[UNKNOWN]: It would be kind of good for Peter to allow someone into his life, but I do assume MJ's end game.
• 52:21
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I don't know if we even see that quite honestly.
• 52:27
[UNKNOWN]: like a pino with a different, in a different relationship, unless it's somebody like Gwen, or somebody like Black Cat.
• 52:38
  [UNKNOWN]: Okay, we'll see.
• 52:39
  [UNKNOWN]: We'll see.
• 52:40
[UNKNOWN]: That people would like really establish kind of relationships outside of M.J.
• 52:46
[UNKNOWN]: who, you know, they haven't been together in the comments for 10 years, 20 years, so this precedent to that, you know what I mean?
• 52:52
  [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
• 52:52
[UNKNOWN]: So, especially since the actors are married in real life, it's interesting.
• 52:57
[UNKNOWN]: I mean, I mean, I think they should be in game and stuff, but I think that it would make sense, especially if she, with the way she left things, it's like, I don't even remember you do, but thanks.
• 53:10
  [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I think.
• 53:11
[UNKNOWN]: I wouldn't mind it if it were somebody that, again, black cat or a Gwen Stacy or something like that.
• 53:20
  [UNKNOWN]: I wouldn't mind it.
• 53:22
[UNKNOWN]: But I don't think I want to see like shorten it for a message with Peter Parker.
• 53:26
  [UNKNOWN]: Okay.
• 53:26
[UNKNOWN]: I mean, sometimes you need to rebound, right?
• 53:28
  [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, you do absolutely.
• 53:30
  [UNKNOWN]: Absolutely.
• 53:31
  [UNKNOWN]: So, okay.
• 53:32
[UNKNOWN]: Here's the big question is Peter talking about mutations is he officially a mutant.
• 53:42
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, he was going to ask that question.
• 53:48
  [UNKNOWN]: No, he's not.
• 53:50
  [UNKNOWN]: No, he's not.
• 53:52
[UNKNOWN]: A mutant is, as in my understanding of it, is you have the genetic capability from birth.
• 54:03
  [UNKNOWN]: So he's a mutate.
• 54:04
[UNKNOWN]: It's not, yes, it's not something that's introduced into your system, it's something that's already inherent to your biology.
• 54:12
  [UNKNOWN]: OK.
• 54:13
[UNKNOWN]: So no, he's not on me.
• 54:16
  [UNKNOWN]: OK.
• 54:16
[UNKNOWN]: Okay, I did expect like some more man's spider niss also because I've fairly recently rewatched the first season of the 90s spider men cartoon and they, you know, that's in that there's, what's it the first or second season?
• 54:30
[UNKNOWN]: Anyway, they have like the comic book storyline with where he was ghost through something similar but then the ends up actually growing extra arms as well, but I guess they decided not to go.
• 54:42
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, they think we're going
• 54:45
[UNKNOWN]: I don't think they were going to give Spidey man like real Spidey situations.
• 54:51
[UNKNOWN]: We did get something to that effect.
• 54:53
[UNKNOWN]: The most horrifying version they're having Spidey noir.
• 54:57
  [UNKNOWN]: Yes, that's true.
• 54:58
  [UNKNOWN]: That's right.
• 54:59
  [UNKNOWN]: That's right.
• 55:00
  [UNKNOWN]: I don't remember what I did, you're right.
• 55:04
[UNKNOWN]: That was on Amazon Prime.
• 55:06
  [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
• 55:06
[UNKNOWN]: I don't think I'm going to do that on the big screen now.
• 55:11
  [UNKNOWN]: No, no, no.
• 55:13
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, that's another one that I think it's fantastic, but you know, when I was saying this is a very typical comment book thing that is doing something a different slightly different flavor and this is like the more classic variety, yeah, yeah.
• 55:27
[UNKNOWN]: Um, so I just have to bring up just because I keep seeing people ask about it and mean and bunch of others.
• 55:33
[UNKNOWN]: It seems online, all agree that the way this people were wondering, and I was wondering about it at first, too, um, how she got in June, Gary got into Mary Jane's body, MJ.
• 55:46
[UNKNOWN]: Sorry, uh, MJ's body from the helicopter pilot, um, but, um,
• 55:53
[UNKNOWN]: what was pointed out to me that realized is that she can only jump 33 feet between two other people, but at any time she can retract into her own body.
• 56:05
[UNKNOWN]: So she must have had her own body, probably standing right outside MJ's door and as soon as like he's distracted with the pilot, she's just like knock knock knock.
• 56:13
  [UNKNOWN]: Yes, my menu.
• 56:13
  [UNKNOWN]: Yes, yep, yep.
• 56:15
  [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
• 56:17
[UNKNOWN]: I have to ask you, well, not so serious question and then a very important question about the fate of the universe.
• 56:25
[UNKNOWN]: Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
• 56:47
[UNKNOWN]: Now she's another spider person, um, close by the name of silk, really, um, over the last 10 years.
• 56:57
[UNKNOWN]: I think she was introduced 10 15 years.
• 56:59
[UNKNOWN]: Might be even less than that.
• 57:02
[UNKNOWN]: And she was, basically there's a spider man comic book where there are these, um,
• 57:10
[UNKNOWN]: beings that go after what they call totems.
• 57:14
[UNKNOWN]: So people or beings are super powered individuals that take the monocards of animals.
• 57:24
[UNKNOWN]: So despite our totem, they were hunting.
• 57:27
[UNKNOWN]: The Cindy Moon happened to be a person that they were hunting and she was kept isolated in a bunker for many, many, many, many, many years to hide her from the baddies that were trying to consume her life essence.
• 57:42
[UNKNOWN]: It's one of the major Spider-Man story for the last 15 years.
• 57:49
[UNKNOWN]: I'll get the Spider-Man comic books so folks can find it out, but yeah, that's who she is.
• 57:57
[UNKNOWN]: So she has a long recent history in Spider-Man lore.
• 58:02
[UNKNOWN]: And so she did, in homecoming there is a character named Cindy Moon and the same actress played also briefly in Infinity War, but now it's a different actress in it and she was just called, so I don't know for a supposed to take something from that, but she does look exactly the same and it's if you put an Asian actress in a Spider-Man movie and call her Cindy, minds are going to jump to places and not be Jean Grey, but minds are going to jump.
• 58:31
[UNKNOWN]: You have to think it was done intentionally, because they only called up her name in the classroom, right?
• 58:37
  [UNKNOWN]: Right.
• 58:37
[UNKNOWN]: No, no one else was called.
• 58:39
  [UNKNOWN]: Right.
• 58:40
[UNKNOWN]: It has to be intentional.
• 58:42
[UNKNOWN]: and she asked the question, why didn't Thanos use his snap to create more food instead, which is obviously like, you know, speaking to the fans online, um, and then he just got someone else to say Hulk Smash, which is just a way of dismissing the question, but I was, I got up in arms about him, like, well, first of all, because it wouldn't work.
• 59:04
  [UNKNOWN]: So,
• 59:05
  [UNKNOWN]: I mean, okay.
• 59:06
[UNKNOWN]: So when Thanos snaps and, you know, have the population, people point out that the population would quickly rebound.
• 59:13
[UNKNOWN]: And, and I agree, that was not the way to do it.
• 59:16
[UNKNOWN]: But if you just first of all, food shortage is not our problem.
• 59:20
[UNKNOWN]: Food distribution is the problem in our world.
• 59:25
  [UNKNOWN]: So,
• 59:26
[UNKNOWN]: Creating more food not only is attempting to solve a problem that doesn't exist and not solving the actual problem standing in the way, but also it's ignoring the fact that overpopulation is one of the biggest things that we see playing out in our world right now is mineral resource shortages like the minerals that we want to put in all of our smart phones and gadgets and stuff.
• 59:52
[UNKNOWN]: that is what a lot of the global conflict right now really comes down to.
• 59:56
[UNKNOWN]: That's why some people want to see if they can drill it out of Greenland for instance.
• 1:00:05
[UNKNOWN]: So it doesn't solve the problems like that.
• 1:00:08
[UNKNOWN]: So I was just thinking, I've actually put way too much thought into this, but let me ask you, what do we think Dennis should have used
• 1:00:26
  [UNKNOWN]: Nothing.
• 1:00:27
[UNKNOWN]: I think he did exactly what he needed to do.
• 1:00:30
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I'm going to disagree for the reasons I said, but I've been thinking about it in like it first, I was like maybe what if they just made people smarter, but I don't know that that's really the problem.
• 1:00:41
[UNKNOWN]: And I decided I landed on I would snap so that everyone had a certain minimum amount of empathy.
• 1:00:49
[UNKNOWN]: We don't want to overload the people who are already empaths, but if you have a certain minimum amount of empathy, I think that would
• 1:00:58
[UNKNOWN]: Cause, yeah, that would create more of the cooperation that would overcome these resource distribution problems.
• 1:01:06
[UNKNOWN]: Okay, all right, I say snap half the universe all of the day.
• 1:01:11
[UNKNOWN]: What if it's you, what if it's not you and it is your son?
• 1:01:16
[UNKNOWN]: You know, if everyone who's this name, this is why Alicia does the big brain potato stuff and I do a small brain potato stuff.
• 1:01:25
[UNKNOWN]: And with that, we're gonna take a break.
• 1:01:28
[UNKNOWN]: Emily, right back to talk about more Spider-Man, big brain potato stuff.
• 1:01:55
  [UNKNOWN]: Okay, so we're back.
• 1:01:57
[UNKNOWN]: And I can't bring enough big brain potatoes stuff.
• 1:02:01
[UNKNOWN]: We haven't even called out, you know, Elena, who is the current black widow.
• 1:02:08
[UNKNOWN]: Don't act me, don't, don't come for me.
• 1:02:11
[UNKNOWN]: This is just the facts.
• 1:02:13
[UNKNOWN]: Red room, black widows, that's what they are.
• 1:02:17
[UNKNOWN]: Just hold your horses, you know, and just be easy.
• 1:02:25
  [UNKNOWN]: Yes.
• 1:02:26
[UNKNOWN]: That turns you the black one.
• 1:02:28
  [UNKNOWN]: No.
• 1:02:28
  [UNKNOWN]: Yes.
• 1:02:29
  [UNKNOWN]: Please.
• 1:02:30
[UNKNOWN]: So what did you think about your later in this film?
• 1:02:33
[UNKNOWN]: Before we even get to that next comment, I just wanted to ask you.
• 1:02:38
[UNKNOWN]: What did you think of it?
• 1:02:39
[UNKNOWN]: I mean, it's always delightful when she shows up.
• 1:02:42
  [UNKNOWN]: She's never used enough.
• 1:02:44
[UNKNOWN]: Of course, I mean, I mean, you're making the references to the big potato small potatoes thing.
• 1:02:49
[UNKNOWN]: And it's sometimes like a lot of nerds like us just or actually angry or nerds than us.
• 1:02:55
[UNKNOWN]: I would say me that casual explanation for like, why isn't spite it really because
• 1:03:01
[UNKNOWN]: Reportedly, Spider-Man's not going to be in Doomsday.
• 1:03:04
[UNKNOWN]: I do actually believe that because I think A Doomsday has too many characters in it already.
• 1:03:13
[UNKNOWN]: I mean, not too many, but you know what I mean.
• 1:03:15
[UNKNOWN]: You don't want it to be more overstuffed than it is, but also Tom Holland obviously has a busy shooting schedule.
• 1:03:21
[UNKNOWN]: He's in like everything these days.
• 1:03:23
[UNKNOWN]: So yeah, so it makes sense to me,
• 1:03:27
[UNKNOWN]: that for logistical reasons he would sit out to him stay a line like that makes it make more sense for, you know, in universe reasons that and the credit scene where potentially he's in space.
• 1:03:40
  [UNKNOWN]: Okay.
• 1:03:40
  [UNKNOWN]: All right.
• 1:03:41
[UNKNOWN]: But yeah, no, it was great to see her show up.
• 1:03:43
[UNKNOWN]: I love that she the way like she can deliver a line like that, but just like everything she does is charming.
• 1:03:50
[UNKNOWN]: I loved her in Miss Marvel
• 1:03:55
[UNKNOWN]: It was, um, uh, what's at Hawkeye when she she was with K-Bishup and the macaroni and cheese.
• 1:04:03
[UNKNOWN]: And so her username in this movie was, it was like mac and cheese lover.
• 1:04:07
  [UNKNOWN]: She's lover.
• 1:04:09
[UNKNOWN]: So, I love those callbacks, just her entire personality, the fact that she makes people meet her in, in its spa so that they have to like disrobe and so that she feels like they can't be hiding weapons.
• 1:04:23
  [UNKNOWN]: I think that's brilliant.
• 1:04:24
[UNKNOWN]: I did worry for her poor laptop and all that steam, but, uh,
• 1:04:29
[UNKNOWN]: I did so fun to see her.
• 1:04:31
[UNKNOWN]: I did wonder like when they reached the climax.
• 1:04:34
[UNKNOWN]: Obviously, she explained why the new Avengers wouldn't be involved, but when they reached the climax, I had to think a lot about century and that whole climax of Thunderbolts and whether they were having a sort of flashback in a way.
• 1:04:49
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, what did you think of her?
• 1:04:53
[UNKNOWN]: The way she was used here.
• 1:04:55
[UNKNOWN]: I thought it was just right, you know, this is what I mean, you know, the characters that show up, but they in support of Peter and I think this was the prime example of that.
• 1:05:08
[UNKNOWN]: She then, you know, the, the banter that she has with different heroes is just great.
• 1:05:16
[UNKNOWN]: And so shout out to the writing team because they, I think they really have hit on something
• 1:05:23
[UNKNOWN]: Florence Pue's portrayal of this character.
• 1:05:27
[UNKNOWN]: because every scene that she's in and when she's talking to other heroes or whoever, it's, you know, it can be serious, but most of the time it's just damn funny.
• 1:05:40
[UNKNOWN]: You know what I mean?
• 1:05:41
[UNKNOWN]: It's like she brings something else to the movies that she's in, the scenes that she's in.
• 1:05:48
[UNKNOWN]: And I really want to see more of the character on screen.
• 1:05:54
[UNKNOWN]: interacting with all these other, you know, players.
• 1:05:59
[UNKNOWN]: So, yeah, this was really, really good stuff.
• 1:06:04
  [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, yeah, I agree.
• 1:06:06
[UNKNOWN]: Alright, so let's get back to the Spidey movie.
• 1:06:08
[UNKNOWN]: Frank Castle to the Rescue.
• 1:06:10
[UNKNOWN]: Peter swings over to MJ.
• 1:06:13
[UNKNOWN]: Convincents her that she's in danger, and she needs to come with Spiderman, so she can be safe.
• 1:06:20
[UNKNOWN]: He brings her to Frank secret hideout.
• 1:06:23
[UNKNOWN]: Hey, they immediately each other, like only real friends can do.
• 1:06:29
[UNKNOWN]: And Frank tells Peter, let's tell Peter.
• 1:06:32
[UNKNOWN]: What does he tell Peter?
• 1:06:34
[UNKNOWN]: Oh, you bet I thought of you in the theater.
• 1:06:36
[UNKNOWN]: When he told him to kick rocks.
• 1:06:38
  [UNKNOWN]: Kick rocks.
• 1:06:41
[UNKNOWN]: When you, you know, you know, when you're seen, you know, when you feel seen and loved by the universe, this is what it was moments for me.
• 1:06:54
[UNKNOWN]: I felt seen and loved by the universe.
• 1:06:57
  [UNKNOWN]: Here in Frank Rock,
• 1:07:04
[UNKNOWN]: And the amazing, what a feeling.
• 1:07:07
[UNKNOWN]: OK, Frank promises to protect MJ and Peter goes to find a telepath with an inhibitor chip in his pocket to stop him.
• 1:07:17
[UNKNOWN]: He's back at the DODC, and Frank is there to help.
• 1:07:20
[UNKNOWN]: His friend out after being convinced by MJ that maybe you should go and help your friend.
• 1:07:26
[UNKNOWN]: The telepaths who we now know is Jean Gray, thanks to Yelena doing some digging.
• 1:07:35
  [UNKNOWN]: control smart hug.
• 1:07:38
  [UNKNOWN]: Who saw that coming?
• 1:07:40
[UNKNOWN]: Not me, but eventually the other guy.
• 1:07:44
[UNKNOWN]: We all know who the other guy is.
• 1:07:46
[UNKNOWN]: The other guy takes over and they fight with Bannerhug seeing something in Peter and just says, you know what?
• 1:07:54
[UNKNOWN]: I don't want to hurt Spider-Man and he stops fighting
• 1:07:59
[UNKNOWN]: Peter gets the chip on Gene, who whispers Sarah before passing out, and it's all smiles with the VODC, can't build Metsker.
• 1:08:09
[UNKNOWN]: He heads back to Frank's place and sees MJ reading his note and comes clean, but she doesn't remember anything.
• 1:08:16
[UNKNOWN]: Nothing at all, and he brings her back home.
• 1:08:20
[UNKNOWN]: I like that he was he was clever enough as soon as he's like, oh, you don't remember anything from being possessed that Metzker must be full of shit when he said she he remembers her getting something from his mind or something.
• 1:08:33
  [UNKNOWN]: Yes.
• 1:08:34
[UNKNOWN]: Medskir, okay, so I, like I've said before, I'm not as familiar with the spider first comics.
• 1:08:43
[UNKNOWN]: I definitely recent releases have made me more interested in doing so, but I don't know characters like Medskir, so I didn't realize that he was a known villain in the comics until afterwards.
• 1:08:57
  [UNKNOWN]: But he's a known anti-mutein.
• 1:08:59
  [UNKNOWN]: Specifically, yeah.
• 1:09:01
[UNKNOWN]: Specifically, he's a human being who hates mutants.
• 1:09:04
[UNKNOWN]: And now Peter has given him a universal inhibitor chip.
• 1:09:09
[UNKNOWN]: That's what Peter has given him.
• 1:09:11
  [UNKNOWN]: So Dr.
• 1:09:12
[UNKNOWN]: Banner helped Peter realize how to stop the mutations because of the risk of the inhibitor that Banner was to control his own aggression, so he doesn't turn into the help.
• 1:09:28
[UNKNOWN]: So Peter, science is the shit out of it.
• 1:09:34
[UNKNOWN]: to control his mRNA with the spider mutation so he can be baseline Spider-Man and not overly aggressive Spider-Man.
• 1:09:45
[UNKNOWN]: He figures out a way to do that for everyone with powers.
• 1:09:51
  [UNKNOWN]: but then not good.
• 1:09:53
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, we could be the thing is with his, he's like trying to trim down his powers to the older variety, so to speak, because he still has like the super strength and he's baseline Spider-Man.
• 1:10:03
[UNKNOWN]: But with with others, you know, they just kind of turn off the powers.
• 1:10:08
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, he turns off everybody else's powers.
• 1:10:11
[UNKNOWN]: And this is obviously, as soon as we see this happening, I'm thinking about because the comics that I do read a lot of our X-Men comics.
• 1:10:20
[UNKNOWN]: And this is a theme that comes up again and again with the, yeah, with some version of the, and him and the colors, we don't see chips.
• 1:10:32
[UNKNOWN]: We most often see colors when we're dealing with the X-Men.
• 1:10:35
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, so I was wondering if this is like, first, okay, of course he and Gene end up with a sort of understanding and a mutual kindness in part ways at the end of this movie, but I can just see him being the inventor of this technology that's obviously about to be used against the emerging mutants in the universe.
• 1:10:58
  [UNKNOWN]: So obvious.
• 1:11:00
[UNKNOWN]: And that's, again, Mesker in the comics is a mutant hater.
• 1:11:08
  [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
• 1:11:09
[UNKNOWN]: It's a bigot who wants to eliminate mutants from the face of the earth.
• 1:11:13
[UNKNOWN]: So, I know we're getting the X-Men versus Avengers with the classic, you know, Fox Men versus the Avengers that we've had, but I'm wondering if this is setting up a future next-generation X-Men versus Avengers complex with, you know, one side led by Jean Gray and we'll talk about castings later, but, and the other side.
• 1:11:38
  [UNKNOWN]: I think so.
• 1:11:41
[UNKNOWN]: It may not be directly X-Men versus Avengers, but I really think they're setting up a universe post-secret wars where the X-Men are fighting against this very inhibitor chip technology.
• 1:11:57
[UNKNOWN]: That's been introduced in this movie.
• 1:12:00
  [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
• 1:12:02
[UNKNOWN]: Ratt Row, I would, what do we think happened with the whole key was carded off to it's done on the news to a mental hospital, but yeah, do we believe that for a second?
• 1:12:13
[UNKNOWN]: No, actually not, I think they put them on the raft.
• 1:12:16
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, could be because there was a bunch of interesting heroes there that I actually would like to see him with.
• 1:12:21
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I definitely think they put them on the raft.
• 1:12:23
[UNKNOWN]: I think it wasn't it confirms that we won't see him in Doomsday where we will see quote unquote lots of hoax and secret war.
• 1:12:32
[UNKNOWN]: I don't, it was a confine, not in Doomsday.
• 1:12:36
[UNKNOWN]: I mean, they can say things also and we don't know if we will leave them.
• 1:12:40
[UNKNOWN]: But as I said, they do have a rather stacked cast already for Doomsday.
• 1:12:44
[UNKNOWN]: They don't need to shove more care to this thing.
• 1:12:46
  [UNKNOWN]: Right.
• 1:12:47
  [UNKNOWN]: Right.
• 1:12:49
[UNKNOWN]: What did you think about the fight sequence?
• 1:12:52
[UNKNOWN]: Because this is what I was talking about right now.
• 1:12:54
[UNKNOWN]: But I think it's a top five, five sequence and Marvel cinema history, specifically when Spidey is pulling Frank on the floor, and Frank is looking up at the book, and just letting off all the shots at Hulk.
• 1:13:14
  [UNKNOWN]: Ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba
• 1:13:22
[UNKNOWN]: I thought that was so cool like a shot from the camera, but I was also as it was happening.
• 1:13:27
[UNKNOWN]: I was like, oh, Frank Honey, that's not going to do anything.
• 1:13:30
  [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, exactly.
• 1:13:30
[UNKNOWN]: We knew it was not going to do anything, but it's fine.
• 1:13:32
[UNKNOWN]: It's all you can do.
• 1:13:33
[UNKNOWN]: But it loved cool as hell.
• 1:13:35
[UNKNOWN]: But yeah, that was an amazing shot.
• 1:13:37
[UNKNOWN]: I thought the old sequence, it brought back memories of Avengers when Hulk is on the Hellicaria chasing Black Widow.
• 1:13:51
[UNKNOWN]: you know, and the scary almost horror vibes when he's, you know, chasing Spider-Man in the hallway and you don't know where he's at and all of a sudden he's boom he's right there like Jason, where he's, you know, and so it was really, it was really a well done sequence with, with that fight scene, with between Spider-Man and Hulk.
• 1:14:14
  [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
• 1:14:15
  [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
• 1:14:16
  [UNKNOWN]: And um, okay.
• 1:14:17
[UNKNOWN]: Here's a question for you.
• 1:14:18
[UNKNOWN]: Uh, it's a comic book nerd.
• 1:14:21
[UNKNOWN]: Would you consider this version of Hulk that we had there Savage Hulk?
• 1:14:27
  [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
• 1:14:27
  [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
• 1:14:27
  [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
• 1:14:28
  [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
• 1:14:30
  [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
• 1:14:30
[UNKNOWN]: I'm what makes him Savage Hulk that he's just bigger and stronger.
• 1:14:34
  [UNKNOWN]: He's bigger.
• 1:14:35
  [UNKNOWN]: He's stronger.
• 1:14:36
  [UNKNOWN]: And he's not.
• 1:14:40
[UNKNOWN]: Thinking in the ways that, you know, professor Hulk would that we've seen, right?
• 1:14:46
[UNKNOWN]: So not only is the anger more pronounced, but the anger is at the forefront of everything that he does.
• 1:14:57
[UNKNOWN]: If that makes sense, there's no it's just reacting to the anger and wanting to get away
• 1:15:08
  [UNKNOWN]: mad.
• 1:15:09
[UNKNOWN]: You know what I mean?
• 1:15:10
[UNKNOWN]: So, yes, I think that is this is savage hope.
• 1:15:13
  [UNKNOWN]: Okay, okay.
• 1:15:15
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I just, I'm so curious.
• 1:15:17
  [UNKNOWN]: You don't think so?
• 1:15:18
[UNKNOWN]: No, no, no, I agree.
• 1:15:19
  [UNKNOWN]: I agree.
• 1:15:19
  [UNKNOWN]: I agree.
• 1:15:21
[UNKNOWN]: I know people expected him to be grayer.
• 1:15:24
[UNKNOWN]: I don't, I don't know that he was that gray, but also, yeah, and I didn't get to see it on the fancy screen.
• 1:15:28
  [UNKNOWN]: I saw it on.
• 1:15:29
  [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I don't know.
• 1:15:31
[UNKNOWN]: I don't think, I think, you know, people, because
• 1:15:37
[UNKNOWN]: The original Hulk was great in comic books, but wasn't as big as for all, you know, wasn't as powerful as later incarnations of the character.
• 1:15:50
[UNKNOWN]: So I think this character is much more in tune with what you believe Hulk can be.
• 1:15:57
[UNKNOWN]: Let's say Hulk from the first two movies that came out.
• 1:16:03
[UNKNOWN]: the Hulk movie, who did the Hulk movie?
• 1:16:05
[UNKNOWN]: And was it any lead?
• 1:16:07
[UNKNOWN]: I think the, not the MCU Hulk movie, the other one.
• 1:16:11
  [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, the other one.
• 1:16:12
[UNKNOWN]: Much in that vein, you know, the Eric bano one, yeah.
• 1:16:15
[UNKNOWN]: Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes.
• 1:16:17
[UNKNOWN]: And even to the degree, the second Hulk, the first MCU Hulk movie.
• 1:16:22
  [UNKNOWN]: Eric, Edward Norton, yeah.
• 1:16:24
[UNKNOWN]: So you can see the similarities between those Hulk's,
• 1:16:29
[UNKNOWN]: more than you can see the similarities between the original from the comic books.
• 1:16:34
  [UNKNOWN]: Okay.
• 1:16:35
  [UNKNOWN]: Okay.
• 1:16:35
  [UNKNOWN]: Like to me.
• 1:16:37
  [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
• 1:16:38
  [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
• 1:16:40
  [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
• 1:16:40
[UNKNOWN]: I do wonder because the thing is they haven't, they didn't get to do a lot of the whole stories that people want to see yet, because because of the rights issues basically because the
• 1:16:57
[UNKNOWN]: Part of me, if they're keeping some people from the old guard, and I think they will, I could see that being one that they do keep just to be able to do more of that.
• 1:17:06
[UNKNOWN]: And I know like we got some teases of it, for instance, with Thor Ragnarok and stuff, but I think this is, like people are constantly making fun of Scar.
• 1:17:19
[UNKNOWN]: When he shows up and she ho, it is like, oh, by the way, this is my off-planet son.
• 1:17:24
[UNKNOWN]: I think it's such a shame we, I don't have a problem with scar showing up, yeah, as hair looks stupid, that's fine, that can be fixed.
• 1:17:33
[UNKNOWN]: But I just think it's such a shame that we didn't get to see that whole story, like you show up with an adult son, like at least give us something, you know, don't just shove this character in there, give us that story.
• 1:17:46
[UNKNOWN]: I mean, it's such a great story to your point, you know, it's such a great story, world
• 1:17:53
[UNKNOWN]: Just, yeah, and I think you're right, you know, they, they shortchanged us on telling that story.
• 1:18:01
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, so I do hope with this this promise of many hoax, I hope that it's not just like oh look now we've had a hook off moving on and obviously I could see them like doing a new hook with like an Amadeh's show or something sort of situation, but I hope that they do actually first dip into more of these classic stories in a more satisfying way first.
• 1:18:25
  [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
• 1:18:26
  [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
• 1:18:27
[UNKNOWN]: Can I ask you a question?
• 1:18:28
  [UNKNOWN]: When did you cry?
• 1:18:31
  [UNKNOWN]: Oh, not yet.
• 1:18:31
  [UNKNOWN]: We'll talk about it.
• 1:18:32
  [UNKNOWN]: Okay.
• 1:18:33
[UNKNOWN]: But I did love his bonding time with Ned.
• 1:18:37
  [UNKNOWN]: That was really nice.
• 1:18:38
[UNKNOWN]: Like when he brings MJ back.
• 1:18:41
[UNKNOWN]: And she's like, do you want to come upstairs and see Ned?
• 1:18:44
  [UNKNOWN]: He's like, yeah.
• 1:18:45
[UNKNOWN]: And then, well, first of all, was funny.
• 1:18:47
[UNKNOWN]: You know, we saw this in the trailers, too.
• 1:18:49
[UNKNOWN]: But we're Ned's like, my Spidey tracker says he's right.
• 1:18:52
  [UNKNOWN]: Whoa.
• 1:18:54
[UNKNOWN]: and then just like seeing them play games together and talk about Lord of the Rings together and just like the easy camaraderie between them and you see MJ soften too and be like she believes it like she doesn't know it but she believes it's interesting I was thinking this whole thing with MJ and like knowing things intellectually happened but not remembering them is an interesting kind of conversation with this season of silo and I'll just leave it at that
• 1:19:26
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, so it just had me like that difference between really remembering something or knowing something to be true, but having an emotional distance from it.
• 1:19:35
[UNKNOWN]: And in that sense, like that was kind of what broke my heart.
• 1:19:39
[UNKNOWN]: Like, Ned does not have that emotional distance.
• 1:19:42
[UNKNOWN]: He, as we saw at the very end.
• 1:19:45
[UNKNOWN]: Deep down, he remembers this friend.
• 1:19:48
[UNKNOWN]: There's like some muscle memory in there when they do their handshake at the end and he really remembers him.
• 1:19:53
[UNKNOWN]: MJ though, she's like, I believe you.
• 1:19:56
[UNKNOWN]: I believe everything you're saying is true, but it just doesn't mean anything to me deep down.
• 1:20:01
[UNKNOWN]: And that was so heartbreaking to me.
• 1:20:03
[UNKNOWN]: So I was glad that at least he and Ned get to be together again after this.
• 1:20:10
  [UNKNOWN]: nice.
• 1:20:11
  [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
• 1:20:12
[UNKNOWN]: So then we get Peter learns the lesson that not everyone can be trusted.
• 1:20:18
[UNKNOWN]: So after, like you said, she invite Peter up to their apartment after he brings her home.
• 1:20:26
  [UNKNOWN]: And that is there.
• 1:20:29
[UNKNOWN]: And who's next to men?
• 1:20:31
  [UNKNOWN]: But Spider-Man.
• 1:20:35
[UNKNOWN]: And that is the creative of the spider tracker.
• 1:20:37
[UNKNOWN]: So he's all in and trying to find out who is Spider-Man.
• 1:20:42
[UNKNOWN]: And who was his number one?
• 1:20:45
[UNKNOWN]: He had a board of dead.
• 1:20:50
  [UNKNOWN]: That's it.
• 1:20:51
[UNKNOWN]: His number one suspect was none other than him.
• 1:20:54
  [UNKNOWN]: flash.
• 1:20:56
[UNKNOWN]: No, the guy who released a book was like, my life is the best friend of Spine Man.
• 1:21:02
  [UNKNOWN]: Yes.
• 1:21:03
  [UNKNOWN]: It's like that.
• 1:21:04
  [UNKNOWN]: No, you're not.
• 1:21:06
[UNKNOWN]: I'm a Peter with help from Yelena.
• 1:21:09
[UNKNOWN]: I'm learned as Sarah was Gene's sister who was taken and disappeared by his friend, Metzker, and the D.O.D.C.
• 1:21:17
[UNKNOWN]: He realized that Metsker lied to him about remembering Jean being in his mind because no one remembers anything from after she takes control.
• 1:21:26
[UNKNOWN]: Peter goes to the Holden facility and fights the hand.
• 1:21:30
  [UNKNOWN]: Metsker's hand picked security.
• 1:21:33
  [UNKNOWN]: Well, this is happening.
• 1:21:34
[UNKNOWN]: Jean realizes that what her sister said to her telepathically,
• 1:21:47
[UNKNOWN]: Jane Bray 3, she also has telekinesis powers and brings Metzker to her, shards of broken glass at his face.
• 1:21:56
[UNKNOWN]: Peter goes to her and lets her into his mind, and she sees his loss, sees his pain.
• 1:22:03
[UNKNOWN]: Frank, thinking that the only way to help is his way, shoots to kill Jane, but Peter senses it and takes the bullet instead.
• 1:22:14
[UNKNOWN]: So this whole sequence was what made me cry.
• 1:22:19
[UNKNOWN]: I mean, yeah, there was even MJ cried.
• 1:22:21
[UNKNOWN]: Like because then, yeah, when she found out that her sister was killed and it's just, like that was unexpectedly brutal.
• 1:22:29
[UNKNOWN]: How did your son did he cry?
• 1:22:31
[UNKNOWN]: This is when he cried.
• 1:22:33
  [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, okay, yeah.
• 1:22:34
[UNKNOWN]: This is when he cried, not with the reveal of Sarah's death, but the lead up to Peter being shot.
• 1:22:44
  [UNKNOWN]: is when he started.
• 1:22:45
[UNKNOWN]: And then when Peter was shot, it was over.
• 1:22:49
[UNKNOWN]: And that was really him.
• 1:22:54
[UNKNOWN]: And he was, because he leaned in next to me and he was like,
• 1:22:58
[UNKNOWN]: Is he gonna shoot him papa?
• 1:23:00
[UNKNOWN]: Is he gonna shoot him?
• 1:23:01
  [UNKNOWN]: What's Frank gonna do?
• 1:23:02
  [UNKNOWN]: What's Frank gonna do?
• 1:23:03
[UNKNOWN]: Well, that's what you know what Frank does.
• 1:23:05
[UNKNOWN]: He's like, but he's gonna shoot papa.
• 1:23:07
[UNKNOWN]: He's gonna eat, but if not shoot Peter, he's gonna shoot Peter, and you're gonna shoot Peter Papa, you're gonna shoot Peter, you're gonna shoot Peter, you're gonna shoot Peter, and then it was Peter that was shot, and then there was over, it was over.
• 1:23:18
[UNKNOWN]: So this is, I think the emotional heart of this film is here.
• 1:23:25
  [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
• 1:23:27
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, for me, the moment was especially, I mean, yeah, it was like just realizing the brutality of that they basically that he tortured Sarah for death.
• 1:23:40
[UNKNOWN]: That was one thing, but then what really hit me was this talk.
• 1:23:43
  [UNKNOWN]: from anime.
• 1:23:45
[UNKNOWN]: So, at me, she's talking to Peter but then, you know, since Jean is in his place in his mind.
• 1:23:53
[UNKNOWN]: It's like she's talking to Jean at the same time and it applies equally to them both and she says, you're a really special person.
• 1:24:01
[UNKNOWN]: And I would hope that that will always make you feel really great about yourself, but I know sometimes it doesn't.
• 1:24:08
  [UNKNOWN]: Sometimes you'll be really
• 1:24:10
[UNKNOWN]: And sometimes because you're special, people can do dark, monstrous things to you.
• 1:24:15
[UNKNOWN]: This is what I want you to know.
• 1:24:17
  [UNKNOWN]: You're beautiful.
• 1:24:18
[UNKNOWN]: And the people who love you, we love you not because you're special, love you because you're you.
• 1:24:24
[UNKNOWN]: I want you to remember that.
• 1:24:26
[UNKNOWN]: Even when it feels like you're totally alone, that's your deepest responsibility.
• 1:24:31
[UNKNOWN]: Never forget that no matter how powerful you become.
• 1:24:34
[UNKNOWN]: And I'll just have few things like,
• 1:24:38
[UNKNOWN]: Obviously, the use of the word responsibility with great power comes great responsibility and this is sort of saying like your responsibility is to keep yourself
• 1:25:02
[UNKNOWN]: right, like you have to take care of with the power that you're given, you have to take care of the people around you.
• 1:25:09
[UNKNOWN]: You have to do for the people around you, do because you can, you can save people, you can affect people's lives.
• 1:25:17
[UNKNOWN]: So that's the power that you hold, that's the responsibility that you have.
• 1:25:21
[UNKNOWN]: But here is like, you have to be okay.
• 1:25:27
[UNKNOWN]: You don't, you have to be okay, but it's, yeah.
• 1:25:32
[UNKNOWN]: Go ahead, no, go ahead.
• 1:25:33
[UNKNOWN]: No, just the part, especially that really spoke to me was just, I think that humans have a tendency to jump to jealousy so quickly that they don't realize that it,
• 1:25:46
[UNKNOWN]: is lonely for people who are told their special in one way or another with their told their specials because they're different from other people, they're told their special because they have a particular talent, whether it's running or math scores or whatever.
• 1:26:03
[UNKNOWN]: And when someone is told their special publicly, it often makes them a target of everybody else.
• 1:26:11
[UNKNOWN]: And I was like having flashbacks to a company retreat with the psychologists that we did where we had to do all these tests and then talk about our test scores in front of everyone.
• 1:26:23
[UNKNOWN]: And I got like pinned in front of the group and they're showing my, um, they're showing my scores on certain tests and saying like why don't you tell people.
• 1:26:36
[UNKNOWN]: things like that you're smart, and I know this was meant to be a sort of positive confrontational thing where you know just like promote yourself more, but I also knew as soon as that got out to the rest of the company, I was going to become a target.
• 1:26:58
[UNKNOWN]: And that's absolutely what happened that some people just start lashing out at you because they're like, oh, you think you're so special now.
• 1:27:06
[UNKNOWN]: Like, oh, no, no, no.
• 1:27:08
[UNKNOWN]: This is why it's always like, so you just end up hiding yourself more and leaning away from your strengths because you just don't want people to hate you for it and treat you badly for it and get in your way and prevent you from doing the things you want.
• 1:27:30
[UNKNOWN]: That's own, yeah, what a shit company.
• 1:27:33
[UNKNOWN]: It just, I mean, it's, I think it's common.
• 1:27:37
[UNKNOWN]: And I think that, yeah, they're thinking to a lot of people with that.
• 1:27:40
[UNKNOWN]: And it can be for so many different things, you know, any time that you're single-doubted.
• 1:27:46
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, you want to be celebrated.
• 1:27:48
[UNKNOWN]: You want to think that people are celebrated, but often, it does make people a target, and it does make things lonely.
• 1:27:55
[UNKNOWN]: It does make you lonely, or.
• 1:27:56
[UNKNOWN]: And I think that's the scene when I spoke to E, we talked about the movie or whatever.
• 1:28:04
[UNKNOWN]: What my better half and I always trying to do is let him know that he has to find his people.
• 1:28:12
[UNKNOWN]: Once you find your people, they will care for you no matter what.
• 1:28:19
[UNKNOWN]: You know what I mean?
• 1:28:20
[UNKNOWN]: And I think this is for a 10 year old to see that on screen, I think it's really a great thing, because that's what she's basically telling him.
• 1:28:33
[UNKNOWN]: The people who love you,
• 1:28:35
[UNKNOWN]: Well, we always love you, and I don't love you because you're Spider-Man, and I don't love you because you can swing and you have Spidey senses.
• 1:28:42
[UNKNOWN]: And you're just gonna love you because they love you, because of who you are, you know?
• 1:28:47
[UNKNOWN]: And your people will love you, and we have to, in life, find our people, the ones that make us complete.
• 1:28:59
[UNKNOWN]: You know, that you're not competing with each other, that you're not pulling each other down, that you are lifting each other up.
• 1:29:07
[UNKNOWN]: And when you don't have your people, it's fucking terrible, man.
• 1:29:13
[UNKNOWN]: People together, strong, sorry, you're planning to be a different thing.
• 1:29:18
[UNKNOWN]: When you don't have that, it's really tough.
• 1:29:20
[UNKNOWN]: And this is what the movie is saying to me, at least, is that he doesn't have his people around him.
• 1:29:30
[UNKNOWN]: And the less he has his people around them, the harder things are.
• 1:29:35
  [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
• 1:29:37
[UNKNOWN]: So I'm glad at the end of this, he and MJ may not be back together.
• 1:29:42
[UNKNOWN]: And I think I don't think they will be in the next movie.
• 1:29:45
[UNKNOWN]: I think they will be in the third movie.
• 1:29:47
  [UNKNOWN]: My prediction.
• 1:29:48
[UNKNOWN]: But I'm glad that he has Frank.
• 1:29:50
[UNKNOWN]: I'm glad that he has Ned back.
• 1:29:52
[UNKNOWN]: The other end of the month, if he has the wolf, yeah.
• 1:29:57
[UNKNOWN]: you know, and they all even because up until this point, Frank had never seen Peter Parker.
• 1:30:09
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I'm glad Frank has Peter too to be honest because he also knew the Frank-based Peter.
• 1:30:13
  [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
• 1:30:14
  [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
• 1:30:16
[UNKNOWN]: And so it was, yeah, this was a great, great, great sequence.
• 1:30:23
  [UNKNOWN]: in this film.
• 1:30:24
[UNKNOWN]: And I love how genes, extra powers kicked in in the moment, you know, when she was totally unexpected and she was mad and she was angry and she was sad and she was feeling the pain of the loss of what these people did and then boom.
• 1:30:45
[UNKNOWN]: I got this too, you
• 1:30:52
[UNKNOWN]: and how she just ripped the doors open to the room and pulled Metzker in on his chair.
• 1:31:01
[UNKNOWN]: Touch it was, that's a great scene.
• 1:31:04
[UNKNOWN]: Pulled him to her and had the broken shards of glass, like I could kill you at any moment, you know, for what you did to my sister.
• 1:31:14
[UNKNOWN]: and i know people are saying now like oh this is too dark of a green gingray and like no to be honest the on-screen portrayals we've had thus far have not been dark enough and that's a big reason why they've tried it i guess they've tried like three times now to do the dark phoenix story and x-men the original animated series is most successful at it the two live action
• 1:31:42
[UNKNOWN]: we're trying to deny this character her complexity and so I love that we're starting from a place that shows she's operating from a place of hurt she's not a bad person she doesn't want to hurt people and the end you know she saves Peter bat right back after he saves her and you know she doesn't
• 1:32:06
[UNKNOWN]: For the most, I don't think it's someone pointed out the guy who she walks back into traffic that he was sitting around at the end.
• 1:32:13
[UNKNOWN]: I don't know if that's reusing an extra or for supposed to understand he survived.
• 1:32:16
[UNKNOWN]: But if he survived, then she didn't kill anyone that we saw.
• 1:32:24
[UNKNOWN]: Peter, what do we think happens that helicopter pilot after the webs went away?
• 1:32:31
[UNKNOWN]: He might have a higher death count in the film.
• 1:32:34
[UNKNOWN]: You know, I didn't give it a second thought, sorry Mr. Lick up the pilot.
• 1:32:42
  [UNKNOWN]: Red chair number one.
• 1:32:43
[UNKNOWN]: So my somebody get to you, somebody get to them, you know?
• 1:32:47
  [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I'm sure somebody.
• 1:32:48
  [UNKNOWN]: Somebody.
• 1:32:48
  [UNKNOWN]: You said someone.
• 1:32:50
[UNKNOWN]: You know, interestingly enough, I didn't think this was a dark portrayal of Jean.
• 1:32:54
  [UNKNOWN]: Hmm.
• 1:32:55
[UNKNOWN]: You know, I never felt that watching the movie.
• 1:32:57
[UNKNOWN]: I didn't feel like this.
• 1:33:00
[UNKNOWN]: So I'm surprised that, you know, people are saying so that it was too dark of a portrayal because I didn't feel it was dark at all.
• 1:33:10
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I mean, I like that it's complex.
• 1:33:14
[UNKNOWN]: It's not like this Hollywood sanitized.
• 1:33:18
[UNKNOWN]: Oh, she's just a sweet little girl.
• 1:33:21
  [UNKNOWN]: Yes.
• 1:33:22
[UNKNOWN]: She's a real, she feels like a real person who has gone to her and would do anything to save her sister.
• 1:33:30
  [UNKNOWN]: And yeah.
• 1:33:32
[UNKNOWN]: you saw that she didn't have a great childhood for once to her mutation, you know, came out.
• 1:33:41
  [UNKNOWN]: Rejected by her mother.
• 1:33:42
[UNKNOWN]: Rejected by her mother on the run with her sister, you know.
• 1:33:47
[UNKNOWN]: I think it's fine, anything particularly darker about this character.
• 1:33:51
  [UNKNOWN]: No.
• 1:33:51
[UNKNOWN]: I found this character to be hurt, to be in pain, but I didn't see something like... She was a cruel or anything.
• 1:33:55
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I didn't see that.
• 1:33:55
  [UNKNOWN]: I mean, it's like...
• 1:33:56
[UNKNOWN]: Except, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
• 1:34:06
[UNKNOWN]: When she inhabited Mary Jane and had her kiss, Peter.
• 1:34:10
  [UNKNOWN]: Oh, no.
• 1:34:12
[UNKNOWN]: Like that, that's a little... That was cruel.
• 1:34:14
  [UNKNOWN]: That's a little non-consensual.
• 1:34:16
[UNKNOWN]: That was just like that.
• 1:34:17
  [UNKNOWN]: That was cruel.
• 1:34:19
[UNKNOWN]: That was a little double non-consensual.
• 1:34:21
  [UNKNOWN]: That was cruel.
• 1:34:21
[UNKNOWN]: The teenagers in the back of me started crying at the moment that it was revealed that that was natural.
• 1:34:27
  [UNKNOWN]: Oh.
• 1:34:29
  [UNKNOWN]: They were bawling.
• 1:34:32
[UNKNOWN]: They were in absolute tears behind me.
• 1:34:37
[UNKNOWN]: But that definitely was cool.
• 1:34:40
  [UNKNOWN]: I will say that.
• 1:34:41
  [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
• 1:34:43
  [UNKNOWN]: All right.
• 1:34:43
[UNKNOWN]: So we take a break before we get to our finale.
• 1:35:03
[UNKNOWN]: Alright, so now we love you Spider-Man, we really do, Frank rushes Spidey through the hospital waiting area and they operate to save his life, Frank stays by his side to protect his identity, Spidey recovers and has a heart to heart with Frank, that's friends for life, Frank tells Spidey that Jean kept them alive so they could get him to the hospital.
• 1:35:29
[UNKNOWN]: Frank puts on this body mask as stands by the windows so the people can see him while Peter Parker can just walk out of the hospital and into the crowd where he sees how much of an impact emotionally Spider-Man has on the people of New York City.
• 1:35:47
[UNKNOWN]: We learn that mascara has a skate.
• 1:35:49
[UNKNOWN]: That gene is on a road trip somewhere with lots of trees.
• 1:35:53
  [UNKNOWN]: Hudson Valley.
• 1:35:54
[UNKNOWN]: Perhaps looking very upstate New York.
• 1:35:58
[UNKNOWN]: And Peter goes to Aunt May's grave, says he will stop trying to do everything by himself.
• 1:36:05
[UNKNOWN]: He sees Ned in a coffee shop, goes up to him, and they do their handshake, and Ned looks up.
• 1:36:13
  [UNKNOWN]: That's friends for life.
• 1:36:17
[UNKNOWN]: So I thought this was a very satisfying, and we talked a lot about the Frank stuff.
• 1:36:23
[UNKNOWN]: I can't wait to see, because Frank is a different person with Peter, which makes sense, yes, yes, yes, yes.
• 1:36:30
[UNKNOWN]: But I want to see, and so we've also seen Peter interact with not Daredevil, but with Matt Murdoch, who is his lawyer in a previous film.
• 1:36:39
[UNKNOWN]: And obviously Matt Murdoch's in jail right now that it's not a plot hold that he's not in this film, it makes sense.
• 1:36:44
[UNKNOWN]: But I want to see the three of them together and who is Frank when the three of them are together, can he hold onto that softness?
• 1:36:52
[UNKNOWN]: when Daredevil intends a room?
• 1:36:53
  [UNKNOWN]: No, no, no, no.
• 1:36:55
[UNKNOWN]: Matt is like a well of darkness.
• 1:36:59
[UNKNOWN]: You just just pulls you in with all the Catholic guilty, I see just pulls you in.
• 1:37:05
[UNKNOWN]: So speaking of like those original Netflix series, I was really disappointed to learn.
• 1:37:11
[UNKNOWN]: Rosario Dawson said this at Comic Con that her character that she played in all those Netflix shows Claire Temple aka Nightnars.
• 1:37:21
[UNKNOWN]: She was going to be in this film, but her scene was cut.
• 1:37:23
[UNKNOWN]: So I'm presuming that that's how they got like the Frank brought her there because she was working in the hospital and that's how they got like a private room and all that.
• 1:37:34
[UNKNOWN]: And honest, I know it was a long film, but we could have had five more minutes with night nurse.
• 1:37:40
[UNKNOWN]: I didn't feel that long to be able to set their five more minutes.
• 1:37:44
  [UNKNOWN]: I agree.
• 1:37:45
[UNKNOWN]: I was really pissed that to learn that they cut our seeds out of like, why would you do that?
• 1:37:51
[UNKNOWN]: Like, oh, my gosh, this is like, that's such a win to have her in the movie even for two, three minutes.
• 1:37:59
[UNKNOWN]: I thought that was, yeah.
• 1:38:01
  [UNKNOWN]: Oh, yeah.
• 1:38:02
[UNKNOWN]: Maybe they were just about like explaining it to people who didn't watch enough like shows, but doesn't matter.
• 1:38:06
[UNKNOWN]: There's a nurse, Frank knows he can trust.
• 1:38:08
  [UNKNOWN]: Exactly.
• 1:38:09
  [UNKNOWN]: Exactly.
• 1:38:10
[UNKNOWN]: We know who Frank is.
• 1:38:11
[UNKNOWN]: He gets hurt all the damn times.
• 1:38:15
[UNKNOWN]: Somebody has to help him patch up, you know?
• 1:38:17
  [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
• 1:38:18
[UNKNOWN]: And Rosario Dahlson would definitely, that's a, yeah, that's something that, that's a person people want to see on screen, right?
• 1:38:24
[UNKNOWN]: So, anyway, hopefully though this means that they are bringing her back, maybe for Daredevil season three, that would be great for Daredevil boy to get on some.
• 1:38:36
[UNKNOWN]: That would be awesome, so let's see.
• 1:38:39
[UNKNOWN]: How did you feel when Frank was in the window with the mask on, and then all of a sudden, you hear the, yoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
• 1:39:06
[UNKNOWN]: Um, we had reminded me of what we found out was actually canonically Peter Parker as a kid doing that to Iron Man.
• 1:39:15
  [UNKNOWN]: Yes.
• 1:39:16
  [UNKNOWN]: Yes.
• 1:39:16
  [UNKNOWN]: Yes.
• 1:39:18
[UNKNOWN]: That was a great call back.
• 1:39:19
  [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
• 1:39:20
  [UNKNOWN]: Great call back.
• 1:39:21
[UNKNOWN]: I just think that the movie ended like you said, it was, it was just appropriate.
• 1:39:26
[UNKNOWN]: It felt good at the end.
• 1:39:28
[UNKNOWN]: You've gone on this journey with Peter Parker with Spider-Man.
• 1:39:35
[UNKNOWN]: you feel good for him.
• 1:39:39
[UNKNOWN]: And I think that was leaving the theater through the tears and the ups and downs of the emotional beats of the movie that you left the theater feeling good about the character, about where the characters that was really, really top notch.
• 1:40:03
[UNKNOWN]: And what did you think about the post?
• 1:40:06
[UNKNOWN]: I was expecting a bigger post credit scene.
• 1:40:10
[UNKNOWN]: But we just see the Spidey tracker and it's showing like a sighting of Peter and Queens.
• 1:40:14
[UNKNOWN]: But we did see that the Spidey tracker shows old sightings, too.
• 1:40:18
  [UNKNOWN]: So...
• 1:40:20
[UNKNOWN]: then there was a sighting of Spider-Man in space.
• 1:40:26
[UNKNOWN]: So immediate questions there, first of all, who's reporting the sighting, is it Peter doing it himself?
• 1:40:33
[UNKNOWN]: Is this actually like Tom Holland Peter Parker, or is this a different Spider-Man, like people keep expecting Toby McGuire to show back up?
• 1:40:44
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, what do you, what's your take?
• 1:40:53
[UNKNOWN]: I really don't know because there was one thing when it showed in space, I was like, oh, that a world, you know?
• 1:41:06
[UNKNOWN]: But then I'm thinking like, no, it can't be better world because that's like too far away for it to have been better world.
• 1:41:13
[UNKNOWN]: So yeah, I'd like the to be
• 1:41:20
[UNKNOWN]: But again, do you really think that it's going to lead to something?
• 1:41:26
[UNKNOWN]: I think at this point, they are planning a lot more tightly, and so whatever this is, I'm sure either leads in to secret wars and, or the next, we know that it'll be, could be, or an incursion, like someone coming through an incursion, or directly into the next, we know this is gonna be a new trilogy of films.
• 1:41:52
[UNKNOWN]: So I think I mean right now towards the incursion aspect of it, like it's Toby or Andrew Garfield, Spider-Person, Spider-Man.
• 1:42:03
[UNKNOWN]: What if they did the animated Miles Morales?
• 1:42:05
[UNKNOWN]: I think they'll be cool.
• 1:42:07
[UNKNOWN]: Oh, you think they had live action Donald Glover in?
• 1:42:12
  [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, you're right.
• 1:42:15
[UNKNOWN]: I love a Roger Rabbit moment.
• 1:42:21
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, they get if they pull it off carefully.
• 1:42:24
[UNKNOWN]: I just don't know if they would.
• 1:42:27
[UNKNOWN]: I just don't know if they would But I think that would be amazing
• 1:42:33
[UNKNOWN]: So what you were saying that this is, this is, I mean, the title seems to be based on this comic brand new day and I wanted to read it, but I didn't find time for it, but now you're telling me that it's actually completely different stories.
• 1:42:45
[UNKNOWN]: Yes, it's a completely different story.
• 1:42:47
[UNKNOWN]: So Aunt May is Diane Peter makes a deal with Mifisto to erase the happiest day of his life.
• 1:42:56
[UNKNOWN]: Right, he wants people to, at this point of Spider-Man, people with no Peter Parker and Spider-Man, and it causes our mate to be in constant danger.
• 1:43:07
[UNKNOWN]: So he wants that erased.
• 1:43:09
[UNKNOWN]: So Mufisto says, I'll do it, but as something that I want and what I want is you're happiness basically.
• 1:43:17
[UNKNOWN]: So when I do it, you also never have been married to Mary Jane.
• 1:43:25
[UNKNOWN]: So, brand new day, a race is years of Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson's relationship, their marriage is gone, everybody now does not remember that Peter Parker is Spider-Man, so he goes back to having his dual identity and Mary Jane and Peter have not been together in the comic book sense.
• 1:43:54
  [UNKNOWN]: Sideface.
• 1:43:55
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, you know, there's so many people who are, I, I'd be hard pressed to find one person that I talk about comics with who was in favor then on favor now over the eraser of Mary Jane and Peter's marriage in the history that they had.
• 1:44:21
  [UNKNOWN]: Very controversial story point.
• 1:44:25
  [UNKNOWN]: is vitamin lower.
• 1:44:26
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, what's like wonder and vision like how are they still my back to cut their right?
• 1:44:32
  [UNKNOWN]: Right.
• 1:44:35
[UNKNOWN]: Um, yeah, so I mean, you can see the inspiration that this film in, you know, the last also the set up is taking from that, but, um, I, yeah, I'm, that well obviously I'm more invested in this version and, uh, I'm glad I do think this is going to end up with the two of them together.
• 1:44:57
  [UNKNOWN]: I mean, obviously
• 1:44:59
[UNKNOWN]: It's what the story demands.
• 1:45:01
[UNKNOWN]: It's what the fans want.
• 1:45:02
[UNKNOWN]: The damn couples married in real life.
• 1:45:04
[UNKNOWN]: Like, if you get the people what they want, it's okay to do that occasionally, you know?
• 1:45:10
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I mean, this is a, this is a way that's not limiting, like saying, like, oh, we only want certain types of characters.
• 1:45:18
[UNKNOWN]: This is a way that's just, let love live, as I say, on the side of podcast all the time.
• 1:45:28
[UNKNOWN]: We got a piece of feedback from KNW.
• 1:45:30
  [UNKNOWN]: Oh, thank you, Ken.
• 1:45:32
[UNKNOWN]: You want to read it?
• 1:45:33
  [UNKNOWN]: Sure.
• 1:45:34
  [UNKNOWN]: Here we go.
• 1:45:35
[UNKNOWN]: Hello, just sitting here, waiting on post-credit scene, and wanting to let you know, it's my father, the best part of our movie.
• 1:45:43
  [UNKNOWN]: Totally agree, totally agree.
• 1:45:48
[UNKNOWN]: Excitement, thrills, and plenty of tears.
• 1:45:51
[UNKNOWN]: The Punisher and all his glory and show what absolutely love what are the scenes more than any other, yes, okay.
• 1:45:58
[UNKNOWN]: And of course, it's the K-Crocks, right?
• 1:46:01
[UNKNOWN]: Yes, me, the K-Crocks, boys.
• 1:46:05
[UNKNOWN]: Anyway, can't wait to hear your thoughts.
• 1:46:07
[UNKNOWN]: Straight to my number one movie of the year so far.
• 1:46:11
  [UNKNOWN]: You're never alone.
• 1:46:13
  [UNKNOWN]: Can't love you.
• 1:46:14
[UNKNOWN]: Thank you for the weekend.
• 1:46:15
[UNKNOWN]: And yes, that was my most love scene.
• 1:46:20
[UNKNOWN]: Out of any scene that I've seen this year.
• 1:46:23
[UNKNOWN]: Outside of two to the guts went to the face.
• 1:46:26
  [UNKNOWN]: Cole.
• 1:46:28
[UNKNOWN]: This is right up there.
• 1:46:30
[UNKNOWN]: This is top one and two.
• 1:46:32
  [UNKNOWN]: Yes.
• 1:46:34
[UNKNOWN]: So, okay, we know, obviously this is setting up toward X-Men.
• 1:46:39
[UNKNOWN]: And as you were saying, it's cool to see that Spider-Man will be playing a direct role in this new mutant saga, very pivotal role in it.
• 1:46:49
[UNKNOWN]: But as far as the mutants themselves, we know obviously Sadie Sink is Jean Gray.
• 1:46:55
  [UNKNOWN]: Great, we've seen that.
• 1:46:56
  [UNKNOWN]: Great, perfect casting, welcome.
• 1:47:06
[UNKNOWN]: and Samara weaving as Emma Frost.
• 1:47:10
[UNKNOWN]: What do you think of these castings?
• 1:47:12
[UNKNOWN]: Um, yeah, they don't bother me.
• 1:47:16
[UNKNOWN]: Oh, um, I sound wham waiting to hear.
• 1:47:19
  [UNKNOWN]: I know.
• 1:47:20
  [UNKNOWN]: Well, okay.
• 1:47:21
[UNKNOWN]: So we're here about that.
• 1:47:23
[UNKNOWN]: I'll comment on these real quick.
• 1:47:25
  [UNKNOWN]: I don't.
• 1:47:25
  [UNKNOWN]: I'm not a, I haven't watched heartstopper yet.
• 1:47:29
[UNKNOWN]: So, and I know that that's what people love Kate Connor from.
• 1:47:32
[UNKNOWN]: So I'm not as familiar with him, but I'm excited to see this.
• 1:47:35
[UNKNOWN]: I think he, he looks the part of I guess.
• 1:47:38
  [UNKNOWN]: Some are weaving.
• 1:47:39
[UNKNOWN]: I know her a lot better from like
• 1:47:44
[UNKNOWN]: can't imagine a more perfect Emma Frost casting.
• 1:47:47
[UNKNOWN]: It is interesting that she's a bit older than the other two.
• 1:47:51
[UNKNOWN]: I don't know how that will play into storylines from the comics.
• 1:47:55
[UNKNOWN]: But let's jump to, I think, you're most interested in hearing about storm.
• 1:48:01
  [UNKNOWN]: Yes.
• 1:48:02
[UNKNOWN]: I think a lot of people are.
• 1:48:04
[UNKNOWN]: There's been lots of rumors, but I don't know.
• 1:48:07
[UNKNOWN]: Do you have any news?
• 1:48:08
[UNKNOWN]: Lots of rumors, that's a rumors.
• 1:48:09
[UNKNOWN]: I'm totally down with the main rumor.
• 1:48:14
[UNKNOWN]: And who play pearly sentence from sinners?
• 1:48:16
  [UNKNOWN]: Yes, yes.
• 1:48:17
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I could say that.
• 1:48:19
  [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
• 1:48:21
  [UNKNOWN]: Just do that.
• 1:48:23
  [UNKNOWN]: I could see that.
• 1:48:24
  [UNKNOWN]: Just do that.
• 1:48:25
  [UNKNOWN]: I could see that.
• 1:48:26
[UNKNOWN]: We talked about some of the other rumors in our Supergirl when we were talking about the Marvel news at the beginning.
• 1:48:33
[UNKNOWN]: So I won't repeat those, but there is new rumors.
• 1:48:36
[UNKNOWN]: I don't know how founded they are that from season two of beef,
• 1:48:41
[UNKNOWN]: Charles melt which who by the way like has a lot has a lot of crossover behind the camera with the new X-Men film.
• 1:48:49
[UNKNOWN]: So this is another reason this could be true.
• 1:48:51
[UNKNOWN]: But they're saying Charles meltin as beast and Kaylee Spani as rogue.
• 1:48:57
[UNKNOWN]: Now we had talked about maybe what's a face indie
• 1:49:09
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I don't, I mean, this could this could be a good crew coming together.
• 1:49:13
  [UNKNOWN]: I don't know.
• 1:49:14
[UNKNOWN]: I think the others are not far enough along to really comment.
• 1:49:18
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, but D23, the annual Disney showcase is the 14th, which the 14th is Friday of this week.
• 1:49:28
  [UNKNOWN]: Yes, this week.
• 1:49:30
[UNKNOWN]: So I think this Friday is D23.
• 1:49:38
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I'm excited for that.
• 1:49:39
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I think there's going to be some good announcements.
• 1:49:42
[UNKNOWN]: And they're going to go in with confidence with these barter men numbers.
• 1:49:46
  [UNKNOWN]: Oh, yeah.
• 1:49:47
  [UNKNOWN]: Oh gosh.
• 1:49:48
[UNKNOWN]: And if they were planning on going to the side.
• 1:49:50
[UNKNOWN]: I was going to say, and in the little nouns, we reversed our Wonder Man reversal.
• 1:49:56
  [UNKNOWN]: Sorry, just kidding.
• 1:49:58
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, we reversed our to tell the junior.
• 1:50:01
[UNKNOWN]: No, I like that one.
• 1:50:05
  [UNKNOWN]: I like David Johnson.
• 1:50:06
[UNKNOWN]: I'm just saying David Johnson is the child of no junior attached.
• 1:50:10
[UNKNOWN]: Fine, but it makes sense to me that they want to keep the story intact.
• 1:50:14
[UNKNOWN]: Let's show some respect for the Peter Nungo and her romance with, and now we have a situation where we can have a new child of, there's rumors, by the way.
• 1:50:24
[UNKNOWN]: Did you hear this that storm might be introduced in Black Panther 3?
• 1:50:29
  [UNKNOWN]: I don't want that.
• 1:50:30
[UNKNOWN]: I mean, they did have childhood friendship, and then she can go off and do her X-Men thing, but she did.
• 1:50:36
  [UNKNOWN]: She is from Africa.
• 1:50:38
[UNKNOWN]: I know, but raised in Harlem.
• 1:50:42
  [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
• 1:50:42
[UNKNOWN]: You know, from... And she's from... She grew up in Cairo.
• 1:50:45
  [UNKNOWN]: Really?
• 1:50:45
  [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
• 1:50:46
  [UNKNOWN]: Baby.
• 1:50:47
[UNKNOWN]: But they knew each other as kids.
• 1:50:49
  [UNKNOWN]: No, I know.
• 1:50:49
  [UNKNOWN]: It's teens.
• 1:50:50
  [UNKNOWN]: They did.
• 1:50:51
  [UNKNOWN]: I'm not disagreeing.
• 1:50:54
[UNKNOWN]: I just don't want that.
• 1:50:55
  [UNKNOWN]: Okay.
• 1:50:56
[UNKNOWN]: I want her origin, story to me.
• 1:50:58
[UNKNOWN]: I want that a little bit and mutant them.
• 1:51:00
[UNKNOWN]: To tell the junior can wait.
• 1:51:02
[UNKNOWN]: She will still be a mutant.
• 1:51:04
[UNKNOWN]: I know, but I want that story to be- But I don't want the romance to kick off right away.
• 1:51:08
[UNKNOWN]: I don't mind her being introduced there.
• 1:51:11
  [UNKNOWN]: It'll be okay.
• 1:51:12
[UNKNOWN]: All right, so that's different from what I was just thinking about.
• 1:51:15
[UNKNOWN]: Being introduced and being in the movie proper, two different things.
• 1:51:20
  [UNKNOWN]: Okay.
• 1:51:21
[UNKNOWN]: Like the way Jean Grey was introduced to you.
• 1:51:24
[UNKNOWN]: Yes, okay, I can see that.
• 1:51:27
[UNKNOWN]: I want to remind you, okay.
• 1:51:29
[UNKNOWN]: No, yeah, I would be upset if they immediately got married or something that wouldn't make sense to me.
• 1:51:34
[UNKNOWN]: But they can establish, I would like her established as, because I do even though I'm sitting here as a white girl, I've always been a storm lover and lover of her comics.
• 1:51:46
[UNKNOWN]: And I love most actually the comics where she goes back to Africa, to Kenya, to Egypt,
• 1:51:55
[UNKNOWN]: and brings Wayne, Wayne, you know, and people look upon her as a goddess which she is.
• 1:52:02
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, a mega level mutant.
• 1:52:04
[UNKNOWN]: They said so in X-Men 97 less season.
• 1:52:07
[UNKNOWN]: No, they said so in the comics.
• 1:52:10
[UNKNOWN]: So yeah, she's really the portrayals that we've gotten on from the movies or other.
• 1:52:18
[UNKNOWN]: definitely not standard to who she is in the literature that she has in the comics.
• 1:52:25
  [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, yeah.
• 1:52:27
  [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I didn't.
• 1:52:28
[UNKNOWN]: I didn't love the what they did with Halle Berry.
• 1:52:31
  [UNKNOWN]: I don't think it's Halle Berry's fault, I think.
• 1:52:33
[UNKNOWN]: No, it's just the circumstances of how they wrote her character.
• 1:52:38
[UNKNOWN]: I think actually in the first movie, she was the most like storm and then they gave her a mom
• 1:52:49
[UNKNOWN]: But yeah, he next week, switching to DC and Lantern starts.
• 1:52:55
[UNKNOWN]: Yes, Lantern starts on Sunday, this comments on day.
• 1:52:59
[UNKNOWN]: So that's going to be exciting.
• 1:53:01
[UNKNOWN]: I'm really, really looking for it to this.
• 1:53:05
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I can't wait to see what they've given us.
• 1:53:09
  [UNKNOWN]: Because nothing.
• 1:53:18
[UNKNOWN]: The marvellous marvellous Jane gun is on this impression, you know, because Wonderman, you know, for Daredevil, Spider-Man, that's, you know, you gotta come up with something.
• 1:53:37
[UNKNOWN]: You gotta come up with something, and I think they're putting a lot of chips on the table with this lantern TV show.
• 1:53:45
[UNKNOWN]: So hopefully, you know, it is what they expect it to be.
• 1:53:51
[UNKNOWN]: Because I think there's a lot of writing on this TV show.
• 1:53:55
[UNKNOWN]: Fairly or unfairly, I think there's a lot of writing on the TV show.
• 1:53:59
  [UNKNOWN]: I'm excited for it.
• 1:54:01
  [UNKNOWN]: Yep.
• 1:54:02
[UNKNOWN]: And then that leads right into what's next in the MCU.
• 1:54:05
[UNKNOWN]: uh... vision quest sometime in the fall yeah it starts the week after lanterns right it says it's supposed to release the first episode on October 14th 14th yeah we'll stay tuned we'll definitely be covering that as well of course and then doomsday of course on the 18th of December yeah uh... at this stage do you want to stay do you want to prep for that
• 1:54:31
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, yeah, I think we should figure that out as we get because we'll probably because of when it releases, we'll see how we have to do with recording it, but obviously the holidays complicate things.
• 1:54:43
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, yeah, that's right because the holidays, that's right.
• 1:54:46
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, because we might do a prep in an after-fact, well, we'll let you all know as we get closer.
• 1:54:51
  [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
• 1:54:52
[UNKNOWN]: Thank you for our lanterns and vision quest coverage, and X-Men.
• 1:54:56
[UNKNOWN]: And then if you have any feedback first, you want to say hi.
• 1:55:01
[UNKNOWN]: We love your podcasts, we love your voices, you want to leave us a voice note so we can hear your voices.
• 1:55:07
[UNKNOWN]: You can send in anything or note an email that comics versus at thelorhounds.com.
• 1:55:17
  [UNKNOWN]: Yep.
• 1:55:17
[UNKNOWN]: And yeah, you'll find that link in the show notes and also a link to our discord where we have a forum for Marvel.
• 1:55:24
[UNKNOWN]: We have another forum for DC.
• 1:55:26
[UNKNOWN]: We have forums for everything else that we're covering currently you and David are just I guess we should say you you guys are doing the season finale for yes for House of the Dragon.
• 1:55:40
[UNKNOWN]: But yeah, it's been fun to follow along with, you and I did the first couple episodes together with them, the rest of the season.
• 1:55:47
[UNKNOWN]: I've gotten to be the spectator.
• 1:55:49
[UNKNOWN]: And that's, yeah, it's been fun to watch you live your best life with a two to the gut went to the face.
• 1:55:57
[UNKNOWN]: This is so smells a lot.
• 1:56:02
[UNKNOWN]: We're coming for you next.
• 1:56:04
[UNKNOWN]: I haven't watched the finale yet, by the way.
• 1:56:05
  [UNKNOWN]: Oh, you have it.
• 1:56:06
  [UNKNOWN]: No, no.
• 1:56:08
[UNKNOWN]: Because it just came out as the day that we're recording here.
• 1:56:11
[UNKNOWN]: So hopefully, I can squeeze it out.
• 1:56:14
[UNKNOWN]: I'll wait to hear what you thought so much about.
• 1:56:16
  [UNKNOWN]: Okay.
• 1:56:17
  [UNKNOWN]: All right.
• 1:56:18
[UNKNOWN]: I'll pop into the discord.
• 1:56:19
[UNKNOWN]: So if anyone else wants to pop into the discord, share their thoughts on that.
• 1:56:23
[UNKNOWN]: Then you will find that also in the link tree in the show notes, where you'll also find links to the affiliate network podcasts like my own will shift dust.
• 1:56:33
[UNKNOWN]: We are currently in the throes of silo and I have to say episode seven comes out on this Friday.
• 1:56:42
  [UNKNOWN]: I've seen it.
• 1:56:43
  [UNKNOWN]: I love it.
• 1:56:44
[UNKNOWN]: I was so excited by it and I think it's just going to be we all the way downhill to mind-blowing finale if I'm assuming things based on the books.
• 1:56:56
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I mean, I know you're mad about certain characters, but I like, well, all right.
• 1:57:05
[UNKNOWN]: I, I, you know that I want radical forgiveness when there's contrition shown and I think they've been doing interesting things with that this season, but also I need some, even as a book reader, there are some mysteries I need answers to right now.
• 1:57:23
[UNKNOWN]: Radical forgiveness is definitely big brain, potato stuff, okay?
• 1:57:37
[UNKNOWN]: I mean, the important thing is when there's contrition, when there is actual a desire to be forgiven, you know, you have to take on the responsibility for what you've done before you expect forgiveness.
• 1:57:49
  [UNKNOWN]: That's important.
• 1:57:50
  [UNKNOWN]: But anyway,
• 1:57:51
[UNKNOWN]: So you can hear us talk about more stuff like that over on WillShift Dust where we are currently covering silo.
• 1:57:57
[UNKNOWN]: Also, check out Dungeons & Doe Rags is also covering a house of the dragon from a different, much more chaotic, less book, um, yeah, let's lower.
• 1:58:09
[UNKNOWN]: dive version, shooting from the hip.
• 1:58:16
[UNKNOWN]: Never mind the music, of course, where the psychology meets music, they are nearing the end of their third season already, going quickly.
• 1:58:24
[UNKNOWN]: And the new Cosmere Corner, which is covering the Brandon Sanderson books, I'm following around the first two episodes are out, so I have started, they finally got me to start a non-wheel of time Brandon Sanderson book and I'm doing it and I'm allowed to do the same.
• 1:58:44
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, and we should say the Dungeons & New Rags and Cosmere Corner are also both video podcasts, so you can watch them on YouTube if you want.
• 1:58:54
[UNKNOWN]: And we just released our super girl finally as we talked about.
• 1:58:57
  [UNKNOWN]: Yes, we did.
• 1:58:58
[UNKNOWN]: We talked about super girl.
• 1:59:00
[UNKNOWN]: But just yeah, if you enjoy this, the best thing that you can do to help us is to share it with other people.
• 1:59:08
[UNKNOWN]: Who you think will enjoy this as well.
• 1:59:10
  [UNKNOWN]: Get the word out.
• 1:59:11
[UNKNOWN]: Get more people involved in the listening and the conversations.
• 1:59:16
[UNKNOWN]: Nice reviews wherever you're listening.
• 1:59:18
[UNKNOWN]: Help a lot too, of course.
• 1:59:21
[UNKNOWN]: If you want to go the extra mile, then there's a supercast in Patreon feeds, which same content both feeds But that's where you get ad-free access to all these episodes plus bonus episodes.
• 1:59:33
[UNKNOWN]: We got behind on the July bonus episodes because It's indeed too hot to lower this hot lower summer.
• 1:59:39
  [UNKNOWN]: Oh gosh
• 1:59:41
[UNKNOWN]: So you're gonna have coming up in quick succession.
• 1:59:45
[UNKNOWN]: My wine episodes that were scheduled for July, and then we're diving into August immediately, which is John's one type of leave.
• 1:59:53

• 2:01:50
  [UNKNOWN]: Hey, you still there?
• 2:01:52
[UNKNOWN]: As I mentioned at the beginning of the episode, since it took me a while to get this one edited, we have since actually gotten those D23 announcements that were being teased.
• 2:02:04
[UNKNOWN]: Now, John's currently away on vacation, but he did kindly send in a voicemail with his reactions to the X-Men castings.
• 2:02:12
[UNKNOWN]: So let's take a listen to that and then I'll be back to fill in some more of the details and share my own thoughts.
• 2:02:19
[UNKNOWN]: So, what's going on, everyone?
• 2:02:24
[UNKNOWN]: D23 has come and gone, and we've had the X-Men cast news that I was certain Fagee would give to us, and Alicia, I know you've been waiting as I've been waiting for Storm Casting News.
• 2:02:42
[UNKNOWN]: And we got the storm casting news, my boy cast it at storm, forgive me.
• 2:02:48
[UNKNOWN]: That's the only person that I can recall their names at this moment because I'm on vacation.
• 2:02:57
[UNKNOWN]: But I will say that I am just really happy with the choices that they made and that I don't know the majority of the cast that they've announced so far.
• 2:03:13
[UNKNOWN]: This, to me, is the right way to go if you're not going to use well-known absolute, you know, A list there is or close to A listers, as these characters, then give the people new faces to get to know and love.
• 2:03:30
  [UNKNOWN]: So I'm ecstatic about
• 2:03:33
[UNKNOWN]: that choice that they've gone away from trying to give us the people that we already know and are now in the business of marketing and making unknown faces known.
• 2:03:46
  [UNKNOWN]: This is tremendous.
• 2:03:48
[UNKNOWN]: The last thing I'll say is Adam Driver, as Mr. Sinister, I think is a perfect casting.
• 2:03:55
[UNKNOWN]: Sinister is such a great character, and I really feel that Adam Driver can bring something to the character, much akin to what I saw Nicholas Cage do in Spider-Noir.
• 2:04:09
[UNKNOWN]: The reason why I say that is because Sinister can be a real campy type of character, if you
• 2:04:17
[UNKNOWN]: There's so many nuances that someone who's playing the role can achieve with sinister.
• 2:04:24
[UNKNOWN]: You can have such fun with his overall demeanor, the way that he sees the world, the way that he talks to people, the way that he talks about people, and the things that he does.
• 2:04:37
[UNKNOWN]: So, I'm very happy with Adam Driver because I think he can bring that level of camp if allowed to the screen as this character.
• 2:04:48
[UNKNOWN]: So overall, X-Men news, I'm going to keep it really short to that.
• 2:04:55
[UNKNOWN]: Other things happen at D23, but for us, it's all about the X-Men right now.
• 2:05:01
[UNKNOWN]: And those are the things we'll talk about them later on.
• 2:05:04
  [UNKNOWN]: Alright, peace out.
• 2:05:07
[UNKNOWN]: So, okay, just to run through this is the cast that we know of so far for the X-Men movie.
• 2:05:13
[UNKNOWN]: Again, as we said before, already confirmed we're Sadie Sink, best known as Max from Stranger Things.
• 2:05:20
[UNKNOWN]: You saw her in this movie we just discussed in this episode already as Jean Gray.
• 2:05:25
[UNKNOWN]: And we already had confirmed Kit Connor, who's best known from heart stopper, who plays the canonical love of Jean Grey's life, Scott Summers, aka Cyclops, and a character whom I was previously corrected as not shooting lasers from his eyes, but rather energy from the punch dimension.
• 2:05:47
[UNKNOWN]: We also had previously cast Samara Weaving, whom you might know from the radio or not movies and she will be Emma Frost.
• 2:05:55
[UNKNOWN]: The woman who can crystallize herself and is a sometimes antagonist of the X-Men, most often associated with the Hellfire Club.
• 2:06:04
[UNKNOWN]: And sometimes is in a love triangle with the other two characters I just mentioned.
• 2:06:09
[UNKNOWN]: And, of course, we did already know Jake Schreier was going to be the director.
• 2:06:14
[UNKNOWN]: He was there on stage for this announcement as well as we mentioned in this episode.
• 2:06:19
[UNKNOWN]: He was also the director of Thunderbolt, so I'm very excited to see what he does with an X-Men story.
• 2:06:25
[UNKNOWN]: But then added to these four people on stage, we got a few new announcements.
• 2:06:31
[UNKNOWN]: Jean mentioned on the villain side, probably the most expensive and high-profile casting is Adam Driver as and he introduced himself as Nathaniel Milberry, which is an alias in the comics of Dr. Nathaniel Essex, aka Mr. Sinister.
• 2:06:50
[UNKNOWN]: So, in my opinion, Mr. Sinister is probably one of the best X-Men villains, if you want a taste of what he's all about, I would say, see, especially the, it's pretty much a stand-alone flashback episode to the Victorian era in the original X-Men animated series from the 90s.
• 2:07:10
[UNKNOWN]: So, a season 5 episode 12 titled Descent, that episode gives great insight into, yeah, this long-lived, immortal characters, eugenics forward ways in his destructive quest to create the perfect mutant.
• 2:07:28
[UNKNOWN]: And he's shown back up in X-Men 97 as well.
• 2:07:32
[UNKNOWN]: Jean also mentioned Maya Boyd as Aurora Monroe, aka Storm.
• 2:07:37
[UNKNOWN]: So obviously, he's talking about James Lawson.
• 2:07:39
[UNKNOWN]: This was a rumored, more high profile casting.
• 2:07:42
[UNKNOWN]: Maya Boyd is actually the least known of the cast announcements.
• 2:07:47
[UNKNOWN]: She has a background in theater, but I'll say she certainly looks the part.
• 2:07:52
[UNKNOWN]: And the Instagram Reels have the algorithms been doing its thing and I've been seeing clips of her on stage and she certainly has the acting chops and can sing.
• 2:08:03
  [UNKNOWN]: And I'm wish on.
• 2:08:04
[UNKNOWN]: I'm all about let's introduce new iconic people.
• 2:08:09
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, this is a great place to
• 2:08:12
[UNKNOWN]: it doesn't need to be a who's who's already famous.
• 2:08:16
[UNKNOWN]: It's about finding the best people for the role in giving them a platform to, yeah, to tell these stories and grow their own career.
• 2:08:24
[UNKNOWN]: I'm sure in the process.
• 2:08:25
[UNKNOWN]: So I'm very excited to see my a boy as my Jean's co, one of our favorite characters for both of us, Storm.
• 2:08:34
[UNKNOWN]: Um, we also talked previously about Indy Navaretti, the best part of the movie, Obsession, who hasn't de-joined the cast, but it turns out as rogue.
• 2:08:43
  [UNKNOWN]: And honestly, this works.
• 2:08:46
[UNKNOWN]: Um, I was getting on board with the whole Kiki Palmer casting idea, but I understand they're skewing a bit younger.
• 2:08:55
  [UNKNOWN]: And, um,
• 2:08:56
[UNKNOWN]: I, I can definitely, I can see this and can't wait to see what she does with the role, haven't heard her Southern accent.
• 2:09:03
[UNKNOWN]: So that will be interesting.
• 2:09:05
[UNKNOWN]: And then we also got our Charles Xavier aka Professor X who is maybe the most surprising of the casting announcements in a way.
• 2:09:14
[UNKNOWN]: He's going to be played by Christopher Abbott who's best known for roles in girls
• 2:09:23
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I mean, this is the one I think where people are most scratching their head a little bit at the vision, but obviously they saw something in him for this role, and I can't wait to see what it is, although it will be a shame for him to lose all that nice curly hair.
• 2:09:41
[UNKNOWN]: Um, we're definitely going to be getting more castings for this movie as we get closer to it's the movie's not been titled yet.
• 2:09:51
[UNKNOWN]: It's gonna hit theaters May 5th, 2021.
• 2:09:54
[UNKNOWN]: So that does mean it will be out before Black Panther 3, which comes out in December, 2021.
• 2:09:58
[UNKNOWN]: I for one though would still find it fun if Storm showed up in Black Panther and Black Panther 3 as well, but makes
• 2:10:11
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, as far as the other castings, the rumor mill will still be rumor milling, we know Charles Melton and Kaylee Spani, the rumors for them is Beast and Rogue.
• 2:10:21
  [UNKNOWN]: Obviously didn't pan out.
• 2:10:22
[UNKNOWN]: Now we have a different Rogue and Melton has officially passed.
• 2:10:27
[UNKNOWN]: So who else are they going to bring in?
• 2:10:29
[UNKNOWN]: It will be fun to see.
• 2:10:31
[UNKNOWN]: In addition to these casting announcements, we also got new trailers released for Vision Quest, which looks absolutely awesome.
• 2:10:38
[UNKNOWN]: We know it's going to be released October 14th.
• 2:10:43
[UNKNOWN]: Now, really hoping this is a weekly release.
• 2:10:46
[UNKNOWN]: I don't see why it wouldn't be, but since they haven't said the words yet, it's...
• 2:10:50
[UNKNOWN]: difficult to confirm that for certain.
• 2:10:52
  [UNKNOWN]: We'll let you know.
• 2:10:53
[UNKNOWN]: And then we also got a new trailer for Doomsday coming out the end of this year.
• 2:10:57
[UNKNOWN]: Of course, I'll put a link in the show notes to the official Marvel page of these announcements with those trailers embedded in it as well.
• 2:11:05
[UNKNOWN]: And some other smaller announcements for Marvel from D23 as well.
• 2:11:11
  [UNKNOWN]: So, enjoy!
• 2:11:12
[UNKNOWN]: Happy Marvel times, and I'll see you soon for X-Men 97.
• 2:11:17
[UNKNOWN]: And tune in for Jean and David covering this week, the new lanterns episode has released at the time that I'm editing this episode and recording this post-gript.
• 2:11:28
[UNKNOWN]: Haven't gotten to see it yet, but I'm seeing nothing but rave reviews.
• 2:11:33
[UNKNOWN]: So excited to sync my teeth into this one.
• 2:11:35
  [UNKNOWN]: See you there!
