- 0:17Speaker 2: me than you've ever been. I don't think that's true.
- 0:20Speaker 1: Stay understand, I know.
- 0:23Speaker 2: Okay, four Finger Discounted.

- 1:01Speaker 3: We appreciate what your support. We're supposed to be doing
- 1:03Speaker 3: something this week. We thought we were going to be
- 1:04Speaker 3: doing something this week.
- 1:05Speaker 2: It's only very special.
- 1:06Speaker 3: So it feels like you know your gimmick is. I
- 1:10Speaker 3: come into this believing it will be no math. But
- 1:11Speaker 3: whatever it is that you say, yes, my gimmick is
- 1:13Speaker 3: now saying I've been scammed this week. So that's your
- 1:16Speaker 3: new bit, my new bit. So I got scammed recently
- 1:19Speaker 3: with that record. PayPal disordered out.
- 1:21Speaker 2: For me because they kept saying, don't worry, this is
- 1:23Speaker 2: not paper, this is the company. Don't worry your product.
- 1:26Speaker 2: Your product is on the way.
- 1:27Speaker 3: Even though the tracking order tracking code doesn't work, it
- 1:30Speaker 3: will fix up eventually. And I was like, I don't care.
- 1:33Speaker 3: It's been a week, it's been sent a week ago.
- 1:34Speaker 3: It should be working. So paypalers just canceled it. Yeah, nother,
- 1:38Speaker 3: I' get back to my email. So it was just
- 1:39Speaker 3: a scam. The new scam was a couple of weeks ago.
- 1:41Speaker 3: We got an email Greg Taylor. His name was it's
- 1:44Speaker 3: name and shame yes, and he said that it obviously
- 1:47Speaker 3: not his real name. If that is your real name, Greg,
- 1:49Speaker 3: And he sent us an email saying that Hey, I
- 1:52Speaker 3: work for the Chelsea Handler podcast. Dear Chelsea, would you
- 1:55Speaker 3: like to come on? She's like to have you on
- 1:56Speaker 3: the show. Yahd yadiyada. She loves the Simpsons, were gonna
- 1:59Speaker 3: talk about simp since comedy and I were like, random cool.
- 2:02Speaker 3: I've always liked Chelsea Handler like a show when I
- 2:05Speaker 3: was younger. I'm really seeing it and even newer stuff.
- 2:08Speaker 3: She's a big, big deal.
- 2:09Speaker 2: He's a big deal. Yeah. Absolutely.
- 2:10Speaker 3: I thought this would be cool to have be on
- 2:12Speaker 3: her show. And I was just want to come on
- 2:13Speaker 3: our show and yeadi yadia. And he's like, look, we're
- 2:16Speaker 3: going to set up a pre podcast meeting over zoom
- 2:20Speaker 3: just so we can sort of work out make sure
- 2:21Speaker 3: it's going to go live properly on your page. I
- 2:23Speaker 3: get the technical stuff, the technical stuff, right, he sent
- 2:25Speaker 3: through show notes. I sent them through to you. They
- 2:27Speaker 3: all looked a legit YadA, YadA, YadA. So I do
- 2:30Speaker 3: this meeting and he's trying to help me set up
- 2:34Speaker 3: there how to do live streams in the page.
- 2:36Speaker 2: And I was like, oh, we just click live.
- 2:37Speaker 3: He's like, no, no, you need to do this and do
- 2:38Speaker 3: that and because we're going to be doing it streaming
- 2:40Speaker 3: via your page and via her socials and yahdiada YadA.
- 2:43Speaker 3: And I was like, oh, it sounds like you know
- 2:44Speaker 3: what you're talking about.
- 2:45Speaker 2: So we're doing all that.
- 2:46Speaker 3: And about ten minutes after we finished this meeting last
- 2:48Speaker 3: Saturday morning, I get a code a notification on my
- 2:51Speaker 3: phone saying your Facebook account has been compromised. We have
- 2:54Speaker 3: shut it down and you need to log back in
- 2:57Speaker 3: to confirm your identity blah blah blah blah blah. And
- 2:59Speaker 3: I was like, oh, oh boy, this again, this old trick.
- 3:02Speaker 2: Hey.
- 3:03Speaker 3: So I went in there, clipped on that, fixed up all,
- 3:04Speaker 3: logged back and changed my past word, changed my email
- 3:06Speaker 3: for my account.
- 3:07Speaker 2: Just to cover all bases.
- 3:09Speaker 3: And yes, it turns out that they were trying to
- 3:11Speaker 3: hack our Facebook page.
- 3:12Speaker 2: Apparently.
- 3:13Speaker 3: I spoke to a Facebook person that sent me the
- 3:15Speaker 3: log of what happened. They had logged into my account,
- 3:18Speaker 3: logged into the page, removed myself as an admin, and
- 3:21Speaker 3: had created their ad them themselves an admin, and they
- 3:25Speaker 3: were trying to change the name of the page. And
- 3:28Speaker 3: that's when Facebook went this doesn't seem right, shut it down,
- 3:31Speaker 3: and thankfully Facebook worked.
- 3:33Speaker 2: In our favorite They were trying to scoop up our
- 3:35Speaker 2: sweet sweet followers and all their sweet sweet data.
- 3:38Speaker 3: But stupid me, I look back now, I go, of
- 3:40Speaker 3: course this was fake.
- 3:41Speaker 2: Well here's the thing, I too, am aware of Chelsea Handl.
- 3:43Speaker 2: I wouldn't say I was a bigger fan, but and
- 3:45Speaker 2: I wasn't. I knew of dear Chelsea but I hadn't
- 3:47Speaker 2: really watched a whole lot of it or listened to
- 3:49Speaker 2: a whole bunch of it. So on Friday night, I
- 3:52Speaker 2: go over to Lose Places. By the way, I mentioned
- 3:53Speaker 2: this to Louse looking out, Wow, chelseams the big deals. Look
- 3:56Speaker 2: at me like, that's right, honey man, it's in the
- 3:58Speaker 2: big dam. It's funny for you told me this.
- 4:01Speaker 3: And then when I thought I'm not going up to
- 4:02Speaker 3: break it to him and it's going to be so shadowy,
- 4:04Speaker 3: hell aloise this.
- 4:06Speaker 2: But I went over to see lou on Friday night
- 4:09Speaker 2: and yeah, she was so this happening. And then we're
- 4:12Speaker 2: next week if you watch any of the show, and like,
- 4:13Speaker 2: you know what, I was planning to do it this weekend,
- 4:16Speaker 2: Let's do it now. We put on a couple of
- 4:18Speaker 2: episodes on YouTube and we're looking at the thumb that
- 4:20Speaker 2: was like Chelsea talks to Tony Collette aimed Australian actress
- 4:24Speaker 2: started the sixth Sense and Yours Wedding, talks to Kevin Hart,
- 4:27Speaker 2: talks to mel Robbins, who's got like one of the
- 4:29Speaker 2: most popular podcasts in the world. All these familiar faces,
- 4:32Speaker 2: not even familiar face, it's famous faces, big names. I'm
- 4:36Speaker 2: not trying to downgrade us at all when I say this,
- 4:39Speaker 2: but it's like being a realist. Why then would she
- 4:42Speaker 2: have two schmucks from Geelong? Why ass yeah, it at either.
- 4:45Speaker 2: And I was saying, okay, well, look she's on the
- 4:46Speaker 2: iHeartRadio platform. We're on Spooker, which is iHeartRadio. Jason Speaker
- 4:53Speaker 2: is own my iHeart. Okay, so look they're maybe doing
- 4:57Speaker 2: some kind of collaboration or something like that. Apparently that's
- 4:59Speaker 2: what the kids are into these days. But I messaged
- 5:03Speaker 2: you and said, it's weird, right are we on? This?
- 5:06Speaker 2: Is this on the up and up?
- 5:07Speaker 3: And my theory was I'll just do this pre show
- 5:11Speaker 3: meeting and get a feel for things and if it's
- 5:13Speaker 3: not legit, then I'll know by then. Little did I
- 5:15Speaker 3: know that the Zoom that I clicked on was this
- 5:18Speaker 3: carbon copy of Zoom. That's not the real Zoom. It
- 5:20Speaker 3: is a program that gives them access to your computer.
- 5:23Speaker 2: But this gentleman, and he's no team of Romanian hacker
- 5:28Speaker 2: buddies or whatever, went all out. I mean, everything looked
- 5:32Speaker 2: and sounded pretty legit.
- 5:33Speaker 3: Well what got me was I thought, well, it's a
- 5:35Speaker 3: Gmail account, it doesn't seem very riggi ditch. And we've
- 5:38Speaker 3: since done research and she's put out a thing on
- 5:40Speaker 3: Instagram like a year ago saying, hey, you get a
- 5:42Speaker 3: thing from Gmail. You know it's fake for this Gmail.
- 5:44Speaker 3: And I'm like, but did Chelsea Chelsea please your Facebook page?
- 5:49Speaker 3: So your podcast page on Apple says the contact is
- 5:52Speaker 3: did Chelsea at gmail dot com.
- 5:54Speaker 2: So you can understand why.
- 5:56Speaker 3: I saw that and went, oh, well with her main
- 5:58Speaker 3: shows Gmail dot com. And I thought, you think they'd
- 6:00Speaker 3: contact me from the Dear Chelsea anyway, because it was
- 6:02Speaker 3: they content contacted me from Dear Chelsea Management pod management
- 6:07Speaker 3: at GM addict come. I thought maybe it's just the
- 6:08Speaker 3: one they used just to organize guests.
- 6:10Speaker 2: Possibly I fell for it, and absolute it's understood that okay,
- 6:14Speaker 2: because we've got to have page. So thank you Matter,
- 6:17Speaker 2: Thank you Matter. You actually did your job on your
- 6:19Speaker 2: you saved our page. Thanks buddy man. That would have
- 6:21Speaker 2: been devastating. Oh absolutely, But yeah, we were also, I think
- 6:25Speaker 2: on the Saturday morning, after suspicion started to be raised
- 6:29Speaker 2: a little bit of Google, it's like, great, Taylor Chelsea Handler,
- 6:32Speaker 2: nothing's coming up, he's got yeah, he's got nothing on
- 6:34Speaker 2: his there's no LinkedIn page, nothing like that, which you
- 6:37Speaker 2: would assume. I went into Instagram and shoot top t
- 6:41Speaker 2: Chelsea scam. Well, that's true. We should have done that.
- 6:44Speaker 3: We should done that first, and once you did that,
- 6:45Speaker 3: you go ah.
- 6:47Speaker 2: But I went into Instagram and sent a DM to
- 6:50Speaker 2: this Wymond Catherine, who is the producer and co host.
- 6:54Speaker 2: No responses because inundata with all this stuff, it was
- 6:58Speaker 2: like another couple of suckers. But a lesson learned and
- 7:02Speaker 2: we will never be speaking to anyone ever again except ourselves.
- 7:06Speaker 3: It could work out well though, because if she's a
- 7:07Speaker 3: fan of the Simpsons, this co host, maybe that we've
- 7:10Speaker 3: actually opened a door there where she goes.
- 7:11Speaker 2: You know, it's actually a pretty good idea. Possibly, but
- 7:14Speaker 2: she took it. I mean they're gonna have something, did Chelsea.
- 7:16Speaker 2: But it could open some sort of door for it. No,
- 7:17Speaker 2: but we could be ony. They still have those low
- 7:20Speaker 2: rent like chat shows like Ricky Lake or Maury or
- 7:23Speaker 2: something like that. I hope so great, you are not
- 7:28Speaker 2: going to be on Did Chelsea start throwing chairs?
- 7:33Speaker 3: But anyway, so that's what happened. That's what happened to
- 7:35Speaker 3: us this week. It's been an eventful a couple of
- 7:36Speaker 3: weeks here at Fourth Finger Discount, but this week we
- 7:38Speaker 3: are talking about Thursdays with Abe from the season twenty one.
- 7:42Speaker 3: So this is one of those episodes for me right
- 7:44Speaker 3: where I'm watching it and I'm not quite getting what's
- 7:48Speaker 3: going on here, because they tend to do this more
- 7:50Speaker 3: in modern Simpsons than classic Simpsons, and where they will
- 7:55Speaker 3: do a parody of something, but they won't just do
- 7:57Speaker 3: a specific scene or like a parody throughout the story.
- 8:01Speaker 3: The entire episode story is Yeah, and if you and
- 8:05Speaker 3: for me as a viewer i'm watching it, I don't
- 8:08Speaker 3: stand out as much as to me when I say
- 8:10Speaker 3: I watched a classic episode of the Simpsons and then
- 8:12Speaker 3: something feels a little bit often you go, that's something
- 8:15Speaker 3: I'm going to look up what they're doing. When the
- 8:17Speaker 3: whole episode is that, I don't feel as inclined to go,
- 8:20Speaker 3: this must be something I just watched this going this
- 8:23Speaker 3: just feels like a random Simpson story because I didn't
- 8:26Speaker 3: know the guest star who came into the guy who
- 8:28Speaker 3: actually wrote what was the.
- 8:29Speaker 2: Actual Okay, the book is called Tuesday Tuesday with Murray.
- 8:32Speaker 3: Yeah, now, once I looked up the source material, actually,
- 8:36Speaker 3: you know what they actually did a pretty good job
- 8:38Speaker 3: parroting this story, right, Yeah, is it as big a Well?
- 8:41Speaker 3: Apparently the TV film was a huge success. It was
- 8:44Speaker 3: on the Oprah Winfrey Hour or opraenh Woinfrey Network or
- 8:47Speaker 3: something like that, and it starred Hanka Zarre who played
- 8:50Speaker 3: who voiced the Marshall guy on this. Yeah, so he's
- 8:53Speaker 3: sort of reprising his role in that regard. So I
- 8:55Speaker 3: didn't mind all that, but still I don't think that
- 8:59Speaker 3: as a view you are if you don't know that
- 9:02Speaker 3: the source and Chilly exists, You're going, what the hell
- 9:04Speaker 3: is going on?
- 9:05Speaker 2: You're also going, what's the fucking point? Yeah? Well I
- 9:08Speaker 2: guess it was sort of like because Hankazari was on it. Yeah,
- 9:11Speaker 2: well that's the thing. I mean, this either works as
- 9:12Speaker 2: a terrific again using the word meta, but it works
- 9:15Speaker 2: as a meta gag. But you can you can be
- 9:18Speaker 2: a little too meta, and that's what that was in
- 9:21Speaker 2: this case. I found this incredibly frustrating.
- 9:25Speaker 3: I found certain elements of a frustrating I watched this
- 9:28Speaker 3: thinking I'll finished in the second, but I thought a
- 9:30Speaker 3: lot of it was very family guy esk in and delivery.
- 9:33Speaker 3: But I'll explain why A minute you continue.
- 9:35Speaker 2: We often talk on the show about, you know, balancing
- 9:38Speaker 2: emotion and humor or the foundation. You've got to have
- 9:42Speaker 2: a strong story or even a theme as a foundation
- 9:46Speaker 2: for an episode. Otherwise it's just a bunch of stuff
- 9:48Speaker 2: that happens. And sometimes a bunch of stuff that happens
- 9:51Speaker 2: is fine if the gags are good. The gags and
- 9:53Speaker 2: this are not good, and most of them are kind
- 9:56Speaker 2: of piss poor. But what's really the problem here is
- 9:59Speaker 2: that there there is no sort of strong foundation. You
- 10:01Speaker 2: have built a house of straw with this episode. I mean, yeah, oh,
- 10:05Speaker 2: we're taking the Mickey out of house, out of Tuesdays
- 10:07Speaker 2: with Maury, which is a you know, quite the phenomenon
- 10:10Speaker 2: back in the it's more of a back in the
- 10:12Speaker 2: late nineties. It was more than a decade old by
- 10:13Speaker 2: this point. That's the other thing. Yeah, I mean, it
- 10:15Speaker 2: came out in nineteen ninety seven, and addedly it was
- 10:17Speaker 2: on the on the bestseller list for a while. It
- 10:19Speaker 2: was a talking point for quite some time.
- 10:20Speaker 3: But still, I know they parody old stuff in early
- 10:23Speaker 3: Simpsons as well, from like the seventies and whatnot, but
- 10:25Speaker 3: I it feels like the stuff they're parodying was like,
- 10:27Speaker 3: you know, cornerstones and pop culture.
- 10:29Speaker 2: That stuff had had a long time to seep into
- 10:31Speaker 2: the culture and become Indiana Jones.
- 10:33Speaker 3: I always go to home, rolling down the staircase, like
- 10:35Speaker 3: those kind of visuals. You go, that's Indiana Joe.
- 10:37Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't want to call Tuesdays with Maria flash
- 10:40Speaker 2: in the pan. But yeah, it hadn't happened. It hadn't happened.
- 10:43Speaker 2: I've never heard of it. Yeah. So, but the thing
- 10:46Speaker 2: of it is, there's the kernel of a really solid
- 10:51Speaker 2: idea in here. And this is what I was thinking about,
- 10:53Speaker 2: because I was like, how would I how would I
- 10:56Speaker 2: fix this episode? And the thing of it is, it's
- 10:58Speaker 2: about the value of stories. Sometimes they have sentimental value,
- 11:03Speaker 2: emotional value, philosophical value, stuff that actually means something that
- 11:07Speaker 2: you can actually derive something from. And sometimes they have
- 11:10Speaker 2: financial value. And so this is this would be a
- 11:12Speaker 2: really interesting sort of clash of those two. Homer is
- 11:16Speaker 2: so sick of hearing and the rest of the Simpsons
- 11:18Speaker 2: family are so sick of hearing Grandpa's stories. Without realizing
- 11:22Speaker 2: there's little bits of gold all throughout. You've got to
- 11:24Speaker 2: sift through a lot of dirt. You're like a fucking
- 11:27Speaker 2: miner in the Yukon back in the eighting. I just like,
- 11:29Speaker 2: oh my god, all is dirt, Yeah, gold nugget occasionally that's.
- 11:32Speaker 3: Where Dan to a sovereign hill and Balarat trying to
- 11:34Speaker 3: find a little bit of gold.
- 11:35Speaker 2: Very much the case and there. But you will go
- 11:37Speaker 2: through metric tons of dirt to get a little bit
- 11:39Speaker 2: of goal. But that goal is priceless. Also, there was
- 11:42Speaker 2: the scheme of him trying to kill him in the end.
- 11:45Speaker 2: Well there's that. The webside of that.
- 11:47Speaker 3: I don't explain what the story of Tuesdays with Lauria.
- 11:50Speaker 3: So it's a guy who actually knew he was going
- 11:53Speaker 3: to be passing away, is getting his stories out before
- 11:56Speaker 3: he passed away.
- 11:56Speaker 2: You've got it. You've got a reporter who studied under
- 11:59Speaker 2: this professor college sort of his mentor, but someone he
- 12:02Speaker 2: respected and admired. And when he went to revisit this professor,
- 12:06Speaker 2: I think later in life, the professor had a debilitating disease.
- 12:08Speaker 2: Als I believe it was knew was his days were numbered,
- 12:12Speaker 2: and these guys just sort of sat back talked to
- 12:15Speaker 2: one another. But yeah, Maury a professor, now, yeah, was
- 12:20Speaker 2: essentially sort of sharing the wisdom of his life with
- 12:23Speaker 2: this guy, and this guy realized, this guy's got a
- 12:25Speaker 2: lot to say. I should really be listening. I should
- 12:27Speaker 2: really take this on board. And hey, I should also
- 12:29Speaker 2: really write it down and turn it into a book
- 12:31Speaker 2: that will become a best sell. So did the book
- 12:34Speaker 2: come out after Maury passed away? That's a very good question. Well,
- 12:38Speaker 2: let me give you the synopsis. As per Wikipedia, author
- 12:41Speaker 2: Mitch Album is a successful sports columnist. In nineteen ninety five,
- 12:45Speaker 2: he contacts his former sociology pressor, professor Maury Schwartz after
- 12:49Speaker 2: seeing him on nightline, afflicted with als.
- 12:51Speaker 3: When did the book come out? Because he passed away
- 12:53Speaker 3: in November fourth, ninety five. Maurray Schwartz did well.
- 12:56Speaker 2: The publication date was nineteen ninety seven. Okay, so he
- 12:59Speaker 2: pass away before the come out.
- 13:00Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 13:00Speaker 2: Album has prompted to visit Schworts in Massachusetts. Work and
- 13:03Speaker 2: whincidental newspaper strike allows him to visit every Tuesday. The
- 13:06Speaker 2: book is divided into fourteen days, each one containing one
- 13:10Speaker 2: of Album's visits to Schwartz. Each visit includes lectures from
- 13:14Speaker 2: Mariy on life experiences, with flashbacks and references to current events.
- 13:17Speaker 2: Schwartz's final Days. Ultimately, I spent giving album his final
- 13:21Speaker 2: lesson of life. So you know, it's one of those
- 13:24Speaker 2: books where it's like Chicken Soup of the Soul or
- 13:26Speaker 2: you know, everybody should know this kind of stuff, but
- 13:28Speaker 2: it's if you're hearing it from someone who has lived
- 13:32Speaker 2: a full life and who realizes that at the end
- 13:33Speaker 2: of it's like, this is stuff that has meant something
- 13:36Speaker 2: to me. It could mean something to you as well.
- 13:38Speaker 2: I'd like to share it with you and hopefully you
- 13:40Speaker 2: can take this lesson moving forward. I think that's really important.
- 13:42Speaker 2: I think it's really really valuable. And with that, which
- 13:45Speaker 2: sounds syning cool, yeah, you can monetize that as well.
- 13:47Speaker 2: So what you've got in this episode is the clash
- 13:49Speaker 2: of someone who is willing to listen to these stories
- 13:51Speaker 2: that are valuable, that have meaning, and is just being
- 13:55Speaker 2: wholly cynical that it is like, yeah, there's gold in
- 13:57Speaker 2: them nails, there's sentimental gold is bad. There's emotional goal
- 14:01Speaker 2: that Homer could use, that the family could use, and
- 14:03Speaker 2: there's just financial goal that what's his name is it,
- 14:05Speaker 2: Mitch Marshall Marshall, sorry not Mitch is deriving it from
- 14:12Speaker 2: I think that's a really good idea for a story.
- 14:14Speaker 2: You know, this guy, this guy Marshall is providing Abe
- 14:18Speaker 2: with the he's providing Grandpa with the attention, yeah, purpose
- 14:22Speaker 2: and the attention that he craves. But also it's like, yeah,
- 14:25Speaker 2: these stories might be dull and rambling or whatever, but
- 14:28Speaker 2: there could be something in them that's worth something to you.
- 14:30Speaker 2: But he's just going to run down the page and like,
- 14:32Speaker 2: now we've got a book deal. So I don't know.
- 14:35Speaker 2: I just thought that's a that's a solid idea, and
- 14:37Speaker 2: you can it would I think would give the story
- 14:39Speaker 2: real heart. Now I think they might be trying to
- 14:42Speaker 2: do that in this, but I don't think they do
- 14:43Speaker 2: it all that well. Then also, you just get a
- 14:46Speaker 2: lot of not very good gags as well.
- 14:48Speaker 3: On top of now, I just thought a lot of
- 14:50Speaker 3: it was just very When I was mentioning before the
- 14:52Speaker 3: family guy is delivery, so there was a lot of
- 14:56Speaker 3: very short scenes. So not necessarily The Simpsons doesn'tcessarily have
- 15:00Speaker 3: longer scenes all the time, but it felt like you
- 15:03Speaker 3: can get more depth to the story in the motion
- 15:05Speaker 3: if the scene's more drawn out. This one just felt like, hey,
- 15:08Speaker 3: it's Homer doing something silly for thirty seconds. Now it's
- 15:10Speaker 3: Millhouse and Bart doing something silly for top twelve seconds.
- 15:13Speaker 3: It was just like short, sharp and there's a lot
- 15:14Speaker 3: of cutaway gags. You think that's bad, you think that's bad.
- 15:17Speaker 3: It's kind of felt like that kind of moment throughout this.
- 15:21Speaker 2: I should probably watch some more Family Goes because I
- 15:22Speaker 2: don't know if they've ever done you think that's bad
- 15:24Speaker 2: on there. We've really just taken that from South Park.
- 15:27Speaker 2: They say, I'm pretty sure that.
- 15:29Speaker 3: It's like news happened, and then it cuts away that
- 15:32Speaker 3: it felt like there was a lot of cutaways in
- 15:34Speaker 3: this one here.
- 15:34Speaker 2: Sure. So the b plot here is that they've got
- 15:37Speaker 2: Larry the.
- 15:38Speaker 3: Lamb, which is the classroom doll real thing, right, So
- 15:41Speaker 3: obviously you've never had a kid at school. I never
- 15:44Speaker 3: experienced this myself. I don't think. I think I remember
- 15:46Speaker 3: taking a baby home, but like a doll home maybe once.
- 15:48Speaker 3: But the thing is Elliott in prep two years ago.
- 15:52Speaker 3: I can't remember what kind of stuff animal it was.
- 15:55Speaker 3: It was like a bunny, I think. But they have
- 15:57Speaker 3: a book and each kid takes their turn each week,
- 16:00Speaker 3: take it home for a week and ago have experiences,
- 16:02Speaker 3: take photos with the doll, and it's quite funny in
- 16:04Speaker 3: the sense that I'm watching this going it's true the well,
- 16:08Speaker 3: but Ali didn't take bat stance on it, but it
- 16:10Speaker 3: was the kids really had this emotional connection to this,
- 16:13Speaker 3: to this toy, and as apparent you' watching it going,
- 16:16Speaker 3: I'm going to make sure my kids experiences with this
- 16:18Speaker 3: fucking stuff animal are going to be better than what's
- 16:21Speaker 3: come previous. In this book, it's like you're trying to
- 16:22Speaker 3: one up the previous parents. It's so bizarre, but it
- 16:25Speaker 3: is weird.
- 16:26Speaker 2: But then, like you know, some kids, like I took
- 16:28Speaker 2: mine to Luna Park and it's like a photo of
- 16:30Speaker 2: the doll on the roller coaster and stuff like that.
- 16:31Speaker 2: You like, it's weird, but like I can kind of
- 16:34Speaker 2: see them given this sense of responsibility as well. I
- 16:36Speaker 2: get the idea responsibility by the way unified a theory
- 16:39Speaker 2: of forefinger discount kicks in because we were actually going
- 16:42Speaker 2: to record this today as Wednesday is Dan I mentioned
- 16:44Speaker 2: we were going to record this episode yesterday, Tuesday, whatever
- 16:47Speaker 2: episode we were recording that day. Follow that Egg from
- 16:50Speaker 2: South Park, which is all about taking home an egg
- 16:52Speaker 2: and recaring for it for a week. Responsibility the same thing.
- 16:55Speaker 2: It is literally the same thing sentence did it but
- 16:59Speaker 2: maybe sound parked I did it first? Yeah, yeah that.
- 17:03Speaker 2: I like the idea of, you know, sort of fostering
- 17:06Speaker 2: a sense of responsibility in children and doing a relatively
- 17:08Speaker 2: safe way with stuffed animal. Maybe lift so on egg
- 17:12Speaker 2: because that's going to get everywhere when you break it.
- 17:14Speaker 2: It also sounds to me it could create a bit
- 17:16Speaker 2: of an unhealthy dynamic. Ands like I'm going to show
- 17:18Speaker 2: this stuff land the best time. It's like, well, you're
- 17:22Speaker 2: creating a one upping kind of environment. What happens? Yeah,
- 17:25Speaker 2: which could be could set a bad present for the future.
- 17:29Speaker 2: I took my kids to you know, Italy for the summer.
- 17:32Speaker 2: When we went down to the coast.
- 17:34Speaker 3: Well, I remember I spoke to the teacher about it
- 17:38Speaker 3: and I said, so, what's what's the end game? What's
- 17:41Speaker 3: the end game? She goes, well, the a positive that
- 17:43Speaker 3: comes from it is that kids who wouldn't whose parents
- 17:45Speaker 3: might not normally take them out to do things, would
- 17:47Speaker 3: actually take them out to do things. And I said,
- 17:49Speaker 3: but what happens if the parents are still so fucking
- 17:51Speaker 3: lazy they don't do something, The kid feels like terrible
- 17:53Speaker 3: because they don't have experiences, just like because.
- 17:55Speaker 2: Their chapter, their chapter in the Larry Book of Shit. Aus. Yeah,
- 17:57Speaker 2: She's like, well that does happen too, I might, so
- 17:59Speaker 2: should we be doing this? Good point? Yeah, But what
- 18:03Speaker 2: I didn't like.
- 18:04Speaker 3: Though, there was a particular line in this episode here
- 18:07Speaker 3: where so Bart was playing tuger war with Larry of
- 18:10Speaker 3: the lamb with the dog, and Lisa takes it away,
- 18:12Speaker 3: say don't do that, and he says, why don't you
- 18:15Speaker 3: do this when I'm tormenting real animals?
- 18:17Speaker 2: Right?
- 18:18Speaker 3: I hated that line because Bart isn't a monster. Bart
- 18:22Speaker 3: wouldn't torment real animals, you know what I mean. The
- 18:25Speaker 3: Bart of old was ashievas. You know, he was an
- 18:29Speaker 3: underachiever and proud of it, but he wasn't a monster.
- 18:32Speaker 3: And there's an episode Bart the Mother where Nelson gets
- 18:35Speaker 3: a B B gun and Bart was gonna have a
- 18:36Speaker 3: shot with it, and Nelson says, shoot that bird, and
- 18:39Speaker 3: instead of shooting the bird, he points the gun away,
- 18:42Speaker 3: shoots it, but actually kills the bird because he's got
- 18:44Speaker 3: a crooked sight, right, And Bart feels horrible. He tries
- 18:46Speaker 3: to look after the eggs of the bird. YadA, YadA, YadA.
- 18:49Speaker 3: Bart is not a bad person. No, he just does
- 18:51Speaker 3: naughty things as a way of like a I don't know,
- 18:53Speaker 3: a mask for his inability to learn at school, and
- 18:57Speaker 3: he struggles at school. Things like this where bart Is
- 18:59Speaker 3: now become a kid who's just willing to torment real animals.
- 19:03Speaker 2: I didn't like it at all. I get where you're
- 19:05Speaker 2: coming from.
- 19:06Speaker 3: You know, it's just a cartoon, but that's that's not
- 19:09Speaker 3: who Bart is.
- 19:09Speaker 2: I took that lie with the grains of when you're
- 19:11Speaker 2: saying tormenting, I don't think he's torturing or anything like that.
- 19:14Speaker 2: I think he's probably just teasing an animal, which you
- 19:17Speaker 2: know sometimes that can involve, like you know, dangling your
- 19:20Speaker 2: keys in front of the dog.
- 19:22Speaker 3: I think it's because Larry's lamb was being ripped tormented.
- 19:27Speaker 3: It felt like the loarder of the lamb. Why don't
- 19:30Speaker 3: you do this when I'm doing this to real animals.
- 19:32Speaker 2: It's like, yeah, I get, that's just it does feel
- 19:36Speaker 2: like a cheap one. But that old Larry the Lamb
- 19:38Speaker 2: sort of subplot as well b plot, it was just garbage. Well,
- 19:41Speaker 2: it just felt very pointless, pointless. It had no time
- 19:44Speaker 2: to the a plot at all. Yeah, it was just
- 19:47Speaker 2: again a bunch of stuff that happened. And also, yeah,
- 19:49Speaker 2: it just had pisspore character sort of development or whatever,
- 19:52Speaker 2: because I didn't really many a payoff at all either.
- 19:55Speaker 2: I guess it was Bart learning to appreciate. But it's like,
- 19:57Speaker 2: what did he did? He? Even?
- 19:59Speaker 3: I think he used Larry the lamb as a way
- 20:01Speaker 3: to escape the cats in the sewer. And then you
- 20:03Speaker 3: had Agnes to kick coming back saying yeah, give him
- 20:06Speaker 3: my number, I'll show him a thing or two.
- 20:07Speaker 2: And what is with these Agnes jokes? Is what I
- 20:10Speaker 2: was asking. Yeah, but I think there was one bit yeah,
- 20:13Speaker 2: where I've written down him. Don't make Lisa all grown
- 20:16Speaker 2: up in her attitudes and then have her pushing a
- 20:18Speaker 2: toy lamb in a pram exact same thing.
- 20:21Speaker 3: My note, I'm like, can you please work out is
- 20:23Speaker 3: Lisa an eight year old girl or an intelligent eight
- 20:25Speaker 3: year old who's above this? You can't have her being
- 20:27Speaker 3: all political and caring about global warming then have her
- 20:30Speaker 3: pushing a stuffed animal in a pram down the street.
- 20:33Speaker 3: And she also, why push a put to the jazz hole?
- 20:36Speaker 3: What kind of subgenre of jazz do you like? I'm
- 20:38Speaker 3: like you is she eight year old? Pushing a doll
- 20:41Speaker 3: around in a pram? Or she an eight year old
- 20:42Speaker 3: that appreciates subgenre of jazz, And.
- 20:45Speaker 2: Is she pushing a doll in a pram solely so
- 20:46Speaker 2: of the pram can go out of control and run
- 20:48Speaker 2: into traffic. I want to no, I do want to
- 20:51Speaker 2: diss this episode. This was lazy hours writing. I didn't
- 20:55Speaker 2: I didn't like this episode at all. In fact, the
- 20:57Speaker 2: only episode I just like more than one. I'm going
- 20:58Speaker 2: to be talking about next time, next episode Once upon
- 21:02Speaker 2: a Time in Springfield. You didn't like that? Fucking hated it? Why? Terrible? Really? Yes,
- 21:09Speaker 2: I'm still trying to work out why. But I was like,
- 21:11Speaker 2: what is the whole what's the point of this nonsense?
- 21:14Speaker 1: Really?
- 21:14Speaker 3: You are probably the only Simpsons fan in the world
- 21:17Speaker 3: that doesn't like that episode.
- 21:18Speaker 2: Wow, we it's considered like the better like modern day episode.
- 21:23Speaker 2: It's fine. I got this this headline from an old
- 21:26Speaker 2: newspaper that I think has been parted through the Davis
- 21:29Speaker 2: family because a few of them had us on our fridge.
- 21:31Speaker 2: It's like it's Davis against the world, or it's Davis
- 21:34Speaker 2: versus the world. I think it was like sports thing,
- 21:36Speaker 2: and I'm like, you better have some reasons why you
- 21:37Speaker 2: didn't like You can't just say I don't know why,
- 21:39Speaker 2: I just didn't like it. Well, we'll call it other
- 21:41Speaker 2: episodes and then I'll think about it. But no, I just.
- 21:45Speaker 3: When did you watch it this morning? Is it because
- 21:47Speaker 3: you finished from the gym and you're rushed and you're
- 21:49Speaker 3: in a bit of a.
- 21:50Speaker 2: No, Well maybe that's it. I need get to go
- 21:51Speaker 2: to the gym this morning because I had to watch
- 21:52Speaker 2: that episode watched yesterday because I had a bunch of
- 21:55Speaker 2: stuff to do. You watched Maths that was in the evening.
- 22:02Speaker 3: Oh man, Yeah, guys, I hope you're enjoyed this week's show. Remember,

- 22:41Speaker 2: moas continually looking for love or connection anywhere you can
- 22:44Speaker 2: find it. Slime move, do you get my letters? Yeah?
- 22:47Speaker 2: That one's all right. I'm a talking about neglected Grandpa
- 22:51Speaker 2: for ages and then he heeds me with super neglect.
- 22:53Speaker 2: Thought that was pretty funny, and I guess the rambling
- 22:57Speaker 2: Homer's rambling story over the closing credits is again that's
- 23:00Speaker 2: the joke. But it did have a very nice payoff
- 23:03Speaker 2: at the end when it goes all the way through
- 23:04Speaker 2: the credits and go, hey, did I about the time
- 23:06Speaker 2: I created Greasy Films Shusha show.
- 23:09Speaker 3: Yeah, that was pretty good. I didn't mind the ramble
- 23:11Speaker 3: at the end. Yeah, it just did also feel like, hey,
- 23:13Speaker 3: Dan killed two minutes of time.
- 23:15Speaker 2: Well yeah, Riff, Dan Riff.
- 23:17Speaker 3: I didn't mind Homer's recycled bin in his head moment, silly,
- 23:19Speaker 3: but didn't mind it. The idea of the recycled bin sound,
- 23:22Speaker 3: I think that still exists anymore. I don't think when
- 23:24Speaker 3: you're to the recycle bin that you know the sound
- 23:27Speaker 3: when you empty the recycle bin.
- 23:28Speaker 2: I don't think I've got a recycle bin in that again?
- 23:30Speaker 2: What do you mean on your computer?
- 23:32Speaker 1: All that?
- 23:33Speaker 2: Sorry? Oh yeah, yeah, I don't think i've got it anymore,
- 23:38Speaker 2: or I don't think i'm here. It used to be
- 23:39Speaker 2: the sound of cleansing. Yeah. Oh yeah, you're crunching up papers.
- 23:42Speaker 2: Yeah yeah.
- 23:44Speaker 3: And I didn't mind the homer the bait and switch off.
- 23:47Speaker 3: You think he's about job on the train, but he
- 23:48Speaker 3: jumps into the cafe. That's the kavikabooz.
- 23:51Speaker 2: Next question, you there eating the paste?
- 23:54Speaker 3: All right, it's trivia time. My first question for you
- 23:56Speaker 3: is when they are at the Wet and Wacky World.
- 23:59Speaker 3: When they're first walking in, there's two street signs.
- 24:01Speaker 2: What are they? Oh god damn, because one is like
- 24:04Speaker 2: celepopod or something or street yeah yeah, and simple when
- 24:14Speaker 2: one's another like a fish or something like rust Dolphin
- 24:17Speaker 2: drive Dolphin drive. Yeah. Speaking of the very start, Marge
- 24:22Speaker 2: takes a lot of pictures. One is I think one
- 24:25Speaker 2: is of a Miami license plate. What is that license
- 24:27Speaker 2: plate number? Ah?
- 24:29Speaker 3: So I didn't even bother looking through this. I was
- 24:31Speaker 3: like I was going to put in the clipper.
- 24:33Speaker 2: And here's why. What's the answer, Well, well, no, the
- 24:36Speaker 2: answer is m A B F O two. But this
- 24:38Speaker 2: is like an early example of second screen syndrome, which
- 24:41Speaker 2: you're aware. I'm sure you know. Shows are being written
- 24:44Speaker 2: and devised like we're never going to have anyone's full
- 24:46Speaker 2: attention anymore, so you've got to repeat the gags out
- 24:49Speaker 2: loud and keep reiterating the plot. Why does Marge so
- 24:52Speaker 2: I was, Oh, I took all these photos. Here's I'm
- 24:55Speaker 2: explaining this photo, this photo that just shows the photos.
- 24:58Speaker 2: Just show me the photos. You don't have to have,
- 25:00Speaker 2: Julie Capin is saying, because we're not looking at the screen.
- 25:02Speaker 2: Here's one of my feet, here's one of so on something.
- 25:03Speaker 2: It's like, it'll be a lot funny if I just
- 25:05Speaker 2: looked at him, but I'm not looking.
- 25:07Speaker 3: It's kind of like old episodes though, when they're going
- 25:09Speaker 3: through slides and Patty and some will show their slides
- 25:11Speaker 3: and this is us when we're in here, and this
- 25:12Speaker 3: is us what we're doing now.
- 25:13Speaker 2: I think, Yeah, but that's the gag, is that these
- 25:15Speaker 2: pictures are so yeah, I know what you mean.
- 25:19Speaker 3: I do see what you're saying though, too. And then
- 25:20Speaker 3: the whole deleting them at the end. I guess it's
- 25:24Speaker 3: a kind of a data thing because she says her
- 25:26Speaker 3: cards forward, it's very rare that we have run out
- 25:28Speaker 3: of space now for taking photos we get re run
- 25:31Speaker 3: out of space and also deleting them all by accident.
- 25:36Speaker 3: It's like, it's very rare. They're like a delete all
- 25:39Speaker 3: button now it's easily accessible. My next question is the
- 25:44Speaker 3: Tinseltown sty liner would have stopped every Monday at what time?
- 25:47Speaker 2: At one seventeen pm? Yeah, that was one of my questions. Okay,
- 25:53Speaker 2: so I'll give you my third and final question. Right,
- 25:57Speaker 2: who is filling in for Jane at yoga?
- 25:59Speaker 3: Jane at yoga? It was Tracy Tricia, Trisha And is
- 26:04Speaker 3: this the gay panic joke you're talking about? Yes, that's
- 26:06Speaker 3: not a dude, as long as there's not to do.
- 26:07Speaker 3: It's come on, guys, who cares.
- 26:10Speaker 2: If it's a dude you're doing yoga. I final question
- 26:19Speaker 2: for you is what were the initial three folders in
- 26:22Speaker 2: Homer's brain? Another one is Marge's boobs.
- 26:26Speaker 3: Yeah, it's food, I like, but but in hell and
- 26:30Speaker 3: then Marge's boobs And I was like accurate home result
- 26:34Speaker 3: of this, it is time for the Stone cut of
- 26:46Speaker 3: Shirtout's here four hour of view of Thursdays with ab
- 26:48Speaker 3: starting with the incredible Katie g with her one hundred support.

- 27:31Speaker 3: He at four Finger disc Gap. But mister Davis, let's
- 27:33Speaker 3: now get into our review of Thursdays with Aby. The
- 27:36Speaker 3: original air day of this episode was January third, twenty ten.
- 27:39Speaker 3: The top three films at the US box office Number
- 27:41Speaker 3: three Alvin and the Chipmunks. The Squeakle is still a
- 27:43Speaker 3: number third from last week. Number two is still a
- 27:46Speaker 3: number two Sherlock Holmes and the new number one is Avatar.
- 27:50Speaker 2: Ah keeps on. That's the gift that keeps on. Given, yes,
- 27:54Speaker 2: you're watching the other Avatar movies.
- 27:56Speaker 3: No, So my mom's like, we're gonna se Avatar tonight
- 27:59Speaker 3: on Saturday. I was like, we've seen number two. She goes,
- 28:01Speaker 3: there was a number two. I went, yeah, look last
- 28:03Speaker 3: year she went, She was, oh, yeah, there's another one,
- 28:06Speaker 3: wasn't there. I went, I've seen that one as well.
- 28:08Speaker 2: I think.
- 28:08Speaker 3: I'm like people just these movies are so successful. People
- 28:11Speaker 3: just go into it because it's Avatar. I think they
- 28:13Speaker 3: must be because I have no interest, no interest, And
- 28:16Speaker 3: I know I saw it come up the second one
- 28:18Speaker 3: on Disney Plus I think it was Disney Plus or
- 28:19Speaker 3: one of their streaming services, and I went, should I
- 28:21Speaker 3: watch this? London said it a terrible and Leond multons, yeah,
- 28:25Speaker 3: I didn't. I've never re watched the first one. And
- 28:29Speaker 3: had even thought about the first one since I watched
- 28:31Speaker 3: the first one, and I think I only went to
- 28:33Speaker 3: that first one because I wanted to experience everyone's talking
- 28:35Speaker 3: about the three D It looks fantastic. So this next,
- 28:39Speaker 3: these next two apparently have been released in three D.
- 28:41Speaker 3: I didn't know we still did three D films. Apparently
- 28:42Speaker 3: you can watch it in three D. Still, yeah, I
- 28:44Speaker 3: think so. But if it's not what you're not watching
- 28:46Speaker 3: it in three D? Is it any good?
- 28:48Speaker 2: I probably? Look I should know better than a bet
- 28:53Speaker 2: against James Cameron, who apparently keeps hitting them out of
- 28:56Speaker 2: the park. But I have no interest in the Navy, Pandora,
- 28:58Speaker 2: any of these other planets, or any of these other
- 29:01Speaker 2: species or races. I don't care.
- 29:03Speaker 3: It feels like the Matrix three. It's like, was there
- 29:06Speaker 3: a need for a Matrix three? You know?
- 29:08Speaker 2: There wasn't. I don't think there was.
- 29:10Speaker 3: But anyway, they were the top three films at the
- 29:12Speaker 3: box office when this ad It guest starred Mitch Album
- 29:15Speaker 3: as himself who comes to the Old Folks Home and
- 29:17Speaker 3: if he is with the stories and whatnot, and was
- 29:20Speaker 3: written by Mitch Glazer and Don Payne and directed by
- 29:23Speaker 3: Mike Frank Polsino. So the episode kicks off with the
- 29:26Speaker 3: family arriving to Wet and Wacky World formerly JFK Naval Museum.
- 29:30Speaker 2: Oh, by the way, we should just say not really.
- 29:33Speaker 2: I don't think there was a board gag in this one.
- 29:35Speaker 2: There were sort of like an opening. There was a
- 29:36Speaker 2: Wizard of shout, yeah, but it was sort of truncated credits,
- 29:39Speaker 2: and the couch gag was like it was called couchgag
- 29:42Speaker 2: chaos and it was one.
- 29:44Speaker 3: I was like, I'm surprised until twenty one years to
- 29:46Speaker 3: do a pinbom machine, but I didn't remind it. Yeah,
- 29:48Speaker 3: big pinball fan here. But Homer is a fan of
- 29:51Speaker 3: this place because you get good parking. Despite the fact
- 29:54Speaker 3: that there's worst rise here than actual theme parks, less
- 29:57Speaker 3: fish and actional aquarium, you get good.
- 29:58Speaker 2: Parks at this place.
- 30:00Speaker 3: Megan gets put in a clamshow stroller sealed for her
- 30:02Speaker 3: safety and Marje's we've already explained this filled up her
- 30:05Speaker 3: camera with photos already by walking into the park, so
- 30:07Speaker 3: she goes through them all, Oh, there's so.
- 30:11Speaker 1: Many photo oops, but they already filled up my camera.
- 30:14Speaker 1: And the parking lot parking lots Sea sign the tram,
- 30:18Speaker 1: a license plate from Canada. A bird eating potato chips,
- 30:22Speaker 1: my feet walking that boy you got sick on the tram.
- 30:25Speaker 1: Grandpa talking to a mermaid hedge, the park rules in Spanish.
- 30:29Speaker 1: A fat baby grandpa telling a story to a trailer hedge. Oops,
- 30:34Speaker 1: I erased them all.
- 30:35Speaker 3: Seeing Marjor of this camera here kind of did take
- 30:37Speaker 3: me back to when my Nan first got her digital
- 30:39Speaker 3: camera and she would just take photos of everything and
- 30:41Speaker 3: just go, oh, I can't waste it on this. I'm like, Nan,
- 30:44Speaker 3: there's no such thing as wasting when it's digital camera. Yes,
- 30:46Speaker 3: so Nan, well, then just take photos of everything, fill
- 30:48Speaker 3: up her camera and then she would accidently delete photos.
- 30:51Speaker 2: Good. I know it's great.
- 30:53Speaker 3: Is when Nan passed away, we went through a stuff
- 30:56Speaker 3: and I found her digital camera and I just found
- 30:59Speaker 3: all these photos that Nan had taken that I've never
- 31:02Speaker 3: seen before, and I was like looking at life through
- 31:04Speaker 3: her special because it's like, these are photos that Nan
- 31:07Speaker 3: thought this is worth a photo. And imagine getting their
- 31:09Speaker 3: carente mostly of her pets because their pets were her life,
- 31:12Speaker 3: and it's just nice sing.
- 31:13Speaker 2: It was like she was here again. Absolutely yeah.
- 31:17Speaker 3: But and Lisa go, well, Lisa says, let's go to
- 31:19Speaker 3: the Ultimate Sea Life Aquarium, but it quickly changes to
- 31:22Speaker 3: the Ultimate Sea Life Buffet, which I didn't know that's
- 31:24Speaker 3: a sign gag. But then takes clothes from the Lost
- 31:27Speaker 3: and Found because he does, because he's because he's a
- 31:30Speaker 3: wild and crazy kid. It just doesn't give her a toss.
- 31:34Speaker 2: Grandpa is winging.
- 31:36Speaker 3: Then they have an announcement over the over the speaker
- 31:38Speaker 3: saying it's time for the rock a Quatic Roll Rolacia
- 31:41Speaker 3: whatever it is, and just a show that features slime
- 31:43Speaker 3: move the notho. This is an octopus. I haven't wants
- 31:49Speaker 3: to get there. He wants to get in the splash
- 31:50Speaker 3: because he's put on his bathing suit.
- 31:51Speaker 2: He's ready for this.
- 31:53Speaker 3: Then they introduced slime mood the octopus, and I thought
- 31:56Speaker 3: this was done well in the sense of it does
- 31:59Speaker 3: put a spotlight on man we treat these animals like ship,
- 32:01Speaker 3: particularly in these water parks. It shows you can't do kill.
- 32:07Speaker 3: You can to kill a whale shows now because I
- 32:08Speaker 3: thought you could. I thought they stopped it. After that
- 32:10Speaker 3: that movie came out. What was the movie that came
- 32:12Speaker 3: out that was a Blackpool? Yeah, about the way they
- 32:16Speaker 3: killed the fish, killed the trainer or whatish blackfish.
- 32:19Speaker 2: I think maybe it is that one.
- 32:21Speaker 3: Yeah, but it was like a real spotlight on we
- 32:23Speaker 3: need to not have these animals in captivity anymore.
- 32:26Speaker 2: Well that's the I mean, the one that I've heard
- 32:28Speaker 2: about is that they will have dolphins in enclosed bases
- 32:31Speaker 2: and dolphins sort of unicated byala, which is you know,
- 32:35Speaker 2: they're sending it sounds and the sounds reburped the reab
- 32:38Speaker 2: of a wall going to come back to them. It's
- 32:40Speaker 2: basically gonna drive them insane. Yeah, so water park's not
- 32:44Speaker 2: a fan. I've never been a huge fan of water parks.
- 32:48Speaker 2: They as SeaWorld.
- 32:49Speaker 3: In Australia we have sea World, but it's not nobody
- 32:51Speaker 3: to level of see what they have in America like
- 32:53Speaker 3: in San Diego and whatnot. But we the most we
- 32:55Speaker 3: have is all we have a dolphin show, don't we
- 32:58Speaker 3: see the dolphin shows. It's different than the pool is
- 33:00Speaker 3: different to the one at like Seawad and stuff like
- 33:02Speaker 3: in America. It's more like open where it's I feel
- 33:05Speaker 3: like if the dolphins are sending out their signals, it
- 33:08Speaker 3: wouldn't be bounced to because it's kind of shallow. It
- 33:10Speaker 3: might steal I'm not too sure, but we don't have
- 33:12Speaker 3: kill a whale shows.
- 33:13Speaker 2: Like a good aquarium. Yeah, aquarium. I can't see how.
- 33:17Speaker 3: Fish wouldn't like to live in an aquarium. You're pretty
- 33:20Speaker 3: much safe from you're getting fed whenever you want, and
- 33:24Speaker 3: you haven't you got a kick ass thing part to
- 33:26Speaker 3: live in. Essentially correct. But at the show, and as
- 33:29Speaker 3: you're saying, was a big fan of the of the
- 33:32Speaker 3: slim move, I thought it was kind of a real
- 33:35Speaker 3: sad quarterback little bit later when they've just clearly just
- 33:37Speaker 3: got over Slimy and just dumped him in the drain.
- 33:39Speaker 3: Later on, but here you see the people tie his
- 33:42Speaker 3: legs down, so he's stuck there and he can't do anything.
- 33:44Speaker 3: He's cleaning the.
- 33:46Speaker 2: He's cleaning the windows, and he's also you know, like
- 33:49Speaker 2: delivering the State of the Union as the president or
- 33:51Speaker 2: something like that.
- 33:52Speaker 3: Just don't ink they and stuff like that, Yeah, Grandpa.
- 33:55Speaker 3: Then overhears and he said for not to push that
- 33:57Speaker 3: they won for an old man complaining. Then a guy
- 34:00Speaker 3: who turns out to be Marshall Goldman comes to sit
- 34:03Speaker 3: next to him.
- 34:04Speaker 2: Really weird line here.
- 34:05Speaker 3: He says, is this seat available? And he goes of
- 34:06Speaker 3: courses for a pretty girl like you, And I was like,
- 34:09Speaker 3: Grandpa's not a It's not an idiot. This guy doesn't
- 34:12Speaker 3: look like a girl. Why what is the point of
- 34:14Speaker 3: that line. It's just so bizarre. But he's shocked that
- 34:17Speaker 3: Marshall wants to hear his story.
- 34:19Speaker 2: Tell me more more.
- 34:21Speaker 3: Yeah, So they're sitting on a chair, a themed chair
- 34:23Speaker 3: that's shaped like a shark. So he tells a story
- 34:24Speaker 3: about when he sat on a real shark, and he
- 34:26Speaker 3: was talking about how he's in the navy and they
- 34:28Speaker 3: were attacked by a heat seeking missile fired the day
- 34:30Speaker 3: before by then, which I thought was funny. Then they're
- 34:32Speaker 3: playing the guys's play possum, but sharks love possum, and
- 34:35Speaker 3: they realized that they just sit on the sharks. They
- 34:37Speaker 3: can't do nothing about it. They eventually train the sharks.
- 34:40Speaker 3: They have a message in their water. You think it's
- 34:41Speaker 3: s o West, but it's so sorry to bother you.
- 34:43Speaker 3: We'd really like to be rescued.
- 34:45Speaker 2: Marshall.
- 34:45Speaker 3: Godwin introduced himself as a human interest reporter and he says, what.
- 34:50Speaker 2: It a newspaper that sounds going to die before I do?
- 34:52Speaker 3: Awd good that one. Yeah, you were't human interest, but
- 34:55Speaker 3: you know, just journalists in general. You were you got
- 34:57Speaker 3: yourself a journalist or a what.
- 34:59Speaker 2: Was what was it is yours? Tarshal? I was mostly
- 35:01Speaker 2: generalis I would call myself a feature writer. Feature writer, yeah,
- 35:04Speaker 2: because a movie review was not a journalist? Are they?
- 35:06Speaker 2: But did you really? But you didn't go and interview people?
- 35:08Speaker 1: Right?
- 35:09Speaker 3: So yeah, that I guess that's journalism. Yeah it is, yeah,
- 35:12Speaker 3: just a sub form of what so is?
- 35:14Speaker 1: There?
- 35:15Speaker 3: Is it news journalism? But was there like a hierarchy
- 35:17Speaker 3: of like when you were working at the ADDY, was
- 35:18Speaker 3: it like the news journalists were up here? Then the
- 35:20Speaker 3: movie journalists will like here.
- 35:23Speaker 2: I don't think there'snyone movie journalists.
- 35:25Speaker 3: Really or entertainment entertainment journalis Yeah, yeah, yeah, well they
- 35:29Speaker 3: they did. The news journalists look not look.
- 35:32Speaker 2: Down on you. But did you get that? I never
- 35:34Speaker 2: regarded myself as like, I mean, when I was working
- 35:36Speaker 2: as a news journalist, what you did do for a
- 35:37Speaker 2: few years? But you told me that yeah, genuine news stories? Yeah,
- 35:40Speaker 2: yeah for the ADDY I did. Yeah, I didn't really,
- 35:44Speaker 2: I mean not that I didn't have an attitude for it,
- 35:46Speaker 2: but I think you've got to have a very specific
- 35:47Speaker 2: personality and mindset to do that kind of thing. And
- 35:51Speaker 2: I was sit there and watch movies. Can I just
- 35:53Speaker 2: do that? Please? Yeah?
- 35:54Speaker 1: No?
- 35:54Speaker 2: And I was happy talking to people, but it's like
- 35:56Speaker 2: going out and breaking stars and all that kind of stuff.
- 35:59Speaker 2: I was like, E half of this is dull and
- 36:01Speaker 2: half of this is invasive.
- 36:02Speaker 3: You guys, I've spent the first twenty five years of
- 36:04Speaker 3: my life just consuming Hollywood that use that talent.
- 36:08Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 36:09Speaker 3: But missus Kay then gives out Larry the lamb to
- 36:13Speaker 3: reveal it's Bart. They're drawing him out of the hat
- 36:15Speaker 3: and the only things I'll bring home are notes to
- 36:17Speaker 3: The only thing I bring home in notes to parents,
- 36:19Speaker 3: And they don't arrive the way that they left, and
- 36:20Speaker 3: we get Marjorie and the letter says Bart is in
- 36:22Speaker 3: danger of failing nothing on none of his courses. Please
- 36:25Speaker 3: call me Bart's biggest fan, Edwkar Bubble. Missus Kay then
- 36:28Speaker 3: forces him to take the lamb, and Nelson's got a
- 36:30Speaker 3: rule infatuation with the Nelson's become a real punchline, now,
- 36:34Speaker 3: hasn't he. He's gone down the same avenue as mister Burns,
- 36:37Speaker 3: where no one's been defanged. Yeah, no one fears him anymore. Yeah,
- 36:41Speaker 3: and he's very emotional and yeah, so he says, which.
- 36:48Speaker 2: Is funny in some ways. But when you just suit
- 36:51Speaker 2: a particular story, Yeah, when you keep hitting that button
- 36:54Speaker 2: over and over and over again, it's going to like, well, no,
- 36:56Speaker 2: there's no point to this. He's become a woofs now.
- 36:58Speaker 2: It's weird. Yeah, it almost become a bigger version of Millhouse. Yeah.
- 37:01Speaker 2: You nine times out of ten he needs to be
- 37:03Speaker 2: the threatening bully. Then that one episode out of ten
- 37:06Speaker 2: when he's really attached to that lamb.
- 37:09Speaker 3: He was like, I remember a couple of weeks ago
- 37:11Speaker 3: he took the pills and he was emotional like a
- 37:14Speaker 3: woman with that one.
- 37:15Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 37:15Speaker 3: So, now Homer is cooking some bacon. He's drinking out
- 37:19Speaker 3: of the Flanders family reunion mug. He's drinking grease out
- 37:21Speaker 3: of the family. He's cooking bacon grease. Yes for the grease.
- 37:24Speaker 2: Yeah. Look.
- 37:25Speaker 3: Call back to the grease episode and Flanders tells him
- 37:28Speaker 3: about Grandpa's article. He says he only gets his news
- 37:30Speaker 3: from the internet, and he says, oh my god, you
- 37:32Speaker 3: read it, Gather. It's funny, it's poignant, it actually happened.
- 37:35Speaker 3: It reminds me of the Seidfeld. It's refreshing.
- 37:38Speaker 2: That's the rule of three. Yeah.
- 37:39Speaker 3: The Junior Mint episode available right now on our Patreon.
- 37:42Speaker 3: He says, my god, my family, my dad is interesting,
- 37:45Speaker 3: and then he's got the that must mean that Kathy
- 37:48Speaker 3: is funny.
- 37:49Speaker 2: Who is Kathy are you talking about? Kathy was a
- 37:52Speaker 2: syndicated cartoon in the Funny Pages, created by a cartoonist Kathy.
- 37:55Speaker 2: Guy's what I believe, which was, yeah, I don't know.
- 37:59Speaker 2: Kathy was a modern woman who sort of like, I
- 38:02Speaker 2: hate my appearance and having trouble finding a man. I
- 38:06Speaker 2: think a Trey Munk was kind of like she would.
- 38:10Speaker 2: That was her laugh or something. I remember. Thirty Rock
- 38:12Speaker 2: had a good yag about it. That's pretty much all
- 38:14Speaker 2: I know. Nicol, I had never seen thirty Rock. We've
- 38:16Speaker 2: just started watching it. Yeah, apparently only one episode in.
- 38:19Speaker 2: But yeah, I don't think Tina phe is behind it.
- 38:21Speaker 2: But Robert Carlock is sort of like the co creator
- 38:23Speaker 2: of thirty Rock. He's got a new comedy out called
- 38:25Speaker 2: the It's called The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkett.
- 38:28Speaker 2: Starting tracing Morgan and Daniel Radcliffe as well. Apparently it's
- 38:31Speaker 2: really funny.
- 38:32Speaker 3: How much in tracing Morgan being anything these days just.
- 38:36Speaker 2: Past that point. But apparently it's really funny. It's sort
- 38:39Speaker 2: of in the thirty rock vane because we don't get
- 38:42Speaker 2: really sort of joke dense comedies like that as much
- 38:43Speaker 2: as we used to. Know. No, no, we don't at all.
- 38:46Speaker 3: But it feels very much like a Simpson's live action show,
- 38:48Speaker 3: does it.
- 38:49Speaker 2: It certainly does. Yeah. Look, it's very of its time,
- 38:51Speaker 2: and it feels weird saying that about a comedy from
- 38:54Speaker 2: like two thousand and six or something. But it's like, oh, yeah,
- 38:57Speaker 2: we did things back differently back in the orts. Yeah.
- 39:00Speaker 3: But then everyone's reading in Grandpa's stories at the retirement castle,
- 39:04Speaker 3: maybe the best known Abraham in history. Then he tells
- 39:07Speaker 3: the story of being the shoe shiner at the train station.
- 39:11Speaker 2: I didn't like.
- 39:11Speaker 3: I didn't mind hear the gags on the newspaper. So
- 39:13Speaker 3: he's shining someone'shoes. Who's reading the newspaper. The headlines say
- 39:15Speaker 3: curly to shamp you're out and bike wheels now the
- 39:19Speaker 3: same size, And the train arrives. It's the Tinseltown what's
- 39:22Speaker 3: called the tintl Town.
- 39:22Speaker 2: Something, Tintletown star liner. Yeah, which route to Hollywood? I
- 39:25Speaker 2: do like the idea of this is when you're a kid.
- 39:27Speaker 2: When I was a kid, this is what my idea
- 39:29Speaker 2: of Hollywood was, Like all actors hung out together, he
- 39:31Speaker 2: all traveled together, they all lived in the same areas.
- 39:34Speaker 2: That's not what it is not anymore, but certainly in
- 39:38Speaker 2: this era. Yeah, I mean, because stars would be under
- 39:40Speaker 2: contract of various studios. Yeah, and it was basically going
- 39:44Speaker 2: to work every day. You'd go and you'd punch the
- 39:45Speaker 2: time clos so they have to work for specific I
- 39:47Speaker 2: didn't read, yeah, like you would sign a seven picture
- 39:49Speaker 2: deal to Paramount or clumb. Okay, that doesn't happen that
- 39:53Speaker 2: way anymore. Does it still to some degree, but actors
- 39:56Speaker 2: have a bit more sort of free agency. Okay, but yeah,
- 40:00Speaker 2: back in the day, I was like, No, you're essentially
- 40:02Speaker 2: going to work at the factory. You're going to work
- 40:03Speaker 2: at the store. You'd go in and you would have
- 40:05Speaker 2: lunch there at the commentsary and you'd see like pictures
- 40:07Speaker 2: from the thirties and forties or whatever, like sitting down
- 40:10Speaker 2: at some cafeteria table. I mentioned I think the last
- 40:14Speaker 2: time on one of the last shows who did talking
- 40:15Speaker 2: about that documentary on mel Brooks. He was talking about
- 40:19Speaker 2: how they still did this in the seventies even though
- 40:21Speaker 2: you know, the contract system had kind of broken up.
- 40:24Speaker 2: But mel Brooks was like in a head and office
- 40:27Speaker 2: next to Carry Grant, like carry g Cary Grand apparently
- 40:32Speaker 2: took a shine and mel Brooks is like, we're going
- 40:33Speaker 2: to lunch. Came on, Brooks. Everyone in the fifties spoke
- 40:37Speaker 2: like that, we Carry Grant especially, But so here's like
- 40:41Speaker 2: the epitome of Hollywood glamor and style in Melbrooks, this short,
- 40:45Speaker 2: little Jewish guy. It was just apparently charmed by Carry.
- 40:48Speaker 2: Grant was just charmed by him. But they'd go to
- 40:50Speaker 2: lunch at the Commentsary, like I'm having this and you'll
- 40:52Speaker 2: have that. It sounds more like high school. And people
- 40:58Speaker 2: always say, like, you know, Hollywood is just high school,
- 41:00Speaker 2: but with good looking people, it's like that. So I know,
- 41:04Speaker 2: I find that hilarious. But yeah, you're right in terms
- 41:06Speaker 2: of like it used to be that Hollywood stars will
- 41:08Speaker 2: all hang out together because that's what's your job. Yeah.
- 41:10Speaker 3: Well, and we didn't have access to their lives like
- 41:12Speaker 3: we do now as well, which it was very very
- 41:15Speaker 3: very tailored.
- 41:15Speaker 2: Yeah, but the.
- 41:16Speaker 3: Trainer arrives at various movie stars. One of them is
- 41:18Speaker 3: Clark Gable, but he's not a star yet is he
- 41:20Speaker 3: not yet? Know?
- 41:21Speaker 2: But he's going to be because Grandpa gives him what
- 41:23Speaker 2: gives him his paper, their copy of Gone with the Wind,
- 41:25Speaker 2: and he tells him to not tell this story for
- 41:27Speaker 2: sixty years. Boring, boring stuff, may line, boring stuff, may lie. Yes,
- 41:32Speaker 2: it's got one good swear.
- 41:34Speaker 3: And Homer then wonders why he never tells these stories
- 41:36Speaker 3: to us, and March is, well, he does. We just
- 41:38Speaker 3: ignore him, We don't pay any attention to him. And
- 41:40Speaker 3: he goes, oh, this is where I store Grandpa's stories
- 41:43Speaker 3: and it we cut to his head and it's like
- 41:44Speaker 3: an old school desktop, old school mac mac. Yeah yeah,
- 41:48Speaker 3: and it's just got recyclabin. He says, Marge's boobs Barton
- 41:51Speaker 3: Hawe like or something. But he throws home grandpa stories
- 41:55Speaker 3: into the recyclabin and then he said, ms, well delete
- 41:57Speaker 3: and some other stuff while I'm here, which is kids,
- 41:59Speaker 3: friends' names, driving, stick shift and history, and then it
- 42:01Speaker 3: says please contactism administrator.
- 42:03Speaker 2: So he's broken down. Lisa stick shift. Yeah, that's it, boy,
- 42:09Speaker 2: go for the nerds.
- 42:11Speaker 1: If you're not going to take care of him, right,
- 42:13Speaker 1: give him to me, how.
- 42:14Speaker 2: Come we don't get mad when I torment real animals?
- 42:17Speaker 2: I do it enrages me.
- 42:19Speaker 1: I thought you Hindhus were supposed to love everybody.
- 42:22Speaker 2: I'm a freaking Buddhast.
- 42:23Speaker 3: The Buddhast, but just came across like a real piece
- 42:27Speaker 3: of shit here, like just mean horrible everyone did.
- 42:31Speaker 2: Yeah that's true.

- 43:03Speaker 3: Lowry the Lamb for a pram ride, and she says,
- 43:05Speaker 3: don't worry about but he doesn't represent to us he's
- 43:07Speaker 3: the black ship of the family, and then she backtracks
- 43:09Speaker 3: things that's offensive.
- 43:09Speaker 2: You know, not all black ships are bad. I think.
- 43:11Speaker 3: I don't judge sheep by the color of their I
- 43:14Speaker 3: did up their wall whatever, then by instead by how
- 43:17Speaker 3: itchy it is the wall. Then they arrive at the
- 43:19Speaker 3: jazz hole and she asks what's subgenre of jazz? He
- 43:22Speaker 3: likes fusion, neo bop, afro a Cuban, but he rolls
- 43:24Speaker 3: away and ends up down at the drain. By the way,
- 43:27Speaker 3: the correct he answer its fusion, yes, yes, and she
- 43:30Speaker 3: screams his name down the drain, and then Agnes comes
- 43:32Speaker 3: out of nowhere saying, you're coming across desperate running. I
- 43:35Speaker 3: was like, I know what you're trying to do there.
- 43:37Speaker 2: Yeah, that would have been funny in the writer's room. Yeah,
- 43:39Speaker 2: I just I don't understand. Yeah, it's an eight year
- 43:41Speaker 2: old girl. Why would an old woman walk up and
- 43:43Speaker 2: say that? Yeah? Just is she ate or she not?
- 43:46Speaker 3: You know, like that It doesn't work when are you
- 43:48Speaker 3: talking to an eight year old?
- 43:50Speaker 2: Anyway? I like the idea behind that joke, and it's
- 43:53Speaker 2: it's a nice little throwaway. I guess it's like, yeah,
- 43:55Speaker 2: coming across needy, But if as an adult woman maybe,
- 43:59Speaker 2: but I do know just to an eight year old
- 44:00Speaker 2: has felt weird. I know what you're saying. It kind
- 44:04Speaker 2: of ties in with the the theme of the episode
- 44:07Speaker 2: of like older people passing on wisdom, you know, it
- 44:11Speaker 2: was more yeah, yeah, I mean, if we're getting real
- 44:13Speaker 2: English class depth deep here, like your cats, I'm having
- 44:19Speaker 2: a big stretch because that's a big stretch, because yeah,
- 44:24Speaker 2: I mean if Agnes was kind of like, oh honey,
- 44:26Speaker 2: take it from an old lady, don't be so desperate
- 44:28Speaker 2: or something, I mean, that's not as funny, but it's
- 44:30Speaker 2: kind of like, oh, but it's connected to what they're doing.
- 44:34Speaker 2: It's not good, No, not great at all.
- 44:36Speaker 3: Then Grandpa's telling the storybot how he got the idea
- 44:39Speaker 3: for the suitcase of wheels and he saw it in
- 44:40Speaker 3: the commercial. That's where I got the idea from. Then
- 44:42Speaker 3: Mitch Album makes his guest appearance, the author of Tuesdays
- 44:45Speaker 3: of Murray, and when I was like, what is Tuesdays
- 44:47Speaker 3: of Murray? That's what I'm gonna went, That's what the
- 44:51Speaker 3: point of this is, I see, and they tell him
- 44:55Speaker 3: to beat it, and then they're getting closer and closer
- 44:57Speaker 3: to him, and then six hours later they've grabbed him
- 44:59Speaker 3: and they' thrown him out of the door. Then he
- 45:01Speaker 3: finds Ralph who says clouds are god sneezes. So he's like,
- 45:04Speaker 3: I can do something with this kid, and he that's
- 45:06Speaker 3: his guest appearance. Yeah, he had to make a cameo
- 45:08Speaker 3: because we're doing a whole episode about him about his book.
- 45:11Speaker 3: And then arrives with Scotch and he says that Marshall
- 45:14Speaker 3: or Grandpa says the Marshal's more of a son to
- 45:16Speaker 3: him than Homer ever was, and he says, well, he
- 45:18Speaker 3: was more of a father than me than you ever wear, Grandpa,
- 45:20Speaker 3: And then Marshall's I think that's true, you say out
- 45:22Speaker 3: of this dad, and he's like, yeah, okay, sure whatever.
- 45:24Speaker 3: Then he gives back his commitment r this is weird,
- 45:26Speaker 3: gives back his commitment ring that he never told him
- 45:29Speaker 3: about a father's son commitment ring, and then runs off
- 45:32Speaker 3: and cry and just sort of sitting there looking awkwardly,
- 45:34Speaker 3: and he's.
- 45:34Speaker 2: Like, but I'm telling you now.
- 45:35Speaker 3: I was like, I don't, I don't get this. It's
- 45:38Speaker 3: just weird, silly, not in a good way. We come
- 45:43Speaker 3: back and Bart is now asking for the lambback it's
- 45:45Speaker 3: time for him to take it back to school, and
- 45:47Speaker 3: Lisa's tried to cover up for it by having some
- 45:49Speaker 3: toilet rolls with some cotton balls attached to it. And
- 45:52Speaker 3: Nelson and they say, what's gonna What am I supposed
- 45:55Speaker 3: to do here? Like people are attached to this.
- 45:56Speaker 2: What if I don't show up with Larry?
- 45:57Speaker 3: Nelson walks past and says, hey, I can't wait to
- 45:59Speaker 3: see Larry this week. And this is what would happen
- 46:02Speaker 3: if someone lost him, and he says, you'll see a
- 46:03Speaker 3: dark side of him that.
- 46:04Speaker 2: You don't want to know about. That's it for Nelson.
- 46:07Speaker 3: So like, I feel like Nelson needed to find instead
- 46:10Speaker 3: of having Bart running away from rats and cats, I
- 46:12Speaker 3: need to have Bart being chased by Nelson for ruining idea.
- 46:17Speaker 2: Actually, yeah, because what's the point in setting this all up?
- 46:19Speaker 2: And then they're not having a payoff for the Nelson
- 46:24Speaker 2: I know, because they want to have a payoff with
- 46:25Speaker 2: the slow move moment, because you don't even get to
- 46:27Speaker 2: see Nelson with Larry. They look maybe like he rescues
- 46:31Speaker 2: him and then Larry and then Nelson gets Larry next
- 46:33Speaker 2: and it's all happy. Look, there's no payoff to the
- 46:35Speaker 2: Larry story. You know, it's just weird. Yeah, Bud gives
- 46:38Speaker 2: back Larry, but he's all sort of beaten up and
- 46:41Speaker 2: sort of weirdly stitched together. It looks like Frankenstein's Monster
- 46:43Speaker 2: or whatever. Nelson's like, I still love you or something
- 46:48Speaker 2: like that, something like that. Yeah, because it's not a
- 46:49Speaker 2: good joke. You see him at the end, he just
- 46:51Speaker 2: looks perfectly fine, even though he was ripped apart to
- 46:53Speaker 2: pieces arts pieces home and then calls Grandpa Marshall is
- 46:57Speaker 2: part of his now voicemail message and he says, this
- 47:00Speaker 2: is home. You're too late for my love.
- 47:01Speaker 3: Homer says, I tried to end the cycle of neglect,
- 47:04Speaker 3: and he hits me with super neglect as you were
- 47:05Speaker 3: saying earlier. And Mars says, you know what, maybe you're
- 47:07Speaker 3: not mad at Grandpa. Maybe you're just mad at yourself.
- 47:10Speaker 3: So I can't be mad at myself. He goes even
- 47:11Speaker 3: when to look at myself in the mirror, looks himself
- 47:13Speaker 3: in the mirror, and he's like, tries to be angry,
- 47:15Speaker 3: then loves himself.
- 47:15Speaker 2: Loves himself, hates himself, loves himself, breaks.
- 47:17Speaker 3: In the mirror, and then gets angry at himself. And
- 47:19Speaker 3: Marsha sits there rolling her eyes, which I've wrote here
- 47:21Speaker 3: march rolling her eyes is pretty much the audience is
- 47:23Speaker 3: all of us. And he says, I'm going to find
- 47:28Speaker 3: another surroyged father to to share some life lessons. So
- 47:30Speaker 3: of course we go to the MANSI paid of mister
- 47:32Speaker 3: Burns and he goes there, and the advice he gives
- 47:36Speaker 3: him is that the Yanksty River I think he calls
- 47:38Speaker 3: it the Yxstay river swallows all secrets. So he writes
- 47:40Speaker 3: that down he goes he has something like Hayes makes waste.
- 47:44Speaker 3: He says, that's something that I can make neither of
- 47:46Speaker 3: these days. And then he says, because I've enjoyed this afternoon,
- 47:49Speaker 3: I'm going to only release a hound, not the hounds.
- 47:52Speaker 3: And then how Ma get shakes away by the hound,
- 47:54Speaker 3: And that was the end of that chapter.
- 47:57Speaker 2: And that's the rest of that story.
- 47:58Speaker 3: Yeah, how big Homer get in there Wilewoard Burns given
- 48:03Speaker 3: the time of day, just so many characters doing things anymore.
- 48:07Speaker 2: Again rule of three's kind of thing. There were surely
- 48:10Speaker 2: there are other older people as well. Have Homer going
- 48:12Speaker 2: to all of them because there are other gags in
- 48:14Speaker 2: here that can easily be cut out.
- 48:16Speaker 3: I mean, I think there's a good scene you could
- 48:18Speaker 3: have where he goes to the retirement castle and listens
- 48:20Speaker 3: to Jasper or the old Jewish going right, and Grandpa
- 48:22Speaker 3: sees this, and then Grandpa and the new and the
- 48:25Speaker 3: news Jasper whatever have almost like a jealousy standoff, and
- 48:28Speaker 3: who can tell them that the best store yes, and
- 48:30Speaker 3: then Marshall and Homer trying to write them down, and
- 48:32Speaker 3: that kind of there we go, not just him randomly
- 48:34Speaker 3: going to mister Burns's mansion and never seen again.
- 48:37Speaker 2: Once again, peals dan On guy fixed it.
- 48:40Speaker 3: He's apparently now written a book, but we'll get to that.
- 48:42Speaker 3: But Bart is now climbing down the drain with the
- 48:44Speaker 3: rope he stole from gym class. And this is why
- 48:46Speaker 3: I was talking about the family Guys skags where it's like,
- 48:48Speaker 3: where'd you get what do you mean? Jim class and
- 48:50Speaker 3: the custom millhouse trying to climb the rope.
- 48:52Speaker 2: There is no rope. We'll get to the ceiling somehow, sure,
- 48:55Speaker 2: So you could have easily cut that out and put
- 48:57Speaker 2: in another gag where Homer is trying to find an
- 48:59Speaker 2: old man who listen to stories because he realizes the
- 49:01Speaker 2: error of his ways.
- 49:02Speaker 3: But Lisa Loser's grip. He tells her to put it
- 49:04Speaker 3: in her teeth because that will shut her up.
- 49:06Speaker 2: Come on, man, these jokes are unworthy of It's not
- 49:12Speaker 2: in keeping with the why would Bart want to shut
- 49:17Speaker 2: her up? She's helping It's just why why is being
- 49:21Speaker 2: mean for she's helping him?
- 49:25Speaker 3: It's just stupid, alady. But he thinks he's picking up
- 49:29Speaker 3: Larry the lamb, but it's actually a rat. And then
- 49:31Speaker 3: again we get Lisa here asking Wigan for help and
- 49:34Speaker 3: he says, I'm an above ground police officer. You need
- 49:36Speaker 3: to ask the sewer cops. And she's like, well, how
- 49:38Speaker 3: do I contact them? I'm gonna be honest with these
- 49:40Speaker 3: there are no sewer cops, so no one's gonna help
- 49:43Speaker 3: the child that's down in the drain and stuff. That
- 49:46Speaker 3: is that lot sort of like your way of writing
- 49:47Speaker 3: out the fact that he has to try and get
- 49:49Speaker 3: himself out as opposed to the cops.
- 49:52Speaker 2: Even just the tale of the payoff of like there
- 49:54Speaker 2: are no just have just have Wigan running off going
- 49:58Speaker 2: on like that to be even better or have like
- 50:00Speaker 2: oh no, she's followed up with this on this obvious
- 50:03Speaker 2: lie all this.
- 50:05Speaker 3: It could say, Bart, stay where you are, I'll go
- 50:07Speaker 3: get mum and dad and they will come and help you. Sure,
- 50:11Speaker 3: there are literally other ways to do this, And he says,
- 50:15Speaker 3: She says, how are going to help Bart? And he says,
- 50:18Speaker 3: to yell into a toilet? Why would she just yell
- 50:21Speaker 3: into the drain?
- 50:21Speaker 2: That's where he is.
- 50:26Speaker 3: Homer goes to the Springfield Shopper to pitch his story.
- 50:28Speaker 3: Mondays with Monty and she takes it to the editor,
- 50:31Speaker 3: which is just the shudder. And meanwhile, while she's away
- 50:34Speaker 3: in the shedding room, he discovers Marshall's office. He goes
- 50:37Speaker 3: in there and he sees the Pulse Surprise application form
- 50:41Speaker 3: and discovers here that he plans to kill Grandpa when
- 50:43Speaker 3: they take a ride on the Tinseltown Star Line. It
- 50:45Speaker 3: at three o'clock Monday, and it's now one o'clock Monday.
- 50:49Speaker 2: I don't want to Having said that, there's a couple
- 50:51Speaker 2: of games we could have cut out, a couple of
- 50:54Speaker 2: we just mentioned. I would have liked a bit more
- 50:56Speaker 2: story development in terms of, like you see Marshall, like
- 51:00Speaker 2: these stories are getting old, or they're getting repetitive, or
- 51:03Speaker 2: even he's getting tired of hearing them. He's like, well,
- 51:06Speaker 2: I can wrap this up by bumping off this guy
- 51:08Speaker 2: and I'll write a best seller about Oh and then
- 51:10Speaker 2: you know, he told me the stories and then he died.
- 51:12Speaker 2: I mean, but we don't get that. We just get
- 51:14Speaker 2: all of a sudden, this thing out of the blue.
- 51:16Speaker 2: I get it sort of works, but I don't think
- 51:19Speaker 2: it a little bit more.
- 51:21Speaker 3: Maybe if they built up to it, though, it would
- 51:23Speaker 3: take away these shock value. Yeah, but I see what
- 51:26Speaker 3: you saying. They need to have this more scenes dedicated
- 51:28Speaker 3: to their relationship to Marshall and yeah, yeah, just him
- 51:33Speaker 3: telling stories, but Grandpa annoying him. But he's still sticking
- 51:36Speaker 3: about for the sake of the story, that's right. Yeah,
- 51:38Speaker 3: so he's not necessarily sick of hearing the stories. But
- 51:40Speaker 3: he's like, God, this fucking guy.
- 51:42Speaker 2: Yeah, you know all the stuff I have to do
- 51:44Speaker 2: to get the stories out of God, I need three
- 51:46Speaker 2: more of these stories, and I've got a book. Yeah,
- 51:47Speaker 2: I'll never have to talk to this guy again. And
- 51:50Speaker 2: they said that they're worth more to me if he's dead. Yeah,
- 51:55Speaker 2: but he finds the book is out of the Mouth
- 51:58Speaker 2: of Abe, written by Marshall and our Grandpa Simpson and
- 52:02Speaker 2: we see the poster for the movie Hank and out
- 52:05Speaker 2: of the Math of Ape Grandpa created by the Henson
- 52:07Speaker 2: Creature Workshop. Did you see that?
- 52:09Speaker 3: We come back for commercial. Grandpa is about to get
- 52:12Speaker 3: onto the train so I could die happy man. This
- 52:14Speaker 3: is where we get the first indication that Marshall's like
- 52:17Speaker 3: smirking and whatnot. Homer misses the train because we think
- 52:19Speaker 3: he's chasing after it, but he's actually chasing after a cafe.
- 52:22Speaker 3: The cafe Caboose marshallon offers Grandpa some wine. I assumed
- 52:25Speaker 3: here he was poisoning him, but that's not what he's
- 52:27Speaker 3: doing at all.
- 52:28Speaker 1: Drink upybe live each moment as if someone's about to
- 52:32Speaker 1: kill you, I mean, if it's your last.
- 52:35Speaker 2: Sorry my hearing age on the fridge, the only word
- 52:38Speaker 2: I heard was.
- 52:38Speaker 3: Kill Meanwhile, wilst that's all happening, Homer's outside the window
- 52:42Speaker 3: trying to get his attention, but he can't distract him,
- 52:44Speaker 3: can't get his attention, but is now running away from
- 52:46Speaker 3: the rats. He sees Slime Mood with a cameo there
- 52:49Speaker 3: from Slime Move. He's been thrown down the train because
- 52:51Speaker 3: people don't care about him, and the rats suddenly stop
- 52:53Speaker 3: and they're scared. And it turns out there's sewer cats
- 52:56Speaker 3: down there, and the cats start chasing after Bart. I'm
- 52:59Speaker 3: not sure what do cats attack people, So Ali evil
- 53:03Speaker 3: ones to evil stew cats. And he sees Larry, who's
- 53:07Speaker 3: somehow on a pole up the top. I don't know
- 53:09Speaker 3: how he's there, but he's on a pole at the top.
- 53:11Speaker 3: So grab Bart grabs onto Larry's the lamb and slides
- 53:14Speaker 3: down the pile to escape from the cats because he
- 53:16Speaker 3: couldn't just run away. Wouldn't running away be faster? You
- 53:19Speaker 3: would think so, you would think so. But again he
- 53:22Speaker 3: apologizes for ripping him apart. And this is he's coming
- 53:25Speaker 3: out of the pipe near the beach and Agnes is
- 53:26Speaker 3: just randomly there and she says this, everyone seems to
- 53:29Speaker 3: love this guy. I give him my number. I can
- 53:31Speaker 3: teach him a few things. Things he can use, like
- 53:33Speaker 3: it's a stuffed animal. Yes, so I think gag just
- 53:35Speaker 3: went on like one sentence too long. Yeah, anyway, I'll
- 53:39Speaker 3: teach him things things he can.
- 53:40Speaker 2: Use, like I don't get it or I don't like
- 53:44Speaker 2: it at Grandpa has now fallen asleep on the train
- 53:47Speaker 2: and Marshall, you think it's attempting to smother him with
- 53:49Speaker 2: a pillow. Lenny and Carl now randomly helping Homer and
- 53:53Speaker 2: they lower him on. They're on the roof of the train,
- 53:55Speaker 2: and they how they get on the train. They weren't there,
- 54:00Speaker 2: Homer wasn't having to get in the train in the
- 54:01Speaker 2: first place. Howd they kids up the train get into it? Listeners,
- 54:03Speaker 2: can you sense our exhaustion? Yeah, this episode is not
- 54:07Speaker 2: that long. It's not and we're just kind of like,
- 54:10Speaker 2: none of this makes sense something. What's happened now?
- 54:12Speaker 3: Yeah, Lenny and Carl lower Homer into the train and
- 54:16Speaker 3: he's like, oh my god, you got the pillow. He's like,
- 54:18Speaker 3: it gets worse, pulls a gun out of the pillow. Now,
- 54:21Speaker 3: I noticed, by the way, when Lenny and Carl were
- 54:23Speaker 3: dropping Homer in, the animators for got to draw the
- 54:25Speaker 3: five o'clock shadow on Lenny. It was just yellow and
- 54:27Speaker 3: I've never seen Lenny like that before. Yeah, I just
- 54:30Speaker 3: made a mistake from animation.
- 54:31Speaker 2: There where Also they're making the joke about yoga.
- 54:33Speaker 3: Yeah, so Carl gets caught on a pole, so he
- 54:35Speaker 3: gets stuck as a train's getting taken away. Lenny said,
- 54:37Speaker 3: I'll see tomorrow at yoga. Karl says, Jane is sick,
- 54:40Speaker 3: so Trisha is filling in, and Lenny says, I'm fine
- 54:42Speaker 3: as long as it's.
- 54:43Speaker 2: Not a dude. Good good for you guys. Yeah. Then
- 54:46Speaker 2: this is where.
- 54:47Speaker 3: Marshall says, I'm the toughest, one of the toughest beings.
- 54:49Speaker 3: There is a bi weekly human interest columnist, and Grandpa
- 54:53Speaker 3: is going to make him a fortune. But it turns
- 54:56Speaker 3: out that Grandpa was good at playing possum. A little
- 54:58Speaker 3: call back to play possum with the sw the sharks,
- 55:00Speaker 3: and he smashes the bottle over his head, but that
- 55:02Speaker 3: doesn't work apparently, so then he just pulls the east
- 55:04Speaker 3: up on the train falls over and a bunch of
- 55:06Speaker 3: boxes filled with hats fall on him, and that is
- 55:08Speaker 3: the end of Marshall Anddio's Marshall. Yes, and Grandpa says,
- 55:12Speaker 3: you know what, he may have been rid over all
- 55:13Speaker 3: these years, but at least he didn't try to kill me.
- 55:15Speaker 2: That's where we're at now. I love you. At least
- 55:17Speaker 2: you didn't try to kill me. Only with the different
- 55:21Speaker 2: low expectations, where would my dating life be without them?
- 55:23Speaker 3: Then the ghost of Clark Gable gives Grandpa a ghost
- 55:26Speaker 3: coin and says you'll be able to spend it soon
- 55:27Speaker 3: because he's going to die soon. And the episode ends
- 55:30Speaker 3: with Grandpa he thinks about a tell a rambling story,
- 55:32Speaker 3: but no, he says it's time for Homer to have
- 55:34Speaker 3: his time, passes the torch as time for Homer's first ramble,
- 55:37Speaker 3: and he rambles over the closing credits.
- 55:40Speaker 2: And there you go. It does over the closes to
- 55:42Speaker 2: the very end, to the Gracie film's logo, Yeah, don't
- 55:46Speaker 2: shush me, shush yourself. Oh, shush yourself.
- 55:49Speaker 3: Yes, And that is the end of Thursdays with Aby
- 55:51Speaker 3: an episode that especially if you don't know the source material,
- 55:54Speaker 3: you're just like, what on earth is going on? I
- 55:56Speaker 3: can at least give it some leeway. Cut us somewhere
- 55:58Speaker 3: when I'm like, okay, now, then I understand what you
- 55:59Speaker 3: going for here. Yeah, I can see why you're doing this,
- 56:03Speaker 3: but I still don't think you did it very well.
- 56:05Speaker 2: Yeah. That's the thing. It's not strong enough without the
- 56:08Speaker 2: Tuesdays with Maury connection. I mean, if you establish the
- 56:12Speaker 2: world and the story and the characters enough and the theme,
- 56:15Speaker 2: as I said earlier, then having Mitch album and it's like, oh,
- 56:20Speaker 2: it's Tuesdays with Maury. But yeah, you have to you
- 56:22Speaker 2: have to make the assumption that the audience doesn't know
- 56:25Speaker 2: what you're talking about. Yeah, you have to start each
- 56:27Speaker 2: story with a clean slate.
- 56:28Speaker 3: And they didn't always do that, But as we were
- 56:30Speaker 3: saying at the start of this, they were very, very
- 56:33Speaker 3: picky with what they selected when it came to references
- 56:35Speaker 3: from pop culture. Sure, and or they do it in
- 56:37Speaker 3: a way where it wasn't the episode didn't succumb to it.
- 56:40Speaker 3: It was just something that happened and it was so
- 56:43Speaker 3: off kill to that you went, Okate, I don't know
- 56:45Speaker 3: what that was, but it's obviously something.
- 56:47Speaker 2: Yeah, the references tend to be like lovely little sprinkles
- 56:50Speaker 2: on top of a beautiful ice cream Sunday, And sometimes
- 56:54Speaker 2: you'd get like, when I meant these sprinkles are third flavored,
- 56:56Speaker 2: like at the end of the Mystery X episode where
- 56:59Speaker 2: they reference the prisoner, Like, I imagine a lot of people,
- 57:03Speaker 2: as we talked about in our interview, I think with Bill,
- 57:05Speaker 2: what's this? I think that might have been the start
- 57:08Speaker 2: of not the rot, but so like, you need to
- 57:11Speaker 2: be a bit more careful with your choices.
- 57:13Speaker 3: Well, it's just episodes of so many characters doing things
- 57:16Speaker 3: that don't fit their characters anymore. As I said, jokes
- 57:19Speaker 3: assigned the characters, opposed to characters assigned to jokes instead
- 57:22Speaker 3: of jokes assigned to characters.
- 57:24Speaker 2: What do we learn? What did you learn from the episode?
- 57:26Speaker 2: As of Davis and I can't believe anyone would choose
- 57:28Speaker 2: Neo Bob over Afro Cuban Jazz. Come on, man, what
- 57:32Speaker 2: are we even doing it? I thought Fusion was your favorite.
- 57:35Speaker 3: Fusion is my favorite, yes, but Neo Bob Come on man.
- 57:39Speaker 3: I learned to never trust anyone who shows an interest
- 57:42Speaker 3: in you.
- 57:45Speaker 2: In more ways than one. Looking at you, Greg Taylor,
- 57:49Speaker 2: we trusted you from forward. Your name will be.
- 57:53Speaker 3: It is time for the Guy Davis new Nan Championship
- 57:55Speaker 3: for Thursdays with ab. The current leader board stands at
- 57:58Speaker 3: this in first position we have Philip J. Hawkins on
- 58:01Speaker 3: twelve points, In second position Kyl Muldoon, I'm nine, and
- 58:05Speaker 3: in third we have Adam Moorehouse on seven.
- 58:07Speaker 2: Take it away. It feels like ages as we've heard
- 58:09Speaker 2: those names. Oh, I bet they all been sort of
- 58:12Speaker 2: way oh am, I gonna pull ahead this time. Let's
- 58:14Speaker 2: find out. I'll find out if you can catch up
- 58:15Speaker 2: to Philip J. Indeed, one point goes to a murder
- 58:19Speaker 2: on the boring a gent express that.
- 58:21Speaker 3: Is Mike Salted with the one point there puts him
- 58:24Speaker 3: on six world on Mike.
- 58:25Speaker 2: Nice work, salty two points for old news. What's Philip J? Got?
- 58:30Speaker 3: The two pointer of there puts him back on fourteen.
- 58:32Speaker 3: Can clever Kyle get the three pointer and clawback at
- 58:34Speaker 3: that one point?
- 58:35Speaker 2: Let's see, Well who gave us story board with B
- 58:38Speaker 2: O E D. That's a Norm McDonald style joke there
- 58:41Speaker 2: that said.
- 58:41Speaker 3: Pretty clever title, I must say so, a very very
- 58:43Speaker 3: clever title. Indeed, it is Jet Gurdham.
- 58:47Speaker 2: You look what you did this?
- 58:49Speaker 3: Yes, Jack Gerda with his first points of the season,
- 58:52Speaker 3: I believe three points one on Jet Jet woo. That
- 58:57Speaker 3: was so funny that came on the car radio. Just
- 58:59Speaker 3: I'm looking around to play this the other day and
- 59:01Speaker 3: Ali it's like, did he made this song for Jet?
- 59:03Speaker 3: And I'm like, yes, yes he did. I'm like, you're seven,
- 59:06Speaker 3: you can just believe this shit. And now it's like
- 59:08Speaker 3: it's a song for Jet and that they love it. Now,
- 59:10Speaker 3: Really that's good Jet, that's good parenting. So that means
- 59:14Speaker 3: that the current leader board has not changed. It is
- 59:17Speaker 3: still Philip J. Hawkins in first position, now five points
- 59:20Speaker 3: ahead of second on fourteen points. Wow, Clever Kyle's on
- 59:23Speaker 3: nine and Adam Wolhouse in third on seven points. Thank
- 59:26Speaker 3: you guys for all of your new names there. Remember
