- 0:00SPEAKER_00: Oh my god, this hasn't happened in 25 years and I'm so stinking excited for this.
- 0:04SPEAKER_00: Do you remember when you would travel somewhere and you might have been gone for a longer period of time or it's a loved one and you wanted to see them at the gate and and and you'd hold up a sign that would say like, Welcome home, Tiffany.
- 0:17SPEAKER_01: It's well before 9-11 that this happened.
- 0:20SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 0:20SPEAKER_00: It ended at 9-11.
- 0:22SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 0:22SPEAKER_00: They're bringing it back.
- 0:23SPEAKER_01: Really?
- 0:24SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: I'm so excited for this because I remember vividly, I was in France for two weeks, and I was by myself.
- 0:31SPEAKER_00: I was visiting a foreign exchange student over in France.
- 0:34SPEAKER_00: We had a French foreign exchange student in our school named Cecilia.
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: Cecilia.
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: Cecilia Bissant.
- 0:39SPEAKER_00: And Cecilia and I became really good friends.
- 0:41SPEAKER_00: And then she went back home, of course.
- 0:43SPEAKER_00: So I went to visit her.
- 0:45SPEAKER_00: And I was there for two weeks.
- 0:46SPEAKER_00: When I came home, I was a little bit homesick, of course.
- 0:49SPEAKER_00: Like I just tend to get that way.
- 0:51SPEAKER_00: But um, so when I came home.
- 0:53SPEAKER_00: Really?
- 0:53SPEAKER_01: You travel enough that you actually get homesick?
- 0:56SPEAKER_00: I mean, I get home, I get so homesick for Cleveland.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: It's a very weird thing.
- 1:00SPEAKER_00: I will get this like just the little sads, you know.
- 1:03SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, I miss my mom and I miss my best friend.
- 1:06SPEAKER_00: So anyway, I get home from France and I'm coming.
- 1:10SPEAKER_00: I didn't know who was meeting me at the airport, but I knew this probably one of my parents was gonna pick me up.
- 1:15SPEAKER_00: But here it was.
- 1:16SPEAKER_00: It was my mom, my best friend Timmy, one of my girlfriends.
- 1:20SPEAKER_00: Oh, that's cool.
- 1:21SPEAKER_00: And they're all holding signs, and they're right there.
- 1:23SPEAKER_01: I remember doing this as a little kid when my dad would take some business trips.
- 1:27SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 1:27SPEAKER_01: Uh, and my mom and I would wait at the gate.
- 1:30SPEAKER_01: And you're right, uh in in 2001, it ended, obviously.
- 1:34SPEAKER_00: Right, and you can't do it now, really, because you have to pick them up in a car right where you're where you'd pick up and drop off.
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: And it's like, get in the car, get in the car, right?
- 1:42SPEAKER_01: Move it!
- 1:43SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 1:43SPEAKER_00: So this is kind of a nice thing that's returning.
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: But here's how it works.
- 1:46SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:47SPEAKER_00: If you're gonna do it, you have to be.
- 1:48SPEAKER_00: Have you ever heard of the TSA pre-check?
- 1:51SPEAKER_01: I've heard of it.
- 1:52SPEAKER_01: I don't I don't travel enough via air to have it.
- 1:54SPEAKER_00: Well, it's uh, you know, it's a little bit of extra cost.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: It's something where you can online be like, Yes, I am not a terrorist.
- 2:02SPEAKER_01: Oh, okay.
- 2:03SPEAKER_00: As an exclusive benefit for TSA pre-checkers, you can have somebody come to the gate and be like, We miss you so much.
- 2:13SPEAKER_00: I mean, if it's not that much of a hassle, it might be worth it.
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and they say it's an exclusive benefit for the most trusted travelers.
- 2:20SPEAKER_01: The most trusted.
- 2:21SPEAKER_00: And it's easier for welcome send-offs, meeting friends during a layover, enjoining dining and shopping along the way.
- 2:29SPEAKER_00: If you have a friend who's in that city, because that was the other thing.
- 2:32SPEAKER_00: I couldn't come out, you couldn't come in.
- 2:34SPEAKER_00: So here I'm just lonely alley, sitting in chilies and standing on an escalator.
- 2:41SPEAKER_00: The sucky part is when you have a layover and you have a friend in that city, you're like, I'm so close.
- 2:46SPEAKER_01: Yes, get over here.
- 2:47SPEAKER_01: But you can't get in.
- 2:48SPEAKER_01: No.
- 2:48SPEAKER_00: I if I travel that much, which I kind of do, then I feel like the TSA pre-check is totally worth it.
- 2:54SPEAKER_01: Okay, well, there you go.
- 2:55SPEAKER_01: That's one way to do it.
- 2:56SPEAKER_00: How cool is that that it's coming back.
- 2:58SPEAKER_00: I wish it would come back for all.
- 2:59SPEAKER_00: I don't see that ever happening.
- 3:00SPEAKER_01: I don't think that'll happen.
- 3:01SPEAKER_01: Because you know what?
- 3:02SPEAKER_01: We've learned some lessons over the uh decades.
- 3:05SPEAKER_00: Oh, and they want your money.
- 3:06SPEAKER_00: That's all it's too, yes.
- 3:07SPEAKER_00: That's all it really comes down to because we we booked the other day, and I'm like, oh my gosh.
- 3:12SPEAKER_00: They Nickel and Dime you.
- 3:14SPEAKER_00: Oh, did you want this seat?
- 3:16SPEAKER_00: Sixty seven dollars.
- 3:17SPEAKER_00: This one's eighty nine.
- 3:18SPEAKER_00: Oh, these bags, that's another ninety eight dollars.
- 3:21SPEAKER_01: How much for the wing?
- 3:23SPEAKER_00: Right.
