- 0:07Speaker 1: eight free wide receivers now in motion has Bumpas left
- 0:11Speaker 1: to right, Julius Jones, a single setback Matt Pumpfecks looking
- 0:14Speaker 1: at the goal line, he throws it into the end zone. Touchdown.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Say Hawks, it's Michael Bumpus with a diving catching the
- 0:21Speaker 1: end zone our ten yard touchdown reception for puppas and
- 0:25Speaker 1: the kid out of Washington State has found himself a
- 0:29Speaker 1: place on this team. Powered by Seahawks dot Com. Welcome
- 0:34Speaker 1: to Hawk Talk Recap edition. I am Michael Bumps along
- 0:37Speaker 1: with Nasa Sohlby. The Seahawks beat the Colts twenty eight
- 0:40Speaker 1: to sixteen in in the early start. But these guys
- 0:43Speaker 1: looked good, and like we always do on the recap,
- 0:47Speaker 1: we are going in the trenches with Ray robertson start,
- 0:52Speaker 1: It's time to go inside the trenches with former Seahawk
- 0:56Speaker 1: Ray Roberts. All right, we are in the inches with
- 1:00Speaker 1: no other than Ray Roberts. Big Ray with something man,
- 1:03Speaker 1: you my man. I want to first before we get started. Man,
- 1:07Speaker 1: it was my first prey and postgame show with you
- 1:09Speaker 1: was the as the host, and I would just have
- 1:13Speaker 1: to say that, man, you were doing a great job
- 1:14Speaker 1: and looking forward to to the rest of the season
- 1:17Speaker 1: with you. Man, I appreciate it. Y'all. Y'all make my
- 1:20Speaker 1: job easy. Man, I got some experts in the room
- 1:23Speaker 1: with me, so y'all definitely make it all worth it. So, man,
- 1:26Speaker 1: let's talk about these Seahawks. Man. The big question, Ray,
- 1:29Speaker 1: was this offense right? What is this offense going to
- 1:31Speaker 1: look like? Is it going to be smooth? Just your
- 1:35Speaker 1: initial reaction to this new Seahawks offense. Well, I'll be
- 1:39Speaker 1: honest with you, Mike, I was a little one of
- 1:40Speaker 1: those old school dudes that was a little bit nervous
- 1:43Speaker 1: that the that the Seahawks starters weren't getting any reps
- 1:47Speaker 1: in the preseason. And then it was really hard for
- 1:49Speaker 1: me to buy into you know, Pete Carroll, you know,
- 1:53Speaker 1: speaking about how they had to do installation last year
- 1:56Speaker 1: during a pandemic and all that, and he started out
- 1:58Speaker 1: six and old, and I just felt like, man, that
- 2:00Speaker 1: was just kind of like a like an anomaly, like
- 2:02Speaker 1: I don't know if that was like the rule, but
- 2:04Speaker 1: more of an exception to the rule. But they proved
- 2:07Speaker 1: me wrong. Man, they came out. I thought there's going
- 2:09Speaker 1: to be some communication issues or just timing issues or
- 2:12Speaker 1: what have you, even with Duwayne Brown not taking rest
- 2:15Speaker 1: aside Damian Lewis, and man it, it came out and
- 2:17Speaker 1: looked like what they said there was going to look like,
- 2:20Speaker 1: you know, they pretty much did what they wanted to do.
- 2:22Speaker 1: There was you know, there was there was a time,
- 2:24Speaker 1: you know, probably halfway through the game where they're deeply
- 2:27Speaker 1: the coach defensive line though, like it was kind of
- 2:29Speaker 1: getting some pressure with the pass rush, but they corrected
- 2:32Speaker 1: some of that stuff. I love the way the offense
- 2:36Speaker 1: made the defense defend the entire field, and so where
- 2:40Speaker 1: there was a run plays, there were the short even
- 2:43Speaker 1: intermediate passing. There's a obviously the deep balls to m
- 2:46Speaker 1: to uh title locket. And then the thing that was
- 2:49Speaker 1: really interesting to me is, you know, I went back
- 2:51Speaker 1: and just watched the replay of the game, is how
- 2:54Speaker 1: comfortable and um confident that that Russell felt in the pocket.
- 3:00Speaker 1: He didn't there were times where people were close, even
- 3:03Speaker 1: on some of those defalls, but he didn't feel the
- 3:06Speaker 1: urge to take out, take off and run a Doris
- 3:08Speaker 1: little reverse spin out. He stayed in the pockets, stepped
- 3:11Speaker 1: up to the ball and uh. And to me, that
- 3:13Speaker 1: shows trusting the offensive lines do you have in front
- 3:15Speaker 1: of you? And and so for the most part, you know,
- 3:18Speaker 1: offensive line did a great job pass blocking. They did
- 3:21Speaker 1: a good job run blocking. Chris Carson, you know, who
- 3:23Speaker 1: had ninety one yards rushing, could have easily gotten over
- 3:26Speaker 1: a hundred. And then you know, and then like I said,
- 3:28Speaker 1: with the past detection, they did a really good job.
- 3:30Speaker 1: But there's some some kind of garbage tacks there to
- 3:32Speaker 1: end and uh, and they got like two legit sacks,
- 3:35Speaker 1: I would say, But I was really impressed with how
- 3:37Speaker 1: they how the offense came out, Yary, I'm kind of
- 3:40Speaker 1: like you. I'm like old school, right, they're not practicing.
- 3:43Speaker 1: How's his offense gonna look? They come out and they execute.
- 3:45Speaker 1: They did their thing. Now, another thing that's kind of
- 3:48Speaker 1: different that we're not used to seeing, at least when
- 3:49Speaker 1: we play ball, is rotation at the center spot. Right.
- 3:53Speaker 1: We saw Kyle Fuller and we saw Ethan Postic going
- 3:55Speaker 1: back and forth. I mean, do you think we're gonna
- 3:57Speaker 1: continue to see that? And how do you feel about that?
- 3:59Speaker 1: I hope not I know last year they were I
- 4:02Speaker 1: think they were trying to uh. They were rotating early
- 4:06Speaker 1: with the guards. They had Jordan Simmers coming in for
- 4:08Speaker 1: your party, and uh, they were rotating some of the players.
- 4:12Speaker 1: I think Jones came in a couple of times for uh,
- 4:15Speaker 1: for Damian Lewis early in the season. I think they
- 4:17Speaker 1: were trying to build depth. Uh. But I'm not sure
- 4:20Speaker 1: if they're real settled at center who they want the
- 4:23Speaker 1: center to be. But I think at this point, the
- 4:24Speaker 1: way the offense is functioning, they need to just pick
- 4:27Speaker 1: a dude and run with them because I think if
- 4:29Speaker 1: they let the center and the two guards get comfortable,
- 4:33Speaker 1: planned with each other, planned beside each other, uh uh,
- 4:37Speaker 1: that it will you can mask a lot of the
- 4:39Speaker 1: issues that are at center. And I'm not saying that
- 4:42Speaker 1: the issues are glaring issues, but there are some times
- 4:45Speaker 1: when you know, when the center gets manned up that
- 4:47Speaker 1: there may be an advantage to the defense. But you
- 4:50Speaker 1: can also scheme offensively how to how to take care
- 4:53Speaker 1: of some of that stuff. I hope that they just
- 4:55Speaker 1: pick one and and I love even Postic. I've loved
- 4:58Speaker 1: them from the day they after him and couldn't quite
- 5:01Speaker 1: figure out you know what it was that he was
- 5:03Speaker 1: missing that they weren't, that they didn't love. But but
- 5:06Speaker 1: I like cal Puller in the in the middle. He
- 5:08Speaker 1: just seems stronger and bigger in that spot. And yeah,
- 5:11Speaker 1: he needs to improved past protection and all that kind
- 5:13Speaker 1: of stuff, but I think that they can mask that
- 5:16Speaker 1: with the guard play. Yeah, I feel you. I'm with you,
- 5:19Speaker 1: slike you need that continuity, that chemistry offenses, especially that
- 5:23Speaker 1: old line man. You guys work together so fluidly. Now
- 5:25Speaker 1: let's talk about Darryl Taylor. That guy's in a new position.
- 5:29Speaker 1: He looked explosive during training camp with just a T
- 5:32Speaker 1: shirt and a helmet on. But this dude showed up
- 5:34Speaker 1: on Sunday. What you see. You know, I was super
- 5:37Speaker 1: excited because, you know, during the preseason, you know, if
- 5:41Speaker 1: you don't really know the intricacies of pass rush and
- 5:45Speaker 1: offensive line play, defensive line playing the trenches, you can
- 5:48Speaker 1: look at what he did in the preseason and be like, so,
- 5:50Speaker 1: what all he did was run task around the corner.
- 5:52Speaker 1: I remember there's someone on Twitter was saying like he
- 5:56Speaker 1: needs to develop a move. He's just fast, and I'm like, dude,
- 5:59Speaker 1: speed kills like you cannot you cannot teach speed, and
- 6:03Speaker 1: you know, played against enough fast pass rushers to know
- 6:06Speaker 1: that if you can master your speed, that's all you need.
- 6:08Speaker 1: And so it was really I was really excited to
- 6:11Speaker 1: see him really put pressure on the quarterback. He had
- 6:14Speaker 1: a couple of hits on the quarterback. He could have
- 6:16Speaker 1: had three sacks. He missed a couple of because of
- 6:19Speaker 1: a bad angle or the quarterback scrambled out and got
- 6:22Speaker 1: away from him. But I was super excited about his
- 6:25Speaker 1: energy on the field. Uh, it could have maybe one
- 6:28Speaker 1: or two players, you know, setting an edge in the
- 6:29Speaker 1: run game could have been better. But the sack that
- 6:32Speaker 1: he got in the move that he made to get
- 6:34Speaker 1: that sack a stutter kind of He kind of started
- 6:37Speaker 1: out with speed, stuttered and then went to power. And
- 6:39Speaker 1: that's a lot to deal with for for an offensive lineman.
- 6:42Speaker 1: Of I don't care who you are and uh, and
- 6:44Speaker 1: so that shows a lot of improvement from what you
- 6:47Speaker 1: saw just in the preseason. So I'm excited about Darrel
- 6:51Speaker 1: Taylor and I knew he was going to be a playmaker.
- 6:53Speaker 1: It just a matter of time and putting everybody together
- 6:56Speaker 1: and getting all those reps with the rest of the
- 6:57Speaker 1: defensive line. Excited about this, dude. It might be the
- 7:00Speaker 1: first the yoak jersey I go by because I just
- 7:03Speaker 1: like to do so. Oh get it all right? All right,
- 7:06Speaker 1: Darrel Teller making a big impression on the big homie, right,
- 7:09Speaker 1: last one I got for you, man. So good week,
- 7:12Speaker 1: good start to the season. Offense got going, defense shine
- 7:14Speaker 1: at times as well. How do they keep this going?
- 7:17Speaker 1: It gets the Titans, We know what they got over
- 7:19Speaker 1: there there, Genery Julio Jones, A J. Brown. Now, the
- 7:22Speaker 1: Titans got beat by the Arizona Cardinals. They did their thing.
- 7:25Speaker 1: But what do the Seahawks have to do to keep
- 7:27Speaker 1: the good times rolling? Well, defensively, obviously, it's gonna be
- 7:30Speaker 1: stopped to run because you know that, you know, Tannehill
- 7:33Speaker 1: works the best off of play action and when the
- 7:35Speaker 1: running game is working. And then obviously Derrick Henry, he
- 7:38Speaker 1: just rushed for joined the two thousand yard club last
- 7:41Speaker 1: year and probably is gonna, you know, once he gets rolling,
- 7:43Speaker 1: he's probably gonna have a chance to maybe be the
- 7:46Speaker 1: first running back to do it back to back. So
- 7:48Speaker 1: they're gonna have to really man up against the run.
- 7:50Speaker 1: And then because they do have those explosive receivers, on
- 7:54Speaker 1: the outside. Then the pass rush is gonna have to
- 7:56Speaker 1: show up again. You know, we're still trying to get
- 7:59Speaker 1: settled at corner, uh and get that secondary you know
- 8:02Speaker 1: settled U and coverage is settled. So the better the
- 8:05Speaker 1: pass rush is, the more time you buy for those
- 8:08Speaker 1: guys to be better on the on the back end. So, uh,
- 8:10Speaker 1: stopping the run and continuing the pass rush is going
- 8:13Speaker 1: to be big for the defense. And then on offense,
- 8:16Speaker 1: it's just I feel like we just saw, like we
- 8:18Speaker 1: probably didn't see twenty five percent of what this offense
- 8:21Speaker 1: is capable of. You know, they tease us a little
- 8:23Speaker 1: bit in the middle when they were like just killing
- 8:25Speaker 1: them with the tight end, you know, to four straight
- 8:27Speaker 1: passes to the tight end and top that with a
- 8:29Speaker 1: touchdown pass the average. So that's just a little bit
- 8:32Speaker 1: of what they can do and in that area. And
- 8:34Speaker 1: we didn't see a lot of the wrinkles that they
- 8:36Speaker 1: have in the run game, So we didn't really see
- 8:38Speaker 1: We saw a little bit of the tempo, but not
- 8:40Speaker 1: a lot of the tempo. So there's still a lot
- 8:43Speaker 1: to be uh, the show with this offense. So just
- 8:45Speaker 1: building on the success that you had, you know, in
- 8:48Speaker 1: the first week and uh and just continuing to make
- 8:50Speaker 1: the defense defend the entire field. I don't know that
- 8:53Speaker 1: the Titans defenses is going to be one of the
- 8:55Speaker 1: better defenses they face. So it's an opportunity to get
- 8:58Speaker 1: right in a lot of areas with this off all Right,
- 9:01Speaker 1: you heard it here first, Ray Roberts gave you the
- 9:04Speaker 1: recipe to success, big homie, like always, man, appreciate your time. Yes, sir,
- 9:09Speaker 1: that's the bump us. Good to hear from me this week. Brothers.
- 9:11Speaker 1: All right, man, see soon. All right, you got the
- 9:14Speaker 1: word from Ray. Now we're bringing in NASA Sholby. Let's
- 9:17Speaker 1: talk about this win. What had happened, See what had
- 9:19Speaker 1: happened at first? What had happened was unhwkdo. What had
- 9:27Speaker 1: happened was it was good. It was great for the
- 9:29Speaker 1: Seattle Seahawks beating the Colts twenty eight to sixteen, and
- 9:33Speaker 1: honestly bumped right off the jump. The thing that stood
- 9:35Speaker 1: out to me, number one was how good this new
- 9:37Speaker 1: look offense was. Man, And I'm telling you it absolutely
- 9:40Speaker 1: lived up to the hype. On Sunday to Seawks had
- 9:43Speaker 1: three hundred and eighty one total yards and averaged seven
- 9:45Speaker 1: point two yards of play. Russell Wilson started off like
- 9:49Speaker 1: you know he would, just like it did twenty twenty.
- 9:51Speaker 1: Martis eleventh game with four touchdown passes and zero interceptions,
- 9:55Speaker 1: and most by a player in his first ten seasons
- 9:57Speaker 1: in NFL history, surpassing Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, and Hall
- 10:01Speaker 1: of Famer Peyton Manning. So this offense looked great, Bump.
- 10:04Speaker 1: I mean when you watched it, they could do everything
- 10:07Speaker 1: right kind of alluded to it there. They got a
- 10:09Speaker 1: little bit with the tight ends, a little bit of
- 10:11Speaker 1: tempo and everything. To me that stood out, Bump was
- 10:14Speaker 1: it just felt easy. It felt easy. It felt like
- 10:17Speaker 1: they had something for the Colts defense, and the Colts
- 10:20Speaker 1: defense couldn't really respond. Yeah, you know that first drive
- 10:24Speaker 1: was interesting, right because the Colts come out and they're
- 10:26Speaker 1: moving the rock right, there's a couple of third downs.
- 10:28Speaker 1: He felt like that the Seahawks defense was gonna get
- 10:30Speaker 1: off the field. They're handing the ball to Jonathan Taylor.
- 10:32Speaker 1: Were like, okay, they're grinding it out. Defense holds the
- 10:36Speaker 1: Colts to three points, which is good. Now that offense
- 10:38Speaker 1: gets out there, and like you said, everything was clicking. Man.
- 10:41Speaker 1: We saw the tight ends get involved. We saw a
- 10:43Speaker 1: tight end scream. There was a drive I think it
- 10:46Speaker 1: was a second or third drive where the tight ends
- 10:48Speaker 1: just contributed the most. We saw will Dissey with a
- 10:51Speaker 1: stiff farm. You see Joe Ever with a screen and
- 10:53Speaker 1: then a slant to score a touchdown, and that run
- 10:56Speaker 1: game got going. It just looked really balanced and Russell
- 10:58Speaker 1: Wilson got the full ball out of his hands quickly.
- 11:00Speaker 1: We saw everything that we wanted to see in its
- 11:02Speaker 1: only week one. Right, they're gonna start adding things to
- 11:05Speaker 1: this playbook, a few wrinkles here and there. I'm excited
- 11:08Speaker 1: to see where this offense goes. Absolutely, and you look
- 11:10Speaker 1: at the drive chart they started the game. They went touchdown, touchdown,
- 11:13Speaker 1: plunt touchdown. I mean he had to drive nine place
- 11:16Speaker 1: eighty six yards, seven place sixty one yards, six place
- 11:19Speaker 1: eighty eight yards. So it's just really fun to see,
- 11:21Speaker 1: especially and it just it felt different. And that's not
- 11:23Speaker 1: a shot at what the offense was like under Bevel
- 11:26Speaker 1: or Schottenheimer. It's just really cool to see what Waldron
- 11:29Speaker 1: can bring. And Race said it too, like we just
- 11:31Speaker 1: see maybe twenty five percent of what they're capable of,
- 11:34Speaker 1: which is really scary for the NFC West, and now
- 11:37Speaker 1: we can't sleep on the defense either man. Defense made
- 11:39Speaker 1: some plays. Darryl Taylor got after Rashime Green got after
- 11:42Speaker 1: Bobby did this same. We're gonna talk about our playmakers
- 11:45Speaker 1: here in the next segment, but there were some plays
- 11:47Speaker 1: being made out there. I love how Carson Wentz just
- 11:51Speaker 1: didn't seem comfortable. There was a stretch where he was
- 11:53Speaker 1: ten for eleven. He had things going, but when it
- 11:55Speaker 1: was time to play some ball and get dirty, that
- 11:57Speaker 1: defense showed up and did the thing. Yeah, without questions,
- 12:00Speaker 1: and you never felt at any point like the game
- 12:02Speaker 1: wasn't in control. You know, people talk about how the
- 12:05Speaker 1: Seahawks play, and typically how the Seahawks usually start the season.
- 12:07Speaker 1: Sometimes it's kind of a knock them out, drag him out, slow,
- 12:10Speaker 1: star furious comeback. In the second half, the Seahawks were
- 12:13Speaker 1: in control from the jump, and you mentioned defensively, it's
- 12:16Speaker 1: a huge to hold them to a field goal on
- 12:18Speaker 1: that first time. And while everyone talked about our new
- 12:21Speaker 1: look offense, the Colts had a new quarterback. Things were
- 12:24Speaker 1: different over there too, so the Seahawks for the first time,
- 12:26Speaker 1: and it was cool that we could put to bed
- 12:29Speaker 1: all to worry about whether or not it would impact
- 12:31Speaker 1: the Seahawks if they didn't have a preseason or for
- 12:33Speaker 1: starters in play. Well, the boys refreshed and no one
- 12:36Speaker 1: was on the injury report, and it was a good reason.
- 12:38Speaker 1: So obviously, continue to trust and Pete and John. They
- 12:40Speaker 1: know what they're doing. Defensively, they look great, and honestly, man,
- 12:44Speaker 1: I don't want to get too overly excited. It's been
- 12:46Speaker 1: one week. It's been one week. Sometimes you know, overreaction
- 12:50Speaker 1: Monday's what they call it, right, But what I'm seeing, man,
- 12:53Speaker 1: their Seahawks are in control. The young guys were flashing.
- 12:56Speaker 1: So I'm really really excited about the potential of this
- 12:58Speaker 1: squad in twenty twenty one. I'm with these, sir. Now,
- 13:01Speaker 1: let's talk about these youngsters and old school cats and playmakers. Playmakers,
- 13:16Speaker 1: but they make us. Of course, we could probably start
- 13:19Speaker 1: the segment every single week with the quarterback number three,
- 13:22Speaker 1: Russell Wilson. I mentioned he broke some records earlier. He
- 13:25Speaker 1: was eighteen of twenty three with two hundred fifty four yards,
- 13:28Speaker 1: four touchdowns and most importantly no interceptions. Man, And the
- 13:32Speaker 1: thing about Russ we kind of talked about this little
- 13:34Speaker 1: bit on the postgame show. Is there's a lot made
- 13:36Speaker 1: up of how much control he has in this offense,
- 13:38Speaker 1: and he feels like he has more freedom. And it
- 13:40Speaker 1: seems like we saw that on Sunday. He was checking
- 13:42Speaker 1: a ton of different plays. There was always an outlet
- 13:45Speaker 1: for him. He always had the team in the right play,
- 13:47Speaker 1: whether it's checking to a run with Chris Carsons will
- 13:49Speaker 1: talk about in a minute, or buying Tyler Locket or
- 13:52Speaker 1: dkbec f down the field getting escridg involved. So the
- 13:55Speaker 1: quarterback looks amazing and again, don't want to get ahead
- 13:59Speaker 1: of yours. It's week one, but man, he's gonna be
- 14:03Speaker 1: all up in that MVP conversation once again this season,
- 14:06Speaker 1: second time, second season in the row. He started the
- 14:10Speaker 1: season with four touchdowns knowing deceptions only. He's the first
- 14:13Speaker 1: quarterback to ever do that back to back season openers
- 14:15Speaker 1: four touchdowns, no interceptions. He's always breaking records. What else
- 14:19Speaker 1: is new for Rolsell Wilson? All right? Next, playmaker Tyler
- 14:21Speaker 1: Lockett four receptions a hundred yards of one touchdown. Now
- 14:24Speaker 1: this offseason, DK has been getting a lot of love,
- 14:27Speaker 1: as he should be getting a lot of love, dude
- 14:29Speaker 1: to a playmaker he's a superstar of personality all that stuff.
- 14:32Speaker 1: But number sixteen said, man, don't sleep on me. Don't forget.
- 14:35Speaker 1: I've been here seven eight years. I've been making plays
- 14:38Speaker 1: the last four or five years. I'm gonna get this
- 14:40Speaker 1: thing going. Tyler Lockett looks good. Will break down one
- 14:43Speaker 1: of his touchdowns in the film room later on in
- 14:45Speaker 1: this podcast. But it's nice to see sixteen lead to
- 14:49Speaker 1: charge because everyone thought that fourteen was gonna go out
- 14:51Speaker 1: there and kind of have a big day. He had
- 14:53Speaker 1: a day as well, but sixteen overliable Manking always count
- 14:56Speaker 1: on him, always, man, he's just a technician, like he
- 15:00Speaker 1: shouldn't be surprised with his production anymore. Because the thing
- 15:02Speaker 1: I've always said about Tyler in which we love, is
- 15:04Speaker 1: that the efficiency. Man. When you look at Tyler Lockett,
- 15:08Speaker 1: it's four receptions on five targets. There's pretty much every
- 15:13Speaker 1: Boss Storey look at. With Tyler Lockett, you maybe only
- 15:16Speaker 1: missed him once or twice. He's not a guy where
- 15:18Speaker 1: he's being targeted fifteen times and has eight receptions. Incredibly efficient.
- 15:22Speaker 1: When those two hook up, it's it's dangerous for defenses.
- 15:25Speaker 1: So Tyler Lockett balling out as we know he would,
- 15:28Speaker 1: but man, our boy, Chris Carson, people have been sleeping too.
- 15:31Speaker 1: And it's hard to say that because it's man's had
- 15:33Speaker 1: several one thousand yards seasons. But you know he goes
- 15:36Speaker 1: in this offseason is in a phenomenal shape. He always
- 15:39Speaker 1: is doing crazy workout videos that hurt to even watch, honestly,
- 15:43Speaker 1: and you know, people were wondering how he's gonna look
- 15:45Speaker 1: in this offense, and I just loved how they use him.
- 15:47Speaker 1: Sixteen carries ninety one yards, averaging five point seven yards
- 15:51Speaker 1: to carry. You saw him at that thirty three yard run.
- 15:54Speaker 1: You saw him get some of those tough yards, stiff
- 15:56Speaker 1: arm and guys, just being physical runner that he is.
- 16:00Speaker 1: He had the one fumble, obviously he'd like to give back,
- 16:02Speaker 1: but the Seahawks came right back to him the next
- 16:04Speaker 1: drive corrected that. So Chris Carson, man, he's gonna have
- 16:07Speaker 1: if he can stay healthy, he will be well over
- 16:09Speaker 1: a thousand yards. And he's so important in this offense
- 16:12Speaker 1: that you gotta marry the run game in the past game,
- 16:14Speaker 1: as Ray Roberts always says, And we saw a lot
- 16:16Speaker 1: of good things from Chris Carson on Sunday. Yeah, Chris
- 16:19Speaker 1: Carson running behind those paths like he normally does. I
- 16:22Speaker 1: feel sorry for defenders who try to tackle this dude
- 16:25Speaker 1: like he's he meets force with force. It's not like
- 16:28Speaker 1: he's just running to get tackled. He's like, look, you're
- 16:30Speaker 1: trying to go head up. Let's go ahead and do it.
- 16:32Speaker 1: I'm about one hundred and thirty pounds. I've been working
- 16:35Speaker 1: out this offseason. I'm ready to go. Chris Carson, it
- 16:37Speaker 1: looks like it hurts to tackle you, sir. You're the
- 16:39Speaker 1: reason why I didn't play defense all right. Next up
- 16:42Speaker 1: Bobby Wagner thirteen tackles, one tackle for loss, one pass defended,
- 16:46Speaker 1: and it's like, this is a typical Bobby game. I
- 16:48Speaker 1: got sneaky thirteen right. There was nothing that that just
- 16:51Speaker 1: wild you. But he's always in the right place. He's
- 16:54Speaker 1: going to make the tackle, He's gonna get guys organized.
- 16:57Speaker 1: Bobby Wagner had another great game. We're getting spoiled mass
- 17:00Speaker 1: Did you see these these double digit tackle days from Bobby?
- 17:03Speaker 1: So I want to remind people don't take this for granted.
- 17:05Speaker 1: It's nice to see Bobby continue to be consistent. Absolutely,
- 17:09Speaker 1: Bobby Wagner is just like Russell Wilson is a first
- 17:12Speaker 1: ballot Hall of Famer, one of the best to do
- 17:14Speaker 1: it in his consistency, year in and year out, continues
- 17:17Speaker 1: to show on Sunday. And that's why fifty four is
- 17:19Speaker 1: team captain, and that's why he's one of the best
- 17:21Speaker 1: linebackers in the NFL always in All Pro and Pro Bowl.
- 17:24Speaker 1: Are so good to see Bobby out there, but the
- 17:26Speaker 1: young buck right next to him in his second year,
- 17:28Speaker 1: Jordan Brooks. He had another good day on Sunday. He
- 17:30Speaker 1: had eleven tackles and he was all over the field.
- 17:32Speaker 1: And the cool thing about him is what I noticed
- 17:35Speaker 1: about him is other than his speed and his physical
- 17:37Speaker 1: inn this is how good he's in coverage too. Man.
- 17:39Speaker 1: There's a couple of times where he's got to turn
- 17:41Speaker 1: and run with tight ends and running backs and he's
- 17:43Speaker 1: all over him. Man, Jordan Brooks is gonna have This
- 17:47Speaker 1: is a year he puts the league on notice. I
- 17:48Speaker 1: mentioned Marquise Blair in our first podcast. I think Jordan
- 17:51Speaker 1: Brooks in that same category. He's gonna play a lot
- 17:54Speaker 1: and he's gonna make people notice how good he is.
- 17:57Speaker 1: And here's the thing, Bump. He had eleven tackles and
- 17:58Speaker 1: he was tating with Cody Barton there in the second half.
- 18:01Speaker 1: So Jordan Brooks is gonna be a boss this year.
- 18:04Speaker 1: Love to see it. Love his physicality, love his speed
- 18:06Speaker 1: and his speed. Really this is what jumps off the
- 18:08Speaker 1: page for me. Yeah, I love the youth that Bobby
- 18:12Speaker 1: has around him. Right, you got Jordan Brooks, he got
- 18:15Speaker 1: Cody Barton. Taylor will drop down on the second level
- 18:18Speaker 1: at times. It's nice that Bobby is there to help
- 18:22Speaker 1: mint toward these kids and they're there to do some
- 18:25Speaker 1: of the dirty word. Where Bobby's a vet, you know
- 18:27Speaker 1: what I mean, Like he's gonna be strategic and when
- 18:29Speaker 1: he's gonna challenge these these linemen and really stick his
- 18:32Speaker 1: nose into the tackle, he goes, look, man, I got
- 18:34Speaker 1: the young but fifty six and fifty seven right next
- 18:36Speaker 1: to me, y'all go ahead and get it done, all right?
- 18:38Speaker 1: Speaking of young bucks, Darryl Taylor and Rashime Green. Darryl
- 18:42Speaker 1: Taylor had two tackles and his first career sack, which
- 18:45Speaker 1: was nasty. He kind of did kind of a receiver
- 18:47Speaker 1: release where he shift the tackle left and right, got
- 18:50Speaker 1: him off balance. Boom ran through him and lit Carson
- 18:53Speaker 1: wentz up and then Rashene Green man. He had a
- 18:56Speaker 1: great offseason, had a great preseason, and now his very
- 19:00Speaker 1: first opportunity to make it real. He proves us right.
- 19:03Speaker 1: Four tackles, one sack, two QB hits, one tackle for loss.
- 19:07Speaker 1: The youth movement is here. We got some old dogs
- 19:09Speaker 1: out there too, but the youth movement has a run,
- 19:12Speaker 1: and people forget how young Rashim Green is. Rashim Green
- 19:15Speaker 1: is still younger than our first or second round pick
- 19:18Speaker 1: dayne Eskridge right now, and he's in year four. And
- 19:21Speaker 1: the cool thing about Rashim is defensive line coach Clint
- 19:25Speaker 1: Hurt talked about he thought a light bulb went off
- 19:26Speaker 1: with Rahim that he's found at home in the position
- 19:28Speaker 1: he's at. And it's good to see great play in
- 19:31Speaker 1: the preseason transfer over to the regular season because I
- 19:33Speaker 1: know a lot of people out there are like, well,
- 19:35Speaker 1: I've seen this before, I've seen this before. Now you've
- 19:38Speaker 1: not seen this version of machine Green. He's gonna be
- 19:40Speaker 1: destined to have a big year and we'll see. Paul
- 19:42Speaker 1: Moyer was hoping, he said he'd have ten sacks or
- 19:44Speaker 1: something like that yesterday. So if Rashie Green has ten sacks,
- 19:48Speaker 1: it's going to be one hell of a year for
- 19:50Speaker 1: that defense. Bump. Yes, sir, let's get it going. All right,
- 19:54Speaker 1: let's talk about my favorite position. This is the wide receiver.
- 19:57Speaker 1: Round up, Okay, Tyler, I can lead the way. Four
- 20:00Speaker 1: reception is one hundred yards, two touchdowns along of sixty
- 20:04Speaker 1: nine NASA. If my math is correct, four one hundred
- 20:08Speaker 1: divided by four is twenty five. That's twenty five yards
- 20:11Speaker 1: per catch. This guy's out there balling four catches on
- 20:13Speaker 1: five targets. Dk metcalp six yards, four catches, one touchdown.
- 20:18Speaker 1: What I liked about that touchdown was just how smooth
- 20:22Speaker 1: and how effortless to look with his hands. We know
- 20:24Speaker 1: he's a big man, he's got hands. I'm not saying
- 20:26Speaker 1: the man can't catch. Obviously he can catch, but sometimes
- 20:29Speaker 1: it looks like he's strong with it. You know. I
- 20:31Speaker 1: wanted to smooth it out. That's what I saw. He
- 20:33Speaker 1: looks smooth. What it will Disley do? Will Disley? Three
- 20:36Speaker 1: receptions in thirty seven yards twelve point three per catch
- 20:40Speaker 1: along of twenty two on three targets, mister efficiency, three targets.
- 20:43Speaker 1: Love to see the tight ends involved. Last year we
- 20:45Speaker 1: were begging, pleading, to get these tight ends more involved
- 20:48Speaker 1: in the game plan. And Will Disley was all over that.
- 20:51Speaker 1: Below that Chris Carson, he got involved in receiving game
- 20:53Speaker 1: a little bit. Two at three receptions twenty six yards
- 20:56Speaker 1: on three targets. Again it's all about efficiency. And then bump,
- 20:59Speaker 1: we got another guy, Gerald Everett. Two receptions, twenty yards,
- 21:03Speaker 1: ten per catching. He had that nice touchdown. So the
- 21:05Speaker 1: tight ends are definitely a big part of this wide
- 21:07Speaker 1: receiving game. Here, tight ends, we're getting it done. We
- 21:10Speaker 1: had d Eskrez had one cash for six yards. He
- 21:12Speaker 1: got a little banged up, looked like he might be concussed.
- 21:14Speaker 1: We'll see what happened there. DJ Dallas had one for
- 21:17Speaker 1: five and my guy Freddy swayin one target, no catch.
- 21:20Speaker 1: But something tells me we're gonna see this guy eventually
- 21:23Speaker 1: get acclimated to this offense. Okay, I'll hand it to
- 21:26Speaker 1: it earlier. Let's go to the coaches corner breakdown. Tyler
- 21:29Speaker 1: Locket sixty nine yard touchdown, second down and twenty rush
- 21:32Speaker 1: steps up in the pocket and he's gonna let fly
- 21:34Speaker 1: deep downfield got him out open locking ten five stupples.
- 21:39Speaker 1: He's in touchdown. Seahawks on a second down and twenty
- 21:45Speaker 1: after a sack, Russell Wilson rears back and lets it
- 21:49Speaker 1: fly sixty nine yard touchdown, Tyler locking his second score
- 21:54Speaker 1: of the day. Holy catfish. This offense his explode. So
- 22:00Speaker 1: here's what happens. Nas offense come out in the two
- 22:03Speaker 1: by two formations, two receivers to the right, two receivers
- 22:06Speaker 1: to the left. We got will Disley in the slide
- 22:09Speaker 1: and I believe that is Freddie Sway in the slide
- 22:10Speaker 1: down below. Those guys run out. So what that does.
- 22:13Speaker 1: That's designed to hold the flat defender. Like, if you're
- 22:16Speaker 1: not gonna jump on these outs, we're gonna take a shot,
- 22:18Speaker 1: all right. You get Chris Carson who releases. He's an outlet.
- 22:21Speaker 1: That's what I like about this offense too, man, it
- 22:23Speaker 1: seems like there's always an outlet. Chris Carson was an
- 22:25Speaker 1: outlet here. Now let's focus on the outside receivers, okay,
- 22:28Speaker 1: from the wide birds, and it looks like DK and
- 22:31Speaker 1: Locket are just running goes right. But now when you
- 22:33Speaker 1: look at the bag view, you see that Tyler Lockett
- 22:37Speaker 1: runs a corner post. He gets the safety to commit
- 22:40Speaker 1: to the corner. He looks over his right shoulder, he
- 22:42Speaker 1: puts his right foot in the ground, snaps it back.
- 22:45Speaker 1: DK does a great job of holding the safety on
- 22:48Speaker 1: the other side with his goal, and now all Russell
- 22:50Speaker 1: has to do is toss it over the top. Sixteen
- 22:53Speaker 1: is sneaky fast, gets behind the defender. We all know
- 22:56Speaker 1: that Russell Wilson throws the best long ball in the NFL.
- 23:00Speaker 1: Fell great connection, sixty nine yard touchdown to sixteen. Gotta
- 23:04Speaker 1: love it too. And the thing about what I love
- 23:05Speaker 1: you said he ran a corner post. That's a really
- 23:07Speaker 1: incredibly tough route to defend as a safety, especially we're
- 23:09Speaker 1: gonna commit to it. And if you are going to
- 23:11Speaker 1: commit to it, the only way to get it out
- 23:12Speaker 1: of that is a speed turn. And when you open
- 23:14Speaker 1: one way and try to open back the other way,
- 23:16Speaker 1: you have no chance. Even if even if the safety
- 23:19Speaker 1: speed turns here, I still doesn't think gets there. But
- 23:21Speaker 1: if you open up one way and try to open
- 23:23Speaker 1: up the other way when Tyer Lockett is running right
- 23:25Speaker 1: at you, you have no chance at all. And he's
- 23:28Speaker 1: just a technician runner outs man. And what I love
- 23:30Speaker 1: about it is there's gonna be different elements of this offense,
- 23:35Speaker 1: and they're gonna be much better attacking two high stuff.
- 23:37Speaker 1: They're gonna have cover two beaters, you know, cover three beaters,
- 23:40Speaker 1: all that stuff. And with this guy Runner Outes and
- 23:42Speaker 1: Russell Wilson, who throws the best deep ball in the
- 23:44Speaker 1: National Football League bar none, not close, It's gonna be
- 23:47Speaker 1: really fun to watch. We need those cover two beaters
- 23:50Speaker 1: because cover two beaters last year. Yes, we had those
- 23:52Speaker 1: covered two beaters. The greatest formation in all the full
- 23:56Speaker 1: ball victory formation Eric the Seahawk offense onto the field
- 24:02Speaker 1: and the Vikings defense trudging out there knowing that one
- 24:06Speaker 1: kneel down and the Seahawks are gonna wind the clock
- 24:10Speaker 1: down and win this one. It's the victory formation on
- 24:13Speaker 1: Hawk Talk. Gotta love the victory formation is the best
- 24:16Speaker 1: formation in football. That means your team that you root
- 24:19Speaker 1: for is victorious. And um, we saw the beginning of
- 24:22Speaker 1: what could be a really special year for this team.
- 24:24Speaker 1: This offense is defense everyone involved in the organization. The
- 24:27Speaker 1: thing they jumped out to me the most is what
- 24:29Speaker 1: we saw from this offense. It has a ton of
- 24:32Speaker 1: potential and I think it could be one of the
- 24:33Speaker 1: best in the National Football League. And we're just at
- 24:36Speaker 1: the tip of the iceberg of what we think they're
- 24:38Speaker 1: capable of, and I cannot wait to see what Shan
- 24:41Speaker 1: Shane Waldron excuse me has up a sleeve for the
- 24:43Speaker 1: rest of the season. Lots of potential for this offense,
- 24:46Speaker 1: and it is all led by mister consistent, mister Tyler Lockett.
- 24:49Speaker 1: Like I mentioned, four catches one hundred yards. He just
- 24:53Speaker 1: makes plays and he's quiet about it, and I like
- 24:55Speaker 1: his approach. Man. I feel like, you know, we wore
- 24:58Speaker 1: the same number. I didn't wear it as good as he,
- 25:00Speaker 1: but if I could go back and do it again,
- 25:02Speaker 1: I'd want to be Tyler Locke. Man is like everything
- 25:04Speaker 1: that he brings to the table. And Russell Wilson, once
- 25:07Speaker 1: again the start of the season, he is in the
- 25:09Speaker 1: MVP conversation. Let's just keep this thing rolling. Like you said,
- 25:13Speaker 1: this is one week right, one down, seventeen to go,
- 25:17Speaker 1: but a great way to start it off. Absolutely and
- 25:20Speaker 1: on the defensive side, we can't pretend like they didn't
- 25:22Speaker 1: show up. They didn't unbelievably value, but they're incredibly efficient.
- 25:26Speaker 1: They held the Colts the new look offensive only sixteen
- 25:28Speaker 1: points and we're in control of the entire game. That
- 25:31Speaker 1: last touchdown they got it was twenty to ten, kind
- 25:33Speaker 1: of a garbage time touchdown. So this defense looked great.
- 25:35Speaker 1: The young guys are flashing Rahime Green, Jordan Brooks, we
- 25:38Speaker 1: know where're gonna get from, Bobby Wagner, Jamal Adams all
- 25:41Speaker 1: over the field, Quadric Diggs out there hitting people. The corners.
- 25:44Speaker 1: That's the one thing we didn't even get into it.
- 25:46Speaker 1: It's a good thing I mentioned before we get out
- 25:47Speaker 1: of here. The corners played well. You look at Carson Wentz,
- 25:50Speaker 1: his stats man. Everyone gets upset, and I'm just gonna
- 25:52Speaker 1: say this one time. Everything everyone gets upset when a
- 25:56Speaker 1: corner lets a ball get completed. You can't take away everything.
- 26:00Speaker 1: If the ball gas completed in front of Trey Flowers,
- 26:02Speaker 1: that does not mean he's bad at football. That doesn't
- 26:04Speaker 1: mean he sucks. He played good football yesterday. Same with
- 26:06Speaker 1: DJ Reid. They're kept everything in front. They gave up
- 26:09Speaker 1: no big plays, which is huge because they're the biggest
- 26:11Speaker 1: question mark for most coming into this game. So it's
- 26:14Speaker 1: good to see them play well. And I'm excited to
- 26:16Speaker 1: see what they do next week when you're talking the
- 26:18Speaker 1: preview podcast, because they're gonna have their hands or their
- 26:20Speaker 1: work cutout for him against those receivers down there, Yes
- 26:24Speaker 1: they are, and you know, great start to the season.
- 26:26Speaker 1: Now it's time to build on it. You got the
- 26:28Speaker 1: Titans coming into town to loomin Field. Twelves, get out there.
- 26:33Speaker 1: It is time to represent all right. That was Hawk
- 26:39Speaker 1: Talk Recap edition. I'm Michael Bambas. Wouldn't ask to Choby.
- 26:43Speaker 1: The Seahawks beat the Colts twenty eight to sixteen. We're
- 26:46Speaker 1: on the map. That offense looks good, that defense looks good.
- 26:49Speaker 1: Let's bring it back week two lists do it again. Man,
- 26:51Speaker 1: appreciate you guys taking time out your day to hollo
- 26:53Speaker 1: out us. We'll talk to you soon.
