- 0:01Speaker 1: And I can't hold it much longer.
- 0:03Speaker 2: Gonna let go so I can be free.
- 0:05Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Oh, oh, yeah.
- 0:06Speaker 4: Yeah. Let me free.
- 0:11Speaker 2: Let me free. Let me free. Let me free.
- 0:17Speaker 5: Let me free.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Let me free. Let me free. Let me free.
- 0:24Speaker 4: Oh, oh, yeah.
- 0:24Speaker 3: If you just say what you want. Johnson and loving
- 0:28Speaker 3: life right now. William Contreras getting the MVP chance. Do
- 0:32Speaker 3: you get chills seeing that, Kratz? I mean, I'm sure
- 0:35Speaker 3: Todd Father does too, but he played for the organization.
- 0:38Speaker 3: Just seeing how Milwaukee is finally getting their moment.
- 0:41Speaker 1: I love fan interaction. Any kind of fan interaction like this,
- 0:45Speaker 1: I'm getting pictures from a couple people that work for
- 0:50Speaker 1: the team, and they're sending me pictures of their spot
- 0:53Speaker 1: on the parade. It is... Some of the pictures are, like, crazy.
- 0:57Speaker 1: Any kind of parade, people are so packed in there,
- 1:00Speaker 1: so juiced. I love it for the fans.
- 1:05Speaker 4: And you saw the videos. These type of videos are
- 1:08Speaker 4: even cooler.
- 1:09Speaker 5: But, you know, you see the videos of the old
- 1:11Speaker 5: man in the house screaming his head off, crying.
- 1:13Speaker 4: I've been waiting all my life for this.
- 1:15Speaker 5: And, like, some of the cool things that are happening
- 1:18Speaker 5: in Milwaukee and that area.
- 1:21Speaker 4: It's their first one, man. I mean, you've got to
- 1:23Speaker 4: live this thing up. But, yes.
- 1:25Speaker 5: Celebrate it as long as you can here it was
- 1:28Speaker 5: really cool really magical they they were the best team
- 1:30Speaker 5: in baseball and you know maybe they might go on
- 1:34Speaker 5: a little run here moving forward these next couple years
- 1:36Speaker 5: hopefully we play.
- 1:38Speaker 3: Yeah that'd be nice hopefully we play and and can
- 1:41Speaker 3: they build a dynasty right they i think for a
- 1:44Speaker 3: dynasty you get the postseason appearances together and then you
- 1:48Speaker 3: got to win two or three they've got the postseason
- 1:51Speaker 3: appearances they've been doing that already for a while sure.
- 1:54Speaker 1: Wait, wait, wait. So the Braves weren't a dynasty then, Scott?
- 1:57Speaker 1: Tell me. Back in the late 90s.
- 2:00Speaker 4: Early 2000s?
- 2:01Speaker 3: They had the postseason appearances. They had a title. Were
- 2:04Speaker 3: they a dynasty? It's a good debate, but I think
- 2:07Speaker 3: many people would say no.
- 2:09Speaker 4: What? I would say a title. I think a dynasty
- 2:13Speaker 4: is more winning a championship, in my opinion.
- 2:17Speaker 1: Ooh.
- 2:18Speaker 4: I think.
- 2:19Speaker 5: he won championships with Michael Jordan's teams. They were dynasties
- 2:23Speaker 5: because he won three in a row. And then, or
- 2:26Speaker 5: I don't, it might've, was it three in a row?
- 2:28Speaker 5: I don't know what it, but he won three and
- 2:29Speaker 5: then he came back and then won three more. So yeah,
- 2:32Speaker 5: I think they were all in a row and three,
- 2:35Speaker 5: you win a couple and now we're talking.
- 2:36Speaker 4: So we'll see.
- 2:37Speaker 5: And that's debatable, but nothing to argue about. I think,
- 2:40Speaker 5: I think, I think championships make dynasty.
- 2:44Speaker 3: Well, they're having their moment and let's talk more about
- 2:48Speaker 3: them actually right now. It's a full count. Let's do it.
- 2:57Speaker 3: Full count is fueled by marathon. Let's get into the
- 3:00Speaker 3: Brewers and what's happening now. Also, I want to start
- 3:04Speaker 3: with Contreras. Kratz, we've talked plenty about him, but we
- 3:08Speaker 3: didn't take a ton of time to talk about him
- 3:10Speaker 3: on yesterday's show, the first show after the World Series title.
- 3:13Speaker 3: So he wins World Series MVP. It is transaction time too,
- 3:17Speaker 3: so SpotTrack pointing out. He gets 50K as a World
- 3:20Speaker 3: Series MVP bonus. So he made $ 9. 5 million. Next year,
- 3:24Speaker 3: he's going to make $ 15. 5 million. That's a team option
- 3:28Speaker 3: that will get picked up for his age 28 season.
- 3:32Speaker 3: And he would also be eligible for arbitration if declined.
- 3:35Speaker 3: But I don't think they're going to decline that. And
- 3:39Speaker 3: they have him valued at six years 86 mil if
- 3:44Speaker 3: he put out a market extension. I think that he
- 3:47Speaker 3: would probably turn that down. He's going to be a
- 3:51Speaker 3: free agent after next season. We did spend a little
- 3:54Speaker 3: bit of time on this yesterday, but Kratz, if you
- 3:57Speaker 3: could lock him up and I'm assuming you want to,
- 4:01Speaker 3: what would you throw his way? Maybe catch him right
- 4:03Speaker 3: after this parade and just a quickie phone call. Like, Hey, no,
- 4:06Speaker 3: we got you on the hook for 15 and a half.
- 4:08Speaker 3: Can I interest you in 92?
- 4:09Speaker 1: I know. I know I'm low balling you. But I
- 4:16Speaker 1: think there's some question about his game calling, his continued growth.
- 4:29Speaker 1: Is he going to continue to grow behind the dish?
- 4:32Speaker 1: And if you look offensively, where he's at, is his
- 4:36Speaker 1: production worth the Brewers forking out 18 to 20 a
- 4:42Speaker 1: year for him? Let's just. Just a question. I mean,
- 4:47Speaker 1: the countercatcher on the other team, the Rays catcher, Liam Hicks,
- 4:52Speaker 1: had a better offensive season, better war, a lot of things.
- 4:58Speaker 1: And people don't hear as much about Liam Hicks as
- 5:01Speaker 1: you do about William Contreras. Do you pay him for
- 5:06Speaker 1: his above-average offense that he just put forth this year,
- 5:10Speaker 1: or are you blinded by the postseason?
- 5:13Speaker 3: Yeah, those numbers on the right look pretty good too.
- 5:15Speaker 3: Those are some stat cast numbers. A lot of good
- 5:17Speaker 3: red on the right side there of the profile page, Toddfather. Also,
- 5:22Speaker 3: I mean, don't be afraid to go back at your
- 5:24Speaker 3: boy Kratz. It's a Friday. If you're repping the William
- 5:28Speaker 3: Contreras side and Kratz said, you know, still long-term questions,
- 5:31Speaker 3: are you going to be an elite game caller and
- 5:33Speaker 3: all that? What would your response be after what you
- 5:35Speaker 3: just did?
- 5:36Speaker 5: I mean, I think right now we're all excited and
- 5:41Speaker 5: you know, this is the next thing coming.
- 5:42Speaker 4: We'll do this every year. Let's go.
- 5:45Speaker 5: Now, wait till it just dies down a little bit.
- 5:47Speaker 5: I would have to agree with Kratzy a little bit
- 5:49Speaker 5: here just because of the fact of, yeah, this is exciting.
- 5:53Speaker 5: You guys did it. It was unbelievable. I think he
- 5:57Speaker 5: is a really good player. But yeah, I would like
- 5:59Speaker 5: to see him. I think this is the six years, 86,
- 6:02Speaker 5: I think that's in the right vicinity, 80 to 90.
- 6:05Speaker 5: I think that's a really good Good for him. I
- 6:11Speaker 5: think he goes back. I think I would take that
- 6:13Speaker 5: in a heartbeat. He had an exceptional playoff. Let's see
- 6:18Speaker 5: what he does as he moves forward. But if there
- 6:20Speaker 5: was an opportunity to move forward and get a couple
- 6:23Speaker 5: more years like this, I don't think he should hesitate.
- 6:26Speaker 4: I think he should jump on it.
- 6:30Speaker 3: And he might feel differently now after experiencing everything he did.
- 6:33Speaker 3: And there are some guys that want to stay and
- 6:35Speaker 3: start to evaluate what you'd get on a free agent market,
- 6:37Speaker 3: what you'd get after a lockout. This might be a
- 6:39Speaker 3: good time. We haven't really talked about this. Nothing is guaranteed.
- 6:43Speaker 3: And Todd father, we talked a lot about how free
- 6:48Speaker 3: agents are going to try and get signed. Both sides
- 6:50Speaker 3: are going to try to get free agents signed over
- 6:52Speaker 3: the next month. What about extensions? Extensions could be a
- 6:55Speaker 3: thing over the next few weeks. I don't think there'll
- 6:57Speaker 3: be a ton, but there could be some extension offers.
- 6:59Speaker 3: Like if I'm a team, I think you have a
- 7:02Speaker 3: little bit of leverage right now on an extension to say, Hey,
- 7:04Speaker 3: we don't know what the other side's going to look like.
- 7:07Speaker 3: So do you want to try and lock in a
- 7:09Speaker 3: bunch of money right now? Long term.
- 7:11Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 7:12Speaker 4: Could happen. Yeah.
- 7:17Speaker 3: Kratz, you don't think that's a thing?
- 7:19Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't know. I've been back and
- 7:20Speaker 1: forth on this because some people were saying when the
- 7:24Speaker 1: Brewers and I forget who else gave the extension or
- 7:29Speaker 1: gave some extensions. It was all right around the same time.
- 7:30Speaker 1: They're like, are these going to be easily grandfathered into
- 7:34Speaker 1: a new CBA? Is there going to be changes in
- 7:37Speaker 1: how they do things? So, I don't know. I don't
- 7:43Speaker 1: think anything changed. I don't think we're making drastic changes
- 7:46Speaker 1: with how we're offering guys money. You're either going to
- 7:48Speaker 1: offer them at this time four years ago or you're
- 7:50Speaker 1: going to offer them at this time this year if
- 7:52Speaker 1: they're in the same category.
- 7:55Speaker 3: You're talking about the time period where the Brewers did
- 7:59Speaker 3: a few like Pratt and Lara. The Tigers got McGonigal
- 8:06Speaker 3: done early in the year. Connor Griffin got done with
- 8:09Speaker 3: the pirates.
- 8:10Speaker 4: Right.
- 8:11Speaker 1: But I think they're all different, but I think they're
- 8:13Speaker 1: all different. I think Connor, Connor Griffin almost added them
- 8:18Speaker 1: both together. He wanted to make the team. Like it
- 8:21Speaker 1: was clearly a accept this, make the team. He said, no,
- 8:24Speaker 1: went to the bushes. They offered him more McGonigal felt like, Hey,
- 8:30Speaker 1: I'm on the team. This is going to be a
- 8:32Speaker 1: sick extension. Like, That kind of stuff, it's all different.
- 8:36Speaker 1: I don't think the CBA or anything like that changes
- 8:38Speaker 1: that right now.
- 8:40Speaker 3: J.J., Weatherholt was another one too.
- 8:42Speaker 1: There, thank you. I knew there was somebody else.
- 8:45Speaker 3: Yeah, but there's two different extensions too. The ones that
- 8:48Speaker 3: I'm bringing up right now are the guys that are
- 8:51Speaker 3: either not in the big leagues at the time or
- 8:52Speaker 3: barely sniffing the big leagues. And then we started this
- 8:55Speaker 3: conversation with William Contreras, who's a year away from free agency.
- 9:00Speaker 3: I will say this, one other thing to consider. This
- 9:02Speaker 3: goes against my other point. Usually after a lockout, teams
- 9:07Speaker 3: feel good again. There is a honeymoon phase usually after
- 9:11Speaker 3: the lockout for an offseason where they're like, cool, everything's
- 9:15Speaker 3: going to stay the same in terms of the rules
- 9:17Speaker 3: for a little bit. So I feel more comfortable forking
- 9:19Speaker 3: out cash. That is also something to consider. There's a
- 9:22Speaker 3: lot there. I want to keep moving on some other
- 9:24Speaker 3: business components of finance. what the Brewers are doing and
- 9:28Speaker 3: how it's impacting the rest of baseball. So you see
- 9:31Speaker 3: a number of articles and episodes of shows talking about
- 9:36Speaker 3: the Brewers' blueprint. And you see many of them even
- 9:40Speaker 3: on the FT Network. There are other team shows that
- 9:42Speaker 3: we have that are like, hey, how come this team
- 9:45Speaker 3: can't be the Brewers? Well, there will definitely be an
- 9:48Speaker 3: episode at some point with the Twins talking about this.
- 9:50Speaker 3: And Aaron Gleeman writes about the Twins. And he said,
- 9:54Speaker 3: like every small market team, the twins want to copy
- 9:57Speaker 3: the Brewers and the Rays because of their success with
- 9:59Speaker 3: low payrolls, but emulating the brewers and rays requires a
- 10:04Speaker 3: different type of investment behind the scenes. And he talked
- 10:07Speaker 3: about how the twins fall short in that category. You know, he,
- 10:12Speaker 3: Mentioned something that we've brought up here, but the Rays
- 10:14Speaker 3: leading with 50 analytics department staffers. The Brewers are tied
- 10:17Speaker 3: for ninth with 32. I've talked about the international staff
- 10:21Speaker 3: being the biggest for the Brewers. And he said the
- 10:23Speaker 3: Twins are tied at 16 with 24 on the analytics
- 10:29Speaker 3: side in their analytics department. And then he went over
- 10:33Speaker 3: the scouting side and he said Baseball America estimates the
- 10:36Speaker 3: Rays are five with 84 scouts. Brewers tied for 10th,
- 10:40Speaker 3: 78 scouts. And then he mentioned the Twins. Dead last,
- 10:47Speaker 3: 39 scouts after shrinking the department this year.
- 10:51Speaker 4: Oops.
- 10:53Speaker 3: You're going the wrong way. You're trying to be like them. Oops.
- 10:59Speaker 1: I don't think you can sit here and go, okay, well,
- 11:02Speaker 1: we have this many scouts, so here's where we're going to, like,
- 11:06Speaker 1: you can't be last. You don't need to be first.
- 11:10Speaker 1: You got to be right in the middle there somewhere.
- 11:12Speaker 1: And let's try to stop emulating the Rays. Let's just
- 11:16Speaker 1: try to pull pieces that are good from what they do.
- 11:21Speaker 1: And you can emulate the Brewers. You know why? The difference? Todd,
- 11:24Speaker 1: the Brewers won a World Series.
- 11:26Speaker 4: The Rays did not. Spot on. That's it. That's it.
- 11:31Speaker 5: And they were the best team overall on every aspect
- 11:36Speaker 5: of what they did.
- 11:38Speaker 4: And that's just the God's honest truth.
- 11:42Speaker 3: Yeah, I think it's an important point by Kratz. Copy
- 11:44Speaker 3: a winner. The Rays have had good success. They haven't
- 11:47Speaker 3: won a title. And they've come close. I want a winner.
- 11:50Speaker 3: So I think the Brewers will be receiving a lot
- 11:53Speaker 3: of copycatting. And Kratz, I'm with you on that.
- 11:55Speaker 1: If they want a winner, though. That's what you said, Scott.
- 11:58Speaker 1: I want a winner. If they want a winner. Or
- 12:00Speaker 1: do they just want to have success with low payroll?
- 12:04Speaker 1: That's the difference. Ask yourself that honest question. Oh, well,
- 12:07Speaker 1: why can't we do that as the Reds? Why can't
- 12:09Speaker 1: we do that as the Twins? Do you want a winner?
- 12:11Speaker 1: Or do you want to just save money and have
- 12:16Speaker 1: some success?
- 12:18Speaker 3: And also playing to what you said, I'm completely on board.
- 12:21Speaker 3: Do you need the most people behind the scenes in
- 12:24Speaker 3: every department? No, but you can't be last. Last is
- 12:28Speaker 3: a death sentence these days. I firmly agree with that point. Okay,
- 12:33Speaker 3: next up. on the business side, Zach Scott, former GM
- 12:37Speaker 3: and front office exec, uh, responded to Travis Sawcheck talking
- 12:41Speaker 3: about how the brewers, you know, built systems culture over
- 12:44Speaker 3: time to sustain front office, coaching personnel losses, talking about
- 12:49Speaker 3: how poaching happens. And we went over a couple of
- 12:51Speaker 3: poaching situations yesterday. The Astros looking at a brewers exec
- 12:55Speaker 3: and a brewers, what was it? Scouting guy went to
- 12:58Speaker 3: the white socks. So Zach Scott said, Hiring by brand
- 13:02Speaker 3: has a very mixed track record. It's funny to see
- 13:04Speaker 3: people get excited when their team hires someone from certain
- 13:06Speaker 3: clubs as if they don't know anything about them. It's
- 13:09Speaker 3: so much more complex than that. And I'll remind people
- 13:11Speaker 3: that several people who get these jobs are endorsed by
- 13:13Speaker 3: their current bosses because those bosses want them out. It's
- 13:18Speaker 3: a cutthroat business. Wow. Hey, you should take this guy.
- 13:25Speaker 3: And then they get off the phone and they go, dot, dot, dot,
- 13:28Speaker 3: because he sucks.
- 13:30Speaker 4: Do you think that's happening a lot? Well, listen, that's, that's,
- 13:34Speaker 4: that's risky there, man. That's tough.
- 13:37Speaker 1: No, I'm not, I'm not on this. I'm sorry, Zach.
- 13:40Speaker 1: I think you have the wrong view of how being
- 13:44Speaker 1: a leader is like you want. I'm, I'm a coach
- 13:47Speaker 1: and this is the only, this is the only example
- 13:50Speaker 1: I have. I'm a head coach of a baseball team.
- 13:53Speaker 1: I hope every one of my assistants pushes me to say,
- 13:58Speaker 1: I'm taking your job. I mean, that's, Isn't that the
- 14:00Speaker 1: culture you create as the boss of something? Because that
- 14:04Speaker 1: person's pushing you to be better. And so the idea
- 14:08Speaker 1: that like, ooh, I got to get rid of my
- 14:10Speaker 1: assistant GM. So I'm going to get him that job
- 14:13Speaker 1: over with another team so that he doesn't take my job. Bro,
- 14:17Speaker 1: you want somebody to take your job. Come and get me. Like,
- 14:20Speaker 1: come and get my job. You know why? Because we're
- 14:22Speaker 1: working together and we're going to be the best freaking
- 14:25Speaker 1: group that we can be. And if you're like, if
- 14:28Speaker 1: there's somebody that's like, I got to make sure I
- 14:30Speaker 1: cut this guy. He's getting too close. Ah, you're looking
- 14:34Speaker 1: at the wrong things. So I don't agree with this
- 14:37Speaker 1: at all.
- 14:41Speaker 4: It's interesting. It's very interesting. I don't want any piece
- 14:44Speaker 4: of that.
- 14:45Speaker 3: If you win, you're not. I mean, like if you're
- 14:48Speaker 3: leading a front office and you're worried about people below you,
- 14:50Speaker 3: then you're a loser because you're not winning. If you're winning,
- 14:54Speaker 3: you're going to be there. Unless you're James Click with
- 14:56Speaker 3: the Astros. That's an outlier, right? Because he won and
- 14:59Speaker 3: he still got booted. Anybody else, if they win, they
- 15:02Speaker 3: ain't going anywhere. They're not going anywhere. Am I right?
- 15:05Speaker 3: Do we ever see? I mean, again, after a season
- 15:08Speaker 3: or two, things can change.
- 15:09Speaker 5: Right.
- 15:10Speaker 3: Like Dombrowski got booted by the Red Sox, what, a
- 15:13Speaker 3: year or two after? We see those. But my point is,
- 15:15Speaker 3: I mean, if you've got a consistent winner, like if
- 15:17Speaker 3: you're the Brewers, you're Matt Arnold, you're not worried about
- 15:21Speaker 3: who's below you. You're worried about who's around you so
- 15:23Speaker 3: that they're really talented and you can continue to win
- 15:25Speaker 3: front office executive of the year awards, make the playoffs
- 15:28Speaker 3: every year, and then get a World Series title.
- 15:30Speaker 1: It's not about you. If you're in that position and
- 15:33Speaker 1: it's about you, you're not going to do as well
- 15:35Speaker 1: as you could. I'm not saying you can't do well.
- 15:37Speaker 1: I'm saying you're just not going to do as well
- 15:39Speaker 1: as you could.
- 15:41Speaker 3: Yeah. And then we'll get to the other part later.
- 15:46Speaker 3: So on the way out of this segment, which had
- 15:48Speaker 3: a lot of brewers in it, Kratz, I mean, I
- 15:51Speaker 3: think you should show off what you're wearing. We haven't
- 15:53Speaker 3: even talked.
- 15:53Speaker 4: About it yet. Yeah, I was wondering.
- 15:55Speaker 1: I thought we were wearing suit jackets today. No, it's
- 15:59Speaker 1: my Uke jacket. Like, you're celebrating Uke. I didn't have
- 16:02Speaker 1: anything to dress up for for Halloween, but this is
- 16:05Speaker 1: the jacket that they gave us when we had Uke
- 16:08Speaker 1: road trip where we all dressed up in Uke type
- 16:13Speaker 1: of suit jackets. So might as well wear it today
- 16:16Speaker 1: when they're in their parade.
- 16:20Speaker 4: Tasteful.
- 16:20Speaker 3: Well done. Love it, Kratz. I love the outfit today.
- 16:23Speaker 3: And I wanted to make sure the podcast crowd heard
- 16:25Speaker 3: it early on. Okay. Full count is fueled by Marathon,
- 16:28Speaker 3: where fun runs on full. Save up to $ 1 a
- 16:31Speaker 3: gallon with Marathon rewards. Hey, can we show both of these?
- 16:35Speaker 3: So this one first and then the one that we
- 16:37Speaker 3: didn't get to in the last segment, too, because I
- 16:39Speaker 3: think they play off each other. So Richard Deitch, who
- 16:42Speaker 3: is a media reporter. posted the world series viewership numbers,
- 16:46Speaker 3: but I'll round here. If it's 0.5, I go up.
- 16:49Speaker 3: If it's 0.4, I go down.
- 16:50Speaker 4: Okay.
- 16:50Speaker 3: Game one, 12 mil game to 11 mil game three,
- 16:54Speaker 3: eight mil game for 13 mil game five, 14 mil
- 16:59Speaker 3: projected with that number there. And then here's somebody who
- 17:05Speaker 3: works in media. Lena is the name posted.
- 17:08Speaker 4: Sorry.
- 17:09Speaker 3: I didn't do my homework on who this person is exactly,
- 17:11Speaker 3: but I saw that this tweet got a lot of action,
- 17:14Speaker 3: 500K views about. She said, as someone who works in
- 17:16Speaker 3: the media, this to me is the wildest step of
- 17:18Speaker 3: the World Series so far. Rays fans are peeved about
- 17:20Speaker 3: all the conversation around attendance and point to the location
- 17:22Speaker 3: of the stadium. But how do you account for this?
- 17:24Speaker 3: And then she posted from an article that Milwaukee's metrics
- 17:28Speaker 3: for game two were massive, 35.4 rating, 71 share. Rating
- 17:33Speaker 3: denotes the percentage of TV homes in a given market
- 17:36Speaker 3: watching a certain program while the share refers to the
- 17:38Speaker 3: percentage of TV's in use turned to an event the
- 17:42Speaker 3: tampa area by comparison 12.1 local rating peak 41 share
- 17:47Speaker 3: for game one so milwaukee dusted them on the tv
- 17:52Speaker 3: side too because that that is an argument and people
- 17:54Speaker 3: went nuts after this on both sides but people like
- 17:57Speaker 3: you can't say oh well they're not going the games
- 17:58Speaker 3: they're just watching on tv and then also milwaukee is
- 18:01Speaker 3: on a different level right now in terms of the
- 18:03Speaker 3: fever so it's tough to compare to them crats but
- 18:06Speaker 3: even still if you compare that number to a lot
- 18:08Speaker 3: of other spots in their market. It's not a great
- 18:11Speaker 3: TV number. I mean, it's great, but not great enough
- 18:14Speaker 3: for World Series and trying to win your first title.
- 18:16Speaker 4: That's my point.
- 18:17Speaker 1: That's the biggest thing. They just don't follow the team
- 18:22Speaker 1: as much, and I don't think it's necessarily the fans.
- 18:23Speaker 1: I think it's the team not selling the team to
- 18:28Speaker 1: the fans for years. They're a franchise that just hasn't
- 18:32Speaker 1: advertised in the area, the broader area. You still have
- 18:36Speaker 1: all the people from Tampa. I get it. If not
- 18:37Speaker 1: coming to the stadium, all people can watch. Make it
- 18:41Speaker 1: be something that people want to watch and create that
- 18:43Speaker 1: Brewers franchise. I mean, the Rays franchise.
- 18:48Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 18:49Speaker 3: You can't use that excuse to talk about, oh, well,
- 18:51Speaker 3: the causeway. And then they're like, oh, well, no one's
- 18:54Speaker 3: from Tampa. And I'm like, okay, well, that was the point.
- 18:56Speaker 3: They were saying where the Tampa fans at. Because they're like, oh, well,
- 18:59Speaker 3: so many people aren't from here. That's why they're not watching. okay,
- 19:02Speaker 3: that's what we were talking about then. Then it wasn't
- 19:05Speaker 3: the causeway.
- 19:06Speaker 1: Then they shouldn't have a team.
- 19:08Speaker 4: Right.
- 19:09Speaker 1: Or the team should advertise in the area to make
- 19:11Speaker 1: all these transplants be like, I want to be a
- 19:14Speaker 1: Rays fan.
- 19:15Speaker 3: Well, New Ownership Group has a chance to do what
- 19:19Speaker 3: Stu Sternberg did not do well, marketing.
- 19:21Speaker 4: No, he did not.
- 19:23Speaker 3: So the Baseball Hall of Fame takes things when history happens,
- 19:28Speaker 3: and they've grabbed a few things from the Brewers. One
- 19:31Speaker 3: of them is something that I thought he would need,
- 19:34Speaker 3: but I guess not. Aaron Ashby gave his specs. No
- 19:41Speaker 3: more specs. The glasses go to the Hall of Fame.
- 19:44Speaker 3: So Aaron Ashby can't see anymore. Don't ask him to
- 19:47Speaker 3: come into a game in the offseason unless he gets
- 19:50Speaker 3: new ones.
- 19:51Speaker 1: That dude is not answering the phone. I'm sorry. Him
- 19:54Speaker 1: and Louis Varlin from last year, these dudes don't answer
- 19:57Speaker 1: the phone because they're just going to be like, does
- 20:00Speaker 1: coach want me to get loose again? I'm good right now.
- 20:05Speaker 5: Listen, Scotty, something I learned from the Hall of Fame, like, Kratz,
- 20:10Speaker 5: you can do this too. If you want your stuff preserved,
- 20:13Speaker 5: anything you've played in, like a glove, a bat, a jersey, balls,
- 20:19Speaker 5: whatever authentic, you can put it in your own little
- 20:23Speaker 5: compartment there for your sons and daughters, daughters, daughters, for
- 20:28Speaker 5: your lineage. They can see that for as long as
- 20:31Speaker 5: there's a Baseball Hall of Fame. I thought that was
- 20:33Speaker 5: pretty cool that I learned that.
- 20:34Speaker 1: Do you have something there?
- 20:37Speaker 4: I have....
- 20:39Speaker 5: Man, I don't have, no, I, they, they showed me
- 20:42Speaker 5: a bunch of articles when I was there in Cooperstown,
- 20:44Speaker 5: but they said, whatever you really want, we can, we
- 20:47Speaker 5: can put in there. So I might do some home
- 20:49Speaker 5: run Derby stuff, you know, before, you know, all said
- 20:52Speaker 5: and done.
- 20:54Speaker 3: That's cool. Yeah. I mean, it's like a time capsule slash, uh,
- 20:58Speaker 3: safety deposit box kind of thing where you're right.
- 21:01Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 21:02Speaker 3: I mean, they are built for it. Quick question, random,
- 21:05Speaker 3: but The bat that you used that you weren't actually
- 21:08Speaker 3: holding when you hit a homer. Do you have that one?
- 21:11Speaker 3: Where's that one?
- 21:13Speaker 4: Oh, I don't know. I don't know if I have it.
- 21:15Speaker 3: You know the bat I'm talking about where you threw
- 21:17Speaker 3: it at?
- 21:17Speaker 4: Yeah. Maybe I should have got that.
- 21:21Speaker 5: You know, hindsight 2020, maybe I should have got it authentic.
- 21:25Speaker 4: Authenticated.
- 21:28Speaker 1: You have a ton of merch already, so you didn't
- 21:33Speaker 1: need to keep anything else.
- 21:35Speaker 4: You worry about your merch, okay?
- 21:38Speaker 3: Hot Corner is presented by the Fox One app. We
- 21:47Speaker 3: continue to learn about options, club options, player options. All
- 21:50Speaker 3: of that will go down in the next few days.
- 21:53Speaker 3: This is our annual reminder that mutual options are basically fake.
- 21:58Speaker 3: Nobody ever accepts them on both sides. Nick Martinez, who
- 22:03Speaker 3: is the one?
- 22:05Speaker 1: I played for the Brewers. I want to say it
- 22:08Speaker 1: was Ramirez. Right-handed hitting. Now I got to find out.
- 22:13Speaker 4: Aramis Ramirez?
- 22:17Speaker 2: No.
- 22:18Speaker 3: Could be Aramis.
- 22:19Speaker 4: All right.
- 22:20Speaker 6: Anyway.
- 22:20Speaker 1: I'm going to look it up. We'll look it up.
- 22:22Speaker 3: Nick Martinez declining his mutual option. It was set at
- 22:24Speaker 3: $ 20 million. You're like, oh, that's a good number. Well,
- 22:27Speaker 3: he gets $ 4 million for declining it. Right? So we're
- 22:31Speaker 3: already down to, you know, here's my value, $ 16 million.
- 22:34Speaker 3: And then we'll see what he fetches on the free
- 22:36Speaker 3: agent market.
- 22:36Speaker 4: Great check.
- 22:38Speaker 3: Great year.
- 22:39Speaker 4: Oh yeah.
- 22:40Speaker 3: 4 million. That'll do your Christmas shopping. So John Heyman
- 22:44Speaker 3: reporting on it and how basically all mutual options end
- 22:48Speaker 3: up this way. Sonny Gray has one of these. You
- 22:52Speaker 3: got a $ 10 million buyout. He's a free agent. Incredible.
- 22:57Speaker 3: The opt-ins to me are more interesting. So I'm going
- 23:00Speaker 3: to do two opt-ins. One, Pretty obvious. Corbin Burns not
- 23:08Speaker 3: opting out of the final four years 140. This was
- 23:12Speaker 3: the year where he had a trigger, but he would
- 23:14Speaker 3: have had to give up four 140. And given the injuries,
- 23:19Speaker 3: Todd Father, I mean the elbow and then really just
- 23:23Speaker 3: popping up for a minute at the end of this season.
- 23:26Speaker 3: You're not getting 4-1-40 on the free agent market, so
- 23:28Speaker 3: you keep that. Still think he could be a valuable
- 23:32Speaker 3: piece of the Diamondbacks over the next few years, but
- 23:34Speaker 3: you opt into that one fast.
- 23:38Speaker 4: Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. There's some that are just really simple.
- 23:45Speaker 5: It's so cool that Sonny Gray is going to get
- 23:47Speaker 5: a $ 10 million buyout, and then Corbin Burns, he's got
- 23:50Speaker 5: a big one here. All these guys, this is why
- 23:54Speaker 5: baseball is so great. You can decide what contract you
- 23:57Speaker 5: want and they have to stick to it. And then
- 23:59Speaker 5: at the end, you decide whether you want to go.
- 24:02Speaker 5: Player options are great. Mutual is kind of tough. And
- 24:05Speaker 5: then team option is even tougher because they decide your fate.
- 24:09Speaker 4: So you have to really decide moving forward exactly what
- 24:13Speaker 4: you want to do.
- 24:13Speaker 5: And there might be some arguments here and there, but
- 24:15Speaker 5: these guys are all making the right decisions in my
- 24:18Speaker 5: mind so far.
- 24:19Speaker 3: Last one, Kratz, most importantly, or maybe I just want
- 24:23Speaker 3: to be able to question anyone that was going the
- 24:27Speaker 3: other way on this. Bo Bichette has a $ 42 million
- 24:31Speaker 3: player option for next season. Yeah, he's going to stay
- 24:35Speaker 3: with the Mets. He has another one for the season
- 24:37Speaker 3: after that. Again, $ 42 million. If he finds his form, right? Great.
- 24:43Speaker 3: You can hit the free agent market after that. But
- 24:46Speaker 3: look at the numbers for Bo. And I know he
- 24:47Speaker 3: started slow, Kratz, and then he got better. But he never, like,
- 24:51Speaker 3: set the world on fire this season for a long
- 24:53Speaker 3: period of time. He's obviously opting in. 28 years old,
- 24:57Speaker 3: I get it. He's not getting $ 42 million a season,
- 25:01Speaker 3: and he's not getting even a longer-term deal that adds
- 25:03Speaker 3: up the next couple seasons for him right now. That
- 25:05Speaker 3: could change. But I remember seeing a couple times during
- 25:09Speaker 3: the season, like, oh, Bo might opt out.
- 25:10Speaker 4: I'm like, huh? No.
- 25:14Speaker 3: No freaking way.
- 25:17Speaker 4: That might be the biggest opt-out one I've ever seen.
- 25:20Speaker 1: I love it. I love Bo Bichette. There's not– it
- 25:26Speaker 1: was a panic move by the Mets to give him
- 25:28Speaker 1: the contract because they heard what the Phillies were looking at.
- 25:33Speaker 1: And good for the Phillies that they didn't get that.
- 25:35Speaker 1: Or he might have played really well in Philly. Who knows?
- 25:39Speaker 3: Also, I know he was fine. I got to look
- 25:41Speaker 3: deeper at what the D-metric said. I watch a lot
- 25:44Speaker 3: of Mets games. Fine at third. He should be playing second.
- 25:47Speaker 3: So we'll see if they figure that part out. I
- 25:51Speaker 3: think asking him to play a position like that, he
- 25:54Speaker 3: should be a middle infielder. You don't want him at short.
- 25:55Speaker 3: That's fine. We've talked about that. He should be a
- 25:58Speaker 3: second baseman. I think, I think he'll hit better if
- 26:00Speaker 3: he's a second baseman too. I believe in that stuff.
- 26:02Speaker 3: So many, many more option conversations to come, but props
- 26:06Speaker 3: to Fox one, another big October sponsor, and they've got
- 26:10Speaker 3: college football. They've got the NFL on Fox streaming on

- 27:02Speaker 3: I mean, that's got to be a dream for you.
- 27:05Speaker 3: I know you love the crowds and the classic moments
- 27:09Speaker 3: in sports. The Lambo leap for Sal Freelick, for the
- 27:13Speaker 3: podcast crowd. That's what we're watching right now. The Brewers
- 27:15Speaker 3: capturing it as they shut up. At the Packers game
- 27:18Speaker 3: last night. That's freaking cool.
- 27:21Speaker 4: That is cool.
- 27:24Speaker 1: That's epic right there. Big woo with the trophy. He
- 27:28Speaker 1: probably can't even lift his shoulder. All the way over
- 27:32Speaker 1: his head.
- 27:33Speaker 4: With all his might.
- 27:34Speaker 5: Yeah, that's really, really fantastic. That's so cool. Just a
- 27:38Speaker 5: bunch of boys. Just boys just hanging out, man. Isn't
- 27:41Speaker 5: it crazy? You see these football players and basketball players
- 27:45Speaker 5: are specimens. You got just a bunch of dogs, just
- 27:48Speaker 5: guys just chilling and they're all shapes and sizes, man.
- 27:51Speaker 5: Baseball players are beautiful. You would never know. Some guys
- 27:56Speaker 5: who walk right down the street and you're like, ah,
- 27:58Speaker 5: just a regular dude. No, that's a World Series champ
- 28:01Speaker 5: for sure.
- 28:03Speaker 3: Even the Packers players on the sidelines and they're in
- 28:07Speaker 3: a game and they like see them coming through and
- 28:09Speaker 3: they're like, clapping.
- 28:11Speaker 4: It up oh yeah that's the good stuff give respect.
- 28:16Speaker 3: So the brewers are going to do their thing they're
- 28:18Speaker 3: going to party and partying means showing up at as
- 28:22Speaker 3: many public places as possible to get your flowers right.
- 28:27Speaker 1: But different the different times we made it deep whether
- 28:30Speaker 1: it's the nlcs alcs world series I don't know. I
- 28:34Speaker 1: wasn't playing in a lot of games. So I was
- 28:36Speaker 1: always in charge of like, Hey, what are we going
- 28:38Speaker 1: to do when we win? Cause it's not, it doesn't
- 28:40Speaker 1: jinx it. You plan, you plan and you talk about
- 28:44Speaker 1: the things you want to do and you go, you
- 28:46Speaker 1: know what? We might not sleep for seven days. We're
- 28:48Speaker 1: going to go here. We're going to do this. Then
- 28:51Speaker 1: we're going to go out to Vegas. All the boys
- 28:53Speaker 1: will fly. And some would be like, I'll pay for
- 28:55Speaker 1: the plane. And you're like, yeah, that's kind of why
- 28:57Speaker 1: we brought it up. Cause we're not flying.
- 28:59Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 29:00Speaker 1: You know? So it's like, It's stuff like that, that
- 29:04Speaker 1: the boys are going to, they're going to need a nap.
- 29:06Speaker 1: Let's put it that way.
- 29:08Speaker 4: They're going to have time.
- 29:09Speaker 3: They're going to have time to nap. Unfortunately.
- 29:13Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 29:13Speaker 3: You know what? You know what we're not going to
- 29:16Speaker 3: bring up next season? The world series hangover. If we
- 29:20Speaker 3: miss any games, there's no hangover. You're going to get
- 29:22Speaker 3: extra time to rest. No world series hangover conversation next
- 29:27Speaker 3: year for either side, for, The champ or the runner-up.
- 29:30Speaker 3: I know it happens all the time, but they're going
- 29:32Speaker 3: to get extra time. It might not be a lot
- 29:34Speaker 3: of extra time. It might only be a week or whatever.
- 29:36Speaker 4: Pratt doesn't think it. He doesn't think it's going to
- 29:39Speaker 4: be any.
- 29:40Speaker 3: Such a positive man. Positive thinker.
- 29:42Speaker 2: All right, BetMGM Futures, it begins.
- 29:52Speaker 3: We mentioned yesterday some of the early odds. plus two
- 29:56Speaker 3: 50 on the Dodgers to win the world series. That
- 29:58Speaker 3: is way too high. I'm sorry. That is ridiculous. I, that,
- 30:02Speaker 3: that is like one of my, it's not even about
- 30:05Speaker 3: if they're going to win or not. Like you're getting
- 30:07Speaker 3: plus two 50 on the Dodgers. That's it. That's crazy.
- 30:11Speaker 3: Brewers at plus 600 Yankees plus 900. Again, this is
- 30:14Speaker 3: not against the Dodgers. Just like that's not good value
- 30:18Speaker 3: for a world series winner at this point in time.
- 30:20Speaker 3: Do not do that right now. That, That shouldn't change much,
- 30:24Speaker 3: even if the Dodgers have a good year heading into
- 30:26Speaker 3: the playoffs. There's just too many things that could go wrong, injuries, whatever.
- 30:29Speaker 3: Do you agree with me, Kratz? Plus 250, you're not
- 30:33Speaker 3: getting enough value for a World Series winner at that price.
- 30:36Speaker 1: No, they're not baiting me in on that one, so
- 30:40Speaker 1: I got to be patient. They might start out like
- 30:43Speaker 1: two and three in the beginning of the season, and
- 30:45Speaker 1: I might get up to like 300 if that's what
- 30:47Speaker 1: the number is. The one that surprises me here is
- 30:50Speaker 1: the Cubs at plus 1,400. Braves, no. I get that. Yankees,
- 31:00Speaker 1: they're just hedging themselves because they know there's going to
- 31:03Speaker 1: be a lot of people that are going to put
- 31:05Speaker 1: something down on the Yankees. To me, the value on
- 31:09Speaker 1: this board is probably at the Braves at $ 1, 300.
- 31:14Speaker 3: Okay. Why the Cubs?
- 31:18Speaker 1: Glaring hole. Glaring hole. I mean, they had the best
- 31:23Speaker 1: defense in the game, one of the best offenses, and
- 31:26Speaker 1: 30th in starting rotation. So hard for a team that
- 31:30Speaker 1: doesn't spend recklessly to take care of all of that.
- 31:34Speaker 1: We just had a long segment with Sahadeh DeSharma, and
- 31:41Speaker 1: I just think it's an uphill climb. I don't think
- 31:44Speaker 1: the Cubs are there as far as a team, especially
- 31:46Speaker 1: losing your, like, one of your captains and Ian Happ.
- 31:49Speaker 1: Like I think there's, there's a lot. Carson Kelly is
- 31:52Speaker 1: a free agent too. We didn't even get to him.
- 31:53Speaker 1: Like there's a lot that they're, that they have to
- 31:57Speaker 1: for right now. I just don't think that numbers where
- 32:00Speaker 1: I would even come close to touching it.
- 32:03Speaker 3: One more for me, Todd father, the race of a
- 32:06Speaker 3: new ownership group. They're just a year in. Maybe they
- 32:08Speaker 3: do bring some people back or also spend a little
- 32:13Speaker 3: money in free agency. They're plus 2,200. That's the same
- 32:17Speaker 3: as the Guardians. The Red Sox are ahead of them.
- 32:18Speaker 3: The Yankees are way ahead of them.
- 32:22Speaker 1: Scott, does the win the World Series?
- 32:24Speaker 4: I got you.
- 32:25Speaker 3: They never won. Yeah, but then why do the Yankees
- 32:27Speaker 3: get the plus 900 piece?
- 32:30Speaker 1: The Yankees are closer. How about that?
- 32:35Speaker 4: Todd? I don't know.
- 32:39Speaker 5: It's hard. Now, every time you see this, you've got
- 32:43Speaker 5: to take in two things. Well, obvious free agency and
- 32:47Speaker 5: injuries too. Like, is Judge going to be healthy? Is
- 32:51Speaker 5: Stanton going to be back pitching without Stanton? There's a
- 32:55Speaker 5: lot of unknowns. So, I think this is a little
- 32:59Speaker 5: bit early to kind of judge and figure out. But
- 33:04Speaker 5: if you're looking for like a bang for your buck,
- 33:05Speaker 5: maybe the Phillies get like two dogs that come in
- 33:08Speaker 5: and then it'll go up. So, that's why it's gambling.
- 33:12Speaker 5: I think Brewers are Plus 600? That's a good one
- 33:17Speaker 5: right now for me. That's something I'd be looking at
- 33:19Speaker 5: right there.
- 33:20Speaker 3: Yeah, young team, capable of repeating.
- 33:21Speaker 4: I feel like that's really high. I feel like it's high.
- 33:25Speaker 3: What do you think it should be?
- 33:27Speaker 4: I think it should be closer to what the Dodgers are,
- 33:29Speaker 4: plus 250.
- 33:30Speaker 3: Oh, you think it should be the other way, plus 250? Yeah.
- 33:33Speaker 1: Wow.
- 33:33Speaker 4: Yeah, I do. I really do.
- 33:35Speaker 5: They got everybody, pretty much everybody coming back. So, I mean,
- 33:39Speaker 5: who says that they don't make another run at this thing?
- 33:41Speaker 4: That's all.
- 33:42Speaker 3: That could be your value pick then. You could six
- 33:44Speaker 3: X on that.
- 33:45Speaker 1: Cause it's really hard. Cause it's really hard to, it is.
- 33:47Speaker 3: Hard to repeat. Sure.
- 33:50Speaker 4: Sure. All right.
- 33:52Speaker 3: Bet MGM players inside the bet MGM app. You might
- 33:55Speaker 3: have yourself a little, any sport parlay boost token. And
- 33:58Speaker 3: we know that does not include baseball, no more baseball
- 34:01Speaker 3: for a minute, but that can include football, basketball, hockey,
- 34:04Speaker 3: whatever's on there, right? Activate the token. If you win
- 34:07Speaker 3: the wager with that token, extra winnings, gambling, prom or
- 34:10Speaker 3: concern call 1-800-GAMBLER.
- 34:13Speaker 5: Okay, Kratzy, here we are again, man. How many times
- 34:16Speaker 5: do we have to tell people to get the best
- 34:18Speaker 5: tickets in the house? Where do we got to go?
- 34:19Speaker 5: We got to go to SeatGeek. It's been worth it
- 34:22Speaker 5: so many times, so many years. The green light will
- 34:25Speaker 5: let you know when it is time to go and
- 34:28Speaker 5: the best seats available. The red will let you know
- 34:30Speaker 5: if it's not the best. Kratzy, tell them how easy
- 34:32Speaker 5: it is.
- 34:32Speaker 1: Todd, I know it's easy, but I'm looking for the
- 34:36Speaker 1: deals because that's what I do. Even so much, like
- 34:39Speaker 1: we're getting such a good deal. I want you to
- 34:41Speaker 1: come across the river. and we'll go to a Sixers
- 34:43Speaker 1: game together. I don't know where to sit in the stadium,
- 34:46Speaker 1: but it'll let me know that it's a perfect view
- 34:49Speaker 1: because I'm not a big NBA fan, but I gotta
- 34:52Speaker 1: go see the Sixers play with LeBron and the boys.
- 34:55Speaker 4: And of course I have a code for you all.
- 34:56Speaker 5: You can use code TERRITORY10 for 10% off your next
- 34:59Speaker 5: set of tickets at SeatGeek. That's 10% of all tickets
- 35:03Speaker 5: with promo code TERRITORY10. Make sure you click the link
- 35:07Speaker 5: in the description to download the app and have the
- 35:09Speaker 5: code automatically added to your account so you can use
- 35:12Speaker 5: it later.
- 35:13Speaker 6: At the start of the 2026 Arizona Fall League, Major
- 35:15Speaker 6: League Baseball quietly started testing new outfield positioning rules. These
- 35:18Speaker 6: rules regulated where the outfielders could play, with corner outfields
- 35:21Speaker 6: starting much shallower and closer to the line and centerfielders
- 35:24Speaker 6: also starting shallower. The goal was to increase the offensive
- 35:27Speaker 6: output and especially more extra base hits in the gaps.
- 35:30Speaker 6: And to say that is what it has accomplished is
- 35:32Speaker 6: an understatement. Runs are up substantially with a 34% increase
- 35:36Speaker 6: compared to games at all other parks. In Salt River,
- 35:39Speaker 6: there's been an average of 15.9 runs per game. All
- 35:43Speaker 6: other parks are over four runs per game less. Doubles
- 35:46Speaker 6: are up 81% at Salt River, with an average of
- 35:49Speaker 6: almost five per game. The increase in triples has been
- 35:52Speaker 6: even more dramatic, with a 236% increase. There's been an
- 35:57Speaker 6: average of 2.2 triples per game in Salt River, but
- 36:00Speaker 6: if MLB's goal was to increase balls in play and
- 36:02Speaker 6: extra base hits, they are accomplishing that so far.
- 36:05Speaker 3: Grats.
- 36:07Speaker 1: I hate it.
- 36:08Speaker 4: I hate it.
- 36:10Speaker 1: I hate helicopter parenting. I hate helicopter coaching. I hate helicopter–
- 36:16Speaker 1: let the players play the game however the heck they
- 36:19Speaker 1: want to play it. You want to create– well, let's
- 36:22Speaker 1: create more offense. Okay, well, let's move the mound back.
- 36:25Speaker 1: Let's move it down. Let's do all these things. Like
- 36:30Speaker 1: I just am– I'm against it.
- 36:35Speaker 5: Kratzy, I love where you're at right now because it's
- 36:38Speaker 5: usually me saying how much I dislike some things. And
- 36:42Speaker 5: for you to start it off like that with your
- 36:45Speaker 5: jacket on, I freaking love it, man.
- 36:48Speaker 4: Awesome, awesome. What are we doing? Kratzy, that's what you
- 36:52Speaker 4: should have said. What are we doing?
- 36:53Speaker 1: Yeah, what are we doing here? Yo, are we nickel
- 36:57Speaker 1: and diamond? Are we riding the wave? I should have
- 37:00Speaker 1: used some Todd phrases.
- 37:02Speaker 4: Oh, listen, my guy, okay? What are we doing out
- 37:07Speaker 4: there in the outfield?
- 37:08Speaker 5: I wish, you know, I'd still probably be playing right
- 37:11Speaker 5: now if that was the case, my guy.
- 37:12Speaker 4: Come on.
- 37:14Speaker 1: Well, it's like the whole shift thing. I remember talking
- 37:17Speaker 1: to Ryan Howard about it, and he was like, oh, man,
- 37:19Speaker 1: if they had banned the shift back in this day,
- 37:21Speaker 1: I said, big piece. I was like, if they had
- 37:25Speaker 1: banned the shift, you could have made them ban the shift.
- 37:28Speaker 1: You think you go four for four with four bunts
- 37:31Speaker 1: to the left side, they're going to stop at some point?
- 37:34Speaker 4: Nope.
- 37:35Speaker 1: How about eight for eight? How about, like, you make
- 37:39Speaker 1: the decisions that you make. I'm sorry. Like, I just,
- 37:45Speaker 1: why do we have to, oh, we want more action.
- 37:48Speaker 1: You want more injuries from pitchers, too? Like, is that fine? Like,
- 37:51Speaker 1: we're just overlooking that because these dudes got to throw
- 37:53Speaker 1: more pitches. Oh, we got to strike guys out more.
- 37:56Speaker 1: So we're going to throw hard? Like, stop. Stop with that.
- 38:01Speaker 3: More free agents just emerging with, you know, options and
- 38:05Speaker 3: all kinds of stuff. So I think the list is
- 38:07Speaker 3: up to maybe in the one 30 something range, but, um,
- 38:13Speaker 3: Bob Nightingale posted some more that just hit it. Uh,
- 38:16Speaker 3: Zach Acklin, we talked about Sonny gray.
- 38:18Speaker 4: What's up. Uh, the name I keep looking at is,
- 38:22Speaker 4: is Michael King. He's very intriguing. Uh, that that's a
- 38:27Speaker 4: dude right there that can be a two or three
- 38:29Speaker 4: on any ball club.
- 38:31Speaker 5: So for me, I see all the names, uh, Could
- 38:35Speaker 5: there be a reunion back in New York?
- 38:37Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 38:38Speaker 5: I think their pitching's pretty good right now, but I just,
- 38:42Speaker 5: I like him a lot.
- 38:44Speaker 4: That's all.
- 38:44Speaker 5: And I think he could help any team out. He's just,
- 38:47Speaker 5: he's really chilled too. And he, you know, Kratzy, I
- 38:51Speaker 5: think I might've said this to you before. He kind
- 38:52Speaker 5: of has that Roy Halladay kind of throwing motion and
- 38:55Speaker 5: everything to him. So it's, I know you've probably heard
- 38:59Speaker 5: that before too, but it's a beautiful thing.
- 39:02Speaker 1: I talked to him about it. I talked to him
- 39:04Speaker 1: about it and they both prepared the exact same way.
- 39:08Speaker 1: I mean, it was, and I, I played with him
- 39:10Speaker 1: at the beginning of his career. Well, I mean, in
- 39:12Speaker 1: AAA and the big leagues, but just the way they
- 39:15Speaker 1: both went about it stuff. And I mean, his ball
- 39:17Speaker 1: is both directions.
- 39:19Speaker 4: Oh my God.
- 39:20Speaker 1: Stay healthy this year and he's going to get paid.
- 39:24Speaker 3: Can I add one more, Tweets coming in here as
- 39:27Speaker 3: we're wrapping up the show for the weekend. Ken Rosenthal,
- 39:30Speaker 3: I think either– yeah, he said, Mariners still searching for
- 39:33Speaker 3: a manager, but they add C.J. Gilman as their hitting coach.
- 39:36Speaker 3: He comes up with that one with Spencer Nussbaum and
- 39:39Speaker 3: Chandler Rome all teaming up there. I'm always curious about
- 39:42Speaker 3: the hires. We're going to find out about the Mariners
- 39:44Speaker 3: any moment now. Why wouldn't you announce the manager first?
- 39:48Speaker 3: Aren't they involved in picking?
- 39:50Speaker 1: Are they waiting? Come on.
- 39:52Speaker 4: For what?
- 39:53Speaker 3: Waiting for what? I mean, just for the rest of the.
- 39:57Speaker 1: Brewers celebration and then their Friday MLB 6 o'clock dump.
- 40:03Speaker 3: To say that they hired a manager?
- 40:06Speaker 1: That's what I mean. Isn't that a good thing?
- 40:10Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 40:11Speaker 3: It makes no sense, right? Like if Joe Espada is
- 40:14Speaker 3: your selection, what are you waiting on? You can make
- 40:17Speaker 3: your announcement today, and then you're hiring the hitting coach?
- 40:20Speaker 3: I don't know. I don't get it. Maybe there's more
- 40:21Speaker 3: in the story that I'm missing.
- 40:24Speaker 1: Maybe Jerry DiPoto is like, I am sick of seeing
- 40:27Speaker 1: what I've seen. I'm hiring a hitting coach, not the manager.
- 40:32Speaker 4: Crazy, man.
- 40:34Speaker 3: Publicly then, still just announce the manager first.
- 40:38Speaker 1: How about Bobby McGill? You don't have to announce the
- 40:41Speaker 1: hitting coach first. Anyway.
- 40:44Speaker 3: Well, it leaked, but still, I don't know. All right,
- 41:00Speaker 3: let's slap. I'm going to do two Bob Nightingale tweets,
- 41:03Speaker 3: one of our insiders. So first off, he said, Hall
- 41:06Speaker 3: of Fame catcher Ted Simmons said, I was asked about
- 41:09Speaker 3: the World Series title and what it means after losing
- 41:12Speaker 3: Game 7 in the 1982 World Series. He said it
- 41:14Speaker 3: was horrible. Never got over it. None of us did.
- 41:16Speaker 3: We're now over it because this group has made it
- 41:19Speaker 3: happen for all of us. Robin Yount had similar comments.
- 41:21Speaker 3: So I think that's super cool. And then last one,
- 41:24Speaker 3: we got to shout this out, guys, because it is
- 41:26Speaker 3: so difficult to do. Bob Nightingale had a perfect bracket.
- 41:30Speaker 3: He picked everything right in the bracket for the entire postseason.
- 41:33Speaker 3: And people do not waste time going after Bob anytime
- 41:36Speaker 3: they can. Including on predictions. Oh, that's the worst predictions ever.
- 41:39Speaker 3: Bob picked the perfect bracket.
- 41:42Speaker 4: God bless him. Bobby Bones. Good call, man. When you know,
- 41:48Speaker 4: you know.
- 41:48Speaker 3: He had the Rays beating the Yanks. He had the
- 41:50Speaker 3: Guardians getting to the ALCS. Bobby did it. How many
- 41:55Speaker 3: people had perfect brackets first try just now?
- 41:58Speaker 1: Good for you, Bobby. That's good. That's good. I thought
- 42:01Speaker 1: I did good, but I didn't do that good.
- 42:03Speaker 4: Perfect.
- 42:04Speaker 3: Perfect.
- 42:04Speaker 4: Perfect.
- 42:06Speaker 3: People came for him because he said Milwaukee in six,
- 42:08Speaker 3: not five.
- 42:09Speaker 4: Oh, my. Shut up. No, it wasn't perfect. It wasn't
- 42:14Speaker 4: perfect overall. Yeah. Happy Halloween, people.
- 42:18Speaker 3: Can't wait to see Todd Father Vicks.
- 42:20Speaker 4: Brew Crew. Love and life.
