Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Little take before we open the phone calls up and
- 0:02Speaker 1: that's I guess you guys have been hearing the national
- 0:05Speaker 1: news so to speak this week with Jimbo Fisher right
- 0:08Speaker 1: so I kind of want to give you guys what
- 0:10Speaker 1: I know on the situation and I want to give
- 0:12Speaker 1: out too much as far as what I do know
- 0:15Speaker 1: also don't want to come off as.
- 0:18Speaker 2: But know it all anything like that but.
- 0:21Speaker 1: I will say without saying too much the national media
- 0:24Speaker 1: is very slow on this this news as far as
- 0:27Speaker 1: Jimbo has been going around, from my perspective, what I've
- 0:29Speaker 1: gathered and my sources and people I talk to, this
- 0:33Speaker 1: has been going around for like a week and a
- 0:34Speaker 1: half as far as the noise around Jimbo. Of course,
- 0:38Speaker 1: it's already been reported, but I can absolutely say he
- 0:41Speaker 1: wants the job. There's a lot of big boosters in
- 0:44Speaker 1: high places that want him to return as well, too, right?
- 0:47Speaker 1: And there's some boosters that don't want him to return,
- 0:49Speaker 1: some fans that don't want him to return due to
- 0:52Speaker 1: How things ended at Florida State, of course, naturally, it
- 0:55Speaker 1: was a bad breakup.
- 0:56Speaker 2: And, of course, how.
- 0:57Speaker 1: Things ended at Texas A & M with all the
- 1:00Speaker 1: funds and resources that he did have didn't work out
- 1:03Speaker 1: at Texas A & M. But some things I've been
- 1:07Speaker 1: able to confirm in regards to the situation, the money
- 1:11Speaker 1: would definitely be out.
- 1:13Speaker 2: The money would definitely be out.
- 1:14Speaker 1: If Jimbo is the guy, a lot of boosters are
- 1:17Speaker 1: ready to come back and open up the checkbooks to
- 1:19Speaker 1: give him whatever he needs. He will be willing to
- 1:22Speaker 1: take less money. Will be willing to take less money.
- 1:25Speaker 1: I mean, we all know the $ 70 million deal he
- 1:28Speaker 1: got from Texas A & M, fully guaranteed, so he's
- 1:31Speaker 1: still getting paid that money. He'll take $ 5 to $ 7
- 1:35Speaker 1: million from FSU.
- 1:37Speaker 2: He's still getting $ 12.
- 1:38Speaker 1: To $ 13 million overall if you include the buyout from
- 1:44Speaker 1: Texas A & M. He will have a big budget
- 1:47Speaker 1: for staff. He will have a very big budget for staff.
- 1:49Speaker 1: That's something he's That's something he's making an emphasis on
- 1:55Speaker 1: as far as having a big money for staff.
- 1:57Speaker 2: I want to give out.
- 2:02Speaker 1: Some heavy-hitter names that's being floated around as far as
- 2:04Speaker 1: coordinators that could come on with Jimbo Fisher. And again, these,
- 2:10Speaker 1: I don't want to put on some all-world insider this, that,
- 2:14Speaker 1: and third, man. But certain sources I do have that's
- 2:18Speaker 1: pretty much good money on certain things, and this is
- 2:20Speaker 1: definitely good money. You know, the main question Florida State
- 2:24Speaker 1: fans have, OC, play calling, that type of deal. Will
- 2:27Speaker 1: he still be over play calling or will he be
- 2:31Speaker 1: the CEO and running the entire program type of deal?
- 2:35Speaker 1: He will take a step back from play calling. That's
- 2:37Speaker 1: why this officer coordinator that could possibly come on to
- 2:40Speaker 1: him is a big part of the contingent as far
- 2:44Speaker 1: as a plan to get him on. Some big names,
- 2:48Speaker 1: like I said, that's Manfred Reiner's coordinator. Can verify through
- 2:51Speaker 1: multiple sources as well too that he is already starting
- 2:55Speaker 1: to reach out to high schools and that type of
- 2:56Speaker 1: deal in recruiting fertile areas for FSU. Just checking the temperature,
- 3:02Speaker 1: getting those relationships back rolling. South Florida, Georgia, spoke with
- 3:07Speaker 1: South Florida coaches, spoken with some Georgia coaches, some coaches
- 3:11Speaker 1: within the Central Florida area as well that can confirm that, hey,
- 3:15Speaker 1: he's been reaching out, trying to get the lay of
- 3:19Speaker 1: the land a little bit, continue those relationships, that type
- 3:22Speaker 1: of deal. So that being said, Jim O'Fishery is 100%
- 3:25Speaker 1: a real option for FSU. Has been a real option. Well,
- 3:29Speaker 1: it's always been a real option, but the smoke around
- 3:31Speaker 1: it has gotten a lot thicker within the last week
- 3:35Speaker 1: and a half or so. The national media is pretty
- 3:37Speaker 1: much slow on this. We're reporting this the last few
- 3:40Speaker 1: days and kind of getting that out. Well, folks, that's actually,
- 3:43Speaker 1: I guess you could say, close within the program, close
- 3:47Speaker 1: to the program, have kind of known that this has
- 3:50Speaker 1: been something.
- 3:50Speaker 2: That is a real... serious... What's the word I want
- 3:58Speaker 2: to use? A real... It's legs to it.
- 4:06Speaker 1: Let's put it that way. It's real smoke to it.
- 4:08Speaker 1: It's an absolute chance that it possibly can happen. Both
- 4:11Speaker 1: sides have been talking. Both sides aren't interested. Let's leave
- 4:15Speaker 1: it at that. As far as how people feel about
- 4:18Speaker 1: Jimbo coming back in that type of deal and what
- 4:20Speaker 1: he can bring to the table, good and bad, 60.
- 4:24Speaker 2: Years old, which isn't old.
- 4:25Speaker 1: I know people feel like they want to have the,
- 4:28Speaker 1: you hire your next coach, you want him to be
- 4:30Speaker 1: there for the next 10 to 15 to 20 years.
- 4:32Speaker 2: You don't need that with Jimbo.
- 4:33Speaker 1: He could be here three or four or five years,
- 4:37Speaker 1: set the stage, rebuild the program for the next guy.
- 4:40Speaker 1: You could have a head coach and waiting situation as well, too.
- 4:44Speaker 1: That's something that's been floating around, kind of similar to
- 4:46Speaker 1: what Jimbo had under Bobby Bowden.
- 4:49Speaker 2: High-profile coordinator, defense, offense, come in and beat you.
- 4:53Speaker 1: Give them a healthy payday, and they come in and
- 4:55Speaker 1: be a possible bridge gap in a few years once
- 4:59Speaker 1: the program is back on, proper footing, proper resources, proper
- 5:03Speaker 1: recruiting from a talent standpoint and all that type of deal.
- 5:07Speaker 1: You know what he brings to the table as far
- 5:09Speaker 1: as recruiting. I mean, we know that. You know he's
- 5:11Speaker 1: going to be a hell of a recruiter. He's going
- 5:13Speaker 1: to get into these living rooms. He's going to get players.
- 5:15Speaker 1: He's going to get players in certain areas the FSU
- 5:17Speaker 1: needs to get players in. Great relationship in South Florida.
- 5:21Speaker 1: Great relationship in South Florida. something that Mike Norvell, even
- 5:24Speaker 1: though we've recruited South Florida, he's never really.
- 5:30Speaker 2: Coming in. He never had those relationships to begin with.
- 5:32Speaker 1: He didn't really build on it by hiring multiple guys
- 5:36Speaker 1: that's familiar within the area and guys that are aggressive
- 5:39Speaker 1: within the area. Jimbo is a guy that's already familiar
- 5:42Speaker 1: with the area, aggressive, knows how that goes.
- 5:45Speaker 2: South Florida coaches trust Jimbo. They trust him.
- 5:48Speaker 1: They'll send their guys to Jimbo easily due to past
- 5:53Speaker 1: relationships and how you treat the players.
- 5:57Speaker 2: Go back to all the Florida State guys from South
- 5:58Speaker 2: Florida that.
- 6:01Speaker 1: Went big time or that produced big time for Florida
- 6:05Speaker 1: State from a Jimbo Fisher standpoint, Dalvin Cook, Devontae Freeman.
- 6:09Speaker 2: LaMarcus Joyner.
- 6:11Speaker 1: Names go on and on and on as far as
- 6:13Speaker 1: players from that area that we recruited and became big
- 6:17Speaker 1: time players for.
- 6:18Speaker 2: And even going to Texas A & M.
- 6:20Speaker 1: He went down there and recruited guys, and those guys
- 6:22Speaker 1: are going to be first-round draft picks as well. So
- 6:25Speaker 1: you bring that to the table. Coaching standpoint, just from
- 6:29Speaker 1: an organizational standpoint, it's a lot better. What I do question,
- 6:32Speaker 1: I will have a question if we do, if Jimbo
- 6:35Speaker 1: Fisher is the guy. The main question I will have
- 6:37Speaker 1: is probably my main question would probably be how things
- 6:51Speaker 1: are handled from a, I don't want to say discipline,
- 6:57Speaker 1: a program structural standpoint. Because at a certain point, you
- 7:01Speaker 1: guys know that culture, so to speak, it left during
- 7:06Speaker 1: the tail end of his FSU days. It left him
- 7:09Speaker 1: tail end of his FSU days. Can you get that
- 7:11Speaker 1: mojo back and then build that proper culture that you
- 7:14Speaker 1: had with Marcus Joyner, Selva Smith, Timmy Jernigan, Jameis Wilson, this, that,
- 7:19Speaker 1: and the third? When you get that back going, he
- 7:22Speaker 1: should be fine. But again, I do think he's motivated
- 7:24Speaker 1: for sure. He's sat back and had time to realize
- 7:28Speaker 1: mistakes he's made at Florida State and mistakes he's made
- 7:31Speaker 1: at Texas A & M to kind of be better
- 7:32Speaker 1: for it. And this is pretty much all he asked
- 7:34Speaker 1: for as far as Florida State from a resource standpoint.
- 7:38Speaker 1: He's been asking for this stuff. The stuff we're currently
- 7:39Speaker 1: getting now, Jimbo asked for this shit 10 plus years ago.
- 7:44Speaker 1: And we're just now getting it. Better late than never,
- 7:47Speaker 1: but that's what I feel like from a We're trying
- 7:49Speaker 1: to reorganize everything from the top bottom to be a
- 7:52Speaker 1: competent running organization. And that's exactly what he wants. He
- 7:56Speaker 1: can step in and be a similar transition to ACC. Now,
- 7:59Speaker 1: I do think he can win eight to nine games,
- 8:01Speaker 1: compete for the ACC championship for sure.
- 8:03Speaker 2: You got Clemson on the downfall. I think they're definitely done.
- 8:06Speaker 1: They did come back and win against North Carolina. Shout
- 8:09Speaker 1: out to Dabo and those guys for fighting. But Clemson,
- 8:11Speaker 1: I feel like, is on the downfall. Miami is, of course, up.
- 8:14Speaker 1: SMU is a good player within the ACC Conference, Louisville,
- 8:17Speaker 1: et cetera. It's not world leaders that FSU, without a
- 8:21Speaker 1: competent leadership at the top and proper backing, can't compensate
- 8:27Speaker 1: for and be effective with. So, again, that's my spiel
- 8:29Speaker 1: on Jimbo Fisher. It's absolutely true as far as the
- 8:32Speaker 1: smoke that you've been hearing. The national media is kind
- 8:36Speaker 1: of late to the party. This thing has been matriculating
- 8:39Speaker 1: for a while now. starting to reach out to figure
- 8:41Speaker 1: out things, reaching out to coaches in different areas as
- 8:44Speaker 1: far as from a recruiting standpoint. So it'll be interesting
- 8:47Speaker 1: to see how things play out over the next few
- 8:49Speaker 1: weeks as far as from an FSU standpoint, wins, losses.
- 8:52Speaker 1: We'll see how things go. We'll see how things go.
- 8:55Speaker 1: That's pretty much all I have on that general official spirit.
- 8:57Speaker 1: Wanted to address that because it has been national news,
- 9:00Speaker 1: national headlines. Can't confirm that the smoke is real and
- 9:03Speaker 1: the smoke has been going on for a while.
- 9:05Speaker 2: This is nothing new. The Wheels on a bus are
- 9:12Speaker 2: really just on a turn now.
