- 3:12Speaker 1: Yes, let's do it, sir. So we got let the
- 3:17Speaker 1: record show Tiny Dancer was on time. She was clucked
- 3:22Speaker 1: in a couple hours ago and I said, Tiny, the
- 3:24Speaker 1: only time that's relevant is seven pm. So she did
- 3:27Speaker 1: some credit to her. Sweet sweet Paul Cummings. Good evening, sir,
- 3:34Speaker 1: and I just want to give a shout out. Obviously
- 3:37Speaker 1: we had Paul on last episode. That episode killed it,
- 3:42Speaker 1: by the way, going really well.
- 3:44Speaker 6: They have like almost thirteen views just on YouTube. Yeah, murdered.
- 3:49Speaker 6: That's murdered every other episode that we've ever done. So
- 3:53Speaker 6: kudos to James Dave and Paul Cummings for bringing the fight.
- 3:58Speaker 1: It's it's definitely up there in terms of a week
- 4:01Speaker 1: and uh, you know it was a and the and
- 4:04Speaker 1: the feedback as well, Rob was really great. A lot

- 4:16Speaker 6: of course. So I don't know what shows some people
- 4:20Speaker 6: watch here sometimes, but man.

- 5:04Speaker 1: As of.

- 5:16Speaker 1: Yeah, he he was a spook and he asked me
- 5:18Speaker 1: how to upgrade in the chat before, and I said,
- 5:21Speaker 1: just do it on the browser. Nice, that's that's my
- 5:26Speaker 1: terrible attempt at a Boston accent. And he was able
- 5:34Speaker 1: to do it, And yeah, definitely he is in a
- 5:37Speaker 1: good company with of course, Paula Trey and Jack Taylor
- 5:42Speaker 1: some of our favorite people. So thank you, t Busy,
- 5:47Speaker 1: everyone's collective favorite rocket queen of course, Colleen.
- 5:52Speaker 6: Oh hello Colleen, good evening, or.
- 5:56Speaker 1: It might be afternoon for you out there right my
- 5:59Speaker 1: tractor queen?
- 6:00Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 6:02Speaker 1: Yeah, uh oh, Jack is here. I always said, uh,
- 6:07Speaker 1: I gave him some some ship pre show. He's like,
- 6:10Speaker 1: I might be in and out. I'm with my son,
- 6:13Speaker 1: and I said, I'm starting to question your dedication Jack.
- 6:17Speaker 1: Of course we were joking Jack the Man.

- 6:53Speaker 6: It's a Bungled and.
- 6:55Speaker 1: Glenn Rocks Yo numb knuts.
- 7:00Speaker 6: What is up across the pond as well.
- 7:06Speaker 1: Actually, thank you for saying this, Sally, because I think
- 7:09Speaker 1: we have something to mention in terms of the merch
- 7:14Speaker 1: and a discount. Yes, I believe it's now, you can
- 7:18Speaker 1: explain it.
- 7:19Speaker 6: It is we let I think we let everybody know
- 7:21Speaker 6: Wednesday night because we got to talking about it because
- 7:24Speaker 6: we saw Joe Lenci that he had a free ruby
- 7:27Speaker 6: shirt on in one of his Facebook Sorry sorry, Paul, uh.
- 7:34Speaker 1: Uh all these guinea all all else look the same
- 7:38Speaker 1: to you.
- 7:39Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, all you all you focused in an ill.
- 7:46Speaker 1: Conde.
- 7:51Speaker 6: Yeah, but that's okay. But yeah, that that shirt looks sweet.
- 7:55Speaker 6: He got it in red, which really matched the the
- 7:59Speaker 6: ambience of the pick. Sure, because I think you can
- 8:01Speaker 6: choose what color T shirt you want to get the
- 8:03Speaker 6: thing on.
- 8:04Speaker 1: You can yeah.
- 8:05Speaker 6: Yeah. So but this week until the seventeenth, everything in
- 8:12Speaker 6: our store the link is in the description of the
- 8:15Speaker 6: Video Merch store and has a link everything is twenty
- 8:19Speaker 6: percent off, which is the hell of a deal. So
- 8:24Speaker 6: if you're waiting to order something, do it now because
- 8:30Speaker 6: this kind of deal won't be around until probably next month.
- 8:34Speaker 6: I think every every week they have something like the
- 8:36Speaker 6: week after this one. It's like you have to buy
- 8:39Speaker 6: three things to get fifteen percent off, twenty percent off
- 8:44Speaker 6: everything is this.
- 8:45Speaker 1: Is the yeah yeah for sure. And of course you
- 8:50Speaker 1: don't have to get the free ruby shirt. You can
- 8:52Speaker 1: get the inter pen shirt or T shirt. I think
- 8:56Speaker 1: you could use any design on any T shirt or
- 8:58Speaker 1: hoodie or any car or it's really kind of interactive.
- 9:03Speaker 6: Cool hat like I got.
- 9:04Speaker 1: Yeah, that is really dope. And that is a fitted hat.
- 9:09Speaker 6: It is a fitted hat, big bald head.
- 9:14Speaker 1: It's pretty fire. It's pretty fire.
- 9:19Speaker 6: It's nice and clumky. It's perfectly shaped. Man, you can't
- 9:23Speaker 6: I look goodness thing, Joe, you can't. I love it.
- 9:29Speaker 1: It looks really good. I gave you, I know, I
- 9:32Speaker 1: give you your props. After the Wednesday show, h T
- 9:37Speaker 1: Busy New super Spy in the House, what's up Man
- 9:41Speaker 1: kow Peach Sister's kitchenops and Ted Lumley as well.
- 9:50Speaker 6: So hello folk.
- 9:52Speaker 1: As we were yapping, some more people slid in the
- 9:56Speaker 1: d MS.
- 9:57Speaker 6: We love it when they slide in the d M.
- 9:59Speaker 1: Joe, yes, as we have tried to slide in Luna's
- 10:04Speaker 1: d MS.
- 10:06Speaker 6: Speaking of which, Joe, let me show you this real quick. Okay,
- 10:11Speaker 6: I follow her on Twitter. I see she posted this.
- 10:13Speaker 6: I don't know what this trend is with these act figures.
- 10:17Speaker 6: I've seen people doing it and I don't know how
- 10:19Speaker 6: they're making them. But I want this one. I want
- 10:25Speaker 6: this one and it would sit like right, and if
- 10:34Speaker 6: there was a bikini model, that'd be even greater. Yeah. Yeah,
- 10:39Speaker 6: So if this is a real thing, I want one
- 10:43Speaker 6: that is fire.
- 10:45Speaker 1: I've seen those before recently to rob and I was wondering,
- 10:48Speaker 1: like where.
- 10:49Speaker 6: If anybody knows what the hell's going on with these things,
- 10:51Speaker 6: let me know.
- 10:52Speaker 1: It might just be like an AI like create a
- 10:55Speaker 1: probably figure toy and what would it look like?
- 11:00Speaker 6: I just know I would buy one if available. Yes,
- 11:05Speaker 6: I wouldn't spend any more than twenty dollars or it
- 11:06Speaker 6: that I would. I would, I would. I would definitely
- 11:08Speaker 6: get one.
- 11:09Speaker 1: Yes, and you would keep it in the packaging. Oh no,
- 11:13Speaker 1: oh no, Joe, we use it personally in ways we
- 11:19Speaker 1: can't go into here.
- 11:21Speaker 6: Yes, I would want to put hands on. But yeah,
- 11:26Speaker 6: if anybody knows what's going on with the set, let
- 11:28Speaker 6: us know.
- 11:29Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a recent trend. I'm not sure what it is,
- 11:33Speaker 1: at least as it's a Facebook app.
- 11:37Speaker 6: Oh really, How do I miss all this on Facebook?
- 11:43Speaker 1: I don't know, or I'll go was messing with us.
- 11:50Speaker 6: Probably, Yeah. So anything on the drama front, I think
- 11:58Speaker 6: we just had the anniversary of the Walker shooting, uh yes, yesterday,
- 12:06Speaker 6: April tenth, and it's sparked a little drama on the
- 12:10Speaker 6: interwebs between Gerald Posner and our buddy Matt from Solving JFK,
- 12:19Speaker 6: and we got dragged into the fray, uh, as we
- 12:23Speaker 6: sometimes do. But he's doing some great stuff. I mean
- 12:27Speaker 6: he's he's putting the Martin film out there and saying, hey, guys, yeah,
- 12:32Speaker 6: explain this ship, you know, and for sure nobody can,
- 12:40Speaker 6: other than trying to say, well, like the one guy
- 12:44Speaker 6: tried to say that it wasn't from it wasn't shot
- 12:46Speaker 6: from inside Walker's house, or it was it wasn't a
- 12:52Speaker 6: commercially available camera because it had such a sweet zoom
- 12:55Speaker 6: on it or something. I don't know what they were
- 12:56Speaker 6: talking about.
- 12:59Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, no. And to your point, Rob, it was
- 13:02Speaker 1: started because Posner started out the day or the morning
- 13:07Speaker 1: yesterday with a tweet that said today is the adversary
- 13:12Speaker 1: of the Walker shooting, and you know, Lee did it
- 13:17Speaker 1: blah blah, blah blah blah, in which Matt Crempton from
- 13:22Speaker 1: Solving JFK responded with, like a couple of things, but said, wait,
- 13:27Speaker 1: how could you explain this? And in relation to the
- 13:31Speaker 1: Walker shooting, which is of course the John T. Martin film,
- 13:34Speaker 1: which we have done a ton of research on and
- 13:37Speaker 1: everyone knows this already, We're not going to rehatch that,
- 13:42Speaker 1: so that just kind of sparked the whole thing. But
- 13:44Speaker 1: he ended up he asked me, he messaged me, He's like,
- 13:48Speaker 1: is the do you have the Martin film on Twitter
- 13:52Speaker 1: or on your you know, like like a post. I
- 13:55Speaker 1: was like, I don't, It's on my laptop. So he
- 13:58Speaker 1: ended up ended up sending the link and he ended
- 14:00Speaker 1: up screen copying it and putting it on YouTube, and uh,
- 14:07Speaker 1: really good stuff. We respect that. Of course.
- 14:13Speaker 6: Thanks Double B for the super chat. I wish life stize.
- 14:18Speaker 6: You know someday, Joe, when we get to design our
- 14:20Speaker 6: own robot companions in the very near future. Mm hmmm. Uh.
- 14:30Speaker 6: I actually saw this movie. I think it was called Companion,
- 14:34Speaker 6: and it's like making Fox play this like smoking hot
- 14:36Speaker 6: robot chick. M h. I think one designed after Ana
- 14:43Speaker 6: Luna would be perfect.
- 14:46Speaker 1: I don't disagree. I've seen these things on Twitter recently
- 14:50Speaker 1: where they're there are these robots that like you. You
- 14:53Speaker 1: go up to this, uh it's like a convention. You
- 14:57Speaker 1: go up and they're like hi, and they're like very lifelike.
- 15:00Speaker 1: And I'm sure the technology exists where you could get
- 15:04Speaker 1: one with dark hair, dark eyes.
- 15:06Speaker 6: And the amazing working and working parts.
- 15:10Speaker 1: Yeah, amazing features of Little Luna.
- 15:12Speaker 6: Thank you John for the super chat.
- 15:13Speaker 1: Thank you John.
- 15:14Speaker 6: Action figures, stay away from the Fitzer. Yeah, no, we
- 15:18Speaker 6: don't want a Jim Fitzer action doll or Ralph sink
- 15:23Speaker 6: raph sink k that you can pull the string on
- 15:25Speaker 6: the back of here his eyes long in the doorway.
- 15:29Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, hello Southwest. I know you just came in, so.
- 15:35Speaker 6: That might be right, Colleen, that might be right, doesn't everyone?
- 15:45Speaker 6: It's been a while. Greg's in the house. What's up? Greg?
- 15:52Speaker 1: Hey?
- 15:52Speaker 6: Greg, welcome in, Boddy. All right, Joe, you want to
- 15:57Speaker 6: get kicked off with the topic.
- 16:00Speaker 1: Yeah, sure. So you know I'm gonna be talking a
- 16:03Speaker 1: little bit about Robert Mayhew and I'm not sure. I know,
- 16:09Speaker 1: I know, knowing our audience, a lot of you know
- 16:11Speaker 1: who he is. But for those that don't because we
- 16:16Speaker 1: do have a lot of new followers. Rob I'm gonna, like.
- 16:21Speaker 6: Me do I've heard the name of a thousand times,
- 16:23Speaker 6: but I never bothered to like do anything research wise
- 16:29Speaker 6: on the guy, you know, so sure.
- 16:32Speaker 1: For sure me too. And when you said, when you
- 16:35Speaker 1: were bringing up this idea of a topic and you said,
- 16:37Speaker 1: I have something on ROSELLI I'm gonna do Mayhew, you
- 16:40Speaker 1: know who he is, I was like, yeah, he's like
- 16:42Speaker 1: the Cia Anti the cashtro plot guy, you know. And
- 16:49Speaker 1: You're like, yeah, but that, of course isn't you know,
- 16:54Speaker 1: a deep dive into him.
- 16:55Speaker 6: So we're gonna it is much more than just that
- 16:58Speaker 6: as well.
- 16:58Speaker 1: So yes, yes, I'm just using that as of course
- 17:02Speaker 1: an example. So for those that don't know, we'll get
- 17:08Speaker 1: into some of his history. He has a few things
- 17:12Speaker 1: in common with definitely in person. We studied a lot
- 17:17Speaker 1: here before a guy Banister, which I'm going to get
- 17:20Speaker 1: into how they relate to each other. But I thought
- 17:24Speaker 1: i'd kick it off with I think this was one
- 17:28Speaker 1: of his latest a later appearances in life. It's just
- 17:38Speaker 1: about two minutes, so.
- 17:42Speaker 6: Here we go.
- 17:43Speaker 1: Yeah, no no music, I checked rop.
- 18:01Speaker 2: Thank you the reason we I'm not checking the written questions,
- 18:12Speaker 2: is that if I saw them in advance, if you
- 18:15Speaker 2: could presuppose that I choose the easy ones. But that's
- 18:20Speaker 2: not my style. I think you'll like my method of
- 18:25Speaker 2: handling questions.
- 18:26Speaker 1: No holes barred.
- 18:31Speaker 5: Uh.
- 18:32Speaker 2: I realized that you cannot go where I've been without
- 18:38Speaker 2: leaving thoses out of joint. You cannot go where I've
- 18:42Speaker 2: been without becoming controversial. I'm not in the joint fixing business.
- 18:50Speaker 2: If I could fix no, do that. Start with my own,
- 18:54Speaker 2: make it more cosmetic. And whenever I've taken get on
- 18:59Speaker 2: a assignments for my government or any of my clients.
- 19:04Speaker 2: I've never simultaneously run a popularity contest. I go where
- 19:14Speaker 2: it's good for either my my government or my clients.
- 19:19Speaker 6: M H.
- 19:23Speaker 2: I beg of you because of what I said, not
- 19:28Speaker 2: to refrain from asking any question that you feel could
- 19:32Speaker 2: be embarrassing to me. I've never dodged a bullet, and
- 19:39Speaker 2: I'm not going to start this evening. So as I said,
- 19:43Speaker 2: at the sake of being repetitious, there are no holes
- 19:48Speaker 2: bar Now let's go on out.
- 19:57Speaker 1: Let's go on a little journey, shall we row.
- 20:00Speaker 6: I have a question, mister Mayhew.
- 20:02Speaker 1: Yes, you have to call me Joe, mister Clark in
- 20:07Speaker 1: the back.
- 20:07Speaker 6: Yes, is it true, sir that you stole millions of
- 20:11Speaker 6: dollars out from underneath of Howers Hughes nose?
- 20:18Speaker 1: No comment.
- 20:21Speaker 6: I thought you said you're going to answer the questions,
- 20:23Speaker 6: mister Mayhew. You just dodge the bullet, sir.
- 20:27Speaker 1: Maybe I should have looked at those question was before
- 20:30Speaker 1: after all?
- 20:32Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, I'm getting kicked out now. Yep.
- 20:36Speaker 1: Yeah, there there were allegations of that, and we are
- 20:39Speaker 1: going to get into that.
- 20:42Speaker 6: And just so everybody knows real quick, this guy is
- 20:46Speaker 6: a legitimate bad mofo.
- 20:49Speaker 1: Yes, he's a serious guy.
- 20:51Speaker 6: He is who the c I, A, and and and
- 20:54Speaker 6: FBI types use for legitimate black bag operations. They use
- 21:01Speaker 6: him as a cutout to Literally, this guy and his
- 21:06Speaker 6: people or the inspiration not Tom Cruise, Natty iron Hunt
- 21:11Speaker 6: for the Mission Impossible series. This guy could do shit
- 21:15Speaker 6: nobody else could do. He could get in and get
- 21:18Speaker 6: out without being seen. And literally he was the inspiration
- 21:23Speaker 6: for the Mission Impossible original TV series. So that's how
- 21:29Speaker 6: legit this guy is.
- 21:33Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean he was a very serious, very serious player.
- 21:37Speaker 1: And we'll get into his background first before we get
- 21:40Speaker 1: into that. So Robert Mayhew was born in Waterville, Maine,
- 21:45Speaker 1: in nineteen eighteen. This is I'm britting from Spartacus. After
- 21:50Speaker 1: graduating from college with the ho Lacrosse in Massachusetts, he
- 21:53Speaker 1: joined the FBI in nineteen forty during the Second World
- 21:59Speaker 1: War as a Nazi sympathizing Canadian and infiltrated New York's
- 22:05Speaker 1: German American Bund, passing disinformation to spies who were eventually arrested.
- 22:15Speaker 1: And by the way, guys, I'm still getting over my sickness,
- 22:17Speaker 1: and I understand I'm a little horse, so I'm sorry for.
- 22:20Speaker 6: I was just getting sick. So I might sound like
- 22:23Speaker 6: shit tonight. I don't know very study.
- 22:26Speaker 1: Yeah, it's like that time of year, right.
- 22:28Speaker 6: So yeah, I thank you, Palin.
- 22:33Speaker 1: Yeah, all right. In nineteen forty seven, Rob Mayhew established
- 22:39Speaker 1: his own investigative company and also worked for the Central
- 22:44Speaker 1: Intelligence Agency. He was later to admit, quote, the CAA
- 22:48Speaker 1: was my first steady client, giving me quote cut out
- 22:53Speaker 1: assignments those jobs which the agency could not officially be involved.
- 22:59Speaker 1: This work brought him in contact with Howard Hughes in
- 23:02Speaker 1: the late nineteen fifties on a freelance basis. That this
- 23:07Speaker 1: included intimidating would be blackmailers and obtaining information on business rivals.
- 23:16Speaker 1: And you know Howard Hughes of course one of the
- 23:20Speaker 1: most wealthiest persons in the world. Then you're going to
- 23:25Speaker 1: have a serious kind of chief of security that's going
- 23:28Speaker 1: to be and ideally someone in law enforcement and in
- 23:37Speaker 1: the intelligence agencies that can work with you to get
- 23:41Speaker 1: the jump on would to be blackmailers and business rivals. Right,
- 23:47Speaker 1: you help them, they help you. It's all, you know, it's.
- 23:51Speaker 6: All contracts that only you could pull off because nobody
- 23:56Speaker 6: else can.
- 23:57Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. And I was thinking of this analogy
- 24:02Speaker 1: rob if like the Elon Musk analogy and the only
- 24:06Speaker 1: it's not all. I'm not saying like Elon Musk is
- 24:09Speaker 1: that involved with intelligence, but my point is he launches rockets,
- 24:13Speaker 1: he has you know, intelligence levels, what's what's the word he's.
- 24:22Speaker 6: Taken over basically being NASA. You know, he's doing shit
- 24:27Speaker 6: NASA can't do. He just rescued some astronauts and NASA
- 24:31Speaker 6: was like, ah, fuck him.
- 24:32Speaker 1: Right, you know, like you have to have a security
- 24:35Speaker 1: clearance and a good amount of it, and if you're
- 24:38Speaker 1: doing these type of rocket ships to like have the
- 24:41Speaker 1: kind of credit and do you think Elon Musk chief
- 24:45Speaker 1: of security, is badass?
- 24:48Speaker 6: He's got to be a bad ass.
- 24:49Speaker 1: I guarantee you he is. I can guarantee it. No
- 24:52Speaker 1: idea who he is, I can guarantee it. So this
- 24:55Speaker 1: is my kind of analogy to that, may you but
- 24:59Speaker 1: all so badass with intelligence connections and in mayhuse case
- 25:04Speaker 1: FBI connections and CIA connections.
- 25:08Speaker 6: Right. Yeah, on a sad note, you know what must
- 25:10Speaker 6: say today? No, by the end of twenty twenty six,
- 25:15Speaker 6: they're gonna be launching a mission to Mars with Optimist
- 25:19Speaker 6: robots on board. Oh really, Yeah, that's gonna be crazy.
- 25:26Speaker 6: We're gonna have footage of robots walking around Mars.
- 25:31Speaker 1: That would be interesting. I think it takes I think
- 25:35Speaker 1: like six months to get there, depending on the time
- 25:38Speaker 1: of the rotation of the planets and what makes the
- 25:42Speaker 1: best sense.
- 25:42Speaker 6: For well, that's a good thing about sending the robots.
- 25:45Speaker 6: They don't have to eat, they don't have to sleep, right,
- 25:49Speaker 6: they don't die unless their batteries die. But if they
- 25:52Speaker 6: can always recharge themselves some way.
- 25:55Speaker 1: Yeah, for sure, for sure, easy, Yeah, thank you, sir.
- 26:02Speaker 6: So.
- 26:03Speaker 1: In nineteen fifty four, Mayhew was hired to deal with
- 26:06Speaker 1: a starlet attempting to blackmail Howard Hughes after their relationship
- 26:10Speaker 1: had soured. Hughes also employee Mayhew to spy on Ava
- 26:15Speaker 1: Gardner and Ava Gardner, the American actress, was at.
- 26:24Speaker 6: Hughes was banging some sillies back in the day.
- 26:28Speaker 1: So let me get yes, So I'm going to hire
- 26:33Speaker 1: Mayhew's private detective agency to kind of keep an eye
- 26:38Speaker 1: on them, right. Mayhew served as Hughes's batman, and among
- 26:47Speaker 1: those who received money was BB Rabazo, a close associate
- 26:52Speaker 1: of Richard Nixon. Hughes via Mayhew also provided two hundred
- 26:58Speaker 1: and five grand which is easy matth tumil to his
- 27:02Speaker 1: politician's brother, Donald Nixon in January nineteen fifty seven, and
- 27:08Speaker 1: of course what we're going to get into. In nineteen sixty,
- 27:12Speaker 1: Richard Bissell and Alan Dulles decided to work with the
- 27:15Speaker 1: Mafia in a plot to assassinate Fidel Castro. Mayhew was
- 27:19Speaker 1: employed by the CIA to organize this conspiracy. The advantage
- 27:25Speaker 1: of employing the Mafia for this work is that it
- 27:28Speaker 1: provided the CIA with a credible cover story. The Mafia
- 27:32Speaker 1: were known to be angry with Castro for of course,
- 27:36Speaker 1: closing down there profitable brothels and casinos in Cuba, and
- 27:41Speaker 1: if the assassins were killed or captured, the media would
- 27:45Speaker 1: accept that the mafia were working on their own. In
- 27:51Speaker 1: nineteen sixty, Colonel Sheffield Edwards contacted Mayhew. As Mayhew later
- 27:58Speaker 1: explained in his book, in the winter of nineteen fifty
- 28:01Speaker 1: nine sixty, however, the CIA still thought it could pull
- 28:05Speaker 1: off the invasion of Cuba, but it thought the odds
- 28:10Speaker 1: might be better if the plan went one step further
- 28:13Speaker 1: the murder of Fidel Castro. All the company needed was
- 28:17Speaker 1: someone to do the dirty work, professional killers, a gang line,
- 28:22Speaker 1: gangland style hit, and in enters Mayhew and then Johnny Rosselli.
- 28:32Speaker 1: Mayhew offered the contract of Johnny Roscelli offered this contract
- 28:37Speaker 1: to Johnny Roselli. He in turn arranged for a meeting
- 28:41Speaker 1: in October nineteen sixty between Mayhew and two leading mobsters
- 28:45Speaker 1: other than Santo Trafficante and Sam Giancana. As Mayhew pointed out,
- 28:52Speaker 1: both were quote among the most ten powerful mafia members
- 28:57Speaker 1: in America. Mayhew told the Moss that the CIA was
- 29:01Speaker 1: willing to pay one hundred and fifty grand to have
- 29:04Speaker 1: Cashro killed, which, by the way, Rob. If I'm a
- 29:08Speaker 1: mobster and someone offered me, If I'm the head of
- 29:12Speaker 1: a mafia family and someone offered me one point five
- 29:15Speaker 1: million today to kill a world leader, especially someone like
- 29:21Speaker 1: cashtro Back, then I'd be like, get the hell out
- 29:24Speaker 1: of here. Make it one hundred and fifty million.
- 29:29Speaker 6: Well you got too. It wasn't just the money. It
- 29:32Speaker 6: just wasn't about the money for the like Santa's traffic content.
- 29:35Speaker 1: That's true, that's true.
- 29:36Speaker 6: You know, if you don't cancer is sucking up their money.
- 29:39Speaker 6: Situation with with the casinos in Cuba, plus the dude
- 29:43Speaker 6: put him in prison. So, oh, you want to pay
- 29:48Speaker 6: me one point five million to do what I want
- 29:50Speaker 6: to do anyway? Okay, and you're going to give me
- 29:53Speaker 6: the means to do it as well, okay, and our
- 29:57Speaker 6: government signed off on it. Okay, Yeah, I'll take you money.
- 30:04Speaker 1: Yeah. And as we're going to get into a lot
- 30:07Speaker 1: of why I think these mobsters accepted this was because
- 30:11Speaker 1: they knew that who was behind this and that they'd
- 30:16Speaker 1: be able to use this as eventual you know, chips
- 30:22Speaker 1: on the table when things went wrong or you're arrested
- 30:25Speaker 1: or you know, ROSSELLI was in jail and was possibly
- 30:31Speaker 1: going to be deported, and if you're working with the
- 30:34Speaker 1: CIA with something much more serious than that, like these
- 30:38Speaker 1: lowly issues aren't going to bother you much for leverage.
- 30:42Speaker 1: Essentially exactly, exactly exactly, And I know that's how gene
- 30:47Speaker 1: Kanna viewed it. I'm almost certain that's how Traffic Content
- 30:51Speaker 1: viewed it. And as we're going to see, that's how
- 30:54Speaker 1: Roselle viewed it as well. So when I was looking
- 30:59Speaker 1: for a good summary, rob of the exact narrative of
- 31:06Speaker 1: how this came to be, I stumbled on a Church
- 31:10Speaker 1: Committee report that I'm going to read to you. This
- 31:15Speaker 1: was in seventy five, and this dealt this went very
- 31:20Speaker 1: deep into this matter.
- 31:22Speaker 6: They uncovered the whole thing.
- 31:24Speaker 1: They really did, They really did. There's there's no reason
- 31:27Speaker 1: to look at the HSCA because the Church Committee Committee really,
- 31:31Speaker 1: like you know, blew this open.
- 31:34Speaker 6: Then this is why Blakie had such a heart off
- 31:37Speaker 6: for the mafia, because he figured, you know, if we
- 31:40Speaker 6: were doing this, you know, it's not a stretch to
- 31:44Speaker 6: think that, you know, the mafia could have turned it
- 31:47Speaker 6: around on Kennedy for whatever reason, right.
- 31:54Speaker 1: Right, right, So the initial plan use of underworld figures
- 31:59Speaker 1: phase one, there are multiple phases. In August nineteen sixty,
- 32:04Speaker 1: the CIA took steps to enlist the aids of the
- 32:07Speaker 1: aid of members of the criminal underworld with gambling syndicate
- 32:15Speaker 1: contacts to assassinate Fidel Castro. The earliest evidence of the
- 32:20Speaker 1: operation is a conversation between Deputy Director of Plans Richard
- 32:26Speaker 1: Bissell and Colonel Sheffield Edwards, chief of the Office's Security offer.
- 32:34Speaker 1: Edwards recalled that Bissell asked him to locate someone who
- 32:38Speaker 1: could assassinate Castro. Bisill confirmed that he requested Edwards to
- 32:43Speaker 1: find someone to assassinate Castro and believe that Edwards raised
- 32:47Speaker 1: the idea of contacting members of a gambling syndicate operating
- 32:51Speaker 1: in Cuba. Edwards assigned the mission to James P. O'Connell,
- 32:58Speaker 1: chief of the Operational Support Division of the CIA's Office
- 33:02Speaker 1: of Security, explaining that he and Bissell were looking for
- 33:06Speaker 1: someone to quote eliminate or assassinate Castro. Edwards and O'Connell
- 33:19Speaker 1: decided to rely on A. Robert Mayhew to recruit someone
- 33:25Speaker 1: quote tough enough to handle the job. Mayhew was an
- 33:30Speaker 1: ex FBI agent who had entered into as a career
- 33:33Speaker 1: as a private investigator in nineteen fifty four, Robert Cunningham,
- 33:42Speaker 1: a former FBI associate of Mayhew's who was employed in
- 33:45Speaker 1: the CIA's office Security, had arranged for the CIA to
- 33:49Speaker 1: use Mayhew in several sensitive covert operations in which he
- 33:55Speaker 1: didn't want to have an agency person or a government
- 34:00Speaker 1: person get caught. So again, they're using kind of cutouts, right,
- 34:05Speaker 1: They're not, They're using kind of two steps away. Mayhew
- 34:11Speaker 1: was initially paid a monthly retainer by the CIA of
- 34:14Speaker 1: five hundred dollars, which was terminated after his practice became
- 34:17Speaker 1: more lucrative. O'Connell had served as Mayhew's case officer since
- 34:23Speaker 1: agencies first began using Mayhew's services, and by nineteen sixty
- 34:27Speaker 1: they had become close personal friends. Sometime in late August
- 34:32Speaker 1: early September nineteen sixty, O'Connell approached Mayhew about the proposed operation.
- 34:39Speaker 1: As Mayhew recalls the conversation, O'Connell asked him to contact
- 34:44Speaker 1: John ROSELLI, an underrolled figure with possible gambling contexts in
- 34:49Speaker 1: Las Vegas, to determine if he would participate in a
- 34:55Speaker 1: plan to quote dispose of Castro And I just want
- 35:01Speaker 1: to go back to this this kind of a footnote
- 35:07Speaker 1: here during nineteen fifty of this Church Committee Report fifty
- 35:12Speaker 1: four to fifty five, Mayhew cooperated with the CIA and
- 35:16Speaker 1: attempting to undermine, ready for the irony here rob Aristotle
- 35:22Speaker 1: on Nassas's contract with the Saudi Arabian government that would
- 35:27Speaker 1: have given Onnasas virtually complete control over shipping of oil
- 35:32Speaker 1: from Saudi Arabia. Of course, on Nassas later married Jacqueline Kennedy.
- 35:43Speaker 1: Although he was employed by Onasas's competitor, Mayhew work closely
- 35:49Speaker 1: with the CIA. He testified that he contracted for a
- 35:52Speaker 1: listening device to be placed on on Nassas's room in
- 35:57Speaker 1: New York after first consulting with the agency, and that
- 36:01Speaker 1: he provided the impetus for the termination of the contract
- 36:05Speaker 1: by publicizing its terms in a newspaper in Rome that
- 36:09Speaker 1: he said purchased was purchased with he purchased with CIA funds,
- 36:16Speaker 1: and of course, interesting William Harvey, who was also involved
- 36:20Speaker 1: in the CIA castro plots, was reassigned to Rome. O'Connell
- 36:28Speaker 1: testified that Mayhew, at the CIA's request, had also previously
- 36:32Speaker 1: arranged for the production of a film in Hollywood depicting
- 36:36Speaker 1: a foreign leader with a woman in the Soviet Union.
- 36:39Speaker 1: I think they mean on NASA's The CIA planned to
- 36:43Speaker 1: circulate the film, representing it to have been produced but
- 36:47Speaker 1: not released, aka leverage. Mayhew testified that he had located
- 36:53Speaker 1: an actor resembling the leader and had arranged for the
- 36:56Speaker 1: production of the film.
- 36:59Speaker 6: A film mean Porno. Oh that.
- 37:06Speaker 1: I was because they said Hollywood. I thought it meant
- 37:08Speaker 1: like film Phil But no, okay, thank you.
- 37:12Speaker 6: They basically were trying to set up this. I never
- 37:15Speaker 6: want to say who it was, but one of these
- 37:19Speaker 6: leaders over there he found somebody looks like this guy
- 37:22Speaker 6: and have him bang in his check and then release
- 37:25Speaker 6: it in his country and embarrass him but make it
- 37:29Speaker 6: look like the Soviets did it.
- 37:33Speaker 1: Thank you for pointing that out, because I was close
- 37:37Speaker 1: to it.
- 37:37Speaker 6: But yes, John Martin Thorn would have been much better hire.
- 37:41Speaker 1: For this, if you know. You know. Mayhew had known
- 37:51Speaker 1: Rosselli since the late nineteen fifties. Although Mayhew claims not
- 37:55Speaker 1: to have been aware of the extent of Roselli's underworld
- 37:58Speaker 1: connections and activities, he recalled that quote. It was certainly
- 38:03Speaker 1: evident to me that he was able to accomplish rosselli
- 38:07Speaker 1: things in Las Vegas, when nobody else seemed to get
- 38:10Speaker 1: that kind of attention. O'Connell had previously met Roselli at
- 38:16Speaker 1: Mayhew's home. O'Connell at Mayhew each claimed that the other
- 38:22Speaker 1: had raised the idea of using Roselli, and Mayhew said
- 38:27Speaker 1: O'Connell was aware that Roselli had contacts with the gambling syndicate. So, Rob,
- 38:33Speaker 1: here you have O'Connell and Mayhew, both CIA employees, blaming
- 38:41Speaker 1: the fallouts of the failed Castro plots on. Oh, the
- 38:45Speaker 1: other guy thought of it, right, Mayhew said, O'Connell thought
- 38:50Speaker 1: of it. O'Connell said, Mayhew thought of it. Is what
- 38:53Speaker 1: I gleaned from this, right, Yeah, a classic case of misdirection.
- 39:02Speaker 1: Mayhew was at first reluctant to become involved in the
- 39:06Speaker 1: operation because it might interfere with his relationship with his
- 39:10Speaker 1: new client, Howard Hughes. He finally agreed because he felt
- 39:16Speaker 1: he owed the agency a commitment. Yeah, O kanno. Recall
- 39:25Speaker 1: that Mayhew was to approach Roselli using a cover story
- 39:29Speaker 1: that he represented business business firms suffering heavy financial losses
- 39:35Speaker 1: caused by Castro's actions, probably like casino or hotel owners.
- 39:43Speaker 1: Right again, CIA using plausible deniability to not let Rosellie
- 39:52Speaker 1: know who Mayhew was actually working for. But as we'll
- 39:56Speaker 1: later find out, Orcelli had a pretty good idea. Mayhew
- 40:02Speaker 1: testified as another EndNote footnote testify that he was told
- 40:07Speaker 1: the plan to assassinate Castro was one phase of a
- 40:09Speaker 1: larger project to invade Cuba. Interesting. Rosselli testified that the
- 40:16Speaker 1: story was developed later and used as a mutual cover
- 40:20Speaker 1: by O'Connell, Mayhew and Roselli and dealing with Cubans recruited
- 40:26Speaker 1: recruited for the project, so that there are a lot
- 40:30Speaker 1: of moving parts going on right now, right.
- 40:34Speaker 6: A lot.
- 40:35Speaker 1: Yeah, the let me start showing this. So you have
- 40:41Speaker 1: the CIA upper echellance of it with their own goals.
- 40:48Speaker 1: You have probably the mid level people and uh O'Donnell,
- 40:55Speaker 1: O'Connell and Mayhew and their plot to or conspiracy to
- 41:07Speaker 1: assassinate Castro as a different end of it.
- 41:10Speaker 6: You have.
- 41:12Speaker 1: You have Roselli trying to leverage his own end to it.
- 41:16Speaker 1: And then as we'll see, he brings on traffic Conte
- 41:19Speaker 1: and g and Kanna who probably have their own goals
- 41:24Speaker 1: as well. So it's hard when there are a lot
- 41:31Speaker 1: of differentiating, different motives for something like this to go well,
- 41:41Speaker 1: and as we know, for Johnny Roselli, it did not.
- 41:44Speaker 6: Go well and most certainly did not end well for him.
- 41:49Speaker 1: No, but you see what I mean, right, Like everyone
- 41:53Speaker 1: was kind of like compartmentalized, like not everyone knew exactly
- 41:56Speaker 1: what the other person knew, and not everyone.
- 42:00Speaker 6: Joe, that's how you're supposed to do it.
- 42:03Speaker 1: No, I understand that. I'm just saying everyone's different motives
- 42:07Speaker 1: in this area, from Mayhew to Roselle, to Hughes to
- 42:12Speaker 1: GM Connor truff for Conte to the top of the CIA,
- 42:16Speaker 1: everyone had different motives of the ideal outcome.
- 42:22Speaker 6: I think. Yeah. I mean, you know, when you're talking
- 42:24Speaker 6: about the CIA plucking the most brilliant minds from these
- 42:30Speaker 6: Ivy League schools, that's the lie. I mean, it takes
- 42:37Speaker 6: smart people to put these plans in the motion. You know,
- 42:43Speaker 6: sometimes they did dumb shit, sure, but when you look
- 42:46Speaker 6: at this kind of operation, you know it was put
- 42:51Speaker 6: together well. And you know, if you believe rogue elements
- 42:55Speaker 6: in the CIA put together the hit on JFK, it
- 42:59Speaker 6: was planned very well. You know, from you know, the
- 43:05Speaker 6: planning to the execution, to the getaway to the cover up. Yeah,
- 43:11Speaker 6: you know, all bases were covered.
- 43:13Speaker 1: Yeah, it was not their first time forming an operation
- 43:18Speaker 1: like that.
- 43:19Speaker 6: Radio.
- 43:21Speaker 1: Yes, that they would have known exactly what to do exactly.
- 43:24Speaker 1: They would have a couple different fall guys in a
- 43:28Speaker 1: couple of different circumstances. And that's fascinating, man. So let
- 43:34Speaker 1: me continue reading here. Contact with Syndicate In early nineteen
- 43:41Speaker 1: sixty September, Mayhew met Rosselli at the Brown Derby in
- 43:45Speaker 1: Beverly Hills and told him that quote, high government officials
- 43:50Speaker 1: needed his cooperation in getting rid of Castro so again
- 43:56Speaker 1: saying government officials, but not saying who, and asked them
- 44:01Speaker 1: to help recruit Cubans to help do the job, which
- 44:04Speaker 1: is also very interesting. Mayhew recalled that Rosselli was at
- 44:09Speaker 1: first reluctant to participate in the project and insisted on
- 44:13Speaker 1: meeting with a representative of the government. A meeting with
- 44:17Speaker 1: O'Connell arranged in New York City at the Plaza Hotel
- 44:20Speaker 1: during the week of September fourteenth, nineteen sixty. O'Connell testified
- 44:25Speaker 1: that he was introduced to Rosselli. So here is Mayhew
- 44:29Speaker 1: introducing O'Connell, which is kind of his the person he
- 44:34Speaker 1: was given the test to Rosselli as a business associate
- 44:38Speaker 1: of Mayhew, and that Mayhew told Rosselli that it would
- 44:45Speaker 1: be It was arranged that Rosselli would go to Florida
- 44:48Speaker 1: to recruit Cubans for the operation. Edwards informed bissel that
- 44:53Speaker 1: contact had been made with the gambling syndicate. During the
- 44:56Speaker 1: week of September twenty four to sixty O'Connor, Mayhew, and
- 45:00Speaker 1: Rosselli met in Miami to work out the details of
- 45:03Speaker 1: this operation. Roselli used the cover name of John Ralston
- 45:09Speaker 1: and represented himself to the Cuban contacts as an agent
- 45:13Speaker 1: of quote some business interests of Wall Street that had
- 45:18Speaker 1: Nickel interests and properties around in Cuba, and I was
- 45:24Speaker 1: getting financial assistance from them, so kind of playing like
- 45:30Speaker 1: the lawyer, like my clients reached out to you.
- 45:33Speaker 6: Roselle's smart too, because before he agrees to any of this,
- 45:37Speaker 6: he wants proof, basically that the CIA is signing off
- 45:44Speaker 6: on this. Yeah, they're telling me that that's the case.
- 45:49Speaker 6: But he's like, nah, I want to meet with somebody
- 45:51Speaker 6: in and get assurance that this is really what's going
- 45:56Speaker 6: on here. Yeah, before I put, you know, agree to.
- 46:01Speaker 1: This great point, Rob it's not Roselli's first rodeo either. Huh.
- 46:08Speaker 1: If he wants his leverage, he's going to make sure
- 46:10Speaker 1: he he he.
- 46:13Speaker 6: Uh. Well, you don't want to set yourself up to
- 46:15Speaker 6: take the fall for something, you know what I mean, Like,
- 46:19Speaker 6: you've got to be suspicious anyway about how this whole
- 46:25Speaker 6: thing is gonna play out. But before you agree to something,
- 46:28Speaker 6: you know, you want to at least be able to say,
- 46:30Speaker 6: you know, not to reassure yourself that, yes, to see
- 46:33Speaker 6: how he's behind this, but that if something were to happen,
- 46:38Speaker 6: they would they definitely wouldn't have his back, and they
- 46:40Speaker 6: definitely wouldn't say that they know who he is or
- 46:43Speaker 6: they met with him or anything like that or told
- 46:45Speaker 6: him what to do. Right, But at least this gives
- 46:49Speaker 6: him a little assurance that everything is above board. As
- 46:53Speaker 6: Jack Ruby would say.
- 46:54Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, No, everyone's trying to cover their own ass.
- 46:59Speaker 1: Everyone knows the stakes at which this game is being played.
- 47:04Speaker 6: Yeah, and this is high stakes shit here.
- 47:06Speaker 1: Yes, yes, so let me. I'm just wanting to read
- 47:13Speaker 1: a little more from this Church Committee report. Mayhew handled
- 47:20Speaker 1: the details of setting up the operation and keeping O'Connell
- 47:24Speaker 1: informed of developments after they had been in Miami for
- 47:28Speaker 1: a short time, and certainly prior to October eighteenth, resolutely
- 47:32Speaker 1: introduced Mayhew to two individuals who of whom he intended
- 47:39Speaker 1: to rely Sam Gold, who would serve as a quote
- 47:44Speaker 1: backup man or key man, and Joe, whom Gold would
- 47:50Speaker 1: serve as a courier to Cuba and make arrangements there.
- 47:56Speaker 6: So now let everybody know who Sam Gold is.
- 48:00Speaker 1: That is Sam g and Kanna and.
- 48:02Speaker 6: Joe is me Santo's trafficante?
- 48:08Speaker 1: Yes, yes, yes, of course. It's interesting that the wording
- 48:12Speaker 1: they use here, Rob would serve as a courier to
- 48:15Speaker 1: Cuba because we know, we know Trafficante was imprisoned in
- 48:22Speaker 1: nineteen fifty nine by Cashro. He spent a couple of
- 48:26Speaker 1: months in there. Of course, he was treated very nicely there.
- 48:32Speaker 1: He was later released. He then stayed in Cuba a
- 48:35Speaker 1: while and a lot of people thought was traffic Conte
- 48:39Speaker 1: playing both sides here, And it's interesting they say the
- 48:43Speaker 1: courier to Cuba is Trafficante And I don't know exactly
- 48:50Speaker 1: where traffic Conte's true loyalties lay. I would assume that
- 48:55Speaker 1: just being a mafia boss, it it late, it landed
- 48:59Speaker 1: on the side of money and Cuban casinos. But you
- 49:06Speaker 1: never know. I definitely think he was hedging his bets
- 49:10Speaker 1: and cooperating with I know he met with Raoul a
- 49:16Speaker 1: couple of times for sure. So I'm got to continue here.
- 49:22Speaker 6: In real quick, Joe before you continue, sure, Jolly Boomer
- 49:27Speaker 6: in the chat said that he was married to Anne
- 49:29Speaker 6: loon to ten years ago. If that's true, sir, A,
- 49:34Speaker 6: you're lucky. You're a lucky man. And B I want
- 49:38Speaker 6: to come on a real JFK related podcast.
- 49:42Speaker 1: That's your B.
- 49:44Speaker 6: Huh, that's your B. No, No, Jolly Boomer, I thought.
- 49:50Speaker 1: Your B was said news. No, if he was married to.
- 49:57Speaker 6: Her, well maybe he does the Loncoming podcast at gmail
- 50:05Speaker 6: dot com.
- 50:08Speaker 1: Come on, yeah, I haven't checked the chat in a
- 50:11Speaker 1: few minutes because I've been reading. That would be great,
- 50:17Speaker 1: Joey Boomer, although you would have to give yes, yes,
- 50:29Speaker 1: nudes or you're full of it. O'Connell testified that he
- 50:35Speaker 1: learned the true identities of his associates one morning when
- 50:39Speaker 1: made you Cold and asked him to examine the quote
- 50:42Speaker 1: parade supplement to the Miami Times an attorney an article
- 50:48Speaker 1: on the Attorney General ten most Wanted Criminals list revealed
- 50:52Speaker 1: that Sam Gold, Salvatore Ginkana, a Chicago based gangster, and
- 50:57Speaker 1: Joe nato Conte, the Casa Nostra chieftain in Cuba. O'Connell
- 51:06Speaker 1: reportedly reported his discovery to Edwards, but did not know
- 51:10Speaker 1: whether Edwards reported this factor was superiors. So again this
- 51:14Speaker 1: is another I put it out the flagpole thing. I
- 51:20Speaker 1: don't know what happened. It's not my fault. Let's see.
- 51:27Speaker 1: Mayhew recalled it was gen Conna's job to locate someone
- 51:31Speaker 1: in Castro's entourage who could accomplish the assassination, and that
- 51:36Speaker 1: he almost he met almost daily with Giancanna over a
- 51:41Speaker 1: substantial period of time. Although Mayhew described Giancanna as playing
- 51:46Speaker 1: a key role, Roselli claimed that none of the Cubans
- 51:50Speaker 1: eventually used in the operation were required through Gincana's contexts.
- 51:56Speaker 1: And that makes sense to me because gen Kanna, being
- 52:00Speaker 1: from Chicago probably wouldn't have the top of the line
- 52:05Speaker 1: contacts as traffic content would. And then we go into
- 52:11Speaker 1: some more stuff, but I'm gonna leave that for later,
- 52:15Speaker 1: possibly as I think we did a pretty good recap
- 52:20Speaker 1: on Mayhew and background and him and the CIA and Roselli,
- 52:26Speaker 1: and I think I'll leave it all to you. Now,
- 52:28Speaker 1: what do you think, sir? I think you muted?
- 52:31Speaker 6: Oh yeah, you know. He weaves in and out of
- 52:34Speaker 6: both both Roselli and Hughes stories. So yeah, that just,
- 52:39Speaker 6: you know, sets a good table for everybody to understand
- 52:42Speaker 6: who this guy was and what he was up to.
- 52:46Speaker 6: And somebody else I wanted to mention. Between September twenty
- 52:53Speaker 6: fifth and the Bay of Pigs, a series of recruitments, meetings,
- 52:56Speaker 6: and arrangements were made. The following is an outline of
- 52:59Speaker 6: events that is not necessarily in chronological order. Now we
- 53:01Speaker 6: mentioned some of this stuff, and Joe mentioned the meeting
- 53:03Speaker 6: with traffic Conte and g and Kanna as a backup man.
- 53:09Speaker 6: Traffic Conte was used. According to Rosselli, is only a
- 53:12Speaker 6: translator for his Cuban assassins, allegedly.
- 53:19Speaker 1: Because he knew Spanish as well as Italian.
- 53:22Speaker 6: Yeah, Rosselli, in his contact with the Cubans invents the
- 53:27Speaker 6: cover story that he represents some Wall Street business interests
- 53:29Speaker 6: who want to see Castro eliminated. We covered on that,
- 53:33Speaker 6: and the first attempt at an assassination of Castro involved
- 53:36Speaker 6: the use of pills Mayhew and Rosselli met with Cuban
- 53:39Speaker 6: number one and number two. Mayhew opened up his briefcase
- 53:43Speaker 6: and gave the pills with instructions for their use to
- 53:45Speaker 6: Cuban number one. And these pills came straight from Sidney Gottlieb.
- 53:55Speaker 6: Mayhew also had ten thousand dollars that he gave the
- 53:57Speaker 6: Cubans for doing the project. Roselli did not know of
- 54:00Speaker 6: the money. Roselli states he received no renuneration for his
- 54:04Speaker 6: work on the project. In fact, he paid out eight
- 54:07Speaker 6: hundred dollars for gas for a speedboat to deliver two
- 54:11Speaker 6: or three man parties for griller raids into Cuba out
- 54:14Speaker 6: of his own pocket. I find it hard to believe
- 54:17Speaker 6: that Rozilli did not monetarily benefit from all of this.
- 54:23Speaker 1: Me as well.
- 54:27Speaker 6: Prior to the but I.
- 54:28Speaker 1: Have eight thousand dollars of gas expenses.
- 54:32Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean, they're basically giving him a get out
- 54:37Speaker 6: of jail free cards if he ever gets busted with anything.
- 54:41Speaker 6: Always gonna do and say, look, I'm gonna talk, are
- 54:43Speaker 6: you giving a fuck out of here? Okay?
- 54:46Speaker 1: And that, and I know you're going to get into
- 54:49Speaker 1: this that might have contributed to his death. And when
- 54:54Speaker 1: we get into that. We're going to figure out. We're
- 54:56Speaker 1: trying to talk about who could have possibly been behind it.
- 55:00Speaker 1: But he was involved in a lot of shady stuff,
- 55:03Speaker 1: so it's not going to be easy.
- 55:04Speaker 6: I will say, from the way that it was done,
- 55:07Speaker 6: it's pretty easy to discern who was behind it.
- 55:11Speaker 1: The way the way. Yeah, But my point is there
- 55:15Speaker 1: are motives for, say, the CIA to silence them for
- 55:20Speaker 1: their own reason, and the mafia for their own reason,
- 55:22Speaker 1: and probably half a dozen other people for their own reason.
- 55:28Speaker 6: Yeah, there's a lot of reasons floating around right right.
- 55:33Speaker 6: Prior to the Bay of Pigs, there was no discussion
- 55:34Speaker 6: of using guns to assassinate Castro. It was deemed too
- 55:39Speaker 6: difficult a task to accomplish that way given Castro's security.
- 55:48Speaker 6: At different times, Cuban number one, number two, number three
- 55:51Speaker 6: would propose different projects. These would range from using plastic
- 55:56Speaker 6: explosives to a booby trapping Castro's desk excuse me. Roselle
- 56:01Speaker 6: would relay these one to Mayhew, in turn would run
- 56:04Speaker 6: them by the CIA. Most projects were vetoed, but the
- 56:08Speaker 6: CIA did supply a short wave radio to the Cubans
- 56:11Speaker 6: in Florida to try and make contact with their people
- 56:14Speaker 6: in Havana. Eventually, Roselle felt the project had failed, and
- 56:18Speaker 6: there was no specific point when it was announced, but
- 56:22Speaker 6: at some time Rozelle assumed the project for whatever reason,
- 56:26Speaker 6: had not succeeded and was shelved. So kind of a
- 56:33Speaker 6: kind of an open ending to this, they just kind
- 56:35Speaker 6: of stopped trying, you know, they came up with different
- 56:38Speaker 6: ideas and to see I was like, nah, we don't
- 56:41Speaker 6: want to do that. Nah, I don't think so, Na,
- 56:45Speaker 6: But here's some short wave radios you can talk to
- 56:47Speaker 6: people and a man with you know, And so basically,
- 56:52Speaker 6: you know, they just stopped trying.
- 56:58Speaker 1: Yeah, although they tried, you know, well into the late sixties,
- 57:02Speaker 1: and I think it's the seventies, but in terms of
- 57:07Speaker 1: Roselia and this effort was definitely a later sixties.
- 57:14Speaker 6: Yeah. So then the bad Pigs happens. In April of
- 57:19Speaker 6: sixty one, Truehilo was assassinated the next month in May.
- 57:25Speaker 6: There was charges of US involvement in that the rest
- 57:31Speaker 6: of sixty one and sixty two, possibly holding the efforts
- 57:33Speaker 6: to kill Castro by the Roselli team. The last attempt
- 57:38Speaker 6: by the Rossellit team was made in nineteen sixty three.
- 57:41Speaker 6: It doesn't give a specific date. RFK quashes the prosecution
- 57:46Speaker 6: of Giancanna for the Rowan Las Vegas tap that Mayhew
- 57:53Speaker 6: had done. Right, this is the Rowan and Martin's laughing
- 57:58Speaker 6: thing that he did for Sam and Conna. Yeah, and
- 58:05Speaker 6: so Rob RFK decided not to prosecute h G and
- 58:09Speaker 6: Conna for that because that would have opened a whole
- 58:13Speaker 6: big can of worms, bringing Mayhew to the forefront of things.
- 58:18Speaker 6: And Bobby Kennedy was well versed on the whole Cuban
- 58:21Speaker 6: Castro situation and what they were trying, what the CIA
- 58:24Speaker 6: was trying to do. Yeah, Yeah, that was the kind
- 58:27Speaker 6: of a thing. He was like, Eh, you know, I'm
- 58:30Speaker 6: going after the mafia, but not this one. Not this
- 58:34Speaker 6: one here, We're not gonna open up this can of worms. Yeah.
- 58:38Speaker 1: Of course he would have to, you know, talk and
- 58:41Speaker 1: sing to to kind of get preferable treatment.
- 58:46Speaker 6: So yeah, in October sixty two, we have to keep
- 58:51Speaker 6: a missile crisis. Early sixty three, Roselli is training training
- 58:57Speaker 6: a team in Myami area. Now Roselli shouldn't be trained
- 59:05Speaker 6: in anybody. I mean, this guy has no covert operation
- 59:11Speaker 6: background whatsoever, no guerrilla warfare training. He's a. He's a
- 59:16Speaker 6: basically a palm greasing Monts mobster. Right, but that's what
- 59:24Speaker 6: the Washington Post. A George Lardner story in The Washington
- 59:27Speaker 6: Post says. In early sixty three, Bradley Air says that
- 59:32Speaker 6: he saw Roselli in Miami training a.
- 59:35Speaker 1: Team in early sixty three.
- 59:38Speaker 6: Yeah. Wow, But again, I don't know how much you
- 59:44Speaker 6: can rely on Bradley Airs.
- 59:46Speaker 1: I almost like that to do double take. I thought
- 59:51Speaker 1: it was like seventy three, sixty three, Okay, please continue.
- 59:56Speaker 6: It was sixty three, yeah, yeah, did I say seventy three?
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: No? No, I just thought it would be later. Oh
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: you know, yeah, I not much have come out in
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: terms of Verselli, then I thought.
- 1:00:10Speaker 6: So March of sixty three Roselli's last ditch effort to
- 1:00:17Speaker 6: kill Castro. According to a Jack Anderson column from nineteen
- 1:00:20Speaker 6: seventy two, well I think I think what we're seeing here,
- 1:00:25Speaker 6: Joe is not not contemporary articles. These came out later
- 1:00:29Speaker 6: about what was going on back in sixty three. He
- 1:00:33Speaker 6: wasn't written about in sixty three.
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: Okay, that's that's where it's confusing.
- 1:00:38Speaker 6: Yeah. Yeah. Sometime in nineteen sixty three, RFK quashed any
- 1:00:44Speaker 6: further efforts. According to a nineteen seventy one Jack Anderson column.
- 1:00:50Speaker 6: November of sixty three, D M is killed in the
- 1:00:53Speaker 6: Saigon coup. JFK told Smathers later he thought the CIA
- 1:00:57Speaker 6: was involved. According to a j Nanuary nineteen seventy one
- 1:01:01Speaker 6: Jack Anderson column, and Kobe is the head of Deep
- 1:01:05Speaker 6: de deputy director of Plans in the Far East Division
- 1:01:08Speaker 6: at the time. Early sixty four, Howard Hunt and others
- 1:01:15Speaker 6: from Bay of Pigs effort to begin plot on another
- 1:01:18Speaker 6: Castro assassination reported by Ted sol sulk and in a
- 1:01:27Speaker 6: book on E. Howard Hunt in nineteen seventy four. And
- 1:01:30Speaker 6: by the way, folks, if you missed out on the
- 1:01:33Speaker 6: members only this past Wednesday, it was a banger. We
- 1:01:40Speaker 6: uh did a deep dive on E. Howard Hunt then
- 1:01:43Speaker 6: we joe it was a very u interesting interesting.
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: Yeah, I think uh it went two hours and twenty
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: seven minutes. Not too our planning, but uh, you did
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: find an interesting E. Howard Hunt article in the new releases,
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: I believe.
- 1:02:02Speaker 6: Yes, yeah, And that's what we talked about. So there
- 1:02:05Speaker 6: was a lot of stuff formerly redacted. It was not
- 1:02:10Speaker 6: this time.
- 1:02:11Speaker 8: Excuse me, yeap and reminder and reminder, if you sign
- 1:02:16Speaker 8: up as a covert operator or superspy, you will get
- 1:02:20Speaker 8: all those episodes.
- 1:02:22Speaker 6: Yeah, you can go back and listen to them all
- 1:02:24Speaker 6: all the way back to October.
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: Yeah, so another couple of days of TLG.
- 1:02:32Speaker 6: That's what thirty thirty more shows. Thirty some more shows,
- 1:02:36Speaker 6: isn't that my menu? Now? Well, I believe it's been
- 1:02:39Speaker 6: eight months since we started doing.
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: It, so for its been eight months for.
- 1:02:43Speaker 6: Eight times four thirty two. So yeah, thirty some.
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: Shows hasn't been eight months Jesus Christ. Yeah, time flies
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: when you're having fun. Yeah, it did fly on Wednesday.
- 1:02:57Speaker 6: For sure, it did. And yeah, so yeah, if you
- 1:03:01Speaker 6: want to check all that stuff out, there is a
- 1:03:03Speaker 6: link in the description of this show where you can
- 1:03:05Speaker 6: become a channel member and if you're a cover operator
- 1:03:07Speaker 6: or hire you get access to all of the member
- 1:03:11Speaker 6: of videos and the secret show we do on Wednesday
- 1:03:13Speaker 6: night every week. And also we opened that up to
- 1:03:19Speaker 6: the spooks on the last week of the month, just
- 1:03:25Speaker 6: so you can get a little taste what you're missing.
- 1:03:29Speaker 6: All right, back to row Selly, where are we here?
- 1:03:40Speaker 6: May of sixty five Katzen back Helms LBJ meeting when
- 1:03:46Speaker 6: the depot when the Dominican Republic ended lbjsd Helms the
- 1:03:49Speaker 6: CIA had ever been involved in the assassination of a leader,
- 1:03:52Speaker 6: and Helms told him no. This according to the kat
- 1:03:57Speaker 6: and Back testimony to the Senate Select Committee.
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: That's wait the seventy five right sixty five sixty five okay.
- 1:04:08Speaker 6: Okay, nineteen sixty six CIA poisoning plot of Haitian President
- 1:04:15Speaker 6: du Vallier bombing palace in sixty eight. According to Jack
- 1:04:18Speaker 6: Anderson column of seventy five nineteen sixty seven, Roselli indicted
- 1:04:23Speaker 6: for alien law and interstate gambling crimes the Friars Club
- 1:04:28Speaker 6: card game rigging, government opposition to sentence reduction. Surprisingly, March third,
- 1:04:39Speaker 6: nineteen sixty seven was the first Jack Anderson column wrote
- 1:04:42Speaker 6: that mentions Roselli's name. In response to the Anderson story,
- 1:04:51Speaker 6: RFK tells Welinsky and Edelman, he shut it down. According
- 1:04:56Speaker 6: to a Seymour Herst story teen sixty eight, of course,
- 1:05:01Speaker 6: the a bombing a Haitian palace Jack Anderson seventy five
- 1:05:05Speaker 6: article in nineteen sixty eight, Johnny Roselli is sentenced to
- 1:05:10Speaker 6: five years of hard labor Joe, which is where we
- 1:05:17Speaker 6: get this lovely photo.
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: And that you said sixty eight right, all right, yeah,
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: sixty eight Yeah, so five years okay, God, because that's
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: going to kind of tie in in the timeline to.
- 1:05:33Speaker 6: Yeah, you can see this happened in Las Vegas. That's
- 1:05:35Speaker 6: where he was arrested, Clark County, Las Vegas, Nevada. And
- 1:05:41Speaker 6: this is actually Johnny Roselli back in the day, handsome
- 1:05:48Speaker 6: Johnny prison happy to be out, buddy, happy to be out. Yeah.
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: I think he came out of Chicago at the time
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: of a capoona.
- 1:06:06Speaker 6: Yeah, him and Deeny Andrews shopped at the same Sunglass
- 1:06:09Speaker 6: Hut apparently.
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: Did some of the last hunt existent. I'm just sure.
- 1:06:21Speaker 6: Nineteen seventy Roselli goes before grand jury under immunity regarding Giancanna.
- 1:06:33Speaker 6: Seventy one. Mayhew calls Attorney General John Mitchell. He was
- 1:06:40Speaker 6: scheduled to go before grand jury on Las Vegas skimming.
- 1:06:44Speaker 6: This is what we kind of referred to earlier. He
- 1:06:48Speaker 6: was Howard Hughes accused Mayhew of skimming his profits to
- 1:06:56Speaker 6: the tune of millions of dollars and seventy money.
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: Yes, and do you know what happened after he made
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: that allegation, Sir.
- 1:07:08Speaker 6: What's that.
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: May You sued him for defamation, yes, and one out
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: of settle of the court.
- 1:07:16Speaker 6: So but no he didn't because he appealed it and
- 1:07:20Speaker 6: then he Howard Hughes won.
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: Oh I did not know that part.
- 1:07:25Speaker 6: Okay, it was a double got you. Wow?
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: Yeah, And of course you don't sue for defamation unless
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: you really think you have a case.
- 1:07:37Speaker 6: Yeah, he's see for dement defamation. Then he won, he
- 1:07:40Speaker 6: was he was awarded one point three million, one point
- 1:07:44Speaker 6: eight million, and then uh Hughes appealed it and one
- 1:07:48Speaker 6: and one on appeal.
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: Oh wow, I did not know the bootmark.
- 1:07:53Speaker 6: May You didn't get shipped out of that. But I
- 1:07:55Speaker 6: guarantee you he was skimming cooking the books for Howard Hughes.
- 1:08:00Speaker 6: I mean, you're talking about a billionaire, the world's richest man.
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:08:04Speaker 6: You think taking a little hair and taking it you
- 1:08:05Speaker 6: can get away with that man. You can take a
- 1:08:07Speaker 6: little hair little there, especially when he was batshit fucking
- 1:08:10Speaker 6: crazy by the seventies. Yeah.
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: And I also will guarantee you that Mayhew didn't pay
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: one dime lawyer fees during that.
- 1:08:19Speaker 6: I mean, this is how this cat was living in
- 1:08:20Speaker 6: the seventies. Bro, This isn't This is ripped torn from
- 1:08:24Speaker 6: the movie. But you know this, this motherfucker is wearing
- 1:08:29Speaker 6: tissue boxes on his feet, not shaving, not cutting his hair,
- 1:08:34Speaker 6: not cutting his fingernails, wearing pajamas all day. Supposedly, was
- 1:08:39Speaker 6: it all an act? We'll get there, I promise, Uh yeah, yeah, but.
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: I'm also saying a last I can guarantee you the
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: CIA probably covered me Hughes legal costs most likely.
- 1:08:56Speaker 6: Yeah. I mean that dude knew some secrets. Like, I'm
- 1:09:00Speaker 6: surprised he didn't end up dead and he just died
- 1:09:04Speaker 6: in like two thousand and eight. Yeah, he lived a
- 1:09:07Speaker 6: long life, bro.
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: Yeah. The video I showed the beginning was two thousand
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: and four, which I lived four years before his death. Yeah,
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: that's a good point. He he must have kept a
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: small shot.
- 1:09:22Speaker 6: Yeah. During the Cuban missile crisis, Rosselli was in Chicago
- 1:09:28Speaker 6: and he contacted Bill William Harvey at Harvey's mother's house
- 1:09:32Speaker 6: in Indianapolis and left his number in Chicago. Harvey then
- 1:09:35Speaker 6: called him and told him to go to d C.
- 1:09:38Speaker 6: And from d C, Roselli traveled to Florida, where he
- 1:09:40Speaker 6: stayed for the duration of the Cuban missile crisis, he
- 1:09:44Speaker 6: had times would, through his Cuban contacts, attempt to verify
- 1:09:47Speaker 6: the location of the Russian missiles in Cuba. Roselli claimed
- 1:09:51Speaker 6: that this had been successful, and after the Cuban missile crisis,
- 1:09:54Speaker 6: Harvey called Roselli and told him to stop all contacts
- 1:09:57Speaker 6: with any and all persons involved in past Cuban missions.
- 1:10:01Speaker 6: Harvey never stated why the missions were being called off
- 1:10:08Speaker 6: and on this whole Dan Rowan thing, this tap, whereas
- 1:10:13Speaker 6: Elie said that he understood that g and Conna had
- 1:10:15Speaker 6: asked Mayhew uh for a tap on Dan Rowan because
- 1:10:20Speaker 6: Dan Rowan was banging his girl one of gan Conna's girls.
- 1:10:29Speaker 6: Or is either that other dating like sisters maybe somebody knows.
- 1:10:34Speaker 6: I think there was like they were triplets or something.
- 1:10:38Speaker 6: Oh I'm not sure, but I forget. I think they're
- 1:10:41Speaker 6: pretty famous hot sisters. Triplets.
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: Job, that's that's even better.
- 1:10:48Speaker 6: That's like a that's a once in a lifetime score
- 1:10:51Speaker 6: right there.
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: Bro, Yeah, they crushed the only fans these days.
- 1:10:56Speaker 6: Oh my god, uh oh man, where was I Okay,
- 1:11:04Speaker 6: I'm sorry, I'm thinking about his old video I saw
- 1:11:06Speaker 6: floating around Facebook some years ago. There was three three triplets,
- 1:11:11Speaker 6: all twins, mystery, but it was from like the sixties,
- 1:11:14Speaker 6: and they had on these like little farmer outfits, little
- 1:11:17Speaker 6: daisy dukes and you know, these little crop tops, and
- 1:11:20Speaker 6: they were like they were dancing and doing all these
- 1:11:24Speaker 6: acrobatics and like doing all this kind of crazy shit together,
- 1:11:28Speaker 6: you know, like a human wheel.
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: You know.
- 1:11:31Speaker 6: They would all like like get together like voltron and
- 1:11:35Speaker 6: like you know, roll around and all. It was crazy. Sorry,
- 1:11:41Speaker 6: where'd that come from? If you find it, yeah, yeah,
- 1:11:48Speaker 6: I'll post it on the Facebook page.
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:11:55Speaker 6: Mayhew gave Roselli two stories on this, the first that
- 1:11:57Speaker 6: he was doing Gene kind of favor and the second
- 1:11:59Speaker 6: one that there was a real intelligence value in that.
- 1:12:03Speaker 6: Mayhew was afraid that Gene and Conna or Ruin might
- 1:12:05Speaker 6: be giving out intelligence information that would be of value
- 1:12:08Speaker 6: to the enemies of the United States or the CIA.
- 1:12:13Speaker 6: Roselli had not heard of the names Dubois, or Bellotti
- 1:12:16Speaker 6: or Fred Harrison. He admitted that Harvey had discussed the
- 1:12:18Speaker 6: tap with him, but both Harvey and Roselli were mad
- 1:12:21Speaker 6: that the operation had gone on. Gi and Conna obviously
- 1:12:25Speaker 6: knew about the tap. Mayhew did ask Roselli to get
- 1:12:28Speaker 6: bail money for the two tappers who were caught and
- 1:12:30Speaker 6: thrown in jail. Mayhew suggested that Roselli could get a
- 1:12:33Speaker 6: hotel to turn over the bail money. Finally, Roselli arranged
- 1:12:38Speaker 6: to have a man with a green carnation in his
- 1:12:40Speaker 6: lapel meet and transfer the bail money. He never received
- 1:12:44Speaker 6: any of the money back. Roselli really gets screwed over
- 1:12:49Speaker 6: with in the money situation on this, apparently because Mayhew's
- 1:12:55Speaker 6: making out of looking ban and stealing money from Hughes
- 1:12:58Speaker 6: and the CIA.
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: Probably well, he's kind of the middleman, is that, you
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: know Roselli in terms of traffic Conte and Gcanna.
- 1:13:07Speaker 6: Yeah, he's leveraged, you know.
- 1:13:09Speaker 1: Yeah, and and like good luck convincing traffic Conte or
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: Gancana to like go along with us and take less
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: money or whatever. Like it seems it doesn't surprise me
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: that he would be the one that got kind of
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: screwed over.
- 1:13:28Speaker 6: Yes, the McGuire sisters that might be who I'm thinking
- 1:13:31Speaker 6: of it, but he says they weren't triplets, and they weren't.
- 1:13:34Speaker 6: They definitely weren't the acrobatic triplets that I'm thinking of.
- 1:13:39Speaker 1: And thank you Lee be came a spook.
- 1:13:42Speaker 6: So sweet, welcome in Lee. It's awesome. I appreciate it. Yes,
- 1:13:47Speaker 6: thank you. Roseelli claims that he did not know what
- 1:13:51Speaker 6: type of tap went on. He admitted that he had
- 1:13:53Speaker 6: been questioned by the FBI, but he gave no answers
- 1:13:56Speaker 6: where zelle knew that Mayhew had been questioned by the FBI.
- 1:14:00Speaker 6: But again, Mayhew is a former FBI guy. He's a
- 1:14:05Speaker 6: cutout bagman for the CIA. This is all a dog
- 1:14:09Speaker 6: and pony show, folks. Nothing's happening here.
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: Yeah, a lot of different motives and motivations and at
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: stake here going on at the same time.
- 1:14:23Speaker 6: Yeah. So fast forward and we have Jackie Anderson right
- 1:14:30Speaker 6: writing his first story about this whole thing. He says,
- 1:14:35Speaker 6: four and a half years ago, Well, I take that back.
- 1:14:39Speaker 6: I broke a story that now is belatedly rocking Washington.
- 1:14:44Speaker 6: I reported that the Central Intelligence Agency had recruited two
- 1:14:47Speaker 6: mafia figures Roselli, John Rosselli and Sam g and Conna
- 1:14:52Speaker 6: to assassinate Cuban premiere Fidel castro. I tracked down Roselli
- 1:14:57Speaker 6: and questioned him about the story. He had nothing to say.
- 1:15:01Speaker 6: He promised me, however, that he would give me his
- 1:15:03Speaker 6: exclusive story if he should ever be free to talk. Yesterday,
- 1:15:07Speaker 6: Johnny Rosselli told, finally told me his story. First he
- 1:15:12Speaker 6: told it to the Senate Intelligence Committee in secret session,
- 1:15:15Speaker 6: and then to me, as he had promised four and
- 1:15:17Speaker 6: a half years ago. Roselli is a dapper, hawk faced
- 1:15:21Speaker 6: man with a thatch of white hair. He has been
- 1:15:25Speaker 6: disciplined all his life to keep his mouth shut. His
- 1:15:28Speaker 6: mafia partner, sam Gy and Kanna was slain before the
- 1:15:32Speaker 6: Senate investigators could serve him with a subpoena, so it
- 1:15:36Speaker 6: was obviously painful for Roselli to talk. I promised I
- 1:15:40Speaker 6: would make clear that he revealed no names, except for
- 1:15:43Speaker 6: the CIA contacts whose identities the Senate already knew. So
- 1:15:47Speaker 6: here's Roselle's own account of the real life mission Impossible,
- 1:15:51Speaker 6: the attempt to kill Castro. It's a story of cash payments,
- 1:15:55Speaker 6: poisoned pellets, high powered rifles, and powerboat dashes to Cuba.
- 1:16:00Speaker 6: The plot against Castro, or Roselli said, began in nineteen sixty,
- 1:16:03Speaker 6: when Dwight Eisenhower was still president and Richard Nixon was
- 1:16:07Speaker 6: vice president, and Alan Dulles was the CIA chief. Roselli
- 1:16:13Speaker 6: was recruited in Los Angeles by Robert Mayhew, then an
- 1:16:17Speaker 6: aide to billionaire Howard Hughes. Previously, Mayhew had operated a
- 1:16:21Speaker 6: CIA front in Washington. According to Roselli, the murdered mobster
- 1:16:28Speaker 6: Samsey and Conna never became involved in the assassination plot.
- 1:16:32Speaker 6: He knew about it. He may have even suggested a
- 1:16:34Speaker 6: Cuban contact, but really nothing more. Again, he was just
- 1:16:39Speaker 6: a backup guy. Roselli identified the CIA project officer in
- 1:16:47Speaker 6: charge of the Castro assassination as Big Jim Big Jim O'Connell.
- 1:16:53Speaker 6: May He put Roselli in contact with O'Connell, as Roselli
- 1:16:56Speaker 6: remembers it, in New York City, on September fourteenth, nineteen sixty,
- 1:17:00Speaker 6: right before the Bay of Pigs. Thereafter, Roselli flew to
- 1:17:05Speaker 6: Miami and recruited the assassination squads. At first, they plotted
- 1:17:10Speaker 6: to poison Castro using poison pellets supplied by the CIA.
- 1:17:14Speaker 6: They were delivered to the plotters in the Miami hotel room,
- 1:17:18Speaker 6: according to Roselli, by Mayhew. He dramatically opened his briefcase,
- 1:17:23Speaker 6: revealing ten thousand dollars in cash and the fatal pellets.
- 1:17:29Speaker 6: The money was distributed to the Cuban plotters. Roselli swore
- 1:17:33Speaker 6: he never took any money from the CIA, except for
- 1:17:35Speaker 6: some incidental expenses. He paid the big expenses he set
- 1:17:40Speaker 6: out of his own pocket. The poison pills were supposed
- 1:17:44Speaker 6: to take three days to work. Supposedly, this would give
- 1:17:48Speaker 6: the poison time to work its way out of Castro's
- 1:17:51Speaker 6: system before he died, and his death would be attributed
- 1:17:53Speaker 6: to natural causes. Roselli never found out what happened to
- 1:17:57Speaker 6: the plotters or the pellets, but they tried right again
- 1:18:00Speaker 6: later with a stronger nose of poison. Not long afterward,
- 1:18:03Speaker 6: reports reached them that Castro was desperately ill. Roselli doesn't
- 1:18:08Speaker 6: know whether the illness was caused by the poison or
- 1:18:10Speaker 6: a virus, but Castro survived and the plotters apparently did not.
- 1:18:17Speaker 6: Rosselli said he also picked up intelligence which he submitted
- 1:18:20Speaker 6: to the CIA both during the Bay of Pigs planning
- 1:18:23Speaker 6: and the later Cuban missile crisis. After the Bay of Pigs,
- 1:18:26Speaker 6: Mayhew was cut out of the plot. Thereafter, Roselli reported
- 1:18:30Speaker 6: directly to the CIA agent known as William Harvey. There
- 1:18:36Speaker 6: were four more assassination attempts. The plotters were smokling into
- 1:18:39Speaker 6: Cuba with high powered rifles. The last assassination squad Rosselli
- 1:18:43Speaker 6: heard made it to Avan rooftop before they were caught.
- 1:18:47Speaker 6: This was around March first, nineteen sixty three. Then the
- 1:18:50Speaker 6: product was abandoned. Roselli saw Harvey for the last time
- 1:18:55Speaker 6: in June of sixty three. Five months later, Lee Harvey
- 1:18:59Speaker 6: Oswald gunned down President Kennedy in Dallas. Allegedly, Oswald had
- 1:19:05Speaker 6: been active in the pro Castro movement. Shortly before that
- 1:19:09Speaker 6: dreadful day in Dallas, Oswald had made a mysterious trip
- 1:19:12Speaker 6: to Mexico, where he visited the Cuban embassy. Allegedly, the
- 1:19:17Speaker 6: Warran Commission found no evidence, however, that Oswald was in
- 1:19:20Speaker 6: the hire of Havana. Yesterday, Roselli made no apology for
- 1:19:25Speaker 6: his CIA role. US authorities call him a bomb my mobster.
- 1:19:30Speaker 6: He regards himself a patriot, patriot, yes, serving his country,
- 1:19:37Speaker 6: his adopted country.
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: Well, I do to be fair, I do think there
- 1:19:43Speaker 1: is some part of that that's true. You know, the
- 1:19:51Speaker 1: first time the CIA enlisted the help of or I
- 1:19:55Speaker 1: guess the OSS. Then the help of the mafia was
- 1:19:59Speaker 1: in curing the docks during World War Two, and I
- 1:20:03Speaker 1: could see how that that narrative can get planted. Which
- 1:20:08Speaker 1: I am an American. I am trying to do what's
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: best for America, whether that's assassinate cash or whatever, whether
- 1:20:17Speaker 1: I break every American law or whatever might be.
- 1:20:20Speaker 6: Psych telling you to do it.
- 1:20:22Speaker 1: Yeah, but I do think that they did probably consider
- 1:20:26Speaker 1: themselves that. Yeah. I came across a couple statements them
- 1:20:32Speaker 1: saying they were patriots.
- 1:20:33Speaker 6: All right. So before we get into the sad, tragic,
- 1:20:37Speaker 6: abrupt death of Johnny Rozelli Joe, let's take a quick
- 1:20:41Speaker 6: break and sell some hot sauce. What do you say, oh, folks,
- 1:20:48Speaker 6: we will be right back in two minutes. Whoa hey, Now,

- 1:22:26Speaker 1: Peace gets me every time.
- 1:22:36Speaker 6: Welcome back, folks. We haven't played that on the showing
- 1:22:40Speaker 6: a very long time, and say a very long.
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: Time, very long time. Some might say the longest time ever.
- 1:22:50Speaker 6: I might say that's a very inappropriate commercial.
- 1:22:57Speaker 1: A couple of comments here, Rob I thought were funny. Uh,
- 1:23:01Speaker 1: Joey Boomer was Rob on the show with Luna.
- 1:23:05Speaker 6: No, Bro, you didn't see look I was see there's proof. Yes, yeah,
- 1:23:14Speaker 6: I mean Joey, Yes true For my allegations, sir, I
- 1:23:25Speaker 6: just highlight.
- 1:23:25Speaker 1: The comments, sir uh, mister Lee, Honestly, how much do
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: you think all the Cuba quote events actually played into
- 1:23:34Speaker 1: the reason for JFK's assassination. So this is a what
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: seems like a simple question, but not a simple answer.
- 1:23:43Speaker 6: Look, I'm gonna tell you from Fidel Castro's perspective. Okay,
- 1:23:55Speaker 6: he took things over dictatorship, you know, wise uh in Cuba,
- 1:24:03Speaker 6: had to bolster himself up. He enlisted the help of
- 1:24:05Speaker 6: the Soviet Union to have his back because he's literally
- 1:24:09Speaker 6: a little a little piss ant compared to the United States,
- 1:24:13Speaker 6: and he's very close to us, you know. I mean,
- 1:24:16Speaker 6: we could turn that thing into a former island in
- 1:24:20Speaker 6: the Gulf of uh Mexico or whatever America whatever it
- 1:24:25Speaker 6: is now, Golf of America, you know. But unfortunately, in
- 1:24:32Speaker 6: doing that, you know, you're gonna kill a lot of
- 1:24:34Speaker 6: innocent people, which is not a good thing either. So
- 1:24:36Speaker 6: it's not like we could just bomb the shit out
- 1:24:38Speaker 6: of him for no reason. But you gotta imagine you
- 1:24:43Speaker 6: put yourself in his position. Okay, you have the American
- 1:24:46Speaker 6: government trying for years to kill you, to enlist your
- 1:24:55Speaker 6: own people to kill you, whether it be overtly, covertly,
- 1:25:06Speaker 6: you know, whatever the case may be, that would piss
- 1:25:10Speaker 6: me off, Joe to the point where, oh, you're gonna
- 1:25:14Speaker 6: try to kill me. Guess what, you know, I might
- 1:25:17Speaker 6: not be able to raise an army and beat the
- 1:25:21Speaker 6: United States at that game, But you know what, maybe,
- 1:25:27Speaker 6: just maybe I could put together a plot to take
- 1:25:30Speaker 6: out you your leader. Just saying it's not out of
- 1:25:34Speaker 6: the realm of possibility, is all I'm saying.
- 1:25:40Speaker 1: No, not out of the realm of possibility, for sure.
- 1:25:43Speaker 1: I also think playing Devil's advocate to that at that point,
- 1:25:49Speaker 1: you know, Castro had already taken control of nineteen fifty nine.
- 1:25:52Speaker 1: You're talking nineteen sixty three. You have a new administration
- 1:25:55Speaker 1: in there with Kennedy doing back channel negotiations to solve
- 1:26:04Speaker 1: this very uh not pleasant situation of a communist nation
- 1:26:11Speaker 1: being off ninety miles off our shore. I could It
- 1:26:16Speaker 1: doesn't also make sense how how Castro would think that
- 1:26:20Speaker 1: any replacement for JFK would be beneficial to him. But it's,
- 1:26:27Speaker 1: like I said, there's a lot of moving parts in
- 1:26:30Speaker 1: this whole thing. Yeah, you have Cuban exiles who are
- 1:26:34Speaker 1: under Batista, who were that felt portrayed by Castro that
- 1:26:39Speaker 1: are now trying to usurp Castro get him out of there.
- 1:26:44Speaker 1: Everyone had their different motives, so it's a very hard
- 1:26:49Speaker 1: kind of situation to digest.
- 1:26:51Speaker 6: For sure, to play devil's advocate to your devil's advocate.
- 1:26:53Speaker 1: Oh, I love it.
- 1:26:54Speaker 6: I find it hard to believe that itty bitty Castro
- 1:27:05Speaker 6: that they could never get rid of him ever ever. Sure,
- 1:27:15Speaker 6: And you got to remember too, the government they made
- 1:27:18Speaker 6: this Neutrality Act where they made it illegal supposedly for
- 1:27:24Speaker 6: these anti cancer Cubans and mercenaries too basically try to
- 1:27:29Speaker 6: go into Cuba on their own and.
- 1:27:32Speaker 1: Do something, confide to county.
- 1:27:37Speaker 6: And I've never understood Guantanamo thing.
- 1:27:41Speaker 1: All right either, man, that's a weird one.
- 1:27:45Speaker 6: Like you know, this is our part of Cuba, and
- 1:27:48Speaker 6: Fidel's cool with it. Like I don't understand.
- 1:27:55Speaker 1: It's a weird one, man. I don't either, to be honest,
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: I think it was a treaty before the time of
- 1:28:02Speaker 1: Castro that maybe they acknowledged. It's a weird one.
- 1:28:08Speaker 6: But yeah, we're gonna put a prison on your island
- 1:28:12Speaker 6: for our worst criminals, you our worst, the worst of
- 1:28:17Speaker 6: the worst.
- 1:28:18Speaker 1: Yeah, to your point, I mean, listen, I think if
- 1:28:24Speaker 1: they wanted Castro out, they could have done it easily.
- 1:28:27Speaker 1: I think the Cuban missile crisis played some type of
- 1:28:31Speaker 1: role in that. And let's not start World War three
- 1:28:34Speaker 1: by getting Russia involved in this proxy war, proxy territory
- 1:28:42Speaker 1: or whatever it's. It takes a lot of years of studying,
- 1:28:50Speaker 1: for sure. But Trey has a good comment here, of course,
- 1:28:57Speaker 1: with Treveport. Howard Hughes Ruby was once arrested in Shreeport
- 1:29:02Speaker 1: for vagrancy. Is it vagrancy the one where you're you know.
- 1:29:12Speaker 6: You're what, you're a boom oh?
- 1:29:16Speaker 1: It doesn't have to do with the homosexuality.
- 1:29:19Speaker 6: No, vagrancy, No, not unless you're a gay boom oh.
- 1:29:25Speaker 1: I always thought that was vagrancy. Maybe I got that wrong.
- 1:29:29Speaker 1: I'm young, you gotn't remember. Vagrancy is not a charge
- 1:29:34Speaker 1: that exists in our time here And when Herr. Hughes
- 1:29:39Speaker 1: was arrested in Sreeport, a policeman allegedly asked him if
- 1:29:42Speaker 1: he was the owner of Hughes Tool Company. Hughes said, quote,
- 1:29:48Speaker 1: if there's a Hughes Tool Company in Streeport, then I
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: own it.
- 1:29:55Speaker 6: And we'll get more into Hughes in the South here
- 1:29:58Speaker 6: a little bit, but back to so. There was an
- 1:30:03Speaker 6: article written in September of seventy six in the Washington
- 1:30:08Speaker 6: Post by Rudy Rudy Maxa and says, until last month,
- 1:30:18Speaker 6: Johnny Rosselli lived comfortably with his sister and brother in
- 1:30:21Speaker 6: law and a Miami suburb. A friend estimated that he
- 1:30:24Speaker 6: earned about twenty five thousand dollars a year from a
- 1:30:27Speaker 6: gift shop that he owned in the lobby of the
- 1:30:30Speaker 6: Las Vegas Frontier Hotel. Not a bad gig. We used
- 1:30:35Speaker 6: to earn money for not having to do shit right.
- 1:30:40Speaker 6: He shrugged last year when his attorney suggested that he
- 1:30:43Speaker 6: hire a bodyguard after the murder of Chicago mobster sam
- 1:30:46Speaker 6: Gy and Conna, his partner in Cia plots to kill
- 1:30:49Speaker 6: Fidel Castro. If anybody wants to kill me at my age,
- 1:30:53Speaker 6: he said, what difference does it make? So we played
- 1:30:57Speaker 6: golf several times a week, sipped white wine with dinner,
- 1:31:00Speaker 6: and until somebody decided Johnny Rozzelli should wind up in
- 1:31:03Speaker 6: the oil barrel in Miami's Dumbfoundling Bay. Considered employment in
- 1:31:06Speaker 6: the new gambling casinos beginning to open up in the
- 1:31:09Speaker 6: oil rich Middle East Dubai. You know the Arab Emirates.
- 1:31:16Speaker 6: That was the well, that's the that's the new, the
- 1:31:19Speaker 6: new new Vegas. So let's see here Wherozelli's killers did
- 1:31:38Speaker 6: not ambush him where Zelli went to them. He went
- 1:31:44Speaker 6: to the plantations at one pm on July twenty eighth,
- 1:31:47Speaker 6: wearing a golf shirt. He had his golf clubs and
- 1:31:50Speaker 6: his trunk. He told his sister he would be home
- 1:31:52Speaker 6: for dinner that afternoon or that afternoon or evening. He
- 1:31:57Speaker 6: was killed, probably by suffocation, perhaps after being tortured. Early
- 1:32:02Speaker 6: reports said his legs were broken heavily chained. Rosselli was
- 1:32:06Speaker 6: stuffed into a fifty five gallon oil drum and dumped
- 1:32:11Speaker 6: into the ocean. Excuse me. His brother in law found
- 1:32:17Speaker 6: Roselli's silver colored nineteen seventy five Chevy Impala several days later,
- 1:32:22Speaker 6: parked at the Miami International Airport, which is a notorious
- 1:32:27Speaker 6: dumping ground to dump vehicles that you don't want found
- 1:32:30Speaker 6: for a while. He dumped at the airport ten days
- 1:32:35Speaker 6: after Roselli's disappearance. Something went wrong. The drum that was
- 1:32:38Speaker 6: meant to keep his death of secret floated to the
- 1:32:41Speaker 6: surface of Dumbfoundling Bay, buoyed by the gases of Roselli's
- 1:32:46Speaker 6: decaying body, the holes in the side of the drum,
- 1:32:50Speaker 6: and the placing of his Chevrolet at the airport, and
- 1:32:53Speaker 6: investigators that his corpse was never meant to be discovered.
- 1:32:57Speaker 6: History was supposed to recall the dapper Johnny Roselle, facing
- 1:33:03Speaker 6: deportation proceedings that the government had threatened off and on
- 1:33:07Speaker 6: for years, decided to disappear on an airplane flight to
- 1:33:10Speaker 6: who knows where. Right. That was supposed to be the
- 1:33:16Speaker 6: supposition that he just disappeared, right, that he made off,
- 1:33:22Speaker 6: and it'd be one of these great mysteries like you know,
- 1:33:25Speaker 6: what happened to Jimmy Hoff never happened to Roselle. You know,
- 1:33:30Speaker 6: they found his car at the airport. He probably went
- 1:33:32Speaker 6: someone in the world, got some plastic surgery, changed his name,
- 1:33:34Speaker 6: and lived a great old life. In reality, he's and
- 1:33:37Speaker 6: stuffed in a barrel at the bottom of Dumbfoundling Bay.
- 1:33:41Speaker 6: Uh cutting up and disposing of bodies is not necessarily
- 1:33:47Speaker 6: new to our department, since the man who directed the
- 1:33:50Speaker 6: search for Roselli's killers, Lieutenant Colonel Minim, head of the
- 1:33:56Speaker 6: Dade County Homicide Squad, is a well muscled UH man.
- 1:34:00Speaker 6: With an aqualine nose that separated a pair of hard
- 1:34:06Speaker 6: blue eyes.
- 1:34:08Speaker 1: Joe kind of like, oh wait, what nose?
- 1:34:12Speaker 6: Aqualine?
- 1:34:13Speaker 1: What does that mean?
- 1:34:16Speaker 6: Like a beak? Okay, I remember, dude had a nose
- 1:34:21Speaker 6: on him, Joe.
- 1:34:23Speaker 1: A lot of the a lot of the Italies.
- 1:34:27Speaker 6: Do I mean look at that thing? Yeah, yeah, he
- 1:34:34Speaker 6: had a nose.
- 1:34:36Speaker 1: It's like the Mona Lisa. That's a surprise.
- 1:34:44Speaker 6: Uh So, let's see. As it turned out, Resili wasn't
- 1:34:51Speaker 6: the first body to float into the annals of Miami.
- 1:34:54Speaker 6: Crime and a drum minim says ten years ago, a
- 1:34:58Speaker 6: lover's quarrel resulted, and then a man stuffing his girlfriend
- 1:35:01Speaker 6: in a drum. Filing was cement and aqua vil was shaving.
- 1:35:04Speaker 6: Look shit, what the fuck is that? The drum was
- 1:35:10Speaker 6: found resting against the dyke and justice was eventually done.
- 1:35:15Speaker 6: We don't appreciate people committing murder and dumping a body
- 1:35:18Speaker 6: in our county, regardless of who the people are, but
- 1:35:21Speaker 6: especially if it's organized crime many of us, says. His
- 1:35:25Speaker 6: department handled one hundred and sixty eight homicides last year,
- 1:35:28Speaker 6: boasted an eighty five percent clearance record. Joe, I'm talking
- 1:35:31Speaker 6: much as good as Captain Fritz.
- 1:35:35Speaker 1: That's a really good clearance record.
- 1:35:40Speaker 6: That Johnny Roselli was destined to walk on the dark
- 1:35:42Speaker 6: side of life. Never seemed in doubt. As a teenager
- 1:35:45Speaker 6: in Houston or I'm sorry, Boston, when his name was
- 1:35:48Speaker 6: Philippo Saco, where Roselli was a runner for the numbers racket.
- 1:35:53Speaker 6: He helped his stepfather burn down his home for the
- 1:35:55Speaker 6: insurance money. He was arrested adage twenty two for stealing
- 1:35:59Speaker 6: twenty five dollars from somebody, and he changed his name
- 1:36:03Speaker 6: to Johnny Rosselli and left for Chicago. It would be
- 1:36:07Speaker 6: forty years until in the late sixties Roselli would see
- 1:36:10Speaker 6: his mother again, though he sent money to his family
- 1:36:14Speaker 6: through an intermediary in Chicago so his sisters could attend college. Well,
- 1:36:18Speaker 6: he's a mobster with a heart of gold, Joe. By
- 1:36:23Speaker 6: the late twenties, Al Capone was well established in Chicago.
- 1:36:26Speaker 6: Politicians and cops were on the Capone payroll, and a
- 1:36:30Speaker 6: young man with the Roselli street savvy had little trouble
- 1:36:32Speaker 6: finding suitable employment. He hired on as a rum runner
- 1:36:36Speaker 6: with a Capone gang, and at age twenty six, Roselli
- 1:36:39Speaker 6: was arrested for selling morphine to an undercover agent, hence
- 1:36:43Speaker 6: the old bugshot we have of him. He was acquitted,
- 1:36:49Speaker 6: though after no one could seem to find the arresting
- 1:36:52Speaker 6: officer or informant in the case. They still haven't been located. Yeah,
- 1:37:02Speaker 6: the arresting officer or and the informant, not just one
- 1:37:05Speaker 6: of the other. So they had to turn Johnny loose. Imagine,
- 1:37:14Speaker 6: I'm sorry.
- 1:37:18Speaker 9: Ah.
- 1:37:28Speaker 6: He was a lover of women, friendly with men of money.
- 1:37:30Speaker 6: He moved to Los Angeles and uh rubbed shoulders with
- 1:37:34Speaker 6: the kings and queens of Hollywood. He wore hand tailored
- 1:37:39Speaker 6: suits and by all accounts, was easy going, mild mannered.
- 1:37:42Speaker 6: He was married for a time to an actress. They
- 1:37:45Speaker 6: had no children. He became a close friend of Harry Cohn,
- 1:37:48Speaker 6: the legendary head of Columbia Pictures. The two men sometimes
- 1:37:52Speaker 6: vacation together, not the gayway, and Rosselli always seemed to
- 1:37:57Speaker 6: know how to place a bet. Should Cohen care wager
- 1:38:00Speaker 6: on a horse that is not double untriumed to talk, folks,
- 1:38:06Speaker 6: that's very literal. According to Bob Thomas's biography of Cone,
- 1:38:11Speaker 6: King Cone the movie Mogul once offered Roselli a job
- 1:38:16Speaker 6: as a producer. In his book, Thomas disguised Rosella's identity
- 1:38:22Speaker 6: at Rosselli's request, what would you pay me, Roselli asked Cone.
- 1:38:26Speaker 6: Five hundred dollars a week. He said, I get that
- 1:38:29Speaker 6: much from waitresses who take bets from me. Roselli has
- 1:38:32Speaker 6: sent it for Requi. Besides being a handyman with the
- 1:38:38Speaker 6: placing of bets. Roselli purchased a twenty six percent interest
- 1:38:42Speaker 6: in a Tijuana racetrack with twenty five thousand Cone had
- 1:38:46Speaker 6: loaned him. Roselli paid him back promptly and included a
- 1:38:50Speaker 6: check for six percent interest. Cone magnanimously tore up the
- 1:38:54Speaker 6: interest check and said, buddy, you don't owe me a
- 1:38:57Speaker 6: fucking dime. Pretty cool. Roselli bought twin star rubies, had
- 1:39:06Speaker 6: them set into rings. Well maybe they were gay, Joe,
- 1:39:10Speaker 6: I don't know. Roseelle bought twin star rubies, had them
- 1:39:16Speaker 6: set in rings, and gave one to Cone, who considered
- 1:39:19Speaker 6: it his most prized possession. Good luck charm until his death.
- 1:39:26Speaker 6: Once when Chicago mobster Willie Buyof moved to Hollywood and
- 1:39:29Speaker 6: again making life miserable for movie studios by shaking down
- 1:39:32Speaker 6: executives in return for labor piece. Roselli stepped in and
- 1:39:36Speaker 6: saved Cone from a lengthy strike. When Cone refused to
- 1:39:40Speaker 6: pay tribute to Buyof in his union, Buyoff tried to
- 1:39:42Speaker 6: halt production at Columbia by calling a sudden strike. Desperate
- 1:39:46Speaker 6: Cone called Roselli, who marched into Buyof's office and confront
- 1:39:49Speaker 6: of the hoodlum who sat behind his desk wearing a
- 1:39:52Speaker 6: hat and coat, chopping on a cigar with a gun
- 1:39:55Speaker 6: resting on the desk in front of Whereseelli said, listen, Willie,
- 1:39:59Speaker 6: I don't know what you're trying to prove, but it
- 1:40:01Speaker 6: isn't gonna work. Damn it. This is a spike thing
- 1:40:04Speaker 6: and you're not going to get away with it. You
- 1:40:06Speaker 6: meet with Cone and get it settled. After that, buy
- 1:40:09Speaker 6: Off back down and called off the pickets. After he
- 1:40:13Speaker 6: was sent to jail for extortion, buy Off cut a
- 1:40:15Speaker 6: deal with the government. With the government and named Roselli
- 1:40:18Speaker 6: as a Chicago monster who had helped him shake down
- 1:40:21Speaker 6: movie studios. So what a backstab and rat that guy was? Uh.
- 1:40:29Speaker 6: When he got out, he returned to Hollywood to make
- 1:40:31Speaker 6: pictures of prison and gangster life, but publicity about a
- 1:40:35Speaker 6: secret appearance before the key of a crime committee ruined
- 1:40:37Speaker 6: his relationship with most studios. The stockholders would scout me
- 1:40:43Speaker 6: Cone Cone told a bitter Roselli it was during his
- 1:40:48Speaker 6: years in the Las Vegas or Los Angeles. In the
- 1:40:50Speaker 6: Las Vegas areas that Rosselli met a man who would
- 1:40:52Speaker 6: make him a household name later in life, as being
- 1:40:55Speaker 6: Robert Mayhew, the ex FBI agent who portrayed a Washington
- 1:40:59Speaker 6: private eye business into a stormy career as Howard Hughes's
- 1:41:02Speaker 6: man in Las Vegas. He approached Roselli on behalf of
- 1:41:06Speaker 6: the CIA in nineteen sixty and of course we covered
- 1:41:09Speaker 6: that pretty good right. Another person Roselli met in that
- 1:41:12Speaker 6: era who would later resurfaced to talk of Roselli, g
- 1:41:15Speaker 6: and Conna and John F. Kennedy was a young party
- 1:41:18Speaker 6: girl named Judith Exner. Campbell. Mayhew and Roselli would later
- 1:41:23Speaker 6: tell Frank Church's Senate Intelligence Committee the details of their
- 1:41:26Speaker 6: plots to co Castro. It was certainly evident to me
- 1:41:31Speaker 6: that Rosselli was able to accomplish things in Vegas when
- 1:41:33Speaker 6: nobody else seemed to get the same kind of attention.
- 1:41:39Speaker 6: Over dinner at the Brown Derby and Beverly Hill sixteen
- 1:41:42Speaker 6: years ago, Mayhew explained to Roselli that his government needed
- 1:41:45Speaker 6: his services. Roselli, who was born July fourth, nineteen oh five,
- 1:41:50Speaker 6: was nothing if not patriotic. He was even born on
- 1:41:52Speaker 6: the fourth of July. WHOA Sam gen Conna once said,
- 1:41:57Speaker 6: just wave a flag and Johnny anywhere, Oh boy, but yeah.
- 1:42:11Speaker 6: Some have speculated that he was killed for talking too
- 1:42:13Speaker 6: much to government investigators. W Roselli was hardly a loudmouth,
- 1:42:17Speaker 6: though in the league of A Joe Velashi, who sang
- 1:42:19Speaker 6: for televised Senate hearings on the Mafia. In sixty three,
- 1:42:23Speaker 6: fourteen years ago, Rozelli confided in his lawyer, Washington attorney
- 1:42:27Speaker 6: Ed Morgan, that he had been told by Cuban sources
- 1:42:30Speaker 6: in Miami that John Kennedy's killing was ordered and arranged
- 1:42:33Speaker 6: by Castro, but he lived with this secret. The day
- 1:42:37Speaker 6: after Roselli's body was scooped from its crude barrel shaped coffin,
- 1:42:44Speaker 6: his brother in law in New Jersey, Peter Cardillo, told
- 1:42:47Speaker 6: me down deep in a way, I probably hope it
- 1:42:50Speaker 6: was connected to the Castro affair. At least then Johnny
- 1:42:53Speaker 6: he would have died for calls and they never did.
- 1:42:57Speaker 6: Find his killers, Joe, maagine.
- 1:42:59Speaker 1: That, Imagine that, And I know it's been rumored that
- 1:43:05Speaker 1: Santo Tropicante had a lot.
- 1:43:08Speaker 6: To do with that. Yes, so I'm going to turn
- 1:43:11Speaker 6: it back over to you so we can talk a
- 1:43:14Speaker 6: little Howard Hughes. Huge.
- 1:43:17Speaker 1: Okay, I'm not going to get too deep into Howard Hughes.
- 1:43:20Speaker 1: I mean, you know, a lot of you guys know
- 1:43:22Speaker 1: a lot about him. So an hour and forty five
- 1:43:27Speaker 1: minutes into this, I'm not going to get too deep
- 1:43:31Speaker 1: into him here. But let's see, Okay, I'm actually going
- 1:43:42Speaker 1: to read a little bit from Robert Mayhew's book in
- 1:43:47Speaker 1: nineteen ninety two. Rob It's called Next to Hughes.
- 1:43:53Speaker 6: I ordered it today on Amazon. Joe, Oh did you yeah?
- 1:43:57Speaker 1: Did you?
- 1:43:58Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 1:43:59Speaker 1: Very cool?
- 1:44:00Speaker 6: Another three dollars purchase on Amazon.
- 1:44:03Speaker 1: Sometimes you can get really good, uh, some really good
- 1:44:06Speaker 1: uh books for a couple of dollars on there. For sure.
- 1:44:14Speaker 11: Let me see, I want second I bring this up here,
- 1:44:32Speaker 11: all right, let me just read like a couple a
- 1:44:35Speaker 11: couple of three seconds of background on mister Howard Hughes
- 1:44:40Speaker 11: before I get into.
- 1:44:43Speaker 1: The weeds here. So Howard Hughes uh was uh born
- 1:44:54Speaker 1: in Houston, ninete you know five. His father was the
- 1:44:57Speaker 1: founder of Hughes Tool Company, which shout out Trey might
- 1:45:01Speaker 1: have had something to do with the Shreveport Tool Company.
- 1:45:08Speaker 1: And essentially he was like kind of like we said earlier,
- 1:45:12Speaker 1: like an Elon mustype, had a bunch of airline contracts
- 1:45:16Speaker 1: and stuff like that. He as a kid and attended
- 1:45:23Speaker 1: private school in Boston before moving to the Thatcher School
- 1:45:28Speaker 1: in California. He was allegedly the brightest student in physics
- 1:45:34Speaker 1: the school had had in years. And let's see, in
- 1:45:44Speaker 1: nineteen twenty five he married his first wife, Houston socialite
- 1:45:50Speaker 1: l Rice, and they moved to Hollywood and then began
- 1:45:55Speaker 1: producing films. A couple Academy Award Women winners, Two Arabian Nights.
- 1:46:06Speaker 6: Super Chat, Joe, Oh, I didn't see that. Yes, thank you,
- 1:46:13Speaker 6: thank you, ten dollars Canadian.
- 1:46:15Speaker 1: Oh, thank you, two blocks on arth and we're rich
- 1:46:17Speaker 1: now ship appreciate it, sir.
- 1:46:20Speaker 6: That's probably like twenty bucks a U as thank you
- 1:46:24Speaker 6: story Canadian. Yeah, I'm got really more than a dollar.
- 1:46:31Speaker 6: I would think.
- 1:46:33Speaker 1: I think it's like close to one to one. Actually,
- 1:46:35Speaker 1: you know what, it's a lust of one to one
- 1:46:38Speaker 1: because I do hockey cards to Canada.
- 1:46:41Speaker 6: But uh nerd alert, Yes, I know, thank you.
- 1:46:47Speaker 1: Yes exactly. But so again, he was a playboy. He
- 1:46:52Speaker 1: had a bunch. He was kind of like the Elon
- 1:46:54Speaker 1: musk hat a bunch of you know, companies. But I
- 1:46:59Speaker 1: thought we get into his gumars because that would be
- 1:47:02Speaker 1: the most interesting.
- 1:47:04Speaker 6: Uh hell got Joe, Damn, He's got a lot of
- 1:47:11Speaker 6: he does.
- 1:47:11Speaker 1: There's a few more so. We have Billy Dove on
- 1:47:15Speaker 1: the front the left hand side there, Bessie Love not
- 1:47:20Speaker 1: to be confused with Dove, and Carol Lombard, who I
- 1:47:26Speaker 1: believe was really famous.
- 1:47:30Speaker 6: Olivia d Hallivan Halin, Captain Hepburn.
- 1:47:34Speaker 1: Korin, Griffith, Ida Lupino, Lilian Bond, uh Ava Gardner, Olivia
- 1:47:44Speaker 1: de Havalande, Jean Tierney. I mean, this dude was killing
- 1:47:49Speaker 1: it and uh uh he really was, for for lack
- 1:47:56Speaker 1: of a better term, kind of like the Elon. When
- 1:48:00Speaker 1: you think of being really wealthy and also having a
- 1:48:03Speaker 1: bunch of real estate and av on aviation and aerospace
- 1:48:10Speaker 1: and aircraft business, I mean we can go into Hughes
- 1:48:14Speaker 1: founded the Hughes Aircraft Company in nineteen thirty two, and
- 1:48:19Speaker 1: you know, and contracts throughout world War two. But that
- 1:48:22Speaker 1: will be kind of boring, almost two hours in. But
- 1:48:27Speaker 1: let me read something earlier, and this is Robert Mayhews
- 1:48:36Speaker 1: what I was referring to earlier and next of Hughes's book.
- 1:48:43Speaker 1: It was when it was then when the CIA conceived
- 1:48:46Speaker 1: the notion to let the mobsters do with themselves. They
- 1:48:48Speaker 1: had a garage against Castro ever since he forced them
- 1:48:51Speaker 1: out of the Havana Casinos. It was rumored that meyer
- 1:48:55Speaker 1: Lansky had put a million dollar bounty on Castro's head.
- 1:49:00Speaker 1: Director Alan Dullas passed the ball to his director Bissell
- 1:49:05Speaker 1: to Colonel efforts, we've gone over that. Mayhew goes on
- 1:49:10Speaker 1: to say, though I'm no saint, I am a religious man,
- 1:49:14Speaker 1: and I knew that the CIA was talking about murder.
- 1:49:17Speaker 1: O'Connell and Edwards contended that it was a war, a
- 1:49:21Speaker 1: just war. They said it was necessary to protect the country.
- 1:49:25Speaker 1: They used the analogy of World War II, and so
- 1:49:35Speaker 1: Roselli's first response to Mayhew's offer was last year, actually me,
- 1:49:43Speaker 1: Roselli said, you want me to get involved with Uncle Sam.
- 1:49:47Speaker 1: The Feds are tailing me wherever I go. They want me.
- 1:49:51Speaker 1: They want to They go to my shirt maker to
- 1:49:54Speaker 1: see if I'm buying things with cash. They go to
- 1:49:57Speaker 1: my tailor to see if I'm using cash. There there
- 1:50:00Speaker 1: always trying to get something on me. Mayhew, are you
- 1:50:03Speaker 1: sure you're talking to the right guy, which I thought
- 1:50:07Speaker 1: was very interesting.
- 1:50:08Speaker 6: And always, you know, than the snake you don't know.
- 1:50:17Speaker 1: Yeah, no, that's exactly right wrong, And so I just
- 1:50:23Speaker 1: want to bring it back. I mean, listen, we're two
- 1:50:25Speaker 1: hours in now. I don't want to get like super
- 1:50:28Speaker 1: into Howard Hughes. He's a very.
- 1:50:32Speaker 6: He was a very rich man.
- 1:50:35Speaker 1: Rich man, a powerful man. Uh, some connections, of course.
- 1:50:42Speaker 1: He hired Mayhew to be his you know, chief of
- 1:50:47Speaker 1: security for lack of a better term, and uh, and
- 1:50:51Speaker 1: that one.
- 1:50:52Speaker 6: He's living in the top floors of casinos in Las Vegas,
- 1:50:56Speaker 6: surrounded by the mafias, the mafioso a coaster and I
- 1:51:02Speaker 6: think he wasn't tied in bed with all this shit too.
- 1:51:11Speaker 1: Yeah, And you know, I think it went back to
- 1:51:16Speaker 1: who is the question? I think it was I unstarted,
- 1:51:24Speaker 1: but it was someone like, what does these mafia plots
- 1:51:28Speaker 1: have to do with the JFK assassination? And I think
- 1:51:32Speaker 1: it's it's the fact that certain aspects of the CIA,
- 1:51:40Speaker 1: parts of the CIA that couldn't operate in their normal ways. Right,
- 1:51:46Speaker 1: so they hired someone like Mayhew, right, or they hire
- 1:51:52Speaker 1: they make Mayhew hire someone like Rosselli to get on
- 1:51:57Speaker 1: the Castro assassination plots, who in turn earn higher anti
- 1:52:02Speaker 1: Castro Cubans. I think that is the biggest thing to
- 1:52:06Speaker 1: take away from it is you have these three factions
- 1:52:09Speaker 1: kind of coming together. You have the CIA and areas
- 1:52:15Speaker 1: of the CIA that can't be.
- 1:52:19Speaker 6: Yeah, because notice Mayhew and Rosselli do not recruit mafioso
- 1:52:23Speaker 6: for this job. Okay, so the CIA uses Mayhew as
- 1:52:31Speaker 6: a cutout. Mayhew uses Cubans as a cutout. Right, some
- 1:52:37Speaker 6: random random Cubans that are expendable. They can pay them
- 1:52:40Speaker 6: ten grand you know, to do this to try to
- 1:52:43Speaker 6: poison Castro. Right, and we're talking big money was floated around.
- 1:52:48Speaker 6: You just mentioned a little bit ago, my Orlansky had
- 1:52:51Speaker 6: put you know what a million dollar bounty on Castro's.
- 1:52:53Speaker 1: Head, Yeah, which is at least ten million today.
- 1:52:56Speaker 6: Yeah. Yeah, you know people, you know you have all
- 1:53:01Speaker 6: of this money changing hands. You know, you got giant
- 1:53:06Speaker 6: mobsters from Gene and Conna to traffic Conte Howard Hughes money,
- 1:53:13Speaker 6: CIA black budget money, and all these people are getting
- 1:53:17Speaker 6: their fingers into it all the way down to all right,
- 1:53:21Speaker 6: lowly Cuban bastard, we'll give you ten thousand dollars to
- 1:53:25Speaker 6: kill them. Yeah. And if you think these guys are
- 1:53:29Speaker 6: scalping off the top of this bounty, you're dead wrong.
- 1:53:33Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, No, that's a great point, Joe. I'm sorry, no,
- 1:53:39Speaker 1: I said, that's a great point. The intermingling of these factions,
- 1:53:43Speaker 1: whether it's you know, elements of the CIA that can't
- 1:53:47Speaker 1: be you know, uh yeah, uh presented, you know that
- 1:53:53Speaker 1: have to be put out through cutouts, right, and the
- 1:53:56Speaker 1: mafia and Cuban exiles. And I think if you explore
- 1:54:00Speaker 1: that that dynamic, I think you're going to get pretty
- 1:54:05Speaker 1: close to what happened in the JFK assassination in my
- 1:54:08Speaker 1: humble opinion.
- 1:54:10Speaker 6: Yeah, and you got to remember too that the CIA
- 1:54:12Speaker 6: is not supposed to be doing any of this shit
- 1:54:14Speaker 6: inside the United States borders. Okay. They are a foreign
- 1:54:20Speaker 6: intelligence gathering agency. That was always has been their charter.
- 1:54:27Speaker 6: They're not supposed to be doing anything domestically, right here
- 1:54:31Speaker 6: you go.
- 1:54:32Speaker 1: Right, But of course jam Wave was kind of like
- 1:54:35Speaker 1: almost like and like didn't didn't apply to the normal
- 1:54:43Speaker 1: rules because oh, we have to have jam wave there
- 1:54:46Speaker 1: because it's the closest to Cuba, and we can't have
- 1:54:49Speaker 1: a place in Cuba, so we have to have it
- 1:54:51Speaker 1: a jam wave, right, So that's kind of how they, yeah,
- 1:54:57Speaker 1: like screwed with the borders in a sense, for lack
- 1:54:59Speaker 1: of a better term.
- 1:55:00Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, but I mean yeah, I mean I think
- 1:55:06Speaker 4: I think these uh, these relationships from CIA, whether it's Harvey,
- 1:55:13Speaker 4: whether it's ROSSELLI, whether it's John Martino and Morales and
- 1:55:19Speaker 4: other Cuban exiles and inner pen I think it was
- 1:55:23Speaker 4: a pretty good, uh.
- 1:55:26Speaker 1: Thumbprint kind of in my opinion of how the type
- 1:55:31Speaker 1: of factions that could have been involved into pulling off
- 1:55:36Speaker 1: an operation like the assassination of JFK.
- 1:55:42Speaker 6: Absolutely, you can definitely see you know the plan anyway,
- 1:55:48Speaker 6: you know. Yeah, all right, since Joe didn't do part
- 1:55:57Speaker 6: of his assignment, I guess I'll wrangle it up here.
- 1:56:00Speaker 6: Hang on, one second, what did I not do?
- 1:56:05Speaker 1: Boxes Oh, the eighty page thing I was supposed to read.
- 1:56:10Speaker 1: I did not read that, though.
- 1:56:13Speaker 6: I wish you did. I'm not stelling for everybody.
- 1:56:17Speaker 1: Since we're bro your your boy played your boy played
- 1:56:21Speaker 1: hockey last night and banked up his.
- 1:56:23Speaker 12: Knee seeing the show though excuses I know, by the way,
- 1:56:32Speaker 12: for Joe's hockey highlights check out members only where.
- 1:56:36Speaker 1: We go into that in depth.
- 1:56:38Speaker 6: Yeah, I trace it earlier than he wants. Uh A
- 1:56:43Speaker 6: Joe Braley number forty seven trading card. Please when it
- 1:56:46Speaker 6: comes I like that.
- 1:56:48Speaker 1: I'll even sign it.
- 1:56:51Speaker 6: That would be That would be dope.
- 1:56:53Speaker 1: I mean, bro, I signed shout Out Alpha sixty six.
- 1:56:56Speaker 1: He brought me at Lancer a band aid like a
- 1:56:59Speaker 1: band aid, and then we signed it Joey Scars so nice.
- 1:57:05Speaker 1: I feel like that's that's similar.
- 1:57:07Speaker 6: All right, So, folks, I'm gonna leave you with this.
- 1:57:11Speaker 6: I heard the authors at least Mark Music. I don't
- 1:57:16Speaker 6: know if I've heard Douglas Wellman talk about this on
- 1:57:19Speaker 6: podcasts before. In this book, I have not. I think
- 1:57:26Speaker 6: I might have read it a very long time ago.
- 1:57:28Speaker 6: It's been out for like twenty years, I think roughly.
- 1:57:32Speaker 6: But this is a book called The Secret Life of
- 1:57:35Speaker 6: Howard Hughes that asserts it Howard Hughes I a crazy, old,
- 1:57:45Speaker 6: weird looking man like this right, that he actually lived.
- 1:57:50Speaker 1: On those look like cement shoes.
- 1:57:55Speaker 6: For another for another fifteen or twenty years, I think
- 1:58:01Speaker 6: into the late eighties or nineties, living a secret life
- 1:58:05Speaker 6: in Alabama. He married a lady and lived with this woman.
- 1:58:14Speaker 6: I don't know if he had access to his money
- 1:58:16Speaker 6: or what probably did, but she ended up I don't
- 1:58:24Speaker 6: know if he told her. She ended up figuring out
- 1:58:26Speaker 6: who he was by just asking questions or things that
- 1:58:31Speaker 6: he was doing or saying. But this is what they allege.
- 1:58:38Speaker 6: Howard Hughes ended up looking like after some plastic surgery
- 1:58:42Speaker 6: and living his life a very simple life. He lived
- 1:58:44Speaker 6: in a trailer in Alabama. Now, I don't know if
- 1:58:50Speaker 6: I believe this or not, but I always love a
- 1:58:53Speaker 6: good story, and this is a good story. So if
- 1:58:59Speaker 6: you're interested in and then something like that, go check
- 1:59:01Speaker 6: out this book called Boxes, The Secret Life of Howard Hughes.
- 1:59:06Speaker 6: I believe he left behind a box for his wife
- 1:59:10Speaker 6: to find, and she turned she let the authors check
- 1:59:14Speaker 6: it out. You know, some of his letters, some of
- 1:59:17Speaker 6: his things from throughout the years, and they put together
- 1:59:21Speaker 6: a very compelling case that possibly Howard Hughes went on
- 1:59:27Speaker 6: to lead a secret life and away from the praying
- 1:59:31Speaker 6: eyes of the public, and a very simple life and
- 1:59:34Speaker 6: a very happy life and died happy old man. So
- 1:59:39Speaker 6: it's interesting. I don't know how true it is, but
- 1:59:41Speaker 6: I'm just throwing it out there.
- 1:59:43Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, I mean it didn't Elon Musk live
- 1:59:49Speaker 1: in like one of those little like boxes for a
- 1:59:52Speaker 1: while with like nothing, probably not very long, No, but
- 1:59:58Speaker 1: he had one of them. But so in that sense
- 2:00:02Speaker 1: you never know.
- 2:00:02Speaker 6: You have a tiny house too, in.
- 2:00:05Speaker 1: That sense you never know. But yeah, I will have
- 2:00:10Speaker 1: to read that. I did not do that eighty pitches
- 2:00:13Speaker 1: of homework.
- 2:00:13Speaker 6: I did not have time. But the first two chapters
- 2:00:17Speaker 6: are free out there. If you just google the book,
- 2:00:20Speaker 6: it'll pop up in the first two chapters. It's like
- 2:00:22Speaker 6: eighty pages of the book are free to read. So
- 2:00:25Speaker 6: if that picture interests, you know, check out the book.
- 2:00:29Speaker 6: But anyway, I think that's going about do us for
- 2:00:32Speaker 6: this evening? Sir?
- 2:00:35Speaker 1: Sure? Welly can I I ask you one question before
- 2:00:37Speaker 1: you go?
- 2:00:39Speaker 6: I suppose I suppose if you must, if.
- 2:00:44Speaker 1: I must, and just wrapping up ROSELLI yeah, no, no
- 2:00:49Speaker 1: pun intended. Who do you think was eventually responsible because
- 2:01:01Speaker 1: he had testified.
- 2:01:03Speaker 6: To the Oh that reminds me, see, I got this
- 2:01:08Speaker 6: something I didn't do.
- 2:01:09Speaker 1: He testified for the first time, he was being called
- 2:01:12Speaker 1: back for the second time, and between the time he
- 2:01:15Speaker 1: was being called back he was found in the barrel
- 2:01:19Speaker 1: or I guess they were looking for him during the
- 2:01:21Speaker 1: time he was supposed to talk the second time. That
- 2:01:25Speaker 1: the is that the autopsy? No, oh, I have that.
- 2:01:30Speaker 6: And this is an FBI report.
- 2:01:33Speaker 1: Okay, I have the autopsy if you want.
- 2:01:36Speaker 6: Well, this is an FBI report from Los Angeles in
- 2:01:40Speaker 6: June of nineteen seventy. And I'll put forth another motive
- 2:01:46Speaker 6: from somebody who might have wanted to kill Roselli. Sure, okay,
- 2:01:51Speaker 6: for a whole totally different reason than the Castro plots
- 2:01:55Speaker 6: and all of that. This is something totally separate.
- 2:01:58Speaker 1: Yeah, And like we talked about earlier, we don't know
- 2:02:01Speaker 1: exactly why he was killed. He could have been killed
- 2:02:03Speaker 1: for a multitude of reasons.
- 2:02:06Speaker 6: Yeah. Now, this was in reference to a report to
- 2:02:09Speaker 6: Special Agent Howard Dodge dated December of nineteen sixty nine
- 2:02:14Speaker 6: in Los Angeles. During the past several months, beginning in
- 2:02:19Speaker 6: the first part of January nineteen seventy, SD redacted CTE
- 2:02:27Speaker 6: has furnished information concerning acts by Roselli to extort money
- 2:02:33Speaker 6: from Mode Dallits. The activities in this connection, as reported
- 2:02:39Speaker 6: by this informant are being set out in full as follows. Now,
- 2:02:44Speaker 6: for those of you who don't know who in the
- 2:02:45Speaker 6: hellmode Dallas is. He was the big swinging dick in
- 2:02:51Speaker 6: Las Vegas when it comes to the mafia and owning
- 2:02:56Speaker 6: Vegas like this guy was the man. Okay, and allegedly
- 2:03:04Speaker 6: Roselli tried to extort him for a lot of money. Okay,
- 2:03:08Speaker 6: check this, oal Joe, this we'll get you killed.
- 2:03:12Speaker 1: Okay, man me or Rosselli Roselli.
- 2:03:18Speaker 6: The informant advised that on January ninth, seventy, nineteen seventy,
- 2:03:22Speaker 6: he received a call from Los Angeles attorney James Katillion.
- 2:03:27Speaker 6: Catilian was half drunk and happy as the federal indictment
- 2:03:31Speaker 6: against him had been dismissed, which charged him with contempt
- 2:03:34Speaker 6: and the illegal possession of the federal grand jury transcripts
- 2:03:37Speaker 6: in the Friars Club card chieving case in Los Angeles
- 2:03:42Speaker 6: that Roselli had been accused of. That's the thing that
- 2:03:46Speaker 6: landed him in prison, Okay, Cantillian told the informant. The
- 2:03:53Speaker 6: Los Angeles Lacos and Ostra hoodlum John Rosselli wanted to
- 2:03:57Speaker 6: see him as soon as possible. He raised a meeting
- 2:04:00Speaker 6: for the informant in Roselli at Contillion's home on Sunday,
- 2:04:04Speaker 6: one eleven seventy. Informant advised that Cantillion resides on Candom Drive,
- 2:04:09Speaker 6: on the corner of Candom and Sunset Boulevard in Beverly Hills, California.
- 2:04:13Speaker 6: The informant met Roselli there at noon. After a short
- 2:04:16Speaker 6: visit with Cantillian, informant and Roselli went to the Tale
- 2:04:21Speaker 6: of the Cock restaurant. Roselli told the informant that he
- 2:04:30Speaker 6: no longer gets any money or help from the Chicago
- 2:04:33Speaker 6: mob since Sam Mooney g and Conna left Chicago and
- 2:04:38Speaker 6: headed to Mexico. So when the heat got on old
- 2:04:44Speaker 6: Sam g and Conna, he got the hell out of
- 2:04:49Speaker 6: Chicago and fled to Mexico. Roselli did, Gian Conna did,
- 2:04:56Speaker 6: That's what That's why I.
- 2:04:57Speaker 1: Thought, you said, okay, yeah.
- 2:05:02Speaker 6: He indicated that when g and Conna left Chicago, he
- 2:05:04Speaker 6: left in such a hurry with all of his money
- 2:05:08Speaker 6: and told the Koshinostra little or nothing of the many
- 2:05:11Speaker 6: deals he was involved in Chicago. Wheroseelli indicated that as
- 2:05:15Speaker 6: a result of the federal prosecution against him in Los Angeles.
- 2:05:18Speaker 6: He now needs financial assistance is an apparently not getting
- 2:05:21Speaker 6: it from the current Chicago leadership. Roselli requested that the
- 2:05:28Speaker 6: informant contact merv Addelson at Rancho La Costra in northern
- 2:05:33Speaker 6: San Diego County and make an appointment for Roselli to
- 2:05:36Speaker 6: have a sit down meeting with Mode Dallats, Whereroselli told
- 2:05:39Speaker 6: the informant, if he is not successful in this, he
- 2:05:41Speaker 6: wants him to go to Vegas and make contact with
- 2:05:44Speaker 6: Yale Cohen and through him arranged for Roselli to meet
- 2:05:47Speaker 6: with Dallats w Hroselli told informant that when the meeting
- 2:05:52Speaker 6: is arranged, he wants the informant to sit in on
- 2:05:55Speaker 6: it with him and to say nothing. Whereroseelli indicated to
- 2:05:59Speaker 6: the informant that he he was going to ask Mode
- 2:06:01Speaker 6: Dallas for thirty five thousand dollars the first time around.
- 2:06:05Speaker 6: He will allow Dalots to arrange for the place and
- 2:06:07Speaker 6: time for the meeting. The informant got the impression that
- 2:06:10Speaker 6: Roselli would have arranged for this meeting with Dallas through
- 2:06:15Speaker 6: George Gordon, but that Gordon is in critical health and
- 2:06:17Speaker 6: he could not contact him. During this meeting with Roselli,
- 2:06:22Speaker 6: informant brought up the subject of Moe Morton, who owns
- 2:06:24Speaker 6: a home in a yacht in San Diego and who
- 2:06:26Speaker 6: is frequent contact with Giancana in Mexico. Roselli confirmed that
- 2:06:31Speaker 6: Morton is in frequent contact with Giancanna and that Morton,
- 2:06:34Speaker 6: Mooney and sid Coorsha Korshak had something going on in Vegas.
- 2:06:40Speaker 6: The informant stated that he was unable to interpret this
- 2:06:42Speaker 6: remark or asked Roselli any questions. Roselli told the informant
- 2:06:46Speaker 6: that if things work right, he will have him go
- 2:06:48Speaker 6: to Mexico to contact Giancana directly for him. Informant advised
- 2:06:54Speaker 6: that he received a call from Los Angeles hood attorney
- 2:06:57Speaker 6: James Cantellion that Roselle wont to meet him at three
- 2:07:01Speaker 6: pm in Cantellion's office.
- 2:07:04Speaker 1: Right, let me.
- 2:07:13Speaker 6: Just keep all the bullshit and get to the juicy part, okay.
- 2:07:17Speaker 6: Roselle totally informant that he intends to ask Dallas like
- 2:07:20Speaker 6: I said this time around, for thirty five thousand cash
- 2:07:22Speaker 6: to help pay his legal fees, and then he was
- 2:07:25Speaker 6: in need of money Whereseelli totally informant the Dallas Dallats
- 2:07:29Speaker 6: owes him or owes them seven hundred and fifty thousand dollars,
- 2:07:35Speaker 6: Whereseelli claims that when Howard Hughes bought the casino and
- 2:07:39Speaker 6: hotels from Moe Dallas's group, where Roselli was instrumental in
- 2:07:43Speaker 6: having Dallas remain on in the management position as an
- 2:07:47Speaker 6: advisor during the transition period. He stated that as a result,
- 2:07:53Speaker 6: Dallas was in a position to skim a great deal
- 2:07:56Speaker 6: of money from the operations of the Desert Inn and
- 2:07:59Speaker 6: the Star Duck. Roselli told informant that as a result
- 2:08:03Speaker 6: of this, he feels Dallots owes him seven hundred and
- 2:08:06Speaker 6: fifty thousand dollars and that four hundred thousand dollars of
- 2:08:09Speaker 6: that belongs to the Chicago mob and the rest belongs
- 2:08:12Speaker 6: to him. He now wants a cash down payment of
- 2:08:15Speaker 6: ten percent thirty five thousand dollars to help him pay
- 2:08:18Speaker 6: his legal fees and the rest as soon as possible,
- 2:08:24Speaker 6: So he's basically strong arming mode Dallits into paying him
- 2:08:31Speaker 6: them sam Gy and Kanna four hundred thousand and him
- 2:08:35Speaker 6: three hundred and fifty thousand dollars for brokering basically a
- 2:08:41Speaker 6: deal between Howard Hughes and Mo Dallats. So when you
- 2:08:47Speaker 6: go strong arm and big swinging dicks in the mob,
- 2:08:50Speaker 6: they don't like that, Joe, they don't, they don't, they
- 2:08:55Speaker 6: don't like.
- 2:08:55Speaker 1: That doesn't tend to work out very well for the No.
- 2:09:01Speaker 6: So there's another possible motive that has nothing to do
- 2:09:05Speaker 6: with the castro plots. I mean, it kind of does,
- 2:09:09Speaker 6: but it kind of doesn't. You know, It's it's outside
- 2:09:12Speaker 6: the realm. So he's desperate for money at this point,
- 2:09:16Speaker 6: you know, in facing jail time, facing deportation, Gene kind
- 2:09:22Speaker 6: of left his ass and went to Mexico. Is like
- 2:09:24Speaker 6: fuck it, you know, fuck everybody, I'm out itches. And
- 2:09:29Speaker 6: so now he's stuck basically trying to blackmail mode Dalits
- 2:09:33Speaker 6: for a hundreds of thousands of dollars. No wow. Again,
- 2:09:41Speaker 6: that possibly, you know, could be the end of him
- 2:09:44Speaker 6: as well.
- 2:09:45Speaker 1: Who knows, right well, it's hard to tell exactly.
- 2:09:49Speaker 6: Maffia ending I would say, right.
- 2:09:53Speaker 1: You know, a great Tony Soprano quote when he talks
- 2:09:58Speaker 1: to his therapist is there are two ways for a
- 2:10:01Speaker 1: guy like me to end up Ninety percent of the time,
- 2:10:06Speaker 1: it's in jail or dead. This is true, and that's
- 2:10:15Speaker 1: just a great quote I thought of. So when Giacana
- 2:10:19Speaker 1: returned from Mexico, I guess he was taken out days before.
- 2:10:29Speaker 1: He was taken out on the night of June nineteenth,
- 2:10:32Speaker 1: seventy five, shortly before he was scheduled to appear before
- 2:10:36Speaker 1: the Church Committee.
- 2:10:38Speaker 6: He should have never came back.
- 2:10:40Speaker 1: He should have not.
- 2:10:41Speaker 6: No, and I don't think they ever forgot who killed
- 2:10:47Speaker 6: him either. No.
- 2:10:50Speaker 1: But in terms of deaths that I don't think are
- 2:10:55Speaker 1: or suspect are not random deaths, and co and ROSSELLI
- 2:11:00Speaker 1: definitely rank up there.
- 2:11:02Speaker 6: Now.
- 2:11:03Speaker 1: Did it have to do exactly with the jfk assassination,
- 2:11:07Speaker 1: I don't know. They were talking to the Church Committee
- 2:11:10Speaker 1: then HCA hasn't really been formed yet, so.
- 2:11:17Speaker 6: It was tangentially related.
- 2:11:20Speaker 1: Yes, you play in dirt, you get dirty. It's a
- 2:11:23Speaker 1: wire quote.
- 2:11:24Speaker 6: I know.
- 2:11:24Speaker 1: I'm pulling them all out here.
- 2:11:26Speaker 6: But he never participated in the castro plots. What you've
- 2:11:32Speaker 6: met this end probably not?
- 2:11:34Speaker 1: Probably not. I one hundred percent agree with you, Yes,
- 2:11:37Speaker 1: So what just fascinating to think of it. If it
- 2:11:43Speaker 1: was like his fellow mobsters, or was it like the CIA,
- 2:11:48Speaker 1: or or some disgruntled other skufuza like it's it's hard
- 2:11:54Speaker 1: to tell when when you've done decades of dirt know,
- 2:12:02Speaker 1: definitely not a wrong death for sure. Well, it's got
- 2:12:05Speaker 1: a ruby cam Ruby.
- 2:12:09Speaker 6: Come on Ruby, Come on Ruby, Ruby, It's time to
- 2:12:13Speaker 6: dance Ruby, come on, come on girl. Okay.
- 2:12:21Speaker 1: Maybe thank you everyone.
- 2:12:25Speaker 6: Yes, thank you everybody for charing. Thank you so much
- 2:12:27Speaker 6: for the all night, very very nice. Business has always probably, uh,
- 2:12:42Speaker 6: it's Wednesday, and thanks friend. Yeah, if you hang on Wednesdays,
- 2:12:50Speaker 6: I'm told, in the name of truth be come a
- 2:12:51Speaker 6: COVID crime comming.
- 2:12:53Speaker 1: Your name of justice.
- 2:12:54Speaker 6: The quotation is it could be used for him or
- 2:12:58Speaker 6: against her. Yes, good night, here's me.
- 2:13:23Speaker 1: See you on Wednesday.
- 2:13:27Speaker 6: Hostel of East Baby
