- 0:11Speaker 1: Here he is All Star. Chris Sale with us in Philadelphia. Chris,
- 0:14Speaker 1: good to see if thanks for stopping by. We really
- 0:16Speaker 1: appreciate it. And I was the first half for you
- 0:18Speaker 1: to jet fun.
- 0:19Speaker 2: Yeah it was good. You know, playing for a winning
- 0:22Speaker 2: team is always is always fun.
- 0:25Speaker 3: You know, we let our ups and downs, but we
- 0:27Speaker 3: got a good clubhouse, good fan base, so you know, man,
- 0:29Speaker 3: it makes a lot of fun.
- 0:31Speaker 2: Did you recover from your July fourth start? My July
- 0:35Speaker 2: fourth star? Yeah?
- 0:36Speaker 4: Yeah, Well, I mean I glazed you for five six
- 0:39Speaker 4: innings and so I mean I didn't know if you
- 0:42Speaker 4: had recovered yet. Happened the Braves Mets July fourth game
- 0:46Speaker 4: he started? We just every inning was a package about
- 0:50Speaker 4: how great Chrissel was.
- 0:51Speaker 2: How great you. Geez, I'll tell you what.
- 0:59Speaker 3: I'm gonna go back and watch that because I don't
- 1:00Speaker 3: know if I've heard too many nice things come out
- 1:02Speaker 3: of his mouth about me.
- 1:04Speaker 2: So you just you just made my day and I'm
- 1:08Speaker 2: about to go rewatch my first start ever.
- 1:10Speaker 4: Let's let's make sure. Let's make sure you understand it's
- 1:12Speaker 4: a one for one glazing. He mentioned a j and
- 1:16Speaker 4: then he mentioned you. Then he mentioned Aja catches. You know,
- 1:20Speaker 4: I caught him. I was there for his first start.
- 1:23Speaker 4: I've seen this from Sad.
- 1:25Speaker 3: It was like it was like a little kid on
- 1:26Speaker 3: a raft with a with a you know, with the string.
- 1:28Speaker 2: He just kind of was like pulling me aloud.
- 1:30Speaker 4: You know when I first got to the big games,
- 1:32Speaker 4: apparently you were like an eighty six to eighty eight guy.
- 1:35Speaker 2: He a lot for you. I'm sure his first outing,
- 1:38Speaker 2: it was so fast. He walked uh Brian roberts on
- 1:40Speaker 2: four pitchers.
- 1:41Speaker 3: And then nig Mar KEKs got am O two and
- 1:43Speaker 3: he threw on up and then he got a little
- 1:45Speaker 3: bleeder and he took him out right. But well as
- 1:47Speaker 3: funny as I said, you know what, the thing for me,
- 1:50Speaker 3: you never threw a slider in that whole outing. But
- 1:53Speaker 3: I had no idea anything that you had because he
- 1:57Speaker 3: literally came from college.
- 1:58Speaker 2: We went on each other for three minute. Yeah, They're like, hey,
- 2:01Speaker 2: nice to meet you. What do you call if basketball slider?
- 2:03Speaker 2: He's out there going, Oh, a TI game. We brought
- 2:06Speaker 2: him in a.
- 2:06Speaker 4: Tie game in the eighth inning of the on the
- 2:09Speaker 4: road in Baltimore in his first big league out, and.
- 2:11Speaker 3: I had coffee on my jersey because I was in shambles.
- 2:15Speaker 3: I was in absolutely shambles in my Measure League debut.
- 2:18Speaker 3: We had a lot going on. So yeah, so we
- 2:21Speaker 3: got through there.
- 2:21Speaker 4: We met him pregame though, right for like a second.
- 2:25Speaker 4: Good and then on the mound you're like, hey, what
- 2:26Speaker 4: pitches do you have? And he was like, coffee, Jersey,
- 2:31Speaker 4: do I have pitches yet?
- 2:32Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 2:32Speaker 4: He's like touching the coffee, just making sure it's not
- 2:36Speaker 4: pine par So we're gonna make it crew this stream
- 2:39Speaker 4: eagle back then, so that's it was still the wild West.
- 2:42Speaker 2: Thank you. That's so funny. Yeah.
- 2:44Speaker 4: But then obviously what amazed me is when they said,
- 2:47Speaker 4: this is your fifteenth full season, sixteen parts.
- 2:52Speaker 3: We count twenty six I think sixteenth full season, seventeen parts.
- 2:55Speaker 2: Yea, you made ten all S games, okay, which is
- 2:58Speaker 2: most active.
- 3:00Speaker 4: So basically, every year you're healthy, you just tell your
- 3:02Speaker 4: family like, hey, we're going to the Oscar again wherever
- 3:04Speaker 4: it is, because it literally has been every year that
- 3:06Speaker 4: you've been healthy you have been at the Osera, which
- 3:09Speaker 4: to me is unbelievable.
- 3:10Speaker 2: No, I appreciate it.
- 3:11Speaker 3: Yeah, Uh, definitely incentivizes staying healthy because you know, being
- 3:15Speaker 3: hurts never fun. You know, obviously I wish I could
- 3:20Speaker 3: sit here and take all the credit, but I lean
- 3:22Speaker 3: on my guys hard. You know, I'm in the training
- 3:24Speaker 3: room a lot, I'm in the weight room a lot
- 3:26Speaker 3: popular to you know, you know, maybe not doesn't look
- 3:29Speaker 3: like it, but but no, I mean there's a lot
- 3:33Speaker 3: of people that are that are helping me. You know,
- 3:34Speaker 3: I have a great, you know, great situation in the
- 3:38Speaker 3: off season. You know, George and his guys in that
- 3:41Speaker 3: in that training room are doing everything they can to
- 3:43Speaker 3: keep me healthy and on the field. I know, Warrant
- 3:46Speaker 3: and half An Alex, they they have a lot of
- 3:48Speaker 3: meetings about, you know, trying to implement some extra rest
- 3:50Speaker 3: for me.
- 3:51Speaker 2: So I'm just.
- 3:53Speaker 3: Honestly, it's it's it's kind of crazy to think, you know,
- 3:55Speaker 3: when when World was having the meeting in the clubhouse,
- 3:59Speaker 3: Yeah says ten time All Star, and you're just like, man,
- 4:01Speaker 3: I it's like that wouldn't that didn't even happen in
- 4:06Speaker 3: my wildest dream. That's something that you know, I'm just
- 4:08Speaker 3: I'm very thankful for what was your first one twelve
- 4:11Speaker 3: twelve in in Kansas City, Kansas City, and man, what
- 4:15Speaker 3: loo I went back and looked at that that that
- 4:18Speaker 3: clubhouse that was there, and it was me and Trout
- 4:21Speaker 3: were there for the first time. Jeter's there, h C
- 4:25Speaker 3: C was there, Verlander was there, David Ortiz was there,
- 4:30Speaker 3: and I mean, you're just.
- 4:31Speaker 2: You're looking around this clubhouse.
- 4:32Speaker 3: I mean, these guys are Hall of famers and you know,
- 4:35Speaker 3: I'm just some kid tucked away in the corner, just
- 4:37Speaker 3: trying to stay out of everyone's way.
- 4:39Speaker 2: And so yeah, it was I.
- 4:41Speaker 4: Remember you hear it back from that and you said,
- 4:43Speaker 4: we asked you, like, who are you? So you're like, oh,
- 4:45Speaker 4: I got to meet Verlander. Now, Verlanders like the old
- 4:48Speaker 4: commissioners thick, right, because he's retiring and here.
- 4:51Speaker 2: You are are still going strong.
- 4:53Speaker 3: Yeah. Uh well, it's crazy to think that I'm like
- 4:55Speaker 3: in that situation that I was like looking up to
- 4:58Speaker 3: you know, what was that, you know, fourteen years ago.
- 5:01Speaker 2: So again, you know, just thankful.
- 5:04Speaker 3: I know that these you know, these don't these aren't guaranteed.
- 5:07Speaker 2: You know, and these are these are big honors.
- 5:09Speaker 3: And you know, I'm watching watching Drake on the flight
- 5:13Speaker 3: yesterday and watching how giddy he was and just I'm
- 5:15Speaker 3: I'm excited to experience his first All Star game with him.
- 5:19Speaker 3: So you know, but these these things always fun. I
- 5:22Speaker 3: always enjoy being here.
- 5:24Speaker 4: Are you Are you going to request to throw to him?
- 5:27Speaker 4: Is he starting so you know when you're pitching it.
- 5:30Speaker 3: I don't know if I'm good enough to throw in
- 5:31Speaker 3: the first couple of innings we got. We got some
- 5:33Speaker 3: pretty pretty big arms out there, so but I am
- 5:36Speaker 3: I am available to throw.
- 5:38Speaker 2: I would love to throw to my catcher. But we'll see.
- 5:42Speaker 5: Many people have this problem.
- 5:43Speaker 2: I want to eat healthy.
- 5:45Speaker 5: I have the willpower, I don't have the time and
- 5:48Speaker 5: the organization. I need help.
- 5:50Speaker 2: What do you do?
- 5:51Speaker 6: I mean you go to Factor. I got two boys
- 5:53Speaker 6: that are looking for the games, and they always come
- 5:55Speaker 6: in the house which I'm looking for food. Now they
- 5:59Speaker 6: have actual healthy food that is great for them, and
- 6:03Speaker 6: you know what, it's ready in the fridge for them
- 6:05Speaker 6: to pop in and make it right away.
- 6:07Speaker 5: And they have meals built around your goals. It could
- 6:10Speaker 5: be weight loss, overall nutrition gains more protein, fresh never frozen,
- 6:16Speaker 5: over one hundred rotating weekly meals, including globally inspired flavors
- 6:21Speaker 5: like Mediterranean and Asian. I get all kinds of different
- 6:24Speaker 5: salads from Factor that I love.
- 6:26Speaker 2: Quick easy.
- 6:28Speaker 5: They can be ready in two minutes head to Factor
- 6:30Speaker 5: Meals dot com. Slash foul fifty off and use code
- 6:34Speaker 5: foul fifty o FF to get fifty percent off and
- 6:38Speaker 5: free daily Greens per box with new subscription only while
- 6:40Speaker 5: supplies last until nine twenty seven, twenty six.
- 6:44Speaker 2: You can't go to doc and be like, look, Doc,
- 6:46Speaker 2: I me more teammates. Wait, how does this work?
- 6:49Speaker 1: The communication process of like, hey, I want to pitch
- 6:52Speaker 1: and I want to be you know, in this spot
- 6:54Speaker 1: in the game where they just come to you with
- 6:56Speaker 1: everything in you're.
- 6:56Speaker 3: Just I think anytime that I've ever phwn in the game,
- 6:59Speaker 3: they've come to us and said this is this is
- 7:01Speaker 3: when you're throwing other than when I started.
- 7:03Speaker 2: You know, you find out you're starting obviously earlier than
- 7:07Speaker 2: every other inning. But they'll have like a meeting.
- 7:10Speaker 3: They'll sit you down the poll all the pitchers in
- 7:11Speaker 3: and say all right, you're you're throwing this inning.
- 7:13Speaker 2: You're throwing this inning.
- 7:14Speaker 3: Generally, they'll bring in relievers, Like I'm assuming they're not
- 7:18Speaker 3: going to have anyone out there throwing thirty five pitches
- 7:20Speaker 3: in an inning or anything like that, so they'll have
- 7:21Speaker 3: relievers kind of clean up innings. But the communications there
- 7:25Speaker 3: you know it's it's it's wide open Tuesday morning. Is that?
- 7:28Speaker 2: Like, when did they tell you when I haven't I
- 7:31Speaker 2: haven't thrown in an All Star game in quite a while.
- 7:38Speaker 4: La.
- 7:38Speaker 3: Last why I threw it was twenty routeen and that
- 7:40Speaker 3: was it was a couple of surgeries ago, so I did.
- 7:43Speaker 2: There's it's been a while.
- 7:44Speaker 1: I have a question about another vat Super woild Respected
- 7:47Speaker 1: you're in division, what did you think of the Zach
- 7:50Speaker 1: Wheeler situation where everyone's looking like, why isn't he invited?
- 7:54Speaker 1: He's I mean, future Hall of Famer in our sport,
- 7:56Speaker 1: the whole deal. It's in Philly. He wants to be there.
- 7:59Speaker 1: I know, there's like the weird rule you saw that, right,
- 8:02Speaker 1: and then eventually he does get the ask and it
- 8:04Speaker 1: was kind of like too late.
- 8:05Speaker 2: I'm good now I feel disrespected.
- 8:08Speaker 1: Like, what's your take on all of that.
- 8:12Speaker 3: I'd like to stay away from the drama as much
- 8:14Speaker 3: as possible, but I like Zach a lot. You know,
- 8:18Speaker 3: I think he's he's one of the best pictures in
- 8:20Speaker 3: our game, you know, especially coming back from the surgery
- 8:25Speaker 3: he had. I mean that's you know, thorascic outlet. That's
- 8:29Speaker 3: not that's not a shoulder clean out. That's not that's
- 8:31Speaker 3: not even like a Tommy John Like that's a that's
- 8:33Speaker 3: a pretty that's a tough one to come back from. Yeah,
- 8:38Speaker 3: And I think if you just look out the stat
- 8:41Speaker 3: line by itself ten and one with like a just
- 8:47Speaker 3: over to punch outs are there. I think the innings
- 8:50Speaker 3: are there. It's a head scratcher, to say the least.
- 8:56Speaker 6: I was very good.
- 8:57Speaker 2: That's politically correct. This good job.
- 9:00Speaker 1: Put down the next layer. You know, you get to ask,
- 9:02Speaker 1: but you can speak to this part. I mean, was
- 9:04Speaker 1: here Richards to pit Saturday and then he was Sunday.
- 9:07Speaker 1: It was like Sunday and he was like, but he
- 9:09Speaker 1: made it clear, I will pitch. The whole thing is
- 9:12Speaker 1: they don't want to ask guys you know that are replacements,
- 9:15Speaker 1: and then they come and then they can't pitch, and
- 9:17Speaker 1: then you just keep going down the line. But he
- 9:19Speaker 1: made it clear that he was like, I'm down to pitch.
- 9:21Speaker 1: That's it's not like a rule right that says, oh,
- 9:24Speaker 1: you can't pitch. So I think I.
- 9:26Speaker 3: Think you should start taking away the schedule. Don't look
- 9:30Speaker 3: at what like just I you know, this is the
- 9:33Speaker 3: All Star game. The players with the best statistics go
- 9:37Speaker 3: to the All Star game, right, that's time it's always been,
- 9:40Speaker 3: you know, And I think you should start maybe taking
- 9:45Speaker 3: away some of the other fluff stuff that. You know, Hey,
- 9:49Speaker 3: what the numbers say. You guys been three forty in July.
- 9:54Speaker 3: Even when I start, guys got twenty five homers, even
- 9:58Speaker 3: when I start, guys got double digit wins. He's an
- 10:02Speaker 3: All Star. You know, you got twenty something says you're
- 10:06Speaker 3: an All Star. So, you know, some of the other
- 10:09Speaker 3: stuff I think can kind of water down some of
- 10:12Speaker 3: the other things. So I think if you look at it,
- 10:15Speaker 3: I just saw it pop up on the screen, you
- 10:18Speaker 3: will just look at the numbers. What do the numbers say.
- 10:20Speaker 3: I don't care what the name attached to the numbers.
- 10:22Speaker 3: I don't care what the schedule attached, the team attached.
- 10:24Speaker 3: It doesn't matter. I don't care who you're playing for,
- 10:27Speaker 3: what your schedule looks like. Pretty damn those are pretty
- 10:32Speaker 3: good numbers. Yeaholds are butter with my numbers. And I'm
- 10:35Speaker 3: sitting here so a little bit at that.
- 10:37Speaker 2: Do you think he needs that? Do you think he
- 10:39Speaker 2: needs that?
- 10:39Speaker 4: I think obviously three years ago you came on the
- 10:42Speaker 4: show and I was like, I think you're a Hall
- 10:43Speaker 4: of Famer and you're like a Mark Burley that whole argument.
- 10:46Speaker 4: Do you think Zach Wheeler needs a fourth of fifth
- 10:49Speaker 4: a sixth All Star game to be considered a Hall
- 10:51Speaker 4: of Famer, Because if that's the case, them not asking
- 10:54Speaker 4: him means a lot to the future looking at a
- 10:58Speaker 4: guy who should have been a hall and isn't, and
- 11:02Speaker 4: then somebody that is a Hall of Famer.
- 11:04Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean this this game is based on merit,
- 11:08Speaker 3: you know, and and and the numbers that you put
- 11:12Speaker 3: up during your career is what you get judged on.
- 11:15Speaker 3: That the accolades, the numbers, the rings, the you know,
- 11:18Speaker 3: it all, it all every it's it's an.
- 11:20Speaker 2: All encompassing thing.
- 11:22Speaker 3: So if if at the end of his career he's
- 11:25Speaker 3: going to get knocked for this, then yeah, I mean,
- 11:28Speaker 3: it's that's that's definitely kind of a black mark on
- 11:31Speaker 3: the resume, if you will. Yeah, you know, especially especially
- 11:35Speaker 3: because when you're all done, when it's all said and done,
- 11:37Speaker 3: you look back and all of us get judged on
- 11:40Speaker 3: our numbers. I don't care if you're a first ballot
- 11:42Speaker 3: Hall of Famer or if you played three months in
- 11:45Speaker 3: the Big leagues and got fourteen at bats, Like every
- 11:49Speaker 3: number gets looked at and it's all and and you
- 11:52Speaker 3: get judged based on those numbers and the accolades.
- 11:55Speaker 2: So again, it's just kind of a tough situation.
- 11:59Speaker 4: The game when you started the other year, So now
- 12:02Speaker 4: it's been eight years since you've been out on the
- 12:03Speaker 4: mound for an All Star game. Damn, when you started
- 12:07Speaker 4: the other year, you kicked it into another gear. Do
- 12:11Speaker 4: you still have that gear? When we see you coming
- 12:14Speaker 4: out where you go it's an All Star gamer, I got,
- 12:16Speaker 4: I got a couple extra days off.
- 12:18Speaker 2: Do you have that gear?
- 12:19Speaker 4: Because I distinctly remember that playing during that time and
- 12:24Speaker 4: then watching you do that and knowing what you normally
- 12:26Speaker 4: throw in a normal start, and then you came out
- 12:28Speaker 4: and you were, like you impressed so many people in
- 12:32Speaker 4: the game, not even talking about fans out of the game.
- 12:34Speaker 2: Do you still have that gear? I don't.
- 12:38Speaker 3: I don't know if Alex is gonna like men going
- 12:40Speaker 3: into that gear, so you have it. I like to
- 12:48Speaker 3: think that I always have a little bit of an
- 12:50Speaker 3: extra gear, especially you know, when my bag gets against
- 12:53Speaker 3: the wall. I like to think I have, you know,
- 12:55Speaker 3: a trick up my sleeve. Whether that's a little bit
- 12:59Speaker 3: more about it on the break ball or a little
- 13:00Speaker 3: bit extra hump on the fastball.
- 13:04Speaker 2: But I don't know that's I think that's more of
- 13:08Speaker 2: a game time decision.
- 13:09Speaker 1: Did you have that in the World Series for the
- 13:11Speaker 1: Red Sox And I don't remember now, right because you.
- 13:13Speaker 2: Close out the World Series? What was the stuff Downside's
- 13:17Speaker 2: the starter stuff? Yeah?
- 13:19Speaker 3: I mean, and I think it's different when you're coming
- 13:21Speaker 3: out of the bullpen, like you know, as a starter,
- 13:23Speaker 3: it's hard, sir. It's hard to redline for one hundred pitches.
- 13:28Speaker 3: I think that's how I got that. So you know,
- 13:32Speaker 3: when you're in the burdpen, you're covering you know, obviously
- 13:36Speaker 3: less innings. You got, you know, fifteen to twenty five pitches,
- 13:40Speaker 3: So I think it's a little bit easier to kind
- 13:41Speaker 3: of empty the tank, you know, covering one inning as
- 13:46Speaker 3: opposed to you know, six to nine inning.
- 13:48Speaker 5: Big second half of the season coming up, there might
- 13:51Speaker 5: be a hot ticket, a rivalry series, a sold out
- 13:54Speaker 5: experience they need to get your hands on, and Seekeeek
- 13:58Speaker 5: is the spot for that. You can find good, good pricing.
- 14:01Speaker 5: They help you with the pricing. Green dot good, red
- 14:04Speaker 5: dot not as good and they help you with your
- 14:07Speaker 5: view of the seat for some big matchups coming up

- 14:12Speaker 4: Why would you not use see geek if you want
- 14:14Speaker 4: a view from your seat. You want to know if

- 14:52Speaker 2: are our closer one over any day.
- 14:55Speaker 3: Close it for a little bit yeah, you were already
- 14:57Speaker 3: he was our closer for a while with the White Dog.
- 14:59Speaker 2: That's how much they thought of Chris ll clearly, Uh,
- 15:02Speaker 2: what if they came to you? What have Doc said,
- 15:04Speaker 2: you know, Chris, we're gonna save you for extra innings,
- 15:07Speaker 2: and you have extra innings in an All Star game.
- 15:12Speaker 3: They did their owners knocking down.
- 15:15Speaker 2: There was this swing off last year.
- 15:19Speaker 3: Yeah, but I think I think there'd be would be
- 15:22Speaker 3: about thirty gms that that like fonts a knee with
- 15:24Speaker 3: like heart. Yeah, there's a lot of blood pressure medicine
- 15:29Speaker 3: getting passed out.
- 15:30Speaker 4: But what if they okay, whatever and you didn't pitched,
- 15:36Speaker 4: and Docs like, you know what, Chris, let's have some fun.
- 15:38Speaker 2: You go pitch the knife. What would it be different
- 15:41Speaker 2: for you?
- 15:42Speaker 4: And starting he wants the closer entrance, that's all he want.
- 15:46Speaker 2: To Mason Miller entrance.
- 15:48Speaker 3: By the way, if he's out there and I'm getting
- 15:50Speaker 3: to say, there's if something is going way off, Yeah,
- 15:56Speaker 3: if Miller is not closing that game out with something,
- 15:59Speaker 3: there's an Earth or something.
- 16:00Speaker 2: Yeah, it's hypothetical, though, would.
- 16:03Speaker 6: You do it?
- 16:04Speaker 2: Yeah? I would do it. Would it be like, man,
- 16:06Speaker 2: this is like fifteen years ago, back in the day.
- 16:08Speaker 2: I did have a lot of fun pitching in the bullpen.
- 16:13Speaker 2: You know.
- 16:13Speaker 3: It was one of I don't know if you remember
- 16:15Speaker 3: this too, Like when I got drafted, they were like, Hey,
- 16:18Speaker 3: we're going to get you the big big leagues, click,
- 16:20Speaker 3: but we're going to have you pitch out of the bullpen.
- 16:23Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm in. It's fine. What U so first got
- 16:26Speaker 2: to sign.
- 16:26Speaker 3: They're like, we can't give me any more money, but
- 16:28Speaker 3: you're going to be in the big leagues at the
- 16:29Speaker 3: end of the year.
- 16:30Speaker 2: I'm in. Going into that offseason, they told me I
- 16:33Speaker 2: was going to be a starter.
- 16:34Speaker 3: So I showed up in twenty eleven prepared to be
- 16:37Speaker 3: a starter, and I think it was like the first
- 16:39Speaker 3: couple of days of.
- 16:40Speaker 2: Spring training, they're like, hey, you're gonna be back in
- 16:42Speaker 2: the bullpen.
- 16:42Speaker 3: And I was kind of excited because I I love
- 16:45Speaker 3: that instant shot with adrenaline. I mean, it's it's you know,
- 16:47Speaker 3: as a starter, you kind of create your own nets,
- 16:50Speaker 3: you know, and you know when you're pitching out of
- 16:53Speaker 3: the bullpen and you're coming in there's a guy on
- 16:54Speaker 3: second base and nobody out and it's crunch time in
- 16:57Speaker 3: the game. You're in the sixth inning, the seventh inning,
- 16:59Speaker 3: the eighth inning, sometimes even the ninth inning, and that
- 17:02Speaker 3: instant shot of adrenaline is that. I mean, it's unmatched.
- 17:06Speaker 3: So not not saying that I would like to do
- 17:10Speaker 3: it full time again, but I did. I did enjoy
- 17:12Speaker 3: pitching out of the Don.
- 17:13Speaker 4: Cooper's still mad at you for blowing that game the
- 17:15Speaker 4: last game of the year against Toronto.
- 17:16Speaker 2: I messed up with Manageria defeated.
- 17:20Speaker 3: Yeah, you can live the game in the ninth well,
- 17:22Speaker 3: because he he do it what he probably has what.
- 17:24Speaker 2: Four games or three or four games something like that,
- 17:28Speaker 2: two and and then we get to the ninth we
- 17:30Speaker 2: have like a two run league. Last game they were
- 17:32Speaker 2: bringing Sia cost games over. I don't know how.
- 17:34Speaker 3: It just just dribbled down my leg, rub my undefeated record,
- 17:40Speaker 3: all about Coop. Yeah, ruled our fourth place finish exactly.
- 17:47Speaker 2: I don't. I think we talked about this.
- 17:49Speaker 4: I tell the story to people, but they asked you
- 17:51Speaker 4: about I said, when you it was twenty twelve, and
- 17:53Speaker 4: they told me Chris Sale gets twenty five sliders for
- 17:57Speaker 4: the game in Seattle and you were just rolling at
- 18:01Speaker 4: the time like he was rolling, And I'm like, but
- 18:04Speaker 4: that's his best pitch and you're like, no, we gotta
- 18:06Speaker 4: be careful. He's throwing too many sliders. Like do you
- 18:08Speaker 4: want to get the guys out or do you want
- 18:09Speaker 4: him to out their sliders? They're like no, So I
- 18:11Speaker 4: had to have sunflower season. I was flipping him every
- 18:14Speaker 4: time and then I ran out. We're like in the
- 18:15Speaker 4: fifth inning and he's cruising.
- 18:18Speaker 2: So I go in the day. I'm like, can I
- 18:20Speaker 2: throw some more sliders?
- 18:21Speaker 4: Like?
- 18:21Speaker 2: How mean? I'm like, I'm out, there's five more, one
- 18:25Speaker 2: more inning. I don't remember you kidding me? Well, if
- 18:28Speaker 2: you remember, so I pitched. So I pitched through April.
- 18:32Speaker 3: We get to like the beginning of May, and I
- 18:35Speaker 3: went to like go dry my hair off out of
- 18:37Speaker 3: the shower and my arm was just killing me. And
- 18:41Speaker 3: I remember saying something and we we went down on MRI.
- 18:44Speaker 3: It was like a like a light flexistrain or whatever.
- 18:47Speaker 3: And they're like, oh, you're gonna go back to the.
- 18:48Speaker 4: Bullpen, all right, not THEE, not the not the d
- 18:52Speaker 4: L at the time, to the bullpenn just an idea
- 18:55Speaker 4: of like guys staying healthy and.
- 18:57Speaker 2: Not saying herm schnyder oh man.
- 19:05Speaker 3: But I remember, I remember the guys I remember some
- 19:08Speaker 3: guys coming up to me and they're like, don't let
- 19:11Speaker 3: that happen, Like you need to be a starter, and
- 19:14Speaker 3: they're there are guys that like I looked up to
- 19:16Speaker 3: my like my veterans.
- 19:17Speaker 2: When I when I was a young guy, and.
- 19:19Speaker 3: They're like, you know, because I actually pitched well as
- 19:22Speaker 3: a starter. It just I kind of ran into a
- 19:23Speaker 3: little on problem like fatigue or whatever. And you know
- 19:27Speaker 3: as a first year as a starter, you're gonna kind
- 19:29Speaker 3: of run into those things. And I remember like fleeting
- 19:34Speaker 3: my case and it got somewhat animated, and I remember, uh,
- 19:41Speaker 3: we get back to back to Chicago, and I was
- 19:44Speaker 3: able to kind of slide my way back into the
- 19:47Speaker 3: into the rotation. So but it was after that they
- 19:50Speaker 3: were like, all right, we got a month into the season.
- 19:53Speaker 3: This guy has already kind of had like a little
- 19:55Speaker 3: you know, bump in the road. Let's let's try to
- 19:58Speaker 3: take care of them. So yeah, as count now, some
- 20:00Speaker 3: I seems to throw the blow like like one we
- 20:03Speaker 3: got eighteen.
- 20:03Speaker 4: I mean, you've told you've told the story, but it
- 20:06Speaker 4: is tremendous hearing it from yourself of it because it's
- 20:09Speaker 4: always backstory too.
- 20:11Speaker 3: That's so awesome, and it forced me to kind of
- 20:15Speaker 3: use my other pitches. I remember, you know, was a
- 20:17Speaker 3: big fan of They called it the BP fastball. Uh
- 20:20Speaker 3: you know, oh, oh, just kind of flip a sinker
- 20:23Speaker 3: in there at like eighty nine, ninety ninety one. You
- 20:26Speaker 3: remember Verlander, You start games like that, twenty eleven Verlander.
- 20:30Speaker 3: I mean, I know, pitch one thirty five was one
- 20:32Speaker 3: hundred and two, but like pitch one of the game
- 20:34Speaker 3: was like ninety two, and we'd kind of just cruise.
- 20:38Speaker 2: And then when he needed it, oh it was there.
- 20:40Speaker 2: Scooples just dead. The other day, he actually hit j.
- 20:42Speaker 2: T Romuto. So yesterday it was a two strike pitch
- 20:45Speaker 2: and he hit him in ninety eight.
- 20:47Speaker 4: Scott, who swings at like one first pitch ever, he
- 20:51Speaker 4: just threw him ninety four right down the middle. And
- 20:52Speaker 4: I was telling my sons, I'm like, he knows he's
- 20:55Speaker 4: not swinging if he does. No way, he's geared down
- 20:58Speaker 4: for ninety four. He's geared up from ninety eight one hundred.
- 21:01Speaker 4: People's VP fastball a little bit different than most. I mean,
- 21:04Speaker 4: come on, come on, you're you're right there. Actually he
- 21:08Speaker 4: actually still has to catch it. I'm going to put
- 21:10Speaker 4: that out there.
- 21:11Speaker 2: Yeahs to catch it. Someone who's drug tests this guy. Actually,
- 21:16Speaker 2: I agree. Chris. Good to see you, dude. Congrats on
- 21:18Speaker 2: i'm sure style appearance. Thanks for stopping by. It's appreciated, absolutely,
