Latest / The Mark Simone Show / Hour 2: Putin agrees to talk.

- 0:10Speaker 1: Well, it's the middle of the week. It's 13 days
- 0:13Speaker 1: until the election. That's right, 13 days. Election day. Make
- 0:18Speaker 1: sure you get out and vote. Early voting in New
- 0:20Speaker 1: York starts this weekend. So if you can, do it
- 0:23Speaker 1: this weekend. Vote Saturday or Sunday. Get out and vote
- 0:25Speaker 1: for Bruce Blakeman. And the attorney general's race looks pretty good. Normally,
- 0:32Speaker 1: it's tough for anybody running against a Democrat attorney general,
- 0:36Speaker 1: but this is the worst attorney general, the most biased, slanted, lawfare,
- 0:42Speaker 1: making up fake cases against Donald Trump. But the opponent,
- 0:48Speaker 1: with a name nobody can pronounce, Sarita Karatumimedi, you'll see
- 0:52Speaker 1: her name on the ballot. She's the Republican candidate for
- 0:55Speaker 1: Attorney General. Make sure you vote for her. Make sure
- 0:59Speaker 1: you vote for her. Get rid of Letitia James. Would
- 1:02Speaker 1: be a big help for New York. But again, you
- 1:06Speaker 1: can start voting Saturday in New York. Connecticut, I think
- 1:10Speaker 1: you've already got your early voting going on. But it's
- 1:14Speaker 1: 13 days from today. So there's been a big breakthrough
- 1:18Speaker 1: with Russia. As you know, President Trump, for the last
- 1:21Speaker 1: week or so, has been very nice to Putin. He's
- 1:23Speaker 1: been flattering him. He's been nice. He's been using the carrot,
- 1:27Speaker 1: not the stick, and getting criticism for it, a lot
- 1:30Speaker 1: of criticism for it, but it's paying off. He got this,
- 1:34Speaker 1: Russia has released this American teacher they've been holding for
- 1:38Speaker 1: about four years. Biden claimed he was trying to get
- 1:42Speaker 1: the guy out, but never did anything to get him out.
- 1:44Speaker 1: It's a terrible situation, this teacher being held in Russia.
- 1:47Speaker 1: Trump got him released. Yesterday he was released. With no conditions.
- 1:52Speaker 1: It was not a prisoner swap. He asked Putin to
- 1:54Speaker 1: release this guy, and Putin did it. He's been released.
- 1:57Speaker 1: But here's the big breakthrough. It's just breaking now that
- 2:02Speaker 1: Putin has agreed to sit down with Zelensky and the U.S.
- 2:06Speaker 1: for trilateral talks. This has never happened before with the
- 2:10Speaker 1: Russia-Ukraine war. But Putin has now agreed he will sit
- 2:15Speaker 1: down with the Russians and The Ukrainians, the Americans will
- 2:23Speaker 1: all meet, trilateral talks. They'll get this done somehow. I
- 2:27Speaker 1: don't know if they'll end the war, but they'll get
- 2:30Speaker 1: the talks done. They'll get in a room and all
- 2:31Speaker 1: start talking. That's a big, big breakthrough. And again, Trump
- 2:37Speaker 1: very good at using the carrot, then the stick, then
- 2:39Speaker 1: the carrot, then the stick. So the problem is Zelensky
- 2:43Speaker 1: is not the greatest in a room when it comes
- 2:45Speaker 1: to negotiating. As you've seen, just sitting with President Trump,
- 2:48Speaker 1: he managed to get himself in there. 10 different fights
- 2:51Speaker 1: in that first meeting. But Putin, a much, although totally
- 2:56Speaker 1: evil and disgusting, a much cagier, slyer guy than Zelensky.
- 3:05Speaker 1: Although Zelensky's done a great job coming up with weapons
- 3:08Speaker 1: and as a general, he's been great in this war.
- 3:11Speaker 1: But there will be trilateral talks. That's good news. The
- 3:15Speaker 1: other breaking news this morning, Brad Lander, The extremely annoying
- 3:21Speaker 1: Brad Lander is being held by Israel. He was in Israel. Now,
- 3:27Speaker 1: that doesn't make any sense to begin with because there's
- 3:29Speaker 1: nobody that hates Israel more than Brad Lander. There's nobody
- 3:32Speaker 1: that's denounced Israel more than Brad Lander. He's attacked them,
- 3:39Speaker 1: accusing them of genocide. He's totally opposed to Israel. He's
- 3:43Speaker 1: the most anti-Israel guy in the world. What the hell
- 3:45Speaker 1: is he doing in Israel? Well, he was there to
- 3:47Speaker 1: help the Palestinians or the Gazans or supposedly helping them
- 3:53Speaker 1: plant olives. Who knows what he's doing there? He's there
- 3:56Speaker 1: for photo opportunity. He's there to publicize himself. But for
- 4:01Speaker 1: some reason, he's been detained. We'll find out exactly why. Now,
- 4:05Speaker 1: the fact that Israel is detaining Brad Lander, don't worry.
- 4:08Speaker 1: After they're alone with this guy for about two hours,
- 4:11Speaker 1: they'll release him. They'll put him on a plane and
- 4:14Speaker 1: get him the hell out of there. Nobody wants this
- 4:15Speaker 1: guy around. very slimy, annoying politician, Brad Lander. Uh, the
- 4:22Speaker 1: other thing, uh, Katie's Zacharia has reemerged. You know, she
- 4:28Speaker 1: left the white house last week. She's back in California
- 4:32Speaker 1: and she finally reemerged. You'll see the pictures all over
- 4:37Speaker 1: the place. She's reemerged with a little tiny, uh, halter
- 4:42Speaker 1: top on and, uh, these tight little sweat pants. And, uh,
- 4:47Speaker 1: Looks like one of those Instagram influencers trying to get attention.
- 4:51Speaker 1: So the pictures of her trying to look hot outside
- 4:54Speaker 1: in this little tight outfit, that's how she wanted to reemerge.
- 4:57Speaker 1: I don't know if that's the right thing. You know,
- 4:59Speaker 1: you saw her as the press secretary with those very
- 5:01Speaker 1: formal business suits, those banker-type business suits. Now she's running
- 5:06Speaker 1: around in the trashy little gym clothes trying to get attention.
- 5:11Speaker 1: So I don't know. I mean, what could she do?
- 5:13Speaker 1: How do you reemerge? You suddenly show up working at
- 5:17Speaker 1: a soup kitchen trying to help people. Is that the
- 5:19Speaker 1: way to reemerge? That's always pretty phony. You know, these
- 5:23Speaker 1: people that every Thanksgiving, I know a lot of people
- 5:26Speaker 1: do this. Thanksgiving, they go to the soup kitchen to
- 5:29Speaker 1: help feed the poor. And they put up pictures of
- 5:31Speaker 1: themselves working at the soup kitchen on Thanksgiving. It sounds good,
- 5:36Speaker 1: but it's not helping anybody, you know, because for the
- 5:40Speaker 1: next 364 days of the year, they're not at the
- 5:43Speaker 1: soup kitchen. You know, if you said, I'm going to
- 5:44Speaker 1: go do this every weekend, that might help. But a
- 5:48Speaker 1: couple hours once a year, you're not helping anybody. But
- 5:51Speaker 1: Katie Zakaria, I don't know what she's going to do.
- 5:54Speaker 1: She was an occasional guest on Fox. I guess maybe
- 5:59Speaker 1: she could do that. She could try to get on
- 6:01Speaker 1: somewhere else, Newsmax or someplace else. She could try to
- 6:04Speaker 1: get her own. She's not a host. She can't do
- 6:06Speaker 1: her own show, but maybe be a regular there.
- 6:09Speaker 2: Who knows?
- 6:10Speaker 1: Elon Omar has put out a video begging for cash.
- 6:15Speaker 1: Begging for money. She's in real trouble. Real serious legal trouble.
- 6:22Speaker 1: Real legal trouble. So she's going to have a big problem.
- 6:26Speaker 1: And they're really going to go after her. And the
- 6:29Speaker 1: charges look pretty serious. So she's going to need a
- 6:30Speaker 1: lot of money to fight this legal battle. She could
- 6:34Speaker 1: very easily get deported. They could easily prove, it looks like,
- 6:38Speaker 1: according to sources and the evidence, That she's not a citizen.
- 6:42Speaker 1: That would remove her from Congress. All good. All good.
- 6:46Speaker 1: And you know this woman in Michigan, Alyssa Slotkin, who's in,
- 6:53Speaker 1: Democrats love it, but with everybody else, she's in hot
- 6:55Speaker 1: water because she came out with this crazy talk about
- 6:58Speaker 1: they should start investigating, indicting, going after anybody who supports Trump.
- 7:07Speaker 1: I mean, this is insane. This is like beyond McCarthyism.
- 7:11Speaker 1: In other words, anybody, they're trying to discourage young people,
- 7:14Speaker 1: especially college students who get out of college, from becoming
- 7:18Speaker 1: Republicans or becoming Trump supporters. So she's threatening to arrest
- 7:23Speaker 1: them all, indict them all. I mean, this is the
- 7:25Speaker 1: worst Soviet Stalinist craziest crap, but she's pushing this. And
- 7:33Speaker 1: she's pretty much sticking to her guns.
- 7:35Speaker 3: I want to look at these signature cases and not
- 7:38Speaker 3: just focus on the president, but on the people who
- 7:41Speaker 3: enabled him. I want young people coming out of school
- 7:44Speaker 3: to say, should I go work for the Trump administration? Like,
- 7:47Speaker 3: that sounds fun. I might get an opportunity. I want
- 7:49Speaker 3: them to be like, Lord, that might be buying myself
- 7:53Speaker 3: a ton of problems that I don't want.
- 7:55Speaker 1: Yeah, she basically wants to threaten any young person that
- 7:58Speaker 1: if you go to help Trump or become a Trump supporter,
- 8:01Speaker 1: you could be arrested, you could be indicted. It's insane.
- 8:04Speaker 1: It's un-American. It's evil, President Trump.
- 8:09Speaker 4: Slotkin said that there should be prosecutions in order to
- 8:13Speaker 4: scare people from going into politics.
- 8:17Speaker 1: That's a Democrat, and that's what they do.
- 8:19Speaker 5: That's all they're good at.
- 8:20Speaker 1: And you know what?
- 8:21Speaker 4: That's why they're getting their asses kicked.
- 8:24Speaker 1: Well. But she keeps sticking to her guns on that.
- 8:28Speaker 1: And of course, the fake news backs her up completely.
- 8:33Speaker 1: Kimberly Guilfoyle. She is headed back to Florida. She'll be
- 8:36Speaker 1: living in Palm Beach. Kimberly Guilfoyle has finally listed herself
- 8:42Speaker 1: now as a speaker. They got these speakers bureaus, you know,
- 8:46Speaker 1: where if you want a big speaker, a famous speaker
- 8:48Speaker 1: or expert speaker, interesting speaker, you go to a speakers
- 8:51Speaker 1: bureau and you go to their websites and they tell you,
- 8:55Speaker 1: You've got each person, some of them very famous, some
- 8:58Speaker 1: of them not so famous, and has how much their
- 9:00Speaker 1: fee is. So she's listed herself as $ 100, 000 per appearance.
- 9:08Speaker 1: But then if you look down at the fine print there,
- 9:11Speaker 1: it says ranging from $ 50, 000 to $ 100, 000, available for corporate appearances,
- 9:16Speaker 1: speaking engagements, virtual events, fireside chats, meet and greets. It
- 9:23Speaker 1: Then they have to tell you where the speaker's coming
- 9:25Speaker 1: from because you'll have to pay the travel expenses. So
- 9:28Speaker 1: down there in the fine print says she'll be coming
- 9:29Speaker 1: from West Palm Beach Airport. So far, we don't know
- 9:33Speaker 1: of any bookings yet for her, but I could see that.
- 9:40Speaker 1: I don't know. You have to kind of say what
- 9:42Speaker 1: you're going to say in the speech. I mean, I
- 9:45Speaker 1: do a lot of speeches. You can book me, but
- 9:47Speaker 1: it'll say these are his topics. So she hasn't listed
- 9:51Speaker 1: any of that. And so far we know of nobody
- 9:55Speaker 1: actually booking her. But they're going after her for this.
- 9:59Speaker 1: But they all do this. Mike Pompeo, anybody that was
- 10:02Speaker 1: in the cabinet, anybody that was well-known in politics, all
- 10:08Speaker 1: these people. Everybody you see on Fox and people you
- 10:12Speaker 1: see on MS now, they're all listed with these speakers' bureaus.
- 10:15Speaker 1: You can book all of them for an event. But
- 10:19Speaker 1: the fake news going after this saying it's the Trump orbit,
- 10:22Speaker 1: why they're cashing in. They all do this. Everybody that
- 10:24Speaker 1: worked for Biden, all the former press secretaries, cabinet, they're
- 10:28Speaker 1: all available as speakers. Everybody does it. Not unusual. Hey,
- 10:34Speaker 1: they're cleaning up the Social Security rolls. You know, there's
- 10:37Speaker 1: a lot of fraud everywhere, not just voter fraud, Social
- 10:40Speaker 1: Security fraud. So now that the Trump administration is running it,
- 10:43Speaker 1: they decided to clean up the rolls and they've officially
- 10:46Speaker 1: started this will help clean up a lot of stuff.
- 10:51Speaker 1: You know, there's 17 million in the Social Security base
- 10:55Speaker 1: that they believe are actually dead, listed as alive. So
- 10:58Speaker 1: they're clearing up the death dates. There are 25 million
- 11:03Speaker 1: records that had missing citizenship information. So they're cleaning all
- 11:07Speaker 1: this up. And they're currently in the process of correcting
- 11:10Speaker 1: an additional 9 million records with inaccurate status on them.
- 11:15Speaker 1: Nobody's ever bothered to do this before, correct all this stuff,
- 11:18Speaker 1: but it's a great step, and they'll actually do it. Hey,
- 11:22Speaker 1: speaking of Katie Zakaria, by the way, remember she had
- 11:25Speaker 1: all this flack because she said she was a lawyer.
- 11:26Speaker 1: It turned out she never passed the bar. Her excuse was,
- 11:32Speaker 1: as long as you have a law degree and you're
- 11:33Speaker 1: working in a law firm, you can say you're a lawyer.
- 11:37Speaker 1: If you haven't passed the bar, you can't say you're
- 11:39Speaker 1: an attorney, and everybody laughed at that. Well, it turns
- 11:44Speaker 1: out if you go to the American Bar Association, the
- 11:48Speaker 1: rules are different state by state. But the American Bar
- 11:52Speaker 1: Association last year put out an article and the American
- 11:56Speaker 1: Bar Association said an attorney is someone who passed the
- 12:00Speaker 1: bar and has been admitted to practice law in a jurisdiction.
- 12:04Speaker 1: A lawyer is someone who received the same legal training
- 12:08Speaker 1: but has not been admitted to practice law. So according
- 12:13Speaker 1: to the American Bar Association, Katie Zakaria is actually correct.
- 12:20Speaker 1: Look at this. Kathy Hochul getting desperate, very desperate, because
- 12:24Speaker 1: Blakeman caught up to her. They're now pretty much even.
- 12:27Speaker 1: They're within the margin of error in the real polls.
- 12:30Speaker 1: She's now pushing to announce a chip-making plant in Utica.
- 12:34Speaker 1: She's going to try to get a chip-making plant. There's
- 12:38Speaker 1: a company called Solid Gym. It's the U.S. arm of
- 12:40Speaker 1: a South Korean chip giant. if you don't want AI,
- 12:46Speaker 1: why would you want a chip making plant? I don't know,
- 12:48Speaker 1: but she's desperate and she'll do anything that sounds good,
- 12:51Speaker 1: looks good. So she's trying to get this big chip
- 12:54Speaker 1: making plant to Ithaca. She's looking for votes up there.
- 13:00Speaker 1: Albany insiders insist, well, actually they point out no deal
- 13:04Speaker 1: has been finalized. So she could make a deal according
- 13:08Speaker 1: to Albany insiders. She can make this deal and announce it.
- 13:12Speaker 1: And it sounds great. Everybody's thrilled up there that this
- 13:15Speaker 1: has come. But then she can hand it off to
- 13:19Speaker 1: the feds and then all the red tape will come
- 13:22Speaker 1: in and it'll never get done. They call it the
- 13:25Speaker 1: Albany two-step. So she can prop it up and then
- 13:29Speaker 1: hand it to the feds and making sure it never happens.
- 13:31Speaker 1: So that's the kind of stuff these people do. You
- 13:34Speaker 1: got to be very, very wary of them. President Trump
- 13:39Speaker 1: going to South Carolina today. be campaigning for Darlene Graham.
- 13:44Speaker 1: That's a tough race. Kamala Harris is announced. She's going
- 13:48Speaker 1: on a five-state midterm campaign swing. Does this help anybody?
- 13:56Speaker 1: The word salad, babbling yo-yo, Kamala Harris, drunk all the time.
- 14:00Speaker 1: Is this going to help anybody? Well, I'm looking at
- 14:02Speaker 1: where they're sending her. They're not sending her to battleground states.
- 14:06Speaker 1: She'll be in Nevada, Mississippi, New Hampshire, Wisconsin, and Georgia.
- 14:11Speaker 1: She'll be attacking President Trump for rising costs. You've got
- 14:16Speaker 1: to give them a lot of credit, these Democrats. Their
- 14:18Speaker 1: costs were much higher than Trump's. Their gas costs, their inflation,
- 14:23Speaker 1: everything was much higher than Trump. But they campaign against
- 14:26Speaker 1: him based on costs. Give them credit. That takes a
- 14:30Speaker 1: lot of nerve, a lot of chutzpah to be able
- 14:32Speaker 1: to do that with a straight face. Hey, we'll take
- 14:34Speaker 1: some calls coming up next. 800-321-0710 is the number. Give
- 14:36Speaker 1: me a call. 800- 321-0710. Mr. New York. Mark Simone.
- 14:46Speaker 1: Now three hours every weekday from 9 till noon on 710WOR.
- 14:56Speaker 1: Let's take some calls. Let's go to Lou in Chicago. Lou,
- 14:59Speaker 1: how are you doing?
- 15:00Speaker 4: Hi, Mark.
- 15:02Speaker 2: Great show. Thanks. Mark, I was just wondering, you know
- 15:07Speaker 2: what's happening in France right now? I kind of think
- 15:11Speaker 2: that Mayor Daley, the old man, had the right idea. That,
- 15:16Speaker 2: you know, he told him, if you were messing around
- 15:18Speaker 2: in Grant Park, shoot to kill. And I don't want
- 15:22Speaker 2: to sound like a goofball, but what do you think
- 15:27Speaker 2: of that?
- 15:27Speaker 1: Yeah, well, that was the old Mayor Daley. He was
- 15:30Speaker 1: also the most corrupt guy in the world. Dead people voting.
- 15:33Speaker 1: All kinds of shenanigans with that guy. But there's a
- 15:37Speaker 1: nice balance in between... modern-day stuff and Mayor Daley stuff.
- 15:41Speaker 1: You're right. They need to send out the military, and
- 15:44Speaker 1: they need to put this down. They should have done
- 15:46Speaker 1: it the first night. Good point. Thanks for calling. Let's
- 15:49Speaker 1: go to Andrew in Florida. Andrew, how are you doing?
- 15:54Speaker 5: I'm doing great, Mark. Thanks so much for taking my call.
- 15:57Speaker 5: I remember you from substituting for Rush. You were great.
- 16:00Speaker 5: He was great, and you're great now. I appreciate everything
- 16:04Speaker 5: you do. Wow.
- 16:05Speaker 2: Well, thanks.
- 16:05Speaker 4: Great.
- 16:07Speaker 1: Here comes the button.
- 16:07Speaker 5: Well, I'm calling about something else, but I just wanted
- 16:11Speaker 5: to throw in that Mamdani, if you just reverse the
- 16:16Speaker 5: M and the D in the middle, it's Mad Manny.
- 16:19Speaker 5: Nobody ever says that. I'm the only one that's thought
- 16:21Speaker 5: of it.
- 16:22Speaker 1: It's not that good. That's why no one ever says it.
- 16:25Speaker 5: Okay, well, thank you for that. But hey, you're an
- 16:28Speaker 5: expert on Jack Parr and Johnny Carson and all that,
- 16:31Speaker 5: and I'm really calling you about... My father, his name
- 16:35Speaker 5: was George Jason, and he was on the Jack Parr
- 16:38Speaker 5: show many times. And I'm asking you if you perhaps
- 16:42Speaker 5: remember him. He was a musician, magician, and comedian. And
- 16:51Speaker 5: he was going to be on the Ed Sullivan show,
- 16:53Speaker 5: but he died in 1959.
- 16:54Speaker 4: Oh.
- 16:54Speaker 5: You wouldn't remember him, would you?
- 16:58Speaker 1: No. George Jason. No, but there were a lot of
- 17:00Speaker 1: guys back then who were big on all the talk shows.
- 17:03Speaker 1: that nobody would know today. There's a million comedians. Everybody
- 17:07Speaker 1: saw them in every show. There was Toadie Fields and
- 17:10Speaker 1: Milt Kamen and London Lee and all these guys. In
- 17:13Speaker 1: today's world, nobody would know them. Same thing with singers.
- 17:16Speaker 1: But that was the good old days of The Tonight Show.
- 17:18Speaker 1: Those good old days in New York and the nightclubs. Andrew,
- 17:22Speaker 1: thanks for calling. Let's go to Marge in Manhattan. Marge,
- 17:25Speaker 1: how are you doing?
- 17:27Speaker 4: Hi, I'm here.
- 17:28Speaker 6: I just wanted to talk about Medicare for All.
- 17:31Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 17:32Speaker 6: Nobody seems to explain that Medicare is not free for seniors.
- 17:37Speaker 6: We start paying for Medicare the minute we work. It
- 17:41Speaker 6: comes out of our taxes. And that's for Medicare A.
- 17:45Speaker 6: If you haven't paid in enough quarters, you're not eligible
- 17:49Speaker 6: for Medicare.
- 17:50Speaker 1: Do you have Medicare? Do you have Medicare?
- 17:54Speaker 6: Yes.
- 17:54Speaker 1: Does it cover everything? Is it good?
- 17:58Speaker 6: It's a very nice program, but it's not free.
- 18:01Speaker 1: No, I understand that. When you have Medicare, do you
- 18:04Speaker 1: pay anything? Do you pay a monthly fee or anything?
- 18:06Speaker 3: Yes.
- 18:07Speaker 1: Oh, you do?
- 18:08Speaker 6: You pay a month. It depends on the plan. If
- 18:10Speaker 6: you go for traditional Medicare A and B, you have
- 18:14Speaker 6: to buy a secondary that could cost $ 400 a month.
- 18:17Speaker 1: Oh, okay. Well, all right. Well, thanks for calling. Yeah,
- 18:20Speaker 1: the problem is it's like Obamacare. It sounded great on paper.
- 18:23Speaker 1: In reality, it was a disaster for a lot of people.
- 18:26Speaker 1: Not the right coverage. A lot of things not covered.
- 18:28Speaker 1: It was costing them way too much. Remember that if
- 18:30Speaker 1: you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor. Everybody
- 18:33Speaker 1: lost their doctor immediately. The last thing you want is
- 18:36Speaker 1: your health care totally in the hands of government bureaucrats.
- 18:40Speaker 1: No competition allowed. That's the last thing you want. Let's
- 18:44Speaker 1: go to Jamie in Columbia, South Carolina, North Carolina.
- 18:49Speaker 5: Mark, I'm in Columbus, Ohio.
- 18:54Speaker 1: Oh, Columbus, Ohio. All right, I'll talk slower.
- 18:56Speaker 4: I'm sorry.
- 18:57Speaker 5: Oh, I just, great show like usual. I want to
- 19:01Speaker 5: ask you about that Steve Hilton governor race in California.
- 19:06Speaker 4: If he has a chance, are they going.
- 19:08Speaker 5: To do the Spencer Pratt thing where they take a
- 19:11Speaker 5: month to count the votes?
- 19:12Speaker 1: Yes, yes.
- 19:14Speaker 5: And in the long run, it doesn't work out?
- 19:16Speaker 1: Yes, that's a very good question. Yes, they're going to
- 19:19Speaker 1: do that to him. And that's the problem. Let's say
- 19:23Speaker 1: he wins by three points. Not enough. The cheating could
- 19:26Speaker 1: be seven, eight points. Yeah, if he wins, they'll just say,
- 19:32Speaker 1: haven't counted yet. It's going to take a while to count.
- 19:34Speaker 1: Absentee ballots are out there. They'll play those shenanigans. That's
- 19:39Speaker 1: the other thing. Election night is 13 days away. And
- 19:41Speaker 1: you think, wow, that's going to be exciting election night.
- 19:44Speaker 1: A lot of these races, especially California, you may be
- 19:47Speaker 1: waiting two weeks to get the results. And Hilton is
- 19:49Speaker 1: doing well. He should be the governor. But you got
- 19:54Speaker 1: to win by like 15 points to overcome the cheating
- 19:57Speaker 1: in California. Some states, Connecticut, they say you got to
- 20:00Speaker 1: win by five or six points to overcome the cheating.
- 20:03Speaker 1: But California, real bad. Let's go to Oscar in New Jersey. Oscar,
- 20:08Speaker 1: how you doing?
- 20:10Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 20:10Speaker 1: You sound like Joe Biden. What are you trying to say?
- 20:14Speaker 4: Yeah, who do you think is a bigger liar, a
- 20:17Speaker 4: Somali pirate or you?
- 20:19Speaker 1: I don't know. It's pretty much a tie, I would say.
- 20:23Speaker 1: Somali pirate? When was the last time you saw a
- 20:25Speaker 1: Somali pirate? Let's go to Bill in New Jersey. Bill,
- 20:29Speaker 1: how are you doing?
- 20:33Speaker 4: Listen, Mark, I got a question.
- 20:35Speaker 2: What happened to the Iranians? Mark, how are you?
- 20:37Speaker 1: What happened to what? Is it over?
- 20:38Speaker 5: Did we win?
- 20:39Speaker 1: What happened to what? Wait, you're cutting out. Say it again.
- 20:44Speaker 1: What happened to what?
- 20:45Speaker 2: I'm sorry.
- 20:48Speaker 1: Oh, the war in Iran? It's on hold right now.
- 20:52Speaker 1: You know, when they say this war has been dragging
- 20:54Speaker 1: on for eight months, the war is like a total
- 20:57Speaker 1: of eight days. I mean, most of the time they
- 20:59Speaker 1: go to war for a day, then they take a
- 21:01Speaker 1: month off, and back to war. This has been the
- 21:04Speaker 1: longest break. How long has this been? Six, eight weeks,
- 21:07Speaker 1: I think. It's pretty much to the midterms. Once the
- 21:10Speaker 1: midterms are over, from what I hear, they're going to
- 21:11Speaker 1: finish Iran off with MOABs. That's the mother of all bombs.
- 21:16Speaker 1: That's the single biggest bomb outside of the nuclear bomb. Apparently,
- 21:21Speaker 1: the Pentagon has been putting together target packages. And apparently,
- 21:27Speaker 1: you heard that phone call. There was a great phone
- 21:29Speaker 1: call between Trump and Bibi Netanyahu. And they both, you
- 21:33Speaker 1: could hear it in the undertone of what they were saying.
- 21:37Speaker 1: By the way, Bibi Netanyahu is up for re-election. And
- 21:39Speaker 1: his election is next week. Next week, the Israeli elections.
- 21:43Speaker 1: The week after, the U.S. elections. And the week after,
- 21:46Speaker 1: they will finish off the Iran war. You could hear
- 21:49Speaker 1: in the conversation that when Trump said, you're the guy
- 21:53Speaker 1: I want by my side. And Netanyahu said, yes, and
- 21:56Speaker 1: we've got a job to finish. They're just waiting for
- 21:58Speaker 1: the election to be over. And then it will resume
- 22:02Speaker 1: on a level never seen before. And that should finish
- 22:05Speaker 1: it off. Hey, coming up next, we hope. We'll be
- 22:08Speaker 1: talking to Steve Moore, the great economist, Steve Moore, talking
- 22:13Speaker 1: about the economy, gas prices, all sorts of stuff, and
- 22:16Speaker 1: how it looks. We'll get to all of that coming
- 22:18Speaker 1: up on 710WOR. It's the Mark Simone Show. Live from
- 22:24Speaker 1: the WOR LifeVac studio. Well, with us now, the brilliant economist,
- 22:31Speaker 1: Steve Moore. You should get his book, The Trump Economic Miracle.
- 22:34Speaker 1: If you haven't read that, it's good to, you'll learn
- 22:36Speaker 1: a lot from that. The Trump Economic Miracle. And he
- 22:39Speaker 1: runs the committee to Unleash Prosperity. Every day they put
- 22:42Speaker 1: out the best daily briefing and analysis. It's free. It'll
- 22:45Speaker 1: come right to your email. You can go sign up
- 22:48Speaker 1: at UnleashProsperity.com. UnleashProsperity.com. Steve Moore, how you doing?
- 22:55Speaker 2: Hey, Mark.
- 22:56Speaker 4: Doing actually very well, thank you. I think the economy
- 22:59Speaker 4: is doing a lot better than the media is portraying
- 23:01Speaker 4: it to be, that's for sure. And feeling very upbeat
- 23:04Speaker 4: about the direction of things.
- 23:05Speaker 1: Well, wait a minute. I'm looking at the New York Times.
- 23:08Speaker 1: Economy in crisis, in crisis.
- 23:12Speaker 4: Is that true? Did I really say that?
- 23:13Speaker 1: No, but you know what I mean.
- 23:15Speaker 4: No, I mean, that's what a lot of the headlines
- 23:18Speaker 4: have been. But, you know, you look at what these statistics,
- 23:21Speaker 4: you know, and I'm an economist, so I look at,
- 23:23Speaker 4: you know, what's coming out every day. We've got a
- 23:25Speaker 4: record-booming stock market. We've got a record amount of investment
- 23:28Speaker 4: capital coming into the United States.
- 23:30Speaker 1: We're like a magnet.
- 23:31Speaker 4: We have the lowest number of people collecting unemployment insurance
- 23:34Speaker 4: in something like 30 years. We have the lowest poverty
- 23:37Speaker 4: rate probably ever in the history of the United States.
- 23:41Speaker 4: We're producing more oil and gas than any time before
- 23:46Speaker 4: in the history of the country. And so we're now
- 23:48Speaker 4: an exporter. And by the way, I did read in
- 23:52Speaker 4: the Wall Street Journal today that the Middle East and
- 23:55Speaker 4: the Strait of Hormuz has record amount of oil flowing now.
- 23:59Speaker 4: So those are all positive signs, and yet people are
- 24:02Speaker 4: in a bad mood.
- 24:03Speaker 1: Yeah, I see that oil has dropped $ 10 a barrel
- 24:07Speaker 1: in just 36 hours, which is good news. Hey, explain this.
- 24:14Speaker 1: The airlines are a mess. United Airlines, no exception. The
- 24:18Speaker 1: CEO of United Airlines is calling for a national wealth tax.
- 24:23Speaker 1: What is he thinking?
- 24:25Speaker 2: Yes, I saw that.
- 24:26Speaker 1: How's it going to help you?
- 24:27Speaker 4: What's his name again? I forget what his name is.
- 24:31Speaker 4: But he gave a speech the other day in an
- 24:34Speaker 4: interview where he said we should have a national wealth tax, which,
- 24:39Speaker 4: by the way, every country that's tried that has torpedoed
- 24:43Speaker 4: their economy. And then he said, how about this one, Mark?
- 24:46Speaker 4: He said we should have an inheritance tax of up
- 24:49Speaker 4: to 100%. So here's the thing. I mean, think about this.
- 24:54Speaker 4: If you were to tell rich people, You can't pass
- 24:58Speaker 4: on any of your money to your kids. everybody would
- 25:03Speaker 4: just spend, spend, spend. It would be like, you know,
- 25:06Speaker 4: you would spend every penny you have before the government
- 25:08Speaker 4: get a hold of it. It's the dumbest thing I've
- 25:10Speaker 4: ever heard at a hundred. Hasn't this guy ever heard
- 25:12Speaker 4: of the laugher curve? If you tax something, you get
- 25:15Speaker 4: lots of it. And if you tax it too high,
- 25:16Speaker 4: you lose revenue. It wouldn't collect a single dime of
- 25:20Speaker 4: inheritance tax because nobody would have an inheritance.
- 25:22Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 25:23Speaker 1: Has this guy ever heard of go woke, go broke guy, go, go,
- 25:26Speaker 1: go talk to Jaguar, go talk to Budweiser. Uh, What
- 25:30Speaker 1: is he thinking?
- 25:32Speaker 4: Well, think about it this way. Why do people build
- 25:36Speaker 4: up a business over their lifetime? People want to leave
- 25:39Speaker 4: a legacy for their children. That's the American way. My
- 25:43Speaker 4: dad continued to work until he was 75 years old
- 25:46Speaker 4: and worked and worked and put his blood and sweat
- 25:48Speaker 4: and tears into that business for 40, 50 years. The
- 25:53Speaker 4: government said, oh, by the way, you can't pass any
- 25:55Speaker 4: of that on to your kids. Now, it turns out
- 25:57Speaker 4: none of us actually took over that business, but you know,
- 26:00Speaker 4: this is the American way. You know, you build up
- 26:02Speaker 4: a farm, you build up a ranch, you build up
- 26:04Speaker 4: a business, and then you get to pass that on
- 26:06Speaker 4: to your kids. And that's outrageous to think of. By
- 26:10Speaker 4: the way, in the Communist Manifesto, the first, one of the,
- 26:16Speaker 4: you know, first commandments of the Communist Manifesto is to
- 26:19Speaker 4: eliminate inheritance.
- 26:22Speaker 2: Oh, God.
- 26:23Speaker 1: Now, what else?
- 26:24Speaker 4: By the way, I'm not flying United. You know, if
- 26:27Speaker 4: I have a choice You know, like if I have
- 26:30Speaker 4: to go to fly to Chicago, I can fly to
- 26:31Speaker 4: Chicago on American or United. I'm so pissed off at
- 26:34Speaker 4: this guy. I'm going on American. He's not getting my
- 26:36Speaker 4: business anymore.
- 26:37Speaker 1: Everybody avoid United for a while until the CEO goes. Hey,
- 26:42Speaker 1: President Trump, there's a lot of stuff that never gets reported,
- 26:44Speaker 1: but you report it in your daily hotline. Like as
- 26:48Speaker 1: a result of the border being closed, drug deaths are
- 26:50Speaker 1: way down. That's not been reported.
- 26:52Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 26:53Speaker 4: It's an amazing statistic. I mean, I was shocked when
- 26:55Speaker 4: I saw them. Fentanyl deaths are down. Remember, we had
- 26:58Speaker 4: a fentanyl crisis three, four years ago. Remember that?
- 27:01Speaker 1: Yeah, of course.
- 27:02Speaker 4: Now, fentanyl has almost fallen, you know, it's fallen like 80%. Wow.
- 27:07Speaker 4: And deaths from cocaine, deaths from other major, you know, drug,
- 27:13Speaker 4: dangerous drugs have fallen very substantially. But the big one
- 27:17Speaker 4: is fentanyl. And fentanyl was coming in through the border, remember?
- 27:20Speaker 4: And we've, as a result of, you know, sealing up
- 27:23Speaker 4: the border, we have cut those fentanyl. I mean, I
- 27:25Speaker 4: think there were like 60,000 deaths a year. from fentanyl
- 27:28Speaker 4: under Biden. Now it's down to like 10,000, which is
- 27:32Speaker 4: still too many, but that's a big decline.
- 27:34Speaker 1: Yeah, down 80%. Now, had it gone up 3%, the
- 27:38Speaker 1: media would be covering that story day and night.
- 27:39Speaker 4: Of course it would.
- 27:41Speaker 1: It would.
- 27:41Speaker 4: And so this is a real victory for Trump. I mean,
- 27:44Speaker 4: he is saving lives by keeping all these dangerous poisons
- 27:48Speaker 4: out of our country.
- 27:50Speaker 1: Hey, one thing I don't like about the Trump administration,
- 27:54Speaker 1: this thing about we'll buy some businesses, we'll invest in companies.
- 27:58Speaker 1: There's no good that would come of that, is there? No.
- 28:02Speaker 4: I mean, there's two problems with that. You know, when
- 28:04Speaker 4: I first came to Washington in the mid-' 80s, I actually
- 28:08Speaker 4: worked for one year in the Reagan administration, believe it
- 28:11Speaker 4: or not. And I was working on privatization, where we
- 28:15Speaker 4: were actually looking at how the federal government could sell assets,
- 28:19Speaker 4: like federal lands and the post office and stuff like that,
- 28:23Speaker 4: and sell these assets and collect money so we could
- 28:26Speaker 4: use that to reduce our debt. And so, you know,
- 28:30Speaker 4: and we did some of that. We didn't do near
- 28:32Speaker 4: enough of it. But now we have the opposite. When
- 28:35Speaker 4: you have an institution like the United States government that's
- 28:37Speaker 4: $ 40 trillion in debt, why.
- 28:40Speaker 2: Is it buying assets?
- 28:41Speaker 4: It should be selling assets. We should be selling, you know,
- 28:45Speaker 4: things and making money so that we can help reduce
- 28:47Speaker 4: our debt burden. So I don't like this. That's point
- 28:50Speaker 4: number one. And just philosophically, I guess that's it. But
- 28:53Speaker 4: the second reason I'm against it is, you know, what
- 28:55Speaker 4: the government's trying to do here is pick winners and losers.
- 28:58Speaker 2: But guess what? The government's not very good at that.
- 29:01Speaker 2: They're not very good at picking.
- 29:03Speaker 1: Winners and losers.
- 29:03Speaker 4: In fact, what they're really good at is picking losers.
- 29:05Speaker 2: Remember Solyndra?
- 29:07Speaker 4: Remember that one? Remember, what was it, Fisker Auto and
- 29:11Speaker 4: all these companies that I think it was the Obama
- 29:13Speaker 4: administration invested in. Like every one of them went bankrupt.
- 29:17Speaker 4: So I don't think these people running government who can't
- 29:20Speaker 4: sell us their own books are going to be very
- 29:22Speaker 4: good at figuring out what companies to invest in, do you?
- 29:25Speaker 1: No, it's crazy.
- 29:28Speaker 4: I'd rather go to my broker rather than have the
- 29:32Speaker 4: government tell me where to invest.
- 29:34Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 29:35Speaker 1: Hey, you were talking about this a while back. The
- 29:38Speaker 1: flat tax is the smartest, most brilliant thing. Everybody pays 17%.
- 29:43Speaker 1: It's fair. But you can never do it because selling
- 29:48Speaker 1: those loopholes and deductions is what Congress does for a living.
- 29:52Speaker 1: So how could you ever get it passed?
- 29:54Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 29:55Speaker 4: I know it's really tough because it really is, is, uh,
- 29:57Speaker 4: you know, Washington makes its living. You know, people, we
- 30:00Speaker 4: get rich, you know, three of the five richest counties
- 30:01Speaker 4: in America are in and around Washington, DC, because we
- 30:04Speaker 4: get rich because you send us all your money. Thank you.
- 30:06Speaker 4: Thank you for doing that, Mark. You're so nice to
- 30:08Speaker 4: send us all your money. And, uh, you know, you
- 30:10Speaker 4: send us a dollar and we send you 80 cents back.
- 30:13Speaker 4: It's a really great gambit we got there anyway. So
- 30:16Speaker 4: one of the ways we make a lot of money
- 30:18Speaker 4: in Washington, uh, and, and created whole industries. is by
- 30:24Speaker 4: the whole tax preparation industry. And we've got armies of
- 30:28Speaker 4: tax lawyers out there. When I get to the bottom
- 30:32Speaker 4: line of my tax return every year, and mine isn't
- 30:34Speaker 4: especially complicated, but it's a little complicated, you have to
- 30:39Speaker 4: attest to the fact that the information you've given to
- 30:42Speaker 4: the United States government is valid and true. And I
- 30:46Speaker 4: signed that, but I don't know if it is. I mean,
- 30:48Speaker 4: I do my best, but I have no idea whether
- 30:53Speaker 4: I paid the right amount because the whole thing is
- 30:55Speaker 4: so damn confusing. Why does the tax system have to
- 30:57Speaker 4: be so confusing? With a flat tax, you literally have
- 31:00Speaker 4: a postcard return. You've got seven lines on the return.
- 31:04Speaker 4: How much money did you make? You get a deduction
- 31:06Speaker 4: on your kids. You get just a few deductions, and
- 31:09Speaker 4: then you pay a small flat rate on that. And
- 31:14Speaker 4: it doesn't matter whether you're Bill Gates or Steve Moore,
- 31:16Speaker 4: you're going to pay the same rate, but he's going
- 31:18Speaker 4: to pay a hundred times more tax than I do.
- 31:20Speaker 4: Cause he has a hundred times more money than I do.
- 31:22Speaker 4: That's a fair system. And I bet most Americans love it,
- 31:25Speaker 4: but everybody in Washington hates it. Cause it takes power
- 31:27Speaker 4: away from the, from the, you know, the Congressman and lobbyists. And,
- 31:32Speaker 4: and by the way, if you know who was one
- 31:34Speaker 4: of the instigators of the flat tax was our friend.
- 31:37Speaker 1: Steve Forbes.
- 31:40Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 31:40Speaker 1: Should have been elected on it, but yeah.
- 31:43Speaker 4: Now, By the way, when he ran for president and
- 31:45Speaker 4: started talking about the flat tax, oh, my God, Washington
- 31:48Speaker 4: went into conniptions. They're like, oh, my God, stop this man.
- 31:51Speaker 1: He's dangerous. Besides the fact that it's the easiest, most logical,
- 31:56Speaker 1: fair thing in the world, what about people saying, well,
- 31:59Speaker 1: we'll get less revenue that way?
- 32:02Speaker 4: Oh, no, you get so much more because now there's
- 32:03Speaker 4: no way to stash away and hide your money. So
- 32:06Speaker 4: what we've created are these tax shelters, and who takes
- 32:09Speaker 4: advantage of the tax shelters? Rich people with fancy pants lawyers.
- 32:12Speaker 4: So now if you're somebody like a Bill Gates, you're
- 32:16Speaker 4: going to pay your fair share, but you're going to
- 32:19Speaker 4: pay a lower rate, so your incentive to continue to
- 32:23Speaker 4: invest in the economy and so on goes up. I mean,
- 32:26Speaker 4: if you imagine we had a 17% tax rate in
- 32:28Speaker 4: this country, I mean, we would be a vacuum cleaner
- 32:31Speaker 4: of capital from all over the world. Nobody could possibly
- 32:34Speaker 4: compete with the United States. So the only problem is
- 32:37Speaker 4: we'd have to find a job for all those IRS
- 32:39Speaker 4: agents and all the tax accountants.
- 32:41Speaker 1: Yeah, and those congressmen would have to find something else
- 32:43Speaker 1: to sell for a donation.
- 32:45Speaker 4: Right, exactly.
- 32:46Speaker 1: Well, Steve Moore, great stuff. And that daily briefing you
- 32:50Speaker 1: put out, the hotline, it's the best.
- 32:53Speaker 4: Did you mention it's free?
- 32:54Speaker 1: It's absolutely free. You go to UnleashProsperity.com. Sign up for it.
- 32:59Speaker 1: I urge you to do that. UnleashProsperity.com. Sign up for
- 33:02Speaker 1: the hotline. Best daily briefing and analysis and great stuff.
- 33:07Speaker 1: Steve Moore, thanks for being with us.
- 33:08Speaker 4: Okay.
- 33:09Speaker 2: Thanks, Mark.
- 33:09Speaker 5: Have a great weekend.
- 33:10Speaker 1: Take care. Take care. Hey, we've got another hour to go.
- 33:14Speaker 1: Don't forget, it's three hours every day. This show is
- 33:16Speaker 1: now three hours, nine to noon every day. Then at noon,
- 33:19Speaker 1: you've got two great hosts, Buck Sexton and Clay Travis.
- 33:22Speaker 1: 3 o'clock, you've got the most listened to radio show
- 33:25Speaker 1: in America, Sean Hannity. Jesse Kelly, 6 o'clock. And the
- 33:29Speaker 1: very funny Jimmy Fallon show every night, 9 to midnight,
- 33:33Speaker 1: here on 710WOR. Now, much more Mark. Mark Simone. Now,
- 33:40Speaker 1: 9 till noon weekdays.
- 33:43Speaker 5: On 710WOR.
- 33:45Speaker 1: Well, you had that big spike in oil over the weekend.
- 33:49Speaker 1: It shot up like $ 107 a barrel. Well, it's been dropping,
- 33:54Speaker 1: continues dropping. Been dropping the last couple of days down
- 33:57Speaker 1: $ 10 a barrel just in the last couple of days.
- 34:01Speaker 1: So that's a good sign. Apparently, oil moving like crazy
- 34:05Speaker 1: through the Strait of Hormuz. Lots and lots and lots
- 34:07Speaker 1: of oil flowing through there. It's going to be a beautiful, well,
- 34:11Speaker 1: it's going to be a sunny day. It's going to
- 34:12Speaker 1: be cool, cold, autumn, and windy today, but bright sunshine
- 34:18Speaker 1: for the next five, six days. No rain in the forecast.
- 34:22Speaker 1: That's good news. We'll be back after the news. Don't forget,
- 34:25Speaker 1: it's three hours every day, 9 to noon, 9 a.m.
- 34:28Speaker 1: till noon, three hours every day. Or if you can't
- 34:31Speaker 1: listen live, get the podcast. You can hear the show
- 34:33Speaker 1: that way anytime you want. Back after the news on 710WOR.
