- 0:02Speaker 1: This is an Unspoiled Network podcast. This is spoil Me,
- 0:09Speaker 1: covering One Piece episodes seven six and seven seven advance
- 0:18Speaker 1: Law the Kind Hearted Man's Final Fight and to be
- 0:23Speaker 1: Free Law's injection shop blasts. In these episodes, we see
- 0:32Speaker 1: the way that Chorrosone risked it all to save Law's
- 0:36Speaker 1: life and how it's a real coincidence that Do Flamingo
- 0:42Speaker 1: gets tricked into thinking he knows exactly where Law is
- 0:46Speaker 1: and bails, and then we come back to our current fight.
- 0:52Speaker 1: Welcome to spoil Me. Welcome to the show everyone. I
- 1:14Speaker 1: am Natasha. Thank you very much to Florian for commissioning
- 1:18Speaker 1: this episode. Florian is here in the chat along with
- 1:22Speaker 1: Sarah fem delighted to have you guys. It has been
- 1:26Speaker 1: a bit since I recorded my last one Piece episode,
- 1:29Speaker 1: so I am glad to be back. Yeah this Uh honestly,
- 1:38Speaker 1: you know, I have my hang ups, as you all
- 1:41Speaker 1: know about the moments in this show where it just
- 1:44Speaker 1: feels like we've got a lot of filler or we're
- 1:47Speaker 1: restating things that don't need to be restated. But this
- 1:50Speaker 1: was one of those times where we come back to
- 1:52Speaker 1: the present and we have kind of a slow like
- 1:55Speaker 1: here's where everybody is and what's going on again, And
- 1:58Speaker 1: I was so grateful for it because in combination of
- 2:02Speaker 1: just being in a flashback, so it would be very
- 2:05Speaker 1: easy for people to forget things, but then also me
- 2:09Speaker 1: having been away for a while and not covering this,
- 2:13Speaker 1: I really would have been a little bit lost. And
- 2:16Speaker 1: so a big part of me was like, good looking out, show,
- 2:19Speaker 1: I appreciate you doing this little recap for me because
- 2:21Speaker 1: I needed that. Oh sorry. Florine in the chat is
- 2:28Speaker 1: mentioning this pop up store that he saw and yeah, guys,
- 2:31Speaker 1: if anybody out there is interested in seeing the instagram
- 2:36Speaker 1: for the for the show the Unspoiled, I think it's
- 2:40Speaker 1: at Unspoiled Show or Unspoiled on Instagram. There was a
- 2:46Speaker 1: pop up shop that did a one piece theme in Houston,
- 2:52Speaker 1: and I thought that they weren't going to be there
- 2:55Speaker 1: anymore by the time we went down, but they were
- 2:58Speaker 1: and they I posted video. It is one of the
- 3:03Speaker 1: most impressive things I have ever seen, like for a
- 3:09Speaker 1: commercial like retail venue, they really went hard. They built
- 3:17Speaker 1: whole fake walls in front of their reel walls and
- 3:19Speaker 1: there are like led screens behind the fake windows, so
- 3:23Speaker 1: it looks like you're looking out underwater because they've got
- 3:26Speaker 1: video of like fish swimming by and playing and stuff.
- 3:30Speaker 1: It was remarkable. They had all of this lighting up
- 3:33Speaker 1: on the ceiling and the music playing, and they had
- 3:37Speaker 1: like all of this one piece gear to buy. And unfortunately,
- 3:41Speaker 1: by the time I got to visit, it was at
- 3:44Speaker 1: the tail end, right before they wrapped up the whole thing,
- 3:46Speaker 1: because they had had it going for like two months
- 3:48Speaker 1: this theme and all of the stuff that was of
- 3:52Speaker 1: like more popular characters was sold out. So I was
- 3:56Speaker 1: really looking for like some specific wanted post posters and stuff,
- 4:00Speaker 1: and they were already gone.
- 4:02Speaker 2: It was very funny, though, guys, because.
- 4:04Speaker 1: I went with my friend Sydney and their friend, uh, Misty,
- 4:09Speaker 1: who is now my friend. We've gotten to know each other.
- 4:11Speaker 1: I quite like Misty, but miss was like like talking
- 4:17Speaker 1: the entire way down about how much they love Vivi
- 4:22Speaker 1: and how they like cosplay viv and they wanted the
- 4:25Speaker 1: wanted poster of Vivi and you guys know that, like
- 4:29Speaker 1: I just don't see it for viv at all, and
- 4:32Speaker 1: I just didn't say anything. It was one of the
- 4:34Speaker 1: most difficult things of my life, but I kept my
- 4:39Speaker 1: thoughts to myself and didn't rain on her viv parade,
- 4:44Speaker 1: and it was very funny. Later on, I mentioned to Sydney, like,
- 4:49Speaker 1: I like Vivi's a character that I just do not like,
- 4:53Speaker 1: and Sydney started cracking up because evidently Missed has a
- 4:59Speaker 1: thing for like kind of princess energy characters. So they
- 5:03Speaker 1: were unsurprised to find out because Sydney has watched someone
- 5:07Speaker 1: piece but not all of it, and doesn't know characters
- 5:09Speaker 1: like straight up by name unless they're part of the
- 5:11Speaker 1: straw has So it was just a funny bit of
- 5:14Speaker 1: me kind of just like nodding along and trying to
- 5:18Speaker 1: be encouraging about a thing that I was personally going, no,
- 5:22Speaker 1: what why? Seraphim says the opposite of the Willy Wonka Disaster,
- 5:30Speaker 1: It's not really the same thing because the Willy Wonka
- 5:32Speaker 1: Disaster was like an event that people bought tickets for,
- 5:36Speaker 1: and the pop up shop they call it a pop
- 5:39Speaker 1: up shops if the shop disappears, but it's it's a
- 5:41Speaker 1: permanent location for a shop that does themes like repeatedly,
- 5:50Speaker 1: So it's not really a fair comparison because their shop
- 5:53Speaker 1: was always gonna be there. There was always gonna be product.
- 5:55Speaker 1: It was always gonna like be something unlike the Willy
- 5:58Speaker 1: Wonka thing, which I feel like I want to do
- 6:01Speaker 1: an episode about these events, guys, because just I'm so sorry.
- 6:06Speaker 1: I will start talking about the show in a second.
- 6:09Speaker 1: But y'all, the event planning business Sydney came into some
- 6:17Speaker 1: money and they want to start an event planning business
- 6:19Speaker 1: with me, which of course you all know that I
- 6:21Speaker 1: am one hundred percent wholly on board, and we have
- 6:24Speaker 1: been doing some investigations. Part of the reason I went
- 6:27Speaker 1: to Houston was for a ticketed event, and while I
- 6:32Speaker 1: was down there, I found out that the company doing
- 6:34Speaker 1: the event, as well as some other events that came
- 6:38Speaker 1: up later, are all scamming people. And it's like just
- 6:44Speaker 1: a thing, and it's like there is so much tea,
- 6:50Speaker 1: there's so much to you guys. So anyway, I am
- 6:53Speaker 1: going to probably talk about that somewhere, but I have
- 6:56Speaker 1: to be careful because I want to do this event
- 6:59Speaker 1: planning business with Sydney, and I do not want to
- 7:02Speaker 1: be out here looking like I'm trying to tank competition
- 7:06Speaker 1: or something, you know. I don't want to look like that.
- 7:09Speaker 1: But there are people that are out here just straight
- 7:11Speaker 1: line to folks and still managing to sell hundreds of
- 7:14Speaker 1: tickets and it's just mind blowing to me. So uh.
- 7:18Speaker 1: Serafhum says Vibe tends to be extremely popular, number twenty
- 7:21Speaker 1: one in the semi recent Worldwide Popularity Poll. I don't
- 7:25Speaker 1: get it, man, I just fucking don't.
- 7:27Speaker 2: I just don't.
- 7:28Speaker 1: Maybe I need to go back and rewatch it. Maybe
- 7:31Speaker 1: if I went back after everything, I would feel a
- 7:34Speaker 1: little friendly er toward Viviy. It's possible that I would
- 7:38Speaker 1: have a different attitude, because that can happen. Man. I
- 7:40Speaker 1: have had total like heel turns on characters on a
- 7:43Speaker 1: second watch or read of things. So maybe I should
- 7:47Speaker 1: do it, but I just currently am like, really, there
- 7:51Speaker 1: are so many other more fun What Florine asked, was
- 7:56Speaker 1: the food and drinks any good? And it was okay.
- 8:01Speaker 1: The presentation was very good, the food itself very I
- 8:06Speaker 1: would probably say it was go so far as to
- 8:08Speaker 1: say it wasn't good, But I honestly was so deeply
- 8:13Speaker 1: impressed with the aesthetic and how hard they committed that
- 8:17Speaker 1: I was fine with it. And you guys know how
- 8:20Speaker 1: important food is to me. That's how good the aesthetic was.
- 8:24Speaker 1: If they had done a sloppier job with the one
- 8:27Speaker 1: piece theme. I think the food, being as lackluster as
- 8:32Speaker 1: it was, would have counted against the overall event a
- 8:35Speaker 1: lot more. But they just really fucking went for it
- 8:40Speaker 1: and there was like special lighting setups and it was
- 8:44Speaker 1: really something. So yeah, the food was I got a
- 8:49Speaker 1: They had a couple of different things that are specific,
- 8:54Speaker 1: like those sakura balls that are almost like mochi, but
- 8:58Speaker 1: they're apparently like chewier, and they were so chewy it
- 9:03Speaker 1: was wild. They also had a little like waffle fish
- 9:07Speaker 1: that are stuffed with some sweet I can't remember the
- 9:12Speaker 1: name of the but anyway, sorry, but my favorite thing
- 9:16Speaker 1: was a giant banana split and they had the flags
- 9:20Speaker 1: to stick into the ice cream to make it look
- 9:22Speaker 1: like Buggies sail with like the Jolly Roger on it
- 9:26Speaker 1: and whatnot, and so that was awesome. That was really
- 9:30Speaker 1: the main thing I wanted. And themed drinks. They I
- 9:33Speaker 1: had a devil fruit shaped in a fruit shaped cup
- 9:37Speaker 1: that had like a waterproof light in it with the
- 9:42Speaker 1: ice cubes, so there was light shining out of my drink.
- 9:45Speaker 1: And my friend had got like the three Sword style drink,
- 9:51Speaker 1: which had like three little tiny swords in it.
- 9:53Speaker 2: It was adorable.
- 9:54Speaker 1: So anyway, all had to say, I had a great time,
- 10:00Speaker 1: and I really do like I'm glad I got to
- 10:03Speaker 1: go down there and see it because it's just a
- 10:07Speaker 1: fun like little's. I am enjoying seeing one Piece popping
- 10:14Speaker 1: up places and like feeling like now I'm enough into
- 10:18Speaker 1: the series that I get more, because you guys know,
- 10:22Speaker 1: I enjoyed One Piece right away and was pretty much
- 10:25Speaker 1: like on board, except for having my hang ups about
- 10:28Speaker 1: certain things. I was always just like, this show is
- 10:30Speaker 1: a delight, but there was so much about the fandom
- 10:36Speaker 1: that felt like I can't even touch it yet it's
- 10:38Speaker 1: too spoilery, and so I'm really enjoying now feeling like
- 10:46Speaker 1: it's not totally safe. There were definitely some characters at
- 10:49Speaker 1: this event I didn't recognize people that will come up later,
- 10:52Speaker 1: I'm sure, but it just feels like I'm more of
- 10:57Speaker 1: a part of it now. And yeah, just a great time.
- 11:02Speaker 1: So thank you guys for getting me into this fandom.
- 11:06Speaker 1: So okay, okay, let's begin with Advanced Law The kind
- 11:10Speaker 1: Hearted Man's final fight. We pick up where we had
- 11:17Speaker 1: left off with Corrosone, who is trying to find a
- 11:22Speaker 1: way to sneak Law out of here, and he has
- 11:28Speaker 1: already fed Law the fruit and now wants to do
- 11:33Speaker 1: a kind of distraction and ensure that Law manages to
- 11:37Speaker 1: get off the island without catching do Flamingo's attention. So
- 11:44Speaker 1: we open up with this guy yelling into one of
- 11:47Speaker 1: the navy Oh my god, the transponder snails, and he's saying, like,
- 11:56Speaker 1: there's no describing this. The pirates have gone insane.
- 11:59Speaker 2: It's a mass.
- 12:00Speaker 1: They're screaming and cutting each other down, and they're like,
- 12:06Speaker 1: we have a few different moments of like the what
- 12:11Speaker 1: do you call thems, the strings coming down and trapping
- 12:15Speaker 1: people in certain areas, and folks just yelling about how like, oh,
- 12:20Speaker 1: it's a raid. It's the dome Quixote family. I really
- 12:24Speaker 1: do like seeing in the subtitles the different pirates when
- 12:28Speaker 1: they speak get labeled by their letters Pirate J, Pirate B.
- 12:34Speaker 1: And I forget that this is a thing because I
- 12:39Speaker 1: am currently watching this from crunchy roll, and I don't
- 12:44Speaker 1: remember if Hulu had the same kinds of subtitles. But
- 12:50Speaker 1: I like to think about what the script must look like,
- 12:52Speaker 1: and it must be kind of bonkers how many different
- 12:56Speaker 1: people they'll have talking at any given time because there's
- 12:58Speaker 1: so much crowd work happen in this show. So this
- 13:06Speaker 1: guy is trying to explain to Do Flamingo where his
- 13:12Speaker 1: devil fruit is, and Do Flamingo does not want to
- 13:15Speaker 1: hear it and just.
- 13:17Speaker 2: Shoots the guy.
- 13:18Speaker 1: Meanwhile, all of his minions are off loading up all
- 13:21Speaker 1: of this treasure. And later on, what Corasone does is
- 13:27Speaker 1: he stuffs law into a treasure chest and is like,
- 13:32Speaker 1: there is no way pirates are going to leave this
- 13:34Speaker 1: island and not take every chest with them.
- 13:38Speaker 2: And I was sort of.
- 13:41Speaker 1: Like, aren't they going to try and open it to
- 13:43Speaker 1: see it? But I could see just like you pick
- 13:45Speaker 1: it up, it's got stuff in it. Maybe if it's
- 13:48Speaker 1: locked and we don't have time to bust it open,
- 13:50Speaker 1: we're just gonna take it without opening it because who cares,
- 13:53Speaker 1: you know.
- 13:54Speaker 2: I sort of rethought that. So Do Fla.
- 14:01Speaker 1: Mingo is sitting there looking at the gun in his
- 14:04Speaker 1: hand that he just used to shoot the man who
- 14:07Speaker 1: lost his double fruit, and we get the flashback between
- 14:18Speaker 1: Do Flamingo and It's Virga because he's got a whole
- 14:23Speaker 1: half of a loaf of bread stuck to his face.
- 14:26Speaker 1: Virgo and mucus man I cannot remember his name, sorry, guys, trouble.
- 14:34Speaker 1: And he is looking at Do Flamingo and saying like, oh,
- 14:38Speaker 1: you are the one who knocked everybody out, huh, then
- 14:40Speaker 1: you must have some really powerful hockey. And then he
- 14:51Speaker 1: is yelling at his father, why why did you take
- 14:56Speaker 1: my power from me? Now, when he says to his father,
- 15:06Speaker 1: why did you take my power from me? I'm assuming
- 15:08Speaker 1: that he just means why did we have to leave
- 15:13Speaker 1: our home where we were looked after and all of
- 15:17Speaker 1: that stuff? Correct me if I'm wrong, guys. This isn't
- 15:20Speaker 1: like somebody actually managed to take his hockey away. But
- 15:26Speaker 1: he is yelling at his father, we have to like
- 15:30Speaker 1: live in this mess that you put us in unless
- 15:33Speaker 1: I take your head back to the Holy Land. And
- 15:37Speaker 1: it's interesting because I don't know if it's again a
- 15:39Speaker 1: translation thing, but I don't remember them calling home the
- 15:43Speaker 1: Holy Land, but I felt like that was it sort
- 15:47Speaker 1: of changed the tone of things because I keep forgetting
- 15:49Speaker 1: there basically asserting their gods, which is what monarchy just
- 15:53Speaker 1: fucking is right. And his father is like holding Chorrasson
- 16:00Speaker 1: and comforting him and has his back to Do Flamingo.
- 16:06Speaker 1: And he says, you have a very foolish father. I'm sorry,
- 16:13Speaker 1: and do Fla Mingo. It's like the fact that his
- 16:17Speaker 1: father just didn't offer any way to fix things, didn't
- 16:23Speaker 1: really like he said I'm foolish, but he didn't say
- 16:28Speaker 1: I've made a mistake and here's how I'm going to
- 16:31Speaker 1: fix it. He just is like, my bad. I kind
- 16:38Speaker 1: of think that's really what pushes do Fa Mingo over
- 16:41Speaker 1: the edge there. Honestly, it's not just that, like you
- 16:49Speaker 1: fucked up, but it's this weird.
- 16:54Speaker 2: There's like an attitude problem in it.
- 16:57Speaker 1: Does that make sense? I don't really know how better
- 16:59Speaker 1: to say this and do Flamingo's choosing to pull the trigger,
- 17:05Speaker 1: Don't get me wrong, is still absolutely insane. Behavior like
- 17:12Speaker 1: shooting your own father and just hoping that's going to
- 17:14Speaker 1: be enough.
- 17:15Speaker 2: For them to take you back is crazy work.
- 17:18Speaker 1: So I am by no means trying to be like
- 17:20Speaker 1: I get it, Dophie. But it's just his father keeps
- 17:27Speaker 1: misunderstanding what do Flamingo is so anxious and upset about,
- 17:35Speaker 1: and he keeps just like he's just out here making
- 17:42Speaker 1: moves over and over without really having the information necessary.
- 17:47Speaker 1: So here when he's just like, oh, I'm very foolish. Honestly,
- 17:52Speaker 1: even to me, it just felt so inadequate as a statement.
- 17:56Speaker 1: It was just not enough, you know, I was I
- 18:00Speaker 1: really did feel like that's it. And I'm not even
- 18:04Speaker 1: as mad at.
- 18:04Speaker 2: Him as Dophie is.
- 18:06Speaker 1: And I was irritated, so I can only imagine how
- 18:11Speaker 1: Dophie is feeling. And you know, we have like the
- 18:19Speaker 1: way that do Flamingo is sitting there looking at this gun,
- 18:23Speaker 1: which now that he has grown, this gun is huge
- 18:28Speaker 1: when he was a kid, and now the whole thing
- 18:31Speaker 1: like fits in the palm of his hand. It's like
- 18:33Speaker 1: basically nothing. But there is a sense of like regret
- 18:40Speaker 1: in him, and I'm not sure it's valid. I think
- 18:43Speaker 1: like it may be more I regret the events that
- 18:49Speaker 1: have happened more than I regret having done a thing.
- 18:55Speaker 1: You know. I feel like it's very possible to say
- 18:59Speaker 1: that you were regret something in a way that makes
- 19:03Speaker 1: it sound as if you had nothing to do with
- 19:05Speaker 1: the events, in a very passive and I think that's
- 19:08Speaker 1: the way.
- 19:08Speaker 2: That he would choose to approach it.
- 19:11Speaker 1: But so like I'm not saying when I claim he
- 19:16Speaker 1: is regretful, I'm not really saying that I think do
- 19:19Speaker 1: Flamingo would wishes he made a different choice. I think
- 19:24Speaker 1: he is having more of a moment of like, I
- 19:28Speaker 1: keep being let down by my family. I don't believe
- 19:33Speaker 1: he's taking like responsibility for the things. I think he
- 19:40Speaker 1: feels like he has unfairly been put in this position
- 19:45Speaker 1: more than once, and how everybody out there sucks but him,
- 19:49Speaker 1: you know. So eventually Corasone jumps out and just starts
- 19:56Speaker 1: waving his arms at Gladias to be like hey, oh year,
- 20:01Speaker 1: and Gladias really falls for it. This is one of
- 20:04Speaker 1: those things that in this scenario, and honestly in a
- 20:09Speaker 1: lot of scenarios probably where you're dealing with people who
- 20:13Speaker 1: aren't too bright, I could see this working. But I
- 20:18Speaker 1: still definitely had a moment of like, bruh, if somebody
- 20:21Speaker 1: jumps out and yells hey over here, don't pay attention
- 20:25Speaker 1: to them because they aren't trying to just like help
- 20:30Speaker 1: you find them to kill them. Obviously, this is a setup.
- 20:35Speaker 1: This is a whole distraction. But Gladias as dope ass
- 20:40Speaker 1: as his whole costume and look is which tricks me
- 20:43Speaker 1: into thinking that he is competent. I have to remember
- 20:46Speaker 1: he's not.
- 20:48Speaker 2: So. Meanwhile, inside his.
- 20:54Speaker 1: Little chest that he's been stuck into, Law is like
- 20:58Speaker 1: trying to get out. He can't open in the lid.
- 21:00Speaker 1: He can hear stuff going on outside, and we find
- 21:05Speaker 1: out a little bit later that Korra put his calm
- 21:11Speaker 1: spell on it so that no matter what kind of
- 21:14Speaker 1: noise Law made while inside the box, nobody would be
- 21:17Speaker 1: able to hear him. And this way he isn't going
- 21:22Speaker 1: to be found in there. While this is asterisk here,
- 21:27Speaker 1: Cora is still alive. Later on, I was so glad
- 21:33Speaker 1: that he said this out loud because it didn't occur
- 21:35Speaker 1: to me. But when Corera gets really injured, he's thinking, like,
- 21:39Speaker 1: I just have to hold on a little bit longer.
- 21:42Speaker 1: And I thought that he was that he still had
- 21:45Speaker 1: something that he wanted to do with Law, that he
- 21:48Speaker 1: had like a sort of plan in mind somehow, and
- 21:52Speaker 1: it really like the plan is in motion. That part
- 21:57Speaker 1: is done. But when he's saying I need to stay
- 21:59Speaker 1: a lot, what he means is the second I die,
- 22:06Speaker 1: this kid's gonna be heard by people and will be found.
- 22:14Speaker 1: So he is just trying to stay alive to make
- 22:16Speaker 1: sure that his devil fruit power saves Law, and that
- 22:22Speaker 1: law doesn't get found. I was so touched by that
- 22:27Speaker 1: the moment I realized what it was he was staying
- 22:30Speaker 1: alive for, just to be sure that his power was
- 22:32Speaker 1: still working. I like Cora is probably one of the
- 22:40Speaker 1: most badass characters of the show in terms of his
- 22:46Speaker 1: overall like ethics and willingness to work against his brother
- 22:52Speaker 1: on the DL, how much he has risked over and
- 22:55Speaker 1: over again, and then the way he goes out here
- 23:00Speaker 1: like that is serious, you know what I'm saying, Like,
- 23:07Speaker 1: I can't think of another character who played the long
- 23:13Speaker 1: game being a good guy in this way against his
- 23:18Speaker 1: own family. This is just a really I don't know.
- 23:24Speaker 2: He is a.
- 23:27Speaker 1: Really particular character, and I am very sad that he
- 23:33Speaker 1: is dead. He gets the shit beaten out of him
- 23:37Speaker 1: by the way, like they're tossing him around, they're hitting
- 23:40Speaker 1: him with baseball bats. There's like everybody is just taking
- 23:45Speaker 1: a hit because they know we need to get him,
- 23:49Speaker 1: like our master wants him. So we can fuck with
- 23:52Speaker 1: him a little bit, But we can't let him die
- 23:55Speaker 1: because his brother needs to see him. We can't kill
- 23:57Speaker 1: him before his brother sees him. And I had forgotten
- 24:03Speaker 1: that he the whole time that he is with their crew.
- 24:07Speaker 1: He behaves as if he can't talk, so like he's
- 24:12Speaker 1: taunting them and stuff, and they're like, wait, what you
- 24:15Speaker 1: can talk. I had completely forgotten about him faking this,
- 24:21Speaker 1: and it like reminder, he's not just faking this to them,
- 24:24Speaker 1: he is faking this to his own brother as well.
- 24:27Speaker 1: I do not believe that Do Flamingo had an inkling
- 24:32Speaker 1: that he could speak. I thought Do Flamingo was being
- 24:36Speaker 1: fooled just like everybody else, and that is like a
- 24:40Speaker 1: hell of a fucking flex to be able to pull
- 24:43Speaker 1: that off. So yeah, he's getting the shit beat out
- 24:47Speaker 1: of him. Meanwhile, a law is having to listen to
- 24:50Speaker 1: all of this, and then finally here comes Do Flamingo.
- 24:54Speaker 1: He's been summoned and he is looking down on his
- 24:57Speaker 1: brother and he has like no expression on his face whatsoever.
- 25:06Speaker 1: He's just staring while Coora is sitting there covering in blood, gasping,
- 25:11Speaker 1: teeth missing, and he starts crying and remembers like Sengoku
- 25:19Speaker 1: coming up to him and being like, so, wait, you
- 25:22Speaker 1: have nowhere to go. You're safe with us. And I
- 25:26Speaker 1: was a little bit curious, guys, because I don't know
- 25:29Speaker 1: that we saw how exactly this.
- 25:32Speaker 2: Worked, but.
- 25:36Speaker 1: We see him with his father and Dofie. Dophie shoots
- 25:42Speaker 1: his dad. That flashback ends, we come to the present,
- 25:46Speaker 1: and then we jump back into the past and it's
- 25:48Speaker 1: Sengoku saying, oh, so you have nowhere to go, But
- 25:52Speaker 1: we don't see what happens between. So I'm assuming that
- 25:57Speaker 1: like Cora ran away because Dofie he was, had killed
- 26:01Speaker 1: their father and understand play.
- 26:04Speaker 2: Korra was just like, I want no parts of this.
- 26:07Speaker 1: That's my assumption here, but like just you know, wanting
- 26:12Speaker 1: to be clear that I do not. There's no connective
- 26:16Speaker 1: tissue between these scenes. So there was a big part
- 26:20Speaker 1: of me that sort of went, wait, hold on, wait
- 26:22Speaker 1: what But that's you know, how he wound up doing
- 26:26Speaker 1: something that's like totally separate from Dopa Mingo apparently. So
- 26:32Speaker 1: now on the ground, he pulls out this gun and
- 26:37Speaker 1: he points it at Do Flamingo and he uh said,
- 26:43Speaker 1: he says, like the marine code and commander from h Q,
- 26:47Speaker 1: Captain of the don Quixote family, I've been working undercover
- 26:52Speaker 1: to prevent a tragedy of your making.
- 26:55Speaker 2: That has been my mission.
- 26:57Speaker 1: I took as a marine and everybody is just casp
- 27:06Speaker 1: reminder too, like Law is hearing all of this as well,
- 27:09Speaker 1: because they're these trunks and boxes are all piled up,
- 27:15Speaker 1: and that's.
- 27:15Speaker 2: What he's leaning against.
- 27:17Speaker 1: And he says, I lied to you. I'm sorry. I
- 27:22Speaker 1: didn't want to make you hate me, and Law is
- 27:27Speaker 1: inside the trunk saying like, h why is he saying this?
- 27:32Speaker 1: But I already knew, didn't I. So clearly this is
- 27:35Speaker 1: meant to be for laws benefit. Dophie says, I don't
- 27:43Speaker 1: have any fucking patience left. You better answer my questions.
- 27:47Speaker 1: Where's the apop fruit?
- 27:49Speaker 2: Where is Law?
- 27:50Speaker 1: And he has to be like, oh the fruit that's gone,
- 27:54Speaker 1: Law ate it, and everybody is just like, oh, you
- 27:59Speaker 1: done fucked up now, and he says that's how he
- 28:05Speaker 1: was able to get out of the cage, and I
- 28:08Speaker 1: bet the Navy's already taken him into protective custody so
- 28:11Speaker 1: he is safe from you. And as they are as
- 28:18Speaker 1: he is saying this, baby five and Buffalo swoop in
- 28:23Speaker 1: and say the Navy took a boy into custody and
- 28:28Speaker 1: he's like, why don't you tell me? And they're like,
- 28:30Speaker 1: we got here as fast as we could. Now. Of course,
- 28:34Speaker 1: this line's right up with what Krason was telling them,
- 28:37Speaker 1: but he doesn't know who it is that they've got
- 28:39Speaker 1: in custody, so he's very much like, wait, what, Oh, well,
- 28:44Speaker 1: I guess that's lucky. And we see a moment of
- 28:49Speaker 1: like a chin sticking out from underneath a blanket that
- 28:53Speaker 1: the Navy is putting on like around a kid's shoulders.
- 28:58Speaker 1: There is a band aid his cheek and like an
- 29:01Speaker 1: ex mark on his chin, And I don't know if
- 29:04Speaker 1: this is supposed to signal a character that we have
- 29:07Speaker 1: meant that I'm supposed to recognize this scar on his face,
- 29:10Speaker 1: or if it's setting the table for a character that
- 29:12Speaker 1: we will eventually meet later and the scar on his face,
- 29:14Speaker 1: I'm going to be like, Oh, that's the guy that
- 29:16Speaker 1: was you know, if we have seen already who they
- 29:21Speaker 1: took into custody and I have forgotten. Apologies, but it
- 29:23Speaker 1: has been a few weeks since I saw the last episodes,
- 29:26Speaker 1: so so ooh, I'm sorry, I'm looking in the chat
- 29:34Speaker 1: the full name is the Holy Land Mariegeois okay, Florine
- 29:39Speaker 1: agrees Cora as a true MVP, and Seraphim says yeah.
- 29:42Speaker 1: Needless to say, Cora is also one of the most
- 29:43Speaker 1: popular characters in this series thirteen. In the aforementioned popularity poll,
- 29:49Speaker 1: it was mentioned earlier that Cora had been gone for
- 29:52Speaker 1: several years before coming back to join his brother. It's
- 29:56Speaker 1: ex Drake, one of the Sabaodi pirates, the guy who
- 29:59Speaker 1: turned into a dinosaur.
- 30:00Speaker 2: His father was the head of the pirates. Dove he
- 30:02Speaker 2: killed here.
- 30:03Speaker 1: Oh, I remember Drake, but I would never have like
- 30:09Speaker 1: put that together, so thank you. I am curious on
- 30:14Speaker 1: that list of like most popular, where does h oh
- 30:20Speaker 1: my god, the rooster fall? You know, the man eater
- 30:24Speaker 1: the troll, because he I just enjoy so deeply that
- 30:30Speaker 1: I feel like I want him to be quite high
- 30:32Speaker 1: up on the list.
- 30:34Speaker 2: But what can you do?
- 30:38Speaker 1: So at this point do Flamingo says, all right, well,
- 30:43Speaker 1: I'm gonna undo the bird cage that you guys can
- 30:45Speaker 1: go and check on that kid and see who he is,
- 30:48Speaker 1: because we really need to scoop him up. And Cora,
- 30:53Speaker 1: for his own part, is just like, wow, I don't
- 30:56Speaker 1: know what happened, but thank you Providence for all of this.
- 30:59Speaker 1: We're out so that they are being distracted, and uh,
- 31:05Speaker 1: he says to Law like, if you find him, what
- 31:07Speaker 1: are you even going to do with him? And Dophie says, well,
- 31:11Speaker 1: if he ate the ap up fruit, he needs to
- 31:14Speaker 1: be educated properly so that he can die for me.
- 31:20Speaker 1: And Law just gets this expression on his face inside
- 31:23Speaker 1: the thing, which I really do appreciate that he gets
- 31:25Speaker 1: to hear exactly what's planned, so there's no chance of
- 31:30Speaker 1: him being tricked back into working with him somehow. And
- 31:36Speaker 1: then he pulls out his own gun, so the two
- 31:40Speaker 1: of them are standing there pistoled a pistol, and he says,
- 31:44Speaker 1: why are you forcing me to kill my own flesh
- 31:47Speaker 1: and blood yet again? And there's the moment that I
- 31:56Speaker 1: was worried about, because Law is pounding on the box
- 31:59Speaker 1: and the box starts to move against Cora's back, and like,
- 32:05Speaker 1: I don't really know entirely how Coorra's power works, so
- 32:09Speaker 1: this got me a little bit worried because it's one
- 32:12Speaker 1: thing to damp and sound, it's another thing to like
- 32:14Speaker 1: stop the vibrations entirely. And so I was wondering if
- 32:18Speaker 1: that movement is just supposed to be sort of like
- 32:23Speaker 1: symbol symbolic is the word I'm wanting to use here,
- 32:27Speaker 1: but it's not really what I mean. What do you
- 32:30Speaker 1: call it when something is sort of like cartoon grammar
- 32:35Speaker 1: where I am meant to understand that he hears law
- 32:39Speaker 1: or feels law even though Do Flamingo can't see him,
- 32:45Speaker 1: because that's the thing that I run into sometimes, not
- 32:49Speaker 1: just with this show either, but in animated stuff. There
- 32:52Speaker 1: will be times where I am not sure how literally
- 32:55Speaker 1: I'm supposed to be taking the animation. And I really
- 33:00Speaker 1: thought for a moment here that Do Flamingo was going
- 33:03Speaker 1: to see that the box was moving around and be like,
- 33:09Speaker 1: because he gets a frown on his face, and I
- 33:11Speaker 1: thought that was him noticing the box is moving, Oh,
- 33:16Speaker 1: maybe he's here. But instead he frowns and says something
- 33:21Speaker 1: about how like, I know that you aren't going to
- 33:23Speaker 1: shoot me even though you're pointing the gun in me,
- 33:25Speaker 1: because in the end, you're just like your father. And
- 33:31Speaker 1: so the frown clearly has nothing to do with the
- 33:33Speaker 1: box moving around. But Saraheim says, non diegetic, I don't think,
- 33:42Speaker 1: because like diegetic and non diegetic music just means whether
- 33:45Speaker 1: the music or the sound is a sound effect or
- 33:49Speaker 1: music that is playing over the scene versus something that
- 33:52Speaker 1: the characters are also hearing. And what I'm talking about
- 33:57Speaker 1: is more like when something in animation is meant to
- 34:00Speaker 1: be taken literally and at face value that all of
- 34:04Speaker 1: the characters are also seeing, versus when something is meant
- 34:09Speaker 1: to signal to you as a viewer that a thing
- 34:13Speaker 1: is happening even though it's not literally happening, And there
- 34:19Speaker 1: has to be a term for that, but I do
- 34:21Speaker 1: not know what it is. So if anybody does know,
- 34:24Speaker 1: let me let me know, because I would probably use
- 34:27Speaker 1: that term frequently because it's just the sort of thing
- 34:31Speaker 1: that this is. Also kind of it would be a
- 34:35Speaker 1: useful thing for talking about other TV shows as well,
- 34:40Speaker 1: just like there are times where two characters are talking
- 34:44Speaker 1: to one another and my immediate instinct is to be like,
- 34:48Speaker 1: you guys are so loud, everybody can hear you. But
- 34:52Speaker 1: in the context of the scene, I am meant to
- 34:55Speaker 1: understand nobody can hear them, that they are they are
- 35:01Speaker 1: not being observed or you know whatever, even though there
- 35:04Speaker 1: is no fucking way. I am so sorry, you know
- 35:07Speaker 1: so anyway, just curious about that. But yeah, this is
- 35:13Speaker 1: when we find out about him, like thinking Law is
- 35:16Speaker 1: going to be picked up because he is in this
- 35:18Speaker 1: chest and no pirate is going to be able to.
- 35:24Speaker 2: Resist it.
- 35:25Speaker 1: And we also have the moment of him telling Law,
- 35:31Speaker 1: don't worry, Dophie isn't going to kill his old his
- 35:35Speaker 1: own flesh and blood, and promising that him and Dophie
- 35:41Speaker 1: are going to escape together and do Flamingo, him and Dophie. Sorry,
- 35:48Speaker 1: I keep saying, Dophie, I mean Law. Sorry, guys, but
- 35:52Speaker 1: he promises, Korra promises Law, We're going to escape together.
- 35:57Speaker 1: He's not going to kill his own flesh and blood.
- 36:00Speaker 1: And it's at this point that Law is realizing Kora
- 36:04Speaker 1: knew it was a lie when he said it, that
- 36:09Speaker 1: there was simply no way they were getting out of
- 36:12Speaker 1: here together. That of course Stofelmingo is willing to kill
- 36:16Speaker 1: his own flesh and blood. He has done it before,
- 36:19Speaker 1: he will do it again. Just the number of things
- 36:23Speaker 1: that begin to slide into place, and then of course
- 36:27Speaker 1: Kora just saying to him, hey, I love you before he.
- 36:31Speaker 2: Goes, and I was just like, oh my god, oh no.
- 36:34Speaker 1: So yeah, Law is real mad because he feels like
- 36:37Speaker 1: this is not what you fucking promised. And we hear
- 36:45Speaker 1: what he says about because, like he says, Dofi, Law
- 36:51Speaker 1: wouldn't obey you anyway. He only had three years to
- 36:55Speaker 1: live and he knew that, but he kept fighting anyway,
- 36:59Speaker 1: and he grew stronger and found himself again. He's not
- 37:05Speaker 1: the same lost child who threw himself before a killer
- 37:09Speaker 1: like you. He has nothing to gain from someone who
- 37:13Speaker 1: only longs for destruction. He's above that. So you leave
- 37:18Speaker 1: him the hell alone because Laws finally free now.
- 37:24Speaker 2: And I really just love this.
- 37:28Speaker 1: What a fucking baddie, honestly, just throwing it in his
- 37:33Speaker 1: face knowing he is going to die, and indeed do
- 37:38Speaker 1: Flamingo shoots him like that moment and we see him
- 37:42Speaker 1: go down, and poor Law freaking out, all of these
- 37:46Speaker 1: moments of remembering the the development of this guy's character
- 37:53Speaker 1: and starting to understand who he really truly was. And
- 37:58Speaker 1: then we see Law in one of the trunks being
- 38:02Speaker 1: carried away, just as predicted, and he opens the trunk
- 38:05Speaker 1: and looks out and sees Cora's body just like laid
- 38:08Speaker 1: out in the snow and has to leave in there.
- 38:11Speaker 1: And it's so sad, you guys, Like we see one
- 38:16Speaker 1: of Cora's fingers wiggling, and for a moment when we
- 38:23Speaker 1: see the finger, I thought it was going to be like, oh,
- 38:26Speaker 1: it's to indicate that he's not dead. And maybe he
- 38:30Speaker 1: is still alive, Like maybe this was supposed to be
- 38:32Speaker 1: the hint. But then he starts to say, if I
- 38:38Speaker 1: die now, the cast is going to be broken, and
- 38:41Speaker 1: if you cry or make a single noise, anyone on
- 38:43Speaker 1: the island might hear it. So I need to stay
- 38:46Speaker 1: alive a little bit longer. And I was like, oh, man,
- 38:51Speaker 1: I really hoped that this was going to be like
- 38:53Speaker 1: a little cause, you know, it's the thing with this
- 38:56Speaker 1: show is that nobody really dies unless it's a flashback.
- 39:00Speaker 1: That's the exception. People in flashbacks die all the time,
- 39:04Speaker 1: and they stay fucking dead. So this was a moment
- 39:09Speaker 1: of me kind of being like, oh maybe maybe with
- 39:12Speaker 1: everybody going like not really dying, maybe this is one
- 39:16Speaker 1: of them. And I kept being like, it's a flashback, Natasha,
- 39:18Speaker 1: you can't no if he is still alive. As much
- 39:23Speaker 1: as it will feel like a little bit of a cheat,
- 39:26Speaker 1: I'll be glad because I just enjoy him so much.
- 39:29Speaker 1: But I really believe that he is actually dead. We
- 39:33Speaker 1: see the moment of him like gasping out his last
- 39:37Speaker 1: and just saying you're free now and then going still.
- 39:43Speaker 1: So my assumption is very much that this guy is
- 39:46Speaker 1: true well and truly dead because he gets covered with
- 39:51Speaker 1: snow and doesn't move, you know, because the snow keeps
- 39:55Speaker 1: falling even after he has gone still.
- 39:58Speaker 2: And the Navy meanwhile.
- 39:59Speaker 1: Is just firing all these cannons, and Law is crying
- 40:03Speaker 1: and just like losing his shit, and that's how the
- 40:07Speaker 1: episode ends. It's a pretty rough ending to the episode,
- 40:10Speaker 1: to be honest. So then we come back to the
- 40:15Speaker 1: present to be free Laws injection shop blasts and we
- 40:22Speaker 1: get thrown back into the fight between Do Flamingo and Law.
- 40:27Speaker 1: Now Do Flamingo is fighting using these rainbow like finger
- 40:36Speaker 1: It's like there are they also strings or what? Guys,
- 40:40Speaker 1: Please forgive me if these came up in the last
- 40:46Speaker 1: episodes and I didn't mention them. But I'm going to
- 40:50Speaker 1: be honest, I have absolutely no memory of these like
- 40:56Speaker 1: rainbow weapons, and they are very fucking cool looking. I mean,
- 41:05Speaker 1: I feel like I'm annoyed Dough Flamingo gets them. I
- 41:09Speaker 1: want somebody cooler to get them. I honestly wouldn't be
- 41:15Speaker 1: mad if, Like you know, I have talked before about
- 41:20Speaker 1: the women characters a lot of times in this show
- 41:22Speaker 1: not being able to get real combat powers a lot
- 41:26Speaker 1: of the time, it seems like they get weird like
- 41:30Speaker 1: powers that can be useful in a fight, but not
- 41:33Speaker 1: exactly combat power is strictly speaking, and I wouldn't be
- 41:40Speaker 1: mad if we had a woman who was using like
- 41:45Speaker 1: rainbow weaponry, sparkle weaponry, I would be into it. So
- 41:51Speaker 1: maybe something like that's coming eventually. Maybe Five's ability is like.
- 41:57Speaker 2: One of the most.
- 42:02Speaker 1: Combat like. And I'm just thinking about if she were
- 42:05Speaker 1: to transform herself into a huge gun in the way
- 42:07Speaker 1: that she does sometimes, but the gun like we're encrusted
- 42:11Speaker 1: with pink rhymestones or something, and that would be very funny.
- 42:16Speaker 1: I'm sure it would be a hell to draw. But
- 42:19Speaker 1: I'm just saying that the idea of a very esthetic weapon,
- 42:25Speaker 1: especially a weapon that's not solid, something like these strings
- 42:28Speaker 1: that kind of come and go I love Saraphim says
- 42:33Speaker 1: they are strings. The attack name is pentachromatic strings. Oh
- 42:41Speaker 1: I like that name. It's a little bit of a mouthful,
- 42:44Speaker 1: but I'm okay with that.
- 42:47Speaker 2: So I'm not sure what it is that they do though.
- 42:52Speaker 1: Dophie, meanwhile, is just like making fun of law, saying,
- 42:56Speaker 1: I can't believe how tough you acted when you just
- 42:58Speaker 1: played right into my hands anyway. Basically, like, this is pathetic.
- 43:03Speaker 1: I can't believe I was able to trick you and
- 43:05Speaker 1: law himself is like trick me fell into your hands.
- 43:11Speaker 1: I'm here on purpose. I'm here to take revenge. This
- 43:14Speaker 1: isn't an accident and I didn't fall for anything. I
- 43:19Speaker 1: am fulfilling your brother's dying wish. And do Flamingo says,
- 43:25Speaker 1: I know that's just what I expected you to do.
- 43:29Speaker 1: The crap that you call free will, it all belongs
- 43:33Speaker 1: to me. This is the goofiest shit I ever heard
- 43:38Speaker 1: in my life. Do Flamingo. I know you don't even
- 43:43Speaker 1: believe that. Like, look, there are ways that I have
- 43:48Speaker 1: seen this played before, okay, and most of the way
- 43:53Speaker 1: that you have a villain pretend somebody has fallen into
- 43:57Speaker 1: their hands. What you do is you have them talk
- 44:01Speaker 1: about how their hero is just really predictable. And for me,
- 44:09Speaker 1: even though it can be still quite cliche, I can't
- 44:14Speaker 1: help but react to that because this is something that
- 44:22Speaker 1: I think all of us sort of struggle with this
- 44:24Speaker 1: a little bit. Is like there is something in our
- 44:29Speaker 1: culture that inherently says if you are predictable, that means
- 44:35Speaker 1: that you are boring. And it means that you haven't
- 44:38Speaker 1: got much imagination or spontaneity or whatever. And I don't
- 44:45Speaker 1: think that that's actually true, but I definitely get why
- 44:50Speaker 1: we would jump to those sorts of insults in relationship
- 44:55Speaker 1: to it. I just don't think that's really necessarily what
- 44:58Speaker 1: it means, because you can be predictable, but in a
- 45:02Speaker 1: way that's like.
- 45:05Speaker 2: Wild and like chaotic.
- 45:10Speaker 1: You know, oh, I knew that you were going to
- 45:13Speaker 1: go out there and shoot somebody as soon as you
- 45:15Speaker 1: heard this thing. Because you are predictable. Predictable and boring
- 45:21Speaker 1: are not synonymous. It just means that you have a
- 45:24Speaker 1: pattern of behavior that other people have begun to recognize.
- 45:27Speaker 1: You know.
- 45:30Speaker 2: So I.
- 45:33Speaker 1: This moment of just trying to be like I own
- 45:36Speaker 1: free will or you know, you call it freedom, but
- 45:41Speaker 1: it belongs to me. Sir. How about you just say
- 45:46Speaker 1: the actual thing that's true, which is I predicted what
- 45:50Speaker 1: you were going to do.
- 45:53Speaker 2: How about that?
- 45:54Speaker 1: How about we just keep it a buck and you
- 45:56Speaker 1: stop acting as if you're some sort of god with
- 46:00Speaker 1: ownership of free will. You have been fucked with one
- 46:07Speaker 1: too many times for anybody to believe that you are
- 46:10Speaker 1: a god. At this point, you can do some badass shit.
- 46:13Speaker 1: You can throw a wrench in people's plans. Sure, all
- 46:18Speaker 1: of that. Sure, but you are not you know what
- 46:22Speaker 1: I'm saying, Guys Like it's just so incredibly over the top.
- 46:27Speaker 1: And I don't mean this as like a criticism of
- 46:30Speaker 1: the writing. Just to be clear, when I say all
- 46:33Speaker 1: of this, I am in full recognition that this is
- 46:37Speaker 1: about him as a person. Do Flamingo believes that he
- 46:44Speaker 1: is somehow like in charge or the fact that he
- 46:49Speaker 1: can predict what a person would do means that he
- 46:53Speaker 1: is like supernatural, And that's just called recognizing patterns. You're
- 47:01Speaker 1: not special. Many people could predict what I would do
- 47:06Speaker 1: or say because they have listened to the show and
- 47:09Speaker 1: they have begun to get to know me. And that
- 47:13Speaker 1: doesn't make them gods. It just means they know what
- 47:17Speaker 1: I would do or say, which isn't hard, you know,
- 47:21Speaker 1: Like it's.
- 47:21Speaker 2: Just a weird moment to me.
- 47:25Speaker 1: Seraphim is in agreement here unless it's something a story
- 47:30Speaker 1: is very clearly trying to keep a secret, but it's
- 47:31Speaker 1: obvious what's going on. Predictable to me just means progressing
- 47:34Speaker 1: in a logical fashion. I agree and disagree when it
- 47:39Speaker 1: comes to a story When I talk about predictable and
- 47:44Speaker 1: it not being synonymous with boring, I mean people's behaviors.
- 47:50Speaker 1: But when I talk about a story and it being predictable,
- 47:57Speaker 1: I cannot agree that it's always just progress in a
- 48:00Speaker 1: logical fashion, because a lot of times what predictable can
- 48:05Speaker 1: be in writing a story is that you are making
- 48:09Speaker 1: you are ensuring we hit certain story beats, but not
- 48:14Speaker 1: in a way that feels like it's actually organically happening
- 48:18Speaker 1: due to character choices. It feels like it's happening because
- 48:21Speaker 1: you knew we had to hit these beats, which is
- 48:23Speaker 1: a very different thing. So when I say predictable in
- 48:28Speaker 1: terms of a story, I will say that I do
- 48:31Speaker 1: mean that pejoratively most of the time. I don't mean
- 48:35Speaker 1: it in terms of human beings. But a story like,
- 48:40Speaker 1: there's a difference between following tropes and being predictable, and
- 48:47Speaker 1: I think that it depends.
- 48:50Speaker 2: I think it depends.
- 48:54Speaker 1: Sir frum Sis do Flamingo's hoole deal as he sees
- 48:56Speaker 1: himself as a puppet master. Everything that happens around him
- 48:58Speaker 1: only does so.
- 48:59Speaker 2: Under his control.
- 49:00Speaker 1: Yeah, and it's just fucking hilarious. Like he has what
- 49:05Speaker 1: the kids call main character energy, Like he really just
- 49:08Speaker 1: thinks everything is about.
- 49:09Speaker 2: Himself, and it is.
- 49:13Speaker 1: Kind of embarrassing when you step back and really look
- 49:16Speaker 1: at it. It's just somebody who is trying to grasp
- 49:20Speaker 1: onto this feeling of godliness and importance that he lost
- 49:24Speaker 1: as a kid because his father took it away. And
- 49:30Speaker 1: what he is clinging to are these scraps that, like
- 49:35Speaker 1: his abilities from the Devil Fruit, feed into that to
- 49:41Speaker 1: a certain degree. I don't know how we found like
- 49:46Speaker 1: how he found the devil fruit?
- 49:47Speaker 2: He did?
- 49:47Speaker 1: Do we remember, like do I remember that or not?
- 49:50Speaker 2: Do I remember that? I don't remember clearly, but.
- 49:53Speaker 1: Did we get told about that? So now we go
- 50:01Speaker 1: over to Loofy and he is trying to fight the
- 50:06Speaker 1: fake Mingo as he keeps calling him, who is also
- 50:10Speaker 1: using the rainbow attack. And every time that Lufy comes
- 50:17Speaker 1: at him, we get not Bartolomeo, he's the other guy,
- 50:24Speaker 1: Bellamy jumping in front of him. Poor fucking Bellamy. You guys,
- 50:29Speaker 1: this dude is just in such bad shape he has
- 50:33Speaker 1: he just looks like absolute hell. And every time that
- 50:38Speaker 1: Lufy like manages to avoid hitting him, I was so
- 50:40Speaker 1: relieved because he just the the ugliness of this whole
- 50:46Speaker 1: thing is painful to.
- 50:49Speaker 2: Watch, you know.
- 50:54Speaker 1: So then we get dolf La Mingo and law Law
- 50:58Speaker 1: saying you were once a celestial dragon. You must have
- 51:00Speaker 1: something interesting to say about the power of D and
- 51:07Speaker 1: like or the will of D, which I am never
- 51:12Speaker 1: not going to bring up the fact that it just
- 51:14Speaker 1: sounds like, you know, you got digmatized. And he strikes
- 51:21Speaker 1: at Dophie with his blade. Dophie wraps his hand around
- 51:25Speaker 1: it and just holds it and starts to bleed and says,
- 51:29Speaker 1: why should I indulge you? That's none of your concern.
- 51:34Speaker 1: And you think the straw hat was led here, that
- 51:37Speaker 1: my divine blood enticed him to come and kill me
- 51:41Speaker 1: a bunch of nonsense. So I guess that means that
- 51:49Speaker 1: there is some sort of like weird prophecy or intention
- 51:53Speaker 1: or whatever. Though, and we get reminded sworn enemy of
- 51:59Speaker 1: the gods thing that was said earlier. And I hadn't
- 52:04Speaker 1: really like stopped and thought about the fact that if
- 52:07Speaker 1: the celestial dragons believe they're gods, then that's what it means.
- 52:11Speaker 1: Anybody with D in his name is meant to like
- 52:14Speaker 1: go up against the celestial dragons. I suppose, which good let's.
- 52:19Speaker 2: Get it on.
- 52:20Speaker 1: Let's get on with it, because I don't like these guys.
- 52:23Speaker 2: I'm sick of them.
- 52:25Speaker 1: We jump over to Violet for a little while or Viola,
- 52:28Speaker 1: depending on which one you're watching, and she is giving
- 52:32Speaker 1: an update to her father about the fight and what
- 52:35Speaker 1: all is going on with everybody, which is a nice
- 52:37Speaker 1: little recap for us so that we remember where everyone
- 52:41Speaker 1: is and what battle they in.
- 52:42Speaker 2: Particular, are fighting.
- 52:46Speaker 1: We also have a little bit of regrouping with Senor
- 52:52Speaker 1: Pink and there's a moment that's really weird where he's
- 52:56Speaker 1: fighting Frankie and Frankie hits him in the face. He
- 53:00Speaker 1: starts bleeding, and he just says, huh, was that a
- 53:03Speaker 1: breeze that tickled me? And then there's a cat that
- 53:06Speaker 1: meows and comes walking up, and when he comes walking up,
- 53:15Speaker 1: sen Your Pink kneels down and the cat comes over,
- 53:22Speaker 1: and Senor Pink looks over at the cat with like
- 53:27Speaker 1: and gives him a thumbs up, and the cat starts crying.
- 53:32Speaker 1: And then Frankie turns away and says that breeze is
- 53:35Speaker 1: hurting my tear ducts. Guys, I'm so sorry. I don't
- 53:40Speaker 1: know what this is. Is it just supposed to be that, like,
- 53:45Speaker 1: there was an animal that was here in the midst
- 53:48Speaker 1: of their fight and they didn't hurt it, and so
- 53:52Speaker 1: it's supposed to be like, what a sweet moment because
- 53:57Speaker 1: they decided to take a second to let the cat
- 54:02Speaker 1: pass by and be unhurt. I feel like that's what
- 54:09Speaker 1: we're doing. But the cat like crying in response to
- 54:14Speaker 1: him giving.
- 54:15Speaker 2: A thumbs up.
- 54:17Speaker 1: I just don't get it. There's also like this point
- 54:19Speaker 1: where Frankie sees the cat and says to Senor Pink, wait,
- 54:25Speaker 1: did you And it's like he's about to accuse him
- 54:30Speaker 1: of something, but I don't understand what, Like, I don't
- 54:37Speaker 1: get this. Florian says, yeah, if Seor moved, the cat
- 54:43Speaker 1: would get hurt, so he stayed. Okay, So the cat's
- 54:52Speaker 1: just like crying in response to the fact that Senor
- 54:55Speaker 1: Pink stopped moving. Okay, So the cat understands fully what's
- 55:05Speaker 1: going on here. I have to assume, Sarahim says, tough
- 55:11Speaker 1: guy is taking a moment to play with a kitty. Again,
- 55:13Speaker 1: this whole fight is over the top to the point
- 55:15Speaker 1: of parody. Not sure what the cat crying thing is about. Yeah,
- 55:18Speaker 1: I think that's the part that's the most confusing to
- 55:21Speaker 1: me is, like I the way that this is drawn
- 55:27Speaker 1: is it doesn't feel as if like, oh, we were fighting,
- 55:30Speaker 1: the cat popped up and we came to a screeching
- 55:33Speaker 1: halt to make sure the cat didn't get hurt. It
- 55:35Speaker 1: feels like they are already kind of standing still. The
- 55:39Speaker 1: cat creeps around the corner, and then we have a
- 55:43Speaker 1: moment of like, oh, there's a cat here, all right, well,
- 55:47Speaker 1: we're gonna have to deal with that. And it doesn't like,
- 55:51Speaker 1: I feel like they should have been actively in the
- 55:55Speaker 1: midst of moving around and handling things, and then when
- 56:01Speaker 1: the cat showed up and they just record scratched came
- 56:05Speaker 1: to a stop, it would just make it a lot
- 56:08Speaker 1: more obvious that we were giving the cat a second,
- 56:14Speaker 1: you know. But it's just not It doesn't feel like
- 56:19Speaker 1: that in this moment, and I was sensing what I
- 56:23Speaker 1: was supposed to think was going on, but it didn't
- 56:27Speaker 1: really work because of the way that it was paced
- 56:31Speaker 1: and everything. So we go from there back to Pika
- 56:37Speaker 1: and Zorro, who we have just a brief moment with
- 56:41Speaker 1: the two of them. I have to admit you guys
- 56:43Speaker 1: that I do find it a little bit amusing how
- 56:48Speaker 1: the show seems to have itself lost interest in Zoro's fight.
- 56:52Speaker 1: We go back to him and Pica only but briefly,
- 56:56Speaker 1: and the fight has been going on for a while,
- 57:00Speaker 1: and I'm not mad at it, just to be clear,
- 57:02Speaker 1: I don't really care about their fight, so I'm okay
- 57:05Speaker 1: with it. But I do find it funny that it's
- 57:09Speaker 1: like we spend as little time with the two of
- 57:10Speaker 1: them as possible, it seems, And it is a little
- 57:15Speaker 1: surprising considering how like badass Zorro is and how much
- 57:21Speaker 1: is made of that that the show just doesn't seem
- 57:25Speaker 1: to want to spend much time with him once he's
- 57:28Speaker 1: in fights, that this is not the first time that
- 57:30Speaker 1: this has happened.
- 57:33Speaker 2: And then we jump.
- 57:34Speaker 1: Into Kiros who is fighting Diamante, and Rebecca is off
- 57:41Speaker 1: to the side, like watching the fight and being absolutely
- 57:44Speaker 1: useless as usual, just yelling be careful to her father,
- 57:48Speaker 1: like thank you so much, wow, And eventually her father
- 57:54Speaker 1: slices Diamante's face and he Diamon bends down, puts his
- 58:01Speaker 1: hand on the ground, and he makes all of the
- 58:03Speaker 1: ground ripple and move the way that he is able
- 58:06Speaker 1: to make his blade ripple and move, which would probably
- 58:11Speaker 1: be difficult to keep your balance on anyway. But reminder
- 58:14Speaker 1: that Kiros only has one leg and so it makes
- 58:18Speaker 1: it even more difficult for him. Now I accept this
- 58:25Speaker 1: because the show is telling me that it's harder to
- 58:29Speaker 1: balance with one leg. But I'm going to be completely honest,
- 58:35Speaker 1: this is kind of bullshit because the show really doesn't
- 58:39Speaker 1: give a shit about him having one leg any other time.
- 58:45Speaker 1: It has never slowed him down, it has never had
- 58:47Speaker 1: any effect on his fighting ability. He has like even
- 58:51Speaker 1: when it gets cut off, he's like barely even bleeds
- 58:55Speaker 1: from it. Honestly, Kiros getting his leg or cutting his
- 58:58Speaker 1: own leg off, that is one of the most hand
- 59:04Speaker 1: waved moments of this show in my opinion, that gets
- 59:10Speaker 1: hyped up. It just feels like I'm really supposed to
- 59:13Speaker 1: be impressed with it. But it's only impressive if it
- 59:17Speaker 1: feels like it's any sort of obstacle to the character,
- 59:20Speaker 1: and it doesn't feel that way. He cuts his own
- 59:23Speaker 1: leg off and then he keeps it moving like it
- 59:26Speaker 1: was nothing, and it apparently isn't anything. He's fine and
- 59:32Speaker 1: it's never really ever a problem. So then to have
- 59:36Speaker 1: it be like, oh, the ground ripples here and you
- 59:38Speaker 1: only have one leg I suppose you know, like anyway,
- 59:48Speaker 1: So that's going on there. We jump then over to
- 59:52Speaker 1: Robin and Bartolameo and she's thinking about how like, I'm
- 59:57Speaker 1: still fighting just to get to these enemies, and enemies
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: are really fucking strong, and we are really gonna have
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: a hard time. And she's trying to handle these dudes
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: that are coming up behind them, and Bartolomeo is like,
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: I have it, please just go on ahead, and she
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: is like, all right, here I go. And she makes
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: a staircase out of her legs, like sticking out of
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: this wall, and then runs up her own shins, which
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: I have to assume hurts like hell, that sounds like
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: it would hurt. And Bartolomeo is so happy and is
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: thinking about how like, oh, when her friends rescued her
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: from Ennie's lobby, it's just like that, but here I'm
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: an honorary crewmate. And then he's like, okay, okay, that
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: was a bit much. I got carried away. He's the best.
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: I love him so much. So then we go over
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: to uh, what's his face? Oh my god, the one
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: with the arkles and the roses, and what is his name?
- 1:01:05Speaker 2: Cardigan.
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: Oh, I always want to call him Cardigan, but yeah,
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: he is continuing to fight. I had forgotten all about him, frankly,
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: so it's a good thing that we did a little
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: bit of a check in. And throughout all of this,
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: by the way, Viola is recounting who is left in
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: terms of, like all of the executives that remain to
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: be fought against, and she mentions Dellinger as being like
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: part fishman, and guys, I don't remember that he's part fishman?
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: Really did we know?
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: That?
- 1:01:49Speaker 2: This rang no bells for me?
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: I felt very taken off guard. I was like, what, yeah,
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: so I just I just wanted to uh to check
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: in and just like see, am I the only one
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: who completely missed that? Because he has some like things
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: about his appearance that are a little bit unusual. But
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: the fishmen usually seem to be much more easily identifiable,
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: and that one never I don't think I ever put
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: it together that he was supposed to be one. Let's see.
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: Oh right, I forgot about the uh the.
- 1:02:33Speaker 2: What is?
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: I forgot him already? The macho man Randy Savage dude
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: who is fighting against Mock weiss uh and Mock Weiss's
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: whole way of fighting and his voice is so bizarre.
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: I don't have a good sense of him. He's a
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: character that I feel like every time we spend a
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: little more time with him, he gets weirder, and like,
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: I just yeah, he's somebody that I feel like I
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: need a spreadsheet explaining him to me, because I don't
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: get his deal, or his power or a lot of this.
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: Oh right, We regroup with Luji who's fighting against Chin Jao,
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: and he seems to knock that man right the fuck out.
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: Checking back in with Zorro and Pica and he does
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: one hundred eight caliber Phoenix and he manages to it
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: seems bust Pika apart. Peka looks worried before it hits him,
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: and Zorro says, he ran away. He's pissing me off.
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: If he hadn't as said he ran away, I don't
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: think I would have known that's what happened there. It
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: didn't look like it. It looks like the hit landed
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: and Pica just kind of shattered, you know. And then
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: we go briefly over to Sabo, who my friend Sydney,
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: who I went down there with. Sabo is their favorite character.
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: And they are thinking about cosplaying Sabo, which they would
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: definitely be able to pull off one because they are
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: very good at doing like scar makeup and whatnot. And
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: also they have like a very good like their face,
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: can do male or female characters, and they have all
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: of the like kind of steampunk accessories necessary to do Sabo.
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: So if they do Sabo, I will let you guys
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: know so that you can go over to their instagram
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: and give them some support. So Sabo is helping to
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: rescue people from falling debris and everything. And then we
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: have the girl I can't remember her name, but she
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: is running towards all of the plateaus. And then we
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: go back to Viola and she is like, it seems
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: like the battle is like starting to draw to a close,
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: but even if we defeat the executives, that doesn't mean
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: anything because Lou and Law have to stop do Flamingo
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: or else. Everybody is just trapped in this fucking cage
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: and that's really the main thing. And some guy yells out,
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: so the fate of this whole island is in the
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: is in the hands of two pirates and that's it.
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: And he has a point that does suck let's see.
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: Oh right, this is when do fla Mingo is like, oh,
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: you have a D you have a hidden name, and
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: so that's what you're doing here is to you're like
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: coming to defeat me just because you've got some fucking
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: letter in your name that you think somehow fate is
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: on your side because of that. Get the fuck out
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: of here. This is bullshit. And as he is fighting,
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: he is starting to like get a little bit reckless
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: because he's irritated, and Treble, who is off to the
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: side and has somehow managed to survive things, he stands
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: up and is yelling, Dol Flamingo, be careful.
- 1:06:07Speaker 2: You're in range of his power right now.
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: And as he says this, it's like Dol Flamingo sort
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: of hears him and realizes but Law has already got
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: it set up, and he says, kor knew it would
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: take more than a measly D to defeat you. I'm
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: so sorry, guys, but that is hilarious. I can't handle
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: this D thing. It's just too much. And yet when
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: I learned the truth, my fate changed all the same.
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: My name was the catalyst, and we have the flashback
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: to Del Famingo telling us, brother, you can't shoot me
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: because in the end, you're just like our father, and
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: law says in the present. Listen, I'm only here because
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: Korra was too kind hearted to pull the trigger that day,
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: So now I'm going to do it for him, and
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: then it's to be continued. So I don't think that's
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: what's likely to happen here, but I hope it is,
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: because do Flamingo kind of sick of at this point,
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: to be honest, So you know, it's funny because do
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: Flamingo being like a big bad it makes total sense
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: in terms of the way he sees himself. But I
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: just he like and he it's not like he's incompetent
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: or anything, because he is pretty smart, but he is
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: smart in a way that feels like it's in conflict
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: with the things.
- 1:07:56Speaker 2: That he believes about himself.
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: So I think that's part of it's a little confusing
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: for me, trying to get a hold of his personality
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: versus somebody like Crocodile, for example, who was really really
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: capable and also seemed to have a clear idea of
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: where he stood in the hierarchy of things as well.
- 1:08:20Speaker 2: Well.
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: Anyway, all right, I'm gonna have to wrap this up
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: on overtime, but thank you guys again for hanging out
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: with me. Thank you Florian for commissioning this one and
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: for being in the chat. Thank you Sarahim for being
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: in the chat as well. Caven Dish, thank you also,
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: Acceptable Cabbage. Yeah, I still do think Cardigan kind of
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: works also, but Cavendish thank you. All Right, everybody, I
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: will be seeing you soon. And just a fyi, I'm
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: going to be making a separate feed just for the
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: one Piece episodes. So if you have been listening via
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: the spoil Me feed and you start to see that
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: there hasn't been an update with new one Piece episodisodes
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: in a while, check check spoil me one Piece specifically
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: search that and I am starting to set it up
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: so it may not appear right away because you have
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: to populate it across different podcast players, but I am
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: doing this because you can only have so many episodes
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: on a feed before the old ones begin to get
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: pushed off the feed. And because there are so many
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: episodes of one Piece, it's pushing off a lot of
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: things from the spoil Me feed. So I decided that
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: since this is going to continue on for a while.
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: Probably it is enough episodes to justify making a separate
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: feed for so those of you who are interested check
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: that out. All right, guys, thank you again so much.
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: I really really appreciate you. I hope that you have
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: enjoyed the coverage, and until next time to Loo motherfuckers.
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: That was an unspoiled network.
- 1:10:25Speaker 2: Pat
