- 2:40Thank you for being here this morning. Thank you. And now I
- 2:43think I texted you yesterday that I can't wait to get here to see your
- 2:46handsome you did you complimented me and said, because I texted you yesterday to
- 2:51remind you that today was your day on the show, and you said,
- 2:53I can't wait to see your handsome face. Thank you very much. I
- 2:55do have a handsome facet. Onna. You do actually for radio, for
- 3:00radio, it's it's perfect, it's perfect. Well, what was that guy
- 3:04who used to do with the news. He said, I'll see you on
- 3:06the radio. I have heard a lot of people and I can't remember his
- 3:09name. I don't know interesting to look that up. Got a little bit
- 3:14of an early story of this. I don't know what some technical issue,
- 3:15but you know you're here, I'm here, So here we go. Well,
- 3:19you know, I have some wonderful I always have wonderful news. But
- 3:22what I'm among the things that I'm very excited about is tomorrow we're adding a
- 3:28new class for our Mediterranean group. And we have a name for it.
- 3:32By the way, It's called fix It with Foods, Pixel with Foods,
- 3:36And that's what we want to emphasize that the the problems that so many of
- 3:40us have, if we learn how to change our eating habits, we can
- 3:45fix the ills that we have in our body. Medication isn't the answer.
- 3:50In fact, one of the articles that I shared with my group last Thursday
- 3:54night was simply that you can learn morph at the grocery store, at your
- 4:00health then at the doctor's office. And I want to make that point even
- 4:04stronger if people, you know, want to hear that. And so we
- 4:09have had an evening meeting, and we still have that evening meeting, but
- 4:13as of tomorrow, we are adding a morning session and that we're going to
- 4:17start at nine to fifteen and begin talking at nine forty five. And that's
- 4:21at seven oh six Central Avenue. It's inside the building for Shape Shop,
- 4:27but it's in a separate room. Okay, So so give us the whole
- 4:30idea behind the way these things work. I mean, you come out and
- 4:32you just talk to people. You do demonstrations, Well, we have to
- 4:35go support. We don't do demonstration, but we have a personal way in
- 4:41and we keep track of the great progress that so many people are making.
- 4:46In fact, I have one lady who's lost over seventy pounds really and her
- 4:49health has improved almost like it is skyrocketed. And her doctor says to her,
- 4:56listen, whatever you're doing, stop, keep doing it. And her
- 5:00diabetes is under control. So give us an idea of what it is that
- 5:02she is doing. I mean, I know it's eating healthful. Okay,
- 5:05give us an example. The food that she's eating is unadulterated, it doesn't
- 5:12have chemicals and preservatives. It's fresh, clean food. And that's what Mediterranean
- 5:17is based on, because when you think about it, all the countries that's
- 5:21around the Mediterranean Sea are the kinds of countries that don't Americanize their way of
- 5:29food shopping. They have to go to the market on a regular basis.
- 5:32They don't have ginormous freezers in their houses, and they have to buy fresh
- 5:38food. Well, that way of eating has come to this country. And
- 5:43there's a group out of Boston called Old Ways, and they brought the concept
- 5:48of Mediterranean eating to our shores. Back when I said nineteen ninety three and
- 5:54I became aware of it, I guess it was around twenty fifteen. I
- 6:00had already sold weight watchers, and I had just about finished the fact that
- 6:05I couldn't do anything in the industry for three years, which is a non
- 6:10compete standard thing. But I needed to do what I've always done, which
- 6:15has helped people help themselves to do that. And I love that. It's
- 6:20a wonderful thing, and it's been a wonderful thing for me for fifty four
- 6:26years that I'm in West Virginia. I mean, I came here. You
- 6:29weren't even born yet. I came here in nineteen sixty nine, and so
- 6:34when I year later, I was born one year later. Oh thank you.
- 6:38That makes me feel a little bit better, okay, And so I
- 6:42decided that before I can represent something, I need to go on it,
- 6:46and I did for about i'd say, almost five weeks, and it was
- 6:50a remarkable discovery. I've been eating healthy by weight Watchers for a long time,
- 6:56but this took it to so much of a higher level. And that's
- 7:00when I said, I'm gonna come back and I'm going to reinvent myself.
- 7:05And I started out calling it Millie Snyder's Succeed and we did that for a
- 7:11few years, and then we transitioned into the name fix It with Foods,
- 7:15which makes the most amount of sense. You can fix the problems in your
- 7:20body if you know what to eat right, and what to eat is clean,
- 7:26fresh, delicious food. Most people who live the Mediterranean lifestyle eat better
- 7:31than they've ever eaten. And you know, I had a new member last
- 7:34week, and when she saw on the vegetable page that potatoes are a vegetable,
- 7:40she hardly can wipe a smile off of her face because potatoes aren't the
- 7:45evil thing that a lot of the people a lot of different I hate to
- 7:48say diet plans, but a lot of health plans or whatever lack of that
- 7:53you're told. You know, these are the potatoes are absolutely out. And
- 7:57that's not the case, is what you're saying with Mediterranean and no, absolutely
- 8:01not. And bread is allowed, but good bread, I'm not what is
- 8:03good bread? Oh gosh, sour dough bread, rye bread, a pumper
- 8:07nickel, a whole wheat bread, but good quality, whole wheat bread where
- 8:11you just know that it's the best thing you've ever put in your mouth.
- 8:16Yeah, we use in our shop. We use Dave's killer bread when we
- 8:20make Pannini's, and that is it is good bread. And when you eat
- 8:24a panini and or just make a regular sandwich on that bread, you're satisfied.
- 8:28You're full. If you eat white and rich bread. They took all
- 8:31the good stuff and they gave it someplace else. I want to ask you
- 8:35about this, Millie, and just get this is kind of a difficult thing
- 8:39to get into. But in America, we don't we don't necessarily promote healthy
- 8:45eating. And we know that you said you talked about americanizing, but somebody
- 8:48texted the show and I think this was maybe last month of the month before
- 8:50because after you had already left, and it just kind of occurred to me
- 8:54for some reason, is that you know, we can get on the way.
- 8:56You come on with me once a month and we talk about these things.
- 9:00But if, unfortunately, the way it is, if someone is on
- 9:03a limited budget, healthy eating in some cases, and you can argue this
- 9:09if you want, you can refute it, I would prefer I'd like for
- 9:13you to actually is that healthy eating is expensive. And one of the reasons
- 9:16why it is that. I know this sounds like sounds like the most horrible
- 9:22thing in the world to say, but I stole this from a comedian,
- 9:26but it's actually true. America maybe the only land in the world where the
- 9:31poor people are fat. And I'm looking at myself in the mirror when I
- 9:33say that. All right, so just say you know that, but that's
- 9:37kind of where we are because the bad stuff for you, it's cheap,
- 9:43and that's why and that's why people go there. So how do we fix
- 9:46that? How do we make it more healthy for people people that would like
- 9:50to eat healthy but they just simply can't afford it. But I would like
- 9:54to show people how they can do it with beans, with fruits. And
- 10:00I'm not necessarily saying the most expensive fruits because I understand the concept. I
- 10:07understand the difference. But I can show people how to do it on a
- 10:11very low cost budget that you could buy a chicken. Now, of course
- 10:16there's a lot of have large families, but I can show you how to
- 10:22do it with chicken, beans and canned vegetables, some frozen vegetables. And
- 10:28it doesn't have to be the creme de la creme, which means that you
- 10:31know the top of the food chain. And I would be thrilled, honored
- 10:35in fact, to have that opportunity to work with a group of people and
- 10:39show them how to do it. Because you can do powdered milk. It
- 10:43doesn't have to be already liquefied. There are ways that we can have the
- 10:48best of the best, but a little differently, and I would welcome that
- 10:54opportunity. And then West Virginia. West Virginia is the oldest state in the
- 10:58nation as far as the app with the average ages. Where the oldest state
- 11:03in the nation. We have a great number of people that are on fixed
- 11:05incomes, whether they're older or not. You know, they're getting governmental assistance
- 11:09or something like that. And that's what I think the whole concept behind this
- 11:13text that I had received from someone said, Hey, you know a lot
- 11:16of people in West Virginia you would like to eat healthy, but unfortunately,
- 11:22as I said, they just can't afford it. But you're saying that it
- 11:24can be done and you can teach them how to do it. And I
- 11:26would like to kind of costs are there for these classes that you well,
- 11:30by the way, just to start, it's twenty five dollars and then it's
- 11:33twelve dollars a week, and then there's a discount program on top of that.
- 11:37Okay, the object is not to make money, it's to help people
- 11:39help themselves. Okay, what else you got going on? Well, I
- 11:43just want to tell you that our tiny little restaurant at Shape Shop, and
- 11:48you've visited us, we are busy every day for lunch, and it's exciting
- 11:54because more and more people are discovering the quality of our food. We had
- 11:58a whole crowd in there yesterday and want two gentlemen ordered the salmon and I
- 12:03know you've had that, Yeah, And when he finished eating it, he
- 12:05said, I just had the best salmon I've ever eaten in my whole entire
- 12:09life. So it's very gratifying that people are in fact finding us at seven
- 12:15oh six central to get too. Plenty of free parking. There's no costs,
- 12:20there's no meters, there's park right if you can't walk, farting,
- 12:22park right in front of the store. And we also have a handicap parking
- 12:26space. We also have a handicap entrance. So I'm excited about that.
- 12:31All right. I got a text here waiting on you. Oh good.
- 12:35Somebody text and says Millie, my wife has kidney issues and high blood pressure.
- 12:39Can your lifestyle help her? Absolutely? Okay, absolutely well, But
- 12:43first at number one, I have to be able to have her come in,
- 12:46and I need to teach her the Mediterranean lifestyle and I will show her
- 12:52how changing the eating will help that blood pressure come down, and hopefully by
- 12:58putting in the healthy foods her kidney disorder. And of course I'm not a
- 13:03doctor. Yes, I'm not a real doctor, right, nor do you
- 13:07play one on TV or radio? No, I don't, But I believe
- 13:11that healthy eating can have something impactful happen with her kidney disorder. No,
- 13:18I cannot make the statement publicly that yes, we will cure everything. What
- 13:24we can do is help some of these maladies get improved, become improved,
- 13:30okay. And we also want to reiterate that when you come over to the
- 13:35Shape Shop, it's not necessarily you can come there and you can have lunch,
- 13:39you can grab you know, I've eaten there many times, as you
- 13:41said myself. But you can teach people how to do this in their own
- 13:45home. You have plenty of books, You have plenty of literature that they
- 13:46can take home with them. I've written a Mediterranean cookbook, I have a
- 13:50meatless cookbook. And by the way, if people buy the meatless cookbook and
- 13:54they don't like the meatless meals, they can add chicken, or they can
- 13:56put whatever they want in it. Because meatless is certainly a wonderful thing.
- 14:03But people need to discover that. And that's another thing for low budget living
- 14:07and what you can afford. The meatless concept is a wonderful way to change
- 14:15your eating with the Mediterranean lifestock. Can you eat red meat occasionally? We
- 14:18don't do it like I used to do it in my young what's the biggest
- 14:22problem with red me? Because I'm a red meat eater, I'm a steakka,
- 14:24I'm fat, saturated fat, and that fat stays in your bloodstream.
- 14:31So all of those things okay, and pork is not recommended. Have you
- 14:37seen a skinny pig out there? Well, not a healthy one anyway.
- 14:41Oh, thank you very much. All right, So where are you going
- 14:43to be out in the bat You're always going somewhere, You're always setting up
- 14:46shops any places. Yes, we are. We're going to take the food
- 14:50truck out in the month of October. Every Wednesday, we're going to be
- 14:54at Slack Plaza. And there's a new car show that's going to be come
- 15:00into Charleston on October fourteenth. But the unique thing about that car show is
- 15:05the cars are going to be set up with things to help disable people be
- 15:11less encumbered, and that it's brand new. Okay, there's been car shows
- 15:18here forever, but this is a whole different concept. That's Saturday, October
- 15:22fourteenth, and our food truck has been invited and we're going to show up.
- 15:28All right, good stuff, Give us the address, give us the
- 15:30phone number. You're available, and you have a great social media presence out
- 15:33there the website. Give us all the stuff for the social media president presence
- 15:37is a gal named Tiffany Grayley, and she does a great job with that
- 15:41seven zero six Central Avenue, and it's just a little bit past five corners.
- 15:48Now some people say they can't find us because they don't know where it
- 15:52is on the west side. But for all the years that we were at
- 15:56Patrick Street, that was the west side. But we won't have that discussion.
- 16:00But anyway, we're very we're yes, it's about a long block and
- 16:04a half past five corners and that's where Central Avenue begins at five corners.
- 16:11And it's you got plenty as you said, plenty free parking, handicaps as
- 16:15well, park right on the street. There's no meters, it's a it's
- 16:18just a very easy in and out and if you're looking for something to do
- 16:21for lunch, head over there. If you're the people that works in downtown
- 16:25Charleston will be over there in almost no time. All the things that we
- 16:27will serve and they'll select it from the menu. I believe they'll be very
- 16:32happy. We have sugar free ice cream, and of course we have all
- 16:36of our sweets are sweetened with stevia. And our muffins are so good that
- 16:41I'm they're unbelievable. They were good at Patrick Street, but now they are
- 16:47one hundred percent better than that. And that was great, good stuck.
- 16:49All right, Millie, it's always a pleasure to talk to you here.
- 16:52We'll talk to you soon. Thank you, Davis. Now you have a
- 16:55birthday coming up, don't you. Is it saying yes? Next next month?

- 20:18I'll talk a little slower than maybe maybe I get to I always get lit
- 20:22up by people they say I talked too fast, which is funny because I
- 20:26think too slow. So but it comes out one of these days. Maybe
- 20:29it'll catch up. It'll catch up. Well, first of all, I
- 20:32got to get this out away. My thoughts on hear me out here.
- 20:34My thoughts are with you and your beloving your Jets following the loss of your
- 20:38quarterback Aaron Rodgers. See. I watched Hard Knox during as you and I've
- 20:41talked about. I'm a big fan of Hard Knocks and I like Aaron Rodgers.
- 20:45I liked him in Green Bay, and I had high hopes for you
- 20:48New York Jets. I really thought that we would see a Jets Cowboys Super
- 20:52Bowl. And I'm not saying that just because Hope springs eternal. For Cowboy
- 20:57fans, Cowboys are a pretty darn and good football team. Now. Boys
- 21:00are probably the It pains me to say this, but I'm a football fan.
- 21:06I'll watch a lot. I watch that entire game, I watch other
- 21:08games. Dallas Cowboys are probably right now and this snapshot in time, they're
- 21:14the best team in the NFL right now. Yeah, and it's largely because
- 21:17of Michael Parson. It is he's I mean, the guy is, and
- 21:19I mean it's like he's five steps ahead of everybody. He's so you can't
- 21:22block and he just you know, they call him the game wrecker and it's
- 21:26and we had no answer to Michael Parsons. And also our defense was not
- 21:32playing up to their building. We have what people think is a top five
- 21:34defense, and they were unable to stop the Cowboys on offense all day.
- 21:38So if you can't keep can't take the offense off the field, and you
- 21:41can't block Michael Parsons, and you're in for a long day. And I
- 21:45think you're gonna you might see a lot of that, of course, until
- 21:47it gets later, and it's early in the season. Is so we'll see
- 21:49what happens with Dallas plays Arizona this week. And the Cowboys always have a
- 21:52way to lose these games that they shouldn't lose, and they play Arizona this
- 21:56week, so we'll see what they're not losing that game. Well, you
- 21:59just name right out of this down and as far as it being the best
- 22:00team, and even in the NFC, there's a team in San Francisco,
- 22:03but the might have something to say about that, but they're good. I'm
- 22:07happy. I'm happy with it. I don't like the Cowboys. It pains
- 22:10me to say this, but as in the first two weeks they are the
- 22:12best team. Yeah, I want to get your take on this. We've
- 22:15got plenty of things we want to get to. And it also give me
- 22:18a chance to promote something that we have going on tonight, and that is
- 22:22this high school transfer rule. And the reason I say tonight because on Wednesday
- 22:27nights, we have a show, the Metro News High School Sports Line.
- 22:30All two hours of the show are going to be devoted to talking about this
- 22:33transfer rule. And I've talked about it a lot on the show. I've
- 22:37had people actually on both sides of the aisle, no pun intended, on
- 22:40both sides of the argument. This was passed by the legislature and the governor
- 22:44didn't sign it. You know, he didn't sign it. But a lot
- 22:48of people are upset about it, Michael. They're saying that this is ruining
- 22:51high school sports and West Virginia. Other people are saying, hey, as
- 22:53a parent, I should have the right to send my kid wherever I want
- 22:56without penalty. Where are you on this high school transfer rule? You know,
- 23:00I definitely see both sides of it because it was attached to another bill.
- 23:03It was attached to a bill that I didn't think was fair Okay,
- 23:07that's saying that if you pull your your children out of school, and then
- 23:10of course the money follows them because of this, uh this voucher system that
- 23:14the Republican legislature has created and the governor signed. But if you then,
- 23:18if you pull them out, then you could then send them to participate in
- 23:23any other in extracurricular activities in any of these schools. And that's what was
- 23:29referred to as school choice. I just feel that if we're gonna be fair,
- 23:32if we're gonna have school choice, it needs to be if you're gonna
- 23:34have it, it should be for everybody. I do think it will.
- 23:37It will balance out. I mean, the best I'm from what I've seen.
- 23:41I've watched some high school football this year. Huntington High is by far
- 23:45the best team that I've seen. And they don't have very many transfers.
- 23:49They just have a very good program that they've built up. But maybe it
- 23:52percise of the proximity to Marshall University. I mean, they have a good
- 23:55football team or college football team in town there that they maybe they're able to
- 23:59train I train on those facilities. I don't know. Well, for whatever
- 24:02reason, they've got a very good team with very few transfers. And then
- 24:04you see a team like Late Hurricane who has a whole lot of transfers,
- 24:08a lot from here in Kanall County. Well, they, you know,
- 24:11came up to GW last week and lost. Yeah, so I do think
- 24:15it could balance out. But now you know, well I think it would
- 24:18bothered me most of all about the entire issue is that was the longest debate
- 24:22that we had in the House of Delegates last session. It was about high
- 24:26school sports. That was more important than uh, you know, raising insurance
- 24:30premiums on public employees. That was more important than so many other issues.
- 24:37And I'll say and I'll say this, and I'm like you, Mike,
- 24:38I am a hardcore sports fan. I love high school sports as well.
- 24:42But I will say this, as many people that are upset about this high
- 24:45school transfer rule, I wish they would be that upset about low test scores.
- 24:51I wish they would be that upset about problems in the school. And
- 24:53again, I again I'm speaking as a sports fan, but man, I
- 24:56would love to see people light up social media about chronic absenteeism. Hoppy did
- 25:03a big feature on that this week. We got kids missing eighteen twenty days
- 25:06of school a year. That's a big problem. All the teachers, unions
- 25:11and the teacher and everybody's talking about that. I'd like to see people so
- 25:15upset about that. In addition to the high school transfer. It's rare that
- 25:21I'll say this, but we're in complete agreement on that. That's what people
- 25:25should be focused on. A very very small percentage, unfortunately, you know,
- 25:29very small percentage of our high school athletes are going to are going to
- 25:33play in the next year. I mean they're done. Everybody who do get
- 25:36scholarships, and that's great, and they should focus on their education when they
- 25:40do that, because even less from that percentage are going to make it as
- 25:41professionals. So we should be more focused on academics. All right, So
- 25:47yesterday the Governor might announced that Hollis Lewis will complete the term of now former
- 25:52Delicate Doug scaff who resigned earlier this month. Programming note, Delicate, Hollis
- 25:56Lewis will be on the show tomorrow. Your thoughts on the Hollis Lewis.
- 26:00I think it was an excellent choice by the governor. I'm proud to call
- 26:06Hollis Lewis soon to be delegate soon he gets sworn in. Delegate Hollis Lewis.
- 26:10I'm proud to call him a friend. He is a great guy.
- 26:12He's a family guy. Uh uh. He's involved with youth sports. He's
- 26:18a former magistrate uh uh. He and teaches classes over at West Virginia State.
- 26:22I think he used to work for the Charleston Area Alliance. Very well
- 26:26rounded individual and he will be a great addition to the Democratic Caucus in the
- 26:30House of Delegates. Look forward to serving with him. Your thoughts on on
- 26:33Doug scaff stepping down, Well, I think you know. Doug said he
- 26:37was stepping down to focus on on business and family. I imagine it would
- 26:41be difficult to run HD media and as well as served the public in the
- 26:47House of Delegates. And I've enjoyed Doug is also a very good friend.
- 26:51I've enjoyed my time serving with Doug, and I wish him the best.
- 26:53And and for some reason, I don't think we've seen the last. Oh
- 26:56no, you have Scaff and but he's he Doug's a good guy. I
- 26:59really I I've enjoyed serving with him. He was our minority leader for a
- 27:02couple of sessions, and you know, I don't have enough good to say
- 27:07about him. I'm also really looking forward to working with Hollis. I don't
- 27:11know whether you win because the decision is made, correct me if I'm wrong.
- 27:15I mean, when when we appoint someone, when someone steps down,
- 27:18the county Executive Committee submits names to the governors, that we submit three names.
- 27:22Okay, Well, somebody asked the question who were the other names were
- 27:25submitted? Other names that were submitted by the Canal County and not the state
- 27:29party, but the Cana County Democratic Executive Committee as well as of course,
- 27:33I believe Hollis Lewis had the most votes in that committee meeting, but also
- 27:37an attorney in town named Alex Urban and former state Senate candidate Sam Wood.
- 27:45Okay, alright, so Hollis Lewis is the is the new delegator will be
- 27:49I guess when he's sworn in, he'll be on the show tomorrow. Tech
- 27:52says the issue is not with the score's. It's a number on the number
- 27:56of transfers occurring. South Charleston has lost six players. Cha, this is
- 28:00are they were skill players and lost that Losing that many is devastated. Forty
- 28:03three football transfers in Kanaan County. Well, I think it's an issue that
- 28:07we're most likely is going to be addressed in the next session. It will
- 28:10be. It will now. Last week, Mike, I had Senator Amy
- 28:15Grady on the show, and she's one of the ones that doesn't have a
- 28:18problem. She wants to hear all sides, but she doesn't have a problem
- 28:22with it. She didn't think it's going to go very far in the legislature.
- 28:23Now, the other I know, delicate Dana Farrell was one that was
- 28:26really really beating the drum against this thing. Uh, Senator Grady doesn't think
- 28:30that it's going to go very far in the legislature next year. And hurricanes
- 28:33in her district career. Uh well no, not really. Well yeah,
- 28:38yeah, okay, yes it is. Yeah, I was trying to think.
- 28:41I get that sometimes I have a tency to get the House and the
- 28:42Senate mixed up as far as the district is. But but I was kidding.
- 28:47I don't think that's what has affected it. No, I mean it's
- 28:48I mean it. Look, the Republican Legislature for years has been calling with
- 28:55what they call school choice really and and much of those policies have just been
- 28:59detrimental to public education in general. And I don't believe it's it's about school
- 29:03choice for them. It's about school choice for some. Okay, now this
- 29:07bill expanded that and people are not happy with the results. But I tell
- 29:11you, I'm not happy with the results. Are many of these quote unquote
- 29:15school choice laws that have been passed over the years, Whether it's the privatization
- 29:19of public funds and creating these corporate charter schools with absolutely no regulation or any
- 29:26kind of oversight over them, whether it's taking money out of the public school
- 29:30system and this voucher system that they call Hope scholarships that has just been detrimental
- 29:33to public schools, or just the horrible disrespect and mistreatment of our of our
- 29:40of our public school teachers. We're losing in droves, especially to neighboring states,
- 29:45to treat their teachers better. So I think it's been an ongoing attack
- 29:48on public education. It's going on over the years, and it seems that
- 29:52people are just now really paying attention to it because you know, it's affecting
- 29:56the Friday night football scores. Texas Pushkin states scaff is a good guy.
- 30:00Wonder if Pushkin will change his tune. When scaff goes Republican, you know,
- 30:06he's a good that will still be friends no matter what. I mean,
- 30:07whatever, no matter what, there's things that are that are more important
- 30:11than politics, believe it or not. And that's plenty. I have plenty
- 30:15of friends who on the other side of the aisle I disagree with their with
- 30:18them on policy issues. Uh, but you know, but they can still
- 30:22be friends with people that I disagree with. And right now, and Doug
- 30:26resigned as a Democrat and he was replaced by a Democrat, and he's still
- 30:30a Democrat. I continue to hear that he's gonna run for Secretary of State,
- 30:34and I think he. I think that he will. That's that's what
- 30:37I'm thinking. Again, I have no inside. I don't think he's made
- 30:40his mind up. And he can come on announce and make he said it
- 30:41would be sometimes probably in October when he done. But I don't believe he's
- 30:45made up his mind. YE don't think he's weighing all options. But I
- 30:47believe And when he says focusing on his business and his family. He's got
- 30:51young children and he's got a business to take care of. Five and el

- 34:13with us this morning. I got this just before I went on the air.
- 34:15Michael, breaking news. I needed breaking news sounder here. But a
- 34:22release came out that West Virginia State Finance chairman, that would be Eric Tarr,
- 34:25endorses Alex Mooney Wow for Senate. I'm not going to read the whole
- 34:30thing, but basically says I strongly endorsed at Commoney for the US Senate.
- 34:35American families, fundamental values, children, constitutional freedoms under attack now more than
- 34:39ever. Republicans need to send conservatives to the Senate. Skipping a head air
- 34:45Justice Jim Justice says Eric Tarr and the release propelled himself to popularity to be
- 34:50a marketing and no substance. Much like Budweiser parading Spuds Mackenzie while aligning themselves
- 34:57against American values, Jim Just has directed attention to his dog while he surrounded
- 35:01himself and polluted the Governor's office with the political team of Joe Mansion. Some
- 35:07of the comments made by in a press release by Senor Financial Eric Tarr thoughts.
- 35:10So Senator Tar compared uh Jim Justice to Spuds Mackenzie. Apparently, yeah,
- 35:15well, I guess to Budweiser for putting it, for using a dog,
- 35:20using a dog, and over substance. According to uh, over substance.
- 35:23Well, you know, earlier in the show, I found myself in
- 35:27agreement with you that academics are more important than athletics when it comes to you
- 35:31know, secondary education. And and I partially I'm finding myself partially in agreement
- 35:39with Senator Tar, who I don't agree with on anything. But and I
- 35:45definitely don't agree that that you know that you know that Alex Mooney was any
- 35:49business in the US Senate, But uh, he's he's he's favoring him over
- 35:52Jim Justice. And I would have to I don't think that that Governor Justice
- 35:58is up to the task of represent named West Virginia in the United States Senate.
- 36:01And you can just I mean, look at the front page of the
- 36:05gazette today. They're talking about his properties being auctioned off on courthouse steps all
- 36:08over Southern West scaff would be happy. I have a copy of it right
- 36:12here. Southern West Virginia is in bad shape right now. And that's affecting
- 36:15county governments and their ability to serve people, their ability to perform basic services
- 36:21for people, the fact that our governor refuses to pay property taxes nearly and
- 36:24let me jump in here. This was a story about Mike Tony and the
- 36:27gazette mails this morning. Nearly three hundred Jim Justice properties were auctioned off.
- 36:31They owed almost four hundred thousand dollars to DELINQ with taxes. They went up
- 36:35for public sale and auctions in June. Roughly ninety five percent of those properties
- 36:39sold other buyersuch just over five hundred thousand dollars. That is according to a
- 36:43Gazette mail review of these the Auditors Office data. That story in the hd
- 36:47HD media is Charleston Gazette mail for Mike Tony. This, yeah, and
- 36:50that's that's issues with the governors, you know, his personal businesses that he
- 36:53never put in a blind trust. He's still running his businesses. And you
- 36:58hear about you know, funns and taxes owed and you know, not paying
- 37:01premiums for his coal miners. There are those personal issues, but also on
- 37:07as far as being you know, in public service. And I've said it
- 37:09many times, but it's true. Every single aspect of state government is just
- 37:15is either failing or in complete chaos or just in a complete a culture of
- 37:22toxicity under governor justice. And the most recent example, yesterday's h front page
- 37:30headline on the gazette was about problems over the Department of Transportation where the governor's
- 37:36hand picked Secretary Transportation has refused to yeah, he refused to to remove himself
- 37:44to accuse himself from the bidding process when they were giving out very large contracts
- 37:49to a contractor that that employs his son U. That's illegal. And you
- 37:59know, we've known about this for quite some time, but now it's just
- 38:00now coming out because and this is the part that's really troubling, because they
- 38:05knew it was illegal. Being the governor's office knew it was illegal and tried
- 38:07to hide it and refused to respond to Freedom of Information Act requests, and
- 38:14I know it gets a bit maybe I don't know why nobody's talking about this,
- 38:17maybe because it's a little bit you know, it's it's you know,
- 38:20it's I guarantee Alex Mooney's campaign is gonna be talking about it, and people
- 38:23should be talking about it because it's illegal, and it's very it's it's it's
- 38:28more than just an appearance of impropriety. When you are the one making decisions
- 38:31of where state where public funds go and you decide to give it to a
- 38:37contractor that employs your son. H that's it's gonna be brought out in the
- 38:43campaign, and I tell you it was brought out in the paper. It's
- 38:45gonna be brought out whole, I think, but not only by Alex Mooney's
- 38:49people, but also I think by a lot of political I mean, because
- 38:52justice is miles ahead of the FA. The FOIA is the Freedom of Information
- 38:57Act request. That's when a journalist who ever ask you know, the state
- 39:01to provide this information and they're required to, they ignore it and when they
- 39:07do get around to doing it, well, I think they had to be
- 39:08sued over this one. I believe the gazette reporter had to sue for this
- 39:13information, which they shouldn't have to do in the United States of America,
- 39:15they sue for the information, and what they get a lot of times has
- 39:21a misrepresentation of facts, which I personally, I mean, a very easy
- 39:25way to call it would be a lie. A misrepresentation of the facts that
- 39:30they get when they do get when they do respond to these Freedom of Information
- 39:32Act requests, it's a it's going to be a problem. And there's a
- 39:37whole whole mess of problems that are coming from that department that I'm hearing about,
- 39:43from the Department of Transportation, and that's just one of the completely chaotic,
- 39:47toxic departments under Governor Jim Justice. You have the DHR which has been
- 39:53a complete miss. You have uh, you know, Homeland Security where we
- 39:58have the National Guard having to staff our our prisons. Every single aspect of
- 40:07state government right now just in complete disarray under his watch. And now he's
- 40:10now he wants to be in the Senate. Going back to the charter school
- 40:14issue, Texas, there's an entire board that's appointed by the governor to provide
- 40:17oversight to charter schools. Yeah, that's picked by the governor a lot of
- 40:22people who were, as most boards are who were Yeah, and it was
- 40:24handpicked of people who were who've been proponents of charter schools the entire time,
- 40:30and there's been very little oversight of that. Well one thing, I mean,
- 40:32I think appoint of a board of Foxes to be in charge of the
- 40:36Henhouse. How about that promo promo? Right? So I have to tell
- 40:42you yesterday I heard part of an interview with Dale Lead from the West Virginiage
- 40:45Case and Association on with Hoppy yesterday and they were talking about this chronic absenteeism,
- 40:51which I mean, you know that's that's a major problem for another show,
- 40:52and Hoppies covered it in detail. But he was also talking about charter
- 40:57schools. And I have not seen the data on this. I'll go back
- 40:59and look at it, but it talked about that the scores for charter schools
- 41:04in West Virginia weren't as good as what people thought they would be. That's
- 41:08not surprising, it's it's not surprising, and I'll get I'll go I'll do
- 41:13a deep dive into those on a later show. But you're not a fan
- 41:15of charter schools, at all. Now, I'm I'm a fan of improving
- 41:19the public schools that we have. I think that education is the great,
- 41:22you know, equalizer in our society. And everybody has a shot of of
- 41:28of improving their lives. And everybody has a shot at the American dream if
- 41:31they just you know, go to school, study, do your work.
- 41:36But we got to make sure they have great public schools, for free public
- 41:39schools for all the children to attend. I find it. I mean,
- 41:44I'm very happy to hear you say that, because you said something there that
- 41:46not a lot of Democrats, not a lot of liberal democrats across America.
- 41:51We'll say you said everybody has a shot of the American dream. There's a
- 41:54certain mindset in this country, Mike, that that says the people, not
- 41:58everybody. You're you're getting your definition of Democrats from the wrong news source.
- 42:04But of course we believe in the America. Okay, But but I mean,
- 42:07and of course we will. We love this country. I never doubted
- 42:10it. Well, I never doubted the results of an election. Okay,
- 42:16Well I've never you know, condoned people's storming in the US capital. But
- 42:22no, we love this country. And and you know, or to be
- 42:25portrayed anyway else is just not true. Tech says uh Tars supports Mooney question
- 42:31mark shocker, uh Tech says breaking news. Senator Taring Doors is a Canada
- 42:36who's credibly accused of stealing campaign and tax money. The Office of Congressional Ethics
- 42:39has probably call us to believe Mooney misappropriated funds. Why does a finance share
- 42:45overlook financial misdeeds? Tars to invest it in the genitalia of others to know
- 42:49what's right invested in the Genitalia. I don't even want to come on that.
- 42:53I don't, but I will agree that with the both of the Republican
- 42:59front runners for a US senator are incredibly flawed candidates, and he's in the
- 43:04texture, is right? Alex Mooney as was under investigation before the Republicans took
- 43:09control of the House, I believe, but he was under investigation for misspending
- 43:13campaign finance money, you know on Chick fil A and expensive. Now I
- 43:19would like to know more about the governor's campaign finance reports, but he fails.
- 43:22He refuses. As last I checked, he refuses to report on his
- 43:27campaign, So what are we going to see it? Just like he refuses
- 43:30to pay taxes. He refuses to pay find he refuses to pay the the
- 43:34insurance benefits for insurance premiums for his minors. He refuses to follow the He
- 43:38doesn't follow the rules. When it comes to some of the recent appointments that
- 43:43he's made, he doesn't follow the rules. And he and he's not following
- 43:46the campaign finance rules five and el I brought to a party about Hustins Pizza

- 43:58Texas, There's no way on God's green Earth the justice could possibly be less
- 44:02capable of performing the duties of representing the people of West Virginia than Fester Fetterman,
- 44:12Well, you getting got to wear a suit and tie? Come on,
- 44:14man, I think that he's, uh you doing a fine job.
- 44:16I'm not going to comment on his wardrobe choices personally. You know, I
- 44:21have no problem putting on a on a suit when I have to, But
- 44:23on a day like today, when I'm just talking to you on the radio,
- 44:27I'm wearing a grateful dead T shirt. Uh, Texas, Texas says
- 44:30Puttnham County continues to be an attractive place for people from Kanalla County to come
- 44:34to. They've been leaving wacky Knawa for years and coming to quiet conservative family
- 44:38or in a Putnam County. Even the student athletes want out of Cana.
- 44:42According to a Texter, well are they Are they living there or are they
- 44:45just playing football there? Well, there's a lot of people living there.
- 44:49I can tell you I live there, and there are more people coming and
- 44:52people are moving there. But I've been wondering if the student athletes that are
- 44:55playing for Putnam County high schools are their families moving It's a legitimate I don't
- 45:01know, are they moving there or are they just commuting or sports. There's
- 45:07a whole lot of people moving there because of the new corps. I can
- 45:09tell you that. Yeah, Well that's great, and that's all. It
- 45:13was all done because of the inflation. Were done at all, not all
- 45:15mostly called up well called the Infrastructure Bill that created the infrastructure around the facility,
- 45:21which was bipartisan, but let's face at President Trump couldn't get it done.
- 45:24Well, let me ask you this about that. And then we got
- 45:25to go to break because This was a point I thought that was really good.
- 45:29That was brought up by Mitch Carmichael not long on Hot long ago on
- 45:31Hoppy. He was talking about that infrastructure bill. And yes, I mean,
- 45:35I'm one that admits that a lot of these things were seen in West
- 45:37Virginia were because of that. Okay, I agree with that, because however,
- 45:40but they're choosing because of the bill which build the infrastructure bill or the
- 45:44Inflation Reduction Actor both. I think it's a combination of both, I really
- 45:47do, and I agree how many Republicans voted. But why did they choose
- 45:52West Virginia though? Because they are all fifty states and the territories were in
- 45:55the running. Why are they choosing, Mike, West Virginia because why are
- 46:00they choosing West Virginia? Is it because right to work? Is it because
- 46:07we have a better workers compensation system? Is it because of any of these
- 46:08things? Why are they choosing because of I mean, if you look at
- 46:12the states that don't have these anti labor laws like right to work, they're
- 46:16generally doing a lot better, and the other states are actually also getting a
- 46:20huge amount of investment. There's actually a lot more. You know, recently,
- 46:23I went on this I was part of this group. We were learning
- 46:28more about how to rebuild parties. And the chair of the Pennsylvania Democratic Party
- 46:34was there and he was talking about all the growth that's going on right on
- 46:36the other side of the border. Right on the other side of the border,
- 46:39we had the chair of the Maryland Democrator, the executive director of the
- 46:43Maryland Democratic Party. He was telling about all the growth that's going on right
- 46:45on the other side of the border. So they're not just choosing West Virginia.
- 46:49We're getting a good part of it. And a lot of it has
- 46:51to do with our senior senator. Senator Mansion was the help was the one

- 49:57had nothing to do with New Core coming here. They were, I mean
- 50:00way before that was ever discussed. These projects are coming here after getting conservatives
- 50:05in after many years of democratic rule. Was it seventy or eighty years of
- 50:08mismanagement? Newcorn was in the works before this act. I disagreed, but
- 50:13that pushed him over the over the edge there, and because there was a
- 50:16lot of investment into that type of and you know, Newcors a green company,
- 50:22and there was a lot of investment in that type of that type of
- 50:25energy. But this was in the works though. But but you're saying it's
- 50:29it's what pushed it over. It was also I think one of the main
- 50:31things my new Cordo was was actually the inflation sorry, was the infrastructure bill
- 50:37that President Biden was able to do in his his first two years in the
- 50:39office, because they were able to use that to create what was needed around
- 50:44the plant to attract Had that not happened, we wouldn't have gotten newcorn.
- 50:47There's a whole lot of things going on around that plant if you'd have been
- 50:51down an Apple Grove lately in the surrounding areas as well. Mike, what
- 50:53are we going to see some Democratic candids start rolling out? We had the
- 50:57afterday State Senator Rich Lindsay on the show. He now, so we will
- 51:00be running for Circuit judge Kaw County. We know that your friend Steve Williams,
- 51:04the mayor of Huntington, is going to be running for governor of the
- 51:07Democratic ticket. What are we going to see maybe for some of these other,
- 51:09uh other other races we are we are working on. Of course,
- 51:14the filing period is in January, and it's what we've spend a good part
- 51:17of our days working on or calling prospective candidates, calling members of county committees
- 51:22because they know who the best candidates are for different offices in their neck of
- 51:25the woods. And uh we are definitely having a lot of conversations and getting
- 51:30more and more commitments, and in coming months you we'll hear uh more options
- 51:37for voters. But I would just say, you know, there's a lot
- 51:38of people that I've talked to are who are fairly fed up with a lot
- 51:42of uh you know this nearly a decade of Republican rule with an attacks on
- 51:46public education, attempts to pull money out of our public schools, attacks on
- 51:52on higher education where consistently uh you know, been underfunding higher education. Now
- 51:58we're seeing the results of it with with faculty being laid off, courses of
- 52:01study being cut, different majors being cut, People who are upset with seeing
- 52:06our flagship university just being completely dismantled and destroyed. We're seeing people who are
- 52:10upset with the ongoing attacks on workers. You mentioned this state being a right
- 52:15to work state, with the repeal of prevailing wage that the Republicans did years
- 52:20ago and making it so tough jobs like building bridges and roads, people get
- 52:23paid less. There are people who are who are just who are fed up
- 52:27with the fact that we've got eight thousand children in foster care. In the
- 52:29Republican legislature and governor have not done anything to address it. So I would
- 52:34suggest to some of these folks who are fed up with these backwards Republican policies
- 52:38that are driving people out of this state in droves, put your name on
- 52:42the ballot, run for office. Let's do something about it. Let's fight
- 52:45back. How difficult is it, though, and and I'm not picking on
- 52:49the Democrats because this is where the Republican Party was, you know, for
- 52:52eighty years. But how difficult is it to get people to sign up right
- 52:58now to want to run cause they know that their chances aren't that great?
- 53:01Mike. And again, this is where the Republicans were years ago, twenty
- 53:05s It was much more difficult to recruit to run into in the minority party
- 53:09than it is in the majority party. But we're never gonna stop fighting because
- 53:12the people deserve choices, and what the people deserve a better government. The
- 53:16people deserve a government that works for them, and it's not working for them
- 53:20right now. Under Governor Justice, every single aspect of state government is failing.
- 53:23It's just not working right now. So I suggest it. If you're
- 53:27as mad as I am, join us fight back. We'll fight with you,
- 53:30all right. We gotta go foe. Cost of five of any live
