- 0:28SPEAKER_03: It's quite exciting.
- 0:29SPEAKER_03: Brendan seems on good form.
- 0:31SPEAKER_03: You're very confident in himself, which is unlike him.
- 0:34SPEAKER_03: Um, yeah, happy to be doing this podcast again with with both of you.
- 0:39SPEAKER_03: You did you miss us last week?
- 0:43SPEAKER_00: Uh miss, miss, miss is a big word.
- 0:47SPEAKER_00: I was I was uh I missed you guys a bit.
- 0:50SPEAKER_00: I missed I missed having the three of us.
- 0:51SPEAKER_00: I know that the the the dynamic is different when Brendan's not there.
- 0:56SPEAKER_00: There's uh no one to really poke fun at.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: Uh so uh no, I'm I I even uh listened, uh, but I gotta be honest, I turned uh I turned off uh halfway there.
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: I just missed missed uh having myself there as well.
- 1:12SPEAKER_04: That that almost started as a compliment to me and then quickly turned to an insult and then insulted both of us.
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: So I actually I actually listened.
- 1:22SPEAKER_00: I thought it was a pretty good episode.
- 1:24SPEAKER_00: Like all things considering, uh uh, I thought it was a good episode.
- 1:28SPEAKER_03: Did you notice, you, how I made sure that I asked Brendan 32,000 questions to make sure that he had to tell me stuff?
- 1:36SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I noticed.
- 1:38SPEAKER_00: I also uh uh because now uh you're poking fun at me for maybe not live listening to the entire episode.
- 1:44SPEAKER_00: Uh side note, I did listen to the entire episode.
- 1:47SPEAKER_00: But Brendan, you didn't listen to our episode.
- 1:50SPEAKER_04: Nope, I never listened back.
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: No, I feel like like you're you're I'm not I don't want to start shit with you from the get-go, but you're what your one, like no, not your one, but your biggest contributor to this is that you're always up to up to speed on things, you're always up to date, and you're like very keen.
- 2:07SPEAKER_00: If you if you throw away that, like what the what you use.
- 2:13SPEAKER_03: This feels like a conversation we should have off off off recording, but let's do it.
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: No, here at least let's stick together.
- 2:20SPEAKER_00: We're a very open podcast, we're very open about our relationship with each other and with the with the can we call them fans already?
- 2:28SPEAKER_00: Let's call them fans.
- 2:29SPEAKER_00: Uh we gotta have this conversation on because yeah, we're open, right?
- 2:34SPEAKER_03: Brendan are we putting is this a fushly putting Brendan on probation?
- 2:40SPEAKER_03: Let's do it together.
- 2:43SPEAKER_04: Well, it might be how the fuck can somebody just walk in here and think he's now hop dog.
- 2:50SPEAKER_04: Phil, he shouldn't be telling you what to do.
- 2:51SPEAKER_04: It should be the other way around, mate.
- 2:53SPEAKER_04: Oh, you've gone soft.
- 2:56SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's good fun though.
- 2:57SPEAKER_03: I mean, he's poking fun at you, and I missed it last week.
- 3:00SPEAKER_03: So Brennan's on probation.
- 3:01SPEAKER_03: Okay, cool.
- 3:03SPEAKER_03: All right, more on that next week.
- 3:05SPEAKER_03: Um Brennan, are you all good?
- 3:08SPEAKER_04: I'm all good.
- 3:08SPEAKER_04: I'm very good.
- 3:10SPEAKER_03: Okay, nice.
- 3:11SPEAKER_03: Um we're gonna talk a few things.
- 3:13SPEAKER_03: Uh I've got some uh stuff from the first weekend of of Pro League that's just been that you took part of.
- 3:20SPEAKER_03: Uh, I wanted to touch on hockey one.
- 3:23SPEAKER_03: We're gonna answer some questions from Instagram and then we're gonna go into the coupe.
- 3:27SPEAKER_03: Um, first of all, you played this weekend, you played against let's start with with you.
- 3:32SPEAKER_03: We we normally do Hoof classes, but we'll do we'll do international.
- 3:35SPEAKER_03: Why not?
- 3:35SPEAKER_03: You played against Germany and then Belgium.
- 3:39SPEAKER_03: Um, how was how was your first weekend?
- 3:41SPEAKER_03: Was it good being back in the in the Dutch uh back on home soil?
- 3:46SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it was good.
- 3:47SPEAKER_00: Um tough tough two games to be honest.
- 3:52SPEAKER_00: Like uh level was uh first game against Germany was actually quite okay, like not great, but okay.
- 3:57SPEAKER_00: Second game against Belgium was uh um I want to say dog shit, but but it was a bit better than that.
- 4:05SPEAKER_00: Like what shit we played shit.
- 4:07SPEAKER_00: Uh uh it was cool to play in front of the home crowd again because it was uh pretty uh pretty packed.
- 4:13SPEAKER_00: Um we had shootouts twice.
- 4:16SPEAKER_00: Um I think first game against Germany we deserved a bit more, second game against Belgium, they deserved a bit more.
- 4:22SPEAKER_00: So in the end, I think four points uh from six uh possible uh was like decent.
- 4:29SPEAKER_00: We're uh we're top of the pro league table after two games, so that's always good.
- 4:36SPEAKER_00: Uh no, it was fine.
- 4:37SPEAKER_00: Like a lot of new guys, it's uh it's feeling like it's it's a bit weird to to to like start off a new campaign already.
- 4:44SPEAKER_00: Um I know it's it like it feels like it's already, even though it's been three months or like more than three months, almost four.
- 4:51SPEAKER_00: Uh so like you gotta start sometime, and it's but it still feels a bit odd.
- 4:55SPEAKER_00: Uh it's been a really, really long year, 2024, so it feels like a bit of a um yeah.
- 5:02SPEAKER_03: I know what you mean.
- 5:03SPEAKER_03: You already have you're already going again, and and I felt like that when I watched the first games, and then you think like, oh, it's the start, this is the start of the next four years.
- 5:11SPEAKER_03: This is the start of people going.
- 5:13SPEAKER_03: And I watched both games, kind of agree with your general sentiments.
- 5:20SPEAKER_03: Um, like you always expect that though when there's loads of new caps coming in or like new players getting tested, is that the level's not going to be anywhere where it was four months ago.
- 5:29SPEAKER_03: Um, but still kind of interesting to see who played well, who did well.
- 5:34SPEAKER_03: I've got to do it, Brendan.
- 5:36SPEAKER_03: I know this is hard, but I I watched both games.
- 5:39SPEAKER_03: You you are playing like a like a top five guy in the world, and it's it's absolutely kills too.
- 5:46SPEAKER_03: It kills me.
- 5:47SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's tough to say, but like if anyone's watched you play at the moment, it's it's um it's it's glorious.
- 5:53SPEAKER_03: And and I don't want to hand these, I definitely don't hand these compliments out, but you were I thought you were fantastic both games.
- 5:59SPEAKER_03: Um I just wanted to kind of actually touch on that.
- 6:02SPEAKER_03: Do you feel like you're in your prime?
- 6:04SPEAKER_03: Is it is it it looks like it's just super easy for you.
- 6:08SPEAKER_03: The game's coming at you in slow-mo, you're picking the right passes, you you've got your pace up to you know, you know, in the 80s, high 80s, low 90s.
- 6:19SPEAKER_03: Um, yeah, I will I'll try not to make it a joke.
- 6:22SPEAKER_03: It's it's it's it's a joy to watch, mate.
- 6:25SPEAKER_00: Well, first of all, thank you, Philip.
- 6:27SPEAKER_00: I do disagree with you on the second game because I felt like I played like dog shit, to be honest.
- 6:32SPEAKER_00: I missed like um like you never throw aerials, Phil, but Brandon, you probably if if somewhere in your career have had this where you you feel like you're not confident in like a high ball is kind of a is becoming like a big thing in my game, as in I don't throw it far, but I throw it pretty accurate.
- 6:50SPEAKER_00: I couldn't throw a high ball the second game, as in it just slipped off my stick twice, and then I got it got to the point where I was like, Oh, should I throw this one?
- 7:00SPEAKER_00: And then when you want to throw it, the moment is kind of gone to throw it.
- 7:04SPEAKER_00: You you know, you've been.
- 7:05SPEAKER_04: Oh, I've been there.
- 7:07SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I was like it was a bit cold, and my hands were a bit cold, but there's no excuse because I was like, I'm okay, I'm okay, I'm okay.
- 7:15SPEAKER_00: And I I missed one highball in the first half, then second half.
- 7:18SPEAKER_00: I think I think it was like with three minutes to play, and I was really lucky because the guy hit it on the crossbar, but I just threw an aerial, it didn't come off my stick.
- 7:25SPEAKER_00: Three against two.
- 7:26SPEAKER_00: Guy hits it with his back end on the crossbar, otherwise we would have lost the game against Belgium.
- 7:29SPEAKER_00: Um, so yeah, second first game against Germany, I played pretty well.
- 7:34SPEAKER_00: Second game I was against Belgium.
- 7:35SPEAKER_00: Like, I really love you for giving me a compliment the shit, Philip.
- 7:39SPEAKER_00: But I was pretty shit.
- 7:40SPEAKER_00: So I went uh like from like getting close to top five in the first game, I think I dropped all the way to 277th uh in the second.
- 7:48SPEAKER_00: So uh on average I'm still like top 50.
- 7:52SPEAKER_03: Brendan, did you watch the games?
- 7:55SPEAKER_04: Uh I only managed to watch the England games because I don't know how I can watch it over in America.
- 8:00SPEAKER_04: There's no marketing whatsoever about where you can watch it.
- 8:05SPEAKER_04: So I like I've only seen the highlights.
- 8:07SPEAKER_03: We're in a sticky situation as well because they've they've pulled the plug.
- 8:10SPEAKER_03: It's very exciting news on one side because sorry, you just to go off piste very quickly, is that the GB hockey have started a relationship with uh channel four in the UK, and so they're gonna stream the uh the GB in England men's and women's games, which is really good.
- 8:27SPEAKER_03: It's all for free on YouTube or on channel four, which is amazing.
- 8:31SPEAKER_03: Um, but it means that we've lost it on BT Sport or TNT, which means that like I don't actually I agree, Brent, I don't know where to watch the games.
- 8:38SPEAKER_03: So uh just not how did you watch Yupes games?
- 8:41SPEAKER_04: Uh I VPN'd it.
- 8:44SPEAKER_04: On what on what though?
- 8:45SPEAKER_04: As in like through the it was on watch hockey.
- 8:49SPEAKER_03: It was on watch hockey.
- 8:51SPEAKER_04: Um yeah, there is a unsurprisingly, and don't get me wrong, FIH is clearly there's some good things going on.
- 8:57SPEAKER_04: There is such lack of marketing that no I don't have a clue where I can watch it.
- 9:02SPEAKER_04: There's no adverts, there's no anything telling you where you can watch the best hockey there is around at the moment, and I think that's a bit of a misplay from that.
- 9:09SPEAKER_00: Download the the app hockey.nl, and I think there's a complete schedule from the FIH Pro League on there.
- 9:15SPEAKER_04: It's not the schedule, it's where can you watch it?
- 9:19SPEAKER_04: Watch hockey.
- 9:21SPEAKER_04: Thank you, Yupe.
- 9:22SPEAKER_04: Do you work for FIH now?
- 9:23SPEAKER_04: Is this part of your like bidding to be top five player in the world?
- 9:26SPEAKER_04: Do you now work for them?
- 9:27SPEAKER_05: Because the marketing is come on, let's not be around it's not great.
- 9:31SPEAKER_03: Yeah, let's let's get back to the point though.
- 9:33SPEAKER_03: I I guess like the one the things that I wanted to know, Yupe, was like who who shone in them games for you?
- 9:38SPEAKER_03: Like, who do you think is gonna be a one to watch for the next four years?
- 9:42SPEAKER_03: And maybe from the Germany and Belgium teams as well, you know, new caps, new new people.
- 9:48SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I think quite a lot uh sprung sprung out.
- 9:53SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 9:55SPEAKER_00: Uh quite a lot, actually.
- 9:57SPEAKER_00: I think uh uh one guy at our squad that did really well was uh Lucas Fein, young guy.
- 10:03SPEAKER_00: His uh father actually was a captain of the national team, won Olympic gold, um, scored the winning uh stroke, I think, in some some final, I don't know, but a big uh big Holland guy.
- 10:15SPEAKER_00: Uh so it was pretty cool to see him score the final uh the the game-winning shootout against Belgium, and uh he played really well.
- 10:22SPEAKER_00: Um, so he did really well.
- 10:24SPEAKER_00: I still think uh guys like Floris Middendorp, who is like already on the scene already, um, but is still like quite young, uh, is starting to really uh pick up uh and get better and better.
- 10:37SPEAKER_00: Um again, he's already really good, went to the one Olympic gold, one European gold.
- 10:41SPEAKER_00: So like he's not a new guy, far from it, but like a really come onto the scene.
- 10:46SPEAKER_00: Uh, and a guy in Holland uh is Luke Domershuizen, uh, who's played really good at Amsterdam center back with uh with the really blonde, almost white hair.
- 10:56SPEAKER_00: Uh really skillful, is like a modern age center back, can pass, can defend pretty well, has a has a has a decent high ball, as uh can dribble, can eliminate.
- 11:06SPEAKER_00: So I think he's gonna really good.
- 11:08SPEAKER_00: And then Belgium, uh, yeah, I'm not gonna name like the obvious ones, as in uh van Dessel and uh Stockbrooks.
- 11:14SPEAKER_00: I think they're already made their mark in international hockey to to call them like the next up because I think they're already there, if that makes sense.
- 11:22SPEAKER_00: They're already like uh on the top end of Belgium, I think.
- 11:25SPEAKER_00: Um, but there was this guy at Germany, his name is uh um Strutov.
- 11:30SPEAKER_00: Strutov, yeah, yes, the curly guy, really fucking skillful.
- 11:34SPEAKER_00: Um, did really well, scored uh uh scored a shootout in uh in like a pretty cool fashion and like was really uh threatening on the ball.
- 11:42SPEAKER_03: Um and his shootout was insane.
- 11:46SPEAKER_00: Like the the left, right, left, right, left, right.
- 11:48SPEAKER_00: Like the bit of a it reminded me a bit of the the what like the Dixon one, the famous one that he like dribble, dribble, dribble, dribble.
- 11:56SPEAKER_00: Also, I wanted like say something about Schulz, but I'll do it after.
- 11:59SPEAKER_00: Um, there were a couple more like young guys, but I gotta be honest, and it's like it will sound really arrogant, but I don't mean it like that, but it's just it's a new cycle.
- 12:07SPEAKER_00: Some guys I just I've never seen, they were like new to me, so I don't know their names.
- 12:11SPEAKER_00: So there was like a German center central midfielder, I think is he was numbered 42.
- 12:16SPEAKER_00: He was really good, like eliminated, was really good on the ball, uh, played a really good game.
- 12:21SPEAKER_00: It was like a this he reminded me of like Hannes Müller, but Hannes Müller was also really, really good.
- 12:26SPEAKER_00: So um, yeah, there were just were a lot of like new up-and-coming guys.
- 12:30SPEAKER_00: Um, but yeah, they all come from like young Belgium or young Germany.
- 12:33SPEAKER_00: So uh I didn't really know their names yet, but I'm sure it will change within uh within uh months, and everyone will know them.
- 12:40SPEAKER_04: Um it feels like so far the teams are using the pro league for the right reasons, in the fact that there's like like yourselves, you've been established, but you've still got a lot of younger guys with the other nations that are uh it's the rebuild phase, isn't it?
- 12:54SPEAKER_04: And it looks like everybody's using the pro league games for the right reasons and actually using it as a rebuild phase.
- 13:00SPEAKER_04: It's just an appreciation that, as you say, it's also started so quick afterwards that people who need a break, like you if for the women, for example, like Xandervad, the score, like people like that who want a break have to miss international games.
- 13:14SPEAKER_04: So that's like the trade-off is actually just having six months, nine months off for us, obviously, like ropes, aims, etc.
- 13:20SPEAKER_04: Like it's the same thing, like but what I do quite like is the fact that teams are committing to playing the youngsters.
- 13:26SPEAKER_04: It's just a shame that it potentially should have happened 12 months, 24 months earlier for some teams.
- 13:32SPEAKER_00: Yeah, well, I yeah, I kind of I'm a bit uh lopsided in that.
- 13:37SPEAKER_00: And I think like now it's now it's Germany, Holland, and Belgium, and I think two finalists.
- 13:42SPEAKER_00: And to be honest, I think Belgium should have been at least uh uh a top four team.
- 13:48SPEAKER_00: Uh played a really good tournament, just played one really shit the quarter final.
- 13:52SPEAKER_00: Um and they kind of did like the like guys like Stockbrooks, Van Dessel, Onana, pretty young guys who entered the scene already made their made their mark.
- 14:01SPEAKER_00: Like I think everyone is like Van Dessel, for instance, is now kind of a household name, same as TB Stockbrooks.
- 14:07SPEAKER_00: There's those are household names now in international hockey, even though they're still really young.
- 14:11SPEAKER_00: Um but I agree.
- 14:13SPEAKER_00: No, I think uh but I think yeah, that would the it's it's it's like funny to see how how um like experienced players leave and how how kind of effortlessly some young players just step in.
- 14:26SPEAKER_00: Uh and I feel like that was really really cool to see.
- 14:29SPEAKER_00: Um so yeah, no, it was it was good.
- 14:32SPEAKER_00: But one thing before I forget about the shootouts, I feel like they've they're they're starting to to to to to get less and less long, if that makes sense.
- 14:42SPEAKER_00: Like I feel like the second you you start running from the 23, you only have six seconds left.
- 14:47SPEAKER_00: It goes so quickly when you look back at it.
- 14:50SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I think there might have been a problem with the with the with the timer in Amsterdam because I think there was a delay between the time starting and the referee blowing the whistle, because there was definitely one guy who started and it was already down to six seconds before it even got to the dotted mark.
- 15:07SPEAKER_03: So again, I think that's not that 80 seconds is shorter, but I think that that might just be the they would they mess up.
- 15:14SPEAKER_04: I watched the I watched the China-Belgium shootouts and the women out in Chiangzhia, and that literally took ages.
- 15:21SPEAKER_04: That was almost like 10 seconds, or it felt like it did in comparison.
- 15:24SPEAKER_04: So I wonder if it's like as it rope says, it's just a timer thing rather than the actual time.
- 15:29SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 15:30SPEAKER_02: I think going back to it, David did David Ames uh give commentary?
- 15:34SPEAKER_02: He did do commentary.
- 15:35SPEAKER_02: Is he is he has he stopped now as an international player?
- 15:39SPEAKER_03: I don't know, still yet to be decided.
- 15:43SPEAKER_03: Just side gigging, just side gigging.
- 15:45SPEAKER_03: He's always side, he's got he's got a lot, he's side hustling.
- 15:48SPEAKER_04: He's got schemes, mate.
- 15:48SPEAKER_04: He's got schemes coming out of his ears.
- 15:50SPEAKER_03: He's just testing the water.
- 15:53SPEAKER_03: I think they actually wanted Giselle um to do some commentary, and then because he's he lives with Giselle, they were just like, Oh, do you fancy it?
- 16:01SPEAKER_03: And he was like, Yeah, alright.
- 16:02SPEAKER_03: Not to do him a disservice, but I think that's what happened.
- 16:05SPEAKER_04: You've literally just done him a disservice.
- 16:07SPEAKER_03: Yeah, he won't he went mind.
- 16:08SPEAKER_03: He doesn't listen to it.
- 16:09SPEAKER_00: I also think they were gonna, weren't they a bit like uh worried that no one was gonna understand him?
- 16:14SPEAKER_04: He spoke quick.
- 16:17SPEAKER_03: I think I think he did a decent job of slowing himself down and going less Irish, Northern Irish.
- 16:23SPEAKER_03: He did a good job.
- 16:24SPEAKER_04: Good correction, yeah.
- 16:26SPEAKER_03: Um also just to touch on the women's games, um, we've watched some, and uh, like we said last week, England women are playing uh round robin with Belgium and China.
- 16:37SPEAKER_03: Um, England uh I think had 10 or 11 new debutantes in the last two in the over the weekend, and um I really really enjoy watching them.
- 16:47SPEAKER_03: They they lost 2-1 to China in the first game and then they won 3-1 against Belgium in the second game to start their pro league campaign.
- 16:53SPEAKER_03: They've got such a young um but seemingly hungry team.
- 16:58SPEAKER_03: Um yes, we talked about the disappointment over the summer, but but it really seems like you know, just to take an early take from the pro league, is that it was it was a it was a breath of fresh air watching them play some nice hockey, um, show some exciting, exciting players, looked looked hungry to go forward, looked not scared at all.
- 17:17SPEAKER_03: So really enjoyed that.
- 17:18SPEAKER_03: Brendan, did you watch that game?
- 17:20SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I did, and I couldn't agree more.
- 17:22SPEAKER_04: They must be listening to our podcast because we suggested putting Sophie Hamilton down the middle, and they literally did it straight off and put a captain.
- 17:29SPEAKER_04: So yeah, I I think there's like it's a breath of fresh air, I think, just watching a team play with no fear, no worries, and kind of just go after teams.
- 17:40SPEAKER_04: I think it's been um it was just really enjoyable to watch, and it's nice to see the rewards, even though it's very early doors, it's pretty promising from a point of view of the future, which I think is really good.
- 17:52SPEAKER_04: Uh, I would say I thought both goalkeepers have done great so far as well, both youngsters like Mila on debut today.
- 17:58SPEAKER_04: I thought she actually did a great job against Belgium.
- 18:01SPEAKER_04: So, from that point of view, I also think it's just it's just a real positive for what's potentially to come.
- 18:06SPEAKER_04: But as I say, it's very early doors.
- 18:08SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 18:09SPEAKER_03: And just uh to quickly touch on, I wanted to turn this into who who have you actually most enjoyed to to watch from both the men's and the women's this year from 2024.
- 18:20SPEAKER_03: So, like we're talking about watching teams.
- 18:22SPEAKER_03: Who who have you found the most exciting to watch?
- 18:25SPEAKER_03: Who who, if you're if you're seeing them playing in the pro league or whatever it's been, have you been like, oh, I'm gonna stick that on now?
- 18:33SPEAKER_04: I'll go for one that's pretty rogue, unsurprisingly, for me.
- 18:36SPEAKER_04: Um, there's one team that I think every single time we've watched, there is absolute carnage on the pitch, both for and against them, and that is Pakistan men.
- 18:45SPEAKER_04: Um, I remember watching them at the OQ qualifiers out in Oman, and it was absolute carnage.
- 18:51SPEAKER_04: There was goals, there was people sprinting around, there was like skills galore.
- 18:56SPEAKER_04: Like, there's no wonder that so many players from that team have been picked up from like for different leagues at the moment and things like that.
- 19:02SPEAKER_04: I think um it looks like it's on the up again, which is nice to see from that side of things.
- 19:06SPEAKER_04: Like, I've I think a few of us have said before, like there's one place we'd love to have played an international game in, it would have been Pakistan, and I think they're back on the up and things are looking quite positive.
- 19:15SPEAKER_03: I can say with confidence that I've never said that, Brennan.
- 19:18SPEAKER_04: No, we didn't say you've got anyone say that well.
- 19:23SPEAKER_04: No, it's not all about you two, there's other people out there.
- 19:26SPEAKER_04: Disgrace, you two.
- 19:27SPEAKER_04: You are so arrogant, you two, to think that everything's about you two.
- 19:31SPEAKER_04: Shambles.
- 19:32SPEAKER_04: Look at you both giggling away like little schoolgirls.
- 19:34SPEAKER_03: Just wanted to weigh it.
- 19:35SPEAKER_03: Shambles.
- 19:38SPEAKER_04: Yeah, Pakistan for me.
- 19:39SPEAKER_04: Um, the other one was Spain, actually.
- 19:41SPEAKER_04: Spain men, I think they've been really exciting over the past two years as well.
- 19:44SPEAKER_04: I think Max is doing a pretty good job over there from point of view if they look like they've got a bit of an identity again and they look like they're on the up.
- 19:51SPEAKER_04: They've been pretty good to watch.
- 19:52SPEAKER_03: What about Brendan?
- 19:53SPEAKER_03: Just before you go, who's been the worst to watch?
- 19:57SPEAKER_04: The worst to watch?
- 20:00SPEAKER_04: Joe, I'm gonna put it out there.
- 20:02SPEAKER_04: I I don't think New Zealand have been great to watch from what they have been previously.
- 20:08SPEAKER_04: Um I think they've lacked a from a personal point of view, I think they've lacked a little bit of an identity.
- 20:14SPEAKER_04: Um and they've been carried by players like Nick Woods, Sam Lane.
- 20:18SPEAKER_04: Um, I don't necessarily think they've had they've done well to get to where they've got to, but I don't necessarily think they've deserved it based on how they've played.
- 20:26SPEAKER_04: They've just had individuals that have got them out of sticky situations.
- 20:29SPEAKER_03: Fair enough.
- 20:30SPEAKER_03: You what do you think?
- 20:32SPEAKER_00: Um yeah, to be honest, I think, and you're gonna also be surprised by my pick.
- 20:38SPEAKER_00: It's India.
- 20:40SPEAKER_00: Uh I put them down just on the sheer fact that I think uh Hadik uh was amazing this year.
- 20:47SPEAKER_00: Um with his high ball.
- 20:49SPEAKER_00: Uh yeah, and sorry to bring it up again, but the quarter final against you guys was one of the best individual performances I've seen by a player uh in a while.
- 20:58SPEAKER_00: Like he was insane.
- 20:59SPEAKER_00: I'm really sorry, Philip.
- 21:00SPEAKER_00: I don't mean it like that, but you asked me this question.
- 21:03SPEAKER_00: I'm really sorry, but he was really, really good that game.
- 21:06SPEAKER_00: But I think India is always fun to watch because it's it's like uh organized chaos with them.
- 21:11SPEAKER_00: Uh they can get a red card.
- 21:13SPEAKER_00: Uh, like they had the incident with uh Spain where uh Amit just hit a ball with two seconds to play on knee height through a Spanish player.
- 21:21SPEAKER_00: Um, like anything can happen with those guys.
- 21:23SPEAKER_00: So I feel like it's it's a really fun team to watch with a lot of individual quality, and like if there's you're always when you play against them, you're always kind of scared to end up in a highlight reel, if that makes sense.
- 21:34SPEAKER_00: If you're a defender, because every striker of them is so fucking skillful.
- 21:38SPEAKER_00: Um, so yeah, I've enjoyed watching them the most.
- 21:41SPEAKER_00: Spain was also on my list because I think they're really on the up.
- 21:44SPEAKER_00: Um and the worst to watch like I think they're one of the best teams right now, but I feel like I've never really liked Germany.
- 21:54SPEAKER_00: As in, um, they have so many skillful players, but they play nine out of ten times.
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: They play this deep zone, the small zone.
- 22:03SPEAKER_00: Uh with like a stupid, stupid uh development in hockey is the low zone.
- 22:11SPEAKER_00: It's terrible for hockey.
- 22:13SPEAKER_00: Uh it's only high balls then, and smacking balls into the circle.
- 22:16SPEAKER_00: There's no space to really eliminate anymore.
- 22:19SPEAKER_00: Um, and they're really good at keeping the ball for like 60 minutes.
- 22:23SPEAKER_00: So, yeah, it's not the and then they don't play this like the running gun game or like England and Holland do.
- 22:28SPEAKER_00: They're just go, they're just slow down, slow down, play again, deep zone, low zone, whatever.
- 22:33SPEAKER_03: And yeah, yeah, I always find it a bit concerning when we just match up completely.
- 22:38SPEAKER_03: Because my two worst ones were even though they're the best two teams, was Germany and Belgium, because I think they're so calculated in what they do that it just turns into a game of like tactical, how can we break you down?
- 22:54SPEAKER_03: We've still got some of the world's best players, but you know, it is showcased a little bit, but probably not in the way that I enjoy watching hockey.
- 23:01SPEAKER_03: Like I can appreciate it, but it's never like oh god, I've got to get on the I've got to put the TV on and watch Germany play.
- 23:08SPEAKER_03: Um, I want to watch it maybe to watch Velen do something amazing, but not to see them go into a low block and keep the ball and and and wear a team out.
- 23:19SPEAKER_03: Whereas, like you already said, I think if Holland, if Holland were playing, if India were playing, if Australia were playing, I was like, okay, I'll I think I'd put the TV on for them.
- 23:31SPEAKER_03: You want to watch them because it is more chaotic, it is more run and gun.
- 23:35SPEAKER_03: Um, and this isn't saying that there's a problem, it's just I thought it was a fun question to ask who who's the best teams to watch and who's the worst.
- 23:43SPEAKER_04: Um I think India, I think India are phenomenal to watch.
- 23:46SPEAKER_04: Like I know you said about Hardic and like people, but for me, the uh lad up front for them called Sukji, I think is massively underrated in terms of that skill level.
- 23:56SPEAKER_04: Like, I think he's actually pretty ridiculous.
- 23:58SPEAKER_04: I'll be sure yeah, exactly.
- 24:01SPEAKER_04: Like there's so many players that you pick out and you're like, actually, they scored some pretty unreal goals.
- 24:06SPEAKER_04: Um, but also they've I think Craig Fulton's done a pretty unbelievable job to actually make them difficult to break down as well.
- 24:13SPEAKER_04: So from that point of view, I think they've kind of started to get an all-round package that previously they haven't had.
- 24:18SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and I I forgot one.
- 24:20SPEAKER_03: China men, oh god, they are absolute, they are absolute carnage and in a great way.
- 24:26SPEAKER_03: They've got a guy at the back who wears two gloves and slides the ball at a million miles an hour.
- 24:30SPEAKER_03: Anytime he gets it, it's gotta go over 60 yards.
- 24:33SPEAKER_03: It just can't go.
- 24:34SPEAKER_03: They've got three forwards who don't run back.
- 24:36SPEAKER_03: They they've got four subs that they don't use.
- 24:38SPEAKER_03: Um, it was just it was like a highly games I've never played in.
- 24:42SPEAKER_03: Doing our doing our research for that get Olympic qualifier game was actually fun for the first time ever.
- 24:49SPEAKER_03: Being like, what in the earth is this?
- 24:50SPEAKER_03: This is incredible.
- 24:52SPEAKER_03: They play hockey like no one else, right?
- 24:54SPEAKER_03: We're gonna have to jump to a break.
- 24:56SPEAKER_03: We'll be back in a second.
- 24:59SPEAKER_03: And we're back, and just wanted to, before we move to questions from Insta and maybe maybe some coop, um, wanted to touch on the hockey one league.
- 25:08SPEAKER_03: Have you both watched or been following any of the hockey one league?
- 25:13SPEAKER_00: Kind of following, not watched, uh, but I follow uh Orchard.
- 25:18SPEAKER_00: Um who maybe I don't know if he listens.
- 25:22SPEAKER_00: Uh he should come on our pod, or we should come on his.
- 25:25SPEAKER_00: Uh, I think we're he's our only competitor as like a good hockey podcast right now.
- 25:30SPEAKER_00: So um Simon Orchard, if you're not a bitch, come on this podcast.
- 25:36SPEAKER_00: Um no, I've I've chatted with him.
- 25:40SPEAKER_00: He's I think he will come uh come join a podcast once, but because of him, I started like kind of following it, and I'm also quite ambitious to one day play there, as in uh it seems like a really cool setup, uh, cool country to play in.
- 25:53SPEAKER_00: Um they kind of like up their game a bit, so I feel like it would be a cool place to play one day.
- 25:58SPEAKER_00: Um, but yeah, um I I think uh the team that won last year with the orange jersey, they they they got third, I think, this year.
- 26:09SPEAKER_03: Yeah, the Brisbane Blaze.
- 26:10SPEAKER_03: You're just you're just taking all this stuff from me.
- 26:12SPEAKER_03: You let's just let's just bring Brandy.
- 26:14SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you do you do your shit your shit first.
- 26:16SPEAKER_00: Uh Philip, go on.
- 26:20SPEAKER_03: Oh, it's nice to have him back, isn't it?
- 26:22SPEAKER_03: And just sit back and let him.
- 26:24SPEAKER_04: This is what happens when Phil plans stuff.
- 26:27SPEAKER_04: You comes in and wings it and then just decides to take over.
- 26:30SPEAKER_04: This is the this is exactly what the fans need to hear and see.
- 26:34SPEAKER_03: Brendan, have you watched any hockey one or followed it, or are you just is that is that time difference too big for you?
- 26:40SPEAKER_04: I have very much followed it.
- 26:42SPEAKER_04: I and I know you're gonna touch on this, Phil, but what now, Tim?
- 26:46SPEAKER_04: Or what next, Tim?
- 26:48SPEAKER_04: His Instagram is the reason that I follow it.
- 26:51SPEAKER_04: It's so good, and it's something that we miss.
- 26:53SPEAKER_04: I think in the UK, and I think it's something that's missed in the Dutch league now.
- 26:57SPEAKER_04: Is that high quality social media?
- 27:00SPEAKER_04: But I'll let you talk about it.
- 27:02SPEAKER_03: Well, no, you've you've already touched on it nicely.
- 27:04SPEAKER_03: There's a there's a Instagram account called WhatNow Tim.
- 27:07SPEAKER_03: He's not paying us, we just we're just both fans.
- 27:10SPEAKER_03: Uh, if you go on it, uh he's done uh some incredible like HD slow-mos of um players, you know, saves or just highlight reels throughout the tournament.
- 27:20SPEAKER_03: And he's got some real traction uh because the you know the contents the content's amazing, does really does really great things.
- 27:26SPEAKER_03: As Yoop's already said, I think they've they've started to create a product which makes people interested.
- 27:32SPEAKER_03: Even us from the other side of the world, you know, we heard about this thing called Hockey One a couple of years ago, and then suddenly it's something that I've become engaged with.
- 27:42SPEAKER_03: Um trying to follow a bit about what's happening.
- 27:45SPEAKER_03: There's there's six, I think, state teams from all around Australia play each other for five or six weeks.
- 27:53SPEAKER_03: Um, and yeah, it's just finished.
- 27:55SPEAKER_03: And and and and I watched the Perth Thundersticks win the women's competition, uh, beating the Tazzy Tigers, and HC Melbourne won the men's beating the Canberra Chill in the grand final.
- 28:06SPEAKER_03: Um, yeah, I I just just thought it was worth touching on because it seems like they're doing something right out there.
- 28:12SPEAKER_03: They've got stadiums, they've got you know it's a it's a it's a franchise thing, they're they're they're doing a great job from from what I can see.
- 28:19SPEAKER_03: Also, shout out to Y1 legend Peter Scott for featuring in most of the what now team Instagrams uh for looking like he's turned annoyer and also winning the whole tournament with HT Melbourne.
- 28:31SPEAKER_03: Um, yeah, I do think per tonstick swimming got a bit of a cheat code because um Ava.
- 28:39SPEAKER_03: Ava the Hood uh was playing for them this year, and it's apparently they went completely unbeaten all year and won the whole thing quite easily.
- 28:48SPEAKER_03: Do you have a problem with the pronunciation or something?
- 28:51SPEAKER_00: Mate Ava and the Hood like there's I I get that some things are difficult for you guys there over uh your stupid island, but Ava and the Hood it's Ava de Hude, come on.
- 29:04SPEAKER_01: She's three times and two times world player of the year, Philip.
- 29:08SPEAKER_01: Come on.
- 29:09SPEAKER_04: Sorry, job.
- 29:10SPEAKER_03: You have a stupid language, you have a really stupid language.
- 29:13SPEAKER_03: Who uses in a language?
- 29:16SPEAKER_00: You're the only fucking country in the world that uses yards.
- 29:19SPEAKER_00: Don't start this thing.
- 29:21SPEAKER_04: I got a point.
- 29:23SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I've got a problem with you guys.
- 29:25SPEAKER_00: No, now you're now just because you're American, Brendan.
- 29:28SPEAKER_01: You guys still don't think you're a part of Europe.
- 29:32SPEAKER_03: Charles can get full beans.
- 29:34SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I mean, we are available.
- 29:36SPEAKER_03: I think we should make that clear.
- 29:38SPEAKER_03: Maybe no, Brendan's not, Brendan's retired.
- 29:39SPEAKER_03: Me and Yupe are available.
- 29:41SPEAKER_03: I mean, I'll just piggyback on the back of Yupe's success now.
- 29:44SPEAKER_03: If you want us as a pair for next year's Hockey Australia One League, you get in touch with me first.
- 29:49SPEAKER_03: Don't go direct to him.
- 29:50SPEAKER_03: It's me first.
- 29:51SPEAKER_03: I will decide our price.
- 29:53SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 29:54SPEAKER_03: Have we got any uh have we have we got any um closing remarks on the hockey one?
- 30:00SPEAKER_03: Apart from the fact that yes, Simon Orchard is doing a great job.
- 30:03SPEAKER_03: Uh the shootout is his podcast, which I've listened to as well.
- 30:06SPEAKER_03: Got some ideas, they're they're doing a great job over there.
- 30:09SPEAKER_04: I think it's a cool product.
- 30:10SPEAKER_04: I think there's yeah, you guys have said it, they're doing so much right at the moment, and I think there's probably a lot that others could learn off it.
- 30:17SPEAKER_04: Um, but yeah, it's a great they're doing a great job.
- 30:19SPEAKER_00: Yeah, well done to you.
- 30:20SPEAKER_00: You're also the legends.
- 30:25SPEAKER_03: Um, right, okay.
- 30:26SPEAKER_03: We're gonna do some questions from for for Insta.
- 30:29SPEAKER_03: Brendan's completely given up on the Instagram, so um, I took it upon myself to to to do a put a post again.
- 30:37SPEAKER_01: Brendan, Brendan, the thing you you bring to this podcast, the things you bring are you're good with social media and you're up to speed, right, y'all?
- 30:46SPEAKER_01: Right now, you're not up to speed and you don't deliver on social media.
- 30:51SPEAKER_00: Step the f up, Brendan.
- 30:52SPEAKER_00: Come on, you're like, you're like, you're it's two strikes, you're three strikes, and we're bringing in David Ames again.
- 30:59SPEAKER_01: No, we're not, but no, no, I think we can do better.
- 31:02SPEAKER_00: We're not, but he has to feel some consequences to his behavior, Philip.
- 31:06SPEAKER_00: This is like telling your kid you can't have a cookie and your father's in the corner.
- 31:09SPEAKER_00: You can have a cookie, son.
- 31:10SPEAKER_00: Come on, Brendan.
- 31:12SPEAKER_03: Also, uh, if we're jumping on the piggy bank, Tom Hudson, who is a who's a long, long time friend of the podcast, he's doing us some he's gonna feed back some uh information out in he's out in China uh working and he's gone to the games, he's gonna feed us back some stuff.
- 31:28SPEAKER_03: He's he's also very unhappy with you, Brendan.
- 31:30SPEAKER_03: Um, he's a good friend of Brendan.
- 31:32SPEAKER_03: He says, reply to him or the friendship's over.
- 31:34SPEAKER_04: So I've been replying to him, it's all good.
- 31:37SPEAKER_03: As an official warning.
- 31:40SPEAKER_04: Oh god, tough crowd.
- 31:43SPEAKER_04: You're not wrong anyway.
- 31:44SPEAKER_01: You're not wrong.
- 31:46SPEAKER_01: Threatening the friendship is over is really in Brennan's defense.
- 31:49SPEAKER_03: There's like really, really I did that on behalf of Tom as well, so you know, we'll see how that went.
- 31:58SPEAKER_03: Um, right, we yeah, we put some stuff out on Instagram.
- 32:01SPEAKER_03: Um, I'm gonna ask the more fun, light-hearted stuff, or maybe the stuff that isn't gonna take too long to cover.
- 32:07SPEAKER_03: Um, but yeah, we'll just you feel to jump jump in and see what you see what you think.
- 32:13SPEAKER_03: Um first question: how much practice did you do on your own growing up as to be as good as you are?
- 32:22SPEAKER_03: I assume that was based on put to all three of us.
- 32:24SPEAKER_03: So when we were playing hockey growing up, how much did you do on your own?
- 32:27SPEAKER_00: You a lot.
- 32:31SPEAKER_00: Um to be honest, I'm sorry, I don't know who asked the question, but like do you want like hours?
- 32:39SPEAKER_00: Like, what do you want?
- 32:40SPEAKER_00: Like, of course, we play we trained a lot hours.
- 32:42SPEAKER_04: That's enough for you, mate.
- 32:43SPEAKER_04: That's enough, a lot.
- 32:44SPEAKER_04: Okay, cheerio.
- 32:46SPEAKER_04: Uh I'm with you as well.
- 32:48SPEAKER_04: I'm going with a lot.
- 32:50SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's it's it's probably practice makes perfect.
- 32:53SPEAKER_03: We we all probably yeah, I've spent a lot of time doing extra work outside of training to try and get to where we want to get to, but we don't want to put people off and abuse their questions, only if it's really stupid.
- 33:05SPEAKER_03: So thank you, Molly.
- 33:06SPEAKER_03: Um, Brendan, well done, Molly.
- 33:09SPEAKER_01: Great question.
- 33:11SPEAKER_03: Brendan, since becoming a coach, has your perception changed on pre any previous coaches?
- 33:18SPEAKER_03: That's actually quite a good question from Norab.
- 33:21SPEAKER_03: Norab.
- 33:22SPEAKER_03: We'll call him Norab.
- 33:23SPEAKER_01: I'm saying Molly's question wasn't good, Phil.
- 33:27SPEAKER_03: Uh it sounds like that, but I didn't mean that, Molly.
- 33:29SPEAKER_03: Keep listening.
- 33:31SPEAKER_01: Molly, Molly, I think I was genuinely, I think it was a good question.
- 33:35SPEAKER_01: Phil on the other hand is really, really poking fun at you.
- 33:40SPEAKER_04: Not putting words in my mouth, Brendan.
- 33:43SPEAKER_04: Um not really.
- 33:45SPEAKER_04: I think I've just probably now appreciate what I do differently.
- 33:49SPEAKER_04: But that doesn't necessarily mean a coach is good or bad, it's just my perception of if I liked it or not.
- 33:54SPEAKER_04: Do you know what I mean?
- 33:55SPEAKER_00: So it's like no, I don't know what you mean.
- 33:58SPEAKER_00: Can you please be a bit more specific, elaborate, and explain?
- 34:01SPEAKER_00: No one knows what you mean right now.
- 34:03SPEAKER_04: If a like coach does it a certain something a certain way, I've now probably look back looking back, will be like, I either liked it or I didn't, and that impacts how I've then I then coach, if that makes sense.
- 34:15SPEAKER_00: No, again, doesn't make sense.
- 34:18SPEAKER_04: Can you come to the point?
- 34:20SPEAKER_04: And let's say, for example, you if you that basically, lo and behold, I think I was already probably making my mind up as a player as to how I would coach if I was to coach.
- 34:30SPEAKER_04: So I wouldn't necessarily say now I'm a coach looking back, I probably look at it differently.
- 34:35SPEAKER_04: I think I was doing that as a player anyway.
- 34:37SPEAKER_03: It's it's saying as uh have you get any more like have you have you had any more empathy for any previous coaches?
- 34:43SPEAKER_03: Have you oh can you put yourself in can you put yourself in their shoes and say, okay, I feel like better or worse about how I was treated in this situation or this situation?
- 34:54SPEAKER_03: Does it because you're you're now in a in a place where you're actively thinking about players in a completely different way than you were six months ago?
- 35:02SPEAKER_03: I think that's his question.
- 35:03SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I oh 100%.
- 35:05SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I think because you now see how many different perspectives you're dealing with to try and get a point across, it has to be so succinct, otherwise you're having to explain yourself in about 15 or 16 different ways.
- 35:17SPEAKER_04: So I think like, yeah, I've got a lot more empathy.
- 35:20SPEAKER_04: Um, and I definitely have a lot more understanding as to why coaches' meetings take so long sometimes to prep stuff or like to even just a session design because you've got to try and attack everything from all aspects, which I think is like looking back, had a real lack of appreciation for how detailed and difficult coaching at a high level is.
- 35:42SPEAKER_04: I think it's it's obviously easier at a lower level, but the higher up you see it done, the detail that comes in is pretty unbelievable.
- 35:51SPEAKER_04: So I think from that point of view, yeah, I have a massive appreciation for how hard it is.
- 35:55SPEAKER_00: See, it's it it took a while, but in the end we got there.
- 35:58SPEAKER_00: Well done, Brendan.
- 35:59SPEAKER_00: Great answer.
- 35:59SPEAKER_04: Don't know why that was you, because Phil explained it, and you offered nothing but no, do it better.
- 36:05SPEAKER_04: Hey you I think we both did well there.
- 36:07SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's why I would be a good coach as well.
- 36:10SPEAKER_00: Just shut the fuck up and do better.
- 36:13SPEAKER_03: Hey, that's good advice.
- 36:14SPEAKER_03: I like that advice.
- 36:15SPEAKER_03: Be better, it's good advice.
- 36:16SPEAKER_00: Phil's advice to me for years.
- 36:18SPEAKER_00: Matthew Alles, our strength and conditioning trainer, always says uh don't be sorry, be better.
- 36:24SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 36:24SPEAKER_03: No, we're looking for we've also got inspirational quotes for you today, so there you go.
- 36:28SPEAKER_03: This is this episode's got it all.
- 36:31SPEAKER_03: Um, people are asking about indoor hockey, so I'm gonna skip them for now because it's not that exciting.
- 36:36SPEAKER_03: I hear you're playing.
- 36:37SPEAKER_04: No one cares.
- 36:38SPEAKER_04: I hear you're playing this year, Phil.
- 36:40SPEAKER_03: No, I'm I'm I'm training some indoor hockey because I think some of my holidays probably not gonna struggle.
- 36:47SPEAKER_03: Um, P Marshall 5 asked your best 11 player for player with teams or clubs played with.
- 36:53SPEAKER_03: Now that's gonna take ages, so I'm just gonna ask for who you haven't said yet on the podcast who's a player you've really enjoyed playing with.
- 37:04SPEAKER_00: I can go really quickly to my uh through my 11 though.
- 37:08SPEAKER_04: Oh, grow up, you're not playing that game.
- 37:11SPEAKER_03: Go on, no, no, no, we'll put him put him to the test.
- 37:13SPEAKER_04: Go on, you oh no, I don't want to hear it.
- 37:15SPEAKER_04: It's gonna be some Dutch bloke, some Dutch bloke, some Dutch bloke, some Dutch bloke, and then Rashid out of nowhere.
- 37:19SPEAKER_04: That's what it's gonna be.
- 37:21SPEAKER_01: It's kind of true, to be honest.
- 37:23SPEAKER_01: Like, I would go with uh with black and goal, Rashid on the head.
- 37:29SPEAKER_01: That's all you need to know.
- 37:30SPEAKER_00: I think for sure Rashid is in there, Bamin Stanzel is in there, uh, and as a striker, Rob Breckers is in there.
- 37:38SPEAKER_00: You've said Rob Reckers before.
- 37:40SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you have fine.
- 37:42SPEAKER_00: Then I'll go with have we spoken about Cherry Brigman on this podcast?
- 37:51SPEAKER_03: Yeah, Brenn Brendan go on, he's the you've still a few.
- 37:55SPEAKER_04: I'll go with just one, Luke Taylor.
- 37:57SPEAKER_04: He's an absolute dream to play next to.
- 37:59SPEAKER_04: Uh fullback flicker.
- 38:01SPEAKER_04: Did not expect that.
- 38:03SPEAKER_04: He's a dream to play with.
- 38:05SPEAKER_03: Incredibly rash.
- 38:06SPEAKER_03: Keep it on.
- 38:13SPEAKER_03: Stephen Ebbers from Wimbledon, but he's also a Dutchie.
- 38:16SPEAKER_03: I love that guy.
- 38:17SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 38:17SPEAKER_04: Who's his name?
- 38:19SPEAKER_03: Stephen Ebbers.
- 38:22SPEAKER_00: Never heard of him.
- 38:23SPEAKER_03: Yeah, he played for Amsterdam back in the day.
- 38:24SPEAKER_03: He's a good guy.
- 38:26SPEAKER_00: Good player.
- 38:28SPEAKER_03: Um okay, um, next question.
- 38:31SPEAKER_03: What are your December holiday plans?
- 38:34SPEAKER_00: My December holiday plans.
- 38:36SPEAKER_00: Oh, here we go.
- 38:37SPEAKER_00: None of your business.
- 38:39SPEAKER_00: That's for me and my people around me to know, and not for you guys.
- 38:45SPEAKER_00: No, probably probably going on a little holiday because it's been a lot of hockey, and I'm probably going to Spain with Bloom to the sun and getting getting getting my tan on.
- 38:58SPEAKER_04: Never use that phrase ever again.
- 39:03SPEAKER_03: Yeah, even some winter sun in Spain and you're getting burnt, so he needs to get under them under them college.
- 39:09SPEAKER_01: Oh, the ginger joke, it's back.
- 39:11SPEAKER_01: You purely fuck.
- 39:12SPEAKER_01: Uh, what about you, brethren?
- 39:16SPEAKER_04: Um Christmas is gonna be in America, so this will be my first Christmas, yeah.
- 39:21SPEAKER_01: With Maddy's parents and Maddie's side about it, right?
- 39:24SPEAKER_04: I'm well excited.
- 39:26SPEAKER_04: Christmas in America, first Christmas, everybody.
- 39:29SPEAKER_01: I'm well excited, it's gonna be sick.
- 39:32SPEAKER_01: It sounds like it.
- 39:33SPEAKER_01: You feel left.
- 39:35SPEAKER_03: Yeah, well, I'm I'm just going, I'm just going back up north uh to see my family.
- 39:40SPEAKER_03: I mean, I did go to Marrakesh a couple of weeks ago, which was glorious.
- 39:43SPEAKER_03: But apart from that, I can't do more.
- 39:47SPEAKER_03: When did you go to Marrakesh?
- 39:49SPEAKER_03: I went to Marrakesh a few weeks ago.
- 39:51SPEAKER_03: It was glorious.
- 39:52SPEAKER_03: You said exactly the same phrase again.
- 39:54SPEAKER_03: Yeah, sorry.
- 39:56SPEAKER_03: It was really good.
- 39:57SPEAKER_03: It was fantastic.
- 39:58SPEAKER_03: I learned a lot.
- 39:59SPEAKER_03: I was I was amid the culture.
- 40:01SPEAKER_00: What did you learn, Philip?
- 40:03SPEAKER_00: Don't start bullshitting my hack.
- 40:05SPEAKER_00: You learned absolutely fuck all I just had a good time.
- 40:08SPEAKER_00: Come on.
- 40:08SPEAKER_03: No, I learned how to ride a camel.
- 40:10SPEAKER_03: That was that's that's fair enough.
- 40:12SPEAKER_03: I I learned how to pour Moroccan tea.
- 40:15SPEAKER_03: You have to go from the bottom all the way to the top.
- 40:18SPEAKER_03: That's and the the the spout of the pour gets longer.
- 40:22SPEAKER_03: I learned what tajin is.
- 40:25SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's the thing you cook in, right?
- 40:28SPEAKER_00: No?
- 40:32SPEAKER_03: It is, but but it's it's more what's in it.
- 40:34SPEAKER_03: It's a tajin is what's in it.
- 40:37SPEAKER_00: Okay, let's let's have this conversation.
- 40:39SPEAKER_00: Is it not?
- 40:40SPEAKER_03: Nick's shouting, I don't think it is.
- 40:43SPEAKER_03: Well, I think we're all wrong, so I'm gonna come back to you.
- 40:47SPEAKER_04: I feel like both of you need to go to Marrakesh.
- 40:49SPEAKER_03: Oh, damn it.
- 40:50SPEAKER_03: I think Nick's told me that I think you're right.
- 40:53SPEAKER_03: Damn it.
- 40:54SPEAKER_00: Of course I am.
- 40:56SPEAKER_03: Next next question.
- 40:58SPEAKER_03: Next question.
- 40:59SPEAKER_03: Rory Johnson asks, Is Hockey Island becoming more of a threat to England?
- 41:04SPEAKER_03: No, there's only one question.
- 41:06SPEAKER_03: Yeah, thank you, Brennan.
- 41:08SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 41:09SPEAKER_03: The next question is from Alistair, who's just I don't think it's a question.
- 41:12SPEAKER_03: It says, more upcoming GB talents coming through.
- 41:16SPEAKER_03: Some of the EDP boys stepping up.
- 41:19SPEAKER_03: That's not a question, is it?
- 41:21SPEAKER_00: Great question.
- 41:24SPEAKER_00: Well done to you, Alistair.
- 41:26SPEAKER_03: There is there is some EDP boys stepping up.
- 41:29SPEAKER_03: What's EDP?
- 41:31SPEAKER_03: Uh elite development program.
- 41:33SPEAKER_03: It's like the the program below our program.
- 41:39SPEAKER_00: Can I ask why they call it elite if it's uh below your program?
- 41:44SPEAKER_03: It's such a great question.
- 41:45SPEAKER_03: Well it's not it's not a great question because it's still it's still elite players trying to get into the centralized program.
- 41:52SPEAKER_00: It's it's elite, but it's like not really.
- 41:56SPEAKER_03: You're not quite elite enough yet.
- 41:59SPEAKER_00: You it how can you be elite if you're not part of the elite?
- 42:04SPEAKER_00: Let's call it mediocre.
- 42:06SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but you are MDP.
- 42:10unknown: MDP.
- 42:13SPEAKER_03: Okay, right.
- 42:14SPEAKER_03: There's three questions in one from this person.
- 42:16SPEAKER_03: Has Umpiring got better this season?
- 42:19SPEAKER_04: No, next one, right?
- 42:21SPEAKER_03: Uh who has the best kit at the moment?
- 42:24SPEAKER_03: It's a good question.
- 42:26SPEAKER_00: Um you guys gotta agree.
- 42:30SPEAKER_00: The away kit from us has has gotten pretty good this year.
- 42:33SPEAKER_00: I'm not saying it's the best, but it's gotten pretty good.
- 42:35SPEAKER_00: The white with light blue, yeah, it's good.
- 42:37SPEAKER_00: It's gotten pretty good.
- 42:39SPEAKER_03: Our away OG strip is also really nice right now.
- 42:42SPEAKER_03: Sorry to bring that up, but it is really nice.
- 42:44SPEAKER_00: It's really nice.
- 42:45SPEAKER_03: It's annoyingly nice.
- 42:46SPEAKER_00: Which which colour is it?
- 42:48SPEAKER_03: It's uh it's it's a bit Argentinian.
- 42:51SPEAKER_03: Well and blue stripes, it's nice.
- 42:53SPEAKER_03: Is that your own kit?
- 42:54SPEAKER_03: Don't know, it's just uh they just introduced a third kit.
- 42:58SPEAKER_04: Oh I think you've got four kits in total, haven't you?
- 43:01SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 43:02SPEAKER_00: So okay, that's awesome.
- 43:04SPEAKER_03: But also Man Manheim's kit, I really like that pink kit.
- 43:07SPEAKER_00: Yeah, the pink one's cool.
- 43:08SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's cool.
- 43:09SPEAKER_03: Okay, and who who is who at the moment has got the worst change of rooms?
- 43:13SPEAKER_03: Oh.
- 43:14SPEAKER_04: Uh clients which are do you know, do you know what's one of the worst?
- 43:18SPEAKER_04: Wimbledon, not the obviously the clubhouse, but the ones in the little hut by the pitch.
- 43:23SPEAKER_04: That's shite.
- 43:24SPEAKER_04: That's a waste of time.
- 43:26SPEAKER_04: Okay, comprehensively answered.
- 43:30SPEAKER_04: Yeah, well, you're practically climbing into someone else's boxes, there's not enough room to change in there.
- 43:35SPEAKER_03: Cardiff, Cardiff uh's change rooms.
- 43:38SPEAKER_03: We had to walk about 20 minutes through a maze in the sports centre, which was tough.
- 43:43SPEAKER_03: So we were like, we're like, can we leave it in here?
- 43:46SPEAKER_03: Can we leave our kit in here?
- 43:47SPEAKER_03: And they were like no, because we won't be able to find the change room again.
- 43:51SPEAKER_00: I would really love to just play for like three weeks, three or four weeks in England and just didn't get the hang of it.
- 43:57SPEAKER_01: It sounds like such a shit show.
- 44:00SPEAKER_01: It's actually fun.
- 44:02SPEAKER_04: Every away game is just an enjoyment.
- 44:06SPEAKER_03: You turn up every single training and game just with this puzzled look on your face, like, wait, this is it?
- 44:12SPEAKER_03: And you'd be like, Yeah, yeah.
- 44:14SPEAKER_03: This is it.
- 44:15SPEAKER_01: You'd be like, no, no.
- 44:19SPEAKER_01: You guys decide to spend money on things which are like so funny to me.
- 44:24SPEAKER_01: Like you don't have shit to buy a camera, but you do have like five kits a team.
- 44:28SPEAKER_01: Like, like, how is that possible?
- 44:30SPEAKER_04: Phil, that that is a big thing.
- 44:32SPEAKER_04: Your club has got four lovely kits, but you've arguably got the worst setup in the league.
- 44:39SPEAKER_03: No, no, I disagree with that.
- 44:40SPEAKER_03: That's not true.
- 44:42SPEAKER_00: And the thing is with OGs, is they spend so much money on their players that they that I get that they don't have any money left for other things.
- 44:49SPEAKER_03: There you go.
- 44:50SPEAKER_04: Okay, let's get that out of the way.
- 44:51SPEAKER_04: It's not a good setup, though, is it?
- 44:53SPEAKER_04: Come on.
- 44:53SPEAKER_04: Let's be honest.
- 44:54SPEAKER_03: What do you mean it's not a good setup?
- 44:55SPEAKER_03: I don't understand.
- 44:56SPEAKER_00: Can we please go to the next question and don't talk about like the setup and if you have a good webcam on your website?
- 45:01SPEAKER_00: Yeah, okay, okay, okay, okay.
- 45:04SPEAKER_03: Okay, quick fire then.
- 45:06SPEAKER_03: Who's winning the uh Dutch league this year?
- 45:09SPEAKER_00: Blumenthal.
- 45:11SPEAKER_03: Oh, are you wrong?
- 45:15SPEAKER_03: He knows that's a lie.
- 45:17SPEAKER_03: Yeah, Blumendale.
- 45:19SPEAKER_03: Um who's winning the English league?
- 45:22SPEAKER_01: Oh geez.
- 45:27SPEAKER_03: Oh geez, um why did all of the GB girls go to Australia?
- 45:33SPEAKER_04: Um they wanted a break.
- 45:35SPEAKER_03: Yeah, money.
- 45:37SPEAKER_03: Probably not money.
- 45:38SPEAKER_03: I think that the I'm guessing that going to the Southern Hemisphere to play in a hockey tournament for for two months in Australia is pretty enticing.
- 45:49SPEAKER_03: But we we can't talk for them.
- 45:51SPEAKER_04: Or play in England where it's pretty dark and miserable for two months.
- 45:56SPEAKER_00: I also I also don't really get the point of asking us this question, as in like we're none of us are female uh British players.
- 46:04SPEAKER_00: Like Brendan's pretty close to it, but like like how should we know?
- 46:11SPEAKER_03: Um also the next one, the next one, the next few are a bit a bit silly, but we'll try them anyway.
- 46:16SPEAKER_03: Hockey fights to be allowed, like in ice hockey, to resolve on-field disputes.
- 46:22SPEAKER_04: No, it's stupid.
- 46:24SPEAKER_04: It's no point.
- 46:24SPEAKER_04: No one's gonna do anything, they're just gonna look at each other, they won't even fight.
- 46:27SPEAKER_04: You've said this before, no one's willing to back it up, it's a waste of time.
- 46:31SPEAKER_03: Yeah, can you also imagine?
- 46:32SPEAKER_03: You know, when ice hockey players like like get their gloves off and it's really easy, it'd take hockey player, it'd be the most pathetic thing ever, a hockey player taking their glove off.
- 46:44SPEAKER_03: Waste of time.
- 46:45SPEAKER_03: Yeah, fair enough.
- 46:46SPEAKER_03: And the next one also, um, I'm not sure what you want.
- 46:49SPEAKER_03: It's R O T Y hockey, hockey salaries and how players make money through stick shoe deals and salaries from national team.
- 46:58SPEAKER_03: Well, I think he's answered his own question.
- 47:03SPEAKER_03: I don't even think yeah, that's a statement.
- 47:07SPEAKER_03: Hockey salaries and how players make money.
- 47:09SPEAKER_03: Well, I'll talk it very personally.
- 47:12SPEAKER_03: You get paid from your sponsor, your club, and your national team, and if you're lucky enough, you get a shoe deal or you do some appearances, or if you you become a model, you know.
- 47:24SPEAKER_03: All of them, all of them.
- 47:26SPEAKER_04: We need to talk about this.
- 47:28SPEAKER_04: You're close to an unfollow you.
- 47:31SPEAKER_00: I don't give a shit if you're following Brendan.
- 47:33SPEAKER_00: Please unfollow me.
- 47:35SPEAKER_04: You do, please unfollow me, Brendan.
- 47:37SPEAKER_04: No, you you actually do care because you know you know you don't want to be that guy.
- 47:41SPEAKER_04: What what what did I do wrong?
- 47:44SPEAKER_04: Stop posting pictures about modeling.
- 47:46SPEAKER_04: You create a separate account.
- 47:48SPEAKER_00: I've posted one picture of me being absolutely gorgeous, and you're hating on it.
- 47:55SPEAKER_03: You did pin it though, as well.
- 47:57SPEAKER_04: Yeah, because it's the one picture I've been absolutely gorgeous in.
- 48:01SPEAKER_04: Have you pinned it?
- 48:02SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 48:03SPEAKER_04: Oh, that is that is not okay.
- 48:05SPEAKER_04: Why can't I pin it?
- 48:07SPEAKER_04: No, that is not.
- 48:08SPEAKER_04: Oh, you oh no.
- 48:10SPEAKER_03: I would if I'm honest, I'm just pinning it.
- 48:12SPEAKER_03: I really like first of all, it shows how Dutch culture is so different to English culture because when you post it, I was like, right, I first of all, my breakdown of it is the first two photos I've really enjoyed, the third photo I really hated.
- 48:27SPEAKER_03: I don't know why, I'll just give you my opinion.
- 48:29SPEAKER_03: But the the second thing is how much love you get for posting something like that.
- 48:33SPEAKER_03: I really enjoy.
- 48:34SPEAKER_03: Like, there's so much like, oh, good for you.
- 48:37SPEAKER_03: Did some modelling.
- 48:38SPEAKER_03: I know for a fact that if anyone in England, in the English team, did a modelling thing and posted it, the the shit they would get would be absolutely unbridled.
- 48:49SPEAKER_02: Because you're a fucking ugly country.
- 48:56SPEAKER_04: That's been episode six of Let's Stick Together.
- 49:00SPEAKER_00: No one is pretty enough to be on the camera.
- 49:03SPEAKER_00: No, uh, you guys are just a bit bigots.
- 49:06SPEAKER_00: That's an English word, right?
- 49:08SPEAKER_00: Very small-minded.
- 49:10SPEAKER_00: You don't appreciate getting out of your comfort zone and do so much on the side.
- 49:15SPEAKER_00: It's to be honest, it's not really modeling.
- 49:18SPEAKER_00: I was just uh it was an interview and I had to take pictures, and I thought, oh, I actually look look quite decent in these pictures.
- 49:23SPEAKER_00: Hold on, you so I was very self-aware.
- 49:25SPEAKER_00: I was shut up, Brent.
- 49:26SPEAKER_00: I was very self-aware.
- 49:28SPEAKER_00: I was very like, should I post this?
- 49:30SPEAKER_00: Should I post it?
- 49:30SPEAKER_00: And then I thought, fuck it, why not?
- 49:32SPEAKER_04: So, my question to you, Yup, is you've not been told to post that, you've actively chosen to post that those pictures of yourself.
- 49:40SPEAKER_00: Again, as I said, I thought I looked pretty and I posted it.
- 49:44SPEAKER_03: I really do back it though, Yup.
- 49:46SPEAKER_03: I kind of wish I I you know I did that.
- 49:49SPEAKER_03: That that'd be cool.
- 49:51SPEAKER_03: Yeah, well, I'm not saying that.
- 49:53SPEAKER_03: Saying that I, you know, I've I've tasted a modeling career.
- 49:57SPEAKER_03: I did some naked modeling a while ago.
- 49:59SPEAKER_03: I did uh yeah, yeah.
- 50:01SPEAKER_01: Who are you to talk?
- 50:03SPEAKER_01: I forgot about that.
- 50:04SPEAKER_01: Who are you to talk?
- 50:06SPEAKER_01: Should we post your cock out?
- 50:09SPEAKER_04: Should we put it to the fans which one they prefer?
- 50:13SPEAKER_00: Wait, I was okay.
- 50:15SPEAKER_00: I'm not gonna defend myself by the way.
- 50:17SPEAKER_00: I thought I looked really, really good.
- 50:19SPEAKER_03: You think I'm not denying that?
- 50:21SPEAKER_03: Brendan only asked a question.
- 50:22SPEAKER_03: You got a bit defensive.
- 50:23SPEAKER_03: You have got very defensive.
- 50:25SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I've got a very defensive.
- 50:26SPEAKER_00: You know how many pictures I see of myself now again in this time of year?
- 50:30SPEAKER_00: Like there was Anna Vein that was taking pictures of our game.
- 50:33SPEAKER_00: How many pictures I look absolutely horrible with with pale skin and ginger hair?
- 50:39SPEAKER_00: And I was like, Oh, I really can't post this.
- 50:42SPEAKER_00: Like, you know how many times I look at myself and think, Jesus Christ, you I actually start to believe I am a ginger.
- 50:49SPEAKER_00: Now, this picture, I was like, you know what, you actually look decent in these, so I put put them out there.
- 50:54SPEAKER_00: But you know, you know what?
- 50:55SPEAKER_00: Next time I'll put another ginger picture of myself on the Instagram again.
- 50:58SPEAKER_04: Happy Brendan.
- 50:59SPEAKER_04: Just black and white photos, mate.
- 51:00SPEAKER_04: They're your best friends when you're gingers, aren't they?
- 51:03SPEAKER_00: With like my my my my mouth guards in and like with with like uh shit drizzling down my and like looking really angry and shit.
- 51:11SPEAKER_00: I'll post those again.
- 51:12SPEAKER_03: I think to be honest with you, none of us have a have a leg to stand on when we're giving you this because Brendan, you've posted horribly vain photos of you on a bike in in lockdown.
- 51:22SPEAKER_03: Um I think I think if we were to do this, yeah, it's it's it's Brendan.
- 51:28SPEAKER_00: It would really be you on your stick.
- 51:30SPEAKER_00: Like, who are you to talk?
- 51:32SPEAKER_04: I think, yeah, we've we've all done our fair shit.
- 51:34SPEAKER_04: All I've said is let's put it to a fan's vote, which one they prefer.
- 51:37SPEAKER_04: That's all I've said.
- 51:39SPEAKER_00: Fair.
- 51:40SPEAKER_00: I'm sorry I got defensive, Brendan.
- 51:42SPEAKER_00: You're absolutely right for giving me shit.
- 51:44SPEAKER_00: Just when you give shit, you also gotta accept the repercussions of it.
- 51:47SPEAKER_03: Hey, and I re and I accept them.
- 51:49SPEAKER_03: So so we've comprehensively answered that question from about hockey salaries.
- 51:54SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 52:00SPEAKER_03: Have you guys got anything to add about hockey salaries?
- 52:03SPEAKER_04: No, you answered the question yourself, Phil.
- 52:06SPEAKER_04: You did a good job.
- 52:07SPEAKER_03: Thanks.
- 52:08SPEAKER_03: Um, Jordan Smith.
- 52:10SPEAKER_03: Again, I don't know why we get asked these questions, but who do you reckon is behind the England hockey memes account?
- 52:16SPEAKER_03: Twitter account.
- 52:17SPEAKER_00: No, no, you can't.
- 52:19SPEAKER_03: You'd love that account.
- 52:20SPEAKER_03: It's a really good one.
- 52:21SPEAKER_00: I'll send it you afterwards.
- 52:23SPEAKER_00: Okay, sending.
- 52:24SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 52:25SPEAKER_04: Uh I genuinely don't know.
- 52:27SPEAKER_04: I can't work it out at all.
- 52:29SPEAKER_04: It's someone who has a deep hatred for England hockey though.
- 52:32SPEAKER_03: George Pinner, but but I don't think he's clever enough to do that account, so we'll go with George Pinner.
- 52:38SPEAKER_03: Um, last last two questions.
- 52:40SPEAKER_03: Um, why one uh one of the Y1 Black Friday 6 Project Blanc 2?
- 52:45SPEAKER_03: Is it too much bow and concaveness?
- 52:49SPEAKER_03: Now I haven't seen this stick, and I don't think the other two have, but if Tom Carson had anything to do with designing it, I'm gonna go with yes.
- 52:58SPEAKER_04: Okay, yeah, you congrats on your new contract signing.
- 53:04SPEAKER_00: It was it was no, it was it was 99% based around this about the podcast.
- 53:09SPEAKER_00: I really wanted to leave, uh, but I thought I can't leave you two, so that's why I stayed.
- 53:15SPEAKER_03: Sorry.
- 53:16SPEAKER_03: Again, some context is that you just signed a new deal with Y1.
- 53:20SPEAKER_03: He did it very professionally, more professionally than than anyone's ever done it.
- 53:23SPEAKER_03: It looks it looks looks really nice.
- 53:25SPEAKER_03: Um, don't know why you've got to be so sassy about that though.
- 53:28SPEAKER_03: You just just happy to sign, happy to sign.
- 53:32SPEAKER_00: How is that sassy?
- 53:33SPEAKER_00: I just got I just said I'm signing because of you two.
- 53:36SPEAKER_00: How is that sassy?
- 53:37SPEAKER_00: Signing for the cash, signing for the cash of the great support Y1 has given me of the last couple of years.
- 53:44SPEAKER_00: What an amazing brand.
- 53:45SPEAKER_00: I love Chris.
- 53:46SPEAKER_00: 6,000 support, yeah.
- 53:47SPEAKER_00: Nice six thousand.
- 53:50SPEAKER_00: You think oh, you have so much to learn about it.
- 53:53SPEAKER_04: I wasn't even close to that number.
- 53:57SPEAKER_01: You think oh, so cute.
- 54:00SPEAKER_03: Um, no, but he's an Olympic gold medalist and he's a five player in the world, and a model.
- 54:07SPEAKER_03: He's worth more than six.
- 54:09SPEAKER_00: I'm really, really appreciative of Y1.
- 54:11SPEAKER_00: Um, and that's why I signed for another four years.
- 54:13SPEAKER_00: I love him.
- 54:13SPEAKER_00: Two free stuff's also a part of Y1, Antoine Kina.
- 54:18SPEAKER_00: Yeah, saw him play with a Y1 stick, or he lost his stick and borrowed someone else's could also very well be, but I saw him play with a Y1 stick, so that was kind of cool to see.
- 54:27SPEAKER_03: Nice.
- 54:28SPEAKER_03: I mean, there is more and more top quality players knocking about in Europe with Y1, so it's not it's very nice to see.
- 54:34SPEAKER_03: Um, and last question.
- 54:36SPEAKER_03: Um mistakes you made as less experienced players in training or mentality?
- 54:45SPEAKER_03: Again, I can answer for Brendan if you want.
- 54:49SPEAKER_03: No, I don't know the question.
- 54:50SPEAKER_03: I don't understand the question.
- 54:51SPEAKER_03: What's the question?
- 54:53SPEAKER_03: Um, what mistakes did you make when you were less experienced?
- 54:56SPEAKER_03: Uh either in training or like your mentality going into games, I'm guessing.
- 55:04SPEAKER_04: Um you get scared after miss chucking two aerials.
- 55:10SPEAKER_00: Yeah, still I'm still I still get like in uh uh insecure about my aerial when I when I miss two in a row.
- 55:16SPEAKER_00: Uh but yeah, who wouldn't?
- 55:18SPEAKER_00: Um agreed.
- 55:20SPEAKER_00: I always uh um when I was younger, I always thought things would come by themselves.
- 55:28SPEAKER_00: And then I learned in after a couple years you actually have to work for shit to happen.
- 55:33SPEAKER_03: I I yeah, I I learned that you were trying to I was trying to be uh someone else rather than focusing on myself, like trying to be the player that I thought people wanted me to be rather than uh just being me.
- 55:47SPEAKER_03: So I tried to be more myself.
- 55:49SPEAKER_01: That's that's what Brendan also thought.
- 55:51SPEAKER_01: That's why he put it on the stick, right?
- 55:55SPEAKER_04: I kept getting confused.
- 55:58SPEAKER_04: Um not your roper, you're not.
- 56:01SPEAKER_04: Mine was that I probably worried so much about doing it right that I for didn't focus on the next job, and that probably impacted a lot of what I did.
- 56:10SPEAKER_04: So I would used to get really down even if I played well.
- 56:13SPEAKER_03: Nice.
- 56:13SPEAKER_03: I mean, I mean this was I think absolute classical let's stick together, all in one go.
- 56:20SPEAKER_03: We've had an episode of seriousness turned into absolute carnage, and I've I've I've thoroughly enjoyed myself.
- 56:26SPEAKER_03: Um we we don't have time for the coop.
- 56:29SPEAKER_03: Um Brendan's a busy man, we've tracked him down.
- 56:32SPEAKER_03: You're not happy.
- 56:33SPEAKER_03: Do you want do you want to do a quick coop you?
- 56:35SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I could do a really quick one.
- 56:38SPEAKER_00: If you could if you could ask um if you could ask one question to any hockey player of your choosing, and he has to be truthful, uh he has to answer truthfully, what would you ask to which player?
- 56:58SPEAKER_04: And ask Tom Craig, was it worth it?
- 57:03SPEAKER_03: Jesus.
- 57:09SPEAKER_00: Um I would um I would ask I would ask I would I would ask uh uh uh Haman Priet uh how he feels about the hooky star awards.
- 57:28SPEAKER_00: Like what is it for the what is it like for the Indian players, uh and especially Haman Priet who like really really honestly deserved it this year to still feel even though he deserved it, people feel it's undeservedly.
- 57:43SPEAKER_00: So I'll be asked that.
- 57:46SPEAKER_04: I'd ask, I'd actually change mind.
- 57:48SPEAKER_04: I want to ask the FIH president what his actual plan is for getting the sport more mainstream.
- 57:56SPEAKER_04: Like what is he actually what is the action plan to actually make the game more visible to everyone and kind of push it towards where netball, rugby, that those kind of sports are.
- 58:08SPEAKER_00: Yeah, for the for the for everyone for everyone listening, like the FIH president is a really good hockey player as well.
- 58:13SPEAKER_00: So that's why Brandon is allowed to ask that hockey player one question he has to answer.
- 58:18SPEAKER_04: Have you not seen him play?
- 58:19SPEAKER_04: He's a wizard.
- 58:23SPEAKER_04: Fine, I'll go with my original question.
- 58:27SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I would also ask Donald Trump what his statements were like regarding politics.
- 58:33SPEAKER_00: Uh, he also played hockey on the weekend, so yeah.
- 58:38SPEAKER_03: Just ask all Australians what their problem is.
- 58:45SPEAKER_00: We really need Simon Orchard on his podcast, so you can ask him.
- 58:49SPEAKER_00: I think it's just something deep, deep down that that that they don't like, you you fellas there.
- 58:55SPEAKER_03: Yeah, you I was just desperately trying to do that.
- 58:57SPEAKER_00: I think a little bit you guys are a little bit vain over there in England.
- 59:00SPEAKER_00: Coming from a Dutch guy says a lot, I know.
- 59:03SPEAKER_00: Like you organize your own your own little tournament, your own little Olympics with all your friends.
- 59:07SPEAKER_00: Like it's it's but they're part of that.
- 59:10SPEAKER_03: They're invited, and they beat us.
- 59:11SPEAKER_00: I know they're invited, but you're the one organizing it, they just don't want to be rude by not coming.
- 59:16SPEAKER_00: That's what she said.
- 59:22SPEAKER_03: Right, we yeah, we've got we we tried to make this episode short and we failed fantastically.
- 59:28SPEAKER_03: Well, thoroughly enjoyed uh enjoyable episode.
- 59:32SPEAKER_03: I'm glad we've been able to get back into a to a chat together.
- 59:37SPEAKER_03: Um and Brendan, um probation starts now.
- 59:41SPEAKER_03: Um you, I guess, is gonna be judging whether you stay or go.
- 59:46SPEAKER_00: Um no, he'll stay.
- 59:47SPEAKER_00: I'm I'm I'm I'm on I'm on your side, Brendan.
- 59:50SPEAKER_00: I really want you to stay.
- 59:51SPEAKER_00: It's not in my hands, but I really want you to stay.
- 59:55SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I'm just gonna puppet master my way at you out of this pro podcast.
- 1:00:00SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 1:00:01SPEAKER_03: Okay, we've been let's stick together.
- 1:00:03SPEAKER_03: We'll see you next time.
- 1:00:05SPEAKER_03: And good luck in your games, you score some goals.
- 1:00:08SPEAKER_00: Thank you, Philip.
- 1:00:10SPEAKER_00: Hi, everyone.
