- 0:00SPEAKER_01: It's episode 28 of the Pat McGann Show.
- 0:02SPEAKER_01: This week, Pat welcomes Anna Bellevall with co-host Dwayne Kennedy.
- 0:06SPEAKER_01: The Pat McGann Show, as always, is brought to you by Tiege Hanley, Uncomplicated Skin Care for Men.
- 0:11SPEAKER_01: And now, here's Pat.
- 0:13SPEAKER_04: Alright, we're back at it.
- 0:15SPEAKER_04: We have another episode of the Pat McGann Show live here in the Tiege Hanley studios on the west side of Chicago.
- 0:23SPEAKER_04: They say the month of March comes in like a lion and leaves like a lamb.
- 0:28SPEAKER_04: I have him joined by a lion and a lamb today.
- 0:30SPEAKER_03: Who's who, though?
- 0:31SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
- 0:31SPEAKER_04: I'm working on my intros.
- 0:33SPEAKER_04: Do you guys like that one?
- 0:35SPEAKER_04: I'll leave that for you guys to figure out.
- 0:37SPEAKER_04: I always have Dwayne Kennedy along as much as possible, but also joining us today, the lovely, talented, Emmy Award-winning, beautiful Anna Balival.
- 0:48SPEAKER_02: Anna Kaval.
- 0:51SPEAKER_04: And I love the chemistry between the two of you.
- 0:54SPEAKER_04: Oh my God.
- 0:55SPEAKER_02: We need to keep it fresh.
- 0:56SPEAKER_04: I feel like we're in the green room at Zany's.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: No one has ever called this a chemistry.
- 1:01SPEAKER_00: You dig?
- 1:03SPEAKER_04: Well, I don't know much about science, so I don't know if that even actually.
- 1:06SPEAKER_00: I did go to your science room at your high school.
- 1:09SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 1:10SPEAKER_00: I met your science teacher.
- 1:11SPEAKER_04: In my grammar school.
- 1:12SPEAKER_04: You were at St.
- 1:13SPEAKER_04: Cajet's.
- 1:14SPEAKER_04: We were at the grade school.
- 1:15SPEAKER_00: I didn't go to Marist.
- 1:16SPEAKER_00: We were in the lab.
- 1:16SPEAKER_00: School two?
- 1:17SPEAKER_04: Did you go to Marist ever?
- 1:19SPEAKER_04: Oh, I don't remember.
- 1:20SPEAKER_00: They blend in.
- 1:21SPEAKER_04: You should be at Marist if you haven't been there.
- 1:23SPEAKER_00: Uh Catholic schools blend in.
- 1:25SPEAKER_04: Yeah, Marist is pretty, it's big now.
- 1:27SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's fancy.
- 1:28SPEAKER_00: It's fancy.
- 1:28SPEAKER_04: But anyway, Anna, you're here.
- 1:31SPEAKER_04: Um, if you guys are not from Chicago, you may even know Anna.
- 1:35SPEAKER_04: She's does stand up all over.
- 1:37SPEAKER_00: From international.
- 1:38SPEAKER_04: In uh the city of Chicago, she's also known for being the around town reporter on WGN Morning News, the juggernaut of WGN Morning News.
- 1:47SPEAKER_04: Um I was watching you today.
- 1:49SPEAKER_04: You were at a gym.
- 1:50SPEAKER_04: And this is the around town segment.
- 1:51SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 1:52SPEAKER_04: You go somewhere in the Chicagoland area every day.
- 1:56SPEAKER_00: Every day.
- 1:57SPEAKER_04: And find a slice of life story, something going on.
- 2:00SPEAKER_04: How would you explain your gig?
- 2:02SPEAKER_00: Just like that.
- 2:03SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 2:03SPEAKER_04: All right.
- 2:04SPEAKER_04: That was crazy.
- 2:05SPEAKER_00: Yes, and so I it it's pretty much that.
- 2:10SPEAKER_00: Um, I go everywhere in the Chicagoland area.
- 2:13SPEAKER_00: We cross the border once in a while, and uh, and we just find regular people doing amazing things or cultural events that people you know have never known about, places, architectural landmarks.
- 2:26SPEAKER_00: I mean, we're run the gamut because it's five days a week, seven hits, eight minutes of airtime.
- 2:32SPEAKER_00: And we have to make it interesting and dynamic every time.
- 2:36SPEAKER_00: So it really you really need some improv skills.
- 2:39SPEAKER_00: I don't write any script, it's all uh out of the blue in the moment.
- 2:43SPEAKER_00: And sometimes you get to places and you know you just have one thing to work with and you make chicken salad out of chicken.
- 2:51SPEAKER_04: I am really uh impressed by your ability to do that, and more so like getting involved with something like this, having this podcast, coming up with content once a week, coming up with a guest once a week is a challenge.
- 3:03SPEAKER_04: So here you are five days a week.
- 3:05SPEAKER_04: You gotta make it fresh, interesting, and um I know that's gotta be difficult, but it's also gotta be like you know, you say you don't have to prepare much, you just kind of show up.
- 3:15SPEAKER_04: It's like not everyone can do this gig.
- 3:17SPEAKER_04: I mean, is there any other reporter or any other segment that you would compare what you do?
- 3:23SPEAKER_04: Is anyone kind of doing that?
- 3:25SPEAKER_00: Uh not not in the not in town.
- 3:27SPEAKER_00: Very few stations.
- 3:29SPEAKER_00: We are an independent station, so we we're we're not attached to ABC C B S.
- 3:33SPEAKER_00: Like we don't go into national programming after 7 a.m.
- 3:37SPEAKER_00: We have six hours of news.
- 3:38SPEAKER_00: So we have to create a lot of content, and except for Fox, no one else has that kind of programming for the morning.
- 3:46SPEAKER_00: So I am most of the time I'm the only one who does this kind of segment and so many times uh and every day.
- 3:54SPEAKER_00: So I I can't I would compare it to the caller commentator in sports or someone narrating sports because they don't have a script, they have to go with whatever they're seeing.
- 4:04SPEAKER_00: So yeah, I don't it's a it's a niche, it's specific, and I love it.
- 4:10SPEAKER_00: I I have a great producer, I've had amazing producers.
- 4:13SPEAKER_00: My producer right now is Natalie Scridge, she's been for the last eight years, and she's great.
- 4:19SPEAKER_00: And you know, it's we collaborate, but it's mostly us looking for things, listening to people, driving around, looking around to see what could work.
- 4:27SPEAKER_00: Because after 20 years, yeah, the well dries up, and in the winter, it's even harder because no one's doing much in the winter here.
- 4:34SPEAKER_00: So yeah.
- 4:35SPEAKER_04: What are some segments in your past that that stand out?
- 4:40SPEAKER_04: No, you don't prepare.
- 4:41SPEAKER_02: You just risk what were you saying?
- 4:44SPEAKER_04: What we're talking about to you that, like, okay, so alright, I don't want to be that guy that asked you something.
- 4:52SPEAKER_02: Okay, so and and this is another probably I'm sure cliche question you've been asked a million times.
- 4:58SPEAKER_02: What's been one of your best stories?
- 5:01SPEAKER_02: Like, you know, most interesting and one of the worst.
- 5:05SPEAKER_00: Oh gosh.
- 5:07SPEAKER_00: Well, um, see, I draw a blank, which I I've told Natalie a thousand times we should write this because people ask us all the time, what are your firsts?
- 5:17SPEAKER_00: I love anything where I get to perform, uh dance with uh with a musical.
- 5:22SPEAKER_00: I can't sing, so they only allow me to dance for one of the segments.
- 5:26SPEAKER_04: Um if you're like at at a theater or a Broadway show, is Broadway off Chicago is coming to town and you're promoting it, you're gonna dive in with the cast.
- 5:35SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah, the other day I did on your feet at uh the Drury Lane, and they they were ready to teach me choreography, and because I used to be a dancer, excuse me.
- 5:47SPEAKER_04: What do you mean you used to be a dancer?
- 5:49SPEAKER_00: Well, I danced from like age eight to eighteen, so I love to dance, but I'm not I'm not like I can't keep up with them.
- 5:55SPEAKER_00: But I do that little snippet and I uh I I satisfy that urge that I have to be a performer.
- 6:02SPEAKER_00: Um, so those stories I love.
- 6:05SPEAKER_00: The stories that are really hard.
- 6:07SPEAKER_00: Um I don't think I want to go to anyone's the the awkward ones are when you have to go to someone's studio or someone's house and they're the only one there.
- 6:18SPEAKER_00: Because it's the crew and that person in this person's home or studio, and you're like Oh yeah, and in between you gotta like there, you know, you're like whose house have you gone to that then home solo?
- 6:29SPEAKER_04: Uh you did some solo stuff with Billy Corgan, didn't you?
- 6:33SPEAKER_00: Uh-huh.
- 6:33SPEAKER_04: At his place.
- 6:34SPEAKER_04: How was that?
- 6:35SPEAKER_00: He was good he was really nice to me.
- 6:37SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 6:38SPEAKER_02: Um but I feel a butt coming on that one.
- 6:43SPEAKER_00: Uh he was really nice to me.
- 6:45SPEAKER_00: But he um he's a very hard person to interview.
- 6:50SPEAKER_00: I think we had some kind of rapport, which is hard for for me to determine, but people were like, oh, he liked you.
- 6:57SPEAKER_00: He had a great conversation.
- 6:58SPEAKER_00: He even composed the first time he met me, he composed a little song for me.
- 7:01SPEAKER_04: Um but we have a song ready for you.
- 7:04SPEAKER_04: Dwayne?
- 7:05SPEAKER_04: Hit it.
- 7:08SPEAKER_02: I know where you've been.
- 7:11SPEAKER_00: That's a good start.
- 7:12SPEAKER_00: You that's it.
- 7:14SPEAKER_00: That's all we got so far.
- 7:16SPEAKER_00: We're gonna work with that.
- 7:17SPEAKER_04: She's been around town, she's been around town.
- 7:21SPEAKER_04: He wrote a song for you.
- 7:22SPEAKER_00: Are you Bobby McFerrying this?
- 7:24SPEAKER_00: Is this next?
- 7:26SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 7:31SPEAKER_02: That Dwayne Kennedy had a seizure on the Padmone show.
- 7:34SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I know.
- 7:35SPEAKER_02: He turned it into a song about Bobby.
- 7:38SPEAKER_02: I'll give it to a hospital.
- 7:40SPEAKER_02: I think Leo's gonna come back and save you.
- 7:42SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 7:43unknown: Yeah.
- 7:43SPEAKER_02: Leo, Leo, where'd you go?
- 7:46SPEAKER_00: Because I'll just scream.
- 7:49SPEAKER_04: What song did he write for you?
- 7:50SPEAKER_04: Do you remember it?
- 7:51SPEAKER_00: It was he was on the piano at Madame Suzu's, and it was something about uh don't go back to Puerto Rico.
- 7:57SPEAKER_00: It was like a little love song.
- 7:58SPEAKER_00: It was adorable.
- 7:59SPEAKER_00: Oh man.
- 8:00SPEAKER_00: Yeah, we we got along well.
- 8:01SPEAKER_00: The thing is that he is he's a tough interview, and um, my brother is a big fan of his.
- 8:08SPEAKER_02: I love man smashing pumpkins.
- 8:09SPEAKER_02: That guy, I think that guy's kind of a genius.
- 8:11SPEAKER_00: And that guy, no, this is what I'm gonna tell you.
- 8:13SPEAKER_00: One thing that impressed me about him is he explained to me that he sees things in notes.
- 8:19SPEAKER_00: Like when he you know how people see things in colors or concepts and colors or attach a color to a word?
- 8:27SPEAKER_00: I didn't mean it that way.
- 8:29SPEAKER_04: I don't know if you've heard my act.
- 8:30SPEAKER_03: I don't, yes, I have.
- 8:33SPEAKER_04: The Pat McGann show is presented to you by Tiege Hanley.
- 8:36SPEAKER_04: Uncomplicated skincare for men.
- 8:39SPEAKER_04: You're seriously washing your face with a three-in-one body wash?
- 8:42SPEAKER_04: You still use a flip phone too?
- 8:44SPEAKER_04: Working on MySpace Post?

- 9:22SPEAKER_04: Tiege Hanley.
- 9:23SPEAKER_04: It's the way we face the day.
- 9:27SPEAKER_00: He says that when he's writing a song, the the notes just pop into his head.
- 9:32SPEAKER_00: It's it was instead of numbers, it's like notes.
- 9:35SPEAKER_00: If I remember correctly, he may he may contradict me.
- 9:39SPEAKER_00: But I I found that fascinating.
- 9:41SPEAKER_00: He's had an incredible uh life story and very uh eclectic tastes.
- 9:47SPEAKER_00: Like a guy that's smart I didn't want to say that way.
- 9:50SPEAKER_00: A guy who composes and knows so much about music, then loves wrestling and had a wrestling team once.
- 9:58SPEAKER_00: I did an aroundtown with him about that.
- 10:00SPEAKER_00: And so yeah, he yeah, it's he's an interesting guy.
- 10:03SPEAKER_04: He is a well-rounded dude.
- 10:04SPEAKER_04: And you mentioned he had this song about you don't go back to Puerto Rico.
- 10:08SPEAKER_04: This is where you're from, Puerto Rico.
- 10:09SPEAKER_00: You didn't know?
- 10:10SPEAKER_04: I didn't I didn't know that.
- 10:11SPEAKER_04: I'm I'm telling everyone else that's tuning in.
- 10:14SPEAKER_00: That's how Masulo says that I I the average is 10 minutes before I mentioned the island.
- 10:20SPEAKER_04: Oh, how much did that clock in at?
- 10:21SPEAKER_04: We're good.
- 10:22SPEAKER_00: No, you asked.
- 10:22SPEAKER_04: Before you mentioned the island.
- 10:24SPEAKER_04: Well, it was in the port, it was in the Billy Corgus.
- 10:26SPEAKER_04: It was in the Billy Corgus.
- 10:27SPEAKER_00: So yeah, I was it was an average.
- 10:29SPEAKER_04: You kind of are Puerto Rico on the WGN news in a way.
- 10:33SPEAKER_00: I am.
- 10:33SPEAKER_00: I'm like Bad Bunny.
- 10:34SPEAKER_04: You're an island.
- 10:35SPEAKER_04: You're off to the you're not in the mainland.
- 10:38SPEAKER_00: I am, and they treat me like a second-class citizen.
- 10:44SPEAKER_00: Of course.
- 10:45SPEAKER_00: Some days I feel colonized.
- 10:48SPEAKER_04: That's almost, I think, one of the hardest things of your gig that you are so good at.
- 10:52SPEAKER_04: And I've done some around towns with you.
- 10:54SPEAKER_04: I've been on site with you.
- 10:56SPEAKER_04: Your ability to communicate with the studio without being there, without seeing them, just hearing them in your earpiece, and that that can play.
- 11:04SPEAKER_04: That's gotta be tough.
- 11:05SPEAKER_00: It is tough.
- 11:06SPEAKER_00: And at the same time, you have producers speaking to you and uh giving you a countdown or trying to have a full conversation with you while you're trying to, because even though sometimes I'm like a trick pony or a show pony and I'm pretending, you know, I'm performing and stuff, I I'm still asking questions and listening and and running an interview, conducting an interview.
- 11:27SPEAKER_00: So I want to hear your answers so I can ask something else.
- 11:30SPEAKER_00: And when you have somebody, five minutes, wrap it up, hard wrap, or you know, or this guy's boring, because they'll I have a producer who likes to talk to me that way.
- 11:37SPEAKER_00: Oh, and uh, it is it you have to focus and and you have to look engaged while you have all these things happen.
- 11:44SPEAKER_02: You don't want to look like Byron Allen on uh Comics Unleashed, where he just sitting there staring and people talking to him, and and if you look deep in his eyes, you can see him out of desk counting money.
- 11:55SPEAKER_02: And then you could be telling many that's what my my uh parents uh perish in the fire.
- 12:00SPEAKER_02: Anyway, so you like to barbecue.
- 12:04SPEAKER_04: All the setups.
- 12:04SPEAKER_02: Yeah, Byron's counting his money.
- 12:06SPEAKER_02: He doesn't give one F.
- 12:08SPEAKER_04: Dude, my favorite, one of my favorite Dwayne Kennedy, is specifically about Byron Allen comics unleashed.
- 12:16SPEAKER_04: There's a whole bit.
- 12:17SPEAKER_04: I'm like, Dwayne, have you done?
- 12:18SPEAKER_04: Have you ever been on?
- 12:19SPEAKER_04: You're like, no, man, I prefer to be leashed.
- 12:23SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 12:24SPEAKER_04: I'd rather stay on a leash.
- 12:26SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 12:26SPEAKER_02: I'm cool.
- 12:27SPEAKER_02: If that's the choice.
- 12:28SPEAKER_00: If that's how you're gonna get unleashed.
- 12:30SPEAKER_02: But I will say this though.
- 12:31SPEAKER_02: Now the show has been gone back into production.
- 12:34SPEAKER_02: Because, you know, when they cancel Colbert, which is gonna be end in May, CBS is gonna put Comics Unleashed in Colbert's slot.
- 12:43SPEAKER_04: Oh, is that right?
- 12:43SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so they've started taping new shows.
- 12:47SPEAKER_02: Have you rethought?
- 12:48SPEAKER_02: Have you rethought?
- 12:48SPEAKER_02: I'll re unleashed you.
- 12:51SPEAKER_02: Yeah, because back then I had like hopes.
- 12:53unknown: Right.
- 12:54SPEAKER_02: When he was first running, I had hopes and plans.
- 12:56SPEAKER_02: But yes.
- 12:57SPEAKER_02: That's all over.
- 12:58SPEAKER_00: We've reached that stage.
- 12:59SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 13:00SPEAKER_02: Okay, Anna, here's the thing.
- 13:02SPEAKER_02: How did you start?
- 13:03SPEAKER_02: How did you get this gig?
- 13:04SPEAKER_00: What happened?
- 13:05SPEAKER_00: Around town?
- 13:06SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 13:06SPEAKER_00: So I was a news reporter, a general assignment reporter, and a weekend anchor for Univision, Univision, the Spanish language channel.
- 13:15SPEAKER_00: And I was working as a correspondent for their network show in New York, their network morning show.
- 13:20SPEAKER_00: And um I wanted to do the crossover, like the legendary weekend.
- 13:25SPEAKER_04: So you went from Puerto Rico to New York?
- 13:27SPEAKER_00: No, I came here first to Chicago.
- 13:29SPEAKER_00: My career started here at Channel 66.
- 13:32SPEAKER_00: I couldn't find a reporter job in Puerto Rico.
- 13:34SPEAKER_00: And I was 21 years old, right out of college, and I asked my mentor in Washington, like, who who is where is Univision hiring from all their stations.
- 13:45SPEAKER_04: You went to America.
- 13:46SPEAKER_00: American University, yeah, in DC.
- 13:48SPEAKER_00: And so my friend said, Chicago's looking for somebody.
- 13:51SPEAKER_00: Just go for the interview because you've really you've only interned, and it's all been word of mouth.
- 13:56SPEAKER_00: Try doing an interview.
- 13:58SPEAKER_00: I sent them my tape and uh and they called me for an interview, and I came here July 19th of 1996.
- 14:05SPEAKER_00: I had graduated in May, and they offered me the job like that evening.
- 14:12SPEAKER_04: Wow.
- 14:12SPEAKER_00: And I called my parents, and my parents are like, do they know who they're hiring?
- 14:16SPEAKER_00: Because I was super green.
- 14:18SPEAKER_00: And um, and uh I said, I guess so.
- 14:22SPEAKER_00: And they they the salary they were paying me was decent.
- 14:26SPEAKER_00: My dad, because my dad's like, I'm not supporting you in Chicago, you better leave with a decent paycheck.
- 14:31SPEAKER_00: My dad was in shock, and a month later I moved to Chicago all by myself.
- 14:35SPEAKER_00: I didn't know anybody.
- 14:36SPEAKER_03: Oh, wow.
- 14:37SPEAKER_00: I didn't know anybody, and you know, Puerto Ricans, they're everywhere.
- 14:40SPEAKER_00: And I just didn't know anybody, and and I had sworn I would never live in cold weather, I would never leave my family behind.
- 14:47SPEAKER_00: 30 years later, I'm still here.
- 14:49SPEAKER_04: Did you move into a uh like a neighborhood where there were like Puerto Rican?
- 14:54SPEAKER_04: No.
- 14:54SPEAKER_04: No?
- 14:54SPEAKER_04: You didn't move right now?
- 14:55SPEAKER_00: I never lived in the Puerto Rican neighborhood.
- 14:59SPEAKER_00: I love my people, but you know, we're Nosi.
- 15:03SPEAKER_00: You know.
- 15:04SPEAKER_00: Um, it's funny because the reason I think I survived is because of the Puerto Rican community embracing me and treating me like I was uh their their person.
- 15:14SPEAKER_00: I've always been very connected to them.
- 15:16SPEAKER_00: Um, but I lived on Irving Park and Marine Drive first, um, in a huge high rise because my boss lived there.
- 15:24SPEAKER_00: And she's like, try, there may be an apartment there.
- 15:26SPEAKER_00: And I rented an apartment there, and then um I lived in the South Loop.
- 15:31SPEAKER_00: That's why when my daughter was born, uh, we lived in the South Loop, and now she says she's from the South Side.
- 15:37SPEAKER_04: Oh, yeah.
- 15:38SPEAKER_04: She's so cute.
- 15:39SPEAKER_04: That's why she's so cool.
- 15:40SPEAKER_00: My girl, you're not from the South, you wouldn't last.
- 15:43SPEAKER_00: And then we moved to the north side, um, so the kids could go to uh public school there because I'd rather be sellouts.
- 15:50SPEAKER_00: I I well, I need it to be house poor or school poor.
- 15:53SPEAKER_04: Well, you're closer to the studio.
- 15:55SPEAKER_00: Yes, I'm closer to the studio, and so I've it I love Chicago.
- 15:59SPEAKER_00: I I've only lived away from here three years in New York City.
- 16:02SPEAKER_04: What was your impression of Chicago and just the states in general growing growing up in Puerto Rico?
- 16:09SPEAKER_00: Well, everything we saw in cable, you know?
- 16:11SPEAKER_00: Yeah, uh WG and we could watch in Puerto Rico as a super station, and so we we knew about the Cubs and Bozo and so on, but I didn't have much of an idea of Chicago.
- 16:21SPEAKER_00: When you grow up in Puerto Rico, you're most like a you more like an East Coast watcher because our community usually go usually goes Florida, New York, New England, the Puerto Rico we've seen West Side Story, we know my mother hated West Side Story.
- 16:41SPEAKER_00: Oh, did my mother, my mother, they she went to the original one Broadway, she got in the car, started crying.
- 16:47SPEAKER_00: And my grandmother's like, Why are you crying?
- 16:49SPEAKER_00: No, everybody's gonna think we're a gangbanger.
- 16:51SPEAKER_00: My mother back in 1950, something and she wasn't wrong.
- 16:55SPEAKER_02: No, she wasn't wrong, she wasn't wrong.
- 16:57SPEAKER_00: So thank God for Hamilton and In the Heights and all the other musicals that came after, and Lim Manuel Miranda and Rita Moreno and all that, but um, all those amazing people.
- 17:07SPEAKER_00: Right, the e-got.

- 17:13SPEAKER_00: So she yeah, I I I went I went to DC, came here, and have been here ever since.
- 17:18SPEAKER_00: And what did I think about Chicago?
- 17:20SPEAKER_00: Oh my god, I couldn't have landed in a better, more welcoming place than this.
- 17:25SPEAKER_00: Um, people here take chances on you.
- 17:29SPEAKER_00: Um, they were supportive.
- 17:31SPEAKER_00: I mean, I remember we were lost in a corner and someone stopped and said, Where are you going?
- 17:36SPEAKER_00: Oh, I'm heading that way.
- 17:38SPEAKER_00: Follow me.
- 17:38SPEAKER_00: It was so so different.
- 17:40SPEAKER_00: We only had experiences before that in New York City, where no one really pays attention.
- 17:45SPEAKER_00: Um, and here my parents are like, We feel comfortable leaving a 21-year-old girl who's never lived in a major city.
- 17:53SPEAKER_00: Uh, and it's been fantastic.
- 17:54SPEAKER_00: I can't quit it.
- 17:55SPEAKER_00: I can't quit this damn place, even though I hate the cold weather.
- 17:58SPEAKER_00: I married a guy from here.
- 18:00SPEAKER_00: My kids were born apprentice.
- 18:03SPEAKER_00: I'm a Chicagoan.
- 18:04SPEAKER_04: Yeah, you really are.
- 18:05SPEAKER_04: But you weren't near a city in Puerto Rico.
- 18:07SPEAKER_04: How far were you from?
- 18:07SPEAKER_00: Excuse me, I was in downtown San Juan.
- 18:09SPEAKER_00: You I've always been very metropolitan.
- 18:13SPEAKER_02: Have you been to Puerto Rico, no, but I want to go.

- 18:25SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 18:26SPEAKER_04: You feel bad I brought up my honeymoon?
- 18:28SPEAKER_04: Why?
- 18:29SPEAKER_04: I can go again.
- 18:30SPEAKER_04: You had fun.
- 18:30SPEAKER_04: I can have another honeymoon.
- 18:32SPEAKER_04: You can in Puerto Rico.

- 18:40SPEAKER_00: No, I don't like small planes.
- 18:42SPEAKER_04: Yeah, there is.
- 18:43SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you gotta take a small likelihood of crashing.
- 18:45SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's like a kite.
- 18:46SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you don't want to go out like Buddy Holly.
- 18:49SPEAKER_00: No.
- 18:50SPEAKER_00: Or or the guy that paradaila.
- 18:53SPEAKER_00: Uh-huh.
- 18:53SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you don't want to go out.
- 18:54SPEAKER_02: Or uh Who else was on that plane?
- 18:58SPEAKER_00: Hey, were they Buddy Holly?
- 18:59SPEAKER_00: What's with no?
- 19:00SPEAKER_00: Big Bopper.
- 19:01SPEAKER_00: Yeah, they were all together.
- 19:02SPEAKER_00: They were together?
- 19:03SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 19:04SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 19:04SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 19:04SPEAKER_02: Big Bopper, Buddy Holly, and Richie Vallants.
- 19:08SPEAKER_04: And who, like rock, paper, scissored his way out of there?
- 19:12SPEAKER_04: Was it Merle Haggard?
- 19:14SPEAKER_02: I think it was something Wayland Jennings.
- 19:15SPEAKER_02: Wayland Jennings.
- 19:18SPEAKER_00: Patsy Klein died in an airplane crash, right?
- 19:20SPEAKER_02: Patsy Klein, Payne Stewart, remember the golfer?
- 19:23SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah.
- 19:24SPEAKER_02: The plane, something some gas, and they all went to sleep, and the plane just kept flying.
- 19:28SPEAKER_02: I remember that.
- 19:28SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 19:29SPEAKER_04: Oh, so many.
- 19:30SPEAKER_04: Oh my god.
- 19:31SPEAKER_04: Otis reading.
- 19:31SPEAKER_02: And they're always like private.
- 19:33SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 19:34SPEAKER_00: It's always the smaller ones.
- 19:35unknown: John Denver.
- 19:36SPEAKER_02: John Denver.
- 19:37SPEAKER_00: Oh, my dad suffered that one because my dad had the record.
- 19:40SPEAKER_00: Jim Crouchy.
- 19:42SPEAKER_04: Welcome to our plane crash death episode.
- 19:44SPEAKER_04: You know?
- 19:45SPEAKER_04: Everybody.
- 19:46SPEAKER_00: Selena was not a plane crash.
- 19:48SPEAKER_00: She was murdered by her fan.
- 19:49SPEAKER_00: How dare you?
- 19:50SPEAKER_00: And her fan shall never leave jail.
- 19:53SPEAKER_00: Jolanda Andrade.
- 19:54SPEAKER_00: And she still doesn't apologize for it.
- 19:57SPEAKER_00: He was shot.
- 19:58SPEAKER_02: Pete Wentz?
- 19:59SPEAKER_02: No, I didn't know what.
- 20:00SPEAKER_02: Wait, no! I just started throwing out nothing.
- 20:03SPEAKER_00: There was a guy, the there was a guy from um.
- 20:09SPEAKER_04: I meant junior on the JFK.
- 20:11SPEAKER_04: Sorry.
- 20:11SPEAKER_02: Stevie Ray Vaughn died in a helicopter.
- 20:14SPEAKER_00: No, this is a young man who was married to Christina Aguilera.
- 20:18SPEAKER_00: No, somebody.
- 20:19SPEAKER_00: Yeah, people died in small planes.
- 20:21SPEAKER_02: Yeah, Oleah.
- 20:23SPEAKER_02: That's right.
- 20:24SPEAKER_02: Remember Aaliyah?
- 20:25SPEAKER_02: She died.
- 20:26SPEAKER_00: Aaliyah died on a plane?
- 20:27SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 20:27SPEAKER_00: I thought R.
- 20:28SPEAKER_00: Kelly.
- 20:29SPEAKER_02: No.
- 20:30SPEAKER_02: No.
- 20:30SPEAKER_02: He did that, but then.
- 20:31SPEAKER_02: But he didn't.
- 20:32SPEAKER_02: No.
- 20:33SPEAKER_02: Well.
- 20:33SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 20:34SPEAKER_02: I don't think that really made a whole plane crash.
- 20:36SPEAKER_00: No, no.
- 20:36SPEAKER_00: I'm sorry.
- 20:37SPEAKER_00: I think he did.
- 20:38SPEAKER_00: R.
- 20:38SPEAKER_00: Kelly molested a plane?
- 20:40SPEAKER_00: What does it probably in a plane?
- 20:43SPEAKER_00: Or is it on?
- 20:44SPEAKER_00: Is it I have problems with prepositions.
- 20:46SPEAKER_02: Me too.
- 20:47SPEAKER_02: I thought I could fly.
- 20:48SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 20:52SPEAKER_02: I believe you have flown.
- 20:54SPEAKER_02: I do believe you have flown.
- 20:55SPEAKER_00: So yeah, that's my story.
- 20:57SPEAKER_00: I am from Puerto Rico, yeah.
- 20:59SPEAKER_02: I have I have very dear friends.
- 21:03SPEAKER_02: You know, this I feel like Oh, here we go.
- 21:05SPEAKER_02: No, I'm not gonna, because now I feel white.
- 21:07SPEAKER_00: I was just gonna say you sounded white.
- 21:10SPEAKER_02: You know, I have some very dear friends who are Puerto Rican.
- 21:14SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 21:14SPEAKER_00: Do you know the Rodriguez?
- 21:17SPEAKER_04: I I wouldn't say they have tempers at all.
- 21:20SPEAKER_04: And I've never seen them at a parade.
- 21:22SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 21:23SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 21:24SPEAKER_00: You have good friends that are Puerto Rican.
- 21:26SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's right.
- 21:26SPEAKER_00: And you love Puerto Rican food?
- 21:28SPEAKER_00: No, not really.
- 21:29SPEAKER_02: Um I mean, yeah.
- 21:32SPEAKER_02: What did I say?
- 21:33SPEAKER_04: What's the best Puerto Rican food?
- 21:34SPEAKER_04: Where do you go for a good Puerto Rican food?
- 21:35SPEAKER_00: My mom's house.
- 21:36SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 21:37SPEAKER_00: I love Puerto Rican food here.
- 21:38SPEAKER_00: Jibaritos y Mass has good Puerto Rican food, Ponce restaurant, La Bruquena on Division has great Puerto Rican food, but there's nothing like a home cooked meal.
- 21:48SPEAKER_00: And I don't know how to make it.
- 21:50SPEAKER_00: I don't have that great hand.
- 21:52SPEAKER_04: Uh you don't cook much?
- 21:53SPEAKER_04: You don't make Puerto Rican dishes for Steve and very, very seldom.
- 21:57SPEAKER_00: They're not very healthy.
- 21:58SPEAKER_00: We fry everything.
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: It's kinda like Midwest.
- 22:01SPEAKER_02: I was gonna say you are true, Chicago.
- 22:02SPEAKER_00: Totally, totally and what's for dessert?
- 22:04SPEAKER_02: A defibrillator.
- 22:05unknown: Yeah.
- 22:06SPEAKER_00: We're frying a Twinkie.
- 22:07SPEAKER_00: What the heck?
- 22:09SPEAKER_00: So yeah, um I at home is when I when I really go nuts.
- 22:13SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 22:14SPEAKER_02: What do you make?
- 22:14SPEAKER_02: What is one of yours?
- 22:15SPEAKER_00: I'll make the my favorite is super simple, is biste, which is kind of like a flank steak, fried and butter and olive oil.
- 22:22SPEAKER_00: And then um rice and red beans.
- 22:25SPEAKER_00: Saffron rice?
- 22:26SPEAKER_00: No, white rice.
- 22:28SPEAKER_04: See, here we do red beans and rice.
- 22:30SPEAKER_00: But you do it like in a mix.
- 22:32SPEAKER_00: I like my white rice and you pour the red beans on top.
- 22:35SPEAKER_00: And I don't eat spicy.
- 22:37SPEAKER_00: Please stop asking me if I spicy.
- 22:39SPEAKER_00: I'm not Mexican.
- 22:40SPEAKER_00: Puerto Ricans don't eat spicy.
- 22:42SPEAKER_00: Very few people.
- 22:43SPEAKER_00: Those are fighting wars.
- 22:44SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 22:44SPEAKER_00: No, because it's always like, why don't you like spicy?
- 22:46SPEAKER_00: You're Puerto Rican.
- 22:47SPEAKER_00: Caribbean people, except for Jamaicans, and we will put some pique in our stuff, but hot sauce, but it'll never compare to the South American kind of, especially Mexican, yeah, the habanero nombre.
- 23:02SPEAKER_04: Have you done stories on Puerto Rico?
- 23:05SPEAKER_04: Manny?
- 23:07SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I'm really annoying.
- 23:08SPEAKER_00: I am an I am obnoxiously Puerto Rican.
- 23:11SPEAKER_00: If you think bad bunny is obnoxiously Puerto Rican, I came first.
- 23:14SPEAKER_00: Um I will tell you I'm Puerto Rican.
- 23:17SPEAKER_00: I will use any excuse to tell you, I will excuse any behavior because I'm Puerto Rican, good or not, good or bad.
- 23:24SPEAKER_00: Um and I like to educate people about Puerto Rico.
- 23:28SPEAKER_00: And so um whenever I can, uh and in the in the world that we're living in, I try to keep my segment as diverse and multicultural as I can.
- 23:38SPEAKER_00: Um and whenever whenever I can highlight my island, I do and our people.
- 23:44SPEAKER_04: If you had to describe it to uh compel someone to go to Puerto Rico, how would you sell it?
- 23:50SPEAKER_04: What's your pitch?
- 23:52SPEAKER_00: It is paradise with the warmest, more welcoming people you'll ever meet.
- 23:58SPEAKER_02: And um Which was their first mistake.
- 24:02SPEAKER_02: Welcome, Europeans! Dude, we did it with the Spanish.
- 24:06SPEAKER_00: It was like, yay, let's have sex, and then dead of goneria.
- 24:09SPEAKER_00: Yeah, or I like we tried drowning one guy, and we're like, oh my god, they're human.
- 24:14SPEAKER_00: We thought because they were so white, they were like gods.
- 24:16SPEAKER_00: Yeah, we were very nice, and then they extinguished us.
- 24:20SPEAKER_00: There may be like 10 Tainos left.
- 24:22SPEAKER_00: Uh, and we were beautiful people, but we're very welcoming.
- 24:26SPEAKER_00: And you will have a blast.
- 24:28SPEAKER_00: We make a party out of anything.
- 24:29SPEAKER_00: When we tell you something, we mean it.
- 24:31SPEAKER_00: Like if I tell you, go visit my parents, they'd love to see you, they will.
- 24:35SPEAKER_00: Um, and and yeah, I would encourage anyone to go uh and support our economy too, because after Hurricane Maria, we took many steps backwards and we haven't been able to recover.
- 24:46SPEAKER_00: Please don't go to Puerto Rico to go first visit your friends in Dorado, where all the Americans live, and don't pay taxes and live like in a like a gated community.
- 24:58SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and then he had the who's there?
- 25:00SPEAKER_00: Jay Paul.
- 25:01SPEAKER_00: And he had the to say that Bad Bunny was a fake American.
- 25:05SPEAKER_00: Oh my god.
- 25:06SPEAKER_00: And then he had to back uh backtrack because he's taking advantage of lay fifth uh fifth law 52, which I'm getting too serious.
- 25:14SPEAKER_00: I'm sorry.
- 25:15SPEAKER_00: Not at all.
- 25:16SPEAKER_04: Point out the hypocrisy of Jake Paul.
- 25:19SPEAKER_04: Because a lot of people are following him, they think he's intelligent.
- 25:21SPEAKER_04: Yeah, he's a man.
- 25:23SPEAKER_04: He's a moron.
- 25:24SPEAKER_02: Yeah, he's a mope and a moron.
- 25:26SPEAKER_00: So anyway, if you move to Puerto Rico, you should live among Puerto Ricans and lose your power once in a while in your water, and you know, and and and contribute to the economy, not live in a microcosm like an expat that you know lives or a current pat.
- 25:42SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 25:45SPEAKER_00: That's why he's a legend.
- 25:48SPEAKER_00: The callbacks are always there.
- 25:51SPEAKER_01: As always, the Pat McGann Show is brought to you by Tiege Hanley on complicated skincare for men.

- 26:33SPEAKER_01: Teege Hanley.
- 26:34SPEAKER_01: It's the way we face the day.
- 26:38SPEAKER_04: So I've seen obviously your act.
- 26:40SPEAKER_04: You do stand up, you have one one woman shows.
- 26:43SPEAKER_04: You're so talented.
- 26:45SPEAKER_04: The uh pull to comedy, though.
- 26:48SPEAKER_04: This is kind of when I met you during this point in your year.
- 26:50SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you made it happen for me.
- 26:51SPEAKER_04: You were the uh host of Chicago Stand Up Project.
- 26:54SPEAKER_00: I told you you're my he wrote.
- 26:56SPEAKER_04: We were just singing that to Leo.
- 26:58SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I know.
- 26:59SPEAKER_00: Oh my god, we missed an opportunity.
- 27:01SPEAKER_02: Oh man.
- 27:01SPEAKER_04: We could have talk about the uh the you know transitioning into stand-up.
- 27:07SPEAKER_00: Um, I came across an opportunity through Mike Toomey that Juan Pat McGann was running a show uh called the Chicago Stand-Up Project, where they would pair celebrities in Chicago who had never tried stand-up uh to do five minutes, a five-minute set at Zany's, and this would be recorded, and we would be paired with a mentor.
- 27:32SPEAKER_00: And my mentor was Mike, because Mike knew that I had always wanted to do stand-up, but I wanted to take a class, and back then there were no writing classes.
- 27:40SPEAKER_00: He's like, Call Patty Vasquez, maybe she can help you.
- 27:43SPEAKER_00: And uh I never got around to it, and finally was when was that?
- 27:48SPEAKER_04: Oh Amelia was born in it was like oh nine or twenty ten.
- 27:52SPEAKER_00: 2010, yeah.
- 27:53SPEAKER_00: And um, and so my I tried it and I showed up to Mike with like 10 pages, and he's like, I know, it's a five minute set.
- 28:02SPEAKER_00: I'm like, Oh he's like, You've been really been wanting this, and I performed.
- 28:07SPEAKER_00: And uh, do you remember Dan Telfer?
- 28:10SPEAKER_04: Oh yeah, yeah.
- 28:11SPEAKER_00: Uh, he saw me that night at Zany's and he's like, You should do this more often.
- 28:16SPEAKER_00: And I was like, Yeah, because you know how your first time is the best?
- 28:20SPEAKER_00: And you're like, Yeah, this is gonna be awesome.
- 28:23SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna kill it.
- 28:24SPEAKER_00: Look at that, they live me.
- 28:26SPEAKER_00: And then I said yes to a lot of gigs, and I was like, Oh my god, this isn't the hardest thing I've ever done in my life.
- 28:34SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I can't be as committed as you guys um because it's uh it's hard and the hours are difficult.
- 28:42SPEAKER_00: I'm not a night person as it is, so I I pick and choose where I go and when I do it.
- 28:47SPEAKER_04: But it took off for you, and you have built such a following beyond the around town and doing small theaters and out in the burbs, like all over your performing.
- 28:57SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I did.
- 28:58SPEAKER_00: And my one woman show, which was in Spanish, I did it off Broadway and I did it in Puerto Rico as well.
- 29:04SPEAKER_00: Yeah, thanks to my friend Michael Cando.
- 29:06SPEAKER_04: So say, let's shout out Mikey O because you know what somebody pointed out to me one time, and I think it was uh TJ Miller, we're in the back of his Ain's one night, and he said, Mikey O has done so much for comedy in Chicago beyond what he would ever probably get recognition for.
- 29:23SPEAKER_00: And beyond Latino comedians.
- 29:25SPEAKER_00: Yes, like all of you have played a Mikey O show.
- 29:28SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah, and everyone's like, Why did you hire the white guy?
- 29:32SPEAKER_00: Well, because comedians need spaces.
- 29:34SPEAKER_00: And he started at Joe's on Wheat Street, and someone connected me to him after we did Saney's, and I fell in love with those crowds because those crowds are bilingual, so I don't have to translate the Spanish joke, and I can do a throwaway joke in Spanish and just amplify my set without having to go, and what I meant to say, which is such a downer.
- 29:54SPEAKER_00: I it's hard to explain, but it's such a downer when you have to go like translate the joke so people can it loses a nuance.
- 30:02SPEAKER_00: So I try and do as much bilingual as I can.
- 30:05SPEAKER_00: Uh, and when I have to do uh a show that I know is gonna be mostly in English, I have to pick my set uh wisely and and be like, okay, the I can throw maybe a few words, but it they're not gonna understand if I go into a rant in Spanish what I mean, you know.
- 30:22SPEAKER_04: How often do you get to use your Spanish?
- 30:24SPEAKER_00: Every day.
- 30:25SPEAKER_04: Every day.
- 30:25SPEAKER_04: Do you talk to your kids?
- 30:26SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 30:27SPEAKER_00: I speak to my oldest in Spanish every day.
- 30:29SPEAKER_00: I talk to my parents and my brother.
- 30:31SPEAKER_00: My kids hear Spanish all the time.
- 30:33SPEAKER_04: So they speak it.
- 30:34SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 30:34SPEAKER_04: Both of them.
- 30:35SPEAKER_00: I have a lot of um I have a lot of Latino friends.
- 30:39SPEAKER_00: And black and black friends.
- 30:40SPEAKER_00: Um, and so uh yeah, my kids have been.
- 30:43SPEAKER_00: I was very worried.
- 30:44SPEAKER_00: My husband's Jewish and from Glenville at Hol Deplos.
- 30:48SPEAKER_00: And um he's poor.
- 30:50SPEAKER_00: Uh and um I was very afraid that my kids weren't gonna grow up with a Puerto Rican identity.
- 30:56SPEAKER_00: And my husband has been amazing.
- 30:58SPEAKER_00: We visit Puerto Rico all the time, and I had a therap, my therapist had told me they're gonna learn based on your example.
- 31:04SPEAKER_00: And if you live your culture every day, your kids are gonna admire it and uh and want to be part of it, and that's what's happened.
- 31:12SPEAKER_00: My kids miss the island, they want to go do things in Puerto Rico.
- 31:16SPEAKER_00: My daughter's fluent in Spanish, taking AP spl Spanish.
- 31:19SPEAKER_00: Um, my son, not so much.
- 31:21SPEAKER_00: A second one is always a crapshoot.
- 31:23SPEAKER_04: A P Spanish, that's yeah, that's pretty great.
- 31:26SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 31:27SPEAKER_04: I remember having like kids in my class in high school that spoke Spanish at home and they would like be in my Spanish class, like, come on, ECA, Bye, ECA.
- 31:35SPEAKER_00: I did it in college.
- 31:36SPEAKER_04: Is this fair?
- 31:36SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 31:37SPEAKER_04: Yes, it is, and then they'd flunk.
- 31:39SPEAKER_00: What the that's what I was afraid of.
- 31:42SPEAKER_00: Can you speak Spanish?
- 31:43SPEAKER_04: No.
- 31:44SPEAKER_04: Took it four years in high school, didn't retain much.
- 31:47SPEAKER_04: I can, you know, yeah, I wish I did.
- 31:49SPEAKER_04: Why aren't we teaching it younger?
- 31:51SPEAKER_04: That's when you're supposed to learn it.
- 31:52SPEAKER_04: That's when you're it's most easy to learn.
- 31:55SPEAKER_00: The big mess that happened with Bam Bunny.
- 31:56SPEAKER_00: Bad Bunny spoke Spanish during the halftime show.
- 31:59SPEAKER_00: You think people here are gonna be like, every child should learn Spanish from kindergarten.
- 32:04SPEAKER_00: That will fly in Chicago, but I don't know if it'll fly in Kentucky or my kids take it at school once a week for 50 minutes a day.
- 32:12SPEAKER_04: It's like that's not how you're gonna do it.
- 32:14SPEAKER_00: I did I I learned English in a uh dual language academy, right?
- 32:18SPEAKER_00: I went to a Catholic school and a prep school, and it had to be English.
- 32:22SPEAKER_00: Your science was in English, your math was in English, everything but religion and Spanish were in English.
- 32:28SPEAKER_00: So I've been fluent since first grade, and it has been an asset.
- 32:33SPEAKER_04: How do you think?
- 32:34SPEAKER_00: In both.
- 32:35SPEAKER_00: At this point, I think in both.
- 32:36SPEAKER_04: Really?
- 32:37SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 32:38SPEAKER_00: Depending on how tired I am, but I mostly think in both.
- 32:41SPEAKER_00: I dream in both, but that's being incredibly fluent, right?
- 32:45SPEAKER_04: What's more fun to let loose in, swear in?
- 32:48SPEAKER_04: Spanish.
- 32:49SPEAKER_04: Oh yeah?
- 32:50SPEAKER_04: Spanish, absolutely.
- 32:51SPEAKER_04: Let's hear you just can you do a profane laced tirade in español for us?
- 32:57SPEAKER_04: Maybe about this interview, about this show.
- 32:59SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 33:00SPEAKER_04: Let everybody have it.
- 33:01SPEAKER_04: What is going on?
- 33:02SPEAKER_04: Come on, just.
- 33:39SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 33:39SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 33:40SPEAKER_00: The important ones.
- 33:41SPEAKER_02: That's how it was.
- 33:41SPEAKER_00: The ones that could get people sick.
- 33:43SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 33:43SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 33:43SPEAKER_00: The communal deceased ones.
- 33:45SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 33:45SPEAKER_00: I'm glad.
- 33:46SPEAKER_00: I'm glad.
- 33:47SPEAKER_02: But being German is not contagious.
- 33:49SPEAKER_00: No.
- 33:50SPEAKER_02: Well.
- 33:51SPEAKER_02: You know what I mean?
- 33:52SPEAKER_02: Not so much anymore.
- 33:53SPEAKER_04: I like how you put your hand up like that, too.
- 33:56SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that was.
- 33:57SPEAKER_02: We shouldn't have done that.
- 33:59SPEAKER_02: That's funny because earlier.
- 34:01SPEAKER_02: Anyway.
- 34:02SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 34:02SPEAKER_02: Go, go.
- 34:03SPEAKER_02: Um, no, I would.
- 34:04SPEAKER_02: Have you done a uh uh the uh genealogy?
- 34:08SPEAKER_02: I did.
- 34:08SPEAKER_00: That's why I know I'm 17% African.
- 34:10SPEAKER_02: Uh but where?
- 34:12SPEAKER_02: Um what group, what brand?
- 34:14SPEAKER_00: I would uh wherever the slaves came from to Puerto Rico, Ghana?
- 34:18SPEAKER_00: Probably.
- 34:19SPEAKER_02: I have my friend who's Puerto Rican, and uh, you know, I don't know if I told you that, Anna.
- 34:24SPEAKER_02: And uh, you know.
- 34:26SPEAKER_00: One?
- 34:26SPEAKER_00: You only have one?
- 34:27SPEAKER_02: No, I have uh several.
- 34:29SPEAKER_02: Oh! You know, I I I go to all their meetings.
- 34:32SPEAKER_02: And um, no, he's uh he's like 51% Nigerian.
- 34:36SPEAKER_00: Uh-huh.
- 34:37SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 34:38SPEAKER_02: So I don't know what my mother told Oh, by the way.
- 34:41SPEAKER_02: Oh, my mother loves this show.
- 34:45SPEAKER_04: Does she?
- 34:46SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 34:47SPEAKER_04: Shout out to Dwayne's mom.
- 34:49SPEAKER_04: That's great.
- 34:50SPEAKER_04: That's our demo.
- 34:51SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 34:52SPEAKER_02: Mine too.
- 34:53SPEAKER_04: Oh, yeah.
- 34:53SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 34:54SPEAKER_02: My mother too.
- 34:55SPEAKER_02: Have your parents been tuning in?
- 34:56SPEAKER_00: No, but I will make them tune in as well.
- 34:58SPEAKER_04: We saw, we got a couple downloads in PR.
- 35:00SPEAKER_04: I was like, who is that?
- 35:01SPEAKER_00: No, the Bellevals.
- 35:03SPEAKER_04: Or the Clemente's.
- 35:04SPEAKER_04: Might be.
- 35:05SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 35:06SPEAKER_02: That's wild.
- 35:06SPEAKER_04: Your mom is tuning in?
- 35:08SPEAKER_02: I couldn't believe it.
- 35:09SPEAKER_02: She said, uh, I love that show with you and Pat.
- 35:11SPEAKER_02: What?
- 35:12SPEAKER_02: How are you watching that show?
- 35:13SPEAKER_04: Can you tell her to leave us a review?
- 35:15SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you know.
- 35:16SPEAKER_02: Download and subscribe.
- 35:17SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 35:17SPEAKER_02: Download like and subscribe.
- 35:21SPEAKER_04: Let's have her on.
- 35:22SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 35:23SPEAKER_02: Um, yes.
- 35:24SPEAKER_02: So she told me, uh they did a genealogy thing, that we were like 17% German.
- 35:31SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 35:32SPEAKER_02: And that is not good news.
- 35:34SPEAKER_02: Does that explain a lot?
- 35:36SPEAKER_02: It explains something.
- 35:38SPEAKER_02: No.
- 35:40SPEAKER_00: What are you talking about?
- 35:41SPEAKER_04: You are pretty meticulous.
- 35:43SPEAKER_00: That's what I was gonna say.
- 35:44SPEAKER_00: Are you very meticulous?
- 35:46SPEAKER_02: Well, you know, but but in my writing I am.
- 35:49SPEAKER_02: Not in my life.
- 35:51SPEAKER_02: My writing is 17% German.
- 35:54SPEAKER_02: The rest of my life is uh pretty much sub-Saharan desert.
- 35:58SPEAKER_04: I here's something German you do.
- 36:00SPEAKER_04: You t you text in all caps.
- 36:01SPEAKER_02: I text in all caps.
- 36:02SPEAKER_04: That seems Yeah.
- 36:04SPEAKER_02: I'm not yelling.
- 36:05SPEAKER_02: Have I ever texted you?
- 36:06SPEAKER_02: Probably not.
- 36:06SPEAKER_02: No.
- 36:07SPEAKER_02: But I would if it if I did it, it would be all caps.
- 36:10SPEAKER_02: Only because see, I didn't know, but this is before I knew uh texting protocol or etiquette.
- 36:15SPEAKER_02: You know, I'm not yelling at you.
- 36:16SPEAKER_02: I just like the uniformity of the letters.
- 36:19SPEAKER_00: That's that's that is how you print, too.
- 36:21SPEAKER_04: That's how you write.
- 36:22SPEAKER_00: I write in capitals.
- 36:23SPEAKER_00: I type, but I think it's also because uh script in news is written in all caps.
- 36:30SPEAKER_04: Oh, yeah.
- 36:31SPEAKER_00: So I write my scripts in caps, plus it makes me feel like I have more material than I really do.
- 36:36SPEAKER_00: And it's easier to see.
- 36:38SPEAKER_00: Yeah, oh definitely.
- 36:39SPEAKER_04: Do you put it in courier new?
- 36:41SPEAKER_04: That's how you know, that's how you extend.
- 36:42SPEAKER_04: You remember that trick in school?
- 36:44SPEAKER_04: We went to school around the same time.
- 36:45SPEAKER_04: When you wrote a paper, thank you, Pat.
- 36:47SPEAKER_04: You write a paper in like Times New Roman, uh-huh, right?
- 36:50SPEAKER_04: And in 12 font, and you're like, oh man, it's supposed to be five pages.
- 36:53SPEAKER_04: This is only three.
- 36:54SPEAKER_04: Oh, select all, courier new, twelve, eight pages.
- 36:59SPEAKER_04: It's like 10, 12, yeah, it's fantastic.
- 37:01SPEAKER_04: Oh my gosh.
- 37:02SPEAKER_04: And then you put the subject heading, Pat McGann, double space, history 301, double space, the teacher's name, the teacher's name, the teacher's middle name.
- 37:12SPEAKER_00: Chicago, Illinois.
- 37:14SPEAKER_04: Date lined, yeah.
- 37:16SPEAKER_04: All of it.
- 37:17SPEAKER_04: Oh man.
- 37:18SPEAKER_04: The paper starts at the bottom of the first paragraph.
- 37:20SPEAKER_04: Oh boy.
- 37:21SPEAKER_04: So yeah, you have to do a lot of writing for inside and out.
- 37:24SPEAKER_04: What's coming up with uh any around town segments coming up that you're fired up about?
- 37:28SPEAKER_04: Or you don't even know?
- 37:29SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 37:30SPEAKER_04: No.
- 37:31SPEAKER_00: Uh it all blends in and um but we have our big St.
- 37:36SPEAKER_00: Patrick's Day show.
- 37:37SPEAKER_00: Bourbon Street.
- 37:37SPEAKER_00: In Bourbon Street, which I don't know why you're not going.
- 37:40SPEAKER_00: South side.
- 37:40SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna be out of town.
- 37:41SPEAKER_00: Yeah, whatever.
- 37:42SPEAKER_04: Natalie did text me about trying every year, but I'm yeah, I'm not gonna be in town.
- 37:45SPEAKER_00: Um is that?
- 37:47SPEAKER_00: Uh March 13th.
- 37:49SPEAKER_04: Bourbon Street is on the South Side.
- 37:50SPEAKER_04: It's actually right outside the city.
- 37:52SPEAKER_04: It's a Marionette Park.
- 37:53SPEAKER_04: It's 115th and Kedzy-ish.
- 37:55SPEAKER_04: You've been to Bourbon Street?
- 37:57SPEAKER_04: Big St.
- 37:57SPEAKER_04: Patrick's Day, huge turnout.
- 38:01SPEAKER_04: The people, the Southsiders come out in droves.
- 38:03SPEAKER_00: They drink since 5 a.m.
- 38:05SPEAKER_04: So crowded there.
- 38:06SPEAKER_00: They're uh 5 a.m.
- 38:07SPEAKER_02: 1936.
- 38:10SPEAKER_04: That's they that's when they let us have a day.
- 38:12SPEAKER_04: It's St.
- 38:13SPEAKER_04: Patrick's Day, it's a Catholic tradition.
- 38:16SPEAKER_00: It was just your month.
- 38:18SPEAKER_04: Year and two.
- 38:19SPEAKER_04: Give me twenty people something.
- 38:21SPEAKER_04: Your last name's Kennedy, goddammit.
- 38:24SPEAKER_00: One of us.
- 38:25SPEAKER_02: How much did you get any Irish feedback in your genealogy?
- 38:28SPEAKER_02: Uh, you know.
- 38:28SPEAKER_02: I found out we were sort of adopted by the Irish.
- 38:31SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you are.
- 38:32SPEAKER_03: Sort of sort of.
- 38:35SPEAKER_04: Meanwhile, you are beloved on the South Side.
- 38:37SPEAKER_00: Yeah, he is.
- 38:37SPEAKER_04: Everybody loves you.
- 38:38SPEAKER_04: Those para shows you've done.
- 38:40SPEAKER_02: Man, I'm gonna tell you something.
- 38:41SPEAKER_02: This brother right here is the only reason that this keeping, you know what I mean?
- 38:47SPEAKER_02: If there's a race war.
- 38:50SPEAKER_02: Why?
- 38:51SPEAKER_02: I got to think about some things.
- 38:53SPEAKER_03: Why?
- 38:54SPEAKER_02: Because of this cat.
- 38:55SPEAKER_02: You know what I mean?
- 38:56SPEAKER_02: Oh we gonna, yeah.
- 38:57SPEAKER_02: No, I'm for real.
- 38:59SPEAKER_02: He used to book me at all the Parish shows.
- 39:02SPEAKER_02: It was great doing those shows.
- 39:04SPEAKER_02: People say, I wasn't doing those parish Catholic schools.
- 39:07SPEAKER_02: They were great.
- 39:08SPEAKER_02: They were great.
- 39:08SPEAKER_02: And they drink, they get drunker than the people at Zany's.
- 39:11SPEAKER_02: They bring their own coolers.
- 39:12SPEAKER_02: They bring their own cooler.
- 39:14SPEAKER_00: It is a culture shock.
- 39:15SPEAKER_00: I did last year.
- 39:16SPEAKER_04: They got more mileage on their coolers than their minivans.
- 39:20SPEAKER_04: They wheel them down the street.
- 39:22SPEAKER_00: I did a parish show, but it was Hispanic, so not your parishes.
- 39:25SPEAKER_00: Um, because I know you don't like when territories conflict.
- 39:28SPEAKER_00: Uh it was close to midway.
- 39:30SPEAKER_00: Is that really your section?
- 39:31SPEAKER_00: I don't think so.
- 39:32SPEAKER_00: But um, I went to this pa this parish show with Gwen La Rocca and uh I don't remember, I don't remember who else.
- 39:39SPEAKER_00: And the Mikey warned me, he's psyched they drink.
- 39:43SPEAKER_00: They drink, they're in the church basement.
- 39:45SPEAKER_00: They have jello shots, they have signature drinks, they have a taco man.
- 39:50SPEAKER_00: I'm like, what is the real money?
- 39:53SPEAKER_00: On a Saturday evening.
- 39:54SPEAKER_00: I loved it.
- 39:55SPEAKER_00: It was awesome.
- 39:56SPEAKER_00: They know how to party.
- 39:58SPEAKER_01: Like posts and reels, and follow the Pat McGann show on Instagram.

- 40:17SPEAKER_00: Patrick's Day Show.
- 40:18SPEAKER_00: I have a show coming up this Saturday at um the North Shore Center of the Performing Arts with uh uh it's called Funny Women of a Certain Age.
- 40:28SPEAKER_00: Oh, that's it.
- 40:29SPEAKER_00: And then uh I have a show with Mike Toomey and Jeff Hoover at the Tivoli Theater.
- 40:34SPEAKER_04: Um Hoover's gonna get on stage.
- 40:36SPEAKER_00: Hoover's gonna emphasize Hoover.
- 40:38SPEAKER_04: Jeff Hoover books everything on WGM Morning News, Cruiser.
- 40:42SPEAKER_00: Crazy guy with the white hair, all spiky.
- 40:44SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 40:44SPEAKER_04: He has Eddie and Jobo with Mike, he does Wink Winkleman.
- 40:48SPEAKER_04: Well, he's gonna try to get him to do stand-up.
- 40:51SPEAKER_04: He is so funny, naturally.
- 40:52SPEAKER_00: He's funny, but he's afraid because he's always doing characters.
- 40:56SPEAKER_00: So we're gonna force him.
- 40:57SPEAKER_00: That's hilarious.
- 40:57SPEAKER_00: I told him he had to do something.
- 40:59SPEAKER_00: And uh that's the Tivoli Theater.
- 41:01SPEAKER_00: And I I'm I'm booked every every month doing stand-up because you know there's a tuition coming up.
- 41:06SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 41:06SPEAKER_00: And it's so I'm calling it the tuition tour.
- 41:08SPEAKER_02: I know that's right.
- 41:09SPEAKER_02: Oh that's a great name.
- 41:11SPEAKER_02: Have you done the um the uh what was it, the bad moms of con?
- 41:14SPEAKER_02: Have you heard of that one?
- 41:15SPEAKER_00: No, I haven't done that.
- 41:16SPEAKER_02: Okay, you know what I'm talking about?
- 41:17SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 41:18SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 41:19SPEAKER_02: If you if all things being not equal, but say just and I'm not wishing this on you in any say, but don't say it.
- 41:27SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 41:28SPEAKER_00: Because it's been happening.
- 41:29SPEAKER_02: Yes, you're right.
- 41:30SPEAKER_00: And I don't want to jinx it.
- 41:32SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you're right.
- 41:32SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 41:33SPEAKER_02: You know what I'm talking about.
- 41:34SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I do.
- 41:34SPEAKER_04: But there's also another way you could say, like, do you this is where he you love stand up, you love it's but it's almost like they intersect though and cross, right?
- 41:43SPEAKER_04: Isn't everything just you?
- 41:44SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 41:45SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 41:45SPEAKER_04: So do you think you get a lot of your act and out of your gay, out of your job, yeah, your day job.
- 41:51SPEAKER_00: And I get to practice my stand-up chops when I when I'm at work, which is priceless, right?
- 41:57SPEAKER_00: So I'm not super rusty when I go back on stage, but I do love what I do.
- 42:02SPEAKER_00: And so would I ever go full time into stand-up?
- 42:06SPEAKER_00: Guys, you live a rough life.
- 42:08SPEAKER_00: It's a hard life.
- 42:13SPEAKER_00: You live a hard, lonely life.
- 42:18SPEAKER_00: It's okay.
- 42:19SPEAKER_00: It's okay.
- 42:20SPEAKER_00: We're gonna start a GoFundMe.
- 42:23SPEAKER_00: We're gonna start a GoFundMe.
- 42:25SPEAKER_00: And so I I don't think I can handle that.
- 42:28SPEAKER_02: But you can handle it.
- 42:29SPEAKER_02: This is easy to do.
- 42:30SPEAKER_02: Just you gotta learn coping.
- 42:31SPEAKER_04: You gotta learn how to cope, yeah, right.
- 42:38SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you could do it.
- 42:39SPEAKER_02: It's easy to do.
- 42:40SPEAKER_02: I'm too old to start that now.
- 42:42SPEAKER_02: Just use meditation or whatever it takes.
- 42:44SPEAKER_02: Blueberries.
- 42:45SPEAKER_02: Blueberries, you know, you can push up.
- 42:47SPEAKER_04: I just it is, you know, I think it's overstated, but yeah, it can be.
- 42:55SPEAKER_04: You got a tough life too.
- 42:57SPEAKER_04: You gotta have uh, you know, that's hustle and grind just like anything else.
- 43:00SPEAKER_04: You're kind of doing your own thing.
- 43:02SPEAKER_00: I don't have a tough life.
- 43:03SPEAKER_04: Yeah, but you gotta be.
- 43:03SPEAKER_00: I'm very blessed with the gig I have.
- 43:05SPEAKER_00: I'm very blessed with the family.
- 43:07SPEAKER_04: We are like a promotional arm of WGM Morning News.
- 43:10SPEAKER_04: If people have been listening since the beginning, this is our what 27th episode.
- 43:14SPEAKER_04: I think we've knocked out a good portion of people.
- 43:16SPEAKER_04: We've had Mike Toomia.
- 43:18SPEAKER_04: We've had Thomas Sulo.
- 43:19SPEAKER_00: Robin Baumgarten out that you were the first, I was the first one you met.
- 43:23SPEAKER_00: And what number am I in the list?
- 43:26SPEAKER_04: Wanted to get the show up and really.
- 43:28SPEAKER_04: I wanted to have the studio, first of all.
- 43:31SPEAKER_04: We wanted to be ready for you.
- 43:33SPEAKER_00: I want to get my glass change, she doesn't go anywhere.
- 43:36SPEAKER_04: Yeah, that was great.
- 43:36SPEAKER_04: We had Robin.
- 43:37SPEAKER_04: But you helped, you helped us get Robin.
- 43:41SPEAKER_04: Just the fact that you gave me cut.
- 43:42SPEAKER_04: I endorse you.
- 43:43SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 43:44SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but that's usually how how things happen.
- 43:46SPEAKER_00: People invite me, and then I I'm always like the starter kit.
- 43:50SPEAKER_00: And then when it gets really good, I'm the bright spot.
- 43:54SPEAKER_04: This is opposite.
- 43:54SPEAKER_04: You gotta look at it the other way.
- 43:55SPEAKER_04: We've got it up.
- 43:56SPEAKER_00: Robin was the starter kit.
- 43:58SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 43:59SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 44:00SPEAKER_00: When you had no budget, no studio.
- 44:02SPEAKER_02: Yeah, no cups.
- 44:04SPEAKER_00: I know, I've got perks.
- 44:05SPEAKER_00: A producer went to get me.
- 44:08SPEAKER_00: Dwayne's here.
- 44:10SPEAKER_04: I am so thrilled that you did come in.
- 44:12SPEAKER_04: And um it's always great to see you.
- 44:14SPEAKER_04: Absolutely.
- 44:14SPEAKER_04: It's awesome to be able to do that.
- 44:15SPEAKER_04: Like you said, you're one of the first people I met, especially in that world, the WGN world, and I feel like you helped me.
- 44:21SPEAKER_00: If you invite Cheryl Scott, I'm gonna punch you.
- 44:24SPEAKER_00: If you invite any of the other people from the other station, Tracy Butler, I'm gonna bring you up.
- 44:29SPEAKER_00: You can't have anybody else from another only WGN.
- 44:33SPEAKER_00: Do they invite you?
- 44:34SPEAKER_00: Do they give you time to speak on uh at the desk?
- 44:37SPEAKER_04: I've had a couple of them.
- 44:39SPEAKER_04: I've had a couple of them, and not like in that capacity.
- 44:42SPEAKER_04: And you wouldn't know anyway, because they don't have the reach you have.
- 44:44SPEAKER_04: You should feel good about that.
- 44:45SPEAKER_00: I love everybody from every Chicago is that kind of market where we all get along and and and root for each other.
- 44:51SPEAKER_00: So I'm I'm kidding.
- 44:52SPEAKER_00: But now you can invite everyone else.
- 44:55SPEAKER_00: Have you ever done any uh uh cameos and movies from No, I'm telling you, I don't my mom thought when I got the job at GN, like the network will call.
- 45:03SPEAKER_00: They've never called me.
- 45:04SPEAKER_02: Uh what about any of the the the Chicago shows?
- 45:07SPEAKER_02: No.
- 45:08SPEAKER_00: They're affiliate to NBC, and I work for GN, so they would have to be like, Oh yeah, you can't even go out.
- 45:13SPEAKER_04: I can't manage it.
- 45:14SPEAKER_04: And even like if you did, you know, you don't even have time to go because they ask you to block out.
- 45:18SPEAKER_00: I'd make time.
- 45:19SPEAKER_04: Sometimes I'll get an opportunity and they're like, they you gotta block out two weeks.
- 45:22SPEAKER_04: Oh my goodness.
- 45:23SPEAKER_00: You're like, oh, I can't do poor Pat.
- 45:26SPEAKER_00: He can't jet around with Maniscalco.
- 45:29SPEAKER_04: Second ago, you're feeling sorry for us about our horrible existence, and I'm trying to tell you it is Chicago.
- 45:35SPEAKER_04: This show is taking a turn.
- 45:36SPEAKER_04: Can I have a sip of this?
- 45:37SPEAKER_04: Yeah, get on that gym, man.
- 45:39SPEAKER_00: Chicago med calls.
- 45:41SPEAKER_00: You're gonna be like, I'm sorry.
- 45:43SPEAKER_00: I need to go to the parish St.
- 45:47SPEAKER_00: Michael's of the Soros in 125th and Western.
- 45:52SPEAKER_04: Yeah, sometimes you have to.
- 45:53SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 45:54SPEAKER_04: Because you get it last minute.
- 45:55SPEAKER_04: The audition is tomorrow.
- 45:57SPEAKER_04: He gets on more auditions than anybody, I'm sure.
- 45:59SPEAKER_02: He does.
- 46:00SPEAKER_02: Me?
- 46:01SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 46:01SPEAKER_04: You going on them?
- 46:02SPEAKER_02: Auditions?
- 46:03SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 46:03SPEAKER_02: Not anymore, man.
- 46:04SPEAKER_02: I gave up.
- 46:05SPEAKER_02: All right.
- 46:06SPEAKER_02: I'm coming back, though.
- 46:07SPEAKER_00: Oh, again?
- 46:08SPEAKER_02: Yeah.

- 46:11SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 46:13SPEAKER_02: They can't stop.
- 46:14SPEAKER_00: They can't stop you.

- 46:16SPEAKER_04: You are both unstoppable.
- 46:18SPEAKER_04: That is true.
- 46:19SPEAKER_02: Do you have anything coming up, Dwayne?
- 46:20SPEAKER_02: I want you to observe it.
- 46:21SPEAKER_02: I'm doing the Kenosha Comedy Club March 6th and 7th.
- 46:26SPEAKER_02: I'm trying to get a million people to come.
- 46:28SPEAKER_02: That way, if they if a million people come, then you only have to pay a dollar.
- 46:33SPEAKER_02: You know what I mean?
- 46:34SPEAKER_04: And then This is a good business plan.
- 46:36SPEAKER_02: That's what I'm saying.
- 46:37SPEAKER_02: That's why I was telling them the cat I was doing the interview who runs the club.
- 46:41SPEAKER_02: I said, man, if we can get a million people to come, they only have to pay a dollar.
- 46:44SPEAKER_02: So that's that's cheap for them.
- 46:46SPEAKER_02: I don't think you're an abundance thinker.
- 46:48SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 46:49SPEAKER_02: Is that what this is?
- 46:50SPEAKER_00: That math hurt my brain.
- 46:51SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 46:52SPEAKER_00: Kenosha doesn't have a million people.
- 46:54SPEAKER_00: So you're counting on the area.
- 46:56SPEAKER_00: Well, the collar.
- 46:57SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 46:58SPEAKER_02: I'm also depending on people from Oshkosh.

- 47:17SPEAKER_04: That's not too far from Appleton.
- 47:19SPEAKER_04: That's a uh that's a good comedy town.
- 47:21SPEAKER_02: So so since because you have of your GN gig, what are the things you can do as far as stand-up goes?
- 47:29SPEAKER_02: What are your limitations based on your GN gig?
- 47:32SPEAKER_02: Do you know what I mean?
- 47:33SPEAKER_02: As far as the content or even just where you can go to do stand-up.
- 47:37SPEAKER_00: Yeah, they haven't been so far very limited.
- 47:41SPEAKER_00: Now I'm being a little more careful.
- 47:44SPEAKER_00: Um and they thankfully have trusted my judgment up until now.
- 47:49SPEAKER_00: And I don't do I try not to do political humor.
- 47:53SPEAKER_00: Um I'm very autobiographical and I think that it keeps me safe.
- 47:59SPEAKER_00: Uh I still have that thing of journalism that I don't necessarily want people to know my point of view blatantly.
- 48:08SPEAKER_00: I think you can tell uh just by who I am and how I I uh conduct my car.
- 48:14SPEAKER_00: The stickers on my car, yeah, the the the boxing gloves in my rearview mirror, my Virginia Guadalupe in the back.
- 48:21SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah, yeah.

- 48:30SPEAKER_04: I I try.
- 48:30SPEAKER_04: I try.
- 48:31SPEAKER_00: I'm I'm old school that way, so I I do it all about me and and that keeps me safe.
- 48:37SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 48:37SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 48:38SPEAKER_00: I curse.
- 48:39SPEAKER_00: They don't have a problem with that.

- 49:09SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 49:09SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that would be.
- 49:10SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna tell you something.
