- 1:53[SPEAKER_01]: three of the biggest spiritual mistakes you could ever make now you know as well as I that we are very oh how should I put it familiar with making mistakes we are humanity we make mistakes all the time
- 2:12[SPEAKER_01]: in baseball, they call them airs.
- 2:16[SPEAKER_01]: In tennis, they're unforced airs.
- 2:18[SPEAKER_01]: Today, we're going to call them mistakes, though.
- 2:21[SPEAKER_01]: And not all of our mistakes are spiritual nature.
- 2:26[SPEAKER_01]: We can make physical mistakes.
- 2:28[SPEAKER_01]: We can smash our hand with a hammer, our thumb, with a hammer.
- 2:32[SPEAKER_01]: We can close our fingers in a door.
- 2:34[SPEAKER_01]: All these different types of things.
- 2:35[SPEAKER_01]: We can step on legos when we get up to get a drink of water in the middle of the night, a physical mistakes.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_01]: We can make a myriad of different errors or mistakes and sometimes we can make what I'll call verbal mistakes.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_01]: You haven't done that before.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_01]: Husbands, I'm sure.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_01]: You've never been put in a quandary.
- 2:55[SPEAKER_01]: You've never been put in a situation where your wife asks you a question and you're not sure how to get out of it without either egg on your face or a frying pan to the face.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_01]: My wife is a wonderful cook.
- 3:09[SPEAKER_01]: She does a great job and actually she was working on not that long ago.
- 3:13[SPEAKER_01]: She makes this pineapple cake that is just it's not technically a pineapple upside down cake, but it is just phenomenal problem is I told her she can only really make it when we have to go out and we're taking it to a friend's house or something that way I don't eat it all because if she just makes it for us it'll just slowly disappear you know from the fridge.
- 3:34[SPEAKER_01]: and that's not a good thing for me or my waistline and so she's a great cook but I remember it was about I don't know the first first year or so that we were married my wife as I said was doing a marvelous job and we were happily married still are by the way almost a dozen years in time flies when you are having fun but she was making some tomato soup
- 3:59[SPEAKER_01]: Now you gotta realize I love soup.
- 4:00[SPEAKER_01]: It's awesome, it's a liquid-y-type thing, and so I can eat so much of it without getting extremely full, you know?
- 4:07[SPEAKER_01]: I know, I have a problem with food we've talked about this before.
- 4:10[SPEAKER_01]: At some point in your future, my metabolism is going to shatter to a halt.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm doing my best to scrape together a little bit of discipline when it comes to food.
- 4:20[SPEAKER_01]: I've done well, but talking about it right now, I'm thinking on the great tomato soups I've had.
- 4:25[SPEAKER_01]: Think about it, a little bit of grilled cheese.
- 4:27[SPEAKER_01]: If you really want to kick a grilled cheese up a notch, put some pepperoni in there, I mean it's just next level stuff and my wife was making some great grilled cheese.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_01]: She was making some tomato soup and from what I understand, I'm no chef but from what I understand, you can take tomato soup.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_01]: If you want to make it a little creamier, you can add some dairy to it.
- 4:46[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if you'd normally use some you probably wouldn't use cool whip, you might not use sour cream, maybe use some milk, maybe
- 4:56[SPEAKER_01]: again, I'm no expert, I just enjoy the fruits of other people's labor, I enjoy eating the products other people make, but this day we were again a young couple, young married couple we didn't have a whole lot in the fridge, maybe she hadn't gone shopping a little while, which is a two of us, our girls weren't born yet and
- 5:14[SPEAKER_01]: So for some reason or another we had no dairy in the fridge and gone through a kick-up We were doing some dairy alternatives.
- 5:23[SPEAKER_01]: I know I know I don't know if it was soy milk or all milk Whatever it was and you can you can crucify me later on you can stone me bad decisions I I get it, but regardless we had almond milk in the fridge and she thought I'm gonna make it a little creamier And you're already thinking all man.
- 5:36[SPEAKER_01]: It's gonna be it's gonna be terrible.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_01]: There's almond milk in the in the title suit But that's not the reason that there is a problem
- 5:42[SPEAKER_01]: And the reason was because it was vanilla flavored almond milk and I'm sure I am just absolutely certain my wife will very much appreciate me sharing this story to our national international I should say.
- 5:58[SPEAKER_01]: radio family, but hey, it's reality.
- 6:01[SPEAKER_01]: This is what happens.
- 6:02[SPEAKER_01]: Young married couples in all series as we laugh about it now.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_01]: Anytime she makes something that for some reason doesn't slightly turn out, I said, hey, at least it's not tomato soup with vanilla.
- 6:12[SPEAKER_01]: I'll tell you what, of all the things that tomato soup needs vanilla is not one of them.
- 6:17[SPEAKER_01]: I dare you, I challenge you to make a tomato soup with vanilla in it, taste halfway decent.
- 6:24[SPEAKER_01]: I'll tell you what, that first
- 6:28[SPEAKER_01]: I took my grilled cheese, and I dipped it in the soup, and so I take that bite and anticipating this great, you know, creamy mouth feel and the, and the sandwich, the crispiness of that, got multiple textures going here that it cheese, and but there is this underlying wrongness, you know?
- 6:47[SPEAKER_01]: That was kind of in the background, but really it was in the foreground, it was just like smacking me in the face.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_01]: Something is not right, and I must have had the most
- 6:55[SPEAKER_01]: quizzical look on my face because my wife looks at me and says how's the soup?
- 7:01[SPEAKER_01]: And what follow?
- 7:03[SPEAKER_01]: I don't recall a precise what I said, but I would imagine it would fall under the category of a verbal mistake.
- 7:11[SPEAKER_01]: Now, I realize this is something of a humorous illustration, just a little bit of a story, maybe chuckle a little bit maybe you as a husband or wife you're remembering those times in your life.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_01]: I hope you are.
- 7:23[SPEAKER_01]: It's a good time and my wife and I still chuckle about it to this day, almost 10, 11, 12 years later.
- 7:29[SPEAKER_01]: But I think about that.
- 7:30[SPEAKER_01]: I think about the various mistakes I've made in my life.
- 7:33[SPEAKER_01]: During this week of broadcasts, I'll share a few more of mine with you.
- 7:38[SPEAKER_01]: My wife is probably done with me sharing her mistakes right now, but not all serious.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_01]: I'll share two, three, four of my personal mistakes over this week.
- 7:47[SPEAKER_01]: But I think about all this mistakes I've ever made.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_01]: Verbal, a physical, maybe even a emotional putting my hopes and dreams on something that I shouldn't have.
- 7:58[SPEAKER_01]: friend, I'll tell you what, there are some spiritual mistakes that I want to avoid or certainly not repeat because I am not immune to spiritual failures and I think back two times in my life that I've made spiritual mistakes and my hope in my prayer today is that we all include myself.
- 8:21[SPEAKER_01]: We can learn something that will be a help to us, help us avoid some of these spiritual mistakes.
- 8:29[SPEAKER_01]: Tomorrow, we're going to really unpack the first one, but I want to give an introduction to the first Bible character that we're going to look at as it pertains to spiritual.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_01]: Mistakes go to first King's chapter 15.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_01]: First King's 15th verse number 8, the Bible says this, and a bi-jum slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city of David.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_01]: And Aisa, his son, reigned in his stead, and in the 20th year of Jeroboam, King of Israel, reigned Aisa over Judah.
- 9:01[SPEAKER_01]: and 40 and one year's ranked he in Jerusalem had a long reign, and his mother's name was Mecca, the daughter of Abbas Shalom, and Assa did that which was right in the eyes of the Lord.
- 9:18[SPEAKER_01]: As did David, his father, now not his actual physical father, but you realize many times, Genealogy's in the Bible will refer to four fathers as a father, and he ace took away the son of mine's out of the land and removed all the idols that his fathers had made.
- 9:36[SPEAKER_01]: What a wonderful testimony, Acea has, what a legacy, and you know how it is at funerals.
- 9:44[SPEAKER_01]: Oftentimes we look at the highlights of someone's life.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_01]: They could have been an absolute jerk around the dinner table, but we'll say, oh, they were so very, they were nice to their dog, you know?
- 9:56[SPEAKER_01]: But the reality we know that reality itself isn't shown through a ulogy.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe we pick the
- 10:03[SPEAKER_01]: highlights, and here we have a little bit of a highlight of Ace's life 41 years.
- 10:09[SPEAKER_01]: Did that which was right in the eyes of the Lord, but there were some things that he did that weren't right.
- 10:15[SPEAKER_01]: And we're going to look at those tomorrow on the broadcast, but as we unpack this idea of spiritual mistakes, my desire, my goal, my hope, and my aim for you, is that you will make sure
- 10:29[SPEAKER_01]: that you will pause, that you will take inventory of your life and how you, how you approach spiritual mistakes.
- 10:42[SPEAKER_01]: Do you approach spiritual mistakes with the desire to learn from them, to overcome them, and to not return it to them in the future?
- 10:54[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to use Jesus, of course, as an example for us tomorrow on a broadcast and we're going to ask that question what would Jesus do, but I want you to pause from moment and think back on spiritual mistakes you've made.
- 11:09[SPEAKER_01]: I would think, if you're anything like me, maybe you don't have to look too far back in your memory, maybe it's in a recent days.
- 11:22[SPEAKER_01]: I wonder when was the last time we really communed with God?
- 11:26[SPEAKER_01]: When was the last time we really gave him his do?
- 11:31[SPEAKER_01]: Wanna talk about that?
- 11:33[SPEAKER_01]: The three biggest spiritual mistakes.
- 11:37[SPEAKER_01]: you could possibly ever make.
- 11:39[SPEAKER_01]: And we're also going to look at a little bit how to avoid them.
- 11:42[SPEAKER_01]: It's bad enough that we have to look at these mistakes.
- 11:46[SPEAKER_01]: Let's bring some encouragement to it as well and find out how we can do better and overcome them in the future.
- 11:53[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you so very much for tuning in.
- 11:56[SPEAKER_01]: I'd ask you to use Asa's life.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_01]: This king we're going to talk about uses life as a warning.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe people will say nice things about us at our funeral, but I'd like to know.
- 12:07[SPEAKER_01]: I'd like to be assured that at least a few of those things are true.
- 12:12[SPEAKER_01]: What will be said of us when it comes to spiritual mistakes tomorrow?
- 12:18[SPEAKER_01]: We're gonna look at the first spiritual mistake that we can make my prayer as always is simply this That you have a great day for his glory.
- 12:30[SPEAKER_01]: My whole my desires that you'll join me again tomorrow As we continue this series on the three biggest spiritual mistakes you could ever make
