- Ted Turner: What's up everyone. Welcome to Dogs Down South. It's been a while since, since I heard that intro and, ⁓ man, it's been a while since we've been on the month of February has come and gone. We're going to do our best to catch up, play catch up, but it's a well needed little time off, man. I mean, as a Georgia fan, you know, they take you through the ups and downs, man. Like if you didn't take a month off, like your blood pressure medicine would probably be increasing every year. So here we are, man. What's up fish? are you, man? What's up, man? Good. Good. Glad to be here. Just getting over some, how's your, ⁓ how's your, what do we call this sabbatical? How's it been, man? It's been great, man. It's been productive. Actually get out in the yard. Yeah. right. Yard work. Yeah. Yard work's better. about, yeah. Yard work probably better than the crud. We were talking about it before we came on, man, the crud. It's like, we don't really know, man. It was COVID 2020. 2021, it was a new strand of COVID, 2022 was the flu. were back to the flu. 2023, was a new strand of the flu. Now 2024, 25 is just the crud again. So at 2026, are we back to COVID? I hope not. But, uh, wow, man, we're going to try our best, man, to just catch up on a lot of stuff, talk about a lot of things, but man, let's hop in. This is probably old news to a lot, but like, I would just love to bring. a fresh new take of this because I have bantered about it. have, I've just, you know, I've, I sent a TikTok video out to my TikTok followers about this, but TrinidadChambers, right? TrinidadChambers is now, ⁓ looks like in the driver's seat, right? For his six year of eligibility, right? ⁓ so fish are out of the box. Like what caught you about this? Like what is. I mean, for me, the biggest thing I'm going to compare it to is, is, all right, now you've based this on, you know, tonsillitis and, you know, Juco's not counting and you're just opening the doors wide open. But what was your first thoughts when you heard Trinidad Chambliss was going to be able to receive another year and play for Ole Miss this year? mean, I don't know. mean, they're, they're, mean, I know they're getting paid and they're technically professional athletes, but I mean, he's going to, I mean, what's he going to be 30, you know? Before he's done playing, is he going to file for another year next year and get it because of some technicality, some fluke, throw the judge the right amount of money, you know? And it says another thing, the NCAA obviously is, I don't even know what their, point of that is anymore. You know, if they make a ruling and then you can go to a state, like a local court and get a ruling that vetoes the NCAA ruling, like then what in the hell is the NCAA? Like what good are they anymore? You know? I mean, I don't know. I think it sucks. Honestly, I'm not even saying, Hey, good for him. I'm like, no, this is stupid. mean, you, the NCAA is trying to bring the government in to make decisions and they have their hands full enough as it is. Right. So, I mean, they, they don't get a lot right on a daily. I mean, but so we're going to bring them into college football and we're going to, we're going to help get that right. Like it's just going to make it. It's going to work there somehow. Yeah, man. So, so you, so you go out. To the middle of nowhere, right? ⁓ I mean, just the middle of nowhere. forget, I dropped a video on this and it's been so long since I dropped the video. I forget the name of the city, but that just goes to show you how, how well known the city is. think the population, by the time they brought in all of the, all of the sports writers and lawyers and ⁓ they had teachers and professors and I mean, I damn near think they had, I'm not, if I'm remembering correctly, I might've had some spirit buses go out there. And I mean, they doubled the population. mean, apparently there's a little breakfast place across the street that got more business than they've gotten the past five years that day. And you go out there and I mean, it was just a freaking hoax, man. Like apparently the, the, the, one of the lawyers asked on under oath, under oath, you know, do you think that that Miami. You know, the Miami play, the final play was pass interference. I were under oath, man. Like, you know, of course, Trinidad is like, eh, you know what, but it's like, it just goes to show you like what the joke that we're dealing with the, the, the, Dutch cried on the stand. What are we crying about, dude? Like, we're talking about eligibility here. Not like, he's my French, but like robbers and murderers. Like, what are we like, what are we doing? Like. And then he gets it. And then here we are. And you know, Ole Miss fans will plead up and down with, well, Georgia's scared of Trinidad, Chambliss. You know, he took you to the woodshed and the playoffs and so what's the. Yeah. It's nothing about that. It's just about the game, right? What are we doing? Here's my thing. I'll ask you this question. So here's question, you know, Matthew Stafford is the MVP of the NFL last year, right? He's got some eligibility left at Georgia. When he can't spin it anymore in the, in the pros, can he come grab that last year? There's no age limit. There's no age limit. The punter for TCU when we played him in the national championship game was like 27. Like people make their jokes about Stetson Bennett being old man. There was a punter on that other team that was way older than Stetson. There's no age restriction. It's going to happen. It might not be in this, you know, Matthew Staffer, but it's going to happen. Fish. Like you're, we're going to see some crazy mess. Like I'm just thinking man of like track. Here's one for you, Aaron Rogers. mean, he's, he's gone, he's gone everywhere after he left green Bay to try to carve his ending out. He's got to stop. I mean, tarnishing his legacy. Where'd he, where did he play college ball? That was it? Was it wake wake? Cal Cal. I don't think wake for us. So can he just go back to Cal for all time sake and, like write the record book straight and win a national championship and be like, there you go. It's like him and Marshawn Lynch. Hey man, Marshawn Lynch, because he went to Cal too. I mean, they could go back for their senior years. I just don't understand it, man. I don't understand how, and there's a lot that went on around this. Obviously, ⁓ Joey Aguilar, I think I thought he was, I thought he was, you know, inches away from another year, right? Everybody was assuming it was going to happen. I think even Tennessee might have lost out on this situation because I think they thought it was going to happen. And now here they are sitting here with the possibility with Aguilar coming up as, okay, we think we have maybe 10 wins in the bag this year, nine or 10. Because, know, we got Jim Knowles coming in from Penn State via, you know, Ohio State. Maybe we correct the defense. Josh Hyple has always been able to put up points regardless of who the quarterback is. But I think they thought they had 10 wins in the bag that gets them in the playoff. But now you look back and you're going to like McIntyre or a true freshman. And do I think that. You know, Hypo can put up points, but I think it takes them from maybe 10 wins to make more like an eight win, you know, prediction type thing. But like that hurt them, right? They put all their, they put all their eggs. They weren't even looking for a quarterback in the, in the portal. ⁓ and then not having that spring portal has put pressure on the NCAA as well, not to drag these things out, but, this is just, it's just crazy, man. Like I think this is really going to tarnish as if the portal hasn't tarnished the game enough. Now we have. these guys who stand a chance to make three, four or $5 million, which is more money than they make. They may make coming into the NFL as a late third, fourth, fifth round pick and to buff their draft stock, which is great. I'm all about keeping juniors and seniors in college football. Like that's great. That's a win. would much rather that's going to, that's going to create a better environment. That's going to create better Saturdays. ⁓ it's kind of like what you have in with college basketball. Like there's some guys that have. You know, been there, like there's a gallon, uh, Yukon's team, caravan. He's a senior this year. I remember watching him play like four and a half, like five years ago. And like when he was a freshman, like I tuned into a game the other night and I saw he was still playing. I'm like, Whoa, you just don't get that with college football, dude. I mean, and then there's a joke. mean, I don't know if I'm pronouncing the game, the guy's name, right. But I think it's been IACO from Alabama, the kid that came and played for like 12 days. One four games for Alabama. decided he couldn't cut it in the G league and says, you know what? just think I want my college education comes take some NIL money plays four games and Alabama got better when he left. Like he literally came back. They, I think they split maybe two, three, and one, two and two. Right. They get, they get better, but like, bro, he, what is that? You can go to the G league and then just be like, man, I suck. I signed. Maybe I just didn't. just didn't need that last year in college football. me college baseball, basketball. I don't get it, man. The portal is jacked up. I will tell you this, ⁓ for Ole Miss fans is, is good for you. I mean, I'm, I'm glad I do think Pete Golding is going to need all the help he can get because I'm sorry, cheat Golding, cheat Golding is going to all the help he can get. ⁓ I mean, this man is out here calling recruits. I mean, Dabo, I mean, you can say what you want about Dabo, man. He whines a little bit, but he had a He had a point, man. He's like, look, and it's funny because nothing was brought down about cheat golden, but they, but about a week or two later, they're talking about, they're going to be more fines for this stuff. And they're going to be, the NCA is going to be more on top of that. No, you're not. Shut up. No, you're not. You're not. You've proved this in the past. There's tampering going on everywhere. ⁓ and people wonder why Kirby smart doesn't get involved in this mess. Right. They wonder. And it's like. If these people, if these kids, yeah, I say kids, if they're stupid enough to, to, let the best get out of them with all these, ⁓ tampering things. And I mean, this guy from, forget his name, man. He's a linebacker from, ⁓ I think he was from Cal, right? He was from Cal. And then he signs with Clemson, maybe wrong team, talented guy off the west coast, signs with Clemson, ⁓ is sitting in class, fall classes at Clemson. Cheek Golden is texting him. I know you signed. What's your, yeah, that's right. What's your, heard about that. I heard about that. And next thing you know, man, he's, he's gone. He's gone and he's an Ole Miss. ⁓ and he's on this numerous times. I mean, there was, there was a lot of different times where they said Pete Golden has been in the threads and Cheek Golden is not a figment of your imagination. Like it's happening, dude. And so we're going to see, mean, Trinidad Chambliss is an electric player. ⁓ is he good for the game? Yes. Is it good for the game with the terms on how he's doing it? No, because it's open so many avenues for the sport to get even more convoluted. Yes. For like, convoluted and, ⁓ I guess the best words is a, is a joke. I it's just, it's to be a joke, man. Like we're, we're going to be a joke. You might as well call college football, ⁓ the G league. the G league of the NFL, and then just maybe there's, maybe there's room for college. Maybe it's more like college basketball where basically your best days are going to be played as a, as a freshman or a sophomore. You just kind of know. Hell, freshman. Some don't make it to be a sophomore. I mean, it's like, they know they're one and done. So make sure and make it count. And that's why I think it makes like March Madness. think it makes it exciting. I do think in the back of the day that it was more exciting. mean, I remember I used to follow. the days of UNLV with Larry Johnson and ⁓ Marbury at Georgia Tech. mean, those years where basketball was like, if you had juniors and seniors in college, man, I used to love, mean, Jerry Tarkini used to coach UNLV. They played that late night game because they were on the West coast. And I used to sit there with my pad and paper, man, and try to keep up with the stats. Like college, college basketball was good then, right? ⁓ And then you watched the movie Blue Chips and I firmly agree Blue Chips was like a a dynamic of, or a blueprint to be like, here it comes. This is what's going to happen. Oh yeah. It was almost like, Oh man. Wild, wild, wild. I personally think to cap this off that, you know, I think it's gotta be fair across the board. And do I think Joey Aguilar deserves another year? No. But I think if Trinidad Chalmers does, think Joey Aguilar does. They both have arguments. Don Salaitis is not an argument. No, it's not. And it was so important to you. I mean, he's good, but I mean, like, what's he going to do in the NFL? He's too short. I mean, Kyler Mary had an okay career, but then what's he going to do? Go play in the NFL for a couple of years and then be, you know, passed around, you know, because he can't do it anymore. And like once his legs go, that's it. Like, it's not like he's a dynamic passer or anything like that. I mean, so he knew that this, this is what he's got to do. Cause he's not going to make that much money in the NFL. knew it. Five dollars, man. Five million dollars to stay crazy. Must be nice. That's like, that's like setting this. I guess it set his family up for success. get it, man. I got to it. ⁓ of course. No, get it. Exactly. I'm with you. Like I understand his motive and I'm not hating on him. I just think it's stupid and it sucks and it's just going to get worse because there are no regulations. That's why Pete Golding can do what he does. And you know, we can call him whatever we want, but he's not going to get in trouble for it. Yeah. know, you're going to figure out man, real quick, you're going to figure out who the, who the mad scientist was behind recruiting. or the portal for that matter at Ole Miss because Lane Kiffin left and they have another one of the best portal classes ever. Like great portal class and kudos to Ole Miss. I mean, you guys had a lot of voids to fill. You did it. You were able to keep Trinidad Chambliss. ⁓ I mean, God, you give a, give a King's ransom to Keewan Lacey. mean, Jesus, you got 10 million in your backfield right there. Yeah. For one year. mean, for one year. ⁓ wow. It's wild. Hey, so let's move to Georgia. Georgia, lot of coaching stuff, a lot of coaching stuff was updated. So let's, let's hack through it a little bit. So a lot of big names that came through after, ⁓ a doozy went to a coach, the Dallas Cowboys, same position outside linebackers, ⁓ and an edge. funny, right fish? Like you feel like a dozy, like. I like that's one of the problem spots we had in the last two or three years is the ability from the edge. mean, all those, although you had the freak athletes, I mean, that were able to get to the quarterback, but I think we put them in exotic situations, which is not to go down too much of a, you know, a dark tunnel, like that, I think that was based off of athleticism alone, but scheme wise, I just felt like outside linebacker and you know, in has been a tough spot for us to get a lot of pressure on the quarterback. So additions to the outside is a name that some people were not familiar with. But, but some of these names you're going to see is, is up and comers. I so Larry Knight was literally ⁓ either minutes away from, or was already there. I don't, I don't know exactly, but from being the same, the same coach in the same position at West Virginia this year, up and coming guy known for his recruiting. But one of the biggest things he's been able to do is the places he has gone. have seen drastic statistical changes as far as ability to get to the quarterback and, and the, and the teams that he have coached has ranked in the top 10 % of all teams in sacks and quarterback hurries. Um, you line up with recruiting, which is what Kirby likes to do. You know, Kirby's a little more of a recruiter than less of a portal guy. And statistics say a lot. Um, most recently with Butch Jones at Arkansas state, they went from bottom of the barrel, 110th and beyond to top 20 in sacks and top 20 in quarterback hurries. And that's in all of college football, little old Arkansas state. Right. So, ⁓ so yeah, Larry Knight, somebody that, know, a lot of people didn't really know. ⁓ I like this hire. ⁓ what do you know about this, about this fish? Like you want to speak in this any about Larry Knight? mean, what do you, what have you heard? are your. Like you said, like he's a, he's not, he's not a well known guy. I'm, I'm honestly not heard of him before this, but this is another one of those in Kirby, trust situations where he's only going to bring in people that, you know, that fit the rhyme scheme, so to speak, you know, like that are going to go like that. He thinks are going to be good for the program. And for whatever reason, we haven't had a dominant pass rush, even in 21, 22, when we had those dominant defenses, it wasn't because we were blasting the quarterback. You know what I mean? We were getting some hurries. We were putting pressure, but we weren't landing all the time. We still weren't in the top, you know, as far as pass rush goes. We need one. That's for sure. And we got some dudes this year. So hopefully he can, you know, do something, scheme something up. Cause I mean, we got the athletes, we just, guess, you know, need the map. the blueprint. Yeah. I agree. I agree. Phil Rauscher O line. ⁓ this was the big news, right? So Phil Rauscher takes over. For Stacey Searles, ⁓ in a permanent manner. ⁓ this is another, ⁓ Herbie move, like such a classy move, right? ⁓ one of, you know, one of my biggest things last year was we're getting to a point where it's like, Stacey Searles, is he, is he running out of fresh ideas? Is he running out of, he's getting, he's getting a little up there, right? He doesn't have those young legs on him. He's having to recruit. He's having to be a lot of places. He's having a scheme. He's having to become. continue to keep us relevant and then he's having to be a family guy. Right. So like we all looked back in last year, you know, the addition of Rauscher and to, and John Lilly, ⁓ was that the reason why we were more productive in the run game? ⁓ and then for lack thereof should have, I mean, Monroe freely had an incredible, ⁓ to know that Monroe feeling was minutes away from coming back to Georgia. And then for him to have the incredible, ⁓ combine showing, ⁓ they have, mean, they think that he improved. to top 15 pick that man made himself some money at the combine. ⁓ but like you see, see him, ⁓ and you just see what the, what the line was able to do. This is kind of telling the story here that maybe Kirby's thinking that was a little bit more because of Rauscher and a little less because of Stacey Searles classy move, right? ⁓ he makes it sound like Stacey Searles is like, Hey, we want to, you know, we want to move over time for family. ⁓ we want to get him in a, in a role where he's still at Georgia. ⁓ classy move by Kirby. If we even think this is the reason, right? What did you think about Rauscher? Do you agree or do you feel like this was just like a straight call and you know, maybe Stacey, maybe they made, maybe Stacey Seals made the call, right? You want to step down? don't know. I'm thinking that that's probably, probably had something to do with it. I mean, like you said, we had some good improvement last year, you know, in the run game, which is awesome. And you know, Gunner had a lot of time back there, you know, most of the time. ⁓ I like it. I'm cool with it. You know, It's, you know, he bowed out gracefully is what I'm choosing to believe. You know, I don't think it was a lot because he was, and you know, it's, it's not a, it's not a, it's a young man's game recruiting, you know, and you gotta have the energy. You've got to have the want to, and it's busy work. takes a lot of your time and you know, maybe, you know, he just kinda was just, okay, here, let, let me kind of step aside. Let's put somebody younger in there, you know, somebody with some energy. You know, it's, don't think he doesn't like the game. don't think it was for luck. He lost love of the game. think it was just, it's a lot, man. It's a lot. Yeah. Yeah. Known a lot for his, like, you know, he brought a zone blocking scheme, right. Um, which was different for Georgia. But what I did see was, is I felt like a lot of that combo blocking that steer, Sear's asked of you. I mean, it was a lot of, you know, matchup. ⁓ combo block, sorry to quote my voice, combo blocking schemes. And this is more of, I felt like we were able to stay a lot fresher for a lot longer in these situations, right? A little bit less Georgia-esque. mean, Georgia's, you know, they're, you know, when, when Monkin was around, we loved to run that, you know, we loved to pull those tackles, the pull the guard and the tackle and really run. student body style. And this year we did a lot more zone blocking, a lot more tight end, know, double teams, things like that. I just think it's more of a simplistic terminology for, and you got to look at the NFL and go, these teams have so much turnover from year to year, right? Free agencies, the lines don't stay the same. It just makes sense. Even college football is kind of going the same way, right? There's some teams who are fielding teams coming up in the spring that they haven't had any core of some kind of dynamic of playing with each other at all, right? ⁓ and they got to, they got to suit up and try to figure out how to make things happen in the spring. So I liked the call as well. mean, Rauscher was immediately targeted by the rate, by the Raiders as soon as Kubiak from the Seahawks left. ⁓ the first call that was made for an O-line coach, ⁓ yeah, was, ⁓ was Rauscher and Rauscher chose to stay at Georgia, which I found to be something that lines up again with what. Kirby is known for and that's creating the chemistry and the camaraderie around his team and his coaches to where it's not just a place that you coach and you work, but it's a place where you pour everything into and it's family, right? for him to make that move, I know there was more money involved. I'm sure there was more longevity and hype. ⁓ Then again, it's the Raiders, right? He might've looked at his future and been like, I want to Do I want to coach for Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs? Do I want to go out here and not to say that Kubiak's not going to turn the Raiders around. could, I there's been plenty of coaches who have turned NFL teams around in year one and two. You have the ability to do that at the NFL. I'm not saying that, but I am saying it's a, it's a challenge. And he's, is he looking at longevity going, I can be at Georgia for a long time, or I can go out here to Las Vegas and get fired within year one, you know? And we're redoing everything. So I don't know, man. Other additions, these are some names you might. No and not know. So I love, this is a young up and coming recruiter. ⁓ a lot of talk about this guy. He was nabbed before anybody knew who he was. I think we're going to know who he is very soon, but David Whitlow out of Kennesaw state, I was coming in as sort of an assistant wide receivers coach, right? I love this move, right? We know we went out there and we got Canyon, but we really didn't do a lot to just deepen. the core of our receiving core. That means we're putting a lot of trust in these younger receivers. We're betting on Taylor and Taylor, right? Alan Taylor. ⁓ we're betting on CJ Wiley. We're betting on a lot of these young guys to come through year two. Right. ⁓ so David Whitlow being a guy who can get in there and kind of tag team it. Right. ⁓ I think was a good call. I think we needed that this year. What do think about that? Fish? love it. Love the hire. We did like because we lost a lot of experience in that wide receiver room. Maybe not talent as much, you know, I mean not saying not saying that Kobe Young, Dylan Bell and Zach Branch weren't great because three of the best receivers we've had ever. mean they would rank in my opinion. ⁓ and they were all on the same team. I love it because like I said, we're, we're going to need it. Our wide receiver room is. is anemic as far as experience goes. Like there's not a lot going around and we're going to need somebody to solidify them and get the most we can out of them. And I hope, I think he can help us do that. I think once again, you look at Kirby and you go and Kirby we trust because we go, all right, so what was this about? James Coley has been known as a dynamic recruiter. He's a good teacher of the wide receiver position, but I think you need that young up and coming guy. to get in there and really coach you on, Hey, where do need to be? Where do you want to be in this zone? Where do you want to be man to man? How handsy do you want to be? Where do need to be to catch the ball? Like, and to, for, think to expand the offense, you know, you look at, you look at, um, Zach branch last year and you go, know, 54 % of the balls he caught, um, as much as you want to talk about how electric the Zach branch was last year, 54 % of those tunnel screens, everybody likes to joke about. The reason why he was so successful at Georgia last year, right? Why do you need to throw something? It just get his, just get the ball in his hands as easy as possible. He's going to make something happen. Why do you want to make it difficult? saw umbrella coverage a lot last year. Once they figured out that Gunner would eat your man up. So a lot of teams started running zones against Steven. You know, that's fine if they wanted to do that. And that's what we did. We adapted. Like we went underneath a lot more in Zach Branch. That's, what that's where he made his money. heard it best said the other day. said, know what, what, why do we hate the screen game so much? You know, get the ball in the hands of the playmakers and let them do what they do. They, they, they kind of attributed to this. They were like, when you pull up to pick up your groceries, would you rather them open the door and put it in the back seat or do you rather them chunk it in the window? I mean, I was like, wait, wait, I was like, what, what? Repeat that. And they were like, it literally is that like, why would you It's so hard. I'm telling you, you want me to chunk your groceries through the window, the chance of you getting everything that you came for is from the nun, right? But if I'm opening your door and I'm putting them in the back seat, like you're getting everything you need to go be just give them the ball, man. That's funny. That's the midpoint is that is, is you're getting the ball out quick. It's a high percentage throw. ⁓ you're allowing the person to get the ball and then do what they're great at is to, is to make things happen in space. And, ⁓ Hey, by the way, It's also an extension of the run game. So I don't know, man. Like I find it hard for people that joke the screen game. Like if anything, used to look, I used to go back to Munkin sometimes and be like, dude, why don't we ever throw a damn screen pass anymore? Right. And then Bobo comes. I'm like, all right, dude, like we hold my beer. ⁓ yeah. Exactly. Hold my beer, man. Another screen pass. Here we go. ⁓ man. Great. I love the hire. And then some additions as well. Maurice Smith. Everybody knows Maurice Smith. Maurice Smith was one of the, was one of the first. successful portal pickups for Georgia. ⁓ one of our first best successful portal pickups in the portal age, which came to us from, you know, you know where he came to us from? Fish? Alabama. Yep. Alabama. ⁓ you remember a lot from, ⁓ Mary Smith and he's a game changer against Auburn. that big pick against Auburn. Jalen Harris also move into a support role. And then here's the one, the last one I say for last is I think this guy is going to help our running backs a lot. If Nate Frazier can get anything from this guy, this is a great under the radar hire for Georgia. And that is the great Robert Edwards who, I mean, I grew up watching Robert Edwards. I always just ask myself as why does he have that funky number though? I was like, why does it want to be 47, right? But Robert Edwards was an electric running back. Um, he knew he had, he had breakaway speed. With great pad contact, he'd run you over. mean, it's kind of reminds you of what Nate as a compact runner wants to do. Right. Um, what do you think about the Robert Edwards tirefish? Like that's, that's my peak Georgia fan hood fandom from my childhood, you know, in the nineties, um, him and Bobo together on the field at the same time were trouble. And if those two could have stayed healthy. You know, at the same time, okay. Like that's the same duo. That's the same duo who led us to the 20 point win over Florida in like their hay day of that eight, like nine, 10, 11 straight wins against us. You know, that broke it up. think Georgia was picked to lose by like 15 and we ended up winning 37 17. That was in 1997. I'll never forget that game. It's the only floor. It's the first Florida game I missed from 1985 to 1996. And 1997, I didn't go, then we throttled them. I have actually never seen Georgia beat Florida in person. Never. thing was, is we got to see Robert Edwards. We got to see a lot of Robert Edwards because it's back in the day where it was like, if he came out and he ran for like 1500 yards or some crazy stupid number like that, that ain't that ain't possible. Like thousand yards, like, and he, know, in Georgia went like five and five or five and six or whatever. You know, you didn't have to worry about Auburn coming around the corner and going, I mean, we'll give you $5 million if you come, want to what you didn't have to worry about it. So we got to see the growth of Robert Edwards. Um, and I thought that was cool. I mean, back in the day was cool. Cause you got to see the growth. mean, you'd look at, I remember looking at garrison hearse and I was like, that guy, when he becomes, I mean, you don't say this nowadays, but when that guy becomes a senior, he's going to be, he's going to be unstoppable. Right. Nowadays we're like, uh, We got to lock that guy down or we can see more of them. know, I used to love watching Gears and Hearst man. And you know, I played with him when I remember we, what do you, went to the San Francisco 49ers. I played with him when he came a 49er on Madden. I mean, all these things, man, it's just, you know, I think it's a great hire. I mean, I think Robert Edwards, uh, I think when you speak from, I think for Kirby, you're speaking from experience as being a dog. You're, talking and you're investing in players from. You're keeping the tradition in the doors, which is hard to do nowadays. It really is, man. It's more about the number that you're playing for on your back than it is the number that you're playing for on other people's backs. And it should be in reverse, right? You got to look at the numbers that you're playing for on, on other people's backs. You know, you're like, Hey man, I come today because I'm playing for, I'm the, I'm Drew Bobo, I'm like, I'm playing for 14 today, right? My job's to protect him, get him the ball. But nowadays you get more of I'm playing for 74 today. It's my paycheck. It's my. future. It's my tape, you know, um, it's a tough, it's a tough game right now. So let's move on. So, uh, you know, we are, mean, fish, we are, we're going to give some dates out. I'm sure a lot of people have the dates. We'll give the reminders. We are in March. Uh, the, the, the grass is, is, uh, beginning to bloom a little bit. We're getting some warmer days here down in Florida. I know about Georgia yet. yeah. Um, spring is around the corner. Um, February is done. ⁓ so I thought it would be cool, man. We're getting ready for spring practice. The great thing about spring practices, we'll be able to enjoy it this year. And pretty much, I think this is going to be really great for spring. It's because teams are going to be able to really evaluate what they're working with. And they're kind of going to be able to come out of the spring going, we pretty much know what it's going to look like. One spring practices over, we're going to be 99 % locked in with the occasional, you know, like, okay, well we have these. these guys that didn't early enroll. I mean, that was Nate Frazier two years ago, right? Yeah, that was Nate Frazier. It was like, he came in and everybody was like, you mean telling me this kid's like, he's out there like that and he ain't been there but like two months? That was in itself a crazy story. And we might have some of those stories, but I it would be cool before we get into spring. Like what do we look at as biggest breakout opportunities, right? Biggest breakout opportunities. Now I have mine down here at Before we announced this. So was yours the same one or did you have another one, if it's just for curiosity? I have the one in the notes and we can both hit this one, did you, was there another position breakout group that you thought would be the biggest need for breakout this year? Or it wasn't the same as the one that one's good, but I'm going to go defense. I'm going to say safety. start with you then. Let's let you do your good. You do yours. I mean, I'm just the, we've got a couple of really good, um, safety transfers out of the portal this year. I'm really excited about that. Jamali Riddle more so than the dude from Clemson, in my opinion, that guy from ECU. He's, he's, he's got a, ⁓ a huge upside and he's severely underrated. He can come up and play in the box. He could, he's good at stopping the run. He's a good cover guy. He can cover lots of ground. And I think he's going to see most of the playing time back there with a KJ and cause I think our backend was kind of. Suspect a little bit last year. We had a young secondary last year and we're going to have a young secondary this year. Maybe even younger because Everett's gone. and I know KJ has been there. This will be his third year and Ellis Robinson is going to be a lockdown corner and this will be his third year, but second year starting. So, you know, that's in my opinion, that's, that's where we need the big, the big break from, because the defense was elite. The defense. You know, we could stop the run. were one of the best run defenses in the nation. And those last like two or three games of the season, even the Ole Miss game, the bowl game, you know, if Trinidad Chambliss doesn't have the game of his life, which he'll never do that again. I promise that was it. That was his, that was everything. That was his Graceland. That was his, that was his moment, you know, and just, you know, our secondary was a little suspect and if they, need to come out, they need to come along and solidify and shore up that defense this year. I like it. I like to take, mean, I think, ⁓ man, I've heard a lot of good things about Khalil Barnes. know, more power to it. I love the competition. I love that Kirby is no matter what your name is or, you know, the fifth year senior or, know, he comes, comes in with a lot of upside. I mean, we knew I, I couldn't agree with this more. I never thought through this, but we knew one of the biggest avenues that we needed to hit the portal on and have some depth, but also have some. Some guys back there with some experience after the season was over was the secondary. So I think you have a point there. think, ⁓ I, couldn't agree with you. ⁓ so maybe what's good is, we've kind of, we've kind of pulled one from both sides. ⁓ but I think the biggest upside for us for offense then would be, we've already talked about it, but I think the receiver room is it has, you know, the biggest opportunity, ⁓ as far as guys emerging. ⁓ and like why it matters, why it's going to matter for them to step up. mean, you look at, ⁓ all three of these players, I Zach branch between, you know, ⁓ Dylan bell between, ⁓ Colby, who we didn't, we didn't get a lot of this year because he had some injuries, ⁓ everybody talked about Colby and I think he's going to great out really well. ⁓ in the driving is going to go to a team that really he's going to be a guy that could be a McConkey in the league, like where he. He comes in and you kind of question the upside, you know, it could be good. ⁓ but at the end of the day, I think he's, I think he's going to great out well, his great size. He has great catch radius. He has great hands. ⁓ and as we all know, like something that Georgia is going to have is as a receiver, you're going to know how to block and you're going to have great practice habits. So it's win, win, win there. So, but when you look at the receivers, ⁓ You know, I'm looking for a second or third year receiver ready to take the lab McConkey type lead. Right. Who is that? Right. Um, you know, you look at London Humphreys, uh, we obviously have brought in, um, Isaiah Canyon. Um, you look and you go, there's, mean, I don't know if you heard any of the, uh, Colby Young had an interview and to take the time at the microphone to. talk about the wide receiver room at Georgia. even said, he's like, Kirby doesn't like anybody to do this, but I think it needs to be done. And he said, Talon Taylor is a real deal five-star, you know, had injuries, he had a drop in the Alabama game. Like there was a lot of things that kept him under the radar from who is Talon Taylor and is he real, you know? ⁓ but every, but even including Colby Young, for him to take the time at the podium at the combine and go, he's a real five-star. You gotta look and go, can take. Can, can Talon Taylor, like, can he be the guy that flies under the radar that goes, okay, everybody's talked about this guy, but what is he able to do? Can he come in and lock down some of those, ⁓ some of those branch type numbers? ⁓ what do you think Fish? mean, out of Canyon and Taylor and Humphreys, like I had those three names down, ⁓ talking about receivers, who do you think has the best chance of making the biggest leap? Kind of like a McConkey style. didn't know that would come into the year. not mentioned was Noah Thomas. Like he's gone too. Then so we lost a lot on that side of the ball, but man, yeah. Canyon from Georgia tech. He's six four. He's a big body. You know, he's got some speed. He's not going to outrun the defense, but he's definitely got some speed, you know, good possession type receiver, kind of like Colby young, you know, going to make some plays in the end zone for us in the red zone, hopefully. Cause we need some help there again. Like that's, that's always a need, not just for us, but for everybody. ⁓ but Taylor and Taylor, like everybody says, like we're. Reminds me a lot of Arian Smith, like with his ability to get open, you know, and we're going to need a dynamic explosive guy, you know, with the missing branch now, because I've gotten spoiled and you know, for the longest time, we were just watching other teams with these that had these receivers on their team that could change the game with one play one throw, you know, I hate to say it, that's why Mac Jones was so good, dude. He was throwing the ball to Jameson Williams, Eric Metchi and ⁓ The other dude, I can't remember his name off the top of my head, but man, I could have, I could have won the Heisman that year. All you gotta do is throw the ball up. They're going to go get it. They're going to get Oprah. They were unguardable. Nobody could cover that trio. So, you know, but we need him to take that step forward. London Humphreys. We kind of know what we're going to get. He made some big plays for us last year. You know, we kind of know what to expect from him. And he's the one I see more of like a lad, McConkey than anybody because he's going to. He's going to go out there. He's going to run good routes and he's going to get open and he's got sure hands too. Like, I don't know if the man dropped the ball at all last year. I have no, I don't think he did. So physically like, he's, can have the lab. McConkey year. He's a white guy, but I didn't want to say it. It's like, let me just think is it London? Uh, lab, McConkey stop. No. Um, but, um, you know, I throw Sokovi white help and they're like, I think sick Covey has been flying under the radar and I'm hearing a lot of great things about him. And, know, a lot of times players will go, know, you haven't seen this guy in practice. You haven't seen this, you know, there, think what sometimes can hold good players back is, is there are some really good players who can't connect the practice field to the game field. Like, I just think that's a real thing. Right. You've heard about it. mean, obviously your teammates will want to see you succeed. So they probably see Sokovi White and they're like, look, man, you've been working your tail off. You've stuck it out here. You, you know, you've been a part of, of this team and you know, you've waited your turn like Lab Macconkey, right? He did all these things. He waited his turn. He flew into the radar. He worked and he practiced extremely hard. And so for, for that guy, you know, you want to see him. And it very well could be him. You know, I remember looking back at Nicole Hardman, you know, it's like, Nicole was like first, first year I was like, can this guy be what he, what he came in to be? And then saw a little bit more flashes and then they use them a little bit different. And at the end of the day, like he ended up doing some good things. I don't know if we used everything we could have, you could have with me, Cole, but, um, but you just, you go, can it be that guy now? And I don't know. I would say for me, um, breakout guy, mean, you're, you're kind of. putting your, you're kind of putting a Vegas style bed on Isaiah Canyon. mean, you've seen tape, but like, you know, it took Noah Thomas a little bit to come in and get, you know, custom to the offense and things of that nature. So that could be a, that could be something that holds Canyon back immediately or not. I probably no Canyon could be a student of the game and just come in and just be like, you know, maybe he was just a little bit more ready, you know, than other players. And then you look at Taylor, how's his health? Um, you know, is. Can he get the, the play on the practice field to transfer to the game? Feel like game speed is a little bit different than practice speed. there's a sense of, yeah, there's a sense of like comfortableness with your teammates. agree? Like, offense. mean, apparently there is a formula to bring in a bunch of new dudes from everywhere and get them to solidify and play as one, know, see Lane Kiffin, you know, like there's a formula and you know, Kirby. Kirby's got his own little thing he's doing and I think it's working. I think we get the most out of the guys we bring in, but you're right, you know, learning the system. if Canyon was coming from the Georgia Tech where Paul Johnson was coaching and he was coming into this offense from that triple option offense, that's going to be a hard transition, you know, but we scout. These teams, you know, so we know kind of what offense they're running. There's a, there's a lot of tape on a buster, you know what? I can't remember his last name. ⁓ but anyway, so like we've seen what he knows, you know what I'm, you know what I mean? Like it's, they're pretty similar offenses. They're a lot closer together than they used to be. So as long as that transition is smooth, he's good. Yeah. ⁓ funny you should say that because a lot of people say that, you know, it's funny how like everybody's like buster Faulkner buster Faulkner. ⁓ lot of people say, you look at Faulkner's offense, it's very copy pastish from Bobo. ⁓ it's very similar. ⁓ with the exception of the fact that I think Faulkner has had to lean a little bit, especially with Haynes King last year, but he's had to lean a little bit more towards the running quarterback because of the, just the ability to, I mean, you can say what you want to about Bobo, like tech hit spots last year where they were very dependent on Haynes King. Running the football or making something happen. ⁓ I don't think you could say that last year with Gunnar. I don't think there was one play where it was like, okay, Gunnar has to get it all done here. Right. You, you you had, you had guys in the backfield that can make a difference. had, you know, receiver, playmakers, difference makers everywhere. You had tight ends making differences everywhere. And you had a much improved O line and a much improved run game last year. So that's a lot easier to work with than, ⁓ like Haynes King is all I got. Line isn't so, so solid. can't depend solely on his arm. It can't depend solely on the fact that we have a ton of five star receivers. So we just got to make some things happen athletically to make it all come off. with that being said though, let's, let's kind of look at, ⁓ I have four names, incoming freshmen who could break out, right? ⁓ you know, we don't recruit at Georgia depth. I don't think we do. mean, you could say in an era of. ⁓ in an era like, you know, in the portal that we're going through right now is, like, should you recruit these top priority five and four stars if they're not going to start the first year, are they going to stay? Are they going to invest? Did you waste millions of dollars to have them come in and learn from Georgia and then go and use their expertise somewhere else? I attributed that to kind of like a Xavier and Sory who was at Georgia who the year where I think he was going to blossom. He goes to Arkansas and he takes, you know, an IL check and he ends up there. And, ⁓ you know, want, look back at, at Sory and you go, dude, what could have been right? You chased a bag and you know, you had the opportunity to win a national championship, you know, those two years. ⁓ first one I have is, is, ⁓ so Kaden Prothroat, number one tied in Mr. Georgia football out of Bowden high school, ⁓ number one tied in prospect in the country. And this is no. ⁓ secret that, you know, we've recruited well at the tight end position. ⁓ you know, especially with the talent coming in with ether barb or you got lost and lucky coming back. Elias Williams. mean, how can Elias Williams be utilized? But also this guy ain't no just, we're not recruiting, ⁓ depth at tight end. This is an Ethan Barbora guy. Like if Ethan Barbora doesn't get hurt, they said this guy's going to be an impact. No, I like Barbora. ⁓ my God. When he went down, that hurt that, that hurt us. And I know we had dealt and lucky, but that dude was something. Yeah. I'm looking forward to seeing him play this year. Yeah. Wait, I helped Ethan Barbora and Elias Williams is, but this guy came in pro throw, man. He's built like a little bit. mean, I'm interested to see, I don't, you know, I know Kirby. don't, I don't, a lot of people put their eggs in one, you know, they're like, man, this guy's gotta play as a freshman. We don't get to see these reps as young kids that these guys are seeing. And don't get me wrong. Like you're talking about one of the top SEC classes this year, returning the most players with the most game experience this year. That's Georgia. Right. So, you know, it might be a little hard for, for these guys. Um, I'm hearing things about this name, um, tackle out of Durham, North Carolina, uh, Akeen Agboko. This guy has a lot of upside. You could see him. You could very well see him in the rotation as soon as I spring is done with, um, he kind of comes off, uh, you know, as a guy who could enter into the lineup very quickly. He's, uh, he's, he's an agility guy. He's a little bit different of a, of a makeup than George's used to less of a battleship or of a, uh, an agility skill blocking guy, but they have a lot of upside. Um, so, Boko, I'm hearing a lot about this one in the safety, name's Zach Fort. out of IMG Academy, 11 safety. Um, this one right here was a big thing for IMG because of his speed. Um, speed at the safety position, man, is something that I don't know about you, man, but like the days of the champ Bailey and the days of, like those guys that like, you know, that four, three, 40 speed. mean, Dylan never ran a four. Did he run a four, four, three, eight? I didn't expect that by the way, but like speed in the secondary is something like, would you agree that I think we, we, we tend to look for less of the. You know, less of the guys that can step up into the box and make a tackle and more of the guys who can cover nowadays. What do you, what do you think about that? I mean, am I wrong? Am I off on that? I just feel like Georgia needs to switch gears a little bit and look more to recruit speed in the secondary. No, I think you're right. And this guy I'm telling you, I know I've spoken about him already once, that Jamarley Riddle from East Carolina is my God. They can step up cover and he can cover a lot of ground. Like he is deceptively fast. Then I think his upside is, is huge. I think the sky's the limit with this guy. He's going to see a bunch of playing time. Yeah. Last one I have on here is Craig Dandridge. Uh, we recruited him out of Carrollton high school, uh, 18 or 18 wide receiver in the country. This was a guy that Georgia latched back onto, um, beat man beat this kid runs a low, low, low four three 40. Um, and I was in high school. They're not official times in high school. Right. I mean, we're dealing with like. We're kind of dealing with like Dick's sporting goods, stopwatches and not your, you know, high tech, but you know, this is a guy that Georgia really likes. They locked in on, they really like his speed. And you just got a feeling, are we turning the corner at wide receiver? Are we turning the corner? Like we went and got Canyon, but I think Canyon has to be a get because we lost so much production. You you look at, you look at Zach, look at, you look at about Cole Young, then you look at Dylan Bell, there's a lot of production in those three guys. So I think they had to offset it a little bit with somebody who can come in and who's played, who has some game time experience. Does, does Georgia have a few games to get ready? Yeah. I mean, you got, you got two games at the top that are going to be, uh, highly favored in, and then you got Arkansas on the road. Are you going to be highly favored in, you know, before you turn back around and you're, I think you're playing Oklahoma at home after that. So, um. But they're going to have time. They're going to have three weeks to get a little bit more game ready. But I like these names. A lot of, a lot of really good freshmen. We could go through a lot of them. They're to turn heads. Uh, but let's, let's, uh, I thought we'd do something fun before we ended the night. Fish would do a little, uh, around the sec, right? Buy sell whole type thing. A lot of there's some things in here about the sec. There's some things about Georgia and Kirby. But first one I have up here is, um, you know, What you got on this one? So buy, sell or hold. Buy meaning you, you agree with this. You're putting your money in on this one. Sell means you don't disagree. ⁓ I'm sorry. You don't agree and you don't think this is going to happen this year or hold meaning, I mean, there's potential there for it to happen. I don't want to give an answer yet because I haven't seen enough to kind of know. Right. So let's go through some of these things. Right. And then we can, we can draw them out a little bit, but, ⁓ By seller hold Georgia returns to elite defensive dominance in 26, 27 Kirby smart defenses will stay down long. History says bounce back year by seller hold. What do you think about this? No, what about tap? Cause I'm buying that. You're buying that. Okay. I'm buying that. Tell tell me why. mean, come on. Okay. So, all right. We were the youngest team in the SEC last year. We had seven returning starters last year. We returned 17 this year and a lot of that is on the defensive side of the ball. We lost CJ, not to take anything away from that. That's that's that's gargantuan. That's a huge loss. Okay, but Raelyn Wilson and Chris Cole are going to take over the middle yet. Jaden Walker and Quintavious Johnston, I think only outside. The defensive line is just shored up. They're not the problem. The back end, if I had to pick something, would be the only question mark. I think that we got a shut down corner because it's going to be Robinson Island over there. We know it is. ⁓ I'm excited about the defense way more than I was the previous two years. this group is not going to be while we lose games. mean, the good news is, is if CJ Allen doesn't like where he's drafted, he can just come back, go to the court, go to the courts and apply for his next year of eligibility. Right. You can go down to planes. can get the judge in planes, Georgia, Georgia. That would be the equivalent right there. Yeah. Yes. That would be the equivalent. What a damn, what a metaphor to that. mean, that's metaphorically speaking. I mean, that's basically if you want to. picture of what happened. That's what happened. Right. Everybody would have to come out to the front porch in Plains, Georgia for that to get any media attention. And that would only draw about 75 people. ⁓ Yeah. I like by, ⁓ you know, I debated this one. I'm going to buy this one too. Let me tell you why. I know you like Riddle. The Khalil Barnes pickup for me says another veteran back there. I think that stands for a lot. Right. I think field generals have been something that, ⁓ you've seen these fourth, fifth year seniors for Georgia as well. mean, Smith was a, was a fifth year senior and a key piece of that defense last year at Georgia. I liked the, I liked the depth that we've sewn up in the secondary. ⁓ I really like our linebackers and I really like the addition of the defensive line. The box for me. Here's my thing though. Here's thing though. ⁓ I like our linebackers, but the, what, if we can be healthy, I have not clicked the love button on the defensive line, ⁓ since 2022, 2023. if hall, I mean, here's, here's a name man that like, if he can just come in and fill the shoes that he has been talked about that he can't. ⁓ to add to everything we already have, but this Marius Williams kid from Auburn out of the portal, he's a monster. nothing but great things about this guy, man. so I'm gonna have to buy it off of the fact of I've never been more excited about the box, never been more excited about the box. The additions tonight. And I think this is, I think this is the, I don't know, man, like I'm gonna make it. I'm gonna make a crazy. statistical saying right here. I have a feeling that if it's not back to elite defense, I think you're going to get a lot of questions towards is the right man in the right spot on the defensive coordinator position. Right. I think he's maybe even, would you agree that maybe he's even a hot seat guy this year as far as defense is concerned? Is it that much you think is that, is that that point right now? would say the expectations are that high, especially from the fan base. I mean, I I don't know what Kirby's thinking. I know Kirby's a really loyal guy to his guys. He, you know, he, he's the guy you want to go work for. ⁓ but yeah, I think so from a fan's perspective. Yes. It's a, it's an interesting, that's the exact, I didn't expect to really add that on, but like, is this, you know, is this a year that I hate to say it, man, but is it a turning point year for Georgia that. You know, Kirby, Glenn Schuman has been a guy that has not had a lot of complaints until this year. mean, the top two complaints were Bobo and Schuman. so I'm not sure about the mean, yeah, they both did. Two years ago, I was, I'm not going to be a liar because you're going to see every post I've had that was like, if we don't get rid of Bobo, like we were done. Right. But Schuman's been a little bit different. Yeah, everybody's a different. Everybody said anybody who says they never had, they've always had faith in Bobo's a liar. Yeah. Yeah. I'm definitely not going to jump in that hypocritical cesspool. ⁓ but, but for Schumann, I agree, like this could be a turning point. Like if it doesn't, ⁓ I think they've given him what he needs as far as recruiting, ⁓ some of the top most dominant. I didn't even mention, ⁓ the defensive tackle that has the big upside, the five star coming in, ⁓ that everybody will hear about during spring. I didn't mention his name either, but yeah, man, I'm going to buy it to just based off of, love the talent that we have in the box. And I think we can, I think we'll have a little bit more tenure in the secondary too. And it just a little bit more God given speed, maybe. Let's move on to the next one. Sell buy, buy, as the SEC this year is wide open, right? Until someone proves otherwise the road still runs through. mean, for me. Here's the buy, or hold. Is it wide open or does, does the S E C still run through Athens or Texas, or, is it wide open? Do you feel like there's more teams that are out there? I mean, what's your take on that? Because you're going to see a lot of, mean, you're going to see a lot of Georgia or Texas predicted to win the SEC. Texas is going to get the prediction. Texas is going to be who ESPN picks to win. ⁓ I'm going to have to hold. That's easy because they're going to be on the arch train again. You know, plus, you know, much champ coming in as the new DC, you know, there's going to be an improvement on that side of the ball. I like big wheel. I hope he does. I hope he does good, but I hope Texas sucks at the same time. I hope they have a defense that doesn't allow hardly any points, but they have an offense who's can't score any points. Yes. There you go. told somebody that the other day. Boom. So yeah, I'm gonna. I'm kind of, I will Hawkeyes of the SEC. Yep. I'm going to hold on that. Going to hold it. Yeah. I'll hold to, I think that, I mean, I'm not being that biased Georgia van, but I'm saying if Kirby smart's proven one thing the last three years, the SEC comes through Athens, right? I think the reason why it could be a hold and this could be true as far as being a little bit more wide open is there's a lot of unknown. this year, right? What does, ⁓ you know, what does some of these teams do with some of these portal flips and quarterbacks? You know, we're going to talk a lot of it about it over the off season because we just need stuff to talk about. So we venture out of the SEC and talk about it. But what does Austin Simmons bring to Missouri? Right? This is a guy who was supposed to be the guy at Ole Miss until Trinidad Chambliss comes, steals the, know, steals the, the cape max, you know, maximizes the efforts off of an injury. And Austin Simmons now ends up in Missouri. This is also going to be a defense that's been torn up with graduates and NFL, you know. So, you know, you look at what some of these teams can do, the Missouri's, what does John Summer all mean to Florida? He's talked the talk. Can he walk the walk? ⁓ Obviously what, you know, I mean, Sarkisian is pulling out all of the stops. mean, we got, you know, we have $40 million spent in roster. have Will Muschamp as the DC. We have. Um, Cam Coleman, I mean, we're paying him a Kings ransom along with other, you know, guys that come in Hollywood. What's his last name? Hollywood something. It's mothers. and, and then just recently they just picked up Mark Stoops as a special assistant to Sarkisian to do what? This is it, man. I think Sarkisian this year, he's built, he's built more pressure around the preparation than he has just getting in and trying to go out there and win the, win it all. Right. He's all in, like he pushed his chips to the middle of the table. This is it. It's ride or die. It might be it for Texas. Maybe Texas is looking, go, man, I've given you everything. If you can't get it done with Arch. mean, this is the last year of the Arch train, which if you remember correctly, yes, Arch Manning is making six point something million dollars a year. ⁓ if I'm not mistaken, because it's an accumulative build as the year goes, but if you remember correctly, they got him on the low down because it was all name, image and likeness. So they had a lot of people that shipped in to pay that. money before it hit like a cap portion. So technically Texas is only on the hook for like a million, million, million and half because of the fact that so, so that's why they're also like, ⁓ okay, we need to maximize arch because next year we're to be paying 5 million for a guy in this and they might not be as good as arch. ⁓ I, so, mean, I, I think, I think it's, I'm gonna, I'm gonna sell on this one. I think it still goes through. If you look in here, my notes. I have Tuscaloosa, but, we're, we're going to talk about all these teams later on, but I have Bama having a tough time this year. ⁓ how about this one? ⁓ buy sell whole veteran quarterbacks matter more than five star freshmen this year in the SEC. I actually had notes of Aguilar down here, but this was after that Aguilar got the no. So you look at Chambliss, you look at a Gunner Stockton, ⁓ you look at, Austin Simmons, ⁓ you look at. ⁓ even a Sam Levitt who was not a five star, right? Who's a guy that, know, ⁓ I think, don't doubt it, man. I think Trinidad Chambers was on a list that I think Lane Kiffin wanted Trinidad Chambers to come over there. But I think Trinidad was like, Hey man, like I'm sure Trinidad's parents were like, you should stay at Ole Miss. I mean, there's more loyalty there. It was up to dollars and cents. Lane Kiffin would have said, I just think Lane Kiffin wasn't all in on the fact that he could get eligible. So he had to make sure, I mean, There's no way Lane Kippen could have missed on the quarterback the first year. He couldn't. So I don't think he had the leniency to go after Trinidad because he didn't have control of that situation. He couldn't control it with money. He couldn't control it with talk and he couldn't control it with promises because at the back of his mind, the promises were all unmet if the NCAA and the courts were like, no. So he was done and he had to get it done the first window. So, but what do you think, man? What do you think about that question? Buy, sell, hold? What do you think? I'm all about experience. I think a five star coming in can be exciting to watch and put some points on the board. But I think once it gets down to the nitty gritty, it's hard to win some games. It's hard to win those games at the end of the year. Like when everything matters the most, when all the pressure is on the line and these kids have never experienced anything like that. And then sometimes the weight of it can, can, can crush you. Can crush a young person. You know what I mean? I I'm gonna, I'm gonna sell that or I'm going to buy that. Sorry. That you want experience. mean, look at, look at Indiana and the team that they put together this year. The average age of the guys on that team were basically, they're basically an NFL team playing a bunch of college teams. Like they're probably the, think they were the oldest team as far as average age, you know, of the teams that were especially in the playoff. And it mattered all that maturity, that experience, you know, like that stuff does, that's not like something that you can just look away from and shy away from dude. That that's important. All that stuff matters. Yeah. I agree, man. I, I'm going to go, I'm going to buy that right with you that, um, I think veteran quarterbacks matter more than five star freshman. mean, uh, you know, the kid that should have come to Georgia, what's his name? Jared. What's his name, man? He's a nobody anymore because he's not coming to no plan, but, uh, he's headed to Vanderbilt. Here's the lose the win, lose or win, win or lose, lose for Vanderbilt is. Even if this is makes us wrong, right? If five star freshmen are more important, Vanderbilt is losing everything this year. mean, they're losing an offensive line that defense. mean, do I think they're going to be able to do okay? They're going to win. Yeah. I think, I think they'll be able to win four or five games, maybe get bowl eligible. ⁓ but he's going to, but here's the thing. The wind loses is that if the writing's on the wall, this kid comes in and shows any type of grid. And you know, you know, I guess what would you call it? ⁓ just. talent, they're going to move forward. Don't you agree that he's going to go sign for a bag? Like he's going to leave Vanderbilt and go to a may of Texas is looking if they're like, Hey man, we're off the arch train. This guy goes out, wins four games, but still throws for 2000 yards. You don't think that price tag goes up and we, mean, everybody it's a, it's a win-win. even though five star freshmen, you know what I'm saying? Yeah. Oh, I understand. I see that happening, dude. Like honestly, like This kid is going to come in like it's after like Manziel when he left A ⁓ man, they went boom. Like the program knows that. And you know, that's what's going to happen. Vandy's not going to be the same this year, man. Pavia and that hype and that momentum that they had was a lot to do with why they had the season they had to Like it's Vanderbilt may be lucky to win five games this year. lost their doctorate of height in Pavia. I'm curious to see what Pavia, you know, I feel like it's, you know, I was like this on should do her last year. I was, I was like, you know, should do her. He comes in the car. He comes into the pros, you know, I did not expect him to be start like the guy. I didn't expect him to be a sub in for the pro bowl. And I didn't expect him to be the guy at Cleveland. Nobody's expecting the pro bowl because he has like the most like Instagram followers. I don't know. Like most of the NFL players do. That's what that was. had nothing to do with his ability. And I'm not saying the kid can't play, but I'm saying the kid didn't earn a pro bowl spot. Right. popular vote. Honorable mention per se dress you out in a uniform, but you never actually, we butts in the seats. want people streaming. Let's get the guy that they're going to want to watch. We're not going to put, you know, Aaron Rogers who had a better season than he did in there because nobody wants to see his old behind play. Right. not wrong. You're not wrong at all. Um, I, man, it's wild. It's crazy. I just think when you look at all of this, like Vanderbilt is gonna, Pavia is gonna be, he could be this guy. He could be not. It's like, you really got to track down and look of what, gets him? How do they want to utilize him? And I mean, hell, he could end up at the Tennessee Titans and he could be playing instead of Cam Ward. How many times are you seeing the number one pictures of Bust for a team? Somebody said this the other day, man. They said, it almost feels like you went out and got like a best buy quarterback. And then next thing you know, the real quarterback is the team who quarterback that came in and puts up all the odds. Right. So, you know, it's like you went out and you got cam ward paid a bag for him. He's your best buy quarterback. And then are they going to slide on Pavia? Next thing you know, the Tennessee Titans have the team who Pavia in there, like winning games and. Kim ward becomes an afterthought and I mean, who knows me and who knows what that is the one thing for me that keeps the NFL really cool for me is to see who comes out of the comes out of the back burner and just really like says I can play this league at a high level and nobody expected it. know, mean, best quarterback to ever play the game was the sixth round pick. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, man. He was a guy that wasn't even watching the, was taking a jog, bro. Yeah. He taking a jog. And his parents had to tell him he got drafted. We're talking about the same guy, right? Yeah. ⁓ well, I hope so. Yeah. Yeah. No. I, know, Tom Brady man for me is, ⁓ it's the story of a century, man. You know, he sat on that panel with, ⁓ what was that? What was that? ⁓ ESPN story, man, where, you know, you saw it on Jerry McGuire. They always made somebody cry. It was, it was a talk show, but anyways, they read off to him what the scout said about him. He's too slow. You know, he runs a five eight or some stupid number like that. He's arm strength's not good enough. He plays played for Michigan. He didn't have, you know, towns and quarterbacks coming out of there, which I disagree with, but, and he was no six foot 200, nothing of nothing, you know, and the guy is comes down as the most prolific quarterback. Hey man, it's been fun. So let's close real quick. So, ⁓ obviously. for everyone, ⁓ Georgia spring practice opens up very soon. Let's get everyone a absolute correct day. 17th. March 17th. Yes, sir. So, so that's St. Patrick's day. Leprechaun day. Is when that starts. And then G day will be on April 18th this year. And we don't know if that's going to be televised or not. I'm leaning towards saying that probably not. Uh, but man, it is bro. It's right around, uh, the corner, man. So thought it would be cool. Thank goodness, man. Cause I don't know, man. Like for me, it's like, it's my January, January is my least favorite month of the year. All right. For people who have birthdays in January, February would be like February is probably second for me. I don't like, I don't like general. Uh, my third most least favorite month probably is. Um, I would say for me is probably like May, right? I'm just sitting there and I'm like, you know, now we're out of spring practice. Start summer's coming, but it ain't started yet. You're just waiting on it. And summer's here and then at least you got some things and then you got fall and then everything picks up and you know, we play college football for like eight damn months. So, I mean, did you hear, did you hear next year that the, the national championship is going to be like three weeks into January. I'm sorry. No, no, no, no, no. Maybe, maybe that was February. Hold on. Let me look. I just want to see this. me, let me ask when will the national championship in college football be played next year? This is going to be a wild chat. Wait, what is this? No, no, no, no, no, bro. Give me 25, 26. What the frick? 27. Yeah. This junk ain't as smart as you think it is. Bro, I heard this the other day. Where the frick is it? I heard anyways, don't quote me on this, but I heard like three weeks into February. It's nuts. When is the super bowl usually played? Second week of February. Okay. It's not that long. It's not that long. We need to check it out there anyways. That's a long time. It is man. It's forever. As we close though, talk to me, tell me what you're looking forward to seeing. If, if you're listening for news coming out of spring practice, what's the first thing that your, your ear is wanting to cling to first? What's the first bit of news you want to hear coming out of spring practice? Everybody's only have one. What's that? Everybody's healthy. Okay. Everybody's healthy. I like it. I didn't go to that one. I didn't go to that one at all. But, for me, for me, ⁓ I think, I think it's that I want the offense to be winning more than the defense this year. And I'll tell you why it's because traditionally defenses do better during the spring. They just do. It takes a while for offenses to mesh. Things of that nature. You tend to hear more about how the defense is dominating spring practices than you do the offense. And I think if the offense can have great days, they can have great scrimmages. That means that this, I'm not worried about the defense. I like, I know, I know you look back and you go, we probably lost the Ole Miss game because we're, we just couldn't cover. couldn't get Trinidad Chambliss on the ground and we just couldn't cover for that long. But what damn team could? Nobody dude, can't, you can't play. You can't cover man to man for like five, six seconds. got about two, three seconds and then y'all need to be on the quarterback. Right. Right. Yeah. But I like yours too injury free. And for me, I think I pick, want to, want the offense to be the, I'd like to hear every day. Offense is just dominating. And I'm like, okay, because I just have a feeling with Kirby smart with Schumann with the talent that we have, it's going to take us a little bit to mesh together with those additions in the portal. ⁓ but I think this defense is going to be really good, man. And I think also too, we didn't brush on this because I don't like spending a lot of time on it because it's always taken care of internally. We also have to see like, what's it going to look like game one and two, obviously with some suspensions probably looming for Chris Cole and, ⁓ some of these driving incidents, things of that nature, like what's it going to look like? But I do have a feeling that this defense is going to, even if they start out rough, they're going to get right. There's a lot of talent, there's a lot of athleticism stuff. Well, fish kind of a good, ⁓ what I call a comeback show after the sabbatical. So, fun stuff, man. We're, we're going to have loads of material. We're going to do a lot of stuff around the sec. Obviously we're going to be covering spring practice a lot when it's going on. But then after that's, after that's done and we get into the summer, we're going to kind of go around the sec. We're going to look at, we're going to rank quarterbacks from, top to bottom of the sec. We're going to look at a way too early top. 25, we're going to look at a way too early SEC prediction. Uh, and then obviously we're going to do like we always do throughout the summer. And we're going to take some time and break down every single SEC team leading up to, uh, it just gives us a little bit of a countdown and a lead up to the first game of the season. uh, fish always fun, man. Glad to see your back healthy. Didn't hear you coughing a lot. So hopefully you're getting better and, uh, best wishes to you, Uh, and. Guys look forward to seeing you soon. Hopefully next week. ⁓ barring, ⁓ you know, the crud, right? The crud or just life, right? Any last minute words, Fish, before we get off? Gabe Harris. We didn't even mention him. We didn't even mention him when we were talking about the linebackers, bro. How did that, how did we, how did we not say his name? know, Gabe Harris, when Gabe Harris was healthy, I think Gabe Harris did last year what everybody thought Gabe Harris was going to do. And that was, he had to be sneaky. Like he had to be sneaky good. mean, he's always been, Harris has always been in my opinion, for all he's been at Georgia, he's been talked about a lot at practice. He's been talked about a lot in the spring. And then you go, where's Gabe Harris? Right. I think last year was the first year where we went, Hey, everybody's talking about Gabe Harris. And then you're like, Holy cow. Okay. Gabe Harris. Right. So for me, I don't think I said Gabe Harris, cause I don't want to jinx it, man. Like I really came on last year when he's healthy. Maybe for me, I'll just, I'll duck cover and go, maybe I just didn't want to jinx it. There you go. That'll work. That'll work. I'll slip. Hey, me too. I'm jumping on the band, jumping on the train. jinxing. You wanted help out of, out of spring football. That's right. All right, man.
