- 0:00Speaker 1: I know on Tuesday in sunrise, the Stanley Cup will
- 0:04Speaker 1: be in the building, will be there. Leam McK Henrik Lunquis, Anson,
- 0:07Speaker 1: Carter Paul Zannett's Wayne Gretzky. This felt like such a
- 0:13Speaker 1: critical moment, critical game. We've know both teams are skillful,
- 0:17Speaker 1: we know that they're strong and resilient. Did it feel
- 0:20Speaker 1: like one team had a little bit more will, a
- 0:22Speaker 1: little bit more desire and just met the moment tonight?
- 0:25Speaker 2: Right from the get go, Florida played a really smart,
- 0:28Speaker 2: intelligent road game, and we could see the first ten
- 0:31Speaker 2: minutes they looked like the better team. Edmonton looked cautious,
- 0:35Speaker 2: they were on their heels, they weren't making plays, they
- 0:38Speaker 2: weren't getting pucks to the net, really no threat offensively
- 0:41Speaker 2: in the first period. And when you win a game,
- 0:44Speaker 2: when you come back from being down three goals on
- 0:46Speaker 2: the road, game four, I thought the energy and enthusiasm
- 0:50Speaker 2: would have been breathtaking for the weathers, with these fans
- 0:53Speaker 2: and how great the fans are. But that just shows
- 0:55Speaker 2: you how professional the Florida Panthers are.
- 0:58Speaker 3: They just went about their job. What about their work.
- 1:01Speaker 2: They leaned on their top guys that they got contributions
- 1:04Speaker 2: from everyone, and I thought at the defense cor this
- 1:08Speaker 2: was their best game. Is a defense score in the
- 1:10Speaker 2: whole series, no doubt.
- 1:12Speaker 4: I was actually shocked at the amount of passengers that
- 1:14Speaker 4: the Oilers had tonight, Like I couldn't believe they laid
- 1:16Speaker 4: an egg like.
- 1:17Speaker 3: That at home. But all credit to the Florida Panthers boys.
- 1:20Speaker 4: And you could really tell that they were on a
- 1:21Speaker 4: mission for the moment you saw them in the tunnel
- 1:23Speaker 4: coming out. They seem confident, they seem loose, and they
- 1:26Speaker 4: knew that they were going to establish their game early
- 1:28Speaker 4: and often, and I really thought it started with that
- 1:31Speaker 4: third line. I felt like at that sixteen minute mark,
- 1:33Speaker 4: there was one shift in particular where I was like,
- 1:35Speaker 4: oh wow, they just took the momentum and I really
- 1:37Speaker 4: never saw them give it back the rest of the game.
- 1:39Speaker 5: Yeah, and I feel like at this point we should
- 1:41Speaker 5: not be surprised what they've done on the road in
- 1:44Speaker 5: these playoffs. It's historical, right, they come in and every
- 1:48Speaker 5: building doesn't matter what team, and then they have their style,
- 1:52Speaker 5: they know how to play, and on top of that,
- 1:55Speaker 5: you have a couple of players that made incredible individual efforts.
- 1:59Speaker 5: Start with marsh and I mean those goals are world class.
- 2:03Speaker 5: We talked about it off camera here how smart he
- 2:06Speaker 5: is with his stick. It looked like nothing was going
- 2:09Speaker 5: to happen, and he managed, not with full speed, but
- 2:12Speaker 5: just how he locks the stick of the defenseman. Then
- 2:15Speaker 5: he gets to the park, then he gets in and
- 2:17Speaker 5: we saw it in game one right, Game two two
- 2:21Speaker 5: s it's a thing how he uses his strength with
- 2:23Speaker 5: his stick and then small old dangles in front and
- 2:27Speaker 5: puts it in.
- 2:28Speaker 3: That was a masterclass.
- 2:30Speaker 5: And I felt like he was driving the bus so
- 2:32Speaker 5: you could see it already the first couple of shifts,
- 2:34Speaker 5: so he was out there.
- 2:35Speaker 6: I feel like teams will win back to back Stanley Cups.
- 2:38Speaker 6: Is Florida has a chance to do that? Have to
- 2:39Speaker 6: have a strong third line. I think you touch on
- 2:41Speaker 6: the biz. When I played Detroit Red Wings had that
- 2:43Speaker 6: grind line most recent history, HBK line in Pittsburgh, get
- 2:47Speaker 6: good Rose line in Tampa Bay.
- 2:49Speaker 3: This third line for Florida Panthers outstanding. Gretz.
- 2:52Speaker 6: When you played, what was your third lines like and
- 2:54Speaker 6: how important were they to the success you guys winning
- 2:56Speaker 6: Stanley Cups.
- 2:57Speaker 2: You got to have depth, right, We had Craig McTavish,
- 2:59Speaker 2: Dave and Pat Hughes, And that was the line. We
- 3:02Speaker 2: knew they were gonna go out there and they're gonna
- 3:04Speaker 2: work hard, they were gonna set it tone and they
- 3:06Speaker 2: were gonna be strong defensively and if they got a goal,
- 3:09Speaker 2: that was a bonus for us.
- 3:10Speaker 3: Right.
- 3:11Speaker 2: But you're right right from the first game and I
- 3:13Speaker 2: heard I remember listening to the coach after the first
- 3:16Speaker 2: game and he was talking about, you know what, we're
- 3:18Speaker 2: trying to keep Barkoff out there and we're trying to
- 3:20Speaker 2: keep Londell out there against them, So they're not even
- 3:22Speaker 2: looking at that line as a third line, they're looking
- 3:24Speaker 2: at a second line.
- 3:26Speaker 1: We're gonna talk to Brad Marshain about that third line,
- 3:28Speaker 1: about the whole game in a little bit, but let's
- 3:30Speaker 1: get to the highlights here. In the postgame show presented
- 3:32Speaker 1: by vand of Pharmaceutical, all the fans out fired up
- 3:35Speaker 1: huge game of year and Edmonton as they tried to
- 3:37Speaker 1: take the series lead. The big story coming into this
- 3:39Speaker 1: Cal Picker gets to start on the keels of a
- 3:41Speaker 1: spectacular Game four, but it was this man, Brad Marshen
- 3:45Speaker 1: just ready pouncing and then finish it.
- 3:47Speaker 4: And points it's about the details. I mean that's a
- 3:49Speaker 4: neutral phone face off at center Rice. I mean Pod
- 3:52Speaker 4: Coleson gets beat and then all of a sudden at Holm.
- 3:54Speaker 3: Rarely you see him.
- 3:55Speaker 4: Get beat one on one, he gets bita to the outside,
- 3:57Speaker 4: Marshy perfectly pulls it over going top shelf and like
- 4:01Speaker 4: this one. I mean, I don't know what you're gonna do,
- 4:03Speaker 4: Sam the Bennett Menace. I mean, how many goals does
- 4:05Speaker 4: this guy have on the road now? Thirteen goals and
- 4:07Speaker 4: this is insane, man, this guy's probably gonna win the
- 4:09Speaker 4: cards fight or Marshall picked her poison right, But just
- 4:13Speaker 4: horrible defending.
- 4:14Speaker 3: On both goals and not a good start for them
- 4:16Speaker 3: in that first period.
- 4:17Speaker 1: I'm really enjoying you still calling him Sam the Bennett menace.
- 4:20Speaker 1: He said, Sam the Menace Bennett. But that's a different story.
- 4:23Speaker 1: You don't do nothing here, and if Bob making stops,
- 4:27Speaker 1: it's been a huge evands. All the time we talked
- 4:29Speaker 1: about bumps scoring over the right shoulder, didn't happen on
- 4:31Speaker 1: that one.
- 4:31Speaker 5: Hang, No, when you get too close to Bob, that's
- 4:34Speaker 5: when he gets so good because he's.
- 4:35Speaker 3: Hard to elevate it over him. You need a little distance.
- 4:38Speaker 5: Even if you're tipping the shot or even taking shots
- 4:42Speaker 5: further out, he's always better.
- 4:43Speaker 1: The frustration continued at this point for McDavid. He'd been blanketed.
- 4:46Speaker 1: He got an opportunity wrung one off the post. This
- 4:50Speaker 1: is legendary stuff right here for Brab Marshah, dress completely
- 4:53Speaker 1: undresses Wallman.
- 4:54Speaker 3: There, boys like look at the requestioned his speed. It
- 4:57Speaker 3: feels like he's got new RFE.
- 4:58Speaker 4: Brab Marshaw, he's just high stepping through the neutral zone
- 5:01Speaker 4: and then obviously magician will work here.
- 5:04Speaker 3: It's beautiful.
- 5:06Speaker 1: It's another guy who's gonna get paid in the off season.
- 5:08Speaker 1: Now watch this.
- 5:09Speaker 3: Oh my goodness, he probably had three tickets to get
- 5:12Speaker 3: the end. I've never seen that before. That's something I
- 5:17Speaker 3: would do. Voice. Yeahhree nothing.
- 5:21Speaker 1: Third period. Finally McDavid, he breaks through some quick hands,
- 5:25Speaker 1: quick feet. It's his first goal of the series.
- 5:27Speaker 4: Yeah, it was unfortunate early on he had that glorious
- 5:29Speaker 4: opportunity on that two on one. Couldn't very Finally finds
- 5:32Speaker 4: at the back of the net for the first time
- 5:34Speaker 4: in the Stanley Cup Final, and I.
- 5:36Speaker 3: Mean too little, too late in my opinion, And this was.
- 5:38Speaker 4: The straw that broke the camel's back sort of speak.
- 5:40Speaker 4: I mean just on laser shot talk G's barred down
- 5:43Speaker 4: from Sam rein Art and we've seen.
- 5:44Speaker 3: This story before. Voice.
- 5:45Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a great shot, but he can't leave a
- 5:48Speaker 2: guy like that open in the slot area.
- 5:50Speaker 3: There's nobody within ten feet of him.
- 5:52Speaker 2: This is the Stanley Cup Finals, Game five, and he's
- 5:54Speaker 2: wide open and having lunch break there.
- 5:56Speaker 1: And that response was a minute later. This came later
- 5:59Speaker 1: on though a very ten goals in the series, not
- 6:02Speaker 1: enough five to the final.
- 6:06Speaker 3: Way stuck in there. I didn't know you were part
- 6:08Speaker 3: of this, looking way too seriously.
- 6:12Speaker 2: All I know is right now the Steamer's beaten Pink Tony.
- 6:18Speaker 4: The final Dagger, who might mean mugging over there?
- 6:20Speaker 3: How did busy Bets do tonight?
- 6:23Speaker 1: Hank?
- 6:24Speaker 3: I think it's time to go to commercial. What do
- 6:26Speaker 3: you guys think?
- 6:28Speaker 1: Now, let's talk with Brad marsieah before we get into that.
- 6:30Speaker 1: Because first player multiple two goal games in a Cup
- 6:33Speaker 1: finals since Max Talbott No. Nine, first player with five
- 6:36Speaker 1: roll road goals in a single top and a guy
- 6:40Speaker 1: who just makes things happen. He finds you on your heels,
- 6:43Speaker 1: he takes advantage.
- 6:43Speaker 3: Boys. These aren't tappings. These are just unbelievable individual efforts.
- 6:47Speaker 4: And like eck Holm is one of the best defensive
- 6:49Speaker 4: defensemen in the league, and he walks him like nothing.
- 6:51Speaker 3: And just check out the read here, like he knows
- 6:54Speaker 3: that Wallsman's coming over.
- 6:55Speaker 4: Folm works this triangle and and Hank, you mentioned how
- 6:58Speaker 4: strong he is on his stick as he comes here.
- 7:00Speaker 3: Look at how much weight he puts down.
- 7:02Speaker 4: On Waalman's so he can't knock that puck away below
- 7:04Speaker 4: the goal line. So that strength on his stick is huge,
- 7:07Speaker 4: allows the puck to come back over and then slides
- 7:10Speaker 4: it through the wicket, just like you said.
- 7:11Speaker 3: In game two.
- 7:11Speaker 5: And it's interesting to hear that he watched that so
- 7:14Speaker 5: because he was the master of that. He could stand
- 7:18Speaker 5: still and protect the puck without touching the puck.
- 7:20Speaker 3: He was just.
- 7:20Speaker 5: Locking sticks all around him, and it makes sense that
- 7:24Speaker 5: he looked at him a lot practice it a lot,
- 7:27Speaker 5: and a lot of it is determination too.
- 7:29Speaker 3: The strong hands he did.
- 7:30Speaker 5: We talk about that in the playoffs you need to
- 7:32Speaker 5: have a heavy stick hold on to but protect it
- 7:35Speaker 5: as well.
- 7:35Speaker 3: I mean, he's doing it so well.
- 7:37Speaker 6: And I mentioned that hpk line for Pittsburgh with Hagling,
- 7:40Speaker 6: your former teammate with the Rangers, Benino and Kessel. That's
- 7:43Speaker 6: what marsh feels like to me. Phil Kessel was a
- 7:45Speaker 6: first line player playing on the third line and getting
- 7:47Speaker 6: a great opportunity he playings against other teams third line.
- 7:50Speaker 6: That looks like what I'm seeing right now with Marshan.
- 7:53Speaker 6: He's a first line player playing down the line up.
- 7:54Speaker 6: Now you're playing against other teams maybe fourth and fifth defenceman,
- 7:58Speaker 6: or maybe fifth and sixth defenseman.
- 7:59Speaker 3: So that's opportunities. He's taking full advantage him right now.
- 8:02Speaker 4: And I don't think enough can be said about the
- 8:04Speaker 4: five men defensive effort each line who was going over
- 8:07Speaker 4: the boards for Florida.
- 8:08Speaker 3: I looked over at the scoreclock.
- 8:09Speaker 4: I think there was about three minutes left, and the Oilers,
- 8:12Speaker 4: with the power plays that they had in the second period,
- 8:14Speaker 4: had only generated sixteen shots on that So from Barkov down,
- 8:18Speaker 4: I thought that was Barkov's most impressive night. Knowing that
- 8:20Speaker 4: you were going to see McDavid's best. He was the
- 8:22Speaker 4: wet blanket that we all expect him to be every
- 8:25Speaker 4: game long. And each line followed up Sam the menace,
- 8:29Speaker 4: Bennett bo I got it in the first time in
- 8:31Speaker 4: a long time, but it was just it was just
- 8:33Speaker 4: incredible and in that decor, from blocking shots to closing
- 8:37Speaker 4: on guys, from when they went down on all fours
- 8:40Speaker 4: at the right time, to just being a position allowing
- 8:42Speaker 4: Brabrowski to get the strong side and net taking.
- 8:44Speaker 3: Away the fire side. It was a masterclass on defense.
- 8:48Speaker 4: So, I mean, we talked about the offense, but defensively
- 8:50Speaker 4: they were just so so sound.
- 8:52Speaker 1: And listen, there were some people out there didn't think
- 8:54Speaker 1: Brad Marshan should be in the discussion for Hall of Fame.
- 8:57Speaker 1: May've changed your minds during this series, wondering if he'd be.
- 9:00Speaker 1: I'm that Olympic team for Canada next year. I don't
- 9:02Speaker 1: think there's any question at this point.
- 9:04Speaker 3: Oh, I mean.
- 9:05Speaker 6: A couple of guys like that. No, it's happy to
- 9:08Speaker 6: boys the bees. After two rounds that DROPI turn
- 9:11Speaker 2: Out to the Sam Bennett's on the other side.
