- 0:08Speaker 1: Seven. Obviously that's the number of netballers needed to take
- 0:11Speaker 1: the court five if it's social netball and no one
- 0:14Speaker 1: bothers to show up. But did you know we now
- 0:17Speaker 1: have that many retired mascots. We have enough retired mascots
- 0:22Speaker 1: to be able to make an entire netball team. And
- 0:25Speaker 1: I would like to know who would you put where
- 0:27Speaker 1: the sandpipe of the Jaeger, the Magpie, the Giant, the Phoenix,
- 0:30Speaker 1: the kestrels, the Oriel?
- 0:32Speaker 2: Who would go.
- 0:32Speaker 1: Where on this court? You're on No Dribble strap in Hello,
- 0:48Speaker 1: and welcome to No Dribble, the podcast where we talk
- 0:51Speaker 1: about netball, where we makeup statistics that otherwise have no
- 0:55Speaker 1: place in the world, and we talk about so much more.
- 0:58Speaker 1: I am the Chief maker Upper. I am the chief
- 1:03Speaker 1: mascot statistician for the country of Australia in twenty twenty six.
- 1:07Speaker 1: My name is Carol and Swindell.
- 1:08Speaker 3: I'm kath Cox.
- 1:10Speaker 2: What are you? Chief of Caathcomb?
- 1:12Speaker 3: Not a great deal.
- 1:13Speaker 2: I'm Liz Ellis and I'm chief of not much either.
- 1:21Speaker 1: Well, looks like I'm in charge you netball mascot statistician.
- 1:26Speaker 1: Maybe Darryl is actually Darryl Milton but anyway, Hi, welcome back.
- 1:30Speaker 1: It's Friday morning. We know nothing more than we did
- 1:33Speaker 1: when we recorded the Wednesday episode because we record everything
- 1:37Speaker 1: on a Monday. But we've still got exciting stuff to
- 1:39Speaker 1: talk about.
- 1:40Speaker 4: I think we should just go out and a lim
- 1:42Speaker 4: and say, oh my god, how amazing.
- 1:44Speaker 1: Did you see? You know what? We should go? Oh,
- 1:49Speaker 1: Gretel Buener coming back in every team?
- 1:53Speaker 3: Unbelievable?
- 1:54Speaker 2: So can I say? Though?
- 1:55Speaker 5: I think and I know, we're going to talk a
- 1:57Speaker 5: bit about you know, Catherine's club moves later in the episode.
- 2:00Speaker 5: But the thing that I found most fascinating about all
- 2:04Speaker 5: of this was that every rumor I heard, I either
- 2:08Speaker 5: heard an opposite rumor or has turned out to not
- 2:11Speaker 5: be quite right.
- 2:12Speaker 3: So the truth get in the way of a good story.
- 2:17Speaker 5: No, And I wonder if, because netball circles are sort
- 2:20Speaker 5: of over quite a bit, someone starts a rumor and
- 2:24Speaker 5: then so you hear it from one person, and then
- 2:26Speaker 5: it goes around and around to hear.
- 2:27Speaker 2: It from someone else. You know, I've heard it from
- 2:29Speaker 2: two sorts. That must.
- 2:31Speaker 5: It's the same rumor doing so, the only rumor I
- 2:34Speaker 5: did hear that was true was Gracenwenky leaving the sweets.
- 2:37Speaker 5: Everything else has been debunked, and I think the best
- 2:42Speaker 5: the people who really come into their own obviously this
- 2:44Speaker 5: time of the year with the social media teams, and
- 2:47Speaker 5: the best one that I saw was a meme where
- 2:52Speaker 5: there was a guy sitting in an office chair swinging
- 2:54Speaker 5: around around not looking at a woman who was running
- 2:56Speaker 5: around parks in recreation and the woman running aroun was
- 3:00Speaker 5: the rumor that Helen Hows is heading back to the UK,
- 3:03Speaker 5: and the guy sitting in the middle of not looking
- 3:04Speaker 5: was the.
- 3:04Speaker 4: Swifts Hagard was the Firebirds that happened Monday morning with
- 3:09Speaker 4: the scrabble pieces. So there's some lots of thought going
- 3:13Speaker 4: into the I love it now it's the bloody team.
- 3:17Speaker 2: No, but that's not fun. This is what the MAVs
- 3:20Speaker 2: have been too.
- 3:21Speaker 1: Sad of our misery, and the MAVs social media team
- 3:26Speaker 1: has has I think, lifted the quality of social media
- 3:29Speaker 1: in our game, which is a really important sort of
- 3:32Speaker 1: growth motor for us. We really and I think that
- 3:35Speaker 1: all of the social media teams are doing a great
- 3:38Speaker 1: I remember this time last year there was some little
- 3:40Speaker 1: hints put out there about who was coming where they
- 3:43Speaker 1: are like it was it was a lot of fun.
- 3:44Speaker 1: This is more fun, but we've been starved of it.
- 3:47Speaker 1: But I'm actually it's one of the things I'm really
- 3:49Speaker 1: excited about with sen taking over the Giants franchise, is
- 3:54Speaker 1: that what they what the MAVs have brought because they
- 3:58Speaker 1: have to be disruptors because they don't have a long
- 4:01Speaker 1: legacy to draw upon. So what they have done and
- 4:04Speaker 1: particularly given it was sort of like Collingwood's out, what
- 4:06Speaker 1: are we doing? They were coming from a standing start
- 4:10Speaker 1: and they have done a sensational job, and I think
- 4:13Speaker 1: that's improved. You know, it's given us all a little
- 4:16Speaker 1: bit more of an appetite for that and all of
- 4:19Speaker 1: that stuff is what builds the ecosystem around the game.
- 4:24Speaker 2: Wait, I know, it's so good. It's so much fun,
- 4:27Speaker 2: isn't it.
- 4:27Speaker 3: Yeah, it's the best.
- 4:29Speaker 1: Do you have anything to distract us with while we're waiting?
- 4:32Speaker 4: I did see this funny question the other day somewhere
- 4:34Speaker 4: and it got me thinking about mine, which is so embarrassing.
- 4:38Speaker 3: But I'm going to put it to you too.
- 4:40Speaker 4: First, the most embarrassing phase.
- 4:45Speaker 3: You went through, Come on, give it to me.
- 4:49Speaker 1: I feel like this is a very cruel question to
- 4:52Speaker 1: ask someone with pale skin who grew up in Queensland?
- 4:55Speaker 3: Did you have a goth moment? Yes?
- 4:57Speaker 1: I did? You Actually I did. I did get out.
- 5:04Speaker 1: It was more sort of, you know, because it wasn't
- 5:07Speaker 1: as easy to find the information then about what you
- 5:10Speaker 1: had to do for what, so it was sort of
- 5:12Speaker 1: it was just this quite alternative phase kind of maybe
- 5:15Speaker 1: you'd call it a bit emo, bit goth, but yeah,
- 5:19Speaker 1: And I'm grateful that I did this in a time
- 5:22Speaker 1: than when a number of my friends were going, let's
- 5:25Speaker 1: get out there and slather our bodies with baby oil
- 5:28Speaker 1: and tan up, because it is I do have some
- 5:32Speaker 1: benefits of the legacy of the goth emo alternate era.
- 5:37Speaker 1: But I didn't think we'd have to talk about it casual.
- 5:41Speaker 2: I love this.
- 5:41Speaker 4: I need details though. Was it like, did you do
- 5:44Speaker 4: dark hair? Did you do the moody eye?
- 5:46Speaker 1: Yeah, the kings? Yeah. Not a lot of piercings a lot.
- 5:50Speaker 1: I've always been No. Well, I got my ears pierced
- 5:53Speaker 1: when I was like seven or eight, and then I
- 5:55Speaker 1: got a second piercing done in my ear lobe like
- 5:59Speaker 1: in each year, like two years ago. And that's because
- 6:02Speaker 1: how white woman is this? For my fiftieth birthday, Pete
- 6:05Speaker 1: brought me some diamond ear rings and I thought, I'm
- 6:07Speaker 1: just not wearing my diamond studs often enough. So I
- 6:09Speaker 1: got a second piercing, so not quite not quite a
- 6:14Speaker 1: goth piercing. And also I went to a high school
- 6:16Speaker 1: where you weren't allowed to you know, it was like
- 6:18Speaker 1: you wear one set of earrings, only there's no makeup
- 6:21Speaker 1: or the like. So it was kind of a as
- 6:24Speaker 1: every phase has been in my life. It was half fast.
- 6:27Speaker 1: So I finished university and I thought it'd be cool
- 6:30Speaker 1: to be a vegetarian, so I went into that.
- 6:32Speaker 3: Did that last?
- 6:33Speaker 1: Yeah, Well, I did no research whatsoever on it, because
- 6:37Speaker 1: there's certain things that it's like if you have a
- 6:40Speaker 1: spinach and cheese type thing, something bonds with the eye
- 6:43Speaker 1: and so you don't get as much iron out of that.
- 6:45Speaker 1: You need to know what you're doing. If you're going
- 6:48Speaker 1: to become a vegetarian or a vegan, how you need
- 6:50Speaker 1: to understand nutrition. I did nothing. Went to the doctor.
- 6:54Speaker 1: I'm like, oh, I'm dying. I've got no energy. It
- 6:56Speaker 1: look like in yes, And the doctor said to me,
- 7:01Speaker 1: you either need to research this stuff or start really
- 7:06Speaker 1: eating meat. And it's like, well, I just can't get
- 7:08Speaker 1: a kebab then, And that was my one and only
- 7:10Speaker 1: brush with vegetarianism. And I am half asked, as we
- 7:14Speaker 1: all know. So that was me. I reckon, it's only fair,
- 7:19Speaker 1: and you can't if you too, say oh I had
- 7:24Speaker 1: a phase where I wasn't as good at netball, or
- 7:27Speaker 1: I had a phase where I thought, oh gosh, I
- 7:30Speaker 1: wish I wasn't so tall and pretty. That does not count.
- 7:33Speaker 1: I have bared my soul. You need to bring something
- 7:36Speaker 1: good to this discussion, and I will tell you if
- 7:39Speaker 1: it is good enough.
- 7:40Speaker 2: Well, I don't know about good, but I have two things.
- 7:42Speaker 5: The first embarrassing phase for me was the eighties, because
- 7:47Speaker 5: I embraced the eighties full throatedly with embraces.
- 7:53Speaker 4: And a perm Did you have the little dimontes on
- 7:57Speaker 4: your tea, like the colored ones?
- 7:58Speaker 2: I'm too long for that. They didn't, right.
- 8:00Speaker 6: So you do the colored bands that did not exist.
- 8:04Speaker 5: You had full metal like I was a little bit
- 8:07Speaker 5: later than in the old and olden days.
- 8:09Speaker 2: You used to have to wear like brackets around the
- 8:11Speaker 2: back of your head. I didn't have to do that, but.
- 8:14Speaker 5: I did have braces in the eighties, and I did
- 8:16Speaker 5: team that in sort of the mid to late eighties.
- 8:20Speaker 2: With a perm.
- 8:21Speaker 5: And so now when I look back at like photos
- 8:24Speaker 5: of me in sort of years eight, nine and ten,
- 8:27Speaker 5: it is not that great.
- 8:28Speaker 2: It is frizzy hair, big the big fringe and the
- 8:35Speaker 2: braces and so you used to.
- 8:37Speaker 1: Do this with your fringe in the eighties, Yeah, that.
- 8:40Speaker 5: And you put it out and put it in the
- 8:41Speaker 5: hairsprayer and then and then like do you remember, like
- 8:45Speaker 5: it would be like a big wave. Yeah, And so
- 8:49Speaker 5: funnily enough, like the school that I went. I went
- 8:51Speaker 5: to school in the western summerb of Sydney and a
- 8:53Speaker 5: lot of the kids on a Friday night that would
- 8:56Speaker 5: go to Marconi Club under eighteens night and I always
- 9:00Speaker 5: desperate to go, but Mum wouldn't take me because I
- 9:02Speaker 5: had netball the next day.
- 9:03Speaker 2: I'm so pleased.
- 9:04Speaker 1: Because you had a perm and she went, you don't
- 9:06Speaker 1: want to go out of the house looking like that.
- 9:07Speaker 5: Well, but if I look the same, right, So I'm
- 9:09Speaker 5: laugh now, like you know all you know girls in
- 9:13Speaker 5: eight I've got a girl in year nine and I'm.
- 9:15Speaker 2: Like, you're all the same, like with your parted hair
- 9:17Speaker 2: in the middle.
- 9:18Speaker 4: And there's going to be no awkwardness. When they look back,
- 9:22Speaker 4: they're also so done.
- 9:25Speaker 1: And beautiful every age group, though at some stage something
- 9:30Speaker 1: they will go, oh, that was a regrettable fashion. But
- 9:33Speaker 1: what there might be one in the last set apart
- 9:37Speaker 1: and everybody looking like exactly the same person. How you
- 9:41Speaker 1: do commentary? It's so bloody hard to tell who's who
- 9:44Speaker 1: when they've all got the same hairstyle. But there's no
- 9:47Speaker 1: bad photos of this young generation, and I think that's sad.
- 9:50Speaker 1: They just delete it if it's a bad photo. But
- 9:53Speaker 1: the greatest memories come from the worst photos.
- 9:58Speaker 5: And the photos are a bit blurry and not everyone's
- 10:00Speaker 5: in it, and you've got to sort of like your
- 10:03Speaker 5: imagination goes, oh, that's right, that's that's this is how
- 10:05Speaker 5: I remember.
- 10:06Speaker 2: That, and this is how I remember that.
- 10:07Speaker 1: But actually, sidebar, I heard something quite disturbing the other
- 10:10Speaker 1: day that the algorithm that social media is set up
- 10:14Speaker 1: if a if a young woman deletes a selfie, that
- 10:19Speaker 1: at that stage there is some advertising triggered about things
- 10:23Speaker 1: about makeup, about skin care, about Yeah, like that's evil,
- 10:28Speaker 1: isn't it. Like that's okay, someone's someone is vulnerable at
- 10:32Speaker 1: the moment, let's trigger this. Now I'm going to have
- 10:34Speaker 1: to look up where I heard that from, because we
- 10:37Speaker 1: try to be responsible with the information. But I heard
- 10:39Speaker 1: that no doubt about the veracity of it, because it's
- 10:43Speaker 1: so likely to be true, right, it's not disgraceful.
- 10:46Speaker 3: But whilst before I get to mind, I have to
- 10:49Speaker 3: pick my no.
- 10:50Speaker 6: I love it. I love it. From this angle, you
- 10:52Speaker 6: can't really see it looking straight. That's that's what it
- 10:56Speaker 6: was like when you look at So have you seen
- 11:00Speaker 6: romy and Michelle? Of course, so you know it's actually little.
- 11:03Speaker 1: That's my actual culture is Rummy and Michelle.
- 11:07Speaker 4: So you know the short, dark haired lady Heather Moody,
- 11:10Speaker 4: you are her. She is animal And I think that's
- 11:14Speaker 4: what when I said the gothing, I was looking at
- 11:16Speaker 4: you thinking that's what you would look like.
- 11:18Speaker 6: Oh my god.
- 11:19Speaker 2: So you need.
- 11:19Speaker 5: To to you need to campaign to get Romey and
- 11:22Speaker 5: Michelle included as like religion in the census for the
- 11:27Speaker 5: can do it so the perm But I do look
- 11:29Speaker 5: back at photos and I go like, I can't laugh
- 11:32Speaker 5: at sixteen year old now sixteen year olds out all
- 11:34Speaker 5: who have the same hair, because I'm like, we all
- 11:36Speaker 5: had the same hair, but.
- 11:37Speaker 1: It was year did you have your perm? I was
- 11:39Speaker 1: eighty eight.
- 11:40Speaker 5: I was going to say, I reckon eighty seven, eighty eight,
- 11:42Speaker 5: so in eighty seven, Well, I'm not going to lie.
- 11:46Speaker 2: I had it through to the early nineties. So I reconiz.
- 11:51Speaker 1: That's the only useful thing that you've brought to this
- 11:53Speaker 1: conversation is actually admitting that everything else. Of course, you
- 11:57Speaker 1: had a perm. We all had perms, you know.
- 11:59Speaker 4: Actually was the boys had the perms and the long
- 12:01Speaker 4: hair as well, so it looked like there were two
- 12:03Speaker 4: girls macking on every time you saw the guys and
- 12:06Speaker 4: the girls out, you know, like when you see the
- 12:08Speaker 4: eighties rockers, the guys they look like the girls exactly
- 12:13Speaker 4: the same.
- 12:14Speaker 1: The long haired.
- 12:16Speaker 2: Yes, so good. I love a big hair band. But
- 12:19Speaker 2: when the meat tray met me, I was in.
- 12:23Speaker 5: Brace's v Two two point zero because my teeth had
- 12:26Speaker 5: moved and I was at the end of a perm.
- 12:29Speaker 5: And he often says he was playing the long game
- 12:31Speaker 5: when he met me.
- 12:36Speaker 4: Do you know what now, I reckon, it's a short
- 12:38Speaker 4: game if you reverse it.
- 12:40Speaker 3: Like if you meet a beautiful.
- 12:42Speaker 4: Girl these days, by the time she goes home, takes
- 12:46Speaker 4: off the fake lashes and the sucking underwear and the
- 12:50Speaker 4: everything is fake and the fake tan, And it's completely different,
- 12:54Speaker 4: isn't it. Back then you're working on fixing the long
- 12:57Speaker 4: term stuff.
- 12:58Speaker 3: Now it's just like blasted.
- 13:00Speaker 5: Oh now you can just fix up your photo with AI.
- 13:03Speaker 5: You never have to leave the house because you're so hot.
- 13:05Speaker 1: I was listening to something on the radio this morning,
- 13:07Speaker 1: and apparently people are whitening their teeth in their images
- 13:11Speaker 1: that are going on to social media, which now means
- 13:13Speaker 1: people are going to the dentist. So this woman who
- 13:15Speaker 1: I was speaking to was like who I was speaking
- 13:17Speaker 1: to who I was listening to on the radio. She
- 13:20Speaker 1: is from like the dental association. She's saying she's getting
- 13:23Speaker 1: people coming in and going, I want my teeth to
- 13:25Speaker 1: look like that, and she said, their teeth don't look
- 13:27Speaker 1: like that.
- 13:28Speaker 5: So, you know, if you go back and watch eighties movies.
- 13:30Speaker 5: So I remember I said to you guys a few
- 13:32Speaker 5: weeks ago that I went back and watched ET. The
- 13:34Speaker 5: thing that stands out when you watch eighties movies is
- 13:36Speaker 5: people have normal teeth. Yeah, you go back and watch
- 13:39Speaker 5: the eighties movies like.
- 13:40Speaker 2: Oh not everyone has these white not perfectly. Yeah. So
- 13:45Speaker 2: let me full disclosure.
- 13:47Speaker 5: I did buy a whitening kit for five hundred bucks
- 13:49Speaker 5: from my dentist about three years ago.
- 13:51Speaker 2: And it's still sitting in my room. And you know why,
- 13:55Speaker 2: I don't what it is?
- 13:55Speaker 5: It because you can't drink tea and I love drinking
- 13:57Speaker 5: cup of tea in the morning.
- 13:58Speaker 2: And I'm like, bugger that I'm not going to whiten.
- 14:00Speaker 2: My teeth are not worth it.
- 14:02Speaker 4: I did white mine once at the dentist and they said,
- 14:05Speaker 4: just for the next two or three days, use a
- 14:07Speaker 4: straw for your coffee and your tea and your red.
- 14:09Speaker 3: One and stuff.
- 14:11Speaker 7: Oh, and I did, and then that ship has sailed. Now, yeah,
- 14:14Speaker 7: that's not worth it. Can I tell you my other
- 14:16Speaker 7: embarrassing phase just quickly, which was better than the PERM
- 14:20Speaker 7: because it's different. Right until PERM in the nineties, that
- 14:23Speaker 7: was lame shut up.
- 14:26Speaker 5: So in the early two thousands, I went with my
- 14:29Speaker 5: friend Catherine and got a tattoo. And so I have
- 14:32Speaker 5: a tattoo on my back of a gecko, which I love,
- 14:37Speaker 5: but I forget it's there. And then I was lying
- 14:40Speaker 5: in bed the other morning and our son often gets
- 14:43Speaker 5: into bed and has a snuggle with us.
- 14:45Speaker 2: And he.
- 14:47Speaker 5: Pulled up my shirt and he was looking at it,
- 14:49Speaker 5: and he's like, Mum, this doesn't look good. I said, no, no,
- 14:51Speaker 5: you're just saying that, and then the meat trailinged over
- 14:53Speaker 5: and he was like, do you know what?
- 14:54Speaker 2: That has not aged well? So well?
- 14:58Speaker 1: It is a red tile? For god?
- 15:00Speaker 6: Is the get a little larger.
- 15:02Speaker 4: It's probably a little bit smaller, a little stretched in places.
- 15:06Speaker 2: But not uniform.
- 15:09Speaker 1: Cheeky bastards and do.
- 15:10Speaker 5: You know what it's not? The edges aren't particularly defined anymore.
- 15:15Speaker 5: It's got blurry.
- 15:17Speaker 3: They do, don't they? They look bad?
- 15:19Speaker 4: Okay, So before I get onto mine, the dribblers need
- 15:22Speaker 4: to get on Facebook with any bad photos of themselves
- 15:26Speaker 4: from the eighties, and they're happy to share. We will
- 15:28Speaker 4: do the same if we can find will we will.
- 15:32Speaker 1: Liz, I'll just share yours.
- 15:33Speaker 3: Yeah, we've got.
- 15:35Speaker 1: When we moved over to our new Instagram account, the
- 15:37Speaker 1: first photo I put up there was just a view
- 15:40Speaker 1: with your perm in your swishy tracksuit home. Yeah, but look,
- 15:44Speaker 1: there's nothing to be ashamed of. Let's embrace it, dribblers,
- 15:46Speaker 1: let's find let's let's find a photo of our worst.
- 15:52Speaker 1: I will say I don't have a tattoo because I
- 15:54Speaker 1: got a perm in nineteen eighty eight. I cannot trust
- 15:57Speaker 1: myself to make a decision that I'm happy to live
- 15:59Speaker 1: with long term on anything to do.
- 16:02Speaker 3: That's not how tattoos were. You're never happy with them
- 16:04Speaker 3: long term. That's why removal companies are making the mint.
- 16:08Speaker 1: So what was yours?
- 16:09Speaker 2: So?
- 16:10Speaker 4: I lived in Castle Hill, which is like northwest Snow
- 16:14Speaker 4: were near the beach. I went through a surf for
- 16:17Speaker 4: girl face where I had to buy only surf gear.
- 16:22Speaker 4: I had surf stickers to put everywhere. I would buy
- 16:26Speaker 4: the magazines and I'd cut the pictures out and put
- 16:29Speaker 4: them all over things.
- 16:30Speaker 3: I did.
- 16:31Speaker 6: The works never had, having never surfed in my life.
- 16:36Speaker 4: And I look back at that now and I'm actually horrified.
- 16:39Speaker 4: I tried to bleach my hair with ajax?
- 16:41Speaker 2: What? Yeah? What were Firstly?
- 16:46Speaker 4: You know, remember that sun in stuff that was meant
- 16:48Speaker 4: to help your hair. You put it on, then you
- 16:50Speaker 4: went the sun and it went orange.
- 16:52Speaker 3: But I was like, it's just chemicals and stuff.
- 16:54Speaker 4: So I put some ajax in my hair and thought
- 16:56Speaker 4: that might bleach the color and I could be a
- 16:58Speaker 4: bit blonder and be a bit more of a surfy girl.
- 17:01Speaker 1: You're You're lucky you're not bald. Oh my god, the
- 17:05Speaker 1: works anyway, I don't put ax in your hair ever, anyone. Please?
- 17:10Speaker 1: Do they still sell ajax? Is that a thing?
- 17:13Speaker 2: Of course? They did?
- 17:14Speaker 6: Had wore the Oakley's Did that my own?
- 17:16Speaker 1: Did you have phones? Surfer Joe thongs? You know the
- 17:20Speaker 1: ones that sort of the base of them, So so
- 17:23Speaker 1: there's the soul, but actually it's sort of spread out
- 17:26Speaker 1: at the base underneath it. It was like a pyramid
- 17:28Speaker 1: effect from the soul.
- 17:30Speaker 3: To Oh no, I didn't.
- 17:31Speaker 1: They were terrible, Like if you you had those, like,
- 17:35Speaker 1: that's that's fully committed.
- 17:37Speaker 3: I'll see if I find a photo. But anyway, like
- 17:39Speaker 3: literally everything was covered in surfing pictures, magazines, stickers, clothes,
- 17:45Speaker 3: you name it. A girl from the West.
- 17:47Speaker 1: What did this come from? Who did you fall in
- 17:49Speaker 1: love with?
- 17:50Speaker 6: I don't, I don't.
- 17:51Speaker 4: I think it was just obsessed with probably Tom Carroll
- 17:54Speaker 4: or yeah another Tom was yeah, yeah, okay, all of.
- 18:00Speaker 5: Them, yeah, all of whom would have fit underneath your elbow.
- 18:03Speaker 4: Correct, And I have since met them and they do
- 18:05Speaker 4: fit under my elbow.
- 18:08Speaker 3: Anyway, there you go.
- 18:09Speaker 1: Next time, I want you to come clean and say
- 18:12Speaker 1: I risked my head of hair for you.
- 18:15Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 18:16Speaker 1: Yeah, that's so great, that's so great. Imagine if you
- 18:22Speaker 1: and I had been friends then with our height difference
- 18:25Speaker 1: and me.
- 18:25Speaker 4: And please blonde the ajax surfy.
- 18:30Speaker 1: Do you remember it's just about what we're like on
- 18:32Speaker 1: the inside people. Oh well, much as I'd love to
- 18:36Speaker 1: hang around here all day talking about this, we need
- 18:38Speaker 1: to have a little break and then come back and
- 18:39Speaker 1: talk about some knitball. Okay. If you're wondering why I
- 18:47Speaker 1: say netball like that, it's because I was born in
- 18:49Speaker 1: New Zealand obviously, and I'm allowed to and our third
- 18:55Speaker 1: biggest market for no dripple after the UK. Come on,
- 18:57Speaker 1: New Zealand, do better than that. We're going to We're
- 19:00Speaker 1: going to be watching with interest what goes on there.
- 19:02Speaker 1: That's actually really interesting. So Ali Williams, former All Black,
- 19:06Speaker 1: and his wife whose name I've forgotten, who is a
- 19:09Speaker 1: very successful businesswoman. They are the ones behind the potential
- 19:13Speaker 1: private ownership of the New Zealand League and they're looking
- 19:15Speaker 1: at doing some type of bridging camp for twenty twenty seven.
- 19:20Speaker 1: But there's some talk by ex silver Ferns coaches that
- 19:24Speaker 1: Australia is going to be stealing the players in the meantime,
- 19:27Speaker 1: so there ain't no stealing going on there's just jobs
- 19:31Speaker 1: on off of for good players. But I really hope
- 19:34Speaker 1: that New Zealand comp gets up. I'm thrilled to see
- 19:37Speaker 1: that people are getting people, particularly private sector people are going, actually,
- 19:41Speaker 1: this is something that we can build and make some
- 19:43Speaker 1: money on.
- 19:45Speaker 2: Yeah. Absolutely.
- 19:46Speaker 5: And you know we've been talking about the census, so
- 19:49Speaker 5: it's just hit me that sixty six percent of no
- 19:51Speaker 5: joble hosts were born in New Zealand.
- 19:53Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:53Speaker 4: Oh, now that's a start you need to be worried about.
- 19:57Speaker 4: I am concerned how many of them still having a
- 19:59Speaker 4: New zeal On passport though, Well I do.
- 20:04Speaker 3: Yeah, we're thirty three percent. Because I wouldn't be caught dead.
- 20:09Speaker 1: Do you know why I got it. I got it
- 20:11Speaker 1: in before COVID. Remember those horrendous bush fires that were
- 20:15Speaker 1: on here and the whole bloody country was on fire,
- 20:18Speaker 1: and I realized I hadn't done my kid's citizenship by descent.
- 20:21Speaker 1: And I thought, one day, when we've run out of
- 20:23Speaker 1: water and the world is just this hellscape of fire
- 20:28Speaker 1: and climate change has done it, so the children might
- 20:31Speaker 1: want to go and live in New Zealand. So I
- 20:33Speaker 1: got there. I had to get my passport renewed in
- 20:37Speaker 1: order to then activate the acknowledgment of their citizenship by descent,
- 20:41Speaker 1: which they'll have to give up if they ever want
- 20:43Speaker 1: to stand for parliament.
- 20:44Speaker 4: But it's still a little dramatic reason to do it.
- 20:47Speaker 4: The sure No, I did mine because I was teased
- 20:51Speaker 4: by my New South Wales netball team at the time relentlessly,
- 20:55Speaker 4: so it was time.
- 20:56Speaker 2: To I do feel a bit bad about that. Catherine.
- 20:58Speaker 2: Now you probably should have kept in New Zealand.
- 21:01Speaker 3: It's fine, and I want my Aussie one. I proudly
- 21:03Speaker 3: display it.
- 21:05Speaker 1: Anna Mowbray is the very successful business woman, an entrepreneur
- 21:10Speaker 1: in New Zealand whose name I should have been able
- 21:12Speaker 1: to call to mind quickly, who is potentially behind this
- 21:15Speaker 1: next comp in New Zealand. So Anna and Ali were
- 21:20Speaker 1: really hoping you can get this up. That'll be exciting,
- 21:22Speaker 1: all right you.
- 21:26Speaker 2: I've got some questions for Catherine.
- 21:28Speaker 1: Yeah, let's get to it. Let's let's put the surf
- 21:31Speaker 1: arounder some heat, let's put the it's going to be.
- 21:35Speaker 6: Gnarly, yeah, yeah, it's going to be.
- 21:41Speaker 1: Might be in the green room soon shooting barrels. What
- 21:45Speaker 1: is it? What are you doing?
- 21:46Speaker 6: Barrels?
- 21:47Speaker 1: Yeah, ride barrels.
- 21:49Speaker 2: Barrels.
- 21:50Speaker 5: I think Catherine's more the Puberty Blues type, where you know.
- 21:54Speaker 2: Get me a chick roll your mother.
- 21:58Speaker 3: How good was that show?
- 21:59Speaker 1: This was wat I was going to do a no
- 22:03Speaker 1: drible recommends for Long Bright River, which is a great show.
- 22:06Speaker 1: There's a woman in that, Ashley Cummings, who's an Australian
- 22:09Speaker 1: who was in the reboot of Puberty Blues, who used
- 22:13Speaker 1: to be our babysitter. Oh not for me, obviously for
- 22:17Speaker 1: the kids.
- 22:18Speaker 2: Wow.
- 22:19Speaker 1: Actually comings before she got famous. We were pointing it
- 22:21Speaker 1: out to him the other day.
- 22:23Speaker 3: He didn't.
- 22:23Speaker 1: He didn't warm to her. She tried so hard. I
- 22:25Speaker 1: think she tried too hard. You know sometimes kids go
- 22:28Speaker 1: You're tried too hard. I don't like it. He was
- 22:29Speaker 1: about three and this poor young woman like she sat
- 22:33Speaker 1: in his room in silence with him while he slept,
- 22:36Speaker 1: and he just gave her nothing. Anyway, Puberty Blues. You,
- 22:41Speaker 1: Catherine love Puberty Blues. So Catherine, we're talking. We've been
- 22:45Speaker 1: talking this week.
- 22:45Speaker 5: A lot about the signings period and players changing, and
- 22:49Speaker 5: we sort of because we're recording this on Monday, we
- 22:52Speaker 5: have no idea about what's going on. I mean, there's
- 22:54Speaker 5: some things happening with her rumors, But we'll do a
- 22:57Speaker 5: full recap and sort of analysis next week.
- 23:00Speaker 2: I mean, who'll my kidding?
- 23:01Speaker 1: Catherine is not coming back to play for the new Giant.
- 23:04Speaker 6: Oh the cats out of the bag.
- 23:08Speaker 1: But she is not changing clubs again.
- 23:10Speaker 3: Though.
- 23:10Speaker 5: You have changed clubs a few times through your career,
- 23:14Speaker 5: and we talked about the stats from Darryl at about
- 23:16Speaker 5: twenty percent of Super NETBWLE players each year sort of
- 23:19Speaker 5: change in and out when you changed clubs, Like, what
- 23:24Speaker 5: are the things.
- 23:25Speaker 2: That made you choose a particular club.
- 23:27Speaker 5: Because it wasn't one million dollars that made you made
- 23:31Speaker 5: you change each time?
- 23:32Speaker 2: What was it?
- 23:33Speaker 4: No, Well, firstly, let the record show I did not
- 23:36Speaker 4: want to change clubs.
- 23:37Speaker 2: Ever.
- 23:37Speaker 4: I did want to stay at the same one and
- 23:39Speaker 4: be a one club player, but that wasn't on the cards.
- 23:43Speaker 4: So when the Swifts let me go that that was
- 23:46Speaker 4: the biggest heartbreak for me because I envisaged being there
- 23:51Speaker 4: for my whole career and at that point, given how
- 23:56Speaker 4: hurt I felt by that, I went, do you know what?
- 23:59Speaker 4: I can fully appreciate what a ruthless business this is.
- 24:03Speaker 4: Now my next decision won't be based on love like
- 24:09Speaker 4: it has been for fifteen years or lorty. I am given,
- 24:14Speaker 4: I'm now an older athlete, going to take the best money.
- 24:17Speaker 4: That's actually what it came down to.
- 24:20Speaker 1: How old were you?
- 24:21Speaker 4: I would have been thirty six.
- 24:25Speaker 1: Got you're amazing, but that wasn't even the end. You
- 24:27Speaker 1: still had years.
- 24:28Speaker 2: No, No, you were young. You were younger than that.
- 24:30Speaker 2: When the Swifts let you go, we' you No.
- 24:33Speaker 4: Well I can't have been because I retired at thirty. Well,
- 24:35Speaker 4: I must have been thirty five. It wouldn't have been
- 24:38Speaker 4: any younger because I only had three more years to play,
- 24:40Speaker 4: only played three more years, retired.
- 24:42Speaker 3: At thirty eight thirty nine.
- 24:44Speaker 4: So that was the decision I made at that point
- 24:46Speaker 4: to go to West Coast. There were other clubs that
- 24:48Speaker 4: I was chatting with and they weren't offering as much,
- 24:52Speaker 4: and they were much better clubs and clubs that I
- 24:55Speaker 4: would have probably won a premiership with or played finals
- 24:59Speaker 4: with at least. But I thought, do you know what
- 25:01Speaker 4: I just I have been shown the exit in the
- 25:06Speaker 4: harshest of fashions. This is not what I thought it was.
- 25:09Speaker 4: And I'm going to treat every decision from here on
- 25:11Speaker 4: in as the end of my career and making the
- 25:14Speaker 4: most of it financially.
- 25:16Speaker 1: So how long did that emotional process take A lot.
- 25:19Speaker 6: It was a long time just to even calm down
- 25:21Speaker 6: to get to that way.
- 25:21Speaker 2: I bet it was.
- 25:23Speaker 4: But it also has to happen very quickly, Like you
- 25:25Speaker 4: look at these windows now, players are finding out they're
- 25:27Speaker 4: not wanted and they've got to quickly turn it around.
- 25:30Speaker 4: So you've got to get on with the job. But
- 25:31Speaker 4: so I moved to the West Coast for the money
- 25:35Speaker 4: and after two really tough years, that's when I went.
- 25:38Speaker 4: You know what, it's not all about the money, and
- 25:41Speaker 4: it can't be all about the money because it wasn't
- 25:43Speaker 4: enjoyable so the finals.
- 25:44Speaker 1: So when you say tough years, tough because you were
- 25:46Speaker 1: away from your social support base, not at all.
- 25:49Speaker 4: I mean my social support phases always been netball, because
- 25:53Speaker 4: that's that's your family at any given time. My family
- 25:57Speaker 4: was all living in Queensland, so they went in Sydney anyway.
- 26:00Speaker 4: But it was just tough because it was a younger team,
- 26:02Speaker 4: we weren't winning. It was a coach I wasn't necessarily
- 26:04Speaker 4: getting along.
- 26:05Speaker 3: With at the time.
- 26:07Speaker 4: Loved the location, but lots traveling across the country and
- 26:13Speaker 4: so after those two years, I just went, yeah, you've
- 26:16Speaker 4: got now, you've got to be sensible, because you might
- 26:19Speaker 4: just have one or two more years left in you
- 26:21Speaker 4: to go somewhere where you're going to really enjoy it too,
- 26:24Speaker 4: Like you're going to enjoy being back in a good
- 26:26Speaker 4: professional side, a coach that you get on with, one
- 26:31Speaker 4: that you you know, I used to play with, as
- 26:33Speaker 4: it turned out when I went to the Vixen's with
- 26:35Speaker 4: Samoe mckinneses, with a more mature team, So all of
- 26:40Speaker 4: those things were then taken into the account. A place
- 26:42Speaker 4: that you might want to live for a year was Melbourne.
- 26:45Speaker 4: So I completely turned my thinking on its head in
- 26:48Speaker 4: between my two moves, and for very different reasons. But
- 26:51Speaker 4: I think you also got to live it and learn
- 26:53Speaker 4: it along the way as well, and that will happen
- 26:56Speaker 4: with a lot of these players that might be uprooting
- 26:58Speaker 4: their lives, moving for court time or whatever it is
- 27:01Speaker 4: they think they're getting, But then they might get there
- 27:04Speaker 4: and realize they actually need their support systems, their families
- 27:07Speaker 4: and they might end up moving back. So it's one
- 27:09Speaker 4: of those things you just got to dip your toe into.
- 27:11Speaker 5: Supporters and one of the things that used to come
- 27:14Speaker 5: up a lot back when we played for the Swifts
- 27:17Speaker 5: and we go through the recruiting phase and back then
- 27:20Speaker 5: none of us signed contracts. You disagree with the coach
- 27:23Speaker 5: that you'd turn up right because and then by the
- 27:25Speaker 5: end we were signing contracts, but you don't ever sign
- 27:27Speaker 5: for a year. And there was none of the scrutiny
- 27:30Speaker 5: or the public stuff. Now, I mean there was no
- 27:32Speaker 5: social media, right, so of course there was not a scrutiny.
- 27:35Speaker 5: But you know, players would come to Julie and say,
- 27:37Speaker 5: I've been offered a position here because they want me,
- 27:41Speaker 5: and they've guaranteed me court time. And at the first
- 27:44Speaker 5: few times that we sort of heard that were like,
- 27:46Speaker 5: oh my god, we can't guarantee people court time. And
- 27:50Speaker 5: then the players would go and they wouldn't get court time,
- 27:54Speaker 5: and you realize that that is such a furfy and
- 27:57Speaker 5: you know, players will like get told things and be sold,
- 28:02Speaker 5: you know, the dream, but so often it just doesn't
- 28:04Speaker 5: happen that way. So, you know, I think treating it
- 28:07Speaker 5: like a business is a good idea. Looking for the
- 28:10Speaker 5: clubs that were looking for you're going to get paid
- 28:12Speaker 5: the best, but also a coach that you respect, And
- 28:15Speaker 5: I think a coach that says I'm guaranteeing you court
- 28:19Speaker 5: time like that should be like a massive red flag.
- 28:23Speaker 4: It's probably easier to say now though, isn't it, given
- 28:25Speaker 4: rolling subs?
- 28:26Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, and it might not be such a
- 28:28Speaker 5: thing anymore. Yeah, And back then we had twelve players.
- 28:31Speaker 5: Right now they've aouting on ten, so you are probably
- 28:32Speaker 5: going to end up getting caught time. But yeah, and
- 28:36Speaker 5: clubs with a good culture I think is sort of
- 28:39Speaker 5: where you want to be looking at as well, with
- 28:41Speaker 5: a culture that looks after the pay.
- 28:42Speaker 1: If you're not in that club, how do you determine
- 28:45Speaker 1: the culture? What are the things that you're looking at? So, say, Liz,
- 28:48Speaker 1: for you, you're in you're in Sydney, how do you
- 28:52Speaker 1: what kind of visibility do you have of a club
- 28:55Speaker 1: in Perth and what their culture really is? How do
- 28:58Speaker 1: you investigate that? Well, maybe, Cat, that's probably a better
- 29:00Speaker 1: question for you because you had to do exactly that.
- 29:02Speaker 3: Oh well, you would ask the questions and you're close enough.
- 29:05Speaker 1: Do you have a good culture? Yes, okay, but.
- 29:09Speaker 4: You'd ask the players on per But we were also
- 29:11Speaker 4: fortunate enough to be in the running diamonds environment, So
- 29:14Speaker 4: you would see those players from those clubs on a
- 29:16Speaker 4: regular basis. When you went to Diamonds camp, you get
- 29:19Speaker 4: a very good feel for their environments at club level,
- 29:22Speaker 4: how they speak about them, if it's positive or not.
- 29:25Speaker 4: But I mean, I think this day and age, aside
- 29:28Speaker 4: from you know, where are you going to make money,
- 29:30Speaker 4: you'd be looking at your coach, you'd be looking.
- 29:32Speaker 6: At the playing group. I don't know how.
- 29:34Speaker 4: Easy it is to divulge who you're going to be
- 29:37Speaker 4: playing with them in the early stages of negotiation.
- 29:40Speaker 1: Now, well, this is what I've been thinking about all
- 29:42Speaker 1: of it, because it's so well, we think this is
- 29:44Speaker 1: what we want. But you know, presumably they're talking about
- 29:47Speaker 1: let's land the marquee player, and if we get that player,
- 29:50Speaker 1: then we go boom boom, boom, boom boom. If we
- 29:52Speaker 1: don't get that player, then we want this player, and
- 29:54Speaker 1: that's a different set of things. So all of these
- 29:56Speaker 1: discussions would be so contingent on well, if this then that.
- 30:03Speaker 4: Going looking for combinations, for instance, how do you guarantee that.
- 30:07Speaker 5: You don't And I don't think we've seen any goalkeepers announced,
- 30:10Speaker 5: have we. I mean not that I'm biased, Are they important?
- 30:14Speaker 2: Well, maybe they'll be the lightly afterthought at the end when.
- 30:17Speaker 1: You meet you a mid court and a shooter, and
- 30:19Speaker 1: then you've got a defenders.
- 30:21Speaker 5: You don't really need them, do you. But I am
- 30:24Speaker 5: certain like a lot of my understanding of the current
- 30:27Speaker 5: situation is that there are one or two goalkeepers who
- 30:31Speaker 5: have to make a decision, and then everyone else falls
- 30:33Speaker 5: into place after that. And so like, if you're a
- 30:36Speaker 5: goal defense for a wing defense, you're going because it's
- 30:39Speaker 5: exactly that who.
- 30:40Speaker 2: We're going to play with, Well, we don't know, right.
- 30:42Speaker 5: It must be so frustrating for both clubs and players
- 30:46Speaker 5: to go.
- 30:48Speaker 2: How do I know?
- 30:50Speaker 4: Probably the only one where you're starting to get a
- 30:53Speaker 4: feel you're two best.
- 30:54Speaker 3: In the league are wrapped up. You would suspect.
- 30:56Speaker 4: Maloney will be as well. She's not gone anywhere else
- 30:59Speaker 4: than the Vixen's. There is only one goal shooter. I'm
- 31:02Speaker 4: keeping in mind this is Monday, yep, that has been
- 31:04Speaker 4: signed as well, so that flow on effect is still
- 31:06Speaker 4: to come.
- 31:07Speaker 3: That's fascinating, isn't it.
- 31:09Speaker 1: No, We've got Danelle and Shimona announced today.
- 31:16Speaker 5: Everything's breaking. I'm sitting here on my phone going.
- 31:21Speaker 3: Refreshing for it.
- 31:22Speaker 1: So this is a really interesting one now as we
- 31:25Speaker 1: are recording on Monday, so we don't know what's going
- 31:27Speaker 1: on there. But I look at someone like Jesse Grenvold
- 31:29Speaker 1: who went to MAVs behind Tara Hinchcliffe. Tara's been re signed,
- 31:35Speaker 1: and if I'm Jesse now and she, Jesse had a
- 31:38Speaker 1: sensational twenty twenty sixth season and you know, went into
- 31:42Speaker 1: the Diamonds there, And so that's an interesting question, isn't
- 31:45Speaker 1: it that it's like, we'll be great to stay with
- 31:47Speaker 1: the MAVs. I'm assuming she looks like she had a
- 31:49Speaker 1: good time there, but you know the club will want
- 31:53Speaker 1: to bring Tara back on. But so then the whole conversation,
- 31:56Speaker 1: I guess would be about well load management for Tara
- 31:59Speaker 1: and then what does that look like for court time.
- 32:01Speaker 1: And this is just just one example. And by the
- 32:04Speaker 1: time this goes to air on Friday, Jesse may have
- 32:06Speaker 1: gone somewhere else. I don't know, but that for me
- 32:09Speaker 1: is a question that has been on my mind for
- 32:10Speaker 1: a couple of days as to what are the conversations
- 32:13Speaker 1: she is having. Clearly, as such a superstar of the
- 32:17Speaker 1: very near future, this.
- 32:20Speaker 4: Is about controlling the controllables too, right, Like Jess. All
- 32:22Speaker 4: Jesse can do is play well. She had a cracking season.
- 32:26Speaker 4: She just put herself in the best possible position for
- 32:28Speaker 4: a contract at any club.
- 32:31Speaker 6: Everyone will be.
- 32:32Speaker 3: Chasing her, which is all you can do.
- 32:34Speaker 2: Yep.
- 32:34Speaker 3: And then it's about just you know, choosing the fit
- 32:37Speaker 3: that's right for you.
- 32:38Speaker 1: I guess I think I know.
- 32:42Speaker 2: No one ever chased me because I was too loyal.
- 32:44Speaker 1: Matthew did when you had your perm and your braces.
- 32:47Speaker 3: He was playing the longer. Remember that's the girl for me.
- 32:51Speaker 1: No signs long term my husband till I was thirty
- 32:57Speaker 1: five and I was past Danny awkward adolescent. So there's
- 33:01Speaker 1: still hope for me because you're not your Sure, let's
- 33:06Speaker 1: roll with that. Actually, I did make a note then
- 33:08Speaker 1: while you were talking, Catherine, you said something and I thought,
- 33:11Speaker 1: maybe if you do want to have another tattoo, that
- 33:14Speaker 1: this would be something that you could write on your
- 33:17Speaker 1: arm and remember your own wisdom. It says, now you've
- 33:21Speaker 1: got to be sensible, so you should get a tattoo.
- 33:24Speaker 1: It says, now you've got to be sensible. Okay, well,
- 33:28Speaker 1: that was fascinating. We're going to take a little break
- 33:30Speaker 1: and come back. I have a dilemma. Okay, this one
- 33:37Speaker 1: has this this this one. Well, you know, we know
- 33:41Speaker 1: I'm a anka. We know that there's no secret about that.
- 33:44Speaker 1: But so we've started using cooking wine. Love to cook
- 33:48Speaker 1: with wine. But yeah, but so we'd open a bottle
- 33:51Speaker 1: of wine, use it, drink the rest.
- 33:53Speaker 6: But now that actually cooking wine.
- 33:54Speaker 1: Well that's right, So that was wasteful, and it's like, well,
- 33:57Speaker 1: we should get some cooking wine, right, we should get
- 34:00Speaker 1: crappy wine that you just use for cooking. And we
- 34:04Speaker 1: have recently purchased a small cask of wine, the goon bag.
- 34:10Speaker 1: Goon bag, the cheapest, nastiest goon bag that.
- 34:14Speaker 3: We could find.
- 34:16Speaker 1: I can't remember how much it was, and it was
- 34:17Speaker 1: only it's only a two liter two calf two. But
- 34:21Speaker 1: so it sits on the bench in the kitchen right
- 34:23Speaker 1: beside the stove there, and Pete said the other day
- 34:26Speaker 1: could we label it cooking wine? And I said, I
- 34:30Speaker 1: think if we label it cooking wine, it looks like
- 34:34Speaker 1: it's our real wine that we're trying to make look
- 34:37Speaker 1: like it's cooking wine. I think we just have to
- 34:40Speaker 1: let it sit there in the open, not define it
- 34:44Speaker 1: and assume that people will know. Because we are wine
- 34:47Speaker 1: winkers that that is cooking wine. But what do you think?
- 34:52Speaker 1: Do you think? And then he said we should put
- 34:54Speaker 1: it in the fridge, and it's like, well, I think
- 34:55Speaker 1: if we put it in the fridge, then it looks
- 34:56Speaker 1: like our drinking wine. So you know, I think we
- 34:59Speaker 1: just have to be brave and be willing to be
- 35:03Speaker 1: criticized or judged. And if anyone comes into my house
- 35:08Speaker 1: and wants to judge me, will shame on them. But
- 35:11Speaker 1: you know, would you label it cooking wines?
- 35:13Speaker 4: I have a couple of things. Great is the cooking
- 35:16Speaker 4: wine for cereal in the morning? No, No, it's not
- 35:19Speaker 4: that time cooking.
- 35:21Speaker 1: Yeah, it's actually yeah.
- 35:22Speaker 4: I would be offended if the cooking wine was poured
- 35:25Speaker 4: into a glass for me on a rival and handed
- 35:27Speaker 4: to me. Otherwise, I don't care what your cooking wine's doing.
- 35:30Speaker 1: Okay, so you suggest we don't write cooking wine, Well,
- 35:34Speaker 1: we're not going to pour it for you, and I'm
- 35:36Speaker 1: not going to drink it, so I'm not going to
- 35:37Speaker 1: ask anyone else.
- 35:38Speaker 3: That's what I mean.
- 35:39Speaker 4: So I'm not coming into your If you were to
- 35:41Speaker 4: give it to me, i'd be judging you.
- 35:43Speaker 6: But it's very clearly I.
- 35:45Speaker 4: Would have thought, not why that you're drinking it is
- 35:47Speaker 4: for another purpose?
- 35:49Speaker 1: Okay, yep, good, So you're thinking, no point labeling it,
- 35:54Speaker 1: no need, just have it. Yep, that's what I think, Liz.
- 35:58Speaker 5: I think labeling it show who's a bit of insecurity.
- 36:02Speaker 5: So just been very comfortable. I mean, I know you
- 36:05Speaker 5: and Peter very comfortable in who you are. But why
- 36:07Speaker 5: are you leaving it in the open. Wouldn't you just
- 36:09Speaker 5: throw it next to the olive oil? So then it's like,
- 36:11Speaker 5: obviously it's cooking ways it's cooking wine and the olive
- 36:14Speaker 5: they're the same size and shape.
- 36:15Speaker 2: That's obviously the cooking.
- 36:17Speaker 1: Section in the pantry for it.
- 36:20Speaker 4: So buy another little container by another pantry. Cooking wine
- 36:29Speaker 4: is surely decanting the cooking wine is more pretentious or problematic.
- 36:35Speaker 2: Because it will turn to vinegar quick.
- 36:38Speaker 4: So I mean, ship wine, it's tasting like vinegar. Anyway,
- 36:41Speaker 4: that's true.
- 36:42Speaker 5: I've got the answer. I think you just need to
- 36:44Speaker 5: buy a new house with a bigger pantry.
- 36:46Speaker 1: Well, this is this is one of the suggestions that
- 36:48Speaker 1: I made, and maybe then I wouldn't have to clean
- 36:51Speaker 1: this one, so we could just move out and leave
- 36:53Speaker 1: the mess by just.
- 36:55Speaker 3: Buy a bit of wine, more of it saved the
- 36:57Speaker 3: house and drink it.
- 36:58Speaker 1: We do have nice wine, you, Catherine, when you will
- 37:01Speaker 1: come out of here. What we have wine from Western
- 37:04Speaker 1: Australia and wine from Orange obviously is always what you
- 37:08Speaker 1: can expect in this house, all right, So we'll go
- 37:11Speaker 1: with continuing to not label the cooking wine and getting
- 37:14Speaker 1: over ourselves.
- 37:15Speaker 6: Do people label stuff?
- 37:17Speaker 1: I reckon you would bloody label everything.
- 37:20Speaker 4: No, But I mean, like, it's me and my child
- 37:23Speaker 4: in the house, so I'm not labeling stuff because if
- 37:24Speaker 4: I'm not eating it, I know she is. But do
- 37:26Speaker 4: people I'm intrigued if people in bigger like homes with
- 37:30Speaker 4: lots of family members do that.
- 37:32Speaker 1: I used to the trouble of labeling everything in our
- 37:35Speaker 1: linen cupboard. I went through, I unfolded everything, I refolded it,
- 37:40Speaker 1: I got the Diamo out, I did little things on
- 37:42Speaker 1: every shelf, and then no bustard has ever paid attention
- 37:45Speaker 1: to it.
- 37:45Speaker 5: So same I used to, well, I don't label anything
- 37:50Speaker 5: in her house other than the tupperware containers.
- 37:53Speaker 1: And it's a good idea.
- 37:54Speaker 5: I like doing that because I got and I was like, oh, Rice, worrio, Rice,
- 37:59Speaker 5: the stuff them.
- 38:00Speaker 2: That's money, right.
- 38:01Speaker 1: This is your tupperware drawer where you've got lid one go, Yeah,
- 38:06Speaker 1: that's what I saw it A one.
- 38:09Speaker 5: No, But I know I've got one of those in
- 38:12Speaker 5: my pantry. I've got like a heap of those, you know,
- 38:15Speaker 5: the stackable one. So I've got a heap of those,
- 38:18Speaker 5: and I label them. And then when I built my house,
- 38:21Speaker 5: I'm in my tup of wear drawer I have divided
- 38:23Speaker 5: into lids and the rest of it, which is very.
- 38:25Speaker 2: Handy and very good.
- 38:27Speaker 5: So I labeled the tupperware like with the pantry staples.
- 38:30Speaker 5: But we don't label anything else.
- 38:31Speaker 2: I try.
- 38:32Speaker 5: I'm like you, I try the linen cupboard and it
- 38:35Speaker 5: doesn't work because I'm the only one who puts anything
- 38:37Speaker 5: in there, and I just can't can't be asked. But
- 38:39Speaker 5: when I lived in a sharehouse, people used to label
- 38:42Speaker 5: things and I could never be bothered labeling anything.
- 38:46Speaker 3: Did all your stuff go missing?
- 38:47Speaker 2: Yeah, but don't care.
- 38:48Speaker 5: I was like, whatever it like, if you're labeling stuff
- 38:50Speaker 5: in the fridge, it's a bit of a depressing way
- 38:52Speaker 5: to leave, having to label all your stuff in the fridge.
- 38:53Speaker 2: I'd rather just share.
- 38:55Speaker 4: Can I backtrack to Lizella, saying that she had to
- 38:58Speaker 4: label three different kinds of ripe us.
- 39:01Speaker 1: Yes, speaking of wankers. Yes, listen, that's all we've got
- 39:07Speaker 1: time for. We do need to wrap it up. I'm
- 39:09Speaker 1: going to show everyone again my fabulous shirt from our
- 39:12Speaker 1: new merch. Range netballers do it without dribbling, so it's

- 39:20Speaker 1: of the secret. It's not really secret. Please don't make

- 40:03Speaker 1: back and look at some gossip. You need to go
- 40:05Speaker 1: and look at social media like you you're you're an
- 40:07Speaker 1: hour or two behind. But yes, I'm Caroline Swindell.
- 40:10Speaker 6: I'm Cat Cox lose Ellis Bye bye, Hey, I can't talk.
- 40:21Speaker 3: I'm going through socials trying to find.
- 40:23Speaker 1: Okay, Well, I'm going to make a note. At our
- 40:26Speaker 1: next event, I think we run some sort of challenge
- 40:30Speaker 1: that Liz loses and then she has to get a
- 40:34Speaker 1: perm again. Oh how good you would that be?
- 40:38Speaker 3: I'm pretty sure.
- 40:38Speaker 6: But I'm pretty sure I can do home perms nice.
- 40:41Speaker 1: Even better.
- 40:42Speaker 2: If she loves her droopers, she'll do it. She would.
- 40:45Speaker 1: She shouldn't have gone early today, should she? Anyway?
- 40:47Speaker 6: Motion carried by did sign? I just saw that, thanks
