- 0:05MBR talk. Hey, thanks for supporting our
- 0:08channel by watching and listening find.
- 0:10Us on the web at MB radio dot. Welcome to Veteran Talk with
- 0:15Magic Mike, where what's important to you is important to
- 0:18us. Let's talk.
- 0:21I'm your host, Magic Mike, and today we're diving deep into
- 0:25something close to my heart, how sharing your story and getting
- 0:29behind the mic can be a powerful form of rehabilitation.
- 0:32Whether you're fresh out of service, years into civilian
- 0:35life, or somewhere in between, We've got a space for you here
- 0:39because everyone has a story, and broadcasting is how we tell
- 0:43it. And what's up everybody?
- 0:47Is your favorite guy here magic? Anyways, just wanted to touch
- 0:52base with everybody a little bit.
- 0:53I am doing great. I just got an e-mail.
- 0:55Hey man, haven't seen you. Whatever.
- 0:56I'm doing good a lot of like appointments and stuff going on.
- 1:00So bear with me. I'm going to be probably often
- 1:03that a couple as we're getting in October.
- 1:06I think I got another one and then whatever big, big things
- 1:10that I'm doing to to to heal. I guess I don't know without
- 1:15getting personal. But anyways, welcome to the show
- 1:17on Veterans talking military broadcast radio.
- 1:19If you're just joining us for the first time, veterans talk
- 1:24when we talk about things that are important to veterans.
- 1:26So I, I like reading my emails and getting up to date with my
- 1:29emails and talking with the people that do watch me out
- 1:31there. And that's kind of pretty cool.
- 1:34So thank you to everybody that wrote me.
- 1:37Somebody wrote me and said, hey, magic, I watch your show from
- 1:39time to time. Thank you so much for updating
- 1:41us on the Major Richard Star act.
- 1:42So huge thing going on with the Major Richard Star Act right
- 1:45now. It is it has a 218 votes to
- 1:52force it into a vote, if you will, right.
- 1:57So it it's complicated, I know, but it's it's good.
- 2:04It is good. I mean, it's a it's a good thing
- 2:06that's happening, right? So I mean don't, don't, I mean
- 2:09don't even it's, I don't know. I have no idea what just
- 2:38happened. Everything just went blank.
- 2:41So if you're joining us back, I don't know what happened.
- 2:43We just completely went live and then went offline.
- 2:46I don't know what happened. Anyway, if you're joining me and
- 2:49we got a reset, the Major Richard Star Act has a 218 votes
- 2:52that it needs to be forced or 218 signatures.
- 2:56It needs to be forced into a vote.
- 2:59Some people are saying it's it's going to be shot down because of
- 3:01the money issue. Others are saying, well, it has
- 3:03a 5050 chance. ChatGPT says one thing, the
- 3:06Internet says the other, you know, let's hope for the best.
- 3:10I mean, let's hope for the best. I think it's the taxation on
- 3:13the, you know, taxation on military combat related, forced
- 3:18to retire, combat related retirees.
- 3:21I think it's injustice that they're not getting paid their
- 3:23due, their due diligence, right? That they're taxed their money.
- 3:27They're offset one for one. So, yeah, it's been a, it's been
- 3:31quite interesting the last couple days, the news and
- 3:34everything else that's going on with, you know, the, the, the
- 3:40whole it's, it's difficult because it's like Iran and this
- 3:47and that and what's going on here And you know, it's, I don't
- 3:51know, it's, it's crazy. A lot of people are writing me.
- 3:55I'm just reading up to catch up some of the emails.
- 3:58You know, somebody had wrote me and said, Hey, do you let me
- 4:02find it real quick. I should have been a little bit
- 4:04better prepared. Michael, bite me.
- 4:08It is there it is right there. Got it.
- 4:13So somebody had wrote and said with everything that's going on,
- 4:16do you agree with it? It's not whether I agree with it
- 4:19or not. It's more of a conversational
- 4:23holy moly of what's going on. I think that that's the the real
- 4:28tough cookie, I guess, if you if you want to say that, But I
- 4:35think that what is going on right now with everything the
- 4:40world, I guess it is I I think that we need to do better as as
- 4:53a whole, the world as a whole. I think I'm just trying to, I'm
- 4:59trying to answer your e-mail without being political.
- 5:05You know, for somebody who, who goes into politics, right,
- 5:08whether they're a Congress person or senator or mayor or or
- 5:12whatever, I think that if they go into politics, they do not
- 5:16have a right to say that they hate this country.
- 5:21Or one politician said that the American flag is nothing more
- 5:25than something to wipe her hands with as a napkin.
- 5:29I mean, if you feel that so strong about America, the
- 5:32country in which you live in, then pack your bags and move
- 5:34somewhere else. I'm, I'm full on board with that
- 5:38because there's a bunch of people who served in the
- 5:40military who would beg to differ with you and would like to
- 5:46really challenge you on that, right?
- 5:48Because you're, you're, you're reaping the benefits of this
- 5:50country. But yet you want to, you know,
- 5:52we're not perfect. We're not a perfect country.
- 5:59You know, we have leaps and bounds and we have stumbles that
- 6:02we've taken. And you know, regardless of
- 6:04whether you think the current president is greatest thing in
- 6:06the world or the worst thing in the world is irrelevant because
- 6:11that's your own opinion. And we have a choice in four
- 6:13years to vote for a different 1. And in the next 4 years, if
- 6:17that's not a good choice, there's another four years and
- 6:19we can vote for another one. That's the greatest thing about
- 6:22a democracy. That's the greatest thing about
- 6:24a country in which you get to vote and you get to make the
- 6:27decisions. So you know that one politician
- 6:33that stood up there and said that the American flag was
- 6:35nothing more than something for her to wipe her hands on.
- 6:37I think anybody that chastises this country or talks smack
- 6:40about this country should have either their citizenship revoked
- 6:45immediately if they're naturalized citizenship, meaning
- 6:48if they weren't born here, they should have their citizenship
- 6:51revoked immediately and be sent back to whatever country they
- 6:54came from. Plain and simple.
- 6:57I mean, you literally in politics, you raise your right
- 6:59hand and take an oath to the Constitution of the United
- 7:01States. It doesn't matter whether you're
- 7:03a mayor or a congressman or a senator or the president United
- 7:07States, you raise your right hand and take an oath to the
- 7:09Constitution of the United States.
- 7:11And that oath that you take is to the United States.
- 7:15It's not to Israel, it's not to Palestine, it's not to Pakistan.
- 7:19It is to the United States of America.
- 7:22And I think that if you are in office and hold any kind of a
- 7:26political title, that you do not have a right to criticize the
- 7:35United States of America and call it names.
- 7:37I mean, you live here for goodness sake, you know.
- 7:40So anyway, that was my rant and and I hope I didn't upset a lot
- 7:43of people and everybody got all mad and and testy and stuff like
- 7:46that. But I do want to share something
- 7:48with you all. I thought it was pretty cool.
- 7:51Big shout out to my boy H train. I know he's been a little bit
- 7:54under the weather and everything like that.
- 7:55And again, if if you guys are out there watching for the first
- 7:58time, make a donation. It's a nonprofit.
- 8:01It goes to equipment like the mic I have the headset I have
- 8:04on. It goes to help other veterans
- 8:10get into broadcasting, podcasting, TV, television.
- 8:13And a lot of a lot of us have had offers at radio stations or
- 8:17have moved on to radio stations or have gotten great jobs and
- 8:21stuff like that. So it really is a great thing
- 8:26that military broadcast radio is doing.
- 8:29And we have so many different shows.
- 8:32I, I got off the phone with one of my old commanders a couple
- 8:35days ago and we talked for a good two hours on the phone and
- 8:39he enlight me to some great stuff.
- 8:40He has a book coming out. I'm going to have him on the
- 8:42show, I hope next week if he can swing it.
- 8:45I know H Train had him on his show.
- 8:47I'm going to continue to promote his book, his company, his
- 8:49ideas. He's a great leader and a great
- 8:53individual. And you know, this is what it's
- 8:56about. So if you, if you have a couple
- 8:58dollars, man, listen, a couple bucks is not a big deal, right?
- 9:02I mean, come on, we buy a McDonald's everyday, right?
- 9:04Skip a McDonald's and donate to military broadcast radio.
- 9:07It's very easy to donate. I just donated some dollars that
- 9:10I had laying around. And you know, it's a great
- 9:13organization. It helps keep the lights on in
- 9:15the studio. So it's a really good, good way
- 9:17to to give back to the military community.
- 9:21So I'm going to share something real quick.
- 9:23And it's pretty funny actually. So give me one second.
- 9:29There's that. Let me see here.
- 9:32There's that. And then I'm going to go here.
- 9:35And I thought this was really funny, so I'm going to share
- 9:38this with you guys. I'm logged in, I'm logged in.
- 9:40What's going on? I'm logged in.
- 9:42I don't know what's going on. I'm logged in.
- 9:44I'm logged in. I don't know what's going on.
- 9:50I'm logged in. I'm logged in.
- 9:54I don't know what's going on. Let's see this is crazy Can't
- 10:02get logged in. I'm logged in man.
- 10:04What's wrong with y'all? I'm right here looking at it.
- 10:07Don't don't update the password. Give me one second.
- 10:09I'm going to try to get this. It's not Let me log in and I'm
- 10:14in. Oh you know what there's there's
- 10:17more than one way to skin a cat. You ever heard of that saying So
- 10:21here we go right here. Give me one second.
- 10:26Yeah. Got it.
- 10:27Yeah. See, there's more than one way
- 10:28to skin a cat, guys. I mean, sometimes you got to
- 10:31skin it twice. But I know I'm going to.
- 10:34I know I'm going to lose viewers because there are cats out
- 10:36there. I'm OK with that.
- 10:39So here we go. You all ready for this?
- 10:40This. I hope I can get it up here.
- 10:42Where is it at? I don't know if that's there or
- 10:50if that's over here, but we'll see.
- 10:57This is bad. This is really bad.
- 10:59Don't judge. This is up.
- 11:00Don't judge. You ain't allowed to judge on
- 11:03here. Size PDFs.
- 11:08I'm trying. I'm trying to figure this out
- 11:10man. I'm usually pretty good at this,
- 11:11but anyway, I'll get it added to the stage.
- 11:15Give me a second. Just got to figure out where
- 11:17it's at. I don't think it's there.
- 11:31It is right here. All right, let me try this one
- 11:34more time. Share screen.
- 11:37Present invite Share screen. Instagram message.
- 11:41Nope. That's not it was new.
- 11:43That's not it. I can't.
- 11:47I can't find it. I think that's it.
- 11:51Yeah, that's it. I got it.
- 11:54I think I got it. I think, I think I got it.
- 11:56I think I got it. I think.
- 11:57I think I got it. There it is.
- 11:58Right there. Is that it?
- 12:09Anyways, you know what I'll do? I'll do it the easy way.
- 12:12Maybe not so easy, but anyways, I'll try to.
- 12:15I'll try to find it because I just can't for some reason
- 12:19figure it out. I don't know why, Joel.
- 12:23It's so easy when I do it before the show and then when I'm in
- 12:27the show I can't do it. Crazy, absolutely crazy.
- 12:31Anyway, what's new? Definitely not that.
- 12:35So I was going to show you guys a video.
- 12:37It's pretty funny, but for some reason I can't, I can't pop it
- 12:43up. So what I'll do, I know exactly
- 12:45what I'll do. I'll take a quick break and
- 12:47while I'm at the break I'll try to pop it up.
- 12:49I am trying to trying to show a video and when I share my
- 12:54screen, for some reason it's telling me to log into
- 12:56Instagram, but I'm I'm logged into Instagram and I think it's
- 12:59just being a butt head. I think that's my problem.
- 13:04I really do. So I'll take it.
- 13:05I'll take a quick break. I want you know, I'll take a
- 13:08quick break. I'll show a little video, little
- 13:10something, something, and then we'll come right back on
- 13:12military. Reason Instagram saying that my
- 17:03password is wrong, but I know it's not it's right.
- 17:05So whatever I was going to pop up something and show you guys
- 17:08something that I saw on Instagram.
- 17:09It was really cool. Welcome back to veterans talk on
- 17:12military broadcast radio with yours truly magic and I'm trying
- 17:15to figure out what in the world is going on with this app.
- 17:20I have no idea. But anyway, if you join us for
- 17:23the first time again, thank you for for for joining us.
- 17:28I mean, thank you for being here on the show and thank you for
- 17:32joining Military Broadcast radio.
- 17:33I mean, we've got so many great shows, great live shows that we
- 17:36do. And you know, I, I don't like to
- 17:39plan mine anymore. I kind of like doing it off the
- 17:41cuff. And I feel like once I get into
- 17:43it, I'm into it and that's it. Sometimes I got a great, great
- 17:46thoughts and sometimes I'm just like Lala land.
- 17:50But it is coming to an end of September and pretty soon the
- 17:56holidays are going to be upon us.
- 17:57And I know that means a lot for a lot of different veterans.
- 18:00And it's a very difficult time for me.
- 18:02September is always a difficult time.
- 18:03I lost my mother in September. October is difficult, would have
- 18:07been my mother's birthday. And you know, I know some of you
- 18:10have lost loved ones in October and, and stuff as well.
- 18:13And it's difficult. As we close up September, which
- 18:18is Suicide Awareness Month, I want you all to be understanding
- 18:23that just because the month ends for suicide awareness doesn't
- 18:27mean it ends for all of us. It's still very important to
- 18:30reach out to your friends, family, loved ones, people you
- 18:33know, and even just passing a stranger.
- 18:36Be nice to them. Just be nice to them.
- 18:38You don't know what they're going through, you don't know
- 18:39what they've been through and you definitely don't know what
- 18:42is in their mind, so to speak, you know, and it's it's you
- 18:49don't need to be scared. It's just part of life and try
- 18:52trying to be nice to somebody and, and just be a good person,
- 18:57man. I mean, I can't say that enough.
- 18:59Just be a freaking good person. It's crazy.
- 19:02I, I know for a fact that, you know, when I went through a lot,
- 19:13you know, within the last quite a few months and stuff like
- 19:15that, it was very difficult for me.
- 19:17It was difficult because of, you know, not having anybody there
- 19:23or feeling a little bit lost, if you will.
- 19:27And I think that what mattered the most was that I had people
- 19:32like H train and, and others that were there for me and, you
- 19:36know, said, Hey, you good. Let me just check in, check in
- 19:39with you and check up on you. And I think that's really
- 19:43important. So as we go into and, and we
- 19:46start the end of the month of September, which is suicide
- 19:48awareness and we go into the holidays and stuff, be be
- 19:51mindful, be vigilant, reach out to that someone special, someone
- 19:55special you've been meaning to say sorry to or thank you or
- 19:59hey, just checking on you, right?
- 20:01And here's something that I learned over the last couple
- 20:04weeks is that you don't always have to pick up the phone and
- 20:08tell somebody you're sorry or ask for forgiveness or.
- 20:13Give them forgiveness. You can do it on your own as
- 20:16well. It's very simple.
- 20:17So remember that as well. You know, I, I can't, I can't
- 20:24stress enough how important it is to really make sure that you
- 20:31are. I don't know how to say this.
- 20:39Make sure you're a good person, man.
- 20:43I'm just, I'm just trying to think of, of, of the right words
- 20:47to say without hurting somebody. Because somebody had wrote me a
- 20:49e-mail couple weeks ago and it was not good.
- 20:52And it was, you know, just basically saying that, you know,
- 20:55they listen to my show and something bothered them on my
- 20:57show. OK, sorry, sorry that something
- 21:01bothered you. I, I don't, I don't know what to
- 21:06tell you. So, but I just don't know what
- 21:12to tell you. I mean, I, I, I, I have no idea.
- 21:20I'm, I'm looking at this e-mail right now and I don't even know
- 21:22how to, how to respond to it. It's it's mind boggling that
- 21:27some people, just some people just get so bent in their ways
- 21:35that they don't understand how to move on.
- 21:42I guess it's the best way to say it.
- 21:44Forgive, forgive. I guess that the best way to say
- 21:50it. I think so.
- 21:53I think that's the best way to say it.
- 21:54Just just move on. Forget about it.
- 21:57Who cares? Stop being stop being a baby
- 22:01over it. I'm trying to figure out whether
- 22:05I'm going to read this or not. I'm kind of like stuck on the
- 22:07back, back burner, if you will, of this.
- 22:12And I don't know if I should read it or not, But some people
- 22:14like read it, read it. I'm like, Nah, I'm good.
- 22:16I'm good. I'll read this one.
- 22:21How's this? This e-mail right here is pretty
- 22:22good. It says, hey, magic, watch your
- 22:24show. The other day.
- 22:26It was a rerun. I just found it on YouTube very,
- 22:29very enlightening about the Major Registar Act and the Take
- 22:32Care of Veterans Act, which is going on currently in our
- 22:35Senate. Do you think either one of those
- 22:37will pass? And if so, here's the thing.
- 22:39I have no control over that. Do I think they pass?
- 22:43I think they should pass. Will they pass?
- 22:47We don't know. I, I'll tell you this, It's,
- 22:55it's, it's difficult because of the fact that so many people
- 23:00want it. The actual, what do you call
- 23:04that? The, the tinnitus and the sleep
- 23:11apnea to not be affected. So if you already have it, it's
- 23:14not a big deal. It's not affected.
- 23:16That's the good thing. That's the wholesome thing is
- 23:20that it's not affected. So if you if you, if you're,
- 23:23gosh, he keeps writing me and I'm trying to read it at the
- 23:28same time I'm getting lost my words, But hold on a second.
- 23:31I'll answer your question. Stop, stop, pause, press pause.
- 23:36The take Care of Veterans Act is one thing, the major richest
- 23:39target as another. They took the major Richard star
- 23:41Act and put that into the take care of Veterans Act kind of
- 23:43like they did the big beautiful bill.
- 23:45They put all that crap in it and there was like so much stuff
- 23:47that was great. And some of the stuff like they
- 23:49did the same thing, they should have never done that with the
- 23:51Major Richard Star Act, but they thought if we put this in with
- 23:54the Major Richard Star Act and then we have a chance of a
- 23:56getting past because people like all this is great.
- 23:59It's taking care of veterans and veterans spouses and Gold Star
- 24:02families and, and this person and that person, it's great.
- 24:06Well, a lot of people saw the tinnitus and the sleep apnea as
- 24:09a problem. So that started putting veterans
- 24:11against veterans, right? People who aren't veterans yet
- 24:14are still active duty, right? If you don't like me saying that
- 24:17tough, look up the word veteran. It says somebody who served, not
- 24:21still serving. It says served.
- 24:23So you are still active duty military.
- 24:25You are not a veteran. A veteran is somebody who is not
- 24:28doing that anymore. Look it up.
- 24:29It's not my choice, Webster's choice.
- 24:31So with that being said, it is kind of difficult.
- 24:35I don't know where that just went to.
- 24:37I don't know why that just disappeared.
- 24:39It is kind of difficult to get these people oh, Safari just
- 24:45quit unexpectedly good. I hate Safari anyway, it is good
- 24:50to get these these to get these passed it it we need to get it
- 25:03passed It's it's that plain simple.
- 25:05Don't passing the Major Richard Star Act effects a lot of
- 25:09people. Not passing the not passing the
- 25:19the take care of Veterans Act is a major problem because you're
- 25:23you're messing with people. I hate to say it like that, but
- 25:25you were definitely messing with people.
- 25:27So I, I don't think that I don't think that the tinnitus or the
- 25:40sleep apnea should be a kill factor for our stuff.
- 25:52I, I think that it should still, there should still be an
- 25:54opportunity. What I'm saying, I, I think
- 25:57there should still be an opportunity for, I think it
- 26:06should be an opportunity for the richer major, major richer star
- 26:09Act to pass without being tied into the take care of veterans.
- 26:14And I think the take care of veterans should pass with some
- 26:17adjustments to it. I, I guess I said what I needed
- 26:20to say and, and that's all, that's all I'm saying.
- 26:23I don't think it should be an issue where, you know, there it
- 26:31is right here. I think I got it.
- 26:32I don't think it should be an issue where people get mad or
- 26:36upset or, you know, go against each other because that's what's
- 26:43happening. You got the American Legion and
- 26:45the VFW and the DAV and all these other organizations are
- 26:48kind of going against each other and it's kind of unfair for
- 26:50them. So that's, that's my take on it.
- 26:55I mean, that's just again, my take.
- 26:56It's not the views of military broadcast radio.
- 26:58It's just Michael's takes. So I hope everything passes
- 27:02because I think veterans deserve everything that they get.
- 27:05I hope that the Major Riches Star Act passes, because
- 27:09obviously it affects all these combat wounded retirees and I
- 27:13think that it should I don't know I I I just think that it's
- 27:18just wrong for it not to be passing that's it so here you go
- 27:23I'm going to share this with you guys.
- 27:24I hope you guys like it. We'll see how this works out
- 27:27let's see here add to stage there we go I hope you guys can
- 27:32hear it too. So let me see.
- 27:34Let's go here. Where's that?
- 27:37Let's see it. Just keep.
- 27:38Keep the period on me. Give me one second.
- 27:42Keeps disappearing. I added to the stage.
- 27:44Now I can't find it. This is crazy.
- 27:54This is crazy. I added to the stage and now I
- 27:57can't find it. There it is right there.
- 28:07Then it stops on me. That's awesome.
- 28:13We'll figure it out. We're trying to figure it out
- 28:2319. 81 America. There we go.
- 28:27DL camouflage basically said the Gulf War, Somalia, the Balkans,
- 28:43Afghanistan, Iraq, the army war would left until 2008 the.
- 28:52Marine, I don't know why it keep stopping.
- 28:57Anyways I'll try to get that fixed for you guys.
- 28:58Which means. This shit had a longer military
- 29:01career than most. H string, can you hear it?
- 29:42It's God perfected the flag. In 1981 and everything since,
- 29:51it's just been fashion except for the war crime.
- 29:52I thought that was so funny because can you guys hear it?
- 29:53I just asked HJ if he could hear it.
- 29:56Let's see what he says. Yeah, yeah, but fate.
- 29:58All right, so it's actually it's on Instagram.
- 30:02It's hilarious and it talks about the BDU right.
- 30:05It's God, I wish I could play it man and get it working, but it
- 30:09is hilarious. And basically what it is, is
- 30:13they're talking about the the BDU, the camouflage that we all
- 30:17wore and stuff. So this is M81, also known as.
- 30:24God's plan, the Lord's flannel. Because in 1981 America took
- 30:31ERDL camouflage and basically said just hear me out, what if
- 30:36we made the blobs bigger and holy shit they were right.
- 30:43An M81 went to work. Grenada, Panama, the Gulf War,
- 30:47Somalia, the Balkans, Afghanistan, Iraq.
- 30:52The army wore woodland until 2008.
- 30:55The marines retired theirs in 2006.
- 30:58Which means this shit had a longer military career than most
- 31:01of the people wearing it. And when Uncle Sam finally
- 31:04retired it every minute, then militia member, paintballer and
- 31:08tactical larper in America could collectively they said we'll
- 31:12take it from here. And they did, right up until
- 31:16Multicam came along and became tactical.
- 31:21And 45 years later we're still making shit out of it because
- 31:26God perfected Plaid in 1981. Everything since, it's just been
- 31:31fashion. Except for the war crime.
- 31:36We'll get to that later. I thought that was hilarious.
- 31:40If you guys, if you guys have never ever seen that, let me get
- 31:44back over here real quick. Sorry about that.
- 31:46I thought that was hilarious. That was hilarious.
- 31:49I, I don't know who made that up or whatever.
- 31:52I saw that on Instagram. But it is so true because we
- 31:55were BTU's even when we were in Iraq, they, we had to bring our
- 31:59BTU's with us because people don't realize that they're palm
- 32:02grows in Iraq. There's, there's, there's
- 32:05vegetation in Iraq, right? It's not a desert like Kuwait.
- 32:09And so, you know, and, and at the end when they say, yeah,
- 32:15it's except for the war crime because man, the ACU was the
- 32:20biggest garbage that they ever invented in the Army.
- 32:24That, that, that pyjama type plastic zipper.
- 32:30You know, it's going to be much cooler.
- 32:31Man, that thing ripped easy. I mean, it was the pattern was
- 32:35like supposed to be digi pattern or whatever.
- 32:37It was garbage. And at the end they say except
- 32:40for the war crime and man, he goes.
- 32:42We'll get to that later. I thought that was hilarious.
- 32:44That was probably for me, like the funniest damn thing that I
- 32:47ever, ever ever saw. Yeah, I thought it was funny as
- 32:51hell. But anyway, yeah, yeah.
- 32:55Thought I'd share that with you guys.
- 32:56I thought it was pretty cool, pretty funny.
- 32:59There was another one that that I had that that I was getting to
- 33:03and stuff like that. So I will warn you, I'm going to
- 33:06play something a little bit later on in my show towards the
- 33:10end. And I just wanted I, I, I'm
- 33:12going to warn you, it may be a trigger for some people,
- 33:15especially those of us who have served overseas in Iraq and
- 33:17Afghanistan. And it's just a, it's just a
- 33:20reminder for me as I was going through some reels that were
- 33:23sent to me and I thought about it and stuff.
- 33:25It was, it was something that was just history.
- 33:31I think the history is not being taught the way it is.
- 33:33I mean, sure, we can go on Instagram if you want to and
- 33:36look at it, but I think that the kids today are not, you know,
- 33:39when I, when I was in junior high and, and even, you know, in
- 33:42Senior High, we, we studied the Vietnam War and the Vietnam War,
- 33:47what it meant and what it was and about the soldiers who came
- 33:51home, who were, you know, less than heroes.
- 33:54They were spat upon and they were yelled at and stuff.
- 33:58If we're not careful, if we are not careful, we're headed to
- 34:03that same thing. It's almost like our history is
- 34:06repeating ourselves from that era.
- 34:08You know, it's not a popular war in Iran.
- 34:11Iraq wasn't, Afghanistan wasn't right.
- 34:14And you know, you have so many protesters out there right now
- 34:17protesting the Iran war and this person and that person and
- 34:20everything. And it's just absolutely mind
- 34:22boggling that, you know, that you hate somebody for doing
- 34:28their job, you know, like the ICE agents and stuff like that,
- 34:31that are doing their job. They're doing their job.
- 34:34And a lot of those ICE agents, believe it or not, a lot of them
- 34:36are Hispanic. They have Hispanic Mexican blood
- 34:41running through their bones and they're doing a job because they
- 34:43believe in it. They took an oath, they believe
- 34:45in it. So I think it's pretty difficult
- 34:49sometimes to try and figure out who the who's, what's when and
- 34:52where's. And, and you know, I understand
- 34:57that protesting, peaceful protesting is a part of our, our
- 35:02way of rights as AUS citizen. But I just don't understand why.
- 35:08I don't understand why these people are protesting somebody
- 35:16who's doing their job. I mean, you know, there's an
- 35:19uproar right now that this guy was shot in I think it was
- 35:22California or it might have been, I'm pretty sure it was
- 35:25California, whatever. And they said that the ICE
- 35:29agents just murdered him. OK, So I watched the video like
- 35:3310 different times and that this is this is what the news said.
- 35:39The news spun it this way. They said he was a DoorDash
- 35:41delivery driver. OK, Well, DoorDash, shame on you
- 35:45for hiring somebody who was a illegal immigrant, right?
- 35:49Because you should have done your due diligence on making
- 35:51sure that he was a legal person, legally allowed to be here that
- 35:56was paying taxes. So how did you hire him?
- 35:58If he's an illegal immigrant here, how did you hire him?
- 36:01If he doesn't have a, you know, W2 or AW4 or a Social Security
- 36:08card or whatever? How were you able to hire him as
- 36:11a delivery driver for DoorDash? That blows my mind.
- 36:17So this is what the news said. The news said he was a DoorDash
- 36:20delivery driver and ICE agents shot and murdered him.
- 36:24That is not what happened. He was a DoorDash driver.
- 36:29Yes, that was true. He was stopped by law
- 36:33enforcement. I don't care if it's law
- 36:36enforcement from the FBI, the ICE, the DHSI don't care if it
- 36:40was law enforcement from the Bureau of Corrections.
- 36:43He was being stopped by a law enforcement agency in which he
- 36:48tried to ram ram. He tried to run over one of the
- 36:53agents and they shot at him. And, and it's unfortunate that
- 36:58somebody lost their live or they were unalived, if you will.
- 37:01But the problem that I have with that is the way it's spun.
- 37:08So, so, so, so pause on that and let's talk about something else.
- 37:13There was a a black gentleman that was hanging from a tree
- 37:17from a rope. And the news spun it.
- 37:20Boy, they spun it. Oh, they spun it.
- 37:22They spun it and said this is a, you know, there's more blacks
- 37:26being hung and and so on and so forth.
- 37:29Well, then they pulled the cameras from the doorbell
- 37:31cameras and the cameras from businesses around there and it
- 37:35shows him climbing up the ladder at show or tree and shows him
- 37:39hanging himself. This is suicide prevention
- 37:41month. Instead of addressing what was
- 37:44real, which was the suicide, instead of addressing that and
- 37:48saying, hey, is a very unfortunate innocent incident
- 37:53that happened, somebody took their life, right?
- 37:56Because that's a human life. I don't care if it was a black,
- 38:00white, green, purple, Jew, gentile, I don't care who it
- 38:03was. They took their life.
- 38:06So instead of focusing on that and saying suicide is real here
- 38:09in suicide Prevention Month, suicide is definitely real.
- 38:12This is Instead of doing that, what are we doing?
- 38:18We're, we're, we're. We're saying it's racist and
- 38:20this and this and this. No, it wasn't racist.
- 38:23He committed suicide. But news stations spotted and
- 38:27stated, some news stations stated that a lot of blacks are
- 38:32hung and the whites are doing it.
- 38:35I think that those news stations should be ripped from the FCC,
- 38:39should RIP every license that they have for false news.
- 38:43But then this is how they retracted it.
- 38:45They retracted it by saying, well, I'm sure there was some
- 38:48kind of a foul play there. There was literally video
- 38:51footage of this man taking his life, his own life.
- 38:55There was no foul play there. And instead of addressing it as
- 38:59a suicide and addressing of what it is and the problem that we
- 39:02have in America, the problem we have is not, not people are
- 39:04hanging people. The problem we have is that
- 39:06suicide is real. So why, what are we doing to fix
- 39:13that? And that that's that's that got
- 39:16me so upset that I just could not believe that that a news
- 39:20station that's supposed to be so reputable and stuff would be so
- 39:28jaded to do that and not call it what it is at which was a
- 39:33suicide, a very unfortunate event.
- 39:35So I'm going to take a quick break.
- 39:38We come back, I'm going to show a couple videos and I'm going to
- 39:40give you a warning right now. This is a trigger warning.
- 39:42Some of these videos are raw footages of Iraq and
- 39:45Afghanistan, Fallujah and Mosul, which H Train and I both were
- 39:52involved in. And there's a reason behind it.
- 39:56And I'll talk more about why I'm showing it as we approach next
- 40:00week, which would have been the anniversary of me being injured
- 40:05of. My mother passing away and a lot
- 40:08of bad things happening on that date.
- 40:11So, you know, this is my therapy and I saw these videos and I
- 40:15thought, you know, this would be a really good for me.
- 40:19It's a really good way to reach out to some of the people that
- 40:22watch my show that are not veterans because I have a lot of
- 40:24people that watch my show that are non veterans, which I think
- 40:27is really cool. And talk about how life has
- 40:32changed after the military. We'll be right back on military
- 40:36broadcast radio as we're talking about the anniversary of 23
- 40:42years it's been since Iraq. We'll be right back.
- 41:17Andrew Wiscombe and this is my submission for the Gems in the
- 41:20Rough 2021 contest. And it was just totally bizarre.
- 46:12Just fucking gunfire everywhere. Just a couple of RP GS.
- 46:18I was just thinking what the fuck am I doing here?
- 46:24And that question never went away.
- 46:26I don't know how to explain it myself and have yet to have any
- 46:33clear thought of Like yes, we actually made a difference there
- 46:36because we didn't at all. There was no difference fucking
- 46:39made. Maybe for the?
- 46:431st, I wanted to share that with you because it's, it's exactly
- 46:4623 years ago is what they're saying, 23 years ago.
- 46:51And they did kind of a look back on these individuals and, and
- 46:55what they're doing and, and where they're at in their lives,
- 46:58I guess. And it was it was pretty crazy.
- 47:02It's pretty crazy, you know, to think that 23 years ago we were
- 47:05in a land in a country that we knew nothing about, that we knew
- 47:10nothing about that we were not fully there, if you will, when I
- 47:18say there we weren't. We just, you know, I shared this
- 47:23with Captain, Captain, he's, he retired a Colonel, but one of my
- 47:32old commanders, him and I talked a couple hours on the phone and,
- 47:36and I said, you know, for, for so many years we were used to
- 47:41peacekeeping missions, you know, in the Balkans, in, in Bosnia
- 47:44and Kosovo and Bosnia, we were back and forth and stuff.
- 47:47And that's what we did. We trained for peacekeeping
- 47:49missions. And now here we were in combat
- 47:54and, and, and we trained for it. That's what we trained for for
- 47:57years. So.
- 48:07The legacy that it leaves in US should never be forgotten.
- 48:15It should never be not taught. You know, whether it was a
- 48:21popular war or unpopular war is irrelevant.
- 48:24The fact is, is that you had American women and men who went
- 48:29there and lost their lives doing something what they believed in,
- 48:34and that was fighting for the Constitution.
- 48:36It wasn't that they believed that war was good.
- 48:38It wasn't that we believed that war was the right thing.
- 48:41Being in Afghanistan or Iraq was the best thing because that's
- 48:45above our pay grade. That's up to the politicians.
- 48:50The oath that we took was not to those politicians.
- 48:54The oath that we took was to the Constitution of the United
- 48:56States. And in that oath it says obey
- 49:00the orders of those appointed above me and the commander in
- 49:04chief, the president of the United States, either wrong or
- 49:08indifferent. I share that with you because I
- 49:11think that that's a huge problem today with our youth.
- 49:15I think that our youth today are not following the rules.
- 49:24It's a simple thing, the rules, you know, I literally had a
- 49:28young lady curse at me today because the delivery truck was
- 49:33blocking her way somewhat. They were delivering a couch to
- 49:38me. And I said, but you can back up
- 49:42and go around it. The road goes around that way.
- 49:44And she yelled and said I don't fucking think I need to do that.
- 49:47And I said I'm not cursing at you, please don't curse at me.
- 49:50And she went on and just continue cursing.
- 49:52Very attractive young lady. I would have never dreamed of
- 49:56talking to somebody who was older to me that way because
- 50:00they probably would have beat me and then my mom and dad would
- 50:02have beat me for talking to him that way.
- 50:05And I think we're losing touch in America of what is real.
- 50:14I think that the youth have no more consequences.
- 50:18I think that the consequences have become instead of the the
- 50:22corporal punishment. I think the consequences become
- 50:24will go to your room. Oh, I got my computer and
- 50:27everything. I'm locked in my room anyway.
- 50:28So they took that away. I mean, what exactly do the kids
- 50:37have to lose today? Yeah, half of them don't, you
- 50:42know, go to college and they're they're they're using ChatGPT or
- 50:45whatever to finish college. They're not any smarter.
- 50:49They're not they're not learning anything.
- 50:55Have them can't carry on a normal conversation.
- 51:00Listen, I challenge each and everyone of you, when you go out
- 51:03next time to dinner or lunch or whatever with with your your
- 51:06friends or significant other, take two minutes and just look
- 51:10around and see how many people are in their phone not paying
- 51:14attention to anything. They're just in their phone.
- 51:18It's, it's mind boggling. It's crazy, the kids today and
- 51:23the youth of today and, and they just, they don't seem even the
- 51:26adults today don't seem to carry on a normal conversation.
- 51:33You meet somebody on the street and you say, hey, how are you?
- 51:35It's nice to meet you. It's great meeting.
- 51:37You carry on a conversation. You exchange phone numbers and
- 51:40you say we let's talk sometime. I'd love that.
- 51:44You call them up. Hey, John.
- 51:46I met you on the the street or whatever.
- 51:47Hey. Yeah, man.
- 51:48Mike, good to meet you, man. Hey, what's going on?
- 51:50Ain't nothing. I was going to go catch a
- 51:52basketball game. Football game?
- 51:53Want to see if you want to join me?
- 51:54Yeah, absolutely. That's cool.
- 51:55They don't even do that today. It's a text message.
- 52:00Hey, John, Great meeting you on the street sometime.
- 52:02About to catch up. That's it.
- 52:06Then it gets lost because people go on with their days.
- 52:11They read the text message once, think it's cool, and that's it.
- 52:15Because they're so caught up in their day, they cannot remember
- 52:20that they have to reach back out.
- 52:22It's it's, it's just, there's just so many things wrong right
- 52:25now, not just with us as a country, but us as a world when
- 52:30it comes to simple things such as communication, staying in
- 52:36touch, getting to know somebody. I think there are so many more
- 52:41people that are introverts today because of the computer age that
- 52:45we're in. And don't get me wrong, I'm not
- 52:46bashing the computers. I'm not bashing technology.
- 52:49Chat GPTI use them. I think they're great.
- 52:52But what happened to this right here?
- 52:55What did I do with it? I was reading a book the other
- 52:56day. I just, I just had a book the
- 53:01other day I was reading. It was pretty good.
- 53:03Come here, come here. What happened?
- 53:05What happened to reading books? Just picking up a book and
- 53:10reading it? What happened to just taking
- 53:18time out from the TV and everything?
- 53:20I, I used to play video games, man.
- 53:22I'd wake up at 8:00 in the morning and I know you're
- 53:24probably out there watching me right now laughing, but I would
- 53:26wake up at 8:00 in the morning, 7:00 in the morning, man, I go
- 53:30play a video game, drink, go cook coffee while they were
- 53:32still in bed and everything like that.
- 53:34Of course, the dogs were fed and stuff, but I'd be playing a
- 53:36video game and I'd play it till like 1/2 in the afternoon, maybe
- 53:4010:30 in that in the morning, whatever, and then do my day.
- 53:44Sometimes I would play, I played one time from like 7:00 at night
- 53:48until freaking 7:00 or 8:00 next morning or four in the morning,
- 53:52right? And it was just a bunch of guys
- 53:54on there. We're just having fun playing a
- 53:55game. That's great, that's fun.
- 53:58But here's reality. I don't even play games anymore.
- 54:04I don't. I barely turn on TVI have one TV
- 54:06in my house now. One TV, it's in the living room.
- 54:09I barely turn it on. Barely.
- 54:12Sometimes I turn on watch reruns.
- 54:14I think I got chips on there now, which was one of my shows
- 54:17when I was a kid that I loved, but I barely watch TV now.
- 54:20I like taking time going for walks with Eva, my black lab,
- 54:25and reading, just sitting on my couch and reading.
- 54:29Now that I have a nice couch, it's a it's powerful to get away
- 54:39from the computer and the technology just for a while
- 54:43close off from that. You know, I used to fall asleep
- 54:46all the time with my iPad on watching TVI started doing a
- 54:51meditation series. So now I put these special
- 54:55headphones on that you can sleep with and I listen to either
- 55:00frequencies or something like that.
- 55:02And let me tell you something, if you're suffering from PTSD or
- 55:06have anxiety or, or sleeping issues, man, I could e-mail me.
- 55:11I'll send you a link. It's amazing.
- 55:13The amount of sleep and the hard sleep that I get with listening
- 55:16to this is phenomenal. It's great.
- 55:18So I, I, I know my show's been kind of all over the map a
- 55:22little bit today and stuff like that.
- 55:24And, and I want to apologize again.
- 55:25I'm working new angles and doing new things and trying to rebrand
- 55:29and, and, and do great things with the show.
- 55:33And I apologize for the time crunch that I do have.
- 55:37Remember, I have an hour to get a lot of information out there.
- 55:40A lot of people write me and I'm able not able to always get to
- 55:44your questions on TikTok or Instagram or Facebook or the
- 55:49e-mail that I just got right here.
- 55:52Let me answer this real quick. I got 2 minutes.
- 55:55I'll answer real quick, Justin. Justin says this is what happens
- 56:02when you get old, man. This is crazy, man.
- 56:06Oh, look, I can see Justin says watch a show.
- 56:10I know you talk about veteran mental health from time to time.
- 56:14So first of all, I, I talk about a lot and I, I get some viewers
- 56:18that say they're tired of hearing that and I'm always
- 56:20trying to stay positive. So I apologize about that.
- 56:24If sometimes I talk about it and sometimes I don't.
- 56:26I try to throw it in there a little bit here and there being
- 56:31the suicide prevention month. What is what is one thing a
- 56:38veteran family member can do without provoking?
- 56:45I think he's trying to say provoking another veteran.
- 56:49OK, so so read your question. He's asking me about a family
- 56:53member that thinks that his brother, sister, mother or
- 56:59whatever, be it has PTS your PTSD.
- 57:02How do you go about asking them or so?
- 57:06So let me let me help you real quick.
- 57:08And I only have two minutes before the show because they
- 57:10have another show right after me.
- 57:11If you have a family member out there that has PTS or you
- 57:14suspect as PTSD, this was the brainchild of my show.
- 57:19That's what I had started originally.
- 57:21You know, don't say to them, hey, I think you have PTPTSD or
- 57:26or something of that. A simple realistic conversation
- 57:30with them. Hey man, I love you to death.
- 57:33You're my brother, you're my sister, you're my mother, you're
- 57:35my father, my cousin, whatever. I love you to death.
- 57:39I hope that everything is OK, but I want you to know I'm here
- 57:42for you. I've noticed some changes and I
- 57:53love you and I'm here. Let's go take a walk sometime,
- 58:00something as simple as that. And I hope that answers your
- 58:03question. If you want to write me more
- 58:05offline, I can answer you offline.
- 58:08I think that it's really important that we stay in tune
- 58:10and in touch with our family members and our friends and make
- 58:13sure that they know that they have a safe place to go.
- 58:16It's not always going to be the hotline at the VA.
- 58:18It's not always going to be, you know, one of those phones calls
- 58:23that you need to make gladly, but be a branch out there that
- 58:29they can reach out to you. Until next time, thank you for
- 58:32joining Veterans Talk Military Broadcast radio.
- 58:37Stay tuned for our next episode. I believe we have a show right
- 58:40after this and we have another one right after that.
- 58:43So we have shows all over. So stay tuned.
