Speaker 3: here we are back after a very long off season.
• 1:17
Speaker 3: We saw Lane Lambert hired as new head coach for
• 1:20
Speaker 3: the Seattle Kracken, two new assistants and Chris Taylor along
• 1:24
Speaker 3: with Aaron Steeklaw the wins of change blowing through Seattle
• 1:28
Speaker 3: once again. And you can really tell early on by
• 1:31
Speaker 3: the structured defensive style that McCracken want to play.
• 1:35
Speaker 1: It's going to be very hard to outwork this team
• 1:38
Speaker 1: on a nightly basis.
• 1:39
Speaker 4: Yeah, you can see it right from the beginning of
• 1:40
Speaker 4: training camps. You can see it in the preseason games
• 1:43
Speaker 4: that we witnessed. You can see it to morning skates.
• 1:46
Speaker 4: The style, the barking on the ice, the intensity of
• 1:49
Speaker 4: the practice es, all of that's going to carry over right.
• 1:52
  Speaker 1: Into these games.
• 1:53
Speaker 3: Some big addition to the Seattle Kraken in the offseason,
• 1:56
Speaker 3: Mason marsh spent Freddie Gadrou up front, Ryan Lindrin on defense,
• 2:00
Speaker 3: Matt Murray between the playoffs. Also, you're welcoming Berthany Catton
• 2:05
  Speaker 3: to the NHL.
• 2:05
Speaker 1: He is on the season opening.
• 2:07
Speaker 3: Roster, Ryan Winterton and Yannie Newman while they played NHL
• 2:11
  Speaker 3: games before.
• 2:12
Speaker 1: This is their first season opening roster.
• 2:14
Speaker 3: As well, So some exciting new faces and the future
• 2:18
Speaker 3: of the crack and.
• 2:19
Speaker 1: Getting ready to be on this play this season.
• 2:20
Speaker 4: Yeah, those guys you just talked about making steps forward
• 2:23
Speaker 4: in their career. Obviously, kat And being the youngest of
• 2:25
Speaker 4: them at eighteen years old coming out of junior last season.
• 2:29
Speaker 4: Exciting for him to be on that roster from day one,
• 2:31
Speaker 4: looking forward to seeing what he can add to this team.
• 2:34
Speaker 4: In the case of Yannie Newman, we've seen what he
• 2:36
Speaker 4: can add this team both last season and in the preseason.
• 2:40
Speaker 4: Four goals to assist his big shot to coming out
• 2:44
Speaker 4: in preseasons, but also scoring in some other ways, which
• 2:46
Speaker 4: was which great, which was great. Ryan Wichmand's good to
• 2:49
Speaker 4: play that tough, you know, gritty winger role. He can
• 2:52
Speaker 4: bring it offensively as well, but I'm looking for him
• 2:55
Speaker 4: to play that physical game also.
• 2:57
Speaker 1: And on the other side of the red line.
• 2:58
Speaker 3: The Anaheim Ducks, very much like the Seattle Dracken, investing
• 3:02
  Speaker 3: in their future.
• 3:03
Speaker 1: Jackson Leacombe becoming the highest.
• 3:06
Speaker 3: Paid Anaheim Dutch player in franchise history, going in to
• 3:10
Speaker 3: just his second full time season. But this was an
• 3:12
Speaker 3: Anaheim DUTs team that last year they were in it
• 3:16
Speaker 3: until they were out of it. And this is a
• 3:18
Speaker 3: team that a lot of bobs feel under new head
• 3:20
Speaker 3: coach Joel Flinnville, who's.
• 3:21
Speaker 1: Back in the NHL after a three year suspension.
• 3:24
Speaker 3: He's the man to take this young team to that
• 3:28
Speaker 3: next level, which for them is a playoffs.
• 3:30
  Speaker 5: In Orts County.
• 3:31
Speaker 4: Absolutely, a new coach and as you said, they've got
• 3:33
Speaker 4: some youth on this team. They added some new players
• 3:35
Speaker 4: in Crider Palin Granlin. These are guys that are going
• 3:39
Speaker 4: to help them offensively. They struggled a little bit on
• 3:42
Speaker 4: their special teams last year. I've got to believe that's
• 3:44
Speaker 4: a lot of the reason for bringing guys to that caliber.
• 3:46
Speaker 3: And feels good to be bad Colem and it feels
• 3:48
Speaker 3: good to toss it down to Mike Benton. After this

• 7:14
Speaker 11: Kracking Hockey. Welcome back here to the cors Light Landing
• 7:17
Speaker 11: in section twenty. Mike Benton with you glad you're hanging
• 7:20
Speaker 11: out here with us These two teams, like the Rest,
• 7:23
Speaker 11: at their first game of the season, begin of course,
• 7:25
Speaker 11: undefeated the Cracking last year thirty five forty one and
• 7:29
Speaker 11: six seventy six points and looking to improve on a
• 7:32
Speaker 11: spot where they were twenty points out of a playoff spot.
• 7:34
Speaker 11: Anaheim last season thirty five, thirty seven and ten not
• 7:38
Speaker 11: much better on their side, they had eighty points just
• 7:41
Speaker 11: for ahead of the Crack and so both teams trying
• 7:44
Speaker 11: to build for this year with this game is all
• 7:47
Speaker 11: about it's all about starting over and starting new. On
• 7:50
Speaker 11: the Cracking side, they had missed the playoffs and back
• 7:53
Speaker 11: to back season, so for their first game under GM
• 7:56
Speaker 11: Jason botterol Ron Francis also moving to the role of
• 7:58
Speaker 11: President of Hockey Operation. It's a new beginning here for
• 8:01
Speaker 11: the Kraken and head coach Lane Lambert, who was hired
• 8:05
Speaker 11: from this past summer. As far as game matters, the
• 8:08
Speaker 11: Crack and are searching for their first win in franchise
• 8:11
Speaker 11: history for a season opener. That record right now stands
• 8:14
Speaker 11: three to one the Crack and last year losing to
• 8:17
Speaker 11: Saint Louis three to two, and the Crack in that
• 8:19
Speaker 11: game led to nothing before Saint Louis scored three unanswered goals.
• 8:24
Speaker 11: But for Lane Lambert, his debut is coming up here.
• 8:27
Speaker 11: It is the fifth teamiest coach for in the NHL,
• 8:30
Speaker 11: either as a head coach or assistant coach. Last year
• 8:33
Speaker 11: was on Toronto's bench and a part of that for
• 8:36
Speaker 11: his work, their defense tied for eighth two point nine
• 8:40
Speaker 11: goals per game and they got to the second round
• 8:42
Speaker 11: of the Stanley Cup playoffs. And for him it's also
• 8:44
Speaker 11: his second NHL head coaching job, previous top with the
• 8:47
Speaker 11: New York Islanders. And for whatever now mention, he is
• 8:51
Speaker 11: all about structure, details, discipline and defense. So how can
• 8:56
Speaker 11: the Kraken yet get more production out of their offense?
• 8:59
Speaker 11: Maddie Beni, Shane Wright, Jordan Eberley, Jayden Schwartz, Fin's done,
• 9:03
Speaker 11: Brandon Montour, Ellie Tolbinen and Moore? Can they get the
• 9:06
Speaker 11: twenty goals or more for that collective effort for the crack?
• 9:10
Speaker 11: And they're beginning this schedule on a two game homestand
• 9:12
Speaker 11: tonight it's Anaheim. Saturday, it's Vegas after that doesn't get
• 9:17
Speaker 11: any easier. A six game trip which also includes Montreal
• 9:20
Speaker 11: and their home opener, a tough place to play year
• 9:23
Speaker 11: after year, game after game Ottawa, Toronto, Philadelphia, Washington, and Winnipeg.
• 9:30
Speaker 11: And then of course after that, the next home game
• 9:31
Speaker 11: for the Crack and they take on Edmonton, the two
• 9:34
Speaker 11: time defending Western Conference champions, that being two Saturdays from now,
• 9:38
Speaker 11: so plenty of Eastern Conference playoff teams plus Winnipeg and
• 9:41
Speaker 11: the Micks coming up here for what should be a
• 9:43
Speaker 11: very challenging portion of the Kraken schedule. They finish a
• 9:47
Speaker 11: preseason three to two and one, not too shabby. Yannie
• 9:50
Speaker 11: Newman was their preseason leading score He had four goals
• 9:53
Speaker 11: and five points in five games. So what can he
• 9:56
Speaker 11: do here for his first game with this team? As
• 9:59
Speaker 11: he made the roster. Goaltending is also going to be
• 10:01
Speaker 11: a three goaltender operation. Joey Decourt had a strong preseason,
• 10:05
Speaker 11: turning into nine three fourths say percentage in three games.
• 10:08
Speaker 11: He was three to zero. Philip Grupbauer, who will back
• 10:10
Speaker 11: him up tonight, nine two to five say percentage in
• 10:13
Speaker 11: two games. Matt Murray also making the opening night roster
• 10:16
Speaker 11: nine to two zero say percentage and a pair of
• 10:19
Speaker 11: games as well. The lineup getting to full health now,
• 10:22
Speaker 11: Brandon Montour and Jared mccannon didn't play in a preseason
• 10:26
Speaker 11: game yet. They will play tonight and we'll see the
• 10:29
Speaker 11: season debut as well of youngsters like Yonny Newman as
• 10:32
Speaker 11: we said, plus Ryan Winterton, and also players new to
• 10:35
Speaker 11: the full like forward's Mason march Ment and Freddie Gudreaux,
• 10:37
Speaker 11: plus defenseman Ryan lin Gren Berthley Canton made the roster
• 10:42
Speaker 11: will he won't play this evening. He'll be a healthy
• 10:44
Speaker 11: scratch TBD on his debut, but we have heard from
• 10:47
Speaker 11: the Kraken and head coach Lane Lambert the future is
• 10:50
Speaker 11: certainly bright for him. Joey decort as we said, you're
• 10:53
Speaker 11: starting goaltender. Next win for him, the fiftieth for his
• 10:57
Speaker 11: NHL career. One of seven players, by the way, still
• 11:00
Speaker 11: hear from the expansion draft, so still a little bit
• 11:02
Speaker 11: of a holdover from season one. Trying to carry you
• 11:06
Speaker 11: have more results here for this season. Last year career
• 11:09
Speaker 11: high fifty seven games, two shutouts twenty seven to twenty three,
• 11:14
Speaker 11: and five record against the Ducks. This will be meeting
• 11:17
Speaker 11: one of four if they won't play again until December
• 11:20
Speaker 11: twenty second and Anaheim. Yet the Ducks also come here twice.
• 11:23
Speaker 11: Next time back here will be January twenty third, with
• 11:26
Speaker 11: a Kraken trying to build on a nine to four
• 11:28
Speaker 11: and one record against the Ducks. Your cracking story lines
• 11:31
Speaker 11: first off, begin with the debut of head coach Lane
• 11:34
Speaker 11: Lambert and can the Kraken get a win for him
• 11:36
Speaker 11: this evening. He is one of nine new head coaches
• 11:38
Speaker 11: this year in the NHL. Matter of fact, faces another
• 11:41
Speaker 11: one this evening in Joel Quinnville. The Lambert also aiming
• 11:44
Speaker 11: for his first win in a debut situation with the Islanders.
• 11:48
Speaker 11: They lost to Florida to begin the twenty twenty two
• 11:50
Speaker 11: and twenty three season by a score of three to one.
• 11:53
Speaker 11: Second story line the debut of three new faces in
• 11:56
Speaker 11: the cracking lineup. Mason Marchman, coming off a twenty two
• 12:00
Speaker 11: goals last season second straight year. They got him in
• 12:02
Speaker 11: a trade from Dallas in June. Freddie Gudreaux also new
• 12:05
Speaker 11: upfront eighteen goals last year for the while they got
• 12:08
Speaker 11: him from Minnesota as well in June. Plus Ryan Lindgren
• 12:12
Speaker 11: previously last year with the Colorado Avalanche and for much
• 12:16
Speaker 11: of his career the New York Rangers. He signed a
• 12:18
Speaker 11: four year deal for the first day of free agency
• 12:21
Speaker 11: on July one, final storyline getting Brandon Montor and Jared
• 12:26
Speaker 11: mccannon in motion, neither playing in preseason due to injuries.
• 12:30
Speaker 11: Montor undergoing ankle surgery before can to remove a versus sack,
• 12:34
Speaker 11: and also McCann trying to find his way back to
• 12:37
Speaker 11: health here and be productive from the get go. Montor
• 12:40
Speaker 11: last season, by the way, a career high eighteen goals
• 12:43
Speaker 11: and in forty one points. McCann just twenty two goals
• 12:47
Speaker 11: last season, his lowest as he had fourteen in forty
• 12:50
Speaker 11: three with Pittsburgh five years ago, so he's looking to
• 12:53
Speaker 11: regain the forum similar to what he had for a
• 12:55
Speaker 11: forty goal campaign back in twenty Twenty two and twenty
• 12:59
Speaker 11: three are more from the Kraken and the Captain. This morning,
• 13:02
Speaker 11: Jordan Eberley was sharing more and what the Crack and
• 13:05
Speaker 11: are looking for from the get go.
• 13:07
Speaker 13: Yeah, I mean assure there's gonna be a lot of
• 13:08
Speaker 13: energy in game one. There's always some excitement.
• 13:11
  Speaker 7: You know.
• 13:12
Speaker 13: We've been waiting, I think since last Wednesday to play,
• 13:14
Speaker 13: so I see us. You know, we're playing with some
• 13:17
Speaker 13: excitements of jam. I think the biggest thing is to
• 13:19
Speaker 13: try to stick to our system, you know, in order
• 13:22
Speaker 13: for us to win hockey games, we would have to
• 13:23
Speaker 13: be structured, and we're gonna have to, uh, you know,
• 13:26
Speaker 13: play on the right side of the fucking and uh, you.
• 13:28
Speaker 14: Know, limit our mistakes.
• 13:29
Speaker 13: So you know, as long as that energy and that
• 13:31
Speaker 13: passions there, which I know will be you know, trying
• 13:34
Speaker 13: and use our brains a little bit and play that
• 13:35
  Speaker 13: play the system.
• 13:37
Speaker 11: Here's more from Eberly and what the crack and are
• 13:39
Speaker 11: looking for in regards to that lockdown approach.
• 13:42
Speaker 13: I mean, we've harped on structure, We've harped on you know,
• 13:45
Speaker 13: discipline and talk management, those certain things, and you know
• 13:48
Speaker 13: the reality of our situation and that we those are
• 13:51
Speaker 13: the type of games that we have to play and.
• 13:53
Speaker 4: In order to win.
• 13:54
Speaker 13: So I mean, we have an identity as far as
• 13:55
Speaker 13: the pace that we want to play with and the
• 13:58
Speaker 13: uh you know, the fiscal.
• 14:00
Speaker 11: And the fuck battle of will and all that stuff.
• 14:02
Speaker 13: But you know, I think you can't really know until
• 14:06
Speaker 13: you know live bolts are coming at you. So obviously
• 14:09
Speaker 13: we get an opportunity here tonight to do that and
• 14:11
Speaker 13: we look forward to it.
• 14:13
Speaker 11: And Brandon Montor sees a similar opportunity as well, and
• 14:15
Speaker 11: earlier this week at practice, he talked about a big
• 14:18
Speaker 11: difference with a Laine Lambert team and how they move.
• 14:21
  Speaker 14: That's a Temples album at a well, I think you're
• 14:24
Speaker 14: going to get a different brand for sure, and you'll
• 14:26
Speaker 14: notice that from the start. But again for me, I
• 14:29
  Speaker 14: think it's well whenever I start, you know, I haven't
• 14:32
  Speaker 14: played yet, but I'll keep a simple and I don't

• 17:34
Speaker 11: we said, out of the playoffs seven straight years that yet,
• 17:37
Speaker 11: is this the year they take? The next big step
• 17:40
Speaker 11: is they're talking about the playoffs for this year with
• 17:43
Speaker 11: a new head coach as well, all surrounding a massive
• 17:45
Speaker 11: youth movement. Jackson Lacombe part of that eight year extension
• 17:49
Speaker 11: he signed earlier last week. Olin Zelweger, the former Everett
• 17:52
Speaker 11: Silver tip cutter, got Jia, who at one point said, quote,
• 17:56
Speaker 11: We're here to make the playoffs end quote. Mason mctavis
• 17:59
Speaker 11: signing an eight year extension. Leo Carlson's second overall pick
• 18:02
Speaker 11: in twenty twenty three back in Seneca, third overall last year.
• 18:07
Speaker 11: They have a lot going for them right now as
• 18:09
Speaker 11: far as potential. Their preseason had a four to two
• 18:12
Speaker 11: to one record. Lacombe was a scoring leader. He had
• 18:14
Speaker 11: six points in four games, all on assist and man,
• 18:17
Speaker 11: he's saying he's got a bright future back on that
• 18:20
Speaker 11: blue line for the Ducks. It is a high mind.
• 18:23
  Speaker 18: Aim.
• 18:23
Speaker 11: My name is kind of nine that deals with veterans, youth,
• 18:26
Speaker 11: and the coaching staff as well as far as the youth,
• 18:29
Speaker 11: Seneca in line of makers NHL debut, the veterans, newcomers,
• 18:33
Speaker 11: we'll see me, Kyle Granlin, Chris Kreider, Ryan Paling, also
• 18:37
Speaker 11: Peter Morozik suiting up a part of this, but he'll
• 18:40
Speaker 11: back up Lukash dostall in net. But who's brought the
• 18:43
Speaker 11: most attention that is behind the bench in new head
• 18:46
Speaker 11: coach Joel Quinnville. He is the twelfth head coach now
• 18:49
Speaker 11: in Duck's history, succeeding Greg Cronin three Stanley couverings to
• 18:54
Speaker 11: his name, all with Chicago second, winning his coaching league history.
• 18:57
Speaker 11: But also it's his first head coaching job since twenty
• 18:59
Speaker 11: two twenty one, twenty two, and he takes over an
• 19:02
Speaker 11: Anaheim team that led the league in points from skaters
• 19:05
Speaker 11: twenty one age or years old and younger as well.
• 19:10
Speaker 11: So a lot of you that are trying to get
• 19:13
Speaker 11: moving in the right direction your Duck story lines. First off,
• 19:15
Speaker 11: begin with Beckett Seneca's NHL debut last year won the
• 19:19
Speaker 11: OHL title with Oshawa eighty six point campaign. He said, mom,
• 19:23
Speaker 11: dad and sister will be here in attendance, So a
• 19:26
Speaker 11: big night for him and a big jump for him
• 19:28
Speaker 11: here to the NHL tonight, he'll be on the second
• 19:31
Speaker 11: line with Cuttergauchier and Mason McTavish. The second story line
• 19:34
Speaker 11: the new debuts for veterans, most notably Chris Kreider against
• 19:38
Speaker 11: the Krack and he's got five points at eight games
• 19:40
Speaker 11: in his career. Can the Kraken slow him down? He's
• 19:43
Speaker 11: still very much an offensive threat, coming off seven straight
• 19:46
Speaker 11: years of twenty goals or more now with age thirty four,
• 19:50
Speaker 11: the Ducks getting him in a trade with the Rangers
• 19:52
Speaker 11: back in June. That's you're more from Anaheim and the
• 19:56
Speaker 11: coach Joel Quimville said, the first day is all about
• 19:58
Speaker 11: the emotion of many nights excited.
• 20:01
Speaker 6: I always find the first game in the regular season,
• 20:03
Speaker 6: the first playoff game.
• 20:04
Speaker 3: I got a little bit excited, and I can feel
• 20:07
  Speaker 3: it already today.
• 20:07
Speaker 6: It's like, you know, it's the butterflies first day of school, first.
• 20:10
  Speaker 5: Day and you know, a meaningful game. It's a It's
• 20:14
Speaker 5: great to be back and great to get started.
• 20:16
Speaker 11: Here's Chris Kreider is saying. The Ducks are pretty direct
• 20:19
Speaker 11: with how they want.
• 20:19
Speaker 4: To play, very uptemple very in your face.
• 20:23
Speaker 19: When we have the puck, we want to keep it.
• 20:26
Speaker 14: You're thick, kind of like every team is probably talking
• 20:28

• 20:30
Speaker 14: don't want to give up any time in space when
• 20:31

• 22:52
Speaker 3: Alconiski riding Shotgun Game one of eighty two Kracking and
• 22:56
Speaker 3: the Anaheim dup Seattle three to two and one in
• 22:59
Speaker 3: the pre season al As you and I know, those
• 23:01
  Speaker 3: games absolutely matter.
• 23:03
Speaker 1: But here's the kracket.
• 23:05
Speaker 3: We'll have gone eight to one in one of their
• 23:07
Speaker 3: last ten games against the Anaheim Ducks, but they struggled
• 23:10
Speaker 3: last year just one and two in their at three meetings.
• 23:13
Speaker 1: Seattle needs to get off to a.
• 23:15
Speaker 3: Strong start in the Lane Lambert era and they need
• 23:17
Speaker 3: a strong showing here tonight on home ice.
• 23:20
Speaker 1: Tell us, mister Kensky, how they can get it done well.
• 23:23
Speaker 4: First of all, you've got to control the blue line
• 23:25
Speaker 4: and the transitions. With Ryker Evans out long term, Seattle's
• 23:29
Speaker 4: back end will need to compensate generating clean breakouts. Supporting
• 23:33
Speaker 4: the defenseman in transition and limiting odd man rushes will
• 23:36
Speaker 4: be essential to control those zone entries. Secondly, get production
• 23:40
Speaker 4: from top forward early. The top two lines of McCann,
• 23:43
Speaker 4: Benier's and Everley, along with Schwartz Right and Twelveland have
• 23:46
Speaker 4: to lead the offensive charge. Getting production from them early
• 23:49
Speaker 4: and often will put Anaheim on their heels. It we'll
• 23:51
Speaker 4: set Seattle up for a win. And then, third, speaking
• 23:54
Speaker 4: of winning, win in net and manage the special teams.
• 23:58
Speaker 4: The Ducks team had a league leading seven to twenty
• 24:00
Speaker 4: plus score goalscorers last season, three of whom are twenty
• 24:03
Speaker 4: two years or older younger, including Cutter Goutier, Frank Vitronto,
• 24:07
Speaker 4: and Leo Carlson. So the expected starter, Joey Decord will
• 24:12
Speaker 4: have his hands full in a tall order to keep
• 24:14
Speaker 4: puck's out in front of him. On the other hand,
• 24:16
Speaker 4: Anaheim's power play finished at the bottom of the league
• 24:18
Speaker 4: at eleven point eight percent, but they will be better
• 24:20
Speaker 4: this year, just like Seattle's will be, So there'll be
• 24:23
Speaker 4: a battle on the power play side. They'll also be
• 24:25
Speaker 4: a battle on the penalty kill side. The penalty kill
• 24:27
Speaker 4: for Franaheim was seventy four point two percent near the
• 24:30
Speaker 4: bottom of the league as well. Both teams are expecting
• 24:33
Speaker 4: to prove improve in both areas. That will be a
• 24:35
Speaker 4: battle tonight. Tonight Seattle goes looking for their first home
• 24:39
Speaker 4: older within the first four years. If they can control
• 24:43
Speaker 4: the blue line and transition to get production from their
• 24:45
Speaker 4: top forward to early win in net and on special teams,
• 24:49
Speaker 4: they'll grab two points from this first game of their
• 24:51
  Speaker 4: fifth season.
• 24:52
  Speaker 7: Yeah.
• 24:52
Speaker 3: Heard Jordan Everley and Brandon Montour earlier in the pregame
• 24:55
Speaker 3: show served out by Boscar of course night talking about
• 24:58
Speaker 3: Laint Lambert and the style in which this team wants
• 25:01
Speaker 3: to play a number of guys that we've talked to
• 25:04
Speaker 3: and that we've seen on the ice.
• 25:06
Speaker 1: It seems like each player is responding well to it.
• 25:09
Speaker 1: They enjoy the high intensity of the high pace, something
• 25:12
Speaker 1: that I feel like we've been waiting to see here
• 25:15
  Speaker 1: at Sea. Yeah.
• 25:16
Speaker 4: I think players like it when you hold them accountable, man,
• 25:19
Speaker 4: And you know how you hold them accountable is obviously
• 25:21
Speaker 4: different with different coaches, But I think they like that
• 25:23
Speaker 4: because when you see it happening with everybody, you realize
• 25:26
Speaker 4: everybody's on the same page. Everybody's held to that same standard.
• 25:30
Speaker 4: And when you break from that standard pretty soon what
• 25:33
Speaker 4: starts happening is it's not the coach saying it, it's
• 25:35
Speaker 4: fellow players going, hey, we need more from you here.
• 25:38
Speaker 1: So I like that a lot.
• 25:39
Speaker 3: Nol Berkeley Catton in the lineup. His NHL debut will
• 25:42
Speaker 3: have to wait. But Ryan Winterton, Yanni Newman not in
• 25:46
Speaker 3: their NHL debuts, but the first time they're making a
• 25:49
Speaker 3: season opening roster, and it really seems at the crack
• 25:52
Speaker 3: and are gonna lean in a lot on that youth
• 25:55
Speaker 3: movement this year, in addition to a pretty good group
• 25:58
Speaker 3: of Corvettes that have been added either this pass offseason
• 26:01
Speaker 3: or have been here one of seven players from that
• 26:04
  Speaker 3: inaugural season.
• 26:05
Speaker 4: Yeah, Winterton on that right side with Stevenson in the
• 26:07
Speaker 4: middle of Marchmen on the other side, he'll have some
• 26:10
Speaker 4: offensive opportunities tonight. I think he'll also be able to
• 26:13
Speaker 4: play a physical role play a big game, much like
• 26:15
Speaker 4: Marchman could do in front of the net. So it'll
• 26:17
Speaker 4: be interesting to see how those two switch out offensively
• 26:19
Speaker 4: in terms of that net front presence. And then with
• 26:22
Speaker 4: Jannie Newman on that forward line with Kartshan and goodrou
• 26:26
Speaker 4: we talked to coach a little bit about this coach
• 26:28
Speaker 4: Lane Lambert. He wants to see Yanni Newman's game be
• 26:31
Speaker 4: a two hundred foot game. We saw his one hundred
• 26:34
Speaker 4: and fifty foot game, or even one hundred foot game
• 26:36
Speaker 4: from the blue line in the kid can score goals.
• 26:39
Speaker 4: I think he wants to see the rest of it
• 26:40
Speaker 4: and be responsible in his oe en, get pucks off, bards,
• 26:44
Speaker 4: win battles, play a big game, and I think you'll
• 26:46
Speaker 4: see him start to move back up the lineup.
• 26:48
Speaker 3: Just how important is this first game of the season
• 26:52
Speaker 3: of the Lane Lambert era.
• 26:54
Speaker 1: I mean, is would you call this a must win game?
• 26:57
  Speaker 16: Hour?
• 26:57
Speaker 1: Is this one of those must perform well games at
• 27:02
  Speaker 1: a minimum?
• 27:02
  Speaker 12: Well?
• 27:02
Speaker 4: I won't put my coaches hat on, because coaches never
• 27:04
Speaker 4: say it's a must win game.
• 27:05
  Speaker 1: But JT.
• 27:06
Speaker 4: Brown and I were talking before the game, and you
• 27:08
Speaker 4: know you got you got Anaheim tonight, you got Vegas
• 27:11
Speaker 4: on Saturday, and then you won a six game road trip,
• 27:13
Speaker 4: a six game road trip against some very difficult teams.
• 27:16
Speaker 1: What you don't want to do is going to that
• 27:18
Speaker 1: road trip zero two.
• 27:19
Speaker 4: Now, if you end up one and one, okay, not
• 27:21
Speaker 4: the best, but but you can accept that Obviously the
• 27:24
Speaker 4: best is two and oh. So that Vegas game is
• 27:26
Speaker 4: not gonna be an easy one, which means this is
• 27:28
Speaker 4: the one you gotta wink as you said, must win,
• 27:32
Speaker 4: gotta win, however you want to phrase it, this is
• 27:34
Speaker 4: the one you should get.
• 27:35
Speaker 1: I want to correct you. Two and oh is not
• 27:37
Speaker 1: the best. Actually the best is Mike bett Oh. Yes,
• 27:41
Speaker 1: Mike Big, but he can go three and oh in
• 27:43
Speaker 1: only two games. Yes, Mike Bettany, I don't know what game.
• 27:45
Speaker 3: Mike Betton needs one game to go eighty two and
• 27:48
Speaker 3: oer and win the championship. Mike Benson, he's back on
• 27:51
Speaker 3: the course light landing Section twenty.
• 27:53

• 30:38
Speaker 11: You're standing by with head coach Lane Lambert.
• 30:41
Speaker 16: We are here with crackenhead coach Lane Lambert.
• 30:43
  Speaker 1: Lane.
• 30:43
Speaker 19: You've made it through your first training camp. What did
• 30:47
Speaker 19: you learn about this team from day one to where
• 30:51
Speaker 19: we are now going into the official day one of
• 30:53
  Speaker 19: the season.
• 30:54
Speaker 25: Yeah, I think, uh, you know, there was a there
• 30:57
Speaker 25: was and is a thirst to get better by each
• 31:01
Speaker 25: and every player and by the entire.
• 31:02
Speaker 1: Group as a whole.
• 31:04
Speaker 25: They're a good group, good people, which is which.
• 31:08
  Speaker 1: Is step one.
• 31:09
Speaker 25: And I thought training camp was successful in the sense
• 31:12
Speaker 25: that we we really embraced what we're trying to do
• 31:16
Speaker 25: as best we possibly can. Again, I continue to say,
• 31:19
Speaker 25: it's you know, it's a game of mistakes, so we
• 31:21
Speaker 25: will make some mistakes. But as long as we, you know,
• 31:24
Speaker 25: continue to build on that foundation, and they've done a
• 31:28
Speaker 25: good job of doing that, you know we'll be We'll
• 31:31
Speaker 25: be fine. And so I guess just an overall commitment
• 31:35
Speaker 25: from the group, starting with their summer training and everything too.
• 31:38
Speaker 19: Right now, a lot of coaches will say that it's
• 31:41
Speaker 19: still going to be a work in progress. Your your
• 31:43
Speaker 19: training camp, your preseason, then your first ten games of
• 31:46
Speaker 19: the year. What are you still looking for out of
• 31:49
Speaker 19: this group as they embark on tonight against Anaheim? Where
• 31:52
Speaker 19: do you feel this team stands in terms of what
• 31:55
Speaker 19: they do really well and maybe some areas that you'd
• 31:57
Speaker 19: like to see short up as we move through the
• 31:59
Speaker 19: first few weeks of the season.
• 32:00
  Speaker 5: Yeah, that's a good question.
• 32:02
Speaker 25: Again, I'm no different than anyone else that you said
• 32:05
Speaker 25: say it's a work in progress. It clearly has to
• 32:08
Speaker 25: be training camps short but certainly, you know, there's things
• 32:13
Speaker 25: that I like about our game. There's things that we
• 32:14
Speaker 25: have to continue to improve on our game. I'd like
• 32:17
Speaker 25: to see us, you know, our gaps be better. You know,
• 32:20
Speaker 25: we attack more thought in the preseason we sort of
• 32:23
Speaker 25: got on our heels a little bit at times through
• 32:25
Speaker 25: the neutral zone, so that's got to be better. But certainly,
• 32:28
Speaker 25: I think with our transition mentality from defense to offense,
• 32:33
Speaker 25: I think we've done a pretty good job of that,
• 32:34
Speaker 25: and we have to continue.
• 32:36
Speaker 26: To build on that.
• 32:37
Speaker 1: What's the message to this group going in the game?
• 32:39
Speaker 25: One have fun, you know, because you're everybody's like up tight, nervous,
• 32:45
Speaker 25: whatever it might be. Just go play, don't overthink it,
• 32:49
Speaker 25: go play and then just enjoy it. Sometimes that's easier
• 32:52
Speaker 25: said than done. The beginning of the season, everyone's in
• 32:54
Speaker 25: the first place. Everyone's goal is the Stanley Cup and
• 32:57
Speaker 25: to get to the playoffs. And I would imagine the
• 32:59
Speaker 25: crack or no different. But for you, what do you
• 33:02
Speaker 25: feel would make this a successful season? Are you a
• 33:06
Speaker 25: long term vision type of personal or is this is
• 33:09
Speaker 25: this genuinely a one day at a time, one game
• 33:11
Speaker 25: at a time mindset that you'd like to try to
• 33:14
Speaker 25: instill in this group. I think you just have to
• 33:16
Speaker 25: take it one day at a time. You know, at
• 33:19
Speaker 25: the end of the day, you're you're right, everybody has
• 33:22
Speaker 25: these these thoughts and hopes and takes you all the
• 33:27
Speaker 25: way into April or whatever. But you just have to
• 33:30
Speaker 25: focus on the daily, the daily grind, I guess, so
• 33:34
Speaker 25: to speak, of the daily process, and then eventually, you know,
• 33:38
Speaker 25: the aprils or whatever, the maze take care of themselves, right,
• 33:41
Speaker 25: So just looking to get just looking to get better
• 33:44
Speaker 25: every day and continue to improve. I think success will
• 33:48
Speaker 25: be measured by a number of different scales, and you know,
• 33:53
Speaker 25: we'll see as we go forward. But that's right off
• 33:55
  Speaker 25: the bat, that's.
• 33:56
Speaker 7: What we're looking for.
• 33:57
Speaker 11: That's that coach Lane Lambert and is a nog role
• 34:00
