- 1:06Speaker 2: breaks down the Gurbani world, as we say, very knowledgeable
- 1:13Speaker 2: and does an amazing job of connecting it really does.

- 1:34Speaker 2: and he has been really laying it on thick for
- 1:37Speaker 2: all the people that were involved in that hole palm
- 1:40Speaker 2: me on fiasco that went down at the knagarkitin out
- 1:45Speaker 2: in Vancouver, caught the headlines, of course, of the sick
- 1:50Speaker 2: community worldwide, and it's been much Ado, it really has.
- 1:57Speaker 2: And he will stop by just to chit chat with me,
- 2:00Speaker 2: see what's going on out there in the scene. This
- 2:03Speaker 2: show follows me every morning on the show. Got some
- 2:09Speaker 2: great music for you. And one thing I've noticed about
- 2:13Speaker 2: the great music happening out there is that the album
- 2:19Speaker 2: is still working. The body of work is still a thing.
- 2:25Speaker 2: There's a concept to it, and I think it needs
- 2:28Speaker 2: to be celebrated. But most importantly, it should also be
- 2:32Speaker 2: pointed out that the big artist is still putting out
- 2:34Speaker 2: EPs and albums, and you hear artists out there say no,
- 2:39Speaker 2: it's about singles. I don't know about that. We're gonna
- 2:44Speaker 2: start it off with this song called Aroma from the
- 2:47Speaker 2: album of the Week, Til Jeep and True School.
- 3:02Speaker 5: A Pianni Bardi Yah, good bye, try the trap.
- 3:08Speaker 6: You mean that.
- 3:11Speaker 4: You have to operate?
- 3:13Speaker 7: Can you turn?
- 3:15Speaker 8: I don't, Dad, I have to corporate? Can you can?
- 3:19Speaker 7: You don't.
- 3:21Speaker 6: Have to coporate.
- 3:31Speaker 8: The track?
- 3:34Speaker 2: I'll lack the a Lissa.
- 3:35Speaker 5: Hu Cana all abord, the candy cut out, I'm Dada'll
- 3:42Speaker 5: give me.
- 3:43Speaker 9: What my.
- 3:45Speaker 6: Oh, then you care about to pay something that getta
- 3:51Speaker 6: try to trap? You mean to perate? Call you can Canada?
- 3:56Speaker 6: I don't, daddy, I'm to corporate.
- 3:59Speaker 8: Can you tang.
- 4:02Speaker 10: To trap?
- 4:06Speaker 2: The cat?
- 4:11Speaker 6: My trap back.
- 4:26Speaker 2: An tank along with body Boody Jack and yeah, let
- 4:30Speaker 2: to give me.
- 4:30Speaker 11: The pack by y'all.
- 4:31Speaker 5: I'm just come around back yet? Do I tell you
- 4:39Speaker 5: prod you got out on your.
- 4:44Speaker 7: Track?
- 4:46Speaker 6: The track to corporate?
- 4:48Speaker 8: Tell you do.
- 4:51Speaker 2: Turn?
- 4:52Speaker 7: Don't old want to corporate? Tell you t.
- 5:22Speaker 2: The album is called the Call of Punjab as we
- 5:25Speaker 2: honor the album here today and still the album or
- 5:30Speaker 2: the EP, whatever you want to call it, still means
- 5:33Speaker 2: so much to not only the artist, but also to
- 5:37Speaker 2: the overall narrative that an artist is putting out. One
- 5:40Speaker 2: of the things that I think dil G did on
- 5:42Speaker 2: that Call of Punjab album is he took his sound
- 5:45Speaker 2: back to a very traditional place that he had not
- 5:47Speaker 2: done so in a while. He's dropping like disco beats
- 5:51Speaker 2: and stuff like that before. So this is great. It's
- 5:54Speaker 2: great to see dil Git work with a producer on
- 5:57Speaker 2: an entire album together. Give you another reason as to
- 6:01Speaker 2: why an album is so powerful. This is from chapter
- 6:04Speaker 2: four shops, play.
- 6:06Speaker 12: Again down the condy there Jack Harley, a friendly bark
- 6:18Speaker 12: back over a company a company please?
- 6:25Speaker 10: No why.
- 6:29Speaker 12: Like God dampening go bad? You pooka knocking up a
- 6:34Speaker 12: buck in a bagony, I'm gonna pay lock it up.
- 6:37Speaker 6: They can age room.
- 6:39Speaker 11: Damn Jack.
- 6:44Speaker 12: A big Bret, big fla David.
- 6:54Speaker 6: Hardy and a man a.
- 7:11Speaker 12: Tabactually that could be guitar. No, no, that could be
- 7:19Speaker 12: wait nor again now the ham.
- 7:27Speaker 8: There go jump friendly bucket.
- 7:53Speaker 2: Yeah. This this approach is a little bit different on
- 7:55Speaker 2: this album. The album called Chapter four four songs should
- 7:59Speaker 2: uses four different producers, but it's about his narrative and
- 8:02Speaker 2: it's about his story of him reaching his fourth body
- 8:06Speaker 2: of work. So there's that. Here's that. Molch you're sor reveal.
- 8:13Speaker 13: You're here, but your eyes on the sea, your body
- 8:22Speaker 13: from my Yeah.
- 8:24Speaker 14: You plickas with love. Yeah, you plickings with love until
- 8:29Speaker 14: it's God. You never get to know, You never get
- 8:35Speaker 14: to know for what you want. I'm must looking at
- 8:39Speaker 14: your side, please face to face with your lips and
- 8:43Speaker 14: mike kind of legs on.
- 8:45Speaker 15: The pilcase sidewise said, or not with your love lane

- 10:49Speaker 15: A mike and a Lexi sufcase sidewise.
- 10:54Speaker 6: Enough with the love line next to mow hamas.
- 10:58Speaker 4: Seeking rich.
- 11:01Speaker 2: The song called Sideways. And of course Zen's dealing with
- 11:07Speaker 2: some publicity out there, and there's been some reports as
- 11:09Speaker 2: to him being hospitalized, but we're not sure about that yet,
- 11:13Speaker 2: but we know that there's been reports of Zen Malik
- 11:17Speaker 2: Lewis Tomlinson box out Let's just call It in which
- 11:21Speaker 2: Louis Tomlinson was injured. So I don't know what happened there,
- 11:23Speaker 2: but nevertheless, he just put out a Zen Malic just
- 11:27Speaker 2: put out a brand new album called Conna Call, so
- 11:29Speaker 2: go check that out. Here's doctor Roy for you.

- 12:58Speaker 2: on the Avenue there. Today's episode is an interesting one.
- 13:02Speaker 2: It's about albums and the importance of the album. Still
- 13:05Speaker 2: to this day, one of the places that Indian music
- 13:08Speaker 2: has been deeply rooted in the concept of an album
- 13:12Speaker 2: has been the soundtrack it's where they have done it
- 13:15Speaker 2: so well. However, over the years that is even fragmented
- 13:19Speaker 2: to a certain extent. This Durunder soundtrack kind of brings
- 13:23Speaker 2: it all back together again. Here's the song firs from
- 13:27Speaker 2: Arijit and shushwat.
- 13:30Speaker 10: Do do not.

- 18:53Speaker 2: It's one of those songs. I have a hard time
- 18:54Speaker 2: finding someplace to fade out at remarkable work. And I
- 18:59Speaker 2: think we're gonna remember that song for a very long time.
- 19:02Speaker 2: The song is called fifth. What did you saying? What

- 21:36Speaker 2: there from raf Sepera. This next song I'm about to
- 21:40Speaker 2: play for you really captures the essence of an album
- 21:43Speaker 2: well because it captures almost somebody's trip to India, the
- 21:47Speaker 2: whole thing, if you will. And he put the songs

- 32:14Speaker 2: week for you? What's up? Dj geat Hey Sanley?
- 32:18Speaker 37: So this week I went with the song Wow from
- 32:21Speaker 37: the new movie Henjeaw Honny the Ishkonahe and it comes
- 32:26Speaker 37: out me twenty second and honestly, I'm loving it. Dunchbuckshee
- 32:31Speaker 37: the composer, he put this together so well, and I
- 32:34Speaker 37: mean this guy is Bollywood worlty. At this point, you
- 32:38Speaker 37: also have Hardy Sandhu and get In Badua on the vocals,
- 32:41Speaker 37: and they make such a good pair. Their voices are
- 32:45Speaker 37: so balanced, and the song itself balances fusion of South
- 32:48Speaker 37: Asian beats and electronic music. It definitely makes you want
- 32:53Speaker 37: to put your dancing shoes on. You know something I
- 32:56Speaker 37: love about New South Asian music specifically, is that they're
- 33:00Speaker 37: becoming very diverse in the areas of music such as
- 33:03Speaker 37: fusion of Latin beats and afrobeats and electronic beats.
- 33:07Speaker 4: So let me know what you think.
- 33:09Speaker 37: Back to you, Sammy, thank you so much.
- 33:11Speaker 2: DJ gets here's the track for you.

- 35:47Speaker 2: is called Wow, brand new film music by and Folks.

- 35:58Speaker 8: Laudy Pa, did you got to say?
- 36:22Speaker 5: Oh that costy leader, I'll see cutire lookada, Oh the
- 36:27Speaker 5: curty leader.

- 36:33Speaker 5: sad that dumba pordy not to put the kay leggy?

- 38:55Speaker 2: a booney like in a Caiana.
- 39:00Speaker 6: Read them.
- 39:17Speaker 38: Through school and Liljit collaboration called truck and taking us
- 39:21Speaker 38: back to the base, back to basics album from a
- 39:24Speaker 38: number of years ago, And folks, as we are talking
- 39:26Speaker 38: about this big topic on our episode today.
- 39:29Speaker 2: It is the actual institution of the EP in the
- 39:33Speaker 2: album and how it's not disappearing from the periphery of
- 39:37Speaker 2: the music industry. In fact, the most successful artist is
- 39:40Speaker 2: still employing it. What do you think? What's up? Welcome
- 39:43Speaker 2: to the show.
- 39:44Speaker 10: What you know?
- 39:45Speaker 9: I feel like in the hip hop world, the album
- 39:48Speaker 9: has died, like that's something that's very regularly spoken about.
- 39:53Speaker 9: But I think in the Punjabi world it's funny because
- 39:56Speaker 9: it's almost like a reverse model. Where coming up in
- 39:59Speaker 9: the twenty ten and there was a lot of singles, yeah,
- 40:02Speaker 9: and the album wasn't like a big big deal like
- 40:06Speaker 9: of course Bubumano drop albums and you know Bill Vita
- 40:09Speaker 9: Songs had like albums. But like I remember, there was
- 40:12Speaker 9: a slew of singles from a lot of artists. But
- 40:15Speaker 9: now it's like the art of the album, right, you know,
- 40:18Speaker 9: Ap Carnage, Bill Jet, of course Grinder Gill, Like everyone's
- 40:24Speaker 9: now like getting into the album world.
- 40:27Speaker 2: And I think.
- 40:29Speaker 9: It's a lost art for sure for like hip hop,
- 40:32Speaker 9: but it's like now being discovered in our arena in
- 40:34Speaker 9: the Punjabi South Asian music world, where it's it's like
- 40:40Speaker 9: can you craft an experience for your fans. Yeah, and
- 40:45Speaker 9: I think that's something that we are now seeing for sure.
- 40:48Speaker 2: Yeah, I would like to see more out of the album.
- 40:52Speaker 2: Even though a lot of the Punjabi artists and Indian
- 40:54Speaker 2: artists are kind of you know, adopting the model of
- 40:57Speaker 2: the album and putting out you know, four to ten
- 41:00Speaker 2: songs out at a time, all four to eight nine
- 41:02Speaker 2: songs out at a time, I still feel that there's
- 41:05Speaker 2: something missing here. And the thing that I feel that
- 41:07Speaker 2: they're missing is this effect of a body of work
- 41:11Speaker 2: being themed in some sort of way, that there is
- 41:14Speaker 2: some sort of story or an arc to it or whatever.
- 41:16Speaker 2: Right now, I still feel that, you know, these artists
- 41:19Speaker 2: are slapping an album cover together, calling it something cool,
- 41:22Speaker 2: and then just congregating a few songs in there together
- 41:25Speaker 2: and calling it an album. I'm not sure if that's
- 41:28Speaker 2: the true spirit of the collection of work or what.
- 41:30Speaker 31: Yeah.
- 41:31Speaker 9: No, there's no like EBB and Full, like we haven't
- 41:33Speaker 9: hit that stride of like concept album, Like we're not
- 41:36Speaker 9: even there yet where you know, like like again, like
- 41:39Speaker 9: hip hop has had the blueprint, which is why I've
- 41:41Speaker 9: said on the show my show, which is like you know,
- 41:44Speaker 9: they're copying hip hop and every other regard except crafting
- 41:47Speaker 9: amazing album. But in the last ten years, no offense
- 41:50Speaker 9: to anybody, but there hasn't been a single album that
- 41:53Speaker 9: was like whoa front to back or just like a
- 41:56Speaker 9: very like it was a moment in time. The only
- 41:58Speaker 9: one I can kind of think of was the PBX
- 42:02Speaker 9: one Vice to Do. I feel like there's so much
- 42:05Speaker 9: like a buzz around that because he was on a
- 42:07Speaker 9: hot streak and then some of those singles were leaking
- 42:11Speaker 9: and the whole deal with T series became like a thing,
- 42:14Speaker 9: and PBX one came out, a lot of people were
- 42:17Speaker 9: listening to it like he did it really like, you know,
- 42:21Speaker 9: in that hip hop fashion. But again that that album
- 42:25Speaker 9: just again, just no one has dropped that classic album
- 42:28Speaker 9: with everyone from jub world. It's just like, holy have
- 42:30Speaker 9: you heard this? Like it has the singles, it has
- 42:33Speaker 9: the b sides, like people are just falling in love
- 42:36Speaker 9: with it. It's more so and I think this is
- 42:38Speaker 9: just the consumer mind has changed in general, where it's
- 42:42Speaker 9: about singles, you know, and then people slap on forty
- 42:47Speaker 9: tracks on their album just so that they could do
- 42:49Speaker 9: the stream thing. So I mean, yeah, it's a it's
- 42:53Speaker 9: an art, right, like when we did Surrey Side Sippin
- 42:56Speaker 9: it was it was like an art to it. And
- 42:59Speaker 9: I mean for mixtape at that time, for how it's
- 43:03Speaker 9: a mixtape that you would get confused.
- 43:04Speaker 17: That this is an album.
- 43:05Speaker 9: I guess it was clearly because again there's a lot
- 43:08Speaker 9: that goes into it, right, the ebbs and flows, the
- 43:10Speaker 9: energy how you start right, skits or interludes, and then
- 43:14Speaker 9: the storyline or like the B side, the and and
- 43:18Speaker 9: really the part about the album is supposed to a
- 43:21Speaker 9: body of work that tells us about you the artists. Yeah,
- 43:24Speaker 9: not that the collection of songs like co just the
- 43:26Speaker 9: singles put together right, and that's I think, Well a
- 43:29Speaker 9: lot of these got are missing out on correct.
- 43:32Speaker 2: I feel that's that's the case. There is really not
- 43:35Speaker 2: much you know, in fact, if anything, this latest album
- 43:39Speaker 2: by the True School was about the thematic as a
- 43:44Speaker 2: project has gotten it in a while, just because the
- 43:46Speaker 2: production of True School being so distinct, right or you know,
- 43:49Speaker 2: but just projects like this, right when you get one
- 43:52Speaker 2: producer together with one artist and they get together and
- 43:55Speaker 2: they do the whole project together, you know, Ikey and
- 43:57Speaker 2: gut and being another one to me that's the closest
- 44:00Speaker 2: we've seen. But I think there's still another step to
- 44:03Speaker 2: be taken, e And I hope the Pinzelbi music in
- 44:05Speaker 2: Indian music makes that step.
- 44:07Speaker 9: And I can agree. I think yeah, again, like there's
- 44:10Speaker 9: another step to be taking, another move to be made
- 44:13Speaker 9: that we won't know until Again, it's just gonna be.
- 44:17Speaker 9: It's just going to be the right type of team
- 44:19Speaker 9: in place, right. You hear those stories like Doctor Dre
- 44:21Speaker 9: or The Riza or whatever when they make albums like
- 44:23Speaker 9: they just have. There's a lot of right people in
- 44:26Speaker 9: the right place, in the right rooms.
- 44:28Speaker 2: Yeah, at one Yeah, And that's part of it. It's
- 44:32Speaker 2: the consistency of the people that are curating the project
- 44:35Speaker 2: or overseeing it and they leave the footprint on it.
- 44:38Speaker 2: And I think that's really part of it missing. And again,
- 44:41Speaker 2: we can go into the actual, you know, the finer
- 44:45Speaker 2: details of the music industry and start talking about the
- 44:47Speaker 2: lack of infrastructure around the A and R and the
- 44:49Speaker 2: lack of infrastructure around the artist ecosystem of that nature
- 44:53Speaker 2: of putting projects and curating things. But we'll save that
- 44:56Speaker 2: for another day. E Yes, sir, we will great hanging
- 45:01Speaker 2: out with you, my man, You too, have a blessed day.
- 45:04Speaker 9: Unto all the listeners tuning in, Yeah.
- 45:07Speaker 2: Thanks so much. We'll hang out after the show and
- 45:10Speaker 2: check out your show. Looking forward to it.

- 50:23Speaker 2: That's a really good album. By the way, if you

- 51:47Speaker 2: some great work, a lot of it of course coming
- 51:50Speaker 2: from bodies of work, and one of the producers that's
- 51:54Speaker 2: really been driving Pulvinder Sound is a producer by the
- 51:57Speaker 2: name of NDS. Here's Duta Dasgupta.
- 52:00Speaker 7: Thanks Sammy.
- 52:01Speaker 41: Hey everyone, this is Irokasavenue Radio music correspondent back with
- 52:05Speaker 41: some fun facts about your favorite artists. Let's talk about Ndias,
- 52:09Speaker 41: the beat maker quietly redefining Punjabi R and B. He's
- 52:13Speaker 41: the main architect band Tholwin. There's debut album Misfit, a
- 52:16Speaker 41: thirteen track journey produced entirely by NDS. That's right, one producer,
- 52:21Speaker 41: one vibe, one cohesive world. Fast forward to twenty twenty
- 52:25Speaker 41: five and Ndias is still in the studio Magic Zone
- 52:28Speaker 41: Enter has seen a lush R and B track feature
- 52:31Speaker 41: Ripe Grow all the shows just how far he's pushing genre.
- 52:34Speaker 41: And let's not forget Punji, the recent release Bettlwinder and NDS.
- 52:39Speaker 41: If you're vibing on music that's melodic yet experimental, expressive
- 52:43Speaker 41: yet grounded, you need to check out NDS. He doesn't
- 52:47Speaker 41: just create beats, he crafts emotions. Well that's all for me.
- 52:51Speaker 41: Now back to you, Sammy, thank you Doita.
- 52:53Speaker 2: This song is called tunnel Vision. It's from the album
- 52:56Speaker 2: Misfit NBS and Telvinder.
- 53:14Speaker 42: Yeah, Joy telling him all then in the Joys only

- 53:55Speaker 8: Are they?
- 53:56Speaker 6: Kiss ub.
- 54:17Speaker 3: It's done in Couja nikoja blini coja right on mything.
- 54:27Speaker 3: He called Yong Suppanton butcher suppantoon, but younger.
- 54:37Speaker 6: Holy call it, he said, don't yonder.

- 55:59Speaker 6: Look get.
- 56:10Speaker 4: It?
- 56:10Speaker 6: Just didn't it?
- 56:33Speaker 2: Great song? One of my favorites there from Tilvender. It
- 56:36Speaker 2: was one of our top songs of the year in
- 56:38Speaker 2: twenty twenty four. The song is called tunnel Vision. It's
- 56:41Speaker 2: from the album called Misfit Svender And yes, you know
- 56:47Speaker 2: the algorithm wanted us to forget how to sit with
- 56:51Speaker 2: twelve songs in a row, Njabi music didn't. The reason
- 56:55Speaker 2: these artists are building real narrative weight should Chapter by
- 57:00Speaker 2: after the Project by Project Ap with his brown Print
- 57:04Speaker 2: album is because they trusted the audience could still hold
- 57:08Speaker 2: the body of work to its head. The most rebellious
- 57:11Speaker 2: thing in twenty twenty six music is to drop ten
- 57:14Speaker 2: songs at once and ask people to listen to them
- 57:17Speaker 2: in order that algorithm gives you reach. The album gives
- 57:21Speaker 2: you weight, job picked weight. That's why Punjabi music is
- 57:26Speaker 2: succeeding today. This song right here is my last of
- 57:30Speaker 2: the day. It's benjab bimc. The song is called jat
- 57:35Speaker 2: Togia Should I Be and it's from one of my
- 57:36Speaker 2: favorite favorite albums called Legalized. Have a great Day, Everybody,
- 57:41Speaker 2: I'll see you tomorrow.
- 58:01Speaker 6: Woulda thinking it?
- 58:02Speaker 36: Gip?
- 58:02Speaker 2: Why didn't do a.
- 58:05Speaker 10: Wood?
- 58:05Speaker 31: Thinking it?
- 58:06Speaker 35: Jiplia wool pink jip?
- 58:30Speaker 31: Where are you saying?
- 58:39Speaker 6: Okay dhalla? Do my tymp mine?
- 58:43Speaker 7: Not you boy?
- 58:47Speaker 31: Mine, not you boy not? I said, mother, don't want
- 59:11Speaker 31: to funk man?
- 59:13Speaker 6: Yanna thought it?
- 59:14Speaker 31: They do the car man ya about it? Many yare
- 59:21Speaker 31: about it?
- 59:42Speaker 6: Money don't I do? Don't you say no mine? Do
- 59:46Speaker 6: you take your hand?
- 59:47Speaker 10: No?
- 59:47Speaker 2: He might say, But I get done?
- 59:51Speaker 7: O got it?
- 59:52Speaker 6: Marry nothing?
- 59:55Speaker 34: They about money, got a man
