Transcript
- 0:10Welcome in, welcome in, welcome, friends, to the newest
- 0:14edition of Sea Hawkers What If?
- 0:16It is the most unique Seahawks preview show in the entire multiverse.
- 0:21Boys, I'm your host Clinton Bonner.
- 0:23I'm joined by the one, the only, the great Brandan Schulze, and of course it
- 0:26would not be, it could not be, we cannot traverse the multiverse together, the
- 0:30Seahawks multiverse, without the protector of that multiverse, and that is Mr.
- 0:34Phil Lydick.
- 0:36Boys, I wore it yesterday 'cause I was ready to turn the page.
- 0:39I'm wearing it again, Brandan and Phil, because now I am squarely
- 0:43focused on this throwback game.
- 0:46Brandan, have you turned the page from the Niners, and are you ready
- 0:49for some Thursday night football?
- 0:50I'm not quite as ready as you because I have not gone throwback- Mm
- 0:55with my shirt or my hat, but I see both of you are locked
- 0:59and loaded with the throwbacks.
- 1:00So, I, I guess I got one of the throwback helmets there
- 1:04behind me on the wall, right?
- 1:05Oh, that way.
- 1:06I see it.
- 1:06I see it.
- 1:06Yeah.
- 1:06That always counts.
- 1:07Yeah.
- 1:07Very nice.
- 1:08So Phil, you got…
- 1:09do you have the proper cap on?
- 1:11Is your Easley jersey nearby at least?
- 1:13Is that close to you?
- 1:14I should have worn the Easley jersey, and thank you for reminding me.
- 1:18The, 45 would've been appropriate as we head into those
- 1:22wonderful jerseys tomorrow night.
- 1:24Can't believe it.
- 1:25I know.
- 1:25Getting stoked.
- 1:26Just get right to it, yeah.
- 1:28It's gonna be so cool.
- 1:29So excited for it.
- 1:30the NFL, wardrobe lo- overlords are, are excited as well,
- 1:35so it's kinda nice to also get that extra, just that extra bit of juice
- 1:38that literally everybody in the NFL world is excited to see the uniforms.
- 1:43Now, can the play be as aesthetically pleasing as the uniforms can be?
- 1:48Because I…
- 1:49that's what we're gonna do today.
- 1:50We're gonna get into the preview show.
- 1:52It is What If?
- 1:53For those that don't know it, Mr.
- 1:54Phil comes up with this big theme for the week.
- 1:57We do not know what that theme is yet.
- 1:59We, we're gonna learn it live.
- 2:00So when…
- 2:02if you're watching this live with us on YouTube, comment along with your
- 2:05answers, and along with that theme we're gonna see six unique questions.
- 2:09We do not know what he's gonna ask us, so we are gonna dance our
- 2:12faces off and answer these live.
- 2:14So again, you get a chance to do that with us.
- 2:17And it's a special occasion.
- 2:18Because it's a short week, we are doing it live, so if you're here with us
- 2:21live, you know, put your comments in.
- 2:22We'll try to get them on screen as we go as well.
- 2:25So Mr.
- 2:26Phil, look, we look at these Broncos.
- 2:29Let's, let's get to the previously with the protectors so we
- 2:31can bring that up on screen.
- 2:33I'll bring it up for you here.
- 2:34But as we look at these Broncos and we start to discuss them, is…
- 2:40we've been sloppy, and we've been kind of sluggish.
- 2:43And then there's the Denver Broncos.
- 2:45So what did you see versus those Super Chargers last week?
- 2:48They get the W, but should they feel good about that?
- 2:53I don't know.
- 2:54It felt like the Chargers, feel like the Chargers kind of threw
- 2:56this game even more than maybe they had a comedy of errors against us.
- 3:01We kind of both did in ours.
- 3:02This one, definitely the Chargers had more of those.
- 3:05When I was looking at DVOA, I actually expected the Broncos
- 3:09to show up a little different.
- 3:11I thought their defense would be higher and their offense would be lower,
- 3:14but they're both just totally mid.
- 3:16And you watch the game, and it's kind of that.
- 3:18their defense is, as far as DVOA, it's 14th, eighth against the pass,
- 3:24and I absolutely am sure that has to do with their pass rush, 'cause
- 3:28their pressure's pretty fantastic.
- 3:29What's holding them back is they're putrid against the run so far this
- 3:33year, 29th DVOA against the run.
- 3:35Hufanga's still really good, and we're glad to have him out of our version of the
- 3:39West, but we'll see him again this week.
- 3:41he for- he had a really nice force job- Ooh … on a tight end fumble.
- 3:46Edge rush, getting home a lot.
- 3:48they do over-pursue, so I think they're pretty vulnerable
- 3:51for misdirection, especially in running plays, other kind of plays.
- 3:55Number 49, Singleton, he seems to be everywhere, but I think he's probably
- 3:59more involved than he would like to be involved in, in some of these plays,
- 4:03trying to, finish things off.
- 4:05Zach Allen, he's awesome.
- 4:08Mm-hmm.
- 4:08And he also caused a huge fourth quarter sack fumble.
- 4:11But I'd also say, Justin was really fumble-likely in this game.
- 4:17He put it out there far too much.
- 4:20I hope Sam doesn't behave like that in our game.
- 4:23the offense, again, 15th, very mid.
- 4:26They had fairly solid protection, for a while un- unless they were blitzed.
- 4:31Lots and lots of play action early on.
- 4:33I would say this about Payton: he took over the call sheet, and he's
- 4:38still calling a super cautious game, maybe even more cautious.
- 4:42Dobbins is good enough.
- 4:44He's just okay.
- 4:45He does the things that he's asked to do.
- 4:47Nothing special, but he's fine.
- 4:49they were helped quite a bit by some friendly pass interference flags.
- 4:53So the yards were low, but they got quite a few yards off of pass interference.
- 4:57Nix fumbled twice, lost one.
- 5:00they got their very first down in the second half 20 minutes
- 5:04into the second half, to give you an idea how effective they were.
- 5:08It was kind of a, I wouldn't- That's crazy … be excited if I was a Donkeys fan how
- 5:12they handled the Chargers this past week.
- 5:14Brandan?
- 5:15Yeah.
- 5:16I'll go back to one thing you said- … that we'll see Hufanga
- 5:18this week, and actually we won't because he, sustained an ankle
- 5:22injury- Oh, I didn't know that … in that game against the Chargers.
- 5:24Okay.
- 5:24And so he is gonna be out, and, Patrick Surtain al- already ruled out too.
- 5:31Yes.
- 5:31So that is going to impact this Broncos defense.
- 5:35While they, they are a very talented defense too, I mean, those
- 5:38are probably two of their more talented players, but they're…
- 5:41You mentioned one of their big guys up front that is, is probably the
- 5:45most talented and, and a player that John Schneider I think wanted
- 5:48to get on our team at one point.
- 5:50Mm.
- 5:50Yeah, so th- so the bad news for Hufanga is good news for our Seahawks,
- 5:54'cause he is, he is everywhere, man.
- 5:57But he won't be there tomorrow, so kind of, kind of a nice
- 6:00break for us, and heal up.
- 6:01We don't want the guy to be hurt forever.
- 6:03Th- this could be…
- 6:04Look, we wa- I watched most of this game too, and P- you said it very well, Phil,
- 6:08like Payton takes back over the playbook.
- 6:11So everybody…
- 6:12Was it Davis Webb, right?
- 6:13That's the, that's the, the- Yeah … OC's name, right?
- 6:15So everybody expects, "Okay, he took it back from Davis Webb, and it's
- 6:18gonna be magically delicious here."
- 6:20And it just wa- it just wasn't.
- 6:22It was, it was more horizontal raid stuff.
- 6:26And- Very little threatening the ball downfield whatsoever, very little
- 6:32pushing the ball d- downfield at all from Nix, and I just wonder how that…
- 6:37Like, I just can't imagine they're gonna just keep tr- doing that.
- 6:42Against the Chargers, it's like they could get away with it.
- 6:45Yeah.
- 6:45And I just think that's not a pl- not, not a recipe to win versus Seattle.
- 6:50So I guess my caution to everybody is I don't expect Payton to be
- 6:54this conservative and feel like he could get away with it and
- 6:57still, you know, walk out with a W.
- 6:58So I think they'll dial it up in ways, and we're gonna talk about them.
- 7:03Yeah, Bo's short throws, like he's got the lowest depth of
- 7:06target in all of the league.
- 7:07He did try pushing it down the field, but it seemed fake.
- 7:10Like, nobody had a chance of catching anything he threw deep.
- 7:13It was kind of like, "Ooh, check it out, I can throw it far," even
- 7:15though no one's going to catch these.
- 7:18But, that's kind of what I saw.
- 7:19How about we get into our theme, gentlemen?
- 7:21Let's do it.
- 7:22Do it.
- 7:22Let's do that.
- 7:22You are headed to a high altitude if you're watching this game, the
- 7:27famous Mile High Stadium, and we would really like our Seahawks offense
- 7:32in particular to begin soaring.
- 7:34Maybe some altitude will allow them to soar as they head, just quickly
- 7:40brush off the last game, quickly go up to the Mile High Stadium.
- 7:44And gentlemen, what if our Hawks can soar at Mile High, kind of like Sam Darnold
- 7:51in the picture, riding the donkey there.
- 7:53let's have a victory, enjoyment- Very real photo, you can tell.
- 7:57Yes.
- 7:57Very.
- 7:58There's no doubt about it.
- 7:59Well- That, the whole donkey team right there.
- 8:01They just ride- It's weird that the Broncos would put a, a Bronco logo
- 8:04on a donkey and allow Sam to ride it.
- 8:08Well, they didn't allow it.
- 8:09He's taking it.
- 8:10That's happening tomorrow, Brandan.
- 8:12We're at game six, which means that's an even-numbered game.
- 8:16Clinton gets to go first.
- 8:17All of these categories have something to do with miles, since we'll be
- 8:21over a mile in the air at this game.
- 8:24Clinton, miles ahead, green mile, mile in my shoes, mile
- 8:30wide, extra mile, or 500 miles.
- 8:35Love it.
- 8:36Okay, cool theme.
- 8:37And we see Maximus chiming in, saying he loves the green mile.
- 8:40I'm not gonna go there yet, but I'm tired, boss.
- 8:42But first, I'm gonna go, I love it when somebody or even I go the extra
- 8:47mile, but if someone does that for me or if I do it for somebody, it always
- 8:51feels good to go the extra mile.
- 8:53So let's go the extra mile.
- 8:54Yes, feels like a brilliant teacher talked about going the extra mile.
- 8:58It's good to do.
- 8:59Clinton, what if you tell us which Broncos are going to require extra
- 9:05attention in this short week of meetings?
- 9:08They can only allocate so much time.
- 9:10Who's gonna be- Mm … focused on from the Broncos?
- 9:13Well, I mean, you think you mentioned them earlier with, with Mr.
- 9:16Zach there.
- 9:17I- it's- Sure … let, let me turn it over to they have some star
- 9:21power on their offensive line, right?
- 9:23So Garett Bolles being, being a big, a big one there.
- 9:26But you got, you got Meinerz who's a big name.
- 9:29You know, you got Mc- McGlinchey who we know from San
- 9:31Francisco for all these years.
- 9:32So on paper, it's a good offensive line.
- 9:36in reality and what we're seeing, it's been okay a- and it's been gettable.
- 9:42So Give me the Mike Macdonald's ability that if they're not gonna
- 9:48be able to test this downfield, and again, I think they'll try, but they
- 9:52haven't been very successful yet.
- 9:54So if we have our full complement of DBs, which we do, which means Julian Love,
- 9:58which means Ty Okada, you know, maybe we see some more Nehemiah Pritchett.
- 10:02He certainly earned some time there.
- 10:04But we have our full complement of guys, and that includes Emmanwori and Spoon.
- 10:08Well, guess what, guys?
- 10:09Then I really do expect Macdonald to do two things.
- 10:12Number one, get out of so much zone, dial up more man than normal because
- 10:17we're-- they are not field stretchers, so we could take more chances, but
- 10:21also dial up a little bit more blitz.
- 10:23Get Bo hot and bothered, get Emmanwori and get Spoon and Drake
- 10:28Thomas if his ankle's okay.
- 10:30Get them blitzing through various gaps throughout the day and heat it up.
- 10:35So if I'm looking at that, I'm paying real good attention to what could I do,
- 10:41to this, to this Broncos offensive line that's really good in name recognition- Mm
- 10:45but this year not so great in execution, and I wanna test that metal, Phil.
- 10:50Okay, their O line, extra attention, how we're gonna beat them.
- 10:53Brandan, some Broncos that should take extra attention in the
- 10:57small amount of time we have.
- 10:59Yeah, Clinton started to go there, I think, with Zach Allen, so I
- 11:02will finish it and also talk a little bit about Nik Bonitto- Mm
- 11:05because these are the two guys that, you have to worry about not
- 11:10just pressure, but quick pressure.
- 11:12And Zach Allen has recorded eight quick pressures this season, which is the
- 11:17most for an interior defensive lineman.
- 11:19Wow.
- 11:20And, you know who he's gonna be.
- 11:22we've, we've seen whether or not he lines up against Abe or whether or not
- 11:26he's the, the, whatever, right guard that we're rotating through, that's,
- 11:32gonna be where they're concerned with.
- 11:33Nik Bonitto, on the other hand, I, I think that Charles Cross
- 11:38should be able to handle him, but he is, he's generating a 6.1%
- 11:44pressure rate over expected- Yeah … which is the highest
- 11:48among edge rushers this season.
- 11:50So, yeah, and, so you, when you talk about extra attention, other teams
- 11:55have been showing him extra attention.
- 11:57He's been chipped on 22% of his pass rushes.
- 12:01Mm.
- 12:01So he's getting some extra attention, and he's still getting
- 12:04pressure over the expected rate.
- 12:06He was coming at Justin a lot this past week.
- 12:09Mm.
- 12:09That left side was, not doing very well, so that's a- But Bonitto's, Bonitto's
- 12:14awesome, and I do wanna say too- Yeah
- 12:15like with what Brandan's saying there, I think it's a great call The, there's
- 12:20a lot of data out there this week around that Seattle has went from
- 12:24being one of the teams that did kind of close to max protect, if you call
- 12:27seven-man max protect, and now they're one of the lowest in max protect.
- 12:31So- Hmm
- 12:33Brandan, if we got a chip, which I think is a good idea to have somebody
- 12:36back there to help with Nik Bonitto and that kind of speed, sure, you
- 12:39could leave Cross on an island.
- 12:41Bonitto's really, his, his get off is really elite.
- 12:43Elite, elite, elite.
- 12:44Cross is fast, Bonitto's faster.
- 12:46So it'll be interesting to watch, and if they flop sides, Abe has struggled
- 12:50this, this year so far a little bit.
- 12:52So can we, if we're gonna concentrate more on them, which I love the idea,
- 12:56Brandan, do we just do a bit more of, like, six, seven men back and then just
- 13:02throw it to the guy who's always open?
- 13:03Maybe.
- 13:04Yeah.
- 13:05And I mean, if, does chipping count as, max protect, or is that just chipping?
- 13:10I think that's like, it depends, I think, what they do after that.
- 13:13Do they go to the second level, or are they out in, or do they,
- 13:15do they go out in a pattern?
- 13:16So, but either way, I'm all for giving, doing what we can to, I
- 13:22don't know, give Sam a little, little more time in these games this year.
- 13:24Yeah, let's give him a little time.
- 13:25Little time.
- 13:26I like it.
- 13:26Sneaky, sneaky good question there, Brandan.
- 13:28It was like you're in algebra and you're trying to drill down.
- 13:32"Now, does this mean that or does this mean that?
- 13:34I just want to know."
- 13:36Great answer though, Brandan, on who t- really, I thought you handled
- 13:39the question exactly right, Brandan.
- 13:41Okay.
- 13:41I'm giving you the credit on that one.
- 13:42And now you get to go to the next category.
- 13:44Hey, I'm, I, I g- I get a point.
- 13:45He wins.
- 13:47so I guess I get to go next, since I answered that one,
- 13:51Yes … well, and it's my turn as well.
- 13:52That's why.
- 13:52So I am going to go with The Proclaimers and 500 Miles.
- 13:56Hmm.
- 13:57This is, this is perfect, Brandan, and do you know why?
- 14:00Do you know why?
- 14:00Because if you or I were to walk to Mile High Stadium, we'd go 500 miles,
- 14:05and then we'd go 500 more because from Spokane or Kalispell to get to
- 14:09Denver, it is just over 1,000 miles.
- 14:13So- All right.
- 14:13Funny … but you're not walking, you're flying, right, Brandan?
- 14:16I am not going at all, so, it's- You're not.
- 14:19Neither one.
- 14:20Well, Brandan, if you did walk there, what if you were the man
- 14:23to walk 1,000 miles to Denver?
- 14:24What would you expect to see from the two quarterbacks in this matchup, Brandan?
- 14:30Man, gosh, I feel like the answer is turnovers to both of this from what
- 14:35we've seen these last couple weeks, 'cause Bo Nix has struggled with turnovers.
- 14:39Sam's struggled with turnovers.
- 14:42It's, it's something that it's going to end up being the key to this game
- 14:46as to how, and really where they turn it over because- What we saw last
- 14:52week with the Niners giving them short fields, it's kind of what they were
- 14:56able to take advantage of the, m- in the Broncos game against the Chargers.
- 15:00They were able to take advantage of short fields.
- 15:03So I guess that's…
- 15:05I- if I'm to say it in another way, it would be that, it's
- 15:10been very difficult for both of these quarterbacks to drive the
- 15:14length of an entire field to score.
- 15:17Hmm.
- 15:17And against the Chargers that their longest drive of the day was a 60-yard
- 15:22drive that they ended up settling for a field goal, and all of their touchdown
- 15:25drives were on the, Chargers side of the field after they turned it over.
- 15:31So I, I think that it's, especially on a short week, I don't expect much
- 15:37to change in terms of turnovers, and that, it's, it's going to be which
- 15:42one of these quarterbacks ends up making the least amount of mistakes on
- 15:47the most important side of the field.
- 15:49Yeah.
- 15:50These quarterbacks are gonna play a huge role in how this game
- 15:52goes, as quarterbacks often do.
- 15:54But Bo- Bo is very likely to f- co- to fumble, and he did a
- 15:58couple times, just happened to get one back in this past game.
- 16:01What are you expecting to see from these quarterbacks on this short week, Clinton?
- 16:07okay, so the short week part I think is important, and maybe,
- 16:13probably for both teams to be honest.
- 16:15However, let's first concentrate on the Seahawks and what does it maybe mean.
- 16:19You know, sometimes it's like, okay, we have a really tough loss against the
- 16:22Niners, and I'm turning the page, folks.
- 16:24But we had that tough loss.
- 16:26We, we know we should have won and could have won, and we did not win.
- 16:29Okay, all, all good and fine and true.
- 16:31The short week m- really might mean just a lot of simplification from Fleury and Sam.
- 16:38So, and what- Yeah … and what does that mean?
- 16:39How does that come out?
- 16:41I hope so.
- 16:42I kinda, kinda called for it last week, be like, you know, maybe,
- 16:44maybe we just spam more JSN.
- 16:46You know, we watch what, we watch what the Rams do, and they're like, "All
- 16:50right, 16, 16 receptions for Puka."
- 16:52They lose the game, we like that.
- 16:53Laws versus the Bills, thank you Josh and company.
- 16:56And Mevis, thank you for- But that was their defense, not their
- 16:58offense that lost that game.
- 16:59Correct.
- 16:59Yeah.
- 16:59That, that, that is correct.
- 17:00Yeah … and so maybe it's just a simplification, and
- 17:04again, what does that mean?
- 17:06maybe it's just more, more short stuff and more easy stuff to, and more short,
- 17:12a quick game to, to JSN and company.
- 17:15And the other thing Can we get, you know, we're under center quite a bit.
- 17:20we're, we're play actioning, we're, we're running from under
- 17:23center a lot, a lot, a lot.
- 17:25Can we just mix that back up a bit more?
- 17:27Can we get our tight ends involved?
- 17:29Can we, can we rip some balls over the seams and, and access
- 17:32the middle of the field?
- 17:34Which I know we can, but- Oh, and this is a good defense to do
- 17:37it against … yeah, right, yes.
- 17:38But it's not, but it hasn't happened really yet, right?
- 17:41We haven't seen Arroyo on a seam, and we haven't even seen Barner
- 17:45on a seam or a flag really.
- 17:47We've seen lots of the flats, lots of, lots of tight end screens.
- 17:50Cool to mix it in, but can we, can we see that too, Phil?
- 17:53So, Bo- on the Bo side of it, look, I, I expect Bo to be under a lot of
- 17:59duress, and I expect Bo to YOLO, and I expect Bo to try and scramble, and
- 18:05I think we are very good at negating that with a spy, and I think we will.
- 18:09The one thing I would say about Bo and this Denver Broncos team, especially
- 18:13at home, is, what do I expect is if it's a tight game in, going
- 18:17into the fourth quarter, buckle up.
- 18:20But Bo- Hmm … somehow gets better.
- 18:22He somehow- Yeah, he does … they, they get better and they turn it on.
- 18:25So if we're playing with our food a bit, and it's like a three-point game
- 18:29in the fourth quarter, or we're up six and they have the ball, don't just
- 18:32count on it being like, okay, Bo's gonna keep stinking the entire game.
- 18:36He- Mm-hmm … has shown me time and time again, the game goes on,
- 18:39he somehow gets a little better.
- 18:41Well, both quarterbacks played better at the end of the game.
- 18:43I mean, Sam just about did what Bo did and, and brought the comeback.
- 18:47But I do think you've called out the path here, especially
- 18:50for this opponent, Clinton.
- 18:52They, their pass defense is all about their pass rush.
- 18:55And if, if Sam doesn't get over his thing where he's holding onto the
- 18:59ball too long, we're not winning this.
- 19:01He has to get into the quick game, because it's their coverage that isn't great.
- 19:05And so there, there cannot be this waiting garbage against the Broncos pass defense.
- 19:11I, I think that quick game has gotta be on point, and maybe
- 19:15simple, just simple like you said.
- 19:16I, I think I would love that as well.
- 19:19And you get to go next.
- 19:20We have four mile choices remaining, all the top four here.
- 19:25Mm-hmm.
- 19:26All right.
- 19:26You know, every now and again you wanna walk a mile
- 19:28in somebody else's shoes.
- 19:30Let's, let's do that walk.
- 19:31Oh, I think this will be fun.
- 19:32Here we go, Clinton.
- 19:34What if you could fill in for Fleury regarding the run game, which we
- 19:37haven't spoken of yet, what would you ask of Coach Hammock, and what might
- 19:41you- Hmm … try on game day, Clinton?
- 19:45Okay.
- 19:45There's a lot, there's a lot there, a lot of p- a lot of potential paths.
- 19:48Walk a mile in his shoes today.
- 19:52Look, the, let's first look in the mirror and understand what we are.
- 19:57This team went through, like, two evolutions, maybe a two and a half
- 20:00evolutions last year, and that was we were JSN heavy the first half of the year, then
- 20:06teams figured it out and we kind of just did enough to get by in the middle of the
- 20:10season after the fir- the first Rams game, and then we became a dominant run team.
- 20:15We had this, like, Pokemon style evolution.
- 20:18We l- literally had three stages last year, and we carried- I don't know what
- 20:20that means, but I totally agree with it.
- 20:22And we…
- 20:23Perfect.
- 20:23And we carried that forward.
- 20:25Carried that forward.
- 20:25We ended up with a 17 and 3 record.
- 20:27We were h- hoisting Lombardi Maybe our evolution this year is just
- 20:30happening a little faster, where it's, maybe it's a little more sped up.
- 20:34So that means we have to recognize that this, this team runs,
- 20:39literally runs through the run game.
- 20:41Right now we don't have the horses, so what do we get with Henry?
- 20:45Let's see.
- 20:46Does still sounds like we're not gonna get Charbonnet this week.
- 20:48I don't know, as we're going live, if that's been totally decided yet or not,
- 20:52or we could just expect to see him for KC, but I don't expect Charbonnet yet.
- 20:56So what do I expect?
- 20:57I don't expect any George Holani, literally as close to zero as
- 21:01possible, maybe not even dressing.
- 21:03So I would try and get Em- Emanuel Wilson up the middle, you know, A,
- 21:07B, C gaps, not really stretching it any further than that, really
- 21:10the B gap, as much as possible.
- 21:12And if I'm Fleury, I would look to have Rashid Shaheed in the backfield for a
- 21:17couple of, a couple of times to, A, keep it honest, do some things off of that.
- 21:23You…
- 21:23If you wanna run your boots and your nakeds with, with Sam, cool, bring Shaheed
- 21:27out there and fake a, fake a toss to him left and boot right, as an example.
- 21:31Yeah.
- 21:32Like- Sure … that's a way where I don't think we're gonna end up in
- 21:34a sack, because they've gotta honor the fact that the dude back there
- 21:38can actually run the wide zone.
- 21:41So th- those…
- 21:42That's kind of the cocktail I put together, Phil, is like,
- 21:44let's put Shaheed back there.
- 21:47Emanuel Wilson's gotta have a, the majority of the touches.
- 21:51Mm-hmm.
- 21:51And if we have Shaheed back there also, I saw it earlier, can we
- 21:55free Tory Horton a little bit?
- 21:56Can we get…
- 21:57If we have Shaheed's in the backfield, can we get a little more Tory?
- 22:01That's some of the areas I would do, Phil.
- 22:02And of course, Coach Hammock, tell your boys to put two
- 22:05hands on the frigging ball.
- 22:06Thank you.
- 22:06Yes.
- 22:07Yes.
- 22:07Go ahead, Brandan.
- 22:08How about you?
- 22:09Yeah, I…
- 22:10That's, that's the answer, right, is that, just Emanuel
- 22:13Wilson, don't give it up.
- 22:15And he's generally been good at that.
- 22:18He just, he faced a, a, a perfect punch from Fred Warner this past week.
- 22:23And fu- fumbling hasn't really been a part of his game, even dating back to,
- 22:29his, his previous stints in the NFL.
- 22:31So that's kind of why you have that guy, is just so you can plunge forward,
- 22:35get your three yards, and, and be okay.
- 22:38So, asking what I might try, I'd, I'd go a similar route as Clinton and, …
- 22:45'Cause what, we did the one little pop pass to Shaheed, and
- 22:50I don't think that's enough.
- 22:51I think you wanna lean on that a little bit more and work the
- 22:55outside just a little bit more.
- 22:57Because- If you're hoping for any more than two or three yards up the middle
- 23:02against this Broncos defense, you're pretty unlikely to get it because
- 23:07of the aforementioned Zach Allen.
- 23:09You got Malcolm Roach as well, and, D.J.
- 23:13Jones.
- 23:14And so I, I think that, Jones is a pretty good interior defender too.
- 23:18So, I, I don't- They mostly get killed in the outside.
- 23:22I mean, they're, they're bad DVOA.
- 23:24Right, right.
- 23:24If you drill down the 29th in DVOA, it's giant runs- But you don't have
- 23:28a guy other than, you know, Henry.
- 23:30I mean, hopefully he can get outside, but is that something that
- 23:35you go into this game relying on?
- 23:37I, I feel more comfortable relying on giving Shaheed five touches.
- 23:43I, I'm totally down.
- 23:44I don't know what's to lose on that, right?
- 23:47Yeah.
- 23:48The, the Henry part will be very interesting.
- 23:49Number one, will he dress?
- 23:51And then if he dresses, Well, he has to if Holani doesn't Oh, I
- 23:55understand that that's part of it, right?
- 23:56And then if he is in there, you know, it's a d- it's a dude off of a, you know,
- 24:00he's a UDFA off another team's scrap heap.
- 24:02And, but if you go watch his, what is it, UTSA or USTA, right?
- 24:07University of, Texas, San Antonio.
- 24:09Yeah.
- 24:09Go watch it.
- 24:10There's some f- there's some fun stuff there.
- 24:11It's like, oh, he d- he ran a 4.6,
- 24:13so therefore he's, you know, he's, he's not Jahmyr Gibbs.
- 24:16Like, well, no kidding.
- 24:17You know, we, we understand he's not Jahmyr Gibbs, but you could run 4.6
- 24:21and still be a very effective running back.
- 24:23So, let's see.
- 24:24He looked pretty shifty in his college tape.
- 24:26Shifty, and we shift to Brandan.
- 24:28Miles ahead, green mile, or mile wide?
- 24:31let's walk the green mile.
- 24:33Mm-hmm.
- 24:33Here we go.
- 24:34I'm tired, boss.
- 24:37Brandan, what if the Broncos try to lock up JSN?
- 24:42How might they go about this with their banged up secondary, and
- 24:46how should Seattle counter if they do choose to follow that path?
- 24:50Hmm.
- 24:51It is going to be tough with this banged up secondary.
- 24:55One of the things that, their secondary tends to do is, with
- 25:00Surtain out, and, I think even to a little bit, of an
- 25:05extent, with, With Walton
- 25:08oh, their, their other corner.
- 25:09Riley Moss?
- 25:10With, Riley Moss, yeah.
- 25:11And he has hurt ribs.
- 25:13Yep.
- 25:13But, when those guys go out, they are, definitely a, a more zone defense.
- 25:19And, I think, 'cause they like to play a lot of man-to-man with Surtain, with
- 25:24Moss, and they can do that because both those corners are really, really good.
- 25:29So I think with the banged up secondary, you're going to see a lot more zone,
- 25:34and, that's gonna make it, I think, a little bit more beneficial for
- 25:40some of these guys to find the zones, like Cooper Kupp, Sam Darnold.
- 25:44hopefully he can get back to, being, good in, in zone coverage
- 25:51because, well, actually, he has been good in zone this, year.
- 25:55He's, he's actually averaging 9.3
- 25:57yards per attempt against zone coverage this season, which is the second most
- 26:02among, NFL quarterbacks this year.
- 26:05Wow.
- 26:05So, That's awesome … that actually does tip it to, to our
- 26:08benefit as long as we have those guys on the field that are, …
- 26:13so, yeah.
- 26:15hey, how about getting Horton involved and,
- 26:18and, and, and getting him into some zone coverage?
- 26:20But I think if we're being more likely, I, I think, it could lean toward
- 26:25a good day for, Cooper Kupp.
- 26:29I have seen Sam throw some of his best passes where he fit JSN, like right
- 26:33between three or four guys in the zone honey hole pocket- Mm-hmm … type thingy.
- 26:37So, I like that.
- 26:39But if they're trying to lock up JSN, I ha- had to go somewhere else, right?
- 26:42Yep.
- 26:43Yep.
- 26:43How about you, Clinton?
- 26:45How are they gonna do it if they try, and if they are somewhat
- 26:48successful, how do we counter?
- 26:50Yeah, this is a bit of like changing the scorpion's nature
- 26:54type thing, that, that old parable.
- 26:56And, with Surtain or not, which will be not, and with Riley Moss banged up, and
- 27:01Hufanga back there who really brings a hat, like he's a aggressive safety,
- 27:06and he really hits hard consistently, those are major, major problems.
- 27:11The, that Niners game, what was it three-three for the longest time until
- 27:14that very terrible, fumble call, and then Surtain goes out and, and fi-
- 27:19So they just, they lost, and, and they really took huge advantage of that.
- 27:23But I'm not so sure they're gonna change their stripes, so meaning
- 27:27they will still play a lot of man.
- 27:29They will, they will send their blitzing every, every, you know, pr-
- 27:33a pretty hefty rate, but also they got the horses to go, go get it with four.
- 27:38I expect them just to try to s- say, "Okay, our next man up, man, man
- 27:44or men up can just still play man," because the data is what the data is.
- 27:49This year, Sam and the Seahawks have been terrible against man,
- 27:52and last year we picked the…
- 27:54We killed man.
- 27:56Like, you wanted to go man last year against us?
- 27:58We destroyed you until the NFL was like, "Oh, we can't do that."
- 28:02The first half of the year was like, "Sam Darnold can't beat us."
- 28:05And all Sam did for eight straight weeks, nine weeks, was torch people with JSN on
- 28:10his way to Offensive Player of the Year.
- 28:13And then they changed and figured some things out, and I, again, at
- 28:16that evolution I'm talking about, it's like I think the Broncos
- 28:20are gonna do what the Broncos do.
- 28:22that's how I think they're gonna try, Phil, 'cause that's what the question is.
- 28:25Now, will it be successful?
- 28:27I, I sure hope not, but I do think Brandan's onto something that as much
- 28:31as I'd like to spam JSN, throwing the ball 18 times this week, we really…
- 28:36If you go l- open the, the gambling apps, right, it's
- 28:38like, you're like, "Oh, okay.
- 28:39It's like JSN 100-plus yards is kind of break even money."
- 28:42Really?
- 28:43The next Seahawks…
- 28:43Yeah, well, that's like break even, right?
- 28:45It's like hundreds- Wow … like one, one…
- 28:46Yeah, you, this, that's what they predict, and the data tells them that, right?
- 28:49This is not just a dude sitting in Vegas in a, you know, a closet.
- 28:53Mm-hmm.
- 28:53The next Seahawks guy, it's like Shaheed at, like, 22 yards.
- 28:57Like, the gap is that gigantic.
- 29:00So to Brandan's point, we have got to find a way to get some other receivers
- 29:06mixed in, especially if they're like, if they're gonna play man and then also
- 29:10slide people to JSN's side, which of course that's what they're gonna do.
- 29:15So can we- Yeah … please get some other outlets, like,
- 29:19substantially involved in this game.
- 29:21How cool would it be if we end the game and we're like, "Oh, crap, Barner was the
- 29:25leading receiver somehow with like 90," you know, and we win going away of course.
- 29:29And then we'll just fall over and pass out if it happens.
- 29:32'Cause I mean, seriously, if we don't get a turnover and JSN isn't involved in
- 29:36something in the drive, we don't score.
- 29:38That's just how…
- 29:39If there's been no turnovers and JSN isn't a part of the drive,
- 29:42there's no scoring for the Seahawks.
- 29:44So when we ignore him, it can be very frustrating if we're trying
- 29:48to do this, get other people involved, and they're lesser players
- 29:52with less ability to get open.
- 29:54So it's a it's gotta be such a tough decision for someone like
- 29:58Fleury or even Sam to go with.
- 30:00He's like, "I know I can get this guy, but I wanna get these other
- 30:03guys and make them be respected."
- 30:05I don't- Yeah … I wouldn't wanna walk a mile in those shoes.
- 30:08That's a tough, tough, tough decision.
- 30:10But what would you do, Phil?
- 30:11If y- if you were, would you just play the, "Hey, we're gonna spam JSN"?
- 30:15Would you do the Puka?
- 30:16Would you do the McVay Puka and be like, "We're gonna do this
- 30:19until you show us you can't"?
- 30:20If they're only putting one guy on him, yeah.
- 30:23Or if they're, if they're not do- really, they need to do man plus zone.
- 30:27There needs to be a man on JSN, and then he's going into zone off that.
- 30:30If they're just playing man and there's no safety over the top, I- if I'm Sam, I'm…
- 30:35He's my first read almost every single play, even if Fleury doesn't call it.
- 30:39I, I don't know how one dude, especially with the list of guys
- 30:42you just gave me from the Broncos.
- 30:44This isn't Richard Sherman out there.
- 30:45Like, who's stopping JSN by himself?
- 30:48There's not a player in the league, let alone hurt backups on this team.
- 30:53Mm-hmm.
- 30:53So why would you do a lesser option, you know?
- 30:56But- Mm-hmm … I don't- Yeah.
- 30:58Well said.
- 30:59Yeah, I think Denver fans would feel a whole lot better going
- 31:01into this game if Surtain were healthy and- Mm … covering JSN.
- 31:05I think if you asked a Bronco fan, "Do you want 20 targets to JSN or five?"
- 31:11Bronco fan wants five targets to JSN.
- 31:14Yeah.
- 31:14Yeah.
- 31:14Fair.
- 31:15Okay.
- 31:16And now we move back to Clinton.
- 31:18He's either miles ahead or miles wide.
- 31:20I'm not sure which one is it, Clinton.
- 31:22Oh, you know what?
- 31:23Miles wide sounds like running lanes, and I want running lanes.
- 31:26Let's go miles wide.
- 31:27It does have to do in a way, and one of these guys is not playing.
- 31:31I put the graphic up there of our original who, who we hope to have to be our O line.
- 31:36We do have four of these guys.
- 31:37Mm-hmm.
- 31:38So we're talking about the wide bodies on offense.
- 31:40Clinton, what if you could push a button and have our
- 31:43wide bodies improve on offense?
- 31:45Give us your number one hope, hope that is, for the O line
- 31:49in this game for improvement.
- 31:51I w- I hope, want, need, I need Abe Lucas to play better football.
- 31:57Okay.
- 31:57You know?
- 31:57And, and so last week we covered, the Niners game last night as we turned
- 32:02the page, and one of the major points was they got rookie late round draft picks
- 32:08beating our stud tackles who are vets.
- 32:13Like, that's not supposed to happen.
- 32:15And, you know, you're gonna get got every now and again, but not supposed to happen.
- 32:19And Abe, I think, has been, now maybe it's because he doesn't have in,
- 32:23M- m- Bradford … what is that?
- 32:26Brad, sorry, yeah, Bradford Anthony.
- 32:27AB right next to him, my bad.
- 32:29Does have Bradford right next to him, and maybe that's really hurting
- 32:32him e- especially with the rotation between Beau and Haynes, and who knows?
- 32:35It could, could very well be.
- 32:38E- even with that, though, he is not, to me, he's-- he looks a little
- 32:42slower, he looks a little late, Right … and he's getting beat.
- 32:46He's getting beat sometimes to, to the outside or inside, and overall
- 32:50from my eyes, kind of wobbly.
- 32:52Just less than I expect from Abe Lucas.
- 32:55And I think Cross has had some warts, but overall I think he's been our
- 33:00best, li- in lineman as well.
- 33:03The other side of it is Abe to me, it's like he, to me he's been probably the
- 33:07largest disappointment so far in this offensive line, and is, and probably
- 33:11the biggest thing I did not expect.
- 33:13So Phil, that's where I'm going, dude.
- 33:15It's like I want not only a clean game, but a powerful game- Mm … and
- 33:20in the ru- in, in the run, and a clean game in the pass protect.
- 33:24And I think it's been wobbly.
- 33:25All right.
- 33:27Clinton's calling out Abe.
- 33:28How about you, Brandan?
- 33:29How would you like to see the O line improve in this one?
- 33:32Yeah, I would just like to see Zach Allen not have an impact
- 33:37on this, on this game at all.
- 33:39Ooh.
- 33:39And, so if I'm gonna have if I'm gonna put my number one
- 33:43hope at the tippy top- Yeah
- 33:44it's that he, he, he's not involved.
- 33:47And I don't have a lot of hope that they can get to that.
- 33:51But- Yeah … it's, it is my number one because that is the guy that
- 33:56has the potential to wreck the offensive line and make this a
- 34:01very difficult day for Sam Darnold.
- 34:03And if Allen's winning, do you want us just to play safe and hope
- 34:06the defense can, win the game?
- 34:09What, how, how…
- 34:10Like, let's say Allen is dominating our O line.
- 34:12Yeah.
- 34:12Is, what, how would you pivot if you're Fleury in that particular case?
- 34:16Like, let's just go quick passes, outside runs?
- 34:20I would go quick passes over the middle.
- 34:23Alex Singleton's one of the guys that other teams have
- 34:26been targeting this season.
- 34:28Yeah.
- 34:28He's allowed 21 receptions for 248 yards.
- 34:32That's the second most, among linebackers.
- 34:36And, and just their defense in general over the middle I think is, …
- 34:42Yeah, they're allowing 11.8
- 34:44yards per attempt on throws over the middle so far.
- 34:47So, that's compared to the outside where it's, it's very, it's
- 34:53been very difficult to get yardage.
- 34:54So I think going over the middle and- Yeah … is the way to go against this defense.
- 34:59And be super safe.
- 35:00Yep, I'm fine with that.
- 35:02Yeah.
- 35:02Okay.
- 35:03Well, so we know that- Especially if Hufanga's out because he's the guy that
- 35:07when you go over the middle you worry about your dude getting blown up by.
- 35:09He's the problem.
- 35:10Mm, yeah.
- 35:10Yeah, there'll be less hospital ball likelihood with this one.
- 35:13Yeah.
- 35:13Singleton seems like a good tackler, but not, he's not making
- 35:17plays on balls in the air, right?
- 35:19Is- That, that's my takeaway too.
- 35:21I've, I've always liked Singleton, and, I, I was a little bit surprised
- 35:25to see that stat, to be honest.
- 35:27Well, we have one left, so we're miles ahead of you.
- 35:30I guess I know exactly what, you're gonna pick here, Brandan.
- 35:33Miles ahead.
- 35:34Let's go to our head coaches, speaking of that.
- 35:37Brandan, so far Coach Macdonald has a head start over Sean Payton
- 35:40on calling plays this year.
- 35:42What if you explain your expectations in this head versus head competition?
- 35:48I mean, heads like they're brains, and heads like head coaches going
- 35:51right at it in this matchup.
- 35:53Yeah.
- 35:54It's…
- 35:54This is a, a wild one with Sean Payton taking over the
- 35:58play calling for the offense.
- 36:01And then I, I go back to those sustained drives that I talked about when we
- 36:08discussed quarterbacks because I would have expected that Sean Payton…
- 36:13They, they haven't gotten, they haven't had a scoring drive for
- 36:17their opening drive, the Broncos haven't, since December of last year.
- 36:21Wow.
- 36:21So the, the fact that they ha- they've been unable to really rally for an opening
- 36:26score, I, I think that that just- It makes it so critical, especially when you
- 36:33look at their fourth quarter performance, that you are up by multiple scores going
- 36:40into that fourth quarter because whether or not they just turn on the gas or it's
- 36:46because visiting players are gassed out, and that's kind of been a focus because
- 36:51our Seahawks players, there's quite a few of them who have never played in
- 36:53Denver and haven't had that experience.
- 36:56So I would really, I think the, the, the critical part to this,
- 37:02using one of the phrases from the question, is that our Seahawks get
- 37:06a head start- Mm-hmm … in terms of points going into the fourth quarter.
- 37:10Yeah.
- 37:10I, that's definite.
- 37:12And how do you think Coach Mike might pull that off if we need this head
- 37:15start going into the fourth quarter?
- 37:17How do you think Coach Mike's gonna outdo Sean Payton in their head v.
- 37:20head matchup, Clinton?
- 37:22Well, speaking of getting ahead, and q- kind of quieting down what can
- 37:27be a really big crowd at whatever they call the place now, Mile High, you know,
- 37:30we al- we all know it as Mile High.
- 37:32And, was lis- listening to a Broncos podcast today, and their take
- 37:36was, man, that place was quiet as can be, that for three quarters, the, I
- 37:42think the phrase they used was, "You could hear a rat piss on cotton," which
- 37:46was, which was, never heard that one.
- 37:48That's pretty good.
- 37:49so but they obviously can get into the game as well.
- 37:53So can we, we keep talking a little bit about how we, how, how we probably
- 37:57need to play it safe and play it safe and be a little cautious, and
- 38:00I understand that's the The kind of, quote-unquote, "right reaction."
- 38:07But I also think playing it safe against the Broncos from Macdonald's perspective
- 38:10and Fleury's perspective can get you into a low-scoring game in the fourth quarter
- 38:16on the road, and it's gonna be cold also.
- 38:19You know, 42 degrees is a cold day.
- 38:21I don't love that recipe.
- 38:23I don't wanna look up and be like, "Oh, it's, " I don't know,
- 38:26"16-14 heading into the fourth," or midway through the fourth.
- 38:29No, thank you.
- 38:30So I know the propensity and the, "Hey, we need to be safe or we need to be quick."
- 38:36I get all that.
- 38:37But could I interest you in 10-0 Seattle?
- 38:40Going into the fourth.
- 38:41Yeah, if there's a zero with the Broncos, y- you could interest me in that.
- 38:44But remember, the Broncos were down 16-nothing to the- That's
- 38:48true … Los Angeles Rams at halftime.
- 38:50Mm-hmm.
- 38:50And then they won the game.
- 38:51Yeah, that's right.
- 38:51so what I'm more interested in is can we be, can we still be
- 38:56explosive, can we still be explosive and not turtle up too, too much?
- 39:01Yeah.
- 39:01Because we don't have the running backs to kinda lean on and rely on.
- 39:04We're not pass blocking great.
- 39:06It's okay, it's not great, so we're not getting explosives from
- 39:09our running backs because we're just not, the talent's not there.
- 39:12Can we be explosive early and take advantage that this team, the Broncos, are
- 39:17very hurt in their, in one of their core areas where they're actually quite good?
- 39:21We, and we talked about that all, all time, all, all, this whole game long.
- 39:24So to add on to Brandan's point, man, can we just get into the fourth quarter
- 39:28with a healthy 13, 14-point lead as we enter the fourth, and not get into this
- 39:35tit for tat of conservatism- Mm-hmm … in the fourth quarter on the road?
- 39:39So if I'm Macdonald and I'm talking to Fleury- I think you gotta live with
- 39:44a little bit more risk than we've been talking about so far, guys But
- 39:46the, the thing is, is they haven't been turning the ball over when
- 39:49they're trying to be re- Explosive
- 39:53risk-taking.
- 39:53That's right.
- 39:54Yeah.
- 39:54Or, and, and make explosive plays.
- 39:55They've been getting- they've been turning the ball over when they've
- 39:58been trying to be risk-averse.
- 40:00Short- Well, I mean, both, both ways though, right?
- 40:03I mean, so both ways, the shots are Arroyo, the try to Arroyo.
- 40:06It's not that it's a huge risk, it's not huge downfield but, you know- Yeah
- 40:09it's a shot to a title.
- 40:10That's the one.
- 40:11I- okay.
- 40:11But if we can have the turnovers be down there on the other
- 40:14end of the field, so what?
- 40:15But if it's because I'm holding onto the ball and I fumble it,
- 40:18I don't love that, you know?
- 40:19Or the- that's- that kind of stuff can't happen in this game.
- 40:22We can't fumble because fumble just gives away points.
- 40:25Yeah.
- 40:25Long distance picks, you might get the ball punted back to you.
- 40:29You can't fumble.
- 40:30Can't.
- 40:30Yeah.
- 40:31I love what Lisa's saying here, Whistlejacket on screen, saying
- 40:34that she, she wants Mike to dial up some Flores-style madness
- 40:37to con- to confound Nix.
- 40:38Okay.
- 40:39And that's a, you know, a great point.
- 40:40We absolutely can.
- 40:42yeah, he's, he's confoundable, if that, if that is such a word, right?
- 40:45So it can be done.
- 40:47But yeah, we gotta remember, Flores is blitzing, I think, at, like,
- 40:5090% rate at some, some instances.
- 40:53I don't think Mike is gonna do that, nor does he need to go that freaking crazy
- 40:58to, to get the result we're after.
- 41:00And the defense can score on this team by getting after Bo.
- 41:04There's def- you know, could get us into good positions for scoring.
- 41:07So that kind of, that kind of somewhat risk I'm down with as well.
- 41:11What I meant by risk-averse in fumbling is let's hold onto the ball
- 41:14when we're a running back, not try to make huge plays by getting reckless,
- 41:18and as a quarterback, let's not hold onto the ball, let's release the ball
- 41:22so that we can't get sack fumbles.
- 41:24I- Mm-hmm … that kind of risk-averse we could improve in, right?
- 41:27I agree.
- 41:29Yeah.
- 41:29For sure.
- 41:30Okay, we are gonna get to your wishes, your what if Super Hawks,
- 41:32but first, from the Discord we have our from the Flock wishes.
- 41:37There's a magic wishing well.
- 41:39Brandan, how do people get a chance to drop these wishes into the magic wishing
- 41:43well that goes from the Discord to Lumen and then out to Phil's iPad somehow?
- 41:50Yeah, if you can't make it to the Flockers wishing well there outside Lumen
- 41:54Field, you can go to getintheflock.com.
- 41:57You can help support the show.
- 41:59You can get into our Discord for five bucks a month, and we have
- 42:03this, what if channel that you can drop your wishes into.
- 42:07And we got a lot.
- 42:08We have Witherfork, "Win the catfishing turnover battle."
- 42:12That would win for us.
- 42:14Sabin's Sint Studio, "Wish no fumbles by running backs."
- 42:17Yes.
- 42:19RightHandDan, "An opening drive that actually has points at the end."
- 42:21Sounds good.
- 42:22Sabins has another one, "Tory Horton gets more snaps than Shaheed
- 42:26or more wide receiver snaps."
- 42:27I- that, we could go for that.
- 42:30Carly, "Sam looks like the guy who won us a Super Bowl again."
- 42:34I like that.
- 42:34Sabins- Mm … is going again, "Sam Darnold- Throw no INTs.
- 42:40Gornish, four yards or more per carry from the running backs.
- 42:43That's okay.
- 42:45Zero fumbles per game, and then I don't care what the yards per carry are.
- 42:48Sabins, we shut out the donkeys and humiliate Sean Payton bunny.
- 42:52PFF eats humble pie and finally gives Murph the 100 rating he
- 42:56deserves, even if he has to break the scale and play at 111 to get it.
- 43:00Hmm.
- 43:01Interesting.
- 43:02Godzirwa, no Holani, more Horton, more Beau Stephens.
- 43:08HolyCatfish says, zero turnovers lost by the offense and special teams combined.
- 43:13Yokai has three.
- 43:14Number one, cohesive O-line play.
- 43:16Sam versus Drew does not matter with this OL version, is his opinion.
- 43:22Wish two, displaying tough love to Fleury.
- 43:24And the O for destroying their points against league ranking.
- 43:30Number three, speedy and cohesive kick return coverage.
- 43:33Coach J is on notice.
- 43:35Then we have Josh.
- 43:36Offensive line holds up so the run game can function and Darnold is not pressured
- 43:40as much so that he can feel comfortable in the pocket and execute plays.
- 43:44I like that.
- 43:44I would also like Sam to not allow himself to be pressured by holding
- 43:48onto the ball longer than anyone else.
- 43:50Jeremy, wish we get the tight ends more involved.
- 43:53I thought Fleury was a tight ends coach.
- 43:55Come on, man.
- 43:58And then we get playoff Sam, not New York Jets Sam.
- 44:02Oh, that's a, that's cold, but, it's, it's icy cold for a reason.
- 44:07Little cold.
- 44:07Any favorites standing out to you there, Brandan?
- 44:10Yeah, I'm with Jeremy.
- 44:11The getting the tight ends involved is, is gotta be the number one for
- 44:15me, and I, I feel like it's, we're now going into week six, and I've,
- 44:22I've only felt satiated by the amount of tight end use w- one time against
- 44:27that Washington Commanders defense, and that ended up resulting in a loss,
- 44:32but I, I wanna see us get it in a win.
- 44:35Yeah, that sounds fantastic.
- 44:36Clinton, how about you?
- 44:37Do any of these pop out to you?
- 44:38You have many wishes.
- 44:40Yes, I love the idea of Byron Murphy, playing at 111%,
- 44:44above it, whatever that is.
- 44:45I w- would've made it 112%, just saying.
- 44:48But, but overall, I love the idea of Byron Murphy continuing
- 44:52to earn his recognition, not just like, "Oh, cool, you're one of the
- 44:56best in the game," and you don't have to show it every single week.
- 44:58No, no, no, no.
- 44:59You're as, you're as crazy and disruptive as you are week in, week out, and
- 45:04everybody's taking notice with these beautiful- Mm-hmm … uniforms under the
- 45:08bright lights in Thursday Night Football.
- 45:10Would love that for Murph.
- 45:11Yeah, he's going to.
- 45:13He dominates.
- 45:14This is time for our host What If Super Hawks, been doing
- 45:19pretty good on these this year.
- 45:21We need a good one here this week, and Clinton gets to select his wish first.
- 45:27Yeah, so I, you know, guys, I often like to come up with a number
- 45:31and say, "I think this number matters," and sometimes I'm right.
- 45:34this time, what I want, I think this will do it.
- 45:37It's like if this happens, then I think not only do we win, but I think
- 45:40we have a collective breath to take.
- 45:43I want Sam Darnold at 70% completion rate.
- 45:47And you know that, and I'm not gonna put a high number, like how many attempts,
- 45:50this, that, and the other thing.
- 45:51The game will play out the way the game plays out.
- 45:5370% or higher completion rate, I think that means we get what we want
- 45:58from our quarterback I like that.
- 46:0070, yeah, his completion's down to, like, 65 this year or something.
- 46:03It's a little lower than it has been.
- 46:05Yep.
- 46:05and he's not really trying to push the ball down like he has in the past either.
- 46:12So that, that's something I think's gonna come around.
- 46:15I'm hoping you're right.
- 46:15I, I think Fleury, I don't think Fleury and Sam need to
- 46:19dissolve an older marriage yet.
- 46:21I think they can work through, a little bit of counseling,
- 46:23get in the room together.
- 46:24work through some ideas.
- 46:26And I think they're gonna get on page and get the chemistry going here
- 46:29pretty soon, and I hope it's this.
- 46:30Hope it's tomorrow night.
- 46:32Yes.
- 46:32Brandan, how about you?
- 46:34Yeah.
- 46:34I think it's a little early to, to worry about that marriage between
- 46:38the coach and offensive coordinator.
- 46:40But, since, Clinton went with the offensive side, I'm gonna
- 46:44go over to the defense and make Nick Emmanwori my What If SuperHawk.
- 46:49He is back.
- 46:50He is fully healthy.
- 46:51He played almost 95 or at least 95% of the snaps- Geez … last
- 46:56week against the Niners.
- 46:58And so, a, a nice big game from Nick Emmanwori, who can, he can
- 47:04be on the field, whether or not they're running the football, whether
- 47:08or not they're passing the football.
- 47:10And so I will say, two tackles for a loss by Nick Emmanwori.
- 47:17Two TFLs for Nick Emmanwori.
- 47:21I like it.
- 47:21Love it.
- 47:22I like it a lot.
- 47:22I think there's a great chance of, both of these happening.
- 47:26You've each taken one the last couple weeks, so Clinton keeps his
- 47:29narrow lead on picking these games.
- 47:32He's up three to two.
- 47:34Clinton has to go first this week, though.
- 47:37Clinton has to go first.
- 47:38How, what do you expect for a score in this matchup?
- 47:41Oh, I expect it to be closer than I want it to be, is, is what I expect.
- 47:45And I, I go back every single week.
- 47:47I'm like, "We're gonna blow the, I think we're gonna blow the
- 47:49Niners out," and then we don't.
- 47:50and, "We're gonna blow the Command," and then we don't.
- 47:52so I just think it's gonna be closer.
- 47:55And yeah, I don't know.
- 47:57At some point, guys, I think Payton is, again, not gonna do the same old thing
- 48:03and be like, "He, I can get away with this like I did versus the Chargers,"
- 48:05'cause they got away with that.
- 48:07They got away with that win because it's the Chargers.
- 48:10And I think Sean Payton's smart enough to be like, "Ain't gonna work here.
- 48:13I need to change.
- 48:14I need to change this week."
- 48:16With all that being said, whew, 20 20-19 Seahawks?
- 48:23Ooh.
- 48:24One day it's all gonna come together and we're gonna blow somebody out here soon.
- 48:27But it might- I hope it's tomorrow.
- 48:28It'd be great … it might be after we get our mini bye.
- 48:30Maybe that'll be the time that, Brian and Sam get together.
- 48:34Or this could be the one where it's like, we're just going with the simple stuff,
- 48:37and we're just doing the simple stuff, and we have a really cohesive offense.
- 48:41I would love it.
- 48:42I like this 43 to 8 Hawks.
- 48:44I, I feel like- Yeah … the Seahawks and Denver, there's something about those
- 48:47t- two teams that just screams 43-8.
- 48:49So TR Pearson in the chat ha- makes a fantastic point.
- 48:53Brandan, how about you?
- 48:5420 to 19 is what, Clinton has said.
- 48:57He gives you no room.
- 48:58He gives you no room to win with a close score and still pick the Hawks.
- 49:02No, I'm, I'm, I'm leaning more toward a blowout in this one, gentlemen,
- 49:06because I think that, Sean Payton, he, he's, he's in a difficult spot
- 49:12going up against the Seahawks defense.
- 49:14And I know that there's been a lot made about, oh, the Seahawks in the red
- 49:19zone, the defense has not been great.
- 49:22this is the week, guys, that our Seahawks defense does
- 49:27not allow a touchdown, even if they get to the red zone.
- 49:31So, we see the Broncos with four field goals, field goals- getting
- 49:3712 points, and our Seahawks score 21.
- 49:4221-12.
- 49:45That'll do.
- 49:45I love both of those numbers.
- 49:46You got the, the 21, which is the reverse 12, and then the 12.
- 49:50Both of those numbers- It's 12 … look beautiful on a Mile
- 49:52High Stadium scoreboard, I think.
- 49:54they're not 43-8, but I'll be totally happy with them.
- 49:57And yeah, Thursday night's crazy.
- 50:01And with Clinton predicting a one-point victory, it, it benefits
- 50:04me in no way to predict anything more than a, a double- Two point
- 50:07digit blowout.
- 50:07It's true.
- 50:08yeah.
- 50:08I mean, you coulda just, you coulda just totally went for two-point victory and
- 50:12just guaranteed that if we won by one- I did not wanna Price Is Right Clinton.
- 50:16I appreciate that.
- 50:17That's funny.
- 50:18Yeah.
- 50:18That's very good.
- 50:19Just kinda what you thought.
- 50:20And, and there's good reason to think that we can keep them out of the end zone.
- 50:24I have no idea what's gonna happen in this game.
- 50:26It can go so many ways.
- 50:27Thursday nights are crazy.
- 50:28Thursday nights are crazy.
- 50:30Is, is Adam going to this game?
- 50:31I thought I heard one of you was going.
- 50:32We, we were planning on it, and then, one of our buddies ended
- 50:36up canceling, and the Airbnb ended up being something we could cancel,
- 50:40and then- Stuff, stuff, stuff.
- 50:41Yeah.
- 50:42Yeah.
- 50:42Mm-hmm.
- 50:42One of our, one of our Discord members said he could use the tickets, so- Okay
- 50:46… we're, we're gonna do that, and, and, save ourselves a, a trip to Denver.
- 50:51And I, 'cause I'm going to Seattle this weekend anyway.
- 50:54Oh.
- 50:55So I was gonna have to drive, then fly, and then, yeah, it was,
- 50:58it was- And walking 500 miles-
- 51:00and then walking 500 more- Yeah … just to be the man doesn't feel like-
- 51:03Yeah … the man you wanna be.
- 51:04Yeah, so I'm gonna miss, hanging out with all the little Flockers in
- 51:08Denver, because man oh man, I think they're gonna be in for a really fun
- 51:13game against this Denver Broncos team.
- 51:17Yeah, fully, extremely excited about it, guys.
- 51:19And, it's just, again, I look at the whole thing as this silver lining blessing
- 51:25that we got this game on a short week.
- 51:27We could put the rivalry game, it's now behind us.
- 51:30It now s- doesn't matter.
- 51:32It's just a loss right now.
- 51:33And just go get right.
- 51:34Go…
- 51:35And it, it doesn't have to be as, like a, like a full on, oh my gosh, we dominated
- 51:39every single aspect of the game, but we could leave tomorrow and be like, "Cool.
- 51:44We're four and two.
- 51:45We played a solid overall game.
- 51:47We beat a good NFL team, and we're right where, we are right where we
- 51:51wanna be to get into that, like, second third of the year," you know?
- 51:55That is what I'm gearing up for, guys, is just a crisp, a crisp
- 52:00night, 43 degrees at Mile High.
- 52:04How about a- 43.
- 52:05I like 43.
- 52:05Yes, I know.
- 52:06How about a crisp outing?
- 52:07And if, boys, if we do get a 43 to eight victory, well, drinks are on me.
- 52:12Oh.
- 52:14Yeah, okay.
- 52:15I, I'm into that.
- 52:16Yeah, I- Any final thoughts, by you, Phil, before we,
- 52:18I'll be right where I wanna be.
- 52:19We have a high school soccer match on Thursday, four minutes from my house,
- 52:23so I'm having the team over for- Oh
- 52:24hot dogs and ice cream to watch it.
- 52:26One of my players is a huge 49er fan, so he's just gonna show up to hate on
- 52:30the, on the Seahawks, but that's okay.
- 52:31We can all, like, kick him and dog pile.
- 52:34So- We won't go over the top, but it should be a fun time, and, we're
- 52:38gonna crank up the fun watching the game.
- 52:40We'll have to catch up to everybody, 'cause we'll start probably 45 minutes
- 52:43late, but then we'd have to watch the dumb, over and over- Like halftime
- 52:46repetitive, Commercials … Peyton Manning commercials.
- 52:49Like, we can just skip all of those.
- 52:51So- Nice … it's fine with us.
- 52:53Good.
- 52:53Texas- Well, JO in chat saying, "Mike Mack, three and one
- 52:56on Thursday night football."
- 52:58That makes me feel a little better.
- 53:00Mm.
- 53:01A little bit.
- 53:01Let's, let's march that to 401, guys.
- 53:04Let's get our Seahawks to four and two as, hopefully, we
- 53:07have a repeat of 43 to eight.
- 53:10Let's do it.
- 53:11I think with that- There's only one thing left to say.
- 53:13Go Hawks.
- 53:14Go Hawks.
- 53:15Win this by a mile, please
