- 0:00Speaker 1: I'm staring and playing guitar in Punk Rock Factory. This is.
- 0:05Speaker 2: I'm Peach, I sing and I also play guitar in
- 0:08Speaker 2: punk Rock Factory. We are coming to Australia in November.
- 0:13Speaker 2: We're doing in what are we doing? Melbourne, Adelaide, Sydney
- 0:20Speaker 2: and Brisbane?
- 0:22Speaker 3: Not in not in that order, Not in that order though,
- 0:25Speaker 3: does you say?
- 0:26Speaker 4: Punk Rock Factory have just announced the best tour name
- 0:29Speaker 4: I've ever heard? The Moral wom Bat twenty twenty five
- 0:32Speaker 4: was raight November for those that initiated to Punk Rock Factory, guys,
- 0:38Speaker 4: tell us a bit about you is what you can
- 0:40Speaker 4: expect from your life.
- 0:40Speaker 2: To say, fun, it's always a laugh man. Our shows
- 0:48Speaker 2: are I mean, the main word I would call them
- 0:51Speaker 2: is ridiculous, to be honest. Like it's full of guilty
- 0:56Speaker 2: pleasure tracks and just good sing along stuff and like
- 1:01Speaker 2: we do play a lot of like cartoons and TV
- 1:03Speaker 2: stuff and Disney stuff, but we're not I wouldn't say
- 1:07Speaker 2: we're a child orientated band. We're not the Wiggles, Like
- 1:12Speaker 2: do you know what I mean? Like I do swear
- 1:16Speaker 2: a lot when it's an all ages show. I really
- 1:19Speaker 2: do try not to, but fuck it it's their own fact.
- 1:21Speaker 2: They brought the kids up, you get but yeah, like
- 1:27Speaker 2: it's it's it's chaos is.
- 1:29Speaker 3: Fun, like we just were do you know what?
- 1:31Speaker 2: Like we love being there and appreciate being there just
- 1:35Speaker 2: as much as the fans do. The fact that the
- 1:38Speaker 2: that people turn up night after night to come and
- 1:41Speaker 2: watch us piss about on stage for an hour and
- 1:43Speaker 2: a half, like it's it's fucking great. And like I
- 1:46Speaker 2: think that comes across and it like we just we
- 1:49Speaker 2: just beam in the whole time. We have such a
- 1:51Speaker 2: laugh like that, the banter with the crowd. It's it's
- 1:56Speaker 2: almost just like as if you're just in a room
- 1:57Speaker 2: with a load of mats and everyone's involved in one's
- 2:00Speaker 2: having to laugh and chipping in, you know.
- 2:01Speaker 3: I mean it's that that's the vibel Our shows.
- 2:03Speaker 4: Like yeah, I was actually gonna ask you about that
- 2:06Speaker 4: with the crowds, Like how interactive is it with the crowd?
- 2:08Speaker 4: I can imagine your show like yours would be a
- 2:10Speaker 4: lot of a lot of engagement.
- 2:13Speaker 2: Always like one of us, one of us will end
- 2:16Speaker 2: up talking to someone in the crowd and then all
- 2:18Speaker 2: of a sudden it becomes a thing and we'll bring
- 2:20Speaker 2: people up on stage, and like, yeah.
- 2:22Speaker 3: There's there's loads of elements.
- 2:24Speaker 2: To the show where like we just love getting the
- 2:26Speaker 2: crowd involved. It's just it's just fun.
- 2:29Speaker 1: It's one of the main parts of the show because
- 2:31Speaker 1: it would be a ship gig if we just went
- 2:32Speaker 1: out and played the songs and then went home. Like,
- 2:35Speaker 1: we need to bunce off the crowd. So when they
- 2:37Speaker 1: bring their game, we're on fire. Then it's just it
- 2:40Speaker 1: just feeds off each other. And yeah, it's a massive
- 2:43Speaker 1: part of the show.
- 2:44Speaker 4: When you talking about bringing you a gra what's your
- 2:47Speaker 4: a game? What do we need to do over here
- 2:48Speaker 4: to make you guys go off your fucking chips.
- 2:51Speaker 1: Be loud, shout at us, and you know it'll be nice. Yeah,
- 2:56Speaker 1: it's just good, just just yeah, absolutely.
- 3:03Speaker 2: Like the thing is, like it's as much as we
- 3:05Speaker 2: appreciate anyone that comes to our shows, when you when
- 3:08Speaker 2: you hit a show, when you're doing a run of
- 3:10Speaker 2: shows and you hit that one show and the crowd is.
- 3:13Speaker 3: Like subdued and they just kind of like yeah.
- 3:17Speaker 2: And then you know, you finish a song and it's
- 3:19Speaker 2: all a bit a bit quiet, and it's like like, oh,
- 3:22Speaker 2: this is difficult to bounce off. I got nothing to
- 3:24Speaker 2: bounce off, because so much of what we do and
- 3:26Speaker 2: what we say on stage is completely improvised, like nothing
- 3:30Speaker 2: is planned. It's different every single night, and to have
- 3:35Speaker 2: the interaction and the energy from from the crowds really
- 3:39Speaker 2: just gives.
- 3:40Speaker 3: Us stuff to jump on and spin you know, and
- 3:43Speaker 3: and spin off.
- 3:43Speaker 1: You know.
- 3:44Speaker 4: Yeah, essentially, you guys play ninety nineties, two thousand starle
- 3:49Speaker 4: pump rock, but you don't limit yourself the songs from
- 3:52Speaker 4: that ear of day you played.
- 3:54Speaker 1: Anything, Yeah, anything that we think works mammal second in
- 3:58Speaker 1: the next and oh there's a lot of stuff that
- 4:01Speaker 1: we've tried and it hasn't worked, and there's a lot
- 4:03Speaker 1: of things that we didn't think would work and we
- 4:06Speaker 1: love it. So yeah, anything, anything's at risk.
- 4:12Speaker 4: They're just to put in perspective for people listening or
- 4:14Speaker 4: watch it, like you do everything from Michael Jackson, The Abbot,
- 4:17Speaker 4: Bluie's Aid Disney, Like, are there any sort of forms
- 4:21Speaker 4: or styles of music that are more difficult to do
- 4:24Speaker 4: than others?
- 4:26Speaker 1: Disneyney Disney was insane. When you when you start breaking
- 4:32Speaker 1: that down and you like you look at the core
- 4:34Speaker 1: progression just now you straight up you know, for core
- 4:36Speaker 1: punk rock songs Disney and the musical theater stuff was
- 4:40Speaker 1: wild to kind.
- 4:41Speaker 3: Of work out.
- 4:43Speaker 2: They're like classically scored so that there's absolutely no conventional
- 4:49Speaker 2: sort of pop or punk rock progressions within them.
- 4:53Speaker 3: So it's hard.
- 4:54Speaker 2: But then they always well ninety nine cents of the time,
- 4:57Speaker 2: they always come out being.
- 4:58Speaker 3: Class like we love them becau because they're so mental.
- 5:01Speaker 3: But ones that are.
- 5:03Speaker 2: Easy to do but always for us always end up
- 5:07Speaker 2: being a bit ship is like stuff that's stuff, stuff
- 5:11Speaker 2: that's already alternative. Yeah, so like you know, you start
- 5:16Speaker 2: dipping into I don't know whatever, Nirvana, Metallica, Green, you know,
- 5:20Speaker 2: like anything that's already got a bit of punk to
- 5:23Speaker 2: it or that kind of alternative rock feel. It's really
- 5:26Speaker 2: hard to make it anything else because we're not a
- 5:30Speaker 2: million miles away from that genre anyway. So you just
- 5:34Speaker 2: you just end up being a covers band. Then you're
- 5:37Speaker 2: just covering the song as opposed to rewriting the song
- 5:40Speaker 2: and making it a whole new thing.
- 5:42Speaker 1: You know, and you can't be perfected with.
- 5:46Speaker 3: You you could have a better drummer, you know, you.
- 5:50Speaker 4: Change one letter in drama and its drama, but what
- 5:58Speaker 4: would the What's sensual says some breaking day on the
- 6:01Speaker 4: original solve and putting your speed on it, like people
- 6:03Speaker 4: that are musically flying, how do you do it?
- 6:08Speaker 1: So there's actually this really cool bit of software. There's
- 6:10Speaker 1: loads of them now. Back in a couple of years ago,
- 6:12Speaker 1: there was one software there was kind of Spearhead, and
- 6:15Speaker 1: then it's called Noises and you can stick any song
- 6:18Speaker 1: through there and it'll separate the drum track, the bass track,
- 6:22Speaker 1: the vocals, and the guitars, so you get like six
- 6:25Speaker 1: or seven stems of this song and you can move
- 6:26Speaker 1: them then. So what we'll do is put that through
- 6:31Speaker 1: our daw or like studio software, and we'll just break
- 6:35Speaker 1: it all down so I can just isolate the bass
- 6:37Speaker 1: and guitar, so I can hear the chord structure when
- 6:39Speaker 1: PG needs to work out the vocal melody. If there's
- 6:41Speaker 1: something hidden in there, you can just isolate there. And
- 6:44Speaker 1: then we'll start putting mini drums over the top of
- 6:46Speaker 1: all that and just kind of MIDI drums, computer drums
- 6:50Speaker 1: for those who are on initiated, and then we'll just
- 6:53Speaker 1: start layering guitars on it and all working from home
- 6:57Speaker 1: and bringing all together and then see it all fits.
- 7:01Speaker 3: Yeah, Like the.
- 7:03Speaker 2: First thing is to structure it out in it, so
- 7:05Speaker 2: like we strip it down and moises and then it's
- 7:08Speaker 2: to it's to work out a sort of structure for it,
- 7:10Speaker 2: a basic structure like what temper we're putting it out,
- 7:13Speaker 2: We speed it up, we slow it down, whatever it's
- 7:15Speaker 2: going to be, and then it's like, right, how is
- 7:18Speaker 2: this song going to blow? So that's why we allls
- 7:20Speaker 2: do the drums first, so we can kind of structure
- 7:22Speaker 2: it out and get a vibe for it.
- 7:23Speaker 3: And then Yes starts chutting.
- 7:25Speaker 2: Guitars down and then assume as there's guitars on it,
- 7:27Speaker 2: he chucks it up to me and we got some
- 7:28Speaker 2: vocals on it and decide whether we like it or not.
- 7:34Speaker 4: Can you actually know when you've got to ride though,
- 7:36Speaker 4: like when you change an original song or something of
- 7:38Speaker 4: your own. How do you know at that point where yep,
- 7:40Speaker 4: that's we've got a way we need it. You know,
- 7:42Speaker 4: we don't have to go any further.
- 7:46Speaker 3: It's usually at the point of guitars in it.
- 7:49Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, you could, you could, You can structure
- 7:52Speaker 2: it out with drums and you kind of you can
- 7:54Speaker 2: kind of get a vision in your head of how
- 7:57Speaker 2: it's going to come together and how it's going to sound.
- 7:59Speaker 3: But then as soon as as soon as the guitars
- 8:02Speaker 3: go on.
- 8:03Speaker 2: It, even if it's just basic, just a basic rhythm guitar,
- 8:06Speaker 2: it doesn't need any fluff on it.
- 8:07Speaker 3: You can kind of sit back and just be like,
- 8:09Speaker 3: this is boring, man.
- 8:11Speaker 1: Like what we've what we've noticed is like we were
- 8:14Speaker 1: trying to do stuff. There was viol at the time, hope,
- 8:16Speaker 1: and now we're pop on TikTok and you put a
- 8:18Speaker 1: drum track down, it's like, ah, this sounds slamming, and
- 8:20Speaker 1: then you've got to put the guitars down and you
- 8:22Speaker 1: realize what these pop songs is like one chord through
- 8:26Speaker 1: the whole verse or the chord progression for the verse,
- 8:29Speaker 1: and the chorus is exactly the same. So while the
- 8:31Speaker 1: drums might be a little said Jude, then the chorus
- 8:34Speaker 1: they lift up. When you do that in punk rock,
- 8:37Speaker 1: it's like if the chord structures are the same, it's
- 8:39Speaker 1: so hard to make that go. Anyways, the amount of
- 8:41Speaker 1: times you put guitars on boring pissed now it's pretty simptimes.
- 8:48Speaker 2: Yeah, But then then equally we've we've got right to
- 8:51Speaker 2: the end, we've done drugs We've done multi track guitars,
- 8:56Speaker 2: I've gone in and done all the vocals back in vocals.
- 8:58Speaker 2: We've got counter melodies, all sorts going on with the vocals.
- 9:01Speaker 2: We've literally finished the track and then gone.
- 9:03Speaker 3: Yeah I don't like it. Yeah, hit the red one.
- 9:07Speaker 4: What do you do? Then you brought away? Or are
- 9:09Speaker 4: you reworking?
- 9:10Speaker 2: Nah? Checkish oh man, Like, We've got so many tracks
- 9:19Speaker 2: that have never seen the light of day, that are
- 9:22Speaker 2: somewhere between half and one hundred percent finished.
- 9:24Speaker 1: Like why at that point we have reworked this so
- 9:28Speaker 1: many times it wouldn't have been able to try the
- 9:31Speaker 1: first version of it. It'd be like, yeah, that chorus
- 9:35Speaker 1: just changed, there's changed there, and then yeah, there's still
- 9:37Speaker 1: something niggling us that we just can't get past that
- 9:40Speaker 1: might grab it.
- 9:41Speaker 3: Yeah. We are perfectionists for this stuff, like especially even more.
- 9:47Speaker 2: So as as it goes along, you know, and if
- 9:51Speaker 2: there's if one of us isn't vibing it, there's there's
- 9:54Speaker 2: obviously something that's not right. Like we have bad ones
- 9:56Speaker 2: in the in the past where one member or two
- 9:59Speaker 2: members of the band, I love it, I love it,
- 10:00Speaker 2: this is cool, this is wicked, And then there's one
- 10:03Speaker 2: or two. It's just like there's something man, there's something wrong,
- 10:06Speaker 2: and we're like, well, let's try that, let's try this,
- 10:07Speaker 2: let's try that, just this, let's let's add this, let's
- 10:10Speaker 2: take this away, and sometimes you just get to the end,
- 10:13Speaker 2: just like.
- 10:15Speaker 3: I think it's a scrapper.
- 10:18Speaker 4: There's your next album, the album of scrappers.
- 10:23Speaker 1: Album.
- 10:26Speaker 4: What's your actual selection process both songs? Like do you
- 10:28Speaker 4: focus on what's being popular or do you do songs
- 10:31Speaker 4: that you like or you you think the original ship
- 10:33Speaker 4: and you can do better like.
- 10:34Speaker 1: Us a variety man. Yeah, I mean we've tried doing
- 10:41Speaker 1: stuff this, this is a big song, let's do that,
- 10:44Speaker 1: and it never works for us. It's not our fan base.
- 10:47Speaker 1: People love hearing the songs they didn't know they loved,
- 10:50Speaker 1: you know, the guilty pleasures and well you never seen
- 10:53Speaker 1: me singing to take that and then it's just screaming
- 10:56Speaker 1: back for good. So but yeah, what we kind of
- 10:59Speaker 1: do is sorry, no, I got no laughter.
- 11:03Speaker 3: You no disagree with you.
- 11:06Speaker 1: Yeah, it's like what we tend to do now is
- 11:08Speaker 1: we have a theme. We kind of did that from
- 11:11Speaker 1: the Disney album. Ever since then, there's always been a
- 11:14Speaker 1: theme for our album. So before we go start picking songs,
- 11:16Speaker 1: It's like, what's the theme going to be? Is it
- 11:18Speaker 1: going to be bow bands? It's gonna be nineties pop,
- 11:20Speaker 1: It's gonna be musicals. And that's kind of our first
- 11:24Speaker 1: Portanit comaw when we're doing anything new album related.
- 11:30Speaker 3: That you're not gonna say anything what just just just
- 11:33Speaker 3: what he said?
- 11:35Speaker 4: What he said goes to Now you know, it's fall
- 11:39Speaker 4: back in twenty forty eight. So what was your early
- 11:42Speaker 4: vision for this project? Like, but what did you want
- 11:45Speaker 4: out of it when you first started and how has
- 11:47Speaker 4: it changed over the years.
- 11:49Speaker 3: There wasn't any vision, what or whatever.
- 11:51Speaker 2: Man, it was like literally it was just having a
- 11:54Speaker 2: pisser back because none of us were in bands anymore,
- 11:56Speaker 2: and it was just like that's just, you know, let's
- 11:58Speaker 2: just have a have a laugh. And it just ended
- 12:00Speaker 2: up being a couple of punk covers of pop songs
- 12:02Speaker 2: that we chucked on YouTube and they did nothing. And
- 12:06Speaker 2: like generally, the PRF didn't really become anything until twenty nineteen.
- 12:14Speaker 2: It was the end of twenty nineteen we put our
- 12:16Speaker 2: first album out and then twenty twenty Covid hit.
- 12:22Speaker 3: And co. Like, I mean, Covid was pretty fucking sweet
- 12:26Speaker 3: for us, bro.
- 12:27Speaker 2: Yea like we like obviously everyone everyone jumps was on
- 12:32Speaker 2: the TikTok height through COVID and that, and it was
- 12:37Speaker 2: just it just worked for us because we just we
- 12:39Speaker 2: jumped on TikTok.
- 12:40Speaker 3: We hit the socials hard.
- 12:42Speaker 2: We were lucky enough that we could could we could
- 12:44Speaker 2: track and continue to do what we're doing. And uh,
- 12:48Speaker 2: we just battered social media and we were literally on
- 12:52Speaker 2: everyone's phone every time they went went on TikTok, and
- 12:55Speaker 2: our videos just were getting millions of views and and
- 12:57Speaker 2: this since then, and it's since that first first COVID
- 13:00Speaker 2: lockdown in twenty twenty is when it all started, man.
- 13:05Speaker 2: And so yeah, so it's only really the last four
- 13:08Speaker 2: or five years where things have really really stepped up, you.
- 13:13Speaker 4: Know, all right now, I had to ask you this question, guys,
- 13:16Speaker 4: but I think it's the only way people over here
- 13:18Speaker 4: are gonna put you guys in perspective, like me, first,
- 13:21Speaker 4: in the given GIMS is pretty much the only band
- 13:23Speaker 4: that we've heard of over here to do what you
- 13:24Speaker 4: guys do. Like, how similar to them are you?
- 13:30Speaker 1: I think we're extremely similar in what we do, but
- 13:34Speaker 1: then stylistically we're very different as well. They've got a
- 13:36Speaker 1: very signature way of putting songs together. They always go
- 13:40Speaker 1: to that weird offcord and that kind of mind and note,
- 13:43Speaker 1: and it's kind of this standard thing, which is what
- 13:46Speaker 1: they're known for in his class. With very different, I
- 13:50Speaker 1: think we not in a better way, and I think
- 13:54Speaker 1: I'm just very very similar, very different.
- 13:58Speaker 2: Yeah, it's it's a very simil a concept, yeah, but
- 14:01Speaker 2: with a very but with the two very different sounds.
- 14:05Speaker 3: Yeah, like they we are kind of the more.
- 14:08Speaker 2: I hate that, I don't I don't want to use
- 14:09Speaker 2: this word in a bad way, Like we're that kind
- 14:11Speaker 2: of more polished, hot punk feel, whereas the Gimmi's have
- 14:17Speaker 2: kind of got that more kind of like old school
- 14:21Speaker 2: punk feel to them.
- 14:22Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, the way I got it from what I
- 14:25Speaker 4: can see. Like me, first, you give me you know
- 14:27Speaker 4: all of them, and I'll get me wrong, But then
- 14:29Speaker 4: they seem to be a lot more structured, whereas what
- 14:30Speaker 4: I've seen from you guys use the more and live
- 14:33Speaker 4: anything goes when you're on stage.
- 14:34Speaker 1: Would be right to say that.
- 14:37Speaker 2: Yeah, absolutely are our our stage shows a ridiculous man,
- 14:42Speaker 2: It's absolute nonsense. Constantly, every every show is different depending
- 14:46Speaker 2: on how the crowds vibing, and what what's happened the
- 14:49Speaker 2: night before, like, or what's happened that day, Like something
- 14:52Speaker 2: can happen to us during the day when we're traveling,
- 14:54Speaker 2: or some kind of in joke that we've developed within
- 14:57Speaker 2: the last two hours of going on stage, and uh, yeah,
- 15:01Speaker 2: it'll just be a little Yeah, it's just chaos every night, man,
- 15:03Speaker 2: And it's always different.
- 15:04Speaker 3: Like so if you if you've seen us before the show,
- 15:06Speaker 3: you'll see next time will be different. Like one.
- 15:12Speaker 4: Looking forward to now before there you go, guys, I've
- 15:14Speaker 4: got a segment that I've started towards photo bomb. So
- 15:16Speaker 4: basically I've trold through social media and I've come up
- 15:19Speaker 4: with a few photos I want to know a little
- 15:20Speaker 4: bit more about. And you guys are hard because there's
- 15:23Speaker 4: a hell of a lot of photos that I could
- 15:24Speaker 4: come up with you. I'll start on this one looks
- 15:27Speaker 4: like a pretty serious conversation.
- 15:29Speaker 1: Overy soon.
- 15:34Speaker 4: They were.
- 15:36Speaker 3: That was Teddy Rocks.
- 15:38Speaker 2: Yeah they are, they know they are my son's trainers.
- 15:45Speaker 3: I basically I'm I'm a massive sneakerhead.
- 15:48Speaker 2: I love shoes right and I wanted those trainers for
- 15:55Speaker 2: ages and when I finally bought them, I actually bought
- 15:58Speaker 2: them for my son, so I was showing up to
- 16:00Speaker 2: the boys saying, these are the ones that I've wanted
- 16:02Speaker 2: for the last eight months, and I still don't own him.
- 16:04Speaker 3: My son does.
- 16:08Speaker 1: Photo. Look, I'm looking for your photos. He's got some
- 16:11Speaker 1: good facial expressions.
- 16:12Speaker 4: He always looks like he's having fun always. The main
- 16:18Speaker 4: reason I bring that up is because he's in the
- 16:20Speaker 4: next photo and he doesn't look like he's having fun.
- 16:24Speaker 4: It must have been pretty fucking cold.
- 16:28Speaker 3: Oh bro, that that was yeah, so rough. So we
- 16:34Speaker 3: were on We were on tour.
- 16:35Speaker 2: In Europe in dece November December twenty twenty three.
- 16:41Speaker 3: We were in Prague.
- 16:43Speaker 2: It was obviously snow in it was minus twelve degrees
- 16:49Speaker 2: celsius that that photo was taken at seven am in
