- 0:00The spiritual seeker tends to struggle with the constant
- 0:03recurrence of old thoughts, feelings, reactions and desires.
- 0:09He is also constantly confronted by changes in his energy levels
- 0:13and focus. Much of this is due to the
- 0:16underlying and deeply embedded energies that he has inherited
- 0:20as part of human nature as it has been developed and
- 0:24manifested. Some of this is due to
- 0:27education, expectations and societal pressures that have
- 0:31helped shape his being in this lifetime.
- 0:35Another portion are due to the constant changing of the three
- 0:39gunas as they adjust their predominance from one moment to
- 0:42the next. And then there is a portion that
- 0:46is based in the complex interaction between the
- 0:50different parts of the being and their characteristic and varying
- 0:54from one another ways and modes of acting and reacting.
- 1:00As the seeker starts from the ego consciousness and the
- 1:03external personality, he may be somewhat overwhelmed and not
- 1:08truly appreciate either what is taking place within his
- 1:12psychological make up nor the way to resolve the issues.
- 1:17Thus, he may become confused, despondent, and dissatisfied
- 1:22with what he perceives to be a lack of progress or focus.
- 1:26As these constant variations arise within him, endless
- 1:31amounts of patience are required.
- 1:33As the seeker begins to appreciate the enormity of the
- 1:37work of transformation of human nature and the time frames and
- 1:42complexity involved in the process, he also needs to gain
- 1:47both an appreciation for and a continual focus on shifting the
- 1:52standpoint away from the external personality so that he
- 1:57can more and more shift the focus of the being away from
- 2:00external considerations. Stay in contact with the psychic
- 2:05being and thereby create and maintain the conscious link to
- 2:10the higher forces of consciousness that actually
- 2:13carry out the transformative changes that are required,
- 2:19Triorobindo writes Quote. These fluctuations in the force
- 2:24of the aspiration and the power of the sadhna are unavoidable
- 2:28and common to all Sadaks until the whole being has been made
- 2:32ready for the transformation. When the psychic is in front or
- 2:37active and the mind and vital consent.
- 2:40Then there is the intensity when the psychic is less prominent
- 2:45and the lower vital has its ordinary movements or the mind
- 2:50its ignorant action, then the opposing forces can come in,
- 2:54unless the sodic is very vigilant.
- 2:57Inertia comes usually from the ordinary physical consciousness,
- 3:02especially when the vital is not actively supporting the sadhna.
- 3:07These things can only be cured by a persistent bringing down of
- 3:10the higher spiritual consciousness into all the parts
- 3:14of the being. End Quote Reference Sri
