- 0:00Speaker 1: So, Lisa, how do you like shedding your bathroom with
- 0:03Speaker 1: two brothers?
- 0:04Speaker 2: Two brothers? Bart? Who is this kid? Be cool? Be cool?
- 0:08Speaker 2: He's an orphan, you know, just like Annie, except he's
- 0:11Speaker 2: a dude and he hates tomorrow. I hate it so much.
- 0:14Speaker 3: Four finger Discount, dude.
- 0:32Speaker 4: Welcome to four finger Discount. Where this week Bart gets
- 0:35Speaker 4: a brother. It's oh brother Where Bart now.
- 0:37Speaker 1: And Dana and I am guy neither was half brothers.
- 0:40Speaker 4: No. I actually thought about this when I was watching
- 0:42Speaker 4: this and I'm writing my notes, and I went, I
- 0:43Speaker 4: wonder if I ever felt the way that Bart feels.
- 0:46Speaker 4: And I don't think I ever wished I had a brother.
- 0:49Speaker 4: I don't think that thought ever came across. There were
- 0:52Speaker 4: times where I kind of wish I had someone to
- 0:53Speaker 4: kick it footy with. Maybe, But I guess maybe because
- 0:56Speaker 4: my sister Stacy Chatt to Stacy was always willing too
- 0:59Speaker 4: the sort of great and kick the already and do
- 1:00Speaker 4: things like that. I never I never sort of missed that,
- 1:02Speaker 4: But that brotherly connection, I guess I kind of did.
- 1:05Speaker 4: It would have been nice. I guess I have that
- 1:06Speaker 4: brotherly connection. What about you? You had his four sisters.
- 1:10Speaker 1: I had four sisters. Yeah, and being the youngest of
- 1:12Speaker 1: the Charlie correct. Yeah, yeah, so, I mean I know
- 1:16Speaker 1: it was it was. It was a great way to
- 1:18Speaker 1: grow up.
- 1:18Speaker 4: I love my sisters very very much, and they're also
- 1:20Speaker 4: a lot older than.
- 1:21Speaker 1: They were, that's true. But I also, yeah, I had
- 1:22Speaker 1: a lot of sort of time to myself.
- 1:24Speaker 4: So we're almost like an early child because I was
- 1:26Speaker 4: so much older. I was just some degreels. What's the
- 1:27Speaker 4: age gept between you and yet the youngest sister as
- 1:31Speaker 4: eight years so by the time she was tenner, you
- 1:33Speaker 4: were still like seven eight, So you was like an
- 1:35Speaker 4: early child.
- 1:36Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I mean she didn't want anything to
- 1:37Speaker 1: do with a little brad like me. Yeah. Did I
- 1:40Speaker 1: find myself wishing, Oh I wish I had a brother
- 1:42Speaker 1: or even wish they had a sibling close marriage. No,
- 1:44Speaker 1: not really. I was pretty happy with my own company
- 1:46Speaker 1: and was from a young age. And you know, I
- 1:49Speaker 1: formed good male friendships when I was young, and they
- 1:51Speaker 1: were essentially like my brothers. So JP, yeah, JP, Well, JP,
- 1:57Speaker 1: who was thinking is the main one? I'm thinking It
- 1:59Speaker 1: was my best friend when I was growing up and
- 2:01Speaker 1: still a very very good mate. We had a very
- 2:03Speaker 1: nice catch up the other night steak and beers good stuff.
- 2:07Speaker 1: But he doesn't have any sisters. He has two brothers,
- 2:11Speaker 1: and I want to say I always envied their relationship.
- 2:13Speaker 1: I thought that's a nice relation about because they're very close.
- 2:17Speaker 1: You can tell they're good friends as well as brothers.
- 2:19Speaker 4: So sometimes it comescross my mind. I go, well, nickol
- 2:21Speaker 4: and I have produced this, this prodigy athlete and Aliot,
- 2:25Speaker 4: maybe you try and produce a couple more, make more money,
- 2:28Speaker 4: give them, give about the new sal Wards, get.
- 2:31Speaker 1: A little manning dynastic shout out to this episode.
- 2:35Speaker 4: But I just thought about when I was watching this going,
- 2:37Speaker 4: I wonder if I ever felt this way. I just
- 2:39Speaker 4: I don't think I did. There probably are people out
- 2:41Speaker 4: there who wish they did have a brother, or sisters
- 2:42Speaker 4: who wish I had a sister, But for me, no,
- 2:45Speaker 4: There's a movie.
- 2:45Speaker 1: That came out long and sorry, sorry to sort of
- 2:47Speaker 1: bring the mood down, but The Iron Claw. Did you
- 2:49Speaker 1: want to that one about the rest of Yeah, Eric's yeah, yeah,
- 2:54Speaker 1: but I mean it's got Really it's very depressing. These
- 2:58Speaker 1: brothers who are all sort of wrestlers or goaded into
- 3:00Speaker 1: wrestling by their father.
- 3:01Speaker 4: And there was a ship industry.
- 3:03Speaker 1: Oh yeah, and they had a really really bad run.
- 3:06Speaker 1: But it's just a sad bit at the end not
- 3:09Speaker 1: to sort of spoil anything, but you know, with but
- 3:12Speaker 1: here's the ending does But there's a lot of the
- 3:15Speaker 1: memories that I used to be a brother and he's
- 3:17Speaker 1: got his cou sons and saying we'll be your brother's dad,
- 3:19Speaker 1: and I'll go like, goddamn man, Yeah mine claw good movie.
- 3:25Speaker 1: Depressing as fuck, But no, I never really sort of
- 3:28Speaker 1: had this itchual is urged, like, oh yeah, I never
- 3:31Speaker 1: had this ittual urge to replace my mum's control pills
- 3:38Speaker 1: with with tik taks but or tactics.
- 3:41Speaker 4: Yes, Bart does want a brother.
- 3:43Speaker 1: He does, he does. Yeah, I mean I found this interesting.
- 3:47Speaker 1: Didn't really like this episode, nor did I in all
- 3:49Speaker 1: on see, And it's one of those ones.
- 3:50Speaker 4: I'm sorry.
- 3:51Speaker 1: I'm feeling like a very Monday morning quarterback kind of
- 3:53Speaker 1: guy again, Eli Manning or Peyton Manning. Do you think
- 3:55Speaker 1: you can fix it? I feel like I could probably
- 3:57Speaker 1: fix I think we could fix this.
- 3:58Speaker 4: Yeah, because there's a I've got here, There's a story
- 4:00Speaker 4: are you here that I just don't a genuine heartfelt story.
- 4:02Speaker 4: I just don't think they tapped into at all.
- 4:04Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:04Speaker 4: Yeah, this was written by a man, Matt Salmon as well.
- 4:07Speaker 1: Correct.
- 4:07Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 4:08Speaker 1: I found it interesting that one of the notes I've
- 4:09Speaker 1: written here is this the first time it feels like
- 4:12Speaker 1: the first time to me at least, that we've seen
- 4:13Speaker 1: real sisterhood between Lisa and Naggy.
- 4:16Speaker 4: Not the first time, but it's the first time in
- 4:17Speaker 4: a while. Yeah. And I know that Naggie's a baby.
- 4:20Speaker 4: There's so much you can do with babies.
- 4:22Speaker 1: But they're like, oh, okay, yeah, I mean, yeah, they've
- 4:26Speaker 1: got that sisterly bond and yeah, they can sort of communicate.
- 4:29Speaker 4: On that level the way women do. I don't understand it.
- 4:32Speaker 1: But yeah, for Bart to then go, oh, yeah, there's
- 4:36Speaker 1: no one in the in my family that I can
- 4:38Speaker 1: sort of relate to and bond with on.
- 4:40Speaker 4: That level, Yeah, I thought, oh, that's something you can
- 4:44Speaker 4: work with. Absolutely.
- 4:45Speaker 1: Now, how you resolve that or how you explore that
- 4:48Speaker 1: and then how you resolved it, I'm not one hundred
- 4:50Speaker 1: percent sure, but it felt like they didn't really do
- 4:52Speaker 1: a whole lot with it here.
- 4:54Speaker 4: I just think that him going to an orphanage and
- 4:56Speaker 4: orphan just escaping the orphanage and moving in with them.
- 4:58Speaker 4: It's just felt so flim. Yeah. I just thought, Oh,
- 5:02Speaker 4: this kid's now living with them and they don't care
- 5:03Speaker 4: about this. This kid's now living with them. Home was like, hey, Charlie,
- 5:06Speaker 4: you joined the family.
- 5:06Speaker 1: I'm like, what, well, that's I mean, I think Bart's
- 5:09Speaker 1: were pulling a bit of a swifty by saying, oh,
- 5:11Speaker 1: I mean they never he never says he's my new
- 5:14Speaker 1: brother or anything like that. He's like, here's Charlie, my
- 5:16Speaker 1: new friend. You're going to be seeing a lot of him.
- 5:18Speaker 1: So it's yeah, I'm implied that going to be sort
- 5:20Speaker 1: of sleeping under Bart's bed and then all that kind
- 5:23Speaker 1: of business. But I don't know, it just felt like
- 5:27Speaker 1: Bart wanting a brother. Yeah, it felt like something you
- 5:30Speaker 1: could explore in a in an interesting way.
- 5:32Speaker 4: And talking about how we discussing earlier you didn't have
- 5:35Speaker 4: a brother, but you found friends who became your brothers.
- 5:38Speaker 4: I feel like, for me, I'm watching this going the
- 5:40Speaker 4: story he should have been that Millhouse is the brother
- 5:42Speaker 4: that Bart never careered but wanted. Yeah, so there was
- 5:46Speaker 4: an element of there's a scene where Millhouse points out
- 5:48Speaker 4: who's this kid? And if I'm thinking, oh, okay, there's
- 5:50Speaker 4: going to be a jealousy angle here. They don't tap
- 5:53Speaker 4: into it all they should have been that Millhouse gets
- 5:55Speaker 4: jealous of Charlie and Bartmus replaces Millhouse with Charlie and
- 5:58Speaker 4: then realize, you know what your house, I've always had
- 6:01Speaker 4: a brother. I've already yes, exactly, and there's you're Closing's
- 6:05Speaker 4: the end. I've always had a brother. It's you.
- 6:06Speaker 1: Yeah, that would be a hitty rye absolutely, yeah, I
- 6:09Speaker 1: mean it could be a really good heartfelt episode with
- 6:11Speaker 1: a lot of comedy sort of leading up to that,
- 6:13Speaker 1: with you know, sort of shenanigans between you know, Millhouse
- 6:15Speaker 1: trying to sabotage Charlie and Charlie's clearly a kid who
- 6:18Speaker 1: knows all the angles. You know, you see him sort
- 6:20Speaker 1: of doing getting up to various midst of mischief and
- 6:22Speaker 1: sort of outsmarting Millhouse at every turn. And then yeah,
- 6:27Speaker 1: but yeah, the culminations but realizing oh, I always had
- 6:31Speaker 1: a brother, and.
- 6:31Speaker 4: Yeah it's you. That's great.
- 6:33Speaker 1: That's a that's a true fixed it.
- 6:35Speaker 4: We fixed it. Yeah, that is the ending. Yeah, so
- 6:39Speaker 4: and that's the ending of this episode. So, but a
- 6:42Speaker 4: similar thing to last week, you know how we were annoyed, Actually, no,
- 6:45Speaker 4: what No. We did a review last week of Lisa
- 6:48Speaker 4: ghoest Gaga, which is available on our Patreon, where we
- 6:50Speaker 4: were really pissed off that Bart ruined Lisa's life essentially
- 6:54Speaker 4: by revealing her to be the truth teller in this
- 6:57Speaker 4: episode here so I had the same as last week.
- 6:58Speaker 4: It wasn't last week reviewed that episodelast week. It's a
- 7:00Speaker 4: season twenty three episode of Out on Patro As I said,
- 7:03Speaker 4: but the story he of Lisa, she just comes across
- 7:06Speaker 4: like such a bitch. She really does, but absolutely no reason.
- 7:10Speaker 4: She's just almost like reveling in Bart's sadness, and it
- 7:15Speaker 4: just didn't I feel that the characters in this just
- 7:18Speaker 4: felt very mean spirited. I remember there was a scene
- 7:20Speaker 4: where Bart points out Maggie. Maggie's like, no, waving to Barton,
- 7:23Speaker 4: just being nice to him. He's like, ah, go way, sister,
- 7:26Speaker 4: shop it around somewhere else, and it's like, why is
- 7:28Speaker 4: everyone Why does anyone like each other anymore? Why they
- 7:31Speaker 4: always means The comedy seems to be drawn from being
- 7:34Speaker 4: mean to each other.
- 7:35Speaker 1: I don't mind that line from part of the shop
- 7:38Speaker 1: at Somewhere Else, And yeah, I think that would work
- 7:40Speaker 1: in the context of him feeling sort of like disregarded
- 7:43Speaker 1: or slided.
- 7:44Speaker 4: Or something like that.
- 7:44Speaker 1: Maggie's never done that to him, I know, I know,
- 7:46Speaker 1: but yeah, he's acting out. But yeah, this really starts
- 7:52Speaker 1: starting to feel like the way you know when people
- 7:56Speaker 1: talk about the decline, when as we enter the twenties,
- 8:01Speaker 1: of the sentence kind of like, oh yeah, it's getting
- 8:04Speaker 1: mean spirited or it's getting not lazy, but it's sort
- 8:07Speaker 1: of the tone of the humor is changing.
- 8:09Speaker 4: Well, you got annoyed with Lisa a couple of episodes
- 8:11Speaker 4: ago with The Loser, Well, yeah, and I mean it
- 8:14Speaker 4: feels very much like that. It's like, remember when Lisa
- 8:17Speaker 4: wanted the best for everybody? Well? True, yeah, I mean
- 8:19Speaker 4: there's a bit of real sarcastic bitch.
- 8:22Speaker 1: Yeah, there's a bit of this. There's a bit of
- 8:23Speaker 1: the start here, and I mean, I can I'm sort
- 8:25Speaker 1: of on Lisa's side here, but this all felt very
- 8:29Speaker 1: sort of rerunnish and retreadish, where it's snowing and home
- 8:34Speaker 1: it's talking about, oh, well, what's all this global warming stuff?
- 8:37Speaker 1: Lady d It was like, wait a minute, I'm sorry,
- 8:39Speaker 1: that's I'm you know, I'm living in a fantasy house
- 8:43Speaker 1: on gum drop Lane La La La La La. Yeah,
- 8:46Speaker 1: I'm the magical man from from Happy Land, just being
- 8:48Speaker 1: a joke for no reason.
- 8:49Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 8:49Speaker 1: But then Lisa's going, really really, that's it's like, that's
- 8:53Speaker 1: a placeholder line. That's not your actual joke, that's not
- 8:56Speaker 1: that's not the line of dialog, there's no line, no, no.
- 8:59Speaker 1: What you put in the screw is. Lisa's reaction is
- 9:02Speaker 1: something akin to really really, and then you come up
- 9:05Speaker 1: and find something. Then you find out with the funny
- 9:07Speaker 1: line that actually does that as opposed to her just
- 9:08Speaker 1: saying really really, because really really is a line that say,
- 9:12Speaker 1: I don't know Meg from Family Guys says I'm sorry
- 9:14Speaker 1: to keep bringing up Family Guy, but I'm seeing the influence.
- 9:17Speaker 4: More and more on the senses or.
- 9:20Speaker 1: A different style of humor is infiltrating and permeating the Simpsons.
- 9:24Speaker 1: And I'm not a fan.
- 9:25Speaker 4: I like it. And also Lisa reacting that way makes
- 9:28Speaker 4: you the viewer go, really, that's all you got? Yeah,
- 9:31Speaker 4: and it leaves you feel in the same way exactly,
- 9:33Speaker 4: just disappointed, like you used to be better expected more
- 9:38Speaker 4: from here also to the story of Nelson where he
- 9:41Speaker 4: gets Marge's birth control pills and he keeps eating but
- 9:43Speaker 4: he's eating them forever going forward. Now he never runs
- 9:45Speaker 4: out of him, just keeps eating them and eating them.
- 9:47Speaker 1: And he's like, say, there's approximately nine tic TACs or
- 9:52Speaker 1: tactics or whatever the funk they call them.
- 9:53Speaker 4: But the thing is all over the funk they call them.
- 9:56Speaker 4: But the thing is, get it. He's emotional because he's
- 9:59Speaker 4: like a woman. Get him. Women are emotional. Get it.
- 10:01Speaker 1: It's like, it's like, I must admit I have written
- 10:03Speaker 1: down here yay gender stereotyping and look, I'm old school
- 10:07Speaker 1: sometimes insensitive a butcher blog. At the same time, it's like,
- 10:12Speaker 1: I look, I don't mind that on occasion if it
- 10:14Speaker 1: can be used sort of. It was just once fine, yeah,
- 10:17Speaker 1: but all throughout this episode it's like, hey, men drive
- 10:20Speaker 1: like this, women drive like this. And by the end
- 10:25Speaker 1: spoilers for the end of this episode, when Charlie gets
- 10:27Speaker 1: adopted by a family, that's very.
- 10:29Speaker 4: End of the Davis family. It's such a nothing ending.
- 10:32Speaker 4: By the way, it's like, now he's been adopted by
- 10:34Speaker 4: a family, he's clearly not happy, and they're just like, yeah,
- 10:36Speaker 4: go see, and it's like that's the end.
- 10:37Speaker 1: I mean, that's the thing Charlie is not necessarily a villain.
- 10:41Speaker 1: He doesn't deserve like a come up And I'm not
- 10:43Speaker 1: saying this is a come up and s or anything
- 10:44Speaker 1: like that, but it does feel like a kind of
- 10:46Speaker 1: ironic punishment that Charlie is not necessarily earned or deserves.
- 10:52Speaker 1: But yeah, that whole thing about oh girls bigger and
- 10:56Speaker 1: they just want to you know, make over things like
- 10:58Speaker 1: the fuck man come And also, you know, I thinking
- 11:05Speaker 1: I'm going to be saying w two WTF a bit
- 11:08Speaker 1: through this episode because I mean, the whole bro Land thing,
- 11:12Speaker 1: the whole brillant it went forever. Yeah, not necessarily great.
- 11:17Speaker 1: I mean, I don't know, don't I'm loath to diss
- 11:21Speaker 1: the Smothers brothers because apparently they've kind of pivotal onto
- 11:24Speaker 1: American comedy at a certain time.
- 11:26Speaker 4: This is not that time that went on for a
- 11:28Speaker 4: long time. Yeah, and none of it was funny, no, no.
- 11:32Speaker 4: But we always talk.
- 11:32Speaker 1: About how the Simpsons will sort of like reference other
- 11:34Speaker 1: things or at least, you know, pay tribute to its
- 11:37Speaker 1: comedy ancestors and things like that.
- 11:39Speaker 4: But I think dedicated thirty seconds to them, yeah.
- 11:42Speaker 1: Pretty much, because I yeah, I get the feeling there's
- 11:45Speaker 1: not a lot of viewers of The Simpsons, particularly at
- 11:47Speaker 1: this stage of the game, particularly season twenty one, who
- 11:49Speaker 1: are going to be familiar with the Smothers brothers particular,
- 11:51Speaker 1: you know, offbeat style of comedy, stylings or whatever. I
- 11:56Speaker 1: was aware of them, but yeah, I'm looking at going
- 12:00Speaker 1: I don't know. I felt like, what's his name? Grew
- 12:02Speaker 1: in just beak with me.
- 12:05Speaker 4: You're like, this, this is garbage. What the fuck was
- 12:09Speaker 4: that South Park reference that came out of nowhere? Added
- 12:12Speaker 4: nothing it was and the thing is.
- 12:14Speaker 1: Actual note what's with the south Park bit? Yeah, what's
- 12:17Speaker 1: the point of it?
- 12:18Speaker 4: What's the point of it? The only point is the promos. So, hey,
- 12:22Speaker 4: the south Park takes and Simpsons taking the mick out
- 12:24Speaker 4: of South Park and you have that visual of them
- 12:26Speaker 4: at the bus up You're like, oh my god, I've
- 12:27Speaker 4: got to watch this, and you watching it like oh oh,
- 12:30Speaker 4: I go back to The snow Dogs where it's like
- 12:32Speaker 4: the trailer is just the dogs talking the whole time,
- 12:34Speaker 4: and you get to the movie and you're like, oh,
- 12:35Speaker 4: that was Cuba Gooding Junior's dream sequds. It goes for
- 12:37Speaker 4: about two minutes. Great snow Dogs, They're just fucking dogsn't
- 12:43Speaker 4: even talk. Then the trailer I was talking and laughing.
- 12:46Speaker 4: I'm like, oh, it's gonna be fun.
- 12:46Speaker 2: Of the family.
- 12:49Speaker 4: What the fuck is this the Cuba Gooding Junior movie. Yeah,
- 12:51Speaker 4: so yeah, a lot wrong with this episode in the
- 12:54Speaker 4: South Park thing, I'm going, I'm going, this is the
- 12:57Speaker 4: first time the Simpsons have genuinely taken not taking the mick,
- 13:00Speaker 4: but pay tribute to south By Child visually in this
- 13:03Speaker 4: kind of thing. To this level, Kyle doesn't even know
- 13:06Speaker 4: who plays Carl Millhouse, doesn't ever say anything, right, So
- 13:10Speaker 4: he kills Kenny that's it? Which is Ralph Roight? Yeah?
- 13:13Speaker 4: Which is Ralph? Ralph sort of mumble something under the thing, which, hey,
- 13:17Speaker 4: that's because that's what Kenny does. That's not funny though
- 13:20Speaker 4: you make it funny. Then he hits him and say, hey,
- 13:22Speaker 4: you killed Ralph or Kenny or whatever. So what do
- 13:25Speaker 4: we were saying before?
- 13:25Speaker 1: It's like, this is the placeholder that you put in
- 13:27Speaker 1: while you come up with a jokes like, oh, this
- 13:29Speaker 1: is what's going to happen, but doesn't. Swartsweather talks about this,
- 13:34Speaker 1: not about this in particular, but he'll say, I'll write
- 13:37Speaker 1: a ship draft, yeah, and then I get to rewrite
- 13:39Speaker 1: the ship draft because rewriting is the fun.
- 13:41Speaker 4: Part, like get a story happening. Yeah. Yeah, it's like.
- 13:46Speaker 1: Homer says something funny here, and then I'll come back
- 13:49Speaker 1: the next day when it's tarting to do draft too,
- 13:50Speaker 1: it's like, okay, well, what's he going to say?
- 13:52Speaker 2: You?
- 13:52Speaker 4: And I literally but that Millhouse ending, right, that is
- 13:55Speaker 4: a sensational ending in my o. Pin it's really good.
- 13:57Speaker 4: You can get an ending and go back from that,
- 13:59Speaker 4: your reverse in engineer from that.
- 14:00Speaker 1: Yeah about that, right, as always say, you gotta know
- 14:04Speaker 1: your ending for yest.
- 14:04Speaker 4: Yeah, but let's let's write that one. Absolutely. Yeah. That
- 14:09Speaker 4: could be a subplot in the Simpsons movie too.
- 14:12Speaker 1: Absolutely.
- 14:13Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 14:13Speaker 1: No, I think I think we've actually got the bones
- 14:16Speaker 1: of a good episode.
- 14:16Speaker 4: Ye. With that, I mean, I will give the voice
- 14:20Speaker 4: out of Jordan is the guy they yeah, Jordan, the
- 14:22Speaker 4: guy who's who's the voice of Russell in Up. Yeah,
- 14:26Speaker 4: he's retired and he doesn't do any more voice that.
- 14:27Speaker 4: He was only nine years old when this when this
- 14:30Speaker 4: was recorded. He's good as Charlie, he really is.
- 14:32Speaker 1: He's one of my favorite moments.
- 14:34Speaker 4: Yeah, okay, we'll get that in the second but I
- 14:36Speaker 4: was surprised to learn that he was the not just
- 14:39Speaker 4: the youngest guest star, but he's the first ever guestar
- 14:43Speaker 4: who wasn't born before the show. He was good, he did.
- 14:49Speaker 1: I must admit when I I thought who they got,
- 14:52Speaker 1: I wasn't looking at who was doing voices before the episode.
- 14:55Speaker 4: And on to the end credit normal, they don't get
- 14:57Speaker 4: guest voices for kids, and obviously they haven't because yeah,
- 15:00Speaker 4: a kid guest start.
- 15:01Speaker 1: This sounds like a child actor, And I was sorry,
- 15:04Speaker 1: who are child actors around this? I mean, because I
- 15:06Speaker 1: was thinking, oh, yeah, mcaulay colgan is larger. Would they
- 15:09Speaker 1: all grown up by now? So it's not them, We're
- 15:12Speaker 1: so old?
- 15:13Speaker 4: Correct?
- 15:14Speaker 1: Who are the kids these days? But Colie Culkin is it?
- 15:17Speaker 1: The stars of the good son Corey Feldman. But I
- 15:23Speaker 1: really just remember thinking, whoever's voicing, Charlie's doing a good
- 15:26Speaker 1: job and yeah, feels like a legitimate kid but also
- 15:29Speaker 1: a professional actor.
- 15:31Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah that worked all right as well, short and sharp.
- 15:35Speaker 4: Yeah she's been on the show before, Yeah she had
- 15:37Speaker 4: a more prominent role, but this time here she was
- 15:38Speaker 4: just playing the third sister, but also a little interesting tippic.
- 15:42Speaker 4: This was the last episode of The Simpsons to air
- 15:44Speaker 4: in the two thousands.
- 15:46Speaker 1: So I read, yeah, wow, time just keeps on slipping.
- 15:49Speaker 1: So's in the great or silver Spoons, all that stuff,
- 15:55Speaker 1: my favorite favorite moments.
- 15:57Speaker 4: So you kick off of your first one. You said
- 15:59Speaker 4: Charlie had one of yours.
- 16:01Speaker 1: I think Bart referred to is an orphan like Any,
- 16:03Speaker 1: except he doesn't like Tomorrow.
- 16:04Speaker 4: It's like, I hate it so much. Good line reading, Yes,
- 16:09Speaker 4: I really liked Any when I was a kid. I
- 16:11Speaker 4: loved the movie Annie Loved as a kid. I alreadyatched
- 16:14Speaker 4: about two years ago, and I was like, oh, you
- 16:16Speaker 4: should have left it in your memory. Kid. It's fine,
- 16:20Speaker 4: but it's just I just I was obsessed with the
- 16:22Speaker 4: song to man is my favorite endings of all time.
- 16:26Speaker 1: And then you grow up and you realize, oh, easy Street,
- 16:27Speaker 1: it's the best song Tim carry and the Beaters and
- 16:31Speaker 1: carries the best at everything. Tim Curry is pretty good stuff.
- 16:35Speaker 1: I just gotta laugh out of this line that's still
- 16:37Speaker 1: came out of left field. I think Bart's trying to
- 16:40Speaker 1: wangle himself an orphan.
- 16:42Speaker 4: My dad going to have any more real life Jaws?
- 16:44Speaker 4: A bit off? My dad's wiener, what the real life
- 16:48Speaker 4: Jaws I think it was a real life Jaws. Yeah, Jaws. Yeah,
- 16:52Speaker 4: the ones on the movie a real life Jaws. I
- 16:55Speaker 4: really liked in that scene where she goes to throw
- 16:58Speaker 4: him out and he goes Oliver from the race car monopoly,
- 17:01Speaker 4: the race car. It's true race car. Everyone wants to
- 17:04Speaker 4: be the race car.
- 17:04Speaker 1: Everyone did't want to be the race can If not, okay,
- 17:07Speaker 1: if you can't get the race car, what are you?
- 17:09Speaker 4: I'm probably the dog. I'm top out, top hat. Yeah.
- 17:11Speaker 4: I thought you'd be top ha.
- 17:12Speaker 1: I'm fancy yeah.
- 17:14Speaker 2: Uh.
- 17:14Speaker 1: And my other favorite moment, because I only have three,
- 17:20Speaker 1: As you get older and you're in a significant.
- 17:24Speaker 4: Is my favorite part too. I like you have a
- 17:25Speaker 4: significant other. It's like, do we desert that? Do we
- 17:28Speaker 4: make love? The eternal quandary? More and more? Did a
- 17:33Speaker 4: first des desserts? Weading out?
- 17:36Speaker 2: More and more?
- 17:39Speaker 4: We always go. I would have dinner first, be fine, tomorrow,
- 17:44Speaker 4: ray check morning, see in the morning. I was like,
- 17:49Speaker 4: they're doing well. The one thing they're doing well at
- 17:51Speaker 4: the moment is relatable margin Homer stories. And you didn't
- 17:54Speaker 4: really relate to the detailing the lies or making the
- 17:57Speaker 4: kids eat healthy thing because I thought I was quite
- 18:00Speaker 4: relatable where it's like, we'll make the kids eat healthy,
- 18:01Speaker 4: but we won't in secret. But yeah, dessert first or sex,
- 18:06Speaker 4: Like they're nailing that aspect of the shape. Maybe it's
- 18:10Speaker 4: just because I'm an adult watching it now, I'm just
- 18:12Speaker 4: relating to these stories more. I think I was a kid,
- 18:15Speaker 4: I would never any to do what they've been talking about. No, No,
- 18:18Speaker 4: you surely can do both. Or you know, even if
- 18:20Speaker 4: you're a te we even know what snuggling? What's what's snuggling?
- 18:23Speaker 1: Yeah, or even if you're a teenager again, sex, eat
- 18:27Speaker 1: and sex at the same time.
- 18:31Speaker 4: Next question, you there eating the beast? All right, trivia time.
- 18:35Speaker 4: My first question for you is what are the three
- 18:41Speaker 4: ingredients of gelatine? Oh? It's is it hoops? Oh? Bones,
- 18:49Speaker 4: getting bones the sickest horses.
- 18:51Speaker 1: Yes, let's see only three questions. What is the brand
- 18:56Speaker 1: of salt that but is on the path the frozen path.
- 19:02Speaker 4: No idea, It's called Winter Road, Winter Road. Okay. My
- 19:06Speaker 4: next question for you is what brand what license pants
- 19:09Speaker 4: does Bart wear when he's doing the catwalk?
- 19:11Speaker 1: If you mean the tights, they are the tights are
- 19:13Speaker 1: by Hello Kitty.
- 19:14Speaker 4: Yes.
- 19:14Speaker 1: Now, my follow up question to you, which you'll probably
- 19:17Speaker 1: get the belt is by what and the vest is
- 19:19Speaker 1: by who.
- 19:20Speaker 4: I liked this actually, so the belt's Twizzler and the
- 19:23Speaker 4: vest is Nelson, which I guess is kind of a
- 19:25Speaker 4: call back to the fact that Nelson may have was
- 19:27Speaker 4: there when you're dating Lisa good well being. Okay, that
- 19:31Speaker 4: was my that was your question, of course. Yes, my
- 19:33Speaker 4: next question for you is what does Bart cook for dessert?
- 19:37Speaker 1: And this was also my first question to you. Which
- 19:39Speaker 1: is taraguan encrusted Atlantic salmon?
- 19:41Speaker 4: No, that's the five course meal. What's the dessert? Old?
- 19:44Speaker 1: Is it passion fruit parthe or something? Passion fruit soufle
- 19:47Speaker 1: that's right, with a vanilla something. Yeah, that sounds pretty nice.
- 19:50Speaker 1: I mean passion fruit, good flavor. I'm not a passion
- 19:53Speaker 1: fruit guy. I rem my name, God bless the name Marlene.
- 19:55Speaker 1: She whenever I'd get her yogurt, she always get by
- 19:58Speaker 1: some yogurts for me. She loved the passion fruit flavors.
- 20:01Speaker 1: I don't like passion fruits. I'm more about the strawberries
- 20:03Speaker 1: than that. But yeah, passion fruit isn't It's too sweet
- 20:05Speaker 1: for me. I guess maybe I'm sure. Yeah, I mean no,
- 20:07Speaker 1: I like I like passion fruit flavor as opposed to it,
- 20:10Speaker 1: I won't need a passion fruit had a passion fruit
- 20:12Speaker 1: flavor something?
- 20:13Speaker 4: Oh yeah, when speaking of flavors, right, I just discussion
- 20:16Speaker 4: with Nicola last night. When you're talking about lollies. Do
- 20:20Speaker 4: you call lollies by the flavor of the color flavor?
- 20:24Speaker 4: Do you see? I said, I want I want a
- 20:26Speaker 4: red snake, I want a purple peple. What's your favorite favor?
- 20:29Speaker 4: Purple snakes? Oh? In that case? Yeah, because someone the
- 20:33Speaker 4: other day out the other the day, sorry, is can
- 20:35Speaker 4: you pass me a grape snake? And I was like,
- 20:37Speaker 4: oh that was weird. That's it was a dad saying
- 20:42Speaker 4: so and so do you want any grape snakes? She's
- 20:45Speaker 4: like yes please. I was like, grape snakes, rape grapes,
- 20:47Speaker 4: it's purple snakes. And she's like, yeah, I that two
- 20:50Speaker 4: is so weird. Rape snakes, rape snakes? And what is
- 20:56Speaker 4: your favorite flavor of lolly? Mine's purple? Purple orange? And
- 21:02Speaker 4: what's always the flavor left in the in the bag
- 21:04Speaker 4: when you're like, what's the one you always leave behind you?
- 21:06Speaker 4: I'm not gonna eat these and put them in the bin.
- 21:08Speaker 4: Is it yellow?
- 21:08Speaker 2: Well?
- 21:08Speaker 1: I certainly won't no, no, I might be a green guy.
- 21:13Speaker 4: We're always green and yellow, always the last two left
- 21:15Speaker 4: in the bag. Yeah, yeah, green and gold to show
- 21:17Speaker 4: it's always green and gold, red, purple, orange, there might
- 21:20Speaker 4: go to.
- 21:20Speaker 1: When it comes to snakes, we're not throwing any lollies
- 21:22Speaker 1: in the bin. We do.
- 21:23Speaker 4: I always want to eat yeow. I'd rather throw the bin.
- 21:26Speaker 1: Leave them out in the postbox. I'll go and come

- 22:51Speaker 4: of O Brother Where bart Thow was December thirteenth, two
- 22:54Speaker 4: thousand and nine. Was coming out in the box office
- 22:56Speaker 4: two thousand and nine. As a Davis any idea? I
- 22:58Speaker 4: have no idea? What was yours? Yours was twenty ten,
- 23:01Speaker 4: wasn't it when you gave up knowing what year was
- 23:03Speaker 4: what the movies there was probably two thousand and eight,
- 23:06Speaker 4: was it? Yeah? All right, yeah, so the number one
- 23:09Speaker 4: film at the box office at this point was number
- 23:12Speaker 4: three was Invictus.
- 23:13Speaker 1: Oh yeah, that's the one about the South African rugby team.
- 23:18Speaker 1: And it's got to do with Nelson Mandela as well.
- 23:20Speaker 1: I think orgn Freeman is Mandela.
- 23:22Speaker 4: Yep. That Damon puts in and seeth African accent. He tries,
- 23:26Speaker 4: he tries, keep trying, Maddy. It's one of the weird
- 23:29Speaker 4: accents where you think it should be easy to take
- 23:30Speaker 4: the mickey or not to parody to do, but it's
- 23:33Speaker 4: just you can't. They sound very much, said me. I mean,
- 23:35Speaker 4: I just excel at every accent and impression that I tried.
- 23:38Speaker 4: It sounds so similar to New Zealand as well, and
- 23:40Speaker 4: it almost sounds like when they're trying to do they
- 23:43Speaker 4: try to do South African and they do Australian, like
- 23:45Speaker 4: what they try to do Australia, they're doing South African.
- 23:47Speaker 4: You're like, I know, they sound similar, but they're also
- 23:49Speaker 4: very different. They are. Indeed. Yeah. Number two was The
- 23:52Speaker 4: blind Side, Ah, and number one from number fifteen all
- 23:56Speaker 4: the way to number one, the Princess and the Frog.
- 24:00Speaker 1: Oh the Disney one.
- 24:01Speaker 4: Yes, the last hand animated Disney film correct released. Yeah,
- 24:05Speaker 4: what a chat? Yeah? Anyway, all right, So the original ed,
- 24:09Speaker 4: as we said, was Yeah, December thirteen, two thousand and nine,
- 24:11Speaker 4: written by Matt Salmon and directed by Stephen Dean Moore.
- 24:15Speaker 4: Lots of guest stars. So we've got the Smothers brothers,
- 24:17Speaker 4: we've got the Manning brothers. We've got Jordan as we'll
- 24:19Speaker 4: just touching on as Charlie. And we've got oh, hughl Houser.
- 24:22Speaker 4: I see who's he? Which one is he?
- 24:25Speaker 1: They are watching his show at the very start? Marc's note, Okay,
- 24:29Speaker 1: who is hul Hauser? I just thought it was just
- 24:32Speaker 1: a made up since this cast. No, no, no, no,
- 24:34Speaker 1: I've gone to Wikipedia. Huell is no longer with us.
- 24:36Speaker 1: He passed away January seven, twenty thirteen. But he was
- 24:38Speaker 1: an American TV personality, actor, producer, writer, singer and voice artists.
- 24:42Speaker 1: All Rounder is indeed best known for hosting, producing, and
- 24:46Speaker 1: writing California's Gold and his Human Interest show Visiting with
- 24:51Speaker 1: hughle Houser. Yeah, he's just one of those sort of
- 24:53Speaker 1: all rounder guys who were just you know, did a
- 24:56Speaker 1: bunch of stuff and was on your TV and your
- 24:58Speaker 1: radio for goodness knows how long.
- 25:00Speaker 4: Just one of those guys is just always there. Yeah, yeah,
- 25:03Speaker 4: and no, when he's up there and you're like, well,
- 25:04Speaker 4: where's he going, you're like, oh, hey, passed away.
- 25:06Speaker 1: You're in Australia and you're watching a show like say
- 25:08Speaker 1: get Away Postcards.
- 25:11Speaker 4: It's like and he didn't go.
- 25:12Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, you did this for a while. And now
- 25:15Speaker 1: they've got a they're a very friendly, affable person. They've
- 25:18Speaker 1: got a nice cushy gig, you know, sort of going down.
- 25:21Speaker 1: Well today we're down the morning to Ninsula.
- 25:23Speaker 4: But the cash gag, kid, there's no chalkboard game, the
- 25:25Speaker 4: cash gays living room furniture is dwanging disco music until
- 25:27Speaker 4: the Simpsons come in. How many yells? Hey? The furniture
- 25:29Speaker 4: returns to a normal spot and the Simpson sit on
- 25:31Speaker 4: the couch. But the sign gag was there was none?
- 25:34Speaker 4: There was none? That true question. The episode kicks off
- 25:41Speaker 4: with Homer and Lisa watching Under the Wrapper with Cuel
- 25:45Speaker 4: hue Houser's es special on how they how they make
- 25:48Speaker 4: gum drops and explain that's made of gelatin, which is
- 25:50Speaker 4: the skin bones, and who's of the sickest horses which ain't. Yeah, lyon, No,
- 25:54Speaker 4: gelatin is made of the less of parts of animals. Yeah,
- 25:57Speaker 4: talking about lollies makes you not want to lollies anymore? Right,
- 26:00Speaker 4: not even grape flavor, not grape snakes.
- 26:03Speaker 2: No not.
- 26:03Speaker 4: Indeed, Lisa asked them to change it because I just
- 26:05Speaker 4: want to see the horses being turned into the lollies.
- 26:07Speaker 4: But he increases the volume, then changes it to the
- 26:09Speaker 4: Creative Arts Emmys, and it's just them taking Micky out
- 26:12Speaker 4: the Emmys week again and also.
- 26:13Speaker 1: The Creative Arts Emiges, which is kind of the ones
- 26:15Speaker 1: like these are the ones that are too boring to
- 26:17Speaker 1: put on the star studded Yeah, actual coverage, yep. And
- 26:21Speaker 1: so they go back to the Oscars does as well,
- 26:22Speaker 1: which is weird because they do they're like their honorary Oscars,
- 26:25Speaker 1: but they don't do they they aren't broadcast or anything.
- 26:27Speaker 1: And like this year they gave it to Tom Cruise.
- 26:29Speaker 1: It's like, why is that not on television?
- 26:31Speaker 4: Why is this not on TV? Who's gon to be
- 26:33Speaker 4: sitting down in front of the TV and watching this?
- 26:35Speaker 1: Well, that's the thing. I mean, apparently the Oscars are
- 26:38Speaker 1: now going to be shown on YouTube as opposed to.
- 26:41Speaker 4: Because people just watching YouTube on the tivvy.
- 26:43Speaker 1: Oh yeah, and YouTube's probably bigger than TV these days.
- 26:46Speaker 4: I used to be Monday, avoid everything on Monday so
- 26:49Speaker 4: you don't find it. The newson Who Are the Best? Oscar?
- 26:50Speaker 4: And you can watch the Academy was on Monday night.
- 26:52Speaker 1: I still have a friend who does that. Yeah, was like,
- 26:54Speaker 1: don't tell me anything. It's like you're really there to
- 26:56Speaker 1: watch it tonight.
- 26:58Speaker 4: Just a tradition. Yeah, but they still put it on television,
- 27:01Speaker 4: the replay of the old delayed telecast. I don't know,
- 27:04Speaker 4: maybe I feel like this isn't the Oscars just moments
- 27:06Speaker 4: Now every just skims through social media, just bits and bits. Yeah,
- 27:09Speaker 4: don't ever watched the speeches anymore. It's just giving through
- 27:11Speaker 4: who won? Who won? Ye, I'm done, moving on till
- 27:14Speaker 4: next year. But it's snowing outside now, and Homer says
- 27:16Speaker 4: tomorrow is going to shovel away the global warming, And
- 27:19Speaker 4: we're saying earlier, how this just turns into a real passionizing, sarcastic,
- 27:24Speaker 4: tirated for no reason.
- 27:25Speaker 1: Really, Yeah, and I mean it's it's ripe with possibility
- 27:29Speaker 1: because you know home is just this traditional kind of like, well,
- 27:32Speaker 1: he's either well, weathers always changed, global warming is a
- 27:35Speaker 1: myth blah blah blah, or someone who gets his opinions
- 27:39Speaker 1: from the latest influencer or pundit or whatever, and least
- 27:44Speaker 1: is actually sort of informed, actually have them having a
- 27:47Speaker 1: proper discussion about it, but in a funny way. But
- 27:51Speaker 1: instead it's just this, it's just home as sort of friends,
- 27:55Speaker 1: really dirty.
- 27:56Speaker 5: Dirty dirdy, Like tomorrow I'll be shoveling ten feet of
- 28:02Speaker 5: global warming.
- 28:04Speaker 2: Global warming because weather at both extremes hot and cold.
- 28:09Speaker 5: See so you're saying warming makes it colder, Well aren't
- 28:13Speaker 5: You're the queen of crazy Land. Everything's the opposite of everything.
- 28:18Speaker 4: I used to SIPs.
- 28:22Speaker 2: Really no, no.
- 28:28Speaker 4: The next day, the bulls are using the nerds as
- 28:30Speaker 4: a sleigh or to pull their sleigh. Sorry, Bart's listening
- 28:33Speaker 4: to the school closures and I'm watching this going if
- 28:36Speaker 4: they fucking say the sproof of Elementary is the only
- 28:39Speaker 4: one open, I'm like, we just watched the kids just
- 28:40Speaker 4: watch an episode called Skinner Sense of Snow, which we
- 28:42Speaker 4: reviewed back in last season thirteen, where the kids get
- 28:44Speaker 4: snowed in because the school was the only one open.
- 28:46Speaker 4: I'm like, if they retread this story, I'm not gonna
- 28:49Speaker 4: be happy. But no they don't. It turns out it's
- 28:51Speaker 4: just Charmers and Skinner, who apparently are now on KBBL
- 28:53Speaker 4: reading it out. Yeah it's not just like, why would
- 28:56Speaker 4: they be going in? I don't know. I just as
- 28:58Speaker 4: I said, just a screw with bar And then Skinner
- 29:00Speaker 4: tries to make a joke and Charmer's yells at him
- 29:02Speaker 4: and that's that, and that's that. Yeah, anyway, I think
- 29:06Speaker 4: he makes a Springfield elbow. Maconi factory is closed, who knows,
- 29:11Speaker 4: but then goes to leave, but the wink is blowing
- 29:13Speaker 4: him back inside, blows the stairs and blows him on
- 29:15Speaker 4: to the catch with a maths book in his hand,
- 29:18Speaker 4: and then he decides he's not going to do that.
- 29:19Speaker 4: He goes to his bedroom to play the Iceman Killeth
- 29:22Speaker 4: in bed and I don't want to right, they care
- 29:24Speaker 4: it And then there's a blackout and Marge explains that
- 29:28Speaker 4: nothing works. TV doesn't work, DVD players don't work.
- 29:30Speaker 1: Well, you don't explain to it. He's like, well, I'm
- 29:33Speaker 1: going to try.
- 29:33Speaker 4: There's going to try this, and yeah, none of them
- 29:35Speaker 4: work because there's more to that story of a blackout.
- 29:38Speaker 4: Springfield during a blackout is fun? How about kids? Because
- 29:42Speaker 4: I guess now we have portable charges wan, But in
- 29:44Speaker 4: the nineties when I was a blackout, you were fucked.
- 29:46Speaker 4: You were blacked out. You had candles.
- 29:48Speaker 1: You had to break out the candles and the books.
- 29:49Speaker 4: Yeah. Now or actually talk to people, yeah, actually try
- 29:53Speaker 4: and you know, enjoy each other's company. But he tries to.
- 29:56Speaker 4: I didn't mind there trying to static electricity, rubbing his
- 29:59Speaker 4: head on Luna and touching it, and then the TV
- 30:02Speaker 4: turns off and on I've got him on. Note, so
- 30:04Speaker 4: old TVs used to actually shock you. Did you ever
- 30:06Speaker 4: touch a TV as well? Yeah? And I'm like I
- 30:08Speaker 4: turn that TV on the other day and it shocked me,
- 30:10Speaker 4: and I was like I trusted you. Yeah. But Lisa
- 30:15Speaker 4: and Maggie and now doing a fashion show in their
- 30:16Speaker 4: bedroom and bars like, I actually just want to play
- 30:18Speaker 4: with you guys. So he goes to get dressed up
- 30:21Speaker 4: by Twizzler, the vesters by Nelson, and the pants by
- 30:24Speaker 4: Hallo Kitty, which he thought was Spidery Man heads on
- 30:26Speaker 4: his pants who takes them off, and Lisa says, you're
- 30:28Speaker 4: just envious about sisterhood that you won't ever have you
- 30:31Speaker 4: went because you don't have a brother, And I went,
- 30:32Speaker 4: where did they come from? It's as where on earth
- 30:35Speaker 4: did this come from? This hatred just annoying. Yeah, it's
- 30:39Speaker 4: the thing.
- 30:39Speaker 1: I mean, I don't know if it's the way it's
- 30:41Speaker 1: written or the way that Yardley Smith is delivering it,
- 30:44Speaker 1: but yeah, I mean she's coming across a spiteful Yeah.
- 30:47Speaker 4: I mean they used to be.
- 30:49Speaker 1: Oh, there used to be a time well, but it
- 30:51Speaker 1: seemed there was a time when if Lisa was kind
- 30:54Speaker 1: of doing that.
- 30:55Speaker 4: I mean she would poke fun at bar antagonize each
- 30:58Speaker 4: other's brothers and sisters do sit there, but at the
- 31:00Speaker 4: end of the day they still liked each other.
- 31:02Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, I think it would have been interesting
- 31:05Speaker 1: or sort of more. It would have made a more
- 31:08Speaker 1: emotional sense, if you know, Lisa realizes at some stage, Oh,
- 31:12Speaker 1: I sent Bart down a bit of an emotional rabbit
- 31:15Speaker 1: hole here by pointing out that he doesn't have a brother.
- 31:18Speaker 1: I didn't think I heard him this badly, or I
- 31:19Speaker 1: didn't think would affect him to this degree.
- 31:23Speaker 4: But no, but no, but it says I don't care
- 31:26Speaker 4: about this and not bothered by the fact they don't
- 31:28Speaker 4: have a brother at all. Then Lisa and Maggie reading
- 31:30Speaker 4: the pop up book together and Bart's watching on really
- 31:32Speaker 4: really sad, and he has the dream, this dream about
- 31:35Speaker 4: the brothers. This was waste. Like two minutes of the episode.
- 31:37Speaker 4: He comes across the Blues Brothers. I don't mind that
- 31:41Speaker 4: puts the Blues Brothers, Mario Brothers.
- 31:43Speaker 1: Brothers, Blues Brothers, Mario brothers. I don't have the Smyth
- 31:47Speaker 1: brothers and their colts.
- 31:47Speaker 4: That was real. But Bob and Cecil, they're such a
- 31:50Speaker 4: Bob and Cecil are the right brothers. End it there,
- 31:53Speaker 4: But no, we're going to cram in some guest stars.
- 31:54Speaker 4: And he sees the Maning Brothers who just go on
- 31:56Speaker 4: and on, and then the Smothers brothers just go on.
- 31:59Speaker 1: Yeah, like I said, if you want to pay a
- 32:01Speaker 1: tribute to send me commity heroes, Bo means do so,
- 32:04Speaker 1: but he can't subject us to it.
- 32:06Speaker 4: Oh man, this went over too long and it wasn't funny.
- 32:09Speaker 4: It was just I was like, what is this? But
- 32:11Speaker 4: Bat wakes up wanting a brother, and then Lisa walks
- 32:14Speaker 4: Bay says, you can have mine because he's kind of
- 32:15Speaker 4: an idiot, and I was like, hey, stopping, So there's
- 32:20Speaker 4: no reason for this.
- 32:21Speaker 2: You know bad.
- 32:23Speaker 5: I want a baby brother, h and I love you kids,
- 32:27Speaker 5: but I'm only going to the hospital one more time
- 32:29Speaker 5: in my life and I ain't coming out.
- 32:31Speaker 2: Lisa got a sister, Why can't you have another boy?
- 32:33Speaker 5: Girls are easy, Girls love daddy. Girls make birthday cards
- 32:38Speaker 5: with glitter on them. Girls can marry a hockey player
- 32:40Speaker 5: and get me seats to hockey games. Girls don't steal
- 32:43Speaker 5: my knife. And I don't have to tell girls how
- 32:46Speaker 5: their bodies work because I don't know.
- 32:49Speaker 2: He never told me how my body works.
- 32:51Speaker 5: Point and shoot.
- 32:53Speaker 4: Then it cuts to the boys at the bus stop,
- 32:55Speaker 4: which is just like South Park, And I've already touched
- 32:57Speaker 4: on this and there's just nothing to it. No, I
- 32:59Speaker 4: don't understand.
- 33:00Speaker 1: It's a pointless visual reference that there has no bearing
- 33:03Speaker 1: on the story.
- 33:04Speaker 4: No, you could literally take this out of the episode
- 33:06Speaker 4: and it would affect nothing. It's so bizarre. Homer then
- 33:10Speaker 4: gets home smelling terragon crusted Atlantic salmon, which but has cooked,
- 33:14Speaker 4: but my margins looking looking all sexy. Inery barter Ha's
- 33:17Speaker 4: cook them a five course meal of romantic dinner, and
- 33:19Speaker 4: Homer says, you had me at five course, lost me
- 33:21Speaker 4: it romantic and got me back with the dinner, which
- 33:22Speaker 4: I thought was quite but that was a funny gag.
- 33:24Speaker 4: Then he obvious the passion fruits to flay for dessert,
- 33:27Speaker 4: and they're gonna make the decision, as we're touching on earlier,
- 33:28Speaker 4: eat dessert or make love, like, yeah, we can eat desert.
- 33:31Speaker 4: First cuts to them just in bed. No, we couldn't
- 33:34Speaker 4: do both, and Butter's annoyed by this. Then Millhouse shows
- 33:39Speaker 4: but they put in the DVD that Millhouse's parents used
- 33:41Speaker 4: to make him, so it kind of works. It's the
- 33:43Speaker 4: Karma Suture DVD, and homer Image tried to use it,
- 33:47Speaker 4: but unfortunately it doesn't go to plan, does it.
- 33:49Speaker 1: Well, No, they I'm not sure if they are. They
- 33:52Speaker 1: tried congress with the crow, although personally I'm a yawning
- 33:54Speaker 1: monkey kind of guy. Yeah, and just end up sprained
- 33:59Speaker 1: and strained.
- 34:00Speaker 4: Yeah, broken at breakfast. Yeah, Indeed. The thing is, though
- 34:02Speaker 4: I'm watching his going, I know that the timeline is
- 34:05Speaker 4: very all over the place, but DVD, he's really a
- 34:08Speaker 4: thing when Milhouse was being conceived. Good point, if we're going,
- 34:14Speaker 4: I know we're going back in this, I know if
- 34:17Speaker 4: the timeline is now yeah, what does.
- 34:21Speaker 1: Our pal always say?
- 34:23Speaker 4: And this was written by.
- 34:27Speaker 1: The patrons, saying with the timeline, but.
- 34:31Speaker 4: Goes to the bullies and he wants them to work.
- 34:34Speaker 4: Is it work out a way to give him a
- 34:36Speaker 4: brother something?
- 34:37Speaker 2: Yeah? What? Yeah?
- 34:38Speaker 4: Why would they know? I can't remember anyway, but they
- 34:41Speaker 4: mentioned the pill. It's a pill. It's what doctors give
- 34:43Speaker 4: mums to keep babies in heaven, which is a funny
- 34:45Speaker 4: also very depressing line.
- 34:47Speaker 2: True.
- 34:48Speaker 4: And then he's who's the person that you would go
- 34:51Speaker 4: to who has a lot of kids? Is that Pooh?
- 34:53Speaker 1: Is he in the show at the stage.
- 34:55Speaker 4: Or does he ask them how to make a kid?
- 34:57Speaker 4: I don't know who cares anyway.
- 34:59Speaker 1: Well, you need one of those moments where it's kind
- 35:01Speaker 1: of like, well, who knows about you know, who knows
- 35:04Speaker 1: everything about sex?
- 35:05Speaker 4: And reproductions? The older goods greater? Yeah, that's what does work. Yeah,
- 35:11Speaker 4: But then they explained the pill. You gotta get rid
- 35:12Speaker 4: of the pill. So but then swaps them for tactics,
- 35:15Speaker 4: not tic TACs, tactics. I thought it was just tiktas,
- 35:17Speaker 4: but his tactics apparently he throws me out the window
- 35:20Speaker 4: and Nelson picks them up because he throws out because
- 35:22Speaker 4: he gets shocked when Marge catches him, and she says
- 35:24Speaker 4: three we think three kids are perfect and he says that,
- 35:26Speaker 4: don't worry, I'll take care of it if you have
- 35:28Speaker 4: ever boy, and she explains, well, if I have one,
- 35:30Speaker 4: though it might be another book, another girl might have
- 35:32Speaker 4: another sister. And we have him in visualizing visualizing sorry,
- 35:36Speaker 4: the Sex and the City kind of with he's carrying
- 35:39Speaker 4: all their shop shopping their three Lisa, Maggie, and the
- 35:42Speaker 4: new sister apparently all bitches, very Sex and the City style, yes,
- 35:46Speaker 4: and he's looking all their shopping.
- 35:47Speaker 1: Around Sex in the City van clearly.
- 35:49Speaker 4: I loved that at the time, and then I sort
- 35:52Speaker 4: of watched a bit of it recently and I was like, ah, yeah,
- 35:55Speaker 4: this show is just very much. I don't know, it's
- 35:58Speaker 4: very I think.
- 35:58Speaker 1: The best comment I've heard about Sex in the City
- 36:01Speaker 1: was all these women are actually gay men.
- 36:03Speaker 4: Yeah, I can buy that.
- 36:06Speaker 1: Yeah, as I don't think I don't think. I mean
- 36:08Speaker 1: it's created well, it's based on them, look right, yeah,
- 36:11Speaker 1: based on the woman a book written by woman Tennis Bushnel.
- 36:14Speaker 1: But I mean I think it's actually created by by
- 36:17Speaker 1: a gay man. I think a lot of the writing
- 36:19Speaker 1: stuff are actually gay dudes.
- 36:20Speaker 4: It makes sense. Yeah, but Back goes to the orphanage
- 36:22Speaker 4: now because he realizes that maybe he doesn't want to
- 36:24Speaker 4: have the chance of another sister.
- 36:27Speaker 2: One boy to go, please easy on the freckles, a.
- 36:29Speaker 4: Ten year old kid adopted child.
- 36:32Speaker 2: Oh you think he's for me? You know? The orphan
- 36:36Speaker 2: is for my folks. They can't have more kids. It
- 36:39Speaker 2: is so sad, A real life jobs bit off. My
- 36:42Speaker 2: dad's wiener. Come on, it'd be an awesome big brother.
- 36:46Speaker 2: I've got video games, a treehouse, a garage up to
- 36:49Speaker 2: the rafters with illegal fireworks.
- 36:53Speaker 5: Oh sweet Mersham, take me away.
- 36:58Speaker 4: Uh oh, I'm sorry, it's not gonna happen.
- 37:01Speaker 2: Give my brother everything I have. He could be a
- 37:03Speaker 2: race car and Monopoly Monopoly the race car.
- 37:10Speaker 4: And they throw him out. But a boy overhears who
- 37:12Speaker 4: we learned to be Charlie. He wakes up Bart with
- 37:17Speaker 4: yeah face or something.
- 37:19Speaker 1: I don't know if it's either shaving cream or ready whip.
- 37:21Speaker 4: I guess he escaped as Bart was leaving because the
- 37:24Speaker 4: house a would you know where they lived? Correct? So incorrect.
- 37:29Speaker 4: He explains to Bart that he's shimmy.
- 37:31Speaker 1: See here's there's another missed opportunity. I mean, yeah, cut
- 37:34Speaker 1: out that bullshit South Bar gag and have Bart walking
- 37:37Speaker 1: home and you can see like he's being shadowed.
- 37:40Speaker 4: Yeah by Charlie.
- 37:42Speaker 1: That explained first all man could be a fun little
- 37:45Speaker 1: visual bit, and secondly explains why he knows where Bart lives.
- 37:49Speaker 4: But no, we've got to have a promo about South Park,
- 37:52Speaker 4: so people think that a little bit the promos. But
- 37:55Speaker 4: Charlie says, he shitting down a drain pipe just like
- 37:57Speaker 4: Bar would. They have a lot in common. It's your
- 37:59Speaker 4: favorite beatle dung like that. He says, nobody adopted him.
- 38:03Speaker 4: Any want babies, I've got one of those and they're overrated.
- 38:05Speaker 4: And this is where he cuts to Maggie and she's
- 38:07Speaker 4: been nice to him. He's like, shot it somewhere else
- 38:09Speaker 4: this stuff. Then he introduces Charlie to Homer.
- 38:12Speaker 1: I'm doing a lot of heavy lifting on behalf of
- 38:14Speaker 1: the episode. That bit where he's sort of dissing Maggie
- 38:19Speaker 1: a little bit. If I'm being generous, that could be
- 38:22Speaker 1: but trying to impress his new younger brother by being
- 38:25Speaker 1: sort of like, yeah, I'm cool and I don't care
- 38:28Speaker 1: and all this kind of stuff. It's and it's boys
- 38:31Speaker 1: against girls and you know, us against the world.
- 38:33Speaker 4: And how young is Charlie. I have no idea because
- 38:36Speaker 4: Pat's ten. He doesn't seem that much younger, right, probably
- 38:40Speaker 4: eight maybe anyway, So they interested Charlie to Homer and
- 38:45Speaker 4: home no glasses, way to go not a Millhouse. That
- 38:48Speaker 4: was actually that was kind.
- 38:50Speaker 1: Of funny and yeah, it would tie into the one out.
- 38:52Speaker 4: Yes, yes, and then he shows him off at school.
- 38:54Speaker 4: Millhouse is confused, what do you mean? He says he
- 38:57Speaker 4: was born with two noses? So we h him away
- 38:59Speaker 4: UNTI week and fort Hey get and cut off and
- 39:00Speaker 4: then Nelson starts crying all emotional because he's having the
- 39:03Speaker 4: tactics and he's now an emotional woman apparently, yes, and
- 39:06Speaker 4: he says you deserve good things, and then he eats
- 39:08Speaker 4: another pill. Then Charlie and Bart are hanging out. They're
- 39:11Speaker 4: poking dead animals. They're doorbelling Skinner to the quicking mart.
- 39:14Speaker 4: And then Lisa arrives and Peo says, what's it like
- 39:17Speaker 4: showing a bathroom with two brothers?
- 39:18Speaker 2: Now?
- 39:18Speaker 4: She says, what do you mean two brothers? And she
- 39:19Speaker 4: says you have to take him back, which he doesn't
- 39:22Speaker 4: atually explain where he's going from. So how the fuck
- 39:24Speaker 4: does she know he's an all correct? Yeah, all this
- 39:27Speaker 4: is just like it's a bunch of stuff that does
- 39:30Speaker 4: a bunch of stuff happening. Yeah, barthy, you're just jealous
- 39:33Speaker 4: because we're dudes with toods.
- 39:35Speaker 1: Oh boy, that that feels like a very nineteen ninety.
- 39:37Speaker 4: Something line gives them a not very very blast.
- 39:41Speaker 1: No, it's not even a nineteen it's what you get
- 39:44Speaker 1: on a Bart Simpson knockoff t shirt. Yeah, nineteen ninety two.
- 39:48Speaker 4: Where dudes with tuds, dude with tude.
- 39:51Speaker 1: And yeah, sort of looking out for a sunglasses. It's
- 39:54Speaker 1: like here he goes, son, I know you're like Bart Simpson.
- 39:57Speaker 4: Okay, it's from the Sunday Market.
- 39:59Speaker 1: Merry Christmas, you got me? Oh yeah, and this it
- 40:06Speaker 1: becomes your wipe up brag.
- 40:08Speaker 4: Then he gives who gives them a not very very
- 40:11Speaker 4: blast to calm down. Then they go buy tickets. What's
- 40:15Speaker 4: the candy? Is it not on?
- 40:16Speaker 1: Not in candy which is not gotten?
- 40:18Speaker 4: Yes, can. Then they go to buy tickets for seven five,
- 40:21Speaker 4: which is a parody of Sore five. By buy tickets
- 40:23Speaker 4: for Divesty Kittens, which was an actual thing that people did.
- 40:26Speaker 4: Like For the South Park movie, they say the box
- 40:28Speaker 4: office wasn't as big because people would go and buy
- 40:29Speaker 4: tickets for Stuart Little instead of going to watch and
- 40:32Speaker 4: then go and watch South Park.
- 40:34Speaker 1: Well, there's a reason that the Denzel Washington Bruce Willis
- 40:37Speaker 1: war movie The Siege was so popular. It had the
- 40:40Speaker 1: trailer for Phantom Menace before it, true, and.
- 40:43Speaker 4: That was a thing. Yeah, you couldn't just put them
- 40:45Speaker 4: on YouTube. Great. Did you ever go to a movie
- 40:47Speaker 4: just to watch a trailer?
- 40:48Speaker 1: Uh No, but there would be times that I would
- 40:50Speaker 1: rend the a because I knew it.
- 40:51Speaker 4: Had cool trailers on. Really. Yeah, we discussed recently. That's cool.
- 40:54Speaker 4: I've got over there. It's like, sometimes it's fun just
- 40:56Speaker 4: watching the trailers. Absolutely. They then watched the film and
- 40:59Speaker 4: but it explains you think it's based on the on
- 41:02Speaker 4: the previous said.
- 41:03Speaker 1: Before, but it's actually no, it's a tribute to the
- 41:05Speaker 1: rich history of Hong Kong torture films. I've never appreciated
- 41:07Speaker 1: bart More.
- 41:09Speaker 4: Charlie is terrified of this, but of course because it's
- 41:11Speaker 4: sore and they're scary and gruesome. Oh yeah, yeah, But realizes,
- 41:14Speaker 4: oh wait a minute, being an older brothers a lot
- 41:16Speaker 4: more responsible than I thought. And then he thinks hears
- 41:18Speaker 4: the Boogeyman on the way home. The Wigham comes out
- 41:20Speaker 4: screaming boog boo boo boo boy, because why don't explain
- 41:23Speaker 4: why he says that he just does that? Why is
- 41:26Speaker 4: he saying boogy boo boo boy?
- 41:28Speaker 1: I don't know, I don't know.
- 41:29Speaker 4: Man. We come back from commercial now. He tells Bart
- 41:33Speaker 4: to step away from the orphan, give him no more love,
- 41:36Speaker 4: and Charlie asks to be taken back home because he
- 41:38Speaker 4: made him watch his scary movie. But in actual fact,
- 41:40Speaker 4: he was just taking pepper straight out of his pocket
- 41:42Speaker 4: and he sprays it into Wigham's eyes. So why was
- 41:46Speaker 4: Wigham taking the aw back away from? But does he
- 41:49Speaker 4: know the orphan? You know he's an orphan.
- 41:51Speaker 1: I don't know what's what's going on here? What's happening?
- 41:56Speaker 4: What is it? Oh my goodness to Nelson. Sorry Nelson,
- 42:01Speaker 4: I'm sorry. I didn't see you know. What do you
- 42:03Speaker 4: mean you didn't see me?
- 42:04Speaker 1: Nobody sees me as imagine because.

- 42:35Speaker 4: what you're good at. Then they dig a tunnel in
- 42:37Speaker 4: the snow and they're going to hide the same way
- 42:40Speaker 4: Eskimos hide from penguins. Was what I don't know they're hiding.
- 42:46Speaker 4: We're almost there. They think that they're alone, but unfortunately
- 42:50Speaker 4: Lisa is there as well, because why yeah.
- 42:54Speaker 1: They haven't tig it in and why is that place
- 42:56Speaker 1: now closed off? What's going on?
- 42:58Speaker 4: No, No, it's not closed off yet because the plow
- 43:01Speaker 4: King hasn't arrived here because you know, remember the plower King.
- 43:03Speaker 4: That was a nostalgia reference. Hey, the plot kings arrived
- 43:05Speaker 4: and he plows because you've.
- 43:07Speaker 1: Totally forgotten about the plower King until liz Berry moment.
- 43:09Speaker 4: So she says, you've got a decision to make. Is
- 43:11Speaker 4: it going to be me or is it going to
- 43:12Speaker 4: be him? Because you're got to make it otherwise are
- 43:14Speaker 4: going to be locked in here forever with the snow,
- 43:16Speaker 4: That's what she says. Excuse me, she says that, because
- 43:19Speaker 4: she says, you need to turn him in yourself. Ren't
- 43:21Speaker 4: get out of here. We're going to be locked in
- 43:23Speaker 4: here because the plower King's arriving, and then he does it,
- 43:27Speaker 4: and because she tries, they try to draw emotion here
- 43:29Speaker 4: by saying you want to have a brother, but you'll
- 43:31Speaker 4: always be my big brother. It's like you've been reading
- 43:34Speaker 4: it and yelling at him and call him ship for
- 43:36Speaker 4: the whole episode. You quite the said, why would he
- 43:39Speaker 4: want to be your big brother?
- 43:40Speaker 1: You just haven't earned it yet, baby, Why would he want.
- 43:42Speaker 4: To be your big brother? What did they fucking forget?
- 43:44Speaker 4: Everything that had her say up until his point is
- 43:46Speaker 4: so stupid? Anyway, But the plower King arrived and he
- 43:50Speaker 4: comes the hole with snow, and she says that it's
- 43:53Speaker 4: too long to make the obvious decision. So then they go,
- 43:56Speaker 4: it's okay, we've learnt one thing. Let's point and shoot
- 43:59Speaker 4: one thing that girls can never do, and they escape
- 44:01Speaker 4: because they piss on the snow and they walk out
- 44:03Speaker 4: because it melts it and great, yeah, that's the end
- 44:08Speaker 4: of that one. So we're back at the orphanage now
- 44:10Speaker 4: and they go to we got a visit Charlie and Charlie,
- 44:12Speaker 4: you know, adopted, go to visit him and unfortunately it's
- 44:14Speaker 4: just been adopted by a family with six girls, and
- 44:16Speaker 4: he yells the bart to save him and he gets
- 44:19Speaker 4: driven away and that's the end of Charlie. Don't worry.
- 44:22Speaker 4: We'll go spend some quality father sometime. And they go
- 44:24Speaker 4: to watch seven five together. I must have been I
- 44:26Speaker 4: didn't mind home a sort of running commentary of Severn
- 44:29Speaker 4: five or whatever it was. That's so fake, Oh that's
- 44:31Speaker 4: so real, And I would.
- 44:36Speaker 1: Say that's the end of the episode. But we do
- 44:37Speaker 1: get more comedy. Stylings of Smothers brothers are over the
- 44:40Speaker 1: closing credits, and then Homer chimes in, does.
- 44:43Speaker 4: He what did he say? I turned it off? I
- 44:45Speaker 4: tapped down.
- 44:46Speaker 1: I don't remember, but it was it's actually not unfunny.
- 44:48Speaker 4: This wasn't like I mean, it wasn't a terrible episode.
- 44:51Speaker 4: So I'm watching this going, oh, this could be so
- 44:52Speaker 4: much better, and that's what's annoying about it.
- 44:54Speaker 1: Yeah, look, I understand where you're coming from. I'm gonna
- 44:57Speaker 1: disagree and say this was a terrible episode.
- 44:58Speaker 4: I'm sorry.
- 44:59Speaker 1: There were often episodes where it's kind of like I
- 45:01Speaker 1: didn't like it to begin with, but the more we discuss,
- 45:04Speaker 1: it's like, hey, there's some good bits in this, this, this, this,
- 45:06Speaker 1: and this was the inverse of that where it's kind
- 45:08Speaker 1: of like I won't say that I came and going, uh, yeah,
- 45:11Speaker 1: this is the worst. But the more I'm sort of
- 45:14Speaker 1: examining it, the more I'm going a lot wrong with this.
- 45:18Speaker 4: Good Yeah, no good, I'm disappointed, disappointed Salmon, Yeah, Matt,
- 45:22Speaker 4: I trusted you. What do we learn, Bomber? What did
- 45:27Speaker 4: you learn for the episode?
- 45:28Speaker 1: M that there are worst fates than being a one
- 45:31Speaker 1: armed drummer in a prison rock band, which is what
- 45:33Speaker 1: Charlie wanted to do. Is it's what Charlie viewed as
- 45:36Speaker 1: is like five year plan or when the fuck did
- 45:38Speaker 1: he say that? It's the line before dung Beetle, like
- 45:42Speaker 1: where do you see if it's where do you see
- 45:43Speaker 1: your seven twenty years on one? I'm drummer a prison
- 45:46Speaker 1: rock band.
- 45:47Speaker 4: Okay, I learned what's in grape snakes and I'm not
- 45:50Speaker 4: a fan. From this forward, your name will be It
